Assignment Description
A reputable hospital has high quality ratings from patient satisfaction surveys but is still losing market share. For many years, health care organizations, as well as traditional businesses, have been frustrated that high customer satisfaction scores do not necessarily lead to higher levels of profitability or sales.
Prepare a report examining this phenomenon that address the following elements:
Evaluate and explain inconsistency between customer satisfaction scores and profitability and why it tends to exist in health care organizations.
Apply the statistical procedures discussed in class to support (or refute) the inconsistency.
Assess price vs. quality of services as well as the impact of insurance or managed care contracts on a hospital's market share, regardless of patient satisfaction levels.
Explain how you could use high patient satisfaction results to your advantage when negotiating a new managed care contract for the hospital. Discuss ethical issues involved when presenting results.
Discuss how qualitative and quantitative data can be used to help this hospital improve market share.
The body of the resultant report should be 5–7 pages and include at least 5 relevant peer-reviewed academic or professional references published within the past 5 years.

Statistical Analysis 1 Below is a list of articles and summary descriptions on effective communication in health care. Click here to use the online library to search for the complete articles. Article 1 The increased use of meta-analysis in systematic reviews of health care interventions has highlighted several types of bias that can arise during the completion of a randomized controlled trial. Study publication bias and outcome reporting bias have been recognized as potential threats to the validity of meta-analysis and can make the readily available evidence unreliable for decision making. This update reviews and summarizes the evidence from cohort studies that have assessed study publication bias or outcome reporting bias in randomized controlled trials. Twenty studies were eligible, of which four were newly identified in this update. Only two followed the cohort all the way through from protocol approval to information regarding the publication of outcomes. Fifteen of the studies investigated study publication bias and five investigated outcome reporting bias. Three studies have found that statistically significant outcomes had higher odds of being fully reported as compared to nonsignificant outcomes (range of odds ratios: 2.2–4.7). In comparing trial publications to protocols, it was found that 40–62% of studies had at least one primary outcome that was changed, introduced, or omitted. It was decided not to undertake meta-analysis because of the differences between studies. This update does not change the conclusions of the review in which 16 studies were included. Direct empirical evidence for the existence of study publica ...

Windshield Survey
Conduct a windshield survey to identify a population and its primary health concern. Develop a 3–5-page report that explains demographic changes for a population and describes the health disparities and social determinants of health that can affect the population.
Note
: The assessments in this course build upon each other. You are strongly encouraged to complete them in sequence.
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:
Competency 1: Explain the principles and concepts of disease prevention and health promotion for diverse and vulnerable populations.
Describe a vulnerable or diverse population living within a neighborhood or community.
Describe disease prevention and health promotion for a vulnerable or diverse population.Â
Competency 4: Examine the ethical, legal, and economic factors related to health disparities in diverse and vulnerable populations.
Identify health disparities and social determinants of health that can affect a vulnerable or diverse population.
Competency 5: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with expectations for members of the health care professions.
Describe the overall condition of a neighborhood or community.
Write content clearly and logically, with correct use of grammar, punctuation, APA formatting, and mechanics.
As the population of the United States grows more diverse, the health care workforce must increase awareness of cultural differences and the overall shift in the demographics of the entire population. To provide high-quality health care to a community or population, health workers and educators must be competent in their understanding of the relevant characteristics of its ethnic or cultural groups. The ability of nurses to deliver high-quality care to a diverse population will influence health prevention and the treatment of illness.
Windshield Surveys
A windshield survey helps you create a portrait of the people who live within a specific neighborhood or community. This is an inexpensive, time-efficient way to assess and better understand a community and the people who live within that community. Understanding the demographics of a community will help you determine the kinds of health-related issues that are likely to exist, so you can plan the most appropriate types of wellness programs, health education, and disease prevention
Preparation
Over the past few years, leadership for the health care organization for which you work has noticed a distinct change in the population served by the organization. Leadership wants to make sure they are addressing the needs of this population. You have been asked to participate on an interdisciplinary team that is charged with learning how the population has changed and what needs to be done within the organization to develop a wellness education program that will target ...

RESEARCH TOPIC
Family nurse practitioners are much more interested in improving the general quality of nursing care and services delivery to the patients. I believe that family nursing practitioner profession is very vital in improving the quality of care by serving a very unique function in the medical care system. This is through the development of lasting relationships with patients and viewing the success of patients within the greater family and community framework.
My research topic of interest is Obesity and Weight Management Programs. The reason why I choose doing this research is due to the day by day increasing mortality rates and considerable morbidity that are linked with obesity due to the impact that it has on other conditions such as type 2 diabetes, reproductive diseases, cancer as well as gastrointestinal diseases. (Tappen, 2016). Obese individuals face a incessant, enduring struggle. This makes obesity to be one of the most prevalent diet-related health problems globally and more so in the United States. It places a significant burden on healthcare systems. There is, therefore, the importance of research to better understand the problem and how it can be maintained.
According to Lean, et al., (2018) there was a projection by the government that by the turn of 21st century, less than of 20% of adults aged 20 years and above and no more than 15% of adolescents aged 12 and above should not be overweight. This goal has not been achieved; rather, the United States is moving father rather than closer to the goal. The prevalence of overweight and obesity continues to rise and not falling.

STATISTICS RESEARCH DESIGN /METHODS
The US healthcare system has had quite a number of flaws that have for a very long time been ignored due to the assumption that the two main methods of catering for healthcare in the US, Medicaid and Medicare, are sufficient and efficient. However, late developments have been made to cub the issues brought about by their inadequacies. These include the famous affordable care act famously referred to as Obamacare (Patient protection and affordable care act) (Pipes, 2013).
A closer look at there issues with all over the country shows that the two most common methods of helping individuals cope with healthcare needs mostly ignore children. Medicare is for individuals that are beyond 65 years while Medicaid is not a guarantee not unless there is clear evidence of low income levels which unfortunately, is also not a guarantee. Children Healthcare Program at least is available for people that are considered to have an income too high to qualify for Medicaid. All these however aren’t supported by the data at the North Memorial Hospital of Minnesota. Children continue suffering compared to adults at least in comparison and the benchmark on government help through health funding.
There is a great need to look at this close and find out whether these facts are so or it is an assumption and if the rest of the state of Minnesota is still in the same state.
Availability of Medicaid reduces chances of children receiving health care from the medical canter. This research design is going to rely on Medicaid as the independent variable. Health care on children received through CHIP (Children Health Insurance Program) is going to be the dependent variable. Therefore, the problem under research here is: Availability of Medicare to (some) families undermine the probability of children to get access to CHIP and thus resulting to less affordability and availability of healthcare to children through the medical center.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
This research method document aims at establishing the relationships between various Healthcare products and platforms that are provided by the Federal government in association with the state of Minnesota and the way they interact to affect accessibility and affordability of healthcare with the case study of the North Memorial Hospital in Minnesota.
It will identify the role of, and the statistics around, Medicare, Medicaid and Children Health Insurance Program and their interplay to understand if they have any effect on the healthcare affordability and availability to children. More to this is the number of children that are not covered by CHIP due to the role played by Medicare in bringing about assumptions that disadvantage the healthcare access o.

Healthcare Visualizations: Are You Getting the Entire StoryHealth Catalyst
Â
The emergence of powerful and user-friendly healthcare data visualization programs has transformed analytical reporting. The amount of information conveyed by all types of graphs, symbols, sizes, and colors is staggering. The ability to “drill down” in real-time with increasing levels of granularity enables all manner of analyses. The downside of this data hunger is the creation of simplified, context-free visualizations which may inadvertently lead to misinterpretations, most often in the form of a false positive (believing a change has occurred that really hasn’t). This often leads to knee-jerk reactions to correct the “change” and unnecessary actions being taken that waste time, effort, and money. Avoiding the most common pitfalls will ensure your organization has the most complete picture to drive meaningful change.

Got the pleasure of being invited to the day one / two of the #StartupWeekend were a total whirlwind.
Here, I was talking about the Business Model Canvas and why it matters!
Picture this – 40 groundbreaking ideas pitched in just 60 seconds each to a crazy room of about 80 people – we had everyone from seasoned founders to talented graduates from top Kenyan tech schools, and even Kenyans who've returned from abroad to test out their entrepreneurial skill sets, students, doctors, lawyers, etc etc.
The ideas they came up with? Among the best in my many years of participating in Startup Weekends. Folks were thinking big, tackling everything from blood donation to agritech, and mobility. There was even a proposal that felt straight out of an Elon Musk black mirror brainstorm, all about storing memories for the future. Seriously impressive stuff!!
Everyone in the room voted for their favorite ideas. From there, they grouped up into teams of 3 to 5, forming bonds with their potential new cofounders. These freshly minted teams have just 2 days to work up their prototypes. To their benefit, we have had some industry experts on hand to offer their wisdom and support.
I totally believe in this edition, we shall see some of the founders making waves in the startup world in a few years. Keep an eye out for more updates, as we're gearing up for the final day where the top 13 teams will go head to head for the winner's title of the Techstars Startup Weekend 2023. The energy is high, chaotic, fast, and we can't wait to see what happens next…

Why are you on #linkedin? Seriously, why?
Who are you on #linkedin?
What are you offering on #linkedin
These three questions, explain the building blocks to setting up and exploring LinkedIn. 2 weeks ago I had the privilege to share an evening with an amazing group of facilitators from Taifa Teule Network.
Sharing foundational insights on how #facilitators of the Taifa Teule Network can use LinkedIn for networking.
One thing I always share:
- Don't be caught up in trying to appear valuable, you already are!
- Don't try to be appealing, be authentic!
I realize that what is of most importance is not how many likes and reposts what we share on LinkedIn matters but being able to engage (learn and teach each other something new), share experiences (no matter how young and unpopular what we do is), and connect. Simple!
All thanks to Emmanuel Misiati for providing me with a stage to engage with more than 76 energetic facilitators.
Kudos to all those who made it to the session.

2. Use data visualizations to make the gender pay gap
clear and compelling.
Types of Visualization to choose from include:
Line graphs can effectively show earnings
trajectories over the course of a career,
highlighting divergences between genders.
Cumulative gap charts (area charts) can vividly
illustrate the growing disparity in total earnings
over time.
Segmented bar charts can show the
percentage difference in earnings at various
career milestones.
Tell the story behind the numbers to show how a
woman is impacted women over a lifetime.
For instance, juxtapose the story of a woman's
career with the broader data trends to illustrate
how systemic issues have concrete personal
impacts.
Visualizing The Gender Pay
Gap

3. Stacked area charts can also visualize the
proportion of women in leadership roles over
time, showing how the composition of leadership
has changed.
Include benchmark lines or shaded areas to
represent goals or averages (e.g., the UN’s gender
parity targets) to contextualize the progress or
lack thereof within each sector.
Use case studies of specific organizations,
countries, or industries that have seen significant
progress or faced notable challenges. This adds
depth to the data, making the narrative more
engaging and relatable.
Create pyramid visuals or sankey diagrams to
illustrate the funneling effect as women progress
towards leadership roles, highlighting the “leaky
pipeline” and the “glass ceiling” effect in various
fields.
Tracking Women's
Leadership Representation

4. Start by clearly defining what constitutes unpaid
labor, such as domestic chores, caregiving for
children or elderly relatives, and volunteer work
within communities. This establishes a common
understanding for your audience.
Assign an economic value to unpaid labor using
models that estimate an hourly wage for the types
of work being performed. This can make the
contribution of unpaid labor tangible by translating
it into familiar economic terms.
Line graphs or area charts can illustrate the
cumulative economic value of women's unpaid
labor over time or across different regions.
Include anecdotes or testimonials from women
discussing the impact of unpaid labor on their lives,
career choices, and economic opportunities. This
adds a human element to the data, making it more
relatable.
Quantifying The Impact Of
Women's Unpaid Labour

5. Tracking Health and Access
to Care
4
Choose specific health issues where gender
disparities are evident, such as maternal health,
mental health, life expectancy, or prevalence of
certain diseases. This focus will help your audience
grasp the extent of disparities.
Gather data that showcases disparities in health
outcomes, access to care, and treatment efficacy
between genders. Segment this data by other
intersecting factors such as age, race, socio-economic
status, and geographic location to uncover layered
disparities.
Use bar charts or line graphs to compare health
metrics between genders across various conditions
or healthcare services. For example, a line graph
could illustrate the gender gap in survival rates for
heart disease over several years.
Include personal stories to make the abstract data
more tangible and emotionally resonant, driving
home the urgency of addressing these issues.
www.annmurraybrown.com
6. Give an explanation that workplace equality
encompasses: pay equity, representation in leadership
positions, equality in hiring practices, and opportunities
for advancement.
Employ bar charts and line graphs to compare pay by
gender and ethnicity within the same job roles or
industry sectors. A stacked bar chart could illustrate the
composition of company leadership or workforce
diversity over time.
Create a timeline or before-and-after visuals to showcase
changes in workplace equality metrics following policy
implementations or diversity initiatives. Point out both
improvements and areas where progress has stalled.
Compare your organization's or industry’s data against
national averages, industry standards, or equality goals.
This contextualizes your story within a broader narrative.
Include personal stories or testimonials from employees
who have benefited from equality measures or faced
barriers.
Workplace Equality

7. Employ various types of visualizations to tell a more
compelling story:
Line graphs to show trends over time, highlighting
changes before and after policy enactment.
Bar charts to compare key metrics across genders
or different policy environments.
Maps to illustrate geographic disparities and the
regional effectiveness of policies.
Use before-and-after data visuals to show the
effectiveness of gender-focused policies in education,
healthcare, and employment
Besides quantitative data, incorporate qualitative
analysis on how such policies have altered societal
norm.
Include specific case studies or examples where gender-
focused policies have led to significant outcomes.
Personal stories or testimonials can add a powerful
narrative layer to the data, making the impact more
relatable.
Impact of Gender-focused
Policies

8. Education and
Empowerment
7
Give the context to your story by framing the
global or regional context of education
disparities and their impact on empowerment.
Highlight why education is crucial for personal
and societal empowerment.
Use bar charts or line graphs to illustrate gender
disparities in various educational metrics. A gap
analysis visualization can effectively show
differences in educational outcomes between
genders over time or across different regions.
Employ time-series visualizations to
demonstrate changes in educational
attainment and access over time.
Weave in personal anecdotes or case studies
that bring the data to life. Stories of individuals
who have overcome barriers to education or
who have been empowered through learning
can make your narrative more relatable and
compelling.
www.annmurraybrown.com
9. Create a dashboard-style visualization that
gives an at-a-glance overview of progress
across multiple gender goals. This could
include metrics like gender parity in education,
economic participation, political
representation, and access to health services.
Use choropleth maps to show progress by
country or region. This geographical approach
helps identify global patterns and disparities,
spotlighting regions leading in gender equality
efforts and those lagging behind.
Compare progress across different goals using
bar charts or radar charts. This comparative
view can help prioritize efforts by showing
where the most significant gaps remain.
Include quotes from global leaders, activists, or
individuals directly impacted by gender-
focused policies. This adds depth and personal
perspective to the data.
Monitoring Global Gender
Goal Progress
8
www.annmurraybrown.com
10. In Conclusion...
The power of data storytelling for achieving gender
equality and equity cannot be overstated.
By transforming raw data into compelling narratives,
advocates and policymakers can illuminate the
nuanced realities of gender disparities, making the
abstract tangibly impactful.
Data stories transcend mere statistics, weaving facts
into narratives that resonate on a human level,
compelling action, and fostering empathy.
