subject matter is not only historically sensitive but also emotionally charged, requiring a delicate
and respectful approach. One must delve into the grim realities of human suffering and the
atrocities committed during periods of conflict, which can be mentally and emotionally taxing.
The researcher must navigate through a plethora of historical documents, survivor testimonies,
and scholarly analyses to gain a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Crafting an essay on concentration camps demands a thorough examination of the historical
context, including the political, social, and economic factors that contributed to their
establishment. Analyzing the experiences of those who were incarcerated, as well as the broader
implications on society, requires a nuanced perspective. Addressing the ethical considerations
surrounding the topic adds another layer of complexity, as it necessitates a delicate balance
between objectivity and empathy.
Moreover, the essay must be meticulously researched to ensure accuracy and avoid
misrepresentation of facts. This involves consulting reputable sources, cross-referencing
information, and critically evaluating conflicting accounts. Sensitivity towards the victims and
their families is paramount, as the writing process involves grappling with the profound human
suffering that occurred within these camps.
In conclusion, writing an essay on concentration camps requires a high level of research,
empathy, and ethical consideration. It demands a careful navigation through a dark and
challenging historical landscape, necessitating a commitment to accuracy and a profound respect
for the victims. It is a task that goes beyond mere academic exercise, requiring an
acknowledgment of the human stories behind the historical events.

Cats Are Cute Essay
Cats are cute, whether you like them or not they just are but they are especially
cute when they display strangely humanistic behavior like fall in love. Here s a
scenario: one day a boy wakes up to find that a cute girl has just moved in next
door. He is immediately intrigued by her and wants to know more about her. He
starts watching her, following her around hoping that she ll notice him. Weeks go
by and she still goes about her business oblivious to the boy next door who
respectfully stalks her from a distances. A little time goes by and a silent dance
between the two ensues. She ignores him, he keeps staring working his way to get
closer. By now, the boy would be certifiable as a potential stalker but these are no
ordinary boy and girl and this is no ordinary boy next door meets new hot neighbor
and falls hopelessly in lovewith story. It s a story about two catsSophie and Scottie
and the special relationship they had.
Let s backtrack a bit for a proper introduction. Sophie is a cuddly black and white
tabby cat adopted by Christiana Viscusi in 2014. She moved into a Boston
neighborhood next door to a yellow and white equally cute and cuddly tom cat,
Scottie. When they first met, Scottie who was intrigued by the new neighbor, would

Viscusi took to documenting the little encounters the two love birds shared. Soon,
these two would have a social media following with an Instagram account
@sophielovestuna that drew thousands of followers and hundreds of likes daily. A
lot of people were enamoured by the two kitties and thought their story was more
than cute in a teenage coming age romance kind of way without the angst. A lot of
people watched and hoped that the romance would grow and culminate into
something more but as fate would have it, Sophie passed away in June 2017 but
their love will live on in the hearts of those who witnessed and were touched by
Skinny Jeans In The 1950 s
Do you own any pairs of skinny jeans? Do you want to own skinny jeans? Can you
fit into skinny jeans? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may
have a serious disorder from love of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are a form fitting,
thigh hugging, narrow legged type of jeans. Now let s go back time, all the way back
to the 1950 s. The term skinny jeans was invented first in the 1800 s by Levi
Strauss. Skinny jeans were another term for a kind of jeans, like Levi s slim fit
jeans. Over 100 years later, the brand Levi the name taken from the real jean
inventor reinvented the skinny jeans in the 1950 s. After the reinvented jeans by
Levi, skinny jeans were really introduced to the world in old movies, usually old
Western movies. Actors like Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Marilyn Monroe, and
Zorro wore them in their movies during the 50 s. Performers were also a part of the
skinny jeans history. People like Elvis Presley wore them during his concerts in the
1950 s.
Quick! Now let s get going to the 1960 s.
During the 60 s, Elvis was still going strong with the skinny jean trend. During this
decade, things in the jean industry were changing. Women started wearing them to
show off their curves, pushing gender roles.
Now we re fast forwarding to the 1970 s.

sixty eight percent of women would not like her date to show up wearing skinny

side effects while wearing skinny jeans. On the same survey, the guys said that forty
percent choose style over comfort, and twenty five percent wore them only to show
they can still fit into them. Only adding to the problem, thirty three percent of the
men who wear skinny jeans own the wrong size! As they most likely know now, it

Key Elements Of Rhetorical Analysis
Key Elements of Rhetoric
Rhetoric is always situational and always has context context is the occasion or time
and place it was written or spoken.
Rhetoric also includes a purpose, a goal that the speaker or writer wants to achieve
Lou Gehrig s purpose was to keep positive and always look on the bright sides of
situation
Gehrig maintains focus, giving the word rhetoric a definition of sincerity
Identifying purpose and context in more complex situations can be very difficult
We first ask about the context then consider the purpose
Context can also arise from cultural bias
As a speaker he presents himself modestly and contented with his life

Speakers can appeal to ethos by stressing the concern of parents or adolescent
behavior
Ethos emphasizes shared values between the speaker and the audience
A speaker s reputation could also establish ethos
Establishes ethos by making a good impression, reflecting off the tone of their voice
The speaker s ethos, knowledge, and experience gives the audience a reason for
listening
Logos
Writers and speakers appeal to logos for logic and reason. Logos is very rational with
a clear, main idea
The main idea must be logical
Counterargument is another way to appeal to logos, anticipating and opposing views
In an argument you first agree, then refute, strengthening your argument
Pathos
Pathos can be very powerful, targeting emotion
Writing that consists of mainly pathos is hardly effective logically, but adds an
important dimension
Strong, positive connotations are more effective to pathos for an audience
Pathos is propagandistic and polemical, evoking the emotions of the audience
Emotional appeals include vivid, concrete details, and a lot of
Amalie Emmy Noether Research Papers
There are many mathematicians that have changed the way we think; from simple
word problems to the way gravity and motion works. Without them where would we
be? Somewhere still stuck in the dark. Where would we be without female
mathematicians standing up for girl power? Somewhere lost; somewhere confused;
and somewhere brainwashed that men can do better jobs than US females.
Amalie Emmy Noether is a great example of a female mathematician that was known
for amazing things. For example, she is German mathematician known for her
landmark contributions to abstract algebra and theoretical physics. Her education
took place in University of Erlangen Noremberg (1904 1907). Also, the University of

Determination of age and sex in a set of skeletal remains can be a difficult task
based on many factors. The variation seen in one particular population of people can
manifest in the skeletons of these people as there is more variation between people
within a population than there is people of another population (Burns 2007). When
considering this set of variables many methods need to be employed to understand
the diversity of variation within a specific population as some factors can provide
different results that drastically vary the age and sex determination (Ubelaker 1989).
Many skeletal collections that databases have been created on do not incorporate all
populations and therefore all variations cannot be properly accounted ... Show more

The aging of the auricular surface was the first method to be used to determine an
age range for UC71 (Buikstra and Ubelaker 1994). No billows or striae were
present and changes to the apex are slight (Buikstra and Ubelaker 1994). Iscan and
Loth created a comprehensive guide on the sternal ends of ribs so to help correlate
age to features often found in the sternal ribs ends. This comparison allowed for a
further narrowing down of age of the specimen. The dental attrition is not always a
good feature in which to base age at time of death as diet for example may erode
teeth faster, genetic predisposition to weak teeth as observed in some populations
with nutritional deficiencies and lifestyle choices all play a part in how quickly the
teeth wear. However, to get an idea of how dental attrition can be used to help
narrow down and age range, especially in something like an isolated archaeological
context, the application provided by Lovejoy as reprinted in the Human Osteology
Textbook (White, Black, and Folkens 2012) was helpful in understanding normal
wear patterns and how they correlate with chronological age. The specimen of UC71
had rather complete dentition which made determination much
The Trading Networks Of The 17th And The 18th Centuries
The trading networks of the 17th and the 18th centuries, probably the reason America
is here and why we re Americans. That is because this trade was a new type of trade,
international trade or involving the whole world in one network, mass production,
diversity, and mixing of cultures. As a result of such trading networks the western
hemisphere was now being populated more heavily and the first colonies where
starting to form. Documents2, and 4 describes how Chinese greed for silver changed

This changed patterns of trade deficit where before it was on the Portuguese it was
now on China who were pouring out everything in exchange for only silver which
they didn t even reinvest in their economy. This source isn t that reliable mainly
because it was written by a British merchant who tried convincing Britain into
joining trade. Therefore it was a secondary document from the outside looking in
so all data may not be correct. Thus the global distribution of silver greatened the
connection between the west and the east eliminating old patterns of trade deficit.
In the documents 3, 1, 5, and 6 they discuss how when silver came into the picture
many payment and old money accounting methods changed. Document 3 talks
about how in China the economy began to fall due to cheaper grain harvest. The
reason that the harvest was cheaper is because the taxes where now forced to be
paid in silver which China dispersed very little silver into the economy. It is a
reliable document because elders of villages directly told Wang Xijue a court
official of China about the first hand suffering of its people. Document 1 states how
the introduction of silver to China created much greed and whoever has a lot can
never have enough but whoever has little has enough. That is because of the
suffering brought on by silver whoever had a little needed to worry

largest companies that came about because of this change is Amazon. Amazon is one
of the largest online e commerce stores that sells almost everything. This case study
will examine Amazon, international trade, and Canada.
To regulate international trade, governments put into place different forms of
regulation. Some of this regulation protects domestic companies while others
promote trade. Currently, the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada have a

It is estimated that the Canadians will purchase around $50 billion annually by the
year 2019.
Canada s currency is called the Canadian Dollar, or CAD for short. According to
Bloomberg.com, the current ratio between USD and the CAD is $1.2621 to $1
USD. The Canadian Dollar has displayed a trend over the past year of its value
dropping. This drop in value on the global exchange will affect prices in Canada.
As the CAD value drops, its exports will be cheaper for other nations while imports,
like products from Amazon, will be more expensive for the Canadian people. The
dropping value of CAD will continue to change prices and might cause products
imported into Canada by Amazon to be priced out of the market.

It makes sense to give people a glimpse into the animal world once in awhile,
maybe even in hope to slow down the risk of endangerment. What doesn t make
sense and is not in any way reasonable are the use of circus animals. The reason
circus animals came to be is that zookeepers realized what a drive people have to see
exotic animals. They realized how much money people would pay just to see an
exotic animal in a cage, then imagined what they could earn by making them perform.
What people need to realize when they buy their tickets to the show is that these
animals are not in any way meant to perform. And even though these animals are
often protected by state and local anticruelty laws, they aren t often enough. The

Similarities And Differences Between Hamlet And Much

In William Shakespeare s works, emotions surrounding relationships are presented at
different intensities depending on the genre of the play. Hamlet is a passionate and
dark play, where the main character plots a scheme to avenge his father s murder. As
a result, emotions between Ophelia and Hamlet are heightened and the consequences
that arise are severe. Contrastingly, in the comedy Much Ado About Nothing,
Shakespeare intends for a light hearted storyline approach. Conflicts in relationships,
such as Hero and Claudio s, are both less dramatic and a better representative of
issues that arose in the 14th Century. By comparing Hamletand Much Ado About

the lifeboat and of course they re going to take the rich first and so leave about 50
poor people to die and I think the everyone should be able to fair and equal
opportunity to get on the boat and a fair chance at life because everyone deserves

number one cause of preventable disease and death in the United States, causing more

winning youth tobacco prevention campaign launched by the Food and Drug

influencing further poets. William Dunbar, born in Scotland around 1460

based many of his poems around religion and courtly love (two common themes of
medieval poetry) and wrote many popular poems such as The Dance Of The Seven

Secular marriages were not blessed by the church and were more popular amongst
the poorer people as there was no expensive ceremony with rings. This type of
marriage made it easier for divorce and to remarry. In the poem, Dunbar uses a male
narrator who is a voyeur eavesdropping into a conversation amongst three, intoxicated
woman who are in a garden on Midsummer night s eve; two of them married and
one a widow. In this conversation they discuss their husbands in an unpleasant way
and discuss their sexual desires which at this time was unheard of to males as they
classified woman as belongings and inferior. This poem is an attempt by Dunbar to
get inside the head of a woman which was a common thought amongst men as some
were worried woman were untrustworthy. The setting of this poem plays an
important, although discreet role as Midsummer Eve is associated with fertility rites
back in pre Christian times and the garden they are in would have been filled with
sweet scents from the flowers blooming at that time of year, so the setting is almost a
metaphor for the woman and their duty to provide children and fertility.
The poem begins with the voyeur telling his audience about the three women and
how he is hiding and listening in to their personal conversation. To a modern
audience this seems odd and disturbing but back in the time this was set, it was
viewed as a normal way to get information, which is exactly what
Geostatistical Interpolation For Spatial Data
Geostatistical Interpolation for Spatial Data
Abstract: Continuous surfaces of rainfall climate variable are becoming increasingly
used as input to spatially explicit atmospheric ,hydrologic ,ecologic and
environmental models. Several methodologies exist for spatial interpolation of
climate and weather parameters, among them is the ordinary kriging method .A large
sampling effort is required to produce an accurate geostatistical map, and the
extraction and analysis of each sample is often expensive, The effectiveness of a
particular sampling scheme is dependent upon the spatial variability of the quantity
being measured .In this paper ,we used the ordinary kriging method to estimate the
rainfall distribution in Iraq. A total of 24 real points are used for evaluation. The
results presents samples of maps for months January, October, March for years 2004,

Introduction: Rainfall is an important climatological parameter, and knowledge of its
temporal and spatial patterns is useful for researchers working in many disciplines, In
this study , spatial interpolation techniques were implemented in a Geographic
Information System (GIS) to study the spatial variability of monthly rainfall in Iraq.
Ten years (2003 2013) of climate data ( average monthly rainfall )from 24 weather
stations distributed throughout Iraq were used in the analyses. Literature suggests

Negative Effects Of Birth Order
The Effects Of Birth Order
What would people think if a complete stranger could tell personality traits of
someone only knowing the order of their birth? Birth order refers to the order a
child is born in their family: birth order is often believed to have a profound and
lasting effect on psychological development (Wikipedia). Birth order has great effects
on children, and it is seen especially in firstborn, middle born, and last born
children. It is an interesting concept that will be explored in more depth in this
paper. First, consider some of the characteristics seen in firstborn children. Some of
the traits seen in first born children include: perfectionist, reliable, list maker, well
organized, critical, serious, scholarly, seek approval, conservative, and law abiding
(Lehnardt). They are also typically bad at delegating. Researchers suggest that
firstborn are more highly motivated than other or later born children (Lehnardt).
Firstborns are also more likely to seek help and are self critical. Firstborns are more
likely to make at least $100,000 more annually than their siblings (Lehnardt).
Researchers say firstborn are generally higher motivated than others. In addition,
firstborns tend to score higher on IQ tests and typically get more education than their
brothers and sisters (Lehnardt). However, in life, there are exceptions to these
characteristics and features seen in children born first. For example, younger siblings
tend to take on a firstborn role if an

James Cook James cook was one of seven children. He was born on October 27,

When he turned 18 years of age, James Cook was offered an apprenticeship by a ship

Prepositions Essay
Prepositions are words that establish relationships between words in a sentence or
phrase. Except for the prepositions a and de that are contracted when used with the
article el , prepositions are invariable. Spanish sentences never end in a preposition.
It is placed before an object which can be a noun, a verb used as a noun, or a pronoun.
Spanish prepositions are used in the same way that English prepositions are used but
it can be tricky to translate prepositions literally as each preposition can mean
differently on either language depending on the context of the sentence.
Here is a list of the most common Spanish prepositions:
a to, at, for, by The preposition a is used to express time and motion, connect a verb
and an infinitive, indicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, Spanish conjunctions work in similar manner as English conjunctions.
There are two categories of conjunctions: the coordinating and subordinating
conjunctions.
Coordinating Conjuctions
A coordinating conjuction joins two words that belong to the same grammatical
class. Here are the most common coordinating conjunctions: pero but y and o or pues
then entonces thus, so ni.... nineither... nor
The conjunction y , which means and changes to e when it precedes an i sound to
avoid having to say two successive i sounds.
Example:
Muchos aГєn estГЎn recibiendo tratamiento ГЎspero e inhumano.
Many are still receiving harsh and inhumane treatment.
If the conjuction o is followed by a word that begins with an o sound, it is changed
to u to avoid saying two successive o sounds.
Effects Of Fossil Fuels
Everyday in U.S., immense amount of fossil fuel is burned. Fossil fuels are fuel
formed by natural processes, such as decomposition of buried dead organisms. Fossil
fuel release carbon dioxide when they are burned which adds to the greenhouse effect
and increases global warming. The way we can help the environment and reduce the
amount of carbon dioxideis by replaying fossil fuels with solar and wind sources for
electric power generations in the U.S. We burn fossil fueleveryday by driving cars.
EIA estimates that U.S. motor gasoline and diesel fuel consumption for
transportation in 2016 resulted in the emission of about 1,102 million metric tons
of carbon dioxide and 437 million metric tons of CO2, respectively, for a total of
1,540 million metric tons of CO2. Tesla is one of the only company s that was able
to make a full electric car. Even thought the prices for the cars is very expensive,
the car only runs on a mere battery. If we are able to mass produce more batteries
thats much more affordable, we can replace large amount of cars today with
electric powered cars and reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is burned. Many
people buy solar panels for their houses so they can use that energy. Solar panels
help get energy for your house and use that energy for the lights or even to produce
heat for your house. You can add immense amounts of insulation when building a
new house even if cost a little bit more, it will lower the cost for heating and air
conditioning

What Is The Long Truman Doctrine
Harry S. Truman once declared, It must be the policy of the United States to support
free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by
outside pressures. (Truman Doctrine, ourdocuments.gov) This quote was given by
President Truman in a speech directed to Congress in hopes that they would aid his
mission and goal. This doctrine, or principle, that was expressed by President Harry
S. Truman in 1947, was called the Truman Doctrine. President Truman s stance was
that the United States must involve itself in foreign affairs in an effort to prevent
communism from spreading. He feared that the expansion of communism would
threaten the freedom of all nations, including the United States. This policy would

In turn, the United States was unhappy with the Soviet Union cutting off aid. (Start of
the Cold WarPart I, khanacademy.org) The Cold War did not escalate to military
force between the two nations. However, tensions continued to rise. It was then that
George Kennan, the U.S. ambassador in Moscow sent what is known as the Long
Telegram. In this telegram Kennan warned America that the Soviets desired to
expand their territory and communism. His concern was that the likelihood of peace
between capitalist and communism could not exist. This telegram along with the
warning from Britain that they could no longer afford to keep resisting communist
forces in Europe, became the influence for Truman in proposing his doctrine. The
main goal of the Truman Doctrine was to provide economical and military assistance
to countries such as Turkey and Greece, because these two countries were threatened
by communism. It was also created to stop the spread of the Soviet government
system throughout the world, during the Cold War. In his speech, Truman had asked
Congress to give approximately four hundred million dollars in funding to provide
not only financial backing but military support as well. (Uschan, 101) Many
Americans opposed the Truman Doctrine because they did not think the United States
could afford to get into a global fight against communism and they did not understand
how it affected
Leonard Mandel Research Paper
Leonard Mandel, an extraordinary magnate optical scientist of his time, was a
powerful voice on behalf of physics. He was the Lee DuBridge Professor of Physics
and Optics at the University of Rochester: a masterful scientist, exemplary teacher,
generous colleague, and beloved family man. He is perhaps one of the most amazing
founding fathers of what we call; quantum optics, evolving into the revolution of so
called most exciting areas in science. He trained society s understanding of quantum
mechanicsand lasting ways through ingenious experiments that provided convincing
demonstrations and precise tests of many of the most counterintuitive aspects of the
quantum nature of light. Rarely has any one individual so intimately investigated and
so dramatically advanced our understanding of the quantum mechanical nature of
light. Mandel s original interest did not involve light mechanics whatsoever, but in
the late 1940 s he decided to switch, in which extraordinary findings came about. He
wanted to know how light was measured, how light worked, how light bypassed all
of our minds through the years. He wanted to know the light field of study by the
measurements through a camera, and the spectacle mirrors. The optical side of
science, which interested him like no other science.... Show more content on

Sandra Cisneros
Sandra Cisneros, an author who is deeply inspired by her Mexican American
heritage. This inspiration is clearly shown throughout every one of her writing
pieces such as Salvador Late or Early and Eleven . Both short stories focus on
adolescents with a mature mindset and adult precision, and each story does a
marvelous job portraying Cisneros constant writing style. Salvador Late or Early is
focusing on a young boy, Salvador, with heavy burdens to carry on his shoulders,
which is unfortunate because he is such a young boy with an old soul. The
responsibilities he has are unimaginable due to the fact they don t pertain to his age.

Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story.
For example, Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a
metaphor suggesting metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck
inside its cocoon, he will soon become a beautiful, graceful butterfly. This
metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning because the message
this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and
if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in
the end, they will always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all
along. Another example of figurative language in Salvador Late or Early is a
metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of crayons, has let go
the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that
tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... This symbolizes a rainbow
after a storm, and the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that although
Salvador is caught in the middle of a brutal storm, the sun will soon come out and he
will find a rainbow. One example of figurative language in Eleven is when Rachel
uses similes such as Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or like
the rings inside a tree trunk or like my little

New employees are tossed into a maelstrom of project implementation and expected
to perform without any substantial introduction to NASA s processes, history,
culture, and lessons learned. Rather than advocating a return to days of large
projects, knowledge management principles offers a solution for moving ahead,
acknowledging today s constraints and adapting to a world where technology and
innovative processes must partially replace the mentoring and measured approaches
of the past. NASA s knowledge, its intellectual capital, is the Agency s primary,
sustainable source of competitive advantage. Physical assets age, today s workforce
is mobile, and technology is quickly bypassed. Our knowledge as an Agency,
however, can endure. This knowledge is a fluid mix of experience and know how
that allows NASA employees to strive for and achieve the improbable day after day.
Those companies whose cultures promote knowledge sharing and individual learning
have high employee retention, attract high quality employees, and have a workforce
that focuses on fixing the problem rather than fixing the blame. Knowledge
management is the spark that will ignite our ability to get the most from the
investments we have made in our workforce and information technology, and to
harness the considerable intellectual capital within the Agency and its partners.
The History of Building Codes and Construction
The History of Building Codes, Construction, and the Aftermath of September 11
Jhimelle I. Sepulveda Columbia Southern University Abstract There have been
many catastrophic incidents involving fire throughout history with countless of
lives lost and billions of dollars worth of damages. The lessons learned from these
incidents have led to changes in the way we plan and how we build high rise
structures. These changes evolve into codes and building standards with people s
safety in mind. Early building construction laws were enacted to prevent building
collapses as early as the Roman Empire. Laws were passed that limited the height of
buildings, first to 70ft and then to 60ft. Later in history, laws were passed to prevent...

No experienced structural engineer watching the attack expected the WTC towers to
collapse. No skyscraper has ever before collapsed due to п¬Ѓre. (BaЕѕant, 2007, p.
308) One of the most important events of New York City in the 1960 s was the
construction of the World trade center. The design and construction of the towers
took years and the effort of thousands of people. A project of that size created
challenges that demanded the use of dramatic new engineering concepts. Final
plans called for a complex of low level buildings surrounding two 1350 foot towers.
Their great height was made possible by the use of load bearing walls. (PBS, 2000
2001) Extremely tall buildings were inefficient since structural support and
elevators took up huge amounts of interior space. The exterior walls were design to
hold much of the weight of the towers and as well as all of the wind loads. The
only internal support for the buildings was a central support of towers. Elevators
were placed in the shafts that were formed by the columns. These engineering
considerations determined the towers basic design. (PBS, 2000 2001) The
catastrophic events of September 11, 2001, lead to the adaptation of new building
codes by the International Code Council (ICC). Studies were conducted by numerous
agencies and recommendations were made. (Mcallister, 2002) New codes call for
numerous changes in building designs, construction, how the buildings would need

Treatments for partner abusive Latino men were grounded in theories of self
psychology, cognitive behavioral, and socio cultural factors that influence how these
men experience the world (Welland and Ribner, 2010). Both Welland and Ribner
(2010) and Parra Cardona et al. (2013) used culturally adapted domestic violence
treatments that attempted to explore the various ingrained values and notions central
to Latino immigrant men s identity. One of the major differences between the
approaches taken between these two studies was the way they challenged pre existing
values and beliefs on violence. Welland and Ribner (2010) used cultural
characteristics such as familismo (familism), respeto (Respect) and personlismo
(approachability) as guidelines to their intervention of challenging transitional gender
roles. They provided clients with effective cognitive behavioral tools to substitute for
their former ways of thinking and behaving, while utilizing an empathic self

changes reflected the experiences faced by Latino immigrant men. Raices Nuevas

weekly, 2 hour sessions aimed at promoting positive change among battering men. In
this study 21 Latino immigrant men participated in the program and in a in depth
interview to better understand the outcomes of the intervention. Men, in this study,
identified change as a slow process that demanded critical evaluation of personal
behaviors and considered challenging machismo as a requisite to terminate violent
behaviors (Parra Cardona et al., 2013). Raices Nuevas used more of a confronting and
challenging approach to gender roles which were initially met with resistance,

The Importance Of Extracurricular Activities In The Mad...
Joining an extracurricular activity is either a burden or an honor depending on the
student. Imagine being put into an extracurricular activity where you have to learn
many different dances because you will be competing with other schools for the
championship, keep in mind you are dancing with students that you efficiently have
never known. And the worst part, according to the students, girls dancing with boys
and vice versa. Anaheim schools can increase students success by providing free
extracurricular activities that grant them to experience new things that they have
never been through before because it changes their view on things they hadn t even
been given the chance to try or see. As well as providing every student with the
materials that are necessary so that even low income students can get the opportunity
to try them. In the film documentary Mad Hot Ballroom, directed by Marilyn Agrelo,
students are given the opportunity to dance and compete with other schools, while
teams are getting eliminated throughout the competition until they reach the
championship. It s not bad not to make it (Agrelo). This was said from one of the
men in the meeting before the competition. He had mentioned that most of the time
the children are brought down because they eliminated and they do make it. But they
have to look at the bright side, the thing that matters is that they tried and not making
it in the competition doesn t mean they are not good at dancing, but they can make

The Best Grandfather I could ever have
We all have someone in our lives who you can tell your honest thoughts, experiences
and life stories with. We also have those we can look to for some type of guidance,
especially in the world we live in today. My Grandfather, Joshua Jr. is very loyal,
generous, and above all in my opinion, the best role model I could ever have. Here
are just a few reasons and examples why he is who he is.
My grandfather is loyal in all ways and in all perspectives. One can be a complete

help you out. No matter how tough or difficult the situation is, he is always there to

My grandfather, paid for my first two payments of the rent without me knowing
ahead of time. Also every year, to this day, my grandfather separates and cultivates
at least two acres of his land to have a garden filled with vegetables. After he
collects all of what he wants from the garden, he would take all of the remaining of
the harvested crops, which could easily feed a small army, and give everything away
to all of his neighbors and his whole family. Who else would do something as kind
as that? This is just barely scratching the surface of what my grandfather does on a
daily basis.
Finally my grandfather is the best role model one could ever have. He is a robust
and a religious man. He is the ideal of the perfect person, grandfather, great
grandfather, and husband one could ever have. For example; recently my
grandmother passed away in the month of July of the year 2013. She had been
diagnosed with dementia for the past twelve years. Her and my grandfather was

hands together everywhere they went. Another example would be the time when
he saved my mom, my uncles, and a guy that was dying in a burning car. When my

grandfathers 1958 Buick Skylark. They all were driving down the highway when;

Ethics And Its Branches Of Ethics

Computer Ethics
Computer Ethics is a part of practical philosophy which concern with how computing
professionals should make decisions regarding professional and social conduct.
Margaret Anne Pierce, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computers
at Georgia Southern University has categorized the ethical decisions related to
computer technology and usage into 3 primary influences:
1.The individual s own personal code.
2.Any informal code of ethical conduct that exists in the work place.
3.Exposure to formal codes of ethics.
History: The concept of computer ethics originated in the 1940s with MIT professor
Norbert Wiener. While working on anti aircraft artillery during World War II.
In 1973, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) adopted its first code of
ethics.[1] SRI International s Donn Parker,[5] an author on computer crimes, led the
committee that developed the code.
In 1976, medical teacher and researcher, Walter Maner noticed that ethical decisions
are much harder to make when computers are added. He noticed a need for a
different branch of ethics for when it came to dealing with computers. The term

Priestess Religion
A priest or priestess is defined as a full time religious specialist formally recognized
for his or her role in guiding the religious practices of others and for contacting and
influencing supernatural powers. They are authorized to perform sacred rituals and
mediate between fellow humans and supernatural powers, divine spirits, or deities.
They also control holy sites of worship, supervise prescribed rituals, and maintain
possession of regalia, relics, statues, images, texts, and other representations of
holiness. In many cultures, such as Judaism, Islam and the Roman Catholic Church,
religious leadership positions are reserved for men only because their deities are
identified in masculine terms. Female religious specialists are found in societies
where women are believed to greatly contribute to the economy, as well as to the
gods and goddesses that the culture believes in. Some cultures even go as far to form
all female convents, such as nunneries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These societies do however have a shaman. A shaman was originally referred to as
a medical religious specialist, or a spiritual guide. Shamans were found among the
Tungus and other Siberian nomads with animist beliefs. Unlike priests and
priestesses, shamans perform ritualistic dances and chant and also utilize
hallucinogenic mushrooms to enter into dream like trances to contact spirit beings
such as guardian animal spirits. Priests/priestesses and shamans are similar in the
fact that they both need their cultures to believe in them in order to be recognized.
If a tribe does not believe in the healing powers of their shaman, than that shaman
will not be greatly referred to. Also, if a culture does not believe in their priest or
priestess, then they will likely no longer be formally recognized and may be asked to

Born To Run Chapter Summary
The book Born to Run is an informative yet also thrilling account of the author s
investigation into the primary cause of running injuries. The book begins with the
author investigating a rumour of an ancient tribe in Mexico known as the
Tarahumara who live in the Copper Canyons upon the same lifestyle and traditions
as they did hundreds, if not, thousands of years ago. It was said that the Tarahumara
were a group of superathletes that have the ability to run for periods of up to 400
miles, barefoot or in sandals, without rest while avoiding injury in the process.
Obviously, for one pursuing the avoidance of runningrelated injuries, this was an
intriguing thought for author Christopher McDougall; therefore the first chapter
consists of him following a lead in Mexico by tracking down a man known as

Tarahumara runners came by the aid station and surprised all the volunteers in how
happy they were. All the Tarahumara runners were smiling and looking as though
they were having the time of their lives. So, after this information was presented, the
author came back to their meeting with Arnulfo. This meeting, however, was very
brief as to the fact that the Salvador and the author had forgotten certain key pieces of
Tarahumara modesty and interaction making it so that, after feeding them and
providing some water, Arnulfo ran off. So then, following some interaction with
Salvador, the author is lead to find Caballo Blanco and back to where the story
began. The two then devise a plan to gather all the greatest ultrarunners of the 21st

narrow vertical limits of a rocky shore is one of the most striking features about
shore life. It is noticeable particularly where sessile organisms (such as barnacles)
occur in abundance on the boundaries of their vertical distribution, as they form a
conspicuous line (Boaden Seed, 1985). The author has also been particularly
impressed by clear zonation patterns of brown algae often to be found on rocky
shores. Precise and universal demarcation of these zones is impossible (Brehaut,
1982), but a comprehension of the vertical zonation of rocky shores is clearly ... Show

At mid shore, for example, exposure is 50 percent of the time to air, and 50 percent
to water. This area forms the eulittoral zone, and a greater number of species are
found here than in the littoral fringe. Communities found in this zone must be
tolerant of short periods of exposure to air between the tides, although they almost
always require regular submersion or at least a thorough wetting (Tait and Dipper,
1998). Species include barnacles, mussels, and other sessile forms such as oysters
(Boaden Seed, 1985). The barnacles commonly belong to such genera as Balanus,
Chthamalus, and Tetraclita. There is a strong tendency (Stephenson Stephenson,
1972) for this zone to be further divided into two or three subzones. In lower
subzones, barnacles may be obliterated or overshadowed by other sedentary forms;
but in the higher eulittoral subzones barnacles are greatest in concentration, and show
dominance. The eulittoral is bounded at the top end by the disappearance of
barnacles in any significant quantity (Stephenson Stephenson, 1972).
The lowest part of the shore is uncovered at extreme low water spring tide, never at
neap tides, and is known as the sublittoral zone. Where wave action is particularly
strong, this zone may not even be uncovered except when the lowest spring tides
coincide with calm weather. As such, this zone is exposed to the air for very short
periods, and for a very small proportion, of time. In many places, it never fully
A. S. Roma Research Paper
A.S. Roma was founded in 1927, by a merger of three smaller Roman clubs
Fortitudo Pro Roma SGS, Roman FC and SS Alba Audace. Out of all major
Roman football clubs, only Lazio refused to be a part of the new project; this
proved to be the beginning of one of the fiercest inter city rivalries in the world, the
famous Derby della Capitale. Roma managed to make their mark on Italian football
almost immediately, winning their first Scudetto in 1942. The post war period saw
them fall off the map a bit, as the club consistently found itself in the bottom half of
the league. As a culmination of their troubles, Roma was relegated in 1951; however,
they managed to return to the first division the following year and remain there until
today. The

Sociotechnical Systems and Management Styles Essay
Sociotechnical Systems and Management Styles In today s advanced technological
workplace, companies are looking into several new management styles and concepts.
Among them is a theory called sociotechnical systems (STS). This is a theory that
has been around for about 50 years and is still being attempted for use today. Many
managers along with one member of the STS founding team, Fred Emery, argue that
STS is obsolete; other managers have implemented STS with great success. With this
new style of managementpractice, several changes will have to take place. These
changes along with several examples of both positive and negative effects will be
examined throughout this essay.
To introduce the STS theory and let the reader ... Show more content on

Basically these principles 1. Scan the environment looking for influences on social
and technological subsystems Causation 2. Implement effects to combat
environmental changes Optimization and 3. Design the effects to achieve
implementation Design. The extent of these efforts often result in complaints among
many high level managers. Many managers wonder if all the required time will pay
off. Skeptical managers will often turn aside from this style of management.
Is STS Obsolete (Practical)?
Sociotechnical systems have been around for a long time now. Conventional STS
has been integrated into classroom instruction at the graduate level. While trying to
do this, STS lost many of its unwritten detailed subject matter and has been made
conceptually complicated as well as mathematically complex.3 Another problem
that Fred Emery states in his article is the overselling of STS. The pressures for
STS to work by itself have raised the theory at an extremely high standard waiting
for pitfalls in the process. Steve Canbana in his article on participative design states,
Over the years it has become apparent that traditional socio technical systems (STS)
design contains a number of pitfalls that frequently have led to implementation failure
or partial success. 4 A third issue lies in problems with

Gottman s Four Horseman Of The Apocalypse
When a couple has been together for at least forty years, one may ask them, how
have you put up with one person for so long, or what is your secret to marriage?
Unfortunately, a secret may not even exist, but learning how to deal with everyday
relationship conflicts, maybe the answer to a lasting marriage. Gottman and Declaire,
discovered that couples have conflictover the same issues sixty nine percent of the
time (1997) (pg.214) Gottman quotes We need to teach couples that they will never
solve most of their problems, and that couples need to establish a dialogue about the
problems. (1997) (pg.214) Validating, volatile, and conflict avoiding, are three
approaches couples use, when resolving conflict. Gottman studies show how
managing conflict could lead to lasting marriages. Communicationpractices are also
important when trying to resolve conflict. Gottman s Four Horseman of the
Apocalypse are four communication practices that have very negative outcomes for
the particular interaction and for the relationship. (pg.225) Conflicts are going to
occur in every relationship, but learning how to communicate with one another is
essential.
A validating couple, usually agrees on most basic issues of sex, money, religion and
children: (pg. 224) when a conflict arises they, are often seen as polite fighters. They

When a partner uses stonewalling as a form of conflict resolution, they remove
themselves emotionally or physically from the situation. The listener withdraws from
the conflict. According to Gottman, spouses often believe that stonewalling is a way
of trying to keep things calm and not make them worse. (pg.226) When it comes
down to it, stonewalling, is an act of giving up on trying to resolve the issue. Gottman
states that, husbands are more likely to use this technique, and it is particularly
difficult on their wives.
Isolation In A Rose For Emily
William Faulkner wrote a short story called A Rose for Emily. This story stuns
many readers starting from the beginning to the end. This story is based upon a
woman named Miss Emily Grierson and the isolated life she lives. The people in
the town she lives in gossip about her life. As this story goes on, readers can see
how Emily and her mental status changes. In the end of the story, it talks about
how the townspeople discovered a gruesome murder that Miss Emily committed.
The ending can give a sense to readers that something was not right with her. This
story can be portrayed as how Miss Emily begins to become mentally unstable,
which leads to a psychotic break because of social isolation, the death of her father,
and the influences of society. In this story, Miss Emily goes through so much that
she is ... living as a lonely recluse in her family s decaying aristocratic house for
more than forty years until her death (Hsu and Wang 87). When Emily s father was
still alive, ... he chases off every suitor that comes near her, denying Emily the
choice of taking up the traditional role of wife... and ... isolating her from the
townspeople (Hsu and Wang 89). The strictness of her father and the fact that Emily
... tries to live in the old aristocratic honor... has kept Emily living all alone and
separated from the town (Hsu and Wang). Living alone with only one person, her
manservant, impacted her social life. This severe time of isolation affected her
mental stability because
Major Teen Depression and Its Growing Issue in Society
People constantly overlook the severity of depression, more importantly, major
teen depression, which presents a legitimate obstacle in society. The intensity of
teen depression results from society s general lack of acknowledgement of the
rising affair. In 2012, 28.5% of teens were depressed and 15.8% of teens
contemplated the option of suicide (Vidourek 1 par. 1), due to their major depression
going unnoticed or untreated for. Even teenagers themselves often ignore their
depression or remain in denial because neither them nor anyone else recognizes the
signs. A sudden change in behavior is a main sign of someone being depressed,
which could lead to having suicidal thoughts, stated Pam Farkas, a clinical social
worker in California... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). Fortunately, treatment exists that regulates emotions, stress, and suicidal thoughts,
though most of them have moderate to dangerous side effects. Antidepressants intend
to regulate emotions and decrease depressing thoughts, but they have adverse side
effects such as anxiousness, restlessness, and even a possible increase in suicidal
thoughts (Teen Depression: When Should You Worry? 1 par. 5). Antidepressants
should be utilized as part of a larger medical plan, such as combining them with
counseling and other treatment options (Dumke 4 par. 5). Another treatment, called
psychotherapy, works in an effective way concerning mild to moderate depression
because it involves talking out issues rather than using medications. Two types of
psychotherapies exist: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps restructure
negative thought patterns and Interpersonal Therapy (IP) helps people understand
and work through troubled relationships (National Institutes of Health 6 par. 3). Since
psychotherapy utilizes more conservative methods, combining this treatment with a
combination proves to be more effective in teens with major depression. A
combination of psychotherapy and antidepressants seems to work the best and may
keep depression from recurring concerning teens with depression (Adolescents and
Clinical Depression 2 par. 4). The treatments available have potential to aid in
overcoming major teen

Street Vendors was introduced. In India, vendors are often regarded as a public

He starts watching her, following her around hoping that she ll notice him. Weeks go by and she still goes about her business oblivious to the boy next door who respectfully stalks her from a distances. A little time goes by and a silent dance between the two ensues. Now let s go back time, all the way back to the 1950 s. The term skinny jeans was invented first in the 1800 s by Levi Strauss. Skinny jeans were another term for a kind of jeans, like Levi s slim fit jeans. Over 100 years later, the brand Levi the name taken from the real jean inventor reinvented the skinny jeans in the 1950 s. • 6. Pubic Symphysis Discussion: Determination of age and sex in a set of skeletal remains can be a difficult task based on many factors. The variation seen in one particular population of people can manifest in the skeletons of these people as there is more variation between people within a population than there is people of another population (Burns 2007). When considering this set of variables many methods need to be employed to understand the diversity of variation within a specific population as some factors can provide different results that drastically vary the age and sex determination (Ubelaker 1989). The aging of the auricular surface was the first method to be used to determine an age range for UC71 (Buikstra and Ubelaker 1994). No billows or striae were present and changes to the apex are slight (Buikstra and Ubelaker 1994). Iscan and Loth created a comprehensive guide on the sternal ends of ribs so to help correlate age to features often found in the sternal ribs ends. This comparison allowed for a further narrowing down of age of the specimen. The dental attrition is not always a good feature in which to base age at time of death as diet for example may erode teeth faster, genetic predisposition to weak teeth as observed in some populations with nutritional deficiencies and lifestyle choices all play a part in how quickly the teeth wear. However, to get an idea of how dental attrition can be used to help narrow down and age range, especially in something like an isolated archaeological context, the application provided by Lovejoy as reprinted in the Human Osteology Textbook (White, Black, and Folkens 2012) was helpful in understanding normal wear patterns and how they correlate with chronological age. The specimen of UC71 had rather complete dentition which made determination much

He based many of his poems around religion and courtly love (two common themes of medieval poetry) and wrote many popular poems such as The Dance Of The Seven Deadly Sins and The Tretis of the Twa Mariit Wemen and the Wedo. This type of marriage made it easier for divorce and to remarry. In the poem, Dunbar uses a male narrator who is a voyeur eavesdropping into a conversation amongst three, intoxicated woman who are in a garden on Midsummer night s eve; two of them married and one a widow. In this conversation they discuss their husbands in an unpleasant way and discuss their sexual desires which at this time was unheard of to males as they classified woman as belongings and inferior. This poem is an attempt by Dunbar to get inside the head of a woman which was a common thought amongst men as some were worried woman were untrustworthy. The setting of this poem plays an important, although discreet role as Midsummer Eve is associated with fertility rites back in pre Christian times and the garden they are in would have been filled with sweet scents from the flowers blooming at that time of year, so the setting is almost a metaphor for the woman and their duty to provide children and fertility. The poem begins with the voyeur telling his audience about the three women and how he is hiding and listening in to their personal conversation. To a modern audience this seems odd and disturbing but back in the time this was set, it was viewed as a normal way to get information, which is exactly what

Geostatistical Interpolation For Spatial Data Geostatistical Interpolation for Spatial Data Abstract: Continuous surfaces of rainfall climate variable are becoming increasingly used as input to spatially explicit atmospheric ,hydrologic ,ecologic and environmental models. Several methodologies exist for spatial interpolation of climate and weather parameters, among them is the ordinary kriging method .A large sampling effort is required to produce an accurate geostatistical map, and the extraction and analysis of each sample is often expensive, The effectiveness of a particular sampling scheme is dependent upon the spatial variability of the quantity being measured .In this paper ,we used the ordinary kriging method to estimate the rainfall distribution in Iraq. A total of 24 real points are used for evaluation. The results presents samples of maps for months January, October, March for years 2004, 2013 within the period of data. Birth order refers to the order a child is born in their family: birth order is often believed to have a profound and lasting effect on psychological development (Wikipedia). Birth order has great effects on children, and it is seen especially in firstborn, middle born, and last born children. It is an interesting concept that will be explored in more depth in this paper. First, consider some of the characteristics seen in firstborn children. Some of the traits seen in first born children include: perfectionist, reliable, list maker, well organized, critical, serious, scholarly, seek approval, conservative, and law abiding (Lehnardt). They are also typically bad at delegating. Researchers suggest that firstborn are more highly motivated than other or later born children (Lehnardt). Firstborns are also more likely to seek help and are self critical. Firstborns are more likely to make at least $100,000 more annually than their siblings (Lehnardt). Researchers say firstborn are generally higher motivated than others. In addition, firstborns tend to score higher on IQ tests and typically get more education than their brothers and sisters (Lehnardt). Fossil fuel release carbon dioxide when they are burned which adds to the greenhouse effect and increases global warming. The way we can help the environment and reduce the amount of carbon dioxideis by replaying fossil fuels with solar and wind sources for electric power generations in the U.S. We burn fossil fueleveryday by driving cars. EIA estimates that U.S. motor gasoline and diesel fuel consumption for transportation in 2016 resulted in the emission of about 1,102 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and 437 million metric tons of CO2, respectively, for a total of 1,540 million metric tons of CO2. Tesla is one of the only company s that was able to make a full electric car. Even thought the prices for the cars is very expensive, the car only runs on a mere battery. If we are able to mass produce more batteries thats much more affordable, we can replace large amount of cars today with electric powered cars and reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is burned. Many people buy solar panels for their houses so they can use that energy. Solar panels help get energy for your house and use that energy for the lights or even to produce heat for your house. You can add immense amounts of insulation when building a new house even if cost a little bit more, it will lower the cost for heating and air conditioning

This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in the end, they will always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another example of figurative language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of crayons, has let go the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... The design and construction of the towers took years and the effort of thousands of people. A project of that size created challenges that demanded the use of dramatic new engineering concepts. Final plans called for a complex of low level buildings surrounding two 1350 foot towers. Their great height was made possible by the use of load bearing walls. (PBS, 2000 2001) Extremely tall buildings were inefficient since structural support and elevators took up huge amounts of interior space. The exterior walls were design to hold much of the weight of the towers and as well as all of the wind loads. The only internal support for the buildings was a central support of towers. Elevators were placed in the shafts that were formed by the columns. These engineering considerations determined the towers basic design. At mid shore, for example, exposure is 50 percent of the time to air, and 50 percent to water. This area forms the eulittoral zone, and a greater number of species are found here than in the littoral fringe. Communities found in this zone must be tolerant of short periods of exposure to air between the tides, although they almost always require regular submersion or at least a thorough wetting (Tait and Dipper, 1998). Species include barnacles, mussels, and other sessile forms such as oysters (Boaden Seed, 1985). The barnacles commonly belong to such genera as Balanus, Chthamalus, and Tetraclita. There is a strong tendency (Stephenson Stephenson, 1972) for this zone to be further divided into two or three subzones. In lower subzones, barnacles may be obliterated or overshadowed by other sedentary forms; but in the higher eulittoral subzones barnacles are greatest in concentration, and show dominance. The eulittoral is bounded at the top end by the disappearance of barnacles in any significant quantity (Stephenson Stephenson, 1972). The lowest part of the shore is uncovered at extreme low water spring tide, never at neap tides, and is known as the sublittoral zone. Where wave action is particularly strong, this zone may not even be uncovered except when the lowest spring tides coincide with calm weather. As such, this zone is exposed to the air for very short periods, and for a very small proportion, of time. In many places, it never fully

Out of all major Roman football clubs, only Lazio refused to be a part of the new project; this proved to be the beginning of one of the fiercest inter city rivalries in the world, the famous Derby della Capitale. The post war period saw them fall off the map a bit, as the club consistently found itself in the bottom half of the league. Among them is a theory called sociotechnical systems (STS). This is a theory that has been around for about 50 years and is still being attempted for use today. Many managers along with one member of the STS founding team, Fred Emery, argue that STS is obsolete; other managers have implemented STS with great success. With this new style of managementpractice, several changes will have to take place. The extent of these efforts often result in complaints among many high level managers. Many managers wonder if all the required time will pay off. Skeptical managers will often turn aside from this style of management. Is STS Obsolete (Practical)? Sociotechnical systems have been around for a long time now. Conventional STS has been integrated into classroom instruction at the graduate level. While trying to do this, STS lost many of its unwritten detailed subject matter and has been made conceptually complicated as well as mathematically complex.3 Another problem that Fred Emery states in his article is the overselling of STS. The pressures for STS to work by itself have raised the theory at an extremely high standard waiting for pitfalls in the process. Steve Canbana in his article on participative design states, Over the years it has become apparent that traditional socio technical systems (STS) design contains a number of pitfalls that frequently have led to implementation failure or partial success. 4 A third issue lies in problems with

Antidepressants intend to regulate emotions and decrease depressing thoughts, but they have adverse side effects such as anxiousness, restlessness, and even a possible increase in suicidal thoughts (Teen Depression: When Should You Worry? 1 par. 5). Antidepressants should be utilized as part of a larger medical plan, such as combining them with counseling and other treatment options (Dumke 4 par. 5). Another treatment, called psychotherapy, works in an effective way concerning mild to moderate depression because it involves talking out issues rather than using medications. Two types of psychotherapies exist: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps restructure negative thought patterns and Interpersonal Therapy (IP) helps people understand and work through troubled relationships (National Institutes of Health 6 par. 3). Since psychotherapy utilizes more conservative methods, combining this treatment with a combination proves to be more effective in teens with major depression.
