San Antonio Art Museum Analysis
The San Antonio Art Museum Rodin exhibit invited us to question the understanding
from the works of a spiritual and intrepid artist named, Auguste Rodin who informs
us of our natural abilities to communicate language with our bodies. Rodin employs
clay and bronze waxing to produce my favorite artwork piece Large Hand of a
Pianist where Rodin accomplishes a fragmented hand with impeccable craftsmanship.
In order to successfully sculpt the hand to imitate the rhythmic finger formations of a
pianist hand, each flexor digitorium superficialis and profundus (crucial parts of the
fingers that enable movement) creates a bent like orientation to display a hand
playing mellifluous music and explicating freedom and tranquility. I think Rodin not

The stories behind his pieces were internal and conceptualized and spoke to viewers
imagination, such as Large Hand of a Pianist where he gives tangible form to things
that are not visible such as energy, sound and rhythm (Iris B. Gerald Cantor
Foundation, 2016). Rodin s new way of perceiving art allowed us to use our
imagination to make sense of what was presented to us, but why was this
transformation so important? Rodin banished the many narrative references to
classical myths still adhered to late 19th century academic sculptures that placed
stress human moments of dignity in a limited way. However, Rodin incorporated a
sense of novelty that was sadly, initially not appreciated. He sculpted life like
fragmented figures with ostensible modern attitudes of proud physicality and love
with attempts to skew from the traditional focus on gods and muses. Additionally, the
bronzes he incorporated sculptural surface that carried a potential for expression.
Analyzing Rodin s work at first glance can enable a person to tap into their creative
side without the use words, but physical expression to display emotional content. Of
course, Rodin work was initially unappreciated, but it did come with accolades. He
marked the birth of a transformated and novelty form of art in the 1890 s and since
then is a laudable artist that we cannot forget.

The Dramatic Twist Of This Graphic Memoir By Alison
Bechdel
To reveal something from the past is called memoir. Introducing the dramatic twist
of this graphic memoir written by Alison Bechdel will be explained in my essay.
Alison Bechdel is a young lady who came out as being lesbian at the age of 19.
Bechdel is the only child of a family of three and she deals with a problem which
has to do with her father giving her hidden love. Bechdel uses memoir in the book
to find herself in life in many ways. Bechdel relates in memoir through her parents
as they were talented in their own way, so she compare her lifestyle to theirs. Her
coming out to be lesbian was used in a way different from her father. Bechdel would
include details in her drawings so that the audience could get an understanding of her.

Alison Bechdel came out as a lesbian when she was 19 years old. Her being
homosexual was a reaction off of her father. Bechdel and her father did not really
talk, but she understood that her father were gay and she wanted him to notice her
love for him being gay because she was the same as him. Bechdel father showed
her hidden love. He loved her, but he did not really show it a lot because they
never really talk. When Bechdel and her father did talk she was happy because it
was unusual for her when he said something to her, or when he got close to her.
Bechdel father also tried to take her to a gay bar after her and her father came from
the movies, but she was not 21 years old. Bechdel father knew she was homosexual
so that made her feel opened and more loved by her father because she felt that he
is now understanding her more about her homosexual life. In the book Fun Home
Bechdel use memoir to explain her parents creativity and compared her life to her
mother and father. Talents such as turning old things into new things. For example
in chapter 1 page 6 her father would take old furniture and restore it back to brand
new. Her father was an English teacher as well, he had a library stored in their
home with books he loved to read. Alison mother would go around the house
studying and reciting her lines like the actress she was, and whenever she had a
show she would invite the family. Alison as a young girl a young girl would look at
her and her parent s life,
Hunter Clifton I Like To Write Analysis
There are constant times in life when we to take a second look at something,
whether it is an object, a place, an idea, or even an idea. Through this second look,
we get a different perspective about it, either positive or negative. In my interview
with Hunter Clifton, I asked her if she likes to write. She answered, I like to write. It
seems common at first to just like to write, but if you asked her eight years ago if she
liked to write, she would have just plain out said No! Hunter grew up in Columbus
Ohio with a love for Jesus, serving others, and missions. Her desire to write, however,
took a while longer to develop. It required a little bit of time and a lot of God s
assistance. Her experience in writingstarts in Saint Brendan Middle School. During
this time, she joined a writing club. This club used to hold several competitions that
allowed writers to show their skill. Hunter competed in these. Unfortunately, she did
not win any of the competitions. She did not even receive... Show more content on

It was her that she wanted to go into ministry wanted to go to Evangel University.
God had other plans. He eventually led her to come here to Southeastern
University. One of her first classes was English Composition 1. She did not think
that it was going to be enjoyable, given her past encounters with writing. However,
this class was very different. Instead of just writing research papers, the professor
had her write creative papers. After so many years, she finally had the opportunity
to express her opinion, her ideas, and her beliefs. When she turned in her work, not
only did the professor admire it, despite some criticisms, but the professor also
encouraged her to keep doing better. This was exactly what she needed. She finally
saw writing in its truest form, as an opportunity to utter her creative abilities, rather
than as a burden of simply typing words until they just become good enough to turn

Seat Belts
A seat belt is a restraining device installed in a vehicle to prevent or minimize the
force of an injury during a crash ( Seat Belts 5). Although it is also known as a
safety belt, the safety part is the key issue that is causing much controversy around
drivers, manufacturers, and researchers alike. The main idea around the debate is the
fact that although research indicates that when seat belts are used properly they save
lives, opponents argue that mandating their use can actually cause more harm than
good in some cases and is an infringement on personal rights. Car accidents are the
leading cause of death for people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freedom stops when we get to a point where others may be harmed or killed. As soon
as something puts lives in danger, the right of freedom disappears thus making
mandatory seatbelt laws a non infringement on freedom.
Seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device for preventing death and
injury in a vehicle ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ). Wearing a seat belt can
reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50%. Seat belts save lives and are effective in
preventing ejections from a vehicle. While opponents argue that in certain cases it
is better to not wear a seatbelt, wearing a seatbelt is usually the safer route. A
person will never know what type of accident they might enter and thus can t
prepare for a certain type of accident. You can t know whether or not having a
seatbelt will save you. It s better to wear a seatbelt and have a 50% of survival than
not wearing a seatbelt and have a 3% chance of being in a situational accident
where not having a seat belt will save you. Research shows that Seat Belts saved
more than 75,000 lives from 2004 to 2008 ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ).
Without the mandatory use of seat belts, many lives could be put in danger and
this would have negative social and economic effects on society. 49 States in the
USA have issued mandatory seat belt laws to promote safe habits and to protect the
people. With this law in place, many lives have been saved as people were forced to
wear seat belts to properly
Betrayal In The Odyssey And The Song Of Roland
The moral and practical implication of loyalty and betrayal in The Odyssey and The
Song of Roland
Loyalty and betrayal are two virtues that exist on different sides when it comes to
trust. Most of the early works or poetry and literature depicted these two virtues
rather vividly. What we see in these works of literature is loyalty that runs in the
family but is broken by one of its members because of either greed or jealousy.
Such virtues as loyalty or betrayal were reflected by authors in their literature works
mostly because of what they had seen or experienced. This means that they often
would shed light on how the society was at their time. I will discuss the moral and
practical implication of loyalty and betrayal and how it is reflected ... Show more

In The Song of Roland, vassalage can be seen to resemble Christianity where
Roland s supreme liege lord is God and by serving his lord he fulfills the roles of a
Christian (Merwin, W. S., Clermont Ferrand, M., 2001). Therefore the loyalty runs
both ways. Another form of loyalty in The Song of Roland is portrayed by Turpin
who is and Archbishop who serves the king and emperor. When Turpin feels that he
is close to death the says the following
Judicial Restraint Analysis
Judicial activism and judicial restraint are two terms used to describe the philosophy
and motivation behind some court decisions. Unfortunately, the popular use of the
two terms has led to much confusion about its real meaning and correct application.
At the most basic level, judicial activism refers to a theory of judgment that takes into
account the spirit of the law and the changing times, while judicial restraint is based
on a strict interpretation of the law and the importance of legal precedents.
In many cases, if a specific judge or court may be called, Äúactivist Au or
Äúrestrained Au involves careful look back at the history of the sentences look.
An activist judge, for example, can have a strong history of overturning precedent
and legislation. Moreover, a pattern likely to emerge the alignment of political and
ideological preferences decisions. An activist judge may be conservative or liberal in
his views. One factor that can define an activist is a commitment to personal or
political philosophies through the trial, regardless of the law.
A judge or court engages in a policy of judicial restraint, by contrast, may have a
history of the defense of the laws as written, and adherence to precedent. The political
composition of a restraint based court should have little effect on decisions, because
the judges will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Problems and confusion about the meaning of these terms usually begin when
these philosophies are placed in a framework of good and evil, moral versus
immoral, or objective versus subjective positions. Judicial activism is often, but
incorrectly, associated with liberalism, while judicial restraint also incorrectly
interpreted as a conservative viewpoint. In fact, some decisions may argue to be
examples of conservative judicial activism, while others may be claimed to be
examples of liberal judicial
The Death Of Gertrude And King Gertrude s Hamlet
Condemnation and guilt the two symbolize the pure state when an individual feels
that she has acted in immoral ways and yearns for the opportunity to atone for those
faults. Unfortunately, they are not always prominent in the individual s eyes, and
they return to mercilessly pervade one s soul, sometimes even the people around her.
When it comes to Queen Gertrude and her heinous action of committing incest with
the brother of her late husband, the stigma is undeniable. Yet, considering the
circumstances of Old King Hamlet s death, there remains an abstruseness. Gertrude
neither defending or denying the enigmatic claim implies inquiry inquiry that must be
solved.
There is oddity in the reasons why Gertrude and King Claudius chose to commit to
companionship together, especially doing so only while Old King Hamlet be but
two months dead, or nearly so (1.2.142). With Claudius, he aimed for the sole
purpose of gaining: power over Elsinore and love from the queen his true crimes of
passion. Queen Gertrude s benefits of this affiliation are unknown. Hitherto, it is also
unknown if any benefits actually exist for such a good natured matron.
Gertrude s true chastity is tested when Polonius is murdered by Prince Hamlet.
Although shocked by the manslaughter at first glance by shouting what hast thou
done , Gertrude doesn t take much to mind of the exploit subsequently (3.4.31). She
could have killed before, seen a dead body before, or had even observed the blood
and glory
Management Practices
Who are Managers???
A manager is someone who coordinates and oversees the work of other people so
that organizational goals can be accomplished. A manager s job is not about
personal achievements it is about helping others do their work. That may mean
coordinating the work of a departmental group, or it might mean supervising a
single person. It could involve coordinating the work activities of a team of people
from different departments or even people outside the organization, such as
temporary employees or employees who work for organization s suppliers. A
manager s work may also include duties not related to coordinating and overseeing
others work.
A manager is one who contributes to the organization s goals indirectly by directing

Management Functions OR Process of Management
Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling the
efforts of organization members and of using all other organizational resources to
achieve stated organizational goals.
A process is a systematic way of doing thing. We refer to management as a process
to emphasize that all managers, regardless of their particular attitudes or skills,
engage in certain interrelated activities in order to achieve their desired goals.
PLANNING
* Determines in advance what should be done; looking ahead and preparing for the
future. * Process of designing business objectives and charting out the methods of
attaining those objectives; define goals, establish strategies for achieving those
goals, and develop plans to integrate and coordinate activities. * Determination of
what is to be done, how and where it is to be done, who is to do it, and how results
are to be evaluated * Planning as a function is performed by managers at all levels.
* Plans are guides by which (1) the organization obtains and commits the resources
required to reach its objectives; (2) members of the organization carry on activities
consistent with the chosen objectives and procedures; (3) progress toward the
objectives is monitored and measured so that corrective action can be taken if
progress is unsatisfactory. * The first step in planning is the selection of goals for the
organization. Goals
Symptoms And Treatment Of The African Sleeping Sickness
Get Down With the Sickness, Sleeping Sickness
In 2014 MSF admitted 330 people for the african sleeping sickness. Tsetse flies are
carriers of the parasite human African Trypanosomiasis. There are 65 million
people at risk in 36 countries where tsetse flies are found. If not treated the disease
is fatal. T. Brucei Gambiense is responsible for the reportings of more than 98% of
human trypanosomiasis. Only 2% of reported cases come from T. Brucei
rhodesiense. There are 3 kinds of trypanosomiasis but T. brucei brucei does not affect
humans. ( What Is African Sleeping Sickness? )

Slave traders avoided these symptoms. In 1902 the first detection of trypanosomes
in human blood was reported. In Uganda and Congo the earliest recorded
epidemics took place between 1896 and 1908. In Congo roughly 500,000 people died
and 300,000 people died in Busoga, Uganda. By the late 1940 s the spread of the
African Sleeping Sickness died down. We have come a long way for treating the
African Sleeping Sickness. There is a three step pathway. ( African Trypanosomiasis)
The transmission of the disease is by the tsetse fly. The tsetse fly is exclusively
found in sub Saharan Africa. 97% of reported cases are from the 7 most affected
countries out of 36 that are considered endemic. The characteristics of the African
Sleeping Sickness can have great socio economic effects but the number of cases
are trivial. Around 10,000 new cases of the African Sleeping Sickness are reported
each year but many cases go undiagnosed. This makes it difficult to pinpoint how
many people have the disease. It s mode for transmission is from person to person
after infected by the tsetse fly bites someone. If the African Sleeping Sickness is
left untreated the mortality rate is almost 100%. Trypanosomiasis feeds off of the
glucose your red blood cells are supposed to be making and the lack of energy
makes you seem sleepy. You fall asleep more often and then fall into a coma. The
coma then leads to death.
Vinegar Titration Lab
This lab dealt with determining the percentage Acetic Acid (CH3COOH) in
Vinegar. The main purpose of the experiment was to make sure if the vinegar
solution has the right amount of acetic acid, which is about 5%, using the titration
technique. The hypothesis is that the percentage of acetic acid in the vinegar
solution used will be very close to the usual percentage of 5%. The experiment was
to use the standard solution of NaOH to titrate the given vinegar solution to
determine the percent concentration of acetic acid. The result of the experiment
came out to close the 5% of the normal percentage of acetic acid contained in a
vinegar solution, but was inaccurate due to two errors in the experiment. The
controls in this experiment are the sample of vinegar solution used, the number of
drops of phenolphthalein used, and the same amount of the .04M 100mL solution
used in all trials in both weeks. Introduction This lab was the titration of NaOH
solution into the sample to determine the percent of acetic acid in the vinegar. The
pure acid is a colorless viscous liquid or glassy solid. The three objectives in this
lab are to develop a detailed titration procedure using a different method of preparing
a NaOH solution each week, calculate the percentage of acetic acid in the vinegar
solution in each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was determined that the average concentration of acetic acid that was in the
sample of distilled white vinegar was 3.5%, which is lower than the recommended
concentration of about 5%.. Differences existed in the experimental results from the
two weeks the experiment was conducted. These differences were the errors in
finding the amount of a 0.4 M diluted NaOH solution that is needed to turn a vinegar
solution lightly pink, and the calculation on how to dilute 1.0 M of NaOH to 0.4 M.
Without these errors the experiment could have been more accurate and
Student Reflection
The past four years of high school have been full of change, development, and
discovery. I have grown into a more conscientious, outgoing, and considerate young
women who is now ready to face the next chapter in her life college. My high
school experiences challenging classes that have taught me to precisely express my
thoughts, extracurricular activities where I am able to expand and express my ideas,
and a social action trip in Chicago have helped shape my intellectual and personal
outlook, creating a strong foundation for my career as a student at La Salle University.
In my Freshman Honors English class, the teacher assigned the daunting task of
writing a one page, double spaced paper on how to live a purposeful life. This
assignment seemed impossible at first, but upon further reflection it became quite
clear. To quote from my paper, Living a purposeful life includes finding something
you can love and excel in, and sharing that skill with the world. Writing this paper
showed me the value of being concise, and the importance of having a passion in
life and using it to help others. Four years later, this concept has become the
guiding principle of my life, and it has encouraged me to bring light to other
people s lives by earning a degree in speech pathology. Through this class I
discovered that I have a great appreciation for classes in which my preconceived
notions are challenged. The Honors Triple at La Salle University attracted me from

Analysis Of Freakonomics
The movie Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner was a great
way to bring light into the science of economics. The authors Steven Levitt and
Stephen Dubner would give two subjects that are unrelated to each other to give
viewers an understanding of Freakonomics. This was a great idea because I would
have never thought that a teacher and a sumo wrestler would have anything in
common. Additionally, in the beginning of the movie the authors mention three
types of incentives, which are moral, social, and economics and how individuals
learn to acknowledge them (Freakonomics, N/A). In this case, Levitt s knowledge
allows him to find cause and effect in data, I like to explain how people get what
they want, he says. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this instance, I was unsure of how the authors would compare sumo wrestlers and
teachers, but if the thought of teachers cheating is disrespectful then the thought of
sumo wrestlers cheating may also be disquieting because it is a sport shrouded in
spirituality. However, sumo wrestlers purposely lose their matches due to blackmail
and bribery. Additionally, some elite wrestlers earn high wages for their wrestling
matches, but most wrestlers earn low wages. As a result, they are much more
susceptible to offers of violent threats or money than the elite because they have
much more to lose (Freakonomics, N/A). For example, the comparison between
actual fights and predicted fight results displayed a strong favoring towards wrestlers
that were not anticipated to win. Furthermore, in a fighting tournament between two
wrestlers who had both won seven matches each, the anticipated outcomes were much
closer to the actual outcomes as both wrestlers had less incentive to cheat. Both
fighters were in the same position, they needed the last match to advance in the
tournament. There was no incentive for losing (Freakonomics, N/A). Nonetheless, if
a wrestler who had won seven wrestling matches and needed one more to move
forward, fought a wrestler already assured a spot in the next round regardless of the
result of the current fight, the wrestler with the assured spot has the incentive to throw
Analysis Of Blue Winds Dancing By Thomas Whitecloud
Being in a situation where one is questioning themself and who they truly are, can
lead to many conflicts not just within themselves, but within the ones that are
surrounding. In the story Blue Winds Dancing by Thomas Whitecloud and The
Enormous Radio by John Cheever, both protagonists face conflicts that affect both
themselves and the ones that surround them. The conflicts between the two stories
are very prominent as they both show internal and external conflicts between the lives
of two very different people. Both protagonists develop an internal conflictwhich is a
mental struggle arising from opposing demands or impulses. The story Blue
Winds Dancing reflects on the life of the narrator who remains nameless. He has
trouble identifying his own identity and understanding where he belongs. He
leaves the place he describes as a place where, the trees grow tall in rows; the palms

The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Literary
Analysis
Undeniably, Ken Kesey s intention throughout the novel of The One Who Flew
Over The Cuckoo s Nest was to enlighten us to a new world of understanding about
the complexities of human nature. From observations on the internal and external
conflicts between a rebel and a follower within a suppressive microcosm of society,
we are elevated to the understanding of how through human nature, both conflicting
figures are inevitably destroyed and further reinforces the social order. Thus, Kesey
resolves this complication by inspiring us to be neither a rebel nor a follower, but
convinces us throughout the text to take a third option in being a spectator that
learns from the mistakes made by others in order to truly escape the repressing order
of society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this Kesey warns us about the consequences of rebellion through the
emphasis on the symbolic feature of the electroshock therapy table. This image of the
table symbolises the consequences as well as the Nurse s power which is used to
plant fear within individuals preventing them from stepping out of line and becoming
disobedient to the system. As a consequence to McMurphy s effort in teaching about
the importance of individualism and the impudence of conformity, he was given
several ruthless electric shocks. The ruthless, abusive treatments that are given to
patients who opposes the system, portrays the tactics used by the authorities as a way
of maintaining this social order. Thus we are informed about the harsh consequences
of disobedience. Additionally, Kesey also takes advantage over the diction combine .
Chief mentions how the Combine which is a huge organisation that aims to adjust
the Outside as well as she has the Inside , the diction fully represents the idea of a
mechanical force on society that represses individuals, manipulating and controlling
their movement. The significance of the combine which is a machine that harvests
wheat, symbolises the mechanical nature of the hospital and the way in which
individuals are cut down and controlled. McMurphy who embodies spontaneity,
individuality and freedom opposed too big of a threat to the system and thus through
the authority of the combine was eventually lobotomised. Concurrently this idea of
rebels being stood down is once again proposed when the nurse states how the
patients are all under the jurisdiction and control of hers, this example shows the
dominance and control she has on the patients and the way she waits on the sidelines
with a needle expresses the violence and power used to suppress rebels from
opposing the system that

The Reasons behind Homosexual Discrimination
One of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, Dr Seuss, once said, Be who you
are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who
matter don t mind . Essentially, this advice is applicable to any given individual, yet
it seems that it is most suitable for homosexuals, and therefore why it lies within the
heart of gay rights. It is inevitable, that as a minority group, homosexuals will find
that they will encounter more people who mind than heterosexuals. This particular
discrimination has been occurring for decades all across the globe; however it
became prominent in the United States in the 1950s. In 1953, under President
Eisenhower, it was decided that homosexualitywas a sufficient enough reason in itself
to fire people from federal jobs. This executive order stood from 1953 until 1993,
providing support to the idea that discrimination in employment ranked as the
worst type of persecution gay people faced at the time, second only to physical
assault. Throughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s, both lesbian and male drag
queens suffered from frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by police
officers. Further, those same police officers were certainly no help when gays were
being abused and raped by other hateful individuals. It was not until June 28, 1969
that a group of gay customers at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich
Village, finally took a stand against the police harassment and created a riot. The
College of Business Development Plan
Development Plan One constant is change. Technologies change, processes change,
research creates and promotes change (Aguinis, 2013). A need for constant change
and improvement exists in any organization to remain competitive in the global
environment. This need to remain current in teaching and supporting the teaching
and research at the College of Business requires that employees invest in their
personal development. To assist with this, the college of business not only provides
funds for professional development supports ongoing development through the

A strategically sound organization such as the college of business will continually
develop employees grooming individuals to advance within the organization
(Aguinis, 2013). The plan seeks to prepare employees, noting potential to be found
and developing the noted talent through trainings, advice, coaching, and other
developmental methods (Aguinis, 2013). Beyond developing current skills, the plan
will seek to foster new competencies that are applicable to future positions within the
organization as well.
Enrich Employee s Work Experience The opportunity to expand and challenge oneself
enriches the employment experience (Aguinis, 2013). The vision for the College of
Business is: We are in the business of building successful futures (UCCS, 2013). This
building of futures includes all stakeholders, not just students or faculty. The
university does not always have funds to compensate employees with large merit
rewards, but the college expends great effort to ensure employees feel valued and

My interview with Mr. Juan Rodriguez was a great opportunity to learn more about
information technology and specifically about life as a business systems analyst. As
someone who is still exploring different majors, this interview gave me a lot of

who is still only in his upper twenties, I figured that he could be more relatable

problems inside of their company s databases. He also works with his company s
clients on a daily basis. He has a wide range of responsibilities and it was really
encouraging to learn that he wasn t just working on one specific task at a given
time. Next I asked him about the career path ladder in terms of promotions. Juan
explained he hasn t been promoted yet, but he has made transitions from one
department to another department within his company. He told me that he felt as if
he was in a dead end with his first position at Accretive Health. During his time at

The 1787 Philadelphia Constitutional Convention
The 1787 Philadelphia Constitutional Convention involved an extensive amount of
compromise among the delegates in order to finalize the U.S. Constitution into the
structure that it is known for today. On one end of the spectrum were states righters,
or Antifederalists, who were often delegates from smaller states such as Connecticut,
and who sought to scale back the power of the federal government. On the other end
of the spectrum were the Federalists, who wanted a strong national government to
unite the nation. Additionally, there were other delegates who could not be put into
such clear cut categories. What followed at the convention was the process of
compromise: a group of men with different ideas about how government should be

It made several proposals regarding the structure and powers of the federal
government. Under the Virginia Plan, both houses in the legislature would have their
representatives decided according to a state s number of free citizens. It was
assumed by Madison that both large and small states would agree to this proposal;
however, the smallest states were opposed because they knew they would have less
Congressional power under this governmental structure. Roche uses words like
militant and truly radical when describing the structure of the federal government
under the Virginia Plan. Both he and Lance Banning relate the support Madison s
plan received to the delegates memories of the behavior of state legislatures under the
Articles of Confederation. It is not surprising, therefore, that some delegates first
supported a plan that would protect against abuses of power by the states. In
response to the Virginia Plan, states righters began supporting the New Jersey Plan,
which called for equal representation in every state. Roche describes it as a reversion
to the status quo under the Articles of Confederation with but minor

In the first place, that the members are entitled to hold a registered company to its
registered objects has been recognized long since. Hence whenever an ultra vires
act has been or is about to be undertaken, any member of the company can get an
injunction to restrain it from proceeding with it. In this case the House of Lords
observed that the doctrine of ultra vires, as it was explained in the Ashbury s case,
should be maintained. But it ought to be reasonably and not unreasonably understood
and applied and that whatever may fairly be regarded as incidental to the objects
authorized ought not to be held ultra vires, unless it is expressly prohibited.
Accordingly in London County Council V Attorney General , the council having

Essay On Alternative Fuel
Alternative Fuels America needs to free itself from oil dependency. Every day
billions of dollars are spent on resourcing oil from other countries. The United
States consumes around 20 million barrels of oil every day. In the 1970 s when
the energy crisis happened, oil prices skyrocketed and the supply of oil ceased,
efforts shifted to find alternative sources of power. Although many people believe
alternative fuels are being researched and developed for environmental reasons such
as reducing our carbon emissions, they are actually becoming integrated into our
lives from an economic standpoint. Hydrogen, Electric, and Bio fueled cars are all

While electric vehicles are an excellent alternative source, they do have some
drawbacks. Electric vehicles have long charge times and the infrastructure isn t
fully developed all over the world. It s easy to find gas stations along the road, but
how often are electric vehicle charging stations found? The placement of the
structures is crucial because the chargers need to be in a good location. Authors of
Retailing Management Michael Levy and Barton Weitz explain that when a firm
decides to open a new station, they must make a substantial investment; either buy
and develop the real estate or commit to a long term lease typically ranging from 5
to 20 years. When companies set up a charging station its more than just a place to
refuel, it s an investment logically thought out as to where it should be placed.
Electric vehicles are an amazing advancement but some people are turned away
who are used to quick gas fill ups. Hydrogen Fuel cell is another solution to finding
alternative fuel vehicles. This technology has zero emissions, a driving range of 300
miles, and can be refueled and moving again in minutes. Although this technology is
more recent, the military has taken a liking to hydrogen powered cars. Initially,
electric vehicles were appealing to military because of how quiet they are, but setting
up charging locations is extremely difficult and the military doesn t have time to wait
for their electric vehicles to charge while in combat. The hydrogen vehicle was
Freedom Of Religion And The American Civil Liberties
Union
Freedom of religion has been a right guaranteed to individuals in society. However,
it is ultimately just an idea put in place that is disregarded as something
insignificant. The workplaces of many people choose to deny employees the right
to express their religion freely, for fear it may leave a bad image for the company. It
is apparent that freedom of religionis not a strong right as many people may have
originally thought it was. The limits of this right have been tested for decades and
continue to be an issue for people today. Freedom of religion may go on to exist as a
right in society, but when investigating deeper into this privilege, it is evident that it
is merely an idea taken for granted. The First Amendment to the... Show more content

Another item to take into consideration when talking about freedom of religion is
the Establishment Clause. This clause does not allow for any portion of the
government to choose to acknowledge a particular religion. As a result, the
population is scrutinized for acknowledging religions practiced throughout the
world. The government may not support a specific religion, but ultimately owes
individuals the respect they deserve, even if they do associate with a particular
belief. This happens in order to make religious freedom only a minor idea instead
of the greater meaning of it as a right. Many schools and other religious
organizations are ultimately not supported by the government, in order to maintain
the separation of government agencies and religious doctrine (Your). Another
important part of the First Amendment, is the recognition of the Free Exercise
Clause. This gives individuals the right to select whether or not they want to be
involved with a religion of their choice. This clause also gives security to those who
want to be able to express their religion, without fear of harsh punishments inflicted
by others. Unfortunately, many people do not express a specific religion due to the
view society has. Since many people see the freedom of religion as only an idea,
there is not much emphasis placed on protecting a right that should be the most

amongst us today, many are not suspected by their neighbors, friends, or family,
until the day they make a fatal error leading to their arrest, and for some, they may
never be caught. With this being said, it really makes an average person ask
themselves, what is going on in a killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how
did they become that way? Are these killers products of their environment
(nurture), or a product of their biological make up (nature)? It is important to
define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not ambiguous.
Environment is defined as the circumstances by which one is surrounded.
Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance, generally in the sense of
genetics, which is our biological makeup. Are serial killers more prone to kill out
of the various factors of their independent lives? Or are they more prone to kill due
to the natural circumstances of their genes passed from their ancestors? I believe
serial killers genetic nature (heredity) is the largest contributing factor to their
desire to kill. In this essay I am going to review how serial killers possess low orbital
cortex activity, and the MAOA gene. I
Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge
Introduction
The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price
volatility. Estimations from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests
that the predominance of herding behavior may explain why the financial system in
1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120 months or 33% of the time (Persaud,
2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market ownership of
institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for
advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in
hopes that it that would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors
in the financial market. However such claims are not fully supported by empirical
research in the literature. Two schools of thoughts emerge the first being that herding
enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that herding initiates short term
trend reversals.
The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of
scholarly competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject
leading to conflicts in assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and
methodology often arise due to rational definitional irregularities on institutional
herding. An example of such a definitional irregularity occurs when as Avery defined
herd behavior as a trade by an informed agent which follows the trend in past trades
even though that trend is counter to his

that Nixon, the creator of new federalism, actually implemented the most severe
federal drug policies in the history of the United States. That being said, if the true
purpose and intent was that previously stated, allowing states to manage their own
drug policies still seems a more appropriate course of action for this model of
federalism. The argument used by all three branches of the federal government

federal judiciary requiring the states and/or localities to adhere to certain policies
(p. 151.) If an argument for preemption can be made, it would not be a recent
preemption but rather, can best be argued in the context of the 1937 Marihuana
[sic] Tax Act since this represents the first time that the federal government
attempted to control the sale of cannabis and it was previously identified as a state
issue. Consequently, judicial preemption (especially based on Gonzales v. Raichs,
2005) is difficult to argue since federal laws were already in place for over 30 years
and California s law did not exist until 1996. Further, because the court has ruled that
this is a constitutional issue relating to interstate commerce, an enumerated power,
preemption is not an entirely appropriate concept. Regarding mandates, while the
federal government reserves and indeed actively practices its authority to legislate
and enforce cannabis laws, it does not expressly require compliance from state and/or
local law enforcement or judiciary agencies. Rather, state and local
The Difference Between Civil, Civil And Civil Rights
The difference between a civil right and civil liberties is ultimately that a civil right
is the freedom of equality no matter race, gender, and disability whereas civil
liberties are the freedom that is guaranteed through the bill of rights or through courts
and law makers. Civil rights basically insure individuals the freedom of being treated
equal no matter race, gender, and disabilities. Civil rightsmake it so that there is no in
equality. It allows the disabled, the different races, and the different genders to
have the same rights as everyone else. Civil liberties are the freedom of rights that
are guaranteed by the laws that are in place of a country. An example of this is
how the U.S. has the Bill of Rights in place. These are civil liberties. They allow
citizens to have the freedom to do things like the freedom of speech, freedom of
religion, etc. These rights cannot be taken away from individuals.
I chose the 19th amendments right to vote regardless of gender. I chose this
because this is what made woman allowed to vote, this historical achievement has
become significant in American history. This amendment is a civil right because it
discusses gender. Individuals have the right to vote regardless of gender, it is there
rights. A civil right is the right to citizens to have equality no matter race, gender, or
disabilities, so the right to vote no matter your gender is classified as a civil right. It

Industrialization in India
Need for Trend of Industrialization in India
What is Industry?
In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and
that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities,
from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale,
from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or
transnational.
In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when
that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of
industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an
economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a

Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been
accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CГґte d
Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around
Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long
term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the
process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management.
Transnational Corporations
Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the
rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies,
which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and
Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by
transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years,
largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their
countries.
Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of
concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of
a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly
susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets
from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent,
and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries.

Argument Of Athanasius And Arius At The Council Of
Nicaea
Critically evaluate the arguments of Athanasius and Arius at the Council of Nicaea
The Patristic Era saw various controversies arising over the nature of Jesus Christ,
which consequently lead to the establishment of the creed as an attempt to reject the
heretical views held by proponents. An example of a heretical advocate is Arius,
who suggested Christ was inferior to God, but still above other creatures (McGrath,
2001, p.358). However, early orthodox theologians disputed this idea due to the
soteriological complications that accompanied it (Young, 2010, p.55). The central
advocator of this dispute was Athanasius, who questioned how Arius belief allowed
for salvation through Jesus Christ, which is a key orthodox belief identified within
the Bible. Accordingly, this essay will critically evaluate the heretical opinion of
Arius and determine how this Arian understanding was discarded by Athanasius and
the Nicene Creed. It is important to note that the Arian thought that will be assessed
is primarily presented to us by Athanasius, which will emphasise the conflicting
orthodoxy/heretical opinion that was held. In addition to this, the essay will
determine how the establishment of the creed at the Council of Nicaea, which was
greatly influenced by Athanasius (McGrath 2001, p,12), was a failed attempt to
expel all aspects of Arian heresy but a success in uniting Christians. Firstly, the
definition of heresy will be explained as to not discredit Arius Chrisitian belief:
Heresy is the acceptance of basic Christian principle but interpreting it in terms that
are not consistent with orthodoxy (McGrath, 2001, p.153). Arius, as a Christian,
accepted the supreme authority of an eternal God but he declared God alone is
anarchos and Jesus has an arche (Williams, 2001, p.97); the suggestion of Jesus
created existence makes him a distinctly separate nature from God. This a direct
rejection of the Council of Nicaea s declaration of Jesus having the same essence of
God; therefore, this Arian belief is a heresy through refusal not misinterpretation. This
heretical view is further fought against through Athanasius extensive focus on Jesus
death and the implications that this had on humanity as told by the Bible
The Consequences Of Timmy s Body
The virus will have several consequences on Timmy s body. The lysosomes Timmy
has are related to his digestive system and are responsible for the proper work of
the liver and kidneys. The liver has the function to protect the body from toxic
chemicals and create the chemicals that our organs need from the absorbed
materials in the small intestine. Moreover, it makes glycogen give energy to the rest
of the body and has a role in the body s process of digestionin the small intestine
through the bile it produces (Zimmermann). Most of these functions are done by the

What Is Industrialization In China
First is necessary to clarify that the Chinese government (Christiansen Rai,1988:214)
tried to determine the economy by ideology. However, Mao ideas did not work at all
and kept China as an underdeveloped country contrast to Xiaoping who clarified the
challenges and did enormous reforms to rise chinas economy to one of the world
leaders. But these economic reforms also developed unfamiliar problems for China.
What the whole world deals with till nowadays. At present China is paying huge cost

Nowadays, the most critical issue is the water supply unsustainable usage. The
companies do not adopt the existing technology to clear the water, their wastewater
returns into the river (Economy, 2010) with no consequences. This water is toxic to
the plants, human consumption even for industrial use. Inapprehensible, why they do
not take account of their interests. Irresponsible water usage causing water shortages
than the cities are drying out (Economy,2010). Local governments realized it is more
economical to use the technology to clear their own water than get it from
contaminated rivers. On the other hand, it is also causing food shortages which is
why China rely on imported grain is increasing.
Another important environmental issue is the air pollution. This problem causing
worldwide and domestic problems for China. In the last 30 years of industrial
development, China became a net coal importer of the world (Tang et al.2015) but
the production of energy is increasing. Especially, the outcomes on the
environmental, economic levels are forcing the interest for sustainable developments
(Hu et al.,2013). However, it takes a long time to see its benefit. Meanwhile, it is
questionable how long China can use coal (Lin Liu,2010), as an option China tries to
participate in the oil and gas industry. The world feeds China hunger for energy
supplies which is worsening the international energy security. In addition,
The Armenian Genocide In The Ottoman Empire
Jayden: Starting in 1915, the Turkish government stimulated a plan to exterminate
Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire. Most sources agree that there were around
2 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire at the time of the massacre. By the early

Armenians were deceased, with many more forcefully removed from their homeland

Sam: Today, most history experts and others worldwide label this event as a genocide.
A genocide is the deliberately executing of a large group of people, most of which are

discrimination, prejudice, and racism was still a way of life. Due to a court order,
three high schools in Alexandria, Virginia were forced to integrate their students and
faculty for the first time. Consequently, Coach Bill Yoast
, a prominent, white member
of the community and longtime head coach of the T.C. Williams High School
football team, is asked to step down. Herman Boone is appointed to replace him as
the school s first black faculty member and head football coach. The new coach faces
many challenges; the newly integrated team is full of players (both black and ... Show

Sunshine, the backup quarterback was called in after their first string quarterback,
Reggie was injured intentionally by a white player on the opposing team. Sunshine
knew that it was on purpose so he told one of his blockers to go ahead and let him
through. After he threw the pass, he table topped the guy coming at him that had just
hurt Reggie in the previous play. That was an example of unity at its finest, coming
together as a team, as brothers when they were tested. Sunshine made a point to stand
up for a friend, someone he had grown to develop a relationship with despite the
color difference between the two.
Gerry couldn t be at the championship game due to his car accident that left him
paralyzed, so he watched the game from his hospital bed. At this point the game
was seven to three, the opposing team up. After a tough hit, one of their players
fumbles the football and Rev recovers it. The next play they ran for the touchdown.
The titans had won the championship! The camera points toward the stands where
it shows Gerry Bertier s mother, Jean, reaching out to Carol Boone (Coach Boone s
wife) for a hug. Jean is just now coming around to the idea of blacks and whites
being friends. All because of her son and Julius who showed her that it was okay, and
the right thing to do. After their hug it shows the other team s coach who is white,
run up to Coach Boone and congratulate him on the big win. It was at that
Genomic Variations
Genetic and genomic variations are being taken into consideration when referring to
nursing interventions for patients. In the discussion paper, Individual Genetic and
Genomic Variation: A New Opportunity for Personalized Nursing Interventions by
Munro (2014), the author examines the potential for genetic and genomic variations
being incorporated into nursing interventions for patients. According to Tremblay and
Hamet, Genomics include interactions among genes, intergenic regions, epigenetic
factors and environmental factors (As cited in Munro, 2014, p. 36). The study of
these genomics revealed that genomes are able to respond to environmental
influences. Complicated genome environmental interactions could be presented by

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death among men and
women in the United States. There is a higher chance of CHD affecting men,
therefore when CHD affects women there are less interventions and poorer
recognition of this disease. The study Women s Experiences of Undergoing
Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery by Banner (2011), it explores the lived
experiences of women before and after CABG surgery. This study included thirty
women aged between 53 and 80 years old who were interviewed before and after their
surgery. Prior to surgery, these women were reluctant to seek medical attention when
they were not feeling good. Instead, they often sought the advice of friends and
family members. However, talking about their condition made the women feel more
anxious, fearful, insecure and more reluctant to discuss these worries with loved ones
partly to preserve normal family relationships and to decrease their anxieties (p. 923).
Banner states that symptoms were frequently ignored being attributed to other less
serious causes, chronic conditions or to advancing age (p. 922). The patients did not
seek medical attention for their symptoms until the symptoms disrupted their lives.
When they finally sought medical attention their descriptions of their symptoms were
very and vague therefore led to inaccurate diagnoses. After surgery these women felt
they were able to return to normal
Summary Of The Phantom Menace By Padme Amidale
In 1999, The Phantom Menace was released into theaters. The beginning of the saga
was brought to understand where the original trilogy s villain origin story came
from and where the famous twins Luke and Leia came from. Leia stole the hearts of
many in the original trilogy and it was now her mother s turn to take the spotlight.
Many did not welcome her character with open arms and rejected her. She was the
young naГЇve queen with a crazy fashion sense who had a crush on a nine year old
boy. At a very young age, Padme was interested in politics which happens to be a
male dominated career. Fourteen year old Padme Amidala was elected queen of
Naboo. While many would call her naГЇve, the planet elected the young for their
purity and believed age brought corruption. Age could have brought naivety, but
Padme had proven herself a leader her people trusted that once her second term
ended they wanted her to continue leading the planet. In episode I, Amidala deals
with the struggle of the Trade Federation who wants the planet to surrender to them
while they are controlled by Darth Sidious. It was a plan to gain control over the
galaxy with easier access since the young can be easily influenced. Amidala refused
that easy access over her planet from the Trade Federation. She is level headed to
not directly take action for war but to persuade the senate for a plead of help. When
the escape to Coruscant is delayed, she takes the opportunity to widen her knowledge
about the planet Tatooine
Symbolism In Pat Conroy s The Water Is Wide
Pat Conroy s memoir, The Water is Wide, is about his life on Daufuskie Island,
also known as Yamacraw Island in the book. Conroy spent a year teaching on the
island in a little two room schoolhouse. The Yamacrawans were rural African
American people that by leaving on the island had basically no knowledge of
anything beyond the island. Conroy tells of all the troubles he faced while
teaching on the island and all the struggles he faced with outside forces. Conroy
uses the setting, the title of his book, symbolism, and different themes to express
what the year he spent teaching there was like. The setting of the novel is the
south, on an island just off the coast of South Carolina. The island is connected to
the mainland of South Carolina by a river, and the only way to get on or off the
island is by boat. Conroy uses the setting of this book to reveal just how cut off the
Yamacrawans are from the real world , and how much this has affected the
students he is working with. Conroy states that The twentieth century has basically
ignored the presence of Yamacraw (Conroy 3), . The students have no idea what
kind of world they are living in, All around the room sat human beings of various
sizes and hues who were not aware that a world surrounded them, a world they
would be forced to enter, and enter soon (Conroy 37) , and this worries Conroy. The
title of the book is also an important part of the story. Pat Conroychose this title in
reflection of the river between the

San Antonio Art Museum Analysis The San Antonio Art Museum Rodin exhibit invited us to question the understanding from the works of a spiritual and intrepid artist named, Auguste Rodin who informs us of our natural abilities to communicate language with our bodies. Rodin employs clay and bronze waxing to produce my favorite artwork piece Large Hand of a Pianist where Rodin accomplishes a fragmented hand with impeccable craftsmanship. In order to successfully sculpt the hand to imitate the rhythmic finger formations of a pianist hand, each flexor digitorium superficialis and profundus (crucial parts of the fingers that enable movement) creates a bent like orientation to display a hand playing mellifluous music and explicating freedom and tranquility. The stories behind his pieces were internal and conceptualized and spoke to viewers imagination, such as Large Hand of a Pianist where he gives tangible form to things that are not visible such as energy, sound and rhythm (Iris B. Gerald Cantor Foundation, 2016). Rodin s new way of perceiving art allowed us to use our imagination to make sense of what was presented to us, but why was this transformation so important? Rodin banished the many narrative references to classical myths still adhered to late 19th century academic sculptures that placed stress human moments of dignity in a limited way. However, Rodin incorporated a sense of novelty that was sadly, initially not appreciated. He sculpted life like fragmented figures with ostensible modern attitudes of proud physicality and love with attempts to skew from the traditional focus on gods and muses. Additionally, the bronzes he incorporated sculptural surface that carried a potential for expression. Analyzing Rodin s work at first glance can enable a person to tap into their creative side without the use words, but physical expression to display emotional content. Of course, Rodin work was initially unappreciated, but it did come with accolades. He marked the birth of a transformated and novelty form of art in the 1890 s and since then is a laudable artist that we cannot forget.

Introducing the dramatic twist of this graphic memoir written by Alison Bechdel will be explained in my essay. Alison Bechdel is a young lady who came out as being lesbian at the age of 19. Bechdel is the only child of a family of three and she deals with a problem which has to do with her father giving her hidden love. Bechdel uses memoir in the book to find herself in life in many ways. Bechdel relates in memoir through her parents as they were talented in their own way, so she compare her lifestyle to theirs. Bechdel father showed her hidden love. He loved her, but he did not really show it a lot because they never really talk. Through this second look, we get a different perspective about it, either positive or negative. In my interview with Hunter Clifton, I asked her if she likes to write. She answered, I like to write. It seems common at first to just like to write, but if you asked her eight years ago if she liked to write, she would have just plain out said No! Instead of just writing research papers, the professor had her write creative papers. After so many years, she finally had the opportunity to express her opinion, her ideas, and her beliefs. When she turned in her work, not only did the professor admire it, despite some criticisms, but the professor also encouraged her to keep doing better. This was exactly what she needed. She finally saw writing in its truest form, as an opportunity to utter her creative abilities, rather than as a burden of simply typing words until they just become good enough to turn

  • 7. Betrayal In The Odyssey And The Song Of Roland The moral and practical implication of loyalty and betrayal in The Odyssey and The Song of Roland Loyalty and betrayal are two virtues that exist on different sides when it comes to trust. Most of the early works or poetry and literature depicted these two virtues rather vividly. What we see in these works of literature is loyalty that runs in the family but is broken by one of its members because of either greed or jealousy. Such virtues as loyalty or betrayal were reflected by authors in their literature works mostly because of what they had seen or experienced. Unfortunately, they are not always prominent in the individual s eyes, and they return to mercilessly pervade one s soul, sometimes even the people around her. When it comes to Queen Gertrude and her heinous action of committing incest with the brother of her late husband, the stigma is undeniable. Yet, considering the circumstances of Old King Hamlet s death, there remains an abstruseness. Gertrude neither defending or denying the enigmatic claim implies inquiry inquiry that must be solved. There is oddity in the reasons why Gertrude and King Claudius chose to commit to companionship together, especially doing so only while Old King Hamlet be but two months dead, or nearly so (1.2.142). As a result, they are much more susceptible to offers of violent threats or money than the elite because they have much more to lose (Freakonomics, N/A). For example, the comparison between actual fights and predicted fight results displayed a strong favoring towards wrestlers that were not anticipated to win. Analysis Of Blue Winds Dancing By Thomas Whitecloud Being in a situation where one is questioning themself and who they truly are, can lead to many conflicts not just within themselves, but within the ones that are surrounding. In the story Blue Winds Dancing by Thomas Whitecloud and The Enormous Radio by John Cheever, both protagonists face conflicts that affect both themselves and the ones that surround them. The conflicts between the two stories are very prominent as they both show internal and external conflicts between the lives of two very different people. Both protagonists develop an internal conflictwhich is a mental struggle arising from opposing demands or impulses. The story Blue Winds Dancing reflects on the life of the narrator who remains nameless. He has trouble identifying his own identity and understanding where he belongs. He leaves the place he describes as a place where, the trees grow tall in rows; the palms stand stiffly by the roadsides and in the groves the orange trees line in military rows, and endless bear fruit. This is his comfort zone which also known as Indian Society leaves to go study and live under white civilization. He realizes that he does not belong there because he felt as if he was an outcast. He criticizes the society for being so competitive and very different from his community. Where he is from, everyone is equal and very appreciative of everything they have as they are not comping themselves to others. He then thinks that maybe he is the problem and contemplates whether he can actually keep up with the white civilization. • 18. The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Literary Analysis Undeniably, Ken Kesey s intention throughout the novel of The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest was to enlighten us to a new world of understanding about the complexities of human nature. From observations on the internal and external conflicts between a rebel and a follower within a suppressive microcosm of society, we are elevated to the understanding of how through human nature, both conflicting figures are inevitably destroyed and further reinforces the social order. Thus, Kesey resolves this complication by inspiring us to be neither a rebel nor a follower, but convinces us throughout the text to take a third option in being a spectator that learns from the mistakes made by others in order to truly escape the repressing order of society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this Kesey warns us about the consequences of rebellion through the emphasis on the symbolic feature of the electroshock therapy table. This image of the table symbolises the consequences as well as the Nurse s power which is used to plant fear within individuals preventing them from stepping out of line and becoming disobedient to the system. As a consequence to McMurphy s effort in teaching about the importance of individualism and the impudence of conformity, he was given several ruthless electric shocks. The ruthless, abusive treatments that are given to patients who opposes the system, portrays the tactics used by the authorities as a way of maintaining this social order. Thus we are informed about the harsh consequences of disobedience. Additionally, Kesey also takes advantage over the diction combine . Chief mentions how the Combine which is a huge organisation that aims to adjust the Outside as well as she has the Inside , the diction fully represents the idea of a mechanical force on society that represses individuals, manipulating and controlling their movement. The significance of the combine which is a machine that harvests wheat, symbolises the mechanical nature of the hospital and the way in which individuals are cut down and controlled. McMurphy who embodies spontaneity, individuality and freedom opposed too big of a threat to the system and thus through the authority of the combine was eventually lobotomised. Concurrently this idea of rebels being stood down is once again proposed when the nurse states how the patients are all under the jurisdiction and control of hers, this example shows the dominance and control she has on the patients and the way she waits on the sidelines with a needle expresses the violence and power used to suppress rebels from opposing the system that

The Reasons behind Homosexual Discrimination One of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, Dr Seuss, once said, Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don t matter and those who matter don t mind . Essentially, this advice is applicable to any given individual, yet it seems that it is most suitable for homosexuals, and therefore why it lies within the heart of gay rights. It is inevitable, that as a minority group, homosexuals will find that they will encounter more people who mind than heterosexuals. This particular discrimination has been occurring for decades all across the globe; however it became prominent in the United States in the 1950s. In 1953, under President Eisenhower, it was decided that homosexualitywas a sufficient enough reason in itself to fire people from federal jobs. This executive order stood from 1953 until 1993, providing support to the idea that discrimination in employment ranked as the worst type of persecution gay people faced at the time, second only to physical assault. Throughout the 1950s and well into the 1960s, both lesbian and male drag queens suffered from frequent rapes and sexual assaults committed by police officers. Further, those same police officers were certainly no help when gays were being abused and raped by other hateful individuals. It was not until June 28, 1969 that a group of gay customers at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in Greenwich Village, finally took a stand against the police harassment and created a riot. The

While electric vehicles are an excellent alternative source, they do have some drawbacks. Electric vehicles have long charge times and the infrastructure isn t fully developed all over the world. It s easy to find gas stations along the road, but how often are electric vehicle charging stations found? The placement of the structures is crucial because the chargers need to be in a good location. Authors of Retailing Management Michael Levy and Barton Weitz explain that when a firm decides to open a new station, they must make a substantial investment; either buy and develop the real estate or commit to a long term lease typically ranging from 5 to 20 years. When companies set up a charging station its more than just a place to refuel, it s an investment logically thought out as to where it should be placed. Electric vehicles are an amazing advancement but some people are turned away who are used to quick gas fill ups. Hydrogen Fuel cell is another solution to finding alternative fuel vehicles. This technology has zero emissions, a driving range of 300 miles, and can be refueled and moving again in minutes. Although this technology is more recent, the military has taken a liking to hydrogen powered cars. This clause does not allow for any portion of the government to choose to acknowledge a particular religion. As a result, the population is scrutinized for acknowledging religions practiced throughout the world. The government may not support a specific religion, but ultimately owes individuals the respect they deserve, even if they do associate with a particular belief. This happens in order to make religious freedom only a minor idea instead of the greater meaning of it as a right. Many schools and other religious organizations are ultimately not supported by the government, in order to maintain the separation of government agencies and religious doctrine (Your). Another important part of the First Amendment, is the recognition of the Free Exercise Clause. This gives individuals the right to select whether or not they want to be involved with a religion of their choice. This clause also gives security to those who want to be able to express their religion, without fear of harsh punishments inflicted by others. Unfortunately, many people do not express a specific religion due to the view society has. Since many people see the freedom of religion as only an idea, there is not much emphasis placed on protecting a right that should be the most

Serial killers live amongst us today, many are not suspected by their neighbors, friends, or family, until the day they make a fatal error leading to their arrest, and for some, they may never be caught. With this being said, it really makes an average person ask themselves, what is going on in a killers head? Or the even bigger question is, how did they become that way? Are these killers products of their environment (nurture), or a product of their biological make up (nature)? It is important to define the terms environment and heredity, as so they are not ambiguous. Environment is defined as the circumstances by which one is surrounded. Hereditary is defined as being based on inheritance, generally in the sense of genetics, which is our biological makeup. Are serial killers more prone to kill out of the various factors of their independent lives? Or are they more prone to kill due to the natural circumstances of their genes passed from their ancestors? I believe serial killers genetic nature (heredity) is the largest contributing factor to their desire to kill. • 30. Pushing The Herd Off The Cliff Edge Introduction The idea of institutional herding has a striking implication for security price volatility. Estimations from the essay Sending the Herd Off the Cliff Edge suggests that the predominance of herding behavior may explain why the financial system in 1990s had been in crisis for 40 out of the 120 months or 33% of the time (Persaud, 2000). These concerns, along with the increasing stock market ownership of institution investor in comparison to individual investors, is often used as a basis for advocating for an increase in monitoring institutional trading in equity markets in hopes that it that would lead to a reduction in the dominance of institutional investors in the financial market. However such claims are not fully supported by empirical research in the literature. Two schools of thoughts emerge the first being that herding enhances pricing efficiency, and second ascertains that herding initiates short term trend reversals. The emergence of two seemingly polar opposite beliefs is not as a result of lack of scholarly competence but rather due to the nature of complexity within the subject leading to conflicts in assumptions and methodology. Conflicts in assumptions and methodology often arise due to rational definitional irregularities on institutional herding. An example of such a definitional irregularity occurs when as Avery defined herd behavior as a trade by an informed agent which follows the trend in past trades even though that trend is counter to his

Further, Stephens Wikstrom (2007) identify judicial preemption as the federal judiciary requiring the states and/or localities to adhere to certain policies (p. 151.) If an argument for preemption can be made, it would not be a recent preemption but rather, can best be argued in the context of the 1937 Marihuana [sic] Tax Act since this represents the first time that the federal government attempted to control the sale of cannabis and it was previously identified as a state issue. Consequently, judicial preemption (especially based on Gonzales v. Raichs, 2005) is difficult to argue since federal laws were already in place for over 30 years and California s law did not exist until 1996. Further, because the court has ruled that this is a constitutional issue relating to interstate commerce, an enumerated power, preemption is not an entirely appropriate concept. Regarding mandates, while the federal government reserves and indeed actively practices its authority to legislate and enforce cannabis laws, it does not expressly require compliance from state and/or local law enforcement or judiciary agencies. Rather, state and local
  • 32. The Difference Between Civil, Civil And Civil Rights The difference between a civil right and civil liberties is ultimately that a civil right is the freedom of equality no matter race, gender, and disability whereas civil liberties are the freedom that is guaranteed through the bill of rights or through courts and law makers. Civil rights basically insure individuals the freedom of being treated equal no matter race, gender, and disabilities. Civil rightsmake it so that there is no in equality. It allows the disabled, the different races, and the different genders to have the same rights as everyone else. Civil liberties are the freedom of rights that are guaranteed by the laws that are in place of a country. An example of this is how the U.S. has the Bill of Rights in place. These are civil liberties. They allow citizens to have the freedom to do things like the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. These rights cannot be taken away from individuals. I chose the 19th amendments right to vote regardless of gender. I chose this because this is what made woman allowed to vote, this historical achievement has become significant in American history. This amendment is a civil right because it discusses gender. Individuals have the right to vote regardless of gender, it is there rights. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management. Transnational Corporations Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries. Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent, and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries. Manufacturing
  • 34. Argument Of Athanasius And Arius At The Council Of Nicaea Critically evaluate the arguments of Athanasius and Arius at the Council of Nicaea The Patristic Era saw various controversies arising over the nature of Jesus Christ, which consequently lead to the establishment of the creed as an attempt to reject the heretical views held by proponents. An example of a heretical advocate is Arius, who suggested Christ was inferior to God, but still above other creatures (McGrath, 2001, p.358). However, early orthodox theologians disputed this idea due to the soteriological complications that accompanied it (Young, 2010, p.55). The central advocator of this dispute was Athanasius, who questioned how Arius belief allowed for salvation through Jesus Christ, which is a key orthodox belief identified within the Bible. Accordingly, this essay will critically evaluate the heretical opinion of Arius and determine how this Arian understanding was discarded by Athanasius and the Nicene Creed. It is important to note that the Arian thought that will be assessed is primarily presented to us by Athanasius, which will emphasise the conflicting orthodoxy/heretical opinion that was held. In addition to this, the essay will determine how the establishment of the creed at the Council of Nicaea, which was greatly influenced by Athanasius (McGrath 2001, p,12), was a failed attempt to expel all aspects of Arian heresy but a success in uniting Christians. Firstly, the definition of heresy will be explained as to not discredit Arius Chrisitian belief: Heresy is the acceptance of basic Christian principle but interpreting it in terms that are not consistent with orthodoxy (McGrath, 2001, p.153). Arius, as a Christian, accepted the supreme authority of an eternal God but he declared God alone is anarchos and Jesus has an arche (Williams, 2001, p.97); the suggestion of Jesus created existence makes him a distinctly separate nature from God. This a direct rejection of the Council of Nicaea s declaration of Jesus having the same essence of God; therefore, this Arian belief is a heresy through refusal not misinterpretation. This heretical view is further fought against through Athanasius extensive focus on Jesus death and the implications that this had on humanity as told by the Bible

According to Tremblay and Hamet, Genomics include interactions among genes, intergenic regions, epigenetic factors and environmental factors (As cited in Munro, 2014, p. 36). The study of these genomics revealed that genomes are able to respond to environmental influences. Complicated genome environmental interactions could be presented by cancer, diabetes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States. There is a higher chance of CHD affecting men, therefore when CHD affects women there are less interventions and poorer recognition of this disease. The study Women s Experiences of Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery by Banner (2011), it explores the lived experiences of women before and after CABG surgery. This study included thirty women aged between 53 and 80 years old who were interviewed before and after their surgery. Prior to surgery, these women were reluctant to seek medical attention when they were not feeling good. Instead, they often sought the advice of friends and family members. However, talking about their condition made the women feel more anxious, fearful, insecure and more reluctant to discuss these worries with loved ones partly to preserve normal family relationships and to decrease their anxieties (p. 923). Banner states that symptoms were frequently ignored being attributed to other less serious causes, chronic conditions or to advancing age (p. 922). The patients did not seek medical attention for their symptoms until the symptoms disrupted their lives. When they finally sought medical attention their descriptions of their symptoms were very and vague therefore led to inaccurate diagnoses. After surgery these women felt they were able to return to normal
  • 40. Summary Of The Phantom Menace By Padme Amidale In 1999, The Phantom Menace was released into theaters. The beginning of the saga was brought to understand where the original trilogy s villain origin story came from and where the famous twins Luke and Leia came from. Leia stole the hearts of many in the original trilogy and it was now her mother s turn to take the spotlight. Many did not welcome her character with open arms and rejected her. She was the young naГЇve queen with a crazy fashion sense who had a crush on a nine year old boy. At a very young age, Padme was interested in politics which happens to be a male dominated career. Fourteen year old Padme Amidala was elected queen of Naboo. While many would call her naГЇve, the planet elected the young for their purity and believed age brought corruption. Age could have brought naivety, but Padme had proven herself a leader her people trusted that once her second term ended they wanted her to continue leading the planet. In episode I, Amidala deals with the struggle of the Trade Federation who wants the planet to surrender to them while they are controlled by Darth Sidious. It was a plan to gain control over the galaxy with easier access since the young can be easily influenced. Amidala refused that easy access over her planet from the Trade Federation. She is level headed to not directly take action for war but to persuade the senate for a plead of help. When the escape to Coruscant is delayed, she takes the opportunity to widen her knowledge about the planet Tatooine
  • 41. Symbolism In Pat Conroy s The Water Is Wide Pat Conroy s memoir, The Water is Wide, is about his life on Daufuskie Island, also known as Yamacraw Island in the book. Conroy spent a year teaching on the island in a little two room schoolhouse. The Yamacrawans were rural African American people that by leaving on the island had basically no knowledge of anything beyond the island. Conroy tells of all the troubles he faced while teaching on the island and all the struggles he faced with outside forces. Conroy uses the setting, the title of his book, symbolism, and different themes to express what the year he spent teaching there was like. The setting of the novel is the south, on an island just off the coast of South Carolina. The island is connected to the mainland of South Carolina by a river, and the only way to get on or off the island is by boat. Conroy uses the setting of this book to reveal just how cut off the Yamacrawans are from the real world , and how much this has affected the students he is working with. Conroy states that The twentieth century has basically ignored the presence of Yamacraw (Conroy 3), . The students have no idea what kind of world they are living in, All around the room sat human beings of various sizes and hues who were not aware that a world surrounded them, a world they would be forced to enter, and enter soon (Conroy 37) , and this worries Conroy. The title of the book is also an important part of the story. Pat Conroychose this title in reflection of the river between the
