The Principle Of The Principles Of Enterprise Architecture
Principle 1
Primacy of principles
Statement:
These principles of enterprise architecture apply to all business units within the enterprise.
Rationale:
The only way we can provide a consistent and measurable level of quality information to decision
makers is if all business units with Lotterywest abide by the principles.
Implications:
Without this principle, exclusions, favouritism, and inconsistency would rapidly undermine the
management of information.
System related initiatives will not begin until they are examined for compliance with the principles
Principle 2
Maximise benefit to the enterprise.
Statement:

The IS function must define processes to manage business unit expectations.
Data, application, and technology models must be created to enable integrated quality solutions and to
maximise results.
4.2 Data Principles
Principle 8
Data is an asset
Statement:
Data is an information asset that has value to Lotterywest and will be managed accordingly.
Rationale:
Data is a valuable corporate resource; it has real, measurable value. The purpose of data is to aid
evidence based decision making. Accurate, timely data is critical to accurate, timely decisions. Most
corporate assets are carefully managed and data is no exception. Data is the foundation of our decision
making, so we must also carefully manage data to ensure that we know where it is, can rely upon its
accuracy, and can obtain it when and where we need it.
Implications:
This one of three closely related principles regarding data: data is an asset; data is shared; and data is
easily accessible. All Lotterywest decision makers should understand the relationship between the
value of data, sharing of data, and accessibility of data.
Data owners must have the authority and means to manage the data for which they are

Keith Jones In Philadelphia Sport
Philadelphia is notorious for being an extremely tough sports town. One day, the fan base can think
you are the best player in your league, then the next they re calling for your head and sending you on a
bus right out of town. In order to succeed in Philly, you need to be a great athlete and you have to be
consistent. Nobody succeeds in Philly by just being average . However, No one in the history of
Philadelphia sports has made a successful career off of being an average player better than... . Who
comes to mind? Jason Avant? Carlos Ruiz? Samuel Dalembert? Well the answer is no, no, and no. The
answer is Keith Jonesy Jones.
Now, some of you might be asking yourself, who the heck is Keith Jones? Keith Jones was a forward
for the Philadelphia flyers from 1998 2001. Starting from the beginning, Keith Jones was born on
November 8th, 1968 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Keith Jones, like any boy growing up in Canada,
learned to play hockey at a very young age. He started skating when he was 2 years old, and then

The city of Philadelphia is a hard working town that likes athletes that put their noses to the grindstone
and play hard. Keith Jones played the role of the grinder which meant Jonesy would do all the hard
work in the corners and get the puck to the stars so they could score the goals. Jonesy also had to do
the fighting, and through this he showed his grit by never backing down. Also, Philly is considered the
city of brotherly love so for example, Philadelphians are nice to their neighbors (however there is the
occasional argument or feud between neighbors) and Philadelphians like to think they are better than
the rich snobs from new york, or the classless citizens of Boston. Jonesy embodied this by playing the
game rough and tumble, but not dirty in any

Study Nicky Cruz s Life Essay
Nicky Cruz Assignment In this research project i decided to study Nicky Cruz because I find his life
very interesting. I chose to find out what his early life was like, how God used him and what i can
learn from him. Nicky Cruz (full name San Nicholas de le Cruz, meaning Saint Nicholas of the holy
cross) was born on the 6th of december, 1938, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the 8th of 18
children. Nicky s parents were both sorcerors, and had a huge reputation and were greatly respected.
They specialised in contacting the dead , healing people, lifting curses and fortune telling. His mother
would allow demons to enter her mind to find out what was wrong with people. His fathers name was
Galo Cruz, known widely as El Taumaturgo (the charmer). He was raised on the Peurto Rican island
of Vieques, and had previously been married and had 3 other children. Galo was very strict, and
whenever Nicky and his brothers did anything wrong, they would be frightened that their father would
find out and punish them. He turned entirely to white magic after someone he was payed to curse
became violently ill. Nicky became deathly ill at 2 months of age and his father cured him with
witchcraft and sacrificing a black hen. Nicky was the black sheep of the family. His school teachers
were scared of him, but adored his brothers. He was severely abused physically, mentally and verbally
by his parents, particularly his mother, who often told him she hated him and cursed by calling him

A system analyst is an important part of a business, who is usually an IT professional, specializing in
analyzing, designing and implementing information systems. The primary role of a system analyst is
to assess situations, and the suitability of information systems, and then study the problems and

as much information as possible and determine any specific requirements needed for e.g. software,
which will be specified in the requirements specification. The end product of the system analyst stage
is known as the deliverable which will be the end set of requirements that the analyst has chosen for

Our World Is Increasingly Being Taken Over By Workaholics.
Our world is increasingly being taken over by workaholics. The United Sates has been the leader in
very demanding work schedules for decades now. Furthermore, at least eighteen percent of people
work sixty or more hours a week in the United States (Cohen). One of the stimulus that sparked my
topic was The Myth of Sisyphus, by Albert Camus. It connects to my research because it talks about
how Sisyphus was condemned to ever lasting torment and despair knowing he was doing a lot of futile
labor. This labor caused him to have thoughts of suicide because he saw his destiny and did not see the
point of life. Another stimulus I used was Long working hours and cancer risk: a multi cohort study. It
shows how working long hours is linked to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who worked more than eighty hours a week increased their risk of coronary heart disease by
ninety four percent. The increased risk found in the study may be due to distorted sleeping and eating
habits. When workers spend too much time in the office, they often choose fast food establishments
over cooking their own healthy, nutritious meals for dinner (Cohen). Furthermore, people who work
long hours usually do not exercise often. The Australian Diabetes, Obesity, and Lifestyle Study found
that people who have a high sedentary lifestyle have a 112 percent increase risk of Type 2 diabetes
(Bixby). Another study showed that people who sit for more than twenty five hours a week have an
increased risk in developing metabolic risk factors, such as bad cholesterol and insulin resistance
(Washington Post). On average, a person sitting for too long is likely to burn fifty less calories.
Burning less calories, in addition to the six pounds gained from consuming a multitude of office
snacks, can have a detrimental effect on an individual s health (Bixby). Working long hours can have
an effect on child bearing women. It causes increased stress from the conflicts of working long hours
on family life. As a result, there is an increased risk of spontaneous abortion, low birth weight, and
prematurity (Harrington). Women who experienced threatened abortion or preterm birth had longer

Compare Sigmund Freud And Alfred Adler
Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler are well known and respected men in the world of psychology. Both
their theories involved the study of the human mind. Freud believed that much of the human instinct
was sexually based and that many problems they suffered were due to this instinct. Freud concluded
that his patients memories reached back to childhood and that many of the repressed experiences they
recalled concerned sexual issues. Adler believed there was more to the individual but also knew that
biology had an influence. He also believed that one s birth order and socially affected the development
of the human personality.
Sigmund Freud is known as the father or the founder of psychoanalysis because he concluded that
psychological problems goes back to sexual issues. Freud was influenced by the works of
psychologists such as Charles Darwin and Ernst Brucke, but Freud s teacher Jean Martin Charcot, was
the one that influenced him the most. Charcot influenced Freud because Charcot used a form of
hypnosis. Freud overheard Charcot talking about how he used this method on one patient and that that
patient had experienced hysterical symptoms. Charcot is only one of the many circumstances that
helped create his belief that there was a relationship that connected neurosis and unresolved sexual
issues.
Freud was interested by how Charcot used a hypnosis to treat hysteria. Freud started to experiment
with hypnotherapy. He concluded that hypnotherapy effected patients and it could be

Idi Amin As A Leader That Abuse The Power
Throughout history there have been many leaders who abuse the power that has been bestowed upon
them. A person who abuses such power is considered a dictator, tyrant, despot, etc. These dictators
typically rule through fear, and don t usually win the hearts of many. They will do whatever it takes to
stay in power over the country that they rule. One such ruler is named Idi Amin. Idi was a ruler who
abused his power and saw himself as someone who was a man of influence.
Idi Amin was born on 1925 in Koboka, Uganda (History.com). He was raised with little to no
education, but quickly found his place in the world. He joined the King s African Rifles (KAR) and
quickly rose through the ranks.Milton Obote had become the first prime minister of Uganda in 1962.
He had forged an alliance with Amin, who helped expand the size of the Ugandan military. After a few
assassination attempts, Obote began to question Amin s loyalty and ordered his arrest. When the
leader of Uganda was away, Amin staged a coup and seized the government. Idi took the government
with blood, which isn t surprising due to his reputation (History.com).
Idi earned his reputation through the killing of about 500,000 people (History.com). He started off by
executing members of the Acholi and Lango tribes that had been loyal to Obote, and set up agencies to
eliminate anyone opposed to his regime. Within his rule he expelled Uganda s entire Asian population,
resulting in a collapse of the economy as manufacturing,

The Light of Unrestricted Progression The average human lifestyle has drastically improved over the
past several years. Advances in medicine and technology have directly led to an irrevocable increase
in both the quality of living, as well as the length of average lifetimes. Prior to this modern revolution
of medical applications, humans who lived during the middle ages were stricken with plagues, disease,
injuries, and other difficulties with health that greatly wreaked havoc on mortality rates. Since
remaining in a state of adequate health is so fundamental to human satisfaction and progression,
individuals have historically centered the majority of their existence on ensuring that the underlying

The benefits and opportunities to embrace engineering far outweigh the difficulties in the process, but
despite this, my pure love for mathematics has been the major contributor to my ambitions. From a
young age, I found math incredibly enjoyable. The order and consistency found through something as
simple as the order of operations served as a driving force to my curiosity and dedication to the
subject. As the mathematical concepts intensified, I was able to adequately keep up and enjoy the
journey along the way. While signing up for my senior year classes, the decision to take calculus was
made easily. While speaking with the instructor, Yvonne Sebastian, I discovered that her love for math
was derived from similar feelings. In an interview with Sebastian, she stated, Math is a beautiful thing.
Numbers are incredibly simple, but they can be used to calculate very complex scenarios. No matter
how difficult a problem may seem, there is always a solution, an answer that can be found and
understood through the power of math (Y. Sebastian, personal communication, February 14, 2017).
Interacting with a teacher who understood to a great level of degree my similar feelings regarding
math has been an incredible motivator in my desire to pursue a career which incorporates mathematics
frequently. For any individual to be happy with their occupation, I would argue that they must
experience a desire to progress

ISTJ Character Analysis
According to my test result, ISTJ, I am a person who values loyalty, tradition, factual information, and
structure. As an ISTJ, I am hardworking, logical, extremely observant and a natural leader. My
strengths as a Duty Fulfiller include being a good listener and spender, the ability to digest
constructive criticism, to endure conflict without emotional upheaval, and to allocate punishment
when necessary. Because of this, I can achieve almost any goal I set for myself. How reassuring! On
the opposite end of the spectrum, ISTJs typically are not comfortable with expressing emotion to
others and are not naturally in tune with other people s feelings. We also dislike change, abstract
theory, and nonsensical work. I cannot agree with my supposed lack of ability to sense other people s
feeling, in fact, I find this to be contrary to one of the other ISTJ traits, the trait of being extremely
observant. I also think everyone has little patience for nonsensical work. My weaknesses include a
propensity to think I am always right (which I am) and a tendency to not show enough appreciation
for my loved ones. The later has been made abundantly clear throughout my life; my mother used to

man came and helped him escape some confederate soldiers. The boy didn t have much strength at the
time and only remembered being covered in limbs and mug to hide. All of a sudden he woke up at the
black man s house. This is when we found out that the boy s name was Sheldon, Say for short, and the
black man s name was Pinkus, Pink for short. Pink s mother doctored them both back to health before
they set off to find their troops who they both lost. Then, confederate troops started to approach the

Essay Symbols in Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Symbols in Susan Glaspell s Trifles
In the play titled Trifles, by Susan Glaspell, Minnie Foster Wright is being accused of murdering her
husband, John. In this production, Mrs. Wright is consistently referenced, and although she is not
witnessed, she is very recognizable. There are important symbols in this play that signifies Mrs.
Wright and her existence as it once was and as it currently exists to be. Particularly the canary, this
symbolizes Mrs. Wright s long forgotten past. Additionally, the birdcage, this symbolizes her life as it
currently exists. Certainly the quilt is a symbol, which is an important clue on how Mr. Wright was
killed. In addition, the rocking chair, this symbolizes her life as it has diminished throughout ... Show

While the canary was incredibly lively and sang beautifully, so did Mrs. Foster. John Wright was
awfully abusive towards Mrs. Wright, in the means that he required her to live her life comparable to a
caged bird. He obtained her freedom from the outside world, in return, explains why she recognized
herself in the bird. This explains for the reasoning of their house being far set back into the woods and
having no telephone service. She ventured out, only when she was allowed, and assuming that John
also did not allow her to have friends, this led to the killing of the canary.
The quilt is one major clue as to how Minnie killed her husband. The women were trying to figure out
if she was going to sew or not the quilt. Well, Mr. Wright was strangled in a strange manner, just how
the knot was messed up in red string. The men laughed it off butt Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters knew
what had happened.
Mrs. Wright is referred to when Mrs. Hale speaks of her by using her maiden name, when saying ?I
wish you?d seen Minnie Foster when she wore a white dress with blue ribbons and stood up there in
the choir and sang.? The old rocking chair symbolizes Mrs. Wright as she has allowed herself to
depreciate, just as the rocking chair has depreciated. ?The chair sagged to one side,? Mrs. Hale stated
that the chair was not anything like she remembered, referring to the fact that Mrs. Wright has also
changed since she

Stare Decisis And Judicial Precedent
Stare decisis and Judicial Precedent
In the course of deciding cases, judges create legal rules. This generates a precedent, contained in law
reports that may be relied on in the future. The procedure by which judges follow decisions of
previous cases is regarded as the doctrine of judicial precedent. This doctrine, is based on the Latin
principle of stare decisis, stand by what has already being decided , stating that previously decided
cases of higher courts generate a binding precedent over lower courts. The doctrine of precedent
operates within the case law of the English legal system following the Court Hierarchy. As for judges
are expected to treat sufficiently similar cases, in law and fact, in the same way, following the same ...

This decision provided the foundation of the modern law of negligence and set a binding precedent
then followed by cases such as Robinson v Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police decided by the
Court of Appeal. Binding precedent, a precedent that must be followed, is constituted by decisions on
legal principles, which within a judgement is regarded as the ratio decidendi. The obiter dicta, things
said by the way , constitutes the other part of a judgement, is mainly based on questions of fact and
therefore do not create a binding but a persuasive precedent, which judges can refer to but are not
required to do so. The case of R V Howe Bannister stated that duress is not an available defence in
murder. The obiter dicta of this case was followed in R V Gotts (1992) 2 AC 412 , which held that
such defence was equally not available for the offence of attempted murder .
Case law is based on authoritative premises that leaded to the creation of a court structure founded in
hierarchical principles. Therefore, the feature that determines the judicial practice of the doctrine of
precedence is the authoritarian nature of the court hierarchy , principle that established that higher
courts on the system have more authority than the inferior courts, being self imposing and should be
considered as commanding over lower courts, as for it provides a better interpretation and
understanding of the law. Accordingly, First

Benefits Of Going Into The Workforce
When one chooses to go to college, they are investing in their future career. Once a young adult leaves
high school they have a choice to either go to college or to go into the workforce. When deciding
which path they will take, they must look at both the benefits and disadvantages. The advantage to
going straight into the workforce is being able to immediately start their profession of choice and do
not have to pay off expensive college loans. The disadvantage to going straight into the workforce is
the fact that in today s job market, there are not many high paying jobs that do not require a degree.
However, the benefit of going to college is that careers that require a college degree are often high
paying and come with worker s benefits. College affords the student to develop and master academic
and social skills. Companies and employers are not willing to invest time and money into prospects
without those skills or a formal education. The disadvantage to going to college is brought upon
because college tuition has doubled in the past ten years, which makes college unaffordable without
being overwhelmed by student loans for the rest of one s life (Graff 179). The differences between
these two paths make the decision to go to college one of the most influential decisions of an
individual s entire life. Each of these paths have their advantages and disadvantages, but in the long
run, going to college is more beneficial than going straight into the workforce. Even if one

Petrarchan Tone
John Donne s Petrarchan sonnet Wilt thou love God, as he thee? Then digest, ruminates on the one
sidedness of God s relationship with man particularly by referencing a theme of royalty throughout the
sonnet. Donne reminds his soul that Christ became a man even though man is not equal with God,
who is so much greater. Certainly, this sonnet exhibits royally figurative language, a free flowing
syntax, and a subtly meditative tone to depict the depth of God the Father s steadfast love for
humanity and Jesus Christ s humility by dying a criminal s death.
This sonnet starts off with a rhetorical question to create a slightly meditative tone that Donne utilizes

The robbed man described clearly refers to Christ and how he was robbed of his life so that God could
buy back humanity from the chains of death (9). Instead of forgetting about his stol n stuff, Christ
buys back his people with holy, precious blood (10). Back to the subtle theme of royalty, God the Son
diverges from what a king would do for his servants. The Son of Glory became a servant and died for
his servants for their sake (11). Though Satan had stol n God s creation from him by tempting Adam
and Eve in the Garden of Eden, God conquers Satan by Christ s death on the cross and his subsequent
resurrection from the bondages of death (12). Similarly, the speaker reminds his soul about how much
easier was God s task of creating man in his own image compared to God becoming man himself (13
14). While mankind s equality to God does not exist, Christ humbled himself by becoming a living

Restaurant Scene Analysis

was not very diverse, I had to look back in history to not so long ago when times were very different.
Studying historical particularism allowed me to do so and therefore further my understanding of what
the underlying problems may be. Historically, the town was not very accepting of social diversity and
therefore the citizens are acting similarly to how they were raised and implementing their recursive
actions. This plays a big part on the social constructionism in the area which explains how certain
restaurants were perceived. An example of this from the article was the 40 60 rule in which no more

The year of 2015 was very significant for certain individuals, but it was a year that affected all
Americans in some way or another. This was the year that Gay marriage became legal in all fifty
states. Prior to this monumental action by the Supreme Court, there was not a wide acceptance of gay
marriage within certain parts of America. Since then, not only have people been more accepting
towards gay marriage, but people are taking it a step further and examining gay rights as a whole. This
includes rights such as parental rights. The New York Times covered a story in which a gay couple
adopted a baby with intensions to raise him together. After breaking up, the biological mother
attempted to deny the other mother the right to raise their son. The Supreme Court ruled that it would
be inconsistent to deny a gay couple the same rights as a straight couple in regards to parental care. In
the recent history of the United States, the historical particularism suggests it would have been thought
nearly impossible for a gay couple to be allowed to legally marry each other let alone have and raise a
family. The ideology of communities within the United States shifted from absolutely not allowing
gay right to anyone, to giving them the same rights as straight people. The reconfiguration of this idea
stems from the change in social and cultural constructionism. Symbols are constantly evolving and
representing a new meaning which is how social change happens. The symbols associated

share my personal information, so I am not too scared of my personal identity being stolen or being
seen by others, but having online identities can impact one s goals if they are not careful about what
they are sharing or interacting with online. If you are applying for a job and the boss sees what you
have been up to on social media or against the company s policies you could lose a great opportunity,
or if you already have a job you have to be careful what you share, because you could also get fired
because of your online identity. Hopefully having a soon to be professional identity out there I will try
to limit all information to what is only needed and hopefully not have any hackers or thieves steal my
professional identity or make me out to something I am not. Having the issue of privacy affects my
educational goals, causing me to be more alarmed and aware of the issue, which may limit my
opportunities that I see may lack privacy. The issue of privacy also affects my professional goals, such
as if I want to advertise and get my name out there in the open and all over the media.

Early History of the Pipe Organ
Early History of the Pipe Organ The king of instruments has a long history, one which can arguably be
traced to the concept of a collection of fixed pitched pipes blown by a single player (such as the
panpipes) (Randel 583). The first examples of pipe organs with the basic features of today can be
traced to the third century B.C.E. in the Greco Roman arena; it is said to have been invented by
Ktesibios of Alexander and contained a mechanism to supply air under pressure, a wind chest to store
and distribute it, keys and valves to admit wind to the pipes, and one or more graded sets of fixed
pitch pipes. (Randel 583) These early organs used water as a means to supply air pressure, hence the
use of the terms hydraulic and hydraulis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By adding a stop to a manual, one could then play, in unison, two or more sets of ranks
simultaneously. These stops included new types of pipes created by the Germans which provided
varying sounds, including those that mimicked the viol family, reed stops (trumpet, posaune, shalm,
vox humana, etc.), closed pipes adding a much softer and deeper sound and smaller pipes which
produced more penetrating sounds. There was also the mixture stop, which originated (we think) in
the twelfth century when one or two pipes were added to a key, usually tuned to a fifth and octave or
third and tenth; it is also speculated that this practice helped spark harmony in music composition.
(Hopkins Rimbault 36 8) During this time the pedal began receiving its own set of stops separate from
those of the other manuals. At this point in the organ s history, development was fairly uniform
throughout Europe due mainly to the unrestricted travel of organ builders and musicians whose input
would influence foreign builders. The uniformity of the Catholic church also helped perpetuate the use
of similar organs throughout Europe. This trend of consistent organ building began to decline during
the Reformation and Counter Reformation, both leading toward more political and national boundaries
being enforced, which increased the difficulty of unrestricted travel. Now we begin to see trends and
different regional styles of construction,

Women s Gender And Gender Roles
In terms of the heterosexual majority, respectability applied deeply to women and their gender roles as
wives, because it was the way to distinguish between good and oversexed women (Kushner 9/25/15).
The characteristics of women consisted of being pious, pure and religious, as they were the moral
superiors to men (Kushner, 9/25/15). This moral superiority linked to the idea that Cott presents of
female passionlessness, which was the result of subsequent lack of sexual aggressiveness (Cott 1987:
220). Passionlessness however was not simply a gendered characteristic it played a vital sexual as the
controlling factor over hyper sexual husbands (Cott 1978: 235). The very structure of Victorian
marriages relied on women s passionlessness because it supported women s demure and respectable
nature in society, while also keeping men under control and containing sexuality to the home
(Kushner, 9/25/15). The concept of respectability not only shaped how women and men acted in both
sexual and non sexual ways but outlined the ways proper marriages ought to function. In order to
understand the re rise to conservatism in the mid twentieth century post war America, one must
consider the influence of Sexology on society. Sexology which is the study of sexuality, behavior,
functions, and identity gained importance between the late ninetieth century and the early twentieth in
the West. During this time Sexologists like Krafft Ebbing, Kinsey, and Ulricks, studied sexual

The Use Of Pathos And Adverts In The Samsung Commercial
People are constantly searching for the newest and most advanced technology. Phones are a
predominant mobile device. The advertisements publicize different brands of smartphones. The Apple

Samsung commercial shows Christoph Waltz using the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to display the
busyness of the American lifestyle. These commercials use pathos, ethos, and logos.
Pathos is an appeal that creates an emotional response from viewers. The use of pathos in the Apple
commercial induces an amusing atmosphere. At the beginning of the advertisement, Dwayne Johnson
is lifting weights, trimming a bonsai tree, reading movie lines, and having his head shaved while a
news reporter on the television questions his ability to balance an impossible schedule. Dwayne
Johnson participates in several dramatized scenes such as taking a selfie while floating in space in his
astronaut attire ( iPhone 7 The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day Apple internet). Dwayne Johnson has a
nonchalant demeanor that contrasts with the frantic people around him. This creates an episode of

exaggeration of the various events in his day and Dwayne Johnson s interaction with other people
throughout the commercial creates a comical reaction from viewers. The use of pathos in the Samsung

Effects Of Classical Conditioning In A Bite Of China
Introduction
The psychology theory seems to be professional, and it is hard to use in daily lives in many common
people s views. However, some principles are used widely in TV shows or movies. For example,
classical conditioning can make people to perform a specific behavior after several times training . In
the essay, the author will introduce a TV show called A Bite of China and discuss how the TV show
use classical conditioning.
Background information
Classical Conditioning
Classical Conditioning was founded by a Russian physiologist, Ivan P. Pavlov, in the early 1900s. At
first, He assumed that animals have automatic connections called unconditioned reflexes, which is a
reflection between a fixed stimulus and response such as the food and secreting digestive juices. He
speculated that the stimulus can be transferred from one to another. After that, Pavlov did the
experiments and get the conclusion. In the process, he gave a dog food and the dog salivated. The
connection between the food and the salivation was automatic requiring no training. The food was
called unconditioned stimulus (UCS) and the salivation was called unconditioned response (UCR).
The UCS is an event that automatically elicits an UCR. In other words, the UCR is the action that the
UCS elicits. Next, Pavlov introduced a new stimulus, such as a metronome. At the beginning, the dogs
heard the metronome but did not salivate. In this period, the metronome was a neutral stimulus (NS)
about salivation. After

The Changes the Obama Adminsitation Has Made in Foriegn...
The US has received criticisms due to its post 9/11 foreign policy. Its policy created shifts in alliances

The US has had a significant shift since Barack Obama took office, moving away from the foreign

Analyze these changes in the context of the international system level, state level, and individual level.

On an international level, the globe has breathed a sigh of relief at the forgoing of the Bush doctrine.
The United States has become more willing to work with intergovernmental and nongovernmental
organizations. After the 9/11 attacks, the Bush Administration created the Homeland Security Council.
Obama combined Homeland Security and the National Security Council into a single entity called the
National Security Staff. However, that does not mean that they have completely abandoned all former
policies or that the United States will not unilaterally take action when given a chance. President
Obama himself stated, I will not hesitate to use force, unilaterally if necessary, to protect the American
people of our vital interests whenever we are attacked or imminently threatened.
State wise, American citizens have rarely been concerned with foreign affairs of its own government.
The number one dissatisfaction is the seemingly never ending wars within the regions of the Middle
East that have begun since the Bush administration. Yet, because of the heightened sense of paranoia
still lingering from 9/11, citizens show a definite concern for how efficiently the intelligence
community of the United States government works. The fusing of

Treatment Of Phonological Disability Using The Method Of...
Weiner, F. (1981). Treatment of phonological disability using the method of meaningful contrast: Two
case studies. Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 46, 97 103. Purpose: A minimal contrast
method to teaching phonological oppositions is a conceptual, rather than motoric, strategy to suppress
phonological processes. This method was assessed for effectiveness in reducing the frequency of
process use and generalization of treatment effect. Method: Two unintelligible 4 year old children
were confronted with the miscommunication resulting from their misarticulation of a target word
produced as another meaningful word. Four minimal pairs were trained for each targeted process:
deletion of final consonants, stopping, and word initial fronting. Twenty four generalization probes of
non treatment words were assessed for each targeted process. Results: Minimal pairs treatment
procedure was effective in decreasing process use over a short period of time. Several sound
production errors improved concomitantly. Subject A improved more rapidly than subject B.
Generalization to probe words occurred gradually. Clinical Implications: Minimal contrast treatment is
effective and efficient for treating children with phonological disability. Avoiding listener confusion is
motivating for suppressing process use. Word Count: 147 Gierut, J. A. (1990). Differential learning of

Essay on Explaining Political Philosophy
Explaining Political Philosophy
Political philosophy, or political theory, as it is also known, is about human condition, or, what
humans are like. There are roughly four main kinds of political philosophy around today
Libertarianism, Socialism, Liberalism and Communitarianism. Political theory is an attempt to
understand people, what we are like as individuals, what society and the state are like, and how we as
humans, the state and society all interact with one and other.
A social contract theory is the method of justifying political principles or arrangements by appeal to

Hobbes, a seventeenth century English philosopher, is generally regarded as the first modern political
philosopher; he is famous for his early and elaborate development of what has come to be known as
social contract theory . He is infamous for having used the social contract method to arrive at the
astonishing conclusion that we ought to submit to the authority of an absolute, undivided and
unlimited, sovereign power. He conceived of politics as science. In his theory of ballistics (guns and
missiles) objects moved at random, and were likely to collide with one and other. Hobbes viewed
society in much the same way; we all as individuals are more or less equal, we seek pleasure and
avoid pain. This will undoubtedly lead to competition between individuals. Because of this Hobbes
characterizes the state of nature as a state of war, where the life of the individual according to him
would be solitary, poore, nasty, brutish and short . This Hobbesian state of nature is so horrible that
individuals would want to avoid it at all costs. We therefore need a state that has laws that will protect
us from each other; Hobbes calls this the absolutist state . To avoid the horrible prospect

But one aspect of Nigeria has proven itself to be rich, transformative, and long lasting: literature.
Nigeria has produced rich literature that shows the conflict between tradition and western influence as

balance of the two.
A brief look into the history of Nigeria would be beneficial before considering the literary culture and
history of the country. Nigeria contains the greatest amount of historical cultures and empires than any

Both sides are strongly debated and have to be discussed carefully before giving an opinion.
Some people argue that celebrating their special events is very crucial for several reasons. Firstly ,
happy moments have to be memorized to give us hope in hard days. For example, birthday parties can

The Woman Card Was Written By Jill Lepore 27 Essay
The woman card was written by Jill Lepore 27 june 2016, and I have found several of her articles

without it, our country would not be where it is today. I thought that Hillary was going to be the first

The Role Of Cognitive Dissonance In Society
In such a vast world of creation choices and opposites the topic of cognitive dissonance is all but
inevitable. From its pure form and early research too its expanded and evolved form in present day it
has always been prevalent. In this paper i plan on evaluating this mindset and finding not only ways to
solve this problem but its importance in society since its discovery.
Cognitive dissonance is the concept of two opposed ideas that cause either a change in one s life
beliefs or morals. This refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. This
produces a feeling of discomfort leading to a change in one of the attitudes beliefs or actions to reduce
the discomfort and restore balance. For example, when people smoke (behavior) and they know that
smoking causes cancer (cognition), they are in a state of cognitive dissonance. This concept of
cognitive dissonance can expand to a much deeper sense. From people s everyday habits and changes

Concentration Camps Of The Second Anglo-Boer War
One of many forms of oppression the British practiced during the Second Anglo Boer War was the use
of concentration camps. Both blacks and whites were placed in the camps, and were required to
perform unpaid labor. However, the black and white camps were segregated, and the treatment of the
inmates in the black concentration camps was vastly different from the white camps. Less rations were
given, and less maintenance was performed on the camps, leading to starvation and poor living
conditions. Even after the war, when the white concentration camps had been transferred to civilian
control, the black concentration camps still remained under military command (Pretorius). Though
many Boers and British believed the war to be a white man s war , blacks continued to be segregated
and oppressed in order to profit off of their labor and gain advantage in battle. Many blacks fought on
the side of the British, believing they would receive education and more economic opportunities with
a victory by England ( Role ). Regardless of what side the natives took, the eventual outcomes of the
war still prevented them from reaching true equality with the soldiers they fought with at the turn of
the twentieth century. Subtle rules and regulations were implemented as a treaty between the English
and Boers prevented blacks from ever escaping the European induced living conditions. The

One day, the fan base can think you are the best player in your league, then the next they re calling for your head and sending you on a bus right out of town. I chose to find out what his early life was like, how God used him and what i can learn from him. Nicky Cruz (full name San Nicholas de le Cruz, meaning Saint Nicholas of the holy cross) was born on the 6th of december, 1938, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the 8th of 18 children. Nicky s parents were both sorcerors, and had a huge reputation and were greatly respected. They specialised in contacting the dead , healing people, lifting curses and fortune telling. His mother would allow demons to enter her mind to find out what was wrong with people. His fathers name was Galo Cruz, known widely as El Taumaturgo (the charmer). He was raised on the Peurto Rican island of Vieques, and had previously been married and had 3 other children. Galo was very strict, and whenever Nicky and his brothers did anything wrong, they would be frightened that their father would find out and punish them. He turned entirely to white magic after someone he was payed to curse became violently ill. Nicky became deathly ill at 2 months of age and his father cured him with witchcraft and sacrificing a black hen. Nicky was the black sheep of the family. His school teachers were scared of him, but adored his brothers. He was severely abused physically, mentally and verbally by his parents, particularly his mother, who often told him she hated him and cursed by calling him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Compare Sigmund Freud And Alfred Adler Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler are well known and respected men in the world of psychology. Both their theories involved the study of the human mind. Freud believed that much of the human instinct was sexually based and that many problems they suffered were due to this instinct. Freud concluded that his patients memories reached back to childhood and that many of the repressed experiences they recalled concerned sexual issues. Adler believed there was more to the individual but also knew that biology had an influence. He also believed that one s birth order and socially affected the development of the human personality. Sigmund Freud is known as the father or the founder of psychoanalysis because he concluded that psychological problems goes back to sexual issues. Freud was influenced by the works of psychologists such as Charles Darwin and Ernst Brucke, but Freud s teacher Jean Martin Charcot, was the one that influenced him the most. Charcot influenced Freud because Charcot used a form of hypnosis. Freud overheard Charcot talking about how he used this method on one patient and that that patient had experienced hysterical symptoms. Charcot is only one of the many circumstances that helped create his belief that there was a relationship that connected neurosis and unresolved sexual issues. The procedure by which judges follow decisions of previous cases is regarded as the doctrine of judicial precedent. This doctrine, is based on the Latin principle of stare decisis, stand by what has already being decided , stating that previously decided cases of higher courts generate a binding precedent over lower courts. The obiter dicta, things said by the way , constitutes the other part of a judgement, is mainly based on questions of fact and therefore do not create a binding but a persuasive precedent, which judges can refer to but are not required to do so. The case of R V Howe Bannister stated that duress is not an available defence in murder. The obiter dicta of this case was followed in R V Gotts (1992) 2 AC 412 , which held that such defence was equally not available for the offence of attempted murder . Case law is based on authoritative premises that leaded to the creation of a court structure founded in hierarchical principles. Therefore, the feature that determines the judicial practice of the doctrine of precedence is the authoritarian nature of the court hierarchy , principle that established that higher courts on the system have more authority than the inferior courts, being self imposing and should be considered as commanding over lower courts, as for it provides a better interpretation and understanding of the law. Once a young adult leaves high school they have a choice to either go to college or to go into the workforce. When deciding which path they will take, they must look at both the benefits and disadvantages. The advantage to going straight into the workforce is being able to immediately start their profession of choice and do not have to pay off expensive college loans. The disadvantage to going straight into the workforce is the fact that in today s job market, there are not many high paying jobs that do not require a degree. However, the benefit of going to college is that careers that require a college degree are often high paying and come with worker s benefits. College affords the student to develop and master academic and social skills. Companies and employers are not willing to invest time and money into prospects without those skills or a formal education. The disadvantage to going to college is brought upon because college tuition has doubled in the past ten years, which makes college unaffordable without being overwhelmed by student loans for the rest of one s life (Graff 179). The differences between these two paths make the decision to go to college one of the most influential decisions of an individual s entire life. The year of 2015 was very significant for certain individuals, but it was a year that affected all Americans in some way or another. This was the year that Gay marriage became legal in all fifty states. Prior to this monumental action by the Supreme Court, there was not a wide acceptance of gay marriage within certain parts of America. Since then, not only have people been more accepting towards gay marriage, but people are taking it a step further and examining gay rights as a whole. This includes rights such as parental rights. The New York Times covered a story in which a gay couple adopted a baby with intensions to raise him together. After breaking up, the biological mother attempted to deny the other mother the right to raise their son. The Supreme Court ruled that it would be inconsistent to deny a gay couple the same rights as a straight couple in regards to parental care. In the recent history of the United States, the historical particularism suggests it would have been thought nearly impossible for a gay couple to be allowed to legally marry each other let alone have and raise a family. The ideology of communities within the United States shifted from absolutely not allowing gay right to anyone, to giving them the same rights as straight people. The reconfiguration of this idea stems from the change in social and cultural constructionism. Symbols are constantly evolving and representing a new meaning which is how social change happens. Early History of the Pipe Organ Early History of the Pipe Organ The king of instruments has a long history, one which can arguably be traced to the concept of a collection of fixed pitched pipes blown by a single player (such as the panpipes) (Randel 583). The first examples of pipe organs with the basic features of today can be traced to the third century B.C.E. in the Greco Roman arena; it is said to have been invented by Ktesibios of Alexander and contained a mechanism to supply air under pressure, a wind chest to store and distribute it, keys and valves to admit wind to the pipes, and one or more graded sets of fixed pitch pipes. There was also the mixture stop, which originated (we think) in the twelfth century when one or two pipes were added to a key, usually tuned to a fifth and octave or third and tenth; it is also speculated that this practice helped spark harmony in music composition. (Hopkins Rimbault 36 8) During this time the pedal began receiving its own set of stops separate from those of the other manuals. At this point in the organ s history, development was fairly uniform throughout Europe due mainly to the unrestricted travel of organ builders and musicians whose input would influence foreign builders. The uniformity of the Catholic church also helped perpetuate the use of similar organs throughout Europe. • 27. Women s Gender And Gender Roles In terms of the heterosexual majority, respectability applied deeply to women and their gender roles as wives, because it was the way to distinguish between good and oversexed women (Kushner 9/25/15). The characteristics of women consisted of being pious, pure and religious, as they were the moral superiors to men (Kushner, 9/25/15). This moral superiority linked to the idea that Cott presents of female passionlessness, which was the result of subsequent lack of sexual aggressiveness (Cott 1987: 220). Passionlessness however was not simply a gendered characteristic it played a vital sexual as the controlling factor over hyper sexual husbands (Cott 1978: 235). The very structure of Victorian marriages relied on women s passionlessness because it supported women s demure and respectable nature in society, while also keeping men under control and containing sexuality to the home (Kushner, 9/25/15). The concept of respectability not only shaped how women and men acted in both sexual and non sexual ways but outlined the ways proper marriages ought to function. • 31. Effects Of Classical Conditioning In A Bite Of China Introduction The psychology theory seems to be professional, and it is hard to use in daily lives in many common people s views. However, some principles are used widely in TV shows or movies. For example, classical conditioning can make people to perform a specific behavior after several times training . In the essay, the author will introduce a TV show called A Bite of China and discuss how the TV show use classical conditioning. Background information Classical Conditioning Classical Conditioning was founded by a Russian physiologist, Ivan P. Pavlov, in the early 1900s. At first, He assumed that animals have automatic connections called unconditioned reflexes, which is a reflection between a fixed stimulus and response such as the food and secreting digestive juices. He speculated that the stimulus can be transferred from one to another. After that, Pavlov did the experiments and get the conclusion. In the process, he gave a dog food and the dog salivated. The connection between the food and the salivation was automatic requiring no training. The food was called unconditioned stimulus (UCS) and the salivation was called unconditioned response (UCR). The UCS is an event that automatically elicits an UCR. In other words, the UCR is the action that the UCS elicits. Next, Pavlov introduced a new stimulus, such as a metronome. At the beginning, the dogs heard the metronome but did not salivate. In this period, the metronome was a neutral stimulus (NS) about salivation. After ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 46, 97 103. Purpose: A minimal contrast method to teaching phonological oppositions is a conceptual, rather than motoric, strategy to suppress phonological processes. This method was assessed for effectiveness in reducing the frequency of process use and generalization of treatment effect. Method: Two unintelligible 4 year old children were confronted with the miscommunication resulting from their misarticulation of a target word produced as another meaningful word. Four minimal pairs were trained for each targeted process: deletion of final consonants, stopping, and word initial fronting. Twenty four generalization probes of non treatment words were assessed for each targeted process. Results: Minimal pairs treatment procedure was effective in decreasing process use over a short period of time. Several sound production errors improved concomitantly. Subject A improved more rapidly than subject B. Generalization to probe words occurred gradually. Clinical Implications: Minimal contrast treatment is effective and efficient for treating children with phonological disability. Avoiding listener confusion is motivating for suppressing process use. He is infamous for having used the social contract method to arrive at the astonishing conclusion that we ought to submit to the authority of an absolute, undivided and unlimited, sovereign power. He conceived of politics as science. In his theory of ballistics (guns and missiles) objects moved at random, and were likely to collide with one and other. Hobbes viewed society in much the same way; we all as individuals are more or less equal, we seek pleasure and avoid pain. This will undoubtedly lead to competition between individuals. Because of this Hobbes characterizes the state of nature as a state of war, where the life of the individual according to him would be solitary, poore, nasty, brutish and short . Both blacks and whites were placed in the camps, and were required to perform unpaid labor. However, the black and white camps were segregated, and the treatment of the inmates in the black concentration camps was vastly different from the white camps. Less rations were given, and less maintenance was performed on the camps, leading to starvation and poor living conditions. Even after the war, when the white concentration camps had been transferred to civilian control, the black concentration camps still remained under military command (Pretorius). Though many Boers and British believed the war to be a white man s war , blacks continued to be segregated and oppressed in order to profit off of their labor and gain advantage in battle. Many blacks fought on the side of the British, believing they would receive education and more economic opportunities with a victory by England ( Role ). Regardless of what side the natives took, the eventual outcomes of the war still prevented them from reaching true equality with the soldiers they fought with at the turn of the twentieth century.
