The 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots in India
The 1984 Anti Sikh Riots in India
The Anti Sikh riots in the 1984 year of riots had been anything in particular. People are aggrieved
when they hear of the incident and narrate stories of how runaway crime could have increased on
Sikhs during the time. The main reason for the advent of the riots was the shooting down of Mrs.
Indira Gandhi in morning of 31 October 1984. The riots had started off in the evening just after her
morning death. The information of the riots was already taken by Giyani Jail Singhji that meeting of
congress leaders Arun Nehru, HKL Bhagat and Jagdish Tytler and more were deciding to give a
slogan called khoon ka badla khoon . The first riot took place in the evening near Delhi market of
INA, near south Delhi.
The riots were a challenge to the government to counter the overt insurgency effects, people security
and unplanned measures. In revenge for the army raid she (Mrs. Indira Gandhi) had approved on
Amritsar s Golden temple the center of Sikh faith, occupied by major Sikh Nationalists, was the
reason purported to be the fact on the riots gaining more fire. Officially, the 492 civilians as well as 83
soldiers had got killed in the operation.
Also CBI the main investigating agency has been of the opinion that many such violence based riots
might have also in this incident been supported with help of police and Central government. Later on
the Rajiv Gandhi government had come to power and he had said about the incident as when a big tree

Data Mining is a Technique Used to Clarify and Classify Data
Data Mining is a technique used in various domains to give meaning to the available data and different
types of Data to be handled like numerical data, non numeric data, image data...etc. In classification
tree modelling the data is classified to make predictions about new data. Using old data to predict new
data has the danger of being too fitted on the old data. In this we evaluated different types of data to be
collected from UCI repository for classify the data using the different classification algorithms J48,
Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, IBK. This paper evaluates the classification accuracy before applying the
feature selection algorithms and comparing the classification accuracy after applying the feature
selection with learning algorithms.
1. Introduction
As computer and database technologies develop rapidly, data accumulates in a speed unmatchable by
human capacity of data processing[2]. Data mining as a multidisciplinary joint effort from databases,
machine learning and statistics, is championing in turning mountains of data into nuggets. Researchers
and practitioners realize that in order to use data mining tools effectively, data processing is essential
to successful data mining.PrimitiveThese are features which have an influence on the output and their
role cannot be assumed by the rest.[1]
Feature selection can be found in many areas of data mining such as classification, clustering,
association rules and regression. For example, feature selection is

The second leading cause of death related to cancer in the United States is colorectal cancer. The VA
medical center has made it a priority to screen veterans 50 years and older via a fecal occult blood test
(FOBT), sigmoidoscopy, and/or colonoscopy. The VA tracked the number of FOBT cards given to
patients and how many were returned. The demographics of those who did not return the cards
include: non Caucasian patients, women, smokers, those living in rural areas, patients with health
literacy issues, and patients with cognitive conditions associated with age (Department of Veterans

Finding ways to enhance the practice or patient care should remain a priority. The simple task of
revising the colonoscopy instruction sheets will not only benefit the patient, it also benefits the staff
and organization. The procedure room is set up before each patient arrives and when the procedure is
aborted or rescheduled due to an inadequate prep, supplies are wasted. This also leaves the staff sitting
around waiting for the next scheduled patient. The blame for the backlog has been placed on the VA
medical center, however, those who are non compliant or continuously cancels are not held
accountable. There should be no excuse involving the instruction sheets once revised. The patient
should leave the hospital feeling educated and ready to be compliant with the regimen. The VA
medical center is making every effort to help the veterans receive the necessary care and revising the
instruction sheets is a problem in the GI lab that needed addressing. References

Commerce Bank was to stay ahead, who wants to leave a clear impression in customer s minds. It paid
more attention on its service, not price. Retailtainment is the mean idea of Commerce Bank.

For Commerce Bank, the good relationship between bank and customers is the most important thing,
who wants to keep a high customer loyalty, than care about the profitability.
Although Banking industry paid more attention on on line bank, but for Commerce Bank, who

United States Army Career Analysis
The United States Army is known as the senior and largest branch of the Armed Forces. It performs
land based operations along with assisting other branches of the service. Our modern army is
descended from the Continental Army, which was formed on June 14, 1775 in order to fight in the
Revolutionary War before the United States was an established country. Later, on June 3, 1784, the
Congress of the Confederation created the United States Army to replace the dismantled Continental
Army. There are differences of opinions as to when the official birthday of the Army is. Some consider
1784 as the start of our Army, while others say June 14, 1775 is the official birthday of the United
States Army, ( The United States Army, 2015). I agree with 1775 ... Show more content on

There are many AIT schools; and at the schools you will get a hands on education and field instruction
to enhance your expertise in the chosen field. I will do AIT at the Engineering School, because of my
chosen job, Combat Engineer, also called Sappers. Sappers are very important to the success of any
Army mission. During the Advanced Individualized Training, as a Sapper, I will learn a wide variety
of engineering skills that may include: bridge building, structural maintenance, and electrical repair.
There are different tasks generally for Combat Engineers that go with the skills taught including:
building and constructing bridges, minefield clearance and detonation, and any other task requiring the
specialized skills, (www.wood.army.mil/sapper). Sappers sometimes work with other branches to clear
a route of obstacles and rivers for a convoy to pass or ground troops to pass. Detecting the mines will
be done visually as well as with detectors. Sometimes they have to fix floating bridges, so learning to
swim can be important. Also, they construct fighting, obstacle, and defensive positions during special
missions. Combat Engineers primarily supervise and serve or assist as a member of a team when
tackling rough terrain in combat situations. The expertise provides mobility, counter mobility,
survivability, and general engineering duties. To do all the duties I previously mentioned, you must
first take the Armed Services Vocational Battery and get at least an 87. I made a 99.6, which says I am
very adaptable. This test will help you understand your strengths and identify if Combat Engineering
is your right fit. Engineers require additional 14 weeks of One Station Unit Training,
(www.wood.army.mil/sapper). Some of this classroom time is indoors, while the rest is in the field on

Analysis Of Forgiving My GuiltAndForgive My Guilt
Responsibility is an important quality that mature people possess. People make mistakes, but the
maturity level of a person is determined by whether or not the person takes responsibility for their
errors. The short story The Man Who Was Almost a Man by Richard Wright and the lyric poem
Forgive My Guilt by Robert Coffin both fixate on young boys who wrongly take the lives of creatures
with a weapon. The short story and the lyric poem share a common theme regarding the significance
of early life experiences to the maturation process as seen in the way the main characters react to their
mistakes. Dave in The Man Who was Almost a Man runs away from his problems while the narrator
in Forgive My Guilt holds himself accountable for his action and feels guilty. In the short story, The
Man Who Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright uses colloquial language to develop the theme. For
instance, in the scene where Dave is accused of killing the mule, the difference in speech used by
Dave, a black sharecropper, and Jim Hawkins, his white employer, is evident. Jim Hawkins uses a
more formal language when talking to Dave: Well, looks like you have you a mule, Dave (5). In stark
contrast, Dave responds using a more informal way of speaking: Ah swear fo Gawd, Ah didn t go t kill
the mule, Mistah Hawkins (5). The speech in the story shows the varying degrees of education of the
characters in the story and depicts the segregation in the South between whites and blacks. Dave is

Decentralized Wastewater Systems Regulatory And Economic...
6. Decentralized Wastewater Systems Regulatory and Economic Challenges
During the last twenty years the USEPA has been evaluating decentralized wastewater treatment
technologies as a reliable alternative for wastewater treatment. In 1997, the EPA submitted to congress
its Report and subsequent documents endorsing decentralized wastewater treatment as a permanent
long term solution for wastewater treatment. The Report stated that adequately managed decentralized
wastewater systems are a cost effective long term option for meeting public health and water quality
goals, particularly in less densely populated areas. The following is a summary the key components of
the Report:

Also decentralized systems are suitable for a variety of site conditions, including shallow water tables
or bedrock, low permeability soils, and small lot sizes. One of the additional benefits is that
decentralized systems are also suitable for ecologically sensitive areas (where advanced treatment,
such as nutrient removal or disinfection is necessary). Since centralized systems require collection of
wastewater for an entire community at substantial cost, decentralized systems, when properly
installed, operated and maintained, can achieve significant cost savings while recharging local aquifers
and providing other water reuse opportunities close to points of wastewater generation (USEPA 1997).
This benefit not only help alleviates the cost burden but also helps to improve the watershed
conditions.
The EPA Report also evaluated the obstacles that decentralized system may confront and ways to
overcome the barriers were presented. The following are the most common barriers for the
implementation of decentralized systems:
Lack of Knowledge and Public Misperception. The perception of some homeowners, realtors, and
developers that centralized systems are better for property values and are more acceptable than
decentralized systems, even if they are far more costly, makes it difficult to demonstrate that properly

Ukulele Research Paper
The Ukulele
The ukulele is a member of the lute family of instruments; meaning that the strings run in a plane
parallel to the sound table. Most people believe that the ukulele originated in Hawaii however, they
actually had their first start in Portugal in 139 B. C in the Lusitania tribe. By the thirteenth century,
four string instruments were being used in Spain, when six string instruments were introduced in the
1700s the popularity of chordophones exploded. (A chordophone is a musical instrument that makes
sound by way of a vibrating string or strings stretched between two points.) Although we all picture
ukuleles as a Hawaiian instrument, it wasn t until 1879 that the first ukulele was brought over from
Portugal. One of the Portuguese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manuel Nunes also suggested a different tuning pattern to make chord formation easier. The body of
the ukulele is usually made from wood. The type of wood has a significant impact on the sound, tone,
and quality. Mahogany is thought to be the finest wood for making ukuleles. It also has excellent
aging properties, sounding better as it gets older. Typically, the same type of wood is used for the
entire instrument. The ukulele is a small instrument that looks like a miniature version of a guitar. It
consists of a short neck, the main body, four strings and tuning keys, a bridge, a fretboard, and a sound
hole. There are a variety of different types of ukuleles including the soprano, concert, tenor, and
baritone. The soprano is the smallest (20 inches) and the baritone is the largest (30 inches). The strings
are tuned to the notes G C E A on all ukuleles except the Baritone. Tuning for the Baritone is D G B E
because it has a deeper sound like that of a guitar. Fun fact about the ukulele: Neil Armstrong loved to
play the ukulele in his downtime. After his trip to the moon, he feared that he had contracted a strange
bacterium, so he spent weeks in quarantine, often

Life Cycle And Its Effects On Life Cycles
Salamanders, also known as the urodeles, are one of the few amphiabians that keep their tails during
the process of being an adult. Their life cycle begins as being eggs within the environment of water,
soon to be evolved to larvas. These larvas are basically developing into the stage of being a full adult.
Typically when most people think of regeneration, the thought of rebuilding comes into mind. In the
same respect, a salamander possesses this ability and uses it to their advantage. Regeneration is the
process of rebuilding certain cells, tissues or limbs. It s an intricate progression that allows different
animals to survive against their predators. Regeneration allows the salamander to escape their
predators by losing an appendage, with the hope of preventing capture and subsequent consumption.
Salamander regeneration holds so much value to the world and it s surrounding life cycles. This
overpowering ability is being overlooked, yet at the same time imagine how renowned it would be if
we can link a gene that would aid with our regenerating gene. At a young age, we are all born with the
ability to regenerate; we are able to regenerate our fingertips until the age of three...now try to apply
that to future of regenerative therapy and medicine. Imagine how many benefits would be distributed
amongst our cells, our organs, and the list goes on. The underlying process that goes with regeneration
is the genetic materials; retinoic acid (MSX1) and taxon specific proteins such

Before the red sandstone building came to life, there was a county jail that opened in 1897. Initially,
the County of Orange bought land in 1893 from Santa Ana s founder, William Spurgeon, with the
intention to build a courthouse (ocparks). Originally, Orange Courthouse had no courthouse. So, by
July 1900, construction began through the use of architect Charles Strange s drawings. They were

The Henry Ford McCracken case was heard in 1952, and became historically the longest trial in the
Old Courthouse (first floor of courthouse). He was convicted of kidnapping 12 year old Patricia Jean
Hull from a movie theater and into his cottage in Buena Park. Not only did he sexually assault her, but
killed her. For three years, the media was drawn to his escape of the gas chamber, and was put to death
on Feb. 19, 1954 at the age of 36 (ocregister). Agriculture is an important California symbol so it is no
surprise that there was a case held at the Old Courthouse about agriculture known as The State of

employees as agricultural workers due to the fact that they worked on a ranch. They really did mean
all of their workers, even the bookkeepers, cooks, and the rest of the office staff. The State of

on all their non agricultural workers. However, the court ruled that majority of the Irvine s employees
were agricultural workers by 1942. Aside from cases, the Old Courthouse has appeared in a variety of

Essay on How Boyle s Law Relates to Respiratory Care
This paper is going to discuss Boyle s Law and how it relates to respiratory care. It will define what
the law is, how it works, and why it is important to us. We use this law every day without even
thinking about it. So many of our everyday activities and actions are related to certain gas laws that
have been built into our lives at home and at work. Without many of the gas laws we would not have
the advancements that we have today. Boyle s Law has had a very important role in our lives. It is the
reason why we have the medical technology that we have today and why it keeps improving. Because
of Boyle s law, the medical profession saves lives and improves lives every day.
In the 1600 s Robert Boyle from Ireland explained the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our bodies do it on their own by moving air into the lungs when a muscle called the diaphragm, along
with other nearby muscles, contract and causes the chest cavity to expand. Then air is exhaled when
these muscles relax, and the lung tissue returns or recoils to its original size (Jardins 2013) . When the
patient needs help with breathing due to a disease, surgery or the use of medications which stop the
muscle from working on their own, a ventilator is a life saving replacement. The volume of oxygen in
the cylinder is depressed down and the pressure increases moving the oxygen through the tubes into
the patient.
The plethysmography technique applies to Boyle s law and uses measurements of volume and
pressure changes to determine lung volume, assuming the temperature is constant. The
plethysmography technique measures the volume of all compressible gas in the thorax, including gas
trapped behind airway obstructions or in the pleural space (Kacmarek 2013). This is just another
example of how important Boyle s law has become to the medical profession.
As this report states, Boyle s law is very important in our everyday lives and in the medical
profession. The advancements in respiratory care in modern day medicine have been greatly enhanced
with the application of Boyle s law which was developed over 400 years ago by Robert Boyle a native
of Ireland. As a respiratory therapist we work with Boyle s law every day to help patients

Thesis Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby, the Scrivener is a remarkable short story written by author Herman Melville. The narrator of
the story is a lawyer who owns his own law practice located on Wall Street and has various scriveners
who work for him. The first scrivener he describes is named Turkey. He is an excellent worker in the
morning, but as the day goes on his work begins to become messy and sloppy. He also has an ill
temper in the afternoon. The lawyer tries to have Turkey work only in the morning, but of course
Turkey argues with him so the lawyer just decides to give him less import work in the afternoon. The
second worker that the narrator describes is Nippers, is the complete opposite from Turkey. He is a
young and has an ambitious attitude. Although he has trouble working in the morning, he is always on
task and works best in the afternoon and evening hours. The next employee is not a scrivener but he
works as an errand boy. He is nicknamed Ginger Nut due to the fact that Nippers and Turkey always
send him to get ginger Nut cakes for them.
Lastly, the last employee The Lawyer describes is Bartleby. According to the Lawyer, Bartle is, one of
those beings of whom nothing is ascertainable, except from the original sources, and in his case those
are very small (Melville 1). To him, Bartleby is the most interesting scriveners of all time. Bartleby

Vote In America
The United States of America revolves around a government run to please the consent of the people.
Because of this, citizens have the right to vote for their mayors, governors, judges, and most
importantly, the president. As the leader of the country, the president should be a direct reflection of all
Americans. With that in mind, the current political system of the Electoral College is not an accurate

without winning the popular vote. Therefore, many Americans wonder whether their vote is vital and

Health Promotion on Hepatitis Virus
My health promotion or prevention will take place in a college seminar at community college; I chose
this group of people because I realized many colleges make medical records mandatory for only
students in the health related courses and also freshmen living on campuses. I asked myself, what
about those other students who are doing other courses or major who may also be at risk. The main
purpose for viral hepatitis teaching is to inform the students of the importance or benefits from
vaccines to prevent hepatitis virus. This will take place in the school auditorium to get access to
internet and projector to present the information.
After this teaching, students will be able to learn the following:
The types of viral hepatitis
Causes of the types of hepatitis
Ways of preventing viral hepatitis
The leading cause of liver damage due to viral hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus represents a
major health problem in the United States. CDC estimates that approximately 3.2 million of
Americans are chronically infected with hepatitis C virus, with an estimate of 8,000 to 10,000
hepatitis C virus related deaths annually (CDC foundation).
Hepatitis can be defined as liver inflammation caused by viral infection or toxins like drugs or alcohol
(Myers, 2015). Viral hepatitis is caused by one of the five types of hepatitis viruses, referred to as
types A, B, C, D and E. Each of these types of hepatitis can be contracted in various

Narrative Therapy Essay
Introduction Often times, people live through painful events in their life that can alter their perception
of themselves, their family, and the world. Narrative therapy offers the client the opportunity to re
write their story and gain a different perspective of specific events. It is important to understand that
within the history of narrative therapy, therapists view client s stories through a political lens. Often
times, focusing on the oppression and cultural dominance that exists within the constructs of our
society. Thus, empowering clients to change their story allows them to break free from the constraints
that have shaped their outlook and allow for alternative ways of thinking.
Background of Narrative Therapy According to Atkinson Leslie (2011), narrative therapy is a
postmodern approach, which holds the client as the center of their own perceptions and results in their
personal actions and beliefs. The therapist is there to assist the author (client) in re writing or
developing new stories so that change can occur. This allows the family to create new roles and
understanding of themselves and their family, by creating a new story. Michael White was the pioneer
of narrative therapy and along with David Epston s approach to storytelling and therapeutic letters
they were able to develop this approach. Michael White s wife, Cheryl White, was also instrumental in
assisting these men in the development and publication of their works. Their work was made

Slavery, Slavery And End The Most Brutal Piece Of American...
Slavery began in the United States as soon as the first Europeans stepped foot on the land. Many
people had numerous hardships and losses because of this brutal part of American history. These
slaves would lose every aspect of their lives including their spouses, children, and religion, and the
only thing they gained was the scars on their backs from the beatings their owners brought upon them.
Slavery lasted for over a century in the United States, and it was not until Thomas Jefferson s
Northwest Ordinance that any change was attempted. Preceding Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln
contributed to end slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment,
Andrew Johnson followed with the Fourteenth Amendment, and finally, Ulysses ... Show more

However, they did have black slaves, especially in Maryland, Missouri, Kentucky, and Delaware.
Even the states that everyone knows to be against slavery quietly took part in it in their northern
factories.
The south is the slavery that everyone knows of with slaves from Africa who are born into their lives
of torture. These slaves worked on the plantations and were never able to gain freedom from their
lives as slaves. They worked in treacherous working conditions and masters owned them. Their
masters could sell them whenever they wanted to and whipped them constantly, sometimes for no
reason. Families split up, religion was lost, and scars spread across the slaves backs from the harsh
whips. Thomas Jefferson wanted to put an end to this form of slavery, so he proposed a document that
would do so.
The first sign of free lives in the United States began in the 1787 with the Northwest Ordinance.
Thomas Jefferson proposed the document that stated that any state northwest of the Ohio River would
be equal to the original thirteen states and would not permit slavery ( Primary Documents, 2015a).
This document also allowed settlers to expand their territories and make profits to help with national
debt. The northerners were happy with this new Ordinance because they would not have to compete
with slave labor while the southerners were happy because it would lead to slave

Student Language Assessment Essay
Guild (2001) says We... are products of external influences, especially within our immediate family,
extended community, and culture. This is important, as an educator, to keep in mind when teaching
ELL students. This is important to keep in mind when teaching children from other cultures, also. The
information I gained from reading and watching the learning resources in weeks two and three were
very valuable in observing the student I chose to observe.
The student I chose, J, is in a team member s class. He caught my attention at my school s academic

five years old. He is now nine years old and in third grade. He, his siblings, and his ... Show more

J coming from an uneducated, unprivileged background he has a sense of doing well in school will
give him an excellent chance at having a better life. Having this limited about of knowledge of his
culture I think the best way to get to know any student and their culture better is to talk and listen. You
can learn a lot from listening.
Before delving into my observations on J I want to first describe what his second language acquisition
stage is. Based on what I observed from his communication in class and his writing I have concluded
that he is stage three: the speech emergence stage. He can communicate in simple sentences, but when
he communicates in longer and complex sentences he makes grammatical mistakes. Although he has
been in the country for four years I feel his language development has been hindered by being pushed
along in school, never getting enough one on one instruction, and not enough ELL support in terms of
a teacher pulling him aside to help more often. In a more intense supportive environment I think he
would already be in stage four. Reed (2003) informs readers that having an understanding of ELL
students will dramatically improve the ability to understand and teach an ELL student more.
As I stated before J takes his education very important. His teacher told me that he almost always cries
on a daily basis when he feels like he did not do a good job. Although she said that I did not observe
that while I was in there. He

Summary Of On What There Is
1. Quine in his paper titled On What There Is (Kim, Sosa, Korman, 2012, p. 7 15) aims to provide an
account of two different ontologies and suggests that his answer is the better answer to the ontological
problem. Ontology deals with the question of what there is. The problem is understanding what the
right answer is. In this response, I will explain Quine s criterion of ontological commitment and his
response to McX s argument for the existence of universals. McX is a fictitious philosopher created
for taking a position on an ontology different from his own. Simply put, Quine s criterion for
ontological commitment is that statements must use bound variables because names are not enough to
commit us to an ontology. That is to say, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quine would disagree and respond that skies, cars, and t shirts discuss particular objects and blue
things are predicates of those objects. There does not need to be some universal aspect for the
existence of blue to have meaning. All we need to do is use bound variables and make an ontological
commitment saying that there is something that is a car and blue. Quine avoids confronting the
argument about the existence of universals by disregarding McX s argument.
2. In order to explain and evaluate the view that a concrete particular is a combination of its features
and a substratum. We must first define what these terms mean. A concrete particular is a
spatiotemporal individual entity that has causal powers. To put this another way, concrete particulars
exist within space and time with one location. A specific concrete particular cannot exist in more than
one location at a time. For example, a concrete particular could be a book. The view that these
particulars are combinations of is features and substratum is a way to quantify how they exist.
Features are the characteristics a substance has. For example, a book has a feature of rectangularity. A
substratum or a box theory of concrete particulars suggest that concrete particulars are a combination
of its features and contained by their location. To put this another way, a substratum adds order to the
set of features while having location as the container that separates a single book particular from other

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Texas Government
Padilla 1 Padilla 3 Maureen Padilla Prof.
Sharifian GOVT 2306 73434 30 Apr. 2017 Local Control In Texas, Governor Abbott, has claimed to
pass on the ban of local control, due to money. The government of Texas, has called it a quits for
fracking, plastic bags, and red light cameras, also known as photo enforcements. Though the Texas
government is a small government, the probability of receiving their own law making is a higher
chance to rule than local governments. There are many pros and cons towards this law, but forcing the
ban should not be allowed, due infrastructure of local governments.
Many people were affected by the decision government Abbott has made, which leads rivalry between
the people who are for and against the law making decision. The people who are for this law
settlement, are more likely to remove community local laws that control the environment for society.
For example, Maren Taylor from Texas Vot wrote that, The Texas Legislature has decided that the
people of cities shouldn t have the right to protect the communities they. The point that the
communities from each city, will indeed have to understand that state government officials will

Naval Athens and the Rise of Athenian Democracy Essay
There is no coincidence that the rise of Athenian Democracy goes chronologically hand in hand with
the rise of the Athenian Navy. Following the defeat of the Persians by the Greeks, Athens naval
successes allow it to surpass the previous naval power of Corinth; create the Delian league to fund and
support this navy; and eventually ruffle enough feathers with their fellow Hellenic neighbours that
they inspire the Peloponnesian war. Overall their naval reputation and intimidation comes from the
skill of the men who maneuver and command the ships, and the tool they use to wield their power, the
Athenian trireme. By looking at the design of the trireme, and the work and numbers put both into the
ship and the men that drive it, hopefully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TRIREMES AND SHIPBUILDING
Triremes were unfortunately had to make stops on shore nightly whenever possible, because they ship
needed to dry out and the crew would be given time to rest and eat without being confined to the
smaller space available in the trireme (Jordan 1975). This was not always the case though; there is a
recalling of a time when a trireme did have to sail through the night, when one ship had to catch up to
the trireme headed to Mytilene (Jordan 1975). This type of travel was possible with a trireme, but it
would sail slightly slower since men had to take turns rowing, eating barley cakes and wine
(Thucydides 1996)(3.49.4), and sleeping, since they had not enough room for everyone to take a break
at once. Another example is when they couldn t anchor at Pylos, men took their meals on shore in their
turn (4.26.3)(Thucydides 1996). This would not have done any harsh damage to the ship in small
amounts, but if it were to travel this way consistently there would be definite problems with ship
maintenance.
To actually build a trireme, it consisted of a number of different types of resources and uniquely
skilled laborers. The ship was built shell first , meaning the side planks were constructed before laying

Queen Elizabeth I and the Elizabethan Theater. Although life was not easy during the Elizabethan era
it was one of the most progressive times in history and marked the beginning of the Elizabethan
theatre which still to this day influences theatre and the way theatre is presented .
The Elizabethan Era began in 1588 and ended in 1603 during Queen Elizabeth I reign England s

Majority of the Elizabethan population were very poor roughly 3 percent of the population consisted
of wealthy nobles. Nobles were the elite men and women of society much like the upper class in today
s society. Elizabethan Women were obedient to men and dependent on their male relatives to support
them and since there were no school for women they were tutored at home and weren t allowed to

doctors and lawyers .Along with all this woman had to preserve there virginity until marriage or they
would be looked down upon or belittled however if they were raped they were punished instead of the

The Elizabethan Era is known for the intricate outfits that men and women wore to court and elite
social functions. The wealthy wore furs and jewels, and the cloth of their garments featured
extravagant embroidery. The poor and even the middle classes dressed less extravagant and instead
more simply. Elizabethan theatres such as the globe theatre were popular amongst the rich and the

Through the means of literary devices, Marge Piercy, in her poem To Be of Use, expresses how one
should always persevere through life and do hard work. One shouldn t ever simply grumble about
their problem, but instead, treat each task with their best work. The author respects those who strain in
the mud and muck to move things forward . This particular quote is a purposeful example of
alliteration. Mud , and muck , as well as move , all sound similar, much like a tongue twister. Hence,
this forces the reader to slow down and focus on that, as if barrelling through the phrase like the hard
work described. The metaphor, I love people who harness themselves, an ox to a heavy cart uses the

Economic Variables For Fedex
Expanding globally is a major decision that requires a lot of a company. Before deciding to expand
into a global market, the management team should first ensure that the company is ready for the move.
It is very important that the company has the financial managers to identify and review the economic
variables that are associated with the targeted company. Economic variables are used by many
analyses to help identify the health and strength of a selected country s economy. In this assignment, I
will discuss the important economic variables that financial managers of FedEx Corporation need to
identify before expanding in Canada. The economic variables that I will be discussing are inflation
rate, interest rate, consumer price index (CPI), unemployment rate, and exchange rate. The first
economic indicator that I will be discuss is the inflation rate. The rate that price of products and
services steadily increases is the inflation rate. The reason that the financial managers of FedEx should
be aware of the inflation rate of Canada is the fact that higher inflation rates has an impact on the
buying power of the consumers. As the prices of products are increased due to inflation, consumers
may become more reluctant to spend their money. Also, the company may become victim of the
inflation rate directly. FedEx may see an increase in expenses if they company decides to purchase
products locally and in utility bills. The second economic variable that I will be discuss is the

The Causes Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War began in 1955 and ended in 1975, making it the second longest and, arguably, the
most controversial war the United States has engaged in to date. The war was a result of ongoing
tension between France and Vietnam. Their history dates back to the late 1800s, when the French
invaded the country and established French Indochina. Once the Vietnamese, more specifically the
Viet Minh, drove out the French in the First Indochina War, the nation was split into North and South
Vietnam. In hopes of preventing the spread of communism from the North, America joined the
conflict as an ally to the South. In the end, there would be 60,000 American and 2 million Vietnamese
casualties. By 1975, a diplomatic solution was agreed upon, US troops were sent back home, and
Vietnam became united as one nation again (McNeil and Mintz). 2. Rather than being referred to as a
war, Vietnam is often called a conflict due to the specific set of terms surrounding the situation. A war,
in most cases, is described as a case in which at least two nations or states are involved in an open and
armed hostility exemplified by active military operations, severe aggression and usually high mortality
(Rohn, Was Vietnam a War or Conflict? ). Under these conditions, Vietnam should be labelled as a
war; despite that, there was no declaration of war officially made by the US Congress, which
technically classifies it as a conflict. 3. The American public s general feeling about the Vietnam

During the Advanced Individualized Training, as a Sapper, I will learn a wide variety of engineering skills that may include: bridge building, structural maintenance, and electrical repair. There are different tasks generally for Combat Engineers that go with the skills taught including: building and constructing bridges, minefield clearance and detonation, and any other task requiring the specialized skills, (www.wood.army.mil/sapper). Sappers sometimes work with other branches to clear a route of obstacles and rivers for a convoy to pass or ground troops to pass. Detecting the mines will be done visually as well as with detectors. Sometimes they have to fix floating bridges, so learning to swim can be important. Also, they construct fighting, obstacle, and defensive positions during special missions. • 9. Analysis Of Forgiving My GuiltAndForgive My Guilt Responsibility is an important quality that mature people possess. People make mistakes, but the maturity level of a person is determined by whether or not the person takes responsibility for their errors. The short story The Man Who Was Almost a Man by Richard Wright and the lyric poem Forgive My Guilt by Robert Coffin both fixate on young boys who wrongly take the lives of creatures with a weapon. The short story and the lyric poem share a common theme regarding the significance of early life experiences to the maturation process as seen in the way the main characters react to their mistakes. Dave in The Man Who was Almost a Man runs away from his problems while the narrator in Forgive My Guilt holds himself accountable for his action and feels guilty. In the short story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man, Richard Wright uses colloquial language to develop the theme. For instance, in the scene where Dave is accused of killing the mule, the difference in speech used by Dave, a black sharecropper, and Jim Hawkins, his white employer, is evident. Jim Hawkins uses a more formal language when talking to Dave: Well, looks like you have you a mule, Dave (5). In stark contrast, Dave responds using a more informal way of speaking: Ah swear fo Gawd, Ah didn t go t kill the mule, Mistah Hawkins (5). The speech in the story shows the varying degrees of education of the characters in the story and depicts the segregation in the South between whites and blacks. Dave is also a ... Decentralized Wastewater Systems Regulatory and Economic Challenges During the last twenty years the USEPA has been evaluating decentralized wastewater treatment technologies as a reliable alternative for wastewater treatment. In 1997, the EPA submitted to congress its Report and subsequent documents endorsing decentralized wastewater treatment as a permanent long term solution for wastewater treatment. The Report stated that adequately managed decentralized wastewater systems are a cost effective long term option for meeting public health and water quality goals, particularly in less densely populated areas. Also decentralized systems are suitable for a variety of site conditions, including shallow water tables or bedrock, low permeability soils, and small lot sizes. One of the additional benefits is that decentralized systems are also suitable for ecologically sensitive areas (where advanced treatment, such as nutrient removal or disinfection is necessary). Since centralized systems require collection of wastewater for an entire community at substantial cost, decentralized systems, when properly installed, operated and maintained, can achieve significant cost savings while recharging local aquifers and providing other water reuse opportunities close to points of wastewater generation (USEPA 1997). This benefit not only help alleviates the cost burden but also helps to improve the watershed conditions. The EPA Report also evaluated the obstacles that decentralized system may confront and ways to overcome the barriers were presented. The following are the most common barriers for the implementation of decentralized systems: Lack of Knowledge and Public Misperception. The perception of some homeowners, realtors, and developers that centralized systems are better for property values and are more acceptable than decentralized systems, even if they are far more costly, makes it difficult to demonstrate that properly designed and managed decentralized systems ... Their life cycle begins as being eggs within the environment of water, soon to be evolved to larvas. These larvas are basically developing into the stage of being a full adult. Typically when most people think of regeneration, the thought of rebuilding comes into mind. In the same respect, a salamander possesses this ability and uses it to their advantage. Regeneration is the process of rebuilding certain cells, tissues or limbs. It s an intricate progression that allows different animals to survive against their predators. Regeneration allows the salamander to escape their predators by losing an appendage, with the hope of preventing capture and subsequent consumption. Our bodies do it on their own by moving air into the lungs when a muscle called the diaphragm, along with other nearby muscles, contract and causes the chest cavity to expand. Then air is exhaled when these muscles relax, and the lung tissue returns or recoils to its original size (Jardins 2013) . When the patient needs help with breathing due to a disease, surgery or the use of medications which stop the muscle from working on their own, a ventilator is a life saving replacement. The volume of oxygen in the cylinder is depressed down and the pressure increases moving the oxygen through the tubes into the patient. The plethysmography technique applies to Boyle s law and uses measurements of volume and pressure changes to determine lung volume, assuming the temperature is constant. The plethysmography technique measures the volume of all compressible gas in the thorax, including gas trapped behind airway obstructions or in the pleural space (Kacmarek 2013). Quine avoids confronting the argument about the existence of universals by disregarding McX s argument. 2. In order to explain and evaluate the view that a concrete particular is a combination of its features and a substratum. We must first define what these terms mean. A concrete particular is a spatiotemporal individual entity that has causal powers. To put this another way, concrete particulars exist within space and time with one location. A specific concrete particular cannot exist in more than one location at a time. For example, a concrete particular could be a book. The view that these particulars are combinations of is features and substratum is a way to quantify how they exist. Features are the characteristics a substance has. Following the defeat of the Persians by the Greeks, Athens naval successes allow it to surpass the previous naval power of Corinth; create the Delian league to fund and support this navy; and eventually ruffle enough feathers with their fellow Hellenic neighbours that they inspire the Peloponnesian war. Overall their naval reputation and intimidation comes from the skill of the men who maneuver and command the ships, and the tool they use to wield their power, the Athenian trireme. By looking at the design of the trireme, and the work and numbers put both into the ship and the men that drive it, hopefully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... TRIREMES AND SHIPBUILDING Triremes were unfortunately had to make stops on shore nightly whenever possible, because they ship needed to dry out and the crew would be given time to rest and eat without being confined to the smaller space available in the trireme (Jordan 1975). This was not always the case though; there is a recalling of a time when a trireme did have to sail through the night, when one ship had to catch up to the trireme headed to Mytilene (Jordan 1975). This type of travel was possible with a trireme, but it would sail slightly slower since men had to take turns rowing, eating barley cakes and wine (Thucydides 1996)(3.49.4), and sleeping, since they had not enough room for everyone to take a break at once. Another example is when they couldn t anchor at Pylos, men took their meals on shore in their turn (4.26.3)(Thucydides 1996). This would not have done any harsh damage to the ship in small amounts, but if it were to travel this way consistently there would be definite problems with ship maintenance. To actually build a trireme, it consisted of a number of different types of resources and uniquely skilled laborers. The ship was built shell first , meaning the side planks were constructed before laying in the backbone , keel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One shouldn t ever simply grumble about their problem, but instead, treat each task with their best work. The author respects those who strain in the mud and muck to move things forward . This particular quote is a purposeful example of alliteration. Mud , and muck , as well as move , all sound similar, much like a tongue twister. Hence, this forces the reader to slow down and focus on that, as if barrelling through the phrase like the hard work described. It is very important that the company has the financial managers to identify and review the economic variables that are associated with the targeted company. Economic variables are used by many analyses to help identify the health and strength of a selected country s economy. In this assignment, I will discuss the important economic variables that financial managers of FedEx Corporation need to identify before expanding in Canada. The economic variables that I will be discussing are inflation rate, interest rate, consumer price index (CPI), unemployment rate, and exchange rate. The first economic indicator that I will be discuss is the inflation rate. The rate that price of products and services steadily increases is the inflation rate. The reason that the financial managers of FedEx should be aware of the inflation rate of Canada is the fact that higher inflation rates has an impact on the buying power of the consumers. As the prices of products are increased due to inflation, consumers may become more reluctant to spend their money. Also, the company may become victim of the inflation rate directly. FedEx may see an increase in expenses if they company decides to purchase products locally and in utility bills. The second economic variable that I will be discuss is the ... • 35. The Causes Of The Vietnam War The Vietnam War began in 1955 and ended in 1975, making it the second longest and, arguably, the most controversial war the United States has engaged in to date. The war was a result of ongoing tension between France and Vietnam. Their history dates back to the late 1800s, when the French invaded the country and established French Indochina. Once the Vietnamese, more specifically the Viet Minh, drove out the French in the First Indochina War, the nation was split into North and South Vietnam. In hopes of preventing the spread of communism from the North, America joined the conflict as an ally to the South. In the end, there would be 60,000 American and 2 million Vietnamese casualties. By 1975, a diplomatic solution was agreed upon, US troops were sent back home, and Vietnam became united as one nation again (McNeil and Mintz). 2. Rather than being referred to as a war, Vietnam is often called a conflict due to the specific set of terms surrounding the situation. A war, in most cases, is described as a case in which at least two nations or states are involved in an open and armed hostility exemplified by active military operations, severe aggression and usually high mortality (Rohn, Was Vietnam a War or Conflict? ). Under these conditions, Vietnam should be labelled as a war; despite that, there was no declaration of war officially made by the US Congress, which technically classifies it as a conflict. 3. The American public s general feeling about the Vietnam ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
