I have been taken care of 4 patients towards the end of my time on 2B. I think I handled it well.
It can be challenging sometimes. For example, I had to discharge one patient by 10am. And the
staff meeting for my newly admitted patient was around the same time. Besides, one of my
patients approached me to have PRNs, the forth patient also requested a shave. On 2B, shaving
has to be supervised by staff. All my patients needed me at once. I learned to ask help from other
RNs and delegate appropriate tasks to NA in order to get things done on time. Sometimes, we
don t have enough help. I had to prioritize my tasks and patients needs. Of course, I offer my help
to my fellow RNs when they re busy. I had completed blood draws for others many times (11).
The pain management on 2B is quite different. (7) This is because many of the common non
pharmacological interventions are considered unsafe due to the high suicide risk in our patient
population. There is no heat or cold pad due to the toxic chemical contents. K pad is also not
available due to the long tubings for risk of strangulation. Aromatherapy is also out of picture. I

There is a goal that I have been trying to achieve since for as long as I have been aware of my
body. Sometimes I succeed, most of the time I don t. I have many goals, they always grow and
change along with me while I grow and change, but there is one goal that seems to stay
consistent, and I have no doubt that it is one that I will continue to have late into womanhood. I,
like many, always want to shed the pounds. Losing weight has been difficult for me, something I
assumed would happen observing the women in my family. On the other hand, gaining weight
seemed to happen every time I breathed around food. I first want to mention that I have learned
to not be so rigid with these goals, and to not expect a lot of change right away. When I was a
freshman in high school, I dropped twenty pounds, and fairly easily I might add. I didn t eat
much, I exercised often; I won t say it was the healthiest diet in the world. I tried to replicate it
when I got heavier sophomore year, then again in junior, then senior. Before leaving for college
it dawned on me that I cannot expect my body to be able to withstand now, what it could at
fourteen. At fourteen I hadn t even developed breasts, hips, and the general curvy stature that my
mother would passed on to me. So with acceptance in mind of the body type I have, I spent the

I split my food shopping between a suburban enclave in Franklin, TN and my parent s country
house in Columbia, TN. There are a multitude of lifestyle discrepancies between suburban and
country living, and I suspected that this would be evident in the retail food options offered.
Columbia grocery stores are either large big box grocers or small regional stores. These stores
historically service more conventional food options. Franklin s larger and more affluent

customers and the stores. I visited the Kroger Grocery Store around eight on Sunday morning.
