The Development And Evaluation Of Januvia Essay
The development and evaluation of Januvia® (Sitagliptin Phosphate) are illustrative of the activities
that are needed to assess the efficacy, safety and effectiveness of a new product for treating type 2
diabetes milieus. It is the first drug of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitors class that is approved
as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve the glycemic control.1 Januvia was developed by Merck
Research Laboratories and received the FDA approval on 16 October 2006.2 Preclinical/Animal
study: The animal study of MK 0431, the code name for Sitagliptin in early development phase, was
done in mice, rat, and dog. Maximum recommended daily adult human dose (MRHD) of Sitagliptin
was found 100mg/day and NOAEL 50mg/kg based on dog study.3 Two years of carcinogenic study
was conducted on mice and rat. In rat, liver adenoma/carcinoma has been seen at 60 times of MHRD.
This is probably due to chronic hepatotoxicity of the drug. No tumor incidence was observed in case
of mice up to 70 times of MHRD. Both in vitro assay and in vivo mice assay was not suggestive of
mutagenic and clastogenic nature of MK 0431. Fertility adverse effect was also not at 12 times of
MHRD)3 and Sitagliptin was labeled as pregnancy category B.4 Based on these preclinical studies on
animal, Merck submitted their Investigational New Drug (IND 65, 495) application to FDA was on
August 2002.4 Phase I: Phase I of Sitagliptin study was done on 33 volunteer humans. Following

Twelfth Night Gender Analysis

Shakespeare Term Essay
Gender is one of the most prevalent themes in William Shakespeare s comedy, Twelfth Night. In
Twelfth Night, the play is based on Viola, a twin who gets separated away from her brother in a
shipwreck. To find work, Viola undertakes the disguise of Cesario, a young male who wants to work
in the household of Duke Orsino. Orsino has been personally dealing with the love he feels for Lady
Olivia, who refuses to entertain any man since she is dealing with the loss of her brother and father. In
Orsino s efforts to have Cesario facilitate love between himself and Olivia, Olivia ends up falling in
love with Cesario. Viola has also found herself falling in love with Orsino, thus creating a love
triangle between these three. In this love triangle, Shakespeare exhibits a challenge and a
reinforcement of the gender roles that were present in the setting he personally wrote the play from.
Through Olivia s attraction to Cesario, he challenges these gender roles and through Orsino s
attraction to Cesario, he reinforces these gender roles.
1
Twelfth Night is reported to have been written in 1601/1602 to be a festival amusement for the end of
the holiday season which would have been during Shakespeare s successful career in London as a
writer and an actor [shakespeare theatre peter thomson]. In early, Seventeenth century England, both
gender hierarchy, and a husband s patriarchal role as the premier of his household,

Bootstrap Approach On Data Sampling Essay
Bootstrap Approach in Data Sampling
As shown in the previous chapter, the basic samples of data needed to calculate the confidence
intervals have distributions which depart from the traditional parametric distributions. Thus, classical
hypothesis testing procedures based on strong parametric assumptions cannot be used to estimate the
confidence intervals. In order to obtain results as reliable as possible, a statistical technique which is
applicable regardless of the form of the data probability density function has to be utilized. In other
words, this method should make no assumption about the different data distributions. One good
candidate is the bootstrap method.
The idea about bootstrapping is that we don t have enough data. To illustrate this technique, we
consider a clothing shop selling second clothing. In a week, sales per day varies with day. The second
week analysis also, shows a different trend to first week. As a business owner, one would like to
determine the customer behaviour and pattern so that planning can be done effectively to ensure
customer satisfaction. Therefore, an average or mean sales need to be determine for the first week.
This is done by taking resample data from the main data sample, which will produce a distribution
sample as indicated in (a) and (b) for week 2. The t test statistical analysis will not be the reasonable
method to determine the resalable mean value since it will recognise both (a) and (b) as normal
distribution, thus giving a

Offshore Oil Drilling and the Deepwater Horizon Spill of...
Oil is a very important fossil fuel that is used for various sources of energy. Oil supplies power to
industries, fuel for transportation, heat for buildings, and provides raw material for plastics, paints,
textiles, and other materials (hybrid cars). To access this fossil fuel, oil drilling is used. Land based oil
drilling became less productive and as the global stipulation for energy increased, technology, law, and
geology impacts stepped in and pushed the exploration of oil away from shores (CITE). With its
historical background, offshore oil drilling is one of the most important aspects of today s economy
although we are faced with its risks and consequences, such as the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion
of the Gulf of Mexico. Offshore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New technology continued to develop including rotary rigs that replaced pile drivers. Texaco and
Shell then established barge drilling, which was the process of towing small mobile platforms to new
locations at the end of drilling jobs (CITE). This resulted in the adaptation of land drilling methods in
the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico, as the oil companies continued to grow more confident
operating offshore. During the 1952 presidential election, an argument called the Tidelands dispute,
over who should manage offshore drilling became a concern when General Dwight Eisenhower
guaranteed to repair the leasing ability coastal states were deprived of in the courts. This dispute was
followed by the enactment of the Submerged Lands Act of 1953, which allowed states the right to
lease up to three marine miles from the coast. Eisenhower s rise to the presidency also helped smooth
the progress of the passage of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA) of 1953, which
provided the federal government the authority to issue leases in coastal areas beyond state jurisdiction
(CITE). Once the OCSLA was executed, leasing activity on federal submerged lands began in 1954.
At this time, oil was being produced at 133,000 barrels of oil a day, which was only two percent of
total U.S. production at that time. This

Homo Sapiens And The Extinction
Homo sapiens Role in Neanderthal Extinction
It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one
that is most adaptable to change (Evolution Quotes). So far in the saga that is Earth humanity has been
on the winning side of change. Humans have evolved over time from simple hunter gathers to an
advanced species of builders and thinkers. Humans have built complex cities, created advanced
medicine, and even left their own plant for the moon. Despite all these remarkable achievements
humans were not the first species of Homo to expand across the globe. Before Homo sapiens
dominated the Earth, their cousins Homo Neanderthals roamed Europe and Asia hunting big game and
thriving. However, between 30,000 and 40,00 years ago the Neanderthal population began to decrease
drastically. It is unclear what caused this drastic drop in Neanderthal population, but one leading
theory points an evolutionary finger at Homo sapiens. The introduction of Homo sapiens into the
Neanderthal environment negatively affected the Neanderthal population size through increased food
completion, Homo Sapien violence, and interbreeding Homo Neanderthals were a stocky species,
which had an average height of about 5ft 5in and a large brain similar to humans. Neanderthals were
well adapted to live in the cold temperature of northern Europe, and in their prime the Neanderthal
population is estimated to be as large as 70,000 individuals (Bocquet 2013, 1).

Propaganda In Ww1 Essay
Prior to 1914 to 1918, Americans followed the idealism of isolationist to remain neutral in foreign
wars and affairs. During World War I, propaganda was used to influence exit isolationism, change
America s views on immigrants, and keep Americans participating and fighting in the war.
Propaganda was used to directly appeal to the emotions and patriotism of many Americans, willing
them to join the war. It was also used to express America s ever changing ideas of immigrants, such as
the Japanese in California. All the while, propaganda still showed what control the American
government had over what its people consumed in their everyday life.Through the four year time

America entered a war that was not their battle at the start, so the American government had to keep
the interest of the people to keep the aid that people provided. The films were to keep continuity
amongst Americans and their ideals of aiding America in a foreign fight. Changing from isolationist
can be a large move, especially only doing it to fight in war. Many of the films and commercials were
showing American men drafting into the military or women working in weaponry plants. Showing
films with those ideals either persuaded Americans to keep fighting of join the fight, but idea never
changed. Americans did not see those films and automatically not want to help their nation win the
war. Propaganda was made with the intentions of making Americans help in fight and that idea was
consistent throughout the war. The image and depiction of who the bad guy was stayed the same, and
American attitudes towards those people stayed the same. Any image of the Central Powers in
propaganda stayed the same throughout any film; they were evil men, pillaging and destroying
nations. With that image in mind, Americans kept the same thoughts about any ethnic group that was
apart of the Central Powers. Being shown such images keep Americans in the same state of mind, and

Alternative Energy Sources And The Future Of Those Sources
Bhargava Velagaleti Ms. Stoner English 150 28 September 2015 Alternate Energy Sources and the
Future of those sources Some of the major on going controversies in this decade are Keystone XL

thing in common i.e energy from fossil fuels . Proponents for the Keystone XL pipeline fracking argue
that it would reduce the energy dependence on foreign oil. Although they are good for the energy
security of the US, it may be a step backwards in terms of controlling climate change and looking for

Nuclear energy seemed to start a much touted Renaissance in the US, but the feasibility of fracking
and Fukushima disaster have stopped it. Nuclear energy has huge potential to meet our energy needs
with minimal risks and no carbon emissions. There is need for developing better reactors and using
fuel sources like Thorium which is safer and more abundant than Uranium. Some of the advantages of
Thorium are it is easy to control a reaction ,produces waste products that are less radioactive and it is
difficult to convert this waster into a weapon and generate more energy per ton (Katusa ,1) . The non
feasibility of converting Thorium to a nuclear weapon has prevented it from becoming a major fuel
source (Katusa, 1) . The other major problem for developing Thorium reactors are fabricating the fuel
economically and lack of investment in the development of Thorium based reactors (Katusa ,1) .
Nuclear energy has the capability to replace fossil fuels like coal and natural gas

The documentary, Paris is Burning follows individuals involved in New York s ball culture during the
late 80 s and early 90 s, which included Black, Latino, gay, and transgender individuals (Green, 1993).
Many of the participants in the balls lived in Houses which serve not only as a team for ball

individuals are rejected by their families of origin (Green, 1993). The subjects of the film face racism,

The Bombing Of Osama Bin Laden
The 9 11 tragedies changed the lives of the world and united our
Country. The terrorist group that planned the attacks on the
United States was al Qaeda. The leader of al Qaeda was Osama bin

where he would start al Qaeda. Al
Qaeda planned carefully in the attacks on the Unites States by sending nineteen militants over a period
of several years to keep our suspicions down. They also held their meeting all across the globe. The
planning meetings were held in Malaysia, they took flying lessons in the United States, and the leaders
of al Qaeda were in Hamburg, Germany. This is how many militants got over to the United States
undetected especially the lead hijackers Mohammed Atta who was on our watch list . He was the one
who communicated with Osama Bin Laden over e mail about when the attacks were going to take
place. This was just the preparation of what is about to come the United States way. On September 11,
2001, nineteen hijackers bordered four domestic airplanes on the East Coast. Two San Francisco
bound planes would crash into the Twin Towers. At 8:46 am American Airlines flight eleven crashed
into the North Tower with maximum fuel. The United States first thought is that this must be a terrible
accident, but at 9:02 am on live national television United Airlines flight one hundred seventy five

The Theme Of Whiteness In Herman Melville s Moby-Dick
In Herman Melville s Moby Dick, whiteness or the lack of whiteness plays a significant role. The
whiteness of Ahab, Ishmael, and other sailors, and the lack of whiteness of Queequeg, and the
whiteness of nonhuman components, like the whale and the ship, address the subject of race. Melville
uses the motif of whiteness and the lack of whiteness to convey the theme that the white man s reign
in American is ultimately doomed.
To fully understand Melville s view on whiteness and race, one can look towards other literary authors
and their personal descriptions of Herman Melville. Toni Morrison describes Melville as an African
Americanist...on white supremacist culture (Levine 9 10). Because Melville did not believe in the
supremacy of the white man, one can determine that Melville also did not believe the white man
should be above all other races. Moby Dick has been considered a radically anti racist text by several
scholars (Andriano 141). D. H. Lawrence, after reading Moby Dick, writes that Melville predicted the
doom of the white man in America. Melville knew. He knew his race was doomed. His white soul,
doomed. He great white epoch, doomed. Himself doomed (160). Lawrence supports his argument with
the sinking of the Pequod because this ship belonged to Ahab, the white American man. The white
man failed in the end and was killed by his own obsession with whiteness.
When Melville was writing Moby Dick, there are claims that he read an article by Lous Agassiz.

Transhumanism And Open Bionics
Freddie Mercury once asked, with the voice of a whistling rocket, Who wants to live forever? [1]. This
song was written for the sci fi action film Highlander (1986), the story of immortal swordsmen
fighting in New York City [2]. However, this is a work of fiction and fantasy. To truly surpass the
bounds of humanity, to live potentially live forever, we must look to science and technology. Research
into prosthetic bodies and implants provides the scaffolding for controlled evolution. Nevertheless,
such enhancements are not amoral. We must examine the implications of human enhancement before
taking our first steps into Transhumanism.

The piracy of software, images, video, audio, and text has long been a concern for owners of these
digital assets. Protection schemes are usually based upon the insertion of digital watermarks into the
data. The watermarking software introduces small errors into the object being watermarked. These
intentional errors are called marks, and all the marks together constitute the watermark. The marks are
chosen so as to have an insignificant impact on the usefulness of the data and are placed in such a way
that a malicious user cannot destroy them without making the data significantly less useful.
Although watermarking does not prevent illegal copying, it deters such copying by providing a means
for establishing the original ownership of a redistributed copy.
The increasing use of databases in applications beyond behind the firewalls data processing is creating
a similar need for watermarking databases. The Internet is exerting tremendous pressure on data

Public Victory
Why is it important to master private victory before public victory? The victories you make for
yourself are a requirement before you are able to make any progress toward being better with others.
As the book said, you need to get your act together before you can be a team player. One example
being productivity, it gets you in the habit of getting the work you need to be done before going on to
the less pressing matters. Getting rid of common bad habits is a big step. Reacting and blaming issues
on your parents, friends, or even the government won t help you around others. Taking responsibility
and assessing yourself before others is a necessity if you are going to be, for example, working on a
team to develop the new popular app. Overall,

Questions On Ethics And Ethics
Issue It might be impossible for Harvard to teach ethics, was what Chuck Colson, a former lawyer, a
politician and devout Christian, noted after discovering reports on one of the school s ethics classes. A
businessman who had taken an ethics class at Harvard University, described it as practical pointers.
However, Mr. Colson argued, in an article, that Harvard s philosophical relativism makes it impossible
for them to teach real ethics. Upon discovering this article, Harvard Business school invited Mr.
Colson to deeper describe his opinion during a Distinguished Lecture series. Mr. Colson spoke to a
class packed with students, and expected to be booed, and drilled with questions. However, instead of
receiving tough questions, he only received calm comments.
Rule
Mr. Colson stated that it is impossible for Harvard University to teach real ethics, because of its
background of philosophical relativism. This statement helped to formulate the leading argument of
his speech. Mr. Colson s leading argument was that to do what is right, people need not only the
intellect, but also the will. He argued that a society without a foundation of moral absolutes, and a
moral consensus cannot survive very long. He also argued that the reason there is a lack of sound
policy is the result of the secularized views in America, and the failure to look at biblical revelation.

Domoic Acid Toxicosis Toxic Algae Poisoning in California Sea Lions

Introduction
Harmful algal blooms (HABs) which were once a rarity in marine ecosystems are now reoccurring
events that devastate recreational areas to deep water ecosystems (Anderson et al., 2016). Specifically
for California sea lions (CSLs), HABs through bioaccumulation lead to domoic acid (DA) poisoning.
Domoic Acid is naturally occurring in algal blooms; however, due to anthropogenic influences and
climate change, the population of algal blooms that contain DA are increasing (Cook et al., 2016).
With thousands of CSLs and entire marine ecosystems facing the effects of DA poisoning, veterinary
technicians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Epidemiology:
CSLs showing signs of DA poisoning at the Marine Mammal Center were sedated and studied using
MRI. Neuro radiologists viewed 34 brain scans taken and noted abnormalities in brain structure. The
severity of brain damage took into account the type of brain damage the mammal was exhibiting:
hippocampal atrophy, temporal horn enlargement, and parahippocampal atrophy, in addition to the
severity of each (Thomas, 2010). From this information, calculations were made to create a brain
damage index (BDI) for CSLs. The study showed 12 had an acute case of DA poisoning, and 22 had
chronic DA poisoning (Thomas, 2010). During a harmful algal bloom in 2014 near the Monterey Bay
region, of all the CSLs that were rescued and studied, 41% showed signs of having DA poisoning
ranging from mild to severe (Anderson et al., 2016).
Detecting the movement of DA up the food chain is a challenge. Models are currently used to predict
the number of animals affected by DA. These numbers depend heavily on being able to track and
study the animals as they move to different locations. How long an animal was in an area of HABs
and what that animal ate create a barrier in identifying how many animals have been affected and to
what degree. (Lefebvre et al., 2016)
Clinical Presentation Diagnosis: Most CSLs affected by DA show signs of being disoriented. They
often become stranded on shore and sometimes in

Call Out My Name Monologue
While the EP only runs for 22 minutes, the first 15 minutes I spent listening to the project I found
myself playing Call Out My Name over and over. The vocal performance on the song gave me the
same feeling of the hurt and pain that we heard in 2011 with The Knowing . While Abel has given us
multiple songs over the years to put us in our feelings, this is one of the few times in which you can
genuinely hear the pain in his voice. For the few of you who actually paid attention to his relationship
with Selena Gomez, you ll know that she was diagnosed with Lupus and needed a kidney transplant to
survive. The Weeknd says in the song, I said I didn t feel nothing baby, but I lied, I almost cut a piece

him until he s ready to leave. When the song ends and transitions to Try Me we see a more mature

Symbolic Interaction In How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The author of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, used symbolic interaction to describe the Grinch in the
movie. Symbolic interaction is the behavior between one another that shows symbols and body
language. The movie is about a Grinch who does not like Christmas. The Grinch believes that if he
takes the present away from the whos in Whoville that he will ruin the special Christmas spirt that the
whos have. The author used symbolic interaction by using symbols, discrimination, and interaction
towards the Grinch which shows throughout the movie. The Grinch uses symbols by saying, he
growled with his Grinch fingers nervously gumming in the video clip. This statement gives symbols
showing that the Grinch was not happy about the idea of the whos

List And Describe The Basic Principles Of Phonics Instruction
o List and describe the basic principles of phonics instruction. The goal of reading is to understand
what one reads or comprehension (National Institute for Literacy, 2006). However, for students to
achieve this goal, the basic principles of teaching phonics and teaching the foundation of phonological
decoding skills must be administered at the correct level. When decoding skill taught at the correct

what they read. Unfortunately, phonics instruction is often viewed with a negative connotation when
the instruction is not delivered through a precise and structured process;therefore, this cause phonic

more precisely of TCP. TCP combines congestion control and reliability mechanisms. This
combination allows performing congestion control without the need for explicit feedback about the
congestion state of the network, and without direct participation of the intermediate nodes. To detect
network congestion, TCP simply observes occurring packet losses. Since on the Internet, missing

Decisions with high moral intensity have more significant ethical outcomes that affect more people, so
the decision maker needs to more carefully apply ethical principles to make the best choice (Pg. 36).
Therefore, Jack should have took into consideration the consequences of his actions good and bad and
how many people would be affected by the decisions and consequences of his actions. Moral
sensitivity which is also called ethical sensitivity is a characteristic of the person, namely his or her

March of 1932 from their home in Hopewell, New Jersey. A ransom note was written and eventually
paid by the family. When the family paid the ransom, they were told they would find their infant son
on a boat of the shore of New Jersey, but it was later discovered that this boat did not exist. The body
of their infant son was found a week later a few blocks from their home. Investigators matched the
handwriting of the ransom note to the handwriting of Bruno Richard Hauptmann, who was found
guilty for kidnapping and murder. This was the first case solved by handwriting analysis.

The key component of any sacrifice, according to Girard, isthis scapegoat the sacrificial substitute.
This substitutemetonymically stands in for the member of the community who isresponsible for the
violence. Thus the scapegoat plays atheatrical role that requires a degree of dissimulation. First,
thescapegoat must both vaguely resemble and considerably differ fromthe subject it replaces. The
ambiguous characteristics of thesacrificial substitute ensures that because of its similarity tothe
instigator of the unrest, violence is actually contained. Onthe other hand, the dissimilarity of the
sacrificial substitute tothe original subject ensures that no retaliation, retribution orvengeance, that is,
no further escalation of violence results afterthe sacrifice is performed. Through this process the
scapegoat istransformed by the community into an object in which evil can beboth specified and
assuaged. The sacrificial substitute contains that is, it provides a space for and delimits violenceby
providing a legitimate outlet for it.

You may be asking yourself, what is a economic system? Or even an economy? Of course economy is
one of those loaded terms that get thrown around a lot by politicians and

as: An entire network of producers, distributors, and consumers of goods and services in a local,
regional, or national community. So In other words, any economy is absolutely everything that relates
to finances. People that sell, People who buy, what you sell and buy, how its distributed, etc. Now, an

Now, that we have some of the most successful economies, lets compare them. I see many similarities
between Marxism and a Traditional economy. They are both very laid back, and everyone is treated
equally. Capitalism, differs from the two, with the only similarity it shares with them is disregarding
the idea of having a central government. Now, out of these three, I believe that a traditional economy
would work the best. Yes, it has some serious problems, but I believe its advantages outweigh its
disadvantages.
As this paper comes to an end, I would just like to remind you of the three economic choices, and their
characteristics. Capitalism sets everything to be privately owned, and pushes the idea of two social
classes. Marxism sets the playing field equal, and treats everyone equal in every way. Finally,
Traditionalism has no rules, and everything just works out well, because it does. All in all, there are
many different factors that separate Capitalism, Marxism, and
Traditionalism. These factors make it extremely difficult to come up with an ultimate best system,
especially because they all work differently in application, then in theory. Despite

Characteristics Of A Cure For Psychopathy
Psychopathy is a collection of personality traits, which include callousness, low anxiety,
remorselessness, failure to form emotional bonds, and externalization of blame. Although the
condition effects ones personality, experts have stated that it has not been coded using the taxonomic
system DSM IV TR. Furthermore, they have considered that psychopaths are influenced by social
factors, environmental, biological and psychological factors. These factors influence social forces and
biological predispositions which in fact affects one s personality (Ogloff 2006). As early as the 19th
century the methods for a cure have not been agreed upon, because of this psychopaths have been
deemed resistant to treatment. Psychopathy has been an argued disorder for centuries, research has
been done on criminals, juveniles, whether or not it is curable/treatable. There have been many
scholarly papers written on the effectiveness of treating or a cure for psychopathy. There have been
multiple researches done in the prison systems in many countries in the world on psychopaths. In
juveniles and other adult offenders it has been found that with treatment it does make the condition
treatable. Various ways have been introduced to treat psychopaths. There are several psychological
factors associated with psychopaths, such as, social, biological and environmental. Psychopathologist

How I Changed My Life

than likely affect me forever. Looking back to this time last year I can say I am not the same person I
was. I can say around this time last year I was very content with how things were in my life. I felt
things were going to happen the way they did, and that was just how it was going to be. I had a little
self motivation but it was not enough to where I could actually believe myself. There were times
where I would wonder where I would be in the next three or four years and have no clue, and then ask
myself what have I done to prepare myself for that time when it comes. Now, there is not one bit of

Lumbar Vertebral Column, An Amazing Part Of The Human Body
Lumbar Vertebral Fracture
The Vertebral column is an amazing part of the human body. It is made up of many different pieces
that all fit together to make something that keeps the body up right, allows movement, supports weight
and protects the spinal cord. There are four different segments of the spinal cord. One of those
segments is called the lumbar region. The lumbar region consists of 5 vertebrae that make up the
lower back (Lippert, 2011). The lumbar region supports most of the body weight and allows
movement. People often do not realize how important the vertebral column is until it is already
injured. Injury to the lumbar region can be caused from a vertebral fracture and can be very painful to
ones lower back.
Etiology
Lumbar Vertebral Fractures, also known as a compression fractures are caused from a variety of
reasons. Some of the causes can be from high impact trauma or diseases. Some vertebral fractures are
causes by high impact trauma occurring in motor vehicle accidents, long distance falls and sports
injuries. The diseases that can cause compression fractures are osteoporosis and spinal tumors.
Compression fractures can occur from bone insufficiency as well as falls, lifting and trunk motions,
such as flexion, extension, lateral bending and rotation (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
[AAOS], 2015). Osteoporosis is the main cause of compression fractures. Depending on the severity
of the fracture signs and symptoms include severe lower back pain,

During Adolescence children are transitioning into adulthood. At this time, both boys and girls are
experiencing hormonal changes. Both sexes react differently to these changes. Girls begin menarche
typically between the ages of twelve and thirteen years of age. At this time girls are mostly informed,
however girls still feel that they are not prepared and find themselves in a state of surprise when
menarche starts (Berk, 2014, p. 365). It has been found that African American girls may be better
prepared for their change and transition much easier than their Caucasian classmates. Girls tend to tell
their friends that they are menstruating; therefore they are more apt to get the support of others
through this change (Berk, 2014, p. 368). Boys become sexually mature between the ages of eleven
and fourteen. Around the age of thirteen, a boy my experience his first spermarche, or first ejaculation.

The 2nd movement of the Mozart k310 Piano Sonata resembles standard sonata form in many ways. It

The I chord confuses the tonal direction becasuse the listener expects the ii to be followed by V and
then I. This is even more confusing because the scale that accompanies the I chord implies V (the
chord the listener wants to hear). The next bar rounds off this cadential prolongation (ii V I) but the
exposition does not yet end. The arrival to I does not occur until beat three of the bar. The first two
beats create even more prolongation as they nearly modulate. And even after this, the exposition is not
done. There is a two bar codetta (a one bar figure played twice, the second time with variation) before
the strong V7 I cadence with a C pedal tone. This is the first very strong cadence since the start of the
closing material. Since the cadence at the end of the exposition is to C without any hint of F as a tonic,
the Developement begins in C. In fact, it is clearly in C as its pick ups are a C arpeggio and the first
bar looks and sounds like I and shows no indication of a Bb or any other scale alteration. The opening
of the developement is also a textural change but seems to resemble old material in its melody. Both
the first theme and the second theme have similar figures to the new material. The developement starts
with tonal movement in each of the first two measures, I in the first measure and ii6 in the second. In
the third bar the harmonic rythym increases with a I64 for the first two beats and a V7 in

  • 2. The Development And Evaluation Of Januvia Essay The development and evaluation of Januvia® (Sitagliptin Phosphate) are illustrative of the activities that are needed to assess the efficacy, safety and effectiveness of a new product for treating type 2 diabetes milieus. It is the first drug of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitors class that is approved as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve the glycemic control.1 Januvia was developed by Merck Research Laboratories and received the FDA approval on 16 October 2006.2 Preclinical/Animal study: The animal study of MK 0431, the code name for Sitagliptin in early development phase, was done in mice, rat, and dog. Maximum recommended daily adult human dose (MRHD) of Sitagliptin was found 100mg/day and NOAEL 50mg/kg based on dog study.3 Two years of carcinogenic study was conducted on mice and rat. In rat, liver adenoma/carcinoma has been seen at 60 times of MHRD. This is probably due to chronic hepatotoxicity of the drug. No tumor incidence was observed in case of mice up to 70 times of MHRD. Both in vitro assay and in vivo mice assay was not suggestive of mutagenic and clastogenic nature of MK 0431. Fertility adverse effect was also not at 12 times of MHRD)3 and Sitagliptin was labeled as pregnancy category B.4 Based on these preclinical studies on animal, Merck submitted their Investigational New Drug (IND 65, 495) application to FDA was on August 2002.4 Phase I: Phase I of Sitagliptin study was done on 33 volunteer humans. • 4. Twelfth Night Gender Analysis Janelle Owusu Dr. Wood LMC 3228 30 November 2017 Shakespeare Term Essay Gender is one of the most prevalent themes in William Shakespeare s comedy, Twelfth Night. In Twelfth Night, the play is based on Viola, a twin who gets separated away from her brother in a shipwreck. To find work, Viola undertakes the disguise of Cesario, a young male who wants to work in the household of Duke Orsino. Orsino has been personally dealing with the love he feels for Lady Olivia, who refuses to entertain any man since she is dealing with the loss of her brother and father. In Orsino s efforts to have Cesario facilitate love between himself and Olivia, Olivia ends up falling in love with Cesario. Viola has also found herself falling in love with Orsino, thus creating a love triangle between these three. In this love triangle, Shakespeare exhibits a challenge and a reinforcement of the gender roles that were present in the setting he personally wrote the play from. Through Olivia s attraction to Cesario, he challenges these gender roles and through Orsino s attraction to Cesario, he reinforces these gender roles. 1 Twelfth Night is reported to have been written in 1601/1602 to be a festival amusement for the end of the holiday season which would have been during Shakespeare s successful career in London as a writer and an actor [shakespeare theatre peter thomson]. In early, Seventeenth century England, both gender hierarchy, and a husband s patriarchal role as the premier of his household, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Bootstrap Approach On Data Sampling Essay Bootstrap Approach in Data Sampling As shown in the previous chapter, the basic samples of data needed to calculate the confidence intervals have distributions which depart from the traditional parametric distributions. Thus, classical hypothesis testing procedures based on strong parametric assumptions cannot be used to estimate the confidence intervals. In order to obtain results as reliable as possible, a statistical technique which is applicable regardless of the form of the data probability density function has to be utilized. In other words, this method should make no assumption about the different data distributions. One good candidate is the bootstrap method. The idea about bootstrapping is that we don t have enough data. To illustrate this technique, we consider a clothing shop selling second clothing. In a week, sales per day varies with day. The second week analysis also, shows a different trend to first week. As a business owner, one would like to determine the customer behaviour and pattern so that planning can be done effectively to ensure customer satisfaction. Therefore, an average or mean sales need to be determine for the first week. This is done by taking resample data from the main data sample, which will produce a distribution sample as indicated in (a) and (b) for week 2. The t test statistical analysis will not be the reasonable method to determine the resalable mean value since it will recognise both (a) and (b) as normal distribution, thus giving a ... • 6. Offshore Oil Drilling and the Deepwater Horizon Spill of... Oil is a very important fossil fuel that is used for various sources of energy. Oil supplies power to industries, fuel for transportation, heat for buildings, and provides raw material for plastics, paints, textiles, and other materials (hybrid cars). To access this fossil fuel, oil drilling is used. Land based oil drilling became less productive and as the global stipulation for energy increased, technology, law, and geology impacts stepped in and pushed the exploration of oil away from shores (CITE). With its historical background, offshore oil drilling is one of the most important aspects of today s economy although we are faced with its risks and consequences, such as the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion of the Gulf of Mexico. Offshore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New technology continued to develop including rotary rigs that replaced pile drivers. Texaco and Shell then established barge drilling, which was the process of towing small mobile platforms to new locations at the end of drilling jobs (CITE). This resulted in the adaptation of land drilling methods in the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico, as the oil companies continued to grow more confident operating offshore. During the 1952 presidential election, an argument called the Tidelands dispute, over who should manage offshore drilling became a concern when General Dwight Eisenhower guaranteed to repair the leasing ability coastal states were deprived of in the courts. This dispute was followed by the enactment of the Submerged Lands Act of 1953, which allowed states the right to lease up to three marine miles from the coast. Eisenhower s rise to the presidency also helped smooth the progress of the passage of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA) of 1953, which provided the federal government the authority to issue leases in coastal areas beyond state jurisdiction (CITE). Once the OCSLA was executed, leasing activity on federal submerged lands began in 1954. At this time, oil was being produced at 133,000 barrels of oil a day, which was only two percent of total U.S. production at that time. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Homo Sapiens And The Extinction Homo sapiens Role in Neanderthal Extinction It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change (Evolution Quotes). So far in the saga that is Earth humanity has been on the winning side of change. Humans have evolved over time from simple hunter gathers to an advanced species of builders and thinkers. Humans have built complex cities, created advanced medicine, and even left their own plant for the moon. Despite all these remarkable achievements humans were not the first species of Homo to expand across the globe. Before Homo sapiens dominated the Earth, their cousins Homo Neanderthals roamed Europe and Asia hunting big game and thriving. However, between 30,000 and 40,00 years ago the Neanderthal population began to decrease drastically. It is unclear what caused this drastic drop in Neanderthal population, but one leading theory points an evolutionary finger at Homo sapiens. The introduction of Homo sapiens into the Neanderthal environment negatively affected the Neanderthal population size through increased food completion, Homo Sapien violence, and interbreeding Homo Neanderthals were a stocky species, which had an average height of about 5ft 5in and a large brain similar to humans. Neanderthals were well adapted to live in the cold temperature of northern Europe, and in their prime the Neanderthal population is estimated to be as large as 70,000 individuals (Bocquet 2013, 1). ... • 8. Propaganda In Ww1 Essay Prior to 1914 to 1918, Americans followed the idealism of isolationist to remain neutral in foreign wars and affairs. During World War I, propaganda was used to influence exit isolationism, change America s views on immigrants, and keep Americans participating and fighting in the war. Propaganda was used to directly appeal to the emotions and patriotism of many Americans, willing them to join the war. It was also used to express America s ever changing ideas of immigrants, such as the Japanese in California. All the while, propaganda still showed what control the American government had over what its people consumed in their everyday life.Through the four year time frame America was able to build their army, have people support their political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... America entered a war that was not their battle at the start, so the American government had to keep the interest of the people to keep the aid that people provided. The films were to keep continuity amongst Americans and their ideals of aiding America in a foreign fight. Changing from isolationist can be a large move, especially only doing it to fight in war. Many of the films and commercials were showing American men drafting into the military or women working in weaponry plants. Showing films with those ideals either persuaded Americans to keep fighting of join the fight, but idea never changed. Americans did not see those films and automatically not want to help their nation win the war. Propaganda was made with the intentions of making Americans help in fight and that idea was consistent throughout the war. The image and depiction of who the bad guy was stayed the same, and American attitudes towards those people stayed the same. Any image of the Central Powers in propaganda stayed the same throughout any film; they were evil men, pillaging and destroying nations. • 13. The Theme Of Whiteness In Herman Melville s Moby-Dick In Herman Melville s Moby Dick, whiteness or the lack of whiteness plays a significant role. The whiteness of Ahab, Ishmael, and other sailors, and the lack of whiteness of Queequeg, and the whiteness of nonhuman components, like the whale and the ship, address the subject of race. Melville uses the motif of whiteness and the lack of whiteness to convey the theme that the white man s reign in American is ultimately doomed. To fully understand Melville s view on whiteness and race, one can look towards other literary authors and their personal descriptions of Herman Melville. Toni Morrison describes Melville as an African Americanist...on white supremacist culture (Levine 9 10). Because Melville did not believe in the supremacy of the white man, one can determine that Melville also did not believe the white man should be above all other races. Moby Dick has been considered a radically anti racist text by several scholars (Andriano 141). D. H. Lawrence, after reading Moby Dick, writes that Melville predicted the doom of the white man in America. Melville knew. He knew his race was doomed. His white soul, doomed. He great white epoch, doomed. Himself doomed (160). Lawrence supports his argument with the sinking of the Pequod because this ship belonged to Ahab, the white American man. The white man failed in the end and was killed by his own obsession with whiteness. When Melville was writing Moby Dick, there are claims that he read an article by Lous Agassiz. Agassiz s ... • 16. The piracy of software, images, video, audio, and text has long been a concern for owners of these digital assets. Protection schemes are usually based upon the insertion of digital watermarks into the data. The watermarking software introduces small errors into the object being watermarked. These intentional errors are called marks, and all the marks together constitute the watermark. The marks are chosen so as to have an insignificant impact on the usefulness of the data and are placed in such a way that a malicious user cannot destroy them without making the data significantly less useful. Although watermarking does not prevent illegal copying, it deters such copying by providing a means for establishing the original ownership of a redistributed copy. The increasing use of databases in applications beyond behind the firewalls data processing is creating a similar need for watermarking databases. A businessman who had taken an ethics class at Harvard University, described it as practical pointers. However, Mr. Colson argued, in an article, that Harvard s philosophical relativism makes it impossible for them to teach real ethics. Upon discovering this article, Harvard Business school invited Mr. Colson to deeper describe his opinion during a Distinguished Lecture series. He argued that a society without a foundation of moral absolutes, and a moral consensus cannot survive very long. Specifically for California sea lions (CSLs), HABs through bioaccumulation lead to domoic acid (DA) poisoning. Epidemiology: CSLs showing signs of DA poisoning at the Marine Mammal Center were sedated and studied using MRI. Neuro radiologists viewed 34 brain scans taken and noted abnormalities in brain structure. The severity of brain damage took into account the type of brain damage the mammal was exhibiting: hippocampal atrophy, temporal horn enlargement, and parahippocampal atrophy, in addition to the severity of each (Thomas, 2010). From this information, calculations were made to create a brain damage index (BDI) for CSLs. The study showed 12 had an acute case of DA poisoning, and 22 had chronic DA poisoning (Thomas, 2010). During a harmful algal bloom in 2014 near the Monterey Bay region, of all the CSLs that were rescued and studied, 41% showed signs of having DA poisoning ranging from mild to severe (Anderson et al., 2016). This research led to the discovery that, though the handwriting seemed to match that of Adolf Hitler, the materials used in the jornal, such as the type of paper, the glue used to hold the journal together, and the ink of the pen, were proved to have been manufactured in a post war time. The Subtext of Violence in Henry James The Wings of theDove: The Sacrificial Crisis A reading of Henry James 1902 novel The Wings of theDove is particularly fitting for this issue ofSchuylkill for several reasons. This late novel is rife withrepresentations of multiple, often overlapping subject positionsthat the close reader is forced to reckon with. These subjectpositions include, but are not limited to, James as authorand as a self referring subject of the novel s Preface, who perceives and performs outside of the designation of author. This substitutemetonymically stands in for the member of the community who isresponsible for the violence. Thus the scapegoat plays atheatrical role that requires a degree of dissimulation. First, thescapegoat must both vaguely resemble and considerably differ fromthe subject it replaces. The ambiguous characteristics of thesacrificial substitute ensures that because of its similarity tothe instigator of the unrest, violence is actually contained. Onthe other hand, the dissimilarity of the sacrificial substitute tothe original subject ensures that no retaliation, retribution orvengeance, that is, no further escalation of violence results afterthe sacrifice is performed. Through this process the scapegoat istransformed by the community into an object in which evil can beboth specified and assuaged. • 35. Adam Smith Research Paper You may be asking yourself, what is a economic system? Or even an economy? Of course economy is one of those loaded terms that get thrown around a lot by politicians and CNN, but do we really even know what it is? According to Business Dictionary, Economy is defined as: An entire network of producers, distributors, and consumers of goods and services in a local, regional, or national community. So In other words, any economy is absolutely everything that relates to finances. People that sell, People who buy, what you sell and buy, how its distributed, etc. Now, an economic system, is how that network is organized, or in the words of Austin Powers, its mojo. The way it runs, its rules, etc. Without it, economies would be chaos. Fraudulent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, that we have some of the most successful economies, lets compare them. I see many similarities between Marxism and a Traditional economy. They are both very laid back, and everyone is treated equally. Capitalism, differs from the two, with the only similarity it shares with them is disregarding the idea of having a central government. Now, out of these three, I believe that a traditional economy would work the best. Yes, it has some serious problems, but I believe its advantages outweigh its disadvantages. As this paper comes to an end, I would just like to remind you of the three economic choices, and their characteristics. Capitalism sets everything to be privately owned, and pushes the idea of two social classes. Marxism sets the playing field equal, and treats everyone equal in every way. Finally, Traditionalism has no rules, and everything just works out well, because it does. All in all, there are many different factors that separate Capitalism, Marxism, and Traditionalism. These factors make it extremely difficult to come up with an ultimate best system, especially because they all work differently in application, then in theory. Despite ... Looking back to this time last year I can say I am not the same person I was. I can say around this time last year I was very content with how things were in my life. I felt things were going to happen the way they did, and that was just how it was going to be. I had a little self motivation but it was not enough to where I could actually believe myself. There were times where I would wonder where I would be in the next three or four years and have no clue, and then ask myself what have I done to prepare myself for that time when it comes. Now, there is not one bit of doubt that I will not be successful in whatever my future presents me. I feel I am way more self driven today than what I was a year ago. I am chasing the same dream just with a total different attitude now. Five years ago I would of been at the beginning of my Junior year of highschool I would be having the time of my life. Describe the impact of puberty on parent c hild interaction and the adaptive value of this change in adolescents relationships with their parents. During Adolescence children are transitioning into adulthood. At this time, both boys and girls are experiencing hormonal changes. Both sexes react differently to these changes. Girls begin menarche typically between the ages of twelve and thirteen years of age. At this time girls are mostly informed, however girls still feel that they are not prepared and find themselves in a state of surprise when menarche starts (Berk, 2014, p. 365). It has been found that African American girls may be better prepared for their change and transition much easier than their Caucasian classmates. Girls tend to tell their friends that they are menstruating; therefore they are more apt to get the support of others through this change (Berk, 2014, p. 368). • 40. Essay about Mozart k310 sonata (2nd movement) Mozart k310 sonata (2nd movement) Analyzation The 2nd movement of the Mozart k310 Piano Sonata resembles standard sonata form in many ways. It opens with a first theme in F (same as key signature). The theme is four bars long; two bars of antecedant, two bars of consequent. Mozart then starts the first theme again with a 32nd note run pick up instead of the 16th note arpeggio pick up in the the begginning of the piece so we are prepared for variation in the second statement of the first theme. He then continues the theme with variation until the consequent phrase which is completely different from the first consequent phrase. This new consequent has not only faster rythmic movement but also compressed harmonic rythym. This tension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The I chord confuses the tonal direction becasuse the listener expects the ii to be followed by V and then I. This is even more confusing because the scale that accompanies the I chord implies V (the chord the listener wants to hear). The next bar rounds off this cadential prolongation (ii V I) but the exposition does not yet end. The arrival to I does not occur until beat three of the bar. The first two beats create even more prolongation as they nearly modulate. And even after this, the exposition is not done. There is a two bar codetta (a one bar figure played twice, the second time with variation) before the strong V7 I cadence with a C pedal tone. This is the first very strong cadence since the start of the closing material. Since the cadence at the end of the exposition is to C without any hint of F as a tonic, the Developement begins in C. In fact, it is clearly in C as its pick ups are a C arpeggio and the first bar looks and sounds like I and shows no indication of a Bb or any other scale alteration. The opening of the developement is also a textural change but seems to resemble old material in its melody. Both the first theme and the second theme have similar figures to the new material. The developement starts with tonal movement in each of the first two measures, I in the first measure and ii6 in the second. In the third bar the harmonic rythym increases with a I64 for the first two beats and a V7 in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
