Illegal, Forced Marriage In The Middle East
Child Marriage in the
Middle East
How do illegal, forced marriages under the age of 18, impact communities and the parties involved
mostly in the Middle East?
Overview:
Child marriage is the marriage, usually forced but may not be, between one party of under 18 and
another over the age of 18. There are many reasons for child marriage which can range anywhere from
social or religious pressure to safety, either economic or physical, for the girl and her family. As well
as how many families find girls to be economic strains as the families need to provide a dowry for the
girl. Young women tend to not be allowed to work as they are considered worthless and a burden,
especially considering that sons carry the family name and are seen as a sign of fertility in most
societies. This is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nell Vyse s Balloon Woman
It is possible that Nell Vyse utilised the wax resist method to set out the grid pattern design. This
method of delineation of the design would also prevent the various pigments from bleeding into each
other when applied. The shawl s scheme is a complex mixture of colours suggesting a woven plaid,
and as with the real thing, where the colours intersect there is a subtle change of hue. A modelled
fringing, decorated with green, lilac, and yellow complete the shawl s decoration. A figure s head is
notoriously prone to decapitation by injudicious dusting; Vyse protects the neck of the figure with
folds of the shawl. Other examples of colour variations are illustrated. Unusually for Vyse, the trained
sculptor, the Lavender Girl has an obvious flaw, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
33). Of all his vendor subjects, this design along with Tulip Woman of 1921, have proved the most
successful and profitable. The figures were an instant success, and over the next three decades, he
would continually produce editions by customer demand. Both these figures require many piece
moulds, and the decoration of the subject s overdress is far more elaborate than in his previous design
Lavender Girl, and in consequence the more labour intensive, and expensive to produce. The
overdress is an invention of multi coloured, vertical stripes, black, orange, yellow, purple and green,
applied in varying widths, some straight, some wavy. Not to tire the eye with this seemingly riot of
colour, the apron is unpainted and white. A critical examination reveals that the modelling is by
necessity pragmatic. Vyse has pragmatically modelled the subject arm supporting the child into the
figure s mass. Undercutting here would cause fragility of structure and the possibility of more piece
moulds. The moulded tulips, ranged around the outer edges of the basket, minimise accidental damage
from the over zealous housemaid s duster. They protect the separately hand modelled blooms. The
combination of mould cast and hand modelling conveys to the viewer both variety and liveliness. Vyse
usually supplied a wooden base to support his figures to guard against accidental chipping and to
protect the polished surface of furniture. An

How Well Informed are Pension Scheme Members on Their Future Pension Benefits? Evidence from
Ireland explores pertinent issues regarding Irish retirees. The article, written by Alan Barret, Irene
Mosca and Brendan Whelan appeared in the Journal of Aging and Social Policy in 2015. The paper
begins by acknowledging the significance of providing the Irish community with an adequate and
financially sustainable pension system (Allan Barret, 2015). The paper notes that in Ireland, the
private sector offers an incredible platform for enhancing pension savings. The paper s key objective
entails exploring patterns of knowledge of a private pensions system. In the study, the authors employ
the first wave of The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), Ireland s representative study of
residents aged fifty years and above. The dataset is a key strength of the paper mainly because it
includes a module regarding retirement planning. The article arrived at its goal through questioning
respondents and offering them the freedom to provide honest responses. Firstly, the authors highlight
some of the key features of the Irish Pension System including the three pillars revisited earlier on in
this paper. This is followed by an in depth literature review of the Irish pension system thereby
providing more insight into the intricacies surrounding Irelands Retirement system. The authors revisit
a 2005 study in order to comprehend potential retirees perception of future pension benefits. By

Macau Pension Fund
Table of Contents Introduction 3
1.0 Introduction
Social Security Fund (SSF) was established on 23 March 1990 to provide basic social security for the
Macau residents. According to the Act 84/89/M, Social Security fund would provide subsidies or
assistance for unemployed, sick and retired people. This was the so call the first tier of social security .
At the same time, SSF was positioned as a financially independent fund under the local government.
In Macau, Pension fund is included in the SSF, and there is no separation between the management of
pension fund and SSF. Instead, pension fund is considered as an expense from the aspect of financial
management. All the working people, including non permanent and permanent ... Show more content

During the financial crisis, there was even a negative return recorded in 2008. By ignoring year 2008,
there is still a downward trend of the return.
According to the 2010 annual report of SSF, 72.43% of SSF balance was deposited into local bank, the
remaining proportion was entrusted to fund managing company for only low risk investments. Under
the fix rate hedging between MOP and HKD, the interest rate of Macau is close to interest rate in
Hong Kong, which is similar to US interest rate. Since the 2008 financial crisis, Fed has applied the
ultra low interest rate and the interest rate is believed to be maintained until 2014. So, a 72.43% of
deposit in an investment portfolio is reasonably considered as inefficient.
3.4 Irregular government subsidies
In 2008 Macau government introduced the Wealth Partaking Scheme . Each permanent resident will
receive the cash check issue by government and each non permanent residents would received 60% of
the partaking amount to permanent resident. The aim of the scheme is to share the result of economic
development under the high inflation economy. However, in some people s view, the scheme has been
considered as supplement of social security and thus expected to transfer the scheme into regular
subsidies.
Beside the partaking scheme, Macau government established the Central Saving Plan to inject certain
capital into individual account of all the permanent attained the age of 22 in the year. The

What Is The Ruination Of Women In The 21st Century
There once stood a haven on the corner of East 63rd Street and Lexington Avenue in New York City.
The Barbizon Hotel For Women offered a port in the storm for aspiring actresses, models and female
professionals who came to New York, to pursue their dreams of fame and fortune. New York City was
a mecca for dreamers in the 1900s, and the renowned Barbizon assured impressionable ingenues
shelter and protection from the sinister side of the city and its citizens.
In spite of New York s iconic image as a world class city, the road to fame in the Big Apple was
fraught with danger; this was especially true for young women who were away from home for the first
time. Unscrupulous characters and lifestyles saw the ruination of numerous young women

Professional Learning Community Analysis
Professional Learning Community is not a term I would use to describe my school. The textbook
describes Professional Learning Communities as, ...one that promotes and values learning as an
ongoing, active collaborative process with dynamic dialogue by teachers, students, staff, principal,
parents, and the school community to improve the quality of learning and life within the school
(Roberts Pruitt, 2009 p.6). Based on that description alone, as a school we lack the basic components
of having a collaborative process with dialogue from the teachers, staff, and principal with the focus
on improving the quality of learning. Given all of the research findings and positive reviews on the
benefits of implementing Professional Learning Communities ... Show more content on

Some teachers are naturally hesitant to try new things, but I present the program as a trial run, the
teachers know that if we implement something that s not working we will examine steps to fix it
together. My principal does a great job with this, she listens to the teacher s ideas or suggestions and
will find solutions to any problem. Next, I asked, What are some benefits and challenges of PLCs?
Ms. Alexander paused and thought for a moment, the benefits are that teachers work together with a
purpose, they talk about student learning, and the teachers share the same vision. The challenge is
maintaining consistency across the board and motivating every teacher to stay committed. I have
witnessed the challenge with maintaining consistency on a few occasions at my school. For instance,
teachers were randomly grouped together for a teambuilding activity, in which teachers had to share
with their group members common challenges they face every school year. The group members then
developed a short list of tips or strategies that the teacher could use to remedy whatever challenges
they were facing. As

What Is The Relationship Between The Bolshevik And Mensheviks
The Bolsheviks (lit. one for the majority ) were a Russian political party that was founded in 1903 by
Vladimir Lenin and Alexander Bogdanov, when they split away from the Menshevik (lit. one for the
minority ) faction under the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. By 1905, the
Bolsheviks were no longer a minor faction, but one that had over 8,400 members. This number
increased to 46,000 by 1910, a time where the Mensheviks had only 38,000. The Bolsheviks and
Mensheviks continued to both gain and lose the majority in their parent party, and in 1910, they were
forced to band together due to their loss of numbers and pressure from the Tzar, even though Lenin
was strongly against the idea. Then, in 1912, the Bolsheviks broke away

Hybrid Vehicles Are Environmentally Friendly Vehicles
Hybrid vehicles, which are environmentally friendly vehicles, which will replace fossil fueled car in
the future but they have a limited range and long fueling time. As fossil fuel resources start to become
limited and non environmentally friendly, car manufacturers are looking to find ways to make hybrid
vehicles the future of transportation. Hybrid vehicles are beneficial since they are efficient, reduce
pollution, and cut global emission than the current hybrids models. As such, hybrid electric vehicles
can have real public benefits for both the environment and for energy security. Hybrid vehicles can
help reduce smog pollution by ninety percent or more in comparison to the cleanest conventional
vehicles today. Hybrids also give a rewarding tax insensitive in a way to get more people to buy and
drive hybrid vehicles to help keep the environment clean. As for now, hybrids have their strengths and
weaknesses that haven t been perfected yet, but they keep on getting better each year. The reason
hybrid vehicles get better gas mileage is because of the small electric motor that provides a little extra
power to the small engine compared to the big gasoline powered engines. Even though hybrid vehicles
have a short mile range with a small electric engine you can drive an extra mile to the gas station in
case of an emergency when you accidentally run out fuel. Hybrid cars are known to get five miles per
gallon better mileage on average than a traditional internal

Housing For Veterans Essay
A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States
of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is
an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.
Data indicates that it takes years for the trauma associated with military combat to appear, hence the
name post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After the Vietnam War it took nine to twelve years before
veterans began showing up at homeless shelters in large numbers. It s unfortunate that ANY veteran
who we reposed special trust and confidence in would someday find themselves living on the street at
ANY point in their life.

Tackling a project of this magnitude will require several phases of execution. The phases are as
follows: Non for profit (NFP) entity start up, Financing, Acquisition, Renovation, and Management.
PHASE ONE: NFP START UP
The first step we need to take is to establish a NFP entity with the primary mission of providing stable
housing for up to 24 months to military veterans. The ability to provide this type of housing for
veterans via a NFP entity will enable the organization to be eligible for a number of government
funded grants such as the Veteran Administration s Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program
and the Illinois Energy Grant. (2)
The estimated cost to establish a NFP is $3,300. This price includes but is not limited to assistance
with the development of mission statement, narrative of core programs and services, a three year
operational budget with financials, formation of NFP bylaws, articles of incorporation filing, the
preparation and submission of the 501(c) 3 application and various identification codes. (Note: Start
up figures from the website http://taylormadeindustries.com).
PHASE TWO: FINANCING This project will require a large amount of money for both capital and
operations. From a capital standpoint our end state is to build a facility that provides: 1) supportive
housing for up to 10 homeless Veterans in need of immediate and intensive services; and 2) affordable
housing for up

Judy Garland s Over The Rainbow
When the tune of Over the Rainbow , also known as Somewhere Over the Rainbow , is heard, many
people can recognize the lyrics of the nostalgic song. The original singer of the song was Judy

artists covering this song on many different occasions. Two other singers that have covered this song
are Israel Kamakawiwo ole and Jerry Lee Lewis. Each artist can bring their own personal emotions

Apple Iphone Attack
Recently, the FBI has asked Apple to create a backdoor into IPhones, allowing the government and
anyone with access, to bypass security and access the data in an IPhone. The main reason that this has
become such a popular issue is because of the aftermath of the San Bernardino attack. One of the
attackers, Syed Farook, had an IPhone that is believed to have been used to communicate with other
ISIS members. The FBI has been unable to open the phone, and is now asking Apple for a backdoor
into the phone, which Apple promptly declined. If a backdoor is generated for all IPhones, anyone

This is even the case during dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. The only exceptions to this time are
in the cases of large parties with more than six people. This was all found to be correct. Food is served
from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. and drinks until 2:00 a.m. (Barbara) After being seated the servers are
very quick to introduce themselves and accommodate you. They come right over to you in just a
couple of minutes to get drink and appetizer orders. They are very timely, returning with the drinks
ordered in just two or three minutes. Promptly they ask if a selection has been made. If no decision has
been made, the server is happy to check back in about 5 minutes to take the order. After taking the
order, the servers will refill drinks whenever necessary and ask if anything is needed. There aren t
many chances for them to visit, however, because the food comes to your table in about twenty
minutes. At which time they will again fill any drinks and get anything else that is asked for. If shrimp
is ordered they might have to go make some cocktail sauce because they don t keep it already made.
But the servers are pleased to make it. They also seem very delighted to check on the progress of the

There is a definite need for improvements in meteorology to predict where and when these super
storms will occur and for development of an accurate alert system to inform citizens to seek cover.
According to Texas A M historian, Dr. Marlene Bradford, Benjamin Franklin realized as early as 1753
...the lack of communications hindered warning regions in a storm s path. (484) Later efforts by
weather expert, John Park Finlay of the Army Signal Corps, to predict tornado formation were met
with skepticism. Finlay wrote a specialized set of rules for tornado predicting, which surprisingly were
95 98% accurate in 1884 (Bradford, 487). However, government officials were afraid that severe
storm prediction could result in widespread public panic, and his research into predicting severe
weather to prevent fatalities was squashed. No other significant research was conducted until the 1930
s. Modern tornado predicting for the past hundred years has been haphazard at best. The National
Weather Service has invested a great sum of money into research, but the results have been sporadic.
Although tornado fatalities have declined by 93% from 1925 data, the tornado warning time still does
not prevent all fatalities (Brotzge and Donner, 1715). Weather patterns change rapidly during a severe
weather outbreak, but meteorologists look for common indicators of tornadic activity. Relying on
Doppler radar and other weather

Summary Of Righteousness By Piper
Piper argues that Wright and other New Perspectivists are misunderstanding the nature of humanity.
Just as there are innumerable variations between Christian denominations of today, Piper reasons,
even if many Jews did not have a works based understanding of salvation, some certainly did. Paul
could be addressing this particular subset of Jews within Romans and Galatians. To Piper, Paul s
letters could be toward those legalistic Jews who view the Law as that which does not literally save,
but which creates spiritual superiority and in some ways, earns a degree of favor before God. Piper
views this kind of works righteousness as warped and unbiblical, citing likened issues as the purpose
for Paul s composition of Romans and Galatians. For this reason, Piper and other Reformers argue that
Wright is mistaken in his understanding of Paul s opponents within these books. Piper writes that God
s righteousness is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a matter of controversy between Wright and Piper. Piper writes that no single action, such as
keeping the covenant, is the essence of God s righteousness, because all His acts are done in
righteousness. In the same way, Piper argues, the essence of human righteousness is faithfulness to
uphold the glory of God in all that we do. The issue, however, as Piper describes, is that humans fall
short of this glory, and thus, no one is righteous. Piper would cite biblical references such as Romans
3:23 and Romans 3:10 to illustrate this Reformer perspective. Convinced that Paul is speaking of a
positive righteousness being counted to the defendant, not merely the verdict of clemency, Piper
believes that Wright s system leaves no room for imputation of righteousness, as it is traditionally
understood: Christ s obedience imputed to the sinner s account. Piper accuses Wright of muddying the
water in this area, so that it is unclear whether Wright claims that righteousness is imparted, as
believed in

Eukaryote and Prokaryote Bacterial Cells Differences
Abstract
This paper explores the functional anatomical differences between prokaryote and eukaryote bacterial
cells and the process by which substances move across the cell membranes. The cell theory is a widely
accepted explanation of the relationship between cells and living things. The cell theory states All
living things or organisms are made of cells and their products, new cells are created by old cells
dividing into two, and cells are basic building units of life (Tortora et al, 2002) Prokaryotes and
eukaryotes cells are chemically similar in their composition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Its division is by binary fission. Prokaryotes have no histones, their DNA is not associated with
histones whereas, and the DNA of eukaryotes is consistently associated with these special
chromosomal proteins called histones and with no histone. Bacteria species are differentiated by
morphology, biochemical activities, source of energy and chemical composition. Bacteria comes in
great many sizes and several shapes. Most bacteria range from 0.2 to 2.0 um in diameter and from 2 to
8 um in length. Three basic cellular arrangement of bacteria shapes are coccus( spherical), bacillus
(rod shaped), and spiral(twisted), Only pleomorphic bacteria like rhizobium and corynebacterium can
assume varieties of shapes.
However, among the structures external to the prokaryotic cell wall are the glycocalyx, flagella, axial
filaments, fimbriae and pili. Many Capsules Prokaryotes secret on their surface a substance called
glycocalyx (meaning sugar coat), which surrounds the cell. This is referred to as capsule when it is
firmly attached to the cell wall. The presence of a capsule can be determined by negative staining. If
not organized or is loosely attached to the cell wall, the glycol calyx is serves described to be a slim
layer or extracellular polysaccharide. Capsules protect pathogens from phagocytosis and cell
adherence to surfaces thereby providing nutrients to the

Heller s Use of Satire Within the Characters of Catch-22...
It is frequently said that the novel Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is about Heller s opinion on war and lack
of patriotism. Although it is understandable how one could grasp those concepts from the novel the
main crux of the novel is for the reader to have noticed Heller s use of satire within the characters.
Also to be effected by Yosarrian s evolution. Heller uses satire to portray his outlook on war but also
other aspects in society. The other aspects are value of life, misuse of power, women and the inhuman
bureaucracy of the military structure as a whole.
Heller first does this by satirizing religion when colonel Cathcart wants to become a general and uses
his religion as more of a social status than a belief in a higher power. ... Show more content on

Near the end of the novel the soldiers or enlisted men begin to realize a need to value life or even a
mere sense of safety. This realization is something that Heller had been satirizing throughout the novel
by pointing out that the enlisted men were risking their lives everyday without question for an
unstable ad unjust system. How could you have extreme urge to defend your country, if you know first
hand the detestable things that are done behind the scenes? It also makes it worse that Colonel
Cathcart and Colonel Korn represent the country to many of the men .The Plot of Catch 22 is
understand what Heller meant with his use of satire and how that was significant to the book and the
understanding of Yosarrian s evolution. Heller also has themes within the novel that display different
emotions; some of them are Confusion, sanity, hope and pity. Heller as do many other authors wants
the reader to also feel those emotions just as the characters. Yosarrian (The main character of the
story) has that affect on readers. The main reason he has that affect is because he is the character from
the novel that most can relate to and because seems to be the only one to object authority at times.
In the beginning of the novel Yosarrian hope and trust for the war and his future but self pity for his
situation with the missions. Although Yosarrian doesn t seem like the most logical character in the
novel it is proven by the

Middle age and Renaissance
Introduction
The Renaissance started after the plague in the fourteenth and fifteenth hundreds of years and was
fueled by warriors coming back from the Crusades. There was restored enthusiasm for ancient Greek
and Roman craftsmanship. Individuals were incorporated into craftsmanship. Work of art was no more
only delineations of heavenly themes. There was new enthusiasm for science, the earth and logic. This
paper aims at evaluating on the literary works of middle age and renaissance.
The Plague Begins
Life in the city was soon to change definitely. Amid the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance (1350
1450) the bubonic plague, additionally called the Black Death, crushed one portion of the number of
inhabitants in Europe. The plague, which was quite often fatal, spread most quickly in urban
communities, where individuals were in close contact with each other. The best way to stay away from
the plague was to leave the city for the nation. This arrangement was, shockingly, accessible just to
those sufficiently affluent to make the excursion.
The Plague s Effect on the Economy
The population diminish brought about by the plague prompted to economic disparity. Vendors and
tradespeople had less individuals to whom they could offer their products. Items subsequently
gathered, and the dealers and brokers endured a loss in their income. Financial hardship spread all
through the group as the individuals who

Wiz Khalifa House In The Hills Analysis
Anthoney DiModica Anthoney DiModica When a song plays, sometimes it can just jump out and hit
whoever is listening and take that person away. others can just be bland and blah. There are some
songs though that do have meaning and a story behind them. House In the Hills by Wiz Khalifa tells
the story about the artist s life, and how people focus on some of his bad habits instead of focusing on
all of the good he has done for himself, and all the beneficial things he has accomplished. People tend
to look at the stereotypical black person and focus on all of the bad situations that they may have come
from, instead of looking for the good in the person and looking at the paths that they have made for
themselves. Everyone has their own story; it is up to them to tell it, and it is up to others to ... Show

If someone has a bad habit people judge them and base the way they view them because their bad
habit and not by the good that they have done for themselves or their families. In this song by Wiz
Khalifa, he tells us how people talk about his bad habits by saying, What they don t talk about the kid
that came from nothin ; Who stuck to what he believed in and turned himself to something great; They
should use that story to motivate; But instead they d rather focus on the fact that he s a pothead; Not
the fact there s not a lot where I live, 25 and not dead. In these verses, Wiz Khalifa is saying that in his
life people don t talk about how he has gotten away from the bad places in his life. Fans, disbelievers,
media, and whoever else want to focus on his bad habit of smoking, and they try ruining his reputation

Fox News Article Analysis
Summary: I read two articles for this assignment; one was from The New York Times and the other
from Fox News. The New York Times is a mainly liberal news site, while Fox News is very openly
conservative. The subject of each of these articles focused on Ahmed Mohammed, of Irving, Texas, a
boy who built a functioning clock and brought it to show his engineering teacher, and was later on in
the day arrested for it by another teacher who suspected that it might have been a bomb. This topic has
been circle the news currently and Ahmed has gained support from Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton,
Mark Zuckerberg, and many other big names in power, politics, and science. Reflection: Just as

Fernandez and Hauser use many direct quotes from Ahmed Mohamed, Barack Obama, Josh Earnest,
Ahmed s father, and many others involved in this case. This source is very credible as it is written by
two authors, so it isn t hugely biased in anyway as it contains two individual perspectives (however
they are very similar perspectives). Because the story contains direct quotes from different
perspectives (i.e. the Irving police chief versus Josh Earnest) it shows the whole story and not just one
side of it. I initially chose this article only because I thought it was such a pure and credible source.
However I then decided to choose a source that was quite the opposite so that I could obtain a better
understanding of different perspective. The Fox News article used many quotations from political
figures and sources trying to condemn Ahmed. Some of their quotes were very illogical and didn t
have much to do with the situation. Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin blasted Obama over his
involvement in the clock controversy on Saturday, saying in a Facebook post his remarks were about
as presidential as a selfie stick. (Fox News). I think that it s important to analyze two different
perspectives regarding an issue, and all though the article in the New York Times was far more
credible, I learned more about the issue by reading

likely to get frustrated.
Since Elmer s doesn t only offer alcohol service there is a large number of differently titled

section and the legal implications of running a bar staff members such as a chef, and security are
needed. Following this, other members of staff are needed to run the bar are, bartenders, cleaners,
manager, and a maintenance team. With the bar being located in a student populated area, the
scheduling at Elmer s must be made in regards to the demand from the customer specifically on the
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Scheduling is imperative to ensure the business runs efficiently
as there is a heavy fluctuation in the amount of customers dependent on the time, and day. To run an
efficient service Elmer s needs to ensure that they are maximizing output for the cost of employees.
Because of this they have to be fully aware of the personnel consuming their service, and how they
can provide the highest quality service possible for the lowest cost, After conducting some research

The United States should have Universal Health Care

The United States should have Universal Health Care
Virtually 50 million Americans are presently without any health insurance, and a great number of
them with health insurance are struggling to pay for their medical bills. Everybody concurs that
healthcare must be accessible to all citizens, but the debate on whether the United States should adopt
a universal health system still rages. According to the Institute of Medicine (2002), the U.S. is the only
developed country that does not guarantee that its citizens have health care coverage. President Obama

Moreover, there are already existing laws in the country that demand emergency rooms for patients if
they lack any insurance. This expenses the hospital finance that they convey to clients and insurance
firms. Under universal health care program, those people that usually go without insurance cover
would be demanded to pay for it through taxes. This concept of cost distribution would reduce the
individual costs of people currently paying for insurance. It is worth noting that this system of taxation
resembles the shared costs of schooling, road construction, or even space exploration (Burke, Diego
Semelka, 2012).
Opponents of universal healthcare system assert that the program would be damaging to the quality of
health services, although researchers have established that the country s healthcare structure is not
superior to those of various developed countries that offer universal health care (Garber Skinner,
J2008). In relation to the same research, the United States is ranked second last in terms of the number
of practicing physicians. Moreover, the country has less than the normal number of hospital beds and
period of stay for severe care. The expense of the country s healthcare per individual is $8,000 more

Reflection On My Social Life In A Social Class
In the past two lectures, we discussed people and their social standings. The discussion made me
reflect on my current living situation and consider to what social class I belong. I am a college student,
obviously, but am fortunate enough to live rent free in a beautiful home where I have the entire
upstairs to myself. I am in a stable relationship with my girlfriend of over two years, I drive a nice car
that is paid for, and I have a solid job that I have had since the age of 16. I feel, by definition, this
places me firmly in the middle class. I live with my mother and two sisters. My father lives in another
state. While he does help by sending child support, my portion dropped off when I turned 18. This has
made our entire family more financially aware of everything and we have had to adjust our lifestyle in
many areas. Being in college, I am not able to work as many hours as I would like which would give
me more money in my pocket. My mother has gone back to school to further her education so she can
get a better job and more money for our household as well. Taking this into consideration, I may
actually be closer to the low end of middle class and one bad decision away from being kicked out of
my house and into instant poverty status. Just kidding, my mom would never kick me out! Although
class isn t everything, it is, unfortunately, a perception based solely on appearance that separates
individuals from each other and places them in groups . People are

Peter died leaving a positive influence. Peter built ties between Russia and Western countries. This left
a big impact because cultural diffusion was occurring. Cultural diffusion is a good thing because that
means people can exchange knowledge. Knowledge exchange can be beneficial to a country. Also,
having alliances with other countries can be excellent. If Russia were to be invaded, their Allies would
help them out and vice versa. Peter built ties because he knew it would be valuable in the long run.
Peter the Great created the table of ranks which allowed people to move up in the social class. Peter
gave people opportunities to prove that they deserve to be moved up in the social classes. This
obviously made Russian citizens very happy. They had tremendous respect for Peter. This is one of the
reasons why Peter was one of the most respected Czars in Russia s time. He developed progress in the
development of the national economy, trade, education, science, culture, and foreign policy. This led
Russia to be one of the greatest countries in Europe. Peter improved his society by using his power. If

would be a downfall. Also there would be no cultural diffusion. Peter the Great really did leave a huge

Ironclads revolutionized naval warfare all around the world, while in other places they were used to

opinion, these naval vehicles stand out the most to me. The CSS Virginia being the first ironclad to
ever engage in a battle sinking 2 ships and close to 3 in its first attack. The Monitor is a brand new

Environmental Effects Of Ozone Depletion
of ozone, and it acts like a sunshade for humans as it shields most of the harmful ultraviolet radiation
that comes from the sun. The ultraviolet radiation also takes part in forming the ozone initially as the
reaction of radiation separating the oxygen molecule made up of two atoms results in the separated
oxygen molecules recombining with other oxygen molecules to form ozone. There are three types of
Ultraviolet radiation and the three types differ in wavelength. UV A radiation, emitted at 315 400 nm
is unaffected by ozone reduction and is not as harmful as UV B radiation. UV B radiation is affected
by the decrease in atmospheric ozone and it causes the most damage to living organisms on Earth and
is emitted at 280 315 nm. The damage from UV B depends on the amount of atmospheric ozone
present and cloud cover shielding the surface from some radiation, as well as the angle of the sun in
the sky. As stratospheric ozone diminishes, proportionately more of the shorter UV B will reach the
surface of Earth affecting many living organisms. UV C is lethal as it is emitted at 200 280 nm;
however, it is completely absorbed by atmospheric ozone and oxygen. Therefore, even with severe
ozone depletion, UV C radiation will not harm the surface of the Earth.
Ozone layer depletion is simply the reduction of the amount of ozone in the stratosphere. It has been
determined that global stratospheric ozone levels have declined to mean that the ozone layer is
changing. The ozone has a large

Olaudah Equiano And Thomas Jefferson
Plenty of early American authors used religious content or ideas for political purposes. These authors
wanted to change the political world around them through publishing works with religious content.
Two of these writers were Olaudah Equiano and Thomas Jefferson. Equiano and Jefferson crafted
letters and stories that shaped then political climate during early American times that eventually
helped to build a great nation. In the biography of Thomas Jefferson it states that he wished to be
remembered for only three things; drafting the Declaration of Independence, writing and supporting
the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom (1786), and founding the University of Virginia. Fortunate
for him that is what he remembered for to this day. As for Olaudah Equiano, he has caused a great deal
of debate as to where he grew up. There has been evidence to support him growing up in the Carolinas
and there has also been evidence to support him coming from Africa. One thing is certain that he has
produced high quality written material that is read to this day. Thomas Jefferson, born 1743 in
Virginia, was a self made man. He had many activities, such as law, and politics in addition to running
a 5,000 acre plantation that he inherited from his father. Jefferson graduated from William and Mary
College, and was a talented lawyer. Jefferson was an awful public speaker, but he was a great

The Characteristics Of Gothicism In Wieland, By Charles...
For years, many have felt a sense of intrigue and fascination when it comes to the paranormal.
Thousands of films, books, and television shows are based upon the premise of the supernatural and
eerie. In his novel, Wieland, Charles Brockden Brown presents a work that has chilled the spines of
readers for over 200 years. Brown presented readers of the early nation a new genre of entertainment
called Gothicism which was divergent from the literature of the past. With the new, emerging genre,
Charles Brocken Brown provided a new perspective for readers to view characters, plot and setting.
Instead of taking the safe route, and creating a set of God fearing characters that always do the right
thing, Brown diverged from the reason and logic of Enlightenment thinkers of the 18th century and
produced a story that shied away from rationality. In his novel Wieland, Charles Brockden Brown
created a world that displayed characteristics of Gothicism as well as anti Enlightenment thinking.
The early nation had been exposed to many classical and rigid writers who wrote to inform rather than
to entertain. When Brown emerged as the first Gothic American novelist, he as well as many other
early American authors wrote using devices such as moralization in order to upgrade fiction (Nutter
lecture). Hugh Holman explains that writers who did not hold themselves to the standard of classical
thinking wrote in an unknown and foreign nature. Romantics regarded Gothicism to be foreign, ...and

Emperor Penguin Cycle
Emperor Penguin
Introduction:
The Emperor Penguin, also scientifically known as Aptenodytes forsteri, is the tallest and heaviest of
all penguin species. The Emperor Penguin is native to Antarctica and is near threatened with a stable
population. If living in the wild, it generally has a lifespan of around 20 years, but an individual can
reach 50 years of age. The Emperor penguin reproduces sexually, meaning two parents are required
during the reproduction process. Emperor penguins reach sexual maturity at the age of 3.
Reproductive parts:
Unlike humans and many other animals, female Emperor Penguins do not have a vagina and the males
do not have a penis. The main male reproductive parts are the testis, ureter, vas deferens and cloaca.
The testis grow in size during mating season to produce more sperm. The sperm then travels through
the ureter and a tube called the vas deferens. This then leads to the cloaca where the sperm is stored.
The cloaca is also an opening of the digestive, reproductive and urinary tract. The main female
reproductive parts include the ovaries, where the eggs are produced, the oviduct which is where the
egg travels through, a uterus, ureter and a cloaca which leads to the ovaries.

South And Central Afric An Undeveloped Continent
Nowadays, Africa is considered to be an undeveloped continent. Out of all the reasons Africa grew out
to be this way. In this period, there were many different types of currency in Africa; unlike in other
parts of the world where one type of currency was more used than others. For this study have chosen
four different types of currency, which are cloth, cowries, gold and slaves. We will see how their
nature influenced the economy of precolonial Africa. The conclusion reached is that the nature of the
currencies had a great impact in the underdevelopment, their nature being especially relevant when the
external trade started, because of the contrast between hard currencies with the African currencies,
provoking the latter to become soft ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are difficulties in the study of this topic. The first one is the view of the historiography. Many
economist and historians have considered Africa to be underdeveloped even before the colonialism
period, which recent studies have proved to be wrong. Africa had a well developed economic system,
where the monetization of the economy had created a class society . There needs to be more
investigation about this topic, which hopefully will bring some light to this interesting period in time.
Secondly, the lack of primary sources is another obstacle to the study of this topic, many of the ones
available are biased because they are from a European perspective. However, it is possible to find
other material in archaeology, documents and oral stories. Thirdly, the continent of Africa is huge, and
in its study, we should try to avoid generalizations, because it erases the particularities of each
territory. Therefore, as said, we are going to focus on West and Central Africa, so the study will be
more focused and specific.
There were many different types of currency in precolonial Africa. Among them the most used ones
were cowries, copper, cloth, slaves, gold, silver and salt. Different areas preferred different kinds of
currency, however, their value was recognized in all West Africa. The multiplicity of currency
indicates a lack of centralization, as well as many connections between zones. One important

There are many characters who are very important to the storyline in I, Claudius such as Livia,
Claudius, Augustus, Tiberius and Caligula. Not only does Graves depict the main character, Claudius,
clearly, but also deeply depict the characteristics of all the characters in the story. The author create all
of them as round characters. Round characters have multiple personality and traits and are thus more
like real people and are often not recognizable as stereotypes according to the definition in the Writing
Essays About Literature (Griffith 61). Livia is a good example of a round character. Livia is described
as cruel, ambitious and competent. Livia murders many people in order to maintain her power in
controlling Rome, Claudius, do you think that Livia killed [your father]? I m sure of it (Graves 155).
Livia is also different with other women at that time and she is very ambitious. She has multiple
personalities and she does not act according to the stereotype. The personalities of Augustus is also
fully developed. He is described as both a ambitious and capable emperors but at the same time
controlled by Livia. All the personalities of most of the characters are described very clearly. After
reading the book, the readers may feel like they really know these characters in person since we know
their personalities well. However, other novels usually tend to describe only the main character clearly
and deeply but not any other characters. In The Natural by Bernard Malamud, most of the characters
are just round characters. Accoeding to Writing Essays about Literature, round characters have only

The world is full of birds designed by God to survive. Some birds live in water, some in air and some
on land. One of the birds that live on land is the roadrunner. The roadrunner can be found throughout
Texas and the surrounding areas. A lot of people that watch the Road Runner cartoon have an idea of
what a road runner is that may not be true. For instance, the road does not have a long slender neck
and is not purple. It is also not a huge or tall bird. The roadrunner s speed, physical appearance and
diet make them a well designed bird for survival in the desert.
Roadrunners are very fast running birds with a speed of at least 15mph. They got their name from
being seen running along the road in front of horse drawn vehicles. They are faster than bicycles and
can catch prey easily. When they run they hand their head low so that it s head and wings are parallel
with the ground to help them run faster. They use their tail for balance and turning and to help them
stop. The long tail is perfect for balance and can help the roadrunner dodge a carnivorous bird s grasp
easily. The road runner also uses its speed to catch prey when hunting. For example, when it sees a ...

White stripes will be seen if looked up closely. Male roadrunners have a patch of blue and red skin
behind the eyes. This gives them the appearance of a bigger eye. Even though the males have the
patch of skin the males and the females look similar. The feathers of males can differ from the
females, and also the males have the crest on their head. The dark brown feathers help them
camouflage. All roadrunners have two toes on each side of their feet; two toes point forward and two
toes point backward. They are part of the perching bird family. The size of the roadrunner is 2ft. long
from the tip of its beak to its tail. The legs of the roadrunners are actually short and light

What Are The Causes Of Squash A Rebellion In Ww1
It took the entire power of the British military to stop a rebellion that was going on however they were
put into a situation that they were just not used to doing. Though they were a powerful military
everyone has their own advantages and disadvantages that made the war hard for them to fight. That
being said this is one of the biggest showings of people who did not follow their original orders. it
seemed like no matter what orders were given even if they were by a commanding officer or the King
himself they were not purposely ignored but Just not listened to. It seemed like everyone wanted to do
their own thing which was the reason that no one could really squash the rebellion. If orders were
followed and officers took advice given they most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This became the biggest downfall that the British could have had. If they wanted to stop the rebellion
they should have done so and not done so many parties and galas. Fighting till the very end with every
man you can is how you win not being gentlemanly cordial and nice. At the end if their is the ability
you fix how the people see you but the british showed a weakness in this book and the rebels
capitalized on it. They would not and did not stop until the Americas and Canada was free. It seemed
that when they were fighting the Rebels the British just did not think that this was a real effort so they
forgot all the things that they usually did. This seems that there was no one to really blame but
themselves. When they seemed to finally understand that this was a real war it was to late for them
and the French were already joining the war against the British and it was to late for the British to kick
it into high gear. If the British understood that this was a battle and just crushed it instead of run
around chasing things that were hard to capture. It seemed like in the end they were just chasing
behind instead of trying to tactically cut off so they could win and bring the colonies back into the
empire. Though they had good generals and commanders who could win battle but they did not do
anything unless their regiments had everything they wanted but this was war and not everything is
easy. In the end it was a lack of strategy and the want for a more gentlemanly fighting style seemed to
be what made the British lose America. Though they did lose the colonies trade did start back up with
them in place of the East India Trade Company which sent supplies both ways and both the colonies
and Britain

The Effect Of Pictorial Condition And Verbal Condition Essay
The effect pictorial condition and verbal condition have on the number of correct responses in a
memory test
Abstract
The aim of the experiment was to test whether pictures or words would lead to an increased
recognition response. The picture superiority effect suggests that pictures are better recognised than
words. This is shown by supporting researchers. Standing et al (1970) found that participants who
studied over 2000 pictures, 90% of those had accurately recognised them after several days. Paivio
had also suggests that pictures are dual coded which explains why pictures are better remembered than
words, which is encoded once in memory. In order to investigate whether pictures or words are best
recognised participants were split into two conditions, pictorial and verbal. In the verbal condition
participants saw words after being presented with pictures for 10 seconds whilst the pictorial condition
saw pictures. This therefore measured the participants correct recognition response in both the
pictorial condition and verbal condition. The participant completed 48 trials in each condition.
Introduction
Memory can be described as our ability to recall information from past experience, store, retrieve, and
encode information from the brain. Memory has a large capacity that allows us to learn, build new
experiences and form new relationships. (Mastin, L. 2016)
There are many types of memory including the two main types, short term memory (STM) and long
term memory

Analysis Of The Poem The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
Montresor moved at a brisk pace through the dark catacombs, looking back periodically. He had the
creeping feeling that, although obviously impossible, someone or something was following him. He
shook the idea from his head; Impossible! he said, trying to convince himself.
Even so, he still felt that odd feeling on the back of his neck.
As he hurried through the damp and foreboding passageways, he replayed the evening s events in his
mind. As he recalled Fortunato s desperate, yet futile, screams and pleadings, he felt a slight twinge
of...regret?
No, no, Montresor mumbled to himself. A man s character is his fate. He took in a shaky breath as he
walked up the vault s staircase. The fool brought it upon himself.
He paused at the top, straining his ears. Is that a cry I hear? he muttered. Or just my damned
conscience? he finished, silently.
Again, he shook the thought from his head, cautiously making his way through the palazzo; he needed
to be sure that his servants had disobeyed.
He let out a sigh of relief when the entrance was in sight. With a nervous smile, he pushed open the
doors to his home. Nemo me impune lacessit. he whispered triumphantly, emerging onto the street.
more Three days later, there is a buzz about town; the Lady Fortunato had reported that her lover had
gone missing without a trace. Considering his drinking habits, one would not think twice if he were to
be gone for one night, but three(with no word from him!) was simply unprecedented.

The Internet Is An Amazing Place
The internet is an amazing place. You can discover so many things there. People have become famous
before because of the internet. Great singers, dancers, and crazy stunts put on the internet led to them
being discovered. Some fame has lasted. Some didn t last very long at all. Some people became
famous for something embarrassing. This is Ace s story of how he became famous for fifteen minutes.
Ace is anxious about tomorrow. It was the day Ace was going to propose to his girlfriend of two years.

What Cassidy didn t know was that Kade, Ace s best friend was right behind them to record the
proposal. Ace led Cassidy to the exact place that they met, right by the jumping spiders. He grabbed
Cassidy s hands and got down on his knee. Cassidy looked shocked and nervous. Cassidy, I know we
met in a unique way, but I m just glad that I met you. I feel like this was fate playing a hand in our
lives. That day we met, Kade forced me to go in this haunted house against my will. I will forever be
grateful to him for that. If he hadn t had forced me, I don t know where we would be today. Everyday
we have gotten closer and closer and I feel like we should take the next step of our lives. So Cassidy
will you take this chance and spend the rest of our lives together? Ace waited for a response. He hoped
Cassidy like the ring he got her. Cassidy just stared at Ace for the longest time. Ace, I m so sorry.
Cassidy was in tears. Why are you apologizing? Ace had never been so confused. Why are you
crying? Ace, I just feel like we are the complete opposite of that. I feel like we have grown farther and
farther away. You say you love me but I just don t love you any more. I was going to tell you today but
I didn t realize you were going to propose. I m sorry, Ace. I hope you have a nice life and I really do
hope you find someone worth that ring. With that, Cassidy walked away. No one could believe it. Ace,
man, I m so sorry. I can

Lincoln Movie Analysis
Slavery was a massive issue many African Americans faced during the civil war. The film Lincoln,
directed by Steven Spielberg, is a fantastic historical movie. The film focuses on the life of Abraham
Lincoln during his second Presidential term. President Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the
United States at the time. Lincoln was honored by many because he advocated for the African
American people. Lincoln wished to pass the thirteenth amendment in the House of Representatives,
which abolishes slavery. He felt as though slavery was immortally wrong. Slavery was an issue for all
Africans American. Children were sold to owners for profit no matter the age. Passing this law was a
challenging issue for Lincoln and required a lot of support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being that the United States is contained with Democrats and Republicans. Lincoln success to passing
the thirteenth amendment was a controversial issue for many. As discussed in class these groups were
formed to give voice to ordinary people and to disable the Government from becoming tyrannical.
Many people disagreed with the passing of this law. Many feared that the abolishing of slaves will
affect many job opportunities for themselves. Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863,
which had freed most slaves as a fighter in the war but had not made slavery illegal. Lincoln faith
towards passing this issue was very extreme. Slaves where page the bare minimum for their service in
the war. However, in order for slavery to be abolished, Lincoln had to gain votes from Democratic and
Republican parties. Some politicians see peace as a necessary precursor to the passing of the
amendment, but others see the passing of the amendment as a step on the road to the end of the Civil
War. In order to gain votes for many different regions, Lincoln had to ensure individuals, pay and job
opportunities to be successful in the abolishment of slavery. Abraham Lincoln had a lot of faith and
patience towards the abolishment of

Essay On Point Of Sales
Leveraging Points of Sale and Profit Making for Fundraising Success POS Point of sale is the term
commonly associated with the retail industry and involves the place of transaction between a buyer
and a seller. (Kelley, p. 108) There are three major revenue streams that can leverage POS for schools
and universities; ticket sales, concessions and retail licensed merchandise. In order to make any
organization profitable and increase revenue, one must leverage every point of sale, beginning with
ticket sales. There are several different ways that organizations can increase their customer database,
upsell their current customers and solidify their longtime customers, all which will help improve their
revenue and overall bottom line. We will focus on the ways that universities and schools can do this
with and in coordination with sporting events and teams. The first and largest potential for increasing
revenue is through ticket sales. Depending on the team, the sport, and even the kind of season a team
is having (wins/losses), all of these can impact ticket revenue for schools and universities. Most
universities already have a solid foundation of repeat season ticket holders for certain events. These
would be considered longtime customers. These should be one of the first groups to solicit for
additional business because they have already shown long term interest in the school, team or sport.
They have continued to donate money, purchase their season tickets, and

Illegal, Forced Marriage In The Middle East Child Marriage in the Middle East How do illegal, forced marriages under the age of 18, impact communities and the parties involved mostly in the Middle East? Overview: Child marriage is the marriage, usually forced but may not be, between one party of under 18 and another over the age of 18. There are many reasons for child marriage which can range anywhere from social or religious pressure to safety, either economic or physical, for the girl and her family. As well as how many families find girls to be economic strains as the families need to provide a dowry for the girl. Young women tend to not be allowed to work as they are considered worthless and a burden, especially considering that sons carry the family name and are seen as a sign of fertility in most societies. • 3. Nell Vyse s Balloon Woman It is possible that Nell Vyse utilised the wax resist method to set out the grid pattern design. This method of delineation of the design would also prevent the various pigments from bleeding into each other when applied. The shawl s scheme is a complex mixture of colours suggesting a woven plaid, and as with the real thing, where the colours intersect there is a subtle change of hue. A modelled fringing, decorated with green, lilac, and yellow complete the shawl s decoration. A figure s head is notoriously prone to decapitation by injudicious dusting; Vyse protects the neck of the figure with folds of the shawl. Other examples of colour variations are illustrated. Unusually for Vyse, the trained sculptor, the Lavender Girl has an obvious flaw, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 33). Of all his vendor subjects, this design along with Tulip Woman of 1921, have proved the most successful and profitable. The figures were an instant success, and over the next three decades, he would continually produce editions by customer demand. Both these figures require many piece moulds, and the decoration of the subject s overdress is far more elaborate than in his previous design Lavender Girl, and in consequence the more labour intensive, and expensive to produce. The overdress is an invention of multi coloured, vertical stripes, black, orange, yellow, purple and green, applied in varying widths, some straight, some wavy. Not to tire the eye with this seemingly riot of colour, the apron is unpainted and white. A critical examination reveals that the modelling is by necessity pragmatic. Vyse has pragmatically modelled the subject arm supporting the child into the figure s mass. Undercutting here would cause fragility of structure and the possibility of more piece moulds. The moulded tulips, ranged around the outer edges of the basket, minimise accidental damage from the over zealous housemaid s duster. They protect the separately hand modelled blooms. The combination of mould cast and hand modelling conveys to the viewer both variety and liveliness. Vyse usually supplied a wooden base to support his figures to guard against accidental chipping and to protect the polished surface of furniture. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Well Informed Are Pension Scheme Members On Their... How Well Informed are Pension Scheme Members on Their Future Pension Benefits? Evidence from Ireland explores pertinent issues regarding Irish retirees. The article, written by Alan Barret, Irene Mosca and Brendan Whelan appeared in the Journal of Aging and Social Policy in 2015. The paper begins by acknowledging the significance of providing the Irish community with an adequate and financially sustainable pension system (Allan Barret, 2015). The paper notes that in Ireland, the private sector offers an incredible platform for enhancing pension savings. The paper s key objective entails exploring patterns of knowledge of a private pensions system. In the study, the authors employ the first wave of The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), Ireland s representative study of residents aged fifty years and above. The dataset is a key strength of the paper mainly because it includes a module regarding retirement planning. The article arrived at its goal through questioning respondents and offering them the freedom to provide honest responses. Firstly, the authors highlight some of the key features of the Irish Pension System including the three pillars revisited earlier on in this paper. This is followed by an in depth literature review of the Irish pension system thereby providing more insight into the intricacies surrounding Irelands Retirement system. The authors revisit a 2005 study in order to comprehend potential retirees perception of future pension benefits. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the financial crisis, there was even a negative return recorded in 2008. By ignoring year 2008, there is still a downward trend of the return. According to the 2010 annual report of SSF, 72.43% of SSF balance was deposited into local bank, the remaining proportion was entrusted to fund managing company for only low risk investments. Under the fix rate hedging between MOP and HKD, the interest rate of Macau is close to interest rate in Hong Kong, which is similar to US interest rate. Since the 2008 financial crisis, Fed has applied the ultra low interest rate and the interest rate is believed to be maintained until 2014. So, a 72.43% of deposit in an investment portfolio is reasonably considered as inefficient. 3.4 Irregular government subsidies In 2008 Macau government introduced the Wealth Partaking Scheme . Each permanent resident will receive the cash check issue by government and each non permanent residents would received 60% of the partaking amount to permanent resident. The aim of the scheme is to share the result of economic development under the high inflation economy. However, in some people s view, the scheme has been considered as supplement of social security and thus expected to transfer the scheme into regular subsidies. Ms. Alexander paused and thought for a moment, the benefits are that teachers work together with a purpose, they talk about student learning, and the teachers share the same vision. The challenge is maintaining consistency across the board and motivating every teacher to stay committed. I have witnessed the challenge with maintaining consistency on a few occasions at my school. For instance, teachers were randomly grouped together for a teambuilding activity, in which teachers had to share with their group members common challenges they face every school year. The group members then developed a short list of tips or strategies that the teacher could use to remedy whatever challenges they were facing. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As for now, hybrids have their strengths and weaknesses that haven t been perfected yet, but they keep on getting better each year. The reason hybrid vehicles get better gas mileage is because of the small electric motor that provides a little extra power to the small engine compared to the big gasoline powered engines. The ability to provide this type of housing for veterans via a NFP entity will enable the organization to be eligible for a number of government funded grants such as the Veteran Administration s Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program and the Illinois Energy Grant. There is a definite need for improvements in meteorology to predict where and when these super storms will occur and for development of an accurate alert system to inform citizens to seek cover. According to Texas A M historian, Dr. Marlene Bradford, Benjamin Franklin realized as early as 1753 ...the lack of communications hindered warning regions in a storm s path. (484) Later efforts by weather expert, John Park Finlay of the Army Signal Corps, to predict tornado formation were met with skepticism. Finlay wrote a specialized set of rules for tornado predicting, which surprisingly were 95 98% accurate in 1884 (Bradford, 487). However, government officials were afraid that severe storm prediction could result in widespread public panic, and his research into predicting severe weather to prevent fatalities was squashed. No other significant research was conducted until the 1930 s. Modern tornado predicting for the past hundred years has been haphazard at best. The National Weather Service has invested a great sum of money into research, but the results have been sporadic. Although tornado fatalities have declined by 93% from 1925 data, the tornado warning time still does not prevent all fatalities (Brotzge and Donner, 1715). Just as there are innumerable variations between Christian denominations of today, Piper reasons, even if many Jews did not have a works based understanding of salvation, some certainly did. Paul could be addressing this particular subset of Jews within Romans and Galatians. To Piper, Paul s letters could be toward those legalistic Jews who view the Law as that which does not literally save, but which creates spiritual superiority and in some ways, earns a degree of favor before God. Piper views this kind of works righteousness as warped and unbiblical, citing likened issues as the purpose for Paul s composition of Romans and Galatians. For this reason, Piper and other Reformers argue that Wright is mistaken in his understanding of Paul s opponents within these books. Piper writes that God s righteousness is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a matter of controversy between Wright and Piper. Piper writes that no single action, such as keeping the covenant, is the essence of God s righteousness, because all His acts are done in righteousness. In the same way, Piper argues, the essence of human righteousness is faithfulness to uphold the glory of God in all that we do. The issue, however, as Piper describes, is that humans fall short of this glory, and thus, no one is righteous. Piper would cite biblical references such as Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:10 to illustrate this Reformer perspective. Convinced that Paul is speaking of a positive righteousness being counted to the defendant, not merely the verdict of clemency, Piper believes that Wright s system leaves no room for imputation of righteousness, as it is traditionally understood: Christ s obedience imputed to the sinner s account. Piper accuses Wright of muddying the water in this area, so that it is unclear whether Wright claims that righteousness is imparted, as believed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Heller s Use of Satire Within the Characters of Catch-22... It is frequently said that the novel Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is about Heller s opinion on war and lack of patriotism. Although it is understandable how one could grasp those concepts from the novel the main crux of the novel is for the reader to have noticed Heller s use of satire within the characters. Also to be effected by Yosarrian s evolution. Heller uses satire to portray his outlook on war but also other aspects in society. The other aspects are value of life, misuse of power, women and the inhuman bureaucracy of the military structure as a whole. Heller also has themes within the novel that display different emotions; some of them are Confusion, sanity, hope and pity. Heller as do many other authors wants the reader to also feel those emotions just as the characters. Yosarrian (The main character of the story) has that affect on readers. The main reason he has that affect is because he is the character from the novel that most can relate to and because seems to be the only one to object authority at times. The ultraviolet radiation also takes part in forming the ozone initially as the reaction of radiation separating the oxygen molecule made up of two atoms results in the separated oxygen molecules recombining with other oxygen molecules to form ozone. There are three types of Ultraviolet radiation and the three types differ in wavelength. UV A radiation, emitted at 315 400 nm is unaffected by ozone reduction and is not as harmful as UV B radiation. UV B radiation is affected by the decrease in atmospheric ozone and it causes the most damage to living organisms on Earth and is emitted at 280 315 nm. The damage from UV B depends on the amount of atmospheric ozone present and cloud cover shielding the surface from some radiation, as well as the angle of the sun in the sky. As stratospheric ozone diminishes, proportionately more of the shorter UV B will reach the surface of Earth affecting many living organisms. UV C is lethal as it is emitted at 200 280 nm; however, it is completely absorbed by atmospheric ozone and oxygen. Therefore, even with severe ozone depletion, UV C radiation will not harm the surface of the Earth. Ozone layer depletion is simply the reduction of the amount of ozone in the stratosphere. Thousands of films, books, and television shows are based upon the premise of the supernatural and eerie. In his novel, Wieland, Charles Brockden Brown presents a work that has chilled the spines of readers for over 200 years. Brown presented readers of the early nation a new genre of entertainment called Gothicism which was divergent from the literature of the past. With the new, emerging genre, Charles Brocken Brown provided a new perspective for readers to view characters, plot and setting. Instead of taking the safe route, and creating a set of God fearing characters that always do the right thing, Brown diverged from the reason and logic of Enlightenment thinkers of the 18th century and produced a story that shied away from rationality. In his novel Wieland, Charles Brockden Brown created a world that displayed characteristics of Gothicism as well as anti Enlightenment thinking. The early nation had been exposed to many classical and rigid writers who wrote to inform rather than to entertain. When Brown emerged as the first Gothic American novelist, he as well as many other early American authors wrote using devices such as moralization in order to upgrade fiction (Nutter lecture). Many economist and historians have considered Africa to be underdeveloped even before the colonialism period, which recent studies have proved to be wrong. Africa had a well developed economic system, where the monetization of the economy had created a class society . There needs to be more investigation about this topic, which hopefully will bring some light to this interesting period in time. Secondly, the lack of primary sources is another obstacle to the study of this topic, many of the ones available are biased because they are from a European perspective. However, it is possible to find other material in archaeology, documents and oral stories. Thirdly, the continent of Africa is huge, and in its study, we should try to avoid generalizations, because it erases the particularities of each territory. Therefore, as said, we are going to focus on West and Central Africa, so the study will be more focused and specific. There were many different types of currency in precolonial Africa. Among them the most used ones were cowries, copper, cloth, slaves, gold, silver and salt. Different areas preferred different kinds of currency, however, their value was recognized in all West Africa. The multiplicity of currency indicates a lack of centralization, as well as many connections between zones. One important characteristic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Effect Of Pictorial Condition And Verbal Condition Essay The effect pictorial condition and verbal condition have on the number of correct responses in a memory test Abstract The aim of the experiment was to test whether pictures or words would lead to an increased recognition response. The picture superiority effect suggests that pictures are better recognised than words. This is shown by supporting researchers. Standing et al (1970) found that participants who studied over 2000 pictures, 90% of those had accurately recognised them after several days. Paivio had also suggests that pictures are dual coded which explains why pictures are better remembered than words, which is encoded once in memory. In order to investigate whether pictures or words are best recognised participants were split into two conditions, pictorial and verbal. In the verbal condition participants saw words after being presented with pictures for 10 seconds whilst the pictorial condition saw pictures. This therefore measured the participants correct recognition response in both the pictorial condition and verbal condition. The participant completed 48 trials in each condition. He took in a shaky breath as he walked up the vault s staircase. The fool brought it upon himself. He paused at the top, straining his ears. Is that a cry I hear? he muttered.
