Double Consciousness and the Stranger Essay
Throughout history, Georg Simmel and W.E.B. Du Bois have had a significant influence on
important theories and ideas developed in the Social Sciences. Perhaps two of the most relevant
and well known concepts developed by both of these theorists are the concepts of double
consciousness and the stranger . In this paper I will be analyzing both of these pieces of work to
draw upon differences and similarities between the two. The similarities I will be elaborating on
are the usage of the paradoxical figure, which both Simmel and Du Bois discuss in their theories,
and the coexisting feeling of division from mainstream society. The difference between the two
theories that I will be exploring is the perception that mainstream society has of... Show more

He is fixed within a certain spatial circle or within a group whose boundaries are analogous to
spatial boundaries but his position within it is fundamentally affected by the fact that he does
not belong in it initially and that he brings qualities into it that are not, and cannot be,
indigenous to it (Simmel, 143). Simmel defines the stranger as one that is both close and far;
that is physically close, but socially distant. He disassociates his concept from the understanding
of the stranger as one who comes and goes. Rather, the stranger he speaks of in this case is one
who comes and stays, but has not been socialized under the same conditions as mainstream
society. Despite this, the stranger is not a person who is withdrawn from society and is unaware
of social norms. Rather, someone is inorganically appended to the society, but still an organic
member of the group (ibid, 149). The stranger is seen as and valuable member of society because
it is, in no way connected to any one individual. The stranger holds a certain objectivity, and can be
confessed to without the threat of judgment on the confessor (ibid, 145). Simmel believes that the
role of stranger is historically related to certain forms of economic interaction, particularly trade.
Because the role of the stranger is never the

The Jung Typology Test Adequate Depiction Of My Personality
The Jung Typology Test provided information that was, for the most part, expected. These results
do seem to be an accurate depiction of my personality. This said, my belief is that the results
could change depending on who I associate with at the time. This is perhaps the reason why the
percentages are fairly low on the final report. This test is beneficial to everyone as the information
it gives points out your strengths and weaknesses. For example, I am a natural introvert which
means it is generally my preference to work alone. Consequently, it will be extremely difficult to
progress in the future if I am unable to team up with others. This test identifies this issue and allows
myself to adjust accordingly. On the other hand, my preferences

Pan Europa s Main Issues
II. Issue Identification Pan Europa s main issues can be divided into three parts, the first and
most important being their financial struggle. Due to a recent price war, Pan Europa s
profitability has suffered greatly. Their debt equity ratio of 1.25 and price to earnings ratio of 8
times has resulted in a below average stock price. Currently, their stock is being traded below
book value and well below its competition. This can have a disastrous effect on the company as
many major security brokers are labeling the stock as uncertain and issuing sell recommendations
to investors. This can result in the rapid sale of equity that would deflate Pan Europa s value even
further. Such an event also opens the door for a hostile takeover, as a third party can quickly
acquire a large portion of equity. A high debt equity ratio and historically high debt financing
initiatives increases potential for financial distress, and possibly bankruptcy, if they cannot recover
sufficient funds to cover their cost of debt The second issue faced by Pan Europa has to do with
their external environment. Low population growth in northern Europe coupled with increasingly
saturated markets has resulted in stagnant sales. As competition intensifies, Pan Europa is forced to
make risky decisions, such as the provocation of a price war mentioned above. Although they may
cause smaller, weaker firms to exit the market in the short term, these rash decisions have impacted
Pan Europa s bottom line.

Continuously refer to the statement of work or scope document help eliminate scope creep (non
controlled changes in a project). Use a predetermined process of change control and approval to
add to or redefine the scope of the project. 2.2 Observe Performance Once a control process is in
place, the project manager and stakeholders must then balance between being too aggressively
involved or too hands off. Task owners need a reasonable amount of time to complete their tasks.
They appreciate follow up but not constant observation. During the control phase, the project
manager must be fully and actively engaged. Human behavior plays a very large role in
controlling the project schedule as it relate to timely task completion. The project manager must
have a keen awareness of what is happening (or not happening) with the project and must be alert
to possible risks. 2.3 Follow Up, Follow Up, and Follow Up Routinely update the schedule. If a
participant is not available during a normally schedule s update session, arrangements are strongly
suggested to get the latest news in advance so that information can be shared with the rest of the
project team and stakeholders. A tried and true managementtheory still works management by
walking around. Stakeholders, team leaders and the project manager cannot control a project

Donald Trump Propaganda
As a civilization, trends come and go, what people perceived as cool back then like wearing
parachute pants may not seem so likely today. These trends blow up and die out as quickly as they
come, but to become the kid who fit in you had to follow these trends. What causes these uproars in
popularity are propaganda or campaigns that outline the subject in a positive or negative
manner.Lately all across social media political propaganda has been branding Donald Trumpan anti
hero, and a degenerate, but can this propaganda backfire in a way that is good for Donald
Trump? Is this free publicity in favor of him?

More than any other candidate, Trump has understood how deeply rooted these feelings have
become and he has successfully built an entire campaign around them. If Democrats think they
will have an easy time stopping him in the fall, they might want to take a closer look at the
characters who have been attracting the masses in recent years. I feel as though Zelizer s
opinion upon the situation is partially right, but I believe Trump has gained the population s
vote, and has sustained loyal members of his political party, by being a truthful candidate.
Unlike other candidate s Trump speaks the cold hard truth most of the time, whereas other
people like Hillary Clinton fluff up the truth not exposing how critical situations have become in
the world. In this case trump is the anti hero and Hillary is the hero, people don t want to live in
a fictionalized world made up of lies promised by the candidate, they want the real world and
action done now, and they know Trump is going to be a dynamic character if he becomes

Why An Individual Can Have A Bad Credit Score
Ways to start rebuilding your credit score
There are many reasons why an individual can have a bad credit rating. Common reasons include
a loss of employment , medical bills and a divorce. Whatever the reasons are in your life, if you
have gone through a period of time in your life that has left you with a bad credit rating, there are
several things you can do to begin to build your credit rating back up.
First understand the major factors used to calculate credit ratings
Although there are different ways a lender will calculate a credit score, the basic credit score that
people use is called a FICO score, and this is developed from four criteria. One is payment history.
This is followed by your credit to debt ratio, and the final two are the length of your credit history
as well as the type of credit you have. In order to build up a better credit rating, you will need to
address issues that relate to these four factors.
Look at your credit report
The first thing you need to do is look at your credit report. There is really nothing stopping you
from doing this because your can get a Free Credit Report. Once you get your report, you need to
sit down and look at it carefully. There are, however, three credit agencies: Equifax, Experian and
TransUnion. It is possible that your credit report could be different from one agency to the other.
This is because not every lender reports to all three agencies, but even when they show differences,
overall, they will be close to each

Stanley Gault Research Paper
WOOSTER Stanley Gault was remembered as a faithful husband, caring father, successful
businessman, generous philanthropist, committed Christian and lover of this community Saturday
during funeral services for the former Rubbermaid CEO at Wooster United Methodist Church.
Sons Stephen and Chris Gault, longtime friend Ron Holtman, the Rev. Charles Tobias and Deborah
Hoover shared memories of Stanley Gault, who died June 29 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was 90.
We come together in grief, Tobias said, but through the course of the service and his message
shared how Stanley Gault was now in a heavenly home prepared for him by Jesus. And, he was
now reunited with his wife, Flo, who died April 16, 2013.
Stephen Gault said it was gratifying to see so many wonderful people from near and far who

There was another time his father caught a great walleye, but Stephen failed to string it to the side

though in the second one his dad used shorter words.
There was a time when Stanley Gault was grilling hot dogs at the cabin in Canada for family and
construction workers who were building an addition. While eating, he talked about how he had just
sat next to Lee Iacocca when he retired from Chrysler and had spent time with Prince Rainier of
Monaco and princesses Caroline and Stephanie.
Everyone there was in amazement, but Stanley Gault pivoted the conversation. All of a sudden, the
discussion became all about the construction workers, their lives and their thoughts.
He treated everyone with dignity and respect, Stephen Gault said.
Chris Gault said his father would be the first to admit he never really got over his wife s death.

Although due to all this the Trojans still fight strong, and brave, and many times are strong
enough to push back the Arcadians back to their wall. A Trojan warrior, Poulydamas, suggests
they dismount, and make a massive attack on, foot Hector agrees. After much of a typical back,
and fourth of battle, the Trojans finally drive the Achaeans back within their wall. Just when it
looks like the Trojans are about to breach the wall, an eagle flies overhead, on the left (this was
viewed as unlucky), and carrying a snake. The snake is still alive, and keeps biting the eagle
until it finally lets it go. Poulydamas urges Hector to treat this as a bad omen, and not attack the
Achaean ships (Shmoop editorial team). But unlucky for the Trojans, the Greeks had the greatest

Domestic Financial Stability And The Sovereign Bank Nexus
What about domestic financial stability and the sovereign bank nexus?
Furthermore, the pickup in sovereign bonds demand by domestic banks when foreign investor
demand decreases does act as a stabilizing pillar for sovereigns. Overall reliance on domestic banks
for funding might be characterized as a low run risk, however, it could turn into a high one if there
is an accompanying increase in bank sovereign nexus that could transfer into higher funding costs
for sovereigns and larger refinancing risk. This is exactly what was observed in the GIIPS
countries of Europe during the sovereign debt crisis. Sovereigns should therefore assess the
motivations of such domestic banks for increasing their holdings of their own sovereign bonds in
order to assess the risk of those banks as an investor base.
For instance, the share of sovereign debt held by banks in the Eurozone, in particular, has been more
than twice in 2013 compared to that of 2007. (Becker and Ivashina (2014a)) Such an observation
is evident despite the fact that European banks incurred substantial mark to market losses in 2009
on their peripheral sovereign holdings (Greece, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, or so called GIIPS
) and that in 2011 alone, banks on average lost 40 percent of their market value in an effort to
increase regulatory capital ratios. (Acharya and Steffen (2014)) At the same time, banks sovereign
debt portfolios have exhibited increased home bias. (Battistini et al. (2014); Acharya and Steffen

Transplant Surgery
Transplant surgery can be a very incredible topic. The act of exchanging organs or even body
parts to help or even save another persons life is truly amazing. Transplant surgery can save many
lives without even affecting the donor at all. Organs can come from any body whether it be
deceased, alive, or brain dead. New studies are even trying to get animal organs into humans who
need them. The value of having transplant surgery weighs more than not being able to benefit or
save someone s life. There is nothing un ethical about where the organs come form as I said organs
can come from any human. Live donors willingly consent to donating a non necessary organ to
another. So obviously there is nothing wrong about taking someone s knowing... Show more content

In reading bell hooks opinion about sexism and misogyny I had to admit to myself that I had no
idea what she meant by sexism and misogyny. So, to accurately know what she was referring to, I
looked them up on the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary. For the word sexism, I found there
were two meanings that support hooksideas: 1: prejudice or discrimination based on sex;
especially: discrimination against women and 2: behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster
stereotypes of social roles based on sex. The word misogyny, according to Merriam Webster, is: a
hatred of women. With these definitions, I feel that both words with their meanings truly expose

Since 1993, Snoop Dogg has made a number of albums including Top Dogg and Paid Tha Cost to

his behavior toward women, whether it be on his covers or at the music awards this last year, but
I am excusing it because his music seems to say something different than his P.I.M.P. exterior.) In
his album Doggystyle, Snoop has a song called Gz Up Hoes Down, and his lyrics are as followed:
Chorus:

India s Economic Impact On India Essay
As previously stated, Britain s economic interest in India had begun in the 1600 s when the
British East India Company set up trading posts in several Indian cities such as Madras, Bombay,
and Calcutta (Age of Imperialism 2012). At first, the Mughal dynasty which ruled India at the
time, had kept European traders under control. But by 1707, the Mughal dynasty had begun to
collapse and many small states began to break away from under the control of the Mughal
dynasty. In 1757, Robert Clive led the East India Company troops to a swift and decisive victory
over Indian defence forces along with the French at the Battle of Plassey. From then on, the British
East India Company was the leading power in India (Age of Imperialism 2012).
Throughout the 18th and 19th century, many events have taken place in the world. One of these
events was the industrial revolution starting in England and then eventually spreading to other
countries in Europe (Chauhan 1989: 109). This economic impact affected India because of how
an English man by the name of Thomas Stevens managed to motivate four of London s traders to
travel to India. The industrial revolution allowed for Britain to obtain the raw materials for its
monopoly of factories that they were in need of as well as a location to sell their valuable goods.
What occurred after was a struggle of power in 18th century India. The Mughal empire was
declining in forces which gave the British the power to take full control due to their large

High School Vs. College Student
High school Student vs. College Student School plays an important role in our life. Many of us
will spend more than fifteen years at school in order to get the qualifications that are required to
work in a specific field. Of course, those years are broken down into several levels, some of them
being more liked than others. Two important steps that we go through are high schooland college.
Even though some people would think they are almost similar, yet there are significant differences
between them. The cost of high school educationis not the same as the cost of college education.
Also, some differences apply from an academic point of view. Typically, the social environment
also differs from high school to college, a fact that can be related to the question of freedom
versus responsibility. It is true to say that college is more expensive than high school. Of course,
it provides a higher level of education, but by having such high fees it does not give a chance to
them; coming from a family with a low income. Also, at college you have to buy your own
books whereas in high school you borrow them from the school for a year. As they do for high
schools, the government should pay for the books and then borrow them to students, as they do in
high schools. Paying for the education you get is expensive, but many people have to pay even
more. Many cities do not have colleges, so students who want to get a higher

Compare And Contrast Thomas Jefferson And George Washington
Chief Diplomat is defined as a leader who oversees, creates, and executes foreign relations and
policies between the United States and other countries. The two most influential Chief Diplomats
the US has ever had were George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington thrusted
into the presidency by unanimous vote of the electoral college. Throughout his presidency, George
Washington developed the country further than any president who would follow did. Washington
was able to defend the homeland and support the United State s foreign relations through his
passing of the Neutrality Proclamation, Jay s Treaty, and the Treaty of Tripoli. Many historians
would argue that Thomas Jeffersonmade strides in advancing the nation much further through his
accomplishment of acquiring the Louisiana Territory. Although neither president perfectly
accomplished all goals they set out to complete, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson single
handedly accomplished, shaped, and developed the nation through treaties and foreign relations far
more than any other pair of presidents during their terms as president. Both George Washington and
Thomas Jefferson developed many treaties during their terms as president, but each had one treaty
that made them stand out from other presidents to make them superior Chief Diplomats. For
Thomas Jefferson this treaty is clearly the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase nearly
doubled the size of the United States, provided land for American

Some 310 billion mobile app downloads are expected by Q1/2016, and 70% of smartphones will
be 802.11acready by Q2/2015. And let s not forget about tablets they consume 3.4 times more
traffic compared to a smartphone on average. Networks must contend with this higher demand.
Enterprises have also grown more reliant on higher bandwidth, latency sensitive applications.
For example, virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI) are characterized by bursty, delay sensitive
traffic because processing occurs in the data center instead of locally. HD video capable mobile
devices are proliferating. And users increasingly rely on them for fast and efficient mobile
telepresence. Collaborative programs like Microsoft Lync, Apple FaceTime, WebEx and Citrix
GoToMeeting create two way video traffic across the network. The use of podcasting and

They would find gas station with a cheaper price. If the station lowered the amount of gasoline
by 10% or 15%, there would be a line wrapped around the corner of that gas station. People would
go out of their way to buy cheap gas.
Total receipts and total revenue are determined by multiplying the price of the gas by the quantity
sold. If the demand for a product is elastic, the amount consumer s buy will go up and the price
will be lowered, but if inelastic, a lower price would mean a small increase in the quantity
demanded. It would not be enough if sales increased.
Substitutes and Compliments
Gas cannot be substituted. For food, which is a good, can be substituted. If the price of fish and
butter go up, buyers can switch to chicken and margarine. Small changes in the price of a product
will cause people to switch from one product to the other. When quantity like this sells in a
particular store or small store, the quantity changes drastically by the impact of store receipts, which
tends to make the demand elastic. The more changes in substitutes the more elastic it becomes, the
less substitutes for that particular product, the more inelastic the demand becomes.

Superpowers During The Cold War
During the Cold War 1947 1991, over the course of forty four years was a political and military
tension between the two powers of the Communist bloc (Eastern bloc) and the Capitalist bloc
(Western bloc). The Eastern bloc dominated by the Soviet Union along with the Warsaw pact and
states aligned with the Soviet unionrefers to the to the former communist state of Central and
Eastern Europe. The Western bloc was dominated by the USA with NATO along with its allies and
refers to countries allied with the United States and NATO against the Soviet union and its allies.
The potential dangers of superpower conflict in the nuclear age were demonstrated by the Cuban
Missile Crisis that developed in 1962. That was the first time during the cold war the USA and the
Soviet Union faced each other in direct conflict. This essay will focus on the factors that lead to
the high political tension between the two superpowers and how this conflict had almost brought
the USA and USSR into a ground war and worst of all into a nuclear war.
The origins of this conflict lays behind many events that happened in Cuba since 1959 when the
Cuban Revolution occurred. That meant the spread of communism in South America and the US
understood that the U.S.S.R will be supporting the revolution in Cuba and they will take advantage
of the situation to expand their sphere of influence.
Since the end of Spanish rule, Cuba have been under US influence. Its proximity to the USA was

Organized Crime And Terrorism Similarities
They are two separate entities with similar characteristics. What are the differences? Although
organized criminals can engage in terrorism and terrorists can engage in criminal activity, their
objectives vary. Organized crime seeks opportunistic targets whereas, the operands modem of
terrorists is symbolic. Terrorismhas the main goal of political and/or gain through the destruction of
property and human life.
Organized crime groups are usually made up of members with similar ethnic backgrounds (e.g.,
Italian Mafia, Irish Mob) with the prime objective of seeking wealth and power. In the 1920 during
Prohibition, Organized Crime were instrumental in illegal alcohol sales. The success of Organized
depends on an extensive peripheral network. That peripheral network involves bankers, politicians
and law enforcement; ergo, these portals revolving around business activity protects the core of
organized crime (Stratfor, 2010).
Terrorist groups do not depend on an extensive peripheral network since they are driven by
political and/or social directives. Various Middle Eastern Groups (e.g., ISIL) involve the profitable
business of heroin and human trafficking to raise money for operations (e.g., weapons, training).
Finances are a means to an end; thus there are different constraints which allows them to engage in

globally, being shielded in safe houses within entire countries and internationally. (White,

Britney Spears Cultural Perspective
As a thirty five year old, Caucasian female, Britney came from an unstable home life. Britney
Spears experienced major successes in her life, but went through some major losses. As a group,
we are analyzing the period in Spears s life that she seemed to break away from social norms and
had odd behaviors: such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, vulgar public actions, and changes to her
appearance. We intend to approach this period in her life with a sociocultural perspective in order
to get to the root of her spiral and how she came back on top.
The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual.
The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live.
The main founder and contributor to the sociocultural perspective was Lev Vygotsky. This theory
suggests that human development is largely involved with social process ( Contemporary
Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective, n.d.). That can produce variation or proliferation without
any seemingly significant changes in complexity. Through time, producing a form of structure can
be qualitatively different from the ancestral form. For example, a person who grew up kissing each
other goodbye will most likely pass that onto their children. The environment that Spears has
experienced directly affected her rambunctious actions. In her childhood, she grew up in a
dysfunctional and disordered family due to the alcoholic rages of her father. From

grooming GM crops and prevent it from harming their bodies, but also in conjunction with the

Monsanto, where many residents face extremely difficult obstacle to move to a higher social

up the social ladder, the high mortality rate instead reverse the effect of globalization, changing
the opportunity of making money to being in debt from borrowing money and losing property.
This leads the residents, despite moving to a higher social position, digress and possibility shift

Civic Duties of Teenagers

Civic Duties of Teenagers
Introduction Civic duty is the obligation to each of us to leave our community in a better
condition than we found it. Every person in our country has rights, and with those rights come
responsibilities. That is what civic duty is, your rights and responsibilities that help contribute to
society. Every single day we perform these tasks to help better our country as a whole. Teenagers
have a huge role in this circle, whether they believe it or not. The civic duties that teenagers
perform are a crucial part of our society, because they are the ones who grow up to be the next

I think teenagers should volunteer more often, he said. The definition of civic duty is literally
the activities that one does to serve their community. Teens don t often think about how big their
role is in society... said Bailey. When I was younger, I was in all sorts community projects.
Bailey would like to see more teens signing up to volunteer, but he is very strong about his
opinion that it should be a choice. He thinks adults should steer teenagers in the right direction,
and then let them make the decisions. Being a teenager is a good time to learn how to make
responsible decisions. It should be voluntary, says Bailey. You can lead a horse to water, but you
can t make them drink.
My Civic Duties I find myself very lucky to live in the United States of America. Sadly, in many
other countries teenagers like me are much less fortunate and have fewer rights. What is even more
sad to me is that many teenagers take for granted the rights they inherit as U.S. citizens. One
example is that some teens actually take up the opportunity to drop out of high school whenever
they get the chance. It upsets me that they don t continue with their education and become a better
educated citizen, especially considering it is free.

to survive without overpopulating or under populating. The wolf population in upper Michigan

The animals who ate off of the scrapes from wolf kills now have to go to other places to find
protein and food (Kluger). Once the scientists thought that the population was getting to low the
new pack was introduced. Once the new pack was introduced the other animal populations got
more under control. The coyotes were brought back down to a manageable size which helped
the other populations come back to normal range. This is a good sign because now the
environment can go back to the way it should be and be lush again. Now that the wolf
population is back to where it should be, other concerns have come into the topic. The grey wolf
is a protected species that cannot be hunted in any way. This is causing problems with the locals.
Many farmers feel that they need to protect their livestock by whatever means necessary. With
the wolves being protected they cannot shot them like they would back in the older times. The
wolf population that was introduced back in 1995 is from Canada though. They are also
considered an experimental group because they are being observed. This causes concern to the
civilians living near the wolves. The wolves in the experimental group can be shot or killed to
protect livestock but the protected group cannot. If the protected group is killed there would be
consequences. This leaves a question every time a wolf is shot as to whether or not the wolf is

High Level Nuclear Waste ( Hlw )
High Level Nuclear Waste (HLW) refers to byproducts from nuclear reactors. The byproducts
come in the two forms of spent nuclear fuel, and waste from reprocessing operations. Nuclear fuel
is considered spent when the fission rate has slowed to the point where the creation of electricity is
no longer an efficient process. While reprocessing operations remove uranium or plutonium from
the spent nuclear fuel, the wastes created in the process are still radioactive enough to require the
same sort of storage as spent nuclear fuel. Used nuclear fuel and reprocessing wastes can be
harmful to life and the environment because they are thermally and radioactively hot, so their
storage form must be able to withstand both the heat and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, the United States has no such repository, so casks of immobilized HLW are stored at
the plants that process them. Even without the existence of a repository, any form of ceramic
storage for HLW must be designed with long term effects in mind. Selecting the proper form for
HLW depends on three parameters. The first parameter is the composition of the waste.
Actinides or fission products in HLW will require a complex mixture of elements to be
effectively immobilized in any waste form. The second parameter is the properties of the waste
form. The selection criteria for the waste form properties includes the waste loading maximum,
chemical durability and long term storage ability, and radiation resistance. The waste form must
be capable of containing a required weight percentage of HLW in such a manner that the form is
not degraded over time due to radiation, since HLW products may have very large half lives.
These parameters form the selection criteria that any ceramic candidate for HLW storage must
adhere to in order to be considered. The first waste form to be discussed is borosilicate glass.
Glass is amorphous, so the principle of using this glass as the immobilization form is that the
radionuclides are dissolved and randomly embedded in the structure, and stored interstitially. The
basis for glass as a storage form is based on

The City of Red Deer has a moderately complex website architecture that will need to be
thoroughly investigated and tested to ensure it is still functioning properly with version 8 of
SiteManager. The City of Red Deer makes use of VB.NET applications and generally uses a Code
only template in the content management system to make use of the VB.NET user controls (.ascx).
The city also has additional components that fall outside of the CMS/user control, the most
prominent being the www.reddeerevents.ca domain that will need to be tested for integration with
the new version of TerminalFour SiteManager v8.
Once the new server and website architecture are exposed the new features in v8 of SiteManager
will need to be explored. V8 was heavily re designed with responsiveness in mind which will need
to be evaluated and documented; v8 has also added extensive ability to measure engage users as
well as a multitude of other enhancement and new features. Up and Running with v8
With the substantial changes to TerminalFour SiteManager v8.0 (T4v8) the City of Red Deer
(CoRD) has determined that an additional development environment will need to be established to
test the new version and train a small set of users on before fulling implementing the new version.

My Fitness Plan For The Fitbit App
When this class started, I wrote out goals that I wanted to accomplish during the class and after
the class is over. During the course, I have had some accomplishments with my fitness plan. I
also had challenges trying to accomplish my goals. The Fitbit app helped me track my activity
and helped me accomplish my daily goal. I learned a lot about fitness and what it takes to
become healthier. My attitude towards fitness changed after taking this course. I stayed
motivated in different ways. The content of the course did meet my expectations. I will continue
to work on my fitness routine once this course is complete. My overall fitness goals are to be
able to run a mile on the treadmill without getting tired or stopping, improve my muscular
strength and endurance, and become more flexible. My goal is to be able to do more than ten
pushups without getting tired or my arms getting sore. I also want to be able to touch my toes and
be able to hold stretching position longer than thirty seconds. Overall I just want to become
healthier and in shape. I do think that I can accomplish these goals with hard work and
determination. I have had accomplishments and successes in the course itself. I can now run a mile
in twelve minutes or less. I can bike for fifteen minutes without slowing down or stopping. I can lift
thirty five pounds now and do three sets of fifteen repetitions. I have also started eating healthier,
which is an accomplishment because of how unhealthy I would eat

How Does Arthur Conan Doyle Use The Observant Character Of...
The basis of detective fictions is a well developed and observant character that is able to walk the
audience and outside perspectives through the case. In this case, Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes the
observant perspective of Watson to describe the actions of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle characterizes
Sherlock through underscoring vocabulary and the first person understanding of Watson. A series
of analytical language and descriptive literary devices such as juxtaposition to portray the effects of
Irene Adleron the near perfect character of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle begins the passage by
emphasizing THE woman to Sherlock Holmesin order to introduce an impacting character within
the selective and closed off life of Sherlock. The emphasis on THE resembles her as an
overbearing character that has establish a lasting impact on Sherlock as even he does not
mention her under any other name. The lack of emphasis on her name, but rather her mark on
Sherlock, is utilized to present an ambivalent feeling within Sherlock in which he can t identify
her as a flaw or test of himself. Doyle proceeds by clarifying the idea of her overbearing image by
characterizing her as the dominant image for the whole of his sex in order to reemphasize her
presence in Sherlock s highly selective and egoistic memory. Furthermore, Doyle utilizes the close
relationship of Watson to clarify that it was not any emotion akin to love in order to introduce the
idea of reason rather than emotion, specifically love. In addition, this is the first time THE woman [
s] name is mentioned to slowly introduce the character and ease into the rest of the story and
flashback of their encounter. Further on, Doyle continues the juxtaposition of emotion and reason
within Sherlock s mind through a series of

These species of wildflowers include american bistort, lupine, paintbrush, pasqueflower, gray s
lovage, avalanche lily, and glacier lily. Mount Rainier was formed by years and years of
volcanic activity. Roughly 500,000 years ago lava and pumice began to ooze from beneath the
crust producing a cone that was about 16,000 ft high. 494,300 year later Mount Rainier violently
erupted and collapsed causing mud and debris flow. The last eruption of Mount Rainier occurred
150 years ago. These eruptions produced volcanic ash, lava flows, and avalanches. The lahars
damaged vegetation but overtime made the soil fertile which then produced new extensive
vegetation. The volcanic ash also negatively affected animal respiratory systems, eyes, and skin.
Scientists have not estimated an exact date of the next large eruption of Mount Rainier but they
predict similar eruptions and sporadic releases s of steam and ash resulting in mudflow and floods.
In conclusion, Mount Rainier is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the United States and there
is no telling when or how destructive and effective it s next eruption will

Francois Boucher s The Toilette Of Venus
Art is a medium for exploring a culture s characteristics during a specific time. Understanding an
art piece s content and historical significance can reveal key details about different civilizations.
Following the time period of the Renaissance, European artists experimented with styles to separate
their works from the prior time period. They strayed away from even lighting, stillness, and
symmetry to form a new artistic style that differed from the Renaissance. This type of style was
labeled the Baroque, a European aesthetic focused on movement, emotion, and drama. Francois
Boucher was a French artist from this time that embraced the rising Baroque style. In the 17th
century, the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture was created in France.... Show more content

Art is able to evoke different feelings and emotions to each person that sets their eyes on it. The act
of looking is simple, but a lot comes from it. Where the eyes are first drawn to, the duration that the
eyes are focused on a specific detail, and the thoughts that flood one s brain when viewing art is all
significant. These actions say more than the piece itself, it reveals emotions of both the artist and
the audience. Art can be expressed through infinite forms, but the underlying importance is not with
the art itself. It represents a place in time, displaying what was noteworthy to an individual in their
own life. It serves as a lasting creation representative of human imagination with the ability to bring
out a multitude of emotions from whoever views it. When art is created it represents the creativity
of the human mind compacted into a physical object. Art has little usage aside from pure
observation, yet it has prevailed throughout time, showing its importance to humanity. Art provides
a lens into humanity, showcasing the human ability over time. When studied through history, art is
a view into the development of humans and their interests. Through something as basic as
commonly using symmetry to transitioning to asymmetry, the European s perspective following
the Renaissance is revealed. The making of art is solely up to one individual and their creativity. It
is the pinnacle of

Dworkin Paternalism
How does Dworkin define paternalism, and when does he think it is justified?
In addressing the principle of paternalism, Dworkin notes that there may be more cases in which
it should be justified than what Mill stated. First Dworkin defines paternalism as the interference
with a person s liberty of action justified by reasons referring exclusively to the welfare, good,
happiness, needs, interests or values of the person being coerced , although he later notes that in
some cases, paternalism may also extend to interferences with the liberty of parties whose interests
are not in question . He gives various examples of paternalistic laws and restrictions, such as the
laws requiring motorcyclists to wear safety helmets, regulating the use ... Show more content on

He does recognize that most individuals feel they have duties, whether they are religious or not, but
claims that this is a strength of the integrity argument because it allows people to understand better
why religious exemptions should be justified. Thus religious people are giving ways to better
fulfill their duties and enjoy the good of integrity than non religious people, who might feel that
they need exemptions as well to protect and enjoy theirs. Another point against religious
exemptions as they are advocated by Bou Habib is that we are meant to be equal before the law, so
to exempt certain categories of people to obey the law is undermining the concept of justice and
equality. In addition, most of the time laws are justified, meaning that exemptions are not. For
example, in many countries, including some in which Islam is the predominant religion, such as
Chad, it is forbidden to hide one s face in public areas for security reasons. So religious exemptions
allowing the wearing of burkas would undermine the efforts made to securitize societies, as it
enables fugitives to hide easily amongst many other things.
If there are cases that would justify religious exemptions and there are some , then maybe they
should not be prohibited by the law at all. Bou Habib s argument makes sense, but I maintain that
religious exemptions would have negative consequences as it would leads to

Rochester and St. John Rivers display very similar characteristics throughout the novel, such as
their social standings, severe dispositions, and proposals to Jane. Both men come from wealthy
and respected families. Edward Rochester is born into a high class family and owns multiple
estates, such as Thornfield Hall and Ferndean Manor. Likewise, St. John comes from an
esteemed and well known family that Mr. Oliver, the wealthiest man in Morton, speaks well of
when questioned about the topic by Jane. Secondly, both Mr. Rochester and St. John come off as
harsh and distant until Jane gets to know them well. Mr. Rochester is brusque and asks Jane many
questions about herself, but discloses very little information about his background. During her
time with St. John, she attempts to make him disclose to her his feelings towards Rosamond
Oliver and says, With all his firmness and self control, thought I, he tasks himself too far: locks
every feeling and pang within expresses, confesses, imparts nothing (373; ch. ). Lastly, both Mr.
Rochester and St. John ask Jane to marry them. Jane almost marries Mr. Rochester, but leaves him
after realizing that he is already married. She refuses to marry St. John because she doesn t love
him and returns to Mr. Rochester, who she eventually does marry and spends many happy years
with. Altogether, Mr. Rochester and St. John have similarities such as their respected families, their
distant natures, and their proposals to

Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms
Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of
people that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or
extended relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served
economic and cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In
the modern age, however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more
parents involved in the child s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care
givers, same sex couples, or multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the
United States, but globally. Preparing children for a leadership role in this world also requires that
we take into account individual micro and macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view
the familyas assisting in any way possible the positive relationship of the community, the schools,
and other resources to help those children actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010).
Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists.
He died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in
changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. His ideas were
first presented in a 1978 book, co written with Augustus Napier, called The Family Crucible. In this
book, Whitaker noted that overuse of theory can

Analysis of Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri s Judith with...
Artistic interpretation: Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri s Judith With the Head of Holofernes
Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri s oil painting Judith With the Head of Holofernes (1626) depicts
the Biblical heroine dressed in Renaissance style clothing. She has impassive, beautiful face.
Judith has long, flowing blonde hair, pale blue eyes, and the neckline of her dress is modest.
Judith looks slightly pregnant because of the folds of her gown. The sleeves of her dress are
large, pink, and puffy, further contributing to her feminine appearance, as does her small,
dangling earrings. In one hand, the beautiful woman holds the beheaded face of Holofernes.
Holofernes eyes are closed and he has a snarled, scraggly beard. His face is pale and ashen and
blends into the background. The dead man s face is a stark contrast to Judith s beauty. In the
opposite hand Judith holds a sword. Although her hand has a golden, delicate bracelet, her arm
is clenching the sword in a strong, muscular fashion and the sword is not in its scabbard,
suggesting that Judith is still a vital, active warrior. Judith is speaking to a man (or perhaps a
woman) with a covered head. The figure is much older than Judith, and looks at her with
wonderment, his long nose crinkled with horror. Judith looks at him, not at the viewer. Although
she is an idealized figure, she is fully involved with the scene. The scene is realistically depicted in
the sense that it is not an abstract work of art like a Picasso, but it

Invention, Innovation, and Interdependence Essay
Scientific and technological progress is one of the most important and far reaching of humanity s
effort streams throughout history. One of the hallmarks of any great society is what new or
improved knowledge of the world and how it works that the society can contribute. A strong and
vibrant culture celebrates the spirit of inventionand innovation. Closely allied with this concept is
the spirit of entrepreneurship, considered one of the greatest qualities of the American culture.
Americans laud the success of the inventor and salesman alike; while the greatest self promoters are
more fully remembered, the greatest minds are never truly forgotten. It is in the American society

In this manner, he established himself as the archetypal genius tinkerer rather than an educated
engineer or knowledgeable scientist. Edison did not value ideas for their own sake, as ideas for
inventions can be easy enough to acquire; he knew that the real work came from ...the long
laborious trouble of working them out and producing apparatus that is commercial (Millard 43).
This process of working things out led Edison to establish one of the earliest successful industrial
research centers in America at his West Orange laboratory in New Jersey. It was here that Edison
and company pioneered many of the technologies associated with his name. Inventions such as the
motion picture camera and the phonograph were developed here; from their humble technological
beginnings, these devices have given rise to the motion picture and musical entertainment
industries and are ubiquitous in their modern applications. Edison realized that the key to being a
successful inventor is not in making things but in acquiring sufficient financial backing to
transform genius into reality on a large scale. In this area, Edison proved himself to be perhaps
more adept as a procurer of capital and support than as an inventor. He excelled at the business of
innovation , outpacing many of his contemporaries who preferred to disregard the business side

College Is A Waste Of Time And Money
The amount of money spent on one year alone of college can break someone s heart. For most
people college gets them to where they want to be, but with hard work and dedication going to
work right after high school can take you a long way. Getting out of high school and starting a
career early might be what some people want, but collegeis always an option with all the help they
have today. College is a waste of time and money for a couple reasons. The fact that you spend 13
years in school just to go on to most likely spend four more years at some sort of college makes
some kids think when it comes to should I go to college or not. Some kids believe that you can
make more money working right after high schoolthen heading to college for four years. Statistics
say in College is a Waste of Time and Money by Caroline Bird, that if you put in the money you
would have spent on college in the bank and let the interest alone build it up; by the time you are
ready to retire you will have an extra $199,000. Although no bank will give a student that kind of
money to put into a savings account that number opens a student s eyes. With that said, you will
be completely debt free if you choose to go into the work force directly after high school. In 2015
on average a student was in debt $35,000 after just one year. MarketWatch. N.p. Web. 26 Oct.
2016. That adds up to being around $140,000 after the completed their four year degree. With that

Restaurant in Pucon: Trawen
For the second restaurant, it was a pretty good one like the first one. I d have to say the thing I
liked the most about it was the dessert. I new I had to get a dessert because I haven t got a
dessert all trip and the waitress recommended it so why not. I was very full from what I had to
eat before but when the menu said the ice cream was the top in the country I knew it had to be
somewhat good. It s costed $10 but was the best ice cream I ve probably ever ate. Zach said the
same but London, Drew, and Chris were to full to eat dessert. Overall the food wasn t as good as

After the waitress took our order which took 10 minutes, the cooks only took about 10 15 to get
our food to us. The thing that was even better was that the food was amazing. The reason the

waitress told us. It also says that on the menu. Also some pros were that it was very cheap. Meals
costing anywhere from $5 $25 isn t bad especially considering how good it tasted. Overall, we
completely recommend this restaurant. Service was great, food was great and we hope to visit it
again.

The Banning Of Movies On Lgbt, Religion, Laws, And History
The recent banning of movies with the reason of them containing homosexual contents have started
a wave of ridicule of authorities and their justification. Over the years, several movies were banned
in the United States for the same reason as well. Such examples include American Beauty, But I m a
Cheerleader, Rent, Brokeback Mountain, and Bruno. Besides movies, anything and everything else
on the media have been closely monitored by the authorities. Authorities in certain countries,
especially Middle Eastern countries, have even gone to the lengths of labelling homosexualityas
illegal by law. This not only affects the thinking of citizens of those countries, but also oppress

Furthermore, the word homosexual is a socially constructed word. According to Creech, sexuality
was only explored towards the end of the 19th century through psychoanalysts as they believed that
sexuality helps understand human personality better. All in all, The Bible encourages a loving,
mutual, caring, committed relationship . Understanding this, churches are beginning to grow more
accepting towards the LGBTQ community (Murphy).
Indic religions, or Dharmic religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism, do not express strong
opinions on homosexuality. In fact, a third gender is mentioned in an ancient Hindu legal text
called Manu Smriti. This excerpt explains the third gender as such:
A male child is produced by a greater quantity of male seed, a female child by the prevalence of the
female; if both are equal, a third sex child or boy and girl twins are produced; if either are weak or
deficient in quantity, a failure of conception results (3.49).
The third gender is also defined as not procreative according to The Vedas, a Hindu scripture.
However, it is viewed negatively as the third gender is usually affiliated with low class as
described in ancient text (Gyatso). Interestingly, members of the third sex are not frowned upon
even though some ancient Hindu law books describe non vaginal sex as impure. Kama Sutra, a
Hindu text that describes the pleasure of

Why Is Flagellation Should Be Allowed In Schools
As I was growing up, my mom would tell me stories when they would use the wooden paddle in
school. She would tell me that they would spank her friends when they would behave bad. She
also told me that there was this kid they spanked so hard that they heard the kid sobbing and
squealing. Flagellation should be allowed in some schools, because some kids don t have respect
or manners in schooland by that they should learn by getting paddled. Because some parents don t
punish their kids and that s what makes kids behave bad and they have to learn by getting paddled.
And I think that it would help some parents by straightening their kids up a little. The reason they
should do this again in schools is because some kids don t have the respect they

  • 2. Double Consciousness and the Stranger Essay Throughout history, Georg Simmel and W.E.B. Du Bois have had a significant influence on important theories and ideas developed in the Social Sciences. Perhaps two of the most relevant and well known concepts developed by both of these theorists are the concepts of double consciousness and the stranger . In this paper I will be analyzing both of these pieces of work to draw upon differences and similarities between the two. The similarities I will be elaborating on are the usage of the paradoxical figure, which both Simmel and Du Bois discuss in their theories, and the coexisting feeling of division from mainstream society. The difference between the two theories that I will be exploring is the perception that mainstream society has of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is fixed within a certain spatial circle or within a group whose boundaries are analogous to spatial boundaries but his position within it is fundamentally affected by the fact that he does not belong in it initially and that he brings qualities into it that are not, and cannot be, indigenous to it (Simmel, 143). Simmel defines the stranger as one that is both close and far; that is physically close, but socially distant. He disassociates his concept from the understanding of the stranger as one who comes and goes. Rather, the stranger he speaks of in this case is one who comes and stays, but has not been socialized under the same conditions as mainstream society. Despite this, the stranger is not a person who is withdrawn from society and is unaware of social norms. Rather, someone is inorganically appended to the society, but still an organic member of the group (ibid, 149). The stranger is seen as and valuable member of society because it is, in no way connected to any one individual. The stranger holds a certain objectivity, and can be confessed to without the threat of judgment on the confessor (ibid, 145). Simmel believes that the role of stranger is historically related to certain forms of economic interaction, particularly trade. Because the role of the stranger is never the ... • 3. The Jung Typology Test Adequate Depiction Of My Personality The Jung Typology Test provided information that was, for the most part, expected. These results do seem to be an accurate depiction of my personality. This said, my belief is that the results could change depending on who I associate with at the time. This is perhaps the reason why the percentages are fairly low on the final report. This test is beneficial to everyone as the information it gives points out your strengths and weaknesses. For example, I am a natural introvert which means it is generally my preference to work alone. Consequently, it will be extremely difficult to progress in the future if I am unable to team up with others. This test identifies this issue and allows myself to adjust accordingly. On the other hand, my preferences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Pan Europa s Main Issues II. Issue Identification Pan Europa s main issues can be divided into three parts, the first and most important being their financial struggle. Due to a recent price war, Pan Europa s profitability has suffered greatly. Their debt equity ratio of 1.25 and price to earnings ratio of 8 times has resulted in a below average stock price. Currently, their stock is being traded below book value and well below its competition. This can have a disastrous effect on the company as many major security brokers are labeling the stock as uncertain and issuing sell recommendations to investors. This can result in the rapid sale of equity that would deflate Pan Europa s value even further. Such an event also opens the door for a hostile takeover, as a third party can quickly acquire a large portion of equity. A high debt equity ratio and historically high debt financing initiatives increases potential for financial distress, and possibly bankruptcy, if they cannot recover sufficient funds to cover their cost of debt The second issue faced by Pan Europa has to do with their external environment. Low population growth in northern Europe coupled with increasingly saturated markets has resulted in stagnant sales. As competition intensifies, Pan Europa is forced to make risky decisions, such as the provocation of a price war mentioned above. Although they may cause smaller, weaker firms to exit the market in the short term, these rash decisions have impacted Pan Europa s bottom line. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Use a predetermined process of change control and approval to add to or redefine the scope of the project. 2.2 Observe Performance Once a control process is in place, the project manager and stakeholders must then balance between being too aggressively involved or too hands off. Task owners need a reasonable amount of time to complete their tasks. They appreciate follow up but not constant observation. During the control phase, the project manager must be fully and actively engaged. Human behavior plays a very large role in controlling the project schedule as it relate to timely task completion. The project manager must have a keen awareness of what is happening (or not happening) with the project and must be alert to possible risks. 2.3 Follow Up, Follow Up, and Follow Up Routinely update the schedule. If a participant is not available during a normally schedule s update session, arrangements are strongly suggested to get the latest news in advance so that information can be shared with the rest of the project team and stakeholders. A tried and true managementtheory still works management by walking around. Stakeholders, team leaders and the project manager cannot control a project strictly from their offices. These trends blow up and die out as quickly as they come, but to become the kid who fit in you had to follow these trends. What causes these uproars in popularity are propaganda or campaigns that outline the subject in a positive or negative manner.Lately all across social media political propaganda has been branding Donald Trumpan anti hero, and a degenerate, but can this propaganda backfire in a way that is good for Donald Trump? Is this free publicity in favor of him? More than any other candidate, Trump has understood how deeply rooted these feelings have become and he has successfully built an entire campaign around them. If Democrats think they will have an easy time stopping him in the fall, they might want to take a closer look at the characters who have been attracting the masses in recent years. I feel as though Zelizer s opinion upon the situation is partially right, but I believe Trump has gained the population s vote, and has sustained loyal members of his political party, by being a truthful candidate. Unlike other candidate s Trump speaks the cold hard truth most of the time, whereas other people like Hillary Clinton fluff up the truth not exposing how critical situations have become in the world. In this case trump is the anti hero and Hillary is the hero, people don t want to live in a fictionalized world made up of lies promised by the candidate, they want the real world and action done now, and they know Trump is going to be a dynamic character if he becomes ... • 7. Why An Individual Can Have A Bad Credit Score Ways to start rebuilding your credit score There are many reasons why an individual can have a bad credit rating. Common reasons include a loss of employment , medical bills and a divorce. Whatever the reasons are in your life, if you have gone through a period of time in your life that has left you with a bad credit rating, there are several things you can do to begin to build your credit rating back up. First understand the major factors used to calculate credit ratings Although there are different ways a lender will calculate a credit score, the basic credit score that people use is called a FICO score, and this is developed from four criteria. One is payment history. This is followed by your credit to debt ratio, and the final two are the length of your credit history as well as the type of credit you have. In order to build up a better credit rating, you will need to address issues that relate to these four factors. Look at your credit report The first thing you need to do is look at your credit report. There is really nothing stopping you from doing this because your can get a Free Credit Report. Once you get your report, you need to sit down and look at it carefully. There are, however, three credit agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. It is possible that your credit report could be different from one agency to the other. This is because not every lender reports to all three agencies, but even when they show differences, overall, they will be close to each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stanley Gault Research Paper WOOSTER Stanley Gault was remembered as a faithful husband, caring father, successful businessman, generous philanthropist, committed Christian and lover of this community Saturday during funeral services for the former Rubbermaid CEO at Wooster United Methodist Church. Sons Stephen and Chris Gault, longtime friend Ron Holtman, the Rev. Charles Tobias and Deborah Hoover shared memories of Stanley Gault, who died June 29 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was 90. We come together in grief, Tobias said, but through the course of the service and his message shared how Stanley Gault was now in a heavenly home prepared for him by Jesus. And, he was now reunited with his wife, Flo, who died April 16, 2013. Both occasions were followed by a vigorous Stanley Gault lecture, though in the second one his dad used shorter words. There was a time when Stanley Gault was grilling hot dogs at the cabin in Canada for family and construction workers who were building an addition. While eating, he talked about how he had just sat next to Lee Iacocca when he retired from Chrysler and had spent time with Prince Rainier of Monaco and princesses Caroline and Stephanie. Everyone there was in amazement, but Stanley Gault pivoted the conversation. All of a sudden, the discussion became all about the construction workers, their lives and their thoughts. He treated everyone with dignity and respect, Stephen Gault said. Chris Gault said his father would be the first to admit he never really got over his wife s death. They were married for 63 ... Although due to all this the Trojans still fight strong, and brave, and many times are strong enough to push back the Arcadians back to their wall. A Trojan warrior, Poulydamas, suggests they dismount, and make a massive attack on, foot Hector agrees. After much of a typical back, and fourth of battle, the Trojans finally drive the Achaeans back within their wall. Just when it looks like the Trojans are about to breach the wall, an eagle flies overhead, on the left (this was viewed as unlucky), and carrying a snake. The snake is still alive, and keeps biting the eagle until it finally lets it go. Poulydamas urges Hector to treat this as a bad omen, and not attack the Achaean ships (Shmoop editorial team). But unlucky for the Trojans, the Greeks had the greatest fighter of them all, Achilleus, and have a great vendetta for the Trojans, for killing his best friend Patroklos, but by enraging the great warrior Achilleus is to be the greatest mistake that the Trojans had done. • 10. Domestic Financial Stability And The Sovereign Bank Nexus What about domestic financial stability and the sovereign bank nexus? Furthermore, the pickup in sovereign bonds demand by domestic banks when foreign investor demand decreases does act as a stabilizing pillar for sovereigns. Overall reliance on domestic banks for funding might be characterized as a low run risk, however, it could turn into a high one if there is an accompanying increase in bank sovereign nexus that could transfer into higher funding costs for sovereigns and larger refinancing risk. This is exactly what was observed in the GIIPS countries of Europe during the sovereign debt crisis. Sovereigns should therefore assess the motivations of such domestic banks for increasing their holdings of their own sovereign bonds in order to assess the risk of those banks as an investor base. For instance, the share of sovereign debt held by banks in the Eurozone, in particular, has been more than twice in 2013 compared to that of 2007. (Becker and Ivashina (2014a)) Such an observation is evident despite the fact that European banks incurred substantial mark to market losses in 2009 on their peripheral sovereign holdings (Greece, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, or so called GIIPS ) and that in 2011 alone, banks on average lost 40 percent of their market value in an effort to increase regulatory capital ratios. (Acharya and Steffen (2014)) At the same time, banks sovereign debt portfolios have exhibited increased home bias. (Battistini et al. (2014); Acharya and Steffen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Transplant surgery can save many lives without even affecting the donor at all. Organs can come from any body whether it be deceased, alive, or brain dead. New studies are even trying to get animal organs into humans who need them. The value of having transplant surgery weighs more than not being able to benefit or save someone s life. So, to accurately know what she was referring to, I looked them up on the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary. For the word sexism, I found there were two meanings that support hooksideas: 1: prejudice or discrimination based on sex; especially: discrimination against women and 2: behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex. The word misogyny, according to Merriam Webster, is: a hatred of women. (I am not condoning his behavior toward women, whether it be on his covers or at the music awards this last year, but I am excusing it because his music seems to say something different than his P.I.M.P. exterior.) In his album Doggystyle, Snoop has a song called Gz Up Hoes Down, and his lyrics are as followed: Chorus: Well, all the real Gz please stand up and let all be accounted for, and if you don t give a f*** about a b****, then you re rolling with the row Outro: Hell yeah, YaknowhatI msayin? • 13. India s Economic Impact On India Essay As previously stated, Britain s economic interest in India had begun in the 1600 s when the British East India Company set up trading posts in several Indian cities such as Madras, Bombay, and Calcutta (Age of Imperialism 2012). At first, the Mughal dynasty which ruled India at the time, had kept European traders under control. But by 1707, the Mughal dynasty had begun to collapse and many small states began to break away from under the control of the Mughal dynasty. In 1757, Robert Clive led the East India Company troops to a swift and decisive victory over Indian defence forces along with the French at the Battle of Plassey. From then on, the British East India Company was the leading power in India (Age of Imperialism 2012). Throughout the 18th and 19th century, many events have taken place in the world. One of these events was the industrial revolution starting in England and then eventually spreading to other countries in Europe (Chauhan 1989: 109). This economic impact affected India because of how an English man by the name of Thomas Stevens managed to motivate four of London s traders to travel to India. The industrial revolution allowed for Britain to obtain the raw materials for its monopoly of factories that they were in need of as well as a location to sell their valuable goods. What occurred after was a struggle of power in 18th century India. The Mughal empire was declining in forces which gave the British the power to take full control due to their large ... • 14. High School Vs. College Student High school Student vs. College Student School plays an important role in our life. Many of us will spend more than fifteen years at school in order to get the qualifications that are required to work in a specific field. Of course, those years are broken down into several levels, some of them being more liked than others. Two important steps that we go through are high schooland college. Even though some people would think they are almost similar, yet there are significant differences between them. The cost of high school educationis not the same as the cost of college education. Also, some differences apply from an academic point of view. Typically, the social environment also differs from high school to college, a fact that can be related to the question of freedom versus responsibility. It is true to say that college is more expensive than high school. Of course, it provides a higher level of education, but by having such high fees it does not give a chance to them; coming from a family with a low income. Also, at college you have to buy your own books whereas in high school you borrow them from the school for a year. As they do for high schools, the government should pay for the books and then borrow them to students, as they do in high schools. Paying for the education you get is expensive, but many people have to pay even more. Many cities do not have colleges, so students who want to get a higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Thomas Jefferson And George Washington Chief Diplomat is defined as a leader who oversees, creates, and executes foreign relations and policies between the United States and other countries. The two most influential Chief Diplomats the US has ever had were George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington thrusted into the presidency by unanimous vote of the electoral college. Throughout his presidency, George Washington developed the country further than any president who would follow did. Washington was able to defend the homeland and support the United State s foreign relations through his passing of the Neutrality Proclamation, Jay s Treaty, and the Treaty of Tripoli. Many historians would argue that Thomas Jeffersonmade strides in advancing the nation much further through his accomplishment of acquiring the Louisiana Territory. Although neither president perfectly accomplished all goals they set out to complete, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson single handedly accomplished, shaped, and developed the nation through treaties and foreign relations far more than any other pair of presidents during their terms as president. Both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson developed many treaties during their terms as president, but each had one treaty that made them stand out from other presidents to make them superior Chief Diplomats. For Thomas Jefferson this treaty is clearly the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States, provided land for American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Enterprises have also grown more reliant on higher bandwidth, latency sensitive applications. For example, virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI) are characterized by bursty, delay sensitive traffic because processing occurs in the data center instead of locally. HD video capable mobile devices are proliferating. And users increasingly rely on them for fast and efficient mobile telepresence. Collaborative programs like Microsoft Lync, Apple FaceTime, WebEx and Citrix GoToMeeting create two way video traffic across the network. The use of podcasting and streaming has also skyrocketed. It is therefore only natural to see a huge increase in the consumption of multimedia on mobile devices in the residence hall. If the station lowered the amount of gasoline by 10% or 15%, there would be a line wrapped around the corner of that gas station. People would go out of their way to buy cheap gas. Total receipts and total revenue are determined by multiplying the price of the gas by the quantity sold. If the demand for a product is elastic, the amount consumer s buy will go up and the price will be lowered, but if inelastic, a lower price would mean a small increase in the quantity demanded. That was the first time during the cold war the USA and the Soviet Union faced each other in direct conflict. This essay will focus on the factors that lead to the high political tension between the two superpowers and how this conflict had almost brought the USA and USSR into a ground war and worst of all into a nuclear war. The origins of this conflict lays behind many events that happened in Cuba since 1959 when the Cuban Revolution occurred. That meant the spread of communism in South America and the US understood that the U.S.S.R will be supporting the revolution in Cuba and they will take advantage of the situation to expand their sphere of influence. Britney Spears experienced major successes in her life, but went through some major losses. As a group, we are analyzing the period in Spears s life that she seemed to break away from social norms and had odd behaviors: such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, vulgar public actions, and changes to her appearance. We intend to approach this period in her life with a sociocultural perspective in order to get to the root of her spiral and how she came back on top. The sociocultural perspective focuses on the impact of social and cultural context on an individual. The theory stresses the interaction between developing people and the culture in which they live. The main founder and contributor to the sociocultural perspective was Lev Vygotsky. This theory suggests that human development is largely involved with social process ( Contemporary Psychology: Sociocultural Perspective, n.d.). That can produce variation or proliferation without any seemingly significant changes in complexity. Through time, producing a form of structure can be qualitatively different from the ancestral form. Bailey would like to see more teens signing up to volunteer, but he is very strong about his opinion that it should be a choice. He thinks adults should steer teenagers in the right direction, and then let them make the decisions. Being a teenager is a good time to learn how to make responsible decisions. It should be voluntary, says Bailey. You can lead a horse to water, but you can t make them drink. My Civic Duties I find myself very lucky to live in the United States of America. Sadly, in many other countries teenagers like me are much less fortunate and have fewer rights. What is even more sad to me is that many teenagers take for granted the rights they inherit as U.S. citizens. One example is that some teens actually take up the opportunity to drop out of high school whenever they get the chance. It upsets me that they don t continue with their education and become a better educated citizen, especially considering it is free. A young couple that went on a killing spree over eight days in Nebraska in the 1950s, killing ten people. The song is short and intimate despite it being a first person narrative of a serial killer. Springsteen writes, They wanted to know why I did what I did Well, sir, I guess there s just a meanness in this world. as the last words of the song. This ending coupled with the historical background expresses a few themes that I believe Springsteen wanted to convey. The first being that people always seem to search for meaning in things, that sometimes have no meaning at all. Secondly, that isolation and loneliness can be a hard thing to cope with, and it is something that I have had to experience and learn throughout my life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion First contact, trust building, and life enhancing goals, should be considered as one component. To me this is essential because, it is the foundation to start an effective treatment plan. No one will truly trust or confide in you as a counselor, if you don t make a good impression. This is important to me since how can you as a counselor expect someone to really, and I mean really open up to you aren t warm and inviting, trustworthy, and willing to be goal oriented in their treatment plan. Our interest is in the psychological and spiritual health of the client, and sometimes God may just use you as an intermediary to point the client to the best care they can receive. Once the scientists thought that the population was getting to low the new pack was introduced. Once the new pack was introduced the other animal populations got more under control. The coyotes were brought back down to a manageable size which helped the other populations come back to normal range. This is a good sign because now the environment can go back to the way it should be and be lush again. Now that the wolf population is back to where it should be, other concerns have come into the topic. The grey wolf is a protected species that cannot be hunted in any way. This is causing problems with the locals. Many farmers feel that they need to protect their livestock by whatever means necessary. With the wolves being protected they cannot shot them like they would back in the older times. The wolf population that was introduced back in 1995 is from Canada though. They are also considered an experimental group because they are being observed. This causes concern to the civilians living near the wolves. The byproducts come in the two forms of spent nuclear fuel, and waste from reprocessing operations. Nuclear fuel is considered spent when the fission rate has slowed to the point where the creation of electricity is no longer an efficient process. While reprocessing operations remove uranium or plutonium from the spent nuclear fuel, the wastes created in the process are still radioactive enough to require the same sort of storage as spent nuclear fuel. Used nuclear fuel and reprocessing wastes can be harmful to life and the environment because they are thermally and radioactively hot, so their storage form must be able to withstand both the heat and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently, the United States has no such repository, so casks of immobilized HLW are stored at the plants that process them. Even without the existence of a repository, any form of ceramic storage for HLW must be designed with long term effects in mind. Selecting the proper form for HLW depends on three parameters. The first parameter is the composition of the waste. Actinides or fission products in HLW will require a complex mixture of elements to be effectively immobilized in any waste form. The second parameter is the properties of the waste form. The selection criteria for the waste form properties includes the waste loading maximum, chemical durability and long term storage ability, and radiation resistance. The waste form must be capable of containing a required weight percentage of HLW in such a manner that the form is not degraded over time due to radiation, since HLW products may have very large half lives. These parameters form the selection criteria that any ceramic candidate for HLW storage must adhere to in order to be considered. The first waste form to be discussed is borosilicate glass. Glass is amorphous, so the principle of using this glass as the immobilization form is that the radionuclides are dissolved and randomly embedded in the structure, and stored interstitially. The basis of detective fictions is a well developed and observant character that is able to walk the audience and outside perspectives through the case. In this case, Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes the observant perspective of Watson to describe the actions of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle characterizes Sherlock through underscoring vocabulary and the first person understanding of Watson. A series of analytical language and descriptive literary devices such as juxtaposition to portray the effects of Irene Adleron the near perfect character of Sherlock Holmes. Doyle begins the passage by emphasizing THE woman to Sherlock Holmesin order to introduce an impacting character within the selective and closed off life of Sherlock. The lack of emphasis on her name, but rather her mark on Sherlock, is utilized to present an ambivalent feeling within Sherlock in which he can t identify her as a flaw or test of himself. Doyle proceeds by clarifying the idea of her overbearing image by characterizing her as the dominant image for the whole of his sex in order to reemphasize her presence in Sherlock s highly selective and egoistic memory. He does recognize that most individuals feel they have duties, whether they are religious or not, but claims that this is a strength of the integrity argument because it allows people to understand better why religious exemptions should be justified. Thus religious people are giving ways to better fulfill their duties and enjoy the good of integrity than non religious people, who might feel that they need exemptions as well to protect and enjoy theirs. Another point against religious exemptions as they are advocated by Bou Habib is that we are meant to be equal before the law, so to exempt certain categories of people to obey the law is undermining the concept of justice and equality. In addition, most of the time laws are justified, meaning that exemptions are not. For example, in many countries, including some in which Islam is the predominant religion, such as Chad, it is forbidden to hide one s face in public areas for security reasons. So religious exemptions allowing the wearing of burkas would undermine the efforts made to securitize societies, as it enables fugitives to hide easily amongst many other things. If there are cases that would justify religious exemptions and there are some , then maybe they should not be prohibited by the law at all. Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of people that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or extended relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served economic and cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In the modern age, however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more parents involved in the child s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care givers, same sex couples, or multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the United States, but globally. Preparing children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the familyas assisting in any way possible the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010). Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists. He died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. Artistic interpretation: Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri s Judith With the Head of Holofernes Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri s oil painting Judith With the Head of Holofernes (1626) depicts the Biblical heroine dressed in Renaissance style clothing. She has impassive, beautiful face. Judith has long, flowing blonde hair, pale blue eyes, and the neckline of her dress is modest. Judith looks slightly pregnant because of the folds of her gown. The sleeves of her dress are large, pink, and puffy, further contributing to her feminine appearance, as does her small, dangling earrings. In one hand, the beautiful woman holds the beheaded face of Holofernes. Holofernes eyes are closed and he has a snarled, scraggly beard. His face is pale and ashen and blends into the background. The dead man s face is a stark contrast to Judith s beauty. In the opposite hand Judith holds a sword. Although her hand has a golden, delicate bracelet, her arm is clenching the sword in a strong, muscular fashion and the sword is not in its scabbard, suggesting that Judith is still a vital, active warrior. Judith is speaking to a man (or perhaps a woman) with a covered head. The figure is much older than Judith, and looks at her with wonderment, his long nose crinkled with horror.
