Characteristics Of Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic disorder that causes intellectual disability and is very common.
The main characteristic is that children find it hard to process, understand information and work.
You can identify fragile x syndrome is babies miss important developmental steps, or if their are
noticeable physical traits like a different face or a big head circumference. This disability causes
difficulty in learning, development and in their behaviour social/behavioural.
It is more common in boys than girls, and usually more severe, but anyone can get it. Fragile X
Syndrome is the most common genetically inherited disability with affecting around 100000
Australians. Statistically in the world, fragile x syndrome effects 1 in 4000 males and 1 in 8000
females. It is estimated that in Australia, 1 child per ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The X chromosome is a sex chromosome which is normally seen in women as (XX) and in men
(XY). The FMR1 is a mental retardation gene. Its main function is to give a set of guidelines for
the body in making protein. When this gene is lengthened the process of making the protein is
stopped and involves brain development and other functions. Fragile X Syndrome can be passed
down through generations. A daughter born to a father who has FXS will be affected but the son
will not be effected as they do not inherit the fathers X chromosome. If the mother has FXS both
genders have 50% of inheriting this syndrome.
Management of Fragile X Syndrome can start with an individual assessment and designing
medication specifically made to help manage the effects of the syndrome. This medication can
manage behavioural and emotional issues commonly seen in FXS like anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and
mood instability. Management also includes for family members and people dealing with people
with FXS to understand the syndrome and how to get treatment and sort out education plans if they

The Glass Castle
The Glass Castle
As I first started reading The Glass Castle by Jane Walls the novel immediately caught my attention.
There were many things that I found to interesting throughout the novel. Through my reading I also
found certain characters or events to be annoying.
The first thing I found to be interesting is staring the novel with her mother. Wall s mother is
rummaging through the dumpster and she goes out of her way to avoid her mother. I was
overcome with panic that she s see me and call out my name, and that someone on the way to the
party would spot us together and mom would introduce herself and my secret would be out (12). It
seems she is embarrassed that her mother is homeless and ashamed because it is a secret. I find it
very interesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At a young age of three she was boiling water and making hot dogs. What you can infer is that she
is mature for her age. While she was in the hospital one of the nurses tried to comfort her. One of
them squeezed my hand and told I was going to be okay I know. I said, But if I m not, that s okay
too (17). I found this of her to say that even if she weren t okay she would be okay to be very
mature of her at a young age.
I believe her parents are very interesting as well and at times can be irresponsible. For example
when her brother Brian fell off of the back of the couch and they did not take him to the hospital.
There was blood everywhere, Mom said but one kid in the hospital at a time is enough. Besides
dad said, Brian s head is hard, I think the floor took more damage than he did (20). This is just one
example of them being irresponsible. I think they should have taken him to the hospital no matter
what they thought he could handle.
Overall I think the events in the novel are very interesting. I believe it is an interesting novel
because of her family and their actions. Through my reading I have not found the book to be boring

Liberia Struggles
Deontae Comer
The Liberian Struggle
Do you think you re life is hard? How would it be if civil wars, corrupt government officials,
gunfire in the streets, extreme poverty, severe illness and no indoor plumbing were added? That
is what most Liberians had to deal with on a daily basis, due to the problems forced upon them
that they had to attempt to solve as individuals not as a country. But these problems were caused
by an already weakening system that was waiting to be toppled, taken advantage of and
destroyed. Many Liberians would die and many lives would be shaken before it would rise again,
yet when its change comes it will be stronger than ever. But before any of this happened Liberia
would first have to be established as a country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have to fight for their life, to have their country taken over by militias and to have almost their

Using Celling And Clustering Mechanisms
Cell LEACH [10] is based on celling and clustering mechanisms as shown in figure below; in
fact, sensors are divided in sections which are called cells, then after the selection of a head of
cells is done, the formation of a new cluster is achieved by the grouping of seven near cells .In
this approach, it is required to transfer the cell data to the cell head in designated time using TDM
(Time Division Multiplexing) method . This method is also used for delivering data from cell head
to cluster head. Before transferring data to cluster heads, cell heads remove redundant information
and aggregate received information from different sensors
E.LEACH E
LEACH E [11] protocol would improve the CH selection process compared to LEACH protocol.
As LEACH protocol; this improved version is divided into different rounds. All the sensor nodes
would have the same probability to be CH of the cluster in the first round. After the first round of
transmission the residual energy of each node would get different, The selection of a node as CH
is based on residual energy which means the one which has the highest residual energy would be
chosen as CH of the cluster and other nodes with less energy will represent the members of the
cluster.
F.Enhanced LEACH (E LEACH)
E LEACH [12] is based on LEACH protocol to balance the energy consumption of sensor nodes in
order to solve the overload energy consumption problem. This protocol adopts the same round
concept with the original LEACH. The

The Role Of Women In The 1920s
INTRODUCTION
The motivation behind this research is the big pace the fashion industry had taken from 1910 to
the 1920s , and the interesting thing is that the media had also played a major role in expanding
the idea of the importance of wearing fashionable clothes and having fashionable items ,hairstyles
,automobile etc. And I chose this topic because it also discusses how women started to emerge as a
significant force and how women had started to have major roles in the American societies by
joining the workforce and participating in promoting the idea of new fashion through the media
since then and up until now. Before the 1920s Women rarely found jobs in male dominated fields

women were given a chance to play a role in political issues and women began to have some say in
the direction of their lives. Both single and married women were earning higher paying jobs.
Women were much more than just staying home with their kids and doing house work. They
become independent both financially and literally. Women also earned the right to vote in 1920
after the Nineteenth Amendment was adopted which gave them the liberation they have dreamed
of. They worked hard for the same or greater equality as men. This all happened due to two reasons.
One was the thinning of male population due to World War I and two, the continuing awareness of
the feminist movement. All this brought them closer to their

The Need to Understand the Phenomenon of Bilingualism,...
Introduction There are not so many places in the world left, where the population is using only one
their native language. People are traveling, migrating and trying to adapt to the new environment.
Knowing more than one language became very common thing. Many schools all over the world
practicing studies of one, some times several, foreigner languages, furthermore sometimes the
language of education differs from the native language of the students. The ability of using more
than one language, or so called shifting language codes, gives us an opportunity to make possible
communication between people with different dimensions of psychology, culture and social
settings. Knowledge of more than one language facilitates the perception of another culture, makes
possible communication in modern information space. The need to understand the phenomenon of
bilingualism in the context of the development of cultural values is the major task of the present
stage of development of civilization. Problem area Bilinguality is the psychological state of an
individual who has access to more than one linguistic code as a means of social communication;
the degree of access will vary along a number of dimensions which are psychological, cognitive,
psycholinguistics, social psychological, social, sociological, sociolinguistics, sociocultural and
linguistic (Hamers, Blanc 2000:6) Due to globalization and increasing level of immigration, social

Analysis Of Citrate And Its Various Salts Essay
Overview:
Citrate and its various salts have been researched extensively and found to be used in most
commercial settings, such as a local supermarket, as food preservatives. Hence, the level of
citrate salts of various metals in our daily food has to be allocated to acceptable levels; as well
enforcement of these acceptable levels requires an analytical tool capable of quick, selective and
sensitive detection and quantification of citric acid levels in our daily food. This analytical method
utilizes a graphite sensor to determine citrate in various beverage samples. It requires the
construction of a relatively simple graphite carbon electrode for the determination of citrate levels.
This method uses graphite carbon electrodes, within a Flow Injection (FI) system, as potentiometric
sensors for the determination of ascorbate in food products. The mechanism supporting this method
is the process of adsorption and subsequent oxidation of ascorbate on the electrode surface and the
potential difference after citrate introduction. The results from this analytical method were
validated against a conventional procedure, i.e. a standard titrimetric method.
There are many analytical methods for determining citrate levels in samples, however, too many of
these methodologies are tedious and time consuming; they require expensive materials and
expensive equipment. AraГєjo et. al (2011) suggests this analytical method for it is relatively quick
and inexpensive. It does not require large

A business may possess inferior employees but the huge amount of loyalty would have can send a
very insignificant business to amazing heights. Likewise, those employees with unsubstantial
amount of loyalty may cause tremendous business to collapse.
DuPont being one of the largest chemical company in the world, it is a necessity for them to
continue to work as effective and efficient as possible. To help them with such we have conducted
a study on employee loyalty. With this study, we aim to come with an output that will be able to
assist DuPont to design different programs to help improve the employee organizational loyalty.
Through this we as well want to prove that the amount of loyalty of the employees of a business
plays a significant role in the success of the corporations.
Theoretical Framework
John Meyer and Natalie Allen proposed the Three Components of Commitment model, which
explains how organizational commitment is a psychological related idea. They suggested three
factors that affect how an employee sees his/her organization. With this knowledge and better
understanding, one can increase not only the engagement of the employees, but their well being
and job satisfaction as well. By using these components together with various appropriate
approaches, a manager now has the ability to effectively motivate and work with his/her team.

The Invention Of Printing Press
In 1440, for too many people was the year of change in the global communication. It was during
this time in Mainz, Germany that a goldsmith s Johannes Gutenberg created one of the most
important machines during the modern period: the printing press. The printing press was inspired
by earlier uses found in China and Japan as early as the 7th century. In this time the way to print
was using the method of block printing, which was a piece of wood used to print a specific piece of
text. ( Patterns for )
With the Gutenberg invention the revolution had begun. It advanced the process of movable type
further, and started a new era of printing called typography. The typography allowed information to

User Interface )
The templates are essential in mobile design. It helps to the designer to create layouts based on
cultural norms of reading and how people process information. The templates that are used across
a product, on most every page of a website or application, we call a wrapper because they enclose
(wrap around) all the other components and the content. Also there are some patterns based on how
the human mind processes pattern, objects, and information. ( User Interface )
Scroll bars when information on a page exceeds the viewport, a scroll bar control may be required
to access the additional information. Scrolling of information should almost always occur along
one axis, except in rare cases. ( Patterns for )
The problem can be more information in the page or element than can fit in the viewport. You have
to provide a method to access this information.
The solution for mobiles will be to display them to indicate the scrollable axes, and the relative
position within the scrollable area.
Whenever possible, you should make sure scrolling takes place on a single axis. This is why the
whole set of patterns based around vertical scroll exist. When the situation demands, such as for
zooming in to content which otherwise fits the area, you can also offer a secondary scroll axis.
Keep the secondary axis in mind throughout the design process because

Stock Market and Stock Option Plan
Should the company implement the proposed employee stock option plan? In a typical stock
option plan, the employee is offered a specific number of shares which he/she can exercise (buy) at
some specified time in the future. The price at which the employee can buy the stock is equal to the
market price at the time the stockoptionwas granted (grant price). The employee s gain is equal to
the market value of the stock at the time it is exercised, less the grant price. If the market price of
the stock remains the same or decreases relative to the grant price, then the stock option is
worthless. Stock options are typically offered to managers, most technical individual contributors
and about half of the other professionals. Smaller... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Risk that would scare off a shareholder is a matter of indifference to an option holder. This may
lead management taking too much risk as the upside to taking the risk gives high paybacks
whereas there is virtually no downside. In THTF, other measures need to be put into place to make
sure of the interests alignment before implement stock options compensation. Employees From the
employee s point of view, receiving stock options is a huge benefit as the employee can reap
financial success from the firm. But is it really so? The executives may suffer from the more
volatility then the market as they are too under diversified with their stake too over concentrated in
a firm. Employees should not put their eggs instruments and salary into one basket. Thus, this will
lead to the undervaluing of options by the employees. This shows that options are wasted on
employees. Market Paranoia Stock options compensation may also lead to the market being deeply
suspicious of the corporation. When top executives are paid in stock options compensation, they get
huge compensation packages which are hidden away from public scrutiny. Furthermore, stock
options also dilute shareholders. Management may also manipulate the market before the stock
options grant date to get a better deal for themselves which would lead to excess volatility. Thus,
having stock options compensation may lead to distrust

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gps
INTRODUCTION
The Global Positioning System, commonly referred to as the GPS, is one of the greatest
innovations that truly revolutionized the way we function in the 21st century. It s a space based
satellite navigation system that uses 27 satellites and a wide range of networks of powerful
computers used to send signals down to earth. These signals carry a time code and geographical
data point that allows the user to pinpoint their exact position, speed and time anywhere on the
planet. Centuries ago, explorers used clues such as the position of the sun during the day as a
means of navigating but these left explorers helplessly lost.
2. THE ORIGIN OF THE GPS

The GPS technology is used widely in climate studies such as earthquake research and accurate

Corporate companies are using the GPS technology as a useful tool to monitor employee
productivity by keeping record of their clocking times , frequency and duration of lunch breaks.
Commercial airplanes and cargo ships have more accurate readings that help them avoid disasters
and ensures that they can be traced should they get lost at sea.
The commercialisation of the GPS technology has led to the development of hand held GPS
navigation devices that are used for recreational activities such as hiking and outdoor treasure
hunting.
4.2 Disadvantages
One of the greatest disadvantage of the GPS technology is that it relies completely on receiving
satellite signals, so it s prone to radio interference and nuclear weapons.
Another issue is accuracy in terms of updating the navigation system, for example, drivers using the

The Insanity Defense Essay
The Insanity Defense
Former U.S president Ronald Reagan was shot by a man named John Hinckley in the year 1981.
The president along with many of his entourage survived the shooting despite the heavy infliction
of internal and external injuries. The Hinckley case is a classic example of the not guilty by reason
of insanity case (NGRI). The criminal justice system under which all men and women are tried
holds a concept called mens rea, a Latin phrase that means state of mind . According to this concept,
Hinckley committed his crime oblivious of the wrongfulness of his action. A mentally challenged
person, including one with mental retardation, who cannot distinguish between right and wrong is
protected and exempted by the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rule states, A defendant may be excused from criminal responsibility if at the time of the
commission of the act, the party accused was laboring under such a defect of reason, from a
disease of mind, as not to know the nature and the quality of the act he was doing... (3)
The problem with this defense is that insanity here is either examined from a legal angle or a
psychoanalytical one which involves talking to people and having them take tests. There is
however, no scientific proof confirming the causal relationship between mental illness and
criminal behavior based on a deeper neurological working of the brain sciences. The psychiatrist
finds himself/herself in a double bind where with no clear medical definition of mental illness, he
/she must answer questions of legal insanity beliefs of human rationality, and free will instead of
basing it on more concrete scientific facts. Let me use a case study to elaborate my argument that
law in this country continues to regard insanity as a moral and legal matter rather than ones based
on scientific analysis.
The insanity defense of Andrea Yates: The country was absolutely appalled when it heard that
Yates, a mother of five children, had killed each of her children resulting in a horrific family

Myths, Morals, And Rules
Life is a series of life lessons, morals, and rules that we all live by and learn through every
decision we make. A way these lessons, morals, and rules are shown and told is through myths.
A myth is a traditional story from a certain ethnic, religion, place, or culture, and explains how
and why things are the way they are. Myths also incorporate a moral, theme, or life lesson, which
becomes clear at the end of the story. As a child I m sure you ve heard stories from your family

Also, my grandpa and Aunty Paning lived in Ilocos Norte, while my grandma lived in Manila,
they were 407.64km, 253.31mi apart and they were still told the same myths, with the exception
of a few details. Furthermore, another person who has heard this myth from past generations is
Sonia Jackson, who was a senior at Tennessee University in 2008. Sonia Jacksons grandmother
Dr. Natividad Corrales Taboada told her daughter, Maria Jackson, Sonia s mother, who then told
Sonia and her siblings the story. There is also a controversy of whether the myth was created
before or after the Spanish invasion, but it s difficult to know for sure. As you can see this myth
is probably very old, to have gone through at least eighty two years, it could easily have existed for
a century.
Usually, Filipino myths are passed down through words spoken and are grouped into four main
groups. The first are myths that explain the creation of the universe, god (Bathala or Maykapal),
the origin of man, supernatural beings and the native Filipino heroes. Second, are legends that tell
the origin of a local phenomenon, places, plants, animals, thoughts, and names. Third, are fables
where animals or inanimate beings are made to speak and act like rational beings to point out
morals, this is the group the myth falls into, but also has aspects from the second group because

Going into unfamiliar lands, often not even knowing the language is very stressful on the mind.
With no one to guide you, no one to talk to, and no one to share your thoughts with it will most

their effort in striving in this new life. This is all part of what an emotional barrier is. Before even
leaving their country, a person will most definitely think about their family. If they know they

loneliness the only part of the emotional barrier, frustration is also included. The whole migration

The Indwelling Urinary Catheter And Urinary Retention Problem
The indwelling urinary catheter can be inserted for a long period with frequent changes between
4 6 weeks (Taylor, Lillis, LeMone, Lynn, 2011). However, the Foley can also be a potential
source for UTI and bacteriuria (Taylor et al., 2011). The necessity of reducing the patient s period
of time on a Foley and helping him or her to quickly regain normal bladder function is significant.
Performing bladder training through clamping the urinary catheter is reported to decrease the
frequency of urinary retention, shorten the period of returning to normal bladder function, and
stimulate normal bladder filling and emptying by improving bladder tone and sensation (Nyman,
2012). When one thinks critically, bladder retraining seems to be reasonable and necessary but
there is always the need of evidence based evaluation. The following journals are trials providing
evidences and statistics about bladder retraining prior to Foley removal in different populations
presented with urinary retention problem.
The chosen population in this journal were patients with hip fracture at a Swedish university
hospital (Nyman, Johansson, Gustafsson, 2010). Patients with hip fracture experience long periods
of bed rest and pain resulting in dysuria, which requires the insertion of a Foley before surgery.
The trial started at 6 a.m. on the postoperative day two (Nyman et al., 2010). One group had their
catheter clamped and then only unclamped when there was a need for urination, while one group
had

Bob Marley Influence On Society
Despite many obstacles, one of them being a despised Rastaman, which was not socially
acceptable at the time, he became a figure of immeasurable influence and inspiration to millions
of young blacks and ghetto sufferahs. Though there were many other notable Reggae artist at
the time, such as Jacob Miller and Inner Circle (who is famous for the crossover hit Bad Boys
which became the theme song for the Cops television program.) The lead singer Jacob Miller was a
close friend of Marley and was just as popular among the natives of Jamaica but was killed in a car
crash. He and the Inner Circle band had been preparing to go on a United States tour with Bob

messages gained momentum, Bob Marley stood out as one of the most powerful and conscientious

Laughter Contagious Phenomenon
Why is Laughter Contagious? This online newsletter suggests how laughter is a contagious
phenomenon as laughter triggers responses in the premotor cortical region of the brain. It also
discusses on how laughter epidemic brought on by stress, causes mass psychogenic illness or mass
hysteria. Thus, Gelotology, is a way of studying and finding out how laughter and the result on the
human body could be seen from both a psychological and physiological perspective.
Laughter, based on a neural basis of empathy and unconscious behaviour, is a contagious
phenomenon that has sufficient stimulus for laughs and smiles to occur unconsciously. In the
auditory domain, contagion is the likely response of a stimulus feature detector that was triggered

However, least did they know that laughter could provide a method for negative emotions to be
harmlessly released as laughter is therapeutic. Biological fight or flight response can be inhibited
through the relaxation resulting from a bout of laughter. Moreover, the capability to laugh is
especially useful for coping with major sickness and life s difficulties, as well as balancing all the
components of the immune system, which helps us fight off diseases. Laughter can not only help
us in reducing certain levels of our stress hormones but by doing so, it provides a safety valve that
shuts off the flow of stress hormones and the fight or flight compounds that swing into action in
our bodies when we experience stress, anger or hostility. The increase in the number of blood
platelets and raise of blood pressure were also caused by these stress hormones that suppressed the
immune system. Therefore, laughter is able to help us by increasing natural killer cells such as
Gamma interferon (a disease fighting protein), T cells, which are a major part of the immune
response, and B cells, which make disease destroying antibodies to destroy tumours and viruses.
Last but not least, laughter also helps in defending against infectious organisms entering through
the respiratory tract by increasing the concentration of salivary immunoglobulin

Trends Principles Of The Counseling Profession
MHS 6006: Trends Principles of the Counseling Profession
Self reflection
To be honest, before my first counseling session I thought that counseling would be easier that what
it was; nonetheless, I learned very quickly otherwise. I believed that because I am an educator and
encounter similar situations that may require particular skills such as encouraging, empathy,
questioning and observation that I was going to have an advantage over acquiring and applying the
rest of the skills needed for a complete counseling session. Hence, I went into the first session with
an authoritative and even judgmental attitude towards my client; which I now regret. At the
moment I intertwined my teacher and counselor personas and I should not have done this. If I had
been the astute and objective counselor, I would have had appreciated every second of the first
session to build rapport and trust. Instead, I lectured the student about the school rules and how to
avoid getting in trouble. Therefore, I ended up spending some of session two reconstructing what
should have been done to properly serve the client and focus on the main concern without imposing
my wishes or prejudicial thoughts into the matter. Simple interviewing based on open and closed
questioning with a bit of self disclosure allowed me the opportunity to understand my client from
their perspective, where and why her problem stemmed from, and to formulate a few possible
solutions that I wished for her to arrive to with my

Analysis Of White Tigers By Maxine Hong-Kingston
One of my first impressions of the story White Tigers by Maxine Hong Kingston is that the story
that she shares with the reader is what I believed to be a dream that she had. I thought that this
dream was inspired by the times her and her mother spoke their own language, talk story. Talking
story is a dialect that transcends our basic comprehension of communication. It is the hybrid of
our own language, and the power of storytelling fused upon one another. I thought that Kingston
told us this story because it was the best dream that she has ever imagined. This story was so
moving for her since she felt a deep connection with it. However, I assumed that this story was
just generic. I overlooked the familiarity that this story had. I envisioned that Hong Kingston was
telling us her own version of the tale of Fa Mu Lan. Thousands of years ago, The Ballad of Fa Mu
Lan, written by Tzu Yeh is about a woman, Fa Mu Lan. Mu Lan was extraordinary because she
took her father s place in battle when he was chosen to fight. Not only was she brave, and
thoughtful, she was the first ever woman to go to battle and live. Then I went back to White
Tigers, and saw that after the fantasy that she created was stated, she reflects back on her
childhood which was just merely depressing. After reading both the Ballad, and White Tigers, I
realized that she injected herself into this fantasy because she wanted to rebel as did Mu Lan.
Being femalefor Hong Kingston was a living nightmare,

The Success Factors Of High Achieving Black Males
In studying the success factors of high achieving Black males in high school, Allen (2015)
found that parents were proactive in teaching their sons to have racial pride and resilience while
understanding the dynamics and barriers of racism. One father stated, For some reason, because
of the color of our skin, we re looked down upon as being nothing and if we don t do something
supernatural and achieve way beyond everybody else then you re never going to get out of that
box (Allen, 2015, p. 221). Therefore, it became essential for the fathers to teach their children to
achieve way beyond everybody else (Allen, 2015, p. 221) in order to achieve racial justice. The
idea of racial justice as a motivator is significant in giving the Black male students agency to be
Black academically talented men. Prideful Black identity socialization, per Allen (2015), is an
essential element of success and resilience. Researchers have created, recreated, and scrutinized
many Black identity models, but William Cross (1971, 2001) theory is regarded as the most
accurate and beneficial (Constantine, 1998). Cross created a Black identity development model
that observes three patterns (Cross et al., 2001). First, Nigrescence pattern A is the process by
which individuals have formative Black socialization experiences throughout their lives. Next,
Nigrescence pattern B is the process by which individuals who were not socialized toward
Blackness, or those who do not have a healthy Black identity

Title: Sex Education and Birth Control should be enforced to prevent Teenage Pregnancies
Approximately one million teens get pregnant and give birth every year in the United States. Eighty
percent of those births are to unmarried teens (ProQuest Staff) . Teenage Pregnancyis when a
mentally immature female adolescent under the age of nineteen is pregnant. Pregnant Teenagers
would have to face many consequences and problems because they are physically and mentally
unprepared to have babies. The teenagers futures would be limited because they would have to
quit high school to care for their babies and it have been proven that the adolescents would
mostly be poor when they become adults. They would also be prone to health problems like high
blood pressure, premature birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be
the only that would be affected, their babies would also be affected because it might be born
premature and there is a high possibility that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children
that were born by teenagers do worse in school than other children born from adults. Teenage
Pregnancy should be prevented because it does not have any positive affects to the people in the
United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex education and birth controls because it would
make adolescents more aware about the consequences and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and

Mexican American Sociological Perspective
I will be applying the three major sociological perspectives, which include functionalism, conflict
theory, and symbolic interactionism to the experiences of Hispanic Americans. No ethnic group
attracts more public attention than the Hispanic people do due to their large numbers, their
residential clustering, and bilingual programs and signs associated with them making them a
recognizable ethnic group. Hispanic people who live in poverty or the small number involved in
gangs, drugs, or other criminal activity get more attention and generate negative stereotypes, but
most of them live as members of the middle class. Functionalist Perspective: Hispanic Americans

Problems In The Movie Zootopia
Most disney movies deal with love and the causal happy ever after motto that does not correspond
to an average person s everyday life. However, the animated film Zootopia contradicts the fantasy
world that Disney movies tend to portray a variety of times.Disney s featured film illustrates
international problems going on in today s society, and no matter what age, race, gender or religion
one is, people tend to get generalized or stereotyped at least once in their lifetime. The younger
generation should start to consider real world problems that go on throughout the world, like in the
movie Zootopia for example, the movie targets problems specifically dealing with
stereotyping, racism, and diversity,in order to show how society is changing at a fast pace, and that
people should adapt to the new set of standards that are forthcoming as the years have
progressed, due to the fact that, certain actions may affect an individual. Today the world deals with
numerous amounts of problems, that get recognized once in awhile. However, in order for history to
not repeat itself, the younger generation must start acknowledging dilemmas that occur worldwide.
A perfect example that can lead children to identify those kinds of problems in by simply
watching the movie Zootopia, in which it deals with problems that address stereotypes ,focuses on
generalizations and its effects, and shows how sometimes people are biased towards specific
minorities.Observing the film one might catch coded language that is used to describe certain
minority groups, for example,African Americans.Antrum argues that, Terms such as savage and
biologically predisposed are terms used to describe black peoplein the real world (Antrum.)In the
movie they do not not address race in specific, but they do instead use terms such as predator to
fit the kid friendly theme. The movie intended for young kids is saying how black people get
called certain names all the time and that they are victims of racial slurs perpetually. Other people
are supposed to be scared by them since they are generalized on all the time and the movie
illustrates this throughout the film. While watching the film the city looks like a perfect place to
live with no problems arsing,nevertheless,

In the fourth stanza, Clark uses imagery to talk about segregation. She also uses the simile, I 40

violence of the 60 s was shown through the imagery of the lines stating, Ambulance siren driving

phrase continuous loop flashes SNCC videos is a use of imagery. Also in this stanza, and the

negative, however, the majority can remain unconquerable and get through them. Readers can
relate to the hardships Henley presents in the poem, thus giving it a hopeful tone and inspiring
readers to keep pushing on through life. In the steadfast poem Invictus, William Ernest Henley
develops his theme of the human spirit and its ability to overcome challenges no matter what

humans possess.

emotions from his own life and weaves them into something general that all living beings can

shoulders. Luckily, that weight didn t kill me. That weight weakened me for sure, but I wasn t
dead yet. Theoretically speaking, I could ve openly admitted to loving you and the weight could ve
been removed.
Instead, I chose to take the more difficult path. That path sent me to sleep every night with a
pounding in my head. Every bang was another denial. I couldn t fall in love. I absolutely couldn t
fall in love. Trying to persuade myself, I continued to say it over and over again. You betrayed me.
Although it was indirect, you still hurt me because I never imagined you for being the cause of the
hammering in my head. You broke my heart without intentionally doing. You broke my heart

Simon Bolivar Research Paper
El Libertador
When tyranny becomes law, rebellion is a right. Simon Bolivar was declared The Liberator by his
own people and his legacy as an inspiring military general lives on today throughout Latin America.
Through Bolivar s revolution, he successfully freed and established Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia,
Ecuador, Peru, and Panama. Finally, at the peak of his power, Bolivar ruled from the Argentine
border all the way to the Caribbean Sea. Bolivar himself was born as a second class citizen due to
the rigid Spanish social structure; throughout his life, he sought equality in his home country and
grew into one of the most powerful military figures in history. Bolivar s ingenious military tactics

They argued that the Spanish had colonized the territories and therefore had the authority to rule
the colonies however they pleased ( SimГіn BolГvar. UXL Biographies). Even after Bolivar had
liberated slaves across the continent, constant revolts flared up in the republics against unity (
SimГіn BolГvar. UXL Biographies). Many refused to see Bolivar s vision simply because they had
gotten used to inherently being superior to others. In fact, the night Bolivar became the dictator of
Gran Colombia, he barely escaped assassination. In fact, just a year later, the opposition to Bolivar
had assumed such proportions that an[other] conspiracy to eliminate him was set in motion (
SimГіn BolГvar. Encyclopedia of World Biography). However, Bolivar s fame continued to grow to
mythical proportions in Latin America because he was fearless and continued to undermine Spanish
authority ( SimГіn BolГvar. Encyclopedia of World Biography). His strong leadership was
unquestionable and his territory continued to expand as more Latin Americans recognized the
falling Spanish social structure. Bolivar strategically used his forces to establish a formidable
regime under his rule which he used to give opportunities to the poor. Bolivar founded a congress
for his territory and elected leaders from multiple countries to diversify the thought process for the
most well rounded government ( SimГіn BolГvar. Encyclopedia of World Biography). Although
Bolivar went to extreme measures of violence to earn freedom for Latin America, his methods
proved justifiable due to the capable government he left

Sophocles The Greatest Minds
Sophocles is an Ancient Greek writer and philosopher, who wrote one of the greatest stories of all
tome Antigone. Sophocles is also said to be one of the greatest minds in achievements and times of
Sophocles . Sophocles was born about 496 BC at Colonus in Attica, near Athens and died 406 BC.
He lived in the most brilliant intellectual period of Athens. Sophocles, his father, was a wealthy
Athenian citizen and gave him a sound education in music, gymnastics, and dancing. He was well

Sophocles wrote more than 120 tragedies, only a mear seven have survived. Plutarch tells us that
there were three periods in Sophocles literary developed: imitation of the grand style of
Aeschylus, use of artificial and incisive style, and use of the best style and that which is most
expressive of character. It is only from the third period we have examples of. The seven tragedies
that survive are Ajax 447 BC, Antigone 442/441 BC, Oedipusat Colonus 401 BC, and Tracheniae
437 432 BC, Oedipus Rex as a perfect tragedy. Sophocles made many improvements to plays such
as adding scene painting and a third actor. He increased the number of the chorus from twelve to
fifteen, and reduced the proportion of the play given to the chorus, thereby accelerating the progress
of the action; he also made better tragic masks and made many other technical improvements. A
grandmaster in the delineation of characters, he is credited with the invention of the heroic maiden,
and the ingenuous young man. Antigone is the young princess who pits herself against her uncle,
King Creon. She defies his cruel judgement forbidding the burial of her brother Polyneicess who in
attempt to invade Thebes and seize the thrown from his brother Eteocles, slew himself into mortal
combat and in turn was slain. Against the pleas of her sister Ismene and her fiancГ© Haemon.

Analysis Of The Book The Looking At Irene
Louise Erdrich s Shadow Tag is about a dysfunctional marriage. However, it features characters
that were both hurt and helped by the recording and, to some degree the commodification of
American Indian history. American Indian history both helps and hurts the characters in
Shadow Tag. There are some factors that make the difference between helping and hurting each
character. In addition, some characters benefit more from their past compared to others. In
contrast, some characters hurt more from their pass send some of their counterparts. Irene, Gil
and Riel are the three main characters that are mainly affected by American and Indian history.
Nevertheless, each and every character is impacted by his or her past and heritage in some way
or other. In the looking at Irene, one of the most important characters in the book, we can see
how American Indian history has impacted her life experience. She grew up reading primarily
critically acclaimed classic novels. From these works, she discovered a certain way of looking
at the world. In addition, the book says she read sparked her fascination with history. This led
her to pursue a degree in history. However, she was never able to finish her degree. Her main job
is being a stay at home mom, which is when she is not posing for one of Gil s paintings. Due to
the stress that comes along with working with the family member, Irene spends the majority of her
waking day with an elegant wine glass in her hand. Some would consider her a

Applications Of Knx Logging Section
In keeping with the above requirements and considering the findings of the Current
Applications of KNX Logging section (p. 10), having a separate logging service and user interface
seems the most logical solution. Separating the GUI and the logger would allow for the KNX bus
to be logged with a background process, rather than require an application to be running in the
foreground when logging.
Figure 2.3 1 illustrates the overall solution proposed in this section. The diagram shows the KNX
network, the KNX to serial module, the host server, the logging service, the database, the user
interface and finally the user; it illustrates how these components of the logger system will interact
with each other.
In this proposal, a basic KNX network has been developed with various actuators and sensors.
The sensors are more important in the example network as these are the modules from which the
telegrams to be recorded originate. The KNX bus has a KNX to PC module which connects the
KNX network to a computer, these sorts of module will be discussed in greater depth later but
generally are used to connect a KNX network to another device via USB in order to configure or
otherwise manipulate the KNX network.
The KNX to PC module connects the KNX network to a server. The server hosts the logging
service which is used to record all information on the KNX bus in a data store. In Figure 2.3 1 the
data store is shown to be hosted on the server as well, however this is something which may

Props In The Play
At the beginning of the play, Brenda and April were playing separately. Brenda begins playing
with the fruits and vegetables, telling Ms. Brittany she s a farmer. Codi is nearby, trying on hats,
and tells Ms. Brittany he s an astronaut. Both Codi and Brenda, utilized the props to enhance their
play. April Strolls her baby around the room, then decides she wants to take her shopping. In this
play, April was a master player because she was able to initiate the play, and express her ideas. She
was able to interact with each player and organize the play. She used the props to help make a
representation come to life, which was buying the cheeseburger and flowers. Codi was also a
master player and was also able to lead the play and execute the ideas initiated for play.

Brenda and April found dolls and kitchen items to play with. While Codi found different hats to
try on. All of their play changed because they interacted with different materials. Ms. Brittany
provided more than enough props for them from the mirrors, dolls, stroller, cash register,
flowers, and so much more. Because of this large variety, the children were able to keep playing
and their play was not interrupted. The children did not fight over any of the materials, which
made this a fun learning environment Instead, they were able to utilize all items. Without enough
to do, children hurt themselves and each other, practice rule breaking, and fuss or become
lethargic (Johnson Reynolds, 2011, p.28) Instead, all children were engaged for the duration of
the play. In past observations, I have seen Codi become lethargic when things are not his way, or
he doesn t get the toy he wants right away. In this case, he was only upset when Daniel attempted
to join his play, but was able to work it out. There were more than enough hats for him to try on,

Orwell s Use Of The Phonetic Alphabet In The Military...
The military, as a whole, has a countless number of sayings, slogans and acronyms for every, single
aspect of military life. Consequently, it feels like learning a new language to those newly
indoctrinated members of this culture; being required to learn a new alphabet, the phonetic
alphabet, reinforces this feeling. While the mastery of this languageis slow and arduous, there is a
larger purpose behind it. To protect its service members as well as its assets, the military needs
every part to run smoothly and efficiently. Accordingly, they have crafted a language, and an
alphabet, after George Orwell s heart: one that leaves nothing up to interpretation, one which is
terse, and builds a clear and consistent picture of the point being made. Admittedly, when
someone in the military attempts to spell a word using the phonetic alphabet, it goes against
Orwell s second rule: Never use a long word where a short one will do, (519). Instead of spelling K
I F E R, the spelling of my name becomes, Kilo, India, Foxtrot, Echo, Romeo; obviously, this takes
longer and would not be considered efficient Orwell.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people, at one point or another, have been on the phone with someone, trying to spell out a
word or a code, and had a hard time hearing what one of the letters was. Perhaps the person on the
other end said something along the lines of, its b as in bog; however, to the person listening, the
b as in bog sounds a lot like d as in dog. To make matters worse, different people use different
words to explain what letter they are taking about in these types of situation. The military evades
such a problem by making one, uniform series of words to express every letter and number. This
builds a consistency which allows soldiers to focus on the real problems at hand, instead of trying
to decipher what some random word

Turnus In The Aeneid Essay
eus is Aeneas foil hence one of the most important characters of The Aeneid. Read The Aeneid by
Virgil (readings listed in your syllabus) taking careful note the actions of Turnus and discuss the
following: The death of Turnus is sudden and shocking. What does the manner of his death indicate
about Turnus and what does it show about Aeneas? Is Turnus a hero or a victim? The Aeneidby
Virgilis a classic poem that describes the way the Trojans survived after the Greeks invaded and
destroyed their hometown, Troy. The Poem explains the Trojans movements and how they
found the city of Rome that was ruled by King Latinus at the time. The King at the time was
happy to open his arms to the Trojans, as he believed in a prophecy that stated that it was meant
to be that his daughter had to get married to a foreigner. It only made sense for the King to
welcome the Trojans, as by doing so he would increase the chances of the prophecy being
fulfilled. While this was the King s hopes plan s, his wife Amata wanted Lavania to marry the King
of Rutilians, Turnus who ruled an ethnic group in Italy. The conflict rose when King Latinus
decided to hand his daughter s hand to Aeneas, and Turnus hot tempered as always did not sit quiet
and launched an attack against Aeneas, which ended up lead to the death of Turnus. The series of...

Public Governance And Internal Control
1.0Introduction Charities in the UK and in general have come through a lot of criticisms from
external stakeholders on the state of their ineffective accountability and transparency, which
portrays that charities do not comply with effective corporate governance and internal control
(CG+IC) in order to improve their performance and credibility. The research will pinpoint the
inadequacies of CG+IC, then evaluate how when applied effectively could contribute to charities
performance and aid credibility, which would in turn improve their income level. In order to
achieve these, charities should be prepared to undergo changes and put in place controls that would
support this reality. Charities are voluntary organisations with clear... Show more content on

Charities have been involved in some areas previously envisaged as the state s responsibility, in so
doing, have created an active partnership with the government. This brought about a new wave of
change, from previously, when many of the earliest founded charities were funded by religious
groups, the nobility, or wealthy individuals, to help the neediest members of society. Presently,
charitable activities and jurisdiction in the provision of a wide range of services are funded mostly
by the state and the public. Some charities receive more funding from the state than from private
donors, (Brindle 2001); for example, The Children s Society, UNICEF UK, and Save the Children,
(mainly due to the purpose of their charitable activities). The consequences of this partnership have
caused the traditional boundaries in the public, private and voluntary sectors to eventually dissipate
(Blair, 2006). In the current economic ambience, many non profit organisations (NPO) are facing
funding cuts, as well as reduced voluntary donations. Others are facing reductions in income, whilst
the demand for their services continues to grow (Cornforth, 2012). As such, due to governmental
and public donors support received by charities, there have been

Robert Irwin s Excerpt From Islamic Art
In Robert Irwin s excerpt from Islamic Art in Context, Irwin outlines why he believes that the
Muslims of this medieval era in Islamic art would have looked at many of the arts, such as
painting, sculpture, and the decorative arts, with distaste. He clarifies what Muslims at the time
believed about the depiction of living things, how that belief evolved, and why; claiming that
the issue of the non representational nature of Islamic art is not as clear cut as people often
assume. As for how this excerpt compares to what was shown in the lectures, there is a similar
lack of living creatures that are depicted in the art. Irwin looks more closely at the line between
what is a depiction of a living creature, however, which was not specifically covered in the class
lectures about Islamic art. The defining line between what is acceptable and what is not in
Islamic art is very blurry, and Irwin explains some of the grey area citing both the Koran and
hadiths, as interpreted by various religious scholars, as well as some other writers that were
known at the time. He starts by citing the Koran, which is a sacred Islamic book written by the
Prophet Muhammed, in where the translation is disputed; it could mean that you are to avoid
paintings, as they are Satan s work, or it could mean to avoid idols, which in context most likely
refers to pagan idols, which he shows an example of a Persian miniature that shows the destroying
of an idol. Hadiths were also used to help illustrate his

Harriet Tubman And Frederick Douglass Essay
Comparing Harriet Tubman and Fredrick Douglass Harriet Tubman and Fredrick Douglass are
renowned African America civil rights figures who escaped from slavery. The civil rights
activists spent a significant time of their life fighting against slavery and advocating for social
justice thus holding prominent ranks in the American history. There are similarities and
differences in the lives of Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass. First, they were both born at
the same time and into slavery. Harriet Tubman was born around 1820 in Maryland (Larson 35).
Similarly, Fredrick Douglass was also born in Maryland around 1920 which was about the same
period Tubman was born (McFeely 42). They were both exposed to slavery at a very tender age,
for instance, Harriet Tubman started working as a house servant at the age of six, while
Douglas started working as a slave at the age of nine. During the time they worked as slaves,
Fredrick and Tubman experienced the cruelties of slavery as well as witnessing the brutality that
was upon the slaves. During this ear, many African Americans were slaves and they lived under
harsh conditions and harsh rules from their owners. Some of them were beaten to death while
others injured but still forced to work. In addition, they spent most of their time working for their
owners and they spent most of their nights in the cold and hungry. Tubman and Douglass were
exposed to the brutalities of slavery at a very tender age, and this is the reason behind their

Ammonia: Beef or Pink Slime?
By: Sara Beth Wilken
In 1984, the humorous advertising slogan for Wendy s fast food chain, Where s the beef? became
very popular and was meant to show their beef patties were much larger when compared to other
fast food burger establishments (Reno Gazette). The pictures of their patties were obviously bigger,
but we all missed the most important question. What is in the beef patties?
Americans consume approximately 5 billion hamburgers each year which equates to roughly 1.2
billion pounds of meat (Reno gazette). Most consumers assume that the hamburger they eat is
composed primarily of meat. However, Fast Food Burgers: What are we really eating? Published
a recent study that analyzed eight different brands of fast food hamburgers revealing a different
truth (Reno gazette). The answer of what our burgers are made of is mostly water. The amount of
water in these burgers was as much as 37 64 percent which is something most likely all consumers
would never consider (Reno gazette). This raises the question; how much actual beef are the
burgers we consume made of? Surprisingly, the meat content was as low as 2 to 15 percent in

After the division of the kingdom, many Israelites experienced displacement, loss and trauma
when they were exiled to Assyria and Babylon, and even when some of them returned to the
land, life was never the same (e.g. 2 Kings 24:14 16; but see also Jeremiah 29:4 7). Ancient Israel
possessed laws designed to ensure the just treatment of strangers and aliens, persons who were
not ethnic members of the nation but who were protected by law (e.g. Deuteronomy 24:17 18).
The law also recognised the non assimilating stranger (Leviticus 19:33 34a), whose different
customs were respected and protected. And, despite Israel s commitment to racial and religious
purity, these foreigners were able to share in Israel s cultural and religious life. The story of
Rahab (Joshua 6:24f) and Ruth (Ruth 1:1 22; 4:13 17) demonstrate the radical nature of Israel s
commitment to the welfare of the vulnerable and the outsider. The reason often given for these
gracious principles was the memory of the harsh experience of the Israelites when they were
slaves in Egypt (e.g. Exodus 23:9; Deuteronomy 10:17 19). Further, the welcome and care of
foreigners was structured into Israel s gleaning and tithing laws (Leviticus 19:9 10; Deuteronomy
14:28 29). Finally, there were designated places of sanctuary (not detention) in ancient Israel,
where refugees could live in peace and safety while their claims were being processed (Numbers
35:6 15). The New

The X chromosome is a sex chromosome which is normally seen in women as (XX) and in men (XY). The FMR1 is a mental retardation gene. Its main function is to give a set of guidelines for the body in making protein. When this gene is lengthened the process of making the protein is stopped and involves brain development and other functions. Fragile X Syndrome can be passed down through generations. A daughter born to a father who has FXS will be affected but the son will not be effected as they do not inherit the fathers X chromosome. If the mother has FXS both genders have 50% of inheriting this syndrome. Management of Fragile X Syndrome can start with an individual assessment and designing medication specifically made to help manage the effects of the syndrome. This medication can manage behavioural and emotional issues commonly seen in FXS like anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and mood instability. Management also includes for family members and people dealing with people with FXS to understand the syndrome and how to get treatment and sort out education plans if they are to attend ... • 3. The Glass Castle The Glass Castle As I first started reading The Glass Castle by Jane Walls the novel immediately caught my attention. There were many things that I found to interesting throughout the novel. Through my reading I also found certain characters or events to be annoying. The first thing I found to be interesting is staring the novel with her mother. Wall s mother is rummaging through the dumpster and she goes out of her way to avoid her mother. I was overcome with panic that she s see me and call out my name, and that someone on the way to the party would spot us together and mom would introduce herself and my secret would be out (12). It seems she is embarrassed that her mother is homeless and ashamed because it is a secret. I find it very interesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At a young age of three she was boiling water and making hot dogs. What you can infer is that she is mature for her age. While she was in the hospital one of the nurses tried to comfort her. One of them squeezed my hand and told I was going to be okay I know. I said, But if I m not, that s okay too (17). I found this of her to say that even if she weren t okay she would be okay to be very mature of her at a young age. I believe her parents are very interesting as well and at times can be irresponsible. For example when her brother Brian fell off of the back of the couch and they did not take him to the hospital. There was blood everywhere, Mom said but one kid in the hospital at a time is enough. Besides dad said, Brian s head is hard, I think the floor took more damage than he did (20). This is just one example of them being irresponsible. I think they should have taken him to the hospital no matter what they thought he could handle. Overall I think the events in the novel are very interesting. I believe it is an interesting novel because of her family and their actions. Through my reading I have not found the book to be boring one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Liberia Struggles Deontae Comer The Liberian Struggle Do you think you re life is hard? How would it be if civil wars, corrupt government officials, gunfire in the streets, extreme poverty, severe illness and no indoor plumbing were added? That is what most Liberians had to deal with on a daily basis, due to the problems forced upon them that they had to attempt to solve as individuals not as a country. But these problems were caused by an already weakening system that was waiting to be toppled, taken advantage of and destroyed. Many Liberians would die and many lives would be shaken before it would rise again, yet when its change comes it will be stronger than ever. But before any of this happened Liberia would first have to be established as a country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Using Celling And Clustering Mechanisms Cell LEACH [10] is based on celling and clustering mechanisms as shown in figure below; in fact, sensors are divided in sections which are called cells, then after the selection of a head of cells is done, the formation of a new cluster is achieved by the grouping of seven near cells .In this approach, it is required to transfer the cell data to the cell head in designated time using TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) method . This method is also used for delivering data from cell head to cluster head. Before transferring data to cluster heads, cell heads remove redundant information and aggregate received information from different sensors E.LEACH E LEACH E [11] protocol would improve the CH selection process compared to LEACH protocol. As LEACH protocol; this improved version is divided into different rounds. All the sensor nodes would have the same probability to be CH of the cluster in the first round. After the first round of transmission the residual energy of each node would get different, The selection of a node as CH is based on residual energy which means the one which has the highest residual energy would be chosen as CH of the cluster and other nodes with less energy will represent the members of the cluster. F.Enhanced LEACH (E LEACH) E LEACH [12] is based on LEACH protocol to balance the energy consumption of sensor nodes in order to solve the overload energy consumption problem. This protocol adopts the same round concept with the original LEACH. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Role Of Women In The 1920s INTRODUCTION The motivation behind this research is the big pace the fashion industry had taken from 1910 to the 1920s , and the interesting thing is that the media had also played a major role in expanding the idea of the importance of wearing fashionable clothes and having fashionable items ,hairstyles ,automobile etc. And I chose this topic because it also discusses how women started to emerge as a significant force and how women had started to have major roles in the American societies by joining the workforce and participating in promoting the idea of new fashion through the media since then and up until now. Before the 1920s Women rarely found jobs in male dominated fields because of their status in Victorian and Edwardian societies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After World War I it was called the Jazz Age , known for new music and dancing styles. it was also known as the Golden Twenties and everyone had money. Women started to emerge as a significant force. Before the 1920s. women rarely found jobs in male dominated fields because of their status in Victorian and Edwardian societies. However, all thi had changed in the 1920s.women more involved in visual arts as more than a hobby, new lifestyles were promoted, women were given a chance to play a role in political issues and women began to have some say in the direction of their lives. Both single and married women were earning higher paying jobs. Women were much more than just staying home with their kids and doing house work. They become independent both financially and literally. Women also earned the right to vote in 1920 after the Nineteenth Amendment was adopted which gave them the liberation they have dreamed of. They worked hard for the same or greater equality as men. This all happened due to two reasons. One was the thinning of male population due to World War I and two, the continuing awareness of the feminist movement. All this brought them closer to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Need to Understand the Phenomenon of Bilingualism,... Introduction There are not so many places in the world left, where the population is using only one their native language. People are traveling, migrating and trying to adapt to the new environment. Knowing more than one language became very common thing. Many schools all over the world practicing studies of one, some times several, foreigner languages, furthermore sometimes the language of education differs from the native language of the students. The ability of using more than one language, or so called shifting language codes, gives us an opportunity to make possible communication between people with different dimensions of psychology, culture and social settings. Knowledge of more than one language facilitates the perception of another culture, makes possible communication in modern information space. The need to understand the phenomenon of bilingualism in the context of the development of cultural values is the major task of the present stage of development of civilization. Problem area Bilinguality is the psychological state of an individual who has access to more than one linguistic code as a means of social communication; the degree of access will vary along a number of dimensions which are psychological, cognitive, psycholinguistics, social psychological, social, sociological, sociolinguistics, sociocultural and linguistic (Hamers, Blanc 2000:6) Due to globalization and increasing level of immigration, social mobility, extend of education, ... • 8. Analysis Of Citrate And Its Various Salts Essay Overview: Citrate and its various salts have been researched extensively and found to be used in most commercial settings, such as a local supermarket, as food preservatives. Hence, the level of citrate salts of various metals in our daily food has to be allocated to acceptable levels; as well enforcement of these acceptable levels requires an analytical tool capable of quick, selective and sensitive detection and quantification of citric acid levels in our daily food. This analytical method utilizes a graphite sensor to determine citrate in various beverage samples. It requires the construction of a relatively simple graphite carbon electrode for the determination of citrate levels. This method uses graphite carbon electrodes, within a Flow Injection (FI) system, as potentiometric sensors for the determination of ascorbate in food products. The mechanism supporting this method is the process of adsorption and subsequent oxidation of ascorbate on the electrode surface and the potential difference after citrate introduction. The results from this analytical method were validated against a conventional procedure, i.e. a standard titrimetric method. There are many analytical methods for determining citrate levels in samples, however, too many of these methodologies are tedious and time consuming; they require expensive materials and expensive equipment. AraГєjo et. al (2011) suggests this analytical method for it is relatively quick and inexpensive. It does not require large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A business may possess inferior employees but the huge amount of loyalty would have can send a very insignificant business to amazing heights. Likewise, those employees with unsubstantial amount of loyalty may cause tremendous business to collapse. DuPont being one of the largest chemical company in the world, it is a necessity for them to continue to work as effective and efficient as possible. To help them with such we have conducted a study on employee loyalty. With this study, we aim to come with an output that will be able to assist DuPont to design different programs to help improve the employee organizational loyalty. Through this we as well want to prove that the amount of loyalty of the employees of a business plays a significant role in the success of the corporations. Theoretical Framework John Meyer and Natalie Allen proposed the Three Components of Commitment model, which explains how organizational commitment is a psychological related idea. They suggested three factors that affect how an employee sees his/her organization. It was during this time in Mainz, Germany that a goldsmith s Johannes Gutenberg created one of the most important machines during the modern period: the printing press. The printing press was inspired by earlier uses found in China and Japan as early as the 7th century. In this time the way to print was using the method of block printing, which was a piece of wood used to print a specific piece of text. Also there are some patterns based on how the human mind processes pattern, objects, and information. ( User Interface ) Scroll bars when information on a page exceeds the viewport, a scroll bar control may be required to access the additional information. Scrolling of information should almost always occur along one axis, except in rare cases. ( Patterns for ) The problem can be more information in the page or element than can fit in the viewport. You have to provide a method to access this information. The solution for mobiles will be to display them to indicate the scrollable axes, and the relative position within the scrollable area. Whenever possible, you should make sure scrolling takes place on a single axis. This is why the whole set of patterns based around vertical scroll exist. When the situation demands, such as for zooming in to content which otherwise fits the area, you can also offer a secondary scroll axis. • 13. Stock Market and Stock Option Plan Should the company implement the proposed employee stock option plan? In a typical stock option plan, the employee is offered a specific number of shares which he/she can exercise (buy) at some specified time in the future. The price at which the employee can buy the stock is equal to the market price at the time the stockoptionwas granted (grant price). The employee s gain is equal to the market value of the stock at the time it is exercised, less the grant price. If the market price of the stock remains the same or decreases relative to the grant price, then the stock option is worthless. Employees From the employee s point of view, receiving stock options is a huge benefit as the employee can reap financial success from the firm. But is it really so? The executives may suffer from the more volatility then the market as they are too under diversified with their stake too over concentrated in a firm. Employees should not put their eggs instruments and salary into one basket. Thus, this will lead to the undervaluing of options by the employees. This shows that options are wasted on employees. Market Paranoia Stock options compensation may also lead to the market being deeply suspicious of the corporation. When top executives are paid in stock options compensation, they get huge compensation packages which are hidden away from public scrutiny. Furthermore, stock options also dilute shareholders. Management may also manipulate the market before the stock options grant date to get a better deal for themselves which would lead to excess volatility. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gps INTRODUCTION The Global Positioning System, commonly referred to as the GPS, is one of the greatest innovations that truly revolutionized the way we function in the 21st century. It s a space based satellite navigation system that uses 27 satellites and a wide range of networks of powerful computers used to send signals down to earth. These signals carry a time code and geographical data point that allows the user to pinpoint their exact position, speed and time anywhere on the planet. Centuries ago, explorers used clues such as the position of the sun during the day as a means of navigating but these left explorers helplessly lost. 2. The president along with many of his entourage survived the shooting despite the heavy infliction of internal and external injuries. The criminal justice system under which all men and women are tried holds a concept called mens rea, a Latin phrase that means state of mind . There is however, no scientific proof confirming the causal relationship between mental illness and criminal behavior based on a deeper neurological working of the brain sciences. The psychiatrist finds himself/herself in a double bind where with no clear medical definition of mental illness, he /she must answer questions of legal insanity beliefs of human rationality, and free will instead of basing it on more concrete scientific facts. The Indwelling Urinary Catheter And Urinary Retention Problem The indwelling urinary catheter can be inserted for a long period with frequent changes between 4 6 weeks (Taylor, Lillis, LeMone, Lynn, 2011). However, the Foley can also be a potential source for UTI and bacteriuria (Taylor et al., 2011). The necessity of reducing the patient s period of time on a Foley and helping him or her to quickly regain normal bladder function is significant. Performing bladder training through clamping the urinary catheter is reported to decrease the frequency of urinary retention, shorten the period of returning to normal bladder function, and stimulate normal bladder filling and emptying by improving bladder tone and sensation (Nyman, 2012). When one thinks critically, bladder retraining seems to be reasonable and necessary but there is always the need of evidence based evaluation. The following journals are trials providing evidences and statistics about bladder retraining prior to Foley removal in different populations presented with urinary retention problem. The chosen population in this journal were patients with hip fracture at a Swedish university hospital (Nyman, Johansson, Gustafsson, 2010). Patients with hip fracture experience long periods of bed rest and pain resulting in dysuria, which requires the insertion of a Foley before surgery. Analysis Of White Tigers By Maxine Hong-Kingston One of my first impressions of the story White Tigers by Maxine Hong Kingston is that the story that she shares with the reader is what I believed to be a dream that she had. I thought that this dream was inspired by the times her and her mother spoke their own language, talk story. Talking story is a dialect that transcends our basic comprehension of communication. It is the hybrid of our own language, and the power of storytelling fused upon one another. I thought that Kingston told us this story because it was the best dream that she has ever imagined. This story was so moving for her since she felt a deep connection with it. However, I assumed that this story was just generic. I overlooked the familiarity that this story had. I envisioned that Hong Kingston was telling us her own version of the tale of Fa Mu Lan. Thousands of years ago, The Ballad of Fa Mu Lan, written by Tzu Yeh is about a woman, Fa Mu Lan. Mu Lan was extraordinary because she took her father s place in battle when he was chosen to fight. Not only was she brave, and thoughtful, she was the first ever woman to go to battle and live. Then I went back to White Tigers, and saw that after the fantasy that she created was stated, she reflects back on her childhood which was just merely depressing. Consequently, it feels like learning a new language to those newly indoctrinated members of this culture; being required to learn a new alphabet, the phonetic alphabet, reinforces this feeling. While the mastery of this languageis slow and arduous, there is a larger purpose behind it. To protect its service members as well as its assets, the military needs every part to run smoothly and efficiently. Accordingly, they have crafted a language, and an alphabet, after George Orwell s heart: one that leaves nothing up to interpretation, one which is terse, and builds a clear and consistent picture of the point being made. Admittedly, when someone in the military attempts to spell a word using the phonetic alphabet, it goes against Orwell s second rule: Never use a long word where a short one will do, (519). They were both exposed to slavery at a very tender age, for instance, Harriet Tubman started working as a house servant at the age of six, while Douglas started working as a slave at the age of nine. During the time they worked as slaves, Fredrick and Tubman experienced the cruelties of slavery as well as witnessing the brutality that was upon the slaves. During this ear, many African Americans were slaves and they lived under harsh conditions and harsh rules from their owners. Some of them were beaten to death while others injured but still forced to work. In addition, they spent most of their time working for their owners and they spent most of their nights in the cold and hungry. Tubman and Douglass were exposed to the brutalities of slavery at a very tender age, and this is the reason behind their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Fda And The Usda Deems It Safe For Beef Manufacturers The FDA and the USDA deem it safe for beef manufacturers to use ammonia in their meat filler. In fact 70% of meat filler contains ammonia (Avila, 70 Percent of Ground Beef at Supermarkets Contains Pink Slime. ). Millions of Americans consume beef daily, and are unaware of what actually makes up the meat they are consuming. Because the hamburgeris such a staple in many American s diets it didn t take long for someone to develop a cheap solution to produce more burger product for consumers, and to make a greater profit. Beef Products Inc. in South Dakota after lots of testing came up with the solution of injecting low grade beef with ammoniaand creating a cheaper product by using fatty trimmings that were sold for pet food (Avila, 70... My goal is to reveal the facts and to bring awareness to people. Ammonia: Beef or Pink Slime? By: Sara Beth Wilken In 1984, the humorous advertising slogan for Wendy s fast food chain, Where s the beef? became very popular and was meant to show their beef patties were much larger when compared to other fast food burger establishments (Reno Gazette). The pictures of their patties were obviously bigger, but we all missed the most important question. What is in the beef patties? Americans consume approximately 5 billion hamburgers each year which equates to roughly 1.2 billion pounds of meat (Reno gazette). Most consumers assume that the hamburger they eat is composed primarily of meat. However, Fast Food Burgers: What are we really eating? Published a recent study that analyzed eight different brands of fast food hamburgers revealing a different truth (Reno gazette). The answer of what our burgers are made of is mostly water. The amount of water in these burgers was as much as 37 64 percent which is something most likely all consumers would never consider (Reno gazette). This raises the question; how much actual beef are the burgers we consume made of? Surprisingly, the meat content was as low as 2 to 15 percent in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Immigration in Australia A Baptist policy on immigration and asylum seekers The world currently faces a global refugee crisis with up to 40 million displaced people (the majority of whom are women and children). Australia currently accepts around 13,750 refugees each year as part of total planned annual immigration of around 182,000 people. This paper identifies social and political problems relating to asylum seekers and refugees. It examines the biblical teaching on a responsible Christian approach to asylum seekers and refugees, and discusses some of the ways in which Australian Baptists have responded to the challenges of immigration and asylum seekers. It concludes with a new policy proposal for the consideration of Australian Baptist Ministries, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the division of the kingdom, many Israelites experienced displacement, loss and trauma when they were exiled to Assyria and Babylon, and even when some of them returned to the land, life was never the same (e.g. 2 Kings 24:14 16; but see also Jeremiah 29:4 7). Ancient Israel possessed laws designed to ensure the just treatment of strangers and aliens, persons who were not ethnic members of the nation but who were protected by law (e.g. Deuteronomy 24:17 18). The law also recognised the non assimilating stranger (Leviticus 19:33 34a), whose different customs were respected and protected. And, despite Israel s commitment to racial and religious purity, these foreigners were able to share in Israel s cultural and religious life. The story of Rahab (Joshua 6:24f) and Ruth (Ruth 1:1 22; 4:13 17) demonstrate the radical nature of Israel s commitment to the welfare of the vulnerable and the outsider. The reason often given for these gracious principles was the memory of the harsh experience of the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt (e.g. Exodus 23:9; Deuteronomy 10:17 19). Further, the welcome and care of foreigners was structured into Israel s gleaning and tithing laws (Leviticus 19:9 10; Deuteronomy 14:28 29). Finally, there were designated places of sanctuary (not detention) in ancient Israel, where refugees could live in peace and safety while their claims were being processed (Numbers 35:6 15).
