Compare And Contrast The Count Of Foix And Betrayal De...
Throughout the chaotic times of the medieval period rebellions took place all across Europe as
peasants rose up against the nobility. Jean Froissart documents one french rebellion during the the
14th century in his work Chronicles. Once the King of Navarre took power, peasants from Brie,
Laonnois, and Soissons assembled in Beauvoisin. They had no leader, but were determined to fight
back against tyrannical nobility of France. The oppressed peasants wanted to destroy the knights
and the squires of the French realm for using their power and prestige against the common man.
With little armour and poor weaponry the peasants began to attack nearby castles, slaying the
knights who dwelled there and violating the wives and daughters. Castles and estates were left in
ruins as the peasants burned them down and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Count of Foix and Captal de Buch safely reached the two duchesses and paid their respects,
but the villeins alongside Jacques were on the move and ready to attack. A brilliant plan to destroy
the villeins was orchestrated by the Count and the Captal de Buch. Around 9000 peasants from the
county of Valois joined the attack on Meaux and prepared to slaughter the remaining nobles. The
Count and Captal de Buch were smarter though and trapped the poorly armed peasants inside the
market place. Although the peasants outnumbered the knights, their weaponry and tactics were
much weaker and the disorganized peasants were overrun by the nobles and began to fall over
each other as they helplessly retreated. The nobles began to persecute the peasant on by one until
they were all driven out of Meaux. After the nobles set fire to the mutinous city of Meaux , the
dead rebels were thrown into the River Marne. The remaining rebellious peasants were exterminated
and the assemblies of Jacques immediately

How Did Religion Affect The Renaissance
The inquisition was introduced after Dominicans and Franciscans became a power in the
church. During this period heretics were burned and their lands were ruined. The turks
conquered the Eastern Empire and its capital in Constantinople. The church in St. Sophia was
made Muslim and the cross on its dome was replaced with the crescent. Changes in form of
worship, doctrine, the church s mission were also made. Lollards were the disciples of Wycliffe.
They helped to spread the word of Wycliffe all over England after his death. They acknowledged
the Bible as the only form of doctrine and denounced the popes and their clergy. As the followers
of Wycliffe grew the opposition of the clergy also grew. The bishops ended up getting a law passed

very different from the Albigenses but however both were considered heretics. Waldenses would
remember large parts of the Old Testament and go around preaching. They only used the Lord s

The Critical Path of Rock Fest
Project management is one of the key tools that Hard Rock CafГ© uses to plan. Hard Rock s
Vice President, Chris Tomasso states there is no way to keep so many people on the same page.
Over 100,000 fans attend the Rock Fest. It is not easy to plan an event like this one within the 9
month time frame in which Tomasso must use. The challenge is staying on track. This is done by
using a MS project chart. Managers rely on project management techniques and software to
maintain schedule and budget performance.
Before beginning the project management process, you have to identify the most important ... Show

Performance should be monitored. The overall standard by which the project manager will be
evaluated would enable the project to be completed on schedule and within the cost that were
outlined before the project began. I would crash A, P, and Y because it would reduce the
completion time just in case there are any unexpected delays.
Projects are unique because it is a one time operation designed to accomplish a set of objectives in
a limited time frame. They all involve planning, preparation, and coordinating work that is to be
done. Priorities must be set in order for the project to be accomplished. Project management
techniques and software is necessary to maintain a schedule and budget performance. Project
Management is the set of knowledge, skills, and abilities that plan, organize, implement, control,
and complete projects given finite resources of people, equipment, and time.

Analysis Of Wells Fargo And William Fargo
History
In the year eighteen fifty two, two men by the names of Henry Wells and William Fargo chose to
establish a monetary administrations organization that we particularly know today to be Wells
Fargo (Wells Fargo, 2017), which actually is quite significant. Before establishing the organization,
Mr. Wells and Mr. Fargo chose to ground their organization in five standards which generally
turned into their five very essential esteems. Their first standard being individuals as an aggressive
esteem which implies an association with a colleague will literally prompt a definitely superior
association with the clients, or so they particularly thought. Second morals Wells Fargoprides its

The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay
The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the green knight s wife plays a pivotal role in the story. Yet,
she is never given a name and it is unclear what motivates her actions. She could simply be
following her husband s orders to seduce this visiting knight. She could be under the tutelage of
Morgan le Fay. Or she may be acting under her own guidance and using her sexuality to carry out
her own desires or gain power. In light of this uncertainty, the unnamed wife s role in the bedroom
scene is also hard to decipher. As a woman she should be submissive, and yet it is Gawain who is
forced to defend himself against her advances to which he eventually submits. The multiple

She also refers to Gawain as, my captive knight . This suggests that Gawain is in the submissive
position, which is not typically how a powerful, male knight is perceived. Oddly enough, this is
the case in medieval society. The lord is the master and the knight pledges loyalty to the lord and
his lady. In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this
problemitizes the typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to
command, to kiss when you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight.
His social role as a knight causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert
control over Gawain while still appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and
gender roles.
However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further
complicated when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. If she is merely following his
orders and offering her body to whom ever he commands, then she is undoubtedly submissive.
Clearly the wife s actions are in line with her husband s plans. In the end he tells Gawain, And the
wooing of my wife it was all my scheme! Despite this fact, it is uncertain wheatear the wife is
forced to join

CEO Compensation Paper
The purpose of this research article is to examine the relationship between CEO compensation and
patient satisfaction in non profit hospitals throughout Ontario, Canada. The study aims to identify
the possibility of a correlation between these two variables via the investigation of three key
research questions: (1) Does CEO compensation affect patient satisfaction? (2) Does CEO
compensation play a mediating role between patient satisfaction and hospitalsize? (3) Other than
CEO compensation, what factors impact patient satisfaction? Through the guidance of these
questions and the analysis of the research conducted to answer them, the study provides a basis for
further research in an area of healthcare that has not yet been explored.... Show more content on

The first database provided a sample of hospital CEO compensations throughout Ontario.
Considering it only depicted employee salaries that were $100,000 or above, the sample was
restricted to salaries equal to or above this value. The performance data was drawn from the
Hospital Report Research Collaborative: Acute Care for Three Years. The sample purposely
used acute care hospitals of varying sizes over a time span of three years (2005, 2006, 2007).
This data was then combined with the corresponding hospital s CEO compensation for each of the
previous years. Salaries of CEOs were intentionally looked at from the prior year since changes
implemented by the CEO and their impact on performance measurements would follow thereafter.
Overall, the study consisted of 261 CEO hospital year observations in a sample of 103 acute care
nonprofit hospitals. The control variables for the study were year fixed effects, whether CEOs
manage one or multiple hospital sites, hospital size/type (teaching, community, small), and clinical

Franklin D. Roosevelt s National Industrial Recovery Act...
President Franklin D. Roosevelt s New Deal was a package of economic programs that were
made and proposed from 1933 up to 1936. The goals of the package were to give relief to farmers,
reform to business and finance, and recovery to the economy during the Great Depression. Among
many other new acts to help give recovery to the economy, the NIRA was born. The National
Industrial Recovery Act(NIRA) was created by Roosevelt to see to the needs of industry, trade
unions, and even the consumer, promoting cooperation among corporations while also establishing
codes for fair competition between industries. Most importantly, the purpose of the NIRA was the
put people back to work and fight the Great Depression. As Roosevelt saw it, the NIRA... Show

The previously mentioned codes dealing with minimum work hours, wages, and labor
conditions were also not working out. Those codes would not become a part of work and labor
laws until later in history. Another section of these codes dealt with fair competition. All sorts of
codes were created just dealing with fair competition, but they would not apply to antitrust laws.
Antitrust laws were laws made to reduce competition between companies and prevent
monopolies from forming (National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933). Since these codes did not
apply to antitrust laws it basically gave businesses the opportunity to create monopolies. After
monopolies were created, it had raised the prices on goods and services. That is certainly not the
best thing for an economy, and to add more fuel to the fire deflation was also a major problem
during this time. Deflation is the lowering of the price of goods and services. These higher
prices were made on purpose to allow people like farmers to prosper. Their theory of higher
prices equals more prosperity failed miserably and made the economy just stop. The prices ended
up being too high, and that did absolutely nothing for the economy or the people (National
Industrial Recovery Act (1933)). Another reason the NIRA wasn t all too successful in the thirties
was the lack of support it had from businesses. Larger business had given their support to the NIRA,
although smaller businesses did

The Rental Car Company Is Laying The Foundation For...
6 1 Data Model Assignment: DAT 500 15TW1 The rental car company is laying the foundation
for building a relational database and is already deep within the design phase of the SDLC.
Developing enterprise data models will ensure the business requirements are being met and in the
long run, spell success for the enterprise. The two entity relationship diagrams the rental car
company has established are 1) a Conceptual data model and 2) a Logical data model. Using the
process of building these foundational models, the rental car company can then move on to the
physical model and complete the database. The first data model, the conceptual model, is basically
the skeleton or the foundational framing for how the rental car company can develop the concepts
(also known as entities) that are most important to the organization. Within the conceptual model,
there are a limited number of components. In this current stage of the development there are only
entities and relationships, descriptive characteristics (or attributes) come later. Here the focus is on
entities and the organization can narrow down what takes top priority. Those four concepts
mentioned in the model are at the foundation and a requirement for tracking the profitability and
efficiency of the branch and its employees. Branch, Sales, Vehicle and Employees are prime
examples of entities and one can easily draw relationships and business rules between them.
Relationships are often described with verbs and can confirm

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Comparison
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream was
originally written by Hunter S. Thompson in 1971. This classic novel showcases a stoned
sportswriter, Raoul Duke, who also refers to his own ego as Dr. Gonzo . Duke travels to Las
Vegas with his fellow Samoan attorney to cover a motorcycle race on the outskirts of Las Vegas
called the Mint 400. After a series of reckless events, Raoul and his companion finally make their
way to the city. Once there, they find themselves stirring up a great deal of trouble and receive a
heap of public attention due to their erratic, drug induced behaviors. The novel intrigued readers so

Nevertheless, it seems as if Gilliam s focus was more on entertaining his audiences through the
characters comical annotations and side effects of the hallucinogens rather than illustrating
Thompson s own idea of the American Dream.
While there were a few key differences between the book and film editions of Fear and Loathing in
Las Vegas, as mentioned previously, the film shares mostly similarities with Thompson s
original novel. In fact, the entire first half of the movie remains remarkably faithful to the book
s plot. Most of the differences in Gilliam s film mentioned earlier occurred around the second
half of the movie after Raoul and his attorney had made their way across the long route in the
desert. The location, the description of the setting, additional characters, drugs, and the car used
in the initial scenes were all identical to those in the novel. For example, the drugs that Duke and
his attorney were using in the book consisted of ether, blotter acid, marijuana ( grass ), cocaine,
mescaline, amyl, and prescription pills; these same drugs were used by the characters in Gilliam s
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well.
Likewise, the lines spoken by the characters in Terry Gilliam s film were almost matching to those
in Thompson s original Fear and Loathing

Fracking And The Natural Gas Production
Fracking isn t a word that most people are familiar with unless they are well informed or active in
local government or natural gas extraction. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, involves extracting
natural gas from shale formations underground (Collier, Galatas, Harrelson Stephens, 2008). During
the process known as fracking, millions of gallons of water are shot underground into shale
formations to help bring the natural gastrapped inside the formations to be released so that it can
surface and become available for extraction. This is the technique that is used for traditional
fracking methods. Although fracking increases the states natural gas production, it also carries
some negative side effects that are affecting the state and its people. When most people think of
Texasthey think of the booming oil industry that the state has. According to our textbook, Texas
accounts for almost one third of the country s natural gas production and holds almost almost a
quarter of the country s natural gas reserves. Texas has greatly invested in the recourses that are
found within the state which makes gives the state a huge economic advantage. When fracking is
used to help turn out even larger quantities of natural gas, the economic impact is huge. If the state
greatly invested in fracking sites and the use of both traditional and horizontal fracking, the
economic gain in the near future could be huge. The state could be turning out twice the amount of
natural gas as it is

Paleolithic Research Paper
The picture of the Paleolithic life reveals that this was a prehistoric era known as the Stone Age
era. The discovery made by Chauvet, Lascaux, and other archeologist signifies that there was life
on earth over millions of years ago. Paleolithic people depicted art on the cave walls as a way to
communicate and tell the history of their existence. However, Paleolithicpeople not only used the
cave as a canvas, but also as their living quarters. Paleolithic people were the first inventors of art.
The murals created by hand stencils and finger tracing is an indication of early phases of the
Paleolithic era. The depiction of animals on the cave walls were an indication of the latter phase
of the Paleolithic era. Evidence of the rare findings of the Pecten (a large shell) with black coal

Powers of the United States Congress as Established by the...
The United States Congress was established by the Constitution to be the legislature branch of the
Government as distinguished from the executive branch which is headed by the President and the
judiciary. The system is organized in order for each of the branches to act as a check and balance
on each of the other branches (Moyers, 1987). This check and balance nature of the system often
results in creating friction between the branches but this was precisely the purpose behind the
Founding Fathers setting the system up in this manner. The theory was that this would diminish the
possibility of any one branch becoming too powerful in relation to the other branches. Congress,
like the other two branches of the U.S. government, is limited to exercising only the powers
specifically granted the Constitution. The powers granted Congress are enumerated in several
different locations in the Constitution but the majority of its powers are set forth in Article I. The
first of Congress enumerated powers is its authority to regulate commerce among the several states.
Since first being addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark case of Gibbons v. Ogden
(Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824) the power of Congress to engage itself in the operation of interstate
commerce has been expanded, over time, to the point where Congress power to regulate commerce
now includes any activities that substantially affects interstate commerce. One of Congress most
significant powers is the authority

The Bystander Effect Is The Main Cause Of The Problem
There has always been chaos around the world, but it is different when the one in charge of a
country, like the President, is the main cause of the problem. However, the chaos keeps
occurring due to the fact that people who are seeing the problem occur do not do anything to
help stop the issue; this could also be referred to as, the bystander effect. The bystander effect is
when a group of people or just one person is seeing a problem take place, yet does nothing about it
other than keep quiet and watch. When the bystander effect occurs, things could get to a level
where the problem is uncontrollable, an example of this is the Holocaust. Even though this was a

The Deaf Boy By Mark Drolsbaugh Essay
Mark Drolsbaugh spent the better part of his childhood trapped in between two worlds, neither of
which he felt at ease. Transitioning from hearing to deaf and everything it involves, Mr.
Drolsbaugh has certainly seen it all. Deaf Again focuses predominantly on the story of a deaf boy,
attempting to conform to the lifestyle that was comfortable for everyone else surrounding him; to a
shameless, culturally Deaf man sharing his experiences and viewpoints with the nation.
Drolsbaugh discusses heavy topics such as education, acceptance, awareness, and self
perseverance. He goes on to give his opinions and ideas on cochlear implants, how to raise a deaf
child, and fusing the two communities (Deaf and hearing).
Learning a new language can be hard, especially when it is not the language spoken by the majority
of your friends and family. But, being raised by deaf parents with many hearing influences, what is
that like? Drolsbaugh talks about the struggles he faced throughout primary school and how always
being the only deaf boy in the room made him feel like an elephant, no less. I m sure anyone
would feel that way if they were challenged to follow a conversation without their ears. Although
he was hard of hearing for some time, the residual hearing that was left allowed Drolsbaugh to
play the fake it till you make it game. But, that did not always work, especially when a teacher

serving to further man s understanding of the holocaust.
By categorizing the two movies, Night and Fog and Schindler s List, together we are able to
better analyze and contrast the two similar yet different sources. First off, both these sources can
be deemed accountable because they use more than one source. The documentary, Night and Fog,
uses two different survivors of the holocaust as well as various other sources. Schindler s List also
relied on more than one person s account of the situation to write the movie s script. This is unlike
the sources such as Return to Auschwitz, written by the first hand account of Kitty Hart , and
Night, written by Elie Wiesel who also had first hand experiences , that depend on one person s
account or report of the situation to tell the story. However, the written work isn t used for
entertainment purposes, like Schindler s List is, and therefore is less likely to be changed to draw
attention or gain financially. Schindler s List is a famous movie used to

The Banning Of The Lottery In The United States
The history of the lottery began some fifty plus years ago where before then it was banned in every
state in America. After state governments decided it was partly their responsibility to protect
citizens from the dangers of gambling, they found it to be their duty to govern the lottery. New
Hampshire established the first state lottery in 1964, it then soon spread throughout the northeast.
All the states between Maryland and Maine had a lottery, by 1978. Lotteries went west in the
1980s, adding 18 more states from Virginia to California. The southern states held out the longest.
In the 1990s, only three southern states authorized lotteries and five more in the 2000s. Today 44
states promote and operate lotteries with Wyoming being the last

Comparing Second And Third Wave Feminism
Second and Third Wave Feminism: A Comparison Feminism is defined as the push for women s
rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. It is broken up into three
waves; the first occurring in the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the second being the 60 s to
the late 80 s, and finally the third which began in the 90 s and is currently where we are at today.
Many significant advancements since the first wave of feminism, and many changes were made to
the feminism movement throughout the years. When comparing the second and third waves of
feminism, issues such as equal pay for equal work, maintaining a job and still being able to have a
family, or not having a family if you don t feel like it, are all common topics within the feminist
movement.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main issues at hand included sexuality, workplace, family, and reproductive rights. Common
misconceptions of this wave include the idea that this time [was thought of] as offensive, outdated
and obsessed with the middle class white women s problems. When in fact this was not the case,
many of the women involved with feminism were also a part of the Black Civil Rights Movement,
Anti Vietnam Movement, Chicano Rights Movement, Gay and Lesbian Movement and many more
that were all fighting for the same result; equality. The reasoning behind why feminism seemed
more popular when compared to other movements was because many women felt that their voices
were not being heard and felt that in order to gain respect in co ed organizations they first needed
to address gender equality concerns. Second Wave feminism s main ideas and movements include,
securing the right to have an abortion, getting daycare, putting women in positions of political
power, breaking the stigma around rape and sexual abuse, using birth control, and much

Reanimated Chickens And Zombies
Most of the time when you think of the word zombie, you think of a walking corpse that will eat
your face as soon as it gets the chance. What if we thought of zombies as an animal that is
brought back from the dead? Well, in that case, zombies have been around for a while. According
to David Casarett, author of Reanimated Chickens and Zombie Dogs, for over two hundred years,
scientist have pushed relentlessly at life s terminus, trying to find new ways to bring people back
from the dead when their hearts stop. There are many scientist that even grew famous for these

World War Two And Its Effect On The World
World War Two
World War Two began in 1939 and it when for six year, World War Two lasted until both the
Germans and the Japanese had surrendered in 1945, which was six years after it began. It began
in September 1939 when Britain and France declared war on Germany after Germany had invaded
Poland. January 1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and he immediately he secretly
built up Germany s army and weapons. In 1934 he made the size of the army bigger and he
began to build warships and he created a German air force. Britain and France were aware of
Germany preparing for war but they were concerned about the rise of Communism and they
thought that if Germany was stronger, it might prevent the spread of Communism. In 1936
German troops entered Rhineland, they weren t very strong at this point and they couldn t of
been defeated easily by France or England but neither of them were prepared for war. Germany s
next step was to take back the land that was originally theirs and in March 1938 German troops
moved into Austria, the Austrian leader was forced to hold a vote to see if Austria wanted to be
apart of Germany. The voting results shows that were fixed and 99% of people wanted to be in
union with Germany. Austria looked for help from France and Britain and hitter promised that it
was the last of Germany spreading because he didn t want war. Hitler lied and in March 1939

Religion In John Portier s The Dead Man Walking
Whether we agree with religious people or their critics or simply don t know, the near universal

People are always intrigued by religion. Even if people do not have a faith or religion, they are
intrigued about the power of religionand are searching for answers. Portier defined religion in
terms of life s greatest questions. People are always questioning the supernatural. The definition

downfall that Joey had was in the beginning he was not into questioning his religion at all and he

Mercurial guitarist Mark Whitfield got the jazz world s attention during the 90 s, when the NY

to the organist Jack McDuff.
Mark not only has collaborated with jazz legends such as Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Brown,
Stanley Turrentine, Ray Charles, and Jimmy Smith, but also with recent stars like Sting, Chris

Summaries of Books on Central America
*Andrien, Kenneth J. Andean Worlds: Indigenous History, Culture, and Consciousness under
Spanish Rule, 1532 1825. Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 2001.
Andrien s book is a historical summary of the Andean region from native people to after the Spanish
conquest. It addresses economy, culture, and the importance of religion, as well as power structures.
There is an emphasis on the continued existence of indigenous culture despite Spanish involvement
for hundreds of years.
The book is important in situating the context in which Rose of Lima lived and the native
traditions that would have influenced her and her family. Andrien s book can be used in
understanding the historical events that led up to Spanish rule and the importance of Catholicism
and the power it held over the native people and how it was used to establish Spanish control.

Hippocrates On The Sacred Disease Summary
The passage On the Sacred Disease, is an examination into the alleged sacred disease of epilepsy.
Although many of the anatomic and bodily propositions were incorrect, Hippocrates concepts were
closer to the diagnostics and teachings of today than those of metaphysical reasoning. For these
reasons, On the Sacred Disease provided a structural understanding of diseases in our bodies today.
Hippocratesmain concepts are derived from the fact that this disease originates from a natural
cause. He states , Men regard its nature and cause as divine from ignorance and wonder...this
notion of divinity is kept up by their inability to comprehend it (33 35). It was this sacred disease
of epilepsy that people used to connect with divine interference. Divine stimulation was never in
form of a sickness or disease. These people were under the idea that sickness was not a sole
presence, but rather an ailment that affects the human body and is sent by divinities. Therefore
people did little to treat the affected, but rather tried to appease the so called divine powers that
sent the disease. In fact, the epileptic attacks were often referred to different gods depending on the
symptoms such as Poseidon, Ares, Apollo, and Hecate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using Peer Tutoring And Peer Assistance
Introduction
After taking the survey, I now realize I wish I was doing more differentiated instruction in my
classroom. I chose a lot of somewhat agrees and that means that I sometimes implement
differentiation but not always. Reading through all of the questions really had my thinking on
how I use them in my classroom. For example: one of the questions I had trouble with was: I
make frequent use of peer tutoring and peer assistance in my classroom. I do not do any of that in
my music classroom. I could try and have students help me hand out instruments or papers when we
use them. Peer tutoring is what I struggled with the most and know for a fact that I do not use that
in my teaching. I could however, when teaching quarter and ... Show more content on

I will sometimes jot down by their name on the seating chart who needs help with what. Doing
more formal assessments is a must in my classroom. One example of a formal assessment that I
did this past year was teaching the second graders the song Rocky Mountain. Once the song was
memorized the students would come to the front of the room and sing Rocky Mountain for
everyone to hear and I would grade them on their singing ability; if all words were memorized,
sang each note on the correct pitch and if they sang in the correct key throughout. I found this to
be very helpful with their personalities and interests because I found out who really liked singing
and who did not really enjoy it. I also found out who was shy and who was more outgoing. This
helped me prepare some of lessons for the next few times and I knew who I could call on to sing
for everyone. Another strength that I have is helping students set individual learning goals. I
recently helped a student who usually has a hard time concentrating and staying on task create a
GPAR (Goal Plan, Action and Result), to help him get through his classes more focused. It worked
very well and the student got a great result and therefore I know I will be doing this more next year
to help a lot more students become successful.

The Vocabulary Test By Kathleen T. Williams
Published in 2007 by Kathleen T. Williams, in conjunction with Pearson Assessment, the
Expressive Vocabulary Test, Second Edition (EVT 2) is considered an individually
administered, norm referenced vocabulary assessment (Williams, 2007). The EVT 2 is the
second edition of the original Expressive Vocabulary Test by Kathleen T. Williams. As the
updated version of the original Expressive Vocabulary Test, the EVT 2 includes new features
such as a second, parallel form for examiners to test and retest to monitor growth and evaluate
response to intervention, full color illustrations that are larger than the illustrations of its
predecessor, additional labeling items for a smoother transition into the synonym task and
provide a broader sampling of vocabulary for older examinees (Williams, 2007). According to
the publisher, the EVT 2 is available for various settings, however, currently it is only available
in the English language (Williams, 2007). In order to accommodate for those who may have
special needs (i.e., the hearing or vision impaired), the EVT 2 manual provides suggested
adaptations that will allow that population to participate in the assessment. In order to access the
complete EVT 2 kit for assessment purposes, it will cost the purchaser USD $419 if they choose
to purchase through the Pearson publishing company. This complete kit includes the manual,
administration easels, 25 record forms for Form A and B, as well as a carrying bag (Williams,

Heat Movie Analysis
Don t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if
you feel the heat around the corner. Robert De Niro s famous line playing the criminal Niel
McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann s Heat. Mann is able to have high octane action one
would expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The
combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues
that it doesn t belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heatmemorable. Mann creates the
intimacy in a number of ways: through types of shots such as close ups and zoom ins, the score
and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows
among others. The utilization of close ups and zoom ins allows the audience to get to know the
characters. It shows the wear and tear on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we re
able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes.
Michael Mann wants the audience to become as close to the characters as possible. We are
introduced to Al Pacinoduring a sex scene, that s about as intimate as the character to audience
relationship can get. The intimacy is at an all time high during the coffee shop scene in which the
previously mentioned quote is taken from. Roger Ebert (1995) stated, The scene concentrates on

Smith states that hegemony, is the ability of the state and the ruling class to regulate beliefs within
a society. Hegemonic beliefs are dominant cultural motifs which reinforce inequality and which
short circuit attempts at critical thinking (Smith, 36). The fountain was a way to enforce and
allude to the creeds of the Pope and the Catholic Church. In this sense, it is obvious that works of
art are a large part of culture and cultural identification. The fountain became a part of history, not
only because it is still standing, but also because of the cultural significance seen in the various
symbols, material and stories behind the different parts of the fountain. While culture is an
ambiguous and debatable term, it is commonly understood and agreed that arts developed by
societies define a large part of a culture. There are several socio cultural functions of art, including
being a record of history, contributing to the transmission or propaganda of ideology or beliefs, and
allowing for further cultural change. Works of art and artifacts are transcendent in nature of
theories and ideology, and therefore, cannot be fully analyzed objectively through the theories used.

Federalism In Australia Summary
In the article, Federalism in Australian Constitutional interpretation: signs of reinvigoration? ,
Chordia and Lynch explore the constitutional interpretative approach used by the majority in
Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd (1920). The article discusses the
key factors in the majority s decision in Engineers that disadvantaged the states by significantly
increasing the power of the Commonwealth.
Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was anticipated by the
framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will eventually cancel the other one
out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision in Engineers and is explored using the
historical evidence of the framers intentions, the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s
critique of the Engineers decision. Chordia and Lynch argue that the majorities decision in
Engineers focused on responsible government, while completely ignoring the principles of
Federalism. This is evident in the delivery of the majorities decision, declaring that the two

should only function within situations that directly involve an interference between the
commonwealth and the states. In particular, this third argument corresponds with the nationalist

Persuasive Essay On Football
Specific purpose: To convince my audience to back the move to hold the FIFA World Cup 2022 in
Qatar.
Central idea: FIFA is focused on bringing people together and break down barriers, therefore,
despite the many controversies concerning the ability of Qatar holding the games, it is a great idea
as it will help in promoting cohesion.
Introduction
According to FIFA (2014), its mandate is to develop football in every part of the world and for all
the people. The association turns the accomplishment of the FIFA World Cupinto football
expansion and restructuring its assets to the international football community. Also, it is dedicated
to capitalizing in the global football progress. FIFA World Cup 2022 has been met with a lot of
controversies, especially, after the announcement that the games will be held in Qatar. Mainly,
countries and human rights organizations have expressed their concerns on the issue (Gibson,
2014). Some argue that Qatar offers unsafe environment especially for the many migrant laborers
who are tasked with building infrastructure to host the World Cup. Despite all the arguments, it is
significant to focus on the benefits that the FIFA World Cup 2022 will have in the country and
also on the bid by the federation to promote cohesion globally. FIFA is focused on bringing people
together and break down barriers, therefore, despite the many controversies concerning the ability

Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate?
First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most
convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare
the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several
members of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This
committee sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that
separately are prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise
to later present the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be
delivered by the ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line
of command, and the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises,
but cannot decide. The person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to
inform the mechanism of the budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to
give the macroeconomics information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the
budget, and watch that each part of the company gives their proposals on time. Once the period of
time is established, the committee must listen to the companies expectations and objectives. Then a

Literature Review: The topic of communication is very broad and unique. Communication in its
simplest context is defined as the transfer of information from a sender to a receiver with
recourse of feedback. This involves the use of a medium for transferring information that could
comprise F2F medium: direct voice to ear transfer of information; electronic medias telephones,
computers, radios, televisions, cell phones, faxes, and text messages; or the print media:
newspapers, journals, books, manual written reports, etc. or even the use of signs/sounds: beating
of drums in some African societal settings, sign language used by the deaf and dump. Drum
beating communication was recently seen in a village setting in Liberia, 31 July 2010, during a
visit along a friend aspiring to for the seat or Representative in the Liberian politics. The Head of
the village summoned the villagers from far and nearby beating of drums. One elder I spoke to told
me that when the drum is sounded, they are able to understand the specific purpose of the
summoned gathering by specific beating tones, pitch and style. Communication can be as simple,
yet complex in its use depending on the

Urban Sprawl And New Urbanism
Urban Sprawl and New Urbanism In the modern world, human civilization has seen many changes
from earlier points in our history. In the more developed countries in the world, human civilization
is broken up into two main categories known as Urban Sprawl and New Urbanism . In the
interactive, Urban Sprawl and New Urbanismare broken down into five main branches: Regional
Transportation, Parking, Street Plans, Shops, Civic Buildings, Workplaces, and Residential
Distribution. These branches reflect many of the places that we live in and see every day, and
explains their purpose in depth. Regional Transportation in New Urbanism includes mass transit
that is of easy access to the people that live within the vicinity. The public transportation in New
Urbanism is meant to carry large amounts of people at once such as light rail busses, and
subways in order to get them to their destination quickly to minimize the amount of time it takes
them to get where they need to go since the commutes are fairly short. This also cuts down on
car trips since the busses and subways are within walking distance, and provides people with
more time for family and community life, and can even bring low income workers to suburbs
where there are many jobs. In terms of Urban Sprawl, many businesses, shops, and jobs are not
within a close distance, and as a result, many have to drive themselves to their destinations. A vast
amount of people rely on highways to get to wherever they need to go, and

Analysis Of The Cane Toad Overpopulation
The article explains that several measures were proposed to reduce the cane toad population, and
provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that it would not be easy to get
rid off the cane toad population and several measures taken, but that were unsuccessful, and refutes
each of the author s reasons.
First, the reading posits that national fence reduced the cane toad population. The professor
opposes this point by saying that cane toad would not be controlled by the fence because through
the rivers and steams some of the toad s eggs would establish their community on other side of the
fences. This proves that the Fence would not be effected method to control the cane toad population.
Secondly, the author claims

Horse Slaughter
Horse Slaughter
The topic of horse slaughter doesn t usually come up very often in everyday conversation. Horse
slaughter is more of an implicit subject, which your everyday person doesn t know much about.
Because it is highly controversial, it has gone through the cycle of being banded and then reinstated
twice in the last 5 years. With being involved in the horse industry my entire life, I have witnessed
the effects first hand. Some people see it as killing pets, animal cruelty, and morally wrong.
However, I see it as a source of income, a way to stop the starvation and abuse of horses, an export
industry for the United States, as well as a quality meal for in times of despair. The history of
people eating horse meat dates back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1930 s low supply and high cost of pork and beef made horse meat rise in popularity.
Again during World War II, people were again in the same predicament. Inflation during the early
1970 s raised the cost of traditional meats; Time Magazine reported from Carlson s, a butcher
shop in Westbrook, CT, that they were selling over 6,000 pounds of horse meat a day. (Weil) In
2006, the House of Representatives voted to end horse slaughter; the bill passed to make the killing
and selling American horses for human consumption an illegal practice in the United States.
Today in the US, people do not consume horse meat on a whole sale basis. But because many
other counties do, the exporting of horse meat is a huge industry. When the ban was in place,
US horses were being transported to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered instead. From 2006 to
2010 the increase in horses being exported to Canada and Mexico was 148 and 660 percent.
They are loaded up on trailers and shipped across the boarders, often times going days without
food or water until they reach their destination. The regulations, or lack thereof, are different
than in the US. (Shesgreen) Valley Meat Co. owner Rick De Los Santos brings up valid points
in his interview with NBC News last week. The majority of people, who are against slaughter, are
getting caught up on the ick factor of killing our pets . However, the process is the exact same for
cows and pigs.

Smoking Persuasive Essay
Although smoking is seen as a right of freedom, it has numerous consequences that not only
damage smokers. According to David M. Ludington, Cigarette smoke is the most dangerous of the
toxic elements in our environment. Smoking is responsible for almost 500 000 deaths each year in
the United States (1). For the reason that many citizens are not well informed with the effects of
smoking, the United States has a high death rate per year. The act of smoking in public should be
banned, for it can influence any uninformed individuals to acquire the habit of smoking, which
leads to future health risks. Smoking imposes hazardous health problems to anyone nearby, and
inclusively contributes to various environmental and social problems.
Smoking can cause imminent health issues to all who choose to smoke. Lung cancer, asthma, heart
attacks, and lung diseases are some of the results from smoking. Many do not take this in account
of when attracted to smoking. For this reason, it is unethical for authorities to not fully illegalize
smoking in public. Individuals have the freedom to smoke, yet the government must oversee the
whole impact to the communities. People of all ages are vulnerable to what their naked eye
perceives. If and when innocents desire to smoke, they would have now exposed themselves to a
path of health risks. This course of action is proven to repeat throughout generations as it has been
since American Indians first introduced tobacco to the European settlers. It is

Research Paper On Mardi Gras
Researching Mardi Gras and everything dealing with it has broadened my horizons. I feel a
little ashamed that I never knew the history of Carnival. The most I knew was that I get a week
off of school so I can go to parades and eat king cake. Everything means something and has a
history. The colors, floats, trinkets, cake, balls, etc. all are important to Mardi Gras. Over the
past few weeks, I have learned a lot about Mardi Gras. I have become a walking textbook. I can
spit out almost any little thing about Mardi Gras. I have become less ignorant about my culture
after doing this research paper. It has become harder to find new resources about Mardi Gras
because the information starts to become repetitive. Finding new facts about Carnival history is
hard. Almost every article explains the same things such as when Mardi Gras started, what it
represents, and everything else in between. I tried to use different types of sources but I mainly
used articles from databases and two books. Although it does not seem like a variety of sources
it does not matter because they are credible and most of them are recent articles about Mardi
Gras. One of the books I used was published in 1991. It is dated but not to far... Show more content

colonizador. ВїPorque ellos eran inferiores? Si observamos que tipo de personas los colonizadores
eran; podemos claramente observar que eran individuos pobres quienes querГan encontrar riquezas,
aspectos.

The Roles Of The Social Worker
This assignment will explain the role of the social worker in context of children in need of
safeguarding and protection. This assignment will address theory, law and statutory guidelines of
practice when protecting and safeguarding very vulnerable children and young people. According
to the working together to safeguard children 2010 child protection is a part of safeguarding and
promoting the welfare of children this refers to the activity that is undertaken to protect specific
children who are suffering or likely to suffer from significant harm. Significant harm includes
physical, sexual, emotional abuse as well as neglect and domestic violence. Harm contributes to the
impairment of health and development or ill treatment to another person. The issue can occur due
to personal judgement determining what amount of ill treatment is significant harm.
(www.workingtogetheronline.co.uk) The department of education published the statutory guideline
working together to safeguard children. A guide to inter agency working to safeguard and promote
the welfare of children in March 2013. This replaces several previous documents including initial
and core assessments by the common framework assessment (CAF).
(www.workingtogetheronline.co.uk) The common assessment framework (CAF) can be conducted
by any lead professional; this has subsequently changed the role of the social worker. Family
support in the initially stages is now completed by support workers attached to schools,

Cultural Differences Between Eastern And Western Culture
The cultural differences can cause some problems when people is communicating especially
between Eastern and Western culture because those two cultures are usually considered
completely opposite and the differences that cause the problems can be the different levels of
dignity, different life style and something. And those differences are mainly caused by different
sentiment depends on how they were taught which is more value and what they were seeing
while they were growing up. The different levels of self regard between Eastern and Western
people is considered that one of the biggest difference. Eastern people tend to think they should be
super polite on a person who is older than them or higher status than them even the people put
themselves down to shows respect to others. While, the Western people prefer to have causal
relationship with people who are in a same group. According to a website topyaps.com,
In the Eastern cultures, the leader assumes supreme status. He has a great bearing on the general
public. This comes from the fact that in Eastern culture a technically greater man is often elevated
to God like status irrespective of his worth. While in the Western cultures, the concept of equality
is taken more seriously and a leader is just one among the rest. He is not looked as above and over
the general public. (Dhar, 2013)
Therefore, it is possible that people who from Eastern country and moved to Western country or
from Western country and moved to Eastern country feel weird when they are faced with different
situation that they are not used to. Also, Eastern people is inclined to conceal their feeling
especially when they feel uncomfortable to avoid conflict. They are not good at expressing their
emotions even they hardly express their feelings. But, in the Western societies, it is completely
acceptable to express strong emotions. So, Western people would be good at expressing what they
feel, think and want. An article that written by Paul Nethercott (2015) said
Saving face is a value inherent in the culture of Japan and plays a part in why Japanese do not
show emotion to save face for themselves or the person to whom they are talking. Children are

Why Do Heroes Get Paid For Good Deeds
Heroes should not be paid for or rewarded for the good deeds they have accomplished. The saying
goes, work for a cause, not for applause, right? Sometimes one must humble themselves and be
heroic without expecting to be paid. Even though being a hero is a part of people s jobs and they
get paid for it, does not mean that everyone should be paid. To truly be a heroone can not take
credit for the good deeds they might have done. In some cases, the hero is also the person who
caused the problem. Sometimes being a hero is just a part of a person s job. Doctors get paid for
saving peoples lives but that s only because it s their job. If one were to help someone while in
public, they most likely would not get paid. On occasion they might receive

In Liesel and Ender s lives they both share the pain of leaving someone behind. When Liesel is
found under the rubble of Himmel Street, she is forced to leave behind everything. She left
behind her mama and papa, her best friend, and even the only home she had ever known. She did
not want to leave but there was no one left for her, so she had to move on and continue living.
After Liesel was saved, she saw Rudy on the ground, She did not say goodbye. She was
incapable, and after a few more minutes at his side, she was able to tear herself from the ground.
(Zusak 536). Liesel really did not want to leave but she had no reason to stay. When Colonel
Graff showed up at Ender s house, Ender was about to leave his beloved sister for many years.
Also, he was forced to leave his friends he made from Battle School when he left for Command
School. He was never able to hold a real connection with anyone because of his future.
War is a common theme in both The Book Thief and Ender s Game, it is also apart of our lives in
the world. In The Book Thief, World War 2 was going on. Many people today believe there will
be another World War. Already, people like Liesel are suffering because of war. In Ender s Game,
the human race is fighting against the buggers. Not only, were they fighting against the aliens, but
countries were already plotting against one another. Many people think there s another World War

Manchester United s Economic Impact

Sports Marketing Management
28 February 2013
Introduction
Manchester United is the most valuable sports club to exist so surely the club must make the city
a lot of money every year, right? Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and the most
popular soccer club in the world is Manchester United. There is no denial that Manchester United
has had a huge cultural impact as well as made many social contributions to its locale, but what
about the team s economic impact? Manchester United has influenced the local and regional
economy in many ways, with most of them being exclusively positive. Some of the ways the club ...

Marketing of the city is a very important tool when it comes to this. The question is which role
sports, and more specifically soccer clubs like Manchester United, can play here. Entertainment is
playing a bigger and bigger role in society as the years go by. So, how does the government view
Manchester United in this matter? The government acknowledges the important role Manchester
United plays as a catalyst for marketing of the city. They regard Manchester United mainly as a
publicity channel for the region to attempt to attract tourists, as well as companies to the region.
Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council also uses the presence of Manchester United to further
develop the area around the club. They have a long term vision for the development of Old Trafford,
the team s historic stadium. The role of Manchester United in attracting businesses is very
significant. The club can attract businesses itself but can only do this for businesses that benefit
from the actual matches taking place, such as pubs and hotels. On the other hand, the club
functions as a publicity channel for the region. It draws attention, and is always a good way to start
a conversation. In this way, the club has indirectly made a large contribution to bring businesses
and investments to the region. The brand name is known all over the world and puts

Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Properties of Lunasin
Antioxidant and Anti inflammatory Properties of Lunasin:
Experimental, clinical and epidemiological studies have revealed that chronic inflammation is
involved in the development of approximately 15 20% of malignancies worldwide52, being clearly
associated with increased risk of cancer and cancer progression53. It is believed that persistent
inflammatory cells recruitment, repeated generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), pro
inflammatory mediators and continued proliferation of genomically unstable cells contribute to
neoplasic transformation which ultimately result in tumor invasion and metastasis54.
Determination of anti inflammatory and/or antioxidative properties has been proposed as a good
indicator for screening any anticancerous agents55,56. Oxidative stress and inflammation are two of
the most critical factors implicated in carcinogenesis and other degenerative disorders such as
colon cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases respectively. Hernandez Ledesma and co worker
investigated how lunasin, affect these factors. Lunasin inhibits linoleic acid oxidation and acts as 2,
20 azino bis (3 ethylbenzothiazoline 6 sulfonic acid) (ABTS) diammonium salt radical scavenger.
Furthermore, using Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages, lunasin
reduced the production of ROS by LPS induced macrophages in a significant dose dependent
manner. Lunasin also inhibited the release of pro inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor a

Metro s Budget Scenario
Dennis Anosike, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), provided a financial briefing on Metro s fiscal
year 2018 (FY18) budget. The discussion began with a short recap of the fiscal year 2017
(FY17) budget. In FY17 the budget process was managed by Metro s Board. To balance the
budget, the Board opted to take a series of one time options. This resulted in a balance budgetwith
no fare increases. The GM proposed a 3 billion dollar budget to Metro s Board for FY18. The
Operating budget is 1.8B, and the Capital side of the budget is 1.25B. Compared to last year, the
capital budget is approximately 250 million dollars higher, while the Operating budget is

The GM s budget is designed to address three major areas:reliability; safety; and fiscal
responsibility. Mr. Anosike stated that Metro s Operating budget, includes the following
reductions: 1) reduces staff by 1000 positions; 2) requires that customers contribute more for
services on Metrobus, Metrorail, MetroAccess and parking; 3) and indirectly it impacts
customers because it reduces service. Additionally, the GM s budget directs the jurisdictions to
provide an additional 130M. Together, these things are expected to yield an increase of 290M in
overall funding and aid in balancing the budget. For some time, Metro has experienced low
ridership on Metrobus and Metrorail. This is due to SafeTrack and other issues. Mr. Anosike
reiterated his comments about the development of the FY18 budget. To balance the budget in a
way that would be fair yet the least impactful to customers the GM submitted the Board a balance

Effects Of Social Networking On The Internet
Do you recall your way of living preceding the invention of the Internet? Can you remember how
you drew out necessary information concerning studies, weather patterns, or directions? More
pressing, how did you have access to the where abouts and status of your closest four hundred
friends? While social networking has become an essential tool in modern day life, our
dependence on the Internet has proven itself flawed in that it leads to the increase of adolescences
diagnosed with depression. An ever increasing number of studies has examined this phenomenon
in search of a correlation between social networking and depression in children maturing into
adulthood. According to Guralnik (1984), depression is defined as a psychoneurotic or psychotic
disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, a
significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and
hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies. (p.395). A social network is an online interaction
service which manages to construct communities and connect them with shared interests (Boyd
Ellison, 2007). Social networking sites such as Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter attract millions of
users who have incorporated these networks into their daily practices. Some of these sites cater to
diverse viewers while others integrate people based on similarities such as a shared language or
nationality. Last year, Facebook passed an average of 1.23

  • 2. Compare And Contrast The Count Of Foix And Betrayal De... Throughout the chaotic times of the medieval period rebellions took place all across Europe as peasants rose up against the nobility. Jean Froissart documents one french rebellion during the the 14th century in his work Chronicles. Once the King of Navarre took power, peasants from Brie, Laonnois, and Soissons assembled in Beauvoisin. They had no leader, but were determined to fight back against tyrannical nobility of France. The oppressed peasants wanted to destroy the knights and the squires of the French realm for using their power and prestige against the common man. With little armour and poor weaponry the peasants began to attack nearby castles, slaying the knights who dwelled there and violating the wives and daughters. Castles and estates were left in ruins as the peasants burned them down and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Count of Foix and Captal de Buch safely reached the two duchesses and paid their respects, but the villeins alongside Jacques were on the move and ready to attack. A brilliant plan to destroy the villeins was orchestrated by the Count and the Captal de Buch. Around 9000 peasants from the county of Valois joined the attack on Meaux and prepared to slaughter the remaining nobles. The Count and Captal de Buch were smarter though and trapped the poorly armed peasants inside the market place. Although the peasants outnumbered the knights, their weaponry and tactics were much weaker and the disorganized peasants were overrun by the nobles and began to fall over each other as they helplessly retreated. The nobles began to persecute the peasant on by one until they were all driven out of Meaux. After the nobles set fire to the mutinous city of Meaux , the dead rebels were thrown into the River Marne. The remaining rebellious peasants were exterminated and the assemblies of Jacques immediately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this period heretics were burned and their lands were ruined. The turks conquered the Eastern Empire and its capital in Constantinople. The church in St. Sophia was made Muslim and the cross on its dome was replaced with the crescent. Changes in form of worship, doctrine, the church s mission were also made. Lollards were the disciples of Wycliffe. They helped to spread the word of Wycliffe all over England after his death. The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Essay The Unnamed Wife in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the green knight s wife plays a pivotal role in the story. Yet, she is never given a name and it is unclear what motivates her actions. She could simply be following her husband s orders to seduce this visiting knight. She could be under the tutelage of Morgan le Fay. Or she may be acting under her own guidance and using her sexuality to carry out her own desires or gain power. In light of this uncertainty, the unnamed wife s role in the bedroom scene is also hard to decipher. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also refers to Gawain as, my captive knight . This suggests that Gawain is in the submissive position, which is not typically how a powerful, male knight is perceived. Oddly enough, this is the case in medieval society. The lord is the master and the knight pledges loyalty to the lord and his lady. In this sense the knight is actually in a lower social position than the lady, and this problemitizes the typical gender roles. For instance, Gawain must tell the wife, I am yours to command, to kiss when you please in order to live up to the expectations of a courteous knight. His social role as a knight causes him to submit to this cunning woman. The lady is able to exert control over Gawain while still appearing submissive, because of Gawain s conflicting social and gender roles. However, the gender roles and power relations between the wife and Gawain are further complicated when considering the wife s loyalty to her husband. If she is merely following his orders and offering her body to whom ever he commands, then she is undoubtedly submissive. Clearly the wife s actions are in line with her husband s plans. In the end he tells Gawain, And the wooing of my wife it was all my scheme! Despite this fact, it is uncertain wheatear the wife is forced to join ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The study aims to identify the possibility of a correlation between these two variables via the investigation of three key research questions: (1) Does CEO compensation affect patient satisfaction? (2) Does CEO compensation play a mediating role between patient satisfaction and hospitalsize? (3) Other than CEO compensation, what factors impact patient satisfaction? Through the guidance of these questions and the analysis of the research conducted to answer them, the study provides a basis for further research in an area of healthcare that has not yet been explored.... The sample purposely used acute care hospitals of varying sizes over a time span of three years (2005, 2006, 2007). This data was then combined with the corresponding hospital s CEO compensation for each of the previous years. Salaries of CEOs were intentionally looked at from the prior year since changes implemented by the CEO and their impact on performance measurements would follow thereafter. Overall, the study consisted of 261 CEO hospital year observations in a sample of 103 acute care nonprofit hospitals. The goals of the package were to give relief to farmers, reform to business and finance, and recovery to the economy during the Great Depression. Among many other new acts to help give recovery to the economy, the NIRA was born. The National Industrial Recovery Act(NIRA) was created by Roosevelt to see to the needs of industry, trade unions, and even the consumer, promoting cooperation among corporations while also establishing codes for fair competition between industries. The previously mentioned codes dealing with minimum work hours, wages, and labor conditions were also not working out. Those codes would not become a part of work and labor laws until later in history. Another section of these codes dealt with fair competition. All sorts of codes were created just dealing with fair competition, but they would not apply to antitrust laws. Antitrust laws were laws made to reduce competition between companies and prevent monopolies from forming (National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933). Since these codes did not apply to antitrust laws it basically gave businesses the opportunity to create monopolies. After monopolies were created, it had raised the prices on goods and services. That is certainly not the best thing for an economy, and to add more fuel to the fire deflation was also a major problem during this time. Deflation is the lowering of the price of goods and services. These higher prices were made on purpose to allow people like farmers to prosper. Their theory of higher prices equals more prosperity failed miserably and made the economy just stop. The prices ended up being too high, and that did absolutely nothing for the economy or the people (National Industrial Recovery Act (1933)). Another reason the NIRA wasn t all too successful in the thirties was the lack of support it had from businesses. • 12. The Rental Car Company Is Laying The Foundation For... 6 1 Data Model Assignment: DAT 500 15TW1 The rental car company is laying the foundation for building a relational database and is already deep within the design phase of the SDLC. Developing enterprise data models will ensure the business requirements are being met and in the long run, spell success for the enterprise. The two entity relationship diagrams the rental car company has established are 1) a Conceptual data model and 2) a Logical data model. Using the process of building these foundational models, the rental car company can then move on to the physical model and complete the database. The first data model, the conceptual model, is basically the skeleton or the foundational framing for how the rental car company can develop the concepts (also known as entities) that are most important to the organization. Within the conceptual model, there are a limited number of components. In this current stage of the development there are only entities and relationships, descriptive characteristics (or attributes) come later. • 13. Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Comparison Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream was originally written by Hunter S. Thompson in 1971. This classic novel showcases a stoned sportswriter, Raoul Duke, who also refers to his own ego as Dr. Gonzo . Duke travels to Las Vegas with his fellow Samoan attorney to cover a motorcycle race on the outskirts of Las Vegas called the Mint 400. After a series of reckless events, Raoul and his companion finally make their way to the city. Once there, they find themselves stirring up a great deal of trouble and receive a heap of public attention due to their erratic, drug induced behaviors. Nevertheless, it seems as if Gilliam s focus was more on entertaining his audiences through the characters comical annotations and side effects of the hallucinogens rather than illustrating Thompson s own idea of the American Dream. While there were a few key differences between the book and film editions of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as mentioned previously, the film shares mostly similarities with Thompson s original novel. In fact, the entire first half of the movie remains remarkably faithful to the book s plot. Most of the differences in Gilliam s film mentioned earlier occurred around the second half of the movie after Raoul and his attorney had made their way across the long route in the desert. The location, the description of the setting, additional characters, drugs, and the car used in the initial scenes were all identical to those in the novel. For example, the drugs that Duke and his attorney were using in the book consisted of ether, blotter acid, marijuana ( grass ), cocaine, mescaline, amyl, and prescription pills; these same drugs were used by the characters in Gilliam s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well. Likewise, the lines spoken by the characters in Terry Gilliam s film were almost matching to those in Thompson s original Fear and Loathing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Fracking And The Natural Gas Production Fracking isn t a word that most people are familiar with unless they are well informed or active in local government or natural gas extraction. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, involves extracting natural gas from shale formations underground (Collier, Galatas, Harrelson Stephens, 2008). During the process known as fracking, millions of gallons of water are shot underground into shale formations to help bring the natural gastrapped inside the formations to be released so that it can surface and become available for extraction. This is the technique that is used for traditional fracking methods. Although fracking increases the states natural gas production, it also carries some negative side effects that are affecting the state and its people. When most people think of Texasthey think of the booming oil industry that the state has. According to our textbook, Texas accounts for almost one third of the country s natural gas production and holds almost almost a quarter of the country s natural gas reserves. Texas has greatly invested in the recourses that are found within the state which makes gives the state a huge economic advantage. When fracking is used to help turn out even larger quantities of natural gas, the economic impact is huge. If the state greatly invested in fracking sites and the use of both traditional and horizontal fracking, the economic gain in the near future could be huge. Paleolithic people depicted art on the cave walls as a way to communicate and tell the history of their existence. However, Paleolithicpeople not only used the cave as a canvas, but also as their living quarters. Paleolithic people were the first inventors of art. The murals created by hand stencils and finger tracing is an indication of early phases of the Paleolithic era. The depiction of animals on the cave walls were an indication of the latter phase of the Paleolithic era. • 16. Powers of the United States Congress as Established by the... The United States Congress was established by the Constitution to be the legislature branch of the Government as distinguished from the executive branch which is headed by the President and the judiciary. The system is organized in order for each of the branches to act as a check and balance on each of the other branches (Moyers, 1987). This check and balance nature of the system often results in creating friction between the branches but this was precisely the purpose behind the Founding Fathers setting the system up in this manner. The theory was that this would diminish the possibility of any one branch becoming too powerful in relation to the other branches. Congress, like the other two branches of the U.S. government, is limited to exercising only the powers specifically granted the Constitution. The powers granted Congress are enumerated in several different locations in the Constitution but the majority of its powers are set forth in Article I. The first of Congress enumerated powers is its authority to regulate commerce among the several states. Since first being addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark case of Gibbons v. Ogden (Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824) the power of Congress to engage itself in the operation of interstate commerce has been expanded, over time, to the point where Congress power to regulate commerce now includes any activities that substantially affects interstate commerce. Transitioning from hearing to deaf and everything it involves, Mr. Drolsbaugh has certainly seen it all. Deaf Again focuses predominantly on the story of a deaf boy, attempting to conform to the lifestyle that was comfortable for everyone else surrounding him; to a shameless, culturally Deaf man sharing his experiences and viewpoints with the nation. Drolsbaugh discusses heavy topics such as education, acceptance, awareness, and self perseverance. He goes on to give his opinions and ideas on cochlear implants, how to raise a deaf child, and fusing the two communities (Deaf and hearing). Learning a new language can be hard, especially when it is not the language spoken by the majority of your friends and family. But, being raised by deaf parents with many hearing influences, what is that like? Drolsbaugh talks about the struggles he faced throughout primary school and how always being the only deaf boy in the room made him feel like an elephant, no less. I m sure anyone would feel that way if they were challenged to follow a conversation without their ears. Although he was hard of hearing for some time, the residual hearing that was left allowed Drolsbaugh to play the fake it till you make it game. The EVT 2 is the second edition of the original Expressive Vocabulary Test by Kathleen T. Williams. As the updated version of the original Expressive Vocabulary Test, the EVT 2 includes new features such as a second, parallel form for examiners to test and retest to monitor growth and evaluate response to intervention, full color illustrations that are larger than the illustrations of its predecessor, additional labeling items for a smoother transition into the synonym task and provide a broader sampling of vocabulary for older examinees (Williams, 2007). Known as the very first film noir, The Maltese Falcon, showcases all the primary elements that make up the genre such as the three main character types composing of the wry private eye, femme fatale, and memorable violent criminals. Dashiell Hammett, author of The Maltese Falcon, had worked for the Pinkerton Detective Agency which gave him ample experience and insight into some unsavory characters. • 36. Heat Movie Analysis Don t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner. Robert De Niro s famous line playing the criminal Niel McCauley sets the tone for Michel Mann s Heat. Mann is able to have high octane action one would expect from a crime movie while displaying intimacy in the main characters. The combination of the two is what makes the film a crime drama (even though Michael Mann argues that it doesn t belong to a genre). That intimacy is what makes Heatmemorable. Mann creates the intimacy in a number of ways: through types of shots such as close ups and zoom ins, the score and the soundtrack, his use of lighting, camera angles, filming locations and use of shadows among others. The utilization of close ups and zoom ins allows the audience to get to know the characters. It shows the wear and tear on the characters faces. We can see the pain, the hurt; we re able to feel how tired the characters are from their deep sighs and the dark circles under their eyes. Michael Mann wants the audience to become as close to the characters as possible. We are introduced to Al Pacinoduring a sex scene, that s about as intimate as the character to audience relationship can get. The large marble fountain was a renovation of an existing fountain called the Ancient Acqua Traiana, built by Emperor Trajan in 109 CE (Hamblin), gaining further inspiration from the Fontana dell Acqua Felice. It was installed in 1612 and designers included Giovanni Fontana who planned the fountain itself, and Carlo Fontana who created the semicircular pond that was added later on (Heilmann, 2). Smith states that hegemony, is the ability of the state and the ruling class to regulate beliefs within a society. Hegemonic beliefs are dominant cultural motifs which reinforce inequality and which short circuit attempts at critical thinking (Smith, 36). The fountain was a way to enforce and allude to the creeds of the Pope and the Catholic Church. In this sense, it is obvious that works of art are a large part of culture and cultural identification. The fountain became a part of history, not only because it is still standing, but also because of the cultural significance seen in the various symbols, material and stories behind the different parts of the fountain. While culture is an ambiguous and debatable term, it is commonly understood and agreed that arts developed by societies define a large part of a culture. There are several socio cultural functions of art, including being a record of history, contributing to the transmission or propaganda of ideology or beliefs, and allowing for further cultural change. Works of art and artifacts are transcendent in nature of theories and ideology, and therefore, cannot be fully analyzed objectively through the theories used. Federalism In Australia Summary In the article, Federalism in Australian Constitutional interpretation: signs of reinvigoration? , Chordia and Lynch explore the constitutional interpretative approach used by the majority in Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd (1920). The article discusses the key factors in the majority s decision in Engineers that disadvantaged the states by significantly increasing the power of the Commonwealth. Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was anticipated by the framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will eventually cancel the other one out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision in Engineers and is explored using the historical evidence of the framers intentions, the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s critique of the Engineers decision. The public transportation in New Urbanism is meant to carry large amounts of people at once such as light rail busses, and subways in order to get them to their destination quickly to minimize the amount of time it takes them to get where they need to go since the commutes are fairly short. This also cuts down on car trips since the busses and subways are within walking distance, and provides people with more time for family and community life, and can even bring low income workers to suburbs where there are many jobs. For the reason that many citizens are not well informed with the effects of smoking, the United States has a high death rate per year. The act of smoking in public should be banned, for it can influence any uninformed individuals to acquire the habit of smoking, which leads to future health risks. Smoking imposes hazardous health problems to anyone nearby, and inclusively contributes to various environmental and social problems. Smoking can cause imminent health issues to all who choose to smoke. Lung cancer, asthma, heart attacks, and lung diseases are some of the results from smoking. Many do not take this in account of when attracted to smoking. For this reason, it is unethical for authorities to not fully illegalize smoking in public. Individuals have the freedom to smoke, yet the government must oversee the whole impact to the communities. People of all ages are vulnerable to what their naked eye perceives. • 50. Cultural Differences Between Eastern And Western Culture The cultural differences can cause some problems when people is communicating especially between Eastern and Western culture because those two cultures are usually considered completely opposite and the differences that cause the problems can be the different levels of dignity, different life style and something. And those differences are mainly caused by different sentiment depends on how they were taught which is more value and what they were seeing while they were growing up. The different levels of self regard between Eastern and Western people is considered that one of the biggest difference. Eastern people tend to think they should be super polite on a person who is older than them or higher status than them even the people put themselves down to shows respect to others. While, the Western people prefer to have causal relationship with people who are in a same group. According to a website topyaps.com, In the Eastern cultures, the leader assumes supreme status. He has a great bearing on the general public. This comes from the fact that in Eastern culture a technically greater man is often elevated to God like status irrespective of his worth. While in the Western cultures, the concept of equality is taken more seriously and a leader is just one among the rest. He is not looked as above and over the general public. (Dhar, 2013) Therefore, it is possible that people who from Eastern country and moved to Western country or from Western country and moved to Eastern country feel weird when they are faced with different situation that they are not used to. Also, Eastern people is inclined to conceal their feeling especially when they feel uncomfortable to avoid conflict. They are not good at expressing their emotions even they hardly express their feelings. But, in the Western societies, it is completely acceptable to express strong emotions. So, Western people would be good at expressing what they feel, think and want. For number four, I thought a blood orange on fire would be a cool representation to show that it has a spice to it. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Properties of Lunasin Antioxidant and Anti inflammatory Properties of Lunasin: Experimental, clinical and epidemiological studies have revealed that chronic inflammation is involved in the development of approximately 15 20% of malignancies worldwide52, being clearly associated with increased risk of cancer and cancer progression53. It is believed that persistent inflammatory cells recruitment, repeated generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), pro inflammatory mediators and continued proliferation of genomically unstable cells contribute to neoplasic transformation which ultimately result in tumor invasion and metastasis54. Determination of anti inflammatory and/or antioxidative properties has been proposed as a good indicator for screening any anticancerous agents55,56. Oxidative stress and inflammation are two of the most critical factors implicated in carcinogenesis and other degenerative disorders such as colon cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases respectively. Hernandez Ledesma and co worker investigated how lunasin, affect these factors. Lunasin inhibits linoleic acid oxidation and acts as 2, 20 azino bis (3 ethylbenzothiazoline 6 sulfonic acid) (ABTS) diammonium salt radical scavenger. Furthermore, using Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages, lunasin reduced the production of ROS by LPS induced macrophages in a significant dose dependent manner. Lunasin also inhibited the release of pro inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor a [TNF a] and interleukine 6 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Can you remember how you drew out necessary information concerning studies, weather patterns, or directions? More pressing, how did you have access to the where abouts and status of your closest four hundred friends? While social networking has become an essential tool in modern day life, our dependence on the Internet has proven itself flawed in that it leads to the increase of adolescences diagnosed with depression. An ever increasing number of studies has examined this phenomenon in search of a correlation between social networking and depression in children maturing into adulthood. According to Guralnik (1984), depression is defined as a psychoneurotic or psychotic disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies. (p.395). A social network is an online interaction service which manages to construct communities and connect them with shared interests (Boyd Ellison, 2007).
