Differences Of Hinduism And Hinduism
Hinduism is one big family of beliefs that unites the worship of many gods with a belief in a single
divine reality. Hinduism does not have an identifiable founder nor a structure in place to defend it and
spread its guidance, or a creed to steady its beliefs. At first many of its teachings and scriptures were
passed down orally but eventually, were written down for all to cherish. In Christianity we find that
Jesus is the originator of this religion, and is purely a missionary religion. Traveling and branching out
to as many people as possible to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ. Also, in similar sense there are
many denominations within the religion that have different teachings but all usually lead to the same
result, reaching heaven and living eternally with Christ himself.
Hinduism has many deities that are worshipped. Depending on what type of deity you worship
depends on one s own personality or age. The most common deities prayed to would be the three in
the Trimurti. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva and represent the forces of creation, preservation, and
destruction. Brahma is the god of creation and often depicted as having four faces looking in all
directions and eight arms holding symbols of power. Vishnu is the god of preserving the universe and
is often depicted as having four arms holding symbols of power and usually wears a tall crown. Shiva
is the god of destruction but also recreation. Shiva could be the most misunderstood god in Hinduism
because most people

The Smartest Guys Of The Room
After viewing The smartest guys in the room , it is readily apparent that once this company stepped off
the path it was doomed to self destruction. The charismatic leadership of Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling
was a mitigating factor, propelling this company to epic proportions prior to its demise. The PRC and
trading area, made an environment that pushed social facilitation and social learning theory to the
limits. The focus of the company was to implement conceptual ideas and to garner immediate profits.
The employees became disciples of Lay and Skilling and saw only results and profits, they never
questioned the moral implications of their actions.

The leaders were using a goal and rewards based system to encourage the maximum potential of the
traders. Conceptually this was successful, however in the State of California s power deregulation, it
was an ethical abomination. The traders used every loop hole imaginable to profit, including rolling
blackouts and power plant shut downs. Raising the price of power even thought there was power for
everyone, only its manipulation fed the traders ego s and Enron s bottom line.
This atmosphere of someone is always watch and evaluating you and your performance level leads to
social facilitation. Everyone wants to do their absolute best when they know that the boss is watching.
In this case everyone is watch always so it magnifies the results obtained from a single individual.
Teamwork was seemingly not embraced but rather the concept of self edification through wealth as
the ultimate goal.
Once the charismatic leadership of Skilling had promoted conformity among the employees. The
nonconformist employees were essentially voted out to keep the idealized vision and toxic work place
intact. Skilling had many of the attributes of a fine leader, but was devoid of integrity. This loss of
personal conscience is a serious character flaw in any leader. The staff emulated Skilling in this,
exhibiting little if any personal guilt for their own actions and behavior.

Mainstreaming Interview
Report of an Interview with a Afterschool Tutor in Mainstreaming School
Special Education has gained the attention from Hong Kong government in this decade and the
government has been working on how to provide an equal opportunity learning environment for SEN
student. However, there is a contention about the efficacy of the policy. For more information from
firsthand experiences, an interview with Ms. Ng has been done on 17November2017. Ms. Ng aged at
27 is a part time student of Advanced Diploma in Applied Social Sciences (Counselling) in
HKUSPACE and graduated from IVE with Diploma of Foundation in Social Service. She has been

When students with SEN are taught the same knowledge at the same time with typical students,
teachers without professional training might take longer time to overcome their questions when they
have difficulties in learning. Ms Ng suggested teacher in mainstreaming school should have a 30mins
meeting or training about Integration each week to have better preparation for SEN. For Ms Ng s
personal experiences, teachers should mind their words and phrases during class because students with
SEN are sensitive with language. She has a P.2 student with learning disabilities who is in
mainstreaming school, he is responsible and happy to help others. He turned into another person when
he was struggling with homework. She tried to comfort him to say take your time! but He becomes
paranoid when he does not know how to do the homework. She finally figured out that her words
stimulated her student and get him into a situation that he think he is stupid and need more time to get
the homework done. Making rules for behaviors and give clear instruction are essential to Ms Ng,
especially for students with ADHD. It is difficult to get their attention and following directions.
Sometimes, they would talk loudly in the classroom and other students are influenced to learn. Ms Ng

Plant Parasitic Nematodes Are Important Factors Affecting...
Plant parasitic nematodes are important factors affecting crop yield in all agricultural production zone,
they cause global losses to crop plants with an estimated loss of ≥100 billion US$ per year Chitwood,
2003. They have been identified as one of the major pests affecting vegetables production throughout
the world, particularly, in the tropical and sub tropical regions. More than 60 different species
representing 19 genera of plant parasitic nematodes attack vegetables but the most destructive
nematode is the root knot nematodes which belongs to the genus Meloidogyne which considered one
of the most economically important group of plant parasitic nematode cause damage and high yield
losses on most cultivated vegetables throughout the world. Over the past few decades, producers have
relied mainly on nematicides and chemical fertilizers to control plant parasitic nematodes and
improved soil fertility. But, continuing environmental problems associated with the thriving use of
agrochemicals and the recent drive to produce food free of chemical residues have compelled
nematologists worldwide to seek for alternative environmentally friend and safe methods for
management crop production. Biological control using microorganisms with the ability to antagonize
nematodes represent realistic alternatives to chemical nematicides. Plant Growth Promoting
Rhizobacteria PHPR are at present a promising non chemical alternative for controlling a number of
plant parasitic nematodes and

Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Has Been Found Throughout the...
Research has found that REM sleep has evolved to become part of the dreaming process otherwise
known as REM sleep dreaming. Sleep with electroencephalographic evidence of the brain shows that
a human s brain is awake during sleep because involuntary eye movement occurs. This occurs during
the dreaming consciousness every human possesses which is part of the secondary consciousness
every human has. There is also non REM sleep which is sleep that occurs without the rapid eye
movement. The importance of REM sleep and dreaming has been studied for many years and has
gradually become more informative. REM sleep is important for a human because it allows for
developmental brain growth which furthers the evolution of humans.
Rapid Eye Movement sleep is the process that allows for a person to recall what their dreams were
about. The periods in which Rapid Eye Movement occurs are known as phasic periods and those
periods that occur without Rapid Eye movement are known as tonic periods. Although people have
come to the understanding that dreaming and recollection occur during the REM sleep period, there
are still three theories as to how this occurs. The theories are: the scanning hypothesis, the activation
synthesis hypothesis, and the sensory image free association hypothesis. The scanning process reflects
the dreamer s voluntary watching of visual imagesduring the dreaming process. The activation
synthesis hypothesis puts into context that rapid eye movement occurs at the same

Quality Improvement Analysis
From the article we read about Toyota I loved the quote; You can t solve problems unless you admit
them (Fishman, 2006). To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply principles
of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look at the big
picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After answering these
questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would make sure that my team
and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know what is going on and the
objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. At Toyota, there is a presumption of imperfection.
Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic, much more human (Fisher, 2006). ...

If I were to apply our design of quality improvement to where I plan on working using Roger s
Diffusion of Innovation Theory I would use his five elements to help me along. According to Rogers
there are five elements of a new or substitute clinical behaviour that will each partly determine
whether adoption or diffusion of a new activity will occur: relative advantage, compatibility,
complexity, trialability and observability (Sanson Fisher, 2004). Michelle and I decided hiring new
nurses and using existing float nurses would improve compliance rates because there would be a
smaller patient to nurse ratio. Before applying our design I would take Roger s five elements into
consideration when approaching staff about a quality improvement project because ultimately how
well the design works is based off staff accomplishment. This approach is compatible to current unit
needs and can be easily adopted. We plan to do an audit quarterly to see if our new approach is
improving compliance rates on the unit and is meeting the Joint Commissions

Michael Myers Monsters And The Moral Imagination
Michael Myers is known for his uncontrollable killing of his own bloodline. Known from the
Halloween film series, after killing his older sister and being locked up in a mental institute for fifteen

only goes through challenges to get rid of anyone related to him, but he also kills any innocent soul
that might get in his way. He has this immortality that aids him to survive any type of death that is

But there is always a back story to ones success or downfall. When Stephen King in the article Why
We Crave Horror Movies argues I think we are all mentally ill; (1). King is completely one hundred
percent correct. We all have had challenges and certain events that make us who we are today. We all
have had experiences that make us want to act upon revenge or greed or even evil. Some act upon
their strange fears and actions but some just know how to hide it in a normal way. Just like Michael.
Although he was cursed by a cult to kill his family he had a troubling childhood. Since his parents
died when he was just a little boy he felt some type of abandonment. Yes he might have had his older
and younger sister but they had their own lives to figure out. They were worried about themselves
going through their own struggles, not noticing the Michael was going through that as well. That made
Michael feel alone and empty in his household. His abandonment could be the driving factor of the
reason why he feels no emotion when it came to killing his own family. The abandonment lead him to
give up the control of his thoughts and behavior. For some, abandonment can influence their future
choices in life and how they react to it. It all depends on how we face

Things Fall Apart Culture
Chinua Achebe makes many comments throughout his writings in Things Fall Apart about the belief
systems that the people of the Ibo culture follow. During the novel the Ibo people identifies
themselves as an agricultural society, they are very dependent on their crops they grow. Throughout
the story the people of Umuofia are reliant on their production of crops, especially yams. Similar to
The Lottery , their town believes in superstitious ideas in order to feel as though they are in control.
Having a community based on agriculture is risky and there is no control how the weather chooses to

The Effects Of Explosion Exposure On Central Auditory...
The health effects following exposure to blast impact are a growing concern in the United States,
especially in the military population. The United State s involvement in warfare in recent years has led
to many unseen developments not only psychologically but also physically in the service men and
women returning home. Technological changes in current years have allowed for the development of
various types of lethal weaponry, such as with high intensity explosive devices. Improvised explosive
devices, known as IEDs have largely been used in recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The use of
IEDs in combat has led to debilitating losses and handicaps experienced by some of our military
personnel, including traumatic brain injury (TBI). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the breakthrough studies (Gallun et al., 2012) tested 36 blast exposed and 29 non blast exposed
participants. Participants were tested on batteries of behavioral and physical tests whose scores can
demonstrate a connection to problems with central auditory processing (Gallun et al., 2012). The
purpose of the study was to see if participants with blast exposure performed worse on these tests than
participants without blast exposure, especially with hearing in complex auditory environments and
speech in noise types of measures (Gallun et al., 2012). The blast exposure group included veterans
seeking treatment at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center post Iraq War. They identified as having
exposure to a high intensity blast at least once within the past year. They were excluded from the study
if they had any TBI higher than the moderate diagnosis, and were also excluded if they had a hearing
loss over 50 dB HL. Subjects without blast exposure were also recruited for the study and were tested
at the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research in Portland. These subjects data were used
as a baseline comparison to obtain data reflecting the general population that has been unaffected by
blast exposure. The non blast exposure group was recruited into the study based on similar age and
hearing capabilities as those with blast exposure. Participants from both groups underwent

Epic Of Gilgamesh Book Report
The Epic of Gilgamesh begins with a very vivid description of Gilgamesh and his strength. It tells of
how Anu, the sky god, tells Aruru, the mother goddess, to create something that was equal to
Gilgamesh in power. Aruru makes this man out of clay and calls him Enkidu. Enkidu was a mixture
between a man and some type of animal; therefore, he was able to live in the forest alongside of
animals. A trapper who hunted in that same forest became angry that Enkidu was setting traps free.
After going to his father, the trapper travels to Gilgamesh for help. Gilgamesh gives the trapper a
harlot named Shamhat to take back with him who will seduce Enkidu and turn him into a man. When
Shamhat reaches Enkidu, she beguiles him and he turns human. Now, Enkidu is not able to roam with
animals, instead he scares them. Shamhat reveals to Enkidu that Gilgamesh has had dreams about him
coming. Enkidu and Shamhat make a journey to Uruk so Enkidu can battle Gilgamesh.
Following a fight between them, Enkidu and Gilgamesh resolve their problems and become friends.
Gilgamesh persuades Enkidu to go with him to fight Humbaba, the guard of the Cedar Forest so that
they can gain recognition for the defeat. The elders of Uruk and Gilgamesh s mother pray over them
and designate Enkidu as Gilgamesh s servant. Then the two start their journey to Cedar Forest. Each

Power Of Conformity In Groups Was Concocted By Solomon Asch
The Asch Experiments were a series of studies that demonstrated the power of conformity in groups.
The Asch experiment was concocted by Solomon Asch and was a famous psychological experiment
that was designed to investigate the extent to which social pressure from a majority group could affect
a person to conform. The experiment also shows that one voice can make a difference amongst others.
The experiments were made up of visions tests where study participants were found to be more likely
to conform to obviously wrong answers if first given by other participants. In the case study, the group
was consists of all but one person that was working for Asch (confederates) to test how the remaining
student would react to their wrong answer.
During the experiment each participant was put into a group with 5 to 7 confederates. The participant
was then shown a card with a line on it which was then followed by another card with a line on it
labelled a,b,c. The participant was then asked to state which of the lines matched in length to the other
card. The participant would answer next to last. In the beginning of the experiment (the first two trails)
the subject would feel calm, as he and the others gave the correct answer. Once the first two trails
were over all the confederates would give the wrong answer to the task. The hope was to prove

provided incorrect answers participants conformed 32% of the time. Overall, the equipment concluded

Water Pollution Is The Contamination Of Water
The topic for this final paper is water pollution, water pollution is the contamination of natural water
bodies that contain many hazardous chemicals that can affect human health. This can have devastating
consequences in the lower poorer countries around the world where there is no way for the people
there to have access to fresh ,and clean water. That s why in this final essay it explains to the reader all
of the hazardous ways you or your family could and even may be at risk for water pollution wherever
you go around the world whether it has a unfiltered river system, or it has a proper filtration system
and it somewhat fails and the people that work there does inform the public of the imminent dangers
of all the unfiltered and unprocessed drinking or everyday use water. That is why this essay provides

Ancient Egypt Sports And Games
Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians expected that life after death would follow the general pattern of life on the
earth so they kept in their tombs food to eat, clothing to wear, boats to sail, weapons for war and
sports and games equipment s for their amusement. All the people in Ancient Egypt did many fun
things together. All of them enjoyed the Nile River, such as adults and children that they used to swim
and fished. People went to their temples together, where they worshipped their gods and watched
performances of plays.

Do you play games? Maybe you go to the movies. How about listening to music? These are all things
we do for fun and games. What about the Ancient Egyptians? How did they have fun? From what we
have found out, they had lots of fun. They had toys, games, and played pretend. They listened to
musicians. And, they enjoyed sports. Let s see what we can discover. The history of sport probably
extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and active beings. Sport has been
a useful way for people to increase their mastery of nature and the environment. Of course, as we go
further back in history the dwindling evidence makes the theories of the origins and purposes of sport
difficult to support. Nonetheless, its importance in human history is undeniable.
Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were
keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary
equipment. Children and adults are often depicted involved in games. Typically boys games were
rougher than those of the girls, but the latter weren t above fighting and hair pulling, like the pair in

Irony in the Works of Kate Chopin and Guy De Maupassant
Outline and Thesis Introduction Thesis: In the end of the each story, the woman is wholly undone by
the society in which she lives; she is destroyed when she is unable to live up to the ideal of
womanhood that her society dictates. The irony that serves the end of each story is the final blow,
which undoes the woman and finishes her life. Paragraph 1: Story of an Hour as unhappy marriage
Paragraph 2: ironic twist in Story of an Hour Paragraph 3: reason for Louis Mallard s death Paragraph
4: irony as the cause of death Paragraph 5: The Necklace summary/analysis Paragraph 6: conflict and
irony Paragraph 7: result of ironic twist Conclusion: Irony in Chopin and Maupassant Irony is a
literary device wherein what the reader expects to occur does not and the events that transpire are
wholly surprising. Authors throughout literary history have used this devise to surprise and entertain
the reader. Kate Chopin and Guy de Maupassant both utilize irony in their respective short stories The
Story of an Hour and The Necklace. In each story a woman who is believed to be happy in the role of
a proper Victorian and thus subservient female but ironically proves herself to be something other than
the ideal woman of that society and instead is something altogether different. Both Louise Mallard and
Mathilde Loisel belong to a period where woman was to be seen and not heard, to follow the will of
their husbands and to suffer any unhappiness in silence. In the end

The Influence of the USSR during the Cold War
..all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in the Soviet sphere and all are subject in
one form or another, not only to Soviet influence but to a very high and increasing measure of control
from Moscow.. (Churchill 6 7), this is a lesser known quote from Winston Churchill s famous Iron
Curtain speech. This sentence, in reality, is the sentence that comes right after the famous Iron Curtain
has descended across the continent quote, one that most Americans have heard in History Class. The
Iron Curtain related to a period of the Cold War where the USSR controls most of the eastern half of
Europe. History classes tell their students a lot about how America and the USSR were on the brink of
war; nuclear weapons could have destroyed the world at any given moment, the Iron Curtain over
Europe, that whole ordeal. The one thing that Social Studies classes never really covered was the
effect that the USSR had on the countries it occupied, influenced, or controlled, and even in today s
world, Russia still impacts similar territory as it used to back during the Cold War. Back during the
days of the USSR, the country had much control over Eastern Europe, including Lithuania, Latvia,
Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus, Czechoslovakia, eastern Poland, Hungary, Rumania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria,
and of course, Eastern Germany. Many of the further away countries of the controlled area were not as
heavily influenced as some of the countries that actually became part of the USSR,

Collaborative Group Experience
Introduction Groups and teamwork are an essential aspect of everyday life. It is suggested that groups
have the potential to outperform individuals (Mottola Utkus, 2009). There are several facets that
impact teamwork, including communication, and cooperation. Conflicts and challenges are also
important aspects that can occur in teamwork. It is imperative to understand effective models, and
actions that can be taken to establish successful work. Experiential learning will be used to analyze a
group experience that the author found to be meaningful. Additionally, team dynamic concepts and
theories will aid in analyzing the experience.

The various challenges and conflicts impacted all the members of the group, and resulted in a subpar
presentation. As the presentation was a significant portion of our final grade, it was imperative for the
author as well as several other members to take initiative and salvage the presentation before it was a
complete disaster. The author behaved in this manner to ensure the requirements of the assignment
were met, and the presentation was delivered in order to avoid failure for the assignment. The other
members of the group that also took initiative to complete the assignment were motivated to achieve
these goals as well. The individuals that lacked participation were fueled by conflict and determined to
create a negative experience because of refusal for agreement. The individuals removed themselves
from the group and choose to work on aspects of the presentation alone. This impacted the group
negatively because there was lack of communication, and opinions from everyone involved. Joan

creativity and productivity (Bunashe Broder, 2015). The actions of the individuals who refused to

This paper is an analysis of a real world case as it relates to the learning about managing misbehavior.
The Case 8.1, The (Mis) Behavior of Successful CEOs Leads to Their Departures, requires answers to
the following questions: To what degree do you believe the behaviors of the featured CEOs
constituted misbehavior and that reactions of the boards were correct? (Ivancevich, J.M., Konopaske,

He deliberately used the company s funds to afford that affair and this should not be the character of a
true and ethical leader. It was just fair for the board to find another reason, other than sexual
harassment, to force him to resign.
Brian Dunn This CEO agreed to resign amid investigation into his personal conduct (Bustillo, 2012).
A probe was made by the board into his conduct as a married man accused of having an inappropriate
relationship with a 29 year old female associate (Ivancevich, et al, 2014). This affair did not only show
poor judgment on his part but as well as impacting negatively the work environment of Best Buy. It
was just appropriate for the board to let him go.
The common denominator among these great and very capable CEOs is a woman. Just like President
Bill Clinton s much publicized, I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky

confession of an extramarital affair, these CEOs succumbed to that saying, For every man s victory or

ordinary men to fall in love with another woman. The huge difference is that the position

Things will be easy for you. But they will be hard for us (p. 111). These words, spoken by Ántonia,

after moving to the North America s Western frontier. This novel reveals how immigrants in the late
1800s and early 1900s had to overcome numerous obstacles on the path towards The American Dream
which those native to the area did not have to face. In the late 1800s, America became more attractive

Immigrating to the frontier with nothing but the belongings they could carry, these families would
have to start from scratch. The novel portrays how immigrants of this time started out behind as they
were forced to take loans from whomever they could to start their lives at their new homes. Mr.
Shimerda makes a point to explain to their new neighbors that in his former home, Bohemia, they
were not poor, but they became poor moving to America (p. 61). Immigrants struggled to have enough
money to begin their farms and often had to take out loans. A Russian immigrant in the novel had to
take out several loans to get by. These loans only grew from interest as he was unable to pay the dues
(p. 44). This resulted in him only growing more and more in debt and being buried in mortgages. As
most immigrants were in debt, they had to continue to labor vigorously on their farms and were not
able to gain the skills or education many non immigrants were able to get. This meant they would not
be able to one day obtain a higher paying knowledge job in the city. For example, Ántonia desired to
attend school, but when asked about it by her neighbor, she insisted she was too busy with farm work
to attend (p. 97). While Ántonia was unable to attend school, her neighbor, Jim, was able to. As adults,
Jim was a lawyer in the city while Ántonia remained a mother in the frontier. This is just one example
that unveils the different levels of upward mobility and how they affected the immigrants in contrast

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Essay
Gulliver and the Grotesque
The term scatological means to have an interest or preoccupation with the obscene. In his book,
Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes
concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would
encounter in a cheeky T.V. show but has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary
trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective Swift employs scatology as a means of
satire. This invokes Swift s contemporary politics. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity,
balancing out the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. Realism in literature, refers generally to any
artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary

tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an
attempt to reflect life as it actually is. Swift uses the daily grotesque and bodily functions to both
connect his audience and provoke disgust in them. By employing a blasé attitude when using this
device, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. He
accomplishes this because the grotesque is simply an exaggeration of reality. Swift also creates the

Optimism And Racism
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson
appears to be a charming, quaint sentiment, although a sentiment which is seemingly not applicable to
modern society. However, is it possible that each individual could establish an optimisitc, sanguine
attitude throught all the days of their life? In retrospect, I sincerely believe that this is attainable,
through a conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts.
Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society. However, optimisim and
an audcaious thrist for a jovial life is wildly infectious. The significant question still stands. How do
we obtain this unshakeable optimism through the storms of life, through clossal challenges, through
unfair critisim and rejection?
When we see unabashedly optimisic indivudals who rejoice in life and modify the way we look at this
immense, vast, capacious world, we wonder how to procure what they have acquired? We concede.

Compare The Ways Gone And A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
In the memoir, A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, and the film The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and
Pete, there is a lot to do with poverty, loss of family and independence. Only in different ways.
Ishmael is on his own and has to find his own food, water and shelter along with a few friends. The
boys are all young but were thrown into the real world very quickly and unexpectedly. Mister and Pete
have their mothers, but it does not matter as of the mothers do not seem to care for their children as
much as they should. Mister and Pete come home to rarely any food at all, no money and are scared of
one day, no shelter. Mister has to take charge in his home as a result of his mother being a drug addict
and does not try to help, just like Ishmael had to be his own person by reason of the believed loss of
his family. In the film, police came to search the apartment. Mister and Pete hid as they do not want to
depart to Riverview, the children s home. Every day, the two boys are avoiding the police or running
from them. They must buy their own food, take care of their home and one another. Mister steps up
and tries his best to provide and care for Pete, although being thirteen years of age, he cannot yet
acquire a job. In the memoir, Ishmael and his friends are driven to do everything they can to avoid the
rebels or they could be in danger, possibly killed. They end up only going out at night so that they will
not get seen as easy and be as quiet as possible. Ishmael is a leader,

My Virtual Child Final Paper Samantha D. Gross Developmental Psychology; PSY360 Purdue

understand the complexities of raising and guiding a child. Mere decisions made during infancy can
affect a child long term, physically, cognitively, and even emotionally. To make important

parents experience. Making decisions for one s self, as opposed to making decisions for one s child is

H. S. Department Of Homeland Security Case Study
City, state, and federal emergency management personnel across the United States encounter threats
and hazards daily. Those threats and hazards can vary in intensity between low and high levels of
danger with different severities of impacts on the citizens in affected areas. Sometimes threat and
hazards can be detected before they strike. Those early warning periods allow emergency managers to
enact preventive measures or prepare responsive plans and resources in order to stop or lessen the
impacts of the threats and hazards on the community. In order to assist city and state emergency

the D.H.S. are prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery. The KCUATHIRA is aligned
with and covers the D.H.S. recommended core capabilities by mission area. On step 1 of the THIRA,
the KCUATHIRA lists threat and hazard scenarios to the city ranging from tornadoes, severe winter
weather, hazardous material (HAZMAT) spills, improvised explosive device (IED) attacks, terrorist
attacks, cyber attacks, emerging infectious disease outbreaks, anthrax attacks, and vulnerable
waterways and bridges (KCMO City Government, 2012). The scenarios listed were designed to
encompass the most likely situations that may occur which would cause the greatest impact to the city.
Desired outcomes are listed for each core capability by mission area as a measurable objective to be
reached by emergency managers. For the rest of the assessment, two examples of natural and
manmade scenarios will be used to describe the actions and agency methodology that may occur in
KCMO. Those two scenarios are a tornado striking the downtown business district and a complex IED

Expectations of a First Line Supervisor in a Law Enforcement Agency
By

Supervision in the Criminal Justice Field
Professor Chavez
May 15, 2013
Abstract
The first line supervisor in law enforcement is commonly referred to as a Sergeant. These positions
are of great importance to a law enforcement agency. There are many pros and cons to becoming a
first line supervisor. These positions are tasked with the expectation of maintaining a level of balance
within the patrol ranks, as well as remaining fair and impartial among those ranks. There are also
many expectations of subordinates. In order for both parties to meet these expectations requires a
close working relationship.
The first line supervisor in a law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A supervisor must remain approachable from their subordinates. With this approachability and
accessibility the supervisor will be successful in building a better working relationship. The difficulty
with some supervisors is the ability to draw the line between having a personal relationship with their
subordinates and a professional relationship. With a close working relationship a supervisor should be
able to confront the subordinate and be able to resolve the issue. The resolution may range from
simply counseling the subordinate, all the way up to possible disciplinary action.
Approximately 25 percent of all law enforcement disciplinary action is due to drug use. (More amp;
Miller, 2007) Supervisors must remain vigilant on possible drug use. Many supervisors are unwilling
to discipline their subordinates, which could ultimately lead to their downfall. When disciplinary
action is necessary it is the responsibility of the supervisor to remain fair and impartial. When
initiating disciplinary action the supervisor must put aside any personal feelings toward the
subordinate, and act solely on a professional level. They must act in the best interest of the subordinate
and the department as a whole. It is important that when the disciplinary action is necessary it is done
in a constructive manner. When the disciplinary action is constructive it allows the subordinate to
accept their mistakes, and learn

The Treatment Of Immigrant Women Essay
Although immigrant women play a big role in America s society and economy, they have been
constantly mistreated and looked down upon throughout history. Not only do they face the burden of
the stratifications that their gender entails but they also struggle to adopt the American culture and
norms. America was viewed as the land of opportunities and economic prosperity, a perspective that
draws in many immigrant women who were willing to leave their families and possessions to come to
this foreign country in hopes of a better life. In America, they faced many challenges as they not only
had to work long hours but also took care of their families and do housework as well. They struggled
to make a standard living out of low wage jobs and assimilating into America s society. Today, the
treatment of immigrant women has improved greatly as they have stood together and fought for their
rights. Immigrant women have built communities and held strikes for better pay and treatment.
Although America has made great strides in improving treatment of immigrant women, there is still
social injustice. Immigrant women have come a long way from the first time they entered America
until now, but their stories are often left untold and omitted from American history. Immigrant women
cover many ethnic groups from around the world such as Chinese, Japanese, Jews, Irish and
Mexicans. Upon their first arrival in America, these groups of immigrant women have all been

Analysis Of Christopher ColumbusWhen Worlds Collide
When Worlds Collide
The title When Worlds Collide refers to the interaction between the Natives from the New World and
the explorers from the old world. Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who was sponsored by
Spain, attempted to find a faster route to India. Columbus didn t find what he was looking for, and was
unaware that he had found a New World that pathed the way for exploration of the America s.
Columbus never found out what he had discovered, and died thinking he had found a route to India.
Columbus discovery would lead to the exploration of the new world and would force interaction
between the people of the old world and the natives of the new world. They would exchange things
like animals and food but would also exchange things like diseases that were detrimental to the native
population.
The natives changed the European diet with their introduction of tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes, and
most of all the potato. These foods would revolutionize the diet of not only the Europeans, but the
entire world. In return for the natives contribution to the Europeans, Columbus would return with old
world goods such as cows, horses, and swine. They also brought foods like wheat, sugar, rice, and
coffee. Although many of the things brought over were beneficial, there were some bad things that
were traded. These things seemed to have the largest effect. People from the old world brought over
many diseases including, smallpox, measles, bubonic plague, influenza, typhus,

Dr. Barbara Hollingshead The Family Stone: Elements of Conflict Conflict, according to Wilmot
Hocker (2011), is defined as an expressed struggle between at least two interdependent parties who
perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals.
At the core of all conflict analysis is perception (Wilmot Hocker, 2011). In interpersonal conflicts,
people react as though there are genuinely different goals, there is not enough of some resource, and
the other person actually is getting in the way of something prized by the perceiver (Wilmot Hocker,

The study indicated a significant decline in the amount of summer snowfall. With this information,
they determined that the decline was most likely the result of snow changing into a different rain.
Although one might question if this result might have been because of the lack of precipitation, they
determined that there was not a significant influence of decrease in the total amount of precipitation in
the areas. As they looked back to annual data collected and the data that was recently collected, they
determined statistically that 99% of the summer snowfall decline is linked to Arctic Warming over the
past two decades (Screen and Simmons). They continue by explaining with more of these greenhouse
gases that the solar input to the Arctic Ocean has increased (Screen and Simmons). Each of these

stemmed just from greenhouse gases caused by global warming.

How Is Canada A Reborn Nation
The following source should be embraced to its full extent, as Canada was a changed and almost
reborn nation in terms of its people s undying pride. While our people endured unfathomable
hardships, we became a stronger nation. Throughout our lives, we endure through hardships unique to
which we are. A much more extreme version of this can be seen through Canada and the First World
War. For example, on a soccer team, someone can expect a wide variety of different challenges seen
through games. You may face a team who challenges you more than any other, and you may face a
team who against all odds you must beat. However, through these games and battles, a team grows
closer and takes pride in their efforts and victories as a whole. The same can be said for Canada s
efforts in the First World War. Against all odds; a country not known for their military might ... Show

Clean Development Mechanism ( Cdm )
The UK has/have set particular targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is presented in four
different time periods, in addition, only the first carbon budget has been completed. The UK is
currently in the progress of the second budget, which is 2013 to 2017. Meeting carbon budget is not
the same as reducing emissions as the budget refers only to some sources of emissions. The price of
carbon has recently been very low and, as a result, the governments have introduced carbon tax in the
Finance Act of 2011.The Carbon Floor Price (CFP) is a top up tax, it exists to boost the existing EU
price of carbon (Webster, 2013). Only electricity producers can top up tax if the market price falls
below a certain level as electricity producers use carbon fuels. (Rudd, Greenhouse gas emissions,
2013)
Clean development mechanism (CDM) is the second market based Kyoto mechanism, under the
Kyoto Protocol. According to (Clean Development Mechanism , 2014) CDM allows a country with an

If you could ensure that your future children would be healthy, would you? This is a trivial question
because most parents would stop at nothing to ensure that their children are healthy. Human germ line
engineering may soon make it possible to alter the genome of human embryos permanently changing
the genetic blueprint for every cell in an embryo s body. Through human germ line technology we
could eradicate many debilitating genetic diseases (e.g. Tay Sachs disease, cystic fibrosis etc.), prevent
cancer, and even increase the average life span. Human germ line engineering is prenatal and produces

However, researchers generally agree that germ line engineering will be possible within the next
twenty years (Rabino 153). When the technology does develop, the procedure for germ line
engineering will be similar to that of in vitro fertilization. For example, a couple wishes to have a
child, but they have reservations about naturally conceiving because both of their families have a
history of cystic fibrosis. They decide that the use of germ line engineering would be the best way for
them to ensure they produce a healthy child. First, the couple will go to a clinic and some of the man s
sperm and some of the woman s eggs will be harvested. These sex cells will then be taken to a
laboratory and in a Petri dish the man s sperm will be induced to fertilize the woman s eggs. These
fertilized eggs will then be allowed to develop up to the eight cell embryonic stage. At this point one
cell from each eight cell embryo will be removed for genetic testing (this does not cause significant
harm to the embryo s development because the cells are not yet differentiated into the different types
of tissue). If the genetic tests come out positive for the defective gene that causes cystic fibrosis, the
diseased embryos will undergo genetic surgery. In genetic surgery, through various intricate methods,
the defective gene is basically spliced out of the

Family Dynamics Of Military Brats
The Family Dynamics of a Military Brat
Many are accustomed the term Military Brat as a derogatory label towards a child of an active or
retired military service member. As Military Brats they understand that there is no time to forge bonds
with people. Brats are forced to combine a lifetime of memories into just a few years, before they pack
up everything to be transported to a different state or to a different country. Fully expected to learn a
new language if needed, adjust to a culture faster than most would want; all of which at an unrealistic
speed in the eyes of the regular world. Most attending 5 or more schools in less than 12 years,
constantly the new kid in class. Forced time and time again to start over, all the while never once
complaining; as it was a way of life for them. The constant reminder to join the Armed Forces, with no
time to make friends, they only had acquaintances with no time to form worthwhile bonds. But
truthfully, the bonds formed by military brats alike, are unstoppable. In the short time that they had
together, they were forged from blood, sweat, and tears, and built to withstand the passages of time.
The family dynamics that military brats are accustomed to are for more different than so called normal
families, what families go through cannot be comprehended by the outside world.

Carports Research Paper
Why should you prefer carports than garage? You need to protect your car from the harsh weather
when not in use. For that you can either build a garage or a carport. If you re just hoping to keep the
sun from beating up your car s paint job all day, a covered carport is probably all you need. What is a
carport? A carport is a small structure usually used to protect cars from the outside elements. The
structure can be attached to a wall or free standing. Carports more often than not are open to both
sides. However, one can also find those that are partially or completely closed. Carports usually come
in three types: single, double and triple carports. The type of design will depend on the number of
vehicles one wants to store. If a person has two or three vehicles, he or she can go for triple or double
structures. The structure can be installed on a paved surface, level ground, stem wall or even concrete
slab. Carports can be made of timber or metal, and the roof can be made from polycarbonate,

The first advantage of using a carport over a garage is the cost of installation. It will cost you half as
much to build a carport as a garage. The materials used for the construction of a carport is cheaper
than building a garage. Because a carport isn t an enclosed or liveable space, it s not necessary to build
fire rated walls or ceiling. You won t have to bother with so many city regulations and fire safety
considerations during construction. Carports are less massive so they fit in with the architecture better.
Since carport is more or less open, your car has plenty of natural ventilation. A carport can be

An Avid Bird Photographer Working Towards Marketing My Images
As an avid bird photographer working towards marketing my images, I spend hours scouting locations
and finding good opportunities to produce artistic images that showcase bird behavior and
characteristics. The difficult part about bird photography involves carefully approaching and
photographing subjects without causing unnecessary disturbance, while also creating a powerful
image. Contrary to popular belief, even with a long focal length lens, one must patiently wait or
carefully approach a bird with a low profile in order to make a quality image. Recently with wildlife
photography becoming a more popular and competitive field, individuals have been using ethically
questionable methods to produce high quality images. Methods such as baiting birds of prey and
mammalian predators, deliberately flushing birds for flight shots, approaching animals too closely, and
using flash when photographing nocturnal wildlife are being implemented to produce competitive
work.
The stakeholders involved in this situation are wildlife photographers themselves, publications and
individuals viewing and promoting the work, the wildlife photography industry, conservationists, and
the wildlife and ecosystems themselves. It is important to understand the two general sides of the
issue. On one side are the wildlife photographers, the wildlife photography industry, publications, and
those viewing and promoting work. On the other side are conservationists, and the wildlife and
ecosystems themselves.

Looking ahead to see New hampshire and to the side to see Main was breathtaking. Both states were
beautiful no matter where you looked at them. If only we would slow down to get a better view.
Moving, back and forth the state line road with the speed of a cheetah striking its prey. Jerking from
left to right, all heads in the car rocking as if they were on a boat. I Was In the back seat of the car so I
had a perfect view of the people. My friends, and sister, laughing and singing like there was no
tomorrow. Courtney just go their license and was testing it out in our mother s old minivan. She was a
terrible driver. That is where we grew up, in that car. Our family traveled a lot. We even drove to

her best friend Susan were both twenty one, wearing leggings and they re collage sweatshirts. In the
next row, there boyfriends. Mark and Hall. They were british twins with the astounding ability to fix
cars that they broke. In the last row, my best friend Jillian, and my boyfriend chase. We were all
eighteen. Alice wake up you are snoozing again Yelled Mark, my sisters boyfriend. We were on our
way to main for the winter and I don t do well on car trips. Wake up Courtney yelled looking back

Importance Of Information And Its Role For Managing Modern...
A) To begin with, Dretske Fred (1994) mentions that a role of information is To make this work the
idea information must be operational in such a way as to give semantic properties a role in information
system behaviours. This therefore suggests that businesses must use information to produce new
innovative ideas which could benefit their business for example new packaging of sweets will attract
customers to purchase the sweet and this could lead to an increase in sales. Moreover, Fawzy Soliman
(2003) cites that Critical information plays a key and essential role for managing modern
organisations, because of the large volumes of information and the resources required to process them,
it has become necessary to develop a scheme for the identification of critical information. The
characteristics of information that THB confectionery should use in their business are timeliness
which means that the information is available, frequency information is updated, appropriateness to
the task and the person performing the task, accuracy of the information, brevity the level of detail
appropriate for the task. Additionally, rarity which leads to unusual information, understandability of
information to person receiving it, action sufficient detail to initiate action by appropriate person and
lastly, presentation format of the information and degree of ambiguity. Nevertheless, Mohamed
Youssef (2003) mentions that the importance of critical information for the management of modern

Swimsuit Alternate Ending
We began to walk through town, Millard still had his arm linked around mine. Emma stopped at what
looked like a clothing store she and the other girls pulled me inside. I glanced around the shop,
amazed. These outfits were absolutely adorable, especially the swimsuits. I walked over to a light blue
halter top swimsuit and took it off the rack. It s so pretty! Isn t it? I said with a bright smile. It
definitely matches the dark blue streak in your hair. Bronwyn said with a soft smile. After a few
minutes we finally came out. The boys sat bordly on the wooden bench outside the store. Millard
instantly came up to me and once again linked arms with me. I heard the girls snickering behind me.
My face flushed into a full red, I felt so embarrassed and so... helpless. After a few minutes we finally
reached the beach, I felt the hot sand beneath my feet. I had already changed into the swimsuit while
we were at the store, I was just focused on getting into the water. ... Show more content on

I felt the cool water against my face as I swam down into the blackness. I soon felt something touch
my leg, I instantly knew who was, Millard... I already know it s you. I said, giggling slightly, although
I couldn t really see that well in the darkness, I knew he was around there somewhere. As soon as my
eyes were beginning to adjust to my dark surroundings, I saw a dark shadow swim past me in the
water, What the? I thought to myself. I shook my head and began to swim back up, just then I felt
someone grab my ankle, I let out a small yelp and attempted to kick at whatever was holding onto me.
I kicked what ever hit me as hard as possible, finally making it let go of me. I swam up as fast as
possible to the surface. As soon as I resurfaced, someone popped up next to me, Millard! You jerk! I
shouted as I splashed him angrily. He blocked his face, I m sorry! He shouted as I kept splashing

The Role Of Nature In The Scarlet Letter
Adultery was and still is one of the most sinful acts one can commit. The Seventh Commandment is
documented in Exodus 20:14: it states Thou shall not commit adultery (Bennett np). In the Bible,
adultery is abhorrent in God s view. In ancient Israel, the penalty for this sin was death, which
indicates how ugly of a sin adultery is viewed as (Bennett np). This is expressed in various texts
including The Scarlet Letter, noticed strongly within Pearl s character. Pearl is represented in the text
as something that came from something so ugly but is a pure and beautiful piece of nature. Pearl is
born as a result of sin and some people disagreed believing that she is a way to realize the
consequences and fix the actions. It is evident in The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly to Pearl and Hester, something so radiant came from a sinful act. A rosebush is mentioned
again when Hester and Pearl are visiting the Governor s house. Pearl wants a rose from the rosebush
she see s in the garden after being denied one she cries. This shows that a pure life is unattainable for
Pearl and Hester because they will forever be followed by the sin. The comparison between Pearl and
the rosebush that is in many chapters allows us to understand Pearl as more of a passionate person like
a rosebush than a result of a crime. Rosebushes have thorns and like Pearl has flaws it but they are
beautiful and pure.
An important part of this novel is placed in the forest. The forest is where Hester and Dimmesdale
meet and talk privately for the first time since the sin was committed. The forest symbolizes an escape
from rules and enters a place where chaos and magic is. This is where Pearl is free from society and
the isolation she experiences because of the rule and judgement in the town. Hester and Pearl as they
are walking through the forest notice gleams of sunshine shining through the clouds above them. Pearl
thinks the sunlight is hiding from Hester because of her sin and the letter she wears on her chest. Pearl,
being an innocent young girl, runs after the sunlight seeking to catch it, the light disappears from
Hester. The light that does not follow Hester represents that her sin follows her everywhere even in the
forest. Pearl says to Hester,

Disney s Folly
If you are looking for ways to make money, try thinking of something that you can offer to a niche
market which has not been offered before. One major problem in the world of Internet marketing is
that people are afraid to stand out and go against the grain. The truth is that most online business
websites look like one another.
Way back during the dot come boom, coming up with the next cutting edge solution was the ultimate
goal, and the actual business was secondary. The person who was most creative was the person who
would make the most money. In fact, even an amazingly novel idea was worth millions, or even
billions. Do you think I am being far fetched with this assertion? If so, visit your favorite search
engine, and type in the name Mark Cuban . How do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Facebook and Twitter, he was ridiculed in his early years. In fact, many business geniuses
are ridiculed prior to demonstrated success. For instance, the press doubted that Disneyland had a
chance of survival, and referred to it as Disney s Folly . Funny huh? I wonder who got the last laugh.
Just know that if you have an idea which goes against conventional thinking, expect people to put that
idea down. Just think back to the year 1996. You are excited because you have determined that you are
going to develop an online business in which you will give everything away for free. What do you
think would happen if you were to have shared this concept with your friends or family? They would
probably have given you their movie money and thanked you for the comedy.
The funny thing is that a company did actually develop on Internet business which was based on
giving away everything for free. This company is called Hotmail, and they gave their e mail platform
away for free at a time where everyone else was requiring either payment, or some sort of work or
scholastic affiliation. Hotmail was first, and Hotmail was, and still is

  • 2. Differences Of Hinduism And Hinduism Hinduism is one big family of beliefs that unites the worship of many gods with a belief in a single divine reality. Hinduism does not have an identifiable founder nor a structure in place to defend it and spread its guidance, or a creed to steady its beliefs. At first many of its teachings and scriptures were passed down orally but eventually, were written down for all to cherish. In Christianity we find that Jesus is the originator of this religion, and is purely a missionary religion. Traveling and branching out to as many people as possible to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ. Also, in similar sense there are many denominations within the religion that have different teachings but all usually lead to the same result, reaching heaven and living eternally with Christ himself. Hinduism has many deities that are worshipped. Depending on what type of deity you worship depends on one s own personality or age. The most common deities prayed to would be the three in the Trimurti. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva and represent the forces of creation, preservation, and destruction. Brahma is the god of creation and often depicted as having four faces looking in all directions and eight arms holding symbols of power. Vishnu is the god of preserving the universe and is often depicted as having four arms holding symbols of power and usually wears a tall crown. Shiva is the god of destruction but also recreation. Shiva could be the most misunderstood god in Hinduism because most people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The PRC and trading area, made an environment that pushed social facilitation and social learning theory to the limits. Plant parasitic nematodes are important factors affecting crop yield in all agricultural production zone, they cause global losses to crop plants with an estimated loss of ≥100 billion US$ per year Chitwood, 2003. They have been identified as one of the major pests affecting vegetables production throughout the world, particularly, in the tropical and sub tropical regions. More than 60 different species representing 19 genera of plant parasitic nematodes attack vegetables but the most destructive nematode is the root knot nematodes which belongs to the genus Meloidogyne which considered one of the most economically important group of plant parasitic nematode cause damage and high yield losses on most cultivated vegetables throughout the world. Over the past few decades, producers have relied mainly on nematicides and chemical fertilizers to control plant parasitic nematodes and improved soil fertility. But, continuing environmental problems associated with the thriving use of agrochemicals and the recent drive to produce food free of chemical residues have compelled nematologists worldwide to seek for alternative environmentally friend and safe methods for management crop production. • 6. Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Has Been Found Throughout the... Research has found that REM sleep has evolved to become part of the dreaming process otherwise known as REM sleep dreaming. Sleep with electroencephalographic evidence of the brain shows that a human s brain is awake during sleep because involuntary eye movement occurs. This occurs during the dreaming consciousness every human possesses which is part of the secondary consciousness every human has. There is also non REM sleep which is sleep that occurs without the rapid eye movement. The importance of REM sleep and dreaming has been studied for many years and has gradually become more informative. REM sleep is important for a human because it allows for developmental brain growth which furthers the evolution of humans. Rapid Eye Movement sleep is the process that allows for a person to recall what their dreams were about. The periods in which Rapid Eye Movement occurs are known as phasic periods and those periods that occur without Rapid Eye movement are known as tonic periods. Although people have come to the understanding that dreaming and recollection occur during the REM sleep period, there are still three theories as to how this occurs. The theories are: the scanning hypothesis, the activation synthesis hypothesis, and the sensory image free association hypothesis. The scanning process reflects the dreamer s voluntary watching of visual imagesduring the dreaming process. The activation synthesis hypothesis puts into context that rapid eye movement occurs at the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. • 21. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Essay Gulliver and the Grotesque The term scatological means to have an interest or preoccupation with the obscene. In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show but has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective Swift employs scatology as a means of satire. This invokes Swift s contemporary politics. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, balancing out the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. Realism in literature, refers generally to any artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an attempt to reflect life as it actually is. Swift uses the daily grotesque and bodily functions to both connect his audience and provoke disgust in them. By employing a blasé attitude when using this device, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. He accomplishes this because the grotesque is simply an exaggeration of reality. Swift also creates the character of Gulliver, a realist character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The difficulty with some supervisors is the ability to draw the line between having a personal relationship with their subordinates and a professional relationship. The resolution may range from simply counseling the subordinate, all the way up to possible disciplinary action. Approximately 25 percent of all law enforcement disciplinary action is due to drug use. (More amp; Miller, 2007) Supervisors must remain vigilant on possible drug use. This therefore suggests that businesses must use information to produce new innovative ideas which could benefit their business for example new packaging of sweets will attract customers to purchase the sweet and this could lead to an increase in sales. Moreover, Fawzy Soliman (2003) cites that Critical information plays a key and essential role for managing modern organisations, because of the large volumes of information and the resources required to process them, it has become necessary to develop a scheme for the identification of critical information. The characteristics of information that THB confectionery should use in their business are timeliness which means that the information is available, frequency information is updated, appropriateness to the task and the person performing the task, accuracy of the information, brevity the level of detail appropriate for the task. • 44. Swimsuit Alternate Ending We began to walk through town, Millard still had his arm linked around mine. Emma stopped at what looked like a clothing store she and the other girls pulled me inside. I glanced around the shop, amazed. These outfits were absolutely adorable, especially the swimsuits. I walked over to a light blue halter top swimsuit and took it off the rack. It s so pretty! Isn t it? I said with a bright smile. It definitely matches the dark blue streak in your hair. Bronwyn said with a soft smile. After a few minutes we finally came out. The boys sat bordly on the wooden bench outside the store. Millard instantly came up to me and once again linked arms with me. I heard the girls snickering behind me. My face flushed into a full red, I felt so embarrassed and so... helpless. After a few minutes we finally reached the beach, I felt the hot sand beneath my feet. I had already changed into the swimsuit while we were at the store, I was just focused on getting into the water. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I shook my head and began to swim back up, just then I felt someone grab my ankle, I let out a small yelp and attempted to kick at whatever was holding onto me. I kicked what ever hit me as hard as possible, finally making it let go of me. I swam up as fast as possible to the surface. As soon as I resurfaced, someone popped up next to me, Millard! You jerk! • 45. The Role Of Nature In The Scarlet Letter Adultery was and still is one of the most sinful acts one can commit. The Seventh Commandment is documented in Exodus 20:14: it states Thou shall not commit adultery (Bennett np). In the Bible, adultery is abhorrent in God s view. In ancient Israel, the penalty for this sin was death, which indicates how ugly of a sin adultery is viewed as (Bennett np). This is expressed in various texts including The Scarlet Letter, noticed strongly within Pearl s character. Pearl is represented in the text as something that came from something so ugly but is a pure and beautiful piece of nature. Pearl is born as a result of sin and some people disagreed believing that she is a way to realize the consequences and fix the actions. It is evident in The ... A rosebush is mentioned again when Hester and Pearl are visiting the Governor s house. Pearl wants a rose from the rosebush she see s in the garden after being denied one she cries. This shows that a pure life is unattainable for Pearl and Hester because they will forever be followed by the sin. The comparison between Pearl and the rosebush that is in many chapters allows us to understand Pearl as more of a passionate person like a rosebush than a result of a crime. Rosebushes have thorns and like Pearl has flaws it but they are beautiful and pure. An important part of this novel is placed in the forest. The forest is where Hester and Dimmesdale meet and talk privately for the first time since the sin was committed. The forest symbolizes an escape from rules and enters a place where chaos and magic is. This is where Pearl is free from society and the isolation she experiences because of the rule and judgement in the town. Hester and Pearl as they are walking through the forest notice gleams of sunshine shining through the clouds above them. Pearl thinks the sunlight is hiding from Hester because of her sin and the letter she wears on her chest. Pearl, being an innocent young girl, runs after the sunlight seeking to catch it, the light disappears from Hester. The light that does not follow Hester represents that her sin follows her everywhere even in the forest. Pearl says to Hester, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
