Stereotypes In Finding Forrester
As a human, no one really likes to be the victim of stereotyped. No one wants to be looked at get
judged because the different of their skin color, culture, religion or by the choice of their outfit.
Finding Forrester is a great drama movie based on significantly of different racial situation. In
the movie there are two main characters, William Forrester an author who isolated himself from
the world, and Jamal Wallace a black teenage boy from the Bronx. They become great friends
despite generation gap through their passion for reading and writing. Jamal Wallace is used as a
stereotype of the typical black boy in the Bronx who attends low level school and has more
interest in the court as a basketball player rather in his text books. No one thought of him capable
of doing anything other than playing basketball, and he uses that fact to hide his intelligence
behind an academic grade of C average. He just did not want his... Show more content on

We can tell that Forrester is a white middle class man, someone who has isolated himself from
society for ten years. He would rather handle his problems behind closed doors rather than
confront them face to face. For example, when Jamal faces prejudice from his English professor,
who assumes that he uses a title from another author s writing without permission, and demands
Jamal to write a letter of apology and read it in front of the class, Jamal refused because he feels
he did nothing wrong. Forrester told him to just write the letter and get it over with. Unlike
Forrester, Jamal adores going outside, interacting with his friends from school and going to
basketball games. Another difference between the Jamal and Forrester is the former s competitive
attitude. For instance, when harassed by another student from school on the basketball court, he
handled the problem in his own way. That proves his abilities to others and earns him respect from
his coach and other

Psychodynamic And Object Relations Theories
Amongst all psychodynamic approaches, object relations theory fitted like a puzzle for me. I
have an integrated style with a mix of some humanistic and psychodynamic approaches like Freud
s free association or Jung s dream analysis but Object Relations stand out for me. I relate to it at a
deep personal level where my poor relationship with my motheraffected my married life and in my
client work a common thread that ran through was how faulty infantile object relations have an
impact on adult relationships. Object relations theory follows a model that believes that children
are driven by the need for attachment with primary caregivers especially the mother and it is
paramount for the development of a free functioning psychic structure.

Heaton manor letter
After reading the letter from Heaton manor I realised that this letter was written formally. This is
because the way the writer has written it is professional. The letter was drafted to the student s
parents about a trip. They used the words Dear at the beginning and Yours Faithfully at the end of
the page, which is only used if you are writing to a person that you do not know.
However, they wrote the letter to Parents and Careers so that it is generalised to whoever is
taking care of the child. This is because it is harder to write a letter to each parent. Also, Career is
used so that nobody is offended.
Although, it would have been exceeding if they wrote to each parent, this would make the parents
know that they have taken their time to write to each parent so their child could go to the trip.
Also, they have added the date. This material is added to show when the letter was written.
The address isn t added. Previously stated, this is because it would have taken the Head of ICT
longer, especially as they might not know the addresses of each student. Also, most of the logos
are either combined at the top or at the bottom of the page. This is used to show which company or
school this is from. In this letter, the colour blue is mostly used, for example, the logo. The

Analysis Of Solar PV Power Generation
The choice of right type of converters for the different requirement in specific application has
great influence on the optimum performance of the photovoltaic system. In last two decades,
enormous developments have been taken place in the area of solar PV power generation. A large
number of research publications in these areas have led to this persuasion of a critical review of
the available literature. In particular, many inverter topologies have been introduced to incorporate
several unique features, such as a) intrinsic boost capabilities, b) isolation, c) high efficiency, d)
good power decoupling, e) dual grounding function, f) single stage solar power conversion
capabilities, g) compact design and h) good power quality, for both... Show more content on

In general, solar PV module voltage is low, ranging from 30 60V DC. To meet the demand of
AC loads, there is a need for inversion as well as a voltage boosting, whereas voltage boosting is
dependent on parameters like module voltage, the number of modules, and their connection [7
9]. Thus, it is clear that PCS must have following functionalities, such as voltage boosting
(optional), MPPT Tracking and inversion. The voltage boosting stage can be provided by either
step up dc dc converter or transformer followed by an inverter [10 13]. But placing the
transformer to raise the voltage level is not a good solution as it increases the cost, size, and
volume of the overall system. Moreover, it lowers the efficiency of the system. Hence
transformerless topologies received lot of attention in past few years [9]. Two types of
transformerless solutions are suggested in the literature for solar PV power generations, namely
a) multi stage power conversion and b) single stage power conversion [23 24]. Whether it is
single stage or multiple stage power conversion the most critical part of a solar PV system is the
inverter, which will be discussed in next sections. At present, inverters are the essential cause of
breakdown of huge scale PV systems [12]. Moreover, in addition to the quality problems, inverters
give restricted power efficiency [7]. Normally, inverter efficiency is around 94% and as the load
diminishes the efficiency can

Racial Diversity And Diversity
Diversity is permanently entrenched in American culture and with a better understanding of
other cultures people can come to a place of collaboration and cooperation with one another.
Looking back on what all I have learned in this course, the most important realization I had was
just how white washed the scientific community really is. When civil rights issues were in full
swing, there was a myriad of white researchers who were attempting to prove the inferiority of
other races especially African Americans. Paper after paper delineating all of the physical
differences and potential mental differences between African Americans and Caucasians simply
to bolster their own inaccurate sense of superiority reveals the darker side of research and
scientific exploration (Guthrie, 2004). Several of the issues we discussed in class were ones I
was at least somewhat aware of and had been informed about in some sense or another. One of
the surprising pieces of information was the health disparity between Caucasians and minorities.
Logically speaking this disparity makes sense since when there is such a wide wage gap between
these two groups one could assume this would have an effect on the health of those in question as
well. While I was aware of the social construction of gender, I was not aware of all of the various
types of gender and gender expression that exists in other cultures and societies. For instance, the
term two spirited in some Native American tribes refers to people

Christian History And The Holy Spirit Essay
Christian history is active and alive as the Holy Spirit works in and amongst the community of
Christians who comprise the Church. Similar to the recording of history in the first century by
Luke in the Acts of the Apostles, Christian history is still being written today. Specifically, as
Evangelical Christians, we write the story of history each day as we work to fulfill the Great
Commission (Matthew 28:16 20) through application of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22: 37
40). As such, we soon realize that we are not casual observers or bystanders of history, but actual
participants. In other words, we have a responsibility to both understand and interpret the past and
then apply the faith we hold amongst the generation and peoples of the here and now.
As we obediently apply God s word to, go therefore and make disciples of all nations and to love
God and to love your neighbor as yourself, we should awaken to the key terms of all nations and
your neighbor. It is with this realization that our neighbors, in the communities in which we live,
literally represent the nations of the world. In other words, in the modern world in which we live,
changes in demographics, world events, and movements of people have literally brought the
nations of the world to our front door. As such, we have a great opportunity to open these doors,
which turn opens the door to the gospel to the nations of the world.

Essay On Exercise As Treatment For Depression
Exercise as Treatment for Depression Jacob Gibson University of Alabama in Birmingham
Exercise as Treatment for Depression Depression is a prevalent severe medical disorder that
adversely affects the way people feel, think, and act. According to Brosse, Sheets, Lett and
Blumenthal (2002), the term depression is used to describe an unease or dissatisfaction mood
state, a condition that involves a group of symptoms or a clinical disorder. Depression leads to a
series of feelings of sadness or loss of interest in activities that were once appealing. Other symptoms
include loss of appetite, increased fatigue, sleeplessness, difficulty in thinking, concentrating, or
making decisions, and suicidal thoughts. Depression can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence from studies indicates that negative self evaluations among people including adults
and adolescents play a role in the occurrence of major depressive disorders (MDD). It is
theorized that effective depression interventions work towards improving self evaluations
among patients. For instance, particular self evaluations include applying self efficacy, positive
thoughts on body image, and physical self confidence (Brosse et al., 2002 Palmer, 2005). The
evidence suggests that improved self evaluations may mediate antidepressant results of exercise.
Exercise has been established to have significant psychological effects on an individual s self
esteem, primarily those with depression. Self esteem is related to body image compared to any
other characteristics of self. According to Doyne, Ossip Klein, Bowman, Osborn, McDougall and
Neimey (1987), as individuals exercise regularly, they are most likely to acquire increased
physical benefits such as weight loss, muscle strength, and increased respiratory fitness. Such
improvements in the physical features of an individual lead to positive personal perceptions and a
boost in self esteem. In a study conducted to establish the effects of exercise on adolescents with
depression, Carter, Guo, Turner, Morres, Khalil, Brighton and Callaghan (2015) found that after
completion of the study using aerobic exercises, the mood of 26 participants dropped and they
showed signs of sadness. The reasons for the changed emotions

The Easy and Meaningful Integration of Social Studies and...
It is not enough for our students to be citizens of the United States of America; they are faced with
the challenge that no other generation has: they are citizens of the world. Social studies, as a
focus in classrooms today must be more than a history class. In fact, social studies should include
all content areas and be included in all content areas. In math, it is not enough to learn isolated
logarithms; students should explore economics and the interdependence of the world economies. A
current events guiding question might include, Will the failure of Greece s economy affect those

the framework ...should help students build empathetic awareness along with the ability to apply
that awareness to understanding both historical and contemporary issues.... It requires one to be

require us to confront controversial topics. In the language arts curriculum, in Standard Two,
Exploring and Responding to Literature, students are guided to read and respond to classical and
contemporary texts from many cultures and literary periods. While studying the curriculum,
students will recognize that readers and authors are influenced by individual, social, cultural and
historical contexts. Without knowing what those individual, social, cultural and historical contexts
are, students cannot possibly be truly successful in language arts. The second content strand for

Robert Frost Alienation
Instances of Alienation in Frost s Out, Wall, and Night
A Discussion of Alienation in Robert Frost s Night, Out, and Wall Robert Frost was one of the most
influential writers of the 20th century, and blessed humanity with a slew of intricate poems with
thick meanings and enticing stories. To this day, Frost s poetrycontinues to be widely studied and
interpreted by people all over the world. His poetry depicts dark themes of loneliness and
alienation with deep, influential meanings. For example, Sarah Hart explains, The speaker projects
his own loneliness onto the snowy landscape, claiming he is too absent spirited to count . Sarah is
drawing this inference from Frost s Desert Places, which is seemingly one of his most impactful
poems when it comes to loneliness or alienation . Also written by Frost, are three more poems that
depict alienation values: Acquainted with the Night, Out, Out , and Mending Wall. These three
poems, and most importantly Mending Wall, sparked controversy during Frosts time, and sparked
the interest of readers around the globe. Within Night, Wall and Out, there are themes of alienation
that can be derived. Within the poem Acquainted with the Night, It is clear that the speaker has
alienated himself from society. The speaker states, I have been one acquainted with the night. I
have walked out in rain and back in rain. I have outwalked the furthest city light (lines 1 3). The
speaker is obvious in his explanation in the fact that he has an

It s Time For The Final Round Of Competition
It s time for the final round of competition. You ve been working hard all year, and it s about to
pay off. Once you are on that field you perform the best you ever have. Once you get off you feel
proud and accomplished. However, this year that feeling, might have not been repeated.
The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has had this feeling for more than two
decades. A lot of people don t know, that we re not just a normal halftime marching band, we are
a competitive marching band. We travel to competitions in Washington and Oregon. This
program has been around for a couple decades, and we don t want to stop now. However, the
competitive program was about to be nonexistent this year, due to lack of funds. A lot of students
and parents were upset at the thought of no competitive season. All of us in this program feel as if
that s the best part of the season. If we lost that it wouldn t bee as much fun. We were so far in
debt that if we couldn t raise enough money, it would ve been game over.
This wouldn t be a problem though, if we had more money in our budget to do our competitive
season. We only receive $1000 which is for the whole band program, according to our band
director. My school district needs to fund the EMBC program separately from the regular band
programs. I am not saying that their program isn t as important, but we, the EMBC, require more
funding for our award winning program. A way we can do that is by moving around funding from
teams who

Project Management Body Of Knowledge Is An American...
A Methodology is a model which the managers employ in the design, implementation and
achievement of their project objectives. It contains the guidelines required for managing a project.
With the exceptional growth in technology, the present day projects are often large and complex
involving a significant risk. So, a Project ManagementMethodology enables the delivery
organization to handle these projects comprehensively, systematically and in an integrated manner,
which results in strategic, tactical and operational benefits. Strategic Benefits: The methodology
provides confidence to customers, partners and senior management that the delivery organization
can manage and deliver the projects with immense profits. Tactical Benefits: The method allows off
site managers to have confidence in recognizing the problems early and solving them. Operational
Benefits: Methodology acts like a key using which the delivery organizations, empower the project
team to accomplish the right task, the right way. Project Management Body of Knowledge is an
American National Standard Institute (ANSI) standard first published by the Project Management
Institute (PMI) as a white paper in 1983. It is a guide that describes best practices used to manage a
project efficiently and acts as a foundation for a sound project management methodology, yet it

permanently affect anyone by showing how it changed Mary Anne Bell a woman in her late teens
and the girlfriend of Mark Fossie, a soldier. When Mary Anne first arrives she is wearing white

Handguns in Households with Children Essay
Handguns in Households with Children
Guns in America are a problem as bad as the drug problem: 43% of households that have children
have handguns in them; 10 children die every day from handguns, approximately one every 2 ВЅ
hours. That is the same of a classroom of children every two days. Parents do not realize that
children get the physical capacity to reach and discharge a firearm long before the ability to
understand the potential consequences of these actions. Parents who insist on keeping guns in the
home should be urged strongly to store their firearms unloaded and locked in a secure place.
Actions like these will reduce the probability of children being killed by a firearm. The presence of

Plainly speaking, if guns were not so readily available, the number of children suicides in America
would decrease significantly.
The number of American citizens concerned with children gun violence is rapidly increasing.
Nearly a million U.S. students took guns to school during 1998. It is important to note that
many school shootings are committed by children who have stolen their parents legally owned
guns. Columbine is just one example of what can happen. Over the two years ending June 30,
1999, violence in and around schools happened in 25 states resulting in 105 deaths. Nearly two
thirds of the victims were primary and secondary schools students, another 11 percent were
teachers or staff, and the remainders were community members slain on school property.
Firearms were used in 75 percent of these deaths. For example, take the case of a nine year old
girl who took a Glock semiautomatic pistol to school. The girl, who told officials she found the
gun in an unlocked drawer in her mother s bedroom, said she wanted it for protection against gang
Candamo3
members who had threatened her at school a week ago. Therefore, rather than relying on teaching
children principles of a gun safety, parents should learn how to more constantly prevent firearm
injuries. Anticipatory guidance is vital to give parents the information that they need to make smart
choices for themselves and their

Katherine Ezekiel Religion
Religion Assessment Ezekiel was a young priest when he was growing up, he was always
around the temple in Jerusalem. The exiles in Babylon received hope from Ezekiel. Quickly
after the first exiles arrived in Babylon, he began preaching. When Ezekiel received the messages
from God, they mostly came from visions. Once he kept receiving these messages, he then
realized that God would still take care of his people. The people of Babylon will receive a new
life and return back home to their land from God s spirit. God was with the people in Babylon
the same amount of time he was in the Temple. In God s exile, he would bring everyone closer to
him. It was everybody s responsibility to share group individuality. St. Katherine Drexel founded
the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored People. She also set up a school in

Ways to Improve the U.S. Education System
Although the United States is one of the most highly industrialized nations in the world, students in
many other industrialized nations are outperforming U.S. students in various academic areas. As a
result, the U.S. has implemented standard based reform, and its educational costs have soared. No
longer are American graduates competing with each other for jobs, in the present global economy,
they also are competing with graduates from other industrialized nations, many of whom are
preforming at higher academic levels in reading, math, science, and problem solving as measured
by their performance on the Program for International StudentAssessment (PISA) ( FactSheet 1 2).
The PISA is an assessment that is administered every three years to fifteen year old students in

(West 2) The PISA was first administered in 2000, and it has been administered every three years
since that time. This assessment measures student performance in the areas of reading, mathematics

Food In Thai Food
For many people in Thailand today, food has become a very important aspect of any holiday
celebration and special occasions. In the American western cuisine today, a regular restaurant
quality meal consists of appetizers, followed by the main course, and ends with a serving of
dessert, where each person would order his or her own food. In Thailand it s the complete opposite
to the American cuisine where they would never have any structure in their meals like beginning
with appetizers and ending with dessert. In Thai cuisinethe number of dishes is based on the
number of people there are around the table, so for example if there are ten people, then ten
dishes would be order. One interesting aspect about Thai cuisine is that everyone sitting around
the table would equally share their food, so that no one would get stuck with eating the same
plate of food, everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy the unique flavors of all the different dishes.
The main reason that the Thais share their food is because they believe that it is bad luck for them
to eat alone and they see that each meal is a big celebration of social and friendly interactions.
When the Thais finished eating all of their food, they would pack up all of the leftover foods
from the meal and store it in the refrigerator to eat the next day. The people of Thailand have a
strong belief that throwing away food is a very sinful thing to do since it will dishonor and anger

Is Ibct Is A Couples Therapy Approach That Helps Couples...
IBCT Model (1 pg. Lizbette) IBCT is a couples therapy approach that helps couples facing highly
distressed situations (Briggs, Finley Sprenlete,2015). IBCT stems from Behavioral Couples
Therapy (BCT); however, due to a lack of outcomes that demonstrated successful long term effects
in couples, IBCT was created (Jacobson Christensen, 1996). As stated by Jacobson and
Christensen (1996) IBCT consists of elements of emotional acceptance and tolerance to address
issues that BCT was unable to do. This was done to add a sense of sympathy and compassion to
couplesexperiences and to find solutions to help couples with their problems. According to Briggs
et al. (2015) the steps in treating couples using IBCT involve creating a treatment plan, individual
and joint sessions which occur during the first four sessions of the therapeutic process. During the
assessment session couples are asked to remember and talk about what made them fall in love and
how they met in order to find and highlight strengths the couple holds (Mairal, 2015). After the
assessment and initial phase is conducted, then treatment can begin which consist of building
intimacy, helping couples move from their stuck phase and influencing change (Briggs et al., 2015).
There are several interventions used in IBCT. One of the most important interventions is emotional
acceptance. Emotional acceptance involves empathetic joining around the problem, increase
tolerance of an aversive problem and increase self care

What are people attitudes when they are resistance to change? According to Zuwerink Devine

focused on the thoughts and behavior when resistance occurs (Zuwerink Devine, 1996). Everything
in our everyday life from TV, to radio, to the wide web prevail in using persuasionto affect the
choices we make. In order to set a compass to understand and evaluate resistance to persuasion, we

towards their beliefs. Swann, Pelham and Chidester s (1988) research attempted to change the
beliefs of those individuals that resist (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). They constructed
questions which remained consistent with the beliefs of the individual but more towards an

had a high certainty in their beliefs would be more resistance towards the more extreme questions,
therefore changing their beliefs in the opposite direction, momentarily (Swann, Pelham and

women s roles versus the extreme questions and the control group was given unbiased questions

believers would change with standard questions nor, high certainty believer changed for extreme

the individuals change in thought. Were the changes in beliefs reported from the previous study
significant to change their entire view on women role s or did the individual agreed with changing
their beliefs because they were aware or concerned of how they would appear to others if they had
agreed to those extreme questions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). In the end, their research
was sufficient in concluding that individuals with low certainty beliefs are easily persuaded;
individuals with high certainty beliefs can momentarily change their belief and thus be persuaded
with paradoxical questions that shock their self perceptions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester,

paved the way for future navigation and GPS related apps. The success of GoogleMaps was
primarily based on the advances of technology, economic events, its versatility, and how it is
practically free to use.
Google started out as a search engine company that made money from selling ads. Cellular
devices have been popular since the 1900s but as technology advances smartphones took the
market in 2008. Google took that golden opportunity and make a mobile operating system. At
the same time Apple was in the same race and competing to seize the smartphone market.
Bragging about design and retail marketing, Apple established their name in the mobile market.
Google was locked in battle with one of the world s largest companies. However, although Apple
had an advantage over design and retail marketing, Google had a completive advantage in
information. In 2008 Google released Google Maps for mobile and it featured a GPS navigation.
This was a critical step for Google because it was estimated that map apps were used the most
right after communication. Currently Google maps is said to be used by 69% of all

Mercantilism In The 15th Century
The 15th century saw a revolution in the history of the world. What we now know as the Old
World changed in every facet, from politics to economics to culture to the very fabric of society.
Though great change happened in abundance, each change was different for the multitude of
continents present. The greatest changes possibly occurred in respect to Europe, West Africa, and
the Americas. Europe experienced a complete overhaul of society. They moved away from
societies based on protection and moved more towards being ruled over by monarchs. They moved
away from services dependent on others and tried to focus more on mercantilism. Contrarily, West
Africa had stayed the same for many centuries. Slowly, empowering themselves over time they were

Nonetheless, trade played the most vital role. Trade was crucially important to the empire; there
could be no empires without it. Many goods used by the different civilizations present were not
produced locally. Two types of trading were important to the civilizations present in the Americas:
the local, regional markets where the goods that sustain daily life were traded and long distance
luxury trades. Each was vital to the empire, but served different purposes. With most regional
markets, all kinds of utilitarian goods were sold, such as cloth, garden produce, food animals,
obsidian knives and tools, medicines, wood, leather, furs and animal skins, precious metals, gems
and pottery. Professional merchants, traveling long distances to obtain the luxury goods desired by

the United State s society developed faster than Chinese society and US people could be easy to

Chinese people and become the domination s group in China. Change from historial factors to
modern factors: As I had already presented how the European domination was emerged by the

2. The European s lead and contents in mass media are causing and maintaining the European
domination in China. Based on what we discussed about the media topic in class, I believe media
is also a way to cause and maintain the European domination in societies. For instance, the content
of media usually reports the positive sides of the European things such as places, enviroment, and
behaves instead of the negative sides. More clearly, the mass media constantly extols the
Europeans among Asians. Therefore, this brainwashing praises from media improves the social
status of Europeans in different places, especially in Asian places. 3. The modern policies from
goverments are also causing and maintaining the European domination in societies. It just likes
what we had disccussed in class that the US government provides poor education s policies to the
Asians. Since Asians have a poor education in US, no one can obtain a better job in knowledge

Americans. Therefore, the European Americans can obtain better jobs and become a domination

Object To Me Research Paper
If someone was going to ask me how I would represent myself with four objects, I would
probably have to take a day or two to think about it. Since I ve already done that, I am now going
to explain these four items to you. The things I chose, with difficulty, were a picture of me with
three of my brothers, a sketchbook I ve been looking for for a while, my phone (a most prized
possession) and a mason jar filled with pretty trinkets. I think these would be the objects that
would best describe me. First, I have a picture of me with three of my brothers at the zoo in
Indianapolis. That is one of the few pictures where we are all smiling and posing. Normally, we re

chance to express myself and is a way to find who I am. The next thing I chose that represents me
is my phone. It is my connection to my friends and family and a world outside of where I am. It
has several features that were designed to help people with everyday life. My phone is one of
the few things that manage to stay consistent around me. It is very helpful to have around. A lot
of children are getting phones at younger and younger ages. I only got mine this year, so that
makes me more careful and sensible about it. The last thing that I selected to portray me is a jar
full of pretty oddities and ornaments. I believe this shows one of the most important things about
me. In other words, it indicates my organization and thought process, which seems practically
nonexistent to most people, but I find a lot of method to it. My room is usually like that jar on

South Africa as a Result of Apartheid in the Film A Dry White Season Brink reaches for that
unexpected potent strand of Afrikaner thought: an almost religious repugnance toward
governmental corruption. And by using a very ordinary Afrikaner as victim, Brink proclaims that
no one in South Africa is any longer safe (Redman 5). Andre Brink s powerful novel, A Dry White
Season, was made into a film directed by Euzhan Palcy about ten years after it was written.
Euzhan Palcy did an excellent job directing her film, which was intended to open the world s eyes
to the injustices being committed in South Africa as a result of the apartheid, and it is successful
in doing so. However, it fails to reach out to the reader, as does Andre... Show more content on

When Gordon s wife, Emily, comes to Ben wanting to have justice be done for what happened to
her husband and son, Ben sends her to a lawyer, and helps her in her quest to uncover the truth.
More and more is revealed as Ben continues his search with the help of Stanley, an energetic
black rebel, and Melanie, a reporter for a British newspaper. However, as Ben probes deeper the
Secret Police turn on him and his personal life fall apart before his eyes. Although the ending is
very different in the novel than in the film, in both Ben is killed by the Secret Police.
Fortunately he has kept record of the information he has uncovered and his story gets told after
all as the reports are passed on and published. The basic story line was preserved in the making of
the film, as are the main ideas. It is the way the film presents the issues to its audience that makes
the difference. Euzhan Palcy left a lot out of the movie partially because some things are
impossible to carry over into a film, such as Ben s internal monologue and the descriptive imagery
present in the novel and partially because she had a different focus and motive in making the film.
As a result of this, she not only omits those things which are unique to a novel, but also omits some
very important characters, important character development, character s actions, and even goes as
far as to insert some actions that were not present in the novel.

The Rank Of Eagle Scout Essay
Achievement is a very important thing for many reasons. Our achievements are what define us
and give us purpose. Achievement helps determine just how far we are willing to go to achieve
goals and to make ourselves successful. I have worked for many achievements, in my lifetime, and
I have many things that I am proud of. However, out of all of my achievements, I would say that
my greatest achievement, was earning the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America.
The rank of Eagle Scout is not something that is easily achieved. Many people have struggled to
obtain the rank and have failed. However, many of America s most influential figures have won
the rank of Eagle Scout. Neil Armstrong, Hank Aaron, and Rick Perry are just a few well known
figures who have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. To add the rank s prestige and importance,
those who do receive the rank make up a very small portion of the Boy Scouts who join the
program.
When I was seven years old, I remember seeing boys from the school s Cub Scouts program
walking through the hallway. Dawned in dark blue uniforms, with orange neckties, and many
colorful badges, these scouts stunned me by the unity and patriotic spirit that they showed. That
evening, I went home from school and ran to the kitchen table where my father was sitting. I
explained to him that I wanted to join scouting. He smiled at me and quickly took me to the local
Boy Scouts headquarters, where I was signed up for a pack as it was called.

about how family and media can influence your foodchoices, our society today and how people

The people we spend time around have a big impact on what we eat. Take family, for example, your
parents usually decide what to eat. If your parents read something about what s healthy, then you
might be eating that for dinner next week. I didn t write The Omnivore s Dilemma to convince you
to eat one kind of food or another. Michael Pollan says in The Omnivore s Dilemma. Most food
literature persuades a person to eat a certain way; whether it s vegetarian or omnivore, whether a
diet of mostly grains is good of if starch is bad. My mom read Dr. David Ludwig s book Always

This book starts off discussing the history of applied sciences. Peter Hernquist is named the father
of veterinary medicine in Sweden and was sent to veterinary school by the Swedish Authorities after
Europe was hit with a cattle plague. Later, Hernquist eventually established an agriculture school in
attempt to modernize education in his country. Within this school he proposed ideas to improve
agriculture. Some ideas entailed increasing pig population, making vinegar from rotten apples and
pears, and reducing the import of grain and use the money to reward successful farmers. While

In 1853, lungsickness arrived though accidently imported cattle into the Cape Colony. A debate
spread about how to treat it, and because of the lack of veterinary services, it was confirmed that
a medical profession should come to treat it. Looking into diseases and wild animals on a closer
level, chapter five discusses bacteria. Friedrich Loeffler isolated a bacteria from diseased mice
and concluded it was not possible to infect other animals of other species. Additionally, in the past
50 years, governments have made it a priority to control the populations of wild animals, as many
of these animals hold diseases that cause health problems. Moving on, the next chapter explains a
report from The Pasteur s Institute in Riga that focuses on the interpretation of data on rabies
epidemiology and post exposure vacation, its modification, results, and scientific work. In addition,
it talks about the importance of vaccinations. On rabies, it talks about statistics associated with it as
well. After diseases became apparent, public health became a priority. Because of the meatscares, a
larger importance was placed on the cattle and meat inspection. Veterinarians stepped in at this
point, and were asked by farmers to look at the animals and try to reduce diseases in attempt to

At the start of the final book, the Narrator provides some information about Mordred and explains
his hatred for Arthur. The narrator remembers Mordred saying It may have happened long ago, but
that doesn t alter the fact that Arthur is my father, and that he turned me adrift in a boat as a baby

will certainly not be awarded any father of the year awards, but Mordred s hatred of Arthur is still

Flexible Discriminant Analysis
The furcula is the main element of avian flight; it is an important origin for flight muscles used in
the down stroke. Many biomechanical functions have been suggested for the Furcular. Originally it
was thought to play a motionless function, acting as a spacer and muscle for flight. Other studies
showed a more active role, where the furcular experience distortions during the wingbeat cycle,
where it spread laterally on the down stroke and rebounding during the upstroke, almost acting like
a spring. This behavior might represent an energy saving adaptation to help with respiration. Past
studies have found that found that subaqueous fliers have more of a V shaped furcular with a high
anteroposterior curvature, whereas soaring bird are more U shaped with low anteroposterior
curvature. This study seeks to clarify this form function relationship through the use of eigenshape
morphometric analysis along with phylogenetic comparative methods (PCMs), and phylogenetic

There should be a call for stricter regulation of post mortem human tissue. It would seem obvious
that what is of paramount value in life would necessarily depreciate in death. This is not true of the
human body. With the emergence of biotechnology and the consequent need for post mortem
human tissue, the human cadaver has become quite valuable. In pieces and parts or in its entirety,
organizations will pay top dollar for the human body, even after it houses the human spirit.
Throughout history, civilizations have found uses for the bodies, organs and tissue of the dead. The
potential for the human cadaver is ever expanding. Since 1954, human organs have been
successfully transplanted into living recipients who would otherwise die. (Ranee Khooshie Lal

Michaelis-Menten Kinetics
Introduction:
Enzymes are biological macromolecule that acts as catalyst and speed up reaction by lowering the
activation energy of the chemical reaction without altering the thermodynamic of reaction
(study.com). However, the enzymes are not consumed in the reaction and they will regenerate
(study.com). According to rsc.org, enzymes have an active site. The reacting molecule that binds to
enzyme is called the substrate (rsc.org). Enzymes catalyze reactions by interacting with the
substrate and the subsequent transition state. These interactions release energy and therefore
stabilize the transition state, which ultimately lowers the activation energy of the reaction (rsc.org).
The purpose of this lab is to measure how an enzyme responds to the presence of an inhibitor in
various concentrations, and identify what type of inhibitor that involved. In this lab, we used the
Michaelis Menten Kinetic, which proposed by two scientists Leonor Michael and Maud Leonora
Menten for enzymatic dynamics. The model explains how reaction rate depends on the
concentration of substrate and enzyme (chemwiki.ucdavis.edu). In the reaction of an enzyme
catalyzed, the enzyme interacts with the substrate by binding to its active site to form the enzyme
substrate complex, ES. The reaction is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Angels In The Christian Bible
ngels are known to be messengers of God, often depicted to be winged creatures. These
supernatural beings are believed widely in many religions, including Christianity, Judaism, Islam,
and even Hinduism. Angels are mystical beings that serve as a link or an intermediary between man
and his Supreme Creator. In the Christian Bible, they are known to be the attendants to Gods throne,
God s messenger to his people, and personal guardians to each and every person. While there are
also evil angels or fallen angels, the divine angels are the ones that people can look up to for
guidance and help.
It is possible to ask help from guardian angels as it is believed that every one has them. In
Hebrews for example, angels are referred to as ministering spirits who are sent to provide guidance
to the world, for the sake of salvation. Angels are known to communicate to mere mortals in many
ways. They can work through the intuition; but one of the most common means in communicating
is through dreams. In the Bible for example, people and prophets were often depicted to be

Memento Mori Short Story Romanticism
After close reading the short story Memento Mori by Jonathan Nolan I have come to the
conclusion that Romanticism is prevalent in the story. After the attack that killed Earl s wife
and injured Earl s brain, he lost his ability to make new memories and so he was controlled and
confined by other people saying what they are doing is for his own good. Earl was trying to find
his place in the universe, as every day he had to wake up and relearn where he is and what he is
doing. He was a man driven by emotion, he had lots of hate and seemed pretty helpless but he
also has a sense of dark humor that helps him deal with his reality. His emotion was a key part of
the story as it triggered his actions. But of course, the only way he kept track of information... Show

When Earl was looking at the picture of himself with flowers standing over his wife s fresh
grave, Earl looks at the picture for a long time. Maybe he begins to cry. Maybe he just stares
silently at the picture. Eventually, he makes his way back to the bed, flops down, seals his eyes
shut, tries to sleep (p. 87). The hall of mirrors shows how lost and confused Earl still is. Earl
would make jokes that are sly remarks aimed at no one but himself. An example of this is,
CIGARETTE? CHECK FOR LIT ONES FIRST, STUPID. Earl laughs at the sign, lights his
cigarette, and takes a long draw (p.86). He also titles himself The ten minute man . These all
show how Earl did not take anything too seriously, he really had nothing to lose and he knew it.
You can t have a normal life anymore. You must know that. How can you have a girlfriend if you
can t remember her name? Can t have kids, not unless you want them to grow up with a dad who
doesn t recognize them. Sure as hell can t hold down a job (p. 88). Being that he remembers
everything before the accident he vividly remembers the accident it also means that he will never

Dividend Policy at FPL Group Inc.
Problem: On May 5, 1994 the utilities analyst of Merrill Lynch downgraded FPL Group Inc. due
to an expectation of adjustment in dividend payments. The report also acknowledged the
probability of a cut in the dividend. Kate Stark of First Equity Securities Corporation analyzes the
situation and she has to predict what is going to happen. This investment alert was published
dropped the stock price by 6% on the same day. 3 weeks ago Kate Stark has recommended a hold
position for FPL Group. With the new report should she change her recommendation?

This involved building a new transmission line, refurbishing of the oldest generating plant,
improving operating efficiency at all plants, and buying a majority share in a coal burning plant
owned by a utility based in Georgia. By 1994 operating efficiency had improved dramatically;
nuclear plant availability had risen to 83% (industry average: 70%), and fossil fuel plant
availability risen to 89% (Industry average: 83%).
These expenditures are funded through internal profits and by issuing $3.7 billion of long term
debt and $1.9 billion common stock. Headcount reduced by 30% while operating and maintenance
expense reduced from 1.82/kWh to 1.61/kWh from 1990 to 1993. As a result FPL became the
largest utility in Florida by 1994 (fourth largest in the country).
Financially 1993 was a record year: FPL s capital expenditure was expected to decline by 33% over
the next five years. Annual sales growth of 3.4% for the past five years exceeded the national
average of 2% and was expected to exceed the average again for the next five years (2.7% vs.
1.8%).
New S amp;P Guidelines for Evaluating Investor Owned Electric Utilities
Starting October 1993, S amp;P started including an evaluation of a utility s competitive position as
part of its financial rating. It would consider such factors as the prospects for customer and sales

Evaluation Of Hedonic Price Model
4. Methodology
4.1. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS)
Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing
prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as
endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices.
First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on
housing prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists.
For example, better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because
such land use features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Show more content on

However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous
studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing
prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the
estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we
use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity
and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations;
P=О»WP+О±L М‚+ОІX+u (5) u=ПЃWu+Пµ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a
log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the
following equations;
lnвЃЎ(P)=О»W[ln(P)]+О±L М‚+ОІX+u(6) u=ПЃWu+Пµ 4.2. Spatial Weight Matrix
A spatial weight matrix presents the pairwise spatial relationship between two any spatial units. It
has two different types such as contiguity based weight matrix and distance based weight matrix.
Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more
appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). Hence, the
spatial weight matrix used in this analysis is expressed as the follows;
W_ij={■(1 if d_ij≤C @0 if d_ij C or i=j)┤(7)
where C denotes a distance cutoff

The 1968 Black Power Rebellion
This year s topic for NHD was Leadership and Legacy, and the topic I chose was the 1968 Black
Power Salute. The Black Power Rebellion has had an impact on other athletes and their civil
disobedience actions. My NHD topic relates to Leadership and Legacy because the black power
rebellion gave hope to all of the African Americans that one day they could all be equal. The
Legacy part of the topic comes from their mark that they left from holding up the black power sign
during the 1968 National Anthem. The three superstar athlete s motive for doing such an action
was they wanted to show that no matter your raceyou are able to have equal rights. The glove they
wore on their hand was black, this also known as The Black Power Sign. Peter Norman

Essay About My Dream
Let me first start off by asking you a question, do you have a dream you are satisfied with? Do
you think your dream is good enough to make/keep you happy for the rest of your life in the
future? Now remember those questions and keep your answer in mind as you read this. At the
very end, did your answer change or stay the same? We shall see.
We all have dreams whether it s the one you get while sleeping, daydreaming in class, or the
dream you are working towards for. The main questions many ask today is what is my dream
(like a future career) or how will I make my dream come true? These are the questions I find
asking myself from a day to day basis. Another one and the most important question, in my opinion,
would probably be will I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Passion gives you a goal or a dream to chase after too. Another quote I hear pretty often is Have
Outstanding Passion Every Day! CollegeTrack. We strive with outstanding passion in whatever
we do, whether is completing a homework assignment, doing a sport, club activities, and just in
life in general. Having this passion gives you something to look forward to every day instead of
mindlessly getting up to go to school or work to do the same generic tasks everyday. Everyday is
a new day, which means there are new challenges, by having a passion it gives you the
motivation, the excitement to conquer new challenges. Think of it as Candy Crush, you worked
on a single level for days and you finally passed that level, the sense of accomplishment
encourages you to pass the next level and so forth. The kind of people with the most amount of
passion are CEO and entrepreneurs because they get to enjoy their creations in their business
every day, solve a new problem in their business or create another branch of their franchise. For
example, Bart Kwan and Joe Jo of JustKiddingFilms, who are very passionate about film and
comedy, combined their two interests and created a YouTube franchise where they dedicate
themselves to making comedic videos. Another example would be myself. I am very passionate
about happiness, wary of others feelings, tend to know when one is happy or sad, and know how
to properly comfort someone. I dedicate my free time to making sure the people around me are

Great Fire Of London Research Paper
The Great Fire of London
The Great Fire of London was an enormous fire that burned down almost all of London. It started
on September 2, 1666, as a small fire erupted on Pudding Lane the city of London would not know
the suffering they were about to endure (Jokinen 1). One of many buildings the fire burnt down
was the world renowned Globe Theatre. The Great Fire of London affected many people, property,
and famous architecture that would pave the way for a new ruler of England.
The Great Fire of London began on the night of September 2, 1666, as a small fire on Pudding
Lane, in the bakeshop of Thomas Farynor, baker to the queen (Jokinen 1). A monument now stands
in place of where the famous bakery was (Eyewitness 1). The city thought the bakery was the
most up to date thing at the time, so no one ever perceived it catching aflame as a possibility. At
one o clock in the morning, a servant woke to find the bakery aflame, and the baker and his
family escaped, but a fear struck maid perished in the blaze (Jokinen 1). The baker escaped
unharmed but, did not tell any of the bystanders about the timely growing fire. This would just be
the beginning of a colossal fire that would test the city of London.

The fire was put out on Pie Corner where also a monument stands in honor of the fire that burned
down London (Eyewitness 2). The fact that the fire burned down a bakery to begin and end with
is ironic in part to the fire could have started anywhere. The city of London would be in what is
called today as a rebuilding era, because eighty percent of the infrastructure in the city burned
down (National 2). The fire would was not well documented due to everything that was written
about the fire was burnt in the fire. The Great Fire of London may have not been well recorded,
but only the victims would know the real effects of the

The Comeback of the Maggot Therapy
The Comeback of the Maggot Therapy
All kinds of arthropods and insects have been and are still employed in many medical treatments
since antiquity. These living organisms are believed to carry myriads of therapeutic benefits, since
they are not biochemically engineered, perhaps a natural remedy. Despite their medical
significance, many of these practices have ceased to exist in today s society, since there are
insufficient scientific evidences to elicit if they are truly efficient and safe for the human body. In
accordance to today s medical perspective and ideology, these treatments may have also been
terminated due to the disgust that is engendered upon the patients as well as the ethical issues
associated with the use of insects. Furthermore, the shortcomings of some of these ancient therapies
might be largely due to the advancements in medical technologies. In spite of this, modern
technologies are still not completely efficient, safe, applicable, and accessible to everyone, since
some of the patients might be too vulnerable to tolerate the consequences associated with each
therapy as well as prices that could be unaffordable. With these limitations, many clinicians are
turning back towards the ancient technologies with tools and wisdoms of the 21st century (http:/
/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2771513/pdf/dst 03 0336.pdf). Among all of the ancient
insect based therapies that were abolished, the maggot therapy is one of the few that has now been
brought back

  • 2. Stereotypes In Finding Forrester As a human, no one really likes to be the victim of stereotyped. No one wants to be looked at get judged because the different of their skin color, culture, religion or by the choice of their outfit. Finding Forrester is a great drama movie based on significantly of different racial situation. In the movie there are two main characters, William Forrester an author who isolated himself from the world, and Jamal Wallace a black teenage boy from the Bronx. They become great friends despite generation gap through their passion for reading and writing. Jamal Wallace is used as a stereotype of the typical black boy in the Bronx who attends low level school and has more interest in the court as a basketball player rather in his text books. No one thought of him capable of doing anything other than playing basketball, and he uses that fact to hide his intelligence behind an academic grade of C average. He just did not want his... He would rather handle his problems behind closed doors rather than confront them face to face. For example, when Jamal faces prejudice from his English professor, who assumes that he uses a title from another author s writing without permission, and demands Jamal to write a letter of apology and read it in front of the class, Jamal refused because he feels he did nothing wrong. Forrester told him to just write the letter and get it over with. Unlike Forrester, Jamal adores going outside, interacting with his friends from school and going to basketball games. Another difference between the Jamal and Forrester is the former s competitive attitude. For instance, when harassed by another student from school on the basketball court, he handled the problem in his own way. That proves his abilities to others and earns him respect from his coach and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have an integrated style with a mix of some humanistic and psychodynamic approaches like Freud s free association or Jung s dream analysis but Object Relations stand out for me. I relate to it at a deep personal level where my poor relationship with my motheraffected my married life and in my client work a common thread that ran through was how faulty infantile object relations have an impact on adult relationships. Object relations theory follows a model that believes that children are driven by the need for attachment with primary caregivers especially the mother and it is paramount for the development of a free functioning psychic structure. ... • 4. A Report Comparing Two Types Of Business Document From... AS APPLIED ICT Sadia Begum Unit 1: GO40 Using ICT to Communicate REPORT Task A A report comparing two types of business document from each of the three organisations. Heaton manor letter After reading the letter from Heaton manor I realised that this letter was written formally. This is because the way the writer has written it is professional. The letter was drafted to the student s parents about a trip. They used the words Dear at the beginning and Yours Faithfully at the end of the page, which is only used if you are writing to a person that you do not know. However, they wrote the letter to Parents and Careers so that it is generalised to whoever is taking care of the child. This is because it is harder to write a letter to each parent. Also, Career is used so that nobody is offended. Although, it would have been exceeding if they wrote to each parent, this would make the parents know that they have taken their time to write to each parent so their child could go to the trip. Also, they have added the date. This material is added to show when the letter was written. The address isn t added. Previously stated, this is because it would have taken the Head of ICT longer, especially as they might not know the addresses of each student. Also, most of the logos are either combined at the top or at the bottom of the page. This is used to show which company or school this is from. In this letter, the colour blue is mostly used, for example, the logo. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Solar PV Power Generation The choice of right type of converters for the different requirement in specific application has great influence on the optimum performance of the photovoltaic system. In last two decades, enormous developments have been taken place in the area of solar PV power generation. A large number of research publications in these areas have led to this persuasion of a critical review of the available literature. In particular, many inverter topologies have been introduced to incorporate several unique features, such as a) intrinsic boost capabilities, b) isolation, c) high efficiency, d) good power decoupling, e) dual grounding function, f) single stage solar power conversion capabilities, g) compact design and h) good power quality, for both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, solar PV module voltage is low, ranging from 30 60V DC. To meet the demand of AC loads, there is a need for inversion as well as a voltage boosting, whereas voltage boosting is dependent on parameters like module voltage, the number of modules, and their connection [7 9]. Thus, it is clear that PCS must have following functionalities, such as voltage boosting (optional), MPPT Tracking and inversion. The voltage boosting stage can be provided by either step up dc dc converter or transformer followed by an inverter [10 13]. But placing the transformer to raise the voltage level is not a good solution as it increases the cost, size, and volume of the overall system. Moreover, it lowers the efficiency of the system. Hence transformerless topologies received lot of attention in past few years [9]. Two types of transformerless solutions are suggested in the literature for solar PV power generations, namely a) multi stage power conversion and b) single stage power conversion [23 24]. Whether it is single stage or multiple stage power conversion the most critical part of a solar PV system is the inverter, which will be discussed in next sections. At present, inverters are the essential cause of breakdown of huge scale PV systems [12]. Moreover, in addition to the quality problems, inverters give restricted power efficiency [7]. Normally, inverter efficiency is around 94% and as the load diminishes the efficiency can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Racial Diversity And Diversity Diversity is permanently entrenched in American culture and with a better understanding of other cultures people can come to a place of collaboration and cooperation with one another. Looking back on what all I have learned in this course, the most important realization I had was just how white washed the scientific community really is. When civil rights issues were in full swing, there was a myriad of white researchers who were attempting to prove the inferiority of other races especially African Americans. Paper after paper delineating all of the physical differences and potential mental differences between African Americans and Caucasians simply to bolster their own inaccurate sense of superiority reveals the darker side of research and scientific exploration (Guthrie, 2004). Several of the issues we discussed in class were ones I was at least somewhat aware of and had been informed about in some sense or another. One of the surprising pieces of information was the health disparity between Caucasians and minorities. Logically speaking this disparity makes sense since when there is such a wide wage gap between these two groups one could assume this would have an effect on the health of those in question as well. While I was aware of the social construction of gender, I was not aware of all of the various types of gender and gender expression that exists in other cultures and societies. For instance, the term two spirited in some Native American tribes refers to people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Christian History And The Holy Spirit Essay Christian history is active and alive as the Holy Spirit works in and amongst the community of Christians who comprise the Church. Similar to the recording of history in the first century by Luke in the Acts of the Apostles, Christian history is still being written today. Specifically, as Evangelical Christians, we write the story of history each day as we work to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16 20) through application of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22: 37 40). As such, we soon realize that we are not casual observers or bystanders of history, but actual participants. In other words, we have a responsibility to both understand and interpret the past and then apply the faith we hold amongst the generation and peoples of the here and now. As we obediently apply God s word to, go therefore and make disciples of all nations and to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, we should awaken to the key terms of all nations and your neighbor. It is with this realization that our neighbors, in the communities in which we live, literally represent the nations of the world. In other words, in the modern world in which we live, changes in demographics, world events, and movements of people have literally brought the nations of the world to our front door. As such, we have a great opportunity to open these doors, which turn opens the door to the gospel to the nations of the world. Essay On Exercise As Treatment For Depression Exercise as Treatment for Depression Jacob Gibson University of Alabama in Birmingham Exercise as Treatment for Depression Depression is a prevalent severe medical disorder that adversely affects the way people feel, think, and act. According to Brosse, Sheets, Lett and Blumenthal (2002), the term depression is used to describe an unease or dissatisfaction mood state, a condition that involves a group of symptoms or a clinical disorder. Depression leads to a series of feelings of sadness or loss of interest in activities that were once appealing. Other symptoms include loss of appetite, increased fatigue, sleeplessness, difficulty in thinking, concentrating, or making decisions, and suicidal thoughts. Depression can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence from studies indicates that negative self evaluations among people including adults and adolescents play a role in the occurrence of major depressive disorders (MDD). It is theorized that effective depression interventions work towards improving self evaluations among patients. For instance, particular self evaluations include applying self efficacy, positive thoughts on body image, and physical self confidence (Brosse et al., 2002 Palmer, 2005). The evidence suggests that improved self evaluations may mediate antidepressant results of exercise. Exercise has been established to have significant psychological effects on an individual s self esteem, primarily those with depression. Self esteem is related to body image compared to any other characteristics of self. According to Doyne, Ossip Klein, Bowman, Osborn, McDougall and Neimey (1987), as individuals exercise regularly, they are most likely to acquire increased physical benefits such as weight loss, muscle strength, and increased respiratory fitness. Such improvements in the physical features of an individual lead to positive personal perceptions and a boost in self esteem. In a study conducted to establish the effects of exercise on adolescents with depression, Carter, Guo, Turner, Morres, Khalil, Brighton and Callaghan (2015) found that after completion of the study using aerobic exercises, the mood of 26 participants dropped and they showed signs of sadness. • 10. Robert Frost Alienation Instances of Alienation in Frost s Out, Wall, and Night A Discussion of Alienation in Robert Frost s Night, Out, and Wall Robert Frost was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, and blessed humanity with a slew of intricate poems with thick meanings and enticing stories. To this day, Frost s poetrycontinues to be widely studied and interpreted by people all over the world. His poetry depicts dark themes of loneliness and alienation with deep, influential meanings. For example, Sarah Hart explains, The speaker projects his own loneliness onto the snowy landscape, claiming he is too absent spirited to count . Sarah is drawing this inference from Frost s Desert Places, which is seemingly one of his most impactful poems when it comes to loneliness or alienation . Also written by Frost, are three more poems that depict alienation values: Acquainted with the Night, Out, Out , and Mending Wall. These three poems, and most importantly Mending Wall, sparked controversy during Frosts time, and sparked the interest of readers around the globe. Within Night, Wall and Out, there are themes of alienation that can be derived. Within the poem Acquainted with the Night, It is clear that the speaker has alienated himself from society. The speaker states, I have been one acquainted with the night. I have walked out in rain and back in rain. I have outwalked the furthest city light (lines 1 3). Once you are on that field you perform the best you ever have. Once you get off you feel proud and accomplished. However, this year that feeling, might have not been repeated. The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has had this feeling for more than two decades. A lot of people don t know, that we re not just a normal halftime marching band, we are a competitive marching band. We travel to competitions in Washington and Oregon. This program has been around for a couple decades, and we don t want to stop now. However, the competitive program was about to be nonexistent this year, due to lack of funds. A lot of students and parents were upset at the thought of no competitive season. All of us in this program feel as if that s the best part of the season. If we lost that it wouldn t bee as much fun. We were so far in debt that if we couldn t raise enough money, it would ve been game over. This wouldn t be a problem though, if we had more money in our budget to do our competitive season. We only receive $1000 which is for the whole band program, according to our band director. My school district needs to fund the EMBC program separately from the regular band programs. I am not saying that their program isn t as important, but we, the EMBC, require more funding for our award winning program. A way we can do that is by moving around funding from teams who ... Plainly speaking, if guns were not so readily available, the number of children suicides in America would decrease significantly. The number of American citizens concerned with children gun violence is rapidly increasing. Nearly a million U.S. students took guns to school during 1998. It is important to note that many school shootings are committed by children who have stolen their parents legally owned guns. Columbine is just one example of what can happen. Over the two years ending June 30, 1999, violence in and around schools happened in 25 states resulting in 105 deaths. Nearly two thirds of the victims were primary and secondary schools students, another 11 percent were teachers or staff, and the remainders were community members slain on school property. Firearms were used in 75 percent of these deaths. For example, take the case of a nine year old girl who took a Glock semiautomatic pistol to school. The girl, who told officials she found the gun in an unlocked drawer in her mother s bedroom, said she wanted it for protection against gang Candamo3 members who had threatened her at school a week ago. • 19. Food In Thai Food For many people in Thailand today, food has become a very important aspect of any holiday celebration and special occasions. In the American western cuisine today, a regular restaurant quality meal consists of appetizers, followed by the main course, and ends with a serving of dessert, where each person would order his or her own food. In Thailand it s the complete opposite to the American cuisine where they would never have any structure in their meals like beginning with appetizers and ending with dessert. In Thai cuisinethe number of dishes is based on the number of people there are around the table, so for example if there are ten people, then ten dishes would be order. One interesting aspect about Thai cuisine is that everyone sitting around the table would equally share their food, so that no one would get stuck with eating the same plate of food, everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy the unique flavors of all the different dishes. The main reason that the Thais share their food is because they believe that it is bad luck for them to eat alone and they see that each meal is a big celebration of social and friendly interactions. When the Thais finished eating all of their food, they would pack up all of the leftover foods from the meal and store it in the refrigerator to eat the next day. Lizbette) IBCT is a couples therapy approach that helps couples facing highly distressed situations (Briggs, Finley Sprenlete,2015). IBCT stems from Behavioral Couples Therapy (BCT); however, due to a lack of outcomes that demonstrated successful long term effects in couples, IBCT was created (Jacobson Christensen, 1996). As stated by Jacobson and Christensen (1996) IBCT consists of elements of emotional acceptance and tolerance to address issues that BCT was unable to do. This was done to add a sense of sympathy and compassion to couplesexperiences and to find solutions to help couples with their problems. According to Briggs et al. (2015) the steps in treating couples using IBCT involve creating a treatment plan, individual and joint sessions which occur during the first four sessions of the therapeutic process. During the assessment session couples are asked to remember and talk about what made them fall in love and how they met in order to find and highlight strengths the couple holds (Mairal, 2015). After the assessment and initial phase is conducted, then treatment can begin which consist of building intimacy, helping couples move from their stuck phase and influencing change (Briggs et al., 2015). There are several interventions used in IBCT. One of the most important interventions is emotional acceptance. Emotional acceptance involves empathetic joining around the problem, increase tolerance of an aversive problem and increase self care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Zuwerink Devine (1996) mentions that although there has been plenty of research done on persuasion, few have focused on the thoughts and behavior when resistance occurs (Zuwerink Devine, 1996). Everything in our everyday life from TV, to radio, to the wide web prevail in using persuasionto affect the choices we make. In order to set a compass to understand and evaluate resistance to persuasion, we divide it the two processes of persuasion: peripheral route and central route. Zuwerink Devine describe them as affective and cognitive processing (Zuwerink Devine, 1996). In order to understand resistance, they had to think about what exactly is considered a strong... Swann, Pelham and Chidester s (1988) research attempted to change the beliefs of those individuals that resist (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). They constructed questions which remained consistent with the beliefs of the individual but more towards an extremist point of view (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). They expected the individuals how had a high certainty in their beliefs would be more resistance towards the more extreme questions, therefore changing their beliefs in the opposite direction, momentarily (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). The first study was to demonstrate the contrast between standard questions on women s roles versus the extreme questions and the control group was given unbiased questions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). The study resulted in a weak correlation for low certainty believers would change with standard questions nor, high certainty believer changed for extreme questions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). The second study was to study the dimensions of the individuals change in thought. Were the changes in beliefs reported from the previous study significant to change their entire view on women role s or did the individual agreed with changing their beliefs because they were aware or concerned of how they would appear to others if they had agreed to those extreme questions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). In the end, their research was sufficient in concluding that individuals with low certainty beliefs are easily persuaded; individuals with high certainty beliefs can momentarily change their belief and thus be persuaded with paradoxical questions that shock their self perceptions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, ... As we enter the modern age, maps on the internet and global positioning system(GPS) have become a more efficient way to travel because it allows users to get a step by step instruction on how to get to their destination. In 2004, Google debuted Google Maps, a service that that disrupt the GPS device industry and has paved the way for future navigation and GPS related apps. The success of GoogleMaps was primarily based on the advances of technology, economic events, its versatility, and how it is practically free to use. Google started out as a search engine company that made money from selling ads. Cellular devices have been popular since the 1900s but as technology advances smartphones took the market in 2008. Google took that golden opportunity and make a mobile operating system. At the same time Apple was in the same race and competing to seize the smartphone market. Bragging about design and retail marketing, Apple established their name in the mobile market. Google was locked in battle with one of the world s largest companies. However, although Apple had an advantage over design and retail marketing, Google had a completive advantage in information. In 2008 Google released Google Maps for mobile and it featured a GPS navigation. This was a critical step for Google because it was estimated that map apps were used the most right after communication. Currently Google maps is said to be used by 69% of all ... The greatest changes possibly occurred in respect to Europe, West Africa, and the Americas. Europe experienced a complete overhaul of society. Achievement helps determine just how far we are willing to go to achieve goals and to make ourselves successful. I have worked for many achievements, in my lifetime, and I have many things that I am proud of. However, out of all of my achievements, I would say that my greatest achievement, was earning the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. The rank of Eagle Scout is not something that is easily achieved. Many people have struggled to obtain the rank and have failed. However, many of America s most influential figures have won the rank of Eagle Scout. Neil Armstrong, Hank Aaron, and Rick Perry are just a few well known figures who have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. To add the rank s prestige and importance, those who do receive the rank make up a very small portion of the Boy Scouts who join the program. When I was seven years old, I remember seeing boys from the school s Cub Scouts program walking through the hallway. Dawned in dark blue uniforms, with orange neckties, and many colorful badges, these scouts stunned me by the unity and patriotic spirit that they showed. Michaelis-Menten Kinetics Introduction: Enzymes are biological macromolecule that acts as catalyst and speed up reaction by lowering the activation energy of the chemical reaction without altering the thermodynamic of reaction (study.com). However, the enzymes are not consumed in the reaction and they will regenerate (study.com). According to rsc.org, enzymes have an active site. The reacting molecule that binds to enzyme is called the substrate (rsc.org). Enzymes catalyze reactions by interacting with the substrate and the subsequent transition state. These interactions release energy and therefore stabilize the transition state, which ultimately lowers the activation energy of the reaction (rsc.org). The purpose of this lab is to measure how an enzyme responds to the presence of an inhibitor in various concentrations, and identify what type of inhibitor that involved. In this lab, we used the Michaelis Menten Kinetic, which proposed by two scientists Leonor Michael and Maud Leonora Menten for enzymatic dynamics. How can you have a girlfriend if you can t remember her name? Can t have kids, not unless you want them to grow up with a dad who doesn t recognize them. Sure as hell can t hold down a job (p. 88). Being that he remembers everything before the accident he vividly remembers the accident it also means that he will never forget the face of the man who do it. After searching the internet, I found the name of the article Memento Mori has Latin roots, quoting Wikipedia, Memento mori is the medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality . It is a powerful tool for managing uncertainty that arises from inexact, noisy, or incomplete information. It also shown to be methodologically signicant in the domains of articial intelli gence and cognitive science, especially in respect of the representation of and the reasoning with imprecise knowledge, machine learning, and knowledge discovery [10][11][12]. And we just consider relative minimal reduction in this paper. Genetic algorithm is a searching approach [8] that is based on natural genetic mechanism and natural reduction. Using the strategy of survival of the ttest in the nature, the algorithm uses random genetic operators to generate several new solutions, eliminates the poorer, and keeps the better and promising ones. The information of the ttest solutions is constantly utilized to search for the new unknown area of the searching space. Its show e ective use of historic information that makes every search moving forward according to the best direction, genetic algorithm is similar to simulated annealing algorithm and tabu searching [9]. As a result, genetic algorithm is not only a random searching approach, but also a directing random searching approach. This involved building a new transmission line, refurbishing of the oldest generating plant, improving operating efficiency at all plants, and buying a majority share in a coal burning plant owned by a utility based in Georgia. By 1994 operating efficiency had improved dramatically; nuclear plant availability had risen to 83% (industry average: 70%), and fossil fuel plant availability risen to 89% (Industry average: 83%). These expenditures are funded through internal profits and by issuing $3.7 billion of long term debt and $1.9 billion common stock. Headcount reduced by 30% while operating and maintenance expense reduced from 1.82/kWh to 1.61/kWh from 1990 to 1993. As a result FPL became the largest utility in Florida by 1994 (fourth largest in the country). Financially 1993 was a record year: FPL s capital expenditure was expected to decline by 33% over the next five years. Annual sales growth of 3.4% for the past five years exceeded the national average of 2% and was expected to exceed the average again for the next five years (2.7% vs. 1.8%). • 42. Evaluation Of Hedonic Price Model 4. Methodology 4.1. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS) Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on housing prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists. For example, better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because such land use features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations; P=О»WP+О±L М‚+ОІX+u (5) u=ПЃWu+Пµ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the following equations; lnвЃЎ(P)=О»W[ln(P)]+О±L М‚+ОІX+u(6) u=ПЃWu+Пµ 4.2. Spatial Weight Matrix A spatial weight matrix presents the pairwise spatial relationship between two any spatial units. It has two different types such as contiguity based weight matrix and distance based weight matrix. Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). Hence, the spatial weight matrix used in this analysis is expressed as the follows; W_ij={в– (1 if d_ij≤C @0 if d_ij C or i=j)┤(7) where C denotes a distance cutoff ... The Black Power Rebellion has had an impact on other athletes and their civil disobedience actions. The Legacy part of the topic comes from their mark that they left from holding up the black power sign during the 1968 National Anthem. The three superstar athlete s motive for doing such an action was they wanted to show that no matter your raceyou are able to have equal rights. Do you think your dream is good enough to make/keep you happy for the rest of your life in the future? Now remember those questions and keep your answer in mind as you read this. At the very end, did your answer change or stay the same? We shall see. We all have dreams whether it s the one you get while sleeping, daydreaming in class, or the dream you are working towards for. The main questions many ask today is what is my dream (like a future career) or how will I make my dream come true? These are the questions I find asking myself from a day to day basis. Another quote I hear pretty often is Have Outstanding Passion Every Day! CollegeTrack. We strive with outstanding passion in whatever we do, whether is completing a homework assignment, doing a sport, club activities, and just in life in general. Having this passion gives you something to look forward to every day instead of mindlessly getting up to go to school or work to do the same generic tasks everyday. Everyday is a new day, which means there are new challenges, by having a passion it gives you the motivation, the excitement to conquer new challenges. Think of it as Candy Crush, you worked on a single level for days and you finally passed that level, the sense of accomplishment encourages you to pass the next level and so forth. The kind of people with the most amount of passion are CEO and entrepreneurs because they get to enjoy their creations in their business every day, solve a new problem in their business or create another branch of their franchise. For example, Bart Kwan and Joe Jo of JustKiddingFilms, who are very passionate about film and comedy, combined their two interests and created a YouTube franchise where they dedicate themselves to making comedic videos. • 47. Great Fire Of London Research Paper The Great Fire of London The Great Fire of London was an enormous fire that burned down almost all of London. It started on September 2, 1666, as a small fire erupted on Pudding Lane the city of London would not know the suffering they were about to endure (Jokinen 1). One of many buildings the fire burnt down was the world renowned Globe Theatre. The Great Fire of London affected many people, property, and famous architecture that would pave the way for a new ruler of England. The Great Fire of London began on the night of September 2, 1666, as a small fire on Pudding Lane, in the bakeshop of Thomas Farynor, baker to the queen (Jokinen 1). A monument now stands in place of where the famous bakery was (Eyewitness 1). The city thought the bakery was the most up to date thing at the time, so no one ever perceived it catching aflame as a possibility. At one o clock in the morning, a servant woke to find the bakery aflame, and the baker and his family escaped, but a fear struck maid perished in the blaze (Jokinen 1). • 48. The Comeback of the Maggot Therapy The Comeback of the Maggot Therapy All kinds of arthropods and insects have been and are still employed in many medical treatments since antiquity. These living organisms are believed to carry myriads of therapeutic benefits, since they are not biochemically engineered, perhaps a natural remedy. Despite their medical significance, many of these practices have ceased to exist in today s society, since there are insufficient scientific evidences to elicit if they are truly efficient and safe for the human body. In accordance to today s medical perspective and ideology, these treatments may have also been terminated due to the disgust that is engendered upon the patients as well as the ethical issues associated with the use of insects. Furthermore, the shortcomings of some of these ancient therapies might be largely due to the advancements in medical technologies. In spite of this, modern technologies are still not completely efficient, safe, applicable, and accessible to everyone, since some of the patients might be too vulnerable to tolerate the consequences associated with each therapy as well as prices that could be unaffordable. With these limitations, many clinicians are turning back towards the ancient technologies with tools and wisdoms of the 21st century (http:/ /www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2771513/pdf/dst 03 0336.pdf).
