The Importance Of Religious Education In Contemporary...
Religion. Such a short and simple term, although it signifies more than the mind could comprehend.
Religion brings communities together but has the potential to tear them apart. Should we educate
our nation s young minds on religion, or is it a thing of the past? Should we, as future educators, try
to incorporate faithand morals into everyday lessons? These are all questions in which we must ask
ourselves in order to efficiently answer the question of Does Religious Educationremain relevant in
Contemporary Society?
Religious Education, often abbreviated to RE , is a subject like no other. It is one where
children and young people engage in a search for meaning, value and purpose in life. 1 The
United Kingdom is such a culturally diverse nation and, for many citizens, Religious Education
and practice are vital in order for them to live their chosen lives of faith. So, why should their
children be deprived of being given the materials and in class encouragement that would be
instrumental in order to develop their own beliefs, morals and Religious values?
CFE RME: Principles and Practice and CFE RME: Experiences and Outcomes are two critical
documents to support and enhance our understanding of the importance of Religious Education, not
only in the Curriculum, but in the wider community and in every day life. As previously
mentioned, our nation is so rich in cultural variety and many agree that it is vital for learners to
learn to appreciate and celebrate diversity

Cuba And Embargo Essay example
Cuba and the Affects of the Embargo The island nation of Cuba, located just ninety miles off the
coast of Florida, is home to 11 million people and has one of the few remaining communist
regimes in the world. Cuba s leader, Fidel Castro, came to power in 1959 and immediately
instituted a communist program of sweeping economic and social changes. Castroallied his
government with the Soviet Union and seized and nationalized billions of dollars of American
property. U.S. relationswith Cuba have been strained ever since. A trade embargo against Cuba that
was imposed in 1960 is still in place today. Despite severe economic suffering and increasing
isolation from the world community, Castro remains committed to communism. (Close Up... Show

Supporters of the legislation believe that prohibiting foreign investment will quicken Castro s
downfall. (Close Up Foundation) Many debate on the issue of why the U.S. should or shouldn t
keep the ebargo against Cuba. These debates deal with the effects of the Embargo on Cuba s
economy, humanitarian rights and health of the people of Cuba. The embargo today places a ban
on subsidiary trade, Licensing, shipping and humanitarian aid. (Close Up Foundation) In 1992,
the Cuban Democracy act imposed a ban on subsidiary trade with Cuba. This ban restricted Cuba
s ability to import medicines and medical supplies from third country sources. There have also
been corporate buy outs and mergers between U.S. and European pharmaceutical companies thus
adding to the number of companies permitted to do business with Cuba. Under the Cuban
Democracy Act, The U.S. Treasury and Commerce Departments are allowed to license individual
sales of medicines and medical supplies, supposedly for humanitarian reasons to make up for the
embargo s impact on health care delivery. According to the U.S. corporate executives, the
licensing provisions are so tough as to have had the opposite effect. With this statement, it is
assumed that there are fewer licenses given out for humanitarian reason therefore favoring the
embargo and aiding in the downfall of health in Cuba. Since 1992, the embargo has prohibited
ships from loading or unloading cargo in U.S. ports for 180 days after

Civil Law
Civil law (common law)
Civil law is the branch of law dealing with disputes between individuals or organizations, in which
compensation may be awarded to the victim. For instance, if a car crash victim claims damages
against the driver for loss or injury sustained in an accident, this will be a civil law case.[1] Civil
law differs from criminal law, whose emphasis is more on punishment than in dispute resolution.
The law relating to civil wrongs and quasi contract is part of the civil law.[2]
Overview
In the common law, civil law is the area of laws and justice that affect the legal status of
individuals. Civil law, in this sense, is usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge
madedecisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that
it is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial
precedent).[1][2]
Historically, civil law existed in the times of Ancient Egypt and it is the group of legal ideas and
systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Germanic, canon
law, feudal, and local practices,[3] as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and
legislative positivism.
Conceptually, civil law proceeds from abstractions, formulates general principles, and distinguishes
substantive rules from procedural rules.[4] It holds case law to be secondary and subordinate to
statutory law, and the court system is usuallyinquisitorial, unbound by precedent, and composed of
specially trained judicial officers with a limited authority to interpret law.Juries separate from the
judges are not used, although in some cases, benches may be sat by lay judges alongside legally
trained career judges.
Overview
The purpose of codification is to provide all citizens with an accessible and written collection of
the laws which apply to them and which judges must follow. It is the most widespread system

Absurdism In The Stranger
Albert Camus utilizes an existential philosophy, absurdism, in his story, The Stranger . Absurdism
is when humans live meaningless lives in an irrational universe. Meursault, the protagonist in The
Stranger , has an absurdist view to life, which the story revolves around. Meursault s unique view
of life is unique and different from the ethics of the society. Absurdismplays a key role in Meursault
s life as the absurd suninfluences his actions while his absurdist philosophies make him a stranger
to society. The absurd sun physically weakens Meursault leading him to make irrational decisions.
The sun is symbolic in The Strangeras it presents the irrationality in Meursault s universe. The sun
is a recurring symbol in the story and the first instance where it displays the irrationality in
Meursault s world is when Meursault is faced with the Arab at the beach as the sun was starting
to burn [his] cheeks, and [he] could feel drops of sweat...It was this burning that made [him]
move forward (58). Meursault encounters the Arab and the intense weather dictates his actions
and makes Meursault think irrationally. The use of the words made him show how the sun
dictates his actions, which is completely irrational. When Meursault is physically weakened in
any form he thinks irrationally. In this case, the sun weakens him physically as it is burning and
leads him to step forward thinking he could get the sun off of him, which is irrational. The
irrationality of the weather dictating Meursault s actions is absurdism. As Meursault makes his
journey to the Arabs at the spring he realizes that all [he] had to do was turn around and that
would be the end of it. But, the whole beach, throbbing in the sun, was pressing on [his] back.
[He] took a few steps toward the spring (58). Meursault is aware that all he needs to do is turn
back; however he takes a few steps forward showing how the sun dictates his actions. Furthermore,
Meursault is physically weakened as the intense heat was pressing on his back leading to his
irrational thought to disregard his mind and move forward. Throughout the story, Meursault is
constantly led into irrational thought when physically weakened. An absurdist world is defined to
be one

Athanasius s Doctrine Of Arius
When it came time for Athanasius, the deacon, to counterargue Arius s doctrine, he was first met
with discrimination and disrespect due to his position as a deacon. Nonetheless, he began by
defending Christ s divinity. He stated in the council that Christ was not created by God by using
the evidence from the Gospel of Saint John, In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) By this verse, Athanasius explained that the Word was Jesus
Christ, he was already with the Father from the beginning of time, the only thing that makes him
different was that he was born of the Virgin Saint Mary and have taken part of humanity. Further
on, Athanasius quoted another verse from the Gospel of Saint John that... Show more content on

They voted on whether the council preferred Arius doctrine was correct or Athanasius s doctrine.
The votes were gathered and it was clear that Athanasius s depiction of Christ s divinity and
humanity was the correct doctrine. The council then had to ensure that there wouldn t be another
heresy like Arius again in the Christian Church, so the Council of Nicaea created the Nicaean
Creed which emphasizes Christ s divinity with the Father but with taking part of humanity. The
Nicaean Creed was also made to strengthen the faith of the Christian Church and to always remind
the that Jesus has a divinity. The Nicaean Creed can be found in many of the Orthodox Christian
Churches which state, We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ... light of light, true God of God,
begotten not created, with one essence with the Father, (Schaff, 126). With the Creed being created
this eventually lead to the end of the Arius heresy that almost would have ended the Christian
religion. The believers realizes that if per impossible the Church had not there and then set forth in
plainest terms the Catholic Faith as expressed in the Nicene Creed, the Christian Faith would have
perished miserably. (Pope,

A Common Problem Faced By Immigrants Essay
Recent happenings around the world have brought the subject of migration to the forefront of
everyday conversation. However, the migration phenomenon is not a new one but can be traced as
far back as human history itself. In some way, migration can be seen as an innate part of animal
behavior and the human experience. Historically, several push and pull factors have forced several
groups to move across the globe in the hopes of improving their situations. However, the
circumstances surrounding one s migration to a new place differs for each individual. Apart from
the political and economic strife of migration to a different country, immigrants and refugees are
left with the added struggle of maintaining their social identity, culture, and kinship when
acclimating to a new environment.
In order to properly explain this topic, I draw on the information from several articles, lectures,
films, and interviews I have conducted with close family and friends.
A common problem faced by immigrants is social identity. Social identity refers to the need to
identify as a member of a group and not merely as an individual. Man is a social being and being
able to identify with a group helps in giving a sense of belonging, developing self esteem and a
sense of pride. Social identity and sense of self are therefore important to an individual s well
being. As a member of a group, every individual performs the role(s) and expectations of that group.
However, intersectional identities exist

Charleston s Water Pollution
Going to the beach is always a fun way to spend an afternoon, but how would people feel if the
next time they tried to catch a wave they were hit with plastic bottles and styrofoam. Charleston is
such a beautiful city but, the harbor is overcome with pollution. This Pollution travels to the oceans
and to the shores of South Carolina s beaches. The water is affecting Charleston s harbor but
household water, local businesses, and marine life in the area. Water pollutionshould not be looked
over and needs to be taken care of before it gets worse. More and more ways are being discovered
to help treat water pollution around the world, but what needs to happen is to stop the pollution.

The litter has put the animals at such high risk of danger that most of these species are now
endangered. Some ways the animals are harmed are suffocating on plastic bags, getting trapped in
bottle holders, or being poisoned by the toxins in some litter.
These fish becoming poisoned by the toxins can carry disease and end up on your plate. Local
seafood restaurants or grocery stores cannot tell if the fish they serve to you has been affected by
the hazardous pollution. The fishermen that catch the fish locally cannot see a difference between
the diseased fish and normal ones either so the pollution in the community deposits into the harbor
can come right back. The local population also drinks the water that has been filtered and
sometimes contains dangerous minerals. This water runs through showers and faucets in homes
that people use every day.
These reasons all concern the local community and they should because water pollution is a
serious problem and if people do not take action immediately than Charleston s water could
become a wasteland instead of a fun afternoon. Most people believe that the pollution is too much
for them to handle, but there are multiple ways everyone can get involved and help out the
community. Dozens of volunteers filled burlap sacks with frayed rope, empty liquor bottles,
flattened drink cups, and fragmented pieces of plastic that were pulled from the marsh (Elmore 1).

One of the most common basic differences is that the patron client organization is more often
associated with breaking the law while the bureaucratic type of organization strictly abides by
the law and tries to enforce it (Albanese, 2010). In the patron client model, there is always one
individual at the top, leading the whole organization who is commonly referred to as the boss .
This type of organization is characterized by a kind of structure where it resembles a family that
is neatly and tightly bound together by loyalty and trust to each other (McIllwain, 2005). The
boss , patron in this case, main role is to aid the client in either economic or security in terms of

The Future Of Autonomous Cars
IntroductionAutonomous cars are going to be a reality on people s routines in a near future
when the first units starts to being sold, however the unmanned technology is far from being a
recent discovery. Researches have been conducted on the past 90 years when the american army
started to assembly flying bombs equipped with gyroscopes and barometers as components of a
navigation system. Ever since, the unmanned technology has evolved in a tremendous way, and
after the first GPS satellite launch in 1978, vehicles can rely on a navigation systems that is
reliable and has coverage all over the globe. The air transportation system has taken advantage of
this technology for navigation and air traffic control as the demand for this kind of transport has
increased and so did the number of airplanes in the sky. The automatic pilot is enabled as every
airliner reaches the cruise altitude, which makes it a semi autonomous vehicle that relies on
sensor and GPS navigation to reach it s destination. Autonomous cars nowadays are being
developed by companies such as Google, Audi, Toyota, General Motors and others, and
prototypes are now being tested and improved before the introduction on the market.

Socrates s Views On Philosophy And It s Influences...
Perhaps in the present moment, there would have been no such information on philosophy and it s
influences without the existence of Socrates. Socrates was an individual who was acknowledged as
an eminent philosopher. We have received his intelligence from others who have documented his
speeches, due to the fact that in the past, he had not personally recorded himself. I find it rather
intriguing that despite the fact that Socrates, alongside his pupils, have endured life many years
ago, it is still pertinent in todays society. I have appointed myself to compose about Socrates s
dialogue on The Apology. Socrates is notorious for his wisdom, in conjunction with his competence
to prevail upon you that your dictums are spurious and that his, in fact, are equitable. I have also
come to the agreement to write about The Apology by reason of that this is the closest to him that
we will ever get too. Additionally, The Apology is inherently the inauguration of Western
Philosophy.
Socrates is known for his capability to arouse conversation among others. He produces this method
in which he essentially forces each person in the discussion to think twice before they supply
others with their remarks. His method is also a form dialogue, which is where you bequeath
material and take away material. In The Apology , Socrates generates a speech in the vicinity of the
trial in which he is charged with not recognizing the Gods, inventing new Gods, dishonoring the
current Gods, and with

Descriptive Essay On Camp Counselors
My five year old self clung to my mother begging her not to leave me in a cramped
unairconditioned cabin with 10 other girls. My mother who was also a camper at one time
would sweetly give me a kiss on the cheek and tell me that I would survive. Much like many of
the other kids, as I grew up and became more and more in love with camp my goodbyes with my
parents became quick pecks on the cheek and rushed hugs on the modest wooden porch of my
cabins. Camp is where people go to learn and flourish. It is an opportunity for a kid who has
never stayed away from their parents for more than a few day to become independent. Many of
the campers are afraid of camp the first time they arrive. The fear of the unknown: Who am I
going to be friends with? What bed am I going to sleep on? Is the food going to be gross? All these
questions and more will be running through the kids and parents heads as they drive through the
white picket fencefor the first time. As a camp counselor, I get to be the friendly face that greets
and reassures the parents that even though their child is worried they will soon feel at home in
our cozy wooden cabin. One of the first things we do is help the campers make their beds. A
calmness floods over the parents as they see the excitement on their child s face pick a top or
bottom bunk and claim their new nook. Once the child gets settled into their new home for the
next 2 to 6 weeks it is time for the goodbyes. When I was a campermy first year my goodbyes were

Descriptive Essay About My New Home
Many things could ve woken me up that morning: My own worry and fault for not being able to
sleep, the moving trucks constant beeping reminding me of my soon departure, or the alarm my
mom set the night before. Either way I was going to end up going to bed that night the same
way, on the floor of my new house, miles away from my home. I woke with the battle of not
knowing whether I was dreaming or if this was reality, and for a few short seconds before my
conscious told me why I was up, I had completely forgotten the day ahead of me. I look around at
my once poster filled walls of bad boy bands and teen movies. My poster board of movie stubs
and notes I had passed around with my friends now perfectly packed up into categorized and
clearly labelled containers. I have moved enough in my life to know the drill, though I thought I
wouldn t have to ever recall it again. I have to start packing the week before, and remember to

to remind methat home is not a place but the people that I take to those places. My grandma
always knew how much moving for dad s job had affected me, and I really thought this was the
last time I had to feel that way. Earlier that week, my mom came into my room to

Why I Am A Doctor
Ever since I was ten, I knew what I wanted to grow up to become, a doctor. Eight years later, and
I still have not completely decide on what type of physician I want to be. This is because every
career in the medical field interests me. However, when I decided on this career field, I knew
one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several different science courses. I was happy with this
because I always loved science. What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would
have to take two semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English
as I did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was always an area
where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for my first semester at Wayne
State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English 1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew
this was a course I had to take. I promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in
much more effort than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely
high standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into the
Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have improved in each of
the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing, researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I
have put into excelling in this class. The first, and the most basic, learningoutcome that was focused
upon in class is reading.

My Experience At A Children s Camp
The past few days of observation are based upon my final week as a coordinator for a children s
camp. Including my interactions with people as our programs are winding down and the
unexpected realities of what was going on outside of the camp. In this week I experienced; upward
social comparison, availability heuristic, mortality salience and social cognition.
Upward social comparison I participated in a panel discussing the benefits of advanced
placement classes. In my discussion of my personal experiences, I talked about comparing
myself to my more intelligent classmates. In high school I felt like I was not as mart as my
classmates. I discussed how it made me work harder, I wanted to be at what I perceived was a
higher level. The example in the book mentioned studies of people using upward social
comparison to motivate themselves to success (pg. 86). As mentioned by the text upwards
social comparison can be a positive tool for motivation. The textbook also spoke about the
dangers of comparing yourself with others if a person does not believe they can reach what they
are aspiring to be. I recognize what the danger in upward social comparison could be, it would be
hard to process failure if you lived your entire life comparing yourself to others. I do not know if I
thought I could reach what I was comparing myself to, but I believe I benefited from the push.
Eventually, I no longer relied the comparison.
Availability Heuristic In my closing duties, I evaluated

Developing A Drug And Getting It On The Market Is...
The process of developing a drug and getting it on the market is extremely expensive. Studies
have shown that the cost can range from 161 million to over 2 billion dollars. The Tufts center
for drug development found that getting a drug from its initial state to pharmacy shelves cost
an astounding 2.5 billion dollars in 2014. This is significantly higher than the 800 million cost
associated with bringing new drugs to the market in 2003. These figures are so high in part
because they take into account the opportunity cost of investing money in drugs while it could
have been invested elsewhere. Another portion of the cost is also due to the failure of drugs.
The probability of a pioneer drug advancing past the clinical studies is around 8%. So in order to
be profitable, large companies have to invest their time and resources in more than one drug at a
time. For every drug they put on the market there are several that took up resources but ultimately
did not make it. In addition to the cost, the whole process can take from 10 to 15 years. In order to
get a drug approved the manufacturers have to demonstrate that it is safe and effective. First, a
manufacturer must submit an Investigational New Drug Application (IND). This shows the results
of tests done on animals, which are known as preclinical trials. It also explains how they would
conduct the trials on humans. If the FDA decides that it is reasonably safe to proceed, then the
manufacturer can move to the next, a

Similarities Between Martin Luther And Star Wood
Martin Luther, essentially a nobody with credentials, grew to become one of the most influential
persons in the 16th century. Though his message was fought off by the Catholic church, with the
help of the printing press and his followers, Luther s message was able to spread throughout
Europe. Similarly, taking a look at the message of may your brief candle shine brightly from
Once Upon a Timepiece by Starr Wood, both messages of history traveled through time due to the
unforeseen circumstances one calls history. By examining the choices each individual made, it is
clear to see how greed and circumstance play a deep role in both Andrew Pettegree s Brand Luther
and Starr Wood s Once Upon a Timepiece.
Brand Luther, the detailed story of how Martin Luther, a former monk, became the backbone of a
religious reformation starts off in Wittenberg: the home of maybe two thousand at the time of
Luther s arrival. Wittenberg would become known as the starting place of the reformation, but
prior to Luther s writings was a poor, unattractive town, with old, small, ugly wooden houses,
more like a village than a town (Pettegree 7). Yet ironically, with the help of Martin, Wittenberg
would thrive economically due to the printing press s success in sending and selling his every last
written word all over Europe. Though the printing press was only first established in Wittenberg in
1502, Wittenberg would become the printing capitol of the world by 1543 (Pettegree 11).

After each IVF cycle, in March, April and June, her eggs were fertilized with Tony s sperm, and the
resulting 15 embryos were frozen, allowing Jessica s body time to recover before embryo transfer.
Frozen transfer made a lot of sense, when Dr. Shapiro explained it, she says. You go through all
this medication to do retrieval, then you re asking your body to get back in the mode of accepting
transfer right away. It s better to wait a month or two and then start over again, making sure that
your body is ready to take the embryos in. It worked for me.
Ultimately, two embryos survived the thaw and growth stages, and both were transferred. One
became Jessica and Tony s first child together, daughter Sunnye Lucille.
Repeat IVF after failed vasectomy reversal
Soon, the Carros decided to try again. This time, the day before egg retrieval, Tony got cold feet.
The idea of a fourth child suddenly became overwhelming. When Jessica came into the office
upset and uncertain about what to do, Dr. Shapiro offered to retrieve Jessica s eggs and freeze
them until the couple was ready, and even offered to let them pay for the retrieval when they were
ready to move ahead.
It was such a tough, emotionally charged time for us, and Dr. Shapiro knew it, she says. What he
did for us just shows what kind of person he is.
Four months later, Tony was back on board, and the couple decided to move forward with
fertilizing Jessica s frozen eggs.

Pursuing the American Dream in My Antonia by Willa Cather In the novel, My Antonia, by
Willa Cather, everyone seems to be trying to pursue the American Dream. While they all have
different ideas of just exactly what the American Dream is, they all know precisely what they
want. For some, the American Dream sounds so enticing that they have traveled across the world
to achieve their goal. They work hard to fit in and succeed, but, as in the case of Mr. Shimerda,
are not always successful. One girl who was chasing the American Dream was Lena Lingard, a

of the young men began to notice her as they never had before. Soon Lena began to get a
reputation that many hired girls got, that of a brazen hussy. Everyone thought that she would
wind up marrying the wrong man and ruin her life, but Lena had different plans. She did not
listen to anything that they said about her. As soon as she could, she got her own dress shop in
Lincoln and thrived with it. After a while she moved to San Francisco and did even better. She
did not let the stereotype of the hired girls get in her way of the American Dream. She was
determined to reach her goal and with all of her hard work she did just that. Some families
traveled a great many miles to try to win the American Dream. The Shimerdas came all the way
from Bohemia and gambled everything they had to make it in America. Antonia, the oldest
daughter, knew that to succeed in raising her very own family she needed to learn the customs
of this new country. With this in mind, she asked for the help of Jim Burden, her closest

Communication Is An Important Part Of A Business
Communication is an important part of a business to work. For a working environment to succeed,
a company s ideas, knowledge, or opinions are useless unless there is effective workplace
communication. Upward communication is the flow of information from frontline employees to
managers, supervisors, and directors. This process differs from the more commonly used method of
downward communication. Both communication processes require individuals to exchange
information with one another with the mindset to influence one s thoughts, behaviors, increase
understanding, and help the organization function smoothly. There are different variables that play
a part in organizational communication and a key factor is listening.
Within an organization, there are various methods of providing and gaining information. As
previously mentioned, upward communication is where employees speak directly to management.
This method allows employee s to participate in the organization. This open door policy keeps
managers aware of how subordinates feel about their job tasks, procedures, and the organization in
general. This communication channel implements a method called serial communication. Serial
communication is a type of upward communication method that passes information consecutively
from one person to another (Aamodt, p. 396). This system is similar to a chain reaction, where a
message is given from an employee to a supervisor till it eventually reaches an executive.

Gender Roles In The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn
Gender Translation During the post war modernism era writers portray the gender compound in
interesting and unique ways. The book follows a group of Americans as they travel around Europe

Jake Barnes, and the other main character s gendercharacterization is unique in that the main
character s gender traits juxtapose each other throughout the novel. Jake Barnes masculinity shifts

Cohn is a notorious American writer but he still shows his insecurity. One of the reasons for his
insecurity is that Cohn is one of the few men in the story who is revealed to not be a veteran of
the war. Cohn also experienced a lot of racial discrimination as a Jew when he went to Princeton
(Hemingway, 12). To compensate for his self consciousness, he became the middleweight boxing
champion of Princeton (Hemingway, 11). Despite his athletic achievements, Cohn is still portrayed
as feminine. His first wife left him before he could leave her and the next woman he had a
relationship with was very forceful and she treated Cohn as a careless possession (Hemingway,
13). The woman, whose name is Frances, took advantage of Cohn s insecurities and she used them
to dominate, not letting him look at another woman (Hemingway, 13). Cohn s weakness for women
causes him to nearly kill Romero in a fistfight. Jealous of Romero after [Lady Ashley] told [Cohn]

to sustain the dominance when he attempts to shake Romero s hand and as a result, the bull fighter

how much he loved her (Hemingway, 205). Cohn s fails to display masculinity throughout the novel

How The Cross Cultural Communication Effectively For The...
The changing of culture and development of technology make a huge change to the global business
marketplace. Nowadays, almost every organization around the world has more than one nationality
of employee. For example, all of the Google offices in the United States have 39 percent of foreign
employees (Google, 2014). From the multinational environment in the global business, the cross
cultural communicationis so important for the company to communicate and send the message to
their stakeholder clearly. It is not easy to do the cross cultural communication effectively for the
company, because there are the barriers from the diverse workforce. There are three major barriers
of effective cross cultural communication; language, nonverbal communication, and stereotype
barrier.
Language Barrier We can say that language is the biggest barrier for the people to make the cross
cultural communication. According to Oxford dictionary, language means the method of human
communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structure and
conventional way (2014). Language is the important tool that can connect people to communicate
to each other, and it is not only for the business purpose, but it includes how to talk with people in
daily life. However, if people come from the different country, the problem is how they can
understand the language of each other, because in each country, they have their own language. In
addition, there are more than 7,100 languages

Introduction:
In this Lab report we will be using Red Cabbage extract as an indicator to determine the pH of
substances. The purpose of this experiment is to see if and how base and acids react. Indicators
are chemicals that change color depending on the pH solution that they are dissolved in. This
experiment will determine which items we use to determine ph. The pH of a solution indicates its
acidity or alkalinity. There is a ph. scale that determines if the items such as lemons or bleach are
an acid or a base. I have chosen to use red cabbage in this experiment so that I can know the range

The results of my experiment were as follows the pH of 2 has a pink color and the ph. of 12 had a

I have found out that the any number below 7 is more acidic such as lemons and bananas. I have

Analysis Of Herbert Hoover s The Great Gatsby
This script presents as a historical, character driven drama that explores an interesting part of
Herbert Hoover s life as a secretary and mining scout in Australia. The tone is consistently dramatic
with a nice element of wit and humor. The era, culture, and time period feel authentic and
believable. The historical information feels well researched.
Hoover s goal to become rich and marry the woman of his dreams is well established and drives
Hoover s actions.
Will the story has the potential to be a compelling drama, the script would benefit from more
development, especially in the area of structure, pace, and tension.
First, the opening begins when Hoover is handing over his Presidency and then flashbacks back in
time. This is a workable structure, although the opening scene doesn t immediately grab the
attention of the audience. It s heavy with dialogue and doesn t highlight the emotion of Hoover.
The first act is driven by Hoover s quest for a job so that he can marry the woman he loves. The
first act is a bit repetitive in dialogue, as his friends repeatedly counsel him about meeting with
Lou s father and what to do and say. Hoover also tends to repeat his goal several times about
getting rich and marrying Lou (page 17 and page 20 are examples).
The second act is driven by Hoover s job in Australia. The concern about the second act is that there
s very little compelling tension to sustain the overall plot. The story requires stronger pivotal plot

Gun Control Personal Dilemmas
I m writing to you today as a concerned citizen of district four. I have recently been looking into
different views and perspectives on gun violence, and ways to help solve the issue in the United
States without having it limit citizen s right to bear arms. After the shooting in Las Vegas in early
October where almost sixty people were left dead and five hundred others were injured, I was
questioning the current policies and views of guncontrol in America (Times 2017). Some people
believe that as a country we should prohibit the right of people to have their own weaponry,
however, I feel like that is very unfair for those that go through all of the cautious steps to owning a
firearm. Others believe that no matter what is done the outcome will not actually help us as a
nation, and that there will forever be instances where mass shootings like Las Vegas s will occur.
Overall, I was looking for a way to help find a solution to limit the outburst of gun violence without
limiting the rights of citizens. While reading your views I completely agree with your stance that
there should be more background checks on individuals who want to obtain firearmsand that there
should be a way to allow law abiding citizens their rights to guns (Price). I was hoping to explain
to you a few different ideas I have thought about to help allow people their right to bear arms but
also make it safer for everyone at the same time.

The Between Vigne s And Davis s Accounts
Davis s monograph demonstrates the complexity of the story that Vigne failed to incorporate as
well as to point out the differences of the interpretations between Vigne s and Davis s accounts.
Davis provides a detailed description of the two trials of the accused imposter. The first trial
occurs at a local court in Rieux, where the imposter is charged with stealing another person s
identity and impersonating Martin s life, while in the film the trial occurs in the same village of
Artigat. Pierre Guerre, Martin s uncle, presents the charge of imposture. Davis argues that
Bertrande implies her support for the accusation with the hopes that Pierre would lose the case
against the imposter. Bertrande proceeds to protect herself by coaching the imposter covertly
while publicly supporting the move by Pierre. Specifically, Davis asserts that the couple worked
out a plan to follow during the trials to counter Pierre s arguments. Bertrande either by explicit or
tacit agreement ... helped him become her husband (Benson 44). The trial declares the imposter
guilty of the crime and sentence him to death, but he appeals the case. After the trial, according to
Davis, there was a scheme by the couple to show Pierre coerced Bertrande into lying for him.
Consequently, Davis interprets Bertrande s actions as a double game. Bertrande first sends him
[the imposter] food and money to indicate her support, but then she agrees with Pierre that she will
become a plaintiff (56). Davis shows

way to give a heart transplant to many people with heart diseases had begun. From the late 1700s
until the early 1900s, many different scientist began gathering all types of information. Surgeons
back then would transplant organs in the lab research, and many of those transplants... Show more

It was in December that Lewis Washkansky was given more life by a group of surgeons. The
face of Washkansky showed how proud he was after the surgery. I m pretty sure that smile gave
surgeons a motivation to continue to bless more people with their life giving techniques. 2
FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT PAPER Unfortunately, like any other subject there had to be
more improvements in the transplant surgery. After the surgery, Lewis was prescribed
medications to restrain his immune system and keep his body from rejecting the heart. Sadly
after eighteen days of the surgery Lewis Washkansky passed away. Doctors say his heart
functioned really well until the day he died. Lewis Washkansky gave surgeons the motivation to
keep working on heart transplants because they were successful! Nowadays, doctors, scientist,
all of us are searching for a way to live a longer or fulfilled life. We have heart transplants
successfully functioning thanks to many scientist who worked hard to look over every small
detail to come up with a perfect heart transplant. To this day humans keep searching for ways to
make other s lives easier. All because God gave us the desire of wanting to live for

The Iranian Hostage Crisis Of Iran
In 1979, the United States of America was presented with a situation unlike any before: they
received word that their embassy in Tehran, Iran, had been overtaken and all members of the
embassy save six were being held hostage by Iranian revolutionaries. The road leading to this
climactic period in American and Iranian history led back to almost thirty years of growing anti
American resentment. The Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah of Iranwere at odds, creating a power
struggle unlike any seen in modern history. The interaction of Western influence and Islamic culture
and social structure reacted in an explosive way, culminating in what is now called the Iranian
Hostage Crisis. The beginning factors in the Iranian Revolutionand subsequent... Show more content

In response, the rest of the world started a boycott of Iranian oil, and the British began planning a
military operation to wrest control from Mossadegh. They worked with President Dwight
Eisenhower and the American CIA to organize a coup of sorts, by funding and inciting pro shah
supporters to take to the streets and demand the removal of Mossadegh, who was an erratic and
unpredictable ruler. The operation was successful and threw Mossadegh out of power, but not
without many unintended consequences (Farber, 56). Within Iran, Islamic fundamentalists
following Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini were greatly angered by the American influence and
disruption, and the seeds of revolution were planted. Fast forward twenty five years, and we arrive
at the beginning of the Iranian Revolution. In August of 1978, riots and civil violence were
escalating dramatically within Iran, as supporters of the Iranian Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah
Ruhollah Khomeini clashed in demonstrations that frequently turned lethal. The problem for
American President Jimmy Carter was that both sides represented different evils, as the Shah
employed the use of the SAVAK, the Iranian secret police, as well as torture to maintain control; but
Khomeini represented a vehement hatred for all Western influence in his country, and his
supporters often lit cinemas and other Western symbols on fire (Farber, 92). One incident in
particular sparked the beginning of a

Review of a Correlational Study
Review of a correlational study
The use of correlational studies is dominant across multiple disciplines. The social sciences as well
as the natural sciences make generous use of correlational studies. Correlation is not causation
(Babbie 2007). Consequently, correlational studies examine changes in two variables an
independent and a dependent variable. The intent of the correlational study is to measure the degree
of linear association between the two variables under investigation. The association between the
two variables is measured using the correlation coefficient, r. The Pearson s Product Moment
correlation is the most robust measure of correlation and is generally used with interval level data
(Gravetter and Wallnau 2008).
The study examined for this review is a correlational study because it measured the linear
relationship between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity in bladder cancer patients. The
researchers employ the Pearson s Product Moment (PPM) correlation as the correlational measure
for the research. This use of PPM is consistent with the data collected and supports the underlying
assumption of the test. The researchers demonstrate a linear relationship between serum zinc levels
and telomerase activity using a scatter plot. The scatter plot is a legitimate graphical mechanism to
identify linear relationships (NorнЃјsis 2008). Additionally, the study was explanatory rather than
predictive. Explanatory studies tend to be correlational in terms of the

Pediatric Nurse Research Paper
Only a particular type of person can rock Elmo scrubs. To have Disney princess characters
gummed onto their stethoscope. To have random colors of pee and goo stained onto your
clothing. To get an IV taped onto an arm so invincibly. To mastering the art of diaper changing.
To work with babies to small children to adolescents to young adults, it takes a special dose of
generosity and muscle to care for him or her when they re sick. My magnitude and absolute desire
to pursue slipping on Elmo scrubs, or in other words, becoming a pediatric nurse is because it s a
part of my character.
My passion in pursuing to be a nurse in pediatrics started when I was just 11 years old: my first
babysitting job. That being said, through the years of caring for children and making some sort of
profit through enhancing my sincerity, my aspiration has only grown. Being around children has
made me a better child. In particular to this last year, on January 13th, 2017, when my baby ... Show

Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary
Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes.
Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic
steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and
set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at
higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain
banned from sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates
sports regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned
from sports because of the many harmful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use
of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot
of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic
androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football
players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised
important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are
exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance
enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between
1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training
session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart
malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly
after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From
case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to be low, but serious adverse effects
may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal studies seem to support this
possibility. One study found that exposing male

Reading Characters In Walter Dean Myers s Bad Boy
Reading characters as windows is better because it allows one to get a look into different people
s lives. When a character in a book is a window it is so easy to learn about the character s life and
how it differs from my own. As a reader this lets you see life in a whole new manor. When you
read about lives that are different from your own you start to think about what someone had to go
through compared to you. Characters that are windows will help the reader make a connection
and reflect on the situations the characters are in. In the memoir, Bad Boy, by Walter Dean Myers,
the author describes his life growing up as a poor young African American. Walter comes to realize
that the racial struggles that surround him will mean he will have to overcome many obstacles in
his life to succeed. Walter had to go through many tragedies and hardships in his life... Show more

Walter loved to read but, As much as I enjoyed reading, in the world in which I was living, it had
to be a secret vice. (p. 52) In Walter s world, he had to hide the books he was reading in order to
avoid being teased or roughed up. He lived in a world where academic success was deemed
worthless and not manly. Walter s world is vastly different from mine. Growing up here in
Westport, academic success is not only expected but desired. Comparing the differences in Walter s
environment to mine allows me to have empathy towards the struggles he had to overcome as a
young man. As I read the character as a window, I thought more about the harsh environments that
exist around the world where young children struggle. Reading characters as windows, is better
because it truly allows the reader to learn about others and how their worlds are different from their
own. This will enable the reader to think about the world and visualize it through someone else s

The Emotions Of Creon In Antigone By Sophocles
Throughout the play Antigone by Sophocles, Antigone does not have one main motivation, but
rather a blend of many. As Antigone s three most evident motives are doing the right thing, flouting
Creon s authority, and expressing her overall anger at life, the first and the last are most important.
In this play, the combination of Antigones emotions toward her grave past and her obligation to her
brother, regarding the gods, fuses together to be the incentive for her actions, regardless of Creon.
Challenging Creon is almost a side effect, a medium through which Antigone can achieve her goals.
Antigone s past is a messy one: an incestual and murderous curse put on her family, her mother s
suicide, her father s self mutilation and banishment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, in Antigone s conversation with Ismene, she reveals more of her motivations.
Antigone s anger is carried over, but the reader is also introduced to a budding grief. She states
that Creon has no right to keep [her] from [her] own (59). The fact that Polynices is her brother
is enough to for Antigone to justify her actions against the law. The tone of this statement feels
like a grief stricken plea, to do what is right for her brother. She loves him, and he deserves to be
buried. Antigone then mentions that Creon and everyone who refuses to bury Polynices is
dishonor[ing] the laws the gods hold in honor (91 92). For Antigone to then act against
everyone, would, therefore, be the right thing, in terms of religious beliefs. For someone other
than Antigone this might be sufficient enough motivation, but since she is so complex it is only
a factor. A thoughtful, rational person probably wouldn t be so quick to jump into a decision
that would inevitably lead them to their death, even if that decision was the right one. Since
Antigone is so upset with her life, she doesn t care if she lives or dies, if the past is any
indication of her future, only more pain will come. This is what makes her do the right thing.
Antigone believes burying her brother is right, and that the laws of the gods must be obeyed, so it
is a factor, but since she actually takes action and buries him, she throws her life away.

New Forms And Models Of Church
In thinking about the potential for new forms and models of church, we must first articulate what
the goals are for this church as well as for the community. With respect to the church, one of the
main emphases at this time according to judicatory, is to care for the congregation. The second
goal for the church is to develop a new ministry plan that is more extensive than the previous plan.
The third and final goal is to organize work in the community. These goals will guide the
possibilities for new forms and models of church. Another aspect of this church that forms the
discussion of the models and forms of church is the idea that this is a Community church. [1] What
this means is that this is a church that is intentional about being... Show more content on

While as the case mentions, this will evolve as time goes on, this congregation will begin on this
goal by intentional steps for the many different members to get to know each other more deeply
in order to become a community. This could be as simple as sitting with someone new in worship
each week, or sticking around for a few minutes after the service to talk to someone new. This begs
the question, of how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that
rotate in the pulpit, by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how
this is important for the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s
words in Corinthians about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for
understanding what community means in the congregation. In addition, there is also a form within
the model of community that is important. This form is a congregation that has Open hearts, open
minds, open doors. [4] What this form will look like is a church that is inviting and welcoming of
all peoples either already in the congregation or if they are new and come into the congregation.
The bottom line is that while of course, the pastors shall care for the congregation, especially in the
ways

  • 2. The Importance Of Religious Education In Contemporary... Religion. Such a short and simple term, although it signifies more than the mind could comprehend. Religion brings communities together but has the potential to tear them apart. Should we educate our nation s young minds on religion, or is it a thing of the past? Should we, as future educators, try to incorporate faithand morals into everyday lessons? These are all questions in which we must ask ourselves in order to efficiently answer the question of Does Religious Educationremain relevant in Contemporary Society? Religious Education, often abbreviated to RE , is a subject like no other. It is one where children and young people engage in a search for meaning, value and purpose in life. 1 The United Kingdom is such a culturally diverse nation and, for many citizens, Religious Education and practice are vital in order for them to live their chosen lives of faith. So, why should their children be deprived of being given the materials and in class encouragement that would be instrumental in order to develop their own beliefs, morals and Religious values? CFE RME: Principles and Practice and CFE RME: Experiences and Outcomes are two critical documents to support and enhance our understanding of the importance of Religious Education, not only in the Curriculum, but in the wider community and in every day life. As previously mentioned, our nation is so rich in cultural variety and many agree that it is vital for learners to learn to appreciate and celebrate diversity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cuba And Embargo Essay example Cuba and the Affects of the Embargo The island nation of Cuba, located just ninety miles off the coast of Florida, is home to 11 million people and has one of the few remaining communist regimes in the world. Cuba s leader, Fidel Castro, came to power in 1959 and immediately instituted a communist program of sweeping economic and social changes. Castroallied his government with the Soviet Union and seized and nationalized billions of dollars of American property. U.S. relationswith Cuba have been strained ever since. A trade embargo against Cuba that was imposed in 1960 is still in place today. Despite severe economic suffering and increasing isolation from the world community, Castro remains committed to communism. (Close Up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supporters of the legislation believe that prohibiting foreign investment will quicken Castro s downfall. (Close Up Foundation) Many debate on the issue of why the U.S. should or shouldn t keep the ebargo against Cuba. These debates deal with the effects of the Embargo on Cuba s economy, humanitarian rights and health of the people of Cuba. The embargo today places a ban on subsidiary trade, Licensing, shipping and humanitarian aid. (Close Up Foundation) In 1992, the Cuban Democracy act imposed a ban on subsidiary trade with Cuba. This ban restricted Cuba s ability to import medicines and medical supplies from third country sources. There have also been corporate buy outs and mergers between U.S. and European pharmaceutical companies thus adding to the number of companies permitted to do business with Cuba. Under the Cuban Democracy Act, The U.S. Treasury and Commerce Departments are allowed to license individual sales of medicines and medical supplies, supposedly for humanitarian reasons to make up for the embargo s impact on health care delivery. According to the U.S. corporate executives, the licensing provisions are so tough as to have had the opposite effect. With this statement, it is assumed that there are fewer licenses given out for humanitarian reason therefore favoring the embargo and aiding in the downfall of health in Cuba. Since 1992, the embargo has prohibited ships from loading or unloading cargo in U.S. ports for 180 days after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Civil Law Civil law (common law) Civil law is the branch of law dealing with disputes between individuals or organizations, in which compensation may be awarded to the victim. For instance, if a car crash victim claims damages against the driver for loss or injury sustained in an accident, this will be a civil law case.[1] Civil law differs from criminal law, whose emphasis is more on punishment than in dispute resolution. The law relating to civil wrongs and quasi contract is part of the civil law.[2] Overview In the common law, civil law is the area of laws and justice that affect the legal status of individuals. Civil law, in this sense, is usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge madedecisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that it is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial precedent).[1][2] Historically, civil law existed in the times of Ancient Egypt and it is the group of legal ideas and systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Germanic, canon law, feudal, and local practices,[3] as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and legislative positivism. Conceptually, civil law proceeds from abstractions, formulates general principles, and distinguishes substantive rules from procedural rules.[4] It holds case law to be secondary and subordinate to statutory law, and the court system is usuallyinquisitorial, unbound by precedent, and composed of specially trained judicial officers with a limited authority to interpret law.Juries separate from the judges are not used, although in some cases, benches may be sat by lay judges alongside legally trained career judges. Overview The purpose of codification is to provide all citizens with an accessible and written collection of the laws which apply to them and which judges must follow. • 5. Absurdism In The Stranger Albert Camus utilizes an existential philosophy, absurdism, in his story, The Stranger . Absurdism is when humans live meaningless lives in an irrational universe. Meursault, the protagonist in The Stranger , has an absurdist view to life, which the story revolves around. Meursault s unique view of life is unique and different from the ethics of the society. Absurdismplays a key role in Meursault s life as the absurd suninfluences his actions while his absurdist philosophies make him a stranger to society. The absurd sun physically weakens Meursault leading him to make irrational decisions. The sun is symbolic in The Strangeras it presents the irrationality in Meursault s universe. The sun is a recurring symbol in the story and the first instance where it displays the irrationality in Meursault s world is when Meursault is faced with the Arab at the beach as the sun was starting to burn [his] cheeks, and [he] could feel drops of sweat...It was this burning that made [him] move forward (58). Meursault encounters the Arab and the intense weather dictates his actions and makes Meursault think irrationally. The use of the words made him show how the sun dictates his actions, which is completely irrational. When Meursault is physically weakened in any form he thinks irrationally. In this case, the sun weakens him physically as it is burning and leads him to step forward thinking he could get the sun off of him, which is irrational. The irrationality of the weather dictating Meursault s actions is absurdism. As Meursault makes his journey to the Arabs at the spring he realizes that all [he] had to do was turn around and that would be the end of it. But, the whole beach, throbbing in the sun, was pressing on [his] back. [He] took a few steps toward the spring (58). Meursault is aware that all he needs to do is turn back; however he takes a few steps forward showing how the sun dictates his actions. Furthermore, Meursault is physically weakened as the intense heat was pressing on his back leading to his irrational thought to disregard his mind and move forward. Throughout the story, Meursault is constantly led into irrational thought when physically weakened. An absurdist world is defined to be one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Athanasius s Doctrine Of Arius When it came time for Athanasius, the deacon, to counterargue Arius s doctrine, he was first met with discrimination and disrespect due to his position as a deacon. Nonetheless, he began by defending Christ s divinity. He stated in the council that Christ was not created by God by using the evidence from the Gospel of Saint John, In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) By this verse, Athanasius explained that the Word was Jesus Christ, he was already with the Father from the beginning of time, the only thing that makes him different was that he was born of the Virgin Saint Mary and have taken part of humanity. They voted on whether the council preferred Arius doctrine was correct or Athanasius s doctrine. The votes were gathered and it was clear that Athanasius s depiction of Christ s divinity and humanity was the correct doctrine. The council then had to ensure that there wouldn t be another heresy like Arius again in the Christian Church, so the Council of Nicaea created the Nicaean Creed which emphasizes Christ s divinity with the Father but with taking part of humanity. The Nicaean Creed was also made to strengthen the faith of the Christian Church and to always remind the that Jesus has a divinity. The Nicaean Creed can be found in many of the Orthodox Christian Churches which state, We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ... light of light, true God of God, begotten not created, with one essence with the Father, (Schaff, 126). With the Creed being created this eventually lead to the end of the Arius heresy that almost would have ended the Christian religion. The believers realizes that if per impossible the Church had not there and then set forth in plainest terms the Catholic Faith as expressed in the Nicene Creed, the Christian Faith would have perished miserably. • 8. A Common Problem Faced By Immigrants Essay Recent happenings around the world have brought the subject of migration to the forefront of everyday conversation. However, the migration phenomenon is not a new one but can be traced as far back as human history itself. In some way, migration can be seen as an innate part of animal behavior and the human experience. Historically, several push and pull factors have forced several groups to move across the globe in the hopes of improving their situations. However, the circumstances surrounding one s migration to a new place differs for each individual. Apart from the political and economic strife of migration to a different country, immigrants and refugees are left with the added struggle of maintaining their social identity, culture, and kinship when acclimating to a new environment. In order to properly explain this topic, I draw on the information from several articles, lectures, films, and interviews I have conducted with close family and friends. A common problem faced by immigrants is social identity. Social identity refers to the need to identify as a member of a group and not merely as an individual. Man is a social being and being able to identify with a group helps in giving a sense of belonging, developing self esteem and a sense of pride. Social identity and sense of self are therefore important to an individual s well being. As a member of a group, every individual performs the role(s) and expectations of that group. However, intersectional identities exist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some ways the animals are harmed are suffocating on plastic bags, getting trapped in bottle holders, or being poisoned by the toxins in some litter. These fish becoming poisoned by the toxins can carry disease and end up on your plate. Local seafood restaurants or grocery stores cannot tell if the fish they serve to you has been affected by the hazardous pollution. The fishermen that catch the fish locally cannot see a difference between the diseased fish and normal ones either so the pollution in the community deposits into the harbor can come right back. The local population also drinks the water that has been filtered and sometimes contains dangerous minerals. This water runs through showers and faucets in homes that people use every day. These reasons all concern the local community and they should because water pollution is a serious problem and if people do not take action immediately than Charleston s water could become a wasteland instead of a fun afternoon. • 14. Socrates s Views On Philosophy And It s Influences... Perhaps in the present moment, there would have been no such information on philosophy and it s influences without the existence of Socrates. Socrates was an individual who was acknowledged as an eminent philosopher. We have received his intelligence from others who have documented his speeches, due to the fact that in the past, he had not personally recorded himself. I find it rather intriguing that despite the fact that Socrates, alongside his pupils, have endured life many years ago, it is still pertinent in todays society. I have appointed myself to compose about Socrates s dialogue on The Apology. Socrates is notorious for his wisdom, in conjunction with his competence to prevail upon you that your dictums are spurious and that his, in fact, are equitable. I have also come to the agreement to write about The Apology by reason of that this is the closest to him that we will ever get too. Additionally, The Apology is inherently the inauguration of Western Philosophy. Socrates is known for his capability to arouse conversation among others. He produces this method in which he essentially forces each person in the discussion to think twice before they supply others with their remarks. His method is also a form dialogue, which is where you bequeath material and take away material. In The Apology , Socrates generates a speech in the vicinity of the trial in which he is charged with not recognizing the Gods, inventing new Gods, dishonoring the current Gods, and with ... My mother who was also a camper at one time would sweetly give me a kiss on the cheek and tell me that I would survive. Much like many of the other kids, as I grew up and became more and more in love with camp my goodbyes with my parents became quick pecks on the cheek and rushed hugs on the modest wooden porch of my cabins. Camp is where people go to learn and flourish. It is an opportunity for a kid who has never stayed away from their parents for more than a few day to become independent. Many of the campers are afraid of camp the first time they arrive. The fear of the unknown: Who am I going to be friends with? What bed am I going to sleep on? Is the food going to be gross? All these questions and more will be running through the kids and parents heads as they drive through the white picket fencefor the first time. As a camp counselor, I get to be the friendly face that greets and reassures the parents that even though their child is worried they will soon feel at home in our cozy wooden cabin. One of the first things we do is help the campers make their beds. A calmness floods over the parents as they see the excitement on their child s face pick a top or bottom bunk and claim their new nook. • 21. Descriptive Essay About My New Home Many things could ve woken me up that morning: My own worry and fault for not being able to sleep, the moving trucks constant beeping reminding me of my soon departure, or the alarm my mom set the night before. Either way I was going to end up going to bed that night the same way, on the floor of my new house, miles away from my home. I woke with the battle of not knowing whether I was dreaming or if this was reality, and for a few short seconds before my conscious told me why I was up, I had completely forgotten the day ahead of me. I look around at my once poster filled walls of bad boy bands and teen movies. My poster board of movie stubs and notes I had passed around with my friends now perfectly packed up into categorized and clearly labelled containers. I have moved enough in my life to know the drill, though I thought I wouldn t have to ever recall it again. I have to start packing the week before, and remember to leave the essentials out the night before. On the foot of my bed were the only things not packed and bound for my new home. I had my hair dryer for my long brown unmanageable hair, makeup, a mirror, two sets of clothing, and the necklace my grandma gave me before she passed, which was to remind methat home is not a place but the people that I take to those places. My grandma always knew how much moving for dad s job had affected me, and I really thought this was the last time I had to feel that way. Earlier that week, my mom came into my room to ... This is because every career in the medical field interests me. However, when I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several different science courses. I was happy with this because I always loved science. What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was always an area where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for my first semester at Wayne State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English 1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had to take. I promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into the Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have improved in each of the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing, researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling in this class. In this week I experienced; upward social comparison, availability heuristic, mortality salience and social cognition. Upward social comparison I participated in a panel discussing the benefits of advanced placement classes. In my discussion of my personal experiences, I talked about comparing myself to my more intelligent classmates. In high school I felt like I was not as mart as my classmates. I discussed how it made me work harder, I wanted to be at what I perceived was a higher level. The example in the book mentioned studies of people using upward social comparison to motivate themselves to success (pg. 86). As mentioned by the text upwards social comparison can be a positive tool for motivation. The textbook also spoke about the dangers of comparing yourself with others if a person does not believe they can reach what they are aspiring to be. I recognize what the danger in upward social comparison could be, it would be hard to process failure if you lived your entire life comparing yourself to others. I do not know if I thought I could reach what I was comparing myself to, but I believe I benefited from the push. Eventually, I no longer relied the comparison. • 25. Developing A Drug And Getting It On The Market Is... The process of developing a drug and getting it on the market is extremely expensive. Studies have shown that the cost can range from 161 million to over 2 billion dollars. The Tufts center for drug development found that getting a drug from its initial state to pharmacy shelves cost an astounding 2.5 billion dollars in 2014. This is significantly higher than the 800 million cost associated with bringing new drugs to the market in 2003. These figures are so high in part because they take into account the opportunity cost of investing money in drugs while it could have been invested elsewhere. Another portion of the cost is also due to the failure of drugs. The probability of a pioneer drug advancing past the clinical studies is around 8%. So in order to be profitable, large companies have to invest their time and resources in more than one drug at a time. For every drug they put on the market there are several that took up resources but ultimately did not make it. In addition to the cost, the whole process can take from 10 to 15 years. In order to get a drug approved the manufacturers have to demonstrate that it is safe and effective. First, a manufacturer must submit an Investigational New Drug Application (IND). This shows the results of tests done on animals, which are known as preclinical trials. It also explains how they would conduct the trials on humans. If the FDA decides that it is reasonably safe to proceed, then the manufacturer can move to the next, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though his message was fought off by the Catholic church, with the help of the printing press and his followers, Luther s message was able to spread throughout Europe. Similarly, taking a look at the message of may your brief candle shine brightly from Once Upon a Timepiece by Starr Wood, both messages of history traveled through time due to the unforeseen circumstances one calls history. By examining the choices each individual made, it is clear to see how greed and circumstance play a deep role in both Andrew Pettegree s Brand Luther and Starr Wood s Once Upon a Timepiece. Brand Luther, the detailed story of how Martin Luther, a former monk, became the backbone of a religious reformation starts off in Wittenberg: the home of maybe two thousand at the time of Luther s arrival. Wittenberg would become known as the starting place of the reformation, but prior to Luther s writings was a poor, unattractive town, with old, small, ugly wooden houses, more like a village than a town (Pettegree 7). Yet ironically, with the help of Martin, Wittenberg would thrive economically due to the printing press s success in sending and selling his every last written word all over Europe. Though the printing press was only first established in Wittenberg in 1502, Wittenberg would become the printing capitol of the world by 1543 (Pettegree 11). Pettegree s book ... You go through all this medication to do retrieval, then you re asking your body to get back in the mode of accepting transfer right away. It s better to wait a month or two and then start over again, making sure that your body is ready to take the embryos in. It worked for me. For a working environment to succeed, a company s ideas, knowledge, or opinions are useless unless there is effective workplace communication. Upward communication is the flow of information from frontline employees to managers, supervisors, and directors. This process differs from the more commonly used method of downward communication. Both communication processes require individuals to exchange information with one another with the mindset to influence one s thoughts, behaviors, increase understanding, and help the organization function smoothly. There are different variables that play a part in organizational communication and a key factor is listening. Within an organization, there are various methods of providing and gaining information. As previously mentioned, upward communication is where employees speak directly to management. This method allows employee s to participate in the organization. This open door policy keeps managers aware of how subordinates feel about their job tasks, procedures, and the organization in general. This communication channel implements a method called serial communication. Serial communication is a type of upward communication method that passes information consecutively from one person to another (Aamodt, p. 396). This system is similar to a chain reaction, where a message is given from an employee to a supervisor till it eventually reaches an executive. Advantages to using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hoover s goal to become rich and marry the woman of his dreams is well established and drives Hoover s actions. Will the story has the potential to be a compelling drama, the script would benefit from more development, especially in the area of structure, pace, and tension. First, the opening begins when Hoover is handing over his Presidency and then flashbacks back in time. This is a workable structure, although the opening scene doesn t immediately grab the attention of the audience. It s heavy with dialogue and doesn t highlight the emotion of Hoover. The first act is driven by Hoover s quest for a job so that he can marry the woman he loves. Others believe that no matter what is done the outcome will not actually help us as a nation, and that there will forever be instances where mass shootings like Las Vegas s will occur. Overall, I was looking for a way to help find a solution to limit the outburst of gun violence without limiting the rights of citizens. While reading your views I completely agree with your stance that there should be more background checks on individuals who want to obtain firearmsand that there should be a way to allow law abiding citizens their rights to guns (Price). I was hoping to explain to you a few different ideas I have thought about to help allow people their right to bear arms but also make it safer for everyone at the same time. One thing is that I feel like there should be different types of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Between Vigne s And Davis s Accounts Davis s monograph demonstrates the complexity of the story that Vigne failed to incorporate as well as to point out the differences of the interpretations between Vigne s and Davis s accounts. Davis provides a detailed description of the two trials of the accused imposter. The first trial occurs at a local court in Rieux, where the imposter is charged with stealing another person s identity and impersonating Martin s life, while in the film the trial occurs in the same village of Artigat. Pierre Guerre, Martin s uncle, presents the charge of imposture. Davis argues that Bertrande implies her support for the accusation with the hopes that Pierre would lose the case against the imposter. Bertrande proceeds to protect herself by coaching the imposter covertly while publicly supporting the move by Pierre. Specifically, Davis asserts that the couple worked out a plan to follow during the trials to counter Pierre s arguments. Bertrande either by explicit or tacit agreement ... helped him become her husband (Benson 44). The trial declares the imposter guilty of the crime and sentence him to death, but he appeals the case. After the trial, according to Davis, there was a scheme by the couple to show Pierre coerced Bertrande into lying for him. Consequently, Davis interprets Bertrande s actions as a double game. Bertrande first sends him [the imposter] food and money to indicate her support, but then she agrees with Pierre that she will become a plaintiff (56). Davis shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Deployment Of Cloud Technology Deployment of cloud technology is becoming ever more dependent on corporations to implement in order to remain competitive in this internet age driven business world. Every new technology pose significant and unforeseen risks and is my responsibility to evaluate the cost risk assessment as the CISO of www.imagine if you.org and provide my results to my management as requested. Good afternoon boss. I m glad you came to me before moving ahead with a final decision. Implementing the deployment of cloud technology within our organization provides a lot of advantages, however, at the same time, it also greatly increases cybersecurity risks that should be carefully considered before an educated and ethical decision can be reached. Security is the number one concern and priority when migrating to a cloud environment. First order of business is who or how we are going to house it. Choosing a hosting vendor is a crucial decision that, if chosen incorrectly, could make our data easily comprisable on an unsecured cloud. Exposure of this critical data compromises the entire intent resulting in a useless waste of time, resources, and money at a minimum. To ensure the vendors are qualified, in my professional opinion, these questions must all be true. The Iranian Hostage Crisis Of Iran In 1979, the United States of America was presented with a situation unlike any before: they received word that their embassy in Tehran, Iran, had been overtaken and all members of the embassy save six were being held hostage by Iranian revolutionaries. The road leading to this climactic period in American and Iranian history led back to almost thirty years of growing anti American resentment. The Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah of Iranwere at odds, creating a power struggle unlike any seen in modern history. The operation was successful and threw Mossadegh out of power, but not without many unintended consequences (Farber, 56). • 49. Review of a Correlational Study Review of a correlational study The use of correlational studies is dominant across multiple disciplines. The social sciences as well as the natural sciences make generous use of correlational studies. Correlation is not causation (Babbie 2007). Consequently, correlational studies examine changes in two variables an independent and a dependent variable. The intent of the correlational study is to measure the degree of linear association between the two variables under investigation. The association between the two variables is measured using the correlation coefficient, r. The Pearson s Product Moment correlation is the most robust measure of correlation and is generally used with interval level data (Gravetter and Wallnau 2008). The study examined for this review is a correlational study because it measured the linear relationship between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity in bladder cancer patients. The researchers employ the Pearson s Product Moment (PPM) correlation as the correlational measure for the research. This use of PPM is consistent with the data collected and supports the underlying assumption of the test. The researchers demonstrate a linear relationship between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity using a scatter plot. The scatter plot is a legitimate graphical mechanism to identify linear relationships (NorнЃјsis 2008). Additionally, the study was explanatory rather than predictive. Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between 1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to be low, but serious adverse effects may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal studies seem to support this possibility. One study found that exposing male ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you read about lives that are different from your own you start to think about what someone had to go through compared to you. • 53. The Emotions Of Creon In Antigone By Sophocles Throughout the play Antigone by Sophocles, Antigone does not have one main motivation, but rather a blend of many. As Antigone s three most evident motives are doing the right thing, flouting Creon s authority, and expressing her overall anger at life, the first and the last are most important. In this play, the combination of Antigones emotions toward her grave past and her obligation to her brother, regarding the gods, fuses together to be the incentive for her actions, regardless of Creon. Challenging Creon is almost a side effect, a medium through which Antigone can achieve her goals. Furthermore, in Antigone s conversation with Ismene, she reveals more of her motivations. Antigone s anger is carried over, but the reader is also introduced to a budding grief. She states that Creon has no right to keep [her] from [her] own (59). The fact that Polynices is her brother is enough to for Antigone to justify her actions against the law. The tone of this statement feels like a grief stricken plea, to do what is right for her brother. She loves him, and he deserves to be buried. Antigone then mentions that Creon and everyone who refuses to bury Polynices is dishonor[ing] the laws the gods hold in honor (91 92). For Antigone to then act against everyone, would, therefore, be the right thing, in terms of religious beliefs. For someone other than Antigone this might be sufficient enough motivation, but since she is so complex it is only a factor. A thoughtful, rational person probably wouldn t be so quick to jump into a decision that would inevitably lead them to their death, even if that decision was the right one. Since Antigone is so upset with her life, she doesn t care if she lives or dies, if the past is any indication of her future, only more pain will come. This is what makes her do the right thing. Antigone believes burying her brother is right, and that the laws of the gods must be obeyed, so it is a factor, but since she actually takes action and buries him, she throws her life away. ... With respect to the church, one of the main emphases at this time according to judicatory, is to care for the congregation. The second goal for the church is to develop a new ministry plan that is more extensive than the previous plan. The third and final goal is to organize work in the community. While as the case mentions, this will evolve as time goes on, this congregation will begin on this goal by intentional steps for the many different members to get to know each other more deeply in order to become a community. This could be as simple as sitting with someone new in worship each week, or sticking around for a few minutes after the service to talk to someone new. This begs the question, of how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that rotate in the pulpit, by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how this is important for the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s words in Corinthians about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for understanding what community means in the congregation. In addition, there is also a form within the model of community that is important. This form is a congregation that has Open hearts, open minds, open doors.
