Data Manipulation Language (DML) is a subset of SQL (Structured Query Language) that is used to manage and manipulate data stored in a relational database management system (RDBMS). DML consists of a set of SQL commands that enable users to retrieve, insert, update, and delete data within a database. Here are the primary DML commands and their descriptions: SELECT: The SELECT statement is used to retrieve data from one or more database tables. It allows you to specify which columns to retrieve, apply filters to the data, and sort the results. INSERT: The INSERT statement is used to add new rows of data into a table. You specify the table, the columns, and the values to be inserted. UPDATE: The UPDATE statement is used to modify existing data in a table. You specify the table, the columns to be updated, the new values, and a WHERE clause to determine which rows to update. DELETE: The DELETE statement is used to remove rows from a table based on specified conditions. It does not return the deleted data; it simply removes it from the table. These DML commands are essential for interacting with databases and managing data within them. They allow users to perform a wide range of operations, from simple data retrieval to complex data transformations.
