The Importance Of Transformational Leadership
A leader is an important aspect to have in nursing. Many times a manager and a leader are used
interchangeably but in fact there is a big difference between a manager and a leader. A manager
has an allocated position and has power over decisions as well as having specific responsibilities
to carry out. A leader might not have official power but the capability to inspire others and anyone
can display leadershipskills. A nursemanager can be more effective if they have well rounded
leadership qualities which include motivation, accepting input from others, commitment to
excellence, passion about their work, clear vision, trustworthiness, respectfulness, accessibility,
empathy, commitment to coaching and developing their staff. Both managers... Show more content

Positive inspiration has a progressive effect on staff nurses by uplifting the environment. This
greatly effects job satisfaction. Creating such a team is a very important nurse leader task that can
drastically impact staff self esteem, efficiency and staff preservation as well as improve patient
care, quality and safety. Clinical nurses and unit managers should foster a team approach that
encourages shared governance, ownership of practice, and the expression of ideas and opinions in
unit councils and committees (Linnen and Rowley, 2014). Nursing must have involvement and
leadership from the staff. Over time, lack of engagement from the team ends in decreased quality
of care and staff turnover. More emphasis should be seen on empowerment and work atmosphere
suggestions. This greatly influences staff retention. No team can deliver the best possible care for
patients when morale is low, nurses are burned out, and their voices and concerns are largely being
ignored (Linnen and Rowley,

Value of Popular Culture
Function of Popular Culture Although many people believe that popular culture is negatively
effecting our and our children s lives, because it is saturated with meaningless information and
dumbing us down to drones which sit in front of televisions or computers, it is actually a very
important aspect of our lives which allows our society to function more smoothly and easily.
Before we get into this we should first define popular culture. Popular is defined as of, pertaining
to, or consisting of the common people, or the people as a whole as distinguished from any
particular class; constituted or carried on by the people. Cultureis defined as the totality of socially
transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This demand then allows the company to think of new outside the box ideas such as the Iphone
which was recently released and had a lot of buzz around it. Another extremely important
example of this is the production of the World Wide Web which is largely driven by one of the
most financially successful areas of popular culture pornography. Now the internet is used for
millions of different things and has successfully given people new ways to think about the world
and access to information about what is cool in other countries that was not easily attainable
before the creation of the internet.Another important function of popular culture is that can be a
driving force behind social change. Harriet Beecher Stowe s publication of Uncle Tom s Cabin
(1852) prepared America for massive organization of its racial structure, and is credited as at least
a partial cause of the Civil War. This book had an extremely influential impact on what people
thought about African Americans, especially women, because it showed them that they go through
the same difficulties and hardships that white women go through. A more recent example of this
would be the movie Scarface which was one of the boldest, most potent, raw and violently brutal
gangster crime films ever made. This movie played a hugely significant role

All I Ever Wanted, By Greg Alan Isakov
If the chaotic hustle of New York City sets the pace for a typical episode of girls, the slow and
simple beach in Montauk certainly changes that. The change of pace, enhanced by a winning
soundtrack and strong acting jobs, makes All I Ever Wanted, an intriguing and exciting season
premier.
The episode begins to the song Amsterdam by Greg Alan Isakov, the perfect hopeful and calming
song to set the tone for the episode to come. The main characters are reading, and reacting to,
Hannah s recently published article. After a long break from girls, I was excited to see where each
character was. The reactions were perfectly fitting and stared the episode on an intriguing note.

The two sat on the beach and discussed there out looks on life. The setting was beautiful, and
Hannah acknowledges this. The music, My Sweet Lord by George Harrison, sets the scene.
Hannah Horvath, who flashed her vagina to the principle of the school she worked just one
season ago, seemed to be acting like an adult women. God, I was so ready to hate this, said
Hannah to the surf instructor. Dunham does an amazing job playing Hannah as calm and collected,
perhaps the most collected we ve seen her in the past 5 seasons.
A season premier should give a preview of whats to come, it should be exciting, it should be
intriguing. The season 6 premier of Girls, the series final premier, managed to do all that in a
subtle way, very appropriate to the show. It does not end with a drastic cliffhanger or a surprising
revelation: it shows evidence of characters maturing.
Through the past five seasons of Girls we ve watched as every character made terrible design after
terrible decision, and the over arching theme was that each decision was born out of immaturity. If
loyal viewers of Girls deserve one thing in the final season for making it through this journey, its to
watch the characters grow up. At least a little

The Modeling and Aero-Elastic Analysis Performed in MSc...
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1Overview
The modelling and aero elastic analysis of a laminated hybrid composite plate with SMAs as an
actuator is performed within MSc Nastran Finite Element Software. The term aeroelasticity is the
interaction of inertial, aerodynamic and elastic forces. The interaction of at least two of these forces
produces various aeroelastic phenomena such as divergence, flutter, and control reversal, buffeting
and dynamic stability. However, for this paper is only concentrate on the flutter analysis and to
investigate the potential of SMAs for aeroelasticity improvement.
For acknowledgeable, a hybrid composite material is a combination of hybrid and composite . The
meaning of hybrid in hybrid composite material itself is the hybridization in macroscopic structure
in the metallographic scale. Researchers found that there are three new categories of hybridization
of materials, that is, hybrid materials. The categorizations of hybrid materials are structurally
hybridized materials, materials hybridized in chemical bond, and functionally hybridized materials.
The composite wings require more advanced treatment that must be based on a new methodology
which handles the modelling complexity arising mainly from the fibrous nature of anisotropic
composites. The most popular hybrid composite is carbon Kevlar hybrid composite and this is
because hybridization of carbon fibre reinforced composites with Kevlar fibre results in a
significant positive hybrid

Personal Worldview Essay Examples
My worldview
A) a framework of ideas and attitudes about the world ourselves and life (Craig Rusbuilt 2009)
Worldview can be defined as individuals or a group of people in the community live in the world of
different beliefs, cultures and religions that are needed to be fulfilled in order to overcome
challenges faced or they face in the real world. It also include how individuals understand the
world how does it functions or operate, they can also ask themselves so many questions others
can be based on life and others on religions or believes also based on a person as an individual
questions like: what is my purpose in life?, who am I in the eyes of the lord?, what do I want to
achieve in life in this case some of the questions have no appropriate answers they remain
unanswered so some of them a person can answer the according to what they think is right. When
coming to different beliefs I do believe that people in Western worldview have different believes
compared to African and Christian in this case each and every religion differs from one another

What Is The Decision To Increase The Federal Funds Rate
Article Analysis Just a few days ago, the Federal Reserve increased the federal funds rate from
1.25% to 1.5%. The federal funds rate is one method that the Federal Reserve uses to control
monetary policy. The other methods used by the Fed to control monetary policy are open market
operations, and the discount window. The federal funds rate is defined as the interest rate that
banks charge each other to lend reserve funds. The federal funds rate is usually than the discount
rate so that banks are more inclined to go to other banks first, rather than the Fed. During the
recession in 2008, the federal funds rate was near 0 in the hopes that banks would lend more, and
the economy would be kickstarted. However, as the effects of the... Show more content on

Another Mankiw principle that this touches upon is that society faces a short run tradeoff between
inflation and unemployment. Policymakers can intervene with this tradeoff, by using several
different tools and this is one example of that. The unemployment rate is currently at a 17 year
low, but the inflation rate is similarly low. By increasing the federal funds rate, the
unemployment rate will continue to remain low, while an increase in inflation can be expected.
Finally, the last Mankiw principle that the article relates to is that people respond to incentives.
Because of the increased federal funds rate, people may be willing to save more in the hopes that
interest rates will increase, and they will be paid more. At a lower federal funds rate, people may
be willing to spend more, because interest rates will not pay them as much. A concept which we
learned in class that this relates to is monetary policy. While fiscal policy is developed by Congress
to change the U.S. economy, monetary policy is used exclusively by the Federal Reserve. It
involves either increasing the money supply by buying treasury bonds, or lowering the reserve
requirement and discount rate. When the money supply needs to be decreased, the Fed does the
opposite of those actions. Another concept that this relates to is the federal funds market, which is
the market that allows banks that fall short of the reserve requirement to borrow reserves

Benefits Of Using Cds Used For Hedging Purposes
Banks are classified as users or non users of CDS based on a search of their annual reports for
information about the use of CDS. To search the reports, I have searched for key terms and
expressions that indicate the use of CDS such as CDS, credit default swap, and credit default
contract. Appendix (C) shows the complete list of the banks classified as CDS user or CDS non
user, and their market capitalization.
The CDS users represent 50% of the sample and the other half are nonuser. The selected sample

use by distinguishing between CDS use for hedging purposes and CDS use for trading purposes;

In 2002 the European Union agreed that from January 2005 international accounting standards
/international financial reporting standards (IASs/IFRSs) would apply for the consolidated
accounts of the EU listed companies (Barth, Landsman, and Lang, 2008). Starting from 2005, IAS
/IFRS adoption has been mandatory in all the member states of the European Union with the
ultimate goal of increasing transparency in financial reporting. This adoption of IAS/IFRS
therefore represents an extraordinary event for empirical research because evidence shows that the
mandatory adoption of IAS/IFRS in Europe results in better quality of financial reporting. In fact,
empirical studies provide some support to the notion that adopting IAS/IFRS improves the quality
of financial reporting and of public information (Palea, 2013).

Heroin And Other Opiate Abuse
The purpose of this paper is to assess the issues that arise from heroin and other opiate abuse, how
the US government is combating it, and what effects these policies have in Afghanistan, the world s
supplier of opium.
Heroin was invented in the 1895. ( Opium Throughout History ) It was a new concoction based on
morphine, similar to the then popular laudanum, and was initially meant to be used as a cheaper
medical substitute at the time. Heroin was never successfully brought into the medical fold, but
was popular as a recreational drug almost immediately. Opiates, in one form or another, have been
used for medical pain relief and recreationally since as early as 3400 BC. ( Opium throughout
History ) Throughout the history of opium, control, regulation, trade, and addiction have been
struggles for every society and civilization, starting with the Egyptians, hitting the Romans, the
Chinese, and the Portuguese on the way, and continues to be a struggle in every modern society in
the world. ( World Drug Report 2010 )
Throughout history the popularity of heroin has waxed and waned. Sometimes heroin was
practically a non issue, other times, heroin has been one of the biggest struggles a society has
faced. America today struggles with heroin like no other time in its history, in part because of the
effects of addiction at home, and in part because of the significant profits it allows its handlers both
at home and overseas.

What I Have Learned From Watching Blood Diamond And Babel
All around the world, people go on with their daily lives focusing on what is relevant to them at
that given moment. Very rarely do we stop and think about how our actions affect someone in
another part of the world, and even more rarely do we care. Every once in a while we donate, send
our prayers over Facebook, or rally against unjust treatment and terrorism. However, what I have
learned from watching Blood Diamondand Babel is that more often than not, we unknowingly
contribute to the very instances we seek to fight against. Every action we do, especially in affluent
countries, has a global affect. In the movies, the intertwined story lines of seemingly separated
characters impressively demonstrates themes of globalizationsuch as the effect of war and affluence,
the interconnections of countries and their habitants, and cultural differences that can lead to
violence and shock. The effects that shadow networks and war have on the world deems them
astonishingly global. The most obvious case of this is in the movie Blood Diamond. The movie
takes place during the war between the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) and the government in
Sierra Leone, West Africa. The plot follows Danny Archer, a diamond smuggler for the powerful
Van De Kaap Diamond Company as he tries to find a rare diamond. However, the most effective
and global part of the movie is how it demonstrates the shadows that run the economy. Archer
describes for a journalist, Maddie, how the system of the shadows

Iago Is The Protagonist In Othello
William Shakespeare s Othello is a remarkable tale of trust, deceitfulness, lust and the most
destructive of human emotions: vengeance and hatred. Iago better known as Othello s antagonist
embodies vengeance and hatred to move an agenda to squash all who oppose Iago s plans. As
defined by Merrium Webster the definition of a protagonist is a principal character in a literary
work or a leading actor, character, or participant in a literary work. Othelloby Shakespeare is a play
about Othello an example of a tragic hero with all figures centered around Othello as the

As a masterful leading machiavellian character Iago exploits the flaw all characters poses in
Othello which is faith versus doubt in others. A powerful role to mold an entire play behind the
goal of a singular entity under the eyes of a scholar qualifies as a protagonist( Hull). Iago breaks
the boundaries that define antagonist or protagonist by being complex enough and having
enough lines that place him on par if not above Othello (West 42 ). The main flaw in the
protagonist argument is how Iago is a static character without any clear transformation. Evidence
from his lack of change exist in act one and to the final act is continuously lying and trying to
create chaos. Antagonist or protagonist Iago s actions qualify as morally wrong when usually a
protagonist that drives the plot is working for good; however, by definition a protagonist is not
inertly of good moral code. ( Hull) Iago has an interesting set of flaws and advantages showing
characteristics of a psychopath. Without flaws Iago would lose his humane characteristics and
potentially lose the audiences interest ( West 13). Iago has no positive moral compass and an
unexplained desire to destroy friend or foe even after the fact that Othello murders Desdemona
qualifies the character as psychotic. Iago even recognizes his planning of evil actions to ruin
Othello as simply a game Let us be conjunctive against him. If thou canst cuckold him, thou dost
thyself a pleasure, me a sport. (Act 1 Scene

The two characters, the short story Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway is centred

passage It s really an awfully simple operation, Jig, the man said. It s not really an operation at

Jig also displays a subtle defiance to the man, which proves that there may be more problems than
the story depicts. For example I ve never seen one, the man drank his beer. No, you wouldn t have.
My sympathy with Jig is strongly cemented by the sentence I feel fine, she said. There s nothing

I still struggle to form my body the best it can be.
Food was the main factor to why I judged my body. I love food, but I somehow it became my
worst enemy. Before I paid any attention to my body I would eat a bunch. I m talking about chips,
cupcakes, pizza, popcorn and other delicious foods. But of course, eating causes you to gain weight.
So I started to watch what I ate, and limit how much I consumed. At that point I wasn t enjoying
the food as much as I did before. While eating anything, in the back of my mind, I would start
thinking of how many calories the food has and I shouldn t be eating this . Heck, I would eat

Causes of Inflation and Deflation

DEFLATION, AND BY COMPARING THEIR ECONOMIC EFFECTS CONSIDER HOW BOTH
CAN AFFECT THE CORPORATE SECTOR.
The essay will describe causes of inflation and deflation and explain how they can affect the
corporate sector.
1. INTRODUCTION DEFINITION OF INFLATIONAND DEFLATION
Inflation is a process in which the price level is rising and money is losing value. (Parkin, Powell,
Matthews p654)
Inflation tends to rise when at the current price level, demand for goods and services in the
economy are greater than economy s ability to produce goods and services.

As a respond to that workers demand pay increase and with higher cost business need to increase
its prices again В–that is called cost push inflation spiral.
Cost push inflation usually leads to a slower growth of company profits which can then feed
through into business investment decisions.
An increase in output prices, such as rise in wage rates or the cost of raw materials, increases firm
s costs. With higher costs, firms are less able to make profit. Some firms exit the market and, as a
result, aggregate supply is less and shifts to the left. The macroeconomic equilibrium changes, with
input prices push up inflation across the economy.
Cost push inflation usually leads to a slower growth of company profits which can then feed
through into business investment decisions.
THE ECONOMICS EFFECTS OF INFLATION AND DEFLATION
Inflation is costly when it is unanticipated because it redistributes income and wealth and creates
inefficiency in the economy.
(Parkin,Powell,Matthews p676)
There is widespread agreement that high and volatile inflation can be damaging both to individual
businesses and consumers and also to the economy as a whole.
However, economists disagree about the relative seriousness of inflation. The revision notes below
cover some of the main economic and social costs associated with persistent inflation in goods and

(Robert Duvall) of an unnamed corporation, to record the latter s wife, Ann (Cindy Williams),
and her lover, Mark (Frederic Forrest), while they converse in San Francisco s Union Square.
Harry tries to deliver tapes of the recordings to the Director as planned; however, his assistant
Martin Stett (Harrison Ford) attempts to intercept them, so Harry keeps the tapes. While reviewing
them, he hears a line that he missed before: He d kill us if he got the chance (The Conversation).
He is convinced that the Director will harm the couple. The next day, Harry attends a national...

This is a critical part of the argument that shows the beginning of Harry s obsession with
blaming himself for deaths while attempting to distance himself from the actions that caused
them. While technological and psychological aspects addressed by Denzin and Albrechtslund

each lacking the other. Denzin over simplifies the cause by focusing too narrowly on the effects
of technology and both critics ignore the importance of Harry s past. Combining these
arguments as well as analyzing critical elements of Harry s past will give us a better
understanding of Harry. I will discuss Harry s dream, the conversation at the office party, and the
effect of the Director s death on Harry s mental state to gain a more complete study of Harry s

Relationship Between Media And Relationships
Graeme Wright Emma Hudelson 11/15/17 FYS Media and Relationships Media has existed in
our lives for centuries. It is a continuously developing force that has taken over our world today.
In recent history, films were one of the most popular sources of media and highly influential on
the minds of many throughout the world. It gave people certain ideals and stereotypes of how
things should be. Today, film is not the only prominent media source, social media has made its
mark. Mark Zuckerberg s creation of Facebook was the first major type of social media when it
was released in 2004. Since then, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat have become the three most
prominent sources of social media that follow in facebook s footsteps. According to Statista ,
Humans consume over 12 hours of media each day. The 12 hours we spend on media is full of
possible love damaging influences. The view of real love has been altered in recent years due to
fake love. According to Chuck Klosterman, the media has affected the way that humans interpret
love in a negative light but, while this is the case, it s also imperative to show that people can
differentiate between what is fake and what is real. Social media is a common culprit of
permitting fake love. Millennials are the up and coming crop of people looking for love. Social
media plays a major role in the lives of these teens and young adults, which can negatively impact
their chances of finding real love. Facebook negatively influences

How I Formed My Leadership Philosophy

1.How I formed my leadership philosophy: throughout my career I have worked for many

to deliver their message; these leaders are what helped me create my personal leadership philosophy

2.Situational leadership, it s the term I use to describe the style of leadership I have developed
over my career. To me this means that each individual is motivated differently and each situation
may require a different approach to reach the required goal. My first Officer in Charge in the

Gifted Hands is an inspirational novel based around the life of Ben Carson, from his rugged
upbringing in inner city Detroit to his position as director of pediatric neurosurgery at John
Hopkins Hospital at age 33. The novel foregrounds Carson s struggle to defy all odds aided by his
iron will, tremendous faith, respect, meekness and an unconditional devotion to God.
Carson displayed great determination and dedication from a young age. He thrived to be ahead

Throughout the auto biography Carson demonstrates an extraordinary amount of trust and faith in
the Lord. A pristine example of Carson s faith is portrayed before a major chemistry final.
Although Carson was unprepared, he laid the situation before God and was able to miraculously
score well in the exam. Carson lived a Christ oriented life and the blessings were endless. His
faithfulness demonstrated the power in living in such a way.
Carson was no ordinary man. His intricate way of thinking was like no other. One of the most
obvious and well known achievement is his concept of incorporating lasers in neurosurgery to
nullify complexities faced whilst operating. He knew there was an easier way and took the initiative
to act upon his ideas. Comparing Carson s accomplishments and initial circumstances serves as
living proof that anyone can be an influential figure in our society.
Carson s radiant demeanor shone throughout the course of his life. His pleasant behavior and
respect for others produced a very likable individual. Although there were countless incidents where
Carson could bad mouth white folk, he never resorted to racial prejudice and whole heartedly
believed in equality amongst everyone.
The problem with many of the intellectually talented is the mentality they withhold which
automatically grants them bragging rights. Carson on the other hand was a silent achiever, very

Introduction
In our society, oil is one of the core requirements. Whether it is to drive from a point A to a point
B or to fly between distant countries, oil always had a fundamental impact on our civilization. Its
impact is felt, on a daily basis and under many aspects. Not a day goes by without hearing about
the Brent s changing undulation, on the markets in New York or London. Some have thought that
the desire to gain control of Iran s oil resources was the core of the CIA s intervention in that
country, in the 1950s. In recent years, it was considered, by left wing groups, that the war in Iraq
was based upon an attempt of foreign control over the Iraqi petroleum resources. Even though both

was instated to protect the interests of oil producers, it could be seen as an example of regional
integration. The OPEC is widely considered, throughout the world, as a cartel. This would be an
intellectual misconception. The concept of cartel would consider oligarchies limiting competition
and monopolies increasing prices. Oppositely, many international oil producers are not members
of the OPEC. These non members saw a fourfold increase in the oil prices, during the 1973 oil
embargo. In A history of the modern Middle East, William L. Cleveland and Martin Bunton stated
that the immediate objective of the OPEC was to utilize the collective bargaining power of its
member states to pressure the Western oil companies to increase oil prices. . However, the birth of
the OPEC did not occur, overnight. In 1947, the Venezuelan and Iranian delegations held talks in

Popular Support In Julius Caesar Essay
Popular support and the distribution of power are two intertwining concepts that are prominent in
Nicolo Machiavelli s 16th century treatise, The Prince, and Julius Caesar by William
Shakespeare, of the same era. While Machiavelli s treatise served to provide a practical guide to a
reigning prince and Shakespeare s play served to entertain an Elizabethan audience, both composers
examine different perspectives of popular support and the distribution of power.
The Prince similarly suggests that popular support is essential in achieving power, but prioritises
the importance of gaining support from the citizens over the support from nobles. Machiavelli
critically analyses the advantages and disadvantageous concerning monarchy and popular support ...

Caesar s power is distributed amongst characters including Antony, Brutus and Octavian, and as
such, his own individual power is weakened, giving Brutus and the conspirators the opportunity
to rebel against him. Brutus power is conveyed in Cassius speech in Act 1 Scene 2, where he
utilises rhetorical questions including, Why would that name [Caesar] be sounded more than
yours? and sarcasm by referring Caesar as Immortal , to undermine Caesar s authority as a ruler.
However, while Brutus and the conspirators successfully murder Caesar, Antony and Octavian
emerge as the victors at the Battle at Philippi, suggesting that ultimately Caesar s spirit and rule
lives in the noblemen who support him. The recurring supernatural imagery of Caesar s spirit in
both Brutus tent prior to the battle in Act 4 Scene 3 and on the battlefield conveyed by Brutus in
Act 5 Scene 5, suggests that Caesar s spirit not only metaphorically perpetuates but also literally
appears in front of Brutus. The fact that the play is named after him despite his death early in the
play and not after Brutus, further enhances the idea that the distribution of power from the leader to
his noblemen allows the leader s rule to continue beyond his

obstacles to become the best CEOs of all time.

Personal Publishing Is Broken, By Michael P. Taylor
Academic publishing is something that many people will experience at some point, either in
school or at their job, and some of whom are being paid to publish in academic journals. When
published in academic journals, to read the papers, those interested would need to buy an expensive
subscription and annually renew it. However, this is starting to take a toll on many universities and
researchers around the world because they do not have the past research that others performed to
base their future research on. Michael P. Taylor s Opinion: Academic Publishing

Taylor is a research associate in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol. To
make an impact in the scientific community, a scientist must publish their research in academic
journals, specifically journals for certain areas of science. Taylor has published many papers about
the structure of dinosaurs bodies and the evolution of dinosaurs in both open access journals and
academic journals ( Michael P Taylor ). This shows that Taylor himself had to experience the
process of publishing papers, both in academic journals and open access journals, and going
through other academic journals to create ideas for new scientific discoveries. Therefore, he
understands both the research side and the side of the ordinary citizens who want to read scientific
papers. This impacts the audience by making them understand that Taylor is a credible person to be
writing an article on this topic, strengthening his argument.
Additionally, Taylor shows that he is a credible source for the discussion of open access publishing
through being knowledgeable about the topic by using statistics and doing his own research to
strengthen his argument. Taylor begins his article by explaining that the money that comes from
the taxations of the taxpayers goes to the government to be reallocated into the government funded
research. Then, the researchers release their information by publishing it in academic journals,
using the government s money. Next, by defining open

The Great Hammerhead Shark Essay
Strategy is not easily defined and furthermore the term is not exclusively related to just the business
world. We can confidently say strategy is key to survival, not only in business but also in the animal
kingdom. All animals under go a process of constant change in their physical appearance and in
their behaviour. These changes take place over millions of years and the species that survive, do so
because throughout their evolution they have perfected certain strategies that have enabled them to
develop more successfully in the environment they inhabit. One such case of this successful
development is the great hammerhead shark.

Great hammerheads primarily live in warm temperate and tropical coastal waters all around the
globe, far offshore and near shorelines in depths between 1 300 meters and have also been
observed entering estuarine water between latitudes 40 degrees N and 37 degrees S, down to a
depth of 80 metres. It positions itself as a top predator in its environment. It has no major
predators as it is widely feared in its habitat. Larger sharks will prey on juvenile and subadult great
hammerheads. (Wikipedia, 2014)
The great hammerheads migrate seasonally and are often seen in mass summer migrations moving
poleward seeking cooler water. They move back towards the equator over the winter months.
During the day they are often found near the shore in schools of up to one hundred. At night they
hunt further offshore, adults occur alone, in pairs or in small schools while young hammerheads
occur in larger schools. Great hammerheads are most common at seamounts, especially near the
Galapagos, Malpelo, Cocos and Revillagigedo Islands and within the Gulf of California.
Great hammerhead sharks appear to adapt well to their environments. One of their capabilities is
that they are opportunistic predators and are willing to eat anything they can get their hands on to
help them survive. Consequently, one concern would be the changes in temperature in the water.
The hammerhead does not seem to adapt well to the cooler waters.

properties of rapid sedation (Goodwin Jamison, 2007). Another medication that is used is IM
olanzapine to calm acute manic agitation (Goodwin Jamison, 2007). When the patient has
extreme hyperactivity, typical antipsychotics are used to relieve symtoms of dehydration and

Elenctic Examination Of Socrates
HW 6 In Plato s Republic, Socrates discusses the definition of justice with three different men. First,
he talks to Cephalus, followed by Polemarchus his son, and ending with Thrasymachus. Throughout
their conversations, Socrates subjects each individual to an elenctic examination. I will argue that
none of the three individuals were suitable candidates for an elenctic examination. To argue this,
one must first understand want an elenchus is. An elenchus is the method Socratesuses to further
analyze the definition of virtue. It starts out by Socrates suggesting a thesis to another individual,
that they both agreed on, followed by Socrates providing more premises that support the original
thesis. After providing supporting premises, Socrates and the other individual agree on the terms,
which end up contradicting the first thesis that they both agreed on. A Socratic elenchus is
typically used against an individual who has made a claim to be an expert in something. It is also
typically used against someone who has a pre existing point, in which case Socrates goes out of
his way to prove that the individual does not actually know what they claim to know. For example,
in Platos Euthyphro, Euthyphro made a claim that he could prosecute his father, because he was
an expert in all things pious and impious. Socrates followed up with these assumptions, and
provided several elenchi. One was that for all x, x is holy if and only if x is loved by all of the

The United Kingdom Of The European Union Essay
The decision by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union this last June will surely be a
pivotal moment in political history. It was both a rejection of the EU and in some ways the
broader global community. The result of this referendum seems to be striking for two particular
reasons. First, few observers of politics casual and professionals alike did not seriously anticipate
the success of the leave campaign. While only anecdotal, my colleagues and I were in the United
Kingdomabout a week in advance of the vote, and the consensus seemed to be that there would be a
remain victory albeit small. Late into the early morning hours of June 24th we realized that the
conventional wisdom was no longer conventional. Secondly, it was unexpected because of the
insidiousness of exclusionary and sometimes outright racist rhetoric that the Leave campaign
espoused. That is not to say that all those who supported the leave campaign are racists but there is
an undeniable motivation of xenophobia also behind some actors regarding the desire to turn
inwards.
Thus, I was motivated to study what exactly went wrong in this case. My mention of the consensus
around a narrow remain victory notwithstanding, there were evident signs during our time there of
a lack of a credible opposition. Particularly Labour, who mounted what can only be described as
lukewarm attempt to advocate for the EU. But this, I hypothesize, has more to do with the voters
than the party themselves. Labour did

Miller s Death of a Salesman and Williams Streetcar Named Desire both explore how the two main

the play goes on. Likewise, A Streetcar Named Desire portrays the ways in which Blanche, who
represents old values in the old world who believes women should be treated as ladies, attempts to

values and is a reflection of reality for Blanche in the way he treats her.

complicated to the public.
Occurring and then prevailing since the 1970s, the well known Plain English Movement (we mainly

problem. However, disputes still remain in the legal academia in regard to the actual efficiency of

behind the Plain English Movement is highly endorsed owing to its effort to enhance public
understanding of legal documents.

in history. Economic and social differences between the north and the south, fights between slave
and non slave proponents, the growth of the abolition movement, and the election of Abraham
Lincoln are all events having to do with slavery in the United States that led to the start of the Civil
War.
Economic and social differences between the north and the south was one of the events of
slavery leading up to the Civil War. When the cotton gin was invented in 1793, cotton became a
very profitable crop. Before the invention of the cotton gin, it would take one slave a day to
remove the seeds from two pounds of cotton. After the invention of the cotton gin, it could be used
to clean two pounds of cotton in just half an hour. With the invention of the cotton gin came an
increase in the number of plantations willing and wanting to move from other crops to cotton. The
south raised rice, sugar, and indigo, but cotton was its main crop. This move from other crops to
cotton would cause for a greater need for a larger amount of laborers, meaning a greater need for
slaves. The south, becoming a one crop economy, then became more dependent on cotton, thus
more dependent on slaves. The north, on the other hand, was less focused on crops and

Lawyer
Lawyer
The working field I want to link my future with is becoming a lawyer. Lawyer is a complicated
profession that has a lot of responsibilities to find evidence, to defend a person using them, to
argue someones rights, to give advices on the right ruling of the company. Even though lawyer
is one of the hardest and most risky professions, many people choose it as their future career
because of its prestige in the society and the amount of money it gives them. A lawyer is needed
not only in court, he is also needed in the personnel of the company, so he would tell the owner if
there is something they are doing or will do that is not aloud under the constitution of the country;

Many salaried lawyers working outside of government are employed as house counsel by public
utilities, banks, insurance companies, real estate agencies, manufacturing firms, and other business
firms and nonprofit organizations. Some also have part time independent practices, while others
work part time as lawyers and full time in another occupation. (http://www.allthingspolitical.org
/careers/lawyer_employment.htm)
The salary of lawyers varies depending on the field they work in (court, private firm). Lawyers that
opened their own firms often make less money than those who are partners in a law firm. The
biggest parts of life the salary depends on are: education, experience, level of responsibility and
degree of specializations. Lawyer salaries range from very low all the way up to several hundred
thousand dollars a year. Some lawyers can make up to $700,000 a year. As you can see above,
lawyer is a profession which is very required in now days, this is also a base for the salary of the
lawyer as also said above.
Applying into Law School, which are abundant in U.S., for example, is hard and expensive. A few
of good U.S. universities to go to are Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. These are the three universities I
will choose from if I actually decide to be a lawyer.
A lawyer needs to have four years of university in order to get a Bachelors degree as I said and

Oil And Gas Site Conservation Essay
WSES 4090 010Fall 2017 Oil and Gas Site Restoration By: Cameo Hagger Project: This project
involves the restoration of drilling and fracking sites in Texas. Texas currently has millions of
acers under lease for drilling of oil and gas wells. These leases typically include a 1 2 acre pad
site and an access road. In some areas hundreds of pad sites can be interconnected leaving the
environment scared and otherwise unusable to its original purpose examples are farming, pasture
land, or native landscape. The Texas Rail Road Commission (RRC) has the authority and
jurisdiction over the oil and gas industries operating in Texas. Currently, the RRC does have a
policy or reclamation process of abandoned surface mining operations... Show more content on

The process requires millions of gallons of water which is mixed with numerous chemicals
sometimes sand or other substances to prevent the cracks from closing. Fracking has been
blamed for numerous issues from methane gas releases, contaminating ground water, to causing
earth quakes. Liquids used in the process are stored on site in holding tanks or ponds and are
sometimes pumped back into the ground using waste wells. Fracking has become a common
practice to increase production on old and new drilling operations. Experts predicted 100,000
new jobs in Texas will be created in the Oil and Gas industries by 2018 bring the total to over
400,000. The rush to create these jobs and boost the economy has given rise to a reduction in
environmental regulations. Lobbing efforts by corporations at the state level have resulted in the
introduction bills and laws limiting the authority of local municipalities to regulate drilling
activities. Cities would be allowed to regulate surface activities such as noise, lights and traffic but
not drilling itself. Numerous bills have been introduced to the Texas Legislature to put limits on
local control. However, clashes are continuing to grow between cities and states across the nation
over oil and gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing. (3) Oil and gas companies and related
corporations have spent many years purchasing and leasing the mineral rights from private land
owners. This includes universities, cities, and

Qualities Of Modern Architecture
Modern architecture was produced during a period of transformation broadly categorized as
modernity. Modernity should not be equipped with the social, political, economic, and
technological transformation which began in the seventeenth century and continued well into the
twentieth century. Rather, it must be understood at the attitudes towards whose changes. Modernity
has been variously described as: a slow transformation and re evaluation of our relationship with the
past; a complete break from the past; a celebration of the chaos brought about by technological
changes in industry, transportation and communication; a loss of tradition and home; a project of
modernization and progress towards a better world; and a permanent state of transformation and
change. Modern architectureis defined as a term used to describe simplified and unornamented
building styles of the late 19th and 20th century, as a reaction towards the design of excesses to
the design excesses of the Victorian and Edwardian period. Qualities of this style consist of being
inspired by the machine aesthetics. In other words letting the materials and structuring help
determine the form and define the building according to its functional requirements and materials
to be used. Clean and simplified forms were preferred and all unnecessary details were banished.
An example of modern architecture can be explained and seen by Zaha Hadid s VitraFire Station
built in 1990. Constructed as a closure at the end of a

America Needs To Achieve True Freedom
Freedom is a state of mind and being in which a person has no barriers to hold them back. These
barriers can be financial, emotional, mental or physical. I think that if someone didn t have these
barriers, they don t necessarily achieve freedom, but they have the chance to. To go beyond this
though, freedom needs to first be achieved within. When someone is free in their heart and their
mind, I think they ve achieved true freedom. In short, freedom is the freedom from restraints and
the freedom to do what they please. To attain true freedom, I believe that a person should become
free from barriers first that sometimes don t seem like barriers. America is known as the land of
the free , but when it comes to whether or not Americans have true

Enterobacter Aerogenes Research Paper
Enterobacter aerogenes is a species of rod shaped gram negative bacterium in the family of
enterobacteriaceae. It is a facultative anaerobe, meaning that it can grow in either the presence of
oxygen or in the absence of oxygen. It also uses fermentation as the means of gathering energy that
protect it from reative oxygen species, and allowing it to live in oxygenated environments.
Enterobacter aerogenes is a nosocomial and pathogenic bacterium that cause opportunistic
infections. The majority are sensitive to most antibiotics designed for this bacteriaclass, but it can be
complicated due to their resistance mechanism such as lactamas, which quickly become resistant to
standard antibiotics during the treatment. Enterobacter aerogenes is found in human
gastrointestinal tract, and it does not generally cause disease in healthy individuals. It has been
found to live in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enterobacter aerogenes have been found to produce a greater amount of bioethanol due to a process
called metabolism (ScienceDirect). Many Enterobacter aerogenes have flagella, and thus motility,
that distinguish them from Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria (Kara, 2016). Traditional approaches for
treating Enterobacter infections involve single agent antimicrobial therapy such as an
aminoglycoside, a fluoroquinolone, and a cephalosporin. However, newer theories have adopted
combination therapy employing multiple antibiotics with different core structure. In some
Enterobacter aerogenes resistant to aminoglycoside, resistance has been associated with a bacterial
genetic element known as integron. Integrons contain genes that confer antibiotic resistance
capabilities and its incorporated into bacteria genomes via genetic recombination (Kara, 2016).
Finally, we have learned that Enterobacter aerogenes have some positive and negatives implications

London 1908, Machinery Hall
This image represents the entrance to Machinery Hall of the 1908 Franco British Exhibition in
London. The original is one in a series of 3.5 x 5.5 inch postcards, printed by Valentine Sons Ltd.
The Machinery Hall covered 125,000 square yards. In this image it looks very elaborate, garish,
and reminiscent of Gothic architecture. The flags seen on the top of the building are French and
British. There are decorations looking like lanterns around the perimeter of the building. Within the
context of the fair, the pavilion was vast yet not imposing.

In the Machinery Halls, heavy industry was represented by displays on mining, iron and steelwork,
armaments manufacture, shipbuilding, pumping and motive power machinery, electricity
generation, as well as textile and printing machinery. Many displayed objects were instruments of
war such as a gun carried on the backs of three dummy men. Warship firms displayed models of
their scouts, destroyers, armed cruisers and torpedo boats. War relics included an astrolabe of 1578,
the barge of the great Napoleon, the flat bottomed boats which the French used when they captured
Algiers, and some of the small cannons used on the gunwales of eighteenth century warships.
Numerous modern inventions were also featured. The steel and iron industry displayed flywheels,
and suction producers, while railway companies made a model of a Scenic Railway outside. The
place of honor in the French hall was taken by the great Pont Г Mousson blast furnace. The
London Electricity Companies demonstrated modern cooking with electric range and kettles, and
showed sewing machines.
One of the great luxuries in the building was a free rest room, in the middle of which was a
pleasant fountain. The Franco British Exhibition: illustrated review commented on this idea:
Remembering the general comfortless ness of the grounds, it was a stroke of real genius to put that
oasis of rest in the centre of the grim and dour Machinery Halls.
The exhibition lasted from May 14 to October 31, 1908. The

Why Soldiers Don T Talk Randall Jarrell Analysis
World War II was the worst war in history and impacted most countries in some way. This was a
war between the Axis Powers and Allied Powers. The Axis Powers consisted of Germany, Italy
and Japan while the Allied Powers was made up of Britain, Soviet Union, France and the United
States. World War II started in 1939 and ended in 1945. It was the bloodiest war and killed
approximately 70 million people. We were not only at war but United Stateswas going through the
Great Depression. The Great Depression was economical nightmare for Americans. Money
became very scarce and families were struggling to survive. The Serviceman s Readjustment Act

Sexism And The Star System In Architecture Analysis
Sexism and the star system in architecture In her article, Denise Scott Brown brings to light her
personal experience as being a female architect and the sexism that she had come across. Brown
describes how sexism is not outright, as she states that many young female architects do not
understand the need for the feminist movement as they had never experienced such sexism in
school. Rather, sexism appeared through the words of architecture critics, in meetings, and
architectural magazines. Despite her impactful personal statement in the frustrations she felt in a
genderdiscriminated occupation, the article lacked context. Denise Scott Brown described her
struggles with her lack of acknowledgement and the internal struggles she felt: her waning sense of
self worth and displeasure from her growing hostile personality. Also, she was extremely thorough
with her description of how architecture critics used the star system to attribute all collaborated
ideas to a single entity. Yet, she does not really mention how sexism is a larger cultural issue, as
she is too busy emphasizing the sexism she faced in the workforce. I believe that adding cultural
context would broaden the article by revealing the motivation behind sexist attitudes. For example,
with the critique by Hideki Shimizu... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question of What is History? is answered through philosophical questions. This led to many
tangents which could confuse readers and retract from the strength of the thesis. Furthermore, the
concept of history being based on facts almost seems to be refuted as the author states that facts are
not always concrete. An example of this is when the Carr mentions that articles are seen as a form
of fact, however, that documents only tell what the author of the document believed had happened.
Such a rebuttal causes confusion on whether to trust historic facts, as all as they seem to be all

Herbal Medicine Vs. Herbal Medicines
A natural drug because it is derived from nature is beginning to emerge at a faster rate and is
known as the alternative medicine or herbal medicines. Botanical medicine or Herbalism is another
way of describing the strict use of plants or plant extracts that may be ingested or applied to the
skin to treat illness and assist the bodily functions (Herbalism). Pharmaceutical drugs are said to be
inevitable, but so are their symptoms, side effects and harmful substances used to produce them.
These days herbal medicineis marketed aggressively across the world, so it s a good time to take a
look at why this is, and what advantages herbal medicine can offer over prescription drugs. Herbal
remedies are gradually becoming more accepting and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So we automatically think, oh, they were not supposed to take these drugs or they abused the
substance, wrong, the patients are not the ones at fault and neither are the doctors, people are
following the directions, the bolded print on the back and the prescriptions given, but are still
dying. Sadly, this is occurring because doctors simply are unable to know how every single one
of our bodies reacts to a certain medicine causing different symptoms and side effects and some
unable to withhold the prescripted amount. This is exactly why people avoid pharmaceutical
drugs, they are dangerous, unpredictable, and at times fatal. Herbal medicines are a newer face to
medicine, but have already met the standards and exceeded the expectations of pharmaceutical
drugs because you are unable to overdose on a plant, and no synthesized chemicals are included
with these because it is 100% derived from nature and these medicines only turn symptom filled
and fatal when the scientists get their hands on them. Nature is our friend and so are herbal
remedies. Along with the synthesized chemicals used to produce these drugs they fail in the
category of availability as well. For one, these drugs need scientists, doctors, physicians,
pharmacists and many other highly educated individuals to make just one pill. Places that suffer

Ethical Implications Of Disclosure
Ethical Implications of Disclosure and Nondisclosure
Being an advanced practice nurse is a huge responsibility. The profession itself is advancing and
with the Affordable Care Act moral, ethical and legal considerations of providing care as an
advanced practice nurse have increased exponentially. Ethical standards for nurse practitioner are
defined in the American Nurses Code of Ethics. Ethical standard are based largely on the
individual nurse beliefs. Because ethics are not a clear cut science, the handling certain situations
are defined by state laws. The purpose if this paper is to consider ethical and legal implications of
revealing a prescribing mistake to a patient who has no knowledge that a mistake exist.
Ethical Implications
Nurses have a responsibility to understand and operate with the confines of the law concerning
medications. However the responsibility does not end at the law there are also ethical, moral if you
will, implications. Writing prescription for patients is an integral part of providing care for patients
in today s society (Arcangelo Peterson, 2013). Ethical concerns with prescription writing include
understanding medications and ensuring that individual prescribers take responsibility for the care
they each provide. The American Nurses Association Code of Ethics Provision 3 (2015), indicates
that the nurse will promote, advocates, and protect the rights, health, and safety of the patient. This
means that when a nurse realizes a mistake has

Forensic Science Research Paper
Forensic Science Forensic Science is applying science to criminal law. Forensics uses science to
support or shoot down theories made about a crime or the crime scene. Forensic science has many
branches, such as forensic toxicology, forensic psychology, forensic entomology and more. There
are so many fields to go into, and they are all necessary for the criminal justice process using
forensic science. While forensics is a very broad field, all origins of it come from basic scientific
study, such as general biology (What Is Forensics). Everyday aspects of this job will vary
depending on what branch of forensic sciencethat you choose to go into. For example, a forensic
biologist, who studies DNA, body fluids, and hairs will not have the same everyday job as a
forensic entomologist, who studies bugs and insects and how they could show how long a body
has been dead because of how it has been decayed from the insects. Most forensic scientists, no
matter what branch you focus on, will work in a lab setting and must be good at analyzing
evidence, which includes having critical thinking skills. All forensic scientist will have to write lab

Current State Of New Zealand And The United States Of...
Over the last thirty years the economic rise of China has contributed to a worldwide shift in
power. Discussing the current state of New Zealand s relationship with both China and the United
States of America (USA), this essay will outline likely future foreign policy choices. Authors such
as Mosher and Krauthammer see the rise of China as a threat to the West that must be contained, a
view which is not widely accepted. With reference to New Zealand s recent economic and strategic
success this essay will suggest that future foreign policymust work to deepen relations with both
countries. New Zealand must not choose between China nor the USA, instead a broad based
approach to trade and international relationsshould be maintained.
In 2008 New Zealand was the first of the Organisation for Economic Co operation and
Development countries to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China. As a result China has
overtaken the USA as our second largest trading partner, with exports increasing from NZ$2.3
billion in 2008 to NZ$6.7 billion in 2012. In 2010 New Zealand set the goal of doubling two way
trade with China by 2015, a goal which was achieved a full year earlier. Speaking to the New
Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) in 2010 John Key described New Zealand China
relations as unquestionably and unashamedly an economic relationship . Without pausing the New
Zealand and Chinese governments have been quick to capitalize on this recent economic success.

Apple (Apple. 2015).
Sales of the most recent iPhone 6s continue, but in certain situations have not been meeting
financial market expert projections. Investment firm Morgan Stanley implied the decline in sales
were due to higher prices in foreign markets due to fluctuations in currency values (CNET, 2016).

In early 2003, the dominant smartphone provider, Blackberry, was focused mostly on business with
its convergent device that included email, web browsing and text messaging (Zeigler, C. 2009). It

time.
The Apple iPhone released in 2007, was the first to feature an entirely functional web browser,

made use of a muti touch capacitive touchscreen, to generate an on screen keyboard. Since its

  • 2. The Importance Of Transformational Leadership A leader is an important aspect to have in nursing. Many times a manager and a leader are used interchangeably but in fact there is a big difference between a manager and a leader. A manager has an allocated position and has power over decisions as well as having specific responsibilities to carry out. A leader might not have official power but the capability to inspire others and anyone can display leadershipskills. A nursemanager can be more effective if they have well rounded leadership qualities which include motivation, accepting input from others, commitment to excellence, passion about their work, clear vision, trustworthiness, respectfulness, accessibility, empathy, commitment to coaching and developing their staff. Both managers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Positive inspiration has a progressive effect on staff nurses by uplifting the environment. This greatly effects job satisfaction. Creating such a team is a very important nurse leader task that can drastically impact staff self esteem, efficiency and staff preservation as well as improve patient care, quality and safety. Clinical nurses and unit managers should foster a team approach that encourages shared governance, ownership of practice, and the expression of ideas and opinions in unit councils and committees (Linnen and Rowley, 2014). Nursing must have involvement and leadership from the staff. Over time, lack of engagement from the team ends in decreased quality of care and staff turnover. More emphasis should be seen on empowerment and work atmosphere suggestions. This greatly influences staff retention. No team can deliver the best possible care for patients when morale is low, nurses are burned out, and their voices and concerns are largely being ignored (Linnen and Rowley, ... • 3. Value of Popular Culture Function of Popular Culture Although many people believe that popular culture is negatively effecting our and our children s lives, because it is saturated with meaningless information and dumbing us down to drones which sit in front of televisions or computers, it is actually a very important aspect of our lives which allows our society to function more smoothly and easily. Before we get into this we should first define popular culture. Popular is defined as of, pertaining to, or consisting of the common people, or the people as a whole as distinguished from any particular class; constituted or carried on by the people. Cultureis defined as the totality of socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This demand then allows the company to think of new outside the box ideas such as the Iphone which was recently released and had a lot of buzz around it. Another extremely important example of this is the production of the World Wide Web which is largely driven by one of the most financially successful areas of popular culture pornography. Now the internet is used for millions of different things and has successfully given people new ways to think about the world and access to information about what is cool in other countries that was not easily attainable before the creation of the internet.Another important function of popular culture is that can be a driving force behind social change. Harriet Beecher Stowe s publication of Uncle Tom s Cabin (1852) prepared America for massive organization of its racial structure, and is credited as at least a partial cause of the Civil War. This book had an extremely influential impact on what people thought about African Americans, especially women, because it showed them that they go through the same difficulties and hardships that white women go through. A more recent example of this would be the movie Scarface which was one of the boldest, most potent, raw and violently brutal gangster crime films ever made. This movie played a hugely significant role ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. All I Ever Wanted, By Greg Alan Isakov If the chaotic hustle of New York City sets the pace for a typical episode of girls, the slow and simple beach in Montauk certainly changes that. The change of pace, enhanced by a winning soundtrack and strong acting jobs, makes All I Ever Wanted, an intriguing and exciting season premier. The episode begins to the song Amsterdam by Greg Alan Isakov, the perfect hopeful and calming song to set the tone for the episode to come. The main characters are reading, and reacting to, Hannah s recently published article. After a long break from girls, I was excited to see where each character was. The reactions were perfectly fitting and stared the episode on an intriguing note. We briefly check in with other characters, then proceed to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two sat on the beach and discussed there out looks on life. The setting was beautiful, and Hannah acknowledges this. The music, My Sweet Lord by George Harrison, sets the scene. Hannah Horvath, who flashed her vagina to the principle of the school she worked just one season ago, seemed to be acting like an adult women. God, I was so ready to hate this, said Hannah to the surf instructor. Dunham does an amazing job playing Hannah as calm and collected, perhaps the most collected we ve seen her in the past 5 seasons. A season premier should give a preview of whats to come, it should be exciting, it should be intriguing. The season 6 premier of Girls, the series final premier, managed to do all that in a subtle way, very appropriate to the show. It does not end with a drastic cliffhanger or a surprising revelation: it shows evidence of characters maturing. Through the past five seasons of Girls we ve watched as every character made terrible design after terrible decision, and the over arching theme was that each decision was born out of immaturity. If loyal viewers of Girls deserve one thing in the final season for making it through this journey, its to watch the characters grow up. At least a little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Modeling and Aero-Elastic Analysis Performed in MSc... CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1Overview The modelling and aero elastic analysis of a laminated hybrid composite plate with SMAs as an actuator is performed within MSc Nastran Finite Element Software. The term aeroelasticity is the interaction of inertial, aerodynamic and elastic forces. The interaction of at least two of these forces produces various aeroelastic phenomena such as divergence, flutter, and control reversal, buffeting and dynamic stability. However, for this paper is only concentrate on the flutter analysis and to investigate the potential of SMAs for aeroelasticity improvement. For acknowledgeable, a hybrid composite material is a combination of hybrid and composite . The meaning of hybrid in hybrid composite material itself is the hybridization in macroscopic structure in the metallographic scale. Researchers found that there are three new categories of hybridization of materials, that is, hybrid materials. The categorizations of hybrid materials are structurally hybridized materials, materials hybridized in chemical bond, and functionally hybridized materials. The composite wings require more advanced treatment that must be based on a new methodology which handles the modelling complexity arising mainly from the fibrous nature of anisotropic composites. The most popular hybrid composite is carbon Kevlar hybrid composite and this is because hybridization of carbon fibre reinforced composites with Kevlar fibre results in a significant positive hybrid ... • 6. Personal Worldview Essay Examples My worldview A) a framework of ideas and attitudes about the world ourselves and life (Craig Rusbuilt 2009) Worldview can be defined as individuals or a group of people in the community live in the world of different beliefs, cultures and religions that are needed to be fulfilled in order to overcome challenges faced or they face in the real world. It also include how individuals understand the world how does it functions or operate, they can also ask themselves so many questions others can be based on life and others on religions or believes also based on a person as an individual questions like: what is my purpose in life?, who am I in the eyes of the lord?, what do I want to achieve in life in this case some of the questions have no appropriate answers they remain unanswered so some of them a person can answer the according to what they think is right. When coming to different beliefs I do believe that people in Western worldview have different believes compared to African and Christian in this case each and every religion differs from one another others belief that god don t exist while others belief that he do exist in this case worldview still remains a debatable I also believe that worldview can also be defined as an how people live their life related to ... • 7. What Is The Decision To Increase The Federal Funds Rate Article Analysis Just a few days ago, the Federal Reserve increased the federal funds rate from 1.25% to 1.5%. The federal funds rate is one method that the Federal Reserve uses to control monetary policy. The other methods used by the Fed to control monetary policy are open market operations, and the discount window. The federal funds rate is defined as the interest rate that banks charge each other to lend reserve funds. The federal funds rate is usually than the discount rate so that banks are more inclined to go to other banks first, rather than the Fed. During the recession in 2008, the federal funds rate was near 0 in the hopes that banks would lend more, and the economy would be kickstarted. However, as the effects of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another Mankiw principle that this touches upon is that society faces a short run tradeoff between inflation and unemployment. Policymakers can intervene with this tradeoff, by using several different tools and this is one example of that. The unemployment rate is currently at a 17 year low, but the inflation rate is similarly low. By increasing the federal funds rate, the unemployment rate will continue to remain low, while an increase in inflation can be expected. Finally, the last Mankiw principle that the article relates to is that people respond to incentives. Because of the increased federal funds rate, people may be willing to save more in the hopes that interest rates will increase, and they will be paid more. At a lower federal funds rate, people may be willing to spend more, because interest rates will not pay them as much. A concept which we learned in class that this relates to is monetary policy. While fiscal policy is developed by Congress to change the U.S. economy, monetary policy is used exclusively by the Federal Reserve. It involves either increasing the money supply by buying treasury bonds, or lowering the reserve requirement and discount rate. When the money supply needs to be decreased, the Fed does the opposite of those actions. Another concept that this relates to is the federal funds market, which is the market that allows banks that fall short of the reserve requirement to borrow reserves ... To search the reports, I have searched for key terms and expressions that indicate the use of CDS such as CDS, credit default swap, and credit default contract. Appendix (C) shows the complete list of the banks classified as CDS user or CDS non user, and their market capitalization. The CDS users represent 50% of the sample and the other half are nonuser. In 2002 the European Union agreed that from January 2005 international accounting standards /international financial reporting standards (IASs/IFRSs) would apply for the consolidated accounts of the EU listed companies (Barth, Landsman, and Lang, 2008). Starting from 2005, IAS /IFRS adoption has been mandatory in all the member states of the European Union with the ultimate goal of increasing transparency in financial reporting. This adoption of IAS/IFRS therefore represents an extraordinary event for empirical research because evidence shows that the mandatory adoption of IAS/IFRS in Europe results in better quality of financial reporting. In fact, empirical studies provide some support to the notion that adopting IAS/IFRS improves the quality of financial reporting and of public information (Palea, 2013). 3.1.4Data sources In this thesis, secondary data is used to answer the two research questions. The data have been collected from two main sources: bank s annual reports and Datastream. • 10. Heroin And Other Opiate Abuse The purpose of this paper is to assess the issues that arise from heroin and other opiate abuse, how the US government is combating it, and what effects these policies have in Afghanistan, the world s supplier of opium. Heroin was invented in the 1895. ( Opium Throughout History ) It was a new concoction based on morphine, similar to the then popular laudanum, and was initially meant to be used as a cheaper medical substitute at the time. Heroin was never successfully brought into the medical fold, but was popular as a recreational drug almost immediately. Opiates, in one form or another, have been used for medical pain relief and recreationally since as early as 3400 BC. ( Opium throughout History ) Throughout the history of opium, control, regulation, trade, and addiction have been struggles for every society and civilization, starting with the Egyptians, hitting the Romans, the Chinese, and the Portuguese on the way, and continues to be a struggle in every modern society in the world. ( World Drug Report 2010 ) Throughout history the popularity of heroin has waxed and waned. Sometimes heroin was practically a non issue, other times, heroin has been one of the biggest struggles a society has faced. America today struggles with heroin like no other time in its history, in part because of the effects of addiction at home, and in part because of the significant profits it allows its handlers both at home and overseas. • 11. What I Have Learned From Watching Blood Diamond And Babel All around the world, people go on with their daily lives focusing on what is relevant to them at that given moment. Very rarely do we stop and think about how our actions affect someone in another part of the world, and even more rarely do we care. Every once in a while we donate, send our prayers over Facebook, or rally against unjust treatment and terrorism. However, what I have learned from watching Blood Diamondand Babel is that more often than not, we unknowingly contribute to the very instances we seek to fight against. Every action we do, especially in affluent countries, has a global affect. In the movies, the intertwined story lines of seemingly separated characters impressively demonstrates themes of globalizationsuch as the effect of war and affluence, the interconnections of countries and their habitants, and cultural differences that can lead to violence and shock. The effects that shadow networks and war have on the world deems them astonishingly global. The most obvious case of this is in the movie Blood Diamond. The movie takes place during the war between the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) and the government in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The plot follows Danny Archer, a diamond smuggler for the powerful Van De Kaap Diamond Company as he tries to find a rare diamond. However, the most effective and global part of the movie is how it demonstrates the shadows that run the economy. Archer describes for a journalist, Maddie, how the system of the shadows ... Iago better known as Othello s antagonist embodies vengeance and hatred to move an agenda to squash all who oppose Iago s plans. As defined by Merrium Webster the definition of a protagonist is a principal character in a literary work or a leading actor, character, or participant in a literary work. As a masterful leading machiavellian character Iago exploits the flaw all characters poses in Othello which is faith versus doubt in others. A powerful role to mold an entire play behind the goal of a singular entity under the eyes of a scholar qualifies as a protagonist( Hull). Iago breaks the boundaries that define antagonist or protagonist by being complex enough and having enough lines that place him on par if not above Othello (West 42 ). The main flaw in the protagonist argument is how Iago is a static character without any clear transformation. Evidence from his lack of change exist in act one and to the final act is continuously lying and trying to create chaos. Antagonist or protagonist Iago s actions qualify as morally wrong when usually a protagonist that drives the plot is working for good; however, by definition a protagonist is not inertly of good moral code. ( Hull) Iago has an interesting set of flaws and advantages showing characteristics of a psychopath. Without flaws Iago would lose his humane characteristics and potentially lose the audiences interest ( West 13). Iago has no positive moral compass and an unexplained desire to destroy friend or foe even after the fact that Othello murders Desdemona qualifies the character as psychotic. Iago even recognizes his planning of evil actions to ruin Othello as simply a game Let us be conjunctive against him. If thou canst cuckold him, thou dost thyself a pleasure, me a sport. • 35. Elenctic Examination Of Socrates HW 6 In Plato s Republic, Socrates discusses the definition of justice with three different men. First, he talks to Cephalus, followed by Polemarchus his son, and ending with Thrasymachus. Throughout their conversations, Socrates subjects each individual to an elenctic examination. I will argue that none of the three individuals were suitable candidates for an elenctic examination. To argue this, one must first understand want an elenchus is. An elenchus is the method Socratesuses to further analyze the definition of virtue. It starts out by Socrates suggesting a thesis to another individual, that they both agreed on, followed by Socrates providing more premises that support the original thesis. After providing supporting premises, Socrates and the other individual agree on the terms, which end up contradicting the first thesis that they both agreed on. A Socratic elenchus is typically used against an individual who has made a claim to be an expert in something. It is also typically used against someone who has a pre existing point, in which case Socrates goes out of his way to prove that the individual does not actually know what they claim to know. For example, in Platos Euthyphro, Euthyphro made a claim that he could prosecute his father, because he was an expert in all things pious and impious. Socrates followed up with these assumptions, and provided several elenchi. One was that for all x, x is holy if and only if x is loved by all of the gods (Line ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The United Kingdom Of The European Union Essay The decision by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union this last June will surely be a pivotal moment in political history. It was both a rejection of the EU and in some ways the broader global community. The result of this referendum seems to be striking for two particular reasons. First, few observers of politics casual and professionals alike did not seriously anticipate the success of the leave campaign. While only anecdotal, my colleagues and I were in the United Kingdomabout a week in advance of the vote, and the consensus seemed to be that there would be a remain victory albeit small. Late into the early morning hours of June 24th we realized that the conventional wisdom was no longer conventional. Secondly, it was unexpected because of the insidiousness of exclusionary and sometimes outright racist rhetoric that the Leave campaign espoused. That is not to say that all those who supported the leave campaign are racists but there is an undeniable motivation of xenophobia also behind some actors regarding the desire to turn inwards. Thus, I was motivated to study what exactly went wrong in this case. My mention of the consensus around a narrow remain victory notwithstanding, there were evident signs during our time there of a lack of a credible opposition. Particularly Labour, who mounted what can only be described as lukewarm attempt to advocate for the EU. But this, I hypothesize, has more to do with the voters than the party themselves. • 41. The Events That Caused The Civil War The Events That Caused the Civil War One could argue that the true causes of the Civil War were states rights and taxations. Although this played a large part in the start of the Civil War, slavery was the ultimate factor that led to this event in history. Economic and social differences between the north and the south, fights between slave and non slave proponents, the growth of the abolition movement, and the election of Abraham Lincoln are all events having to do with slavery in the United States that led to the start of the Civil War. Economic and social differences between the north and the south was one of the events of slavery leading up to the Civil War. When the cotton gin was invented in 1793, cotton became a very profitable crop. Before the invention of the cotton gin, it would take one slave a day to remove the seeds from two pounds of cotton. After the invention of the cotton gin, it could be used to clean two pounds of cotton in just half an hour. With the invention of the cotton gin came an increase in the number of plantations willing and wanting to move from other crops to cotton. The south raised rice, sugar, and indigo, but cotton was its main crop. This move from other crops to cotton would cause for a greater need for a larger amount of laborers, meaning a greater need for slaves. The south, becoming a one crop economy, then became more dependent on cotton, thus more dependent on slaves. The north, on the other hand, was less focused on crops and ... Modernity should not be equipped with the social, political, economic, and technological transformation which began in the seventeenth century and continued well into the twentieth century. Modernity has been variously described as: a slow transformation and re evaluation of our relationship with the past; a complete break from the past; a celebration of the chaos brought about by technological changes in industry, transportation and communication; a loss of tradition and home; a project of modernization and progress towards a better world; and a permanent state of transformation and change.
