Essay Texas Toll Roads
Texas Toll Roads an examination of tolling and alternate measures
Nothing that has occurred in the last several years in Texas has been quite as controversial as the
new and increased usage of toll roads for new road construction. We have heard many statements
that the toll roads are being built as a money making system for the state (and the Department of
Transportation). Statements have also been made to the effect that the state is selling the state, one
length of roadway at a time; that the current roads could be maintained by the state, with current
state funding levels. The main complaint is that the roads of Texas have always been free, and
should continue to be free. But are these arguments correct?
Texas Roads have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well, the money which is currently being gathered to fund road maintenance and building in
Texas, is not all going to road maintenance or building.
At this time, 18.4 cents is gathered as a federal gasoline tax, and 20 cents is gathered as a state gas
tax. However, the federal tax is sent to Washington, and we only receive back 87 cents of every
dollar sent (the rest goes to other states). As an example of this, Rhode Island gets back $2.10 for
every dollar in gas tax that they send to Washington. For the state gas taxes gathered, it is even
worse.
Of the money gathered by the state, almost 1 billion dollars is sent to other state agencies (such as
the Department of Public Safety, Education, and other state colleges and state parks).3 This money
is regulated by the state government to go to these other agencies, which detracts from the
department of transportation s ability to handle road maintenance. So, even before taking into
account the increases due to inflation, the budget of TxDOT is decreased by $1 billion dollars
(almost half of which goes to the state s educational system).
The state is selling itself, one length of roadway at a time.
People seem to want to believe that the state is giving

How Does John Dunbar Create Identity In The Film Dances...
I am not scared of you! yelled Wind in His Hair towards John Dunbar. In the beginning of the
film, Dances with Wolves, Lieutenant John Dunbar identifies himself as a union soldier, but
towards the end of the film he is considered a Sioux leader. Over the course of the film the Sioux
discover John Dunbar is not a normal soldier, however he is still a white man. This change in
identity is shown by increasing Siouxlanguage, making many Sioux relationships and in the change
of John Dunbar s name.
When John Dunbar first meets the Sioux they have trouble communicating with each other; by the
end of the film they are having fluent conversations. John Dunbar s first encounter with the Sioux is
very confusing and is misunderstood. The first thing that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However by the end of the film relationships grew and formed between the two groups of people.
The first time John Dunbar saw the Sioux people he was being yelled at by one of them. The
Sioux were afraid of the strange new white man and were not quite sure what to do with him.
Eventually the Sioux visited John Dunbar s post for a second time. This was the first time they
started to understand each other; a small amount of trust was formed. Over time John visited the
Sioux area as well. He is the first person who tells the Sioux where the buffalo have gone. This
creates a bond between John Dunbar and Wind in His Hair. The visits became more and more
frequent; eventually John Dunbar was invited to move in with the Sioux. At first he was hesitant
with the idea but he accepted gladly in the end. Along the way John Dunbar is introduced to
Stands with a Fist, who he eventually calls his wife. John s final step into becoming a Sioux is
when he is leaving and Wind in His Hair is screaming Dances with Wolves you are my friend. This
means John Dunbar was no longer an outsider to the Sioux; had become an important part in the

HOW IS A PRIVATE LTD. DIFFERENT FROM A FRANCHISE?
Franchise:
It is the authorization or a license given to an individual or a group by a government or company
allowing them to carry out commercial activities. Examples of franchise would be providing a
broadcasting service or acting as an agent for a company s product. Franchising is one of the three
strategies that businesses use to gain market share. Companies that want to give a good image of
their products to their customers, use franchising. It is also a method used to satisfy customer

The Imbalances Agriculture in China
Imagine that you are studying at a pleasant university in the countryside. Every day a professor
on tour comes and gives fascinating speech on agriculture. Sounds nice, right? Before long, this
kind of new rural university might be popular in China, for the development of education and
agriculture as well as a solution of too fast urbanization. With 1.4 billion people to feed, China is
now the largest and maybe the most imbalanced agricultural country. Per capita incomes in rural
regions vary a lot. Some farm to make their fortunes, while others farm to live. Moreover, tractors
and chemical fertilizer produces fine crop as well as great disaster. In fact, the negative effect is
even profounder. For example, hardly can you turn soil polluted by fertilizer into what it used
to be. Its micro structure has been damaged irreversibly. In some areas, people are finding their
yield absolutely depends on chemicals. Something must be done to save the COUNTRY. As a
result of tech development, students are liberated to go to cities for further education, which is
commonly believed to be an access to white collar. Bad news is, however, no job is available
when they graduate. Obviously, that is a joke to them. Worse still, cities are expanding and
farmland is decreasing as fast as it can. And the result of arable land loss is that more people are
pushed into urban slums. The urban area in BTH (Beijing Tianjin Hebei region) increased by 71%

Film and Its Impact on the American Culture
Modern film was brought to the Americas when the Kinetoscope, the basic film viewer, was first
invented by Thomas Edison in 1889. This, along with his Kinetograph allowed short films to be
displayed in Kinetoscope parlors; these would later evolve into the movie theaters of today. Many
people loved the concept of movies because they allowed one to see different events from the
comfort of a theater. Films however do more than just entertain they can also impact society in a
beneficial or harmful way. This essay will explore the history of film, its changes throughout time,
and its impact on American culture.
The creation of film first began in 1659 by a Dutch scientist named Christiaan Huygens.
Huygens invented the magic lantern, which later became the slide projector. The magic lantern
used a hand painted glass that was illuminated by a light source to project images through a lens.
Later in 1827 the first photograph was taken, it was a view from a window at the Le Gras and
was taken using a technique involving a glass plate invented by Claude Niepce. This technique
however was not efficient as it took 8 hours to develop. In 1834 the Zoetrope which was an
illusion toy invented by William George Horner in which pictures were put into slots and spun
around and when these were viewed through a mirror the images would appear to move. The
Zoetrope was later adapted by Eadwaerd Muybridge into the Zoopraxinoscope in 1878 while
settling a bet on if a horse s hooves left the ground

Analyse The Importance Of Early Intervention In Children
I have learnt that language can be cognitive, material or social (Gee Hayes, 2011). Some view
language as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people about how to communicate
such as classroom or sporting rules, often supplied in books and followed by people. Children don t
read books so social conventions need to be taught by modelling behaviour and communication.
With the exception of severe disabilities or social problems, all humans acquire language as a core
of basic property of their humanity called vernacular which is used in everyday life Gee Hayes
(2011, p. 8). I believe that this is why early intervention is so important; not to label a child; but to
better support them for further education. Most humans can learn

The Bloodless Revolution Of 1800
The Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was a very important event that shaped our nation into what it
is today. The Revolution changed America s history in major ways. The twelfth amendment was
created and the party divisions that we see today in our modern government are results of the
conflict. The revolution was also a test: could the young nation of America shift power peacefully,
as the founding father s had intended? Or would everything collapse after only one president
leading the country? The Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was an event that changed our nation s
history an ways of government in many important ways. But in order to understand fully the whole
effect this event had on our nation, we must look back a few years before 1800 to the Neutrality
Proclamation, the John Jay Treaty, X Y Z Affair, and the Quasi War.
George Washington, in his second term of office, issued the Neutrality Proclamation in an attempt to
ease the tension and conflict with Britain caused by The French Revolution. Thomas Jefferson,
being so disgusted with Washington s policies, resigned his secretarial position in May of 1793,
when the proclamation was announced. Despite Washington s attempt to fix the conflict, British
ships continued to confiscate American merchant ships because they, in an attempt to remain
neutral, continued to trade with both France and Britain. War soon broke out after that between the
new French Republic and the European Monarchs, much to the

Stargirl Essay Questions
In the book Stargirl by: Jerry Spinelli has many scenes/chapters that make me question

Stargirl is so different that she is the main part of my questions. I wonder if these questions will
get answered soon in my reading. First and foremost, I wondered, Where does Stargirl really
live? The text evidence that made me question this was, After a while she veered from the
highway. I hesitated, then followed. She was walking directly into the setting sun, now a great
orange perched atop the mountain crests. This made me question, Where does she live because by

The Pros And Cons Of The Internet
World Wide Web a phrase that has revolutionized our period of time; without the internet there
would be no place where we would get to watch videos, look at images of cats, and most
importantly cry on the stylish clothes that one may never get. Many individuals tend to stay at
home on this phenomenon for more than eight hours straight, visiting numerous of sites. However,
imagine those services being on one platform which means everything one enjoys doing on
multiple websites: watching movies/videos, viewing images, or buying clothes. Amazon, a
multimillionaire private company, happens to solidify this imagination. The corporation believes
the internet is evolving towards a greater good of every individual doing everything online; mainly
shopping. They believe technology has made it easier for many people to access an online store
through the World Wide Web. However, Amazon has become an empire in such a short amount of
time and will not stop growing. Due to the contrary, Amazon is obviously becoming too powerful.
As said previously, Amazon.comis a privately owned corporation which is basically the internet s
online supermarket filled with various items ranging from fresh apples to the board game,
Monopoly to zebras skin clothing. Crazy items? Well, Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon,
believes that Amazon should be an everything store as he told Fortune Magazine in 2012. He may

The Use and Misuse of Power in Ancient Times
Humankind has come a long way from the nomadic hunter gatherer who drew in caves. In time
society s formed, As society s flourished so did religion and power. A great way to understand an
ancient society is from the ruins of structures and the art left behind. The Palace Complex of
Sargon ll, the Giza Funerary Complex and the Palace at Knossos are all great examples of society s
that are run through religionand power. Delving into the relics that were left behind give a look
into each society and how it worked. The Palace Complex of Sargon ll was a wonderful example
of the concept of absolute power. From the huge gated entrance to the citadel, to the throne room
with a carefully controlled program of architectural and sculptural propaganda designed to
intimidate visitors (Schneider Adams pg. 70) power and promotion of the King is the only
focus. A society led by fear. I would be remiss if I did not mention the more than intimidating
Lamassu waiting to pounce. The Palace is designed to say, this is a powerful king, as powerful
if not more powerful than the gods. The religious ziggurat at this time is an accessory to the
powerful Palace. Religion decisions are made by the king. The Giza Funerary Complex is much
more religious than power based. The main function is several Pharaohs burial tombs. The
religious procedure to put a King to rest very precise and detailed manor. The complex had Temples
and Chapels which helped with offerings and ceremonial events. A

Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson

HP: _____________________
Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or
any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry
rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish
her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary
genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable
through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and
patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than
her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects
include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and
complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to
record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an
amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are
uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series
of several poems
Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her

The Washington Family Analysis
The Washington Family by Edward Savage, painted from 1789 1796, features American s original
First Family. (Fig. 1) George Washington sits around a table in his Mount Vernon home with his
wife, Martha and her two grandchildren, whom the Washingtons adopted following the death of
their parents. Behind them, a household slave stands ready to serve and a vast landscape sprawls
outside the window. Though the painting appears to be a simple, familyportrait, it actually contains
deeper, political messages.
Savage depicts George Washingtonin a domestic setting to showcase his personal life outside of
the presidency; he is depicted with his family and in his private home. However, he is also shown
in uniform, alluding to his role as general. He does not grasp his sword, but instead rests his hand
on a stack of papers, representing his role as statesman. It was well known that Washington
intended to step out of the public sphere following the war before being elected, and that he
continued to long for a quiet life at home throughout his presidency. In this work, Savage depicts
Washington filling roles of general, statesman and patriarch, making the statement that he can fulfil
all three roles. Further, by depicting Washington as a father figure in his domestic setting, Savage
invites his viewers to connect him with the founding of the nations and thus visually establish him
as the Father of our country. Considering the popular print version of the work distributed around

America Needs the Patriot Act Essay example
Is the Patriot Act Unconstitutional? The Patriot Act was introduced in 2001 after the September 11
attacks. The Patriot Acts purpose is to deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around
the world. The Patriot Act Is meant to help stop terrorism by making it easier to get search warrants
for suspected terrorists. The purpose of the Patriot Act is to enable law enforcement officials to
track down and punish those responsible for the attacks on 9/11 and to protect against any similar
attacks. The Act grants the government the powers to trace and intercept terrorist communications

Before the patriot act, intelligence agencies were not allowed to share information with each other
making it more likely for a terrorist attack to happen. People support it because they fear terror
attacks and say that they have nothing to hide. They believe that the Patriot act helps ruin terror
plots and find terrorists. (NPR)
The people that don t support the patriot act believe that it violates the first amendment rights, the
right to protection against unlawful discrimination, the right to due process, and the right to
privacy. The right to privacy is the freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your
private affairs. The main reason that people don t support the patriot act is because of the

could lead to privacy violations of anyone who comes into any form of contact with a terror

between intelligence agencies leads to the development of massive databases of citizens that are
not suspects of terror. They also don t like how the government can use sneak and peek search

Over the past three weeks my partner and I have been studying pests in the Bay of Plenty area and
, and have chosen to research the European hedgehog due to Their extensive damage to the native
species in the Bay of Plenty. Our task is to find an effective solution to mitigate the deleterious
effects of hedgehogs in the Bay of Plenty area and answer some questions which we think are
important to lessening the threat of hedgehogs and raising awareness.
What Impacts Does The Hedgehog Have On It s Food Web The hedgehog has no native predators in
the Bay of Plenty and only has one predator which is the dog. They eat insects, mushrooms and

used by the DOC to try and prevent predators like stoats, rabbits and rats from ruining the native

effectively kill a whole area of hedgehogs and is safe for birds. Flying birds are only harmed if

THE PRESIDENT S POWER TO PARDON
INTRODUCTION
Each Thanksgiving Day, the White House would put on a play of presidential pardon to
ceremoniously pardon a turkey to be slaughtered. The Presidential pardon power is a great tradition
of the United State government, equivalent to the privilege of the king in the United Kingdom. The
founding fathers of the United States wrote the presidential pardon power into the Constitution was
to enable the president to better handle emergencies and political rebellions. The presidential
pardon has been used to appease political insurgencies, such as pardoning rebels at the appropriate
time to restore peace. Another aim of the presidential pardon power is to achieve a balance among

It is wrong to observe the practices of the American judicial system merely through a case.
Basically, the judicial system of the United States is based on the principle of judicial
independence. As long as there is no need for the case to overturn the original judgment and
lodge an appeal, the jury s decision and the judge s sentence must be respected. Moreover, The
Supreme Court never has been called upon to judge the validity of an open pardon like the Nixon

Rip Can Not Find Dame Van Winkle
Our story returns with Rip Van Winkle waking from his, unbeknownst to him, twenty year long
sleep. Angered by the disappearance of his gun and Wolf, he decides to return to the ninepin
amphitheater but does not find the dwarfish men. Rip decides to return to his small village. Along
the way, he meets strangers who stare at him; thus, he discovers that his beard has grown a foot
long. Rip then discovers how his small village has grown; he does not recognize the new faces,
and they do not recognize him. Again, Rip blames the flagon for his confusion. Discovering his
house in shambles, Rip cannot find Dame Van Winkle. New additions to his town, like an American

1) QUOTE: He assured the company that it was a fact handed down from his ancestor the historian
that the Catskill Mountains had always been haunted by strange beings. That it was affirmed that
the great Hendrick Hudson, the first discoverer of the river and country, kept a kind of vigil there
every twenty years, with his crew of the Half Moon being permitted in this way to revisit the
scenes of his enterprise, and keep a guardian eye upon the river, and the great city called by his
name.
STORY CONTEXT: After Rip has told his story, the villagers go to the oldest man in the village,
Peter Vanderdonk, for his opinion. Vanderdonk assures them that the Kaatskill mountains are,
infact, haunted by strange beings rumored to be the discoverer Hendrick Hudson.

Impact Of Karl Marx s View On Religion
Marx View on Religion
Karl Marx was born and raised in Trier, a city that was then in the Kingdom of Prussia but now
occupies southwestern Germany on the French border. He died of respiratory problems in London
in 1883.
Marx came from a Jewish background, but his father converted to Lutheranism to avoid losing his
work as a lawyer in anti Semitic Prussia.1 His home was only Christian in name and largely non
religious. Marx, of course, became the atheist we all know.
Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit
of spiritless conditions. It is the opium of the people
In my view I feel Karl Marx is famous for writing this very statement, I m sure people who don t
know him too well would still know his name by stating this statement. Even though Marx was
very critical of religion I feel in a way he was also quite sympathetic of it. For Marx, ideology is a
belief system that changes people s perception of reality in ways that serve the interests of the
ruling class. He argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Tourism Industry In Queensland
1.0 Introduction
Tourism is a key player in the development of any nation because of the revenue that the industry
accrues as well as the exchange of social and political ideologies between the tourists and the
populace. As such, tourism in the Queensland has been a major player in the economic, social and
political development of the nation (Schaffer 2010). The tourism industry has set up measures to
meet the increasing and sophisticated needs of tourists in all tourism sectors through identification
of niche markets then developed best tourism products for such markets (Hayes 2010). This paper

This group handles over half a million tourists per year with 20 per cent of them being sport
tourists. The AOT branch that deals with sports tourists in Queensland is located in Brisbane, the
capital of Queensland. AOT has its own accommodation resorts in many sport resorts that are fully
equipped with all tours products and services. However, the increasing number of sports tourists in
Queensland has been a challenge to AOT in trying to service all of them. This increase in market
segment has strained the management of the tours company leading to outsourcing some of the
services such as accommodation and travel agents.

The Awakening, By Kate Chopin
Fate is a highly questionable topic when it comes to how people live their lives. Many people can
t comprehend giving their life up to chance, but many believe it to be the best way to live. Fate is
the destined path given to each person to implement throughout their lifetime. It can t be stopped,
or reasoned with, merely accepted. Many characters struggle with idea of fate in The Awakening,
but nobody accepts fate more than Edna. In Kate Chopin s novel The Awakening, fate is used as
an irrepressible force that manipulates Edna in order to give her a better life. For Edna, her fate
seemed to have left much to be desired in the beginning of the novel. She is left, lamenting at
Fate, which had directed her footsteps to the path which they had taken, (Chopin 8). By using
fate as a proper noun, Chopin gives it an identity. Edna s life was seized by fate and she is
feeling grief about the direction her life has been taken. She s blames fate for the choices she
made as a young woman, and now Edna is regretting it. She was a grown young woman when
she was overtaken by what she supposed to be the climax of her fate, (Chopin 18). She is young,
but yet fate seems to have cursed her with a mediocre life, that has no sign of changing. Early in
the novel Edna couldn t see her routine life changing, but Chopin alluded to it in this quote. She
supposed nothing greater would become of her fate, but reading closely would reveal the
unstoppable and ever evolving will of fate. However,

The Importance Of Critical Thinking From Affecting School...
The importance for an individual to be able to think critically has become a hot topic within recent
years. Many adults are entering the workforce and are unable to complete aspects of their jobs that
require them to think critically. Many are products of an education system that consisted of
multiple choice assessments that only required them to recall the information, not to evaluate and
synthesize it. Initiatives have been put in place to prevent this lack of critical thinking from
affecting school aged children. More recently these initiatives have moved into higher educationas
well.
Critical thinking is defined in many different ways. Like many other researchers in the field of
critical thinking Halpern (1993) argues that there is little agreement on the definition of critical
thinking. However, she believes that overlap in various definition of the concept does exist. One of
the main themes throughout the multiple definitions is that critical thinking is a higher order
cognitive skill. This means that more information is needed to solve the problem or answer a
question than just basic recall information or lower order thinking. Halpern (1998) describes higher
order skills as being relatively complex in nature. Higher order skills require judgment, analysis, and
synthesis. They are not applied in a rote or mechanical manner. This type of thinking is thinking
that is reflective, sensitive to the context, and self monitored.
Moore (2011) acknowledges that a debate

The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth Essay
The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth s poem The world is too much with us is a statement about conflict between
nature and humanity. The symbolism in his poem illustrates a sense of the conviction and deep
feelings Wordsworth had toward nature. He longs for a much simpler time when the progress of
humanity was tempered by the restriction nature imposed. Wordsworth is saying in this poem that
man is wasting his time on earth by not appreciating nature around him. He is looking but not
beholding. We have given our hearts away (4) means that we have sold the part of us that is from
the earth (man which is from dust) in order to make other things more important than appreciating
life; such as, money or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike society, Wordsworth does not see nature as a commodity. The verse Little we see in
Nature that is ours (3), shows that coexisting is the relationship envisioned. This relationship
appears to be at the mercy of mankind because of the vulnerable way nature is described. The
verse This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon (5), gives the vision of a woman exposed to the
heavens. In addition, the phrase sleeping flowers (7) might also describe how nature is being
overrun unknowingly.
Wordsworth seems to foresee the inevitable, because he sees himself as one with the
environment. The verse I, standing on this pleasant lea, have glimpses that would make me less
forlorn (11 12), shows Wordsworth as a visionary who is not responsible for the destruction of
nature. In addition, the change Wordsworth is hoping for will come in the form of a mighty
revolt by nature. This is why Wordsworth reaches back into ancient Greece for their gods who
symbolize nature and strength to make the change. Proteus was a sea god who could change his
appearance to get away from capture. Proteus is seen rising from the sea, facing the injustices
inflicted upon nature, placing the cycle of life back in balance. The ability to change ones
appearance is critical in facing the variety of threats mankind might impose. The god Triton was
also mentioned as a savior to nature as well. Triton was the most imposing of the gods

Variance Is A Statistical Method Used For Test Differences...
Analysis of variance is a statistical method used to test differences between two or more means.
ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA
conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One
Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any
significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate
which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to
make inferences about the population means. The one way ANOVA, two kinds of variables:

statistically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running
additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand,
has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many
controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any
statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests.
In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that
each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at
least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The
alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly
different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and
independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent
on another. The distributions of the populations from which the samples are selected are normal;
This is commonly referred as the assumption of normality. The variances of the distributions in the
populations are equal. This is often referred as the assumption of homogeneity of variance.

Lyme disease was discovered in the 1970 s, as any other disease was, by a large number of cases,

Customer Satisfaction is one of the main topics rises recently. Before years there was a revelation
of a customer service to concentrate on customer, to treat with him in a better way, to please and
fulfill his demands of the customer. In order to achieve that, researchers analyzed the customer
population then took random samples and after that generalized the results and came with
procedures to treat and please the customers. The first thing is spark in the satisfaction of the

According to Business Dictionary definition it is the degree of satisfaction provided by the good or

Or it is the number of customers or percentage of total customers, whose reported experience with
a firm, its products, or its services (ratings) exceeds specified satisfaction goals. (Paul W. and

Customer satisfaction can be experienced in a variety of situations and connected to both goods and
services. It is a highly personal assessment that is greatly affected by customer expectations.
Satisfaction also is based on the customer s experience of both contacts with the organization and

Some researchers define a satisfied customer within the private sector as one who receives

Airlines must be able to make a profit when setting ticket prices. By comparing the demand curve
with the average total cost curves for each airplane type, the airline can determine which size

In summary, as with any product, from airline tickets to gasoline prices consumers have continued
to pay the increased fares, so the airlines have become bolder in driving the prices up even further.
(Smith, CNNMoney, 2011) Consumers, their desire, need and want for an item or service will

author states, Taco Bellis offering a free taco to everyone in the United States if the core of the Mir
space station hits a floating Taco Bell target placed in the South Pacific. In March 2001 Taco
Bell painted their logo in the middle of the 40x40 foot flotation device, surrounded by target
rings and Free Taco Here painted in big purple letters. If the Mir would have hit the target,
coupon distribution, redemption and offer details would have been made available to consumers
on the Taco Bell Web site. Taco Bell has purchased an insurance policy to cover the anticipated
cost of the free taco redemption if the core of Mir would have hit the target. Sadly the Mir landed
off course near Chile and America was devastated.

twenty million dead in its track. Despite the atrocious consequences of this disease, it yielded a
favourable aftermath such as the stability of the European population and the increase in demand
for work (Damen, 2015). Similarly to The Black Death, the novel Crusher by Niall Leonard shows
that positive outcomes often appear from situations that may seem negative. The protagonist of the
novel, Finn Maguire, finds himself as the prime suspect in the murder investigation of his father,
Noel. The murder of Finn s father and his pursuit to clear his name reflect the notion that there are
trials that appear bitter to the core which are often blessings in disguise. As a result of Noel s
murder, Finn forms a passionate relationship with a girl named Zoe, reconnects with his mother, and
obtains a grand inheritance from Noel s friend.
Meeting Zoe is one of the positive things that happen to Finn as a result of his father s murder
investigation. Their paths intersect when Finn is gathering information about Noel from his
friends. Zoe and Finn are the first person in each other s lives that reciprocate the love and
affection they have to offer. Unlike Zoe, Noel fails to deliver the In Noel s case, his drinking
addiction and naive optimism of reviving his acting job leave Finn as the caregiving figure and the
one responsible for paying most of the bills, struggling to make financial ends meet.

  • 2. Essay Texas Toll Roads Texas Toll Roads an examination of tolling and alternate measures Nothing that has occurred in the last several years in Texas has been quite as controversial as the new and increased usage of toll roads for new road construction. We have heard many statements that the toll roads are being built as a money making system for the state (and the Department of Transportation). Statements have also been made to the effect that the state is selling the state, one length of roadway at a time; that the current roads could be maintained by the state, with current state funding levels. The main complaint is that the roads of Texas have always been free, and should continue to be free. But are these arguments correct? Texas Roads have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As well, the money which is currently being gathered to fund road maintenance and building in Texas, is not all going to road maintenance or building. At this time, 18.4 cents is gathered as a federal gasoline tax, and 20 cents is gathered as a state gas tax. However, the federal tax is sent to Washington, and we only receive back 87 cents of every dollar sent (the rest goes to other states). As an example of this, Rhode Island gets back $2.10 for every dollar in gas tax that they send to Washington. For the state gas taxes gathered, it is even worse. Of the money gathered by the state, almost 1 billion dollars is sent to other state agencies (such as the Department of Public Safety, Education, and other state colleges and state parks).3 This money is regulated by the state government to go to these other agencies, which detracts from the department of transportation s ability to handle road maintenance. So, even before taking into account the increases due to inflation, the budget of TxDOT is decreased by $1 billion dollars (almost half of which goes to the state s educational system). The state is selling itself, one length of roadway at a time. People seem to want to believe that the state is giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However by the end of the film relationships grew and formed between the two groups of people. The first time John Dunbar saw the Sioux people he was being yelled at by one of them. The Sioux were afraid of the strange new white man and were not quite sure what to do with him. Eventually the Sioux visited John Dunbar s post for a second time. This was the first time they started to understand each other; a small amount of trust was formed. Over time John visited the Sioux area as well. He is the first person who tells the Sioux where the buffalo have gone. This creates a bond between John Dunbar and Wind in His Hair. The visits became more and more frequent; eventually John Dunbar was invited to move in with the Sioux. At first he was hesitant with the idea but he accepted gladly in the end. Sounds nice, right? Before long, this kind of new rural university might be popular in China, for the development of education and agriculture as well as a solution of too fast urbanization. With 1.4 billion people to feed, China is now the largest and maybe the most imbalanced agricultural country. Per capita incomes in rural regions vary a lot. Some farm to make their fortunes, while others farm to live. Moreover, tractors and chemical fertilizer produces fine crop as well as great disaster. In fact, the negative effect is even profounder. For example, hardly can you turn soil polluted by fertilizer into what it used to be. Its micro structure has been damaged irreversibly. In some areas, people are finding their yield absolutely depends on chemicals. Something must be done to save the COUNTRY. As a result of tech development, students are liberated to go to cities for further education, which is commonly believed to be an access to white collar. • 7. Film and Its Impact on the American Culture Modern film was brought to the Americas when the Kinetoscope, the basic film viewer, was first invented by Thomas Edison in 1889. This, along with his Kinetograph allowed short films to be displayed in Kinetoscope parlors; these would later evolve into the movie theaters of today. Many people loved the concept of movies because they allowed one to see different events from the comfort of a theater. Films however do more than just entertain they can also impact society in a beneficial or harmful way. This essay will explore the history of film, its changes throughout time, and its impact on American culture. The creation of film first began in 1659 by a Dutch scientist named Christiaan Huygens. Huygens invented the magic lantern, which later became the slide projector. The magic lantern used a hand painted glass that was illuminated by a light source to project images through a lens. Later in 1827 the first photograph was taken, it was a view from a window at the Le Gras and was taken using a technique involving a glass plate invented by Claude Niepce. This technique however was not efficient as it took 8 hours to develop. In 1834 the Zoetrope which was an illusion toy invented by William George Horner in which pictures were put into slots and spun around and when these were viewed through a mirror the images would appear to move. The Zoetrope was later adapted by Eadwaerd Muybridge into the Zoopraxinoscope in 1878 while settling a bet on if a horse s hooves left the ground ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some view language as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people about how to communicate such as classroom or sporting rules, often supplied in books and followed by people. Children don t read books so social conventions need to be taught by modelling behaviour and communication. With the exception of severe disabilities or social problems, all humans acquire language as a core of basic property of their humanity called vernacular which is used in everyday life Gee Hayes (2011, p. 8). The Revolution changed America s history in major ways. The twelfth amendment was created and the party divisions that we see today in our modern government are results of the conflict. The revolution was also a test: could the young nation of America shift power peacefully, as the founding father s had intended? Or would everything collapse after only one president leading the country? The Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was an event that changed our nation s history an ways of government in many important ways. But in order to understand fully the whole effect this event had on our nation, we must look back a few years before 1800 to the Neutrality Proclamation, the John Jay Treaty, X Y Z Affair, and the Quasi War. George Washington, in his second term of office, issued the Neutrality Proclamation in an attempt to ease the tension and conflict with Britain caused by The French Revolution. Thomas Jefferson, being so disgusted with Washington s policies, resigned his secretarial position in May of 1793, when the proclamation was announced. Despite Washington s attempt to fix the conflict, British ships continued to confiscate American merchant ships because they, in an attempt to remain neutral, continued to trade with both France and Britain. Death Versus Death By Emily Dickinson Maheen Chranya English HP E Ratliff April 21, 2015 Term Paper Rough Draft HP: _____________________ Death versus Death but the Points go to Dickinson Emily Dickinson was born in a time when not many women involved themselves in poetry or any form of intellectual capability. Despite this, she was such a wonderful poet that her poetry rivaled Whitman s. Of course, she was never able to rival him because she chose not to publish her poetry in her lifetime. Once the world saw her poetry, however, it was shocked by the literary genius who had lived in seclusion for a good majority of her life. Her style is very distinguishable through it is excessive but purposeful punctuation and 8 6 8 6 rhyme that matches church songs and patriotic songs like Amazing Grace and Glory to God on High. The church influenced more than her style, however, as much of her subject matter pertains to her unorthodox beliefs. Other subjects include hope and sometimes humor, but her ideas on death are both very interesting and complicated. Dickinson does not make light of death, but she uses her poems as her diary to record her thoughts on death. She moves rapidly from thinking death is passive to thinking it is an amazing honor, but she also thinks of it in a terrified sense. Emily Dickinson s views on death are uncertain, she varies between finding death casual, positive and romantic, and negative in a series of several poems Many people may fear death, but Emily Dickinson sometimes expressed in her ... • 20. The Washington Family Analysis The Washington Family by Edward Savage, painted from 1789 1796, features American s original First Family. (Fig. 1) George Washington sits around a table in his Mount Vernon home with his wife, Martha and her two grandchildren, whom the Washingtons adopted following the death of their parents. Behind them, a household slave stands ready to serve and a vast landscape sprawls outside the window. Though the painting appears to be a simple, familyportrait, it actually contains deeper, political messages. Savage depicts George Washingtonin a domestic setting to showcase his personal life outside of the presidency; he is depicted with his family and in his private home. However, he is also shown in uniform, alluding to his role as general. He does not grasp his sword, but instead rests his hand on a stack of papers, representing his role as statesman. It was well known that Washington intended to step out of the public sphere following the war before being elected, and that he continued to long for a quiet life at home throughout his presidency. In this work, Savage depicts Washington filling roles of general, statesman and patriarch, making the statement that he can fulfil all three roles. Further, by depicting Washington as a father figure in his domestic setting, Savage invites his viewers to connect him with the founding of the nations and thus visually establish him as the Father of our country. • 30. The Awakening, By Kate Chopin Fate is a highly questionable topic when it comes to how people live their lives. Many people can t comprehend giving their life up to chance, but many believe it to be the best way to live. Fate is the destined path given to each person to implement throughout their lifetime. It can t be stopped, or reasoned with, merely accepted. Many characters struggle with idea of fate in The Awakening, but nobody accepts fate more than Edna. In Kate Chopin s novel The Awakening, fate is used as an irrepressible force that manipulates Edna in order to give her a better life. For Edna, her fate seemed to have left much to be desired in the beginning of the novel. She is left, lamenting at Fate, which had directed her footsteps to the path which they had taken, (Chopin 8). By using fate as a proper noun, Chopin gives it an identity. Edna s life was seized by fate and she is feeling grief about the direction her life has been taken. She s blames fate for the choices she made as a young woman, and now Edna is regretting it. She was a grown young woman when she was overtaken by what she supposed to be the climax of her fate, (Chopin 18). She is young, but yet fate seems to have cursed her with a mediocre life, that has no sign of changing. Early in the novel Edna couldn t see her routine life changing, but Chopin alluded to it in this quote. She supposed nothing greater would become of her fate, but reading closely would reveal the unstoppable and ever evolving will of fate. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Importance Of Critical Thinking From Affecting School... The importance for an individual to be able to think critically has become a hot topic within recent years. Many adults are entering the workforce and are unable to complete aspects of their jobs that require them to think critically. Many are products of an education system that consisted of multiple choice assessments that only required them to recall the information, not to evaluate and synthesize it. Initiatives have been put in place to prevent this lack of critical thinking from affecting school aged children. More recently these initiatives have moved into higher educationas well. Critical thinking is defined in many different ways. Like many other researchers in the field of critical thinking Halpern (1993) argues that there is little agreement on the definition of critical thinking. However, she believes that overlap in various definition of the concept does exist. One of the main themes throughout the multiple definitions is that critical thinking is a higher order cognitive skill. This means that more information is needed to solve the problem or answer a question than just basic recall information or lower order thinking. Halpern (1998) describes higher order skills as being relatively complex in nature. Higher order skills require judgment, analysis, and synthesis. They are not applied in a rote or mechanical manner. This type of thinking is thinking that is reflective, sensitive to the context, and self monitored. Moore (2011) acknowledges that a debate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth Essay The World is Too Much With Us by William Wordsworth William Wordsworth s poem The world is too much with us is a statement about conflict between nature and humanity. The symbolism in his poem illustrates a sense of the conviction and deep feelings Wordsworth had toward nature. He longs for a much simpler time when the progress of humanity was tempered by the restriction nature imposed. Wordsworth is saying in this poem that man is wasting his time on earth by not appreciating nature around him. He is looking but not beholding. We have given our hearts away (4) means that we have sold the part of us that is from the earth (man which is from dust) in order to make other things more important than appreciating life; such as, money or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike society, Wordsworth does not see nature as a commodity. The verse Little we see in Nature that is ours (3), shows that coexisting is the relationship envisioned. This relationship appears to be at the mercy of mankind because of the vulnerable way nature is described. The verse This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon (5), gives the vision of a woman exposed to the heavens. In addition, the phrase sleeping flowers (7) might also describe how nature is being overrun unknowingly. Wordsworth seems to foresee the inevitable, because he sees himself as one with the environment. The verse I, standing on this pleasant lea, have glimpses that would make me less forlorn (11 12), shows Wordsworth as a visionary who is not responsible for the destruction of nature. In addition, the change Wordsworth is hoping for will come in the form of a mighty revolt by nature. This is why Wordsworth reaches back into ancient Greece for their gods who symbolize nature and strength to make the change. Proteus was a sea god who could change his appearance to get away from capture. Proteus is seen rising from the sea, facing the injustices inflicted upon nature, placing the cycle of life back in balance. The ability to change ones appearance is critical in facing the variety of threats mankind might impose. The god Triton was also mentioned as a savior to nature as well. Triton was the most imposing of the gods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to make inferences about the population means. The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand, has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests. In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent on another. The distributions of the populations from which the samples are selected are normal; This is commonly referred as the assumption of normality.
