Open Bite Malocclusion
Open bite malocclusion is either inherited or due to habits, that may persist for a long period. Treating
an open bite malocclusion is challenging, as it requires a high patient compliance and good
orthodontist knowledge and experience, which could be decisive in choosing a suitable treatment plan.
After treating open bite patients, for example, using a palatal crib and a chin cup, only a significant
extrusion of the incisors, as well as an increase in the overbite and the exposure of the maxillary
incisors will be gained, and no significant changes in the level of eruption of the molars, with no real
or relative intrusion of these teeth, skeletal changes, or a significant growth inhibition of the lower
anterior face height, closure of the

Rhetorical Appeals In Fed Up
In recent years, obesity has become one of the major health crisis in the United States. Obesity rates
are growing continuously in the United States. More and more people have affected by obesity. Even
children have become the victims of obesity. Stephanie Soechtig, the director of the documentary film
Fed Up, looks into the obesity epidemic to to find the reasons that caused this health issue and
possible solutions. According to Katie Couric, The narrator of Fed Up, the general public believe the
cause of obesity epidemic are the lack of exercise and increased appetites (Fed Up). However, the true
cause that Soechting has found is not just simply lack of exercise or increased appetites. In the
documentary film Fed Up, the producer Stephanie Soechting is trying to convince the ... Show more

Soechtig uses logical appeal to support the argument of the documentary with clear evidence and
example. Soechtig also shows the ethical appeal through featuring top figures and expects as speaker
throughout the documentary. Emotional appeals has created a relation between the audience and the
documentary by showing the emotion and struggling of four children and the use of appropriate
language. The film itself have done a good job on keeping the audience engage. In the film, Couric
have stumped multiple people in the food industry, which added some entertainment to the film. The
strong visual effects and some vibrant music in the film have also keep the audience from feeling
boring. However, while featuring top figures and experts can build a trust with the audience, the fact
that most speaker in the documentary are politicians and journalists instead of nutrition scientists is a
weakness of the documentary. Nevertheless, the documentary is effective in convincing the audience
that the food industry are threatening the health of the United

Examples Of Rapport And Empathy
Angelica Lai Discussion #2: Empathy and Rapport Building rapport and empathy with clients is
extremely important no matter what the job is. As mentioned throughout this module, empathy and
rapport fuel the relationship between people. My previous work experience includes working at a
movie theatre and hospital security. Both jobs required rapport and empathy as these jobs required
serving the public. However, even though the jobs itself were different, both had the same underlying
task, which is working with people. Working at the movie theatre, it is directed to more of a customer
service job, where often the guests get upset over issues we as the employee do not understand. I
found once you put their issues in front of your own personal ... Show more content on

I found if I focus on the interpersonal aspect of the relationship, I can build and maintain positive
working relationships. However, this is not the only skills that are important. It is important to
showcase characteristics, or attributes like trust, respect, humour, and integrity. After reading the
content in Module 2, I have seen skills I use, but also new skills I am going to incorporate. One
suggestions I am going to incorporate is the acronym E.M.P.A.T.H.Y. from the Ted Talk by Helen
Riess (2013). The reason being that, this is an easy acronym to remember and apply when building
both rapport and empathy. I will need to practice this for a while, but as soon as I get it right, it will be
an easy guideline to help build that connection with others. Another skill, which was explained in this
module was the power of powerless communication from the Ted Talk by Adam Grant (2013). In a
security position it is often explained to talk with assertiveness, but sometimes this backfires as the
client becomes more aggressive. By applying the concepts of tentative talking, it may help build that
rapport and empathy as it shows a more humanistic side. I think it is important that we show our
humanistic side, as many individuals just see the uniform and not the person wearing it. By applying
these skills, I

4 Cranial Nerves Lab
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment is to evaluate the 4 cranial nerves that are used for vision and eye
movement based on their functions by performing several tests. With that being said, there are 12
cranial nerves in the body. The first cranial nerve is known as Olfactory Nerve I. This nerve is used for
smell. Next, is the nerve that is used for vision and that is Optic Nerve II. The third cranial nerve is the
Oculomotor Nerve III, which allows movement of the eye in several directions including up, down, up
and inward. In addition, this nerve controls the pupil. Next, is the Trochlear Nerve IV. This nerve
moves the eyes in a down and inward movement. The next nerve is responsible for the sensory
impulses to different parts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Key Challenge For Academic Achievement
Prompt 5: Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to
overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?
Most children grow up fearing the dark or scary monsters in the closet. I grew up fearing my dad and
his alcoholism. When I was in the third grade, my dad always drove me home from school, and I
prayed to God every day that he would be sober. His breath always reeked of alcohol, and his eyes
were constantly bloodshot red. As a child, I didn t understand the consequences of alcohol until one
day, during the ride home, my dad swerved onto multiple lanes, resulting in loud, alarming sirens. I

How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time?
Patience is a virtue, but to me, it is a skill. It has become a trait that I possess in my relationships with
others. As a former assistant to a private tutor, I was granted the opportunity to teach a variety of
students, ranging from kids who just learned how to add and subtract to those who know how to
calculate the slope of a tangent line.
One of my students, Kyle, was a 10 year old boy who struggles with dyslexia. Words that were simple
for others his age to read were difficult for him to understand. From this, I understood the importance
of having patience and multiple perspectives. Every day, I helped Kyle with his homework, and every
day I saw the frustration on his face when he had difficulty reading. I learned to have patience with not
only with him but also myself. I had to put myself in Kyle s shoes and try not to get frustrated when he
couldn t read a word in order to find the best method of teaching him. Over time, his reading improved
and he slowly was able to differentiate his letters. He no longer confused his d s with his b s and his q
s with his p s. With this, Kyle made me realize that I was making a difference in someone else s life as
well as my own by opening my eyes to the possibility of working with children in the future.
Patience is difficult to maintain which is why I consider having patience a talent. It is not something
inherent in most people s

President Presidential Debates And Vice President s Views...
It was a great experience to watch vice presidential debates as it was different from presidential
debates. Also, was engaging to see what will be different from presidents to vice presidents. As I
watched vice president debates after third presidential debate, I can say that topics were same. They
were discussing topics about immigration, Syria, Russia, economy and education. I did not like that
vice presidents interrupted each other a lot of times, but overall, it was a very cognitive and open
debate.
The first topic was about economic issues and vice president s views about our economy. The reporter
has asked the first question about their explanation of a fact that non partisan committees said neither
of their economic plans will reduce the national debt. Pence started by stating that he has done an
excellent job as a governor with balanced budget. Republicans plan is to cut taxes and improve the
education. They believe cutting taxes will help US economy to move again. Also, he has stated the
willingness of repealing Obama Care since it does not work as it is right now. According to Pence,
when they will get the economy growing, only after they can deal with the national debt. Kiane
brought the 5 components plan that they are planning to make. It consists of investing in
manufacturing, investing in work force, making colleges debt free, promoting fairness, promoting
small business growth, and raising taxes. In my opinion, democrats already have a clear plan, on the

Oh Ms Believer Analysis
Some people listen to songs because they like the how the song sounds to them, and completely ignore
the lyrics, while others listen to the lyrics of the song, rather than simply hearing the catchy beat. In
Oh Ms Believer by Twenty One Pilots, someone is trying to help his or her loved one through the
complications of depression. There are many different hidden meanings in the lyrics of the song Oh
Ms Believer , such as in the lyrics Oh, Miss Believer, my pretty sleeper/Your twisted mind is like
snow on the road (1 2). The song opens with a simile that means her thoughts cover up who she truly
is, or that her thoughts could be dangerous, perhaps life threatening, because when snow covers a road
it becomes hidden, slippery, and dangerous to drive on. Another part of the song s lyrics Your shaking
shoulders prove that it s colder/Inside your head than the winter of dead (3 4), show that the subject in
the song is probably crying because her shoulders are shaking, and also that her thoughts are
depressing and likely dangerous. The entire song relies heavily on the idea of cold, such as winter and
snow, for in the lyrics of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

snow on the rooftops (15 16), represents that the woman s thoughts are weighing her down and hiding
who she truly is. This song focuses on depression and how it warps one s mind, hides one s true
personality, physically and mentally weighs one down, and how ones does not believe the
compliments one receives because one does not believe they could be

Men s Lacrosse Research Papers
Lacrosse is a team sport that originated with Native Americans who lived in the northeastern areas of
the US and in Canada. The first documentation of the game came from a Jesuit Missionary in the mid
1600s making it the oldest game in North America. It is believed to have developed around 1100 AD.
Competitions were major events that could go on for days and involve 100 to 1,000 men. The rules
were agreed upon the day before the competition was scheduled to begin. Today the rules of the game
have been codified to help prevent any confusion.
The sport of Lacrosse is played by both men s and women s teams. The rules for each are similar, but
there are differences. For example, body checking is illegal in the women s game. That is why the
amount of protective equipment in the women s game is far less than that for the men s game. The
men s game uses ten players while the women s game uses 12 players. Women s sticks cannot have
mesh for the pockets, and the ball must be located above the sidewall every time it is in the pocket.
This makes shooting and stick handling much more difficult than in the men s game. The field size for
men is 60 yards by 110 yards while that for women is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These 10 positions include 3 attacks, 3 mid fields, 3 defenders, and a goalie. Throughout the game
there are tactical rolling substitutions such as you might see in ice hockey. This gets fresh players on
the field so that the game can be played at an extremely fast pace. The purpose of the game is to score
as many points or goals as possible in the time allotted. The goals are 6 feet by 6 feet, and they are
placed about 10 yards into the playing surface so that players can run behind them, again, much like
ice hockey. The tennis sized ball is made of solid rubber so it can hurt if it hits you at a fast speed. A
game has 4 quarters of 15 minutes each, and the teams with the most points at the end of the fourth

Arizona Laws Are Used For Determine Spousal Maintenance,...
Arizona laws are used to determine spousal maintenance, child support and family support awards and
amounts. In some cases, the court finds a temporary family support award appropriate. Laws and
specifications regarding the handling of awards varies when comparing awards as set down in a final
Decree to a temporary family support award. This differences between how the two types of financial
awards are handled can lead to difficulties in interpreting the law as pertaining to the situation at hand.
Such seemed to be the case with Maximov v. Maximov.
Background of the Case: Ronit Maximov, Respondent Appellant, v. Eitan Maximov, Petitioner
Appellee
Ronit Rosenberg and Eitan Maximov were married on August 7, 1998. Eitan petitioned for a
dissolution of marriage on October 26, 2005. At that point in time, the couple had one child and Ronit
was pregnant with a second child. The decree of dissolution was entered by family court on July 30,
2007. Included in the final Decree were changes to the temporary family support awarded prior to the
court proceedings that were made effective prior to the date on which Eitan filed a petition requesting
a modification. Ronit attempted to address concerns through post trial motions that were denied. This
appeal followed.

The Method Of Second Language Acquisition
Krashen used the natural approach to explain the process of second language acquisition. Krashen s
model basically consists of two parts. In the first part, the language acquisition device the
comprehensible input triggered and this starts children s language development. This process is
affected by the anxiety factor, which he called affective filter. In the second part, the acquired
language combined with the intentional learning result in the language output. In this process, the
intentional learning monitors students output. Specifically speaking, his model proposes that a low
affective filter or a low anxiety is good for children s acquisition. He further believes that the learned
knowledge hinders our acquisition and needs to be avoided (Brown, 2014). This argument indicates
that teachers had better avoid such monitoring as correcting students responses since it hinders
students acquisition. Also, Krashen argues that it is good for children to acquire the language
subconsciously. Besides, he asserts that children follow a natural order to acquire the rules of the
language. In Bialystok s model classified knowledge into explicit linguistic knowledge, implicit
linguistic knowledge and general knowledge. Bialystok s model consists of four learning strategies,
which are formal practicing, functional practicing, inferencing and monitoring ((O Malley, J. M.,
Chamot, 1990). In this theory, formal practicing refers to the practice of the rules of language. And

Bend It Like Beckham Cultural Essay
Bend it Like Beckham (2002/3) is a romantic comedy written, directed and produced by Gurinder
Chadha, a Kenya born British film maker who grew up India. Director Chadha s films often reflect on
her complex background. Unlike many comedies, Bend it Like Beckham is filled with plenty of
important themes. One of them addresses the importance of cultural integration.
Jesminder Bhamra, like the director, is British Asian. Just like Director Chadha had refused to take
traditional Punjabi dancing lessons and watch Bollywood films as a child, Jesminder unintentionally
rebels when trying to integrate cultures. Jesminder s traditional Sikh parents want her to be good by

mother, Mrs Bhamra, is praying to a picture of Guru Nanak founder of Sikhism for Jess results to be
good. A combination of overhead shots and mid shots couples with Jess words, Hurry up, mum, show
that Jess does not really care about her religion. The overhead shots show Mrs Bhamra praying very
sincerely while Jess, behind her mother, looks like she really could not care less. The following mid
shot shows Jess opening the envelope quickly and roughly with a doubtful expression on her face.
This scene shows her awareness but disinterest and disbelief in her religion. Another scene shows that,
even though Jess is aware that traditions are a part her life, she does not agree with them. Her football
team mate asks her how she can stand having to marry who others want her to. The close up shot
immediately next shows her saying, it s just culture with a nonchalant facial expression. The scene
indicates that Jess knows the expectation of her to follow the traditions but may not strongly believe in
those traditions. Her actions indicate that we should not remain separate from the new environment,
but to combine the old and the new.

Essay On Position Of Power
Power. The world has an absolute fascination with it, it seems that the only articles we see of late are
on someone in a position of power, from prostitution scandals to corruption allegations along with the
seemingly endless amounts of charges against corporate executives or world class athletes, headlines
these days are filled to the brim with the latest misstep of those in positions of power. So where did it
all go wrong? Through the many studies that psychologists have performed in the past, Dacher
Keltner from the University of California may have been the one which stumbled across the goldmine,
following a study where he performed a survey on freshmen at the start of the semester, asking them
to provide their first impressions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Keltner having noticed these findings came up with the observation that holding a seat of power is
an incredibly consistent effect, When you give people power, they basically start acting like fools.
They flirt inappropriately, tease in a hostile fashion, and become totally impulsive. nearly all men can
stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power quoted by Abraham Lincoln,
a man of immense power. No truer statement on power has been stated, power is an addictive idea,
drug like, drawing us in, seeping into our brains, latching hold and changing our decisions and morals.
It can change people for the better or for the worse, however at this point in time the latter is more
common than the former. The only conclusion we can make right now is that there is a cycle of power,
you start at the bottom, a receptionist maybe, intentions pure, you work hard and slowly find yourself
moving up the ranks, with each rank you move up, you find that there are more and more people in a
lower position who must answer to you and your mindset, your intentions, your characteristics ever so
slowly change and you become quick to anger, reckless and rude. The fact is, people become this way
because it won t threaten their position, had you been a receptionist, any behaviour like this would ve
resulted in being shown the door and a positive reference for your next job, if you re lucky. With the
idea that there

The Pros And Cons Of Slash And Burn
Slash and Burn
Slash and burn is the cutting down of trees and burning them before new seeds are sown so that a
particular piece of land can be cleared. This is a problem that has gone on since after the stone age,
this process makes the soil less fertile and its hard for more plants to grow and fruits and vegetables
we eat become harder to grow. The affected area will desertificate and nothing can grow there and the
damage is permanent or the farmers have to wait until the soil is fertile again but this can take a really

Gandhi Vs. Greek Heroes
The definition of heroes has been evolved variously through the ages. Greeks defined heroes as brave,
strong men or demigods who accomplished great quests during their lives. People nowadays may
define heroes as people who are changing the world to become a better place. A hero is someone who
has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.1 Both Greek heroes and modern day heroes
complete tasks which are nearly impossible for a normal human. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who
was the leader of activists in getting India independence from Britain, is a great hero to many people.
Although Gandhi and Greek heroes have many similar and different aspects about being a hero, there
are great reasons what make Gandhi superior.
Both Gandhi and Greek heroes have great perseverance and endurance to achieve their goals. Gandhi
was imprisoned many times in his life, but he never gave up, and tried his best to achieve India
Independence and peace. One of his great efforts is The Salt Satyagraha which he marched 200 miles
which was accompanied by thousands of people because the British imposed a tax on salt and made it
illegal for Indians to produce from sea water.2 Greek heroes also had great perseverance in completing
their quests. Jason, for example, complete a quest to get the Golden Fleece by enduring all difficulties
and dangers and Heracles also completed his twelve labors because of his great perseverance and
effort. Therefore, perseverance and hard work are important

The Narrative Paradigm
The narrative paradigm is a communication theory that argues the strengths of storytelling over
argumentative communication. Narrative is any verbal and nonverbal interpretation which is arranged
logically to generate a meaning. This communication process is influenced by the experiences and
other factors from the past. The concept upholds the idea that communication happens between a
narrator and the listener in the form of a story. The story includes the events that the narrator wants to
communicate with the listener and does not fit in a single category. The theory has several principals
and assumptions in support of its claim. The objective of this research essay is to discover the
importance of Walter Fisher s famous theory and how it can be used to solve real life problems. There
s been a recent increase in what critics are calling dark humor advertisement. Dark comedy is a comic
style that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered to be a taboo. Though the benefits
of advertising are widely recognized, some critics still question its ethicality. Historically, scholars
have criticized advertising for the way it influences our society primarily because of its potential
implications such as stereotyping, influence on children and sexual pre occupation. The theory of
narrative paradigm can be used as a perspective tool to evaluate potential moral and ethical issues in
advertisement, because it offers a series of criteria that reason with effective

Shirley Card Research Paper
Shirley Cards are color reference cards, specifically used to balance skin color, in print photography.
These cards are named after Shirley Page, the Kodak model which is depicted in the color comparison
prints distributed all over the world. Shirley Cards were used as the
standard that all other printed photographs would be compared to for decades.
In the photographs Shirley had blue eyes, pale skin, dark brown hair, and wore vibrant colored
ensembles. Later, when Shirley left Kodak other Caucasian models were brought in to replace her, but
the name Shirley Cards stuck. Any time a print was made Shirley Cards had to be taken into account.

Cards did not provide a broad enough range to properly depict skin tones of non Caucasian races. At
this time, film color both for print and motion pictures was all designed with high levels of reflectivity,
since Shirley s pale skin tone was recognized as the ideal
standard. This created an unfair biased toward white skin when it came to motion picture and
photography. People took notice and began to complain of over or under exposure in prints and scenes
of non Caucasians.
In the early 1990 s, Kodak and other print companies recognized their shortcomings and began to
redesign their Shirley Cards. They created multiracial color reference cards of African,
Asian, Latina, and Caucasian Shirley s to appropriately capture different skin tones. One of these cards
depicted an African women, a Caucasian women, and an Asian women posing together to exemplify
the difference in skin color of each. Today, labs can take this a step further, by creating custom color

SOUTH AFRICAN SLAM POETRY
Healing and entertaining people through rhythmic storytelling are the corner stone of slam poetry.
Slam poetry is a type of type poetry where people read their poems without props, costumes or music
(A Brief Guide to slam poetry. 2004). It is usually original work that talks about themes and subject
that people can relate to. Invented in the 1980s by a Chicago construction worker named March
Smith, it started as a form of storytelling and they used rhythm to make it entertaining (What is slam
poetry? .2013). The essay is about a South African poet Koleka Putuma within details about

Poem tittle: I am a performer
I am a performer, perfectly portraying the pain
Of people who are perpetrated, I dance for the dark man
Struggled, I sing with my voice so loud for the heroes of my land.
I feel the pain they felt as I say what they said and do what they did.
Why are you amazed by the way I curse so confidently?
Forgive me I m just a performer perfectly portraying the pain of those who were patronized.
I am dressed in the spirit of men and women who exist in imaginative
People s minds, just a character, even sometimes I feel not real but it s the love that keeps me
believing, am I not the gift that keeps on giving? These steps I walk on stage have meaning.
Sometimes I swear at God, forgive me if I m sinning but I m just a performer who perfectly
Portray the pride of the people who perished.
Reciting the world s feelings, their sadness
I keep healing, see I m not always sad and angry sometimes I leave them laughing because I am a
comedian. Am not amazing? I hold the Earth s emotions I say words that move nations, sometimes I
am silent but they can hear me, because the pandemonium in my heart says everything. Can t you see I

Insensitive Portrayal of Society and Cultuer in Disney Films
The Not So Wonderful World of Disney
The Wonderful World of Disney has been a part of America for as long as I can remember. With its
movies, television shows, songs, theme parks, toys, and fictional characters,
Disney is the epitome of children s entertainment. Disney serves as one of the largest sources of
entertainment to Americans, which is why it reigns as a commercial success and influence in our
country. According to Henry Giroux, a popular critic of the Walt Disney Company, Disney s immense
success also represents the power of the culture industries to mediate and influence almost every
aspect of our lives (19). However, does Disney stand for pure and innocent entertainment, or does it
carry alternative motives that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Males are usually the heroes, the villains, and the parent figures in Disney movies. If men are always
the heroes, then women are always the ones who have to be rescued. Females in Disney films lack the
ability to save their own lives. The negative influence comes with males who play the typical bad guy
roles. Faherty explains that the prevalence of males in villainous roles
should be analyzed for its potential negative impact on children and their relationships with caring
male adults (19). Along with heroes and villains, males seem to dominate the parent figures as well. In
her book Deconstructing Disney, Eleanor Byrne explains the phenomena that the female characters in
most Disney movies typically exist as teenaged girls with no mother.
She points out that in the instance of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Ariel s mother is
never mentioned, neither is Belle s; in subsequent films, Princess Jasmine is motherless in Aladdin,
Pocahontas bonds with her father by grieving over her dead mother, and
Quasimodo s mother dies on the steps of Notre Dame in the opening sequence of The
Hunchback of Notre Dame (Byrne 66 67). All of these examples illustrate the presence of teenaged
girls who build relationships with their fathers but are left to grow without a mother.
Some critics argue that children do not learn the proper value of a mother from viewing Disney
movies such as these.

Patient With Chest Pain
Chest pain can be one of the most frightening medical conditions to both the patients and the health
care practitioners. To most patients and healthcare providers, a chest pain can signify mostly an MI
while a chest pain can be non cardiac related issues. To better taking care of anyone who complains of
a chest pain, the first intervention would be the MONA: morphine, oxygen, nitroglycerin and aspirin
intervention. The next step is to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) done, and ABG, and a chest X ray.
In addition, the thyroid function level and the laboratory blood work would be ordered. According to
Buttaro, et al. (2013), other diagnosis exams that can be ordered as part of the care plan for this patient
can include complete blood counts (CBC), cardiac markers (creatine kinase [CK], CK MB, and
troponin levels), electrolytes (magnesium, potassium, and sodium), serum glucose, BUN, creatinine,

Essay on Lab Report Kinetics of Chemical Reactions
Lab Report Kinetics of Chemical Reactions Kinetics of chemical reactions is how fast a reaction
occurs and determining how the presence of reactants affects reaction rates. In this experiment the rate
of reaction for Fe+3 and I is determined. Because the rate of chemical reactions relates directly to
concentration of reactants, the rate law is used to find the rate constant, and calculated with specified
temperatures. Two catalyst reactants are used in the experiment, thiosulfate and starch, to dictate the
time of reactions. The order with respect to Fe+3 and I is also determined by graphing the slope of the
log rate initial as a function of the log (Fe+3) or (I ). The activation energy is also graphed with the

Are Common Core Standards Positively Affect Student Test...
Literature Review: Positivity of Common Core Standards
A literature review discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes the
information in a particular subject area within a certain time frame (The Writing Center, 2014). A
literature review will almost always have an organized pattern and will combine both summary and
synthesis (The Writing Center, 2014). Why are literature reviews written? The answer is
straightforward; they provide a handy guide to a particular topic (The Writing Center, 2014).
According The Writing Center at The University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill (2014) sometimes a
researcher will not have time to conduct a predominant search of a topic; this makes literature reviews
relevant because they give an overview or act as a stepping stone. This essay will provide a literature
review for the research question: Do Common Core standards positively affect student test scores?
Uncertainties in the Research Many uncertainties arise when doing research; it is important to read
various articles and look for gaps or ambiguities so see what needs to be focused on. For example,
reading through four to five articles about the positivity Common Core has on student test scores did
not provide a great deal of information about the positivity theses standards have on scores. The
articles provide information describing what Common Core does who and what it affects, as well as
more negativity than positivity. The articles also provide

Benefits Of Absentee Voting
Absentee Ballot Absentee ballots became big in the 2016 presidential election. There were nearly
78,000 returning ballots for the state of South Carolina in the Republican and Democratic parties.
These numbers were double the numbers of the 2008 elections, which was also marked as a record
high turnout. Absentee ballots are used by an immense number of Americans in our society today. The
absentee ballot process is quick and easy and benefits everyone who is eligible for the ballot.
Continuing this, an absentee ballot, as said in class, is a ballot that is mailed to voters who are unable
to attend the polls. The absentee ballot process gives people who are unable to present themselves at
the polls a chance to express their feelings by voting on which candidate they may pursue in. Voters
may be eligible for an absentee ballot if they are going out of the state on say a vacation, if they are
disabled and cannot attend the polls, if they are of age, ect... The absentee ballot process wants to
make it possible for people unable to attend the polls, to vote. On the ballot the voters will pick which
candidate that they feel is fit for the job and then they will send the ballot back in. Everyone who is

the people have to do is check out the boxes and then send the ballot back in. No one has to even leave
their house to vote in an election if they are voting by absentee ballot. For example, if someone is
seventy eight years of age and in a wheel chair they may apply for absentee ballot. The person in the
wheel chair cannot drive himself to the polls and vote that way, but he can use an absentee ballot and
vote from his house. This is a prime example of why I believe that the absentee ballot is a brilliant
way for people who are unable to attend the polls, to

An extremely important era in the history of America was the Colonial Settlements. During this time
Spain had most of the control of the recently founded land in America and controlled many ports

Isis And Many Terrorist Groups

Research Paper ISIS and many terrorist groups have been recently attacking at will throughout the
entire world. The terrorist group of ISIS is the biggest and most widely known terrorist group recently.
One of the biggest controversial arguments today is if the United States should go to war with terrorist
groups such as ISIS and others. I believe that the best solution to this argument is to not go to war with
terrorist groups or ISIS just yet. Within the past couple of years, the terrorist group of ISIS has made
them well known and kept the world into a state of fear and terror when it comes to terrorist attacks.
One of the biggest controversial arguments currently has to do with the United States going to war
with the terrorist group of ISIS. I believe that the United States shouldn t go to war with ISIS, or just
not yet. I believe that if they decide to fight a ground war with ISIS or these certain terrorist groups,
they will be blindly moving into their territory. The last time that the United States decided to rush
into a blind fight, not knowing what was coming, they got taken down in the war in Vietnam. If the
United States dies decide to fight in these ground wars against the terrorist groups they will not know
what is coming and will have to blindly fight at risk of losing a lot of soldiers in the end of the war.
Another reason that the United States should not go to war with ISIS in general is

Character Analysis Of Gone By Michael Grant
It is a well known fact that a persons environment develops his character. Many people react in
different ways when tragedy strikes. Often during the most difficult situations, a persons true character
is magnified. The children of Perdido Beach lived a relatively normal life, until a radioactive
explosion took the lives of everyone over the age of fourteen. In Gone, Michael Grant uses cultural,
physical, and geographical surroundings to shape the psychological and moral traits of his characters
as they try to save the small town of Perdido Beach, California.
In his novel, Grant uses culture to shape the moral traits of Sam and Drake. As Sam, Astrid, Little
Pete, Lana, Quinn, and Edilio trekked through the woods, Drake and Caine followed them in a SUV.
Drake climbs out of the vehicle and pulls a gun to Astrid s head, but quickly decides to go after Sam,
instead. Drake strikes Sam on the head with the gun and knocks him to the ground. As Sam is lying
face down in the dirt, Drake places the barrel of the gun against the back of his knee and shoots him.
Drake then fires the gun at Astrid s autistic brother, Little Pete, but fortunately, his aim was off. Grant
writes, Drake s arm, the entire arm holding the gun, burst into flame (406). Drake and Caine were not
aware of Sam s special powers. Like Bette, Sam can shoot fire out of his hands. While Drake was

Pros And Cons Of Uncorroborated Evidence
Firstly, uncorroborated evidence reduces the rate of perpetrators escaping from conviction. It is
pertinent to note that in most of the sexual assault cases where the child is the victim, there is often
little or no physical evidence. The child and the accused are likely to be the only witnesses. Due to the
requirement of corroborated evidence, where in fact, there is none, it had undoubtedly led to many
perpetrators escaping conviction as the alleged victim, the child s evidence is not corroborated and
there was nothing else to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. With the newly implemented section
where there is no requirement of corroborated evidence, the judge has the opportunity to consider the
child s uncorroborated evidence and able to access the weight to be accorded to such evidence in the
particular case. The weight is to be attached to the evidence or testimony of the child and is to be
assessed by the trier of fact but not the rigid requirement of corroborated evidence.
Besides, without the need of corroborated evidence, it is said to be more flexible compared to
requiring the corroborated evidence. The court is such situation will consider the facts and the
testimony of the child witness before convicting the defendant. Likewise, when corroboration is ...

Essential Component Of Public Infrastructure
Introduction
Concrete is one of the essential component of public infrastructure and most buildings. It can only be
more effective if we used reinforcement with it, because tensile strength without reinforcement is very
low. It usually get cracked with time as it is brittle in property. There are some more causes of these
cracks are shrinkage, inadequate water for hydration... etc. these cracks causes reinforcement exposes
to atmosphere now reinforcement come into contact of O2 H2O. That can cause corrosion which
results in weaken of structure. That being said concrete is a high maintenance material. Concrete
cracks and suffer wear and tear. Concrete is not as much flexible that it can handle significant amount
of strain. These problems occurs due to Standard Concrete can be solved by self healing bacterial

According to ROA, ANZ s profitability fell short of Westpac s by 0.146%, with the ROA percentage at
0.95% and 1.096% respectively (Appendix A). The difference in profits is caused by Westpac s
substantially higher total assets, which outweigh ANZ s by $75,740,000. Although ANZ has a greater
level of liquid assets, Westpac s substantially higher loan portfolios generate higher returns. The lower
ROA is caused by ANZ s interest bearing assets under performing, or carrying lower risks leading to
lower yields, or a greater reliance upon non interest bearing assets. ROE is linked to ROA through the
EM.
ANZ s 2011 EM was 15.62x, slightly higher than Westpac s 15.35x, suggesting ANZ s assets are
funded by more debt than Westpac, this combined with lower returns is usually indicative of a low
performing institution (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). Further decomposition leads to
analysis of the Expense ratio (ER) and Asset Utilisation (AU).
ANZ s overall ER of 4.99% is relatively lower than Westpac s at 5.36% (Appendix A) supporting the
earlier conclusion that ANZ s lower ROA is caused by lower earning interest bearing assets rather than
an inability to control expenses (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). ANZ s lower ER can be
attributed to its considerably lower Interest Expense (IE) percentage, 3.35% compared with Westpac s
4.05% (Appendix A), suggesting that, during

James Madison And Federalist Paper No
Although James Madison despised factions as explained in Federalist Paper No. 10, Madison believed
factions were an essential part of government, that needed to be revised through careful governmental
intervention. Madison was careful to ensure his vision for the country s future would protect the given
right to liberty; therefore he found in the Constitution multiple outlets for these factions to dissolve.
However, the government itself was corrupt so the three branches had to be separated to prevent
tyranny and be successful in stopping the dangerous factions. Therefore, in Federalist Papers No. 10
and No. 51, Madison would outline his goals for creating a more cohesive country. A faction by
definition is a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one, especially in politics. These
groups are often wound together based off some principle they believe relates to them in some way or
another. Madison thought most factions existed through unequal property distribution. Few individuals
had a large majority of property while most had little property and others having none at all. Madison
even said in Federalist Paper No. 10, Those who hold and those who are without property have ever
formed a distinct interest in society (Madison, 1787). This interest he was referring to was how often
these two classes of people were discriminated; the discrimination being labeled as rich or poor.
Madison felt through the unequal property and the weak governmental

In his article What Mary Didn t Know Frank Jackson comes up with a convincing argument, which

argument, specifically his second premise, and whether or not his conclusion follows it. I will also

Physicalism is the idea that the physical facts are all of the facts; which implies that if you know all of
the physical facts you know all facts. Physicalism is a type of substance monism and there are several
different kinds of physicalism, but it is not necessary to go into the specifics because Jackson targets

Gran Torino Thesis Statement

be very difficult to find someone who has not heard of the American dream. Although most people
have heard of the American dream, if you were to ask a couple people what the phrase means to them,
there would probably be very different responses. With all the various interpretations of the American

the phrase. However, no film better portrays what the American dream is than Gran Torino. Thesis: In

The Effect Of Sodium Chloride On The Germination Rate Of...
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on the
germination rate of Wisconsin Fast Plants.
Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed
through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life cycle of
around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In addition, WFPs
are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive (Williams). Their simple
needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in experiments.
Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the
seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water. Then,
the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and leaves
develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The Learning
Garden 2001).
NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and
germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species ability
to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called glycophytes,
meaning that they have a limited ability to tolerate NaCl (Atkins et al. 2009). A study specific to WFP
germination found a decrease in germination in WFPs

Treating an open bite malocclusion is challenging, as it requires a high patient compliance and good orthodontist knowledge and experience, which could be decisive in choosing a suitable treatment plan. • 5. Examples Of Rapport And Empathy Angelica Lai Discussion #2: Empathy and Rapport Building rapport and empathy with clients is extremely important no matter what the job is. As mentioned throughout this module, empathy and rapport fuel the relationship between people. My previous work experience includes working at a movie theatre and hospital security. Both jobs required rapport and empathy as these jobs required serving the public. However, even though the jobs itself were different, both had the same underlying task, which is working with people. Working at the movie theatre, it is directed to more of a customer service job, where often the guests get upset over issues we as the employee do not understand. After reading the content in Module 2, I have seen skills I use, but also new skills I am going to incorporate. One suggestions I am going to incorporate is the acronym E.M.P.A.T.H.Y. from the Ted Talk by Helen Riess (2013). The reason being that, this is an easy acronym to remember and apply when building both rapport and empathy. I will need to practice this for a while, but as soon as I get it right, it will be an easy guideline to help build that connection with others. Another skill, which was explained in this module was the power of powerless communication from the Ted Talk by Adam Grant (2013). In a security position it is often explained to talk with assertiveness, but sometimes this backfires as the client becomes more aggressive. By applying the concepts of tentative talking, it may help build that rapport and empathy as it shows a more humanistic side. I think it is important that we show our humanistic side, as many individuals just see the uniform and not the person wearing it. By applying these skills, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How has this challenge affected your academic achievement? Most children grow up fearing the dark or scary monsters in the closet. I grew up fearing my dad and his alcoholism. When I was in the third grade, my dad always drove me home from school, and I prayed to God every day that he would be sober. His breath always reeked of alcohol, and his eyes were constantly bloodshot red. One of my students, Kyle, was a 10 year old boy who struggles with dyslexia. Words that were simple for others his age to read were difficult for him to understand. From this, I understood the importance of having patience and multiple perspectives. Every day, I helped Kyle with his homework, and every day I saw the frustration on his face when he had difficulty reading. I learned to have patience with not only with him but also myself. I had to put myself in Kyle s shoes and try not to get frustrated when he couldn t read a word in order to find the best method of teaching him. Over time, his reading improved and he slowly was able to differentiate his letters. He no longer confused his d s with his b s and his q s with his p s. With this, Kyle made me realize that I was making a difference in someone else s life as well as my own by opening my eyes to the possibility of working with children in the future. The first documentation of the game came from a Jesuit Missionary in the mid 1600s making it the oldest game in North America. It is believed to have developed around 1100 AD. Competitions were major events that could go on for days and involve 100 to 1,000 men. The rules were agreed upon the day before the competition was scheduled to begin. Today the rules of the game have been codified to help prevent any confusion. The sport of Lacrosse is played by both men s and women s teams. The rules for each are similar, but there are differences. For example, body checking is illegal in the women s game. That is why the amount of protective equipment in the women s game is far less than that for the men s game. The men s game uses ten players while the women s game uses 12 players. Women s sticks cannot have mesh for the pockets, and the ball must be located above the sidewall every time it is in the pocket. • 13. The Method Of Second Language Acquisition Krashen used the natural approach to explain the process of second language acquisition. Krashen s model basically consists of two parts. In the first part, the language acquisition device the comprehensible input triggered and this starts children s language development. This process is affected by the anxiety factor, which he called affective filter. In the second part, the acquired language combined with the intentional learning result in the language output. In this process, the intentional learning monitors students output. Specifically speaking, his model proposes that a low affective filter or a low anxiety is good for children s acquisition. He further believes that the learned knowledge hinders our acquisition and needs to be avoided (Brown, 2014). This argument indicates that teachers had better avoid such monitoring as correcting students responses since it hinders students acquisition. Also, Krashen argues that it is good for children to acquire the language subconsciously. Besides, he asserts that children follow a natural order to acquire the rules of the language. In Bialystok s model classified knowledge into explicit linguistic knowledge, implicit linguistic knowledge and general knowledge. Bialystok s model consists of four learning strategies, which are formal practicing, functional practicing, inferencing and monitoring ((O Malley, J. M., Chamot, 1990). Greeks defined heroes as brave, strong men or demigods who accomplished great quests during their lives. People nowadays may define heroes as people who are changing the world to become a better place. A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.1 Both Greek heroes and modern day heroes complete tasks which are nearly impossible for a normal human. The story includes the events that the narrator wants to communicate with the listener and does not fit in a single category. Females in Disney films lack the ability to save their own lives. The negative influence comes with males who play the typical bad guy roles. Faherty explains that the prevalence of males in villainous roles should be analyzed for its potential negative impact on children and their relationships with caring male adults (19). Along with heroes and villains, males seem to dominate the parent figures as well. In her book Deconstructing Disney, Eleanor Byrne explains the phenomena that the female characters in most Disney movies typically exist as teenaged girls with no mother. She points out that in the instance of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, Ariel s mother is never mentioned, neither is Belle s; in subsequent films, Princess Jasmine is motherless in Aladdin, Pocahontas bonds with her father by grieving over her dead mother, and Quasimodo s mother dies on the steps of Notre Dame in the opening sequence of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Byrne 66 67). To most patients and healthcare providers, a chest pain can signify mostly an MI while a chest pain can be non cardiac related issues. To better taking care of anyone who complains of a chest pain, the first intervention would be the MONA: morphine, oxygen, nitroglycerin and aspirin intervention. The next step is to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) done, and ABG, and a chest X ray. In addition, the thyroid function level and the laboratory blood work would be ordered. According to Buttaro, et al. (2013), other diagnosis exams that can be ordered as part of the care plan for this patient can include complete blood counts (CBC), cardiac markers (creatine kinase [CK], CK MB, and troponin levels), electrolytes (magnesium, potassium, and sodium), serum glucose, BUN, creatinine, urinalysis, and coagulation panel. Essay on Lab Report Kinetics of Chemical Reactions Lab Report Kinetics of Chemical Reactions Kinetics of chemical reactions is how fast a reaction occurs and determining how the presence of reactants affects reaction rates. In this experiment the rate of reaction for Fe+3 and I is determined. Because the rate of chemical reactions relates directly to concentration of reactants, the rate law is used to find the rate constant, and calculated with specified temperatures. Two catalyst reactants are used in the experiment, thiosulfate and starch, to dictate the time of reactions. The order with respect to Fe+3 and I is also determined by graphing the slope of the log rate initial as a function of the log (Fe+3) or (I ). • 28. Are Common Core Standards Positively Affect Student Test... Literature Review: Positivity of Common Core Standards A literature review discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes the information in a particular subject area within a certain time frame (The Writing Center, 2014). A literature review will almost always have an organized pattern and will combine both summary and synthesis (The Writing Center, 2014). Why are literature reviews written? The answer is straightforward; they provide a handy guide to a particular topic (The Writing Center, 2014). According The Writing Center at The University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill (2014) sometimes a researcher will not have time to conduct a predominant search of a topic; this makes literature reviews relevant because they give an overview or act as a stepping stone. This essay will provide a literature review for the research question: Do Common Core standards positively affect student test scores? Uncertainties in the Research Many uncertainties arise when doing research; it is important to read various articles and look for gaps or ambiguities so see what needs to be focused on. For example, reading through four to five articles about the positivity Common Core has on student test scores did not provide a great deal of information about the positivity theses standards have on scores. The articles provide information describing what Common Core does who and what it affects, as well as more negativity than positivity. The articles also provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were nearly 78,000 returning ballots for the state of South Carolina in the Republican and Democratic parties. These numbers were double the numbers of the 2008 elections, which was also marked as a record high turnout. Absentee ballots are used by an immense number of Americans in our society today. The absentee ballot process is quick and easy and benefits everyone who is eligible for the ballot. The terrorist group of ISIS is the biggest and most widely known terrorist group recently. One of the biggest controversial arguments today is if the United States should go to war with terrorist groups such as ISIS and others. I believe that the best solution to this argument is to not go to war with terrorist groups or ISIS just yet. One of the biggest controversial arguments currently has to do with the United States going to war with the terrorist group of ISIS. Often during the most difficult situations, a persons true character is magnified. The children of Perdido Beach lived a relatively normal life, until a radioactive explosion took the lives of everyone over the age of fourteen. In Gone, Michael Grant uses cultural, physical, and geographical surroundings to shape the psychological and moral traits of his characters as they try to save the small town of Perdido Beach, California. In his novel, Grant uses culture to shape the moral traits of Sam and Drake. As Sam, Astrid, Little Pete, Lana, Quinn, and Edilio trekked through the woods, Drake and Caine followed them in a SUV. Drake climbs out of the vehicle and pulls a gun to Astrid s head, but quickly decides to go after Sam, instead. Drake strikes Sam on the head with the gun and knocks him to the ground. As Sam is lying face down in the dirt, Drake places the barrel of the gun against the back of his knee and shoots him. Drake then fires the gun at Astrid s autistic brother, Little Pete, but fortunately, his aim was off. Grant writes, Drake s arm, the entire arm holding the gun, burst into flame (406). • 35. Pros And Cons Of Uncorroborated Evidence Firstly, uncorroborated evidence reduces the rate of perpetrators escaping from conviction. It is pertinent to note that in most of the sexual assault cases where the child is the victim, there is often little or no physical evidence. The child and the accused are likely to be the only witnesses. Due to the requirement of corroborated evidence, where in fact, there is none, it had undoubtedly led to many perpetrators escaping conviction as the alleged victim, the child s evidence is not corroborated and there was nothing else to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. With the newly implemented section where there is no requirement of corroborated evidence, the judge has the opportunity to consider the child s uncorroborated evidence and able to access the weight to be accorded to such evidence in the particular case. The weight is to be attached to the evidence or testimony of the child and is to be assessed by the trier of fact but not the rigid requirement of corroborated evidence. According to ROA, ANZ s profitability fell short of Westpac s by 0.146%, with the ROA percentage at 0.95% and 1.096% respectively (Appendix A). The difference in profits is caused by Westpac s substantially higher total assets, which outweigh ANZ s by $75,740,000. Although ANZ has a greater level of liquid assets, Westpac s substantially higher loan portfolios generate higher returns. The lower ROA is caused by ANZ s interest bearing assets under performing, or carrying lower risks leading to lower yields, or a greater reliance upon non interest bearing assets. ROE is linked to ROA through the EM. ANZ s 2011 EM was 15.62x, slightly higher than Westpac s 15.35x, suggesting ANZ s assets are funded by more debt than Westpac, this combined with lower returns is usually indicative of a low performing institution (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). Further decomposition leads to analysis of the Expense ratio (ER) and Asset Utilisation (AU). ANZ s overall ER of 4.99% is relatively lower than Westpac s at 5.36% (Appendix A) supporting the earlier conclusion that ANZ s lower ROA is caused by lower earning interest bearing assets rather than an inability to control expenses (Koch amp; MacDonald, 2010, pg. 122). ANZ s lower ER can be attributed to its considerably lower Interest Expense (IE) percentage, 3.35% compared with Westpac s 4.05% (Appendix A), suggesting that, during ... James Madison And Federalist Paper No Although James Madison despised factions as explained in Federalist Paper No. 10, Madison believed factions were an essential part of government, that needed to be revised through careful governmental intervention. Madison was careful to ensure his vision for the country s future would protect the given right to liberty; therefore he found in the Constitution multiple outlets for these factions to dissolve. However, the government itself was corrupt so the three branches had to be separated to prevent tyranny and be successful in stopping the dangerous factions. Therefore, in Federalist Papers No. 10 and No. 51, Madison would outline his goals for creating a more cohesive country. A faction by definition is a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one, especially in politics. These groups are often wound together based off some principle they believe relates to them in some way or another. Madison thought most factions existed through unequal property distribution. Few individuals had a large majority of property while most had little property and others having none at all. Madison even said in Federalist Paper No. 10, Those who hold and those who are without property have ever formed a distinct interest in society (Madison, 1787). This interest he was referring to was how often these two classes of people were discriminated; the discrimination being labeled as rich or poor. • 42. The Effect Of Sodium Chloride On The Germination Rate Of... Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on the germination rate of Wisconsin Fast Plants. Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life cycle of around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In addition, WFPs are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive (Williams). Their simple needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in experiments. Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water. Then, the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and leaves develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The Learning Garden 2001). NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species ability to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called glycophytes, meaning that they have a limited ability to tolerate NaCl (Atkins et al. 2009). A study specific to WFP germination found a decrease in germination in WFPs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
