Should The Driving Age Be Raised To 18
On a daily basis, millions of teenagers around the United States use driving as their main source of
transportation. Many teens are interested in being able to drive at a younger age, even after obtaining a
driving permit, but it is unclear if they are able to handle such a monumental task. The driver s license
age requirement should be increased to the age of 18. Increasing the age requirement might not benefit
the teens that need reliable transportation to go to their workplace and support their family and
themselves financially, but some argue that earning income at such a young age is too much trouble
for an individual. The State of Virginia should raise the driving age to 18 because teenagers are
irresponsible and need more time to practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to TIME magazine, there have been cases where teenagers have caused traffic accidents
due to having road rage. This shows how teenagers have little control over their emotions while
driving which could cause accidents or lead to someone s death. In Fairfax High School, there are
many students who would fall asleep in class because they go to bed very late at night. This states how
students cannot manage their time wisely that can lead to their academic failure. In a recent poll by
Washington Post, 15% of teens are arrested for drinking and driving after partying at a friend s house.
This shows how teens are immature behind the wheel and don t consider about the safety of
themselves and the others around them when doing foolish acts. Obviously, the State of Virginia must
change the driving age to 18 because teenagers lack the make proper decisions behind the

Christianity And Hinduism .According To The Human Truth
Christianity and Hinduism According to the human truth foundation (2017) religions are shared
collection of transcendental beliefs that have been passed on from believers to converts, which are
held by adherents to be actively meaningful and serious and either based on formally documented
doctrine or established cultural practices. There are many religions in the world some are old as the
beginning of time and some are newer. Hinduism is one of the oldest organized religion in the world.
Hinduism originated around 1500 BCE in India by the involvement of thousands of different small
religions and their beliefs. Hinduism is a religion with very little boundaries, many different beliefs

They believe that other God and Goddess are the reincarnation of the one soul. They believe that there
were 600 different reincarnation of the one soul (Kauai s Hindus Monastery, 2017). Because of wide
beliefs they embrace Jesus as a guru. They do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God, just as
teacher like many others (All about religion.org (2017). However, Christianity is a monotheistic
religion, which only have one God. Christians believe in one true and living God, who exists as three
distinct: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit (Crain, 2017). Third difference between the Christianity and
Hinduism is each religions believes of soul and body connection. Christians believe that a person has
one soul and one body. That when a person dies the soul leaves this earth and go to a place called
heaven or hell. Soul of person sends to heaven or hell, depending on their actions in the earth.
However, the Hinduism believes that person s soul can be reincarnated to different life after bodily
death. They believe that life cycle will happen until that soul does actions to please the God. Hinduism
believes the people life and fate are interconnected with their previous life. Person s fate or events in
their life depend on their actions of their pervious life (Jayaram, 2015). Another difference between
the Hinduism and Christianity are their concept of sin. Christians believe when a person commits sin,

Dna Profiling
DNA profiling is a method of identifying an individual by unique characteristics of their DNA. A
specific DNA pattern, called a profile, is obtained from an individual or a sample of tissue. This
allows the comparison of the base sequence of two or more DNA samples to determine whether they
are related.
DNA profiling has many uses, in prevention of economic fraud, dietetic work, and classifying species,
identifying bodies, forensic science, screening for disease, and investigating paternity. Most
importantly DNA profiling is used in forensic science; used to identify who committed the crime. It is
estimated that roughly one percent of all criminal cases employ this technique. However, DNA
profiling has been used to acquit several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sarah Ley, Dietitian, says in the future we would expect to use DNA profiling to check out the risk of
getting a disease such as heart disease more closely and what sorts of reactions food might have for
some people.
The last common use for DNA profiling is for paternity testing. This can be used for immigration
issues by screening people claiming citizenship on the basis of their relations holding
British/American citizenship. If parents are unsure who is the father of a child a DNA sample can be
taken from the child and profiled beside that of the possible fathers and the result can be read against
that, resolving the paternity dispute.
DNA profiling meets human demand in all these categories of uses from keeping endangered species
safe to identifying killers. More detail to the cancer research is needed as a struggle for a cure is
continued. The recent sequencing of the human genome, coupled with advances in biotechnology, is
enabling the comprehensive molecular profiling of human tissues. In particular, DNA microarrays are
powerful tools for obtaining global views of human tumor gene expression. Complex information
from tumor expression profiling studies can, in turn, be used to create novel molecular cancer
diagnostics. DNA profiling of tumor DNAs may reveal important new diagnostic therapys targets to
improve prediction and treatment of advanced cancer patients. In a breast cancer study, the American

Equilibrium Constant Lab Report
Introduction The purpose of this lab was to find an equilibrium constant. The equilibrium constant was
for a reaction between propan 1 ol and ethanoic, or acetic, acid that formed water and the ester,
propylethanoate. A titration reaction was used to be able to calculate the concentrations of each
solution at equilibrium, and ultimately the equilibrium constant.1 In a titration, a solution with a
known concentration is added to a solution of an unknown concentration that contains an indicator. In
this experiment, phenolphthalein is used which is colorless in acidic solutions and red in basic
solutions. At its equivalence point, it is pink. In an experiment, this point marks when the
concentrations of hydronium and hydroxide are equal, so the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This was done by subtracting the acid correction value from the final acid concentration:
[ethanoic acid] = [H+ total] [H+ correction]
[ethanoic acid] = 6.90 M 0.64 M
[ethanoic acid] = 6.26 M
Next, it is known that at equilibrium, the concentrations of ethanoic acid and propan 1 ol are equal.
Because of this, it was known that the concentration of propan 1 ol was also 6.26 M.
From the overall reaction, it was also known that as the reaction progressed, ethanoic acid was
converted into propylethanoate. Because of this, the concentration of propylethanoate at equilibrium
could be calculated:
[propylethanoate] = [initial ethanoic acid] [equilibrium ethanoic acid]
[propylethanoate] = 10.71 M 6.26 M
[propylethanoate] = 4.45 M
Also from the formula, it was seen that the concentrations of water and propylethanoate would be
equal. Because of this, the concentration of water was also 4.45 M at equilibrium.
Finally, to calculate the equilibrium constant, all of these values were plugged into the equilibrium
constant expression:
Keq = [propylethanoate][water] / [ethanoic

Texas State Historical Association Case Study
History The Texas State Historical Association affirms that the city of Austin was established in 1839
as the Republic of Texas and was named after its founder Stephen F. Austin (Humphrey, 2010). Head
surveyor Edwin Waller was appointed to plan and construct Austin. Their intent was to have the city
ready by the time the Texas congress assembled in November 1839 so they built temporary
government buildings at temporary locations (Humphrey, 2010). By October government offices
opened, the first church was organized, and the Austin City Gazette, the city s first newspaper, made
its debut. In January of 1840, Waller was elected the town s first mayor. By that time, the city had 856
inhabitants, including 145 slaves (Humphrey, 2010). Initially ... Show more content on

The Importance Of Leadership By Reflecting On My Own...
Assessment 1
Introduction.
The qualities of leadership have...
To grow these qualities, it is important for individuals to possess awareness of their strengths and
areas ready for further development. This essay will examine the nature of leadership by reflecting on
my own strengths and weaknesses. A discussion of the key concepts of leadership and the role these
concepts have in organisations will aim to provide insights into those leadership attributes that such
organisations value. Consideration of my capacity to work with others by examining the roles that
leaders and followers currently play in my life will also contribute to the reflection of my own areas
ripe for potential development. To aid a consideration of my strengths, weaknesses and areas of
potential development, the results of some key assessments and material will be examined. These
include an extensive discussion of results from the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment,
and some related insights from the Five Factor or Big Five personality traits model as well as an
Emotional Intelligence indicator. The output of these assessments, as they have been applied to me,
will be evaluated against my own perception of self. Such reflections will also take into account
workplace materials and feedback that may appear to contradict or offer an alternative insight into the
assessment results. This essay will then consider some of the prominent ideas on leadership and their
place in modern organisations.

Suicide Is The Second Most Common Form Of Death Essay
Suicide is the second most common form of death in adolescence. Flip through any peer reviewed
journal article, and you will see that this is not just a myth. In fact, in Canada, 10.3 adolescent males
and females take their life for every 100,000 people in the national population every year (WHO,
2007). In the United States, that number is almost double at 17.8 adolescent males and females for
every 100,000 individual aged 15 24 (WHO, 2007). For over the last decade, researchers from all
parts of the world have been at work trying to piece together what it is that triggers and pushes
teenagers into making the ultimate decision and take their life. In Norway, researchers came up with
four possible factors: the parents regarding poor communication, previous suicidal ideation, alcohol
and drug abuse, and frequency and variances of depression and mental disorder developments
(Herrestad, Mehlum, Nrugham). In support of the finding, adolescents in Thailand who had attempted
suicide claimed that they had done so due to severe parenting criticisms, which threw them into a state
of depression and rendered them uncontrollable of their actions and emotions (Arunpongpaisal,
Rungreangkulkij, Sukhawaha, 2016). In another study conducted in the United States, Caucasian and
Hispanic adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18 claimed they were 1 1/2 times more likely to have
suicidal thoughts if they fell into an addiction with alcohol after having been sexually assaulted

Anne Bradstreet s Poetry In The 19th Century
Poets from the nineteenth century vary widely in subject, tone, and form. To remark that poets prior to
1865 are all the same is short sighted, as it denies the recurring themes and unique individual styles of
the poets. Readers can differentiate poets such as Anne Bradstreet, Phillis Wheatley, Edgar Allan Poe,
Walt Whitman, and Emily Dickinson through the poetic devices that they use and the recurring themes
or interests they have.
To begin, poets in the nineteenth century differ in whether they were intended to be published and if
they were accompanied with an authenticating document. An example of a poet whose work is mostly
based on personal experiences and feelings is Anne Bradstreet. Bradstreet s poems tend to focus on
her relationship with her husband ( A Letter to her Husband ), her children ( Before the Birth of One of
her Children ), and her faith ( Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House ). The
recurring themes that Bradstreet explores in her poetry center on ... Show more content on

Unlike Bradstreet, Wheatley s poems are a reflection on the Great Awakening revival that use colorful,
emotional language to emphasize the personal religious commitment as a sensory experience.
Wheatley s poetic voice is heavily inspired by sermons, which is most noticeable in her poem, To the
University of Cambridge.
Edgar Allen Poe s poetry is wildly different to both Wheatley s and Bradstreet s poetry. Poe s poems
have recurring elements of the Gothic and the supernatural. The Gothic and supernatural are
prominent in both the setting and the tone of Poe s poems. Poe tends to use repetition to signal the
importance of the line or word, such as nevermore, to create the unity of effect. The repetition of
nevermore also alludes to the speaker being haunted over the loss of his beloved Lenore and
demonstrates the decay of the speaker s sanity, which is elevated by the speaker s grief and

Civil War Weaponry
Ketchum Grenades
In August of 1861, William F. Ketchum patented the Ketchum Hand Grenade. Shortly after, in the
years of 1863 and 1864, the grenade was implemented in the American Civil War.
With a lemon shaped piece of iron and a tail made of paper or cardboard, the handheld explosive
greatly resembled a dart. On the front of the grenade s body was a plunger, which held a percussion
cap filled with explosive material. When the the grenade fell onto its nose and applied pressure to the
plunger, an explosion was triggered, only to be met by more gunpowder inside. Although the resulting
explosion caused a great deal of mayhem and shrapnel, it was not very reliable because its detonation
depended on the grenade falling directly onto its nose. Because of its temperamental behavior, the
grenade got a reputation for not being very accurate.
During its use by the Union army, the weapon was still in its earliest stages. Although the Confederate
army did not adopt this specific weapon, they had similar ideas such as the Raines grenade, which was
similar in appearance, but completely inadequate for battle. Instead of cardboard fins for a stable
flight, the Raines grenade had a cloth streamer.
Ketchums were used in several important battles such as the battle of Vicksburg and the siege of
Petersburg. Union soldiers threw the grenades at the Confederate troops and stood back for the
explosion. They were faced with an unpleasant surprise when the Confederates found a way to avoid

Sex Has Been A Physiological Study For Over Multiple...
The studies of sex have been a physiological study for over multiple centuries. Researchers such as
psychologist John Watson, gynecologist Robert Latou Dickinson, and biologist Alfred Kinsey have all
studied areas and/or ideas about sex. One researcher also is known to be a famous author, decided to
also research and find a team of well known researchers to discover the secret to amazing, mind
rippling sex (Roach 298.) Through interviews, traveling, and personal experiments, Mary Roach
found that she believes sex is far more than the sum of its moving parts (Roach 128). Sex is far more
than just the functions of each organ used in intercourse. In the book Bonk, Mary convinces her
husband to partake in a lab research experiment for her to personal experience and understanding of
research tools that were used in the past. After the experience, Mary claims the atmosphere and
emotion of sex resemble nothing of what actually goes on during the time the couple is intimate alone
and at home (Roach 128). The environment in which sex research is being done can help determine
the outcome of the results. For example, the romance and adrenaline produced in the attic of Kinsey
house can be different than romance and adrenaline produced in a lab as well as in the couple s own
house. Where the intimacy is taking place can cause a lack of adrenaline as well as performance.
Emotions and hormones produced during sex changes can impact the results of the experience causing

Declaration Of Independence Rhetorical Analysis
1B) The Declaration of Independence uses several rhetorical strategies, making the argumentative
testament of the wrongdoings of the king an effective in pursuing equality for all men. Jefferson
utilizes logos, pathos and ethos to prove his point to the country holding their liberty prisoner.
Jefferson s use of logos begins with stating the obvious reason the king should set the people free: the
people have the right to the pursuit of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness (2). The King has not
done good to the people, in fact he has refused to pass the laws necessary to create order, dissolved
representative houses, cut off trade, and imposed unlawful taxes upon the people. They have the basic
human rights given to them by God that should set them free from the tyrannical king. Some of the
emotional side of Jefferson s views slip into this argument, such as mankind are more disposed to
suffer, while evils are sufferable (5). While stating further wrongdoings, Jefferson s use of pathos
increases, raising the rage of the republic at the injustice of the rules they have been subjected to. He is
at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death,
desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty perfidy scarcely paralleled in the
most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation (26). Jefferson calls for a
sense of empathy from the crown and establishes a sense of severe discontent

The Age Of Revolutions And The Modern World
The Age of Revolutions and the Modern World
Name:
Institution:
Introduction
The period from 1774 to 1848, is referred to as the Age of Revolution. This is because it saw various
significant revolutionary movements take place that gave way to the complex modern world. These
revolutions took place in different regions in Europe and across America. Some of the revolutions
include: American Revolution, the Haitian Revolution, the revolt of the slaves in Latin America, the
Greek Revolution, the French Revolution, and the independence movements of nations in Latin
America. These revolutions are considered to have impacted the world as they changed different
aspects of society including social setup, political aspects and the economic set up of the world
(Matson, 2005).
The term modernization refers to the transformation or change of a society from a rural and agrarian
position to a more urban, secular and industrial position. Modernization developed rapidly after the
age of revolution and changed the society. The idea of modernization is derived from the notion of an
evolutionary society. This involves the transition of society from barbarism to a developed and ...

events that led to the rise of these revolutions. Some of these factors include citizens of each state
being treated unfairly by those in power. Initially there were a number of riots which erupted to protest
tis misuse of power. The American Revolution, for example, started in mid 1770s, with the Battle of
Lexington. The American Revolutionary War was a fight for the independence from the colonial rule
of the British. The French revolution started a decade after the American revolution. Similar to the
American revolution, the French revolution occurred following the desire to change the political

Social Media On Real World Friendships And Interactions
Social media does impede on real world friendships and interactions because it takes away from one
on one emotional experience with close friends which is vital for a happier and healthier life. Social
media is ruining true friendships and conversation. Social media takes away from face to face
relationships that are so important. Face to face relationships requires commitment, time, and
nurturing. Social media sites impede on relationships by threating true friendships. Face to face
relationships are very important because through contact we are getting live interaction, trust, honesty,
and integrity. Face to face conversations are more positive and more reliable than friendships online.
In cyber space you convers ate with friends but some will not acknowledge the friendship in public.
Social media is slowly taking away from face to face relationships, because we contact our family and
friends on the computer screen. We are typing while looking at the screen instead of seeing facial
expressions. Therefore, we aren t sure if they are interpreting what we are saying in a negative or
positive way. Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Instagram, and Flicker was invented
to keep us in touch and keep us closer to our family and friends. But according to How Facebook ruins
Friendships we took our friendship online (Bernstein). First we began communicating more by email

Standard Definition Algorithm For A Wired Network
Part 1:
Question 1
Standard Definition Algorithm Suggested Use
WEP A wireless protocol that is intended to deliver the privacy comparable to that of a wired network.
RC4 No longer used unless it is for lessons in hacking. Big security flaws and easy to hack.
WPA This protocol offers more data encryption than WEP and also offers user authentication. RC4
with TKIP This is used with older devices. But these may still need an update through firmware so
they will be compliant.
WPA2 This protocol offers CCMP (Counter Cipher Mode with Block Chaining Message
Authentication Code Protocol) as the replacement of TKIP. AES Only used in newer devices.
(Dulaney Easttom, 2014) (How To Geek, n.d.)
Question 2 Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) is an encryption protocol that is included in the
IEEE 802.11i standard for wireless LAN networks. It helps provide more encryption security than
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). TKIP uses its algorithms to protect WEP s security flaws and allows
the users of older devices to upgrade without replacing any hardware. These algorithms are additional
code at the beginning and end to capture and modify WEP. TKIP uses RC4 as its foundation but it also
includes four more algorithms to increase strength: cryptographic message integrity check,
initialization vector sequencing mechanism, per packet key mixing function, and re keying
mechanism. Although, TKIP is used for upgrading security on devices equipped with WEP, it isn t

Central Line Clinical Practice Guideline Rational Central venous catheters (CVCs) are frequently used
in intensive care units (ICUs) for a number of reasons (measure central venous pressure, when
peripheral veins are unable to be accessed, administration of medications/therapies and aspiration of
blood samples) (Conroy, 2006, p. 98). Patients in this environment already have an increased risk of
infection because of their treatments. Patient treatments commonly involve invasive devices or
interventions (major surgery), antibiotic therapy (raises the risk of bacterial resistance) while steroid,
chemotherapy and radiation therapy all suppress the immune system (Hatler, Hebden, Kaler, Zack,

This means aseptic technique and sterile gloves should be used for insertion and care of a CVC.
Aseptic technique is critically important to protect patients from CLABSIs; infections are caused by
either intrinsic (e.g. patients own flora) or extrinsic (e.g. surrounding environment) pathogens. Asepsis
therefore removes patients skin flora and ensures flora picked up from either other patients or the
surrounding environment is not introduced into the patient (Mollee et al., 2011). Raad et al. (1994)
found in a randomised trial that CLABSIs were 6.3 times higher in a control group then those who had
their CVC inserted under maximal barrier precautions (consisting of mask, cap, sterile gloves, gown,
large drape). These findings were replicated by Abi‐Said et al. (1999) who also found that if strict
aseptic techniques were adhered too during dressing changes, in addition to close monitoring of
patients there was a decrease in bloodstream infection rates. As described above CLABSIs are more
common when aseptic techniques at the time of insertion have not been observed. Contamination of
catheters by skin flora at the time of insertion is one of the risks for developing a subsequent CLABSI.
Therefore CVCs need to be replaced within 48hrs if asepsis cannot be guaranteed for insertion
(LeMaster et al., 2010). For insertion and during care of a CVC

Wildlife Conservation As A Career For Wildlife Conservation
Wildlife Conservation is the practice of protecting wild plant and animal species and their habitats.
Wildlife plays an important role in balancing the environment and provides stability to different
natural processes of nature. One of the ways to participate in wildlife conservation is by being a
Wildlife Officer, also known as a Fish and Game Warden. Wildlife Officers enforce hunting and
fishing regulations and help protect fish and game populations to keep them at healthy levels. They
also help carry out wildlife management programs and conduct research by inventorying animals and
their habitats. The work of Wildlife Officers help protect and preserve wildlife for future generations
and maintain the earth s ecosystem. I want to be a part of this career and enjoy the things most people
don t ever get to. Knowing my interest in this career field, I did an interview with a previous Wildlife
Officer in Arkansas. My interviewee was Todd Calloway, a retired Wildlife Officer who worked for
the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for 32 years. He started working for AGFC on April 1, 1984
and retired on June 30, 2016. His interest in pursuing this career started at a very young age when his
father/grandfather introduced him to the great outdoors through hunting and fishing. They taught him
to respect the outdoor resources that Arkansas had to offer and that s when he sent a goal to be a part
of the AGFC. He got a degree in criminal justice and when he became a Wildlife Officer, he

Lasse Hallstrom s Choolat And La La Land Summary
Dreams are only fulfilled in fantasies. In Lasse Hallstrom s Chocolat and Damien Chazelle s La La
Land, both authors explore the importance of sacrifice, drive and perseverance in achieving one s
dream in spite of all the obstacles. Through the use of imagery of colour, characterisation and setting,
Hallstrom and Chazelle share insight on what it is like to have a dream in today s society, that there
are many obstacles for disheartening, but that all the hardships are worth it.
Judgement and criticism were concepts far too familiar to Hallstrom and Chazelle s characters, Vianne
and Mia. Hallstrom suggests that from the moment that Vianne entered into the French town, she was

that the project she became successful in required her to go to Paris. Whether it be love, home or

Colour is an important image in both Chazelle and Hallstrom s texts. Throughout La La Land,
Chazelle incorporates an abundance of bright colours in the backdrop and the clothing. However, after
travelling five years into the future, the characters are dressed in darker and duller outfits. Chazelle s
use of bright colours suggests the feeling of having hope, dreams and fantasy whilst the duller colours
imply maturity and the reality of life. Hallstrom also uses imagery of colour to describe the

smoky air. This not only lends a feeling of authenticity for the setting and time period, it also reflects
the sudden outbursts of violence prevalent throughout the rest of the film. LaMotta himself is
shrouded in his robe and shadows, making his face impossible to see, however his gloved fists are
easily seen as he gracefully throws jabs and stalks the left side of the ring. This introduces his fists as a
motif that is repeated throughout the film. For example, LaMotta sees his hands as being too small,
later he abuses them against a cell wall, and most obviously are a symbol of his livelihood. His fists
are a tool, which he uses to punish others, as well as himself. The scene cuts to a sign, in the middle of
the screen, that reads An Evening with Jake LaMotta and the audience hears the voice of LaMotta for
the first time, which will lead to the next scene. The use of the word evening signals the transition that
is about to take place. The audience has seen LaMotta early in his career and now are about to witness
him in his career s twilight. This short scene ends when a man crosses in front of the sign, creating a
swiping effect. Now, the third scene begins. The viewer is presented a medium shot of an older,
overweight, and sloppy LaMotta. Juxtaposing the composition of the opening scene where LaMotta is

Home Energy Conservation
Home Energy Conservation So you think the cost of gas is outrageous? Most Americans do. The
controversies in the Middle East and recent environmental disasters have made the cost of many
natural resources, like oil, sky rocket. So imagine the amount of oil needed to power your car and
compare that to the amount of oil needed to heat your home. Home energy conservation is a way that
Americans can counter act the estimated high costs to heat, cool or light their residence. In the old
days energy conservation was as simple turning off a light when you left a room, or setting a timer on
your thermostat to regulate when your heat or air conditioning came on. These techniques are still
valuable but America, and the world, has taken a more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More effective response to the challenges of increasing complexity in NRM requires a shift in
thinking from the linearity of research extension farmer to alternative, multiple actor institutional

actual impact, it also suggests an alternative to conventional impact assessment in natural resource
management interventions. (Environment, 2007) Economic Issues Geothermal energy uses the natural
heat beneath the earth s surface. In home and commercial installations geothermal systems can
provide effective heating and cooling abilities. The system relies on the average 50 degree temperature
of the earth s soil below the frost line. The depth of this temperature is usually found at about 6 to 10
feet below the surface. The system provides both heating and cooling abilities by transferring heat
energy through water exchange. Water filled coils are buried at a specified depth in the soil (Hefler,
2007). Depending upon whether heating or cooling is needed the system either absorbs heat from the
earth or dissipates heat into the soil via the water filled tubes. Advantages of Geothermal Energy
Production There are some key advantages to geothermal energy production. One advantage is that a
single system can provide both heating

Analysis Of Down These Mean Streets
Down These Mean Streets
Down These Mean Streets is novel written by Piri Thomas, he writes about his life as a child growing
up in New York during the 1930s. However, since his parents were Puerto Rican immigrants he was
doing very well in his new environment. He couldn t make any friends, since the other kids made fun
of him because of his race and his family didn t have a lot of money since his parents were unable to
find a job. He wrote this story as an autobiography to let all of the readers know what he had to go
through during his childhood.
Even though his parents were from Puerto Rico, Piri himself was born in the United States when his
parents moved there. He was born on September 20th, 1928 in East Harlem of New York City. When
he was growing up, his family lived in section of the city called Spanish Harlem where most spanish
speaking immigrants also lived. However, as he grew up there, he would eventually realize that life
was not very easy for people like him.
Spanish Harlem is a neighborhood in Upper Manhattan, despite its name, it is not actually a part of
Harlem. It is known as one of the largest Latino communities in New York, the residents there are
mostly Puerto Ricans but there are also people from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and even Mexico.
Interestingly, the neighborhood was originally made up of Italians, but they pretty much declined
when the Spanish immigrated to America after the events of the First World War. Even though the
Spanish now made

Leopard Man Essay
It would be a good idea to change your feelings, looks, beliefs, or actions because you could have
friends just like you, you can be different but be yourself. It may be safer, or better to be a conformist
because you can fit in and no one will make fun of you or judge you if you fit in. If you would want to
change your beliefs that would be a big change, but if that s what you want to do that s ok but just
know you re changing on what you believe in. The dangers of conforming could be trouble because
maybe you start to change your body and looks so that would mean it would be much harder to get a
job. Their are pros and cons to changing yourself the pros may sound better but they re not. Like look

Feys is saying that society is pressuring us to all change, but in reality you don t see much people
change themselves. Feys says to be a human you need talents, taste, values, and dreams, but I don t
believe that I believe all humans are humans by being themselves by doing what they want they don t
need talents to be human. The author talks about how Leopard Man has changed for society s demand,
but Leopard Man says he did not change for the society he said he s on a paradise which is earth and
society can keep what they got. I just don t believe with what Feys says in most of this article because
what evidence does he show how a human should be a human. Logan Feys just doesn t know what he
is talking about I think that because if you read paragraph 2 he says people that change are desperate
for society s attention, but then if you read paragraph 9 he said he doesn t judge people when clearly
he judged saying they want attention. For my personal experience I don t judge people that change if
they change for happiness that s fine, but they don t change for attention why would they change their

Advantages Of Sensitivity Analysis
In proper terms, the risk is related with project can be well defined as the changeability that is
probably to take place in the forthcoming earnings from the project. The larger the inconsistency of
the predictable returns will indicate the riskier project. On the other hand, risk can be restrained more
accurately. From the research, it has been found out that there are many significant in capital

Meaning And Definition Of Ledger By J. R. Batliboi
Meaning and Definition of Ledger
According to J.R. Batliboi , The ledger is the chief of accounts and it is in this book that all the
business transactions would ultimately find their place under their accounts in a duly classified form.
A Ledger should be kept in the form of bound register, or in the form of cards or in punched sheets or
it can be in the form of loose leaf binder. Every account in the ledger is opened preferably or it can be
in a separate page or card
These all business transactions are first recorded in Journal or Special Purpose Subsidiary Books. The
next step is to transfer the entries to the respective accounts in Ledger. In other words this shows that

Facebook Has Changed The Way People Communicate With Each...
Facebook, a social networking website, has changed the way people communicate with each other. A
social networking website is an online platform that allows users to create a public profile and interact
with other users on the website. Facebook has even changed our most personal and private
conversations and how they are conducted around the world. Since the internet s birth in 1983, this
trend of online communication has been growing. Created in 2004, now registered with more than one
billion participants, Facebook s user numbers surpass even the top four social networking websites
combined. According to Wikipedia statistics, Instagram has 300 million registered users, LinkedIn has
200 million users, Classmates.com has 50 million users, and Flickr has 32 million registered users. To
be further convinced of the claim that Facebook indeed changes the way we communicate, you would
only need to create your own Facebook account and start participating in their social networking
experience. Technology and internet usage is fused into every aspect of our society including the style
of communication. The launch of Facebook in 2006 also enabled other devices such as touch phones,
interactive tablets, and even advanced cars with their own networking capabilities starting in 2007.
Facebook is a multibillion dollar company and is highly recognized for connecting more people than
other networks. Facebook s long term success can be attributed to providing entertainment, world

The Four Temperaments Of The Keirsey Sorter
Describe the four temperaments of the Keirsey Sorter
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter (KTS) is a self assessed questionnaire that is intended to help people
understand the personality of others and themselves. Embracing the ideas of ancient Greeks, Keirsey
developed the Temperament Sorter. He was intrigued by the work Kretschmer and Sheldon in the late
1940s, which comprised of the study of the human physique and criminality (Kretschmer, 1970).
Finally, Keirsey was introduced to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in the late 50 s and
developed the modern temperament sorter, known at the Keirsey Temperament Sorter (Keirsey, 1994).
The KTS and MBTI are closely associated as two personality questionnaires but Myers types groups

Future Goals Analysis
Future Goals:
In the fall of 2017 I will be attending Lycoming College. I am currently undecided on what I will be
majoring in but, I do know one thing. I want to travel. I want to see all that the world has to offer and
see every corner of the globe possible. Thankfully, my college has a very nice study abroad program
and they have an organization that is called Habitat for Humanity that takes many trips throughout the
year. Even though that I am going into college undecided I do have some choices in mind for my
career one of them being Political Science. With my political science degree I could become a political
advocate for a community or cause.
I am currently terrified that I will not find the career that fits me. I have so many options ahead for me,
but I can not seem to find the right fit. I want to travel and be able to help people but a lot of the jobs
pertaining to humanities do not always have the greatest salaries. What happens if I can not find a job

second fear was realized, what if I can not make any friends? One of the biggest ones I have for

Philosophers During The Age Of Enlightenment
Today s society would be different if it weren t for the four French philosophers for the individual
freedom, freedom in government, religion, economy, and gender equality. The four great philosophers
were John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft who changed our society and
shaped the capitalistic democratic world that we live in today. These philosophers lived in a time of
new ideas, known as the Age of Enlightenment. These are the main ideas of the enlightenment.
John Locke (1632 1704) was the main of the philosophers. At the time that time, he lived in an
absolute monarchy. That was when the king or queen ruled and sometimes asked for advice. When the
English Parliament passed the Bill of Rights in 1689, it inverted the

Institutionalized Inequalities
Institutionalized inequalities, a societal prejudice against others through a community or organization,
is a prevalent issue within the novel, The Bluest Eye , written by Toni Morrison. The use of racial
discrimination, gender roles, and class structures construct these inequalities, and illustrates the
immoral high road that institutions in the 20th century would follow along. Pecola Breedlove, the
main character and the person who falls to victim most frequently, endures numerous setbacks and
obstacles that contribute to the analysis on how The Bluest Eye creates such disparities. As Wall

An example of an institution that promotes internalized racism would be the school in which Claudia,
Pecola, and Frieda attend. Maureen Peal, the new kid to the neighborhood, arrives with her head held
high on top of her even higher horse. Maureen is a light skinned African American middle classed girl
who is held to the highest regard around school, and who kicks those of whom are darker and poorer
to the curb. As we have discussed before, there is a scene in which Maureen offers to walk home with
Claudia and her sister Frieda. The walk is interrupted abruptly after running into a crying Pecola in the
center of a circle of male classmates taunting her. The boys shout slurs at her about her father and her
skin tone, completely disregarding that they themselves were black, or that their father had similarly
relaxed habits (65) In regards to internalized racism, Morrison states that they seemed to have taken
all of their smoothly cultivated ignorance, their exquisitely learned self hatred, their elaborately
designed hopelessness and sucked it all up into a fiery cone of scorn that had burned for ages in the
hollows of their minds. (65) Maureen stands idly by while Claudia and Frieda help in saving Pecola
from the ruthlessness of the African American boys who hate her for something they all have in
common, but the boys finish their taunting because of the stigma surrounding Maureen and her light
skin. Maureen takes this time to console Pecola, walking the girls towards the ice cream parlor, and
pretending to be anything but sinister. The gears switch, Maureen starts bombarding Pecola with
questions of her naked father, and in the end regards Pecola as black and ugly while regarding herself
as light and cute. Exposing the African American community of a deep seeded hatred in their
community towards the blackest sheep.

Persuasive Essay About Torture
Please, please stop it! Just make it stop I ll tell you anything! Please, Ella screams. She tries to tell the
attackers the truth, but, regardless of what she says, they don t believe her. Under these circumstances,
she decides to lie and tell them exactly what they want to hear. Torture is pointless because people will
lie in order for the pain to stop and the interrogators have no accurate strategy to know if it is a lie or
the truth, it impairs memory, and the interrogators can be torturing people who are truly not involved.
For these reasons, torture is ineffective at guaranteeing a truthful confession and should be banned as
an information gathering strategy. Numerous people believe that if someone knows information that
puts them in a situation of being tortured then, they must deserve it anyhow. Along with that idea,
others simply believe that everyone has a breaking point where if one does enough to someone, they
will end up telling the truth. It can furthermore be viewed that torture is for the greater good. These
people feel as though the torture and pain of a few people is better than the possible murder of
innocent civilians (Mackler). Plenty of people are under the impression that those who are tortured do
not receive any serious permanent damage. Although a handful of the population believes that torture
will overall help, torturing someone will rarely ever help a situation. People will do whatever it takes

Nora s Transformation Essay
Throughout the dramatic play titled A Doll House , Henrik Ibsen s creation of the character Nora
changes immensely from the beginning to the end of the work. Some people may argue and question
the intentions of Nora, and describe her as a despicable and selfish woman; however, I see her as a
courageous and selfless woman, who longs to be treated as an equal to men. Nora s sacrifice for her
husband at the beginning unravels throughout the entirety of the play, and reveals a boundless
transformation of Nora into strong woman, who thrives off of the idea of becoming an equal, self
sufficient lady as she makes the brave decision to leave her family to better herself. In 1879 when this
drama was written, the duties of a woman rested solely on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Safak explains this deeper by saying, Nora demonstrates her strength in the last act of the play and she
distinguishes herself from the other members of her gender, who follow a mob mentality in the
general frame of the traditional woman perception (Safak 144). Nora did something for herself that
would have been unspeakable in her time of living during 1879. Women were supposed to be
dependent on a man for safety, security, and money, which Nora relied heavily on in the beginning of
the play. Now, she ventures out of the normal comfort zone of ladies and states, No, that s exactly it.
You don t understand me. And I ve never understood you either until tonight. No, don t interrupt. You
can just listen to what I have to say. We re closing out accounts, Torvald (Isben 866). This bold
decision to move on with her life, without the help of a man, is respectable and courageous of Nora.
From the beginning to the end of the play, Nora expresses reliance on others to self reliance. She
became a self sufficient woman, which she had been practicing with throughout the play while she
worked tirelessly to pay back the loan taken out for Torvald. Perhaps she panned her departure from
the opening of the play because she knew what the outcome would be. At last, she freed herself from
the caged Doll House and became a strong, independent

Summary Of The Emancipation Proclamation
In the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, Abraham Lincoln states that if the Southern states did
not end their rebellion by January 1st, 1863, that Proclamation would go into effect. When the South
did not follow these terms, Lincoln issued the final Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st, 1863.
This document helped lead the way to the total removal of slavery from the entire United States and
the creation of the thirteenth Amendment. The author of the Emancipation Proclamation is the
sixteenth president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln who served from March 1861 to his
assassination in April 1865. Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky and was largely a
self educated man. Later in Lincolns life he became a lawyer in Illinois, a Whig party leader, and
elected the Illinois House of Representatives. In 1846, he was elected to the United States House of
Representatives but shortly afterwards returned to Illinois to resume his law career. When he decided
to get back into politics in 1854 he became a leader in the building of the new Republican Party which
had popularity in Illinois. During Lincolns campaign for US Senator from Illinois he participated in
highly publicized debates with his opponent, Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, where he spoke against
slaveries expansion. He often expressed his dislike for slavery in public and private, and eventually
wanted to bring end to slavery. In 1860, Lincoln became the Republican Party presidential nomination

Loving daughter and sister

So long and goodnight. I heard Gerard sing loud and proud. It was my funeral and I m laying with my
eyes closed, not able to see my best friends. I could feel Gerard s tears without even looking at him.
Funerals are sad but I could never deal with having my best friend like this. The only thing I never got
about funerals is why they dress you up to be pretty. I mean, you re dead for Pete s sake. Nobody in
heaven or hell is going to judge you on what you re wearing, well I hope not. The dress I wore was
pretty though. It had red and black lacing on it. I don t know who picked it out but this dress was from
the party that I first met the boys at and that was pretty fun.

necklace was one my mother gave me when I was little before she passed. I looked in the mirror and I
gripped the charm on the necklace. My brother then walked into the room and placed a calming hand

Stereotypes In Hollywood Stereotypes
A deep look into some Latino performances shows the heroes who have withstood and undermined the
stereotyping system however much they were involved in the Hollywood films where stereotyping is
accustomed. Actors have less to contribute to the authorship as they are hired and are supposed to act
wherever scene they are assigned to serve. Latino actors may not necessarily be considered Latino
enough to take part in a scene; this has become a casting practice. Worse still we have actors from
specific ethnic groups who cannot stand up and depart from stereotypes. Actor s original performance
is not appreciated in a way that during production the actor follows every instruction from makeup
artists to the director. Lack of appreciation frustrates the contribution of the film artist. Performance
should include body movement, gestures, facial expression and voice which should not make the
character disappear into actor or actor going into the character. The only way Latino actors will feature
to be less stereotypical is by embracing the true artist performance. A case to show countering
Hollywood stereotype is evident through characters like Lupe Velez s energetic in an uncontrolled way
performance, Jose Ferrer s sweet and soothing voice, and Gilbert Roland s attention capturing costume
and upright posture. We have some actors who have defied the pre assumed concept of stereotype and
have tried their best in countering stereotyping. Lupe Velez who was brought to limelight

been lifted from their shoulders. The Samsa s decide they should clean their home and dispose of
anything that brings the thought of Gregor to their minds. Mr. Samsa consumed with anger and disgust
does not dare to go inside of Gregor s dormitory. When the time comes however, to re arrange what
used to belong to their son, Gregor s mother and sister enter the room. The room is dark and
melancholy, corners cannot be seen and the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that a hand pops out of the sheet attempting to nail the floor in extreme anxiety, attempting to
latch on the floor with prematurely grown fingernails. The second hand creeps out equally doing the
same both arms fumbling about due to the slimy fluid from inside the corpse. Upon slipping the
mystifying figure collapses on the side of his face and cries out in pain, What has happened to me! He
screams. Instantly Mrs. Samsa recognizes that tone as her own, it is her son. With all fear abolished
from her body she runs to help him and attempts to relieve him from his pain, both forces work
chaotically against each other. Once up Gregor takes hold of the sheet in which he perished in, and
with it conceals his privates. The two women stare in astonishment at one s son and the other s
brother.
The plans for a new dwelling for the Samsa s have been postponed, once more due to Gregor s
condition, his father is not pleased. As days pass Gregor dwells in his bed complaining of soreness
every time he moves about. For the past few days all Gregor does is gorge down food and sleep an
unheard of amount of hours. A week later Gregor decides to get up from his bed, he enters the kitchen
and he finds no servant, but instead his sister Grete, who before departing for work makes him
something to eat. She still works as a salesgirl, nothing had changed in the Samsa s residence, only
Gregor s exterior. He pulls up a

The Role Of Muckraking In Haiti
In total, the American Red Cross has received $488m in donations to aid in rebuilding the poor
neighborhood of Campeche in Haiti s capital city, Port Au Prince (Sullivan et al.). With this copious
amount of money, the organization has only built six permanent homes in all of Haiti. Where did all of
that money go, and why hasn t it been used to provide assistance to the poor country? Thanks to
muckraking done by NPR and ProPublica s investigative journalists, there has been information
uncovered about the American Red Cross s scandal. Muckraking does still exist as demonstrated by
Laura Sullivan and Justin Elliot s 2015 series, How the Red Cross Raised Half a Billion Dollars for
Haiti and Built Six Homes . ProPublica and NPR published Laura ... Show more content on

The prime minister of Haiti (who served when the earthquake hit), Jean Max Bellerive, publicly
criticized the American Red Cross by saying that the Haitian government needs to take legal actions
that demand accountability. Another castigator, U.S. representative Rick Nolan, a Democrat from
Minnesota, has called for the House oversight committee to hold hearings regarding the Red Cross s
plan to help Haiti. Many other angry calls for investigation have been made in other states. The
American Red Cross finished off the conference by ending with a statement from Red Cross
spokeswoman, Jana Sweeney. The Red Cross is happy to talk with any member of Congress who has
questions about our relief work in Haiti, or elsewhere, she said

The History Of Rock And Roll Music
In the following decade of the 1960s Rock n Roll music became more accepted and began to evolve
from the Rockabilly sound audiences have grown to know before to a freer sound. However, the 1960s
was also the time of the infamous saying Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll became the reality of the newly
found style of music. Rock music found its self in its own category and dominated in the popular
music scene and with that many new styles of rock emerged. Such as: surf, psychedelic, hard rock,
and protest just to name a few. These categories of rock came from experimenting and they have their
own distinct sound. For example, Surf Rock began in Southern California, it was mainly popular
dance music that was mostly instrumental from the early

Examination of The History of the Ojibway People by William W. Warren
The goal of this paper is to provide an examination of the book The History of the Ojibway People by
William W. Warren as well as express some of what I learned about the book, the author and the
Ojibway people. William W. Warren, born of a white father and Ojibway mother, used his fluent
familiarity with the Ojibway language and his tremendous popularity with both whites and Indians to
document the traditions and oral statements of the Ojibway people at a time when the future of their
existence was in jeopardy.
Why did I choose this book to read and review? Every summer for eight years my wife and I took a
group of approximately 20 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1851 he was asked to write a series of articles for The Minnesota Democrat newspaper on the
Ojibway people. These articles were the beginning stages of what became The History of the Ojibway
People . William wrote several articles for the newspaper and eventually finished the manuscript for
the first, of what was to be a many volume series of books on the Ojibway people, in 1853. Upon
returning home from a trip to a New York publisher, William Warren died of a severe hemorrhage at
the young age of 28.
Although William died before he could finish all of the volumes he planned and before he could get
the work published, 32 years later, the Minnesota Historical Society first published the work as an
early and unique contribution to the field of Ojibway history and culture. As stated in the introduction,
written by W. Roger Buffalohead,
This book offers intriguing reading, full of tantalizing tales. One can only wonder how much more
would be known about the Ojibway today if Warren had been able to finish his other volumes, instead
of carrying his knowledge of his people into an early grave (p.xiii).
Warren s success can be attributed to the the high regard and popularity that he, the young man of
mixed Ojibway and Euro American heritage, enjoyed among both Ojibway and white people. Again,
Buffalohead states, It is true that Warren won the friendship, trust, and confidence of tribal members
throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin; it is also certain that he was

Essay about The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A...
The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House What does it mean to be a hero? According
to Webster, a hero is someone of great strength [and] courage who is admired for his or her courage
and nobility. 1 Stretching this definition a bit further, I would argue that a hero is someone who uses
this strength, courage, and nobility to help or save others. Nora Helmer, in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s
House, leaves her husband and family at the end of the play a move that can be viewed as either very
selfish or very heroic. Because Nora uses her strength and courage in effort to save others and herself
from the false doll s house life they are living in, her final act of leaving home is truly heroic. Nora

This can be seen when she calls her youngest child her sweet little baby doll, and later when she
reassures her children that the doggies wouldn t bite [her] pretty little dollies (22).2 Nora seems to be
overlooking the fact that these little, doll like figures are real people that she is responsible for. In this
same scene, Nora plays hide and seek, laughing and shrieking, with her kids (23). As the argument
that Nora is being selfish states, she is her children s playmate. Yet, shouldn t a mother be more than
just a fellow playmate? A mother has a responsibility to teach and train her children, not just play with
them. This scene is the only time we see direct interaction between Nora and her kids; it suggests that
being a playmate or else using them as her play toys, are two of the only ways Nora knows how to be
a mother. Nora herself admits to Torvald, in their final confrontation, that the children have been my
dolls who thought it was fun when I went and played with them (81). Later in the play, after this first
scene with her children, when Nora is talking to Anne Marie, we can see that she is making efforts to
ensure that her children will be cared for if even if she is not there to raise them. Anne Marie is the
only mother Nora has ever had and, as Nora says, she was a good mother to [Nora] when [she] was
little (36). Nora goes on to say, And if my little ones only had

  • 2. Should The Driving Age Be Raised To 18 On a daily basis, millions of teenagers around the United States use driving as their main source of transportation. Many teens are interested in being able to drive at a younger age, even after obtaining a driving permit, but it is unclear if they are able to handle such a monumental task. The driver s license age requirement should be increased to the age of 18. Increasing the age requirement might not benefit the teens that need reliable transportation to go to their workplace and support their family and themselves financially, but some argue that earning income at such a young age is too much trouble for an individual. The State of Virginia should raise the driving age to 18 because teenagers are irresponsible and need more time to practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A specific DNA pattern, called a profile, is obtained from an individual or a sample of tissue. This allows the comparison of the base sequence of two or more DNA samples to determine whether they are related. DNA profiling has many uses, in prevention of economic fraud, dietetic work, and classifying species, identifying bodies, forensic science, screening for disease, and investigating paternity. Most importantly DNA profiling is used in forensic science; used to identify who committed the crime. It is estimated that roughly one percent of all criminal cases employ this technique. Sarah Ley, Dietitian, says in the future we would expect to use DNA profiling to check out the risk of getting a disease such as heart disease more closely and what sorts of reactions food might have for some people. The last common use for DNA profiling is for paternity testing. This can be used for immigration issues by screening people claiming citizenship on the basis of their relations holding British/American citizenship. If parents are unsure who is the father of a child a DNA sample can be taken from the child and profiled beside that of the possible fathers and the result can be read against that, resolving the paternity dispute. DNA profiling meets human demand in all these categories of uses from keeping endangered species safe to identifying killers. More detail to the cancer research is needed as a struggle for a cure is continued. The recent sequencing of the human genome, coupled with advances in biotechnology, is enabling the comprehensive molecular profiling of human tissues. In particular, DNA microarrays are powerful tools for obtaining global views of human tumor gene expression. Complex information from tumor expression profiling studies can, in turn, be used to create novel molecular cancer diagnostics. DNA profiling of tumor DNAs may reveal important new diagnostic therapys targets to improve prediction and treatment of advanced cancer patients. • 5. Equilibrium Constant Lab Report Introduction The purpose of this lab was to find an equilibrium constant. The equilibrium constant was for a reaction between propan 1 ol and ethanoic, or acetic, acid that formed water and the ester, propylethanoate. A titration reaction was used to be able to calculate the concentrations of each solution at equilibrium, and ultimately the equilibrium constant.1 In a titration, a solution with a known concentration is added to a solution of an unknown concentration that contains an indicator. In this experiment, phenolphthalein is used which is colorless in acidic solutions and red in basic solutions. At its equivalence point, it is pink. In an experiment, this point marks when the concentrations of hydronium and hydroxide are equal, so the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was done by subtracting the acid correction value from the final acid concentration: [ethanoic acid] = [H+ total] [H+ correction] [ethanoic acid] = 6.90 M 0.64 M [ethanoic acid] = 6.26 M Next, it is known that at equilibrium, the concentrations of ethanoic acid and propan 1 ol are equal. Because of this, it was known that the concentration of propan 1 ol was also 6.26 M. From the overall reaction, it was also known that as the reaction progressed, ethanoic acid was converted into propylethanoate. Because of this, the concentration of propylethanoate at equilibrium could be calculated: [propylethanoate] = [initial ethanoic acid] [equilibrium ethanoic acid] [propylethanoate] = 10.71 M 6.26 M [propylethanoate] = 4.45 M Also from the formula, it was seen that the concentrations of water and propylethanoate would be equal. Because of this, the concentration of water was also 4.45 M at equilibrium. Finally, to calculate the equilibrium constant, all of these values were plugged into the equilibrium constant expression: Keq = [propylethanoate][water] / [ethanoic ... Their intent was to have the city ready by the time the Texas congress assembled in November 1839 so they built temporary government buildings at temporary locations (Humphrey, 2010). By October government offices opened, the first church was organized, and the Austin City Gazette, the city s first newspaper, made its debut. Flip through any peer reviewed journal article, and you will see that this is not just a myth. In fact, in Canada, 10.3 adolescent males and females take their life for every 100,000 people in the national population every year (WHO, 2007). In the United States, that number is almost double at 17.8 adolescent males and females for every 100,000 individual aged 15 24 (WHO, 2007). For over the last decade, researchers from all parts of the world have been at work trying to piece together what it is that triggers and pushes teenagers into making the ultimate decision and take their life. In Norway, researchers came up with four possible factors: the parents regarding poor communication, previous suicidal ideation, alcohol and drug abuse, and frequency and variances of depression and mental disorder developments (Herrestad, Mehlum, Nrugham). In support of the finding, adolescents in Thailand who had attempted suicide claimed that they had done so due to severe parenting criticisms, which threw them into a state of depression and rendered them uncontrollable of their actions and emotions (Arunpongpaisal, Rungreangkulkij, Sukhawaha, 2016). • 9. Anne Bradstreet s Poetry In The 19th Century Poets from the nineteenth century vary widely in subject, tone, and form. To remark that poets prior to 1865 are all the same is short sighted, as it denies the recurring themes and unique individual styles of the poets. Readers can differentiate poets such as Anne Bradstreet, Phillis Wheatley, Edgar Allan Poe, Walt Whitman, and Emily Dickinson through the poetic devices that they use and the recurring themes or interests they have. To begin, poets in the nineteenth century differ in whether they were intended to be published and if they were accompanied with an authenticating document. An example of a poet whose work is mostly based on personal experiences and feelings is Anne Bradstreet. Bradstreet s poems tend to focus on her relationship with her husband ( A Letter to her Husband ), her children ( Before the Birth of One of her Children ), and her faith ( Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House ). The Gothic and supernatural are prominent in both the setting and the tone of Poe s poems. Poe tends to use repetition to signal the importance of the line or word, such as nevermore, to create the unity of effect. Shortly after, in the years of 1863 and 1864, the grenade was implemented in the American Civil War. With a lemon shaped piece of iron and a tail made of paper or cardboard, the handheld explosive greatly resembled a dart. On the front of the grenade s body was a plunger, which held a percussion cap filled with explosive material. When the the grenade fell onto its nose and applied pressure to the plunger, an explosion was triggered, only to be met by more gunpowder inside. Although the resulting explosion caused a great deal of mayhem and shrapnel, it was not very reliable because its detonation depended on the grenade falling directly onto its nose. Because of its temperamental behavior, the grenade got a reputation for not being very accurate. During its use by the Union army, the weapon was still in its earliest stages. Although the Confederate army did not adopt this specific weapon, they had similar ideas such as the Raines grenade, which was similar in appearance, but completely inadequate for battle. Instead of cardboard fins for a stable flight, the Raines grenade had a cloth streamer. Ketchums were used in several important battles such as the battle of Vicksburg and the siege of Petersburg. One researcher also is known to be a famous author, decided to also research and find a team of well known researchers to discover the secret to amazing, mind rippling sex (Roach 298.) Through interviews, traveling, and personal experiments, Mary Roach found that she believes sex is far more than the sum of its moving parts (Roach 128). Sex is far more than just the functions of each organ used in intercourse. In the book Bonk, Mary convinces her husband to partake in a lab research experiment for her to personal experience and understanding of research tools that were used in the past. After the experience, Mary claims the atmosphere and emotion of sex resemble nothing of what actually goes on during the time the couple is intimate alone and at home (Roach 128). The environment in which sex research is being done can help determine the outcome of the results. For example, the romance and adrenaline produced in the attic of Kinsey house can be different than romance and adrenaline produced in a lab as well as in the couple s own house. • 12. Declaration Of Independence Rhetorical Analysis 1B) The Declaration of Independence uses several rhetorical strategies, making the argumentative testament of the wrongdoings of the king an effective in pursuing equality for all men. Jefferson utilizes logos, pathos and ethos to prove his point to the country holding their liberty prisoner. Jefferson s use of logos begins with stating the obvious reason the king should set the people free: the people have the right to the pursuit of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness (2). The King has not done good to the people, in fact he has refused to pass the laws necessary to create order, dissolved representative houses, cut off trade, and imposed unlawful taxes upon the people. They have the basic human rights given to them by God that should set them free from the tyrannical king. Some of the emotional side of Jefferson s views slip into this argument, such as mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable (5). While stating further wrongdoings, Jefferson s use of pathos increases, raising the rage of the republic at the injustice of the rules they have been subjected to. He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation (26). This is because it saw various significant revolutionary movements take place that gave way to the complex modern world. These revolutions took place in different regions in Europe and across America. Some of the revolutions include: American Revolution, the Haitian Revolution, the revolt of the slaves in Latin America, the Greek Revolution, the French Revolution, and the independence movements of nations in Latin America. These revolutions are considered to have impacted the world as they changed different aspects of society including social setup, political aspects and the economic set up of the world (Matson, 2005). The term modernization refers to the transformation or change of a society from a rural and agrarian position to a more urban, secular and industrial position. Central Line Clinical Practice Guideline Rational Central venous catheters (CVCs) are frequently used in intensive care units (ICUs) for a number of reasons (measure central venous pressure, when peripheral veins are unable to be accessed, administration of medications/therapies and aspiration of blood samples) (Conroy, 2006, p. 98). Patients in this environment already have an increased risk of infection because of their treatments. Patient treatments commonly involve invasive devices or interventions (major surgery), antibiotic therapy (raises the risk of bacterial resistance) while steroid, chemotherapy and radiation therapy all suppress the immune system (Hatler, Hebden, Kaler, Zack, 2010). Aseptic technique is critically important to protect patients from CLABSIs; infections are caused by either intrinsic (e.g. patients own flora) or extrinsic (e.g. surrounding environment) pathogens. Asepsis therefore removes patients skin flora and ensures flora picked up from either other patients or the surrounding environment is not introduced into the patient (Mollee et al., 2011). Raad et al. (1994) found in a randomised trial that CLABSIs were 6.3 times higher in a control group then those who had their CVC inserted under maximal barrier precautions (consisting of mask, cap, sterile gloves, gown, large drape). These findings were replicated by Abi‐Said et al. (1999) who also found that if strict aseptic techniques were adhered too during dressing changes, in addition to close monitoring of patients there was a decrease in bloodstream infection rates. As described above CLABSIs are more common when aseptic techniques at the time of insertion have not been observed. Contamination of catheters by skin flora at the time of insertion is one of the risks for developing a subsequent CLABSI. Therefore CVCs need to be replaced within 48hrs if asepsis cannot be guaranteed for insertion (LeMaster et al., 2010). For insertion and during care of a CVC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The controversies in the Middle East and recent environmental disasters have made the cost of many natural resources, like oil, sky rocket. So imagine the amount of oil needed to power your car and compare that to the amount of oil needed to heat your home. Home energy conservation is a way that Americans can counter act the estimated high costs to heat, cool or light their residence. In the old days energy conservation was as simple turning off a light when you left a room, or setting a timer on your thermostat to regulate when your heat or air conditioning came on. (Environment, 2007) Economic Issues Geothermal energy uses the natural heat beneath the earth s surface. In home and commercial installations geothermal systems can provide effective heating and cooling abilities. The system relies on the average 50 degree temperature of the earth s soil below the frost line. The depth of this temperature is usually found at about 6 to 10 feet below the surface. The system provides both heating and cooling abilities by transferring heat energy through water exchange. Water filled coils are buried at a specified depth in the soil (Hefler, 2007). Depending upon whether heating or cooling is needed the system either absorbs heat from the earth or dissipates heat into the soil via the water filled tubes. It is known as one of the largest Latino communities in New York, the residents there are mostly Puerto Ricans but there are also people from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and even Mexico. As we have discussed before, there is a scene in which Maureen offers to walk home with Claudia and her sister Frieda. The walk is interrupted abruptly after running into a crying Pecola in the center of a circle of male classmates taunting her. The boys shout slurs at her about her father and her skin tone, completely disregarding that they themselves were black, or that their father had similarly relaxed habits (65) In regards to internalized racism, Morrison states that they seemed to have taken all of their smoothly cultivated ignorance, their exquisitely learned self hatred, their elaborately designed hopelessness and sucked it all up into a fiery cone of scorn that had burned for ages in the hollows of their minds. She tries to tell the attackers the truth, but, regardless of what she says, they don t believe her. Under these circumstances, she decides to lie and tell them exactly what they want to hear. Torture is pointless because people will lie in order for the pain to stop and the interrogators have no accurate strategy to know if it is a lie or the truth, it impairs memory, and the interrogators can be torturing people who are truly not involved. For these reasons, torture is ineffective at guaranteeing a truthful confession and should be banned as an information gathering strategy. Numerous people believe that if someone knows information that puts them in a situation of being tortured then, they must deserve it anyhow. Along with that idea, others simply believe that everyone has a breaking point where if one does enough to someone, they will end up telling the truth. Stereotypes In Hollywood Stereotypes A deep look into some Latino performances shows the heroes who have withstood and undermined the stereotyping system however much they were involved in the Hollywood films where stereotyping is accustomed. Actors have less to contribute to the authorship as they are hired and are supposed to act wherever scene they are assigned to serve. Latino actors may not necessarily be considered Latino enough to take part in a scene; this has become a casting practice. Worse still we have actors from specific ethnic groups who cannot stand up and depart from stereotypes. Actor s original performance is not appreciated in a way that during production the actor follows every instruction from makeup artists to the director. Lack of appreciation frustrates the contribution of the film artist. Performance should include body movement, gestures, facial expression and voice which should not make the character disappear into actor or actor going into the character. The only way Latino actors will feature to be less stereotypical is by embracing the true artist performance. With this copious amount of money, the organization has only built six permanent homes in all of Haiti. Where did all of that money go, and why hasn t it been used to provide assistance to the poor country? Thanks to muckraking done by NPR and ProPublica s investigative journalists, there has been information uncovered about the American Red Cross s scandal. Muckraking does still exist as demonstrated by Laura Sullivan and Justin Elliot s 2015 series, How the Red Cross Raised Half a Billion Dollars for Haiti and Built Six Homes . ProPublica and NPR published Laura ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prime minister of Haiti (who served when the earthquake hit), Jean Max Bellerive, publicly criticized the American Red Cross by saying that the Haitian government needs to take legal actions that demand accountability. Another castigator, U.S. representative Rick Nolan, a Democrat from Minnesota, has called for the House oversight committee to hold hearings regarding the Red Cross s plan to help Haiti. Many other angry calls for investigation have been made in other states. The American Red Cross finished off the conference by ending with a statement from Red Cross spokeswoman, Jana Sweeney. The Red Cross is happy to talk with any member of Congress who has questions about our relief work in Haiti, or elsewhere, she said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The History Of Rock And Roll Music In the following decade of the 1960s Rock n Roll music became more accepted and began to evolve from the Rockabilly sound audiences have grown to know before to a freer sound. However, the 1960s was also the time of the infamous saying Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll became the reality of the newly found style of music. Rock music found its self in its own category and dominated in the popular music scene and with that many new styles of rock emerged. Such as: surf, psychedelic, hard rock, and protest just to name a few. These categories of rock came from experimenting and they have their own distinct sound. • 44. Examination of The History of the Ojibway People by... Examination of The History of the Ojibway People by William W. Warren The goal of this paper is to provide an examination of the book The History of the Ojibway People by William W. Warren as well as express some of what I learned about the book, the author and the Ojibway people. William W. Warren, born of a white father and Ojibway mother, used his fluent familiarity with the Ojibway language and his tremendous popularity with both whites and Indians to document the traditions and oral statements of the Ojibway people at a time when the future of their existence was in jeopardy. Why did I choose this book to read and review? Every summer for eight years my wife and I took a group of approximately 20 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1851 he was asked to write a series of articles for The Minnesota Democrat newspaper on the Ojibway people. These articles were the beginning stages of what became The History of the Ojibway People . William wrote several articles for the newspaper and eventually finished the manuscript for the first, of what was to be a many volume series of books on the Ojibway people, in 1853. Upon returning home from a trip to a New York publisher, William Warren died of a severe hemorrhage at the young age of 28. Although William died before he could finish all of the volumes he planned and before he could get the work published, 32 years later, the Minnesota Historical Society first published the work as an early and unique contribution to the field of Ojibway history and culture. As stated in the introduction, written by W. Roger Buffalohead, This book offers intriguing reading, full of tantalizing tales. One can only wonder how much more would be known about the Ojibway today if Warren had been able to finish his other volumes, instead of carrying his knowledge of his people into an early grave (p.xiii). Warren s success can be attributed to the the high regard and popularity that he, the young man of mixed Ojibway and Euro American heritage, enjoyed among both Ojibway and white people. Again, Buffalohead states, It is true that Warren won the friendship, trust, and confidence of tribal members throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin; it is also certain that he was ... • 45. Essay about The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A... The Heroic Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House What does it mean to be a hero? According to Webster, a hero is someone of great strength [and] courage who is admired for his or her courage and nobility. 1 Stretching this definition a bit further, I would argue that a hero is someone who uses this strength, courage, and nobility to help or save others. Nora Helmer, in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House, leaves her husband and family at the end of the play a move that can be viewed as either very selfish or very heroic. Because Nora uses her strength and courage in effort to save others and herself from the false doll s house life they are living in, her final act of leaving home is truly heroic. Nora saves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be seen when she calls her youngest child her sweet little baby doll, and later when she reassures her children that the doggies wouldn t bite [her] pretty little dollies (22).2 Nora seems to be overlooking the fact that these little, doll like figures are real people that she is responsible for. In this same scene, Nora plays hide and seek, laughing and shrieking, with her kids (23). As the argument that Nora is being selfish states, she is her children s playmate. Yet, shouldn t a mother be more than just a fellow playmate? A mother has a responsibility to teach and train her children, not just play with them. This scene is the only time we see direct interaction between Nora and her kids; it suggests that being a playmate or else using them as her play toys, are two of the only ways Nora knows how to be a mother. Nora herself admits to Torvald, in their final confrontation, that the children have been my dolls who thought it was fun when I went and played with them (81). Later in the play, after this first scene with her children, when Nora is talking to Anne Marie, we can see that she is making efforts to ensure that her children will be cared for if even if she is not there to raise them. Anne Marie is the only mother Nora has ever had and, as Nora says, she was a good mother to [Nora] when [she] was little (36). Nora goes on to say, And if my little ones only had ...
