AIALS Case Study
As early as the 1980s, schools were using AIALS as learning tools in the classroom, albeit on a much
smaller scale. An artificially intelligent assessment learning system designed for success is user
centered and addresses user relevant issues at all stages in whatever form is appropriate (Dillon, 1994,
p. 19). Hung et al. (2015) supported this phenomenon by indicating that when a system is well
designed, its users can navigate it easily, use its features and tools efficiently and respond
appropriately to the demands of the systems. Hence, a well designed AIALS is aligned accordingly
with usability principles, and with features and tools to enhance learning performance for users.
Generally, AIALS consists of four modules: an interface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These dimensions are considered the fundamental user requirements for defining the functionalities of
a good user interface, hence according to the ISO 9241 210 standard, usability is the measurement of
how a product is used to accomplish specific tasks with effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction
within a prescribed environment (Kaasinen et al., 2015). According to Chughtai et al. (2015) usability
takes into account the ease of use and learnability a system, including simple navigation for average
users. Nielsen (1994) posited that usability is a significant factor of interface design in order to ensure
a user friendly system, Kodavali and Blessing (2011) also suggested that usability is an important
factor when designing intelligent learning systems. Similarly, recent studies on usability testing of an
AIALS revealed that there is a direct positive relationship between usability and learning effectiveness
(Lin et al., 2014). Consequently, without a good user interface design, the goal/s of the system may
not be realized. The integration of usability principles in the design and development of AIALS is
important, involving a user centered focus approach to increase the overall effectiveness of learning
systems (Hung et al., 2015).
User Experience (UX) The ISO 9241 210 defined user experience (UX) as a person s perceptions and
responses resulting from the use and/or anticipated use of a product, system or service . The user
experience includes both the

Application Of A Distributed Agricultural Sensor Network
Abstract As the world s population continues to grow, new agricultural technologies will be needed to
keep up with the growing demand. To accomplish this, agricultural systems must increase production
while at the same time more effectively utilizing and conserving the resources that go into that
production. One possible solution is the collection and analysis of environmental data. IoT sensor
networks can cheaply provide distributed data that can be used to improve plant health, increase
harvest yields, and decrease waste. The primary focus of this project will be to prototype a distributed
agricultural sensor network that will be able to monitor the environment, network and analyze the data
on the cloud, and finally provide feedback to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an active area of IoT research and will be the primary focus of this project. If data can be
effectively gathered, networked, and analyzed, then that data can then be used to impart real and
significant change on the environment. For agricultural systems this will result in improved plant
health, increased harvest yields, and decreased waste. A. Background One of the most utilized and
standardized IoT stacks is the IEEE 802.11.4, 6LoWPAN, RPL, and CoAP stack. The IoT stack layers
are similar to OSI and they share many of the same abstraction layer divisions. These similarities
assist with the interoperability of IoT protocols with those of the Internet. The IEEE802.15.4 protocol
defines the physical and link layers of stack. These layers define how data is modulated onto the
channel, how the channel is shared between multiple users, as well as the low level packet checks and
retransmissions. IEEE802.15.4 operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band using Quadrature Phase Shift
Keying with additional Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum encoding. This allows the radio to better
reject noise and other interference. IEEE802.15.4 utilizes 16, 5MHz channels in order to generate a
data throughput of 250kbps. The maximum payload size is 127 Bytes [1]. Compared to WiFi, the data
rate and maximum packet size is significantly less. These characteristics are the result of the limited
hardware used for

What Is The Theme Of The Red Scarf Girl
In the Red Scarf Girl book, teacher Zhang tells Ji LI Jiang that We cannot choose our families or our
class status. But we can choose our futures... You are still an educable child. He meant that just
because Ji Li grandpa was a one of the richest landlords in the city and to everyone by default Ji Li
and her family was considered Four old. Which means old customs, ideas, culture, and habits. The
worst thing to be considered during those times of 1966 in China because it could lead to you and your
family being ridiculed and jailed. Throughout all that he believed she was still able to be educated to
become anything she ever wanted to be in the future.
Hearing teacher Zhang tell Ji Li this really hit home for me. I remember being in kindergarten at

Through it all Ji Li had prevailed. After Mao passed Ji Li then began to realize just how bad of a
leader Mao really was. During those times you had to really think before you said anything. One bad
outburst could lead to prison or making your own people turn on you. Mao was a sick man but he
couldn t break Ji li. Now she has a part of history and lessons she can teach to her students.
During the development of Ji Li, her strongest influencers was her Teacher Zhang and her family.
Teacher Zhang was an incredible influencer for telling Ji Li that she could be anything she wanted to
be in life. Who knew after hearing and seeing so much tragedy she experienced during those times,
her favorite teacher would say something so powerful. After her dreams of being in the red army was
shattered because of her family s past. Before that, Ji Li had lost hope. Hearing that lifted her spirits
and made her believe that she was a great student and will be that person she could ever dream of

Raising The Bar By Trey Parker And Matt Stone
35.7 percent of the United States population is considered to be obese. With such a large number like
this its no wonder that South Park has made at least one episode shining their satirical light on this
issue. The episode Raising the Bar, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, does exactly that. Like that
South Park episode Radley Balko focuses on the issue of obesity in the article What You Eat Is Your
Business, where he takes a point opposite of his title. South Park supports and proves Balko argument
by showing the weight of obesity on insurance companies, the government, the public. While South
Park may over dramatize obesity with its crude humor, it does help those understand the issue if one
can understand the overall message and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

[grabs a box and reads it] Candy Corn Oreos. Oreos with candy corn filling. [closes his eyes and looks

all?? [an obese man and an obese woman squeeze past each other in an aisle on their scooters.] That s

you! In about a year! [turns and follows Stan and Kenny away. Cartman is left alone with the Oreos
and his thoughts(Trey Parker and Matt Stone). Eric later on goes to Kyle s house stating that he
thought about what kyle said and he has decided to take action about his weight. Some will guess that
Eric goes on a diet and decides to loss weight. Those of you that guessed this are wrong. Eric decides
to gain more weight so he in fact will be entitled to a Rascel, the motorized wheelchairs in the show,
that his insurance paid for. What South Park portrays counters the suggestion made in the article by
Balko. Balko makes the points of rewarding a healthy choice but in South Park the opposite is done.

When the names Carnagie, Rockefeller, and Pullman come to mind, most of us automatically think of
what we saw or read in our history books: These men were kind and generous and through hard work
and perseverance, any one of you could become a success story like them, right? Wrong. I am sick of
these people being remembered for the two or three good deeds they have done. Publicity and media
have exaggerated the generosity of these men, the government has spoiled these names with false lies,
and people have been blind to see that these men were ruthless, sly businessmen who were motivated
by your money and their struggle for power.

Rockefeller. A picture in my history book shows a group of people watching an old Rockefeller crouch
over to accept a flower from a little girl. The caption reads John D. Rockefeller, American industrialist
and philanthropist, is caught doing one of his good deeds.
No wonder that only a handful of people can t distinguish that this old man was a crock and deserves
to rot in hell! With all this positive media attention, the public had been fed lies! In real life, this
money hungry, greedy villain is the prime reason why the Sherman Antitrust Act was passed.
Rockefeller s dream was to monopolize the oiling industry, and he so successfully did. Because of his
great empire (the Standard Oil Co.) and the wealth it brought, when any other competitor tried even to
step foot into the oiling industry, Rockefeller dropped his prices until the rookie industry was forced
out. After he ! regained monopoly, he then jacked up the prices. Sure, the people were mad, but what
could they do? Many other industries depended on the oil that Rockefeller provided and besides, the
Sherman Antitrust Act couldn t be enforced with these big businesses growing larger and larger.
He donated over 2500 libraries worldwide, he helped establish the famous concert hall in New York,
and he helped finance several colleges in the US. Can you guess who he is? Yes! Andrew Carnagie.

Heart Of Darkness Figurative Language Essay
The wicked accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the ways of justice. (ESV Prov. 17:23). Man will take
anything if it can result in something positive. In the novel, Heart of Darkness, leaving civilization can
lead to depravity, furthermore creating corruption amongst the company in the Congo. Throughout the
novel, depravity is a key element in people and the company, constructing exploitation. In Conrad s
novel, he uses the literary elements of figurative language, symbolism, and Biblical allusions to
demonstrate the theme of human depravity when removed from civilization. The literary element of
figurative language is used to help create a better picture for the reader and provide a better
understanding of the novel. One of the literary elements used in Heart of Darkness is the appearance
of characters and setting. Conrad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The depravity of the company shows the Biblical allusion of how the mind dictates how we live
according to the mind and/or flesh. The men in the Congo collecting all of the ivory are living
according the mind by living in the moment and not what the end result could be. Heart of Darkness
also displays Biblically that the men of the Company are living between light and darkness. . . . too
dull even to know you are being assaulted by the powers of darkness. (Conrad 45). Darkness hovers
over the Congo and what the Company has brought to it. The men evidently have no idea how they re
living and what is actually taking place around them other than the fact that they are gaining ivory.
They are bestowing upon the flesh and not remaining aware of what is taking place around them. For
those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. . . (ESV Rom. 8:5). All
of the depravity of what is taking place in the Congo is causing the Company to live according to the
flesh rather than the

Argumentative Essay On Excessive Screen Time
Lately, the issue of excessive screen time is becoming increasingly important in pediatrics, and it has
become a major risk factor for many chronic conditions such as vision impairment, obesity, and
altercations to social behavior. While many parents realize that excessive screen time is harmful,
children are still spending eight to ten hours on their electronic devices. Not many parents realize that
proper regulation is also needed to keep their child safe from health risks. According to the National
Heart, Blood and Lung Institute, 28 percent of parents set TV watching rules, 30 percent set rules
about video game use, and 36 percent of parents set rules about computer use ( Reduce Screen Time ,
2013). This is a problem because 60 percent of children are constantly stumbling upon explicit content
every year, and their behavior shifts more negatively and aggressively (Lunsford, 510). I believe that
too much screen time can pose much harm to a child s health and well being. If we don t find ways to
limit excessive screen time than children will face many consequences that will ultimately harm them
as they grow older.
Screen time is any time spent using an electronic device such as a computer, T.V, phone, or video
game console. Many statistics have shown that an average adult spends nearly eight hours of screen
time a day while children spend eight to ten hours a day (Lunsford, 513). Comparing the two pieces of
data, children spend more time on electronics than many adults do,

The Queens Visit
The Queens Visit
The dungeon was a miserable place. Light was scarce and flickered from the torches bolted to the
cobblestone walls. Foul smelling water dripped inside from the moat circling the palace above. Large
rats chased each other across the floor searching for food. This was no place for a queen.
It was just past midnight and all was quiet except for the occasional movement of a chain. Through the
heavy silence, a single set of footsteps echoed throughout the halls as someone climbed down the
spiral steps into the dungeon.
A young woman emerged down the steps dressed head to toe in a long emerald cloak. She cautiously
made her way past the row of cells, sparking the interest of the prisoners inside. With every step she
took, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Are you sure you want to go in there, Your Highness? the guard said. There s no telling what she s

I must see her, the women says. At any cost.
The guard began turning a large circular lever and the bars of the cell rose. The women took a deep
breath and continued past them.
She journeyed through a longer darker hallway where a series of bars and barriers were raised and
then lowered after she walked past them. Finally, she reached the end of the hall, the last set of bars
were raised and she stepped into the cell.
The prisoner was a woman. She sat on a stool in the center of the cell and stared up at a small window
that was covered with dirt. The prisoner waited a few moments before acknowledging the visitor
behind her. It wasn t the first visiter she has ever had, and she knew who it was without looking. There
was only one person it could be.
Hello, Snow White, the prisoner said softly.
Hello, Stepmother, Snow White replied with a nervous quiver. I hope you well.

Mediterranean Diet Research Papers
The Mediterranean diet is one that offers seniors many satisfying foods options along with the
following five health benefits:
Improves Digestion
It s crucial that a senior maintains and keeps a smooth and regular digestive system. Foods rich in
fiber like fruits, vegetables and nuts will help keep their digestion from slowing down. Fiber rich
foods are often highlighted in the frequency chart of the Mediterranean diet and will help a senior
correct any digestion irregularities.
Boost Brain Function
A study published in Neurology observed 674 people who were close to 80 years old. They took a
survey of their eating habits over the years. Those who ate a diet like the Mediterranean diet with low
amounts of saturated fats and plenty of fish had more white and gray matter in their brain, which
meant their brains were much younger and functioned more effectively than those who didn t follow

Theories Of Origin Of Species By Charles Darwin
The ancient thinkers based their understanding of psychology on a philosophical hypothesis. While
the ancient philosophers like Hobbes, Plato, Schopenhauer and the rest could describe and predict the
different behaviors and mental experiences, none of them could explain the reason behind the
particular behaviors. Charles Darwin with his ideas in the Origin of Species gave a new dimension to
the understanding of human and animal behavior and the field of psychology based on the foundation
of his evolutionary theory (Buss, (2009)).
Charles Darwin theories on life sciences and relation to psychology
The theories of evolution and natural selection proposed by Charles Darwin in his book Origin of
Species are considered to be one of the most important theories in the study of life sciences (Angell,
(n.d.)). Through his theories on evolution, Charles Darwin introduced the idea of a common ancestor
monkey from which the animals and human beings were descended. He proposed the idea that all of
the living beings or creatures on the planet earth had a singular or common set of genes (Darwin,
(1859)). From this theory, he developed the idea that all living beings had a common physical
appearance which could be grouped under the umbrella of comparative psychology (Frances, (2013)).
Darwin studied the human psychology in great detail and analyzed and interpreted the individual
differences which set an individual apart from the other humans despite the fact that they share the
same genetic constitution. This helped in understanding the similarities and the differences in the
behaviors of the human beings (Angell, (n.d.)). He introduced the ideas about the complexity of the
human nature which helped the scientists and psychologists in placing each individual separately and
apart from each other. Based on these theories and findings of Charles Darwin many scientists could
put together their assessments and evaluations about the science of human behavior. This helped the
scientists to expand their range of study in the field of human emotions, interactions, and social
communication and led to the development of evolutionary psychology (Frances, (2013)).
With the theories of Natural Selection and Sexual Selection proposed by

Introduction to Soccer Essay
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United
States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates
back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to
a global pastime, including men s and women s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four
years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern
version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking
and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the
English call soccer). Around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight yards
apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for
protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special
padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation
Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width
of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The
referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a
kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it
down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent s goal. If the ball is kicked off the
field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw in, where the ball is thrown over the
player s head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the
field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the
field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on
the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. If a goal is scored, the ball is taken back to the

Planetary Nebulae Clouds
Nebula or the plural nebulae is derived from the Latin word for cloud(s), and is a term traditionally
used by astronomers to describe the vast gaseous structures which exist throughout the universe.
Nebulae now have been divided into five major categories due to their reflective and observational
characteristics, these being emission nebulae, reflection nebulae, dark nebulae, supernova remnants
and planetary nebulae.
In fact, the term planetary nebula is a misnomer as they have nothing to do with planets or planetary
systems as the name was derived by eighteenth century astronomers, William Herschel et al, who due
to the restrictions of observational technology available at that time i.e. small telescopes first thought
they either looked like the gas giant planets of our solar system or stars forming new planetary
systems.
Planetary nebulae are often given the connotation PN or PNe for the plural by astronomers and exhibit
the final stage of a star s life whose initial size is approximately between 1 and 8 solar masses, where
the unused gases and elements left from nuclear fusion are blown away from the remaining core
producing a luminous colourful halo around it. These phenomena can be very short lived in
astronomical terms, possibly just tens of thousands of years.

Personal Narrative-I Ve Ever Done Anything To Help Me
You haven t done anything to help me. What help? All you have ever done is hurt me. When we were
dating, when we were married and when we were divorced. All you have ever done is verbally,
emotionally, physically and financially abuse me for 30 years. You have called me every name in the
book. You have slapped me, chocked me, kicked me, drag me across the floor, hit me, threaten to kill
me, beat me over the head with hairbrush and I had to crawl out of the house, stalk me. You have
thrown bottles at me, remote controls, tables, coke cans, Tupperware dishes when I was pregnant with
Lauren I had to change my doctor s appointment because I had a huge red welt on my stomach from
the Tupperware dish you threw at me. You say you care about me, you tell everyone how much care
and how you would never hurt me but it s all a lie. What are you doing now and have been doing? All
you ve ever done is to convince everyone to be against me. Which is what abusers do they try to make

Iroquois Religion And Beliefs
To make sense of this world, you must possess your own viewpoints, perspectives, or beliefs because
every individual is different. Some people ask, why do we exist on Earth? Others ask, Is there
intelligent life in our solar system? No matter what religion or belief you have, no one will really
know the true answer to this question. Many people wonder about the creation of our world or how it
started because it is the place we live in. It is so mass and divergent, so it sparks curiosity in all of our
minds. The Iroquois are a Native American tribe that resided in what is now New York. This tribe had
many different beliefs on how the world was created. The Iroquois believed in the sky world, the only

The Accomplishments Of Julius Caesar
What was Julius and Augustus status as a soldier and their military accomplishments? How did they
obtained their titles as dictators and emperors? Julius Caesar and Caesar Augustus were both great
military leaders, having many military accomplishments. Both worked hard to become the dictators
and emperors they were.
Julius Caesar started as a military tribune making ready to become a Consul. One of the world s most
vital military pioneers was regularly acquainted with a senatorial, patrician family and was the nephew
of another observed Roman general, Marius. Julius military accomplishments were that he was known
never to have lost ever a single war. These were extraordinary triumphs that legitimated the
consolidation the Gaul as part of the Roman Empire, increasing the geographical reaches of Rome to
the Atlantic Ocean. The Roman invasion of Britain in 55 B.C. was moreover one of the genuine
achievements of Julius Caesar
Augustus military accomplishments were that he was part of Caesar s military expedition to Spain to
destroy the offspring of Pompey, his vanquished foe. They were endeavoring to carry on their father s
rivalry with Caesar. Augustus was inspecting and engaging military planning in Apollonia, Illyria.
Rejecting the urging of some of his officers to take refuge with the troops in Macedonia, he traveled to
Italia to discover whether he had any potential political fortunes or security. Antony and Augustus then
sent 28 armed forces by means of sea to

New Horizons And Its Mission
New Horizons and Its Mission
The New Horizons space probe is an interesting piece of technology. We ve sent this probe into the
depths of space, farther than any other probe has traveled. This probe survived the asteroid belt, is
surviving the Kuiper belt, and it was able to complete it s mission. We know more about Pluto now
than we ever have. New Horizons will continue to explore space and send us discoveries that it has
made.
NASA uses a variety of rockets for every launch. The rocket New Horizons uses is the Atlas V 551.
This rocket is part of the Atlas V400/500 family, which is operated by the United Launch Alliance.

The Atlas V 551 also has 5 Aerojet Solid Rocket Boosters to add extra thrust power to the launch. The
boosters burn for 94 seconds and they are all rigged to go off in sequence; with 1 and 2 set to go first
and 3, 4, and 5 to follow after a second and a half. Each of the boosters are 20 meters in height, 1.58
meters in diameter, and 5,740 kilograms of inert mass (Spaceflight).
An Interstage Adapter is used to connect the parts of the rocket with different diameters. There are two
types; the Cylindrical Interstage Adapter (0.32 meters in height, 3.83 meters in diameter, and 285
kilograms) and the C ISAAdapter (3.81 meters in height, 3.83 meters in diameter, and 2,212
kilograms) (Spaceflight).
The Centaur Upper Stage is 12.68 meters in length, 3.05 meters in diameter and has an inert mass of
2,243 kilograms. This part has a single engine and also uses liquid oxygen and kerosene to propell the
probe (Spaceflight).
Finally, at the top of thr rocket is the Payload Fairing. This part keeps the spacecraft safe against the
harsh enviroments that the whole rocket experiences when it begins to leave the atmosphere. There are
three different PLF lengths; the shortest one is 20.7 meters long, the medium one is 23.4 meters long,
and the largest one is 26.4 meters long (Spaceflight).
The spacecraft itself is about the size and mass of a piano. Currently, it s travelling at a breakneck
speed of 14 kilometers per second (Munroe). These incredibly

Women s Rights And Feminist Movements
Although often iconized as a time of industrial and political revolution the 20th Century provided an
equally important platform for social revolution. During this era countless social movements emerged,
notably so the women s rights and feminist movements. Tremendous gains were made for women
throughout the century s span, from suffrage, to equal pay, and the availability of contraceptives. One
of the most complex feminist movements of the 20th century followed the period s most tumultuous
event: World War II. While under occupation by the United States the Japanese feminist movement
flourished and the lives of Japanese women changed dramatically. The feminism of this period, from
the end of the war to the end of occupation, has been studied by numerous historians and is mentioned
in most literature concerning occupation. The leading scholars of occupation feminism have
approached and presented the topic in three distinctly different ways: several focus on cultural
changes, others emphasize the movement s deep historical roots, and some criticize the period as
flawed feminism. The loss of World War II was a catalyst for cultural change within Japan.
Occupation and the subsequent influx of American ideals and culture influenced the changes that
occurred in Japanese women s lives. John Dower, a retired MIT professor of Japanese history, reflects
on these cultural changes in his work Embracing Defeat: Japan in the Wake of World War II .

Musical Analysis Of Dae Jig Geum
History Essay
Title: Dae Jang Geum: Beyond the screen
Brief Introduction:
Dae Jang Geum was a popular Korean drama series (2003) that focused on a girl who was orphaned at
a young age. She entered the palace at a tender age, serving as a kitchen apprentice before rising to
become the King s personal physician. Utilising the skills that she picked up as a chef and as a
medical nurse, she was able to diagnose and cure the various illnesses that had plagued the King
throughout the series. The rise of a prominent female figure in a Choson dynasty was heralded a
miracle, as women held little influence and power compared in a society dominated widely by men.
This essay would focus primarily on a music pieces utilised widely throughout the drama series. Close
connections would be drawn from the melody, harmony and the instruments used. This would then be
compared to the Korean culture that was seen during the late 19th to the early 20th century of the
Chosun Dynasty.

lyrical passage, probably to simulate a soloist section, showcasing the various skills of the players.
The A section then once more repeats back at the 3:31 to the end. The embellishments included a

Korean folk songs and dances. The usage of dotted rhythm particularly at 3:31 3:35 has given the

European Imperialism Africa Dbq
Africa was imperialized in the 1880s. Before imperialism, African countries socially had thousands of
different tribes, nations, cultures and languages. Africa was also economically active before
imperialism by having complex trade. Europeans imperialized Africa to spread Christianity, abolition
of slavery, their beliefs in cultural and racial superiority and to open new markets. Europeans also
wanted Africa s natural resources like their ivory, gold, rubber, diamonds, fruit minerals, palm oil and
others. Europeans imperialized Africa by cooperating with local leaders, taking advantage of African
conflicts and because they had more weapons than Africa. The effects of European imperialism on
Africa were socially negative and economically negative. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was written in Rhodesia in the 1890s for the people interested in learning about life under
European rule. This was a primary source because the author was the leader of his people during this
time and so he got to experience the ways the British took away the power of his people first hand.
This document shows that the effects of imperialism were negative for Africa because the British took
away their land and animals. Another example of how the effects of imperialism were economically
negative is on document #4. document #4 was written by Elinor Burns who was a British writer and
Marxist (fought for the rights of workers). He wrote this in West Africa, 1927 for the people interested
in British imperialism in West Africa and said that food supplies that were grown in colonies made a

the British for them to sell. This documents shows how the effects of imperialism were negative

Corset Research Paper
A tummy tuck isn t designed to get rid of lots of body weight but rather to tighten up the midsection.
Some of the reasons for having a stretched out belly region includes pregnancy, rapid weight loss, and
aging. The older a person gets, the harder it is for his or her tissue to snap back into place after it s
been stretched out. Skin has quite a bit of elasticity when we re younger but gradually loses that
capability over time. After it s been stretched, as in a pregnancy, sometimes it just stays that way long
after the baby has been born. Not only does the external skin of the midsection become saggy but the
inner corset of connective tissue gets pulled out of shape as well. That inner corset is designed to hold

Social Stigmas Of Asian Parenting
Social Stigmas of Asian Parenting are True
Just walking through the courtyard of Brigham Young University, you are surrounded by outstanding,
intelligent students who were leaders in their communities and are firm in their faith. Students hail
from all four corners of the world from the diverse United States to blissful Asia; yet, only 1.4% of
BYU students are of Asian ethnicity. The Asian population may be small at the university; but, Asian
stereotypes continue to permeate all forms of media coloring our perception of our classmates from
the East. Have you ever wondered why are they so smart at math? How do all of them know how to
play the piano? Why does receiving anything less than an A grade brew feelings of failure? Many
Asians attribute these stereotypes to their upbringing and parents expectations. In The Wall Street
Journal article Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior , Amy Chua presented her viewpoint that the Asian
parenting style to raise successful children outranks the Western ideals for parenting. But, are Asians
really more superior than Westerners at parenting? Through personal vignettes and poignant diction,
Chua builds logos, pathos, and ethos to write a convincing article on how Asian parenting styles are
effective. So what is like being an Asian parent?
Chua, a first generation Asian American, establishes the readers trust by consistently using stories
from her personal life, ranging from her own mother calling her garbage and then her American
friends

Falling from the Cliff
1. Falling from the cliff
1.1 Case Study
On April 1, 2007, a 48 year old woman was killed after plunging 50 meters from a cliff while hiking
on the rugged Lion Rock. She planned to climb over Lion Rock along an unnamed path with 2 people.
However, they got lost along the path. So, the woman climbed upward along a rough cliff to try to find
a way out. Unfortunately, she sipped and fell 50 meters down the cliff. She suffered severe injuries
and lost consciousness. Later, she was declared dead in hospital. [1]
1.2 Possible causes
For hikers, they may need to bear part of the responsibility to protect themselves. Some hikers may
neglect the danger while hiking.
Firstly, some people may walk too close to the edge that they may accidentally fall down when they
are careless or step on little rocks.
Secondly, some people may wear unsuitable shoes while hiking, like high heels and slippers. These
kinds of shoes cannot prevent slippery and cannot protect their foot if accidents happen.
Thirdly, some hikers may play along the road and accidentally push the other down the edge. Also,
some hikers would walk together hand in hand. In case one of them lose balance, all of them may fall
down.
Also, the rocks and roads may not in good conditions and cause the hikers to fall down when hikers
step on them.
Firstly, some mountain trails do not have any protective measures, like rails or barbed wire fence, on
the edge. If the road is narrow, hikers will have no choice other than

I personally was not as excited about this piece as I hoped. I like louder and more exciting music that
changes from soft to loud and has a more upbeat tempo. The second piece preformed was, Sedona by
Steven Reineke. I really like this piece a lot. It reminds me of Christmas and happy times. I like how
in the beginning the piece starts off softer, but you can still hear all the different instruments playing
their part. The tone of the flutes is very beautiful to listen to and I really enjoyed how the piece slowed
down to really enhance that sound. Overall, I really enjoyed this piece and it was very well played.
The next piece played was, Salvation is created by Pavel Tschesnokoff and Bruce Houseknecht. This
piece starts off soft but then you hear the Timpani which brings in a louder sound to the piece. This
piece has a very slow tempo which was hard for me to keep my focus on. When I listen to this piece

again. Overall, I had a harder time concentrating but I didn t mind it. The next piece played was,

Genetic Modification Research Paper
I am writing to you to explain the problems concerning genetic modification in humans. The field of
genetics has come so far in the past decade, and there are currently efforts being made to correct
autosomal recessive diseases, such as Hemophilia B.1 I agree that being able to cure diseases, like
Hemophilia, is important, but it also means that scientists would be able to create designer humans.
The concept of designer genes in human modification reinforces the idea that there is an ideal human
which is both ableist and catered strictly to upper class individuals. In this letter, I am expressing my
opinion that while advances in genetic engineering are being made, it is important to remember that
science should not progress to the point that we are removing all imperfections. ... Show more content

Scanning magazine headlines, words like toned, tanned, and tall are constant reminder of
imperfections that we possess. Following these words are usually recommendations how to achieve
these seemingly perfect and ideal body goals. These magazine articles and headlines usually create a
lot of self esteem issues in people regardless of age or gender. In a study conducted by Daniel Clay et
al., 136 girls from the United Kingdom were exposed to images of ultra thin or average size magazine
models.2 It was found that these girls, after being shown said models, had a lowered body satisfaction
and, consequently, self esteem. Seeing how people are unsatisfied with their bodies, it might be said
that the solution to this issue would be to help people out and edit the genes that encode for these
imperfections. As stated before, this would cause issues because gene modification would be ableist
and cater solely for the

Aladdin Analysis
For our Youth The late comedian Ralphie May once satirically portrayed a Muslim as the new boogie
man, and that ... One of them stinky, unibrow S.O.B. will show up right behind you with a big a**
turbine, beard, genie bottle in one hand, magic carpet in the other, dynamite belt, last thing you ll
smell is couscous, camel hump, and diesel fuel, Boom! Then he blows you up, (I reiterate, this was
100% satirical, and his morals did parallel with that of a progressive) during a stand up bit where
deconstructing racism was the central concept, and albeit May is no scholar by any extent, his
message is clear; the portrayal of the Middle East is one sided, that is, an image created by the West,
for the West. This portrayal sees no limit, and as one will see, goes as far as the American film
industry manipulating the youth in movies such as Aladdin. Aladdin is a cultural production about a
young man, Aladdin, who endures the malicious vizier, Jafar, while attempting to win the heart of
Princess Jasmine. In this work, I will discuss the orientalist portrayal, the source of knowledge, the
effects of American exceptionalism in Aladdin . This will be done by reviewing the symbols in the
film that represent the Middle East. In the film Aladdin, the portrayal of the Middle East specifically
India is that it is a ... far away place ... where they cut off your ear, if they don t like your face. The
producers were essentially attempting to create the image of a barbaric society that lacked any good
ethics or morals. This orientalist approach by the producers to portray the Middle East, was on par
with an extremely biased news source. For example, other than cutting off your ear, there is a scene
where Jasmine was nearly subject to the common punishment of hand amputation. If one were to view
another movie about a Disney princess a similar case would be hard to find. Also, in the beginning of
the film, the thief Gazeem, tells Jafar that he had to slit a few throats to get him what he needed. As if
it were normal, Jafar has no response. This scene, along with many others, is an attempt to convey the
barbaric society that the producers want. Now, the goal of this analysis is not to critique, but it should

The Struggle for Nuclear Power
Nuke em The struggle for nuclear power has been a problem since the dawn of the nuclear age.
Governments continue to use the threat of a nuclear attack as a deterrent. However, small terrorist
groups may not feel threatened by a nuclear attack due to their mobility. Thus, the question remains;
are nuclear weapons a necessary safety, or a danger. The solution is therefore to observe the pros and
cons of nuclear capabilities, and to look at some precautions that can be taken to help protect people.
The benefits of having nuclear weapons may not be quite as obvious as some of the downfalls of
having such capabilities. The entire purpose of nuclear weapons is to act as a deterrent the countries

As long as the plug and the cylinder and the plug are separated, nothing happens. Both parts quietly
emit a small amount of radiation, however, neither of the two pieces has enough mass to cause a
serious reaction. Some Uranium atoms are reacting and producing radiation, but there are not any
other atoms that are close enough for a chain reaction to start. However, when the two pieces are
brought together, a violent reaction occurs. This happens because there is such a high density of
Uranium that when one atom reacts it causes another atom to react and this sets off a chain reaction
(Dr. Donald Nye). In a nuclear generator rods of Uranium, that are producing radiation, are inserted
into giant tanks of water, the reaction occurring by the proximity of the Uranium atoms causes the
rods to generate heat, this in turn heats the water producing steam. The steam is the used to push a
turban, or something else to create work, which in turn gives us energy. There are also certain safety
measures put in place in case of an emergency to help keep the Uranium from reaching critical mass.
The fact that the rods are in water is mainly what keeps the explosion from happening and not as much
Uranium is used. If there is an emergency lead panels will drop between the rods preventing the
reaction from continuing to occur and cold water is pumped into the tanks

  • 2. AIALS Case Study As early as the 1980s, schools were using AIALS as learning tools in the classroom, albeit on a much smaller scale. An artificially intelligent assessment learning system designed for success is user centered and addresses user relevant issues at all stages in whatever form is appropriate (Dillon, 1994, p. 19). Hung et al. (2015) supported this phenomenon by indicating that when a system is well designed, its users can navigate it easily, use its features and tools efficiently and respond appropriately to the demands of the systems. Hence, a well designed AIALS is aligned accordingly with usability principles, and with features and tools to enhance learning performance for users. Generally, AIALS consists of four modules: an interface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These dimensions are considered the fundamental user requirements for defining the functionalities of a good user interface, hence according to the ISO 9241 210 standard, usability is the measurement of how a product is used to accomplish specific tasks with effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction within a prescribed environment (Kaasinen et al., 2015). According to Chughtai et al. (2015) usability takes into account the ease of use and learnability a system, including simple navigation for average users. Nielsen (1994) posited that usability is a significant factor of interface design in order to ensure a user friendly system, Kodavali and Blessing (2011) also suggested that usability is an important factor when designing intelligent learning systems. Similarly, recent studies on usability testing of an AIALS revealed that there is a direct positive relationship between usability and learning effectiveness (Lin et al., 2014). Consequently, without a good user interface design, the goal/s of the system may not be realized. The integration of usability principles in the design and development of AIALS is important, involving a user centered focus approach to increase the overall effectiveness of learning systems (Hung et al., 2015). User Experience (UX) The ISO 9241 210 defined user experience (UX) as a person s perceptions and responses resulting from the use and/or anticipated use of a product, system or service . The user experience includes both the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Application Of A Distributed Agricultural Sensor Network Abstract As the world s population continues to grow, new agricultural technologies will be needed to keep up with the growing demand. To accomplish this, agricultural systems must increase production while at the same time more effectively utilizing and conserving the resources that go into that production. One possible solution is the collection and analysis of environmental data. IoT sensor networks can cheaply provide distributed data that can be used to improve plant health, increase harvest yields, and decrease waste. The primary focus of this project will be to prototype a distributed agricultural sensor network that will be able to monitor the environment, network and analyze the data on the cloud, and finally provide feedback to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an active area of IoT research and will be the primary focus of this project. If data can be effectively gathered, networked, and analyzed, then that data can then be used to impart real and significant change on the environment. For agricultural systems this will result in improved plant health, increased harvest yields, and decreased waste. A. Background One of the most utilized and standardized IoT stacks is the IEEE 802.11.4, 6LoWPAN, RPL, and CoAP stack. The IoT stack layers are similar to OSI and they share many of the same abstraction layer divisions. These similarities assist with the interoperability of IoT protocols with those of the Internet. The IEEE802.15.4 protocol defines the physical and link layers of stack. These layers define how data is modulated onto the channel, how the channel is shared between multiple users, as well as the low level packet checks and retransmissions. IEEE802.15.4 operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band using Quadrature Phase Shift Keying with additional Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum encoding. This allows the radio to better reject noise and other interference. IEEE802.15.4 utilizes 16, 5MHz channels in order to generate a data throughput of 250kbps. The maximum payload size is 127 Bytes [1]. Compared to WiFi, the data rate and maximum packet size is significantly less. These characteristics are the result of the limited hardware used for ... • 5. Raising The Bar By Trey Parker And Matt Stone 35.7 percent of the United States population is considered to be obese. With such a large number like this its no wonder that South Park has made at least one episode shining their satirical light on this issue. The episode Raising the Bar, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, does exactly that. Like that South Park episode Radley Balko focuses on the issue of obesity in the article What You Eat Is Your Business, where he takes a point opposite of his title. South Park supports and proves Balko argument by showing the weight of obesity on insurance companies, the government, the public. The Robber Barons Essay The Robber Barons When the names Carnagie, Rockefeller, and Pullman come to mind, most of us automatically think of what we saw or read in our history books: These men were kind and generous and through hard work and perseverance, any one of you could become a success story like them, right? Wrong. I am sick of these people being remembered for the two or three good deeds they have done. Publicity and media have exaggerated the generosity of these men, the government has spoiled these names with false lies, and people have been blind to see that these men were ruthless, sly businessmen who were motivated by your money and their struggle for power. A picture in my history book shows a group of people watching an old Rockefeller crouch over to accept a flower from a little girl. The caption reads John D. Rockefeller, American industrialist and philanthropist, is caught doing one of his good deeds. No wonder that only a handful of people can t distinguish that this old man was a crock and deserves to rot in hell! With all this positive media attention, the public had been fed lies! In real life, this money hungry, greedy villain is the prime reason why the Sherman Antitrust Act was passed. Rockefeller s dream was to monopolize the oiling industry, and he so successfully did. Because of his great empire (the Standard Oil Co.) and the wealth it brought, when any other competitor tried even to step foot into the oiling industry, Rockefeller dropped his prices until the rookie industry was forced out. After he ! regained monopoly, he then jacked up the prices. Sure, the people were mad, but what could they do? Many other industries depended on the oil that Rockefeller provided and besides, the Sherman Antitrust Act couldn t be enforced with these big businesses growing larger and larger. He donated over 2500 libraries worldwide, he helped establish the famous concert hall in New York, and he helped finance several colleges in the US. Can you guess who he is? Yes! Andrew Carnagie. • 7. Heart Of Darkness Figurative Language Essay The wicked accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the ways of justice. (ESV Prov. 17:23). Man will take anything if it can result in something positive. In the novel, Heart of Darkness, leaving civilization can lead to depravity, furthermore creating corruption amongst the company in the Congo. Throughout the novel, depravity is a key element in people and the company, constructing exploitation. In Conrad s novel, he uses the literary elements of figurative language, symbolism, and Biblical allusions to demonstrate the theme of human depravity when removed from civilization. The literary element of figurative language is used to help create a better picture for the reader and provide a better understanding of the novel. One of the literary elements used in Heart of Darkness is the appearance of characters and setting. Conrad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The depravity of the company shows the Biblical allusion of how the mind dictates how we live according to the mind and/or flesh. The men in the Congo collecting all of the ivory are living according the mind by living in the moment and not what the end result could be. Heart of Darkness also displays Biblically that the men of the Company are living between light and darkness. . . . too dull even to know you are being assaulted by the powers of darkness. (Conrad 45). Darkness hovers over the Congo and what the Company has brought to it. The men evidently have no idea how they re living and what is actually taking place around them other than the fact that they are gaining ivory. They are bestowing upon the flesh and not remaining aware of what is taking place around them. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. . . • 8. Argumentative Essay On Excessive Screen Time Lately, the issue of excessive screen time is becoming increasingly important in pediatrics, and it has become a major risk factor for many chronic conditions such as vision impairment, obesity, and altercations to social behavior. While many parents realize that excessive screen time is harmful, children are still spending eight to ten hours on their electronic devices. Not many parents realize that proper regulation is also needed to keep their child safe from health risks. According to the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute, 28 percent of parents set TV watching rules, 30 percent set rules about video game use, and 36 percent of parents set rules about computer use ( Reduce Screen Time , 2013). This is a problem because 60 percent of children are constantly stumbling upon explicit content every year, and their behavior shifts more negatively and aggressively (Lunsford, 510). I believe that too much screen time can pose much harm to a child s health and well being. If we don t find ways to limit excessive screen time than children will face many consequences that will ultimately harm them as they grow older. Screen time is any time spent using an electronic device such as a computer, T.V, phone, or video game console. Many statistics have shown that an average adult spends nearly eight hours of screen time a day while children spend eight to ten hours a day (Lunsford, 513). Comparing the two pieces of data, children spend more time on electronics than many adults do, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Foul smelling water dripped inside from the moat circling the palace above. Large rats chased each other across the floor searching for food. This was no place for a queen. It was just past midnight and all was quiet except for the occasional movement of a chain. Through the heavy silence, a single set of footsteps echoed throughout the halls as someone climbed down the spiral steps into the dungeon. Are you sure you want to go in there, Your Highness? the guard said. There s no telling what she s capable of. I must see her, the women says. At any cost. She journeyed through a longer darker hallway where a series of bars and barriers were raised and then lowered after she walked past them. Finally, she reached the end of the hall, the last set of bars were raised and she stepped into the cell. The prisoner was a woman. • 11. Theories Of Origin Of Species By Charles Darwin The ancient thinkers based their understanding of psychology on a philosophical hypothesis. While the ancient philosophers like Hobbes, Plato, Schopenhauer and the rest could describe and predict the different behaviors and mental experiences, none of them could explain the reason behind the particular behaviors. Charles Darwin with his ideas in the Origin of Species gave a new dimension to the understanding of human and animal behavior and the field of psychology based on the foundation of his evolutionary theory (Buss, (2009)). Charles Darwin theories on life sciences and relation to psychology The theories of evolution and natural selection proposed by Charles Darwin in his book Origin of Species are considered to be one of the most important theories in the study of life sciences (Angell, (n.d.)). Through his theories on evolution, Charles Darwin introduced the idea of a common ancestor monkey from which the animals and human beings were descended. He proposed the idea that all of the living beings or creatures on the planet earth had a singular or common set of genes (Darwin, (1859)). From this theory, he developed the idea that all living beings had a common physical appearance which could be grouped under the umbrella of comparative psychology (Frances, (2013)). Darwin studied the human psychology in great detail and analyzed and interpreted the individual differences which set an individual apart from the other humans despite the fact that they share the same genetic constitution. This helped in understanding the similarities and the differences in the behaviors of the human beings (Angell, (n.d.)). He introduced the ideas about the complexity of the human nature which helped the scientists and psychologists in placing each individual separately and apart from each other. Based on these theories and findings of Charles Darwin many scientists could put together their assessments and evaluations about the science of human behavior. This helped the scientists to expand their range of study in the field of human emotions, interactions, and social communication and led to the development of evolutionary psychology (Frances, (2013)). • 15. Introduction to Soccer Essay Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men s and women s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the English call soccer). Around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight yards apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent s goal. If the ball is kicked off the field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw in, where the ball is thrown over the player s head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. • 18. Planetary Nebulae Clouds Nebula or the plural nebulae is derived from the Latin word for cloud(s), and is a term traditionally used by astronomers to describe the vast gaseous structures which exist throughout the universe. Nebulae now have been divided into five major categories due to their reflective and observational characteristics, these being emission nebulae, reflection nebulae, dark nebulae, supernova remnants and planetary nebulae. In fact, the term planetary nebula is a misnomer as they have nothing to do with planets or planetary systems as the name was derived by eighteenth century astronomers, William Herschel et al, who due to the restrictions of observational technology available at that time i.e. small telescopes first thought they either looked like the gas giant planets of our solar system or stars forming new planetary systems. Planetary nebulae are often given the connotation PN or PNe for the plural by astronomers and exhibit the final stage of a star s life whose initial size is approximately between 1 and 8 solar masses, where the unused gases and elements left from nuclear fusion are blown away from the remaining core producing a luminous colourful halo around it. These phenomena can be very short lived in astronomical terms, possibly just tens of thousands of years. During this era countless social movements emerged, notably so the women s rights and feminist movements. Tremendous gains were made for women throughout the century s span, from suffrage, to equal pay, and the availability of contraceptives. One of the most complex feminist movements of the 20th century followed the period s most tumultuous event: World War II. The feminism of this period, from the end of the war to the end of occupation, has been studied by numerous historians and is mentioned in most literature concerning occupation. The leading scholars of occupation feminism have approached and presented the topic in three distinctly different ways: several focus on cultural changes, others emphasize the movement s deep historical roots, and some criticize the period as flawed feminism. The loss of World War II was a catalyst for cultural change within Japan. The next piece played was, Salvation is created by Pavel Tschesnokoff and Bruce Houseknecht. This piece starts off soft but then you hear the Timpani which brings in a louder sound to the piece. This piece has a very slow tempo which was hard for me to keep my focus on. When I listen to this piece and I hear the Timpani, I think of something exciting happening and then it goes back to being normal again. Overall, I had a harder time concentrating but I didn t mind it. The next piece played was, Kentucky 1800 by Clare Grundman. This piece started off with a louder sound ... • 31. Genetic Modification Research Paper I am writing to you to explain the problems concerning genetic modification in humans. The field of genetics has come so far in the past decade, and there are currently efforts being made to correct autosomal recessive diseases, such as Hemophilia B.1 I agree that being able to cure diseases, like Hemophilia, is important, but it also means that scientists would be able to create designer humans. The concept of designer genes in human modification reinforces the idea that there is an ideal human which is both ableist and catered strictly to upper class individuals. In this letter, I am expressing my opinion that while advances in genetic engineering are being made, it is important to remember that science should not progress to the point that we are removing all imperfections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scanning magazine headlines, words like toned, tanned, and tall are constant reminder of imperfections that we possess. Following these words are usually recommendations how to achieve these seemingly perfect and ideal body goals. These magazine articles and headlines usually create a lot of self esteem issues in people regardless of age or gender. In a study conducted by Daniel Clay et al., 136 girls from the United Kingdom were exposed to images of ultra thin or average size magazine models.2 It was found that these girls, after being shown said models, had a lowered body satisfaction and, consequently, self esteem. Seeing how people are unsatisfied with their bodies, it might be said that the solution to this issue would be to help people out and edit the genes that encode for these imperfections. As stated before, this would cause issues because gene modification would be ableist and cater solely for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Aladdin Analysis For our Youth The late comedian Ralphie May once satirically portrayed a Muslim as the new boogie man, and that ... One of them stinky, unibrow S.O.B. will show up right behind you with a big a** turbine, beard, genie bottle in one hand, magic carpet in the other, dynamite belt, last thing you ll smell is couscous, camel hump, and diesel fuel, Boom! Then he blows you up, (I reiterate, this was 100% satirical, and his morals did parallel with that of a progressive) during a stand up bit where deconstructing racism was the central concept, and albeit May is no scholar by any extent, his message is clear; the portrayal of the Middle East is one sided, that is, an image created by the West, for the West. This portrayal sees no limit, and as one will see, goes as far as the American film industry manipulating the youth in movies such as Aladdin. Aladdin is a cultural production about a young man, Aladdin, who endures the malicious vizier, Jafar, while attempting to win the heart of Princess Jasmine. In this work, I will discuss the orientalist portrayal, the source of knowledge, the effects of American exceptionalism in Aladdin . This will be done by reviewing the symbols in the film that represent the Middle East. In the film Aladdin, the portrayal of the Middle East specifically India is that it is a ... far away place ... where they cut off your ear, if they don t like your face. The producers were essentially attempting to create the image of a barbaric society that lacked any good ethics or morals. This orientalist approach by the producers to portray the Middle East, was on par with an extremely biased news source. For example, other than cutting off your ear, there is a scene where Jasmine was nearly subject to the common punishment of hand amputation. If one were to view another movie about a Disney princess a similar case would be hard to find. Also, in the beginning of the film, the thief Gazeem, tells Jafar that he had to slit a few throats to get him what he needed. As if it were normal, Jafar has no response. This scene, along with many others, is an attempt to convey the barbaric society that the producers want. Now, the goal of this analysis is not to critique, but it should be ... • 34. The Struggle for Nuclear Power Nuke em The struggle for nuclear power has been a problem since the dawn of the nuclear age. Governments continue to use the threat of a nuclear attack as a deterrent. However, small terrorist groups may not feel threatened by a nuclear attack due to their mobility. Thus, the question remains; are nuclear weapons a necessary safety, or a danger. The solution is therefore to observe the pros and cons of nuclear capabilities, and to look at some precautions that can be taken to help protect people. The benefits of having nuclear weapons may not be quite as obvious as some of the downfalls of having such capabilities. The entire purpose of nuclear weapons is to act as a deterrent the countries possess these weapons but hope to never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As long as the plug and the cylinder and the plug are separated, nothing happens. Both parts quietly emit a small amount of radiation, however, neither of the two pieces has enough mass to cause a serious reaction. Some Uranium atoms are reacting and producing radiation, but there are not any other atoms that are close enough for a chain reaction to start. However, when the two pieces are brought together, a violent reaction occurs. This happens because there is such a high density of Uranium that when one atom reacts it causes another atom to react and this sets off a chain reaction (Dr. Donald Nye). In a nuclear generator rods of Uranium, that are producing radiation, are inserted into giant tanks of water, the reaction occurring by the proximity of the Uranium atoms causes the rods to generate heat, this in turn heats the water producing steam. The steam is the used to push a turban, or something else to create work, which in turn gives us energy. There are also certain safety measures put in place in case of an emergency to help keep the Uranium from reaching critical mass. The fact that the rods are in water is mainly what keeps the explosion from happening and not as much Uranium is used. If there is an emergency lead panels will drop between the rods preventing the reaction from continuing to occur and cold water is pumped into the tanks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
