The Governing Body Of Soccer
The People s Game Soccer
Football, fГєtbol, fuГџball, soccer. No matter what the name, it is a sport that is played throughout
the world. The current governing body of soccer is the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football
Association (FIFA) headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Just like any large cooperation, they are
not without fault when it comes to integrity issues, such as the recent corruption scandal in 2015.
Nonetheless, the idea of the game was created to be pure in order to have friendly competition.
The concept of the game in which is known today was established in 1863 in England. However,
the origins of the game have been scientific traced dating back to the second and third centuries in
China (FIFA). In 1863, the game that was played centuries before split into two factions; one
faction continued to use their hands and became rugby, the other became soccer. Breaking the
soccer down to the basics of today; each team is allowed to have 11 players on the field, goal
keepers are the only ones allowed to use their hands, and the objective is to get the spherical ball
into the other team s goal without using their hands. The evolution of the game has allowed soccer
become the best sport in the world because it teaches teamwork, goals, and camaraderie.
The word teamwork is used very regularly; however, it is much easier said than done, especially
when it comes to sports. Teamwork is about remaining positive, having trust, accepting
responsibility,

Native American Missionaries Research Paper
Many people have dedicated their lives as missionaries to foreign lands. There are two basic
categories of missionaries: pioneer and settler. Both types of of equal worth to the cause of the
gospel. The three main parts are Pioneer missionaries, settler missionaries and how they are
similar. First, pioneer missionaries such as the famous David livingstone pave the way for settler
missionaries by planting the precious seeds of the gospel in the hearts of the people as they move
from village to village, spreading the truth. David contributed Many things to the missionfield in
Africa by mapping the inland and helping to stop the fast growing slave industry. On his many
journeys to reach people, he also treated their illnesses, taught them

(Note It is assumed that the price elasticity of demand is constant over the period of time.)
A result on the next page shows that at sales price of $21.50, the sales quantity rises to 1,140,085
units and net profit turns to positive for the first time. Besides, if a company continues to reduce
the price further, at the point of $15.50, it is where the company s profit on product 101 is in the
highest position as it gives the net profit of $3,901,908.
However, there are several factors for the company to choose its pricing strategy. In this case, it
may be better if the company choose to sell its product at $21.50 instead of $15.50. This is due
to the fact that price cutting appears to be not a good strategy in this industry. If every player in
the same industry starts to lower the price of their products, every company will end up having
the low price, which in turns lead to a low profit margin. Moreover, referring to the calculation in a
below table, it also implies that if the price is lower than $12, sales will not be able to cover the
variable cost incurred, thus it will bring about a loss in net profit.

Baseball Is A Sport Of Baseball
There are only two seasons, winter and baseball (Veeck). For most people, baseball is a way of
life, not just a sport they play or watch. The history of baseball goes all the way back to the
1800s, and is a sport played in many countries around the world. Baseball is one of America s
most popular sports, and it would not be called America s Pastime if it wasn t. The rules of
baseball might be simple to grasp, but the game in itself is very difficult. Baseball has history
that cannot be forgotten and rivalries in the American and National Leagues that cannot be
ignored, these things fuel peoples burning desires within to play and watch this thrilling game.
What is Baseball? A game played on a large field by two teams of nine players who try to score
runs by hitting a small ball with a bat and then running to each of the four bases without being
put out (Merriam Webster). In baseball, you not only have someone hitting the ball, but you
also have someone who pitches the ball to the batter and someone who fields the ball after it is
hit. In order to get a batter or runner out, you have to tag them with the ball in your glove, catch
the ball in the air, strike out the batter, or touch the base with the ball in your glove. Each batter
gets four balls and three strikes which determines whether the batter walks or strikes out. These
are the basic rules of baseball that have been enforced by umpires for over a century. Have you ever
wondered what the origins of baseball are?

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint and How the Stages of...
More and more people are coming to realize the negative impact our actions within the current
global take make waste economic model are having on the environment. Environmental movements
that advocate against the earth s continued degradation instruct individuals, communities, and
governments that it is critical to take action now. According to Prochaska and DiClement, the only
way to increase the efficacy of any given call to action, however, is if the suggested change in
behaviour is appropriate to where a person is currently at within the Transtheoretical Stages of
Change model. Behaviour modification, from day to day habits to a more fundamental lifestyle

The Second Stage Contemplation
As individuals begin to discover how their actions negatively impact the environment, mindfulness
and dissonance grows. If this dissonance is complimented by a sense of empowered self efficacy,
and the realization that change brings benefits, these ingredients often result in the progression to
the contemplation stage. At this stage, for example, the suggestion to eat organic, locally grown
and produced food is a more appropriate call to action. The contemplation stage is marked by
ambivalency, but the willingness exists to weigh the pros and cons, and the idea will not be
immediately dismissed as an inconvenient expense. People in this stage need to know that there
actions make a difference. Education and an unconditional support system can help a person
progress through this stage.
The Third Stage Preparation
Once people conclude that the benefits of change outweigh the inconveniences, they are likely to
progress to the preparation stage. People in this position believe global warming is real, for instance,
and will begin to feel deeply about their own contributory actions. Individuals in this stage are
ready to work out the logistics of incorporating ethical eating into their day to day lives. Abstaining
from fast food, buying only organic

Network, Virtual Local Area Networks ( Vlans )
In the past, companies were hampered by the cost, performance, and security issues that are
associated with local area networks or LANs. LANs must be connected physically to switches
which means that each LAN must have its own switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The
virtualized version of the LANs, virtual local area networks (VLANs), allows users to invest in
only one switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The VLAN is used in a virtual data center
environment to separate a single LAN into more than one network while being physically
connected to only one switch. One advantage of VLANs is that network administrators can now
sort devices by whatever criteria they require without physical location being an issue. Different
VLANs can be set for different groups or departments within the same LAN. Performance is
improved because, when the LAN is broken up into VLANs, it is not receiving broadcasts from
all of the devices (certbros.com, 2015, para. 4). Cost is decreased because separate physical
switches are not required for VLANs. A security benefit is provided because VLANs can be
configured to accommodate the different security levels needed, and the administrator can choose
whether or not to allow the VLANs to communicate with each other (certbros.com, 2015, para. 6).
VRFs Virtualization is also used in the data center to acquire more routing instances without
acquiring more hardware (Santana, 2014. P. 90). This technology is known as Virtual Routing and

What Are The Ways Of Hemingway
The Ways of Hemingway
Is Hemingway s troublesome history with women the reason why his women characters do not
have a significant role in his short stories? It may seem as so. Throughout his lifetime
Hemingway has had numerous wives or girlfriends, most of them containing conflict. Many
occurrences like the ones he has had with these women are reflected in his works along with
problems with race and coming of age. In Indian Camp , Nick, his Uncle George and his father

two days. Nick s father is a doctor so he was asked to come over to the camp to help her deliver the

Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder
I chose to complete the Psychology 1000 Mental Disorder Project on Attention Deficit/ Hyper

Disorder at age 5 which caused me to struggle academically all through grade school and into high
school. I was given an Individual Education Plan for mathematics in grade school that was
supposed to help me succeed but hardly did that because to this day I still cannot do math at a
college level. Around age 5, I was put on the methylphenidateRitalin to help me concentrate in
school but it caused stomach ulcers and I lost a lot of weight due to me getting a stomach ache
after taking the pill. Even though according to Timely Data Resources Inc. they say children are
at increased risk of being overweight and the extent to which treatment with stimulant medications
alters this association. But with my personal side effects to the treatment I became extremely
underweight, which lead to my doctor prescribing me the methylphenidate Concerta that is
similar to Ritalin but is a time release tablet that helped me do better in school. I only had to take
one pill a day unlike Ritalin where I had to take a pill with breakfast and then another one with
lunch. I also gained all my weight back while taking Concerta because the ulcers and the upset
stomach went away. Because I was originally prescribed Ritalin my doctor wanted to keep me on

Clementine Hunter was born and raised in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was not a slave
although many people thought she was. She lived and worked on the Melrose Plantation where
she taught herself how to paint primitive folk art. She uses mostly oils to paint. She was also
illiterate so she couldn t sign all the bottoms of her paintings. She had a special marking on her
paintings. It was a c and an h . This is seen many ways in her paintings. Sometimes the c is under

In her painting of Going to Church she has painted the St. Augustine Church which is right
outside of Natchitoches in a small town called Natchez, Louisiana. This church was created by
freed African American slaves in the mid 1900 s. This church was important to her because now
the freed slaves had a place to go to worship. The people would go to church almost every day.
She has every person painted in their best dress and best suits. There is a figure in the painting
that is larger than everyone else and I presume it to be her. Since the painting was painted later, I
assume that she is becoming more comfortable with her paintings and in herself. In this painting,
the c and the h are written more like a normal word. This painting relates to me because everyone
looks so happy going to church which is the way it should be. Most people nowadays go to church
because they feel like they have not, not because they want

A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic
Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water
environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the
calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of
organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches
of the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the
planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable
biostratigraphic tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988;
Martin Closas Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the
focus of intensive work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the
dating, biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study
attempts a comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late JurassicEarly Cretaceoussequence
at Messak escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this
type of microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never
been studied for charophytes beforehand. On the basis of the stratigraphic distribution of
charophytes it is possible to subdivide the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceoussequence into four
assemblage zones. These are described in ascending

Tariffs on Imports
In simplest terms, a tariff is a tax. It adds to the cost of imported goods and is one of several trade
policies that a country can enact. Tariffs are often created to protect infant industries and
developing economies, but are also used by more advanced economies with developed industries.
Here are five of the top reasons tariffs are used: Protecting Domestic Employment The levying of
tariffs is often highly politicized. The possibility of increased competition from imported goods can
threaten domestic industries. These domestic companies may fire workers or shift production
abroad to cut costs, which means higher unemployment and a less happy electorate. The
unemployment argument often shifts to domestic industries complaining... Show more content on

The 15% is a price increase on the value of the automobile, so a $10,000 vehicle now costs
$11,500 to Japanese consumers. This price increase protects domestic producers from being
undercut, but also keeps prices artificially high for Japanese car shoppers. Non tariff barriers to
trade include: Licenses A license is granted to a business by the government, and allows the
business to import a certain type of good into the country. For example, there could be a
restriction on imported cheese, and licenses would be granted to certain companies allowing
them to act as importers. This creates a restriction on competition, and increases prices faced by
consumers. Import Quotas An import quota is a restriction placed on the amount of a particular
good that can be imported. This sort of barrier is often associated with the issuance of licenses.
For example, a country may place a quota on the volume of imported citrus fruit that is allowed.
Voluntary Export Restraints (VER) This type of trade barrier is voluntary in that it is created by
the exporting country rather than the importing one. A voluntary export restraint is usually
levied at the behest of the importing country, and could be accompanied by a reciprocal VER.
For example, Brazil could place a VER on the exportation of sugar to Canada, based on a request
by Canada. Canada could then place a VER on the exportation of coal to Brazil. This increases the
price of both coal and sugar, but protects the

Rhetorical Devices In Uptown Sinclair s The Jungle
The Jungle
By: Uptown Sinclair
The usage of Rhetorical Devices is in everything one listens to, watches, and especially reads
included by the author s in order to capture the audience s attention. Uptown Sinclair is a well
known literary writer that blossomed during the nineteenth century for the purpose to explain to
society what wrong situation was occurring with the meat industry. Sinclair uses a wide variety of
rhetoric in order to build a support system for his theme. If used well these devices strengthen and
add more structure to any prose. A few of the many well known rhetorical devices that are used by
Uptown Sinclair are; metaphors, similes, Rhetorical questions, Anadiplosis, personification,
asyndeton, repetition, periodic sentences, and symbolism.
Uptown Sinclair intentionally uses a literal style which allows the author to communicate on one
straight forward level. Allowing the author to be understood with the meanings of the primary
words chosen. In many ways the author is simple throughout their written novel. Simple as in how

Receptor Cell Essay
THE RETINA: RECEPTOR CELLS
The receptor cells are the RODS and CONES. Each consists of: * A process consisting of outer
and inner segments. * An external fiber connecting the process with the soma. * A soma or body
containing the nucleus. * An inner fiber that resembles an axon and synapses with a bipolar cell.
Rods are extremely sensitive to light and can react to a single photon. The light is absorbed by the
pigment rhodopsin and the energy acquired results in decrease in cGMP which in turn causes the
closing of Na+ channels. This hyperpolarizes the cell causing a release of synaptic vesicles.

The Meyer s loop fibers carry information from the lower retina, and thus from the upper part of
the visual field to the lower bank of the calcarine fissure.
THE VISUAL CORTEX
The information received by the primary visual cortex is illlustrated in A below: It is inverted and
reversed, and the center has high resolution which becomes progressively worse toward the
periphery. In addition, there are fewer cones at the periphery, so the image contains less color at the
periphery.
The visual cortex reconstructs the image with constant color and resolution.
INFLAMMATION OF THE OPTIC NERVE
Because nearly ВЅ of the fibers in the optic nerve are from the fovea, inflammation of the nerve
will affect color perception and resolution in the central vision in the ipsilateral eye.
LESION OF THE OPTIC NERVE
A lesion that destroys the optic nerve will destroy all input from that retina, leading to monocular
visual loss (blindness in that eye).
LESION OF THE OPTIC CHIASM
A lesion of the optic chiasm will destroy the fibers from the medial halves of both retinas where
they cross. Remember that the medial half of the retina receives the image from the lateral half of
the visual field. Thus a lesion of the optic chiasm will result in loss of the lateral halves of the
visual fields, sometimes called tunnel vision (bitemporal hemianopia).

Acid-Base Titration Lab Report

Acid Base Titration Lab Write up
Introduction:
Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to
an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration.
Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of
a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has
an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard
solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is
added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be
equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The
following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution:
(Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or
MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the
unknown solution.
The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point
and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that
it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the
solution is acidic or pink which

I compile, through various mediums, information regarding initial public offerings, or IPO s.
The report includes areas such as defining an IPO, the performance of IPO s, the current market
for IPO s, and the process of buying an IPO. Therefore, the feasibility report is directed at the
retail or non professional investor who may be engaged in purchasing IPO s. I look to determine if
the underlying facts create certainty that these instruments are profitable currently and in the long
run. It appears through study that investors have increased their consumption of initial public
offerings since the 2007 2008 financial crisis. Many investors believe purchasing IPO s can create
quick realized gains. However, it appears that the performance of these issues has lagged the
broader market, which in my opinion should steal zeal from these risky investments. The figures
throughout this report should indicate and reaffirm that not all IPOs, whether popular or unpopular,
will benefit the professional or non professional investor. It must be noted that not everything is the
same in financial markets and results may vary significantly from this report in a single incident or
sample study. INTRO Over time, financial markets have become more complex and possibly more
confusing for the average or retail investor. It appears through recent observation that non
professional investors do not understand the process, importance of, and potential harm that IPO s

Suppose you are entering Chartres through the central portal. You want to get to the apse. What
parts of the plan might you traverse in order to get there? Describe what you will see along the
way. I would enter the Chartres Cathedral through the center door of the Royal portal located on
the Western façade (although the photograph depicts people entering and leaving through the
left hand door). I would pass by figures of Old Testament kings and queens and under the central
tympanum (Adams, 208). Although far above my head, I would know that the scene on the
tympanum represents the Second Coming of Christ (Adams, 209). I would proceed east down
the nave through the crossing in the middle, on through the choir to the apse. I would be in awe
of the wonder of the overwhelming sensation of height as I walked down the nave. I would
admire the arches on the heavy piers on either side of the nave. Arriving at the apse, I would
admire the beauty of the windows which are the main source of light in the nave (Adams, 212). 1.

Theme Of A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
It says, ..but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down, ( Marquez 363). This
phrase is critical to the theme of the story as it provides the readers information on the Angel and
allows them to understand he was frail and week. This also gives the people who found him a
gateway to a larger domain of opportunities to obtain money. In the short story, A Very Old Man
With Enormous Wings. Gabriel Marquez, develops the character of the Angel through the use of
symbols, character, and plot to demonstrate encounters with those who are weak and how the
Angel overcomes adversity through courage and strength. First the author uses symbols to help
describe the Angel and portray how weak the angel actually is. The Angel s wings symbolize
strength and power. While the Angel is in the cage his wings are beat up and he is weak, but over
time his wings begin to heal and he becomes more powerful. It says, ... and at the beginning of

Coffee Is The Best Beans Essay
Coffee connoisseurs love nothing more than a cup of freshly brewed coffee. There was a time
when getting the best beans and roasting them at home was not possible for everyone. With the

comfort of their homes. But there s still the problem of getting the best beans. Not everyone is

depending on their grade and the place where they were grown. Another factor that affects the
coffee taste is the freshness of the beans. You must buy the freshest beans and not the ones that
have been stored in a warehouse for number of years. While buying coffee beans, the first thing
you must look for is their grade and the place where they were grown. The most popular and
commonly available beans are Costa Rican Tarrazu, Kenya AA, Guatemalan Antigua, Ethiopian
Yirgacheffe, Brazilian Santos, Sumatra Mandheling, Mexican Altura, Jamaican Blue Mountain,
Colombian Supremo and Tanzanian Peaberry. All these beans are rich in aroma and flavour and
are named after the place where they were grown. The taste differs and depends on the climate,

August 21st, 1996 and was put in place to protect the privacy of patient medical records and other
related healthcare information. Since there are a lot of misconceptions in regards to HIPAA,
healthcare professionals have many questions to ensure they are not only following the law, but
providing the best service they can for their patients while protecting their rights. These questions
range from public health uses and disclosures, research uses and disclosures, and litigations
concerning a person s rights under HIPAA. What does the HIPAA Privacy Rule require the
average provider or health plan to do? It is a requirement under the HIPAA Privacy Rule that each
patient knows their privacy rights and how their medical information can be used. The Rule also
includes that each facility has adequate training for its employees. The securing of patient records
containing identifiable information so that only authorized personnel can access them... Show more

The short answer is, no. Collecting and receiving information about a possible threat to public
health is sanctioned under HIPAA Privacy Rule. Although permission is not needed to report a
communicable disease, the patient is notified of exposure to prevent or control any epidemic. Often
times the patient is encouraged to speak with their spouses/partners, if they refuse to do so, it falls
under the physicians responsibility to seek out those partners. Public health and safety is very

Sexual Selection Definition
Survival of the Sexiest
Have you ever noticed that most animals of the same species look completely different in that
some are more beautiful than others? Some fish have vibrant colored ornate tails while others do
not. Some birds have an array of radiant colors while others are dull and drab; their feathers usually
consisting of one monotone color. Science has discovered that gender plays a key role in the
selection of physical qualities. It has been identified that animals of male gender have more dynamic
physical characteristics than the female gender. Female animals are usually one drab color, without
any significant physical qualities. This concept is called sexual selection. What exactly is the
concept of sexual selection, and what is its purpose in the animal kingdom?
Sexual selection is defined as a form of natural selection in which, according to Darwin s theory,
the mate or female is attracted by certain characteristics, form, color, behavior, etc., in the opposite
sex, thus modifications of a special nature are brought about in the species ( Sexual Selection ).

The first is combat. Males of the same species battle for the female s attention and, in turn, get to
mate with her and produce offspring. The second is display. Display is important since the
ornate male features are used to attract females. The female animal sees the male ornaments to
be an indication of the male s vitality (Brown 1 6). The suggestion is that the bigger, more
colorful males have proved themselves to be of better quality and thus the female will be more
attracted to them. The male who is small and not as colorful will probably not produce nearly as
many offspring as the male who is big and bright. Females want high quality males so that they can

The Need Of Quality Medical Care
1.The united States of America is need of quality medical care, a way to provide necessary
service is to increase the number of quality professionals. The changing market is in need of
professionals who are both knowledgeable and talented enough to deliver care to the underserved
community of this great country. Saint Francis University, is addressing this need by providing
education to qualified students to enable them to become future leaders. Saint Francis s addresses
this national shortage by advancing students problem solving skills and clinical knowledge, all
the while maintaining a focus on serving the community. My core values include servant
leadership which means in everything I want to do I want to be serving those around me. I have
come to the conclusion, the only way to serve the community in the fullest capacity is to first
become educated on the needs of the community. To gain understanding of what is required to
serve this world, I took time volunteering in a nursing home as therapy aide and working at
podiatrist office. Although these experiences can be limiting, the information gained in serving
people is invaluable. Working with people to meet basic needs has shown me the importance of
humbly approaching all scenarios and patients. I realize our personal growth should never slow

overthrowing an authoritarian government, or even going after a self interest. When rebellion
does show itself, the consequences that come with it are unpredictable. Rebellion is a risk that
can lead to a great adventure, or it can ruin your life. One technique Rebellion can do its damage is

Morality Of Homelessness
Homelessness not only affects politics, the economy, and social environments, it also heavily
influences morality. Should homelessness continue in its current state, the moral compass of
humanity as a whole will be thrown off. Caring for those around us who have experienced troubles
should be something that is actively sought to fix, not ignored. By ignoring the issue, we create an
aura of indifference to, not just human suffering, but suffering that we experience close to our
homes. The continuing existence of homelessness can be seen as a contradiction to the Building

characterized by a thickening of the skin. Accumulation of collagen by fibroblasts, platelet

collapse of the Soviet Union, migration was occurring at rapid and uncontrollable rates due to
sporadic migration from random migrants as well as seekers of asylum. Migrants spread across
North America and Western Europe. The influx of migrants in turn lead to a change in border

Essay about Benefits and Drawbacks of Legalizing Marijuana
Compared with harder drugs as cocaine and heroin, marijuana, also named as cannabis or hemp, is
considered as a soft drug with less addiction and harm. In the 19th century, it was one of the most
important crops in the American continent to the common wealth (Newton, 2013, p.32), but it has
been banned to grow in most countries since the 20th century (Newton, 2013, p.45). Given the
clamour for decriminalizationof the personal possession of small amounts of marijuana is growing
(Single, 2013, p.456) and the problem of pushing drugs is exacerbated in sight, the proposal of

governments have convinced that it is reasonable to adjudicate them differently (Ibid). If personal
use of marijuana is legalized due to its harmlessness to the public, users may prefer to legally obtain
marijuana from the authorized shops and enterprises instead of committing crimes for obtaining
drugs. With the guidance from the government, the social and individual security will be
guaranteed and the crime rate can be correspondently lowered.
However, from another perspective, legalizing marijuana is unfavorable and unacceptable. Studies
have proved that there is intimate relationship between the occurrence of some diseases and the use
of marijuana. Tashkin (2005,p.93) has pointed out that Marijuana use is associated with the
respiratory and mental illness and is harmful to the cognitive and immune system. Additionally,
using marijuana increases the risk of lung cancer (Hashibe et al., 2006, p.1830). Researches have
manifested that the number of marijuana smokers suffering from the tortures of cough and sputum
is larger than those of non smokers for the reason that marijuana users usually smoke the mixture of
marijuana and some hard drugs harmful to people s lungs. It has been estimated that the
consumption of marijuana will increase about

Theme Of Silence In Philomela
Barbarism and silence in suffering are major themes in Philomela that draws on the point of the
absence of gods. From the very beginning, the reader realises that the absence of the gods
foreshadows disaster and tragedy. Ovid writes how the wedding wasn t attended by Juno as
bridal matron, the Graces, or jovial Hymen (line 429, p 230). The torches that escorted the
guests were snatches from a funeral (l 430, p 231) and a sinister screech owl (l 431, p 231) sat
on the roof of their bedroom. Ovid explicitly states that these were the omens that marked the
union of Procne and Tereus (l 433, p 231). It is clear to see how the absence of the gods from the

Many critics did not find The Miller s Tale as comical as it was intended. Mary Rowers Braswell
writes in her essay that Arthur Hugh Clough described it as rude and indelicate and suggested

why the tale would not have been as popular, due to its mocking of religion. Morgan writes in his

The Failure Of Risk Management
Hubbard is very contemptuous of much of the Risk Management practiced by organisations. Do
you agree with his comments and suggested methods of managing analysis of risks?
In The failure of risk management why it s broken and how to fix Hubbard has put a very good
argument regarding the failure of old risk management techniques. Hubbard has tried to show how
the risk management methodologies and techniques used currently by many organisation lack
scientific and mathematical approach towards risk management.
Hubbard has asked 3 basic questions in his book based on the several risk management
methodologies
1.Do these risks management methods work?
2.Dose the organisation s using these methods know if these methods didn t work?
3.What are the consequences if they didn t work?
In my opinion Hubbard has put the very strong argument in his book, as many organisations have
adopted risk management systems. But the problem is, the systems are not backed up by
measurable scientific results and often can actually make things worse. After reading the text I don
t think that Hubbard is being contemptuous of the risk management practices but he is trying to
identifying new ways of better utilising these methods.
After reading the book we can see that Hubbard is a strong advocate of quantitative risk
management techniques such as Monty Carlo simulation. However, he believes that they are often
used incorrectly. Specifically,
1.They are often used without empirical data or validation

Analysis Of The Grand Budapest Hotel
Zyra De Los Reyes

October 21, 2016
An auteur director is viewed as prime mover in creative filmmaking, whose work is considered to
have a distinctive style and innovative. Wes Anderson exemplifies the concept of auteurism due to
his personal influence, and artistic control in his movies. His films feature a continuity of technical
aspects with similar themes of familial drama and disgruntlement. From his well composed mise en
scene to classic pan shots, his style has surely become an acclaimed signature. The Grand Budapest
Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, and The Royal Tenenbaums are chosen from Anderson s
filmography to show that the use of these features has remained constant since his earliest work.
Anderson is known for his quirky style. When people, especially filmgoers see a movie that has
distinguishing color palette and perfect symmetry that s aesthetically pleasing, they would know it
s his. Since The Grand Budapest Hotel is a story within a story, the color provides a distinction
between one period to another and gives more meaning to the film.
The story begins with an older Author played by Tom Wilkinson telling the tale on how he gets
his inspiration for his book which is also named The Grand Budapest Hotel. Then the younger
version of the author, played by Jude Law who meets Monsieur Zero Moustafa (F. Murray
Abraham) was shown. Zero meets the author and tells the tale on how he became the hotel s owner.

Francis has done an excellent job of using the screenplay to demonstrate the last evil, which is
madness: the dehumanizations of oneself. Right before the crew lands, one of the crew
members dropped an acid tab. Francis uses that one line to create the screenplay for the whole
sequence. In the first moments, the Camera captures hazy dark scenes of the bridge, with
shadows lurking around, and bright colorful Christmas lights around the bridge. Francis makes
this scene look as it was a circus, with vague distorted music in the background, and flashes of
light to see the characters faces. This creates a window into what we see the soldiers experience
we get, utter madness. Once the crew members descend into the trenches we see very weird and
out of place shots. The first film shot is a group of black soldiers listening to Jimi Hendrix and
smoking pot. The Jimi Hendrix back sound is also supposed to represent what the crew member
that dropped acid is hearing and feeling. Coincidentally, Francis is also portraying his acid trip
externally with the vivid lights, and explosions. The next stop in the trench, there s a soldier firing
into darkness thinking that he s shooting at the enemy but it s really his own troops. Francis really
films this and uses his screenplay to make this look so hellish. There s screaming in the
background, distorted music, people yelling over the intercom, and loud explosions, but

Misogyny Pervades The Picture Aeschylus Sophocles ...
Misogyny pervades the picture Aeschylus, Aristophanes, and Sophocles paint of Athenian society.
In their literature, however, female characters catalyze plot by challenging this picture. Such
characters from Sophocles Antigone to Aristophanes Lysistrata face grim consequences for acting
independently. Clytemnestraand Cassandrafrom Aeschylus s Agamemnonexemplify this archetype
of autonomy and destruction. When they confront injustice, male characters perceive them as
vindictive and hysterical. This paper will compare the standards of justice Aeschylus s society
imposes on men and women. I will argue that Clytemnestra and Cassandra are protectors of divine
justice who reject subservience and thereby transcend the sexism of their society.
The women in Agamemnon are as powerful as men but slaves to the divine. Clytemnestra s early
sacrifices parallel her vengeful slaughter of Agamemnon. After Clytemnestra makes sacrifices in
celebration of Greece s victory, the chorus cries, hope glows through your victims (Agamemnon,
658). They reference both hope for Greece s victory and hope for avenging Iphigenia s death.
Sacrifices of thanksgiving make Clytemnestra an ambassador of victory and the sacrifice of
Agamemnon makes her an ambassador of Justice. Agamemnon s slaughter is an act in the name of
heavenly Justice; it is a retributive sacrifice to Fate. Despite its moral significance, the murder of
the war hero invokes a cycle of death within the house of Agamemnon. Like the

A Brave New World Cloning Analysis
The idea of cloning has been around for decades, and some scientist have even utilized this
process. In the story Brave New World by Aldous Huxley the author presents the process of cloning
by using hatcheries instead of natural reproduction, which no longer exists, to create individuals.
Individuals in society are given different doses of lethal drugs to alter development so that they
meet the standards based on their pre determined social classes. The concept of cloningis used to
propagate another organism or cellto create an exact copy of its original without the use of natural
reproduction. This process has been very successful with the cloning of animals, cells, and even a
recent humanexperiment. In the case of cloning, the power of

Factors That Affect The Process Of Recidivism
Several significant problems affect the success or failure of ex offenders reentry back into
society. Overcrowding of prison populations and the high recidivism rates have created a cycle of
incarceration for ex offenders as they come and go through correctional systems. Each year, more
than 600,000 ex offenders are released back into communities nationwide from state and federal
prisons (Petersilia, 2003). It is estimated that nearly 95% of state ex offenders will be released from
prisoninto communities where they often find it difficult to obtain employment due to criminal
records, limited education, and minimal vocational skills (Holzer, Raphael, Stoll, 2003).
The process of prisoner reentry will be examined along with the policies surrounding the Indiana
Reentry Facility, the traits of the Indiana Reentry Facility inmates, environmental factors that
caused prisoners to return, and the financial situation of the communities where the highest number
of returning prisoners occurs, in order to determine if the Indiana Reentry Facility actually reduces
recidivism. Past studies have shown that is suggested that roughly 70 percent of prison inmates
released are re arrested within the first three years post release and almost 50 percent are ultimately
returned back to prison. Still, most of the research now focuses only on recidivism and ignores that
recidivism is currently affected by post prison reintegration and adjustment back into the
community. Shortage of ongoing

African American Children In Schools
The first test that I took on the website was the Race IAT test. As I was answering the first few
questions I was finding it to be a little racist. The reason why I found it be racist is because, of
how they said whether I agree or not if African American children have a negative effect on
European American children in schools. My answer was no, African American children do not
have a negative effect on other children because, their only kids going through an educationand
every child has their own view points. In a way children can be influenced by other kids but,
having a certain racein the class doesn t automatically influence other children to bad. While I read
the questions given to me I started to feel a bit of anger because, I have

Comfortable Classroom Atmosphere
How to Create a Comfortable Classroom Atmosphere?
Studying is frequently associated with struggling. For students, studying is their own choice made
after a careful consideration and checking the pros and cons. For kids, studying is what they are
obliged to do. They do not even understand the importance of education and do only what their
parents tell them. Frequently, they take education like a punishment or like an obligation that
brings them nothing but a plenty of negative emotions. However, a teacher can always change the
attitude of kids to the studying process. Creating a comfortable classroom atmosphere, a teacher can
motivate kids for better results.
Why positive atmosphere is important
The relations between a kid and a teacher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It takes days and sometimes even weeks to find a mutual language with all kids. The prior task for
a teacher is to keep friendly and positive atmosphere no matter what happens. Using this approach,
the desired result will be reached in the shortest possible time. To fasten this process, follow the
basic strategies and tips that help re build the atmosphere into the most appropriate for effective
studying.
1.Never stay passive
All your efforts to create a comfortable atmosphere in your class have no sense if you stay
passive during the classes. Add dynamics to the way you behave in the classroom, do not be afraid
to make jokes and discuss with your students or schoolchildren the most complicated issues that are
interesting for them. Every time you prepare for a lesson, you need to remember that the theme and
ideas of these lessons should be interesting for kids. You need to find a way to present any
information in a way that will capture their attention. Active position of a teacher is a strong
motivation for kids and students. When they see how deeply you are interested in your subject,
they unintentionally adopt this attitude and also become

Impact Of My Grandmother On My Life
Who in your life has caused you to become a better person? For some people it s a parent who
has shaped you since the day that you were born. For others it s the stranger who always says hi
to you when you see them on the street. Maybe it s the couple down the block who struggles to
make ends meet, but always has a positive attitude. It may even be the person who has hurt you the
most. These people make us a better person even when we least expect it. I never realized the
effect my grandmother had on my life until she stopped recognizing me.
My grandmother s parents immigrated to Johnstown, Pennsylvania from a small town in Poland
close to Warsaw. As a young child she spoke two languages Polish at home and English when she
went to school or with friends. Life started out very difficult and never really got any easier.. Her
life continued to get worse when she lost her husband in a mining accident and her eldest son to a
car accident. My grandma used to tell me the stories of their deaths, and how it taught her how
strong she really is. She turned the hardships in her life into something beautiful, something joyous,
and something sentimental. These moments shaped her into who she is, but they do not define her.
These moments that she shares allow me to move on and find something joyful about every
situation even if they are not be ideal. When my grandfather passed away my grandmother gave me
the strength to look on the brighter side of the situation instead of the sad side.

The Crucifixion Was A Form Of Capital Punishment Essay
The song says, They are nailed to the cross, they are nailed, the cross, oh how much he was
willing to bear, with great anguish and loss, Jesus went to the cross and he carried my sins with
him there. You can believe that Jesus died and rose again, you might even believe that he was
crucified and that he is coming again for his church, but if you don t believe that you have to be
crucified with him, then you have a serious problem. My brothers and sisters, for a Christian, taking
up your cross and following God is not an option, its a requirement. I pray that you find
encouragement to continue on your journey in this section.
N If you do any kind of research history will tell you that the crucifixion was a form of capital
punishment where the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden beam, I m sure in many cases, they
have been severely beaten and wounded before being left to hang for days until they eventually die
from exhaustion and asphyxiation. As cruel and painful as this sounds, the crucifixion is still being
used in some countries today as a death penalty. We know some information about being crucified,
but few understand how brutal and cruel it is.
To say that you are being crucified with Christ and not expect to go through any kind of sufferingis
simply unheard of. Lets take a closer look at the crucifixion, I think it s important for us to realize
what happens during crucifixion so we can know what we are up against.
It starts with the wrists, being nailed

Sean Parker (creator of Napster) has a playlist he personally curates on Spotify on behalf of the
company called Hipster International. This playlist featured pop star Lorde, before she hit the
Billboard 100 charts and this playlist is said to have helped her get to that point (Bertoni, 2013).
Of course, while good for her, there are millions of other artists that will never get to that point.
With curation also comes favoritism. Being influential and encouraging to your users could also
appear as if you have an agenda. Having playlists available, that are generated by your friends
just as prominent as playlists generated by Spotify tastemakers should fix some of these issues. It
will be difficult for some users not to see curated playlists as just record label agendas and additional

Capstone Of Reflection
Reflecting on the Journey
Throughout my two semesters in CommSkills 1015 and 1016, I have learned a lot, and
developed academically. The countless essays and speeches have helped me to become a better
writer, and speaker. Prior to my time in CommSkills, I would write without a goal. I would sit
down and words would go down on paper, but they never truly accomplished the goals that I had
while writing. Through attention to MAP, attention to detail and practice I have come a long way.
The Integrative Learning Rubric is a way of measuring how well students can use the knowledge
they acquire from their studies in real life. Throughout my year in CommSkills, I have greatly
developed my ability to reflect and self assess. When I started at Virginia... Show more content on

It is also important that you are able to see these strengths and weaknesses in aspects of your life
outside of writing papers and speeches. Once I realized why I struggled with procrastination, I was
able to take advantage of it. I knew that I would always prefer to be doing something active so I
used this knowledge to get a lot of hours in volunteering with the Special Olympics. Instead of
procrastinating by going for a run or to the gym, I went to special olympics events on tuesdays
and thursdays. I was not required to do more than ten hours of service work for class, but once I
started I truly could not stop. I loved and still love, taking the time to support people with
disabilities, but it did not only help them. I always leave Special Olympics events with a refreshed
perspective on life. It puts into perspective both your happiness and the daily struggles we all face.
If my friends at Special Olympics bowling can come every week with a smile on their face and put
their best foot forward, so can I. We all face our own problems in life and working with the Special
Olympics always redefines my concept of what is possible and what is

Can T Ask Cant Tell Analysis
In the article Can t Ask, Can t Tell: How institutional Review Boards Keep Sex in the Closet by
Janice M Irvine, the social scientists are frustrated with the Institutional Review Boards for
stymied research about sexuality. The IRBs believe that the topic of sexuality is too sensitive
for studies, and it is has been considered to be one of the special cases that do not want to present
to the public. For decades, the IRBs works are heavily influenced by the Belmont s three
principles: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice. However, sexuality has become one of the
topics that the IRBs would automatically decline because they believe that it is not qualified any of
the Belmont s three principles. In 2011, Irvine conducted a survey

Compare And Contrast Boem Vs Beowulf
BEOWULF: THE FILM (2007) VERSUS THE POEM
The film version of Beowulf is more enjoyable than the translated portion of the epic poem, due to
the eventful plot. In the beginning of the film Beowulf told of a graphic flashback of him battling
sea monsters. This gives an effective understanding of how strong and courageous Beowulf is. This
is not spoken of in the translated portion. Also, in the film Beowulf falsely claims that he killed
Grendel s mother. This fabrication, told by Beowulf soon influences major events of the film that
were not included in the poem. Lastly, conversations with Grendel s mother were included in the
film. This provides the film more of an exhilarating climax that is not given in the translated
portion. Essentially the

Wormy Vs Wormy
Before starting the observations, the planarians had to be cut into sections using a scalpel, in
this case, they were cut into three. To make them easier to cut, the were chilled on ice to slow
them down. The flatworms were then put into separate labelled petri dishes, where they were
then placed in a cool and dark area. After a few days, the worms grew and were easier to observe.
From this lab, it can be concluded that planarians will regenerate no matter how they were cut.
Wormy and Wormy 2.0, were both trisected transversely and were thought to grow into six new
planarians, three coming from each worm, and one of them possessing two heads. The results
observed for Wormy fully supported the hypothesis, and the three new planarians had a head,...

These flatworms are bi directionally regenerating creatures which means a cut body can form a
brand new tail from the posterior cut and a new head from the anterior cut. Using this skill, they
are able to clone themselves, and reproduce asexually. While taking down observations, there were
tail droppings. Tail droppings occur when a planaria attaches itself to a surface and pulls away,
separating into two pieces. This is one form of reproduction, the other form is called fragmentation.
Fragmentation is just like tail droppings, but instead of separating into two pieces, the tail dropping
divides up into more pieces. Furthermore, planarians have an abundant amount of stem cell like
cells that are capable of converting into the cell needed for regenerating tissue, and are available
when it is required. When they lose a portion of itself, pale white coloured cells filled with stem
cell like cells starts to form, this is blastema. Those cells will transform into the desired cell and
will begin to divide, which will result in a new body part to replace the missing part. This could
be seen during the lab, the worms were distinctly transparent, or a pale colour, in the areas where
they were dissected. These flatworms are organisms, and organisms need to eat, or get nutrients.
Once their head is cut off and they are just a tail, it is really easy for them to obtain food. The cells
in the tail will self destruct to provide energy for the growing planarian until the head and tail are
proportionate to each other, where it will then continue feeding and growing like before it got
transected. Humans too, are capable of regeneration, but just to a certain extent. Everyday the
human body creates more blood, new skin, and much more, which is regeneration. Unfortunately,
limbs regenerating is unthinkable. That is why studying animals like the planarians and

  • 2. The Governing Body Of Soccer The People s Game Soccer Football, fГєtbol, fuГџball, soccer. No matter what the name, it is a sport that is played throughout the world. The current governing body of soccer is the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Just like any large cooperation, they are not without fault when it comes to integrity issues, such as the recent corruption scandal in 2015. Nonetheless, the idea of the game was created to be pure in order to have friendly competition. The concept of the game in which is known today was established in 1863 in England. However, the origins of the game have been scientific traced dating back to the second and third centuries in China (FIFA). In 1863, the game that was played centuries before split into two factions; one faction continued to use their hands and became rugby, the other became soccer. Breaking the soccer down to the basics of today; each team is allowed to have 11 players on the field, goal keepers are the only ones allowed to use their hands, and the objective is to get the spherical ball into the other team s goal without using their hands. The evolution of the game has allowed soccer become the best sport in the world because it teaches teamwork, goals, and camaraderie. The word teamwork is used very regularly; however, it is much easier said than done, especially when it comes to sports. Teamwork is about remaining positive, having trust, accepting responsibility, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both types of of equal worth to the cause of the gospel. The three main parts are Pioneer missionaries, settler missionaries and how they are similar. First, pioneer missionaries such as the famous David livingstone pave the way for settler missionaries by planting the precious seeds of the gospel in the hearts of the people as they move from village to village, spreading the truth. David contributed Many things to the missionfield in Africa by mapping the inland and helping to stop the fast growing slave industry. A result on the next page shows that at sales price of $21.50, the sales quantity rises to 1,140,085 units and net profit turns to positive for the first time. Besides, if a company continues to reduce the price further, at the point of $15.50, it is where the company s profit on product 101 is in the highest position as it gives the net profit of $3,901,908. However, there are several factors for the company to choose its pricing strategy. In this case, it may be better if the company choose to sell its product at $21.50 instead of $15.50. This is due to the fact that price cutting appears to be not a good strategy in this industry. If every player in the same industry starts to lower the price of their products, every company will end up having the low price, which in turns lead to a low profit margin. Moreover, referring to the calculation in a below table, it also implies that if the price is lower than $12, sales will not be able to cover the variable cost incurred, thus it will bring about a loss in net profit. |Sale price |Unit sold |% Cash |Actual | | | |Discount |Sale Price | ... • 6. Baseball Is A Sport Of Baseball There are only two seasons, winter and baseball (Veeck). For most people, baseball is a way of life, not just a sport they play or watch. The history of baseball goes all the way back to the 1800s, and is a sport played in many countries around the world. Baseball is one of America s most popular sports, and it would not be called America s Pastime if it wasn t. The rules of baseball might be simple to grasp, but the game in itself is very difficult. Baseball has history that cannot be forgotten and rivalries in the American and National Leagues that cannot be ignored, these things fuel peoples burning desires within to play and watch this thrilling game. What is Baseball? A game played on a large field by two teams of nine players who try to score runs by hitting a small ball with a bat and then running to each of the four bases without being put out (Merriam Webster). In baseball, you not only have someone hitting the ball, but you also have someone who pitches the ball to the batter and someone who fields the ball after it is hit. In order to get a batter or runner out, you have to tag them with the ball in your glove, catch the ball in the air, strike out the batter, or touch the base with the ball in your glove. Each batter gets four balls and three strikes which determines whether the batter walks or strikes out. These are the basic rules of baseball that have been enforced by umpires for over a century. More and more people are coming to realize the negative impact our actions within the current global take make waste economic model are having on the environment. Environmental movements that advocate against the earth s continued degradation instruct individuals, communities, and governments that it is critical to take action now. According to Prochaska and DiClement, the only way to increase the efficacy of any given call to action, however, is if the suggested change in behaviour is appropriate to where a person is currently at within the Transtheoretical Stages of Change model. Behaviour modification, from day to day habits to a more fundamental lifestyle overhaul, is often challenging to the point of failure. This happens because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Second Stage Contemplation As individuals begin to discover how their actions negatively impact the environment, mindfulness and dissonance grows. If this dissonance is complimented by a sense of empowered self efficacy, and the realization that change brings benefits, these ingredients often result in the progression to the contemplation stage. At this stage, for example, the suggestion to eat organic, locally grown and produced food is a more appropriate call to action. The contemplation stage is marked by ambivalency, but the willingness exists to weigh the pros and cons, and the idea will not be immediately dismissed as an inconvenient expense. People in this stage need to know that there actions make a difference. Education and an unconditional support system can help a person progress through this stage. The Third Stage Preparation Once people conclude that the benefits of change outweigh the inconveniences, they are likely to progress to the preparation stage. People in this position believe global warming is real, for instance, and will begin to feel deeply about their own contributory actions. • 8. Network, Virtual Local Area Networks ( Vlans ) In the past, companies were hampered by the cost, performance, and security issues that are associated with local area networks or LANs. LANs must be connected physically to switches which means that each LAN must have its own switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The virtualized version of the LANs, virtual local area networks (VLANs), allows users to invest in only one switch (prtl.uhcl.edu, 2016, para. 13). The VLAN is used in a virtual data center environment to separate a single LAN into more than one network while being physically connected to only one switch. One advantage of VLANs is that network administrators can now sort devices by whatever criteria they require without physical location being an issue. Different VLANs can be set for different groups or departments within the same LAN. Performance is improved because, when the LAN is broken up into VLANs, it is not receiving broadcasts from all of the devices (certbros.com, 2015, para. 4). Cost is decreased because separate physical switches are not required for VLANs. A security benefit is provided because VLANs can be configured to accommodate the different security levels needed, and the administrator can choose whether or not to allow the VLANs to communicate with each other (certbros.com, 2015, para. 6). VRFs Virtualization is also used in the data center to acquire more routing instances without acquiring more hardware (Santana, 2014. P. 90). This technology is known as Virtual Routing and ... • 12. A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches of the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable biostratigraphic tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988; Martin Closas Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the focus of intensive work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the dating, biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study attempts a comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late JurassicEarly Cretaceoussequence at Messak escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this type of microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never been studied for charophytes beforehand. • 13. Tariffs on Imports In simplest terms, a tariff is a tax. It adds to the cost of imported goods and is one of several trade policies that a country can enact. Tariffs are often created to protect infant industries and developing economies, but are also used by more advanced economies with developed industries. Here are five of the top reasons tariffs are used: Protecting Domestic Employment The levying of tariffs is often highly politicized. The possibility of increased competition from imported goods can threaten domestic industries. These domestic companies may fire workers or shift production abroad to cut costs, which means higher unemployment and a less happy electorate. The unemployment argument often shifts to domestic industries complaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 15% is a price increase on the value of the automobile, so a $10,000 vehicle now costs $11,500 to Japanese consumers. This price increase protects domestic producers from being undercut, but also keeps prices artificially high for Japanese car shoppers. Non tariff barriers to trade include: Licenses A license is granted to a business by the government, and allows the business to import a certain type of good into the country. For example, there could be a restriction on imported cheese, and licenses would be granted to certain companies allowing them to act as importers. This creates a restriction on competition, and increases prices faced by consumers. Import Quotas An import quota is a restriction placed on the amount of a particular good that can be imported. This sort of barrier is often associated with the issuance of licenses. For example, a country may place a quota on the volume of imported citrus fruit that is allowed. Voluntary Export Restraints (VER) This type of trade barrier is voluntary in that it is created by the exporting country rather than the importing one. A voluntary export restraint is usually levied at the behest of the importing country, and could be accompanied by a reciprocal VER. For example, Brazil could place a VER on the exportation of sugar to Canada, based on a request by Canada. Canada could then place a VER on the exportation of coal to Brazil. This increases the price of both coal and sugar, but protects the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Acid-Base Titration Lab Report Mariam SyMay 8, 2014 Acid Base Titration Lab Write up Introduction: Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration. Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution: (Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the unknown solution. The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the solution is acidic or pink which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The report includes areas such as defining an IPO, the performance of IPO s, the current market for IPO s, and the process of buying an IPO. Therefore, the feasibility report is directed at the retail or non professional investor who may be engaged in purchasing IPO s. I look to determine if the underlying facts create certainty that these instruments are profitable currently and in the long run. It appears through study that investors have increased their consumption of initial public offerings since the 2007 2008 financial crisis. Many investors believe purchasing IPO s can create quick realized gains. However, it appears that the performance of these issues has lagged the broader market, which in my opinion should steal zeal from these risky investments. The figures throughout this report should indicate and reaffirm that not all IPOs, whether popular or unpopular, will benefit the professional or non professional investor. It must be noted that not everything is the same in financial markets and results may vary significantly from this report in a single incident or sample study. This also gives the people who found him a gateway to a larger domain of opportunities to obtain money. In the short story, A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings. Gabriel Marquez, develops the character of the Angel through the use of symbols, character, and plot to demonstrate encounters with those who are weak and how the Angel overcomes adversity through courage and strength. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francis has done an excellent job of using the screenplay to demonstrate the last evil, which is madness: the dehumanizations of oneself. Right before the crew lands, one of the crew members dropped an acid tab. Francis uses that one line to create the screenplay for the whole sequence. In the first moments, the Camera captures hazy dark scenes of the bridge, with shadows lurking around, and bright colorful Christmas lights around the bridge. Francis makes this scene look as it was a circus, with vague distorted music in the background, and flashes of light to see the characters faces. This creates a window into what we see the soldiers experience we get, utter madness. Once the crew members descend into the trenches we see very weird and out of place shots. The first film shot is a group of black soldiers listening to Jimi Hendrix and smoking pot. The Jimi Hendrix back sound is also supposed to represent what the crew member that dropped acid is hearing and feeling. Coincidentally, Francis is also portraying his acid trip externally with the vivid lights, and explosions. The next stop in the trench, there s a soldier firing into darkness thinking that he s shooting at the enemy but it s really his own troops. Francis really films this and uses his screenplay to make this look so hellish. There s screaming in the background, distorted music, people yelling over the intercom, and loud explosions, but ... • 43. Misogyny Pervades The Picture Aeschylus Sophocles ... Misogyny pervades the picture Aeschylus, Aristophanes, and Sophocles paint of Athenian society. In their literature, however, female characters catalyze plot by challenging this picture. Such characters from Sophocles Antigone to Aristophanes Lysistrata face grim consequences for acting independently. Clytemnestraand Cassandrafrom Aeschylus s Agamemnonexemplify this archetype of autonomy and destruction. When they confront injustice, male characters perceive them as vindictive and hysterical. This paper will compare the standards of justice Aeschylus s society imposes on men and women. I will argue that Clytemnestra and Cassandra are protectors of divine justice who reject subservience and thereby transcend the sexism of their society. The women in Agamemnon are as powerful as men but slaves to the divine. Clytemnestra s early sacrifices parallel her vengeful slaughter of Agamemnon. After Clytemnestra makes sacrifices in celebration of Greece s victory, the chorus cries, hope glows through your victims (Agamemnon, 658). They reference both hope for Greece s victory and hope for avenging Iphigenia s death. Sacrifices of thanksgiving make Clytemnestra an ambassador of victory and the sacrifice of Agamemnon makes her an ambassador of Justice. Agamemnon s slaughter is an act in the name of heavenly Justice; it is a retributive sacrifice to Fate. Despite its moral significance, the murder of the war hero invokes a cycle of death within the house of Agamemnon. Like the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the story Brave New World by Aldous Huxley the author presents the process of cloning by using hatcheries instead of natural reproduction, which no longer exists, to create individuals. Individuals in society are given different doses of lethal drugs to alter development so that they meet the standards based on their pre determined social classes. The concept of cloningis used to propagate another organism or cellto create an exact copy of its original without the use of natural reproduction. • 46. Factors That Affect The Process Of Recidivism Several significant problems affect the success or failure of ex offenders reentry back into society. Overcrowding of prison populations and the high recidivism rates have created a cycle of incarceration for ex offenders as they come and go through correctional systems. Each year, more than 600,000 ex offenders are released back into communities nationwide from state and federal prisons (Petersilia, 2003). It is estimated that nearly 95% of state ex offenders will be released from prisoninto communities where they often find it difficult to obtain employment due to criminal records, limited education, and minimal vocational skills (Holzer, Raphael, Stoll, 2003). The process of prisoner reentry will be examined along with the policies surrounding the Indiana Reentry Facility, the traits of the Indiana Reentry Facility inmates, environmental factors that caused prisoners to return, and the financial situation of the communities where the highest number of returning prisoners occurs, in order to determine if the Indiana Reentry Facility actually reduces recidivism. Past studies have shown that is suggested that roughly 70 percent of prison inmates released are re arrested within the first three years post release and almost 50 percent are ultimately returned back to prison. Still, most of the research now focuses only on recidivism and ignores that recidivism is currently affected by post prison reintegration and adjustment back into the community. • 49. Impact Of My Grandmother On My Life Who in your life has caused you to become a better person? For some people it s a parent who has shaped you since the day that you were born. For others it s the stranger who always says hi to you when you see them on the street. Maybe it s the couple down the block who struggles to make ends meet, but always has a positive attitude. It may even be the person who has hurt you the most. These people make us a better person even when we least expect it. I never realized the effect my grandmother had on my life until she stopped recognizing me. My grandmother s parents immigrated to Johnstown, Pennsylvania from a small town in Poland close to Warsaw. As a young child she spoke two languages Polish at home and English when she went to school or with friends. Life started out very difficult and never really got any easier.. Her life continued to get worse when she lost her husband in a mining accident and her eldest son to a car accident. My grandma used to tell me the stories of their deaths, and how it taught her how strong she really is. She turned the hardships in her life into something beautiful, something joyous, and something sentimental. These moments shaped her into who she is, but they do not define her. These moments that she shares allow me to move on and find something joyful about every situation even if they are not be ideal. When my grandfather passed away my grandmother gave me the strength to look on the brighter side of the situation instead of the sad side. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Crucifixion Was A Form Of Capital Punishment Essay The song says, They are nailed to the cross, they are nailed, the cross, oh how much he was willing to bear, with great anguish and loss, Jesus went to the cross and he carried my sins with him there. You can believe that Jesus died and rose again, you might even believe that he was crucified and that he is coming again for his church, but if you don t believe that you have to be crucified with him, then you have a serious problem. My brothers and sisters, for a Christian, taking up your cross and following God is not an option, its a requirement. I pray that you find encouragement to continue on your journey in this section. N If you do any kind of research history will tell you that the crucifixion was a form of capital punishment where the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden beam, I m sure in many cases, they have been severely beaten and wounded before being left to hang for days until they eventually die from exhaustion and asphyxiation. As cruel and painful as this sounds, the crucifixion is still being used in some countries today as a death penalty. We know some information about being crucified, but few understand how brutal and cruel it is. • 55. Wormy Vs Wormy Before starting the observations, the planarians had to be cut into sections using a scalpel, in this case, they were cut into three. To make them easier to cut, the were chilled on ice to slow them down. The flatworms were then put into separate labelled petri dishes, where they were then placed in a cool and dark area. After a few days, the worms grew and were easier to observe. From this lab, it can be concluded that planarians will regenerate no matter how they were cut. Wormy and Wormy 2.0, were both trisected transversely and were thought to grow into six new planarians, three coming from each worm, and one of them possessing two heads. The results observed for Wormy fully supported the hypothesis, and the three new planarians had a head,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These flatworms are bi directionally regenerating creatures which means a cut body can form a brand new tail from the posterior cut and a new head from the anterior cut. Using this skill, they are able to clone themselves, and reproduce asexually. While taking down observations, there were tail droppings. Tail droppings occur when a planaria attaches itself to a surface and pulls away, separating into two pieces. This is one form of reproduction, the other form is called fragmentation. Fragmentation is just like tail droppings, but instead of separating into two pieces, the tail dropping divides up into more pieces. Furthermore, planarians have an abundant amount of stem cell like cells that are capable of converting into the cell needed for regenerating tissue, and are available when it is required. When they lose a portion of itself, pale white coloured cells filled with stem cell like cells starts to form, this is blastema. Those cells will transform into the desired cell and will begin to divide, which will result in a new body part to replace the missing part. This could be seen during the lab, the worms were distinctly transparent, or a pale colour, in the areas where they were dissected. These flatworms are organisms, and organisms need to eat, or get nutrients. Once their head is cut off and they are just a tail, it is really easy for them to obtain food. The cells in the tail will self destruct to provide energy for the growing planarian until the head and tail are proportionate to each other, where it will then continue feeding and growing like before it got transected. Humans too, are capable of regeneration, but just to a certain extent. Everyday the human body creates more blood, new skin, and much more, which is regeneration. Unfortunately, limbs regenerating is unthinkable. That is why studying animals like the planarians and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
