General Mining Act Research Paper
The General Mining Act of 1872 encourages people and companies to prospect for minerals on
federally owned land. This encourages US citizens and businesses to stake a claim on the plot of land
and patent the claim for about $5 per acre. (Withgott) Until recently, there was no requirement to
restore the land after mining. Several mining techniques have been used over the years. From strip
mining, subsurface mining to open pit, placer, and mountaintop mining.
Strip mining is a process where layers of surface soil and rock are removed and exposed. The
overlaying soil called, overburden is set aside while the resource is extracted. Once completed, the
overburden is then refilled, and the process begins again on another strip of land. Strip mining ...

Miners systematically removed the resource and ship it to the surface. Subsurface mining is generally
done for metals such as zinc, lead, nickel, tin, gold, copper and uranium. Subsurface mining is
extremely dangerous due to natural gas explosions, which can cause shafts and tunnels to collapse.
Open pit mining is used when a resource is spread out in a rock formation. An enormous hole is dug,
and the source is then removed. Open Pit mining is generally used for mining for gold, diamonds,
coal, copper and other resources. This method consumes a large amount of habitat that becomes lost.
Once mining is completed the pit will generally fill up with water.
Placer mining uses water to separate mud and gravel from mineral of value. The disruption of ancient
riverbeds is very harsh and environmentally destructive causing debris to be deposited into streams
and making them uninhabitable for fish or other life forms for many miles downstream. This method
is very similar to the Gold rush days in California in1849, that the practice was halted in 1884. The
disruption of stream banks, high erosion, and harming ecological plant communities makes this one of
the worst forms of

Essay on Thorntons Case Study.Doc
CASE STUDY THORNTONS PLC Introduction In September 2003 Thorntons, the Uk s largest
manufacturer and retailer of specialist chocolates, completed a three year planning period aimed at
achieving a turnaround in the company s performance. While company turnover had been increased to
£167m (= €250m) providing Thorntons with an 8 percent share of its core market, boxed chocolates,
profit after tax had declined to the lowest level for seven years (Exhibit 1). During that time Thorntons
had set out to follow a series of strategic initiatives involving the reorientation of the company
towards becoming a retail focused business, increasing the scale of the company s manufacturing and
retailing operations and developments that would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The demand for Thorntons boxed chocolates follows a strongly seasonal pattern: 35 percent of sales
are in the seven week period before Christmas, a further 10 percent are for Easter, including three
million Easter eggs. The combination of providing a fresh product together with the need to meet a
seasonal pattern of demand places particular pressures upon the company s manufacturing facilities. A
proportion of the Christmas product is produced several months in advance, maintaining freshness
through chilled storage. However, Thorntons chocolates are enrobed in chocolate, rather than
moulded. Their hand made appearance makes the process of packing boxed chocolates less open to
automation than is the case for moulded chocolates (with their more uniform shape an size) produced
by companies such as Cadburys. The seasonal demand for packing staff requires the increased use of
casual workers, with consequent falls in efficiency. Seasonal demand also requires the use of
temporary staff in the retail outlets to meet a sales pattern that can within a few days increase tenfold;
typically the company sells £10m of chocolate in the last 72 hours of Christmas trading. At times the
company has sold icecream (self manufactured or bought in) as an attempt to offset the effect of low,
off season, chocolate sales. In certain respects Thorntons strategy, with its

Aspects Of Romanticism As Described By Wolfson And Manning
Aspects of Romanticism as Described by Wolfson and Manning
The period in time between 1785 and 1835 in Europe has come to be known in literature as the
Romantic Period. The Romantic Period was shaped by the eruption of a new social order and the
rights of man rather than the control from the wealthy and privileged. There were arguments for and
against the rights of women, debates over the abolition of Britain s slave trade and of slavery in it
colonies, movements for social and political remedies for the poor; and a newly emergent class
consciousness among discontented workers in Britain s fields, mines, factories, and mills (Wolfson 8).
During this time, many poems, sonnets and novels emerged as a way for writers to express their
feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aspects of Romanticism that these poems reflect are imagination, nature, and the movement
towards liberty and equality. Wolfson and Manning described the significance of imagination in The
Romantics and their Contemporaries , In this vibrant culture of new imaginative possibilities,
Imagination itself became a subject of reflection, and often debate (Wolfson 8). The poem Kubla Khan
, shows the importance of imagination in romantic literature. The enchanted dreams and inspired
visions that Wolfson and Manning describe are shown many times throughout Kubla Khan, when the
author is describing his dream And mid these dancing rocks at once and ever, It flung up momentarily
the sacred river (Coleridge 670). Nature was also a significant and reoccurring theme during the
Romantic Period. Writers tended to focus on the educational aspects that nature could provide to the
reader. Wordsworth describes his opinion on the importance of nature and its educational value it
holds in his poem The Tables Turned . Books! tis a dull and endless strife, Come, hear the woodland
linnet, How sweet his music; on my life, There s more of wisdom in it (Wordsworth 427). Wordsworth
s reply suggests that he doesn t need books to learn, he is letting

College Experience In College
After high school ends, most young people take the track to college. The college experience can be
both exciting yet scary. There are so many new adjustments to make and there s a whole lot more
responsibility on your shoulders as an adult. However, there s no need to stress out about the process.
As you begin your collegiate career, it s best to remember a few key tips to be successful. Implement
these tips as soon as you possibly can and they will serve you well in your college years.
1. Maintain an income stream.
Many people will discourage you from working during your first semester in college. The intentions
are well meaning. They don t want you to struggle with juggling work and school at the same time.
However, college is your first opportunity into the real world. In the real world, adults have to take
care of themselves. If you have a car, you re going to need to purchase gas. If you ever want to fly
home for the holiday breaks, you re going to need to purchase a plane ticket. You ll also need toiletries
and necessities for daily living. In this case, it s wise to maintain a simple part time job or side hustle.
Whether the side hustle involves babysitting once or twice a week, freelance writing gigs or working
in the cafeteria at school, make sure you have a way to earn a bit of money on a consistent basis.
2. Develop a morning ritual.
The morning is the the time when you have the most control. As the day goes on, things happen and
your schedule gets crowded.

Smuggling Of Nuclear Material Essay
Smuggling of Nuclear Material
Over the past five years the former states of the Soviet Union haven t been able to prevent the leakage
of nuclear material. Nuclear materials and technologies are more accessible now than at any other
time in history, due to the breakup of the Soviet Union and the worsening of economic conditions. No
longer does the Soviet KGB, the Soviet military and the Soviet border guards have the control to stop
the smuggling of nuclear material s. With the Cold War being over, there is a huge stockpile of over
100 nuclear sites (See Appendix A).
Russia, alone has an inventory of 1,300 tons of highly enriched uranium (HEU), and 165 tons of
weapon usable plutonium. Such material is coming into high demand on the ... Show more content on

He was apparently motivated by an article on the fortune in selling HEU. On October 9, 1992 he was
apprehended at a Podolsk railroad. Under Article 223 he was sentenced for three years.
The largest quantity of weapon usuable nuclear material smuggled outside
Russia was found in Prague, Czech Republic on Dec. 14, 1994. Two canisters of
HEU enriched to 87.79% U 235 was found in the car of Jaroslav Vagner. Vagner had worked at several
power stations at Dukovany and Temelin and he left due to poor wages. His arrest came, due to an
anonymous telephone tip.
The list of potential proliferations exist in the state, separatist and terrorist groups and organize crime.
Many countries are looking for critical components for their nuclear weapons program. Finding a
material would shorten the time in producing a nuclear weapon. For instance, Iran is actively pursuing
nuclear weapon capability. They re attempting to develop both plutonium and HEC.
In 1992 Iran unsuccessfully approached the Ulba Metallurgical Plant and in 1993 three Iranians
belonging to intelligence service were arrested in Turkey while seeking to acquire smuggled nuclear
material. The CIA, John Deutch estimates: ³
Iran is a couple of years away from producing a nuclear weapon.²

Zoos Persuasive Essay
Imagine being captive for life. In a cage locked up when your so innocent. Zoos have become a
controversial issue in our society, and from what I am thinking, I feel that it s not right to keep the
animals in zoos. So do we have the rights to do that? Generally every body has been to a zoo at least
once in their life, I m sure you can remember when you were a kid adoring animals behind glass. But
you were missing the point the big picture.
Animals need freedom it s like being locked in a jail cell. Animals can t do there wild life features

on the animals the exhibits animals are put in are often much smaller than their original habitat. ...

We shouldn t put animals lower than us because we are all a part of nature. too harsh to take these
animals from their own family and habitat just so we can have an hour of entertainment on the
weekends. From my point of view, it s just not fair. Plus another reason to add to this is the harambe
incident. May 28 2016 Peter singer and Karen Dawn professor of bioethics stated a child was curious
and a gorilla got shot . A four year old child climbed past a barricade and fell into a moat the gorilla
grabbed the little boy and dragged him around and easily could of cracked his head or drowned. The
zoo officials shot harambe as the only way to guarantee the child s safety. This incident caused a lot of
rage for the parents and people to the zoo. This would not happen If harambe was caged up, he simply
didn t even know, he sees something new in his cage and of course he s gonna play with it. Think of it
this way what if you were in a jail cell and a new person arrived there wouldn t you wanna talk to him

Progeria And Eukaryotic Analysis
Progeria is a rare disease that affects the nuclear envelope (lamina), and makes the nucleus unstable. It
is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene that produces an abnormal protein. This abnormal protein
is called progerin, and it causes the process of premature ageing in an individual.
Eukaryotic cells contain a sphere shaped nucleus that protects the genetic information (DNA) and
separates it from the cytoplasm. The nucleus itself is protected by a double membrane called, the
nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope is made up of nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and
nuclear pore complexes. The nuclear lamina is the sturdy protein that gives the nucleus its structure
and shape. As well as providing structural support, the nuclear lamina is required for most nuclear
activities, such as chromatin organization, DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, nuclear positioning
within the cell, assembly/disassembly of the nucleus during cell division, as well as for modulating
master regulatory genes and signaling pathways. (Baek, McKenna, Eriksson; 2013) The ability of the
cell to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Progeria Research Foundation; 2003) Normally, the amino acid produced is lamin A, but when
progerin is produced it gains a high liking for the nuclear membrane, causing disruptions to the
nuclear lamina. Without lamin A, the nuclear lamina cannot provide the structural support for the
nuclear envelope, causing it to take on an abnormal shape. This causes a huge strain for cell division;
without the support that the nuclear lamina usually provides, the organization of chromatin for mitosis
is disrupted and cell division is limited. When cells use progerin, they start to break down easier.
Progerin builds up in many cells of the individuals, causing them to grow up faster than normal.
Because of this the rate of ageing is 8 10 times faster than

Vietnam After The Saigon Fall 1975
Vietnam After the Saigon Fall 1975
Overview
Many books, magazine articles, and papers have been written about the Vietnam war and its
consequences, but most are written from the perspective of an outsider looking in without actually
living in Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Few reporters ever came back to Vietnam to live
there and describe day to day life in Vietnam after the war. Under the control of Communist rulers and
an embargo from the US, Vietnam was almost isolated from the western world between 1975 and the
very late eighties (one can recognize a similar pattern in North Korea now). Western reporters were
not welcome or even permitted to enter Vietnam for reporting purposes without an agreement from
government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The situation in Vietnam closely parallels that of the current situation in North Korea, and
demonstrates why it is very hard to find good published reliable sources about that country: officially,
none exist. The only reliable source of information about North Korea one can find is from the
experience of the people who have survived and escaped from North Korea; reports from its
government are simply propaganda.
Introduction
Vietnam lies along the eastern coast of the Indochina peninsula in an S shape. It is about 1,650 km
long and is from 50 to 560 km wide. Its area is about 329,560 sq. km slightly larger than Mexico (CIA
World Factbook). It is bordered on the north by China and the west by Laos and Cambodia. With a
population of more than 81 million, Vietnam is one of the 15 most highly populated countries in the
world. It is also one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia with many problems like pollution,
uneven population distribution, and a very fragile economic infrastructure.
History
According to archaeological discoveries, around the fourth millennium BC and during the Bronze Age
the first Vietnamese civilization, called Lac Viet (People of the Valley) was established in northern
Vietnam. Lac Viet reached its prime in the third century BC before it was conquered by the Chinese
ruling Han Dynasty in 207 BC (Booz 20). For the next thousand years Vietnam was

Boxer, Philanthropist And Social Activist Muhammad Ali
Boxer, philanthropist and social activist Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on
January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky. Ali showed at an early age that he wasn t afraid of any bout
inside or outside of the ring. Growing up in the segregated South, he experienced racial prejudice and
discrimination firsthand, which likely contributed to his early passion for boxing. At the age of 12, Ali
discovered his talent for boxing through an odd twist of fate. His bike was stolen, and Ali told a police

Friedel-Crafts Acylation Lab Report
The Friedel Crafts acylation reaction is an important and valuable electrophilic aromatic substitution
reaction. First introduced in 1912 by Charles Friedel and James M. Crafts, this reaction allows large
multi step reactions to take place, and creates numerous types of products.1 Today, Friedel Crafts
reactions are among the most used electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions. In the electrophilic
aromatic substitution class of reactions, functional groups are substituted onto an aromatic ring.2
Products such as ketones, hydrocarbons and phenols, phenol ethers, and keto acids can be produced by
electrophilic aromatic substitution.1 These products can then undergo other reactions, allowing for the
creation of many types of products. The products acquired can be used for a range of purposes, such as
pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, etcetera.3 In particular, Friedel Crafts acylation reactions result in a
product containing a ketone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The functional group added during a Friedel Crafts acylation reaction, deactivates the ring, resulting in
a mono substituted ring rather that a poly substituted ring, which is produced from a Friedel Crafts

ring instead of yielding a product containing a ketone. To obtain the ketone product, an acyl group is
added to an aromatic ring. However, for this reaction to take place, no electron withdrawing groups
can be present on the aromatic ring, and an acyl halide must be used to obtain the acyl cation.5 These
limitations are met, in the Friedel Crafts acylation reaction of anisole with acetyl

Under the fourth amendment, Police do not need a warrant for a search if probable cause is there.
(Schmalleger, 2012).The search and seizure are made under the reasonable cause. For instance, For
example, A police officer makes a routine traffic stop of a vehicle to site the driver for speeding and
smells alcohol when he talks with the driver, then the officer has probable cause to search the vehicle
for more illegal things without a warrant (Schmalleger, 2012)
The officers have the right to search in the case of plain view doctrine (Schmalleger, 2012). It can be
understood with an example; if an officer goes to a doctor for assistance or medical help and during
the process, he sees drugs; in this situation, he can legally forfeit him and make an arrest at the
moment. The plain view doctrine applies under legal circumstances and in the places where the police
officers have a valid right. All these searchers and reasons are persuasive and influential (Schmalleger,

negatively by giving us evidence and statistics behind global warming in such a way that will

Most skeptics of climate change argue that either climate change is not real or that it is too late to do
anything about it. Climate change is real and it is a fact known by all, but as inconvenient truth
explained a small group opposed because they stand to lose, if we were to change our habits. Al Gore
gave us some numbers in inconvenient truth, it was was a poll about how many scientist believe that
global warming is real, and they asked over a 1000 scientist. Out of the 1000, zero said that climate
change was not real, and it makes sense we have large amount of data such as temperature reports,
CO2 analyzers, rising sea levels , and among other things that all point a global warming to be real.
This small group of deniers are people who work for big companies that benefit from selling the
product that contribute to global warming. In the movie Al gore gave an example of the guy who
worked at the bush administration, and was head of environmental policies. He would edit out all the
reports that scientist would write so that they would sound unsure of whether or not global warming
was real. When the scandal came to light and was fired, he got a job the next day at ExxonMobil an oil
company. It is people like this that you see on media all time, arguing that global warming is not real,
when all the science point the other, but media reaches far, and that is how doubt is formed about this
subject. The other arguments that the skeptics used was that it was too late to change course, but this is
also false. Inconvenient truth has showed that we could reverse the amount of CO2 in the air if we use
electricity and devices efficiently, electric cars, renewables. If we do all this we could reverse the
increasing CO2 levels in the air. It is not too late to do something about global

Sugar Dissolving In Water Lab Report
When the sugar and salt are dissolved in the water, sugar has to dissolve in water faster than salt does.
Because the sugar molecules are bigger than the salt ions. So there will be more molecules are
surrounding. But in our experiment, there are some systematic errors. Because each time the small
spoonful of sugar and salt which dissolve into the water will not have the same mass. There are other
systematic errors. For example, using inaccurate equipment which is scale. If the scale was not
accurate, the mass of salt and sugar which were used in the lab would not be accurate. And the mass
will affect the melting point time change. There are also some random errors. The speed of string the
sugar and salt in order to make them dissolve into the water will cause the dissolving time. There is
some limitation. The room temperature is one of them. The room temperature will affect the
observation and the reaction of when heating the substance. The melting point will be changed.

Negative Impacts Of Landfills
Impacts of Landfills Impacts on the environment Landfills dumping can disrupt natural processes on
land and in the water. Dumping can interfere with proper drainage of runoff. Areas are more
susceptible to flooding when waste blocks 6 ravines, creeks, culverts, and drainage basins. In rural
areas, burning at dump sites can cause forest fires and severe erosion as fires burn away trees and
undergrowth. The run off from improper disposal of toxic substances such as motor oil or household
cleansers can contaminate lakes, streams, and drinking water supplies. Dumping also has a negative
impact on plants and wildlife. Many birds and small animals die after ingesting or becoming entangled
in debris. Fish and other aquatic species are killed when decomposing litter and food wastes in streams
deplete oxygen supplies in the water. Refuse in a stream can also clog fish spawning areas. Dumped
appliances are not only an eyesore, but can also release toxic chemicals. Refrigerators and freezers
may release chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) into the air, harming the earth s protective ozone layer.
Improperly discarded appliances built before 1979 may also leak polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
into the soil. According to the EPA, PCBs can cause cancer, reproductive failure and hormone

Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily...
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle
child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood
consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and
play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not
unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended
Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount
Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and
relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and
immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case,
no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes
frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the
persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well
known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I
died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a
tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars
estimate ranged from 1858 1865. These

The Importance And Influence Of The Romanesque Era
Taking a journey through the historical time line of the past, it is clear to see that change occurs. Some
periods illustrate more change than others, some of them are of greater influence than the period
before it, and then there are those that are not only influential from an art perspective, but also from
the perspective of the styles ability to spread across a whole region. A period that specifically
displayed this capability was the Romanesque era. The Romanesque era was a period in time which
was actually not based on the premise of geographical location or political stance, but more on the
premise of the artistry and architectural design during that time (Kleiner, 2014). It is suggested that the
influence of the Romanesque artistic styles was largely due to the volume of pilgrimages that were
taking place in search of sacred cover and the outcome of the crusades during this time (Petzold,
2017). This era did not only provide one influential style across the region, but many such as, church
architecture, architectural structures, sculptures, paintings, and decorations; all of which can be
considered Romanesque art (Kleiner, 2014). Of the Romanesque era, each piece of art even from
different countries of origin were affected by the economy, politics, and religious influence or concern,
yet regardless each had a unique presence that represented the Romanesque period. One of the
potential biggest influences over the Romanesque period and its style was largely due to the

Apathetic Nature In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s play, the Tempest, there are several actions and descriptions that reveal insight into
the personalities of each character. One of the most potent tools used in the play is noise. Noise, and
the perception of noise sheds, a different light on the subtleties of each character. It reveals
characteristics that contradict their written descriptions and often provides insight into the mindset of
the characters. Through the use of harsh sounds and solemn music, Prospero reveals his apathetic
nature towards the Europeans. This apathetic nature is a result of selfishness because Prospero wants
his daughter wed. In the beginning, he commands Ariel to conjure a tempest upon the ship. The are
several terrifying noises that associate with this violent storm. These include the sounds of winds, the
splashing water, the roaring thunder, and in this case the splitting of wood. According to one of the
mariners, We split, we split (1.1.57)! The sounds insue panic among the passengers and hints at their
possible death. The chaotic sounds caused by a raging storm is the method in which Prospero
psychologically manipulates the Europeans. Besides manipulation, the storm acts as a way of
releasing trapped anger towards the men on the ship. Prospero did not harm any of the Europeans, but
anger and apathy are evident because he commands his daughter tell you piteous heart/There s no
harm done (1.2.13 14).

Keep the big wild hogs out of my path. Don t let none of those come running my direction. I got a

Eudora Welty displays Phoenix s personality through the setting and symbolism.
In the beginning of the story, the reader is introduced to our main character Phoenix Jackson. She is
described as a small, old Negro woman. The name Eudora Welty gives the main character is
emblematic, it evokes images of the mythical bird which rises from the flames and regenerates. The
story of the mythical creature is that it lives for five centuries before burning to ashes, and then
afterward, it rises back up to life as a young bird from the ashes to complete a continuous cycle.

Essay on Haydn and Mozart
Between the years 1782 and 1785, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote six string quartets which were
dedicated to his friend and fellow composer, Joseph Haydn. These quartets, known as the Haydn
Quartets, were among Mozart s first six masterpieces in the medium (Keller, 64). In composing these
works, Mozart was inspired by Haydn s recently published Opus 33, which is also a set of six string
quartets. When Haydn wrote his Opus 33 in 1781, it was the first time he had written for the string
quartet in a period of ten years. With the six pieces of Opus 33, Haydn established a style of chamber
music that he described as being in an entirely new, very special manner (Pauly, 45). At the same time,
it had also been nearly 10 years since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The royalty of the time was especially interested in having small instrumental groups play at their
social gatherings and official events. The music of these small groups was known as chamber music,
because it was usually meant to be performed in a royal patron s private chambers (Rosenstiel, 547).
In order to suit the tastes of the aristocracy, this type of music was generally light and elegant. Both
Mozart and Haydn were masters of the classical style. Haydn, born 24 years before Mozart, was an
innovator in the development of the style. Mozart followed Haydn s lead and went even further by
becoming a true master of classical forms. Mozart s works also show a strong sense of emotion, which
adds to their power.
Haydn wrote more than 80 string quartets during his long career. By the early 1770s, the four
movement format was standardized in Haydn s quartets (548). After an exciting first movement in
sonata allegro form, Haydn often used a minuet for the second movement. The third movement was
usually a slow piece and the fourth movement was usually another up tempo form like the first
movement. This order of movements differed from the traditional order, in which the second
movement was a slow piece and the third movement was a minuet. By changing the order, Haydn
expressed an element of the classical style, because the four movements are balanced in terms of their
expressive weight (Rosen, 280).

Descriptive Essay On Skiing
Skiing the Slopes The last minute, go to vacation place Colorado. A destination my family has relied
on for many family vacations. The earliest memory that I have of Colorado takes place at the age of
maybe three or four years old, and we went there two years in a row on a skiing trip at the Monarch
Mountain Ski Resort with my mom s side of the family. There was a bunch of people crammed into
two cabins in the mountains. One cabin held me, my parents, my sister Matlyn, grandparents, aunts,
uncles, and cousins. While the cabin across the river held my grandpa s brother, his wife, kids, and
grandkids.
Being not old enough to ski by myself, I was required to take a skiing class. For half the day we skied,
and then were in a daycare for the rest. It was AWFUL! The daycare part, not the skiing. A girl there
who was quite fond of stealing my toys and snacks still haunts my memories of that place. She should
know not to take a girls snack. The best part of that vacation was when we went back the next year,
and grabbed a brochure/map and there was a picture of me on it from the year before. In the picture I
was all bundled up in my coat and the scarf that my mom made for me, and wearing oversized ski
goggles that covered my whole face, and beside me was my ski instructor. I WAS FAMOUS!
The next time that we were in Colorado, we went to Estes Park and rented a small house to stay in for
a week. The owners lived right next door and had a daughter who was about my age and had

This process will be long and arduous for you. In my opinion, this marks a transition in the
relationship with your sons. Prior to the process, you led and guided your child. After the process, you

to look. They will be receiving tons of information and you may need to help them sift through it. Talk

Plus Size Women
In my opinion, we need not discuss a reconciliation of sorts regarding the greater degree of acceptance
of plus size women with the parallel emphasis our society continues to place on thinness because I
think that comparison would be based upon approval versus acceptance. My reasoning is this, images
where media now portrays plus size women in a positive light and encourages society to accept plus
size as beautiful, does not encourage/approve of the health problems associated with obesity. We can
find the beauty in all people. Size does not determine whether or not someone is a loving, caring, kind,
or beautiful person; therefore, the mindset that these images should not be accepted due to health
problems is foolish to me. Let us look ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, when people feel accepted, they feel better about themselves. Accepting a person
because they are plus size does not necessarily encourage them to live an unhealthy lifestyle. In fact,
these women may feel more confident and actually take the initiative to get active, and not because
they are chasing the need to feel accepted, but because they are less self conscious and able to walk
out in public without feeling inferior due to lowered self esteem. As we know, self esteem influences
consumer behavior (Solomon, 2017). Social media is providing a platform for plus size women to
have a voice. There are so many plus size models and bloggers that have created pages strictly built to
encourage and empower women who may feel like they do not fit society s mode. Social media has
brought about a self acceptance to the masses. It allows consumers to voice their stance, which often
times expresses the way many others feel, and set a tone to make changes. For example, a blogger Jes
Baker, also known as Militant Baker, posted a letter to Abercrombie Fitch regarding his sizeism.
(Katz, 2015). Her voice was heard throughout social media. Hence, social media is impacting beauty

Price Elasticity Of Demand Between All Nike Shoes
This article will focus on the comparison of price elasticity of demand between all Nike shoes sold in
Canada and all breads sold in Canada. I argue that all Nike shoes sold in Canada have a higher price
elasticity of demand than all breads sold in Canada due to three factors: the availability of substitute
goods, necessity and percentage of income.
The first factor is the availability of substitute goods, which are goods that can be utilized instead of
the original good. If there is a substitute good available, the demand is likely to change more because
people can buy different products. On the contrary, if an item has few substitute goods, it may not gain
or lose customers. In Canada, Nike shoes have lots of substitute goods like Adidas ... Show more

If the product coast a large percentage of the average consumer s income, people will pay more
attention to sale prices because they may be afraid of a fact that if the price keeps rising, they can t
afford it because it is expensive and costs most of their income. It is common that we spend more than
$200 on one pair of Nike shoes, which are quite expensive. However, the price of bread is low.
Furthermore, one pair of Nike shoes costs more percentage of clients income than a piece of bread. If
the price declines, people would like to buy more Nike shoes because they can t afford it in normal
time. However, people won t buy too much bread than before because the bread may go rancid
quickly. So people are more sensitive to the price of Nike shoes. As a consequence, all Nike shoes sold
in Canada have more elasticity than all bread sold in Canada.
Unlike the price elasticity of demand, the price elasticity of supply plays an important role on how
producers respond to the change in price. I argue that all bread sold in Canada has more elasticity than
all shoes sold in Canada owning to three main factors, which are the availability of raw materials,
length and complexity of production and mobility of factors.
First, the availability of raw materials has an influence on raw materials because for more available
goods, producers are always more willing to increase production

In the table below a number of arguments for and against a single European currency have been

Pros and cons
The United Kingdom will not join the single European currency with the first wave of countries on 1
January 1999. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, said in October that, although the
government supported the principle of the single currency, Britain would not be ready to join at least
until the second wave of countries join in 2002. He added that the UK should, however, begin to
prepare for monetary union.
There are many possible advantages and disadvantages that the government had to consider:
Advantages:
1. A single currency should end currency instability in the participating countries (by irrevocably
fixing exchange rates) and reduce it outside them. Because the Euro would have the enhanced
credibility of being used in a large currency zone, it would be more stable against speculation than
individual currencies are now. An end to internal currency instability and a reduction of external
currency instability would enable exporters to project future markets with greater certainty. This will
unleash a greater potential for growth.
2. Consumers would not have to change money when travelling and would encounter less red tape
when transferring large sums of money across borders. It was estimated that a traveller visiting all
twelve member states of the (then) EC would lose 40% of the value of his money in transaction

  • 2. General Mining Act Research Paper The General Mining Act of 1872 encourages people and companies to prospect for minerals on federally owned land. This encourages US citizens and businesses to stake a claim on the plot of land and patent the claim for about $5 per acre. (Withgott) Until recently, there was no requirement to restore the land after mining. Several mining techniques have been used over the years. From strip mining, subsurface mining to open pit, placer, and mountaintop mining. Strip mining is a process where layers of surface soil and rock are removed and exposed. The overlaying soil called, overburden is set aside while the resource is extracted. Once completed, the overburden is then refilled, and the process begins again on another strip of land. Strip mining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Miners systematically removed the resource and ship it to the surface. Subsurface mining is generally done for metals such as zinc, lead, nickel, tin, gold, copper and uranium. Subsurface mining is extremely dangerous due to natural gas explosions, which can cause shafts and tunnels to collapse. Open pit mining is used when a resource is spread out in a rock formation. An enormous hole is dug, and the source is then removed. Open Pit mining is generally used for mining for gold, diamonds, coal, copper and other resources. This method consumes a large amount of habitat that becomes lost. Once mining is completed the pit will generally fill up with water. Placer mining uses water to separate mud and gravel from mineral of value. The disruption of ancient riverbeds is very harsh and environmentally destructive causing debris to be deposited into streams and making them uninhabitable for fish or other life forms for many miles downstream. This method is very similar to the Gold rush days in California in1849, that the practice was halted in 1884. The disruption of stream banks, high erosion, and harming ecological plant communities makes this one of the worst forms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Thorntons Case Study.Doc CASE STUDY THORNTONS PLC Introduction In September 2003 Thorntons, the Uk s largest manufacturer and retailer of specialist chocolates, completed a three year planning period aimed at achieving a turnaround in the company s performance. While company turnover had been increased to £167m (= €250m) providing Thorntons with an 8 percent share of its core market, boxed chocolates, profit after tax had declined to the lowest level for seven years (Exhibit 1). During that time Thorntons had set out to follow a series of strategic initiatives involving the reorientation of the company towards becoming a retail focused business, increasing the scale of the company s manufacturing and retailing operations and developments that would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The demand for Thorntons boxed chocolates follows a strongly seasonal pattern: 35 percent of sales are in the seven week period before Christmas, a further 10 percent are for Easter, including three million Easter eggs. The combination of providing a fresh product together with the need to meet a seasonal pattern of demand places particular pressures upon the company s manufacturing facilities. A proportion of the Christmas product is produced several months in advance, maintaining freshness through chilled storage. However, Thorntons chocolates are enrobed in chocolate, rather than moulded. Their hand made appearance makes the process of packing boxed chocolates less open to automation than is the case for moulded chocolates (with their more uniform shape an size) produced by companies such as Cadburys. The seasonal demand for packing staff requires the increased use of casual workers, with consequent falls in efficiency. Seasonal demand also requires the use of temporary staff in the retail outlets to meet a sales pattern that can within a few days increase tenfold; typically the company sells £10m of chocolate in the last 72 hours of Christmas trading. At times the company has sold icecream (self manufactured or bought in) as an attempt to offset the effect of low, off season, chocolate sales. In certain respects Thorntons strategy, with its ... • 4. Aspects Of Romanticism As Described By Wolfson And Manning Aspects of Romanticism as Described by Wolfson and Manning The period in time between 1785 and 1835 in Europe has come to be known in literature as the Romantic Period. The Romantic Period was shaped by the eruption of a new social order and the rights of man rather than the control from the wealthy and privileged. There were arguments for and against the rights of women, debates over the abolition of Britain s slave trade and of slavery in it colonies, movements for social and political remedies for the poor; and a newly emergent class consciousness among discontented workers in Britain s fields, mines, factories, and mills (Wolfson 8). During this time, many poems, sonnets and novels emerged as a way for writers to express their feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aspects of Romanticism that these poems reflect are imagination, nature, and the movement towards liberty and equality. Wolfson and Manning described the significance of imagination in The Romantics and their Contemporaries , In this vibrant culture of new imaginative possibilities, Imagination itself became a subject of reflection, and often debate (Wolfson 8). The poem Kubla Khan , shows the importance of imagination in romantic literature. The enchanted dreams and inspired visions that Wolfson and Manning describe are shown many times throughout Kubla Khan, when the author is describing his dream And mid these dancing rocks at once and ever, It flung up momentarily the sacred river (Coleridge 670). Nature was also a significant and reoccurring theme during the Romantic Period. Writers tended to focus on the educational aspects that nature could provide to the reader. Wordsworth describes his opinion on the importance of nature and its educational value it holds in his poem The Tables Turned . Books! tis a dull and endless strife, Come, hear the woodland linnet, How sweet his music; on my life, There s more of wisdom in it (Wordsworth 427). Wordsworth s reply suggests that he doesn t need books to learn, he is letting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. College Experience In College After high school ends, most young people take the track to college. The college experience can be both exciting yet scary. There are so many new adjustments to make and there s a whole lot more responsibility on your shoulders as an adult. However, there s no need to stress out about the process. As you begin your collegiate career, it s best to remember a few key tips to be successful. Implement these tips as soon as you possibly can and they will serve you well in your college years. 1. Maintain an income stream. Many people will discourage you from working during your first semester in college. The intentions are well meaning. They don t want you to struggle with juggling work and school at the same time. However, college is your first opportunity into the real world. In the real world, adults have to take care of themselves. If you have a car, you re going to need to purchase gas. If you ever want to fly home for the holiday breaks, you re going to need to purchase a plane ticket. You ll also need toiletries and necessities for daily living. In this case, it s wise to maintain a simple part time job or side hustle. Whether the side hustle involves babysitting once or twice a week, freelance writing gigs or working in the cafeteria at school, make sure you have a way to earn a bit of money on a consistent basis. 2. Develop a morning ritual. The morning is the the time when you have the most control. As the day goes on, things happen and your schedule gets crowded. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No longer does the Soviet KGB, the Soviet military and the Soviet border guards have the control to stop the smuggling of nuclear material s. With the Cold War being over, there is a huge stockpile of over 100 nuclear sites (See Appendix A). Two canisters of HEU enriched to 87.79% U 235 was found in the car of Jaroslav Vagner. Vagner had worked at several power stations at Dukovany and Temelin and he left due to poor wages. His arrest came, due to an anonymous telephone tip. The list of potential proliferations exist in the state, separatist and terrorist groups and organize crime. • 9. Progeria And Eukaryotic Analysis Progeria is a rare disease that affects the nuclear envelope (lamina), and makes the nucleus unstable. It is caused by a mutation in the LMNA gene that produces an abnormal protein. This abnormal protein is called progerin, and it causes the process of premature ageing in an individual. Eukaryotic cells contain a sphere shaped nucleus that protects the genetic information (DNA) and separates it from the cytoplasm. The nucleus itself is protected by a double membrane called, the nuclear envelope. The nuclear envelope is made up of nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and nuclear pore complexes. The nuclear lamina is the sturdy protein that gives the nucleus its structure and shape. As well as providing structural support, the nuclear lamina is required for most nuclear activities, such as chromatin organization, DNA replication, cell cycle regulation, nuclear positioning within the cell, assembly/disassembly of the nucleus during cell division, as well as for modulating master regulatory genes and signaling pathways. (Progeria Research Foundation; 2003) Normally, the amino acid produced is lamin A, but when progerin is produced it gains a high liking for the nuclear membrane, causing disruptions to the nuclear lamina. Without lamin A, the nuclear lamina cannot provide the structural support for the nuclear envelope, causing it to take on an abnormal shape. This causes a huge strain for cell division; without the support that the nuclear lamina usually provides, the organization of chromatin for mitosis is disrupted and cell division is limited. When cells use progerin, they start to break down easier. Progerin builds up in many cells of the individuals, causing them to grow up faster than normal. Few reporters ever came back to Vietnam to live there and describe day to day life in Vietnam after the war. Under the control of Communist rulers and an embargo from the US, Vietnam was almost isolated from the western world between 1975 and the very late eighties (one can recognize a similar pattern in North Korea now). She was the middle child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and immortality. Some periods illustrate more change than others, some of them are of greater influence than the period before it, and then there are those that are not only influential from an art perspective, but also from the perspective of the styles ability to spread across a whole region. A period that specifically displayed this capability was the Romanesque era. The Romanesque era was a period in time which was actually not based on the premise of geographical location or political stance, but more on the premise of the artistry and architectural design during that time (Kleiner, 2014). It is suggested that the influence of the Romanesque artistic styles was largely due to the volume of pilgrimages that were taking place in search of sacred cover and the outcome of the crusades during this time (Petzold, 2017). This era did not only provide one influential style across the region, but many such as, church architecture, architectural structures, sculptures, paintings, and decorations; all of which can be considered Romanesque art (Kleiner, 2014). The malware attacks and disrupts a Microsoft Windows based application that is employed by a particular ICS produced by the German company Siemens. 4 The worm can be spread through an air gapped network by a removable device, such as a thumb drive, and possibly through computers connected to the Internet, and it is often capable of remaining hidden from detection. • 31. Essay on Haydn and Mozart Between the years 1782 and 1785, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote six string quartets which were dedicated to his friend and fellow composer, Joseph Haydn. These quartets, known as the Haydn Quartets, were among Mozart s first six masterpieces in the medium (Keller, 64). In composing these works, Mozart was inspired by Haydn s recently published Opus 33, which is also a set of six string quartets. When Haydn wrote his Opus 33 in 1781, it was the first time he had written for the string quartet in a period of ten years. With the six pieces of Opus 33, Haydn established a style of chamber music that he described as being in an entirely new, very special manner (Pauly, 45). At the same time, it had also been nearly 10 years since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The royalty of the time was especially interested in having small instrumental groups play at their social gatherings and official events. The music of these small groups was known as chamber music, because it was usually meant to be performed in a royal patron s private chambers (Rosenstiel, 547). In order to suit the tastes of the aristocracy, this type of music was generally light and elegant. Both Mozart and Haydn were masters of the classical style. Haydn, born 24 years before Mozart, was an innovator in the development of the style. Mozart followed Haydn s lead and went even further by becoming a true master of classical forms. Mozart s works also show a strong sense of emotion, which adds to their power. Haydn wrote more than 80 string quartets during his long career. By the early 1770s, the four movement format was standardized in Haydn s quartets (548). After an exciting first movement in sonata allegro form, Haydn often used a minuet for the second movement. The third movement was usually a slow piece and the fourth movement was usually another up tempo form like the first movement. This order of movements differed from the traditional order, in which the second movement was a slow piece and the third movement was a minuet. By changing the order, Haydn expressed an element of the classical style, because the four movements are balanced in terms of their expressive weight (Rosen, 280). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Descriptive Essay On Skiing Skiing the Slopes The last minute, go to vacation place Colorado. A destination my family has relied on for many family vacations. The earliest memory that I have of Colorado takes place at the age of maybe three or four years old, and we went there two years in a row on a skiing trip at the Monarch Mountain Ski Resort with my mom s side of the family. There was a bunch of people crammed into two cabins in the mountains. One cabin held me, my parents, my sister Matlyn, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. While the cabin across the river held my grandpa s brother, his wife, kids, and grandkids. Being not old enough to ski by myself, I was required to take a skiing class. For half the day we skied, and then were in a daycare for the rest. It was AWFUL! The daycare part, not the skiing. A girl there who was quite fond of stealing my toys and snacks still haunts my memories of that place. She should know not to take a girls snack. The best part of that vacation was when we went back the next year, and grabbed a brochure/map and there was a picture of me on it from the year before. In the picture I was all bundled up in my coat and the scarf that my mom made for me, and wearing oversized ski goggles that covered my whole face, and beside me was my ski instructor. I WAS FAMOUS! The next time that we were in Colorado, we went to Estes Park and rented a small house to stay in for a week. The owners lived right next door and had a daughter who was about my age and had ... After the process, you will have to have faith that your child absorbed your teachings. The process is the shift from one to another. • 36. Plus Size Women In my opinion, we need not discuss a reconciliation of sorts regarding the greater degree of acceptance of plus size women with the parallel emphasis our society continues to place on thinness because I think that comparison would be based upon approval versus acceptance. My reasoning is this, images where media now portrays plus size women in a positive light and encourages society to accept plus size as beautiful, does not encourage/approve of the health problems associated with obesity. We can find the beauty in all people. Size does not determine whether or not someone is a loving, caring, kind, or beautiful person; therefore, the mindset that these images should not be accepted due to health problems is foolish to me. Let us look ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, when people feel accepted, they feel better about themselves. Accepting a person because they are plus size does not necessarily encourage them to live an unhealthy lifestyle. In fact, these women may feel more confident and actually take the initiative to get active, and not because they are chasing the need to feel accepted, but because they are less self conscious and able to walk out in public without feeling inferior due to lowered self esteem. As we know, self esteem influences consumer behavior (Solomon, 2017). Social media is providing a platform for plus size women to have a voice. There are so many plus size models and bloggers that have created pages strictly built to encourage and empower women who may feel like they do not fit society s mode. Social media has brought about a self acceptance to the masses. It allows consumers to voice their stance, which often times expresses the way many others feel, and set a tone to make changes. • 37. Price Elasticity Of Demand Between All Nike Shoes This article will focus on the comparison of price elasticity of demand between all Nike shoes sold in Canada and all breads sold in Canada. I argue that all Nike shoes sold in Canada have a higher price elasticity of demand than all breads sold in Canada due to three factors: the availability of substitute goods, necessity and percentage of income. The first factor is the availability of substitute goods, which are goods that can be utilized instead of the original good. If there is a substitute good available, the demand is likely to change more because people can buy different products. On the contrary, if an item has few substitute goods, it may not gain or lose customers. In Canada, Nike shoes have lots of substitute goods like Adidas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the product coast a large percentage of the average consumer s income, people will pay more attention to sale prices because they may be afraid of a fact that if the price keeps rising, they can t afford it because it is expensive and costs most of their income. It is common that we spend more than $200 on one pair of Nike shoes, which are quite expensive. However, the price of bread is low. Furthermore, one pair of Nike shoes costs more percentage of clients income than a piece of bread. If the price declines, people would like to buy more Nike shoes because they can t afford it in normal time. However, people won t buy too much bread than before because the bread may go rancid quickly. So people are more sensitive to the price of Nike shoes. As a consequence, all Nike shoes sold in Canada have more elasticity than all bread sold in Canada. Unlike the price elasticity of demand, the price elasticity of supply plays an important role on how producers respond to the change in price. I argue that all bread sold in Canada has more elasticity than all shoes sold in Canada owning to three main factors, which are the availability of raw materials, length and complexity of production and mobility of factors. First, the availability of raw materials has an influence on raw materials because for more available goods, producers are always more willing to increase production ... The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, said in October that, although the government supported the principle of the single currency, Britain would not be ready to join at least until the second wave of countries join in 2002. He added that the UK should, however, begin to prepare for monetary union. There are many possible advantages and disadvantages that the government had to consider: Advantages: 1. A single currency should end currency instability in the participating countries (by irrevocably fixing exchange rates) and reduce it outside them. Because the Euro would have the enhanced credibility of being used in a large currency zone, it would be more stable against speculation than individual currencies are now. An end to internal currency instability and a reduction of external currency instability would enable exporters to project future markets with greater certainty. This will unleash a greater potential for growth. 2. Consumers would not have to change money when travelling and would encounter less red tape when transferring large sums of money across borders.
