Shirley Cards are color reference cards, specifically used to balance skin color, in print photography.
These cards are named after Shirley Page, the Kodak model which is depicted in the color comparison
prints distributed all over the world. Shirley Cards were used as the
standard that all other printed photographs would be compared to for decades.
In the photographs Shirley had blue eyes, pale skin, dark brown hair, and wore vibrant colored

different ways when tragedy strikes. Often during the most difficult situations, a persons true character
is magnified. The children of Perdido Beach lived a relatively normal life, until a radioactive
explosion took the lives of everyone over the age of fourteen. In Gone, Michael Grant uses cultural,
physical, and geographical surroundings to shape the psychological and moral traits of his characters
as they try to save the small town of Perdido Beach, California.
In his novel, Grant uses culture to shape the moral traits of Sam and Drake. As Sam, Astrid, Little
Pete, Lana, Quinn, and Edilio trekked through the woods, Drake and Caine followed them in a SUV.
Drake climbs out of the vehicle and pulls a gun to Astrid s head, but quickly decides to go after Sam,
instead. Drake strikes Sam on the head with the gun and knocks him to the ground. As Sam is lying

factions were an essential part of government, that needed to be revised through careful governmental
intervention. Madison was careful to ensure his vision for the country s future would protect the given
right to liberty; therefore he found in the Constitution multiple outlets for these factions to dissolve.
However, the government itself was corrupt so the three branches had to be separated to prevent
tyranny and be successful in stopping the dangerous factions. Therefore, in Federalist Papers No. 10
and No. 51, Madison would outline his goals for creating a more cohesive country. A faction by
definition is a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one, especially in politics. These
groups are often wound together based off some principle they believe relates to them in some way or
another. Madison thought most factions existed through unequal property distribution. Few individuals
had a large majority of property while most had little property and others having none at all. Madison
even said in Federalist Paper No. 10, Those who hold and those who are without property have ever
formed a distinct interest in society (Madison, 1787). This interest he was referring to was how often
these two classes of people were discriminated; the discrimination being labeled as rich or poor.

In his article What Mary Didn t Know Frank Jackson comes up with a convincing argument, which
challenges physicalism, a theory of the mind, and its validity. In this paper I will look at Jacksons
argument, specifically his second premise, and whether or not his conclusion follows it. I will also
attempt to present the objections, which he presented to his paper and the replies he builds against
them.
Physicalism is the idea that the physical facts are all of the facts; which implies that if you know all of
the physical facts you know all facts. Physicalism is a type of substance monism and there are several
different kinds of physicalism, but it is not necessary to go into the specifics because Jackson targets

The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on the
germination rate of Wisconsin Fast Plants.
Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed
through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life cycle of
around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In addition, WFPs
are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive (Williams). Their simple
needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in experiments.
Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the
seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water. Then,
the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and leaves
develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The Learning
Garden 2001).
NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and
germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species ability
to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called glycophytes,
