Ambivalence
The government does make some policies that make the citizens have some mixed feelings about
them (Bauman, 2013). This state is known as ambivalence. The laws that the government makes
should give confidence to the people and remind them that they have a strong government. It is
very evident that not all the laws made by the government will create a full satisfaction to its
citizens. In his article, am going to address an experience of ambivalence and the desire to reverse
the growth of the government in this context.
The instance where I had an ambivalence experience was when the government allowed issues to
deal with transgender to be allowed by the constitution and also abortion to be allowed. These are
aspects of societal morals. Transgender are a group of people who have changed their personal
identity and also physical identity to satisfy the psychological perception of who they want to be.
These transgender include lesbians, bisexual and heterosexual. When the government came off
publicly and made these practices legal. The question comes, in a society that is driven by morals,
how can the government allow legality of such happenings within the law? The other thing ... Show

The government, therefore, should not allow such things to be legalized. It would be for me to
change these laws, my point will be; transgender issues such as same sex marriages to be illegal
and not to practice as per stipulated by the constitution. This will also include the consequences of
not abiding by the law as a citizen. The government should come with laws that will protect its
citizens socially. When including citizens, it includes the children who are growing up, the young
children who want to learn from the society. If the society has harnessed immoral behaviors, the
development of the child will be growing towards that direction. This will indeed affect the future
society that will be

The African American Vote
One day you ll sit down and wonder how did we get here, when did this happen, and why did this
happen the way it did, and you will not be able to figure it out, because you decided not to vote,
not to let your voice be heard. It is critical that we as African Americans become a well informed
group of individuals, and understand what we should vote for or what we should stand up for.
Specifically being an African Americanit is important to vote because it is not only our right but
our duty, for our predecessors fought for years for this right as did many others. Because we
were not seen as equal, we were not given the same rights as our Caucasian counterpart. We live
in a world where are given the right to vote and we have come a long way so, let our voices be
heard. Our government, this democracywe live in does not dictate what we should and should not
be allowed to believe. When Africans first came here in 1619 and disembarked from a ship in
Jamestown, Virginia, they were enslaved which automatically denied them to right to vote.
However free black men could vote in some of the original states including North Carolina, all of
the New England states (except Connecticut). In New York only blacks who owned $250 worth of
land were able to vote, which of course was improbable at this time. Naturally, however, this did not
apply to whites. Then came the Reconstruction Act of 1867, which allowed blacks to be elected as
delegates. New amendments to the constitution and allowed

Master Of None Analysis
Master of None is an American comedy drama television series streaming on Netflix since 2015.
Creators Aziz Ansari and Alan Young successfully demonstrate relatable situations in a charming
and humorous manner. The show stars Ansari as the lead role of Dev, a 30 year old actor who
attempts to make his way through life in New York City both professionally and personally.
Episode 2, Parents, presents second generationers Dev and Brian (Dev s chill friend) trying to show
their appreciation for their immigrant parents at a joint familydinner.
Similarly, Brown Nation is an American comedy television series streaming on Netflix since 2016
of November. Director Abi Varghese effectively develops a universal appealing humor by using real

Farewell Papaji begins with Hasmukh trying to have sex with his wife at 12:30 in the morning
because his father in law is sleeping. However, as he tries to wake up his wife, their dog, Bobby,
bites him. Hasmukh falls to the floor and his father in law rushes into Hasmukh s bedroom and
asks what happened. But he is more worried about the dog than his son in law: This house is
causing [Bobby] a lot of psychological damage. This scene places Hasmukh at the bottom of the
family hierarchy, in which the dog gets more respect than him. After the mini introduction the
episode airs the title sequence, introducing the cast members and theme song. Majority of the
cast is Asian, just like the cast members of Master of None. The difference between Master of
None s title sequence and Brown Nation s title sequence is that Brown Nation has a theme song.
There are no words to the song, but the sounds can be described as Indian beats. Once all the
members are introduced, the final part of the title sequence is a picture of Hasmukh holding a
vase of flowers and sitting directly under a photograph of President Barack Obama, and two
American flags. This visual portrays Hasmukh as an Indian, but also as an Indian American
struggling to keep his life together or even fit in New York City, just like

Analysis Of The Poem Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities By...
Expository Essay Analysis: Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities
David Sedaris is a popular comedic autobiographer who delivers intelligent and slightly
embellished satirical content inspired from his memoirs and personal experiences. Sedaris s short
story Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities , is a magnificent mastery of his humorous writing style.
The story is about David s experience of him and his sisters being forced to take music lessons
because of their father s maniacal obsession to start a family jazz band. David eventually finds
himself taking guitar lessons with the unique individual, Mr. Mancini, a midget. David and his
teacher have a unique dialogue and references towards his guitar, which makes David feel like an
outsider and uncomfortable, keeping secret screwball thoughts to himself. His guitar teacher s
disdain for him coupled with lack passion and interest ended his brief uninterested flings with the
guitar regardless of how his father felt. People will honor an individual s interest if the person
means that much to them, however, there is always an end to the humor if the interest is not
reciprocated. Sometimes an obliged imposition can create situations that make the imposed feel
like an outsider in their own way. Personal interest and identity may not be the standard or
acceptable in the positions they were forced into therefore, as a response, a superficial persona is
created to camouflage true feelings. If the passion for a subject is nonexistent to someone,

Dharma Bums Literary Analysis
Throughout the book Dharma Bums, by Jack Kerouac, the characters resist the urge to normalize
their peculiar behavior. This particular idea of nonconformity is present throughout the entirety of
the book. The ultimate source of uniformity, to which Japhy Ryder and Ray Smith are definitely
opposed to, is the middle class. The majority of the American population, who are trapped in the
rat race of money making and social climbing, rely on these social norms to create class
distinction. Kerouac delivers the overall theme that obedience of societal norms is aberrant. To
deliver this theme, Kerouac uses long syntax, detailed imagery, and anaphora to present the overall
idea that conformity is irrational. Kerouac s use of long syntax delivers... Show more content on

Kerouac uses the idea of the silence being so intense to show the idea that uniformity in society
is wrong. Mad raging sunsets poured in seafoams of cloud through unimaginable crags, with
every rose tint of hope beyond, I felt just like it, brilliant and bleak beyond words. Everywhere
awful ice fields and snow straws; one blade of grass jiggling in the winds of infinity, anchored to
a rock. This was the life I was meant to live. (Kerouac,41). This quote helps create a visual image
of the lives of Japhy and Ray. Kerouac purposely used this elaborate imagery to portray that
Japhy and Ray don t obey the societal norms that are apparent. They continue to venture into the
wilderness and find their own personal happiness while ignoring the persuasion to follow what
society tells them to do. ... a world full of rucksack wanderers, Dharma Bums refusing to

The Invention of Computer and its Significance in Human History
Abstract: In human history, there are lots of great inventions which made great effects to our life;
we can even say, they dominated the development of human culture. This paper would say
something about an effective invention which is fast developing and have the greatest influence on
human society computer and its history and significance. The writer believes, before people see
computer as a convenient and useful tool even can t leave it, it s necessary to review its history of
development and knowing its significance would make a good effect to the development in the
future.

Hopper would revise this concept over the next twenty years and her ideas would become an
integral part of all modern computers. CBS uses one of the 46 UNIVAC computers produced to
predict the outcome of the 1952 Presidential Election. They do not air the prediction for 3 hours
because they do not trust the machine.
IBM introduces the 701 the following year. It is the first commercially successful computer. In
1956 FORTRAN is introduced(proposed 1954, it takes nearly 3 years to develop the compiler). Two
additional languages, LISP and COBOL, are added in 1957 and 1958. Other early languages
include ALGOL and BASIC. Although never widely used, ALGOL is the basis for many of today
s languages.
With the introduction of Control Data s CDC1604 in 1958, the first transistor powered computer,
a new age dawns. Brilliant scientist Seymour Cray heads the development team. This year
integrated circuits are introduced by two men, Jack Kilby and John Noyce, working independently.
The second network is developed at MIT. Over the next three years computers begin affecting the
day to day lives of most Americans. The addition of MICR characters at the bottom of checks is
common.
In 1961 Fairchild Semiconductor introduces the integrated circuit. Within ten years all computers
use these instead of the transistor. Formally building sized computers are now room sized, and are

Morality In The Lottery
When thinking of traditions, the first few that come to mind are putting up the Christmas tree,
going to the fair, and many others. Traditions intertwine between families and others as well, and
even nationwide. However, there are some traditions that we are not able to fathom. For example,
in The Lottery , there is a lottery drawn every year for a good crop season. During this tradition,
one person from the community is stoned to death as a sacrifice. Why don t people question
traditions like this? People who grow up in certain communities do things a little different than their
neighboring towns, because it is what they have known their entire life. To them, it is normal .
Consistency is like a drug due to the fact that people do not always adapt well. People often fixate
on repeated circumstances and the outcome can be detrimental. Repeating the lotteryevery year in
their town is quite out of the morality I have, however, it is the tradition they all are familiar with.
Shockingly enough, the world continuously changes while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I believe this exist in every society. Looking into my own traditions after reading The Lottery , I
am more aware of the impact they have on my life and the one s who take part in the same
traditions. It is easy to follow the norm of a tradition because of the lifestyle you were shown as a
kid. Watching the fireworks on the fourth of July, participating in the hunting of Easter eggs, and
also preparing Thanksgiving dinner never brought a question to my mind such as, Why am I doing
this? . As a child you are dependent on your parents and there is usually no question as to why they
are doing the things they do each year just like those who participated in the stoning. Some of the
people who threw stones were little boys and girls who thought this incidence was okay because it
was a tradition. The town where it took place could not let go of the

Literary Techniques In Dorothea Mackellar s Poem My Country
In Poetry authors use a range of literary techniques. These techniques can include the use of rhyme,
alliteration, personification, similes, metaphors and imagery. The poems that will be compared in
this essay include: My Country by Dorothea Mackellar, The Eagle by Alfred Lord Tennyson and
Old Man Platypus by Banjo Patterson.
The Poem My Country, by Australian poet Dorothea Mackellar, depicts the diverse land of Australia
and why she loves it so much. This poem makes me feel proud to be Australian because I am
lucky enough to live in such a vast and beautiful country, as the poem describes. The constant flow
of this poem is created by the rhyme scheme where the second and fourth lines of each stanza
rhyme and so do lives six and eight. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem makes me feel lighthearted and it makes me smile through its clever language use to
describe the individuality of the platypus. Techniques used in this poem include the use of
rhyme, like the two poems previously mentioned. In this poem line one, three and four rhyme
and lines two and five also rhyme with each other in each stanza. Also like the two previous
poems, Old Man Platypus employs personification. For example the poem gives the platypus the
human quality of talking in stanza five he talks in a deep unfriendly growl . Alliteration is used
in this poem, like the others, such as in the first line of stanza three: he shares his burrow
beneath the bank . Similes are also found in this poem in stanza four where Patterson writes,
They sleep like little brown billiard balls . This image of the sleeping platypuses is emphasized
by the use of alliteration. Unlike the other two poems mentioned, Patterson uses humor in this
poem while he is describing the platypus. For example he playfully refers to the platypus as Old
Man Platypus and writes that he descends from a family most exclusive . The use of the word
exclusive would not usually be thought of to refer to the ancestry of the platypus and this is where
the humorous tone of Patterson s writing comes

argument was that physician assisted suicide gives patients the opportunity to ease their mind. She
provided solid evidence by disclosing the touching stories of both her father and the 26 year old
patient she works with during summer in her local community. Both of the men testified that if they
had the choice between deathand life hey choose death to ease the pain. This went against Adam s
argument that the current system in place already provides patients with pain management. This is

Information, Knowledge, And The Dissemination Of...
Information, and the dissemination thereof, is based on usefulness. It is the foundation upon which
we as humans derive knowledge and understanding from to eventually communicate across
platforms and cultures. As it continues to permeate society, the formation, understanding and
transmission of information becomes heavily specified and relative to the type of information
collected, who it is useful to and how it will be used to generate widespread understanding. This is
evidenced in how people seek and use information in their modern daily lives. A widely accepted
model of this process comprises itself of the following components: data, information, knowledge,
understanding and wisdom to an extent and the synthesis of these components is foundational to
understanding how information is relative and consumed in its specificity today (Ackoff, 1989).
Using differing arguments to examine differing perspectives, I will seek to establish the place of
information within this hierarchy and how it applies to how we establish the use of information as
it persists as a standalone concept in today s society. When people determine the usefulness of data
to transform it into information and therefore understanding, it is essential to establish a mode by
which this occurs. One attempt to do this is evidenced in Russell Ackoff s (1989) article, From
Data to Wisdom . As a general argument, Ackoff (1989) seeks to qualify a model consisting of:
data, information, knowledge, understanding

Prison Industrial Complex In Prison
Most of us probably don t give jail much thought but with a rapid rise in the prison population, we
probably should.
PIC or Prison Industrial Complex is the term used to reflect the rising prison population in the US
and other countries. Yes, even here in Canada.
It s interesting to note that the US has more people behind bars than China. A country with 5 times
the population yet America is considered the land of the free .
The majority of people in jail are Black or Hispanic. Also interesting to note: US federal law cracks
the whip down on the possession of rock cocaine (crack). Less than 2 ounces will get you 10 years
in prison. Possess 500 grams of cocaine powder you only get 5 years. That s almost 18 ounces yet

In 2013, there were 133,000 state and federal prisoners confined in privately owned prisons in the
US. Hmm, privately owned. What are they doing in there? Sounds like business to me.
The fact is, it very much is a business. Just to give you an idea, the prison industry raked in 5

Social Cost Evaluation (NSFAD)
Goncalves provides the most complete social cost evaluation of the NSFAD of any of my sources.
Furthermore, a social cost evaluation is best way to measure the repercussions of the policy on
Portuguese society because it is congruent with other scholarship on social cost evaluations dealing
with substances similar to illicit drugs such as tobacco and alcohol. However, it is not without it s
flaws, as pointed out by other scholarship. As previously mentioned, from 2001 through 2005 the
number of drugcitations fell, reducing the overall social cost of drug use. Goncalves also provides
that when drug citations returned to pre NSFAD levels from 2005 2010 the associated social costs
were still reduced compared to pre NSFAD social costs (205). These findings as a whole are
misleading for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, as previously proven, policing had a negative cost shift overall due to the NSFAD calling for
more funding to go to drug trafficking policing. Local policing costs have not significantly changed,
though, meaning that the NSFAD did not augment the amount of police interaction with drug users.
Taking into account this information it can be claimed that in terms of the social cost, or the
taxpayer burden, the NSFAD has been a mixed bag. What can be positively asserted is that both
prison costs and the lost income/productivity of the drug offend has been significantly reduced
due to the introduction of decriminalization and CTD s. Taking into account all four social cost
categories identified by Goncalves as well as the their respective limitations and caveats, it can
not be confidently be claimed that the overall social costs of drug use following the
implementation of the NSFAD were decreased, rather success in reducing negative social
repercussions should be considered on a category by category

were personal problems he encountered, such as his divorce with Bonnie Vitello, and the

Feminism As A Black Woman
Feminism means something different to every woman. What feminism means to BeyoncГ©
may be different from what it means to Bell Hooks. In Feminism is for Everybody, Hooks
defines feminism as, a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression. BeyoncГ©
s feminism may be personal to her but the narratives she depicts in Lemonade resonate with her
fans. Through the lenses of Hooks, I will examine the lyrics and images of BeyoncГ© s
Lemonade by comparing their views on marriage, political liberation, and double standards.
Many women are empowered by the words of Bell Hooks. They can also be empowered by
BeyoncГ© s lyrics because they affirm and support what their lives have been like. BeyoncГ©
uncovers the diversity of black women through history in her video. Visual images of slaves,
mothers, young women, and working women combating struggles of being a black woman. In
Don t Hurt Yourself, a speech by Malcolm X is inserted where he said, The most neglected person
in America is the black woman. Similarly, Hooks wrote about the dismissal of black women in the
feminist movement, the utopian vision of sisterhood evoked in a feminist movement that initially
did not take racial difference or anti racist struggle seriously. This comparison suggests that both
Hooks and BeyoncГ© aim to improve the representation and political liberation of black women by
making their narratives heard. Additionally, Hooks writes about political liberation as a form of
men breaking ties

Maintaining Agricultural Farmlands for the World s Growing...
As the world population continues to rise, there are growing concerns for maintaining agricultural
farmlands, especially in developing countries with drought and famine. This has also led to many
shortages of food, due to high demand because of the increasing population. Demographists worry
that if this growing issue continues to hurt foodconsumption of povertized countries, than there
will be more deaths because the population is increasing, but the food levels are staying the same,
or even decreasing. Some of these demographists believe that this is occurring, because the
developed countries are intaking too much food. Others believe that this is because of the
overpopulated countries, and the fact that they are in higher need for food because of their
population. Another problem that arises within this is deforestation. Deforestation is a part of this
growing problem because when massive woodlands are cut down, the lands become dry and
bodies of water in or around the land dry up, making crops unsuitable for crop growth and crop
rotation, leading to the lands to turn into non arable lands. This is also known as desertification.
This correlates with population growthbecause if lands become non arable, then crops won t grow
there, leading to starvation in developing countries with higher population needs and demands.
Although some people are taking action for the problems that this issue has given us, we re still
nowhere near solving the problem. This issue is very

Functional Leadership Analysis
What is Leadership? The leader is a member that directs and coordinates tasks that are relevant to
the company. To be a considered leading individual you must either be appointed as a leader. The

The finish is too smooth to attempt a climb up the leg, and I ponder in the darkness for a while.
The chair would also be too difficult, not to mention once i reach the seat being at the mercy of

it, and gently climb up the cord, straddling it, and stand up on it, delicately balancing my way to

what seems like nearly an hour before, in the darkness, the cord begins to slip. I m in free fall, my

I slide a few inches down the cord as it stops, and sweaty and panting, I race to the top. I discover

Essay on Baroque Music
Baroque Music
In 1600 a new style of music began to evolve, this form of music was later to be called Baroque.
Baroque music was very different to the music before its time such as medieval and early
renaissance music and the development of new harmonic and melodic lines added difference in
pace and variation to the compositions giving them a new shape and form. The structure of the
music also changed, different forms such as fugues and cannons developed and different
instruments were introduced.
There were many composers that wrote music throughout the baroque era, some more significant
than others but each contributing a large amount to the development throughout this period.

Handel s father disapproved of his composing wanting him to study law; however Handel s
intentions were strongly pointed in the direction of his musical talent. Handel became very much
involved in the Opera scene developing in London at this time and became key to it s
development. After leaving Germany he spent a significant amount of time in Florence, Rome,
Naples and Venice and in this time he studied with other influential artists such as
ArcangeloCorelli. He then left Italy in 1710 and moved to Hanover; here he was given the job of
director of music to George Louis, the Elector. Handel was considered as one of England s most
influential composers and after his death in 1710 he was buried in Westminster Abbey.
Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21st l685 and died in 1750, he was said to have a
great ability of bringing the different forms and styles of baroque music to perfection and this
helped him stand out as a significant composer during the baroque era and forward till today. Bach
came from a family with a large amount of musical history making him well known in his home
land of southeast Germany. It was clear that Bach was considered a powerful composer because he
was still dominant to the developments made on the baroque style even though he

Gender Identity As An Axis Of Social Order
Gender is considered an axis of social order. Its categorisation into masculinity and femininity is
social constructed and maintained in everyday life (Clark and Page, 2005; Mackie, 1994). Gender
identity is our innermost understanding of our self as male or female . Most people develop a
gender identity that matched their biological sex (their body). Genderidentity can be affected by,
and is different from one society to another, depending on the way the members of society evaluate
the role of females and males. Our gender identitycan be influenced from the ethnicity of the
group, their cultural background, and family values. Gender like social class and race can be used
to socially categorize people and even lead to prejudice and discrimination. From day to day,
continuous production of gender has been called doing gender (West and Zimmermann, 1987),
meaning that gender is made by us in everyday lives in our interactions with others.
The media does affects and influenced gender identity. For instance children are constantly
bombarded with shows depicting gender stereotype models from toys marketed as for boys or
girls, to children s TV programmes and shows. It is common for children s programmes to
emphasize the role of the make hero who saves the weak female. Children interpret these messages
as real life which shapes their reality, behaviour and expectations of their gender role. However, the
social construction of gender does not happen only, it continues

The Denomination For The Jim Crow Laws
The denomination for the Jim Crow Laws first originated in the mid 1800s from a character in a
Minstrel Show. The Minstrel Show was one of the first forms of American regalement ever
engendered and took place in 1843. The exhibition was performed by successors of African
American musical composition and dance routine actors. The first Minstrel Showwas in Virginia
and commenced by a group of four men from Virginia who all painted their faces ebony and
performed a minute musical composition and dance skit in a minute theater in Incipient York City.
Thomas Dartmouth Rice, a white actor, performed the Jim Crow Minstrel Show. Rice s inspiration
emanated from an older ebony man whom would sing and dance in Louisville, Kentucky. Rice s
skit ended in the same chorus as the old ebony mans musical composition which went like this

Pittsburgh and Philadelphia then conclusively to Incipient York City. Determinately, Rice
performed throughout Europe as well as London and Dublin. He had a sizably voluminous
following with the Irish community.

L. Russ Bush s The Advancement
Introduction
In the book, The Advancement: Keeping the Faith in an Evolutionary Age, L. Russ Bush provides a

thoughts of naturalistic evolution, inevitable progress, and process theology forming a worldview
that dominates Western civilization. Bush overall purpose for his thesis, The older worldview is
not true because it s old, and it too may be in need of refinement in light of better understandings of

He describes the fundamental parts of the Christian worldview has been replaced with the idea
of inevitable progress in the advancement worldview. He states, If God created the world, as the
Christian Bible said that he did, then the world of nature should be reasonably stable, orderly and
predictable. In his idea of stability in nature, Bush provides a distinct view of the modern
worldview by stating, to the modern mind, however, progress is inevitable. It is a characteristic of
nature and a characteristic of mankind (Ch. 1). He concludes chapter one cautioning readers of the
risks included with the modern worldview and confirms his belief in the worldview of authentic
Christianity. In chapter two, Bush discusses the rise of advancement science. He discusses how
naturalistic evolution became the scientific method. Bush states, the first noticeable symptoms of
this shift from a Christian to a naturalistic worldview within the church began to show up among
the eighteenth century. Scientist started offering a more sophisticated and fairly comprehensive
way to interpret scientific data without acknowledging God. This provided a platform for

The Affordable Care Act ( Aca ) Essay
Introduction One of the goals of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was to reduce healthcare
spending in the US (DeMichele, 2015). However, the passage of the ACA has spurred activity
that is counter to this goal of decreased spending in the form of increased hospital consolidation
which many studies show has led to higher prices. While, there are many other effects of hospital
consolidation such as the impact on quality of care or innovation, these topics are beyond the
scope of this paper. Why Consolidate? In the hope of better coordinating the care of patients,
improving quality and lowering costs, the ACA provides incentives for physicians and hospitals
to work together in several ways, such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACO s) or
establishing bundled payments for episodes of care (Martin Gaynor, 2012 ) which has spurred
consolidation (Becker, Gamble, Rosin, 2015). Additionally, compliance with various federal
programs such as Meaningful Use requires a significant investment in technology which can be
fiscally challenging for smaller provider groups; driving acquisitions of these smaller entities by
larger health systems. Other reasons cited by hospital administrators in the pursuit of
consolidation is to ensure a steady stream of physician referrals (NPR, 2010), and to create
economies of scale and increased efficiencies, the fruits of which result in reduced costs and
therefore cheaper care for patients (ProMarket Writers, 2016). However, what most hospital

East Stroudsburg s Speech And Hearing Center
On Thursday, December 3rd, 2015 at 2:00 PM I observed an hour and forty five minute
secession at East Stroudsburg s Speech and Hearing Center. East Stroudsburg s Speech and
Hearing Center is located on campus, in the town of East Stroudsburg PA, on the second floor of
Monroe (building). The clinic at ESU was very clean and organized. It had multiple therapy and
diagnostic rooms that were set up nicely and welcoming for a client. The types of population
seen at the ESU s clinic range from any age for speech therapy or audiological visits. The clinical
audiologist I observed was Susan Dillmuth Miller Au.D., CCC A, FAAA.. The secession started
at 2:00 PM, and began in the audiology room where there is the main therapy room and then two
sound treated rooms separated by a glass window. The sound treated rooms have been modified
in a special way (double wall, incandescent lighting, floor suspended etc.) which results in
blocking out unwanted noise to allow for reliable testing results (DeBonis and Donhue, 2008).
Dr. Miller seated the patient in the main therapy room where she introduced herself to the client
and gave her an overview of what was going to be taking place during the secession. The client I
observed in junior high previously had Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). The client s
complaint was that it was sometimes difficult for her in class to listen and understand. The client s
visit was to get a check up to see if her ADP was still significant or got worse from when

Hamlet the Sentimental Dreamer
Hamlet: The Sentimental Dreamer
The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark is William Shakespeare s most well known and
analyzed work of literature. As the play unfolds, Hamlet has to face the difficult task of seeking
revenge against his uncle, Claudius, for the murder of his father, King Hamlet. Hamlet has captured
audiences and readers for centuries and has caused much inquiry and debate. Shakespeare s Hamlet
is a very psychologically complex character. Throughout the play, Hamlet conveys two different
sides; the young, emotional and intelligent prince, who is committed to honesty and loyalty; and his
destructive and impulsive side which led to the death of Polonius and nonchalantly sent
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to their deaths as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2.634 35). This quote means that Hamlet will study Claudius during the performance of the
play, and should he change his behavior, he will know that the Ghost s story was true and he can
now take revenge. Even despite the fact .that Hamlet now knows that Claudius killed his father,
he still delays his actions. This goes on to show that Hamlet is an intellectual dreamer. Hamlet
gets a perfect opportunity to kill Claudius but he neglects to kill him because he is in prayer.
Hamlet delays in action of seeking revenge against Claudius when he quotes, Now might I do
it(pat,) now he is a praying, and now I ll do it/ And so he goes to heaven/ And so am I(revenged.)
That would be scanned: A villan kills my father, and for that/ I, his sole son, do this same villain
send to Heaven (Ham. 3.3.77 83). Hamlet s rationale for this was that he assumed Claudius was
confessing his sins, and his death would send him to heaven. For Hamlet, taking revenge is just not
about killing Claudius, but making sure that he suffers, another deeply thought out belief. Hamlet is
too much of a thinker and not enough of an actor. Even when Hamlet is given the opportunity to
carry out his intentions, he delays and reasons himself out of it. Hamlet does have an almost
excessive desire to reason everything through thoroughly.
As a dreamer, Hamlet is lacking of that strength which would carry him through his actions.

The Call of Cthulhu or a Portent of Nuclear Destruction Howard Phillip Lovecraft died in 1937

Readers gain a sense of trust with McDougall because his work highlights a notable successor in the
realm of running and athletic achievement. McDougall reports the achievements of Stanford
University head coach Vin Lananna, whose track and cross country teams won five NCAA team
championships and twenty two individual titles, and being named NCAA Cross Country Coach of
the Year (169). McDougall strategically profiles the laudable reputation of coach Lananna s success
in coaching by discussing his experiences. Coach Lananna knew of the Nike mythos, while the
brand represented vitality and wealth, the product was costly and detrimental to those who wore it.
This example increases the effectiveness and the believability of McDougall s argument by
providing expert opinion that big running companies severely hindered athletic ability. Moreover,
McDougall s targeted audience is eclectic anyone who is interested in running, by familiarizing
himself and anyone reading on the topic with the use of credible professionals. McDougall s
purpose of Lananna s testimony was to further edify the ethos of his argument that running wasn t
about the glamorous cushioned shoes it was just about running. Running is not supposed to be
coupled with shoes that have thick rubber for heel support, and big companies knew this.

Barrett Seven Levels Of Consciousness Analysis
Introduction
Leadership skills are very important for a project manager since project manager is always a
leader due to his/her position. Leadership is defined by behavior, which in turn is dependent on
personal values. This is why this essay will look at Barrett Seven Levels of Consciousness Model
that categorizes individual values, Life Orientations Model (LIFO) that describes four behavioral
styles and FIRO B Model that also illustrates different behavioral components. The survey results
will be compared and similar patterns will be identified. After that the possible gaps in the
leadership style and behavior will be uncovered. Finally, an action plan will be developed to remove
these gaps and improve both individual and team performance, contributing to successful
management of the projects in future.

America s Current Socio Political Events And Values Are...
America s current socio political events and values are reflected through the film industry s
portrayal of superheroes. Annika Hagley writes a very convincing argument regarding this theory
in her article America s need for superheroes has lead to the rise of Donald Trump. Post 9/11, it
has become increasing clear that the issues and values held dear to most Americans are now being
portrayed on the big screen. Fighting back at the enemy and uniting as one are some of the
messages in the background of superherofilms released after the attacks on the twin towers. Today,
the USA is more divided; just like the superheroes that have been on the silver screen in recent
months. In continuation, America s allowances for overly violent superheroes and everything said
superheroes stand for, are simply just reflections of their own socio political views and values. It is
this allowance that has lead to the rise of Donald Trump.
Exacting vigilante justice in the name of the greater good has been the message in a handful of
superhero movies released in the past the few years. Almost eerily, this action has matched with the
United State s agenda, invading the Middle East. In recent years, the focus has shifted from
fighting united, to fighting those who do not share the same political views. The Democratic party

Declaration of Independence, the British levied taxes in order to pay the debt piled from the French
and Indian War. The colonist who were paying those taxes believed it was unfair to tax without
representation. The colonists argued and stated conditions which were then written in an official
document. The aspects of equality, right to revolt or abolish, consent of the governed, right to life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, were reviewed with great thought. However, there are some
ideals written in the Declaration of Independence that are more valuable than others. Therefore, the
most important ideal written in the document is the right to revolt or abolish. After the
Revolutionary war, many countries were influenced by the Declaration of Independence. During the
year of 1989, protesters and students from a Chinese university crowded Tiananmen Square in
Beijing. The group protested against the corruption of government and demanded a change to
democracy. Unfortunately, the group was suppressed and the protest ended in tragedy, about 3,000
people were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they feel are unjust and unconstitutional. The right to revolt or abolish is still present in the U.S.

The Theme Of Empathy In The Ugly Tourist By David Wallace
Empathy is a human device that allows someone to put oneself in another person s situation. This
allows them to have a greater understanding or personal connection of someone s problem. After
reading The Ugly Tourist by Jamaica Kincaid and Consider the Lobster by David Wallace, the
theme of perspective, specifically empathy, is a vital aspect in both essays. Empathy plays a great
role in understanding both writer s perspective, which means to understand a certain point of view
other than oneself. The sense of empathy goes far beyond sympathy, which is just feelingsorry for
someone or something. However, being that empathy stretches to feeling sorry with someone or
something one is capable of sensing emotions of another. In The Ugly Tourist , Kincaid wants her
audience to know tourists that go to visit Natives frustrate her. She displays her frustration from the
perspective of the natives. In addition, in Consider the Lobster which is directed to humans that eat
and cook lobster, to understand the pain that these lobsters go through and believes we humans are
cruel. Although The Ugly Tourists and Consider the Lobster essays are similar in that both
incorporate the themes, empathy and perspective in their writing, they do so in different ways.
Whereas, The Ugly Tourists uses an aggressive tone to point out the native s struggles while in
Consider the Lobster he uses cultural practices of humans to makes his point of how empathy or

Japan s Laws Of The Trafficking Of Women And Children Is...
Japan is a Tier 2 source, transit, and destination country for forced labor, sexual exploitation, and
forced marriages. Men, women, and children are all susceptible to trafficking. The government
actively participates in the exploitation of its people, especially through the program of TITP, or
the Technical Intern Training Program. The proliferation of the sexual trafficking of women and
children is driven by sex tourism. Runaway girls are among the victims of this horrific trade.
Japan does not meet the minimum standard of the 2000 UN TIP Protocol and is the only G 8
member who did not accede to neither its standards nor the 2000 Transnational Organized Crime
Convention. There are no convictions for perpetrators of forced labor and no laws enacted to
prosecute traffickers. Japan s laws are not collusive with international definitions of trafficking. In
2015, Japan had a modest increase in the enforcement of ant trafficking laws. However, Japan s
laws do not exclude all forms of trafficking, rather there are large gaps in their criminal laws. Under
the 1956 ProstitutionPrevention Law, Articles 7 through 12 criminalizes the procurement of
prostitutes and forced prostitution. Article 226 2 also criminalizes the buying and selling of
humans. Under the 1947 Employment Security Act, it criminalizes the engagement of labor
recruitment through violence, intimidation, or confinement. It also criminalizes the recruitment of
labor for work that is harmful to public health and moral

Women in the Progressive Era Essay
In the 1890s, American women emerged as a major force for social reform. Millions joined civic
organizations and extended their roles from domestic duties to concerns about their communities
and environments. These years, between 1890 and 1920, were a time of many social changes that
later became known as the Progressive Era. In this time era, millions of Americans organized
associations to come up with solutions to the many problems that society was facing, and many of
these problems were staring American womenright in the face.
Women began to speak out against the laws that were deliberately set against them. Throughout this
time period, women were denied the right to vote in all federal and most state held elections. Women

Progressivism was not just a single movement, rather it was several different organizations of
people trying to accomplish their own goals. Keep in mind, this era was a few decades long, so
many things were accomplished over a long period of time. Women exercised what they saw as
their rights as citizens to shape public policy and create institutions.
Progressivism generally took two forms: Political and Social reform. What most social reformers
found was that they could not rely on people doing the right and moral thing all the time. If law is
going to be used for social reform, who is going to make the law? Politicians. However, politics
and politicians were seen as a big part of the problem, not the solution, therefore, Progressives seen
that the future for a new America ultimately depended on changing the government and politics.
Women acted through several various organizations during the Progressive Era, such as the Young
Women s Christian Association (YWCA), the National Consumers League (NCL), Women s Trade
Union League (WTUL), and other various trade unions. Female reformers also lead the movement
against child labor and the women s suffrage campaign. They won minimum wage and maximum

against the 7th regiment of the US Cavalry which was led by Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer. In
the year of 1868 Lakota leaders agreed to a treaty known as Fort Laramie Treaty which was

Anatomy Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that affects the hand and wrist. It happens
when too much pressure is put on the median nerve. The median nerve runs through a structure at
the wrist called the carpal tunnel, which is where the syndrome gets its name. Sometimes the carpal
tunnel (which is made up of the carpal bones and the transverse ligament) will narrow, due to
swelling, and that is how the median nerve gets squeezed. This condition is usually progressive (it
will continue to get worse over time) and the symptoms involve numbness and pain in the wrist and
hand. Sometimes the pain will also spread up into the arm (Sartore).

The Recognition Of Indian And Transgender Identity Essay
The Recognition of Indian and Transgender Identity There are various groups throughout the
United State and globally that continue to be treated as though they are not who they say they
are. Indian and transgender individuals, while very different, face similar identity issues. Both
groups have faced and continue to face issues regarding their identity and whether or not they
can be legally recognized for who they are. Indian tribes such as the Navajo have blood quantum
laws preventing anyone with less than a quarter Navajo blood from registering with their tribe.
This means that they are unable to be legally recognized as an Indian, despite having Indian
ancestors. In comparison, the transgender community is facing legal issues with a new bill in
North Carolina and Mississippi that requires them to use the bathroom of the gender they were
born into. In addition to this, it takes away legal protection for people who identify as LGBT,
allowing for legal discrimination. The percent of people who identify as transgender is 0.3% in
the United States as of 2011. (How Many People Are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender?).
The percent of Indians in the United States as of 2013 is two percent, or 5.2 million (Facts for
Features: American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month: November 2014). The
misrepresentation Indians and Transgender communities face within the United States is a
controversial issue, one that can be seen in the news, novels, and more. For centuries,

Ever since the Roaring 20 s ,its been almost unachievable to pass a even a day without using
technology. Us commoners nowadays use technology for everything. From communication and
education,we are constantly glued to our electronics,so that we can keep up with each other, get
instant information, and all in all, get things done! Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that
technology is a huge part of our lives. But what if something happened, that could make all that
vital technology inaccessible? We would probably be screwed. In the novel Lord of the Flies,by
William Golding, a devastating plane crash leaves a group of boys on a deserted island with

It can also be used as a giant fan if i whip it around quickly. In essence, even though bringing a
blanket with me to an island sounds impractical,it comes in handy, and thats why I m bringing it.
Last but not least, the third item i would bring is a lifetime supply of food. This is obviously
necessary considering the fact that I am a human, and humans need to eat.Contrary to Lord of the
Flies, I don t think i would have the guts to hunt and eat a raw, wild, pig. Just the thought of it
grosses me out and like i said before, I m lazy and wouldn t go through the trial and error of
hunting. And although fruit is pretty good, I can t imagine eating it all the time. Having my own
food supply would allow me to be independent, because I don t have to rely on anyone, any
animal, or even nature, for food. Another big reason to have some food with me, is that I could
use it as negotiation to get myself rescued a lot more quicker. If a random ship comes by, I could
just give them some food if they bring me back home. that would make life easier, and it s
common sense. All these reasons aside, I would obviously need food, so that s the third thing I m
bringing with me. It s obvious that we have become way too dependent on technology. With all this
technology making our lives easier, it s hard sometimes to think outside the box. However, I know
that if something similar to what happened to the boys in Lord of the Flies happened to me,i could

Enron Corporation Essay
Enron Corporation
Before filing for bankruptcy in 2001, Enron Corporation was one of the largest integrated natural
gas and electricity companies in the world. It marketed natural gas liquids worldwide and operated
one of the largest natural gas transmission systems in the world, totaling more than 36,000 miles. It
was also one of the largest independent developers and producers of electricity in the world, serving
both industrial and emerging markets.
Timeline
Enron began as Northern Natural Gas Company, organized in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1930. The
company s founding came just a few months after the stock market crash of 1929, an unusual time

Enron built power plants in industrial and developing nations all over the world: Italy, Turkey,

Essay on The Landlords of the Oceans
The Landlords of the Oceans
Have you ever thought about the landlords of the oceans? There is a saying: Big fish eats the
smaller ones. The most powerful and deadly animals who taste the freedom of the sea world are
whales. So many kinds of whales exist. One of the most interesting kinds is the bottle nosed whale.
It is no wonder why they are given this name. Their bulbous forehead and elongated snout give
them a unique character. Besides these unique physical characteristics, they have other special
qualities as well including their rarity and their enormous size. Northern species and southern
species are the two types of bottle nosed whales that are categorized by the difference in their size,
living habitats and mating seasons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Northern species are gray with a lighter underside and a pale band around the neck. The color of
southern species varies more; they have blue black, gray, brown or yellow bodies and light
colored snouts and undersides. However, they share a common treat, males have two conical teeth
in the lower jaw and females have no teeth. In short, the size, color and the shape of bottle nosed
whales vary according to where they are found.
The second quality is their living habitats. Both of the species usually inhabit cold waters deeper
than 3000ft. They are most often observed in deep trenches or canyons in the sea floor. Northern
bottle nosed whales live in the North Atlantic. Significant populations are found in a vast undersea
canyon near Sable Island, Nova Scotia, and north and west of Scotland near the Shetland Islands,
the Orkney Islands, and the Outer Hebrides Islands. Southern bottle nosed whales range throughout
the Southern Hemisphere from Antarcticanorth to the equator. In winter, they are sighted
occasionally off the coasts of the Hawaiian Islands and Japan, as well as in the Pacific and Indian
oceans. The third quality is their mating. Both southern and northern species mating takes place
during the spring. After a gestational period of about 11 months, female bottle nosed whales
deliver a single baby and then nurse it for nearly a year. They give birth every two or three years.

Biography Of Martin Luther King s Black Power

Chapter 24 Epilogue pp. 341 348
Many people had imperceptible answers to the questions like, what did it all mean in the end and
what were the accomplishments? Stokely Carmichael wrote a book called Black Power and in it
he wrote about how black people in that time did not accept segregation. Martin Luther King also
made important points in his speeches about segregation and how during this time black people
decided to make a change. The movement in the Alabama Black Belt lasted the longest and many
people do not acknowledge that fact. Even after all the protests started to fade away from the
headlines, black people in Alabama continued to protest for freedom. Many black citizens in
Alabama began to realize that there were other white people in Alabama who also wanted to end
segregation. In Lowndes County, Alabama, there was a rich man who owned thousands of acres
of land, named Harrell Hammonds. Hammonds was a probate judge who raised cattle and grew
cotton on his farm. Hammonds was also an aristocratic politician. Many people noticed
Hammonds as being against segregation. Hammonds argued in a court of law that everyone
should be treated equally no matter the color of their skin. Later in his life, Hammonds also gave
his support for black people to be able to get an equal education as white people.
There was an unhappy ending to Hammonds support to end segregation. Many people threatened

Undertones In Coraline
If you want a movie to watch that is geared towards children but will give any sensible person
nightmares, Coraline is the movie for you. Coraline is a simple story about a young girl who
moves into a new house and is given a doll that looks exactly like her. With seemingly neglectful
parents, Coraline s only support is a cat that occasionally speaks, a strange young boy, and her
eccentric neighbors while reality is bent and twisted around her. This movie is made using stop
motion and puppets. The time and effort it took to make this movie is impressive on its own, but
the nuances are what makes Coralinea spectacular movie, along with the fact that Neil Gaiman
wrote the book that the screenplay is based upon. One thing is for certain, you will never look at

Even better, it doesn t have any overtly sexual undertones that are common in the horror genre.
Because of this, Coraline has a universal audience; it appeals to both kids and adults. What
translates across both of those audiences are the malicious and dark undertones. These undertones
work to communicate that just because a person wants something, doesn t mean they should get
it. Besides the various creepy undertones are the more obvious aspects, such as the black button
eyes the people in the Other World have instead of normal eyes. The black buttons mark the
characters as belonging to the Other Mother, they are of her own creation. What makes this movie
stand out amongst other horror movies, other than the aforementioned lack of sexualization and
gore, is the no strings attached happy ending. Good conquers evil and said evil is trapped forever.
Coraline s parents have learned not to take their daughter for granted and Coraline is at peace with
moving to a new place. Everyone is happy. It s quite

  • 2. Ambivalence The government does make some policies that make the citizens have some mixed feelings about them (Bauman, 2013). This state is known as ambivalence. The laws that the government makes should give confidence to the people and remind them that they have a strong government. It is very evident that not all the laws made by the government will create a full satisfaction to its citizens. In his article, am going to address an experience of ambivalence and the desire to reverse the growth of the government in this context. The instance where I had an ambivalence experience was when the government allowed issues to deal with transgender to be allowed by the constitution and also abortion to be allowed. These are aspects of societal morals. Transgender are a group of people who have changed their personal identity and also physical identity to satisfy the psychological perception of who they want to be. These transgender include lesbians, bisexual and heterosexual. When the government came off publicly and made these practices legal. The question comes, in a society that is driven by morals, how can the government allow legality of such happenings within the law? The other thing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The government, therefore, should not allow such things to be legalized. It would be for me to change these laws, my point will be; transgender issues such as same sex marriages to be illegal and not to practice as per stipulated by the constitution. This will also include the consequences of not abiding by the law as a citizen. The government should come with laws that will protect its citizens socially. When including citizens, it includes the children who are growing up, the young children who want to learn from the society. If the society has harnessed immoral behaviors, the development of the child will be growing towards that direction. This will indeed affect the future society that will be ... • 3. The African American Vote One day you ll sit down and wonder how did we get here, when did this happen, and why did this happen the way it did, and you will not be able to figure it out, because you decided not to vote, not to let your voice be heard. It is critical that we as African Americans become a well informed group of individuals, and understand what we should vote for or what we should stand up for. Specifically being an African Americanit is important to vote because it is not only our right but our duty, for our predecessors fought for years for this right as did many others. Because we were not seen as equal, we were not given the same rights as our Caucasian counterpart. We live in a world where are given the right to vote and we have come a long way so, let our voices be heard. Our government, this democracywe live in does not dictate what we should and should not be allowed to believe. When Africans first came here in 1619 and disembarked from a ship in Jamestown, Virginia, they were enslaved which automatically denied them to right to vote. However free black men could vote in some of the original states including North Carolina, all of the New England states (except Connecticut). In New York only blacks who owned $250 worth of land were able to vote, which of course was improbable at this time. Naturally, however, this did not apply to whites. Then came the Reconstruction Act of 1867, which allowed blacks to be elected as delegates. New amendments to the constitution and allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creators Aziz Ansari and Alan Young successfully demonstrate relatable situations in a charming and humorous manner. The show stars Ansari as the lead role of Dev, a 30 year old actor who attempts to make his way through life in New York City both professionally and personally. Episode 2, Parents, presents second generationers Dev and Brian (Dev s chill friend) trying to show their appreciation for their immigrant parents at a joint familydinner. Farewell Papaji begins with Hasmukh trying to have sex with his wife at 12:30 in the morning because his father in law is sleeping. However, as he tries to wake up his wife, their dog, Bobby, bites him. Hasmukh falls to the floor and his father in law rushes into Hasmukh s bedroom and asks what happened. But he is more worried about the dog than his son in law: This house is causing [Bobby] a lot of psychological damage. This scene places Hasmukh at the bottom of the family hierarchy, in which the dog gets more respect than him. After the mini introduction the episode airs the title sequence, introducing the cast members and theme song. Majority of the cast is Asian, just like the cast members of Master of None. The difference between Master of None s title sequence and Brown Nation s title sequence is that Brown Nation has a theme song. There are no words to the song, but the sounds can be described as Indian beats. Once all the members are introduced, the final part of the title sequence is a picture of Hasmukh holding a vase of flowers and sitting directly under a photograph of President Barack Obama, and two American flags. • 5. Analysis Of The Poem Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities By... Expository Essay Analysis: Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities David Sedaris is a popular comedic autobiographer who delivers intelligent and slightly embellished satirical content inspired from his memoirs and personal experiences. Sedaris s short story Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities , is a magnificent mastery of his humorous writing style. The story is about David s experience of him and his sisters being forced to take music lessons because of their father s maniacal obsession to start a family jazz band. David eventually finds himself taking guitar lessons with the unique individual, Mr. Mancini, a midget. David and his teacher have a unique dialogue and references towards his guitar, which makes David feel like an outsider and uncomfortable, keeping secret screwball thoughts to himself. His guitar teacher s disdain for him coupled with lack passion and interest ended his brief uninterested flings with the guitar regardless of how his father felt. People will honor an individual s interest if the person means that much to them, however, there is always an end to the humor if the interest is not reciprocated. Sometimes an obliged imposition can create situations that make the imposed feel like an outsider in their own way. Personal interest and identity may not be the standard or acceptable in the positions they were forced into therefore, as a response, a superficial persona is created to camouflage true feelings. If the passion for a subject is nonexistent to someone, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Dharma Bums Literary Analysis Throughout the book Dharma Bums, by Jack Kerouac, the characters resist the urge to normalize their peculiar behavior. This particular idea of nonconformity is present throughout the entirety of the book. The ultimate source of uniformity, to which Japhy Ryder and Ray Smith are definitely opposed to, is the middle class. The majority of the American population, who are trapped in the rat race of money making and social climbing, rely on these social norms to create class distinction. Kerouac delivers the overall theme that obedience of societal norms is aberrant. To deliver this theme, Kerouac uses long syntax, detailed imagery, and anaphora to present the overall idea that conformity is irrational. Kerouac s use of long syntax delivers... Everywhere awful ice fields and snow straws; one blade of grass jiggling in the winds of infinity, anchored to a rock. This was the life I was meant to live. (Kerouac,41). This quote helps create a visual image of the lives of Japhy and Ray. Kerouac purposely used this elaborate imagery to portray that Japhy and Ray don t obey the societal norms that are apparent. • 8. Morality In The Lottery When thinking of traditions, the first few that come to mind are putting up the Christmas tree, going to the fair, and many others. Traditions intertwine between families and others as well, and even nationwide. However, there are some traditions that we are not able to fathom. For example, in The Lottery , there is a lottery drawn every year for a good crop season. During this tradition, one person from the community is stoned to death as a sacrifice. Why don t people question traditions like this? People who grow up in certain communities do things a little different than their neighboring towns, because it is what they have known their entire life. To them, it is normal . Consistency is like a drug due to the fact that people do not always adapt well. People often fixate on repeated circumstances and the outcome can be detrimental. The poems that will be compared in this essay include: My Country by Dorothea Mackellar, The Eagle by Alfred Lord Tennyson and Old Man Platypus by Banjo Patterson. The Poem My Country, by Australian poet Dorothea Mackellar, depicts the diverse land of Australia and why she loves it so much. This poem makes me feel lighthearted and it makes me smile through its clever language use to describe the individuality of the platypus. Techniques used in this poem include the use of rhyme, like the two poems previously mentioned. In this poem line one, three and four rhyme and lines two and five also rhyme with each other in each stanza. Also like the two previous poems, Old Man Platypus employs personification. For example the poem gives the platypus the human quality of talking in stanza five he talks in a deep unfriendly growl . Alliteration is used in this poem, like the others, such as in the first line of stanza three: he shares his burrow beneath the bank . Similes are also found in this poem in stanza four where Patterson writes, They sleep like little brown billiard balls . This image of the sleeping platypuses is emphasized by the use of alliteration. Unlike the other two poems mentioned, Patterson uses humor in this poem while he is describing the platypus. For example he playfully refers to the platypus as Old Man Platypus and writes that he descends from a family most exclusive . The use of the word exclusive would not usually be thought of to refer to the ancestry of the platypus and this is where the humorous tone of Patterson s writing comes ... She provided solid evidence by disclosing the touching stories of both her father and the 26 year old patient she works with during summer in her local community. Both of the men testified that if they had the choice between deathand life hey choose death to ease the pain. • 14. Information, Knowledge, And The Dissemination Of... Information, and the dissemination thereof, is based on usefulness. It is the foundation upon which we as humans derive knowledge and understanding from to eventually communicate across platforms and cultures. As it continues to permeate society, the formation, understanding and transmission of information becomes heavily specified and relative to the type of information collected, who it is useful to and how it will be used to generate widespread understanding. This is evidenced in how people seek and use information in their modern daily lives. A widely accepted model of this process comprises itself of the following components: data, information, knowledge, understanding and wisdom to an extent and the synthesis of these components is foundational to understanding how information is relative and consumed in its specificity today (Ackoff, 1989). Using differing arguments to examine differing perspectives, I will seek to establish the place of information within this hierarchy and how it applies to how we establish the use of information as it persists as a standalone concept in today s society. When people determine the usefulness of data to transform it into information and therefore understanding, it is essential to establish a mode by which this occurs. One attempt to do this is evidenced in Russell Ackoff s (1989) article, From Data to Wisdom . As a general argument, Ackoff (1989) seeks to qualify a model consisting of: data, information, knowledge, understanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, a social cost evaluation is best way to measure the repercussions of the policy on Portuguese society because it is congruent with other scholarship on social cost evaluations dealing with substances similar to illicit drugs such as tobacco and alcohol. However, it is not without it s flaws, as pointed out by other scholarship. As previously mentioned, from 2001 through 2005 the number of drugcitations fell, reducing the overall social cost of drug use. Next, as previously proven, policing had a negative cost shift overall due to the NSFAD calling for more funding to go to drug trafficking policing. Local policing costs have not significantly changed, though, meaning that the NSFAD did not augment the amount of police interaction with drug users. Taking into account this information it can be claimed that in terms of the social cost, or the taxpayer burden, the NSFAD has been a mixed bag. What can be positively asserted is that both prison costs and the lost income/productivity of the drug offend has been significantly reduced due to the introduction of decriminalization and CTD s. I find the book s topic compelling because I have always been interested in doing what Kevin does: hacking and working with what makes technology tick. He also opened my eyes to a new culture called phreaking . As I read, the book became even more interesting, as Kevin not only told us what he did; he told us how he did it descriptively. He told us comedic stories about pranks he would pull on businesses with his colleagues, his close run ins with authority, and other tales that made me smile. Along with this were personal problems he encountered, such as his divorce with Bonnie Vitello, and the involvement of the government in his activities online, which made me feel closer to him as ... • 18. Feminism As A Black Woman Feminism means something different to every woman. What feminism means to BeyoncГ© may be different from what it means to Bell Hooks. In Feminism is for Everybody, Hooks defines feminism as, a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression. BeyoncГ© s feminism may be personal to her but the narratives she depicts in Lemonade resonate with her fans. Through the lenses of Hooks, I will examine the lyrics and images of BeyoncГ© s Lemonade by comparing their views on marriage, political liberation, and double standards. Many women are empowered by the words of Bell Hooks. They can also be empowered by BeyoncГ© s lyrics because they affirm and support what their lives have been like. BeyoncГ© uncovers the diversity of black women through history in her video. Visual images of slaves, mothers, young women, and working women combating struggles of being a black woman. In Don t Hurt Yourself, a speech by Malcolm X is inserted where he said, The most neglected person in America is the black woman. Similarly, Hooks wrote about the dismissal of black women in the feminist movement, the utopian vision of sisterhood evoked in a feminist movement that initially did not take racial difference or anti racist struggle seriously. This comparison suggests that both Hooks and BeyoncГ© aim to improve the representation and political liberation of black women by making their narratives heard. • 20. Maintaining Agricultural Farmlands for the World s Growing... As the world population continues to rise, there are growing concerns for maintaining agricultural farmlands, especially in developing countries with drought and famine. This has also led to many shortages of food, due to high demand because of the increasing population. Demographists worry that if this growing issue continues to hurt foodconsumption of povertized countries, than there will be more deaths because the population is increasing, but the food levels are staying the same, or even decreasing. Some of these demographists believe that this is occurring, because the developed countries are intaking too much food. Others believe that this is because of the overpopulated countries, and the fact that they are in higher need for food because of their population. Another problem that arises within this is deforestation. Deforestation is a part of this growing problem because when massive woodlands are cut down, the lands become dry and bodies of water in or around the land dry up, making crops unsuitable for crop growth and crop rotation, leading to the lands to turn into non arable lands. This is also known as desertification. This correlates with population growthbecause if lands become non arable, then crops won t grow there, leading to starvation in developing countries with higher population needs and demands. Although some people are taking action for the problems that this issue has given us, we re still nowhere near solving the problem. This issue is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its categorisation into masculinity and femininity is social constructed and maintained in everyday life (Clark and Page, 2005; Mackie, 1994). Gender identity is our innermost understanding of our self as male or female . Most people develop a gender identity that matched their biological sex (their body). Genderidentity can be affected by, and is different from one society to another, depending on the way the members of society evaluate the role of females and males. Our gender identitycan be influenced from the ethnicity of the group, their cultural background, and family values. • 33. The Affordable Care Act ( Aca ) Essay Introduction One of the goals of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was to reduce healthcare spending in the US (DeMichele, 2015). However, the passage of the ACA has spurred activity that is counter to this goal of decreased spending in the form of increased hospital consolidation which many studies show has led to higher prices. While, there are many other effects of hospital consolidation such as the impact on quality of care or innovation, these topics are beyond the scope of this paper. Why Consolidate? In the hope of better coordinating the care of patients, improving quality and lowering costs, the ACA provides incentives for physicians and hospitals to work together in several ways, such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACO s) or establishing bundled payments for episodes of care (Martin Gaynor, 2012 ) which has spurred consolidation (Becker, Gamble, Rosin, 2015). Additionally, compliance with various federal programs such as Meaningful Use requires a significant investment in technology which can be fiscally challenging for smaller provider groups; driving acquisitions of these smaller entities by larger health systems. Other reasons cited by hospital administrators in the pursuit of consolidation is to ensure a steady stream of physician referrals (NPR, 2010), and to create economies of scale and increased efficiencies, the fruits of which result in reduced costs and therefore cheaper care for patients (ProMarket Writers, 2016). As the play unfolds, Hamlet has to face the difficult task of seeking revenge against his uncle, Claudius, for the murder of his father, King Hamlet. Hamlet has captured audiences and readers for centuries and has caused much inquiry and debate. Shakespeare s Hamlet is a very psychologically complex character. This quote means that Hamlet will study Claudius during the performance of the play, and should he change his behavior, he will know that the Ghost s story was true and he can now take revenge. Even despite the fact .that Hamlet now knows that Claudius killed his father, he still delays his actions. This goes on to show that Hamlet is an intellectual dreamer. Hamlet gets a perfect opportunity to kill Claudius but he neglects to kill him because he is in prayer. Hamlet delays in action of seeking revenge against Claudius when he quotes, Now might I do it(pat,) now he is a praying, and now I ll do it/ And so he goes to heaven/ And so am I(revenged.) That would be scanned: A villan kills my father, and for that/ I, his sole son, do this same villain send to Heaven (Ham. 3.3.77 83). Hamlet s rationale for this was that he assumed Claudius was confessing his sins, and his death would send him to heaven. For Hamlet, taking revenge is just not about killing Claudius, but making sure that he suffers, another deeply thought out belief. Hamlet is too much of a thinker and not enough of an actor. Even when Hamlet is given the opportunity to carry out his intentions, he delays and reasons himself out of it. Hamlet does have an almost excessive desire to reason everything through thoroughly. The development and compilation of different theories such as Rogers communication congruency theory, Maslow s hierarchy of needs, Drucker s motivation theory and Fromm s theory of productive and unproductive behavior (...the name of your game Atkins) build up LIFO, shedding light on how values affect our behavior and form a specific behavioral style. In LIFO the 4 strength based behavioral styles are described (Supporting, Controlling, Conserving and Adapting) in two types of conditions: favorable and unfavorable (Lifo.co, 2016). The model also describes how positive values can become negative, turning from strengths to weaknesses. The Demon Lover, An Analysis Essay In The Demon Lover, by Elizabeth Bowen, Kathleen Drover returns to London from her house in the country in order to gather some things that she and her husband had abandoned during the bombings of the war. It is a humid, rainy day in late August and her once familiar street is now mostly deserted. The caretaker of her house is supposed to be out of town for a week and her arrival is assumed unknown. Mrs. Drover enters the old musty house and discovers a letter addressed to herself and it is marked with the present date. Now, it seems that the demon wants his fianc #233; to keep her promise. Bowen may have chosen to give her the last name of Drover, because a drover is someone who herds animals to market and it seems as though her fate will meet the same demise as the demon takes her away. Mrs. Drovers internal conflict occurred when she did not come through on the promise that she made and now, it seem she can not even recall what the promise was. She is faced with an external conflict as well because she will no longer have her family. She is in the hands of a demon. The third person objective point of view forces the reader to conclude for themself what is really happening. We can not hear her thoughts so it is impossible to know if she really remembers this so called promise. Annika Hagley writes a very convincing argument regarding this theory in her article America s need for superheroes has lead to the rise of Donald Trump. Post 9/11, it has become increasing clear that the issues and values held dear to most Americans are now being portrayed on the big screen. Fighting back at the enemy and uniting as one are some of the messages in the background of superherofilms released after the attacks on the twin towers. Today, the USA is more divided; just like the superheroes that have been on the silver screen in recent months. In continuation, America s allowances for overly violent superheroes and everything said superheroes stand for, are simply just reflections of their own socio political views and values. It is this allowance that has lead to the rise of Donald Trump. Exacting vigilante justice in the name of the greater good has been the message in a handful of superhero movies released in the past the few years. Almost eerily, this action has matched with the United State s agenda, invading the Middle East. Explain The Ideals Of The Declaration Of Independence Ideals of the Declaration of Independence In order to understand the Declaration of Independence, it is necessary to review the actions that took place before the Revolutionary War. Before the Declaration of Independence, the British levied taxes in order to pay the debt piled from the French and Indian War. The colonist who were paying those taxes believed it was unfair to tax without representation. The colonists argued and stated conditions which were then written in an official document. The aspects of equality, right to revolt or abolish, consent of the governed, right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, were reviewed with great thought. However, there are some ideals written in the Declaration of Independence that are more valuable than others. Therefore, the most important ideal written in the document is the right to revolt or abolish. After the Revolutionary war, many countries were influenced by the Declaration of Independence. During the year of 1989, protesters and students from a Chinese university crowded Tiananmen Square in Beijing. • 49. The Recognition Of Indian And Transgender Identity Essay The Recognition of Indian and Transgender Identity There are various groups throughout the United State and globally that continue to be treated as though they are not who they say they are. Indian and transgender individuals, while very different, face similar identity issues. Both groups have faced and continue to face issues regarding their identity and whether or not they can be legally recognized for who they are. Indian tribes such as the Navajo have blood quantum laws preventing anyone with less than a quarter Navajo blood from registering with their tribe. This means that they are unable to be legally recognized as an Indian, despite having Indian ancestors. In comparison, the transgender community is facing legal issues with a new bill in North Carolina and Mississippi that requires them to use the bathroom of the gender they were born into. In addition to this, it takes away legal protection for people who identify as LGBT, allowing for legal discrimination. The percent of people who identify as transgender is 0.3% in the United States as of 2011. (How Many People Are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender?). The percent of Indians in the United States as of 2013 is two percent, or 5.2 million (Facts for Features: American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month: November 2014).
