Describe The Cammeray Suburb
Nestled along the lower north shore of Sydney sits a quiet and picturesque suburb where young
families, retirees, and professionals coexist. These locals enjoy keeping a low profile within their little
hideaway suburb with a lot of greenery and leafy areas. The sense of community in Cammeray is
amazing. Besides all this, what else makes this suburb so desirable.
Housing
Cammeray is a nice mix of semi detached Federation era homes, contemporary homes, and single and
double storey homes that line the curvy streets flowing down to Middle Harbour. As you meander
closer to Miller Street, you ll find a few older high rise apartments, while the prime real estate sits
along the waterfront of Cowdroy Avenue and Folly Point.
Schools
Cammeray is home to the Cammeray Children s Centre (pre school and childcare centre) and
Cammeray Public School for children from Kindergarten age to 6 years old. Cammeray ... Show more

The Statue Of Edward Cornwallis
Monuments are created to commemorate a time, a place, an event and a person s significance in their
contribution to the identity of a community or culture. Monuments are expected to withstand the
elements of nature; humankind s version of history, and in all cases, a society s sober second thought.
However, standing not so proudly and surrounded by Hollis, Barrington, and South streets is the statue
of Edward Cornwallis, the founder of Halifax and former Governor of Nova Scotia. Military and
political heroes, given the gift of eternal commemoration, are far too often held unaccountable for
their actions. In fact, it is felt that too many of these honors are designed to change the memory of its
historical misdeeds. Edward Cornwallis, as expertly

When the Canal was built towns all along the route from Buffalo to Albany prospered from the
revenue and the attraction the Canal brought with it. Whether the Canal was being used for business
people, immigrants, settlers of the region, or tourists, the border towns all had some appeal to these
persons. After some time the state was continually asked to expand the Canal from the original route
to include connecting canal routes. However, the same towns along the route from Buffalo to Albany
had already been established along the lines of the original canal. These towns would need to be
relocated in order to obey these new requests. This presented a major problem because the people in
these towns had formed a life around the Canal and many of them made their income based of the
Canal. The inhabitants of the towns changed their mentality from not wanting the Canal to invade on
their lives, to it being an essential part of their lives they depended upon. The Erie Canal provided an
extremely fast source of transportation compared to other ones of that time. A lot of the land that the
Canal went through was uninhabited and therefore people weren t able to move through these areas.
Once the Canal was built it served as that pathway through these areas. The Canal also was a much
cheaper source of transportation that was used by residents, tourists, emigrants, and workers during
this time. Evangelical preachers used the artificial

Obstacles In Thomas Jefferson s First Barbary War
Thomas Jefferson encountered many obstacles during his presidency, in which one of the issues was
the First Barbary War, in which the United States and Sweden fought against the Barbary States. One
of Jefferson s first actions as president was to reduce military establishments, in hope of transcending
wars and peaceful era. The First Barbary War or Tripolitanian War lasted from 1801 to 1805 in the
United States. The reason for waging the war was that pirates of the North Barbary States were
intercepting American merchant ships and retaining the sailors for ransom, demanding the U.S. to pay
tribute to the Barbary rulers. Jefferson declined to pay the price and ordered the American Navy to
attack the Barbary Pirates. Even though Congress never

Evolution Of Rap During The 80 s
The evolution of rap during the 80 s, 90 s and 2000 s until now. Introduction: What is rap? Rap is
defined in the dictionary as: a style of popular music, developed by disc jockeys and urban blacks in
the late 1970s, in which an insistent, recurring beat pattern provides the background and counterpoint
for rapid, slangy, and often boastful rhyming patter glibly intoned by a vocalist or vocalists. Which
implies that rap is defined by its fast, narcissistic, aggressive, and rhyming lyrics. Simply said rap is
talking slightly faster than usual often accompanied by music. Rap originated in ghettos where youth
had to deal with gangs, drugs, murders, rape, and racial profiling by the police. This is why rap lyrics
are often about violence, drugs, money and sex, which was very controversial and often protested by
parents and politicians. In this assignment I will research and discuss the origins and development of
rap on a 30 year timeline, as well as the surrounding controversy and internal conflicts of the rap
industry. Motivation: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nearby their working space, institutions, etc. As they grow older and ready to start families, the living
conditions of the cities drives them out and they end up lending in the residential district situated on
the outskirts of the city or town so called suburbs (Collins English Dictionary, 2012). Despite the good
city lifestyle, holding out in the suburbs is what people from the city often think of. Nonetheless, it
holds both pros and cons viz. Large space, reasonable prices; quality local public school, conducive

Suburbs provide families with quality local public schools to register their kids in. Since, it is situated
in a quiet and distraction free environment, teaching and learning take place accordingly and ensure
better results at the end of the year.. So, if you have kids or planning to have kids, relocating to the
nearest suburb area would be a good consideration.
Suburbs areas are safer atmospheres to raise kids. In that respect are far fewer car accidents than in the
city which contribute to lower car insurance prices. Parents do not stress about monitoring children;
when they are schooling nearby, they can freely walk to train without the parent. Being there can be
much less stressful than in the hustle and hustle of the metropolis. (Wiseman Insurance Agency, 2013)
Suburban areas consist of primarily middle and upper class folks. The bearing of the wealthy families
creates an environment with less crime rate; nicer neighborhoods and more opportunities to build
friendships with neighbors. In summation, when dwelling in a smaller community; you will receive
the chance to grow to know around from around the area at events like block parties, and

Fictional characters often show similar themes as well as morals, just as this connection can be made
through the real world. Naomi from Going to where I m coming from by Naomi Shihab Nye and
Maria from The Sound of Music by Robert Wise both express many similarities as well as differences.
Naomi is a teenage girl that is originally from Missouri and has recently just moved to Jerusalem.
There she faces the hardships of prejudice and segregation as well as boy problems. Maria on the
other hand is a grown woman as well as a nun in training. Her story takes place in Austria as she faces
the tough discipline of the commander as well as the Nazi s that are out to get her and her family.

The Celts And The Celtic World
Knowledge of the Celts and the Celtic world has been acquired and accumulated through a variety of
mediums such as archaeological evidence, geographical markings and most importantly, the
testimonies left by Greek and Roman writers. Without these writings, developing an image of the
nature of the Celts would be extremely difficult. Comparing two authors, Roman emperor, Julius
Caesar to Greek writer, Athenaeus, it may reveal some of the prejudices and biased views held against
the Celts, but more importantly by contrasting the views of these particular authors, it also offers a
well rounded account of the history and culture of these Celtic speaking people.
Athenaeus was a Greek writer, who wrote around the time of 200AD. He is the author of
Deipnosophistae, a piece of literature all about eating and dining traditions. Athenaeus is writing
during a time known as The Poseidonian Tradition; Poseidonios inspired a lot of Greek writers to
write and keep record of the Celts and their culture. Athenaeus quotes Poseidonios in his
Deipnosophistae as he has first hand experience of the Celts, having travelled around studying the
Celts. Poseidonios work only survives through the work of later authors, such as Athenaeus.
Athenaeus speaks of how Poseidonios observed the Celts during a feast, taking note of their customs,
Athenaeus discourse is written in such a way that the impression left is that the Greeks may have
considered themselves more evolved than the Celts they were

Ethos And Pathos In Bernard Roth s The Achievement Habit
That s a goooooood reason (Roth 42). This is a quote from the second chapter of Bernard Roth s book,
The Achievement Habit. Mr. Roth, a professor at Stanford, effectively uses Aristotle s Rhetorical
Triangle containing ethos, pathos, and logos in chapter 2 of his book to show that reasons are bullshit.
Mr. Roth effectively has ethos in his book. Bernard Roth the Author of the book, The Achievement
Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, And Take Command of Your Life, had multiple different example of
how he is a creditable source. Mr. Roth has been a professor and Standford for 52 years. While being a
professor, in 1996 he helped to design Designer in Society also known as d.school. The hope for the
program is to get students to think differently about how they can reach their goals in life. The
program is a pretty big deal, Wall Street Journal once called it the hottest graduate program. Bernard
Roth got his PhD in Mechanical engineering at Columbia, so he knows his stuff. Lastly, the final thing
that make him a creditable source is Roth was awarded the Honorary PhD from the University of
Paris. The University of Paris only award these Honorary PhD s to people who makes a contribution
to a specific field or to a society in general. Bernard Roth has ethos because he has many degrees and
achievements to back him up.
Second, Bernard Roth shows pathos, this mean emotion, when he says Love is the ultimate
unreasonable activity (Roth 50). This makes Roth sound heartless like he has no capacity for emotion.
Roth then goes into more details and explains that most times when we ask a person why they love
someone they go into a list of reasons, but if you look hard enough you could find all those qualities in
someone else. Some say loves is just a form of projection where you or I might call it fate. When Roth
says loves is unreasonable he is showing a lack of emotion which in it own shape is emotion. Bernard
Roth also says in chapter 2 of his book, Projection is a common response (Roth 47). When we are
guilty of doing something often times we will project it on to someone else. Say one of my friends has
a problem with telling the truth, they might think that everyone is always lying to them. This is how

The Mediterranean Diet Of Food Essay
If you ve ever talked to somebody after they ve traveled to a country such as Italy or Greece, they
probably mentioned how delicious the food was. Food is one of the more common affiliations with
countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea; and understandably so. The food this region produces
is so notable that there is a diet based off it, companied with endless research elaborating the health
benefits it accommodates. Fittingly named The Mediterranean Diet, this compilation of foods
including fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, high fiber breads, whole grains, nuts, olive oil and red wine
are targeted to help prevent a number of diseases as well as promote health in different sectors of the
body. This essay will touch upon each component, benefit, and precaution of the Mediterranean diet,
in depth, all with a main focus on the nutritional factors.
When I introduced the Mediterranean diet, an image probably popped into your head of some
beautiful assortment of food in relation to those parts of the world. The Mediterranean diet
incorporates a fulfilling variety of foods while moderating some of the most craved, but negatively
impactful components of our regular diet. One point of emphasis in the diet is consumption of fruits
and vegetables; some of the most recommended including grapes, blueberries, and starchy vegetables
such as cauliflower and chickpeas. A standout component of this diet is its affiliation with the
prevention of certain cancers; this has been linked to

What Is Formative And Summative Assessment
Introduction
Assessment can be the engine of curriculum reform, or the principal impediment to its implementation
(Mary Barnes, 2000) is a thought which is of great debate in the Republic of Ireland today. Education
and curriculum are constantly evolving and often assessment gets left behind. The relationship
between student learning and an effective curriculum lies in the power of the assessment. One cannot
thrive without the other, and one cannot be entirely effective unless the other is equally as effective.
In this assignment I will explore the types of assessment, particularly formative and summative
assessment which are used worldwide in the classroom. As well as the history of assessment in
Ireland, the newest junior cycle programme and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that formative assessment is effective in all educational settings (Paul Black,
1998).One major difference between formative assessment and summative assessment is the way in
which formative assessment uses student involvement as an integral pillar. Without student
involvement in the assessment process, formative assessment is not reaching its full potential. Many
research papers have shown that student motivation is dramatically increased when students are
involved in both their own learning and in the learning of others (Pintrich de Groot, 1990).Teachers,
however, do not have a sit back role in formative assessment. They are still crucial to the proper use of
this assessment by ways of designing appropriate assessment tasks, identifying attainable learning
goals and outlining clear criteria for student success. One key factor in formative assessment is the
return of feedback to students. Many studies have shown that substantial learning gains are the
outcome of an effective and frequent feedback process from teacher to student (Wiliam,

In 1994, the Sea island Co. owned enough land on the island to easily support 8,000 single family

protecting the islands from too much development, too few services and too small a voice in county

there could be a rift between mainlanders and islanders (Davis 2004). Davis reports in 2004 that 22%

How Does Shakespeare Present The Nature Of Love In Twelfth...
Shakespeare s ability to portray the universal nature of the human condition is at its most accessible in
Twelfth Night. The compelling prominence of love entertains and engages the audience because of its
complex and dynamic nature. The interpersonal relationships in the context of social hierarchies are
explored through the disguise motif, the folly of ambition and love as a cause of suffering. The
complications that arise when social norms are subverted, lead to the characters facing adversity,
which offers insight into human behaviour.

requires school districts to take affirmative steps to provide equal access to instructional program for
students with limited English proficiency. The Illinois Constitution guarantees every child from
kindergarten through grade 12, access to a free public education; which means, regardless of a child s
home language, he/she deserves a free and appropriate education (Illinois State Board of Education,
1998). According to the No Child Left Behind Act of (NCLB) of 2001, one of the Titles III s purposes
was to develop high quality language instruction education programs designed to assist states, district
and schools in teaching limited English proficient children and serving immigrant children and youth (
ESEA Section 3102 (3) as stated in Language Instruction Educational Programs ( LIEPs), 2012 p.
viii). As such, Article 14 C of the Illinois School Code recognizes two models to serve ELL students: a
transitional bilingual education (TBE) program or transitional program of instruction

The Battle Of Wills Between Rainey And Sturdyvant, The...
When it comes to themes, the main question in the play is whether the band will complete the
recording session despite conflicts among various band members and the power struggles between
Rainey and Sturdyvant, the white owner of the recording studio. The battle of wills between Rainey
and Sturdyvant echoes the historical battle between capitalists and workers; only in this case, Rainey
holds on to the goods (her music) that she produces until she gets what she wants from the white
producer. It is only after her demands are met and she and her band members are paid that Rainey
signs off on the contract. The power struggle between Levee and the other band members over whose
version of Ma Rainey s Black Bottom is recorded reflects a generational conflict defined by different
attitudes towards music. Rainey and the band represent the older generation, preferring to play the
song as they always have. Levee, the youngest band member, represents the new and ever changing
generation of musicians who seeks a more improvisatory and jazz like version. The theme of power is
also established through the examination of the relationship between black artists and the world of
mass communications in the early twentieth century. This relationship mirrors the position of black
people in the society at large a society dominated by white racism. Wilson establishes this early in the
play through a series of musical imagery and idiomatic language, in which he uses both the style

Reasons For Staying Fat For Sarah Byrnes
Book Banning Essay The book staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher focuses on two best
friends in high school named Sarah Byrnes and Eric Calhoune. These two friends as well as many
other characters endure both emotional and physical trauma after the discovery of Sarah Byrnes being
in a mental hospital due to her abusive father. The eventful tale told by Eric shouldn t be banned or
challenged. Reasons for this include the upbringing of sensitive topics that are discussed from chapter
to chapter. As well as an important lesson of the true meaning of friendship. A sensitive topic that has
been brought up in the book is child abuse. This portrayed by Sarah and her father beginning when she
was just a child Then he said Here s your pretty little baby for you , and i looked up and saw the wood

Sarah and Eric become friends because they re different compared to the kids they ve grown up with.
As they get older though they realize that it s not bad to be an outsider because now they have each

least to me, (199). With both these characters hand in hand it really shows how much having someone
in your corner can help. With Eric there for Sarah it helped bring justice to what her father did to her
and helped her see there was always a shoulder there to lean on. If teens don t understand how
powerful friendship is in this point of their life it could leave them too vulnerable to people out of the
world. People deserve to know what true friendship is and this book perfectly describes one. This is
another reason why this book shouldn t be banned due to the valuable lesson it teaches through every

Pros And Cons Of Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality Regulation Pros As previously stated, net neutrality is a complex subject and it has
many layers. One issue of major of concern is that of fast lanes and the establishment of net neutrality
would prevent ISPs from forming these types of connections. Simplified, a fast lane is line of service
that provides faster upload and download speeds. A fast lane would allow ISPs to charge companies
such as Netflix, Skype, PlayStation Plus, and other streaming services for faster connections that
would allow consumers to access the services easier and faster. Proponents of net neutrality worry that
the extra expenses for fast lanes could become a formidable challenge for startups and small business
owners. Large corporations typically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many neutrality proponents contend that failing to develop and enforce net neutrality will lead to the
ability of ISPs to block access to content. Currently, there is a freedom of choice in that ISPs are
unable to obstruct certain sites or contents over others but that hasn t always been the case. There have
been several cases over the last few years where ISPs have moved to block internet content. Comcast
is probably the best known culprit. In the early to mid 2000 s, Comcast monitored network traffic
patterns and began blocking certain websites (Ammori, 2014). The sites that were targeted were those
that are known as peer to peer. Peer to peer (P2P) sites utilize technology that allow users to share data
without having a centralized server. There have been instances where illegal data has been shared but
it would be impossible for an ISP to determine that simply from traffic patterns. Peer to peer sites are
not the only ones that have been targeted. In 2005, an ISP in North Carolina moved to block traffic
that allowed users to access Vonage, an application that allows users to make telephone calls via the
internet. AT T had a contract with Apple that asked AT T to block all applications that offered video
chat over a cellular network. This allowed Apple s application, Facetime, to become the preferred
application of iPhone

The students were encouraged to identify and note the colors, shapes, and lines in Vincent van Gogh s

resistant art. The most interesting thing about this lesson to me was that it was created for children
with autism. I have a binder that I put special education and autism accommodations and school
assignment ideas in because I am majoring in it. I really enjoy when the author of the assignment
relates the project back to an original piece, because it allows students to appreciate pieces of art that
they normally would not. However, I fel this assignment is almost a little to difficult for Kindergarten
aged students. The book suggested to be used in the assignment, Camille and the Sunflowers: A Story
About Vincent van Gogh is aimed for children reading at a higher first grade level. So, I would
probably try it once with the children and see if they truly understood what the overall goal was. I
would like to try this project in maybe a first or second grade setting where the students are old

Implications Of Plato s Censorship Of Poetry In The Republic
In the Republic, Plato proposes the complete censorship of imitative poetry from his ideal city,
arguing that it corrupts individuals souls and therefore has a negative effect on society, resulting in
injustice within the city. Although seemingly trivial at first, when considered within its proper context,
the censorship of imitative poetry from the city would result in severe consequences. Throughout this
essay I will discuss the political and psychological implications of its censorship, and will also refute
Plato s argument, showing how it lacks soundness: notably, through a criticism of his epistemology.
Regarding the political implications of the censorship of poetry, I will draw from the ideas of Karl
Popper, who argued Plato to be one of the most influential philosophers on the emergence of
totalitarian regimes in the 20th century, laying the foundations for their very existence (K. Popper,
1945). I will also show how poets themselves have an important political role within cities, in that
they enable the general population to hold the state accountable for their actions. To discuss the
psychological implications of poetry s censorship, I will compare the contrasting views of Plato and
Aristotle regarding its effect on the soul, whereby Aristotle claims that poetry actually has beneficial,
cathartic effects. Following these criticisms, it will become apparent that Plato s proposed ban of
imitative poetry is indefensible.
Firstly, to fully understand Plato s proposal

Children Of A Child Protection Process Essay
There are a number of different organisations that may be involved when a young person or child has
been abused or harmed. This includes health visitors, GP s, the police, schools, the NSPCC,
psychologists, school nurses and probation workers.
Health visitors have a vital role in protecting children from harm and abuse because they are one of
the first to recognise children who are likely to be abused or neglected. They play a big part in all
stages of a child protection process including case reviews. They support and guide parents of young
children, provide developmental checks on children under the age of five, have contact with many
multi agencies and they support the work of the Local Safeguarding Children s Board (LSCB). They
are trained to a high level to recognise any risks that the child might be in and also they will visit the
children at home. They are in a position to gather information from very early on and therefore this
enables them to start the process quite quickly when any signs or concerns of abuse or neglect are
detected. The health visitor will need to have ongoing contact with the family if abuse or neglect is
suspected. Health visitors should use their own judgement on when to share information with other
agencies.
The role of a General Practitioner is to maintain their skills in recognising if a child is being abused or
neglected. They need to follow all correct procedures if abuse or neglect is suspected. All GP s should

Information Technology And The Banking Industry
Since the inception of Information Technology (IT), the business world has been transformed. In many
aspects of business, IT contributes remarkably in increasing effective usage of time, efforts and
financial costs. This article is going to outline some examples of IT efforts that run, grow, or transform
the businesses it serves, thorough increasingly important layers of business operation and
management. Those layers are finance, communication and systems. 1. Finance

Online banking is an important example of efforts that grow banking industry. In US, online banking
was introduced widely when four of the city s major banks (Citibank, Chase Manhattan, Chemical and
Manufacturers Hanover) started to offer home banking services, using the videotex system. When the
clicks and bricks euphoria hit in the late 1990s, many banks began to view Web based banking as a
strategic imperative. The attraction of banks to online banking are fairly obvious: diminished
transaction costs, easier integration of services, interactive marketing capabilities, and other benefits
that boost customer lists and profit margins. Additionally, Web banking services allow institutions to
bundle more services into single packages, thereby luring customers and minimizing overhead.
For stock market and stock brokers, the introduction of National Association of Securities Dealers
Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) in 1971, the world s first electronic stock market, made a huge
impact. The NASDAQ helped lower the spread (the difference between the bid price and the ask price
of the stock) and reduce significantly the delay between the initiation and execution of stock orders.
Moreover, NASDAQ has provided a basis for the development of online brokers, which leads to a

Sensationalizing Criminal Activity in the Media
The media constantly reports on criminal activity and crime as a whole within our community in
which it has every right to do. However, the media often sensationalises crime in order to create moral
panic within the community, using it as a way to control how the public perceives current community
issues. Some people may be led to a blind acceptance of the reality of such presentations as
constructed by the media (Crime and Justice, 2012, Pg. 63)
Because a majority of the public have minimal experience with the judicial system, public knowledge
and views of law and the legal system are dependent on media representations (N. Marder, 2001).
General observation can quickly identify that the media almost always presents a distorted view of the
law. The relationship between law and media is very complex and constantly evolving, however, it is
clear that relatively few of us have experienced first hand the effects of serious criminal violence.
(Crime and Justice, 2012)
Our understanding of crime is predominantly derived from media and not from objective data, such as
real time crime statistics or victimisation surveys. This is very problematic to members of a jury as it
can be assumed that the majority of a jury have a distorted view of reality as Jurors are drawn from the
community at large, so it is only to be expected that jurors will reflect the general social outlook and
values of their communities. (Jurors 24/7, 2014)
Greene (2014) wrote about how media

A study by Hariharan M, Wheatley TA, and Price JC (1997) investigated controlled release on two
kinds of carrageenan, lambda carrageenan (Viscarin GP 209) and iota carrageenan (Gelcarin GP 379).
They analyzed their respective compression capabilities through the use of a Strokes single punch
machine. Yield pressure was calculated at 81.3 Pa for iota carrageenan and 105.2 MPa for lambda
carrageenan through the use of Heckel plots out of die tablet densities. The results proved linear. Both
carrageenan types yielded near zero order profiles in drug release tablet formulations. The tablet
compression pressures had little to no effect on the profiles from 70 to 175 MPa. It was found out that
while drug loading increased from 5% to 20%, the exponent of diffusion decreased from 1.056 to
0.678. From zero order release, the breakup of tablets during the dissolution and departure were the
result of 30% drug loading. To predict the time for 50% release as a function of the concentration of
both types of carrageenan, the researchers used multiple regression analysis, which was also used for
microcrystalline cellulose, a third filler material used in the setup. They concluded that the observed
values and the predicted values of the research were in good agreement and the R2 for the final cubic
model was 0.9984. (Hariharan M, Wheatley TA, Price JC., 1997)

Monuments are expected to withstand the elements of nature; humankind s version of history, and in all cases, a society s sober second thought. However, standing not so proudly and surrounded by Hollis, Barrington, and South streets is the statue of Edward Cornwallis, the founder of Halifax and former Governor of Nova Scotia. Whether the Canal was being used for business people, immigrants, settlers of the region, or tourists, the border towns all had some appeal to these persons. After some time the state was continually asked to expand the Canal from the original route to include connecting canal routes. However, the same towns along the route from Buffalo to Albany had already been established along the lines of the original canal. These towns would need to be relocated in order to obey these new requests. This presented a major problem because the people in these towns had formed a life around the Canal and many of them made their income based of the Canal. The inhabitants of the towns changed their mentality from not wanting the Canal to invade on their lives, to it being an essential part of their lives they depended upon. The Erie Canal provided an extremely fast source of transportation compared to other ones of that time. A lot of the land that the Canal went through was uninhabited and therefore people weren t able to move through these areas. Once the Canal was built it served as that pathway through these areas. The Canal also was a much cheaper source of transportation that was used by residents, tourists, emigrants, and workers during this time. Evangelical preachers used the artificial ... • 13. The Celts And The Celtic World Knowledge of the Celts and the Celtic world has been acquired and accumulated through a variety of mediums such as archaeological evidence, geographical markings and most importantly, the testimonies left by Greek and Roman writers. Without these writings, developing an image of the nature of the Celts would be extremely difficult. Comparing two authors, Roman emperor, Julius Caesar to Greek writer, Athenaeus, it may reveal some of the prejudices and biased views held against the Celts, but more importantly by contrasting the views of these particular authors, it also offers a well rounded account of the history and culture of these Celtic speaking people. Athenaeus was a Greek writer, who wrote around the time of 200AD. He is the author of Deipnosophistae, a piece of literature all about eating and dining traditions. Athenaeus is writing during a time known as The Poseidonian Tradition; Poseidonios inspired a lot of Greek writers to write and keep record of the Celts and their culture. Athenaeus quotes Poseidonios in his Deipnosophistae as he has first hand experience of the Celts, having travelled around studying the Celts. Poseidonios work only survives through the work of later authors, such as Athenaeus. Athenaeus speaks of how Poseidonios observed the Celts during a feast, taking note of their customs, Athenaeus discourse is written in such a way that the impression left is that the Greeks may have considered themselves more evolved than the Celts they were ... • 14. Ethos And Pathos In Bernard Roth s The Achievement Habit That s a goooooood reason (Roth 42). This is a quote from the second chapter of Bernard Roth s book, The Achievement Habit. Mr. Roth, a professor at Stanford, effectively uses Aristotle s Rhetorical Triangle containing ethos, pathos, and logos in chapter 2 of his book to show that reasons are bullshit. Mr. Roth effectively has ethos in his book. Bernard Roth the Author of the book, The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, And Take Command of Your Life, had multiple different example of how he is a creditable source. Mr. Roth has been a professor and Standford for 52 years. While being a professor, in 1996 he helped to design Designer in Society also known as d.school. The hope for the program is to get students to think differently about how they can reach their goals in life. The program is a pretty big deal, Wall Street Journal once called it the hottest graduate program. Bernard Roth got his PhD in Mechanical engineering at Columbia, so he knows his stuff. Lastly, the final thing that make him a creditable source is Roth was awarded the Honorary PhD from the University of Paris. The University of Paris only award these Honorary PhD s to people who makes a contribution to a specific field or to a society in general. Bernard Roth has ethos because he has many degrees and achievements to back him up. Second, Bernard Roth shows pathos, this mean emotion, when he says Love is the ultimate unreasonable activity (Roth 50). This makes Roth sound heartless like he has no capacity for emotion. Roth then goes into more details and explains that most times when we ask a person why they love someone they go into a list of reasons, but if you look hard enough you could find all those qualities in someone else. Some say loves is just a form of projection where you or I might call it fate. When Roth says loves is unreasonable he is showing a lack of emotion which in it own shape is emotion. Bernard Roth also says in chapter 2 of his book, Projection is a common response (Roth 47). When we are guilty of doing something often times we will project it on to someone else. When I introduced the Mediterranean diet, an image probably popped into your head of some beautiful assortment of food in relation to those parts of the world. The Mediterranean diet incorporates a fulfilling variety of foods while moderating some of the most craved, but negatively impactful components of our regular diet. One point of emphasis in the diet is consumption of fruits and vegetables; some of the most recommended including grapes, blueberries, and starchy vegetables such as cauliflower and chickpeas. • 17. What Is Formative And Summative Assessment Introduction Assessment can be the engine of curriculum reform, or the principal impediment to its implementation (Mary Barnes, 2000) is a thought which is of great debate in the Republic of Ireland today. Education and curriculum are constantly evolving and often assessment gets left behind. The relationship between student learning and an effective curriculum lies in the power of the assessment. One cannot thrive without the other, and one cannot be entirely effective unless the other is equally as effective. Research has shown that formative assessment is effective in all educational settings (Paul Black, 1998).One major difference between formative assessment and summative assessment is the way in which formative assessment uses student involvement as an integral pillar. Without student involvement in the assessment process, formative assessment is not reaching its full potential. Many research papers have shown that student motivation is dramatically increased when students are involved in both their own learning and in the learning of others (Pintrich de Groot, 1990).Teachers, however, do not have a sit back role in formative assessment. They are still crucial to the proper use of this assessment by ways of designing appropriate assessment tasks, identifying attainable learning goals and outlining clear criteria for student success. One key factor in formative assessment is the return of feedback to students. When it comes to themes, the main question in the play is whether the band will complete the recording session despite conflicts among various band members and the power struggles between Rainey and Sturdyvant, the white owner of the recording studio. The battle of wills between Rainey and Sturdyvant echoes the historical battle between capitalists and workers; only in this case, Rainey holds on to the goods (her music) that she produces until she gets what she wants from the white producer. It is only after her demands are met and she and her band members are paid that Rainey signs off on the contract. The power struggle between Levee and the other band members over whose version of Ma Rainey s Black Bottom is recorded reflects a generational conflict defined by different attitudes towards music. Rainey and the band represent the older generation, preferring to play the song as they always have. Levee, the youngest band member, represents the new and ever changing generation of musicians who seeks a more improvisatory and jazz like version. The theme of power is also established through the examination of the relationship between black artists and the world of mass communications in the early twentieth century. A fast lane would allow ISPs to charge companies such as Netflix, Skype, PlayStation Plus, and other streaming services for faster connections that would allow consumers to access the services easier and faster. Currently, there is a freedom of choice in that ISPs are unable to obstruct certain sites or contents over others but that hasn t always been the case. There have been several cases over the last few years where ISPs have moved to block internet content. Comcast is probably the best known culprit. In the early to mid 2000 s, Comcast monitored network traffic patterns and began blocking certain websites (Ammori, 2014). The sites that were targeted were those that are known as peer to peer. Peer to peer (P2P) sites utilize technology that allow users to share data without having a centralized server. There have been instances where illegal data has been shared but it would be impossible for an ISP to determine that simply from traffic patterns. Implications Of Plato s Censorship Of Poetry In The Republic In the Republic, Plato proposes the complete censorship of imitative poetry from his ideal city, arguing that it corrupts individuals souls and therefore has a negative effect on society, resulting in injustice within the city. Although seemingly trivial at first, when considered within its proper context, the censorship of imitative poetry from the city would result in severe consequences. Throughout this essay I will discuss the political and psychological implications of its censorship, and will also refute Plato s argument, showing how it lacks soundness: notably, through a criticism of his epistemology. Regarding the political implications of the censorship of poetry, I will draw from the ideas of Karl Popper, who argued Plato to be one of the most influential philosophers on the emergence of totalitarian regimes in the 20th century, laying the foundations for their very existence (K. Popper, 1945). I will also show how poets themselves have an important political role within cities, in that they enable the general population to hold the state accountable for their actions. To discuss the psychological implications of poetry s censorship, I will compare the contrasting views of Plato and Aristotle regarding its effect on the soul, whereby Aristotle claims that poetry actually has beneficial, cathartic effects. Following these criticisms, it will become apparent that Plato s proposed ban of imitative poetry is indefensible. Firstly, to fully understand Plato s proposal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In US, online banking was introduced widely when four of the city s major banks (Citibank, Chase Manhattan, Chemical and Manufacturers Hanover) started to offer home banking services, using the videotex system. When the clicks and bricks euphoria hit in the late 1990s, many banks began to view Web based banking as a strategic imperative. The attraction of banks to online banking are fairly obvious: diminished transaction costs, easier integration of services, interactive marketing capabilities, and other benefits that boost customer lists and profit margins. Additionally, Web banking services allow institutions to bundle more services into single packages, thereby luring customers and minimizing overhead. For stock market and stock brokers, the introduction of National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) in 1971, the world s first electronic stock market, made a huge impact. The NASDAQ helped lower the spread (the difference between the bid price and the ask price of the stock) and reduce significantly the delay between the initiation and execution of stock orders. Moreover, NASDAQ has provided a basis for the development of online brokers, which leads to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Sensationalizing Criminal Activity in the Media The media constantly reports on criminal activity and crime as a whole within our community in which it has every right to do. However, the media often sensationalises crime in order to create moral panic within the community, using it as a way to control how the public perceives current community issues. Some people may be led to a blind acceptance of the reality of such presentations as constructed by the media (Crime and Justice, 2012, Pg. 63) Because a majority of the public have minimal experience with the judicial system, public knowledge and views of law and the legal system are dependent on media representations (N. Marder, 2001). General observation can quickly identify that the media almost always presents a distorted view of the law. The relationship between law and media is very complex and constantly evolving, however, it is clear that relatively few of us have experienced first hand the effects of serious criminal violence. (Crime and Justice, 2012) Our understanding of crime is predominantly derived from media and not from objective data, such as real time crime statistics or victimisation surveys. This is very problematic to members of a jury as it can be assumed that the majority of a jury have a distorted view of reality as Jurors are drawn from the community at large, so it is only to be expected that jurors will reflect the general social outlook and values of their communities. (Jurors 24/7, 2014) Greene (2014) wrote about how media ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Hariharan M, Wheatley TA, and Price JC s Study of... A study by Hariharan M, Wheatley TA, and Price JC (1997) investigated controlled release on two kinds of carrageenan, lambda carrageenan (Viscarin GP 209) and iota carrageenan (Gelcarin GP 379). They analyzed their respective compression capabilities through the use of a Strokes single punch machine. Yield pressure was calculated at 81.3 Pa for iota carrageenan and 105.2 MPa for lambda carrageenan through the use of Heckel plots out of die tablet densities. The results proved linear. Both carrageenan types yielded near zero order profiles in drug release tablet formulations. The tablet compression pressures had little to no effect on the profiles from 70 to 175 MPa. It was found out that while drug loading increased from 5% to 20%, the exponent of diffusion decreased from 1.056 to 0.678. From zero order release, the breakup of tablets during the dissolution and departure were the result of 30% drug loading. To predict the time for 50% release as a function of the concentration of both types of carrageenan, the researchers used multiple regression analysis, which was also used for microcrystalline cellulose, a third filler material used in the setup. They concluded that the observed values and the predicted values of the research were in good agreement and the R2 for the final cubic model was 0.9984. (Hariharan M, Wheatley TA, Price JC., 1997) B. • 35. Webcalc Ii Z test amp;One sample t test 1. A researcher is interested in whether students who attend private high schools have higher average SAT Scores than students in the general population. A random sample of 90 students at a private high school is tested and and a mean SAT score of 1030 is obtained. The average score for public high school student is 1000 (σ= 200). a. Is this a one or two tailed test? Key word whether .This is a two tailed hypothesis test. Researcher wants to know whether the groups being compared differ, but does not predict the direction of the difference. The mean of the sample will be different from or unequal to the mean of the general population. b. What are H0 and Ha for this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The null hypothesis is that endurance runners pulse will either no difference than other athletes or will have a higher pulse than other athletes. The null and alternative hypothesis for the one tailed directional test might more appropriately be written as H0:µ0 ≤ µ1, or µendurance runners pulse≤ µ Other Athletes Pulse Ha:µ0 gt; µ1, or µ endurance runners pulse gt; µ Other Athletes Pulse In other words, if the alternative hypothesis for a one tailed test is µ0 gt; µ1, then the null hypothesis is µ0 ≤ µ1, and to reject H0, the endurance runners have to have lower pulses than those of other athletes. d.
