Essay on A Call for Uniforms at PenArgyl High School
As stated in the Morning Call on January 11, 2013, Uniforms will reduce bullying, teasing and
disruption while also being a cheaper alternative for poor parents who struggle every year to afford
new school clothes for their children (Esack). Much like the Allentown Area School District,
incorporating uniforms needs to be a priority for Pen Argyl High School. Not only will students have
better attendance once uniforms are required, but one can also expect school achievement to increase.
The enacting of a uniform rule by the Pen Argyl School District geared towards the high school would
halt bullying in our school, eliminate questionable dress code violations, and make all students and
personnel easily identifiable when present in the high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, if uniform wearing was an required component of Pen Argyl High School, student priorities
would be focused on the more appropriate topic of academics rather than the fad of fashion trends;
leading to more student awareness and less bullying, or attention to student clothing, throughout the
school day. In addition to the apparent bullying over style trends and choices, another issue that could
be eliminated through the incorporation of uniforms is the lessening of disciplinary action directed
towards students for dress code violations. Almost daily, students are sent to the office for dress code
checks which are most often handled by the Vice Principal. Students are commonly sent for checks
based on the following items that are considered questionable: midriff revealing tops, ripped and low
rise jeans, short skirts and shorts, exposed shoulders and necklines and spandex for the girls. Then
there are ill fitting jeans and inappropriate slogans on t shirts and sweatshirts for the boys. A uniform
policy would eliminate the need for dress code checks, which would enable the vice principal to
concentrate on more important issues within the high school. Not only would uniforms eliminate this
disciplinary issue of student dress, but the incorporation of a uniform policy would better prepare

The New Pow Wow Step Essay
Postmedia News released an article named A Tribe Called Red Bring Culture, Politics to Club Music
in November 5, 2012 by a Stuart Derdeyn. The article presents a view into the underground world of
Pow Wow Step , which is a recently new trend in genre due to the popularity of electronic music .This
recent genre is presented by a group named in the title, A Tribe Called Red (or ATCR) are involved in
the intricacy of traditional views of Native culture and contemporary views, which incorporates both
of these elements by having the perspective of the concept that culture has to evolve with the change
that we have in our modern era. The group approaches their music with the intent to blend their
cultures, there is no either/or that asks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be understandable from a certain view, perhaps from the older generations, who hold on to
their ways and do not realize the changes in the culture around them. I personally have encountered
this in my own tribe (Navajo), when a group of Navajo rappers began to perform in their native
language at public events; it was both embraced and denied (mostly by the older age bracket). The
music earned its authenticity in some ways, such as introducing non natives to our culture and
exposing the language to the younger generations, who have lost it. It seemed to have gained a new
type of authenticity as something new to both young and old audiences. I observe that ATCR is
something similar, that it will be readily accepted by the electronic groups, because of the genres
already existing diversity, and accepted by the traditional means by being something new and apart of
the culture. The group embraces urban living as well as where they grew up, and acknowledge both
cultures as a part of who each member are and know their identity and embrace it by creating music,
and performing it. ATCR concede that there is a difference in identity by establishing some boundaries
between dance music ( jingle dance ) and sacred songs ( honor songs ) to cause no disrespect to their
traditions . They see the traditions that must hold and they seem to also see the definition of their
culture changing, and they are a part of it. And the group seeks out to educate

Symbols In The Crucible
Puritan societies in the late 17th century were very strict and when someone stepped out of line, they
were severely punished. The first thing that often comes to mind when one thinks of a crucible is the
little ceramic pot that is heated to high temperatures. However, the word crucible has three different
meanings. The first is the familiar ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may
be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. The other two are less familiar a crucible is also a
place or occasion of severe test or trial as well as a place or situation in which different elements
interact to produce something new. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, all three of those definitions are
explored through plot. While readers follow the Salem Witch trials, it is understood how severe tests
are trials are occurring, and different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters are shown in a crucible that is on a fire with Satan in it. Satan is shown in the fire
because the girls causing the witch trials are believed to be possessed by Satan. He is thought to take
the form of woman now in jail and tried to win [the girl s] soul[s] away. (99) He is causing the girls to
go into fits and act strangely. Inside of the crucible represents a place of severe test where the
characters and new events are mixing to produce a new society. Puritan societies were very strict and
something this big had never happened before, and people are being tested. People are lying and
interacting in new ways. Miller explains that when the elements of people s moral rights and
malevolence are mixed just right society becomes a congerie of plots and counterplots (34), which is
exactly what happened in Salem. It is shown in the crucible a disorderly society of people being
falsely accused and hanged. Overall, inside the crucible is a society that is being severely tested and

In this paper, we will review one of the graph database (Neo4j), which the graph database is part of
the emerging technology that is called NoSQL and compared it with one of the traditional relational
databases (MySQL). MySQL, it is being another name for Relational Databases and it has been used
for a long time period until now. However, with the emergence of Big Data there was clearly a need
for more flexible databases. Facebook s Graph Search use Neo4j, a graph database, is an application
which clearly displays how relationships need to be modeled in a more efficient and sophisticated
manner than using conventional relational models. In this paper, we will make a comparison between
MySQL and Neo4j based on the features like ACID, replication, availability and the language that is
used in both of them.
Keywords: RDBMS, NoSQL, Relational Databases, MySQL, Neo4j, ACID.

The Australian Red Cross Blood Service Essay
1. Context and Problem
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) has identified a long standing issue of poor repeat
blood donation from young donors, in particular males. While this group of the population has a high
number of new donors, it has been found they are also the least loyal, which poses a problem for both
current and future blood stocks. As a marketing consultancy firm, we have been commissioned to
analyse the issues surrounding blood donation in Australia, and to devise three cost effective
marketing strategies aimed at increasing repeat donation from this demographic.
2. Literature Review
The topic of blood donation well researched, with strategies having been devised to try and increase
donation rates all over the world. Australia faces a challenging set of circumstances, in which
remuneration for donation is illegal (ARCBS, 2013). It is thought this may be a contributing factor to
the poor repeat donation rates in youth demographics, for whom altruism is no longer a primary
driving factor when considering donation (Russell Bennett, Hartel, Previte Russel, 2012).
Since the iconic work by Titmuss (1970), blood donation has been considered one of the only true
altruistic behaviours, and many marketing strategies have been engineered around this concept.
Several authors, however, have argued that blood donation is not a case of true altruism , and is
actually a case of impure altruism , whereby the donor receives personal utility and improvement

If fixed expense were 600,000 in year 1 and variable costs would remain at 50% for all four years,

Saturday Value Play Analysis
Eight games are are back in action this Saturday in the NBA. Today s slate provides a solid mix of
high scoring totals and key defensive matchups for us to target and exploit in our DFS lineups. Let s

is in this midst of one his most productive stretches of this season, having double doubled in six of the
past seven games. The matchup today against the Knicks is about as good as it gets, with Jose
Calderon performing as one of the worst defending point guards in the NBA. New York ranks in the
bottom five in FanDuel points allowed to opposing point guards over the past three weeks. Wall has a
great chance to earn his third straight triple double today at home. Shelvin Mack @ CHI, $6,200: Over

Inhumanity In Tuesdays With Morrie And Night
There is only one way in which one can endure man s inhumanity to man and that is to try, in one s
own life, to exemplify man s humanity to man Alan Paton. Neither of the characters in Tuesdays with
Morrie by Mitch Albom, and Night by Elie Wiesel, had a choice about the inhumanity they faced. One
was cursed with a fatal disease and the other was put in a death camp. Even though both of the main
characters, Morrie and Elie, experienced copious amounts of inhumanity, they both found it in them to
be humane. Both Tuesdays with Morrie and Night deal with cases of inhumanity and get through it by
being humane to others.

car. He was then given a number and stripped from his identity. The Nazis continually called him
worthless and a pig. Elie questioned how anyone could be humane in a situation like this and said,
Humanity? Humanity is not concerned with us. Today anything is allowed. Anything is possible, even
these crematories (30), but despite all of the trauma and inhumanity Elie faced on a daily basis, he was
humane to his father. Elie did everything in his power to stay alive for his father, similiar in a way to
Mitch in Tuesdays with Morrie. Elie showed humanity to his father. In the beginning when they had to
march everywhere, Shlomo, Elie s father, struggled with it. Like Morrie, Elie taught Shlomo how to
march and to not get in trouble. Elie wanted the best for his father. When Elie s father was on his
deathbed, Elie brought him food and water, even though Elie himself was starving. Elie did not give in
to the inhumanity that was brought upon him. Elie chose to rise above it, just as Morrie

The United States Transition From Age Of Sail
The United States Transition from Age of Sail to Steam and Steel Navy
William Hunt, the secretary of the Navy in 1881, once wrote: the conditions of the Navy imperatively
demand the prompt and earnest attention of Congress. Unless some action be had in its behalf it must
soon dwindle into insignificance. Without technology advancements or change, the Navy would soon
fall apart. The Age of Sail lasted from about the sixteenth century through the mid nineteenth century.
It was a time in which our nation was fighting with wooden ships stacked with canons, and
underdeveloped technology. Slowly, this started to change. As a country, the need for change began in
the mid nineteenth century, before the Civil War. The first of these ... Show more content on

Although it was innovative it was not optimally efficient, nor abundant. In 1815, the entire United
States naval force consisted of 18 warships the USS Independence, a 90 gun ship of the line, 5
frigates, 2 sloops of war, 7 brigantines and 3 schooners (Potts). The entire U.S. Navy consisted of
eighteen warships which they soon realized was not enough and motivated them to advance their
technology.
After the War of 1812, to aid sea commerce and whaling fleet efforts that followed the whale
migration around the globe, the United States needed new ships to fight the British. The first USS
Yorktown was commissioned in 1840 and it was the most advanced ship of its time during the Age of
Sail . It included three masts, eighteen sails, tactically placed canons, lifeboats, and anchors. While the
U.S. were launching this vessel, Great Britain was rapidly advancing their technology into a steel and
steam navy. The Napoleonic Wars left Great Britain as the most powerful naval country in the world.
No two of their rivals combined came even close to competing with the Royal Navy. With that, the
United States Navy was inspired as well as threatened by the technology advances, and they too
sought change. Time was not the only factor that was decisive on the progressions. The need for new
and more efficient methods was the driving factor. Robert Fulton, the builder of the first steam
powered warship,

The Psychology Of Conversion Therapy
What Conversation Therapy Actually Does
While reading Hard Rock Return to Prison by Etheridge Knight one may start to think of the effects of
correcting or convert someone s behavior to a more favorable one. This idea is present in today s
society and to better understand this believe and practice one will have to explore the psychology of
conversion therapy. Conversion Therapy or reparative therapy is a range of dangerous and discredited
practices that falsely claim to change a person s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression
(Human Rights Campaign). This defines what Hard Rock experiences in this poem and to further
understand and deepen ones understand modern psychology and medicine offer a way of explain this.

psychology and psychiatry. David Michael Conner, a writer for the Huffington Post in the LGBQ
department, explains conversion therapy as the following It involves electrocuting and drugging
LGBT people to make them suffer while looking at homosexual pornography in order to convert them
to heterosexuality (Conner). Those who are homosexual are tortured in attempts to correct them of

John Stuart Mill Harm Principle
The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized
community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others [14]. In John Stuart Mill s On Liberty, his
harm principle addresses interference in other people s actions. He contends that the exercise of power
over others is only justified when preventing harm. It is important to keep in mind that some harm is
acceptable, but an action that infringes on another s interests should be prevented and punished.
In accordance with Mill s description of his harm principle, the statement that protecting liberty
through this principle prioritizes the development of individuality over social progress is somewhat
valid. It is only somewhat valid because Mill prioritizes the self development of the individual in order
to help society progress rather than instead of the progression of society. He believes that freedom is
designed to protect individualism and that in a state of nature there would be no social contract
because of the concept of social good. This concept conveys that because people receive protection
from society then they owe a specific behavior in return.
Mill justifies the conservation of originality with the object of personal wellbeing and societal good.
His justification reveals the way that, in preventing harm, he prioritizes the preservation of the
individual to better the progression of society.
Mill stresses the importance of originality when he proposes

Companies manufacturing these drugs then work around this by lobbying their drugs as cures for
Alzheimer, ADHD, ADD, dementia, dyslexia, and other cognitive defects. In the 1960s and 70s, the

them awake and aware for longer periods, while in the United States these amphetamines such as
methamphetamine and cocaine became a recreational drug used in parties and a way to be cool .
Compare this with today s cognitive enhancing smart drug, which is still an amphetamine: the military
is testing these smart drugs on soldiers to make them more effective with less sleep and prolonged
battle and in the States, people use them off label to avoid jetlag or to write 9 page papers in 2 hours.
In both these scenes, these drugs have received little coverage until they became popular and their
effects became realized. The effects of chronic, high doses of amphetamine are toxic; it can cause
psychosis, depression and cognitive deficits, which are sometimes irreversible , says Maia Szalavitz of

The movie Thirteen Days is 2000 docudrama and is directed by Roger Donaldson who is Australian

Benjamin Svetkey asked Kevin Costner about John F. Kennedy s first words were when he heard
about the missiles in Cuba apparently he said were F ed again and Costner explained that not
everything could be one hundred percentage historically accurate due to age ratings of the film. This
makes less historical and more entertainment, this shows that the film is being made for entertainment
purposes because they are changing the film to increase the audience size.
Thirteen Days has more historical inaccuracies when it comes to the Kennedys. This is because the
film makes the Kennedys look iconic with the black and white scenes and through portraying them as
the good guys through the whole film and having the military advisors seem like the bad guys. This
film shows Robert F. Kennedy taking a more front seat role then he actually did. Thirteen Days may
portray the Kennedys like this, but throughout the whole of John F. Kennedy s presidency he always
needed extensive medical treatment and this was the same through the Cuban Missile Crisis as well,
The Travell records show that during the 13 days in October of 1962.... Kennedy took his usual doses
of anti Spasmodics to control his colitis, antibiotics for a flare up of his urinary tract problem and a
bout of sinusitis. The film does not highlight Kennedy need for this medication to be able to function
and deal with the crisis.

The Psychoanalytic Theories Of Freud s Theory
Personality is what makes people who they are. Some people have different personalities others have
very similar personalities; but nobody s personality is exactly the same. In the past many people have
tried to understand personality and explain it through theories. This paper, will discuss the differences
between the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Adler. It will then show
the characteristics of which I agree with as well as the characteristics that I disagree with.
Furthermore, it will describe the stages of Freud s theory and explain the characteristics of personality
using these components; And finally, I will describe uses of three Freudian defense mechanisms by
using real life examples.
In regard to the psychoanalytical theories of Freud, Jung and Adler, there are several similarities;
however, there are also several differences. Freud s theory focuses on the sexual perspective of the
mind. In his theory, the three basic components are id, ego, and superego. Jung s theory is to Adler, the
neuroses consists in the effort for the individual to overcome the feeling of inferiority, and the outward
signs and symptoms are the manifestations of those dexterities developed to this end. The Adlerian
concept serves to bridge the gap between the organists and the functionalists (White, 1917). Jung and
Adler were associated with Freud and took excessive interest in his theory of psychoanalysis.

person s upbringing, beliefs, and values are usually made up by culture and can remain throughout a
person s life giving us each our own unique identity. In Search of April Raintree explores the life
journey of trouble young Metis woman in her quest to search out her identity.
There is a great importance to communal belonging in every culture. The beliefs and values that exist
in us as adults are usually because of each of our own cultural upbringings. Although some people
might affirm their inherent cultural affiliations and traditions and remain within their cultural
community of origin, others may choose to search for, and find membership in a new one. Because
April Raintree was by people of Christian faith and culture during her time in foster homes. Her time

Gatsby Women
The simple life of the Gatsby women I m p paralyzed with happiness is just one of the stereotypes of a
woman in the 1920 s. In Scott F. Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, there is an often ignored view of the
women s perspective. It brings attention to how women have no expectations to go far in life, or have
a reason for life besides, to reproduce. The absurd thing is that the women don t have any interest to
break out of the stereotype, and try to make a life for themselves. Throughout the story, Daisy
Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson are treated as possessions rather than humans. The female
character first mentioned is Daisy, a perfect example of a woman in the 1920 s. She is married to Tom,
and has a daughter Pammy, who doesn t have a job, and is very flirtatious. In The Great Gatsby, Daisy
has always been in the upper class so to speak, so she doesn t know what it is like to not get her way,
and has never settled for anything less. When she sees Gatsby s shirts, Daisy says They re such
beautiful shirts, she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. It makes me sad because I ve never
seen such such beautiful shirts before. (Fitzgerald,118). What is meant by Daisy crying over the shirts,
is that it shows that she has finally found a lifestyle that is greater than her current one. It makes her
sad when she sees the shirts because she knows that it s a lifestyle that she has always wanted, but has
never had the chance to have until this point, so she is upset, because she knows that she would be
risking everything if she chose this life. It also shows, that women can be overdramatic in situations
that should have little to no effect on a male.
In addition, Daisy also believes it is better to be dumb than to be knowledgeable as a woman. Growing
up Daisy had come from a wealthy family, and has never known poverty. She says in chapter 5 All
right, I said, I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best thing a girl can be in this
world, a beautiful little fool. (118). She hopes this is for her daughter because she believes if you don t
confront the issue, everything will be the same, and nothing will change. Daisy herself is being

Shot Duration Essay
The synopsis of the film is a worker who doesn t sleep so much, discovers a black hole in the window.
It was written and directed by Mr. Phil Samson and Mr. Olly Williams. Shot duration is 22seconds and
the entire plot is 3 minutes.
Shots breakdown of the film
Shot #1 (MCU; straight on): the shot begins by introducing the main character of the film, and shows
us the extent to which he is desperate for a better life. This is seen through the angle of shoulder,
which is slightly withdrawn from the body. The background sound being heard is that of the
photocopying machine.
Shot #2 (LS; slightly high angle): The round helps show the viewers that the movie is set in a type of
office as the buttresses match the scenery, you can see reception desk and workstations and the main
actor is also wearing a formal cloths like shirt as well as tie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Shot #3 (CU at the start, MLS at the end; straight on): The third shot establishes the main character,
whereby the top button of his shirt is unfastened, his messy hair and his bored and tired expression can
be seen.
This countenances the audience to express sympathy with the actor, they are also able to narrate to
him, as they have felt like he does at one point in time. Additionally, they will enjoy the movie more
as they will feel linked to the appeal.
Shot #4 (MLS at the start, straight on, low angled shot)The fourth shot used in this short film is an eye
line match, the main character who stereotypically is a male, stood at the photocopier earlier, he is
photocopying something and that we see him push the copier button angrily.
The usage of low angle shot here is real at proving the appeals standing, the low angle makes the actor
appear greater and more leading, which is a conventional trait of males is films. Men are largely
portrayed to be sturdy and main

My Dream Job At The Nike Outlet
As people grow from their adolescent years, to their adult years, one of the hardest ideas they have to
come up with is what their future will look like. Many are set on the idea of being rich, having a nice
house and car, and having the luxury life. But in reality, very few are actually like that. As a junior in
high school I started to look for a part time job as i was interested in the aspect of money. My dream
job since I was about 8 was to work at the Nike outlet in Centralia, Washington. So long story short, I
applied and applied over and over and eventually got the call during August 2015. Even though

Cost can also depend on if you attend a two year school to get your basic classes out of the way. The
average cost of a bachelor s degree at a public four year school would be $22,261, compared to a
private school where the price jumps to $43,289. Again, the cost depends on what school you attend.
Because of my interest in continuing an athletic career on the baseball field, where I attend school is
limited. With my interest in being both on the academic and athletic fields, my choices are narrowed.
If I were to choose my perfect path it would be attending a two year school to get my basic studies
done cheaper, and then after those two years, I would like to attend a four year school to finish up my
degree in business. Many of the requirements to get into the schools I would look at attending require
a high school diploma and then specific requirements for each school after that. With what I have done
as a student in the classroom, I have met or exceeded some requirements to receive admission into
colleges. With the training that I hope to receive while attending school to get my bachelor s in

have, to garner a job in the field of business. Skills typically needed to be in the sales management

The Negative Effects Of Corporal Punishment On Children
Among the various forms of children punishments, corporal punishment has been revealed to be an
ineffective form of correction due to the negative consequences associated with it. Corporal
punishment involves subjecting children to physical pain as a corrective measure to prevent them from
engaging in inappropriate behaviors. This is a type of power assertive method of discipline where
children are subjected to punishments without explanation or justification. They grow up in fear of the
consequences of corporal punishment rather than understanding the right from the wrong. The
consequences associated with physical punishment include both physical and emotional abuse that has
adverse effects on the growth and development of children. As a result of corporal punishments,
children are often left with disabilities or bad medical conditions in case of injuries during
punishment. The children are also abused emotionally through the vulgar language that is often used
by the parents during the administration of the punishments. This physical and emotional abuses that
children are subjected to makes them lead a disturbed life in future. The recommended approach of
discipline is therefore the inductive method where the children are guided with explanation and
justification in case of punishments in order to understand rather than fear the reason behind the
punishment. Physical punishment is determined to have adverse effects that impact negatively on the
self esteem of a child.

Observing The Preoperational Stage Essay
Observing the Preoperational Stage This past week I had the opportunity to conduct several
conservation tasks with children at the Rainbow and Rhymes Preschool. I decided to perform two
conservation tasks to each child which are a conservation of number and conservation of mass. The
professor provided us with the scripts for both tasks and I did the best to replicate the tasks that were
described in the book on pages 139 to 141. Based on the readings and class discussions, I had a
hypothesis about the results of the two tasks that I planned to replicate. I hypothesized that the older
children would be able to perform well on both tasks than the younger children who would perform
well in one task or the other. I believe this because of centration, older children might have less

The Controversial Queen Mary I Queen Of England
Mary I Queen of England was a very controversial queen. She is remembered for the prosecutions she
set in place against the people of Protestant faith. When in fact Mary I Queen of England was a good
queen that suffered many hardships through her early childhood, her fight for the crown, and even her
life during her reign. Mary s early childhood came with a mix of emotions from her father, King
Henry VIII. Mary was the first child to King Henry, he was very happy when she was born in 1516
even though she was a girl. To show how much Henry loved Mary he appointed four people from his
staff to simple rock her cradle when she was sleeping, along with other extravagant gifts, even though

When the body notices the changes it will interpret it as a real pregnancy and will start to release
hormones familiar with pregnancy, making you believe you are pregnant. New research is starting to
show that a women with many relationship problems can be at a higher risk to have a phantom
pregnancy. This is a good explanation as to why Queen Mary had at least two phantom pregnancies.
She had such a complicated relationship with her father, and she was in great need for an heir to the
throne, she could have convinced herself she was pregnant. She also had a very complicated
relationship with her husband, who only came to England when he had to. He was not in love with
Mary like she was in love with him. He was very unpopular in England and he knew no one liked him.
The people knew that a relationship with Spain meant war with France, and England did not want that.
Mary s emotions controlled her political obligations, knowing she should have chosen another
husband to avoid war with France, but her feelings for Philip overtook her control. While she was in
the midst of her phantom pregnancies, May was still trying to restore the Catholic faith in England.
Mary believed that the way to do this was to charge the Protestant rulers with crimes and burn them at
the stake. As a result over 300 people were burned at the stake, she also had to take care of the people
who tried to keep her off the throne in the beginning. In January 155 John Hooper, John Rogers and
John Cardmaster, were arrested and burned at the stake after refusing to stop their crimes against the
crown. She did however find Jane Grey guilty of treason but refused to kill her, instead she was kept
in a tower until her death. After she heard that there was an attempt to place her sister Elizabeth on the
throne, Mary arrested Elizabeth and placed her at Woodstock. She was in disgrace with the queen until
April 1555 when Mary wanted

Morality In The Road
The Road is an interesting novel that has added to my perspective of morality and how it is explored
in literature. Many books talk about morality, some are specifically about this topic but most tend to
integrate moral questions into their plot. The Road differs in many ways from other books that explore
moral questions. The Road s plot has less action than many books, lending more of its pages to deeper
discussions of morality after each event. When exploring the topic of the frailty of morality many
books came at the topic in different ways. The stories that explored this topic the most were not
apocalypse stories, but rather dystopian ones. One common thread to many of these stories is the
journey to a goal, where that journey strains the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having smaller characters may seem to take away from a story but it actually adds to the narrative.
The man and boy s goal isn t to save the world, they are just focused on survival. In Invisible Man, the
main character is fighting for equality and to change an entire system. In V for Vendetta, V manages to
collapse the government while accepting the inevitable deaths that will result. By making The Road
smaller in scale, the decisions the characters make and the effects are more detailed, personal and
thought provoking. The characters are not on a journey that must succeed for the greater good. They
must face the morality of their actions without being able to hide behind how important their quest is.
At one point in The Road the man kills a scavenger to save his son s life. This is justified and most
stories would pass over this as a necessary action. Later, after traveling many miles away from where
the incident happened, the boy asks the father if they are still the good guys (p. 77). By making the
characters no more important than anyone else, actions become harder to defend and need to be
addressed in more detail. In many stories spending so much time on the morality of something that is
done and can t be changed would seem out of place. The Road does not give excuses for the characters
actions and always has the

Personal Statement For Girl Child Education
When you educate a woman, you educate a nation. This quote has been an inspiration and a

education has built my character and has taught me very many things about life that I intend to extend

in Uganda and Africa, but the world at large. This is due to the fact that Africa has very few influential

The Investigation Middle Miocene Rocks Of Siwa Oasis...
VI.2 Paleoecology and paleoenvironment: The investigated Middle Miocene rocks of Siwa Oasis
contain a rich macroinvertebrate fauna. A total of 1,618 sample were collected, dominated by oysters
(58.03%), pectinids (12.54%), echinoids (5.68%), bivalves (14.77%), and gastropods (8.96%) (Fig.
39). Instead of their great abundance they surprisingly show a low diversity, and they are randomly
distributed all over the successions (Figs.12, 13, 15, 17). But it is noticeable that the Oasis and
Escarpment Member are more favorable for oysters and pectinids, while El Diffa Plateau Member was
dominated by gastropods (Fig. 12). In order to understand the paleoecology and paleoenvironment of
the Middle Miocene time of Siwa Oasis a detailed investigation of the abovementioned faunal groups
will be discussed.
VI.2.1 Oysters They are the most dominant element of the benthic community in the Miocene of

themselves onto the substrate by their left valves. Most cementing bivalves are found in shallow water
environments having depths of less than 35 m (Kauffmann, 1969). Modern oysters are typically

normal marine water (35 ppt salinity) (Loosanoff, 1965). They are very tolerant organisms, able

The Effects Of Sex Hormones On The Development Of...
Abstract
Gender differences have been recorded by researches from single neurons in the cell to system level
processes (Cahill 2006), and certain scientists proposed that sex hormones influence the development
of prefrontal cortex, and this is supposed to be the cause of the differences in working memory
performance (Duff Hampson, 2001). This study further investigated the existence and nature of this
gender difference. A sample of 497 Monash University psychology undergraduates (385 females and
112 males; ages 18 64) were recruited for this study. Working memory performance was tested with
online spatial working memory test, and 2D:4D finger length ratio was used as an indirect measure of
sex hormone levels. The results revealed no sex differences in the working memory performance, but
variance in 2D:4D ratio females had a larger ratio than males. Memory reaction time was negatively
correlated with 2D:4D ratio, thus, females had a quicker reaction time.
Introduction
Differences related to gender in spatial memory are most widely described and studied of cognitive
sex differences. In 1974 Maccoby and Jacklin established that males usually perform better than
females in measures of spatial performance, and this discovery has been constantly replicated in
multiple studies covering various developmental stages (McGivern et al. 1997; Lewin et al. 2001) and
spatial tasks (Dabbs Jr. et al. 1998; Driscoll et al. 2005).

A literary Analysis of Jack London three most recognized works, Sea Wolf; The Call of the Wild; and

Jack London lived a full life, even though he died at the young age of forty. In his life time he
experienced many things, and I believe that these experiences were the catalyst of his novels. Jack
London was an oyster pirate, a government patrolman in San Francisco Bay, a sailor and an agrarian
reformer, a seal hunter in the North Pacific and a gold prospector in the frozen Klondike, a war
correspondent and a prizefighting reporter, a socialist soapbox orator who later became a lecturer at

Baroque Period, during which a few of the greatest composers on this planet were born, brought
classical music onto a whole new level. The word Baroque , which came from the Portuguese for the
imperfect pearl , implies strange, extravagant and overblown. Toccata, fugue, chorale, ortario, and the
concerto Grosso, all of these special musical forms were created and represent this period. The six
main characteristics: increased emotional expression, contrast, use of basso continuo, continued
harmonic development, use of ornament, and the emphasis of improvisation, molded the unique style
of music of the Baroque period.
First of all, one of the most important characteristics of music in this period was the increased
emotional expression. During the Renaissance, emotions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At this period, composers rarely wrote out ornaments because they expected performers to add them
on their own. Thus, sometimes the same piece sounds different because performers add ornaments on
their own. Additionally, long treaties about proper usage of ornaments were written.
Finally, the last element is the emphasis on improvisation: the ability to extemporaneously compose
on an existing melody. This is often considered as a chance to show off for the performers. Through
improvisations and ornaments which were both elaborated by the extemporaneously composition of
performers added interest and differences between music and even the same piece of music might
sound different.
All of these elements constructed the unique structure and texture of the Baroque music. Without any
one of them, music would not be as interesting as it is now, and the signature of each composer and
characteristic of each piece would not be as different as they are now. Through understanding these
characteristics, one can further understand the texture of Baroque music and understand what the
composer thought while composing this

Canadian Society Vs Collectivist Society
Canada is more of an collectivist society than an individualist society. Within a collectivist society a
group s interest is above an individual s self interest. These set of principles are focused on providing
programs and public services to help the community, the programs and services are usually provided
by the government which are paid with by the taxpayers money.
A program that benefits all individuals within the Canadian society, could be the universal healthcare.
Which helps provides health care insurance to all Canadian citizens, no matter the income, race,

Propaganda Used In 1984
1984, a book written by George Orwell provides an inside look to the future of a perfect totalitarian
society. In this picture perfect society Big Brother is the face of the Party. To the citizens of Oceania
he is the leader of the nation and the head of the political group. When it comes to a successful leader,
his regime is a strong structure that wins the approval of the nation. Big Brother is a great example in
this case as he is almost spoken of as a god. As well as Big Brother, Infamous Iraq leader Saddam
Hussein was another high powered head. Hussein also constructed a strong regime that was fairly
similar to Big Brothers. The key connections these two individuals have in their regimes are their
methods of control. These methods consist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Big Brother and Saddam Hussein used propaganda in very effective ways. They used advertising
in a way that made them look superior to every other human being. In 1984, Big Brother s propaganda
was a type of comforting reassurance. His propaganda encouraged people to follow him as a leader.
However it was also effective since it was designed to overwhelm the mind s capacity for independent
thought. The giant screen in every citizen s work and home blasted a constant stream of propaganda.
Everywhere they would go, citizens were continuously reminded that BIG BROTHER IS
WATCHING YOU, This led individuals to believe that Big Brother was closer to some type of god.
Big Brother also used Oceania s nation Eurasia to attract citizens. In comparison to this method,
Saddam Hussein used his propaganda to have the nation of Iraq favor him over others. As well as Big
Brother, Hussein used rival nations in his propaganda to attract citizens. He down played countries
such as the US in order to gain the support of other Arab countries. However, as well as Hussein s
attempts to rope in the support of others he also frightened citizens into following him as a leader. He
did this by showcases events such as public hanging or embarrassment. This can be seen as
propaganda focused towards citizens with opposing thought. The different methods of propaganda
were quite effective for both political

Prime Minister Corruption
Prime Ministers receive significant responsibility once they are elected into power and whilst
managing that intense pressure is where corruption takes place. The concept of one person having all
the power has been in the world for decades now and yet, the outcome is always the same: degrading
integrity and crookedness. In some of the most severe examples, there has even been death involved.
Although, Canada s Parliament has not reached that point of harshness and might never, corruption
has taken place within our government and as a result of this, public policy has suffered. As the polls
on election night come to a close, the title of Prime Minister is granted to one person who receives the
opportunity to run their country. The notion of giving one individual such intense power has created a
downfall within our society and therefore causing damage in areas of public policy that one person
cannot be fully knowledgeable in thus leading to corruption. When a Prime Minsters enters office,
they become the face of our entire nation, including people who voted for them and even those against
them. Therefore, their decisions and actions should benefit everyone, but it does not always work that
way. When an individual has the chance to grasp the severity of their power, the outcome tends to
decrease their integrity and honesty. This statement applies to our Prime Ministers. Citizens and
passionate supporters contribute to this severe power trip because they create the notion that

Extant Textual Analysis Essay
The last parliamentary election in Kuwait was held on July 28th of 2013. The call for candidates to
declare their candidacy was announced 40 days earlier. WC represented 3% of the total candidates (8
out of 310). The Kuwaiti tweets posted over those 40 days were searched and retrieved using a Twitter
search through the analytics engine of Topsy.com. This search engine stores all tweets posted since
2006. The names of the eight WC were the search keywords. We retrieved 1520 tweets, in addition to
the tweets posted by the WC themselves, which were separated from the rest of the tweets. The
majority of previous research which has analyzed sentiment towards political candidates on Twitter
has selected particular pre election periods as a time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Luckily, we did not come up with any accounts that are accessible only for followers. In previous
research, the gender of Twitter users was identified through the user s first name (Bamman, et al.
2014; Burger, et al. 2011 Cunha, et al. 2014). However, using only the first name to infer the gender of
a Twitter user was not an option for the present study, as it is not uncommon for Kuwaiti Twitter users,
especially women, to use pseudonyms as their user names. The tweets (unit of analysis) were analyzed
in order to identify the components of both positive and negative attitudes towards the WC. This unit
was coded into three categories: positive, neutral and negative. The coders read each tweet as a whole
in order to determine whether it was in favor of a candidate, against her, or just making a neutral
reference to her. Neutral references included such things as posting a link to a news story in traditional
media, quoting a candidate, and posting an announcement for a candidate s rally or media appearance.
Although such tweets could have been representative of a positive leaning towards a candidate, we
focused our analysis only on the explicit, verbalized political expressions of the tweeters. All tweets
were coded according to the main theme of the opinions expressed. When a tweet had more than one
theme, each

information is lost or stolen. This results in improper access, compromising privacy and
confidentiality of the data, unauthorized viewing of the data, and tampering of the data. Ensure the
strength of the password is strong enough such that it resists brute force attacks. Implement a two
level or multi level authentication while granting remote access to systems containing EPHI. Generate
and use only unique usernames when granting a remote access to a workforce member Unauthorized
access to IT systems, applications and EPHI data by employees while working offsite. Conduct
security workforce awareness and training program prior to granting remote access. The employees
should be granted different levels of access based on their role and job function. Home or other offsite
workstations are left unattended which leads to improper access to EPHI. Establish appropriate
procedures for session termination. Contamination of systems by infected external device which is

Role Of Euphemism In Passover Seder By Hannah Stern
Hannah Stern is a young Jewish girl who lives in New Rochelle, New York. Most of her family that
she attends Passover Seder with at her grandparents house was alive during the Holocaust they were
even put in concentration camps. Hannah dreaded going over there because she is tired of hearing
about the past and is uncomfortable listening to her grandpa Will rant about his experiences in the
concentration camp. Through out the book you really understand how hard it was back the and how
Hannah was so brave for taking Rivkas place in being sent to euphemism for extermination. By the
end of the book you can tell how Hannah has changed her perspective on the past and how it is boring
to listen to her grandpa going on in on what happened back then. The setting starts off in the twenty
first century and ends in the twenty first century, but when Hannah gets from the table to symbolically
open the door for the prophet Elijah, she is transported to Poland in 1942. When Hannah transports to
Poland in 1942 she inhabits the life of Chaya Abramowicz. She tries to tell Chayas aunt and uncle,
Gitl and Shmuel, but they dismiss what she is saying and claims the effects of Chaya s ordeal with
cholrea is making her not think strait and also because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

easy to just give up or get mad and make a big scene, but what I believe what I should do in that
situation is to have faith that I am there for a reason and that God is right beside me guiding me
through each hour of the day. If I forgot the values that my parents have taught me or knowing that
God has a plan for me I probably would not survive in that camp. Even now I try to have reminders
everywhere of to forgive others as God has forgiven us and especially that I am truly grateful for the
time period I was born in and not take granted what I have and what I can

Comparing Nicholas I And Yertle The Turtle
Nicholas I can easily be compared to the story of Yertle the Turtle. Both Yertle and Nicholas have
similar qualities that can be exemplified. Nicholas I and Yertle are power hungry and in their very
different environments, show greed, a bit of arrogance, intolerance and corruption. Yertle the Turtle
began his life as a very happy little turtle. He was king of a nice clean pond , where everyone had
plenty of warm water and enough food to eat.. However, he decided this was not enough. Whether it
be greed or a need to command more power, he wanted to see more than just his one small pond. But I
don t see enough. (stanza 2, line 4) Yertle would do anything to see beyond his one small pond.
Similarly, Nicholas I wanted to control more under his reign in Russia. Both rulers were willing to do
whatever they had to in order to gain the power they craved. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He would stack one turtle on top of another, with no consideration for how any other turtle felt. As
long as Yertle got to see all that he desired, then all was fine with him. Well, not all was fine with the
turtles that were stacked one upon the other. This was very uncomfortable and painful for all the
turtles down on bottom. Nicholas I was similarly intolerant with his army. He was intent on acquiring
a large army, in fact his army grew to approximately one million men. However, the men in Nicholas I
s army were weak, poorly equipped to fight in the battlefield and had no structural

Hippocampus Water Maze
The hippocampus has been known to be the storage center for learning and memory in the brain
(Wirsching et al., 1984). The mapping theory developed by O Keefe and Nadel (1978) and O Keefe
and Conway (1980) proposed that there is a relationship between the hippocampus and storing spatial
information, which allows animals to map out the surrounding area and locate itself in proportion to
its surroundings.
The importance of stimulus load from the environment has been tested with rats in visually altered
mazes to examine the role of muscarinic receptors, or acetylcholine receptors, on using surrounding
visual cues. The results showed that the muscarinic receptors are important for processing visual
discrimination cues to provide the rat with consistent information about the environment; however,
scopolamine injected rats had no improvement with one or more visual cues (Tsui and Drigenberg,
2012). More specifically, the M1 muscarinic receptor, which is located in the forebrain structures
including the hippocampus and cortex, has also been proven to affect place learning and place
discrimination learning in a water maze (Hagan, Jansen, and Broekkamp, ... Show more content on

However, rats injected with scopolamine and had direct placement performed more poorly than those
without scopolamine, which continues to prove scopolamine s block in spatial learning and memory
(Malin et al., 2015). Other studies also prove that indeed learning navigation tasks are impaired by
cholinergic blockades (Sutherland, Whishaw, and Regher, 1982). On the other hand, rats will develop
a non mapping strategy to locate the platform, which is similar to moving the hidden platform in a
water maze (Buresova, Bolhuis, and Bures,

during the passage of the Native Title Bill through Parliament. It mentions as a nation we take a major
step in making a better relationship between the Aboriginal and non Aboriginal people. It recognises
and protects the Aboriginal people s ownership of the land that is rightfully theirs. This is conveyed
when the Prime Minister discusses and the standing they are owed as victims of grave injustice, a

  • 2. Essay on A Call for Uniforms at PenArgyl High School As stated in the Morning Call on January 11, 2013, Uniforms will reduce bullying, teasing and disruption while also being a cheaper alternative for poor parents who struggle every year to afford new school clothes for their children (Esack). Much like the Allentown Area School District, incorporating uniforms needs to be a priority for Pen Argyl High School. Not only will students have better attendance once uniforms are required, but one can also expect school achievement to increase. The enacting of a uniform rule by the Pen Argyl School District geared towards the high school would halt bullying in our school, eliminate questionable dress code violations, and make all students and personnel easily identifiable when present in the high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, if uniform wearing was an required component of Pen Argyl High School, student priorities would be focused on the more appropriate topic of academics rather than the fad of fashion trends; leading to more student awareness and less bullying, or attention to student clothing, throughout the school day. In addition to the apparent bullying over style trends and choices, another issue that could be eliminated through the incorporation of uniforms is the lessening of disciplinary action directed towards students for dress code violations. Almost daily, students are sent to the office for dress code checks which are most often handled by the Vice Principal. Students are commonly sent for checks based on the following items that are considered questionable: midriff revealing tops, ripped and low rise jeans, short skirts and shorts, exposed shoulders and necklines and spandex for the girls. Then there are ill fitting jeans and inappropriate slogans on t shirts and sweatshirts for the boys. A uniform policy would eliminate the need for dress code checks, which would enable the vice principal to concentrate on more important issues within the high school. Not only would uniforms eliminate this disciplinary issue of student dress, but the incorporation of a uniform policy would better prepare students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The New Pow Wow Step Essay Postmedia News released an article named A Tribe Called Red Bring Culture, Politics to Club Music in November 5, 2012 by a Stuart Derdeyn. The article presents a view into the underground world of Pow Wow Step , which is a recently new trend in genre due to the popularity of electronic music .This recent genre is presented by a group named in the title, A Tribe Called Red (or ATCR) are involved in the intricacy of traditional views of Native culture and contemporary views, which incorporates both of these elements by having the perspective of the concept that culture has to evolve with the change that we have in our modern era. This could be understandable from a certain view, perhaps from the older generations, who hold on to their ways and do not realize the changes in the culture around them. I personally have encountered this in my own tribe (Navajo), when a group of Navajo rappers began to perform in their native language at public events; it was both embraced and denied (mostly by the older age bracket). The music earned its authenticity in some ways, such as introducing non natives to our culture and exposing the language to the younger generations, who have lost it. It seemed to have gained a new type of authenticity as something new to both young and old audiences. I observe that ATCR is something similar, that it will be readily accepted by the electronic groups, because of the genres already existing diversity, and accepted by the traditional means by being something new and apart of the culture. The group embraces urban living as well as where they grew up, and acknowledge both cultures as a part of who each member are and know their identity and embrace it by creating music, and performing it. ATCR concede that there is a difference in identity by establishing some boundaries between dance music ( jingle dance ) and sacred songs ( honor songs ) to cause no disrespect to their traditions . They see the traditions that must hold and they seem to also see the definition of their culture changing, and they are a part of it. And the group seeks out to educate ... The first thing that often comes to mind when one thinks of a crucible is the little ceramic pot that is heated to high temperatures. However, the word crucible has three different meanings. The first is the familiar ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures. The other two are less familiar a crucible is also a place or occasion of severe test or trial as well as a place or situation in which different elements interact to produce something new. • 8. The Australian Red Cross Blood Service Essay 1. Context and Problem The Australian Red Cross Blood Service (ARCBS) has identified a long standing issue of poor repeat blood donation from young donors, in particular males. While this group of the population has a high number of new donors, it has been found they are also the least loyal, which poses a problem for both current and future blood stocks. As a marketing consultancy firm, we have been commissioned to analyse the issues surrounding blood donation in Australia, and to devise three cost effective marketing strategies aimed at increasing repeat donation from this demographic. 2. Literature Review The topic of blood donation well researched, with strategies having been devised to try and increase donation rates all over the world. Australia faces a challenging set of circumstances, in which remuneration for donation is illegal (ARCBS, 2013). It is thought this may be a contributing factor to the poor repeat donation rates in youth demographics, for whom altruism is no longer a primary driving factor when considering donation (Russell Bennett, Hartel, Previte Russel, 2012). Since the iconic work by Titmuss (1970), blood donation has been considered one of the only true altruistic behaviours, and many marketing strategies have been engineered around this concept. Several authors, however, have argued that blood donation is not a case of true altruism , and is actually a case of impure altruism , whereby the donor receives personal utility and improvement ... Inhumanity In Tuesdays With Morrie And Night There is only one way in which one can endure man s inhumanity to man and that is to try, in one s own life, to exemplify man s humanity to man Alan Paton. Neither of the characters in Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, and Night by Elie Wiesel, had a choice about the inhumanity they faced. The Nazis continually called him worthless and a pig. Elie questioned how anyone could be humane in a situation like this and said, Humanity? Humanity is not concerned with us. Today anything is allowed. Anything is possible, even these crematories (30), but despite all of the trauma and inhumanity Elie faced on a daily basis, he was humane to his father. Elie did everything in his power to stay alive for his father, similiar in a way to Mitch in Tuesdays with Morrie. Elie showed humanity to his father. The Age of Sail lasted from about the sixteenth century through the mid nineteenth century. It included three masts, eighteen sails, tactically placed canons, lifeboats, and anchors. While the U.S. were launching this vessel, Great Britain was rapidly advancing their technology into a steel and steam navy. The Napoleonic Wars left Great Britain as the most powerful naval country in the world. No two of their rivals combined came even close to competing with the Royal Navy. With that, the United States Navy was inspired as well as threatened by the technology advances, and they too sought change. Time was not the only factor that was decisive on the progressions. The need for new and more efficient methods was the driving factor. Robert Fulton, the builder of the first steam powered warship, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. John Stuart Mill Harm Principle The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others [14]. In John Stuart Mill s On Liberty, his harm principle addresses interference in other people s actions. He contends that the exercise of power over others is only justified when preventing harm. It is important to keep in mind that some harm is acceptable, but an action that infringes on another s interests should be prevented and punished. In accordance with Mill s description of his harm principle, the statement that protecting liberty through this principle prioritizes the development of individuality over social progress is somewhat valid. It is only somewhat valid because Mill prioritizes the self development of the individual in order to help society progress rather than instead of the progression of society. He believes that freedom is designed to protect individualism and that in a state of nature there would be no social contract because of the concept of social good. This concept conveys that because people receive protection from society then they owe a specific behavior in return. Mill justifies the conservation of originality with the object of personal wellbeing and societal good. His justification reveals the way that, in preventing harm, he prioritizes the preservation of the individual to better the progression of society. • 22. Gatsby Women The simple life of the Gatsby women I m p paralyzed with happiness is just one of the stereotypes of a woman in the 1920 s. In Scott F. Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, there is an often ignored view of the women s perspective. It brings attention to how women have no expectations to go far in life, or have a reason for life besides, to reproduce. The absurd thing is that the women don t have any interest to break out of the stereotype, and try to make a life for themselves. Throughout the story, Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson are treated as possessions rather than humans. The female character first mentioned is Daisy, a perfect example of a woman in the 1920 s. She is married to Tom, and has a daughter Pammy, who doesn t have a job, and is very flirtatious. In The Great Gatsby, Daisy has always been in the upper class so to speak, so she doesn t know what it is like to not get her way, and has never settled for anything less. When she sees Gatsby s shirts, Daisy says They re such beautiful shirts, she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. It makes me sad because I ve never seen such such beautiful shirts before. (Fitzgerald,118). What is meant by Daisy crying over the shirts, is that it shows that she has finally found a lifestyle that is greater than her current one. It makes her sad when she sees the shirts because she knows that it s a lifestyle that she has always wanted, but has never had the chance to have until this point, so she is upset, because she knows that she would be risking everything if she chose this life. It also shows, that women can be overdramatic in situations that should have little to no effect on a male. In addition, Daisy also believes it is better to be dumb than to be knowledgeable as a woman. Growing up Daisy had come from a wealthy family, and has never known poverty. She says in chapter 5 All right, I said, I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool. (118). The Negative Effects Of Corporal Punishment On Children Among the various forms of children punishments, corporal punishment has been revealed to be an ineffective form of correction due to the negative consequences associated with it. Corporal punishment involves subjecting children to physical pain as a corrective measure to prevent them from engaging in inappropriate behaviors. This is a type of power assertive method of discipline where children are subjected to punishments without explanation or justification. They grow up in fear of the consequences of corporal punishment rather than understanding the right from the wrong. The consequences associated with physical punishment include both physical and emotional abuse that has adverse effects on the growth and development of children. As a result of corporal punishments, children are often left with disabilities or bad medical conditions in case of injuries during punishment. The children are also abused emotionally through the vulgar language that is often used by the parents during the administration of the punishments. This physical and emotional abuses that children are subjected to makes them lead a disturbed life in future. • 34. Personal Statement For Girl Child Education When you educate a woman, you educate a nation. This quote has been an inspiration and a developmental tool throughout my education and daily life. Coming from a nation and a continent with little girl child education, I aspire to become one of the most inspiring women and a role model to both young and old. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics , 79% of men aged 45 49 are literate compared to 50% of women in the same age group. Coming from a family that values education has built my character and has taught me very many things about life that I intend to extend to my siblings and the girl child. My dream is to become one of the most influential women not only in Uganda and Africa, but the world at large. This is due to the fact that Africa has very few influential women that younger girls would look up to. I therefore want to use education to change the mindset of different young girls in Uganda and Africa as a whole. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I later joined Gayaza High School in 2008, and I was very proud of myself because it was my dream high school. Gayaza High school is one of the top traditional single sex schools in Uganda due to its history of admitting top female students in Uganda. At Gayaza High School, we were taught to stand out not only in academics, but also co curricular activities. I later completed my A Level education at St. Mary s College School, Kitende in 2013. • 35. The Investigation Middle Miocene Rocks Of Siwa Oasis... VI.2 Paleoecology and paleoenvironment: The investigated Middle Miocene rocks of Siwa Oasis contain a rich macroinvertebrate fauna. A total of 1,618 sample were collected, dominated by oysters (58.03%), pectinids (12.54%), echinoids (5.68%), bivalves (14.77%), and gastropods (8.96%) (Fig. 39). Instead of their great abundance they surprisingly show a low diversity, and they are randomly distributed all over the successions (Figs.12, 13, 15, 17). But it is noticeable that the Oasis and Escarpment Member are more favorable for oysters and pectinids, while El Diffa Plateau Member was dominated by gastropods (Fig. 12). In order to understand the paleoecology and paleoenvironment of the Middle Miocene time of Siwa Oasis a detailed investigation of the abovementioned faunal groups will be discussed. VI.2.1 Oysters They are the most dominant element of the benthic community in the Miocene of Egypt. Until now, oysters from the study area were only mentioned in passing by a few authors (Gindy et al., 1969; El Shazly and Abdel Hamid, 2001). Like their modern representatives, oysters cement themselves onto the substrate by their left valves. Most cementing bivalves are found in shallow water environments having depths of less than 35 m (Kauffmann, 1969). Modern oysters are typically founded in estuaries, bays, and tidal creeks from brackish water (5 parts per thousand [ppt] salinity) to normal marine water (35 ppt salinity) (Loosanoff, 1965). They are very tolerant organisms, able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Effects Of Sex Hormones On The Development Of... Abstract Gender differences have been recorded by researches from single neurons in the cell to system level processes (Cahill 2006), and certain scientists proposed that sex hormones influence the development of prefrontal cortex, and this is supposed to be the cause of the differences in working memory performance (Duff Hampson, 2001). This study further investigated the existence and nature of this gender difference. A sample of 497 Monash University psychology undergraduates (385 females and 112 males; ages 18 64) were recruited for this study. Working memory performance was tested with online spatial working memory test, and 2D:4D finger length ratio was used as an indirect measure of sex hormone levels. The results revealed no sex differences in the working memory performance, but variance in 2D:4D ratio females had a larger ratio than males. Memory reaction time was negatively correlated with 2D:4D ratio, thus, females had a quicker reaction time. Introduction Differences related to gender in spatial memory are most widely described and studied of cognitive sex differences. In 1974 Maccoby and Jacklin established that males usually perform better than females in measures of spatial performance, and this discovery has been constantly replicated in multiple studies covering various developmental stages (McGivern et al. 1997; Lewin et al. 2001) and spatial tasks (Dabbs Jr. et al. 1998; Driscoll et al. 2005). • 39. Baroque Period Research Paper Baroque Period, during which a few of the greatest composers on this planet were born, brought classical music onto a whole new level. The word Baroque , which came from the Portuguese for the imperfect pearl , implies strange, extravagant and overblown. Toccata, fugue, chorale, ortario, and the concerto Grosso, all of these special musical forms were created and represent this period. The six main characteristics: increased emotional expression, contrast, use of basso continuo, continued harmonic development, use of ornament, and the emphasis of improvisation, molded the unique style of music of the Baroque period. First of all, one of the most important characteristics of music in this period was the increased emotional expression. During the Renaissance, emotions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this period, composers rarely wrote out ornaments because they expected performers to add them on their own. Thus, sometimes the same piece sounds different because performers add ornaments on their own. Additionally, long treaties about proper usage of ornaments were written. Finally, the last element is the emphasis on improvisation: the ability to extemporaneously compose on an existing melody. This is often considered as a chance to show off for the performers. Through improvisations and ornaments which were both elaborated by the extemporaneously composition of performers added interest and differences between music and even the same piece of music might sound different. All of these elements constructed the unique structure and texture of the Baroque music. Without any one of them, music would not be as interesting as it is now, and the signature of each composer and characteristic of each piece would not be as different as they are now. In some of the most severe examples, there has even been death involved. Although, Canada s Parliament has not reached that point of harshness and might never, corruption has taken place within our government and as a result of this, public policy has suffered. As the polls on election night come to a close, the title of Prime Minister is granted to one person who receives the opportunity to run their country. The notion of giving one individual such intense power has created a downfall within our society and therefore causing damage in areas of public policy that one person cannot be fully knowledgeable in thus leading to corruption. When a Prime Minsters enters office, they become the face of our entire nation, including people who voted for them and even those against them. Therefore, their decisions and actions should benefit everyone, but it does not always work that way. However, using only the first name to infer the gender of a Twitter user was not an option for the present study, as it is not uncommon for Kuwaiti Twitter users, especially women, to use pseudonyms as their user names. Neutral references included such things as posting a link to a news story in traditional media, quoting a candidate, and posting an announcement for a candidate s rally or media appearance. The mapping theory developed by O Keefe and Nadel (1978) and O Keefe and Conway (1980) proposed that there is a relationship between the hippocampus and storing spatial information, which allows animals to map out the surrounding area and locate itself in proportion to its surroundings. The importance of stimulus load from the environment has been tested with rats in visually altered mazes to examine the role of muscarinic receptors, or acetylcholine receptors, on using surrounding visual cues. The results showed that the muscarinic receptors are important for processing visual discrimination cues to provide the rat with consistent information about the environment; however, scopolamine injected rats had no improvement with one or more visual cues (Tsui and Drigenberg, 2012).
