Hope-Focused Marriage Counseling
Hope Focused Marriage Counseling
In Partial Fulfillment
Of the Requirements for the Course
Pre Marital Counseling (PACO 610)
February 18, 2010
Summary
Worthington has an approach that is dependent largely on the empathizing of the counselor rather than
the willingness of the involved (xiii). The essentials of this approach are the couples willingness to be
expressive in their affection only while continually being reserved in reactions to provocations.
Apparently, there is a chemical reaction which cascades more negativity (xxv), and the positivity to
negativity ratio needs lots of boosting (47).
The importance of the marriage relationship is that it is the only picture of Christ and His people that
exists on earth. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One can see their common values as assets that each partner holds. That is, they are not starting with
empty hands (129).
Positive change is brought about chiefly through direct request or verbal expectation (160). So much
of dialogue is idiomatic, hyperbole, sarcastic, critical, or manipulative. Say what you want needs to be
a constant piece of communication coaching from any counselor. Positive feedback is very important.
This is not saying that you agree with what is being said, but rather that you understand what is being
said and that the speaker knows that you understand (182). If a couple is busy making deposits in the
positivity bank of their spouse, an occasional blunderous withdrawal will not feel as devastating (220).
Waitpower is essentially remembering that while you re fixing these problems, they didn t peak
overnight, and they won t leave that quickly either (56). Furthermore, if the couple knew they could
have an enjoyable marriage within two years, that wait seems like a rather minimal investment in the
grand scheme of the life of a marriage (110). The process of healing cannot be hurried. It takes
deliberate steps of patience and betterment. There are certain actions that will have predictable results
(133). The couple must consider their behavior and see how it drives certain emotions, thoughts, and

Pierre Bourdieu s Contribution Of Understanding Education
Option 2: Pierre Bourdieu s contribution to understanding education. Introduction: Pierre Bourdieu
was born in the southern part of France. He was the only son of a minor civil servant, who left the
region to pursue a better academic opportunity in Paris. He completed his graduation in the subject of
philosophy from the elite École Normale Supérieure. He was teaching for about a year at a provincial
lyceé, before joining the French army and was departed to Algeria for two years. In this duration, his
interest shifted from philosophy to social sciences and after his return from the military, he attended
various seminars, read Marx and worked as an assistant to a sociologist. Finally, he converted into a
sociologist and became the Director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, according to Bourdieu, education promotes reproduction of inequality in the society, as the
higher class hold a higher status in the social structure. Bourdieu s Theories The Logic of Practice
(1990) written by Bourdieu raises fundamental issues relating to human behavior. He aims to identify
why humans behave in a particular manner and how we are to understand the world they have built.
He discusses how such understanding relies on three vital concepts, practice, habitus and field.
Practice: Practice is in general what social beings do. They have different motives and intentions
which help in creating and transforming their worlds. Habitus is an essential part of the formulation of
the practice theory and is considered to be the heart of the theory. Habitus: Habitus is one of the
influential concept of Bourdieu s theory. It is the durable disposition and orientation which are created
by practices within a particular structural context. For instance, it is viewed that girls generally prefer
to specialize in biology over physics or mathematics. This is because it is considered that girls are care
givers and will handle and relate to the subject biology better than physics or math. It is an ingrained
habit that is developed due to some enduring social interactions which are transferrable from one
context to another. This shift can be transferred only in

An Interpretation Of The Fourteenth Amendment
The 13th
*Provides us with an interpretation of the 13th amendment. 13th amendment basically abolished
slavery
*Conveys to us what the Prison Industrial Complex is is a term used to describe the overlapping
interests of government and industry that use surveillance, policing and imprisonment as solutions to
economic, social and political problems (http://www.prisonabolition.org/what is the prison industrial
complex/)
*Throughout the film DuVernay maps the journey of African Americans as they endured slavery,
segregation, then integration, and finally societal oppression; how they went from slavery to mass
incarceration.
She uses the aesthetics of sound, and lighting which are important contributors to the themes of
bondage and inequality. Slavery was our country s old economic system, therefore, when he 13th
amendment freed these people, how were they supposed to rebuild their economy. People who are
locked up in prison often provide the system with an extremely cheap source of labor. Furthermore,
those in prison are suavely people who come from poor or low income families. Yet, they are charged
high rates when talking to family members in prison. In some places, one must work and hour and a
half making minimum wage in order to have a simple 10 minute phone call with someone in prison.
Additionally, politicians throughout the 80 s and 90 s played a crucial role in the development of the
system which exists today. Richard Nixon s war on drugs is when we began

Stage 3 Stage 2 Requirements
Stage 2 requirements are designed to promote the patient engagement by providing secure on line
access to their personal health information and promoting health information exchange between
providers to improve care coordination. In order for hospitals to progress to stage 2, they must have
met stage 1 criteria for a full 2 years. In order for hospitals to meet requirements for stage 2 they must
meet a total of 19 objectives (16 core, 3 menu). Many of these objectives require consistency and
maintenance of stage 1 criteria. Cerner® features that aid in meeting stage 2 requirements for
meaningful use are:
All features listed in Stage 1 discussion.
The Patient Portal. The patient portal gives patients the ability to view their personal health
information online, to download and to transmit information about a hospital admission.
Core objectives #8, 14 and 15 and menu objective #6 for meaningful use address specific laboratory
requirements. Several Cerner programs will address these objectives. Health Sentry will be used for

While there is a learning curve associated with moving from paper charting to on line documentation
of nursing care, there are a few measures that can decrease the amount of time spent in front of the
computer. In order to avoid time spent frequently logging into the system there are security features
that can be used such as finger print technology and employee badge swipe technology. Instead of
writing notes on paper and then recording in the computer nurses are encouraged to complete
documentation at the patient bedside at the time of patient care

High Middle Ages
1. The civilization of the High Middle Ages was discussed in chapter 10 of the book Culture and
Value: Survey of Humanities, Volume 1 . The civilization was lasted from 1150 C.E to 1300 C.E and
centered in the city of Paris in modern day Europe. Their main focus is to search for synthesis or to
articulate all knowledge systemically. Their central belief system was Christian religion. Their system
of government or political system is feudalism. Feudalism is a form of government that had its
primary focus on holding of land. Moreover, feudal society is hierarchical, highly static, and
organized. Each classes obey the classes higher than them. The system of feudalism is important

The school curriculum from kindergarten to grade 12 can be traced back to as early as 11th century.
During that time, the curriculum is divided into 2 parts: Trivium and Quadrivium. Trivium consisted
of grammar, rhetoric, and dialectic while Quadrivium contained arithmetic, geometry, music, and
astronomy. They also were known as the Seven Liberal Arts. Due to the drastically development of the
society leading to demanding for educated classes in order to support socioeconomic structure,
universities such as Oxford and Cambridge in England, University of Paris in France, and the
University of Bologna in Italy that people know today were founded in the late 12th century. There is
also a remarkable continuity between the organization and purposes of the medieval and modern
university. From 1150 C.E. to 1250 C.E., people discovered and published texts from ancient world
consisting of the lost books from Aristotle, the scientific and mathematical knowledge between
Christians and Muslims, legal studies, and dialectics, which are the intellectual techniques involving
rigorous reasoning to arrive at logical conclusion. Even today, these subjects are still being studied in
various colleges and universities all around the world. The gothic cathedrals of Europe, the famous
Notre Dame in Paris and the Cathedrals in Reims and Chartres, were built in High Middle

Automotive Technician
There are millions of automotive vehicles racing on the roads everywhere. Besides that, there are
numerous automotive manufacturers and new types of vehicles such as hybrids and full electric, which
make each vehicle technologically different from another. Naturally, a different skill set and
knowledge base is required to repair each automobile.
With time and use, cars tend to wear out and have diverse problems. This is where the role of an
automotive technician begins. They are not only responsible for identifying the specific causes of
problems in automobiles but also for correcting the problems through diagnosis and repair.
They help prolong the life of a vehicle and improve its efficiency by using specialized tools and
diagnostic equipment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technologies used in different vehicles are evolving with high tech computer and safety systems as
well as power plants for electric and hybrid cars. As new technologies develop, there is more of a need
for specialized technicians to diagnose and repair vehicles with hi tech systems.
Due to a shortage of highly skilled automotive technicians, unparalleled opportunities are in store for
specialized automotive technicians to work and develop within the automotive repair field.
Employment shortages in other fields in some cases have been outsourced, but automotive repair is
one that can t be outsourced. Opportunities to work with dealers and repair facilities should be readily
available for many years to come for a specialized automotive technician with the proper training and
certification!
One doesn t necessarily have to be a graduate or a postgraduate in order to work as a general
automotive technician. You can begin your career during high school by joining the training programs
popularly offered to students. It will give you a basic know how about cars, their parts and systems.
Therefore, by the time you graduate high school, you may already be earning money and will be
skilled enough to start working at a larger company that will present more opportunity.

The Controversial Theory Of Evolution
The controversial theory of evolution has been prevalent in the minds of scientists, religious leaders,
and those who follow since Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace first made the ideas officially
known in 1858. The theory they proposed was that the universe and all organisms within it is
constantly changing and adapting to the world around them since the beginning of time. Since Darwin
s and Wallace s theories were shared, there has been constant disagreement and debate between the
science world and the religious world regarding evolution. Some science and religious advocates
agree that there is the possibility of both the scientific and religious beliefs on how the world came
about co exiting. However, some religious groups, like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the many examples that support this idea that organisms evolve and change over time is the
finding of the Tiktaalik; though it is an unknown species it has traits that are similar to reptiles,
amphibians, and birds that exist today. Because of fossil findings like the Tiktaalik scientists no longer
have doubts about evolution and it s continuing occurrence (Alberto 2008).
In the 20th century, with the development of the science of genetics biologists began understanding
the mechanics of how traits are passed down to different generations and how they are altered through
the discovery of DNA and its major importance. They learned that parts of DNA from each parent are
passed down to the offspring. Mutations of DNA, which cause alterations of species, can also occur
when traits are being passed down to the offspring. Mutations in DNA can cause the offspring to have
difficulties surviving and eventually lead to the extinction of the species. On the other hand, mutation
of DNA can affect the offspring positively and change its traits to be stronger and a better survivor in
that certain environment which would eventually lead to a growth in population of the certain species.
Mutations in DNA can also be neutral and have no effect of the offspring s traits. This battle with
nature and survival through DNA lead to the foundation of the idea of Natural Selection (Alberto
2008). Natural selection is survival of the fittest , the

The Great War Of World War I
Even though The Great War ended over 100 years ago, people are still arguing about how it all started.
Beginning in 1914, and involving over 30 countries, World War One was the first major war to impact
the world. Russia, Germany, Austria Hungary, and Serbia could all be considered factors that helped
rise World War One. Before the war, countries faced many internal and external conflicts, leading to
rising tensions and concern across Europe, and later the world. Out of the many nations who
participated in the war, Austria Hungary, Germany, and Serbia seem to have contributed the most to
the start of World War One. Whether it was an assassination, irrational demands, or inane ideas,
Austria Hungary, Germany, and Serbia were the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea, known as social Darwinism, in Austria Hungary perhaps further strengthened the want by
various ethnic groups to leave Austria Hungary. Additionally, a group which the Austro Hungarians
controlled were the Serbs, who were placed under their control after the Bosnian crisis of 1908. In the
Bosnian crisis, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina, against the approval of Serbia(
Bosnian crisis of 1908 ). Because Austria Hungary didn t have the approval of the Serbians, the
connection between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was broken. Serbia was connected to Bosnia
and Herzegovina because the countries had ethnic and geographic similarities. It seems likely that
these connections limited the conflicts between Serbia and Bosnia, lowering the tension in the Balkan
region. However, the annexation by Austria Hungary created a barrier between Bosnia and
Herzegovina and Serbia because the Serbians already had previous hatred for Austria Hungary. This
separation angered Serbia to an extent where Serbia demanded a portion of the annexed land be given
to them. Austria declined, and soon after threatened to invade Serbia if they continued with their
demands. The threats by Austria Hungary suggest that they had no fear of creating conflict with
Serbia, and would rather anger Serbia than help them. In addition, the provinces of Bosnia and
Herzegovina had previously proved economically prosperous for

Orion Negotiation Or The Hunt Explanation
I have chosen the Orion constellation, or the hunter constellation as some call it. I chose this
constellation because it is a beautiful constellation. Orion is the brightest and most beautiful of the
winter constellations. Some of its stars, including Betelgeuse and Rigel, are among the brightest stars.
While it was named after the hunter in Greek mythology it is definitely not stealthy. Orion is one of
the most prominent and recognizable constellations in the sky and can be seen throughout the world. It
is located on the celestial equator.
According to mythology, Orion proclaimed himself the greatest hunter in the world, to the dismay of
Hera, wife of Zeus. Hera had a scorpion kill Orion and Zeus put him into the sky as a constellation.

Appropriate Actionable Metrics For Population Health
appropriate actionable metrics for population health is complicated, but critically important to ensure
an organization meets its Triple Aim goals.
Limited Resources
Lastly, limited resources also contribute to difficulty with implementing Triple Aim objectives. The
Triple Aim journey will require redesigning how organizations function and deliver care. In turn,
substantial changes will be associated with initial costs. As mentioned, implementing a sufficient IT
system is oftentimes required. Although an IT system may consume massive resources, there are many
other costs involved. For instance, the organizational structure will need to accommodate new tasks.
This could require creating new positions or providing additional training for existing employees.
Population Health
Despite these obstacles, Triple Aim objectives are extremely important in part because it focuses on
improving population health. But, what exactly is population health? Unfortunately, it is difficult to
define because population health is an emerging concept that does not have a universally agreed upon
definition. In 2003, Greg Stoddart and David Kindig proposed population health is the health
outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group (IHI,
2015, para. 1). Although the IHI currently uses this definition, it only focuses on improving health
outcomes (Stoto, 2013, p. 2). Similarly, Dunn and Hayes s defined population health as

Analysis Of Nat Turner
Reading Nat Turner, Kyle Baker gives a sense of how Turner life was when he was a boy living in his
village all the way up to his death. In the beginning of the book, Baker focuses on a woman and how
her facial emotions changed quickly, from angry, happy and then scared (12,13). The author is
showing how quick your life can change. You are living with fun and games, but then you are running
into the forest to save yourself.
Given that, in chapter 2 there is an elder man sneaking off in the middle of the night to bang on his
drum for his entertainment in his life, but not allowing the white folks to find his instrument (63).
Then on page 64 the white folks hear him and find him and in a matter of seconds what use to make
him happy was taken away and the elder was hung from his hands and whipped for his actions. Here
comes Nat Turner wanting to have education in his life, but he was being rejected by the people that
could help him (71). So what could have made Turner happy in successful for his future was taken
away when the door was slammed in his face. Little later in the chapter he always he would be with
his mom and dad every night (76). Then one random day the slave owner of the Turner decided to sell
them off (99), and now his family is broken apart and unsure of the next time they may see each other
again. Even though education was rejected to Turner he still found a way to learn how to read and
write (86). So this helped him regain something that he thought he

Reflection On The Long Chain Reflection
Connects: The Long Chain Reflection In the movie, I thought the story of the chain of events leading
to the various chemical discoveries was very interesting. For most of the discoveries, It was not a
straightforward process in which the intention behind the formation of the new product coincided with
its practical use. There were a lot of discoveries made for one purpose, but ended up being
implemented for a different purpose. Not only that, but there were several products which led to
subsequent discoveries in completely unrelated fields. I thought it was interesting how the history of
the development of polymers began with the intention of creating a protective coating for the hull of
cargo ships, and eventually gave way to products like, clothing dyes, alternative forms of light,
fertilizers, etc.. Throughout the movie, it seemed that when a need emerged in the world, the chemists
of the time went about trying to find a solution. This then created a domino effect because once one
need was met, it would usually affect something else, creating another need to fulfil. For example, the
color dye industry boomed in Germany because of the discovery of the first artificial aniline dye by
William Perkin. This was followed by a growth in the population. The growth in population caused a
food crisis, which needed to be solved by the invention of fertilizer. As a result, calcium carbide and
the Haber Bosch process were invented. The product from the Haber Bosch

California s Gas Prices Overpriced
California s Gas Prices Overpriced California since the gold rush has been known as the Golden State
where it s flooded with multicultural richness from the beaches to the mountains. California today is
the most densely populated state with 38.8 million residents and is still rising, however, not only is the
population ever increasing so are gas prices. Allysia Finley an editorial writer from The Wall Street
Journal states, The national average is $2.76 a gallon, while the Golden State drivers pay $3.88. Eco
virtue is expensive (Finley 1). Gas prices in California has left an effect of overpriced due to many
contributing factors: regulation over the environment, overconsumption, and how rational people think

However, mostly these regulations have affect only those small refineries drastically to the point of a
shut down and let only the big and powerful industrial companies take over and collect more profit.
Jennifer L. Brown author of The Market Effects of Going Green states, Additionally, trends in industry
concentrations during the time period reformulated gasoline regulation compliance appear to have
favored large refiners as small refiner market share decreased and industry concentration increased
simultaneously from 1997 to 1999 (Brown 126). Meaning that regulations in California can be visible
from the 90 s and have slowly increased, yet unnoticed to the public until now. While these large
corporations have slowly eliminated its small rivals and maintain more of the power of the market in
gasoline. Which later can have an effect of market failure.
Multiple solutions to California s problem have a rise in order to prevent a long run effect or a market
failure. For instance, Tom Steyer a billionaire environmentalist has proposed an oil extraction tax.
However, adding another tax can lead into two directions. First, if it becomes a corrective tax to
corporations it can correct their actions, and take account of the social cost. Which leads to low prices
for consumers, and at the same time protect the environment because the seller will have the incentive
to reduce low pollution. Or it can create

corner of North America, the western Subarctic region of Alaska and Canada. The Apache Indians
belong to the southern branch of the Athabascan group, whose languages constitute a large family,
with speakers in Alaska, western Canada, and American Southwest. The fact that the Apaches
originated in the western mountainous Subarctic region makes their nomadic behavior after the arrival
in the American Southwest more comprehensible; the tribes of the Southwest were highly mobile and
moved from place to place depending on availability of food. They ... Show more content on

Raiding had been something to Apache had only done once in awhile but now that they couldn t hunt
buffalo any longer raiding became necessary for their survival. The hostility between the Apache and
the Spanish settlers increased when New Mexico became a Spanish Colony . From the time of the
Spanish colonization until 1886 they were noted for their warlike disposition. According to the written
history of whites, Apaches have always been hostile; in truth, serious warlike behavior could usually
be attributed to belligerent behavior on the part of the whiteman, or misunderstandings between the
two peoples.
Since no single food source could support their people for any length of time the Athabaskan
continued to move around. Because they were accustomed to living in mountainous regions their
migration southward followed the Rocky Mountain range until they eventually reached the
Southwestern us, probably in the 1500 s. The reason for all this southward trek is not so clear but is
most likely because of lack of game and food. During the migration they broke into smaller bands that
settled in various areas of the country. Those that landed in what are now the states of Colorado, New
Mexico, Arizona, and Utah adopted some of the culture of the Pueblo Indians and eventually came to
be known as Navajos; others, who became the Western

Invitation To Sociology Summary
Peter L. Bergen wrote Invitation to Sociology with hopes to get the reader to reexamine his or her
social world and become cognizant of never before considered issues. He discusses many sociological
topics including culture shock, culture shock minus geographical displacement, and sociological
debunking. Culture shock refers to the feeling of disbelief or astonishment when something totally
new to one person is completely mundane and traditional to another person s culture. A similar
sentiment can occur in your own culture when something behind closed doors comes to light that you
had no idea was happening.
Within any society, people take their own way of life for granted. Like Bergen says in his article,
Invitation to Sociology, Americans take the fact that we are not cannibals for granted. However, if we
were to travel to another country that does practice cannibalism, we would be shocked. Most people
are not hoarders, so when we see on television or hear about those who are, we are bewildered by this,
also. This happens because most people tend to avoid shocking discoveries and ... Show more content

His justification for this is that he thinks people should look behind the facades. For example, what
factors go into choosing students in the college admission process? At first, one might say Grade Point
Average, SAT scores, or extracurricular activities. These factors may play some part in determining
who is accepted and who is rejected from a college, but if you look beyond that, you could argue that
race, gender, and social class also have some impact on admitting students. Colleges and universities
are always looking for diversity. If one year a college has less Hispanic females than usual, then more
Hispanic females will be accepted into the college for the following year. This goes for any race,
gender, and class. It is important to look behind the facades of social structure because that is where

Cryptococcus Neoformans is a Basidiomycetous Yeast Fungus
Introduction/Background
Cryptococcus neoformans is a basidiomycetous yeast fungus that is enclosed with a polysaccharide
capsule. C. neoformans can undergo sexual reproduction that is due to crossing α and a mating types,
resulting in the formation of sexual spores or basidiospores (Buchanan and Murphy, 1998). It is an
intracellular pathogen that affects more than one million individuals, resulting in over 700,000 deaths
per year (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Individuals become infected with this
pathogen when they inhale fungal particles from the various sources that C. neoformans is found in:
bird guano, decaying vegetables and soil (Upadhya et al. 2013). These particles then enter the alveoli
within the lungs. In individuals with a healthy immune system, the infection is cleared or stays
dormant until an imbalance of the immune system occurs. However, in individuals with compromised
immune systems such as those with HIV, cancer or those taking corticosteroid medications; the fungus
can disseminate and enter the central nervous system. Symptoms include coughing, chest pain, fever,
weight loss, pneumonia and respiratory distress syndrome as well as meningoencephalitis that is fatal
if left untreated (Bose et al. 2003; Upadhya et al. 2013).
Cell mediated immunity in the infected host is very important to respond to fungal invaders.
Phagocytic cells like macrophages, and neutrophils produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) which kill

Privacy, Crime, And Prevention
Privacy, Crime, and Prevention
While there are many crimes committed on a daily basis in various forms, people who use computers
seldom think about computer crimes, and what measures need to be taken in order to prevent those
type of crimes. Also many people who use computers are not aware of the privacy and security
measures that are taken advantage of. In order to handle these situations, it is important to be educated
on topics such as how to protect your privacy (and who is able to view your personal information
without you knowing), the crimes committed dealing with malware and other virus agents, and how to
utilize tools and stay away from scams that you may encounter. These topics are important and should
be addressed to all of the public, but particularly to children and the elderly who are the least of
informed on the ever changing technological world and how it can directly effect them if precautions
are not taken.
Protect yourself
According to Norton, a well known security software company, always ensure that your computer
software is up to date and apply patches to the software when it becomes available to lessen a hacker
attack on your system. Having up firewalls will discourage the hacker and motivate them to find a less

The film ‘There Will Be Blood’ by Thomas Anderson
The film There Will Be Blood by Thomas Anderson is very complex and a movie that makes you
think. In the beginning it was very confusing because you have to follow along with the characters
without words being said. Also, because of all the possible disorders that can be developing in the
characters of the movie. It is most recognized by the main character Daniel Plainview and all the
possible perspectives of interpretations (Analysis 0:20) this movie has. As I was watching this movie,
this would be more of a family study as its most important theme. (Analysis 0:36) This is because it
seems that Daniel is the father to all the characters and then they are in the end related to him in some
way. I believe that all the characters in the movie that were introduced were there to affect Daniel in
some way, be a contrast to him, or be a reflection of him.
Daniel Plainview is a man who has severe trust issues and is very troubled, but he wants to have a
family. His characteristics are so heavily shown though the movie that they end up being his major
flaws in the movie. These flaws are the things that end up destroying his connections to his family in
every aspect. Anything that was thrown at him in the movie, did not impact him enough to change
who he really was. For example, his son going deaf from the oil well explosion, which was an
explosion that sent H.W flying and ultimately hitting his head on the hard roof of the shack. All of this
happened because Daniel did not

The Importance Of Masculinity
Masculinity is not something given to you, but something you gain. And you gain it by winning small
battles with honor, (Norman Mailer). Masculinity holds a different meaning for everybody. For some
people it means being a male, but for others it holds a deeper meaning. For example, my dad believes
that in order to have masculinity he must be able to fix everything. He takes on tasks having to do with
landscaping, plumbing, lighting, and even interior design; most of the time, he says something along
the lines of I can fix that in a minute or I ve just got to go get the supplies. He then waits until my
mom gets a professional to come do the task, and he claims that we did not give him enough time to
get it done. My dad, along with my other male friends, feels that since he is a male he needs to prove
his masculinity by putting on the act of a handyman. My father went to school at Johnson and Wales
University for a degree in criminal justice. Getting a bachelor s degree in criminal justice does not
teach one how to fix the caulk in a bathtub; in spite of that, my father attempted this task. A couple of
weeks ago, I realized that the caulk in my shower had begun to deteriorate. I informed my dad that I
thought it needed to be repaired and suggested he call a plumber. His response went a little bit like this
Why do I need a plumber? That s an easy fix! All I have to do is... He then proceeded to explain to me
how he believed one would fix the caulk in a shower. I knew

Research Paper On House Crickets
There are 900 species of crickets; one of the most common species, used a lot of times for bait, is the
house cricket or Acheta Domesticus. Most species of crickets are nocturnal meaning they are more
active at night. House crickets tend to be found in the Eastern part of the United States. House
Crickets have shorter lifespans than most other species of crickets living only about three months
while other cricket species such as the mole cricket can live for about a year. Males are the ones who
chirp as a mating call, typically at night because the crickets are nocturnal and are therefore more
active at night. The crickets chirp by rubbing their wings together. Crickets have exogenous
entrainment behaviors specifically their chirping at night. Exogenous entrainment is the process of

that crickets do react to light frequency. It is important that crickets do see different colors because if
they didn t they would never react to the change of light color in the experiment making the testing

important to know because if crickets did not respire a good amount in a fair amount of time, it

Summary Of Jerry Spinelli s Stargirl
Stargirl is a realistic fiction chapter book that was written by Jerry Spinelli and was published on
August 8, 2000. Stargirl has been awarded the 2003 Grand Canyon Reader Award for Teen Book, the

homeschooled and when she started school, she really stood out because she had never been socialized
like I had. She did not have the peer pressure to dress or act a certain way. No long after she arrived,
she began to change to fit in. Unlike Stargirl, this girl changed and embraced being different from who
she once was. I do not like to admit it, but at the time I was the Leo to her Stargirl meaning I had a bit
of an influence on her change due to the peer pressure. It was not until I reached my sophomore year

The United States Army Signal Corps
The storied history of the United States Army Signal Corps is lined with technological achievement
and advancement. Evidence of the technological advancement and achievement is seen in the Signal
Corps development of the Airplane, the meteorological service and more recently the massive
improvement in net centric communication, which has led to greater command and control for leaders
in the field. It is now time for the Signal Corps to tackle the next big project, and that project is
robotics, a field that can change the way the Army fights and wins wars.
Robotics is a rather large field with limitless capabilities, but there is one place in particular that
robotics can have the highest impact, and that is security. Securing our military bases , be it forward
operating bases, outposts, or even our garrison areas have become a major issue over the last decade
and countless lives have been lost in doing so but with the use of robotics we can make it safer. Using
robotics in base security will allow the United States Army to make massive changes in force
employment and the Signal Corps already has the tools necessary to make this happen with a little
help from the outside world.
One of the key concepts in changing force employment is the creation of a more flexible force capable
of responding to complex situations while maintaining security and working to achieve the Army s
goals of seizing, retain and exploit . One example of such a robot is the Mobile Detection Assessment

Raising Cattle Raiser Research Paper
Raising cattle is no easy feat. How much time and money do you suppose is demanded upon cattle
raisers? Probably more than you could fathom. A cattle raiser has to be ready for the inevitable
encounters faced by the industry. Loyalty to your livestock s health as well as enhancing your
marketing skills is vital in cattle production. As a business, Jones Cattle has many responsibilities that
require provision, resourcefulness, managing, innovation, and above all, protecting the cattle
themselves. Here are five key things to take into consideration when raising cattle.
1. Knowledge and wisdom of the industry
In order to succeed in the cattle business, it is vital you can recognize high quality calves. You have to
know if a heifer or a bull is good or not before you buy it and breed it to make babies to sell. Also, the
cattle industry is frequently fluctuating. With that being said, ones knack on remaining up to date with

3. Importance of animal health
Just as it is important that humans take in proper nutrition to remain healthy, it is imperative for cattle
as well. Proper nutrition is imperative to raising healthy cattle, but there are plenty of other health
dynamics to take into account. Sicknesses and injuries of your cattle can be expensive and can also
hurt your business. Having a vet that you trust to care for your calves needs is important in order to
prevent those from happening, and especially when it comes to vaccinations. Getting your cattle the
proper treatment they need is the only way to keep them alive and healthy.

Regulation of Not-for-profit Companies in Australia
Not for profit associations are associations that are formed to pursue some purpose other than to seek
financial gain for the organisation s individual members. Such associations may elect to incorporate as
a company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). As not for profit entities are
predominantly funded by public donation it is fundamental for their activities to exemplify
transparency. Furthermore, their administrative burden needs to be limited so the association can focus
its resources on pursuing the organisation s activities. In order to assess the effectiveness of current
legislative schemes underpinning reporting arrangements of not for profit companies limited by
guarantee, this report will compare the financial reporting and audit provisions applicable under the
Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) as opposed to those applicable under the Australian Charities and Non
for profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth). Following this, the operation of the provisions will be
evaluated by reference to administrative burden (specifically duplicity, complexity and incoordination)
and adequacy of public information. Finally, recommendations for change will be proposed.

Amendment (Corporate Reporting Reform) Act 2010 (Cth) has reduced financial reporting
requirements for companies limited by guarantee. These lowered requirements were justified by the

He cursed loudly as he typed frantically at the terminal s keyboard. Jack. Jack you ASSHOLE. Answer

Using this research as a basis, I held a focus group with six high school girls who watched the
critically acclaimed documentary by Jean Kilbourne entitled Still Killing Us Softly. After watching the
documentary, this group of girls came to understand the harmful effects of media exposure on
adolescents. This is a tremendous step in overcoming the development of eating disorders. Teaching
adolescents about messages in media is different from what scholars have suggested for preventing
eating disorders over the last several decades (Bennett et. al., 2001). Finally, I discuss the implications
of my findings.
DISORDERED EATING AND THE MEDIA
Scholars have continuously tried to understand why people develop eating disorders. Many have
tested and proven one prerequisite for certain: having a damaging, negative, self image (Fisher et. al.,
2003; Button, Loan, Davies Barke 1997; Cervera et. al., 2002; Thomas, James Bachmann, 2000; O
Dea Abraham, 2000). Other scholars have looked at how media interacts with these feelings of
negative body image to produce females who harm their bodies in order to be thin (Berel Irving, 2001;
Busselle, 2001; Gettman Roberts, 2004; Hargreaves Tiggemann, 2003; Hendriks, 2002; Kilbourne,

Sweeney Todd Summary
I. Intro.
The play Sweeney Todd has been performed on numerous stages since 1979. The 1982 version of
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was directed by Harold Prince. Unfortunately, I
watched a recoded production of the play; the recoding took place in 1982 but was based off the 1979
production. Over all my impression of Sweeney Todd, is that the play has a bitter sweet tone that
supports all the killing, lying, and deceiving that goes on in the play just so that Sweeney Todd could

II. Body Paragraph 1:
a. The scene that has interesting scenery would be one hour and twenty two minutes into the recorded
production. The scene is of Mrs. Lovett s restaurant; her restaurant is packed with people as Toby

that has a faded green color painted on it; against the while is a chest, poster, and a door. Mrs. Lovett,
herself standing next to a white bar like table, it is very high. She also has a barrel being supported by
some type of stand in her restaurant. Next to the platform that her restaurant is set up on is a table
were her customers sit and eat he meat pies.
b. The scenery in this moment did provide a sense of location. Based off how the scene was set up
anyone in the audience would ve been able to known that the current location of the play was Mrs.

Judaism Analysis
There were many arguments that early Christians made towards Judaism which involved both
theological and geographical aspects of Jerusalem. Early Christians, after Jesus s life, death, and
resurrection, formed very strong opinions towards the religion of Judaism. They believed that Jews
were to blame for the death and murder of their Savior, Jesus Christ, and that the destruction of the
Jewish Temple in 70 CE was their Divine Punishment from God. Along with this belief, Christians
also argued that the Jewish covenant had been passed to the church, so God was now with the
Christians instead of the Jews.
Theologically, Christians stood by the belief that Jews deserved the destruction of the Jewish Temple
in 70 CE because it was God s Divine Punishment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, early Christians removed the pagan Temple De Venus because they believed that it laid
on top of Jesus s tomb. Not only did they remove the temple, but Christians carried the debris and
unsacred polluted sin of the pagan temple far from Jerusalem to ensure that the New Jerusalem was
not contaminated with Jewish sin. Not only do these actions prove early Christians believing that God
was with them over the Jews and that they still deserved punishment, but it also demonstrates the
geographical arguments about the physical city of Jerusalem to purify their New Jerusalem. In an
excerpt from Eusebius s point of view, a witness of Constantine, he simply states it, Accordingly, on
the very spot which witnessed the Saviour s sufferings, a new Jerusalem was constructed, over against
the one so celebrated of old, which, since the foul stain of guilt brought on it by the murder of the
Lord, had experienced the last extremity of desolation, the effect of Divine judgment on its impious
people (Eusebius 143). Early Christians reinforced the idea of divine judgment and punishment
towards the religion of Judaism by constructing a metaphorical Jerusalem filled with sacredness and

Organizational behavior is concerned with the study of what people do in an organization and how
their behavior affects the organization s performance. (Robbins and Timothy, 2007, p. 10). A healthy
organization responds to globalization and increasing market share by understanding its foreign
assignments, people from different cultures, managing diversity, and foreign implications. Tyco
quickly made acquisitions and developed offshore networks that were managed by executives that did
not enforce an ethical code of behavior. Tyco falsified accounting records in order to meet U.S.
standards and profitability. Tyco set their sights on strategies that would improve growth and
investments, with disregard to any type of business code of ethics or standards. Complications
surfaced that the company was not handling money correctly and top management was to blame.
Either the company did not properly train their management (especially those who handled the
financial aspects of the business) or management was not governing themselves by company policies
and procedures that would make the business successful. It appears Kozlowski and his top executives
were able to persuade many employees to overlook company policies and procedures to pursue high
margins of profitability. This demonstrates that the organizational culture and management behavior
was overlooking their ethical obligations to the shareholder, company, and employees of Tyco. They

  • 2. Hope-Focused Marriage Counseling Hope Focused Marriage Counseling In Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Course Pre Marital Counseling (PACO 610) February 18, 2010 Summary Worthington has an approach that is dependent largely on the empathizing of the counselor rather than the willingness of the involved (xiii). The essentials of this approach are the couples willingness to be expressive in their affection only while continually being reserved in reactions to provocations. Apparently, there is a chemical reaction which cascades more negativity (xxv), and the positivity to negativity ratio needs lots of boosting (47). The importance of the marriage relationship is that it is the only picture of Christ and His people that exists on earth. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can see their common values as assets that each partner holds. That is, they are not starting with empty hands (129). Positive change is brought about chiefly through direct request or verbal expectation (160). So much of dialogue is idiomatic, hyperbole, sarcastic, critical, or manipulative. Say what you want needs to be a constant piece of communication coaching from any counselor. Positive feedback is very important. This is not saying that you agree with what is being said, but rather that you understand what is being said and that the speaker knows that you understand (182). Furthermore, if the couple knew they could have an enjoyable marriage within two years, that wait seems like a rather minimal investment in the grand scheme of the life of a marriage (110). The process of healing cannot be hurried. It takes deliberate steps of patience and betterment. There are certain actions that will have predictable results (133). It is an ingrained habit that is developed due to some enduring social interactions which are transferrable from one context to another. This shift can be transferred only in ... She uses the aesthetics of sound, and lighting which are important contributors to the themes of bondage and inequality. Slavery was our country s old economic system, therefore, when he 13th amendment freed these people, how were they supposed to rebuild their economy. • 10. The Controversial Theory Of Evolution The controversial theory of evolution has been prevalent in the minds of scientists, religious leaders, and those who follow since Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace first made the ideas officially known in 1858. The theory they proposed was that the universe and all organisms within it is constantly changing and adapting to the world around them since the beginning of time. Since Darwin s and Wallace s theories were shared, there has been constant disagreement and debate between the science world and the religious world regarding evolution. Some science and religious advocates agree that there is the possibility of both the scientific and religious beliefs on how the world came about co exiting. However, some religious groups, like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the many examples that support this idea that organisms evolve and change over time is the finding of the Tiktaalik; though it is an unknown species it has traits that are similar to reptiles, amphibians, and birds that exist today. Because of fossil findings like the Tiktaalik scientists no longer have doubts about evolution and it s continuing occurrence (Alberto 2008). In the 20th century, with the development of the science of genetics biologists began understanding the mechanics of how traits are passed down to different generations and how they are altered through the discovery of DNA and its major importance. They learned that parts of DNA from each parent are passed down to the offspring. Mutations of DNA, which cause alterations of species, can also occur when traits are being passed down to the offspring. Mutations in DNA can cause the offspring to have difficulties surviving and eventually lead to the extinction of the species. On the other hand, mutation of DNA can affect the offspring positively and change its traits to be stronger and a better survivor in that certain environment which would eventually lead to a growth in population of the certain species. Mutations in DNA can also be neutral and have no effect of the offspring s traits. This battle with nature and survival through DNA lead to the foundation of the idea of Natural Selection (Alberto 2008). Natural selection is survival of the fittest , the ... In the Bosnian crisis, Austria Hungary annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina, against the approval of Serbia( Bosnian crisis of 1908 ). Because Austria Hungary didn t have the approval of the Serbians, the connection between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was broken. Serbia was connected to Bosnia and Herzegovina because the countries had ethnic and geographic similarities. It seems likely that these connections limited the conflicts between Serbia and Bosnia, lowering the tension in the Balkan region. However, the annexation by Austria Hungary created a barrier between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia because the Serbians already had previous hatred for Austria Hungary. This separation angered Serbia to an extent where Serbia demanded a portion of the annexed land be given to them. Appropriate Actionable Metrics For Population Health appropriate actionable metrics for population health is complicated, but critically important to ensure an organization meets its Triple Aim goals. Limited Resources Lastly, limited resources also contribute to difficulty with implementing Triple Aim objectives. The Triple Aim journey will require redesigning how organizations function and deliver care. In turn, substantial changes will be associated with initial costs. As mentioned, implementing a sufficient IT system is oftentimes required. Although an IT system may consume massive resources, there are many other costs involved. For instance, the organizational structure will need to accommodate new tasks. This could require creating new positions or providing additional training for existing employees. Population Health Despite these obstacles, Triple Aim objectives are extremely important in part because it focuses on improving population health. But, what exactly is population health? Unfortunately, it is difficult to define because population health is an emerging concept that does not have a universally agreed upon definition. In 2003, Greg Stoddart and David Kindig proposed population health is the health outcomes of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group (IHI, 2015, para. 1). Reflection On The Long Chain Reflection Connects: The Long Chain Reflection In the movie, I thought the story of the chain of events leading to the various chemical discoveries was very interesting. For most of the discoveries, It was not a straightforward process in which the intention behind the formation of the new product coincided with its practical use. There were a lot of discoveries made for one purpose, but ended up being implemented for a different purpose. Not only that, but there were several products which led to subsequent discoveries in completely unrelated fields. I thought it was interesting how the history of the development of polymers began with the intention of creating a protective coating for the hull of cargo ships, and eventually gave way to products like, clothing dyes, alternative forms of light, fertilizers, etc.. Throughout the movie, it seemed that when a need emerged in the world, the chemists of the time went about trying to find a solution. This then created a domino effect because once one need was met, it would usually affect something else, creating another need to fulfil. For example, the color dye industry boomed in Germany because of the discovery of the first artificial aniline dye by William Perkin. This was followed by a growth in the population. The growth in population caused a food crisis, which needed to be solved by the invention of fertilizer. As a result, calcium carbide and the Haber Bosch process were invented. He discusses many sociological topics including culture shock, culture shock minus geographical displacement, and sociological debunking. Culture shock refers to the feeling of disbelief or astonishment when something totally new to one person is completely mundane and traditional to another person s culture. A similar sentiment can occur in your own culture when something behind closed doors comes to light that you had no idea was happening. Within any society, people take their own way of life for granted. Like Bergen says in his article, Invitation to Sociology, Americans take the fact that we are not cannibals for granted. C. neoformans can undergo sexual reproduction that is due to crossing α and a mating types, resulting in the formation of sexual spores or basidiospores (Buchanan and Murphy, 1998). It is an intracellular pathogen that affects more than one million individuals, resulting in over 700,000 deaths per year (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Individuals become infected with this pathogen when they inhale fungal particles from the various sources that C. neoformans is found in: bird guano, decaying vegetables and soil (Upadhya et al. 2013). These particles then enter the alveoli within the lungs. In individuals with a healthy immune system, the infection is cleared or stays dormant until an imbalance of the immune system occurs. However, in individuals with compromised immune systems such as those with HIV, cancer or those taking corticosteroid medications; the fungus can disseminate and enter the central nervous system. Symptoms include coughing, chest pain, fever, weight loss, pneumonia and respiratory distress syndrome as well as meningoencephalitis that is fatal if left untreated (Bose et al. 2003; Upadhya et al. 2013). Masculinity holds a different meaning for everybody. For some people it means being a male, but for others it holds a deeper meaning. For example, my dad believes that in order to have masculinity he must be able to fix everything. He takes on tasks having to do with landscaping, plumbing, lighting, and even interior design; most of the time, he says something along the lines of I can fix that in a minute or I ve just got to go get the supplies. He then waits until my mom gets a professional to come do the task, and he claims that we did not give him enough time to get it done. My dad, along with my other male friends, feels that since he is a male he needs to prove his masculinity by putting on the act of a handyman. I knew a girl who was homeschooled and when she started school, she really stood out because she had never been socialized like I had. She did not have the peer pressure to dress or act a certain way. No long after she arrived, she began to change to fit in. Unlike Stargirl, this girl changed and embraced being different from who she once was. I do not like to admit it, but at the time I was the Leo to her Stargirl meaning I had a bit of an influence on her change due to the peer pressure. It was not until I reached my sophomore year of high school that I truly began to embrace who I was and my difference. I was around the same age as Stargirl and I was having a difficult time embracing who I was when I was always accustomed to blending in. When I read about Stargirl s confidence and how comfortable she felt in her own skin, it reminded me of the struggles I overcame to feel this way. At this point in my life, I feel a strong connection with Stargirl in that I know who I am, and I feel confident with just being me. Regulation of Not-for-profit Companies in Australia Not for profit associations are associations that are formed to pursue some purpose other than to seek financial gain for the organisation s individual members. Such associations may elect to incorporate as a company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). As not for profit entities are predominantly funded by public donation it is fundamental for their activities to exemplify transparency. Furthermore, their administrative burden needs to be limited so the association can focus its resources on pursuing the organisation s activities. In order to assess the effectiveness of current legislative schemes underpinning reporting arrangements of not for profit companies limited by guarantee, this report will compare the financial reporting and audit provisions applicable under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) as opposed to those applicable under the Australian Charities and Non for profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth). Following this, the operation of the provisions will be evaluated by reference to administrative burden (specifically duplicity, complexity and incoordination) and adequacy of public information. Timothy Lawrence could feel the massive space station shudder as it started to be pulled towards the surface of that hated planetb Pandora. As soon as he saw Jack s face appear on all the monitors in their apartment he had gone to his computer to try to get the digital man s attention. Thus far, he had been unsuccessful and now, for some reason, Helios was going down. He cursed loudly as he typed frantically at the terminal s keyboard. Jack. Jack you ASSHOLE. Answer me! Never before had he regretted not learning more about computers than he did right now. The monitor blipped on with that strange image of his departed lover he had seen elsewhere in the station. This is a tremendous step in overcoming the development of eating disorders. Teaching adolescents about messages in media is different from what scholars have suggested for preventing eating disorders over the last several decades (Bennett et. al., 2001). Finally, I discuss the implications of my findings. DISORDERED EATING AND THE MEDIA Scholars have continuously tried to understand why people develop eating disorders. Many have tested and proven one prerequisite for certain: having a damaging, negative, self image (Fisher et. al., 2003; Button, Loan, Davies Barke 1997; Cervera et. al., 2002; Thomas, James Bachmann, 2000; O Dea Abraham, 2000). The 1982 version of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was directed by Harold Prince. Unfortunately, I watched a recoded production of the play; the recoding took place in 1982 but was based off the 1979 production. Over all my impression of Sweeney Todd, is that the play has a bitter sweet tone that supports all the killing, lying, and deceiving that goes on in the play just so that Sweeney Todd could get his so called revenge. II. Body Paragraph 1: a. The scene that has interesting scenery would be one hour and twenty two minutes into the recorded production. The scene is of Mrs. Lovett s restaurant; her restaurant is packed with people as Toby serves the guest meat pies. Mrs. Lovett s restaurant has an antique look to it. She has a wooden wall that has a faded green color painted on it; against the while is a chest, poster, and a door. Mrs. Lovett, herself standing next to a white bar like table, it is very high. She also has a barrel being supported by some type of stand in her restaurant. Next to the platform that her restaurant is set up on is a table were her customers sit and eat he meat pies. b. • 39. Judaism Analysis There were many arguments that early Christians made towards Judaism which involved both theological and geographical aspects of Jerusalem. Early Christians, after Jesus s life, death, and resurrection, formed very strong opinions towards the religion of Judaism. They believed that Jews were to blame for the death and murder of their Savior, Jesus Christ, and that the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70 CE was their Divine Punishment from God. Along with this belief, Christians also argued that the Jewish covenant had been passed to the church, so God was now with the Christians instead of the Jews. Theologically, Christians stood by the belief that Jews deserved the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70 CE because it was God s Divine Punishment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, early Christians removed the pagan Temple De Venus because they believed that it laid on top of Jesus s tomb. Not only did they remove the temple, but Christians carried the debris and unsacred polluted sin of the pagan temple far from Jerusalem to ensure that the New Jerusalem was not contaminated with Jewish sin. Not only do these actions prove early Christians believing that God was with them over the Jews and that they still deserved punishment, but it also demonstrates the geographical arguments about the physical city of Jerusalem to purify their New Jerusalem. In an excerpt from Eusebius s point of view, a witness of Constantine, he simply states it, Accordingly, on the very spot which witnessed the Saviour s sufferings, a new Jerusalem was constructed, over against the one so celebrated of old, which, since the foul stain of guilt brought on it by the murder of the Lord, had experienced the last extremity of desolation, the effect of Divine judgment on its impious people (Eusebius 143). Tyco International Ltd is a diverse manufacturer who grew tremendously in the 1990 s and early 2000 s. The company had big ambitions with an aggressive program of acquisitions during this period where they spent an estimated $62 billion to purchase more than 1,000 companies. However, unbeknownst to the shareholders of Tyco and the world, Tyco was led by a management team and CEO (L. Organizational behavior is concerned with the study of what people do in an organization and how their behavior affects the organization s performance. (Robbins and Timothy, 2007, p. 10). A healthy organization responds to globalization and increasing market share by understanding its foreign assignments, people from different cultures, managing diversity, and foreign implications. Tyco quickly made acquisitions and developed offshore networks that were managed by executives that did not enforce an ethical code of behavior. Tyco falsified accounting records in order to meet U.S. standards and profitability. Tyco set their sights on strategies that would improve growth and investments, with disregard to any type of business code of ethics or standards. Complications surfaced that the company was not handling money correctly and top management was to blame. Either the company did not properly train their management (especially those who handled the financial aspects of the business) or management was not governing themselves by company policies and procedures that would make the business successful. It appears Kozlowski and his top executives were able to persuade many employees to overlook company policies and procedures to pursue high margins of profitability.
