Marketing Capstone
My wife and I have developed a marketing plan for the opening of a new antique store in our
neighborhood. There are three reasons we believe this will be a profitable opportunity. First, we both
love antiques, and have learned a great deal about authenticating, pricing and conserving the value of
these pieces. Next, we have business experience from our venture in consulting work. And thirdly, one
of the major antique stores in our area has ceased operations. Develop a marketing plan for business
We have completed our project in the city of Ashland, Kentucky. If our marketing research is
favorable we will opt for a storefront building in the old downtown section of South Ashland. The
reasons of the importance of this project ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Section B: Project Plan:
Project Steps. The project had regular meetings with the team members. These meetings were used to
evaluate the progress of the project. At these meetings we evaluated the project. We also discussed
how to proceed in order to plan our upcoming activities. The first step was to develop a mission state
for our business. This was critical because we needed to define exactly what business we were to be
in. Next, we would find sources of information concerning the local economy and market. It was
determined that we could use the internet and local business leaders to assist us in gaining the
necessary information. For our next step we would conduct a traffic study to determine which blocks
in our target area had the most favorable traffic patterns. After this, we researched the other antique
dealers in our area to get an idea of their sales

A Conspiracy in Politics
Politics is much more than agendas these days. It is a game involving intricate strategies and
manoeuvres to outsmart the others. Big games are played in today s political arena and these big
games are limited to the big player only. No matter how loyally or how long a person serves, the game
plan is limited only to the highest tier of the parties or maybe even less. The best and the trickiest of
games are played with a lot of confidentiality to ensure its success.
Politics, mind you, is not a child s play. Politicians are extremely smart people. By using the word
smart, I don t put them into the category of Einstiens or Newtons. What I am trying to convey is that
they are very observant and capable of noticing the smallest of opportunities. They plan with vision
and over time it pays off.
In the light of the present situation, I may sound a complete fool for what I have just said. Had
politicians been so smart and so thoughtful in their strategies then why can t the Indian National
Congress see the very evident inefficiency of Mr. Rahul Gandhi? He has become a subject of
numerous jokes on the social media and his incompetency has come to the fore over the years. It is
very clear that Rahul has failed miserably to connect to the people. On the other hand, there is Modi, a
magnetic personality with great oration skills. More importantly he has Gujarat to show for his
achievements. Is the Congress so naive to neglect it and go about doing nothing at all?
It must have

Honey Bees And Its Effect On The Agricultural Industry
Since the late 1900 s, honeybees have been mysteriously disappearing in unusually high rates across
the nation. The total number of these honey bee colonies has decreased from 5 million in the 1940s to
only 2.5 million colonies today. Even though the bee colonies have decreased, the need for pollinators,
such as bees, has increased dramatically. Declines in honey bee colony health were provoked further
in the 1980s with the arrival of new pathogens and pests. The arrival of Varroa and tracheal mites into
the United States during the 1990s created additional stress on the honey bee population. These
various mites attack both adult bees and the developing honey bee larvae and can transmit viruses.
Since honey bees are a critical link ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many theories about the cause of CCD, the majority of which are human caused. Some of
these theories include honey bee management practices, use of chemicals in bee colonies, chemical
toxins in the environment, genetically modified crops, and new pests and diseases. (Ellis) The
Agricultural Research Service ARS has been working on finding definite causes for CCD along with
aiming to enhance honey bee health as well as studying many bee diseases and parasites.
(Ars.usda.gov)
Honey bee management practices are very important in keeping the overall health and population of
the honeybees stable, along with preventing the gene pool from becoming too similar.Beekeepers not
taking proper care of the genetic biodiversity of the hives has been thought to contribute to CCD. A
lack of genetic biodiversity can make bees increasingly susceptible to any pest/disease that invades a
colony. Noncompliance with all homeowner association, and or federal ordinances, regulations, and
laws pertaining to beekeeping, has a large potential to affect the overall honeybee population. (Ellis)
Beekeepers often use chemicals within bee colonies in order to control diseases that the honeybees are
exposed to. Although helpful, recent studies have shown that the use of common agricultural
chemicals, also used by beekeepers, such as fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, and miticides can
compromise the bees immune systems making it harder for

Rhetorical Analysis Of Jonathan Ruch The Devil s Advocate
Jonathan Rauch, while making it obvious that prejudice is one of the worst things about society today,
he explains that it lies within us all. It is in fact, inherent. To believe that someone is prejudice, means
you re prejudice. There s no escaping it. He starts off his piece by addressing the ad populum
argument for the eradication of prejudice, stating The war on prejudice is now, in all likelihood, the
most uncontroversial social movement in America. , thing is about this statement, this is what is
making his piece relevant, because everyone is accepting this movement blindly, without realizing
what they are doing. Although, prejudice offers a chance to eliminate ignorance. Rauch plays the
Devil s advocate by asserting the commonality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But to make such points, Rauch uses rhetorical devices to inform the reader with said facts. Such as an
unbiased, informative expression of facts and logical conclusions drawn from them. He also provides
many examples and scenarios relevant to the enlightened view of prejudice itself. He tries and
succeeds on appealing to the logical of everyone, bringing up past pleasantries and discussing how
pretty much everyone embraces or tolerates demeaning or hurtful words that attack the identity of a
person (i.e. a racial slur). He is not denying that prejudice statements can hurt, but his argument is that
they are not violent, in fact, they are merely jokes without any real intention of hurting anyone. Rauch
also draws general sympathy through providing examples of people being persecuted because of
simply being who they are. But what really keeps the attention of the reader is his use of parallelism
and antithesis. An example being his statement God hates homosexuals is a statement of fact, not of
bias, to those who believe it; American criminals are disproportionately black is a statement of bias,
not of fact, to those who disbelieve it. It also shines a light on how oxymoronic this nature of offensive
speech is. Overall, Rauch does not come off as overly bias. But he utilizes it to cancel out other biases
made throughout the

Effects of Alcohol
There are many opinions that have been put across regarding alcohol consumption. Some are biased
while others are based on either prejudice or beliefs. However the truth is that alcohol has its own
merits and demerits. Every drinker has already at least some of the short term alcohol effects like a
hangover or a bad night s sleep. Long term effects are usually experienced when it is quite late. Heavy
drinking results to a staggering walk, indistinct words and memory lapses. Upon drinking, one
develops difficulties with their stability, judgement and harmonisation. One usually takes a gradual
reaction to stimuli, a reason why drinking poses danger to driving. This is a result of the way alcohol
alters the functionality of the central ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

another message to the brain. This is recognised as a foreign material in the stomach that ought to be

Alcohol does a lot of things to our bodies that we are not wary of (Garbutt, 2012. Some heavy
drinking habits like bingeing causes the clumping together of platelets hence causing heart disease or
stroke. It may also lead to cardiomyopathy, a dangerous condition that weakens the heart muscle and
eventually failing it. Heart rhythm abnormalities like atrial and ventricular fibrillation are also bound
to develop. Addiction is also another problem that comes along with alcohol consumption. Some
people have been witnesses to have been unstable until they grabbed a cup of gin. This is a condition
that poses danger to the drinker. Such people are not able to control their intake amount once they
commence drinking. They are also bound to lose their in inappropriate situations. According to
Klatsky, one should consider age, sex, health status, and family history before engaging in alcohol
drinking. This should also provide guidelines on what to drink and the amount to drink. Apparently, it
is proven that women are more susceptible to the alcohol effects than their male counterparts. This is
due to the reason that their bodies have

Dry scalp and dandruff What is the relation?
Description: The current discovery reports say that until and unless dry scalp is treated well, you can
never get rid of dandruff issue as both these issues are connected with unhealthy scalp condition.
It is a hardcore fact that dandruff occurs due to dry and scaly scalp and it has already been proved by
the modern researchers who deal with varied hair troubles.
How dandruff is connected with dry scalp?
If you are really willing to know the relation in between dandruff and dry scalp, then you got to
discover the major reasons behind dandruff occurrence first. Both dandruffs and dry scalp outbreaks in
the form of flakes and this is the common link in them. If a thorough dandruff analysis is made then it
will be found that both these troubles are nothing but skin troubles and this is the reason most people
visit any expert dermatologist for having the best treatment for these unwanted scalp skin oriented
troubles. If you scalp can be made flake free, then both the troubles can be efficiently tackled and
eliminated.
Scaly flakes are just dead cells that come out due to extreme dryness or lower moisture retaining
capacity of your scalp. These flakes later on take the form of dandruff which is a serious hair trouble

Anticancer Properties of Piper Betle Leaves Active Compounds
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the world (World Cancer Research Fund
International). Colostomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and biological therapy are among the most
common treatment for colorectal cancer. These treatments may be used by itself or in combination.
One of the most commonly used drugs for the treatment of colorectal cancer is 5 fluorouracil (5 FU). 5
FU is a cell cycle specific, S phase dependent fluorinated pyrimidine analogue (Yim, et al., 2006). Due
to its short biological half life, it is always used in combination with other drugs to enhance its drug
effect. However, toxicity and drug resistance often occurred in anticancer drugs combination therapy,

on colon cancer cells. Although experiments have demonstrated the chemoprotective effect of PBL;
however how it exerts its anticarcinogenic potential is not well understood. We proposed to use
proteomic approach to determine the possible mechanism(s) of PBL active compounds in enhancing
the anticancer effect of 5 FU. Proteomic approach is able to profile the overall protein expression in
colon cancer cells during PBL 5 FU induced cell death and will effectively reveal the possible
mechanism(s) of action.
2. Objectives
2.1. To isolate the active compounds from PBL extract
2.2. To investigate the potential anticancer effect of the active compounds on HT29 colon cancer cells.
2.3. To investigate the effect of the combination of anticancer drug 5 fluorouracil and PB leaves active
compounds on HT29.
2.4. To identify changes in protein expression stimulated by 5 fluorouracil and PB leaves active
compounds combination treatment and investigate the possible mechanism of actions by using top
down proteomics
3. Hypothesis
Active component isolated from Piper betle leaves (PBL) can acts as an additive to 5 fluorouracil (5

Analysis of Millard Meiss´ Painting in Florence and Siena...
This book my Millard Meiss is addressing an area of study that is lacking. This text while informative
is difficult to follow and the puts a lot of pressure on the reader to connect the dots. The content of the
early renaissance can often be a difficult time in art history to nail down and discuss just because it is
on the cusp of the late medieval and the renaissance itself. As any time of transition it can be difficult
to understand what is happening in the world of art but may have been more convincing if he had
placed this Tuscan period within the context of Europe as a whole at the time .This text by Millard
Meiss helps the audience contextualize what was was happening in Italy after the black death and in
doing so we understand the art world that much better. That being said the way in which Miess goes
about making the argument that the art of this time is regressive, is problematic. In response to the
question posed by this assignment how effective in my view is Millard Meiss s argumentation? I am
coming from the stand point that his argument is not effective. His argument is problematic because it
is unclear, difficult to follow, lacks cohesion, and puts too much work on the reader. These elemental
issues with his writing and argumentation are what in my view render the argument Millard Meiss is
trying to make ineffective throughout his text Painting in Florence and Siena after the Black Death .
Furthermore, one of the major issues with the argument that Meiss is

Effects Of Alcohol On The Alcoholic Beverage
The alcoholic beverage has long been a key element of our social world and has grown into a way of
life for many. It is something that is at almost every party that we attend, it is advertised on television,
and is promoted by many celebrities. People consume alcohol to celebrate an occasion, socialize with
their friends or strangers, or to just simply relax. Alcohol, whether it be in the form of wine, beer, or
spirits, have almost become inescapable in todays society. We often wonder the effect that is has on
different individuals, and wonder why some become so heavily addicted to it while others do not.

Some acute physical effects of having an elevated BAC level can include: reduced inhibitions, slurred
speech, motor impairment, confusion, memory problems, concentration problems, breathing problems,
violent behavior, being involved in a car accident, or in worse case scenario, death (niaaa).
When an individual finds himself or herself drinking heavily over a long period of time, they may
develop chronic physical effects of alcoholism. Alcoholism is currently listed as the third leading
cause of death in our society (dlcas). However, because many deaths related to alcohol go unreported,
some believe that alcoholism could be the number one killer in today s world (dlcas). For example,
when a person dies from the failure of an organ, the role that alcohol could have played in that failure
is not taken into consideration. It is no doubt that alcohol certainly has the potential to cause serious
physical harm to all of the body systems. Symptoms can arise in an individual s general appearance,
such as having hand tremors, irritability, jaundice, rosacea, and swelling of the parotid gland (dlcas).
The gastrointestinal tract can be affected by alcoholism producing symptoms of dyspepsia, nausea and
vomiting, diarrhea that is recurrent, abdominal pain, hypo or hyperglycemia, and can damage the liver

A Health Indicator Of Nepal Essay
PUBLC HEALTH INDICATOR
SNAP OF NEPAL
Nepal is a relatively small (population around 26.5 million) land locked country, bordered by the two
biggest countries in the world, India and China. Its renowned physical beauty makes it very
fragmented and many parts are inaccessible by modern transport and communication facilities. There
are few cities and 86% of the population lives in rural areas. The country is divided into 5
development regions, 14 zones and 75 districts. Despite its richness in biodiversity, natural resources
and cultural multiplicity, Nepal has still remained a developing country where more than 24 percent of
the people live under the poverty line. The impact of the poverty is manifest in all other sectors like
health and hygiene, education, disaster and conflict preparedness, access to and distribution of
resources, gender equity, as well as respect for humanitarian values. The transitional period of
developmental change in the legal, political, financial and diplomatic scenario indicate that the
country needs more efforts in the fields of social reformation, rehabilitation and development.

What Is Asian Americans Considered A Model Minority
Though Asians make up the largest portion of the world s population, Asian Americans are one of the
least represented minority groups within the United States. Out of an estimated 318 million people
living in the U.S., Asians account for 5.2%, or approximately 17 million people. Compared to
Hispanics at 54 million and African Americans at 42 million, Asians and/or Asian Americans are
vastly outnumbered by the two other major minority groups and even more so by the majority,
European Americans. Even though Asians are typically considered the model minority , they are faced
with the same issues that plague many other minority groups within the U.S. today to include
stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and ethnocentrism. There has been a history of discriminatory
national policies directed at the immigration of Asians to the U.S. and in times of duress, the labeling
and targeted institutional discrimination of specific ethnicities of Asian Americans as traitors based
solely on country of origin and not on the deeds and actions of said U.S. citizens (Japanese internment
camps of World War II). The label Asian American represents over 40 different subgroups, with each
having their own customs, values, and languages. Very rarely does one stop and think of the diversity
that the label Asian American represents. It can sometimes be easy to fall into the practice of believing
that all Asian Americans are the same, unless of course you deal with a variety of different ethnicities

The Issue Of Stem Cell Research
Catholics are absolutely against embryonic stem cell research. News is already talking about how the
Catholics approve for stem cell research but inside of an interview with Catholic News Service Nancy
O Brien wrote: Declaring that the stem cell research does not present a conflict between science and
religion, the U.S bishops overwhelmingly approved a statement June 13th calling the use of human
embryos in such research gravely immoral and unnecessary (O Brien Catholic News Service ). As you
can see from that message, Catholics are all for the stem cell research however they hate the fact that
embryos are involved and are even working up to get that taken care of. This research is honestly
going against everything that Catholics believe in. Multiple times inside of this document that was
submitted and approved was multiple statements of immoral judgements. One quote inside of this
document that really stood out is, The issue of stem cell research does not force us to choose between
science and ethics, much less between science and religion (O Brien Catholic News Service ). This
quote really hit the spot on this view because it has a good point, science and religion are starting to
seriously get some tension between them. The more we become technology oriented and the more we
find out different ways to do stuff then the more we are going to step on someone s toes. This quote
really hit that by saying that ethics and science don t go as much together as science and

Plagiarism is the act of using another s work without appropriate acknowledgement, is often grouped
with other cheating behaviour such as taking notes into an exam, fabricating a bibliography, lying
about personal circumstances to get special consideration and other similar actions. There is a
significant and growing body of literature on plagiarism in higher education( Park, C. 2003)

I never plagiarism not because of avoid punishment just because I don t want to cheat myself . 2rd

But situation in some relative low quality University is quite different. For example, a study by Lim
and See (2001) based in Singapore, which they describe as one of the most competitive educational
systems in the world , found that students
are morally ambivalent about academic cheating and are rather tolerant of dishonesty among their
peers. On the issue of whether cheating behaviors should be reported...a majority of students chose to
take the expedient measure of ignoring the problem rather than to blow the whistle on their peers .
Motivation not only important in University but also in future working area . the reason less adult
cheating than student is they not only have strong motivation but also take plagiarism seriously . they
realize they are truly participating in the society and nonsense to do such cheating thing .
For example , many studies have shown that academic staff and students have very different attitudes
towards cheating and plagiarism (Stern Havlicek, 1986; Anderson Obershain, 1994; Roth McCabe,
1995; Higbee Thomas, 2000). Evans Craig (1990) uncovered general agreement between high school

Why? * The future value will be larger if we compound an initial amount more often than annually.
For example, you deposit $100 in a bank that pays a 10% annual interest rate but credits interest each
6 months. Therefore, in the second 6 month period, you earn interest on your original $100 plus
interest on the interest earned during the first 6 months. 14. Define (a) the stated (or quoted or
nominal) rate, (b) the periodic rate, and (c) the effective annual rate (EAR or EFF%).
(a) The stated rate is the contracted or quoted interest rate and is also referred to as the annual

(b) The periodic rate is the annual percentage rate divided by the number of periods per year.
(c) The effective annual rate is the annual rate of interest actually being earned, as opposed to the

Difference Between Deep Ecology And Western Worldview
Every person has a different way of viewing the world that is based on what a our simple beliefs are
and with our basic beliefs and values. We are able to make sense of the world and to gain an
understanding of knowing where our place and purpose in the world, through this we are able to
choose between the behaviours of right and wrong. This is called the western worldview, where we
have an understanding of being placed in the world that is based on human dominance over nature, the
restricted use of natual resources, and increased economic growth to manage an expanding industrial
base (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ).
Western Worldviews on the Environment
When it comes to the environmental beliefs there two main worldviews, the Western worldview and
the deep ecology worldview. Although both of these worldviews are broad generalizations (Linda R.
Berg, 2008 ) they are at opposite ends of a range of different worldviews that are related to the the

Together, along with philospher George Sessions they discuss how deep ecology is an understanding
of knowing where we stand as humans in the world alongside nature and spiritual respect for life. It is

Unlike the Westen worldview, the deep ecology worldview constitutes an extreme shift in how
humankind can relate themselves to the environment (Linda R. Berg, 2008 , p. 32). Deep ecology
expressess that humans are no different to other species on the earth and that everything that breaths
life have the right to exist. It challenges individuals and cultures to share the same inner spirituality
that is connected to the natural world, but many people in this day in age have not embraced the
Western worldview or the deep ecology

Economic Impacts Of Immigrants In Canada
Each year, the number of immigrants based in Canada continues to exponentially grow. According to
statistics, it is estimated that immigrants will represent Canada s total population by 30% in 2036
(Grenier, 2017). Many of these immigrants will become the foundation and cornerstone for Canada to
prosper and become a booming country. Through the years, the positive impacts of immigrants in the
economy of Canada is seen through the economic benefits of business class immigrants, skilled
workers, and its effects to the labour workforce. Firstly, business class immigrants in Canada benefits
the economy. This is because of many entrepreneurs starting a business. According to Grenier,
business ownership rates are higher for immigrants who have been in Canada for more than 10 years,
as opposed to its Canadian born counterparts (2017). This is a positive impact on Canada s economy
because foreign entrepreneurs who start businesses also create a way for more jobs and less
unemployed citizens. More jobs because newly opened businesses will need workers. This declines
the rate of unemployed citizens because it provides one an opportunity to land a job. Also,
businessmen with a successful experience in business from abroad can help Canada expand its
marketing assets. Based on studies, Successful conducting business abroad can replicate these
achievements in Canada and thus make major economic contributions (Costigan, 2016). This provides

Intrinsic And Extrinsic Aging
In the past 100 year the human race has seen a progressive increase in life expectancy. However, these
gains have not been seen equally across different regions, genders, and socioeconomic classes. Various
cofactors impact the quality and quantity of life for individuals. Interactions between both intrinsic
and extrinsic aging contribute to variations in lifespan seen between people. The idea that we are in
control of how we age is comforting and troublesome as the level of control is often varied. Numerous
health promoting behaviors have been strongly associated with reduced age related health concerns
and a higher quality of life. Refraining from smoking, active lifestyle choices, and frequent social
participation all have health promoting tendencies, traits like these could be considered highly
available with few barriers to achieving their benefits. Meaning everyone should be able to improve
there projected aging by engaging in such traits. However, not all factors are equally accessible
education, gender, stress, diet, geographic location, and genes all greatly impact the course of aging.
With most of those factors determined at birth or early life decision the consequences they have on
aging is often not seen as a choice. Financial constraints can negatively impact diet and level of
activity direct impacting BMI. This is a growing concern in Canada with a doubling of 60 69 year olds

Social Problems Of A Social Problem
A social problem is a condition that at least some people in a community views as being undesirable.
Everyone would agree about some social problems, such as murders and DWI traffic deaths. Other
social problems may be viewed as such by certain groups of people. Teenagers who play loud music is
a public park obviously do not view as a problem, but some other people may consider it an
undesirable social condition. Some nonsmoker views smoking as an undesirable social condition that
should be banned in public buildings.
Social problems are the general factors that affect and damage society. A social problem is normally a
term used to describe problems with a particular area or group of people in the world. Social problems
often involve problems that affect real life. It also affects how people react to certain situations.
Examples can include:
Sexual transmitted desease
Anti social behavior
poverty
Drug abuse
Prostitution
Alchohal abuse
Economic Deprivation
Unemployment
Sexual abuse
Rape
Early pregnancy
Female genital mutilation
A social problem is any condition or behavior that has negative consequences for large numbers of
people and that is generally recognized as a condition or behavior that needs to be addressed. Social
issue is a problem that influences a considerable number of the individuals within a society. It is often

Cause Of The Korean War
Cause of the Korean War The Korean War is often referred to as the forgotten war, but when 5 million
people are killed during a three year period, the war should not be so easily forgotten. (Staff, 2009)
The causes of the war need to be reviewed, so that in the future, humanity can view ways to prevent it
from happening again. There are numerous factors that need to be considered when examining the
causes of the Korean War, such as the way the Korean peninsula came to be North and South Korea,
the role Korea played during the Cold War, the type of governments that were put into place after the
North and South were separated, and the support that was provided to the North and South by other
countries.

The United States also did not want the Soviet Union to strengthen their hold in the Pacific with the
fear of communism spreading across the world. This caused tensions between the two countries that
would bleed over to the commencement of the Korean War and aggravated Cold War relation between
the world s two superpowers.
The Korean War had a profound effect on the Cold War. The USSR and U.S. provided a lot of support
for North and South Korea during and after the war based on the agendas of Moscow and Washington.
After World War II, with the divided of Germany and Korea, the Cold War had started. America
backed by the United Nations wanted free governments in the world and the Soviet Union want to
have control over the world under communist governments. The Soviets saw the United Nations as a
threat in Europe and the same can be said for the Korean peninsula. (Encyclopedia, 2016) Both
superpowers of the world had their own visions of how the world should look. This is why the Cold
War influence the Korean War, because without the battle of communism versus capitalism, the
Korean War might not have happened, or would have played out very differently. The cause of the
tension in Korea started with the inconclusive split of the country, but the two governments that were
put into place after World War II fueled the fire for the start of the Korean War. The United States

Examples Of Amaterasu
Amaterasu represents a mirror, a reflection of oneself. In the famous Japanese myth, a major deity of
Shinto religion is the sun goddess Amaterasu. Shinto is a daily aspect of Japanese life where it can be
described as a belief in a unified and non duality universe, where there is no separation between man
and nature. There is a deep respect for nature and all things in the universe, which is also all a piece of
man. Man is a part of everything in the universe, including inanimate objects. Amaterasu, the sun
goddess is a symbol of self love. There are countless ways you can follow the divine example of

In the myth, after having enough of her brother s childish ways, she locked herself in a cave for
eternity. This does not mean to hide away forever because eventually, Amaterasu had to leave the cave
as well. The break is more like a boost or a rejuvenation, this time off will help keep you grounded
and relaxed long enough for you to be able to get back to work with more energy. Like Amaterasu, she
forgave herself when she hid in the cave and caused the world to become dark and empty, for she did
not know how much potential she had and happiness she brought others. This action is something that
is uncommon for people to accept. Humans are known for being hard on themselves, in all angles and
direction of their life. People have a hard time forgiving themselves because the human consciousness
has a hard time living in the present moment, it is almost always focused on the past or in the future.
Accepting your mistakes and how you feel is the key to forgiving yourself because you cannot change
the past, and trying to do so will only cause suffering. Amaterasu s self forgiveness helped realize her
immense potential and impact she had on the world. Self love and forgiveness go hand in hand
because forgiveness is a step towards absolute

Beethoven s Major Accomplishments
Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer between the Classical and Romantic eras. He was
born in December of 1770, in Bonn, Germany. Ludwig had a terrible childhood, because of his dad
who was an alcoholic most of his life, who was also a musician himself, and with that his father would
make him play the piano and practice every day and would smack him if he made a mistake. This is
how he developed such a talent for music, because of his father. Although he was deaf, he made most
of his famous and important works during that time. He still remains to be the most famous and
influential composers of all time. At the age of seventeen, his teacher and mentor sent him to Vienna,
to study more in depth of the art of music. There in Vienna, he was able to meet great musicians and
composers, such as Mozart. Ludwig would continue to grow in his knowledge of music and writing
great symphonies. From his time in Vienna, he began to excel and people began to notice him. This all
started his impact on music. From Beethoven s famous works, moonlight sonata to the 3rd symphony,
Beethoven is considered as the most well known composer between the transitions of classical music
to the romantic era. (Biography Par. 3) In 1798 when he was 26 years old, he noticed that ... Show

Essay on Gender Stereotypes in the Merchant of Venice
Themes in the Merchant of Venice
Gender stereotypes are not a modern notion and as such expectations and limitations have always
existed for both men and women. Fortunately women, who have formerly beared great burdens of
discrimination, now have very liberated roles in society as a result of slowly shifting attitudes and
values. Shakespeare was integral in challenging the subservient role expected of women in the 16th
century. Throughout the play, The Merchant of Venice , women are expressed as powerful characters
who behave, speak and live in a way that breaks away from the conformist role of females during the
16th century. Therefore, the submissive stereotype expected of women in Shakespearean time is

of women as possessions in Elizabethan time.
The characterisation of Jessica further challenges the role and expectations for women in the 16th

the most prominent male in her life to live by her own free will; definitely not a common practice of

expressed in the quote; I am a daughter to his blood; I am not to his manners (Act 2, Scene3, 18 19).
When Jessica says this as she betrays her father to secretly marry Lorenzo, it is clear that she
possesses a strong sense of defiance and strength against this dominant male, showing that she is free
to be her own person and is not going to let her life be run by her father. This brave and controversial
act by a young girl is in stark contrast to the expectations of 16th century society, revealing a hint of
disrespect in the character of Jessica that is admired as a sign of her power. Overall, the actions of
Jessica exemplify Shakespeare s construction of women as powerful characters who

Briefly outline the features of big science . What is the...
This essay will explore the varied criteria attached to the definition of Big Science. With such a vast
array of opinions on the subject, an attempt will be made to simplify and rationalise a specific
definition. Examples of The Manhattan Project and the research conducted at CERN will be
investigated to this end, and the former will be examined for its perceived effect on Big Science.
It will be argued that Big Science is simply the industrialisation of Little Science, and that the
differences between the two are a matter of scale and resources rather than a complete change of
paradigm.
What is Big Science?

Others have argued that the scale of science has been growing steadily for centuries, and that it is
impossible to pinpoint a definite start for Big Science. Derek J. de Solla Price explained that the scale
of science had been increasing over the 300 years up to the start of the Second World War, and
suggested that Big Science signified the near end of this scientific era. (Capshew Rader, 1992, p. 7)
He also postulated that an entirely different style of conducting science would soon emerge.
Some think that Big Science is the culmination of the industrialisation and commercialisation of
scientific processes and knowledge. (Capshew Rader, 1992, p. 9) This would imply that Big Science
must have an end in a technological application for use by the investor.
It could also be argued that Big Science is simply the proliferation of new methods of working to the
discipline, as found in large corporations at the time. Hughes points out the car manufacturer Ford and
the technology company General Electric as examples of innovative production companies which
required new ways of working due to their expanding workforces. (T. P. Hughes, 2004, p. 383)
Another important argument is that it is not only the centralisation of research facilities that denotes
Big Science, but also the centralisation of decisions. This practice came about as a result of larger
workforces that

Analyzing Sebastian Arredondo s Performance
This is a critique of Sebastian Arredondo s performance on the evening of Monday November 28,
2016 which took place in Recital Hall in Merrill Hall of the Jacob s School of Music. Arredondo
performed three pieces. His first piece was Domenico Scarlatti s Sonata in A Major, K.208 followed
by his Sonata in D Major, K.492. His next piece was Maurice Ravel s Valses nobles et sentimentales
(1911) which contains 8 movements; Modere Tres franc, Assez lent, Modere, Assez anime, Presque
lent, Vif, Moins vif, and Epilogue: Lent. The last piece Arredondo performed was Franz Liszt s Sonata
in B Minor, S.178. Scarlatti lived from 1685 1757 and the majority of his pieces were published after
his death. Maurice Raval lived from 1875 1937 and his piece Valses nobles et sentimentales was
published for piano in 1911. Franz Liszt lived from 1811 1886 and his Sonata in B Minor, S.178 was

Liszt s Sonata in B Minor, it was a really quiet part of the piece and one person entered and his shoes
squeaked with every step he took. And he didn t even just take a seat in the back row, he walked about
five rows in before he took a seat. I felt bad for Arredondo but he handled it like a pro because he didn

piece, the performer will leave the stage and then come back out. I understand why they do it and that
it s tradition but I found it a little strange. The performance part however, I really didn t have any

First of all it is necessary to figure out what Confucian philosophy is all about. Confucianism is
philosophy that dates back to the VI century BC and carries an ethical and political character

governance. Confucian is widespread in China and countries that had a cultural exchange with China.
So, along with the monuments of written Chinese came to Korea and Confucianism. According to
Confucian teachings, one of the main components of society is the family, where individual learns the
language, culture and religion (Yao, 2000). For centuries, men had greater power than women had.
This patriarchal family regime remains same in many countries nowadays as well as in Korea
(Sleziak, 2013). In ancient Korea, main unit of society was the clan that consisted of couple of
families having same parents and grandparents through male line. The preference thus was given to
men. Families followed Confucian orders that youngsters should unconditionally obey to the elders.
More than that, Confucian scholars argued that a person could learn important thing from family only.
Only in the family person could gain such important qualities as love of the country and a sense of
justice necessary for service to the state (Yao, 2000). However, this obey lessons did not relate to

Advantage Of Single Sex Education
Single Sex Education, Is it Ideal?
We need to give our children an introduction to single sex education when they are young. A lot of
research has shown that single sex schools have a great deal of advantages for students. With benefits
ranging from increased participation, to new activities and the loss of gender stereotypes. For
example, on the whole, girls and boys who are educated in single sex schools gain more confidence
than their coed peers. In addition, they make academic gains above those in co ed schools. They also
learn to gravitate towards untraditional areas that are not always accepted for their gender. Single sex
education also has fewer bullying reports and less distractions. Though it s hard to generalize about all
single sex schools, there are some commonalities that tend to characterize many single sex schools.
All of this may be true, yet there are still people who think that single sex schooling promotes poor
social skills and sexisim. They think that the world is a co ed world, people have to have relationships
with cross gender people. Most people get married, they have family members, they might even work

The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War
Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the
purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been
engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare
should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the
dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have
governance over warfare as a whole. For the purposes of understanding governance over privatized

Even though there has not been global governance over the Private Military Corporation, there were
some attempts at global governance over privatized violence as a whole. Two major international

Governance of the Mercenary Mercenaries have existed for years before the Middle Ages, and have

the economies contributed greatly to the prominence and strength of Mercenaries. It is also worth
noting that because of the strength and prominence of Mercenaries, it was hard to have governance
over these entities. The rise of the State fundamentally shifted the way privatized war was looked at.

Historical Events That Took Place During The Classical Period

Historically Significant Influences of Aristotle During the Classical Period, 500 232 BCE, Greece was
at the peak of its political and cultural achievement. This was also a time of war, most noteworthy
being the vast empire created by Alexander the Great. In a period containing such an immense amount
of historical significance there is no doubting that it had influenced the people born. Notorious
philosopher Aristotle is no exception, contributing a great deal to the fields of mathematics, biology
and ethics. His book titled Nicomachean Ethics contains his views on the ethics of mankind and how
they can be applied on a daily basis. This essay will look critically at how the historical events that
took place during the Classical Period may have influenced Aristotle s work. Aristotle was born in
Stagira, located in northern Greece, in 384 BCE. He later moved to Athens in 367 BCE, which was
widely recognized as both the intellectual and cultural center of ancient Greece. He exhausted close to
twenty years of his life at Plato s Academy, first as a student and then later as a teacher. Although
philosophy was a prominent study in ancient Greece it was still a relatively new idea, only beginning
to flourish in the early sixth century BCE. It was essentially a byproduct created by inquisitive
thinkers who were searching for rational methods for the mysteries of nature and mathematics. To

African American man is Morgan Freeman. In this film, Freeman s portrayal of the most powerful
man in the world seemed more presidential. There was a time when African Americans were
considered as weak and dumb. But those times have changed, and it is reflected on the big screen. In
fact, there have been several films over the past ten years that African Americans have shown as
presidents, or presidential candidates
For the longest time, one of the biggest taboos in film has been the subject of interracial relationships.
The best example of this taboo would have to be two earlier versions of William Shakespeare s,
Othello (1952, 1965) a story that deals with the subject of interracial romance. In both cases, white
actors in black face were cast to play the famous Moor of Venice (1952, 1965). But, nowadays story
has changed, a black actor playing a black character and the climate of films has also changed,
something as little as a kiss between a black man and a white woman on screen. The African American
image in the past that had been perpetuated by Yaphet Frederick Kotto as criminal has changed to
loving role of African American. In 1999 s The

At the University of Michigan, Noonan attended a luncheon talk by Curtis Hayes, a worker for the
Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), which was a student run civil rights
organization (Noonan 484). Meeting Hayes, who was almost the same age as her, inspired Noonan to
join the Movement (Noonan 484). Soon after, Tom Hayden, who had just returned from a Freedom
Ride in Georgia, spoke with Noonan about his experiences and further inspired, as well as encouraged,
Noonan to work with the Movement (Noonan 484). In 1962, Noonan attended a joint SNCC and
Students for a Democratic Society (which she was a member of at the time) conference, where she
spoke with various SNCC workers (Noonan 484). These conversations convinced Noonan of the logic
and practicality of their organization s vision, and the members welcoming spirit convinced Noonan to
join SNCC s work with the Southern Freedom Movement (Noonan 485). After her freshman year at
the University of Michigan, Noonan told her parents she wanted to drop out of school to work in
Mississippi as a full time civil rights organizer (Noonan 485). Her parents strongly feared for her
safety and, since she was still underage, her parents insisted she take summer classes in Detroit and
find a civil rights activity closer to home (Noonan 485). That summer, Noonan took classes taught by
local radicals, Seymour Faber and George Rawick, who

Osteoporosis Malady And Its Counteractive Action
ntroduction
As per World Health Organization (2004), osteoporosis is an illness that influences the casualty s
bones making them diminish in their thickness and be more powerless against crack. It has been
turned out to be specifically identified with the mass of bones that an individual figures out how to
accomplish amid both his/her adolescence and pre adult phases of life. Specialists have kept on
stressing the preventive way to deal with this sickness urging folks to guarantee that their youngsters
hone sound propensities which, as they accentuate, can actually lead them to breaking their bones
amid later phases of life. Such an awesome accentuation is put significantly in light of the fact that the
ailment has no cure. This review presents research discoveries on osteoporosis malady and its
counteractive action beginning from right on time youth.
As indicated by Lucas (2006), bones shape the system which permits the development of any kid. He
takes note of that bones, as living tissues, tend to change and that at whatever point this is going on,
specific bones are supplanted by the recently created ones. In his outline, he clarifies that amid the two
early phases of life, that is youth and immaturity, there is a bigger number of bones being saved with
the development of the skeleton than those which are being framed. He takes note of that the kid s
bone mass regularly increments till the kid achieves his/her 20s. As of right now, the singular s bones

Alliteration In Beowulf
Literary devises use utilized by authors to help show common themes as well as tone and symbolism.
The epic poem Beowulf (translated by Seamus Heany) is a three part epic of the Anglo Saxon warrior
Beowulf. First, he brought his warriors to Heorot and to the king Hrothgar to help him get rid of the
monster Grendel. Grendel is a monster, and is very isolated. Beowulf is successful and ends up killing
Grendel, and kills Grendel s mother after she returns an attack. The final part is Beowulf s final fight
with a dragon, in which he dies. Various literary terms are used in Beowulf to help provide themes of
fear of outcasts, the struggle of good and evil, and the difference between isolation and being part of a
tribe.
Kennings and alliteration are utilized to portray a theme of outsiders being evil and dangerous.
Grendel, an outcast of society, is angered by a celebration in the king, Hrothgar s hall. Grendel comes
to Hrothgar s hall every night for twelve years to wreak havoc among the hall and disturb the king.
Beowulf comes to the hall with a group of his men to rid of the monster. Grendel comes at night, filled
with rage and anger to disrupt the happiness of the hall. A kenning is used to alienate Grendel: God
cursed Grendel came greedily loping. / The bane of the race of men roamed forth, (711 712). Anglo
Saxon literature fears the unknown and the dangerous. The kenning of God cursed associates Grendel
with being an outcast, by mentioning that Grendel has been outcast

Essay On Halloween
Trick or Treat: The Origins of Halloween If Americans were asked to give examples of holidays, they
would most likely mention the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. These specific
dates, known as calendar customs, are traditional practices that have become incorporated into culture
due to social pressure, common usage, and parental or other authority (Brunvand 406). Each holiday
has rich, historical roots, and many of the customs associated with them have been transmitted over
several generations. In addition, most contemporary holiday customs vary dramatically from the date s
original purpose. In the case of Halloween, the commercialization of candy and costumes has
contributed to a more family oriented atmosphere compared to the initial auspicious and superstitious
beliefs surrounding this day. Despite its alterations throughout the years due to cultural and religious
reasons, Halloween still remains a prominent influence in popular culture that will continue to thrive
for generations to come. Halloween s inception began over two thousand year ago. This holiday is
believed to be synonymous with Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival held on October 31st that
signified the onset of winter. Samhain had religious importance as a pagan festival, and the Celtic
people often sacrificed food and animals to appease the gods. The Celts considered this time to be rife
with magic and the prime period for war and sorcery. According to one online source, It was

Online College Vs. Online Education
If you re in Nigeria, online degree has been all over the media lately. The online courses are not
something that comes easily, especially if you are dealing with foreign online universities. Online
schools or what most Nigerians call distance learning is not fun and working with your online degree
at your home allows you to learn in your own way; and allows you to retain ownership how fast you
wish to earn your degree.
Fully accredited online colleges like national Open University of Nigeria and Walden University
course materials online have earned a widely recognized form of university accreditation from one of
the top six regional accreditation boards in Nigeria.
Even till now, students enrolled in online degree programs in Nigeria are ineligible for federal student
aid unless at least half of their programs was campus based (a law that was established in 1992 and
known as the 50 percent rule), even though that is a different situation for most Nigerians rushing to
register online degree programs.
Firstly, you need to make sure your online school choice does have accreditation; this means the
institution has passed a specific level of standards through a recognized organization for upholding
quality education.
In countries like U.S and U.K, It s the Department of Education and also the Council for College
Accreditation that recognizes the Distance Education and Training Council as the accrediting
organization for distance learning institutions and education programs

Freud s Theories Applied in Inception
In every great piece of art there is usually an inspiration of some sort that gave the artist influence on
their production. In contemporary society, we often see modern artists use influences from past
theories, ideas, designs, etc. Inception, the 2010 sci fi action film, is a movie about illegal spying by
entering the minds of certain individuals by sharing dreams. Dom Cobb and his partner, Arthur, use
this tactic to extract or plant desired information from or into their unconscious. Mr. Saito, an
exceedingly wealthy business owner, asks Cobb and Arthur to perform Inception (imbedding an idea
inside a person s mind without them recognizing) on his only remaining business competitor, Maurice
Fischer. Saito wants Cobb to implant the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second function of the dream, according to Freud, is to protect the dreamer s sleep from
disruptions in the sleep environment. It is obvious to see this attribute operating in the movie
Inception. While Cobb and his team go into the mind of another individual during a dream, they often
do it on comfortable chairs, beds, or recliners. It is one team member s job to make sure that the
dreamers are not woken up by anything, or in contradiction, they wake the dreamer up if the dream is
not going as planned. The team member awakens them by measures of a kick, or a means of falling.
When you dream and you get a feeling that you are falling, it often wakes you up in a jolt. Inception
shows various scenes where the team member staying back is trying extremely hard to protect the
dreamer s from awakening in their unconscious state. Freud strategized that the personality was
composed of three elements; the id, ego, and superego. The id is the component of personality that is
present from birth, and is exclusively unconscious. According to Freud, the id is the source of all
psychic energy, making it the primary component of personality (Cherry,1). On the other hand, the ego
is the element of the personality that is responsible with reality. According to Freud, the ego develops
from the id and ensures that the impulses of the id can be expressed in a manner acceptable in the real
world (Cherry, 1). It

Essay about Marketing Research Tools
Market Research Tools
An organizational problem must be identified prior to beginning the market research process. In most
cases, a problem is a research opportunity for product improvement or the launch of a new product.
The first critical step of the marketing process involves how the research problem is defined by
specifying the research objectives; identifying the consumer population of interest, and placing the
problem in an environmental context. The very next step is to determine the research design that
involves whether or not primary or secondary data is available or required. Marketers must collect the
information and determine the type of study required before they can move on .
Primary Data
Primary data is research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cross sectional designs involve the systematic collection of responses to a consumer survey
instrument from one or more samples of respondents at one point in time. Also use the descriptive
research investigations. Casual research understands cause and effect relationships, which is generally
used by marketers when there has been a change. Independent variables and the outcome dependent
variables are the cause of such change.
Secondary Data
Secondary data, if available saves time and money because the expense of the study has already been
incurred. The internal data found in the company s reports are previous company research studies,
feedback from customers, salespeople, stores, and feedback from longtime employees. External data
reports from syndicated research firms sell the research information to advertising agencies, and
marketers. This type of data has already been collected for some purpose other than the problem at
hand.
The unique difference between primary and secondary research is the marketer s ability to answer
specific questions to seize organizations opportunities, which requires heavy budget projections and
time. Data collected as secondary research provides massive data compiled and made available to
anyone through syndicated research, government sources, and published research. Opposite to
gathering data already collected as primary data and tested.

  • 2. Marketing Capstone My wife and I have developed a marketing plan for the opening of a new antique store in our neighborhood. There are three reasons we believe this will be a profitable opportunity. First, we both love antiques, and have learned a great deal about authenticating, pricing and conserving the value of these pieces. Next, we have business experience from our venture in consulting work. And thirdly, one of the major antique stores in our area has ceased operations. Develop a marketing plan for business We have completed our project in the city of Ashland, Kentucky. If our marketing research is favorable we will opt for a storefront building in the old downtown section of South Ashland. The reasons of the importance of this project ... The project had regular meetings with the team members. These meetings were used to evaluate the progress of the project. At these meetings we evaluated the project. We also discussed how to proceed in order to plan our upcoming activities. The first step was to develop a mission state for our business. This was critical because we needed to define exactly what business we were to be in. Next, we would find sources of information concerning the local economy and market. It was determined that we could use the internet and local business leaders to assist us in gaining the necessary information. For our next step we would conduct a traffic study to determine which blocks in our target area had the most favorable traffic patterns. After this, we researched the other antique dealers in our area to get an idea of their sales ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Conspiracy in Politics Politics is much more than agendas these days. It is a game involving intricate strategies and manoeuvres to outsmart the others. Big games are played in today s political arena and these big games are limited to the big player only. No matter how loyally or how long a person serves, the game plan is limited only to the highest tier of the parties or maybe even less. The best and the trickiest of games are played with a lot of confidentiality to ensure its success. Politics, mind you, is not a child s play. Politicians are extremely smart people. By using the word smart, I don t put them into the category of Einstiens or Newtons. What I am trying to convey is that they are very observant and capable of noticing the smallest of opportunities. They plan with vision and over time it pays off. In the light of the present situation, I may sound a complete fool for what I have just said. Had politicians been so smart and so thoughtful in their strategies then why can t the Indian National Congress see the very evident inefficiency of Mr. Rahul Gandhi? He has become a subject of numerous jokes on the social media and his incompetency has come to the fore over the years. It is very clear that Rahul has failed miserably to connect to the people. On the other hand, there is Modi, a magnetic personality with great oration skills. More importantly he has Gujarat to show for his achievements. Is the Congress so naive to neglect it and go about doing nothing at all? It must have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Honey Bees And Its Effect On The Agricultural Industry Since the late 1900 s, honeybees have been mysteriously disappearing in unusually high rates across the nation. The total number of these honey bee colonies has decreased from 5 million in the 1940s to only 2.5 million colonies today. Even though the bee colonies have decreased, the need for pollinators, such as bees, has increased dramatically. Declines in honey bee colony health were provoked further in the 1980s with the arrival of new pathogens and pests. The arrival of Varroa and tracheal mites into the United States during the 1990s created additional stress on the honey bee population. These various mites attack both adult bees and the developing honey bee larvae and can transmit viruses. Since honey bees are a critical link ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many theories about the cause of CCD, the majority of which are human caused. Some of these theories include honey bee management practices, use of chemicals in bee colonies, chemical toxins in the environment, genetically modified crops, and new pests and diseases. (Ellis) The Agricultural Research Service ARS has been working on finding definite causes for CCD along with aiming to enhance honey bee health as well as studying many bee diseases and parasites. (Ars.usda.gov) Honey bee management practices are very important in keeping the overall health and population of the honeybees stable, along with preventing the gene pool from becoming too similar.Beekeepers not taking proper care of the genetic biodiversity of the hives has been thought to contribute to CCD. A lack of genetic biodiversity can make bees increasingly susceptible to any pest/disease that invades a colony. Noncompliance with all homeowner association, and or federal ordinances, regulations, and laws pertaining to beekeeping, has a large potential to affect the overall honeybee population. (Ellis) Beekeepers often use chemicals within bee colonies in order to control diseases that the honeybees are exposed to. Although helpful, recent studies have shown that the use of common agricultural chemicals, also used by beekeepers, such as fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, and miticides can compromise the bees immune systems making it harder for ... • 5. Rhetorical Analysis Of Jonathan Ruch The Devil s Advocate Jonathan Rauch, while making it obvious that prejudice is one of the worst things about society today, he explains that it lies within us all. It is in fact, inherent. To believe that someone is prejudice, means you re prejudice. There s no escaping it. He starts off his piece by addressing the ad populum argument for the eradication of prejudice, stating The war on prejudice is now, in all likelihood, the most uncontroversial social movement in America. , thing is about this statement, this is what is making his piece relevant, because everyone is accepting this movement blindly, without realizing what they are doing. Although, prejudice offers a chance to eliminate ignorance. Rauch plays the Devil s advocate by asserting the commonality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But to make such points, Rauch uses rhetorical devices to inform the reader with said facts. Such as an unbiased, informative expression of facts and logical conclusions drawn from them. He also provides many examples and scenarios relevant to the enlightened view of prejudice itself. He tries and succeeds on appealing to the logical of everyone, bringing up past pleasantries and discussing how pretty much everyone embraces or tolerates demeaning or hurtful words that attack the identity of a person (i.e. a racial slur). He is not denying that prejudice statements can hurt, but his argument is that they are not violent, in fact, they are merely jokes without any real intention of hurting anyone. Rauch also draws general sympathy through providing examples of people being persecuted because of simply being who they are. But what really keeps the attention of the reader is his use of parallelism and antithesis. An example being his statement God hates homosexuals is a statement of fact, not of bias, to those who believe it; American criminals are disproportionately black is a statement of bias, not of fact, to those who disbelieve it. It also shines a light on how oxymoronic this nature of offensive speech is. Overall, Rauch does not come off as overly bias. But he utilizes it to cancel out other biases made throughout the ... However the truth is that alcohol has its own merits and demerits. Every drinker has already at least some of the short term alcohol effects like a hangover or a bad night s sleep. Long term effects are usually experienced when it is quite late. Heavy drinking results to a staggering walk, indistinct words and memory lapses. One of the most commonly used drugs for the treatment of colorectal cancer is 5 fluorouracil (5 FU). 5 FU is a cell cycle specific, S phase dependent fluorinated pyrimidine analogue (Yim, et al., 2006). • 9. Analysis of Millard Meiss´ Painting in Florence and Siena... This book my Millard Meiss is addressing an area of study that is lacking. This text while informative is difficult to follow and the puts a lot of pressure on the reader to connect the dots. The content of the early renaissance can often be a difficult time in art history to nail down and discuss just because it is on the cusp of the late medieval and the renaissance itself. As any time of transition it can be difficult to understand what is happening in the world of art but may have been more convincing if he had placed this Tuscan period within the context of Europe as a whole at the time .This text by Millard Meiss helps the audience contextualize what was was happening in Italy after the black death and in doing so we understand the art world that much better. That being said the way in which Miess goes about making the argument that the art of this time is regressive, is problematic. In response to the question posed by this assignment how effective in my view is Millard Meiss s argumentation? I am coming from the stand point that his argument is not effective. His argument is problematic because it is unclear, difficult to follow, lacks cohesion, and puts too much work on the reader. These elemental issues with his writing and argumentation are what in my view render the argument Millard Meiss is trying to make ineffective throughout his text Painting in Florence and Siena after the Black Death . Furthermore, one of the major issues with the argument that Meiss is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is something that is at almost every party that we attend, it is advertised on television, and is promoted by many celebrities. People consume alcohol to celebrate an occasion, socialize with their friends or strangers, or to just simply relax. Alcohol, whether it be in the form of wine, beer, or spirits, have almost become inescapable in todays society. Some acute physical effects of having an elevated BAC level can include: reduced inhibitions, slurred speech, motor impairment, confusion, memory problems, concentration problems, breathing problems, violent behavior, being involved in a car accident, or in worse case scenario, death (niaaa). When an individual finds himself or herself drinking heavily over a long period of time, they may develop chronic physical effects of alcoholism. Alcoholism is currently listed as the third leading cause of death in our society (dlcas). However, because many deaths related to alcohol go unreported, some believe that alcoholism could be the number one killer in today s world (dlcas). For example, when a person dies from the failure of an organ, the role that alcohol could have played in that failure is not taken into consideration. It is no doubt that alcohol certainly has the potential to cause serious physical harm to all of the body systems. Symptoms can arise in an individual s general appearance, such as having hand tremors, irritability, jaundice, rosacea, and swelling of the parotid gland (dlcas). A Health Indicator Of Nepal Essay PUBLC HEALTH INDICATOR SNAP OF NEPAL Nepal is a relatively small (population around 26.5 million) land locked country, bordered by the two biggest countries in the world, India and China. Its renowned physical beauty makes it very fragmented and many parts are inaccessible by modern transport and communication facilities. There are few cities and 86% of the population lives in rural areas. The country is divided into 5 development regions, 14 zones and 75 districts. Despite its richness in biodiversity, natural resources and cultural multiplicity, Nepal has still remained a developing country where more than 24 percent of the people live under the poverty line. The impact of the poverty is manifest in all other sectors like health and hygiene, education, disaster and conflict preparedness, access to and distribution of resources, gender equity, as well as respect for humanitarian values. • 12. What Is Asian Americans Considered A Model Minority Though Asians make up the largest portion of the world s population, Asian Americans are one of the least represented minority groups within the United States. Out of an estimated 318 million people living in the U.S., Asians account for 5.2%, or approximately 17 million people. Compared to Hispanics at 54 million and African Americans at 42 million, Asians and/or Asian Americans are vastly outnumbered by the two other major minority groups and even more so by the majority, European Americans. Even though Asians are typically considered the model minority , they are faced with the same issues that plague many other minority groups within the U.S. today to include stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination and ethnocentrism. There has been a history of discriminatory national policies directed at the immigration of Asians to the U.S. and in times of duress, the labeling and targeted institutional discrimination of specific ethnicities of Asian Americans as traitors based solely on country of origin and not on the deeds and actions of said U.S. citizens (Japanese internment camps of World War II). The label Asian American represents over 40 different subgroups, with each having their own customs, values, and languages. Very rarely does one stop and think of the diversity that the label Asian American represents. It can sometimes be easy to fall into the practice of believing that all Asian Americans are the same, unless of course you deal with a variety of different ethnicities ... One quote inside of this document that really stood out is, The issue of stem cell research does not force us to choose between science and ethics, much less between science and religion (O Brien Catholic News Service ). In conclusion, you should always want to be there for your child, love them, and care for them. • 35. The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have governance over warfare as a whole. For the purposes of understanding governance over privatized warfare, there are three major time periods that should be reviewed: The Middle Ages, the Rise of the State, and Post Cold War society. Historical Events That Took Place During The Classical Period Troy O Donnell Professor Roberts April 27, 2015 World Literature I Historically Significant Influences of Aristotle During the Classical Period, 500 232 BCE, Greece was at the peak of its political and cultural achievement. This was also a time of war, most noteworthy being the vast empire created by Alexander the Great. In a period containing such an immense amount of historical significance there is no doubting that it had influenced the people born. Notorious philosopher Aristotle is no exception, contributing a great deal to the fields of mathematics, biology and ethics. His book titled Nicomachean Ethics contains his views on the ethics of mankind and how they can be applied on a daily basis. This essay will look critically at how the historical events that took place during the Classical Period may have influenced Aristotle s work. Aristotle was born in Stagira, located in northern Greece, in 384 BCE. He later moved to Athens in 367 BCE, which was widely recognized as both the intellectual and cultural center of ancient Greece. He exhausted close to twenty years of his life at Plato s Academy, first as a student and then later as a teacher. Although philosophy was a prominent study in ancient Greece it was still a relatively new idea, only beginning to flourish in the early sixth century BCE. It was essentially a byproduct created by inquisitive thinkers who were searching for rational methods for the mysteries of nature and mathematics. To accredit Aristotle merely ... In this film, Freeman s portrayal of the most powerful man in the world seemed more presidential. There was a time when African Americans were considered as weak and dumb. But those times have changed, and it is reflected on the big screen. In fact, there have been several films over the past ten years that African Americans have shown as presidents, or presidential candidates For the longest time, one of the biggest taboos in film has been the subject of interracial relationships. The best example of this taboo would have to be two earlier versions of William Shakespeare s, Othello (1952, 1965) a story that deals with the subject of interracial romance. In both cases, white actors in black face were cast to play the famous Moor of Venice (1952, 1965). Beowulf is successful and ends up killing Grendel, and kills Grendel s mother after she returns an attack. The final part is Beowulf s final fight with a dragon, in which he dies. Various literary terms are used in Beowulf to help provide themes of fear of outcasts, the struggle of good and evil, and the difference between isolation and being part of a tribe. Kennings and alliteration are utilized to portray a theme of outsiders being evil and dangerous. Grendel, an outcast of society, is angered by a celebration in the king, Hrothgar s hall.
