Examples Of Planning A Vacation
How to Plane and Prepare for a Vacation
Have you ever thought about why do people go on a vacation? After the pressures of work and
study, which accompany the people in their lives, taking a vacation become necessary to get rid of
all the stress and relax. People have many reasons to go on a vacation such as: they want to take a
break of their daily routine, strength the relationship between family members, having an
adventure, and other reasons. Unfortunately, some of them struggle planning for a vacation,
especially when the family is big. The family members will find difficulty in searching for a
cheap air flight ticket, a residence with a good price that can fit the whole members of the family,
and a good spot to go for it. It is true that planning and preparing for a vacation is not easy, but it is
interesting. Planning for a vacation involves three distant steps. ... Show more content on

Head of the family the father. After determining on the destination that the family wants to go,
the father has to do some online researches to find great deals on travel and hotels. To get better
offers on airline tickets and hotels, the father has to book early before the travel season by
several months. Karen Fawcett (2009) in 7 Steps to Planning a Great Family Vacation advises
travelers to, Set a budget and have it fixed in stone. Depending on how small or how big, this will
dictate where you may and may not go. Wear your brutally realistic hat when you re using a
calculator and doing the math. Therefore, the father must calculate travel costs of food,
transportation, tours, shopping, and travel insurance. He must collect separate budget for these
things. Moreover, the father has to set aside extra money for unexpected travel costs. In addition,
the family must limit the number of bags to avoid overweight on the plane and to save

Self Improvement Of Benjamin Franklin
No gains without pains. (Franklin) This phrase reflects the American way of thought that without
pain or suffering there can never be a gain or success. It s interesting to think that such a well
known phrase, was invented by one of the most impactful figures for the development of the United
States of America. Benjamin Franklinis well known as a man of science and a major contributor to
the drafting of the Declaration of Independence and the United StatesConstitution. Towards the end
of his life, Benjamin wrote about his success and failures. This text served as a guide to self
improvement and evaluation of one s behavior. In The Autobiography, Benjamin Franklin s plan for
self improvement was most successful when using Frugality, Silence, and Humility, while Order
remained a difficulty. There is no doubt, the virtuewhich allowed Benjamin Franklin to make a
successful contribution to the Independence of the colonies from Great Britain was Frugality. In
The Autobiography, Benjamin Franklin states that frugality is to Make no expense but to do
good to others or yourself; i.e.., waste nothing. Every action and word had purpose for Franklin,
he knew that the purpose was to do good, not just for himself but for others. Franklin s efforts to
serve people and do good are clear during the Revolutionary War. To this day the ideas of Franklin
are reflected in a well know phrase, Service above Self. The phrase serves as the motto for the club,
Rotary International, which

The Medicines Compacy
The Medicines Company What is the value of Angiomax to a hospital? Both Angiomax and
Heparin are widely used as an anticoagulant in acute coronary heart treatment. Since Angiomax is
a potential substitute for Heparin, Angiomax can be of great value to a hospital. Angiomax has
three significant advantages over Heparin. First, the effects of Angiomax are more accurate and
dependable which makes the product more predictable. Second, Angiomax doesn t require a 2 3
hour wait time for results whereas Heparin does. Last but not least, Angiomax is safer for patients
that are at risk for bleeding. In all, it is effective in reducing complications or death in a hospital,
which lead to a decrease in costs. For example, if there are complications or... Show more content

Also, the company will want to educate the market and buyers. Angiomax should be seen as the
newest and best product on the market! What do you think of the Medicines Company s business
model of rescuing abandoned drugs? Just as anything, the company does face the risk of failure.
The fact that they are abandoned drugs should be a red flag as well. There is a reason and
probably multiple reasons why other companies abandoned these drugs. The list could include cost,
profit, safety, effectiveness, and much more. You have to wonder why this company thinks they
can make a difference in these abandoned drugs. Lets say Angiomax does become a success.
Does this mean the other drugs that they promote will be successful as well? Definitely not. Since
the Medicines Company doesn t have much history, they are more at risk with no accountability.
Not to mention, they don t have other drugs on the market that are or attaining FDA approval. I
don t think that the Medicines Company is ready to pursue this business model. Their focus
should remain on Angiomax. If Angiomax is a success, how much will this business model
change? If Angiomax is a success, I would expect the business model to change slightly. Their plan
with rescuing abandoned drugs could be pursues little by little. After the success of Angiomax they
will have more exposure. The company could take baby steps towards the company s next big hit

The Issue Of Teen Suicide
Everyday, I think why I m still here. Amanda Michelle Todd September 7, 2012. What if your
friend wanted to commit suicide? What s the first thing you would do? Scream? Cry? Help? Many
people wish they had helped their friend after they commit suicide. Being the victim is scary, being
the witness is scarier, and being the bystander is the scariest. Suicidehas been a problem for a very
long time. It can be caused by stress, anxiety, bullying, and mental illnesses.
Teen suicide is a huge problem because there are so many situations that can stress you out and
just make you give up, especially as a teen. Almost everyone has or will have a story at some
point in their life involving suicide. Not only are the victims affected, but the people around them.
Some people hide this because they are ashamed but once one person commits suicide in a family
it is likely someone else will.
This paper is about three things. 1. The history and background of teen suicide. 2. The short and
long term effects of teen suicide. Last but not least, 3. Solutions to teen suicide.
For the history and background of teen suicide we will talk about what causes a suicidal mindset
and what part of the brain sends suicidal signals. In the short and long term effects it will talk about
how teen suicide affects the parents emotions. In the solutions it will talk about what social media
influences the teens.

Examples Of Mirror Image In To Kill A Mockingbird
The Mirror Image During the depression, the town of Maycomb, AL is old and run down; this
mirrors the characters as they passively travel through the days. The first two chapters of Harper
Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird are very uninteresting, and do not contain much action. The first
chapter is used to introduce the town and characters. The narrator, Scout Finch, is arguing with
her older brother, Jem. They are debating who is to blame for the breaking of Jem s arm. The
debate starts by describing Simon Finch, who floated down the river and built a homestead near
the town, and describes how he is the reason they were in the town of Maycomb. This town is
where they met Dill, a small seven year old visiting his aunt for the Summer. They tell Dill the
story of Arthur Boo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people worship, kids attend school, and adults work. The heat is unbearable, adding to the
weariness of the town. The activity is quite monotonous; everyone does the same thing each day.
When it rains, the roads turn to slop, grass grows on the sidewalks, and the buildings sag. The
people are always tired because of the heat. The men go to work, and by mid day, their collars
wilt. Then, they return home, eat dinner, and go to bed. The women bathe before noon, and by
nightfall, are drifting away into the night. The days in this small, desolate town seem to drag on
into eternity, yet the day is a meager 24 hours. If the kids wanted to play they would often
reenact popular motion pictures, which they learned from Dill, because in such a small town,
there were rarely picture shows. Some of the people were too poor to afford proper clothing.
Walter Cunningham does not own a pair of shoes, and could not bring lunch to school because the
depression had hit his poor family hard. The book shows the tough times these people face. The
town of Maycomb is a small, fatigued town, and the occupants reflect this idea by drifting through
the days in a tired

The Environmental Issue Of Water Conservation
Water is essential for humanity s survival, and even though the world is largely covered by
water, only a small percentage is potable for human utilization. Approximately, on average,
120,000 gallons of water is used annually for a single family household (Galbraith). This alarming
number could be reduced dramatically for the efforts of water conservation and lowering water
bill prices for families could subsequently save money that could be used for other expenses. Thus,
conserving water would prove beneficial and advantageous to not just in Texas, but to everyone
else as well. Although environmental policies have not been as popular with Congress and the state
legislature, it is still an important issue to consider since there are only a limited amount of
resources for public use, such as water. Both the federal and state governments have enacted
policies towards the efforts of water conservation that mainly affect cities and corporations and
considered how it affects other organisms in the environment. One current environmental issue
between the U.S. federal and state governments is concerning about the efforts of water
conservation and other natural resources by passing several laws that mainly affect both cities and
companies that somewhat relate to preserving wildlife as well for the ecosystem. The reasons
initiating these legal changes are to conserve clean water for human consumption and to preserve
wildlife as well. Congress passed the Water PollutionControl Act

Theodicy And Suffering
Many of us question why we live in a universe full of sin and evil? We question if our god is
good why is our natural world filled with suffering, violence and destruction? This is where the
theodicy problem comes into play, Theodicy is an attempt to explain why a good god would have
created evil and suffering. Atheists don t believe in Godfor this matter, since evilexists they assume
God must not. I believe that we were all blessed with the ability to choose and we can still make
our own choices. What God did was he created mankind with free will, it can t be logical for a man
to remain sin free when they are making their own choices. So we can make our choices moral,
immoral, or amoral. Immoral acts result in evil, if God intervened it... Show more content on

I had to search this question because I am too wondering why good people suffer and why bad
people don t seem to. I came across an article and it basically explained that our Lord clearly
taught that his blessings should fall upon all people regardless of the evil they commit. And it
later explained that we often only witness and know of the good that happen to bad people rather
than the entire situation. We don t entirely know what the person has been dealt with. For
example, I sometimes question those who don t have money problems. I always thought to
myself they are so blessed to not have money issues and there life is probably less stressful and
they don t know what its like to struggle. What we would give right? Well I started to notice that
most people with money were miserable. They had problems in other departments such as
commitment, relationships and family. We aren t all blessed with the same things. God s
blessings apply to all people. So we need to stop questioning why bad things happen to good
people? God has a plan and Instead of questioning God s fairness or justice, we are called to trust
in His love and ultimate justice. Those who are persecuted or reviled for their faith in God in this
life are considered blessed (Matthew 5:11 12) yet the reward in eternity will be great. (CT) We are
all blessed to live through our Lord Jesus Christ, and his eternity far outweighs any situation that is

Adversity In Pay It Forward
Pay It Forward is a movie about one boys idea and determination to change the world. Eleven
year old Trevor McKinney is just now beginning the seventh grade. On the first day of school he
is introduce to his teacher Eugene Simonet. Mr. Simonet s first extra credit project that will go
on all through the school year is for the class to come up with an idea on how to change the world
and put it into an act. So Trevor comes up with the idea of Pay It Forwardwhich is the concept
where you do acts of kindness to three random strangers and they are so inspired that they do three
more acts of kindness to three more random strangers and so on and so forth. So throughout the
movie you see Trevor s struggles and magnificent accomplishments. In the 2000 movie Pay It
Forward represents a clear analysis of over coming poverty from ignorance, ageism, classism,
altruistic, discrimination, and adversity.

An example of this is in the movie throughout the entire movie the social static is Trevor. The
reason he is the social static is because he is the only constant and is the one who bring everyone

in the movie, social dynamics is a phenomenon of change in society. For example the social
dynamic of the story is the change of everyone outlook and values because of the Pay It Forward.
Another reference in the movie is to social darwinism, social darwinism is Charles Darwins
theory of when individuals or groups have achieved advantage over others as the result of genetic
or biological superiority. An example of this is the journalist, Chris Chandler. Chandler uses his so

Maria Mitchell Essay
This paper will discuss the life of Maria Mitchell and how she became the first woman
astronomer in the United States. It will tell of where she grew up. How she climbed the ranks to
achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true passion of astronomy. By describing
the events that made this courageous woman, we can see clearly how she set an example for her
gender in the Nineteenth century.
Women have always been at the forefronts of science, even though they have not always taken the
credit for it. One of the defining marks of humanity is our ability to affect and predict our
environment. Science the creation of structure for our world technology the use of structure in our

She had memorized the sky and was sure of her observation. (Gromley p.55) This was the great
discovery that her constant vigilance brought into the open, as she saw a comet of unknown origin.
It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria recorded the presumed comet s coordinates.
The next night the star moved again. This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to
Professor William Bond at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery.
Professor Bond submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal
to a person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person, Father
Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later (Mitchell p.105) than Maria
Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the prize before news of Maria s earlier
discovery arrived in Europe. After some negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for
this discovery a year later. The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet.
She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of congratulations
from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman astronomer. In 1848 the

Should Video Games Be Considered Art Summary
Should Video Games Be Considered Art? Roger Ebert strongly expresses his opinion toward the
tense debate on weather video games should be considered art. He expresses his belief by
demonstrating in his article how video games could never compare to the amazing writers and
the incredible filmmakers (Ebert). Ebert envisions art being created by one person rather than a
team of people having skilled enough abilities to produce the same masterpiece. He does not see
a similarity in objectives between video games and an art piece. Ebert explains that in games there
are, Rules, points, objectives, and an outcome (Ebert). As for art, that is something he believes one
can t win. Considering one who believes video games can not be a form of art may

The Effects Of Ozone Depletion
The ozone depletion has been well documented to negatively affect planet Earth for years. The
ozone is a thin layer of the EarthВґs atmosphere which is responsible for absorbing the sun s
harmful ultraviolet light ( What is Ozone Layer?,2017). The loss of ozone on earth will take a toll
on human health, plants and marine ecosystems, ultimately resulting in a planet that does not
support living things. Today, this manifests in climate change. It is easy for many to confuse these
two issues, although they are connected in various ways. Loss of the ozone layer is caused by
greenhouse gases such as chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs (compounds with chlorine and/or fluorine
attached to carbon), as well as , halons (similar compounds with bromine or iodine) (Jain 2015).
These chemicals can stay in the atmospherefor up to 100 years causing damage(What is Ozone
Layer?,2017). Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, contribute to global warming, which then
contributes to climate change by warming the surface and waters. These factors are resulting in a
domino effect on our environment. Climate change is classified as an abrupt increase in the Earths
temperatures typically caused by human activity (National Aeronautics Space Administration
2016). Human activities that release pollutants in our atmosphere are changing it and contributing
to global warming and ozone depletion. With all the knowledge, resources and tools invented for the
benefit of humans, one would think that these

Drifters Poem Analysis
Dawe in his poem Drifters presents the inevitable nature of change, particularly change that is
unwanted. Moreover, Dawe manifests the diverse responses individuals have when encountering
change in their lives and the transformative impact of change. These prominent themes are
manipulated through the motif of travelling, flashbacks and symbolism.
Individuals are subjected to change in their spontaneous lives. Immediately the title drifters
foreshadows the spontaneous lifestyle of the personas that will stimulate change. The sarcastic tone

Dawe presents these diverse responses through the juxtaposition of the children s age. The oldest
girl was close to tears and the youngest girl was beaming . Clearly, age differentiation manipulates
individuals responses to change. The fact the youngest girl , who could cope with change easier is
suggested by her minimal encounters with change; she is not used to her transient lifestyle.
Contrastingly, the oldest girl , who is already used to change, is reluctant and afraid to experience
more change that is unwanted.
Change will stimulate growth among individuals. The motif of time in, first of the season ,
demonstrates change will gradually occur with time. Clearly, the family s lives have been
transformed through their transient lifestyle when moving houses. The morbid tone, she won t
even ask why they re leaving this time , shows the family has conformed and transformed from
change. Indeed, progression from an excited to a miserable tone stresses an individual s perceptions
on change will alter throughout life experiences. Further, the kinaesthetic imagery, the loaded ute
bumps down the drive , emphasises the family s transformation throughout change. Here, the
metaphorical bumps is symbolic of the barriers individuals experience with change, in order to
grow.
Bruce Dawe s Drifters , presents universal concerns on the inevitability of change. In particular,
Dawe explores the growth

A Critical Concerns Surrounding The Tallit s Male...
When we walk into the sanctuary of any synagogue, the first sights we most likely see are the aron
hakodesh, the eternal lamp, and every man in the congregation wearing a tallit, the ritual prayer
shawl worn during weekday and Shabbat morning services. Now, we might also see women
wearing the tallit, too. In more recent years, women in synagogue have begun to wear the tallitas a
movement towards egalitarianism, taking religious practice into their own hands and projecting a
personal style to boot. In this paper, we will explore the critical concerns surrounding the tallit s
male dominated origins, the move by women to wear the tallit on practical and symbolic levels,
and the tallit as a method of personal expression.
The Origins of the Tallit
Based on the sea of tallitot we observe on men and women s shoulders in synagogue, we might think
that the tallit has Biblical roots. Understanding where the tallit, and the commandment to wear it,
come from, however, requires both closer analytical and physical examination. The actual
commandment is to wear tzitzit, or fringes, on the corners of our garments:
Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them throughout their generations
fringes in the corners of their garments, and that they put with the fringe of each corner a thread of
blue. (Numbers 15:38)
This passage, which also appears in the blessings of the Shema, commands the wearing of tzitzit as
a reminder to fulfill the mitzvoth and commandments in

What To Do About Ethnic Cleans Essay
WHAT TO DO ABOUT ETHNIC CLEANSING?
BACKGROUND PAPER
In 1994, unrest swept through the Maryland sized African nation of Rwanda. Thousands of Hutu
extremists launched a massive assault on the Tutsi, who traditionally make up Rwanda s upper
class, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people (Night Rider amp;#8211; most days ;). The
United States immediately responded to this slaughter by turning the other way, denying that a
problem existed until years after the genocide had ceased. In 1999, ethnic cleansing (hostility
between ethnic groups) broke out in Kosovo in a less severe form. This time, instead of being
killed, the Kosovars were driven out of their homes and neighborhoods. This time, United ... Show

This intended military escort function of the international community was averted, because of the
sudden and quite peaceful march homeward of the Rwandans before the coalition had mobilized.
Had the military escort occurred, there would have been potential for escalation of the Rwandan
problem into an international military crisis, should bloodshed of any kind have erupted during the
long march home of the refugees (Whaley). This potential for explosion of what some see as a
nation s domestic concern into military action crossing international lines is what can deadlock the
strategists, sometimes permitting ethnic cleansing to be substantially completed before a resolution
can be endorsed by all nations concerned about the matter.
Although ethnic cleansing has been present throughout history, we are only in the last century
really starting to acknowledge it as an issue that needs to be definitively dealt with on a global
scale. The incident that caused ethnic cleansing to be a major international issue was Adolph Hitler
s extreme ethnic cleansing of the Jewish, which made the rest of the world realize that if
SOMETHING was not done, the problem could spread to engulf the entire world. Especially in
recent years, with the major world powers militaries sitting, these countries are now starting to

Loretta Lynn The Pill Analysis
Oral birth control in the United States has a long history of controversy. For many years after it
was legalized for married couples it was still considered taboo to talk about. So of course, Loretta
Lynn, appropriately named Queen of Country, wrote and performed a song about it. This spunky,
out spoken, record setting country goddess saw absolutely no qualm when it came to discussing,
the pill . Although this ground breaking song on the birth controlforefront might seem revolutionary,
it was nothing new for an artist like Lynn, who characteristically wrote songs about the hushed
aspects of domestic life. Loretta Lynns song, The Pill , pushed social boundaries in the 1970 s by
encouraging married women, especially in rural areas, to take control of their lives with the use
of oral birth control. Lynn did so by informing rural women of the normalcy of oral birth control.
Loretta Lynn was born Loretta Webb on April 14, 1932, in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Lynn
grew up in a small poor Appalachian coal mining community and was the second of eight
children. Loretta s career began when she started singing in church as a child. When she was 16,
she married Oliver Lynn. The couple soon moved to Custer, Washington. During their first four
years in Washington Lynn has four children, Betty Sue, Jack Benny, Ernest Ray and Clara
Marie. Lynn was still passionate about music and began to play at local venues. By 1960, she
had released her first single, I m a Honky Tonk Girl. She moved to Nashville, where she
continued to perform and promote her music. Moving to Nashville was arguably one of Lynn s
best decisions. That is where she met one of her best friends and role models, Patsy Cline, as well as
find fame and recognition there. During her career Lynn has garnered an impressive release of
more than 160 songs, 60 albums, a total sale of 45 million records, ten Number 1 albums and
sixteen Number 1 singles on the country charts, and was the first women to win the the CMA s
Entertainer of The Year. Loretta Lynn s most popular song, The Pill , was written about a married
woman taking birth control. Today, this a common occurrence for American women. However, in
1975, there was a lot of controversy still surrounding the

How Obesity Changed America
How Obesity Has Changed America One in three Americans are at risk for more than 30 chronic
illnesses due to obesity. It is the biggest driver of healthcare, costing the country millions of
dollars each year. Poor eating habits are the main cause of this disease and could all be changed
beginning with the youth of the nation. 20 million children under the age of five are now
considered overweight or obese in America (Dyer). What was once a rare disease, has now
become an epidemic. Few health topics have initiated as much debate and controversy as obesity
has within the past 15 years. The hope of new treatments progresses as obesity becomes the norm

She hasn t made great strides, but the baby steps she has taken could build up to something great.
Michelle Obama started the school lunch regulations during her time as First Lady. One meal a
day that children are eating slightly healthy most likely does not have the greatest effect on their
weight, but rather puts the responsibility on the parents to ensure their children are receiving the
nutrients necessary to develop a healthy weight ( Bad ). Another main problem relating obesity
and eating habits is being malnourished. Malnourished does mean to lack nutrients but does not
necessarily mean to not receive plenty of food. This could mean they are receiving the correct
amount of food, yet the essential vitamins needed for a heathy weight are not fulfilled. There are
people suffering in our country from lack of food and malnutrition when we have people in our
own nation who consume more food than necessary causing this dreadful disease. Families who
receive a low income are more prone to being obese due to healthy foods at a greater price than
those containing high amounts of sugar and fat. Poor eating behaviors are a hard issue to turn
around. After developing these behaviors, it can be quite difficult to lose weight and prevent
becoming obese (Veit). To make this change, efforts from local and national government, nonprofit

External Stability
External Stability
External stability is the government objective that seeks to achieve current account sustainability, a
continued capacity to service foreign liabilities, and a foreign exchange rate; all of which are
necessary to facilitate and encourage economic transactions between Australia and the rest of the
world.
External stability is the aim of government policy that seeks to promote stability and sustainability
in Australia s external sector so that Australia can service its foreign liabilities in the medium to
long run and avoid currency volatility. There are three main components to external stability: 1. A
sustainable current account deficit (CAD) 2. A serviceable level of foreign liabilities 3. A stable...

The primary measure of the sustainability of a country s foreign debt is the debt servicing ratio,
while the primary measure of foreign equity sustainability is the equity servicing ratio. These ratios
indicate the proportion of export revenue that must be spent on interest payments for foreign debt
(or dividend payment on foreign equities).
In the long term, extensive growth of Australia s foreign debt can lead to a sustainability problem,
as the costs of servicing current debt can create difficulty when servicing future debts. If foreign
debt rises faster than GDP, interest repayments and other servicing costs on this debt will begin to
take a proportionately larger part of GDP, constraining economic growth and jeopardising living
standards. If prolonged, this may lead to a debt trap scenario.
Australia s Exchange Rate
Because Australia has a floating exchange rate, the currency s value is left to be determined by the
market forces of international demand and supply. There is no specific measure of exchange rate
volatility. Economists instead refer to movements in Australia s bilateral exchange rate or
movements in Australia s TWI to demonstrate exchange rate volatility. Since floating in 1983,
Australia s exchange rate has been remarkably volatile. This has been seen especially in the past
six to seven years, where the Australian dollar has appreciated substantially against the US dollar,
from record lows in August 2001 of US48 cents

Hyperbole
In Judy Brady s I Want A Wife essay, love is satirized as more of an arrangement rather than
genuine affection. Love is seen as selfish, rude, and limiting. Brady uses hyperbole to exaggerate
the position of what a stereotypical male ego (in the 1970s) thinks a wife should be and the
unfairness of a wifes role. Selfish diction is used to emphasize the husbands chauvinistic ideas of
what a wife should be like: I want a wife who will not bother me with rambling complaints about
a wife s duties. But I want a wife who will listen to me when I feel the need to explain... Brady s
purpose is to help women realize the inequalities in genderroles and encourage them to push for
more equal standards. Brady formats her essay by building rapport to grasp her audience s attention

Love is described as patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast...it does not dishonor
others, it is not self seeking. In I Want A Wife, love is seen as the opposite of how it is presented
in 1 Corinthians 13. The original intended audience for 1 Corinthians 13 were the Corinthians.
The author uses paralipsis to show the Corinthians that their conduct had, in many respects, been
a contrast to the behavior of love shown in 1 Corinthians 13. Nowadays, 1 Corinthians 13 is
well known among Christians and non Christians. Love is patient, love is kind can be seen in
many song lyrics and wedding vows. It is also taught in church to encourage Christians to live
with a loving heart. 1 Corinthians 13 is one of the most well known bible verses nowadays
because of rhetorical devices that make it memorable. For example, anaphora is applied in the
second and third paragraphs of the chapter: Love is patient, love is kind..love does not delight in
evil...love never fails. Love is talked about in a positive connotation in 1 Corinthians 13; whereas
in I Want A Wife, love is seen as

A Case Against Adoption
As a result of the Supreme Courts ruling the U.S. has been split into two sides, those for abortion
and those against. The Pro Choice campaign has many key arguments as to why it should be legal.
The most popular is that it is the best option when it comes to rape or incest. The reasoning behind
this is that the psychological trauma of an abortionis lees than of the woman gives birth to the child.
The woman could hate the child or project their negative emotions on the child. Thus causing the
child to grow up with the feelings of being unloved. the next argument is that adoption is not an
alternative to abortion. This is because the women still has to make the decision of whether or not
give the child up for adoption. Research has shown that

any central administration or stable infrastructure such as base. While nodes are moving in the
network they interchange the information to each other and may continue to move here and there

therefore they are free to move, and hence the topology of such network changes expeditiously. In
the mobile Adhoc system, a number of influences such as physical obstacles movement, unwanted

Tim Tebow has overcome many challenges in his life, he won the national championship in

Depictions of Mark Zuckerburg in The Social Network
In the film The Social Network, directed by David Fincher, the character Mark Zuckerberg is
depicted as an arrogant, egocentric person who will lie and harm the people around him to get
to where he wants. Zuckerberg s ex girlfriend Erica Albright brakes up with him and as a result
of his emotions of that night, he creates a website that becomes very popular within hours of
being up, and ultimately crashes the schools connection. The name Zuckerberg then becomes
very popular, and the Winklevoss twins reach out to him for help to build a new innovating
social networking website. This is the beginning of a giant chain reaction that each decision
leads to another bigger conflict. Mark Zuckerbergs arrogance is seen throughout the entire film,
but his arrogance is predominantly seen in the opening scene, when Zuckerberg is with Erica
Albright, at a bar, and not listening to a word of what she is saying. He says how do you
distinguish yourself in a population of people who all got 1600 on their SAT s? to later
acknowledge he was talking about himself (Fincher, 2010). This is the opening scene and we
already know a few things about the character character: he is very smart, he knows it, and he
likes to show it off. As a result of his arrogance, Zuckerberg loses his girlfriend. It might seem as
if Mark Zuckerberg is a robot, but he can understand emotions. It s just that they do not rank as high
in his mind as they do in others. When Zuckerberg drunkenly wrote the blog post

Application Essay To Phi Theta Kappa
Attending the upcoming international conference will help me grow, both culturally and

for me to expand my world, and learn more about Phi Theta Kappa.
I believe that learning from this trip will help me to better serve my chapter and my school. This
experience will help me learn more about Phi Theta Kappa, and what I can do to improve my
chapter. I have lived in my own little bubble for far to long, I need this chance to spread myself
out, and really learn about other people and places. This experience would be very rewarding for
me, and help me to expand my horizons.
I would love this opportunity to be involved with Phi Theta Kappa This will be an excellent way
for me to meet other Phi Theta Kappa members. I can get to know more people in similar

The Death Of A Fetus
Women are faced with a myriad of choices on a daily basis. Whether they are superficial, like
how she dresses or where she goes out to dinner, and others can be more life altering, like career
she pursues and the relationships she chooses to have. One choice that women should be able to
make for herself is what she chooses to do with her reproductive organs. A woman should be able
to choose for herself whether or not she will have an abortion, yet there are so many other people
who think they know better, whether that be government or the overly vocal Pro Life protestors
sticking their nose in someone else s privates.
Abortion, by definition, is the intended termination of a pregnancy that results in the death of a
fetus or embryo. This deliberate medical procedure can be done in two distinctive ways, mainly
hinging on how long the woman has been pregnant. A medical abortion is one that is done
through prescription medications while being closely monitored by a medical professional.
According to Planned Parenthood, Medical abortion, or the abortion pill, can occur up to 9
weeks into a pregnancy, and is performed over a two to three day period. A woman would be
given a hormone blocker called Mifepristone in order to block progesterone, a hormone that vital
for pregnancy during the first trimester. A day or so after that, a woman would be given the drug
Misoprostol, which is used to shut down the uterus to stop the pregnancy, which results in the

Bacterial vaginosis regard as a polymicrobial syndrome characterized and induced by an imbalance
of the ordinary vaginal microflora which include a shift in the composition of the vaginal

Bacterial vaginosis, historically known as nonspecific vaginitis , has undergone several name

Bacterial vaginosis is also regard the most common infection for which women seek medical

Generally, bacterial vaginosis is characterized by a shift in the normal microbiome of the vagina
from the predominant Lactobacillus species to an overgrowth of a mixed community dominated by
Gardnerella vaginalis and anaerobic bacterial species.(teenus, 2015)
Any change in the resident flora including reduction of lactobacilli allows for different anaerobic
bacteria to multiply. (Ling et al., 2010; Redondo et al., 1990) . Nevertheless the process of
replacement the normal lactobacilli flora by opportunistic pathogens in vaginal ecosystem and the
role of intrinsic host factors still remains unclear, requiring more research and studies to be

Lack Of Social Anxiety
Social anxiety should be classified as a social disorder instead of a mental disorder because
certain situations placed on an individual with social anxiety makes the person feel trapped and
unable to socialize with peers. It would let people in schools have a better insight of their
students with this disorder. If it is classified as a social disorder, people will get a better
understanding, and have less stigma in the public eye, as well as more support in schools and
workplaces. Social anxietyis a disorder that is marked by the individual s fearof interpersonal

throws multiple people with social anxiety off balance of oxygen leading to an extreme amount

anxiety is a very strong topic to talk about today so it should be taken seriously and be classified
as a social disorder and not a mental disorder because it will make the individual feel as if there
is something wrong with them when there isn t anything wrong it s just the way the person
thinks. As well as having school programs and other treatments in workplaces for the person will
make the person not feel less of themselves and hopefully there will be a better and more efficient
cure for them in which they deserve, because they deserve to be treated equal and not like an
outsider who can t help themselves. So treatment plus the classification should be changed in order
not too have public stigma in society s eyes of the so called Mental disorder . There should be a
conclusion to it all with having the classification rethought as well as treatments should be looked

The Case Of Metallica V Napster
Copyright Stance With over three billion people in the world utilizing the internet there is great
danger for copyright infringement to occur (Internet Live Stats). Copyright law protects the creator
of an original piece of work exclusive rights to the work. Many people who use the internet are
sharing files that do not belong to them and are guilty of copyrightinfringement. Copyright law
needs to be tightened up in the digital space to protect the creator of their unique work. In the
case of Metallica v Napster (2000), Metallica filed suit against Napster for infringing upon their
ownership of their unique music. The suit claims that Napster devised and distributed software
whose sole purpose is to permit Napster to profit by abetting and encouraging piracy (Doan, 2000).
The music was original and copyrighted by Metallica. The Napster song downloads were being
done without their consent or royalties paid. The court ruled in favor of Metallica and eventaully
shutting down Napster for Copyright infringement. With technology so readily available there are
many people and companies who have participated in similar illegal activities. The original
copyright law did not take into consideration the digital area. By implementing Digital Millennium
Copyright Act(DMCA) it has tightened up the protection of things online and in the digital arena.
The DMCA makes it illegal to circumvent digital rights management technology or to import, offer

A Teacher s Assistant For An Afterschool Program Essay
As a teacher s assistant for an afterschool program called Good Grades Academy, I decided to the
vocabulary as an extension of the classroom teacher s comprehension unit. My vocabulary game
was based on a lesson involving literary elements for fifth grade students. I worked with a fifth
grade student named Bartek who is eleven years old. His strengths lie in his ability to figure out
challenging math problems, but he struggles in the areas of reading and comprehension. Bartek
decoding skills are on par with his grade level, but his comprehension skills are representative of a
third or fourth grade level. He cannot recall important information in the text and his writing
responses are unrelated to the text. In addition, Bartek often lacks motivation and has difficulty
completing his work. He cannot sit still and disturbs the other students working in the classroom.
When asked to complete work related tasks he states that it is too difficult and is inattentive when
receiving instruction. I decided to play the vocabulary game with him because it would be a fun and
interactive way to help him learn words. After the students in the afterschool program finish
assigned work they are allotted time for fun activities, so I used this opportunity to implement the
vocabulary game. The purpose of my game was to clarify literary elements that Bartek was working
on understanding. As stated in the Core manual Knowing about story structure provides a

The Six Principles For Effective Use Of Technology In The...
It is usual for teachers to use technology in classrooms today. Technology is a great tool to use for
teachers to teach and for students to learn. However, that does not mean technology is always
being used appropriately. By using technology, the way we choose problems and how we
present them change (Goldenberg, 2000). In Goldenberg s article, he discusses the six principles
for effective use of technology in the classroom. These principles are, the genre principle, the
purpose principle, the answer vs. analysis principle, the who does the thinking principle, the
change content carefully principle, and the fluent tool use principle. In order to learn how
technology is used in classrooms, I observed in a 2nd grade ICT classroom at a public school in
Brooklyn. I observed the same teachers teach their students math and science using technology.
While I observed math, the teacher would start her lessons by introducing the topic by playing a
Brain Pop Jr. video. During the Brain Pop Jr. video, the characters would ask higher order critically
thinking questions. The teacher did not pause the video during when the questions were asked. The
students hand would go up and she would tell them to put their hands down. The characters in the
video would answer the questiona second later. To improve this lesson, I would suggest stopping
the video when the questions are being asked. This would allow the teacher to check for the
students understanding of the material and allow for

The Correlation of Starbucks Organizational Culture to Management s Competency
In order to establish the correlation between Starbucks organizational culture and its management s
competency, it is imperative to fully comprehend what is meant by a key management competency
and precisely what it may entail. Through studying management and its characteristics as defined

management competencies that are usually identified as core competencies. Those management
skills are conceptual, interpersonal, technical and political (Robbins, DeCenzo, Coulter, 2015, p.

and make a clear diagnosis of a situation, have the ability to professionally work well with others,
have a great depth of knowledge and expertise in reference to their specific job area and also have
the skillset to establish and foster relationships essential for professional growth, internally and

Abstract
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that can present in many different ways. Most often, symptoms
display in a negative or positive manner. While medications are on the market to mitigate
symptoms, the optimal treatment method couples both pharmaceutical and psychiatric
rehabilitation. The Patient Outcomes Research Team, commonly called PORT, has issued treatment
recommendations for Schizophrenia. The first publication, issued in 1998, has offered compiled

The Treatment Prospects for Schizophrenia
In the DSM 5, Schizophrenia is termed as having both positive and negative symptoms. Positive
symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, or disorganized speech (American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). Negative symptoms, on the other hand, are anhedonia and depression.
Anhedonia is the inability to gain pleasure from seemingly pleasurable experiences. The threshold
for DSM 5 indicates that a person must show two or more symptoms to be considered
Schizophrenic. The patient must display symptoms for a minimum of six months. A publication by

abortion was illegal in the United Statesof America. It was during the 1850s, that the heads of the

It leaves the risk or either looking for an illegal abortion or having to raise a child with
difficulties surrounding you. Women denied abortions are more likely to go on welfare
assistance, starting or continuing the cycle of poverty. Research revealed that one of the main
reasons women seek out for abortions in the first place was for monetary reasons. Not every
woman like Sarah has the means to travel to a place to get a legal abortion and not everyone can
afford an abortion. Most women seeking are unemployed, on public assistance, or making below
the poverty line (Sankin, 2012). Having this rejection of an abortion would leave women unable
to have an abortion with the choice of either adoption, done by eleven percent of women, raising
another child digging deeper into debt, or having to rely on the government for more monetary
assistance. Why would the government deny someone the right to have an abortion if not having
the child would save America the extra of not having to take care of another? Not regarding the
one who wants to keep his or her pregnancy in the first place, why force a woman to raise a child
she does not want? Unless the government feels that if they are providing welfare, it gives them a

Medicines Co Marketing

and James Wang
Section 4, Group 10
Medicines Company s drug, Angiomax, outperforms Heparin, but incurs significantly higher costs
to produce, making the drug difficult to attractively price. This difficulty in pricing stems from a
poor positioning strategy for Angiomax which does not maximize the perceived value (PV) that the
drug provides to its key customer segments. Therefore, Medicines Co., must develop a positioning
strategy that maximizes the perceived value of Angiomax. Medicines Co. must first determine the
critical characteristics its key customer segments (doctors, hospital administrators, and pharmacists)
value in an anticoagulant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
to price Angiomax between $139 and $391. We recommend a halfway price of $265. This
incentivizes doctors and, indirectly, hospital administrators to purchase the drug since this price is
lower than the PV created by this positioning strategy.
Implementing this solution requires additional considerations. First, Medicines Co. needs to
thoroughly train its representatives on the cost savings and risks of complication statistics that
show the significant effectiveness of Angiomax over Heparin for high risk patients. This is critical

The Role Of Nationalism In Macbeth By William Shakespeare
Throughout the course of history, nationalism has been a defining characteristic of many groups of
people. We see that in our current day, nationalism is a factor that determines the fate of
communities and countries. One classic textbook case of nationalism comes from the English
during the period of unification between England and Scotland. During this time period, we saw
domestic tensions rise between English and Scottish people. When we look at works such as
Macbeth, which was written by the Englishman William Shakespeare, further promoted an image of
Scottish people being barbaric and power hungry, whereas the English were seen as benevolent and
pure. By integrating this image into his story, Shakespeare allowed fellow English citizens to feel
superior, which continued their nationalist sentiments. Ultimately, Shakespeare uses nationalist
beliefs brought on by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1568, Mary, Queen of Scots was to flee to England from Scotland after her imprisonment in
Scotland after a rebellion against her rule. The rebellion was sparked after she had been accused of
plotting the murder of her husband. After arriving in England, she was imprisoned as she was seen
as a threat to the monarch at the time, Queen Elizabeth the First. As her imprisonment lasted on, the
current of nationalism grew in England (Warnicke, 168). The people of England believed the
crimes that Mary had been accused of. They also believed that Mary was a treacherous women who
wanted to usurp the throne of England. Ultimately, Mary was sentenced to death in 1587 after
being convicted of plotting to assassinate the Queen of England. This conviction, and the long
imprisonment, cemented the views of the English and they saw Scottish people as treacherous
individuals because their queen was (Warnicke,

Ethos Of Apollo 11
In 1969, the Apollo 11 launch happened and became something rightfully important to the
United States. It was the talk of every news stations and newspapers. These two men, Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had risked their lives to do something the whole world had not done
before. They became the first men to walk the moon and this became something historical. After
walking the moon, they placed the American flag on it too, and to this day it is still there. With
all the newspapers talking about this, one that caught people s eyes was the Man Takes First
Steps on The Moon. The audience was the people who were concerned about the first man
landing on outer space. This was something abnormal at the time and nobody really had a clue
how a human body can manage this. Also, this event was used to see the improvement of human
success and what they have been capable of doing. Regarding space, it wasn t something that
was really used, it was more like an illusion and seemed so close but far away at the same time.
This text used ethos, and logos to support information about the moon s successful landing and
provide it for the audience. For logos, the fact that a well known newspaper publisher such as the
Times wrote about it shows that it is a reliable source. Also that fact that the story was well written
and full of facts to make the audience believe it more. With pathos, the kind of emotion, it was
giving the audience was more about happiness and being proud of the US for their

Sociocultural Theory Of Piaget
As a nursing student, I am looking to start a career in pediatric nursing or work in the neonatal
intensive care unit (NICU), where I am working with premature babies. Working with children can
be challenging, not only do I need to care for their treatment as well as psychical well being, I also
need to care for their mental development. That is where developmental psychologycomes into
place, two most influenced developmental theory Piagetian theory Sociocultural theory, will help
me understand more about how children develop so that I can care for them accordingly.
Piaget s fundamental assumption is on how children can actively shape their own development,
they are mentally active since their birth. Piaget hypothesized four stages of development, they are
sensorimotor stage; preoperational stage; concrete stage and formal operational stage. An
understanding of this developmental theory can be beneficial to nurses in assessing which stage of
development the child has reached, to plan the correct level of stimulation. Since in the hospital
setting, the child s resources are limited. We need more stimulation for the child s development. In a
hospital, children are all placed in the same floor with similar surroundings disregard they are in
different developmental stages. For example, children in the preoperational stage need more verbal
stimulation since they are learning to express their experience through language mental imagery
and symbiotic thoughts; however, children

Automatic Active phase selector
Abstract:
Phase absence is a very common and severe problem in any industry, home or office. Many times
one or two phases may not be live in three phase supply. Because of this, many times, some
electrical appliances will be on in one room and OFF in another room. This creates a big
disturbance to our routine work.
This project is designed to check the availability of any live phase, and the load will be connected
to the particular live phase only. Even a single phase is available, and then also, the load will be in
ON condition.
The aim of this project is to construct a single phasing monitor and prevention system using 8bit
microcontroller. Anti single phasing relays or single phasing preventer are required for critical
loads and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Life Lessons Learned
What s a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one
lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that
Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it
isn t possible. I can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that
discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will
know that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will
fail, and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this,
and you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Biblehas taught
me many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the
LORD S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a
random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided
to take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of
the day. It was a little bit after 10 o clock, and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself
sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west side of the field. I was having a bad day, being
told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and opened my Bible to a random place and
started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The warm May air hugged me like a
comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was heavy in my my hands, the
design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket and sweatpants against
my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling through my ears.
The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing only the
words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my legs
have fallen asleep.
Have you ever gone to summer camp? Well, if you haven t, I would suggest it. It is a few in a

Identifying Themes In All Fall Down By Ally Carter
All Fall Down Book Report The novel, All Fall Down by Ally Carter, contains many differing
themes. Although, the one that s the most significant is: don t give up on what you believe in.
The author portrays this theme throughout the novel by telling how Grace finds out what really
happened to her mother. First off, Ally Carter conveys the theme, don t give up on what you
believe in, through telling Grace s journey to find out what happened to her mother when Grace
was so little. Because I went crazy, I fill in. It s ok Grandpa. You can say it (Carter 26). Grace
says this to her grandfather after he tells her why he hadn t come to see her after her mother s
death. Grace s natural reaction to him saying, that it was because she needed... Show more content

I m standing on the street. I see the man through the window of my mother s shop, his tall frame
and broad shoulders, the dark brown leather jacket that he wears (Carter 216). This is one of
Graces many flash backs in the novel. This flashback comes to her after her and her new found
friends, and an old friend, break into Dominic Novak s house. Dominic is the scared man Grace
believes murdered her mother. After Dominic arrives home early while the group of friends is
still there, they are forced to hide. Grace jumps into the closet to hide, and is ironically greeted
by a brown leather jacket causing Grace to remember what she saw the man wearing the day her
mother was murdered. The cuff is stiff in one place and i finger it, know instantly that its dried
blood. My mother s blood is on my hands (Carter 216). After Grace examines the jacket, she
finds dried blood and knows then that it s her mothers and is now even more positive than she
was before that Dominic had killed her mother. This helps convey the theme because it shows how
Grace didn t give up and even broke national security rules to prove she was right about her mother

The Silhouette Of A Human
The silhouette of a human is simple to identify. It is the anonymity of darkness that envelops the
interior of the silhouette that provokes fear, and most of all, concealment. Within the brush outside
of the Jones family mansion was just that, a silhouette. A frightful silhouette, resembling death in an
ominous manner. Edward was geared up with his weapons and apparel, and just awaiting an
opening within the mansion. There were always a few securityguards posted up around the sides of
the large residence, and there were an excessive amount posted in the front and back of the
mansion. Edward was staring intently at the guards, patiently waiting for one of them to slip up.
Fortunately for him, the guardupon the balcony did just that.... Show more content on

Contemplative Importance
The Importance of Contemplative Practices in an Academic Environment (pt. 1)
Contemplative practices can take several forms, including meditation, prayers, and certain physical
exercises such as yoga. Before taking Education in the USA, I had spent very little time
participating in these practices except for the occasional yoga session my former tennis coach
would instruct me to attend. However, these were cases of me superficially participating in that
practice. Since participating in our Wednesday discussions which include a 5 to 10 minute period of
meditation, the what s present/what are we experiencing? exercises, and occasionally, the
placement of different objects and words in the center of the room I have become increasingly
aware of the importance of these practices in relation to both the material we are covering in
lectures as well as our individual beings. In my opinion, the respective purposes of these different
contemplative practices have been to cultivate a sense of mental calmness while taking a break
from our busy lives, identify the importance of fully embracing the present moment, and expose us
to different viewpoints and reactions regarding certain topics, ultimately forcing us to think
critically and respond constructively to them. The meditation portion of our Wednesday discussions
allows us to take a step away from the rigorous classwork and constant worrying about due dates by
instead focusing solely on our breathing. Since arriving at

The Coexistence of the Media and the Government Essay...
The Coexistence of the Media and the Government
The American media system is spinning out of control in a hyper commercialized frenzy. Fewer
than ten transnational media conglomerates dominate much of our media; fewer than two dozen
account for the overwhelming majority of our newspapers, magazines, films, television, radio, and
books. With every aspect of our media culture now fair game for commercial exploitation, we can
look forward to the full scale commercialization of sports, arts, and education, the disappearance of
notions of public service from public discourse, and the degeneration of journalism, political
coverage, and children s programming under commercial pressure. This concentration of media
power and attendant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Objecting to news coverage, they say, is merely blaming the messenger ; the press claims no
responsibility for the world that it displays.
Journalists and reporters abuse the claim to their first amendment rights, the first instinct of many
journalists is to cry First Amendment! Which is like the military s reflexive use of national
security to rebut any criticism of how it does its work. (Fallows 184). With the first amendment
protecting the media from any criticisms, they have no conscience in what the show or say. The
media is no better than any other sitcom on TV. They do what they have to do for an audience.
Fallows hypothesis that contemporary commercial journalism is essentially a mix of crime stories,
celebrity profiles, consumer news pitched at the upper middle class, and warmed over press
releases is completely and utterly plausible. Everyone knows that big time journalists have become
powerful and prominent. We see them shouting at presidents during White House press
conferences. We hear them offering instant thumbs up/thumbs down verdicts a few seconds after a
politician completes a speech. We know that they swarm from one hot news event to the next from
a press conference by Gennifer Flowers, to a riot site in Los Angeles, to congressional hearings on a
Supreme Court nominee, to the arraignment of Tonya Harding.

  • 3. Self Improvement Of Benjamin Franklin No gains without pains. (Franklin) This phrase reflects the American way of thought that without pain or suffering there can never be a gain or success. It s interesting to think that such a well known phrase, was invented by one of the most impactful figures for the development of the United States of America. Benjamin Franklinis well known as a man of science and a major contributor to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence and the United StatesConstitution. Towards the end of his life, Benjamin wrote about his success and failures. This text served as a guide to self improvement and evaluation of one s behavior. In The Autobiography, Benjamin Franklin s plan for self improvement was most successful when using Frugality, Silence, and Humility, while Order remained a difficulty. There is no doubt, the virtuewhich allowed Benjamin Franklin to make a successful contribution to the Independence of the colonies from Great Britain was Frugality. In The Autobiography, Benjamin Franklin states that frugality is to Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e.., waste nothing. Every action and word had purpose for Franklin, he knew that the purpose was to do good, not just for himself but for others. Franklin s efforts to serve people and do good are clear during the Revolutionary War. To this day the ideas of Franklin are reflected in a well know phrase, Service above Self. • 4. The Medicines Compacy The Medicines Company What is the value of Angiomax to a hospital? Both Angiomax and Heparin are widely used as an anticoagulant in acute coronary heart treatment. Since Angiomax is a potential substitute for Heparin, Angiomax can be of great value to a hospital. Angiomax has three significant advantages over Heparin. First, the effects of Angiomax are more accurate and dependable which makes the product more predictable. Second, Angiomax doesn t require a 2 3 hour wait time for results whereas Heparin does. Last but not least, Angiomax is safer for patients that are at risk for bleeding. In all, it is effective in reducing complications or death in a hospital, which lead to a decrease in costs. Just as anything, the company does face the risk of failure. The fact that they are abandoned drugs should be a red flag as well. There is a reason and probably multiple reasons why other companies abandoned these drugs. The list could include cost, profit, safety, effectiveness, and much more. You have to wonder why this company thinks they can make a difference in these abandoned drugs. Lets say Angiomax does become a success. Does this mean the other drugs that they promote will be successful as well? Definitely not. Since the Medicines Company doesn t have much history, they are more at risk with no accountability. Not to mention, they don t have other drugs on the market that are or attaining FDA approval. I don t think that the Medicines Company is ready to pursue this business model. Their focus should remain on Angiomax. If Angiomax is a success, how much will this business model change? If Angiomax is a success, I would expect the business model to change slightly. • 5. The Issue Of Teen Suicide Everyday, I think why I m still here. Amanda Michelle Todd September 7, 2012. What if your friend wanted to commit suicide? What s the first thing you would do? Scream? Cry? Help? Many people wish they had helped their friend after they commit suicide. Being the victim is scary, being the witness is scarier, and being the bystander is the scariest. Suicidehas been a problem for a very long time. It can be caused by stress, anxiety, bullying, and mental illnesses. Teen suicide is a huge problem because there are so many situations that can stress you out and just make you give up, especially as a teen. Almost everyone has or will have a story at some point in their life involving suicide. Not only are the victims affected, but the people around them. Some people hide this because they are ashamed but once one person commits suicide in a family it is likely someone else will. This paper is about three things. 1. The history and background of teen suicide. 2. The short and long term effects of teen suicide. Last but not least, 3. Solutions to teen suicide. For the history and background of teen suicide we will talk about what causes a suicidal mindset and what part of the brain sends suicidal signals. In the short and long term effects it will talk about how teen suicide affects the parents emotions. In the solutions it will talk about what social media influences the teens. Examples Of Mirror Image In To Kill A Mockingbird The Mirror Image During the depression, the town of Maycomb, AL is old and run down; this mirrors the characters as they passively travel through the days. The first two chapters of Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird are very uninteresting, and do not contain much action. The first chapter is used to introduce the town and characters. The narrator, Scout Finch, is arguing with her older brother, Jem. They are debating who is to blame for the breaking of Jem s arm. The debate starts by describing Simon Finch, who floated down the river and built a homestead near the town, and describes how he is the reason they were in the town of Maycomb. This town is where they met Dill, a small seven year old visiting his aunt for the Summer. They tell Dill the story of Arthur Boo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people worship, kids attend school, and adults work. The heat is unbearable, adding to the weariness of the town. The activity is quite monotonous; everyone does the same thing each day. When it rains, the roads turn to slop, grass grows on the sidewalks, and the buildings sag. The people are always tired because of the heat. The men go to work, and by mid day, their collars wilt. Then, they return home, eat dinner, and go to bed. The women bathe before noon, and by nightfall, are drifting away into the night. The days in this small, desolate town seem to drag on into eternity, yet the day is a meager 24 hours. If the kids wanted to play they would often reenact popular motion pictures, which they learned from Dill, because in such a small town, there were rarely picture shows. Some of the people were too poor to afford proper clothing. Walter Cunningham does not own a pair of shoes, and could not bring lunch to school because the depression had hit his poor family hard. The book shows the tough times these people face. The town of Maycomb is a small, fatigued town, and the occupants reflect this idea by drifting through the days in a tired ... • 7. The Environmental Issue Of Water Conservation Water is essential for humanity s survival, and even though the world is largely covered by water, only a small percentage is potable for human utilization. Approximately, on average, 120,000 gallons of water is used annually for a single family household (Galbraith). This alarming number could be reduced dramatically for the efforts of water conservation and lowering water bill prices for families could subsequently save money that could be used for other expenses. Thus, conserving water would prove beneficial and advantageous to not just in Texas, but to everyone else as well. Although environmental policies have not been as popular with Congress and the state legislature, it is still an important issue to consider since there are only a limited amount of resources for public use, such as water. Both the federal and state governments have enacted policies towards the efforts of water conservation that mainly affect cities and corporations and considered how it affects other organisms in the environment. One current environmental issue between the U.S. federal and state governments is concerning about the efforts of water conservation and other natural resources by passing several laws that mainly affect both cities and companies that somewhat relate to preserving wildlife as well for the ecosystem. The reasons initiating these legal changes are to conserve clean water for human consumption and to preserve wildlife as well. Congress passed the Water PollutionControl Act ... We question if our god is good why is our natural world filled with suffering, violence and destruction? This is where the theodicy problem comes into play, Theodicy is an attempt to explain why a good god would have created evil and suffering. Atheists don t believe in Godfor this matter, since evilexists they assume God must not. I believe that we were all blessed with the ability to choose and we can still make our own choices. What God did was he created mankind with free will, it can t be logical for a man to remain sin free when they are making their own choices. So we can make our choices moral, immoral, or amoral. Immoral acts result in evil, if God intervened it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had to search this question because I am too wondering why good people suffer and why bad people don t seem to. I came across an article and it basically explained that our Lord clearly taught that his blessings should fall upon all people regardless of the evil they commit. And it later explained that we often only witness and know of the good that happen to bad people rather than the entire situation. We don t entirely know what the person has been dealt with. For example, I sometimes question those who don t have money problems. I always thought to myself they are so blessed to not have money issues and there life is probably less stressful and they don t know what its like to struggle. What we would give right? Well I started to notice that most people with money were miserable. They had problems in other departments such as commitment, relationships and family. We aren t all blessed with the same things. God s blessings apply to all people. So we need to stop questioning why bad things happen to good people? God has a plan and Instead of questioning God s fairness or justice, we are called to trust in His love and ultimate justice. Those who are persecuted or reviled for their faith in God in this life are considered blessed (Matthew 5:11 12) yet the reward in eternity will be great. He expresses his belief by demonstrating in his article how video games could never compare to the amazing writers and the incredible filmmakers (Ebert). Ebert envisions art being created by one person rather than a team of people having skilled enough abilities to produce the same masterpiece. He does not see a similarity in objectives between video games and an art piece. Ebert explains that in games there are, Rules, points, objectives, and an outcome (Ebert). • 12. The Effects Of Ozone Depletion The ozone depletion has been well documented to negatively affect planet Earth for years. The ozone is a thin layer of the EarthВґs atmosphere which is responsible for absorbing the sun s harmful ultraviolet light ( What is Ozone Layer?,2017). The loss of ozone on earth will take a toll on human health, plants and marine ecosystems, ultimately resulting in a planet that does not support living things. Today, this manifests in climate change. It is easy for many to confuse these two issues, although they are connected in various ways. Loss of the ozone layer is caused by greenhouse gases such as chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs (compounds with chlorine and/or fluorine attached to carbon), as well as , halons (similar compounds with bromine or iodine) (Jain 2015). These chemicals can stay in the atmospherefor up to 100 years causing damage(What is Ozone Layer?,2017). Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, contribute to global warming, which then contributes to climate change by warming the surface and waters. These factors are resulting in a domino effect on our environment. Climate change is classified as an abrupt increase in the Earths temperatures typically caused by human activity (National Aeronautics Space Administration 2016). Human activities that release pollutants in our atmosphere are changing it and contributing to global warming and ozone depletion. Moreover, Dawe manifests the diverse responses individuals have when encountering change in their lives and the transformative impact of change. These prominent themes are manipulated through the motif of travelling, flashbacks and symbolism. Individuals are subjected to change in their spontaneous lives. Immediately the title drifters foreshadows the spontaneous lifestyle of the personas that will stimulate change. Dawe presents these diverse responses through the juxtaposition of the children s age. The oldest girl was close to tears and the youngest girl was beaming . Clearly, age differentiation manipulates individuals responses to change. The fact the youngest girl , who could cope with change easier is suggested by her minimal encounters with change; she is not used to her transient lifestyle. Contrastingly, the oldest girl , who is already used to change, is reluctant and afraid to experience more change that is unwanted. Change will stimulate growth among individuals. The motif of time in, first of the season , demonstrates change will gradually occur with time. Clearly, the family s lives have been transformed through their transient lifestyle when moving houses. The morbid tone, she won t even ask why they re leaving this time , shows the family has conformed and transformed from change. Indeed, progression from an excited to a miserable tone stresses an individual s perceptions on change will alter throughout life experiences. Further, the kinaesthetic imagery, the loaded ute bumps down the drive , emphasises the family s transformation throughout change. • 15. A Critical Concerns Surrounding The Tallit s Male... When we walk into the sanctuary of any synagogue, the first sights we most likely see are the aron hakodesh, the eternal lamp, and every man in the congregation wearing a tallit, the ritual prayer shawl worn during weekday and Shabbat morning services. Now, we might also see women wearing the tallit, too. In more recent years, women in synagogue have begun to wear the tallitas a movement towards egalitarianism, taking religious practice into their own hands and projecting a personal style to boot. In this paper, we will explore the critical concerns surrounding the tallit s male dominated origins, the move by women to wear the tallit on practical and symbolic levels, and the tallit as a method of personal expression. The Origins of the Tallit Based on the sea of tallitot we observe on men and women s shoulders in synagogue, we might think that the tallit has Biblical roots. Understanding where the tallit, and the commandment to wear it, come from, however, requires both closer analytical and physical examination. The actual commandment is to wear tzitzit, or fringes, on the corners of our garments: Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them throughout their generations fringes in the corners of their garments, and that they put with the fringe of each corner a thread of blue. (Numbers 15:38) This passage, which also appears in the blessings of the Shema, commands the wearing of tzitzit as a reminder to fulfill the mitzvoth and commandments in ... Thousands of Hutu extremists launched a massive assault on the Tutsi, who traditionally make up Rwanda s upper class, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people (Night Rider amp;#8211; most days ;). The United States immediately responded to this slaughter by turning the other way, denying that a problem existed until years after the genocide had ceased. This intended military escort function of the international community was averted, because of the sudden and quite peaceful march homeward of the Rwandans before the coalition had mobilized. Had the military escort occurred, there would have been potential for escalation of the Rwandan problem into an international military crisis, should bloodshed of any kind have erupted during the long march home of the refugees (Whaley). This potential for explosion of what some see as a nation s domestic concern into military action crossing international lines is what can deadlock the strategists, sometimes permitting ethnic cleansing to be substantially completed before a resolution can be endorsed by all nations concerned about the matter. Although ethnic cleansing has been present throughout history, we are only in the last century really starting to acknowledge it as an issue that needs to be definitively dealt with on a global scale. The incident that caused ethnic cleansing to be a major international issue was Adolph Hitler s extreme ethnic cleansing of the Jewish, which made the rest of the world realize that if SOMETHING was not done, the problem could spread to engulf the entire world. • 17. Loretta Lynn The Pill Analysis Oral birth control in the United States has a long history of controversy. For many years after it was legalized for married couples it was still considered taboo to talk about. So of course, Loretta Lynn, appropriately named Queen of Country, wrote and performed a song about it. This spunky, out spoken, record setting country goddess saw absolutely no qualm when it came to discussing, the pill . Although this ground breaking song on the birth controlforefront might seem revolutionary, it was nothing new for an artist like Lynn, who characteristically wrote songs about the hushed aspects of domestic life. Loretta Lynns song, The Pill , pushed social boundaries in the 1970 s by encouraging married women, especially in rural areas, to take control of their lives with the use of oral birth control. Lynn did so by informing rural women of the normalcy of oral birth control. Loretta Lynn was born Loretta Webb on April 14, 1932, in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Lynn grew up in a small poor Appalachian coal mining community and was the second of eight children. Loretta s career began when she started singing in church as a child. When she was 16, she married Oliver Lynn. The couple soon moved to Custer, Washington. During their first four years in Washington Lynn has four children, Betty Sue, Jack Benny, Ernest Ray and Clara Marie. Lynn was still passionate about music and began to play at local venues. By 1960, she had released her first single, I m a Honky Tonk Girl. She moved to Nashville, where she continued to perform and promote her music. Moving to Nashville was arguably one of Lynn s best decisions. That is where she met one of her best friends and role models, Patsy Cline, as well as find fame and recognition there. During her career Lynn has garnered an impressive release of more than 160 songs, 60 albums, a total sale of 45 million records, ten Number 1 albums and sixteen Number 1 singles on the country charts, and was the first women to win the the CMA s Entertainer of The Year. Loretta Lynn s most popular song, The Pill , was written about a married woman taking birth control. Today, this a common occurrence for American women. One meal a day that children are eating slightly healthy most likely does not have the greatest effect on their weight, but rather puts the responsibility on the parents to ensure their children are receiving the nutrients necessary to develop a healthy weight ( Bad ). Another main problem relating obesity and eating habits is being malnourished. Malnourished does mean to lack nutrients but does not necessarily mean to not receive plenty of food. This could mean they are receiving the correct amount of food, yet the essential vitamins needed for a heathy weight are not fulfilled. There are people suffering in our country from lack of food and malnutrition when we have people in our own nation who consume more food than necessary causing this dreadful disease. Families who receive a low income are more prone to being obese due to healthy foods at a greater price than those containing high amounts of sugar and fat. External Stability External Stability External stability is the government objective that seeks to achieve current account sustainability, a continued capacity to service foreign liabilities, and a foreign exchange rate; all of which are necessary to facilitate and encourage economic transactions between Australia and the rest of the world. External stability is the aim of government policy that seeks to promote stability and sustainability in Australia s external sector so that Australia can service its foreign liabilities in the medium to long run and avoid currency volatility. There are three main components to external stability: 1. A sustainable current account deficit (CAD) 2. A serviceable level of foreign liabilities 3. A stable... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The primary measure of the sustainability of a country s foreign debt is the debt servicing ratio, while the primary measure of foreign equity sustainability is the equity servicing ratio. These ratios indicate the proportion of export revenue that must be spent on interest payments for foreign debt (or dividend payment on foreign equities). In the long term, extensive growth of Australia s foreign debt can lead to a sustainability problem, as the costs of servicing current debt can create difficulty when servicing future debts. If foreign debt rises faster than GDP, interest repayments and other servicing costs on this debt will begin to take a proportionately larger part of GDP, constraining economic growth and jeopardising living standards. If prolonged, this may lead to a debt trap scenario. Australia s Exchange Rate Because Australia has a floating exchange rate, the currency s value is left to be determined by the market forces of international demand and supply. There is no specific measure of exchange rate volatility. Economists instead refer to movements in Australia s bilateral exchange rate or movements in Australia s TWI to demonstrate exchange rate volatility. Since floating in 1983, Australia s exchange rate has been remarkably volatile. This has been seen especially in the past six to seven years, where the Australian dollar has appreciated substantially against the US dollar, from record lows in August 2001 of US48 cents ... Brady uses hyperbole to exaggerate the position of what a stereotypical male ego (in the 1970s) thinks a wife should be and the unfairness of a wifes role. Selfish diction is used to emphasize the husbands chauvinistic ideas of what a wife should be like: I want a wife who will not bother me with rambling complaints about a wife s duties. The original intended audience for 1 Corinthians 13 were the Corinthians. The author uses paralipsis to show the Corinthians that their conduct had, in many respects, been a contrast to the behavior of love shown in 1 Corinthians 13. Nowadays, 1 Corinthians 13 is well known among Christians and non Christians. Love is patient, love is kind can be seen in many song lyrics and wedding vows. It is also taught in church to encourage Christians to live with a loving heart. 1 Corinthians 13 is one of the most well known bible verses nowadays because of rhetorical devices that make it memorable. For example, anaphora is applied in the second and third paragraphs of the chapter: Love is patient, love is kind..love does not delight in evil...love never fails. The Pro Choice campaign has many key arguments as to why it should be legal. The most popular is that it is the best option when it comes to rape or incest. The reasoning behind this is that the psychological trauma of an abortionis lees than of the woman gives birth to the child. The woman could hate the child or project their negative emotions on the child. Thus causing the child to grow up with the feelings of being unloved. the next argument is that adoption is not an alternative to abortion. Having this rejection of an abortion would leave women unable to have an abortion with the choice of either adoption, done by eleven percent of women, raising another child digging deeper into debt, or having to rely on the government for more monetary assistance. Why would the government deny someone the right to have an abortion if not having the child would save America the extra of not having to take care of another? Not regarding the one who wants to keep his or her pregnancy in the first place, why force a woman to raise a child she does not want? Unless the government feels that if they are providing welfare, it gives them a reason to intervene into personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Medicines Co Marketing The Medicines Company Case Write Up: Terence Cho, Felipe Duarte, Aleks Loiko, Robert Shaw, and James Wang Section 4, Group 10 Medicines Company s drug, Angiomax, outperforms Heparin, but incurs significantly higher costs to produce, making the drug difficult to attractively price. This difficulty in pricing stems from a poor positioning strategy for Angiomax which does not maximize the perceived value (PV) that the drug provides to its key customer segments. Therefore, Medicines Co., must develop a positioning strategy that maximizes the perceived value of Angiomax. Medicines Co. must first determine the critical characteristics its key customer segments (doctors, hospital administrators, and pharmacists) value in an anticoagulant ... This incentivizes doctors and, indirectly, hospital administrators to purchase the drug since this price is lower than the PV created by this positioning strategy. Implementing this solution requires additional considerations. First, Medicines Co. needs to thoroughly train its representatives on the cost savings and risks of complication statistics that show the significant effectiveness of Angiomax over Heparin for high risk patients. This is critical for their interactions with doctors. Second, Medicines Co needs to allocate additional marketing budgeting to demonstrate that Angiomax is a more effective treatment for high risk patients and not simply an alternative to Heparin. Finally, since Angiomax is close to being approved for heart attacks, the marketing team should perform another analysis of the marketing framework and budget more marketing to highlight the effectiveness of Angiomax in treating heart attacks over Heparin. • 41. The Role Of Nationalism In Macbeth By William Shakespeare Throughout the course of history, nationalism has been a defining characteristic of many groups of people. We see that in our current day, nationalism is a factor that determines the fate of communities and countries. One classic textbook case of nationalism comes from the English during the period of unification between England and Scotland. During this time period, we saw domestic tensions rise between English and Scottish people. When we look at works such as Macbeth, which was written by the Englishman William Shakespeare, further promoted an image of Scottish people being barbaric and power hungry, whereas the English were seen as benevolent and pure. By integrating this image into his story, Shakespeare allowed fellow English citizens to feel superior, which continued their nationalist sentiments. Ultimately, Shakespeare uses nationalist beliefs brought on by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1568, Mary, Queen of Scots was to flee to England from Scotland after her imprisonment in Scotland after a rebellion against her rule. The rebellion was sparked after she had been accused of plotting the murder of her husband. After arriving in England, she was imprisoned as she was seen as a threat to the monarch at the time, Queen Elizabeth the First. As her imprisonment lasted on, the current of nationalism grew in England (Warnicke, 168). The people of England believed the crimes that Mary had been accused of. They also believed that Mary was a treacherous women who wanted to usurp the throne of England. Ultimately, Mary was sentenced to death in 1587 after being convicted of plotting to assassinate the Queen of England. This conviction, and the long imprisonment, cemented the views of the English and they saw Scottish people as treacherous individuals because their queen was (Warnicke, ... • 42. Ethos Of Apollo 11 In 1969, the Apollo 11 launch happened and became something rightfully important to the United States. It was the talk of every news stations and newspapers. These two men, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin had risked their lives to do something the whole world had not done before. They became the first men to walk the moon and this became something historical. After walking the moon, they placed the American flag on it too, and to this day it is still there. With all the newspapers talking about this, one that caught people s eyes was the Man Takes First Steps on The Moon. The audience was the people who were concerned about the first man landing on outer space. This was something abnormal at the time and nobody really had a clue how a human body can manage this. Also, this event was used to see the improvement of human success and what they have been capable of doing. Regarding space, it wasn t something that was really used, it was more like an illusion and seemed so close but far away at the same time. This text used ethos, and logos to support information about the moon s successful landing and provide it for the audience. For logos, the fact that a well known newspaper publisher such as the Times wrote about it shows that it is a reliable source. Also that fact that the story was well written and full of facts to make the audience believe it more. With pathos, the kind of emotion, it was giving the audience was more about happiness and being proud of the US for their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sociocultural Theory Of Piaget As a nursing student, I am looking to start a career in pediatric nursing or work in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where I am working with premature babies. Working with children can be challenging, not only do I need to care for their treatment as well as psychical well being, I also need to care for their mental development. That is where developmental psychologycomes into place, two most influenced developmental theory Piagetian theory Sociocultural theory, will help me understand more about how children develop so that I can care for them accordingly. Piaget s fundamental assumption is on how children can actively shape their own development, they are mentally active since their birth. Piaget hypothesized four stages of development, they are sensorimotor stage; preoperational stage; concrete stage and formal operational stage. An understanding of this developmental theory can be beneficial to nurses in assessing which stage of development the child has reached, to plan the correct level of stimulation. Since in the hospital setting, the child s resources are limited. We need more stimulation for the child s development. In a hospital, children are all placed in the same floor with similar surroundings disregard they are in different developmental stages. For example, children in the preoperational stage need more verbal stimulation since they are learning to express their experience through language mental imagery and symbiotic thoughts; however, children ... • 44. Automatic Active phase selector Abstract: Phase absence is a very common and severe problem in any industry, home or office. Many times one or two phases may not be live in three phase supply. Because of this, many times, some electrical appliances will be on in one room and OFF in another room. This creates a big disturbance to our routine work. This project is designed to check the availability of any live phase, and the load will be connected to the particular live phase only. Even a single phase is available, and then also, the load will be in ON condition. The aim of this project is to construct a single phasing monitor and prevention system using 8bit microcontroller. • 46. Life Lessons Learned What s a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it isn t possible. I can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will fail, and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this, and you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Biblehas taught me many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the day. It was a little bit after 10 o clock, and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west side of the field. I was having a bad day, being told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and opened my Bible to a random place and started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The warm May air hugged me like a comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was heavy in my my hands, the design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket and sweatpants against my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling through my ears. The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing only the words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my legs have fallen asleep. Have you ever gone to summer camp? Well, if you haven t, I would suggest it. Although, the one that s the most significant is: don t give up on what you believe in. The author portrays this theme throughout the novel by telling how Grace finds out what really happened to her mother. First off, Ally Carter conveys the theme, don t give up on what you believe in, through telling Grace s journey to find out what happened to her mother when Grace was so little. Because I went crazy, I fill in. It s ok Grandpa. You can say it (Carter 26). Grace says this to her grandfather after he tells her why he hadn t come to see her after her mother s death. Dominic is the scared man Grace believes murdered her mother. After Dominic arrives home early while the group of friends is still there, they are forced to hide. It is the anonymity of darkness that envelops the interior of the silhouette that provokes fear, and most of all, concealment. Within the brush outside of the Jones family mansion was just that, a silhouette. A frightful silhouette, resembling death in an ominous manner. Edward was geared up with his weapons and apparel, and just awaiting an opening within the mansion. There were always a few securityguards posted up around the sides of the large residence, and there were an excessive amount posted in the front and back of the mansion. • 50. Contemplative Importance The Importance of Contemplative Practices in an Academic Environment (pt. 1) Contemplative practices can take several forms, including meditation, prayers, and certain physical exercises such as yoga. Before taking Education in the USA, I had spent very little time participating in these practices except for the occasional yoga session my former tennis coach would instruct me to attend. However, these were cases of me superficially participating in that practice. Since participating in our Wednesday discussions which include a 5 to 10 minute period of meditation, the what s present/what are we experiencing? exercises, and occasionally, the placement of different objects and words in the center of the room I have become increasingly aware of the importance of these practices in relation to both the material we are covering in lectures as well as our individual beings. In my opinion, the respective purposes of these different contemplative practices have been to cultivate a sense of mental calmness while taking a break from our busy lives, identify the importance of fully embracing the present moment, and expose us to different viewpoints and reactions regarding certain topics, ultimately forcing us to think critically and respond constructively to them. The meditation portion of our Wednesday discussions allows us to take a step away from the rigorous classwork and constant worrying about due dates by instead focusing solely on our breathing. Fewer than ten transnational media conglomerates dominate much of our media; fewer than two dozen account for the overwhelming majority of our newspapers, magazines, films, television, radio, and books. With every aspect of our media culture now fair game for commercial exploitation, we can look forward to the full scale commercialization of sports, arts, and education, the disappearance of notions of public service from public discourse, and the degeneration of journalism, political coverage, and children s programming under commercial pressure. This concentration of media power and attendant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Journalists and reporters abuse the claim to their first amendment rights, the first instinct of many journalists is to cry First Amendment! With the first amendment protecting the media from any criticisms, they have no conscience in what the show or say. The media is no better than any other sitcom on TV. They do what they have to do for an audience. Fallows hypothesis that contemporary commercial journalism is essentially a mix of crime stories, celebrity profiles, consumer news pitched at the upper middle class, and warmed over press releases is completely and utterly plausible. Everyone knows that big time journalists have become powerful and prominent. We see them shouting at presidents during White House press conferences. We hear them offering instant thumbs up/thumbs down verdicts a few seconds after a politician completes a speech.
