The Health Of Our Citizens
The health of our citizens is abysmally poor in comparison to previous generations and the health of
West Virginians ranks among the lowest in the nation. According to recent data from the Behavioral
Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) in 2010, WV ranked sixth the nation in obesity and first in
the nation in diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular morbidity. This health crises doesn t just
affect adults but children. The lifestyle habits impact our health are formed often we are very young.
Depressed economy coupled with many areas of geographic isolation, makes it difficult for West
Virginia s children and families to maintain an adequate diet. Poverty also has a negative impact on
the quality of the meals that can be provided. Families often resort to inexpensive, low nutrition, high
calorie meals. National Survey of Children s Health data revealed that 47.4% of WV children ages 10
17 living in families with incomes of less than 100% of the federal poverty level (FPL) were either
overweight or obese.
In addition to problems with health and nutrition, WV has dramatic problems related to alcohol,
tobacco and other drugs. It is estimated that there will be around 8,399 DUI s, and 100 deaths due to
intoxicated driving this year. Statistics also show that there will be 509 deaths related to alcohol abuse,
2,609 tobacco related deaths, and 101 deaths due to illicit drug use.

Interview With Croatia Research Paper
For this assignment, I had the pleasure to interview Jane, from Split, Croatia. The second largest city
in Croatia most well known for its appealing baches fortresslike complex at its center. Jane is 20 years
old and attends University of California, Santa Barbara, where I had the privilege to meet her through
a mutual friend.
Jane was 13 years old when she, her mother and father first stepped foot into the United States. Jane s
family a traditional one, a mother and a father, her father a project manager for the IT Specialist at a
hospital, her mother now a financial adviser, but when she first arrived at the United States, she sold

they take their time there is no rush, verse here where people are so caught up in this desire to have
what they want when they want it. Everything is moving at the speed of light, from flying instead of
driving, online shopping instead of physically going to the store and even social media, tweeting and
liking pictures versus face to face interaction, people are always doing something, always waiting on
the next thing to come. Jane said that was also a hard concept to adapt to. Aside from the fast pace life
American s live, special events in Croatia are differed from here. In Croatia turning 18 is as excited
and build up as turning 21, mainly because being 18 is the same as being 21. Jane also shares how

Socrates s Views On Socrates
Socrates could undeniably be described as one of the most influential philosophers and greatest
thinker of his time. His views can be interpreted many different ways, but most would agree that he
sought out wisdom and truth for the betterment of himself and his community. Though Socrates was
one of the most intelligent men of his time, he was very foolish to never write his own book. For this
reason, after his passing, one of his students, Plato, began to write a book about his teachings and
ideas called Plato: Five Dialogues. In this book, we examined Plato s Meno in which Meno asks
Socrates can virtue be taught? but, Socrates quickly transforms this question into what is virtue? . This
questions ultimately consumes the entirety of this dialogue, and in the end, Meno proves to lack
originality in his arguments by simply agreeing with each thing Socrates states. While Meno thought
he knew the answer to this question, Socrates provides a different opinion. Although Meno does not
learn anything in the course of this dialogue, Socrates still remains one of the most influential teachers
and philosophers of his time. In this essay I shall focus on the question of who is Socrates, next I will
examine what teaching and learning really mean, and finally I will conclude with the fact that Meno
does not actually learn anything from Socrates.
Socrates, born in 470 BC in Athens, Greece, knew from a very young age the profound love and
passion he carried for philosophy. His unendingly

which could potentially damage the chance for a second run to occur. The Land Speed record is
calculated from average times of the car over two runs, completed within the space of one hour. The
ability to control the cars stopping, and therefore the turn round time, is key to the success of the

Reality Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Have you ever wondered what was the intention of Shakespeare writing the play Romeo and Juliet? If
you didn t know already, Romeo, a Montague, is at the age of sixteen and Juliet, a Capulet is at the age
of thirteen. The play starts off with Romeo first being rejected by Rosaline and soon went to a feast
along with Mercutio and Benvolio s assistance. During the feast in the Capulet s house, Romeo met
Juliet and they fell in love with each other. With the newly found love, Juliet, Romeo soon forgot
about Rosaline. But one obstacle stood in the way of their love. It was the long feud with the
Montague and the Capulet s family. A solution for their love was to get married in secret without their
families knowing. At last, the play, Romeo and Juliet, is not a story of love but ... Show more content

the clear dew, due to his depressed state, and is holding the emotions inside causing the tear to become
unclear and contrast with the dew. Dew is clear and is transparent, expressing its emotions freely. This
quote also demonstrates that Romeo is regressing because he is not accepting the reality. Therefore,
Romeo makes himself an artificial night to keep the sun from shining the truth of love and staying in
the moment thus not letting go. This indicates that Romeo and Juliet are a mockery of teenage
impulsiveness because teenagers react more strongly toward situations than adults, Romeo reacted to
his rejection more strongly causing himself to be isolated from the

Why Do People Join Organized Religion
Question 1
I honestly think that people, in general, want to feel a sense of belonging and that there is something
greater than themselves guiding us through our day to day lives. In many instances, people believe in a
God/Entity because it is a part of their culture and is held in high regard. Both in years past to present
religion has played a major role in the way we as people view ourselves and each other. An example
of why people join an organized religion would be for the purpose of social status. An example of that
I would say is Scientology. From the outside looking in it really looks like this group is particularly
seeking out the rich and famous to join the church. There are Scientology churches that are
specifically for their rich and famous members to attend. Yet the less fortunate members are treated
with less grandeur. That really seems like it s all about the status/money the church gains from its
members and the status the members gain by joining this church. I bring this up because the original
idea of joining a religion was to worship the most high and to learn to live by the rules set forth for its
follower. The majority of believers are believers because the religion was handed down to them and
they genuinely feel that the belief and practices are right for them and their families. Some individuals
would say what is church or religion itself, isn t it all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Dogs Should Not Be Judged
Imagine a world where people were based off their race, family, religion or whatever makes them
different.Imagine a world that bases you off of that information and bans you from somewhere or
something just because of a stereotype.I know this might sound strange but instead of people replace
those with dogs and instead of race or religion its breeds. Dangerous dog breeds such as pit
bulls, rottweilers, and even german shepherds have been suffering from these stereotypes because
people believe they are too treacherous to live in the same place as them.I believe that these
Treacherous dog breeds should not be judged because on most occasion it is the owner who trained
them to be aggressive or to protect and they were breed to be family dogs but that all changed when
people started using them for wrong.
These dangerous dog breeds have been judged and banned from some

Summary Of The Book Between Shades Of Gray
Generally, an author will write in accordance with their personal beliefs and opinions. Therefore,
anything an author writes will lean towards their viewpoint on any particular issue. Books written
about heavy topics, such as war, will have many opinions in them. Whether they are written to express
thoughts, or if they are just present in the story, you cannot deny the existence of them. Between
Shades of Gray is no different. Ruta Sepetys has personally seen the effects of Lithuanians in World
War II, and knows how bad the truth is. With this book, she explores the horrors faced by the Baltic
Sea nations under Soviet rule. One of the many social issues examined in Between Shades of Gray is
the practise of forced deportation. In history, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

enemy to Siberia, they exterminated them in death camps. Even though the Soviets and the Nazis were
enemies, they had practises in place that were too close to be safe. They were enemies, but they were
as bad as each other, you couldn t pick one of the other. We re dealing with two devils who both want
to rule hell . Through the use of a metaphor , the author has stated this fact. It makes us, as readers,
realise just how bad the situation is. Stalin and Hitler are both powerful men, but instead of trying to
help their people in a way that made sense and influence the world positively, they were acting as if
huge populations of people were just toys to play with. In the book, Sepetys writes, ...Dividing

Space Shuttle Challenger Research Paper
The Space Shuttle Challenger was originally a test vehicle for the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA). In 1979, NASA ordered Challenger to be converted to a space rated orbiter,
which consisted of massive disassembly and restructuring of the orbiter. It was delivered back to
NASA as the second orbiter in their fleet of Space Shuttles in July 1982, where it was launched on its
first mission on 4 April 1983. Crew members conducted the first spacewalk of the Space Shuttle
program on this mission, and subsequent missions saw many other firsts for space exploration history

Initial thrust built up while the shuttle was secured to the launch pad, and it was released without issue
and traveled upward as designed (5). No issues were noticed by the crew, officials, or observers at the
time of launch. Subsequent review of camera footage, however, reveals smoke emanating at a cyclic
rate of approximately 4 puffs per second from the aft field joint (AFJ) on the right SRB. As the shuttle
left the launch pad, the smoke dissipated from view. The next 55 seconds occurred without issue for
Challenger. All systems worked as programmed; notably, the automated guidance system was
particularly active on this flight due to record high wind shears experienced by the shuttle, yet
continued to be very effective. At 58.788 seconds after launch, flame appeared at the same location on
the starboard SRB s AFJ as the smoke had at launch. This flame continued to spread to the external
tank (ET) connection ring, then to the ET itself. It breached the ET, which housed liquid hydrogen
(LH2) and liquid oxygen (LO2) fuel for the shuttle s main engines. A large, visible flash surrounded
the stern of the shuttle system, all while the crew carried out normal navigational maneuvers. The
shuttle s engines shut down 73.5 seconds after launch due to lack of fuel, and all signals were lost at
74 seconds following a bright flash around the nose of the ET and orbiter

The Definition Of Abortion In The United States
The definition of abortion from google is the the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most
often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is when a mother chooses to take the
life of her unborn child because either they do not want to have a baby, or they are pregnant as a result
of rape. Having an abortion is wrong because it kills an unborn baby. In 1973, the US Supreme Court
made abortions legal. Since then, there have been over fifty five million reported abortions performed
in the United States. In 2008, it was estimated that there are about 1.2 million abortions performed
each year. People who are pro abortion or pro choice, say that it is okay for a woman to abort her baby

The Qualification of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca as a...
The Qualification of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca as a Gothic Novel One of mankind s most
valuable gifts is the ability to feel emotions and be able to react to them in a variety of ways. One of
these emotions can be recognized as horror. Horror can be directly related as an immense sensation of
fear, anxiety, and despair. Horror is adored by some and abhorred by others. Most importantly, there
exist many sources for frightening media and information. One genre of literature that tends to provide
horror can be known as Gothic Literature. Within this genre, many books serve as accurate
representations. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier most definitely qualifies as a Gothic novel due to its
precise portrayal of multiple elements of Gothic Literature such as eerie settings, presence of
distressed characters, and unfortunate events combined with bad weather. Before examining Rebecca s
validity as an accurate representation of Gothic literature, it is imperative for one to understand the

Frequently Asked Questions About Orthodontics
Do you still have some questions about how orthodontic treatment works? Let s answer some common
concerns our patients usually express.
How long does it take to get my teeth straightened?
The amount of time required for treatment is directly dependent upon your specific situation and the
method of treatment used. While traditional braces may take two or three years, Invisalign can be
completed in about 12 to 18 months. Fastbraces works even faster, often offering results in about 6 to
12 months.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
Again, the answer to this question largely depends on your situation and what type of treatment is
required. Typically, the longer your treatment, the most costly it becomes. However, many insurance
plans cover the cost of braces. We also offer great financing options that should make it easy to make
sure you are taken care of.
Are braces painful?
All of our braces options are safe and produce only mild levels of discomfort. None of our orthodontic
options are painful. When you have your wires adjusted for traditional braces, you may feel a bit of
discomfort lasting up to about a week due to the pressure of tightened wires. With Fastbraces or
Invisalign, even that discomfort is reduced.

Essay On The Composition Of Capital Inflows
In figure 3, Cho and Rhee (2014) show the composition of capital flows for all 10 Asian Countries
excluding Hong Kong and Singapore. While the FDI was quiet stable, the portfolio investment part
decreased from 2.2% of GDP in 2007 to 2.9% in 2008. Also, the other investment part of capital
inflows, like bank loans, declined since 2007; nevertheless, it rebounded over than the pre crisis level
and became the major source of capital inflows after GFC. Cho and Rhee (2014) explain the
composition of capital inflows by individual country in figure 4. It is easily to notice that both
financial hubs, Hong Kong and Singapore, have more than 10% of GDP which was led by other

Increasing money impacts Asian economy on capital flows and on either exchange rates or housing
prices significantly. The result of this section is quiet interesting. The QE of US brought huge capital
inflows into Asian economies. There are two ways that it can influence: 1) a large amount money
flows into the emerging markets to buy their currencies which investors expected they would increase
values relative to USD; then, the expectation caused the appreciation of currencies. 2) however, if the
central banks of some certain economies try to stabilize their exchange rates not to appreciate, the
effect of QE would show in the housing markets, the most important household assets in most Asian
countries. In real terms, Cho and Rhee (2014) indicates in the figure 5 that the housing prices nearly
double in Hong Kong and India since the fourth quarter in 2008 to 2012. Also, in Taiwan, the housing
prices rose by almost 60%. In Malaysia, it increased by around 30%. Economies with stable or rigid
exchanges suffer from large increasing in the housing prices. Figure 6, calculated by Cho and Rhee
(2014), demonstrates the relationship between exchange rates and housing prices. From the figure 6, it
is obvious that Japan is an outlier. As a result, we show two situations in the figure 6, with and without
Japan. Including Japan in the calculation, the correlation coefficient between exchange rates and
housing prices is o.84.

Relationship between Exposure to PAH s and Insulin Resistance
1. Introduction
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous environmental toxic compounds with fused
aromatic rings, formed from incomplete combustion of carbon containing materials such as coal and
fossil fuels, cigarette smoking, and food cooking.1,2 Non occupational exposure routes of PAHs
include: inhalation airborne PAHs such as polluted air or cigarette smoking, ingestion of PAH
containing food such as charred and broiled meat, as well as dermal absorption.3,4 PAHs can
bioaccumulate through the food chain because of its nature of resistant to degradation.5 The adverse
health effects of PAHs have been widely studied recently mainly focusing on increasing risks of
chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and a variety of cancers, including respiratory,
renal, and breast cancers.6 15 Recently, several studies suggested an association between ambient air
pollution and type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and ambient fine particulate matter (PM) may induce insulin
resistance.16 21 Since air pollution as well as smoking and red meat consumption were consistently
linked to cardiometabolic diseases such as diabetes,22,23 and all of them are important exposure
sources of PAHs, it s biologically plausible that PAHs may play important roles in the relationship
between cigarette smoking, ambient air pollution and cardiometabolic diseases.
Insulin resistance is a state where there is reduced biological effect for any given concentration of
insulin.24,25 It is regarded

food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I was initially
introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of becoming obese
when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first, but then became
amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this that I decided that
becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The quizzes from The
College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well, making me even more
confident to pursue a career doing my passion.
Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal, I
am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely
indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is enough
to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates in Arts at

Letter To The Colossians
Colossians Introduction: In the passage, The Bible instructs the population that Christ passed away for
the sins of mankind. It provides instruction for all of mankind and allows human beings to accept their
gifts and their faults as well. The reader of the passage is asked to impart these lessons and apply them
into their everyday lives. The letter to the Colossians is intent to both explain Christ s position in the
world and to assert unequivocally that he was indeed the son of God and was the leader of men and
also above all men. Besides being instructive on the philosophical basis of Christianity, it also serves
as a lecture about the dangers of false prophecy and obedience to people besides the lord God himself.
Historical Cultural Background: Following the death of Jesus Christ there was a desire in his followers
to spread his messages and to build the church which would teach his word to as many as would listen
and embrace his ideas. At this time, there was as yet, no unified instruction about how to teach and
spread Christianity. Consequentially, there were many different variations and interpretations of the
words of Christ being cultivated and taught as the very word of the Lord. This was obviously before
the writing of The Bible as a completed work and so those who wanted to participate in the Christian
religion only had access to the stories and instructions through the oral repetition (Lewis 2010). When
information is passed down orally as opposed to the

Formal Communication Analysis
Communication is passing information from one place to another, which is something people do every
day in different ways. People communicate in order to be able to express themselves and to connect to
those around them. They communicate at home with family and friends and fellow staff members at
work. There is many different ways of communicating such as non verbally, verbally and whether it is
done formally or informally.
It is important that communication is used in many professions, especially in Nurse Smith s job. This
is because she will have to interact with a variety of people, like her colleagues or the vulnerable
people that she works with. If she can communicate efficiently with those around her this can mean

When face to face she would have to consider many different factors. Such as her surroundings, if she
is in a noisy environment and she is talking to an elderly person, she may need to consider speaking
louder for them to hear her. If she is speaking to somebody of a different culture to her she may need
to consider the gestures she uses in case in their culture it is offending. She will also have to consider
the language she uses, if she is talking to a fellow staff member they will understand the use of jargon
whereas a service user may not. Furthermore, the language used is also determined whether she is
speaking verbally or non verbally. If she is dealing with someone with a hearing impairment she may
need to consider getting somebody to translate using sign language, or if they have a sight impairment
she may need to provide them with some brail if she needs them to read something. Her body
language and facial expression is also something she needs to consider when working alongside with
vulnerable people, this is because they need to feel at ease and comfortable and this can be done by
her having a relaxed posture or a smile on her face. The personal space between her and the other
person is also important, she wouldn t want them to feel uncomfortable if she were too close to their
body. Most importantly she will have to listen to who she is speaking to. If she

Charlotte Beers At Ogilvy And Mather Essay examples
BACKGROUND
Charlotte Beers became Ogilvy Mather s first outsider CEO after its acquisition by WPP Group Plc in
1991. According to her memo dated May 19th, Beers objective was to re invent the mega agency,
whose inertia and complacency had eroded its competitiveness since the 1980s. In fact, Beer s tenure
at Ogilvy constituted a re creation of the agency, redefining its aims, processes, people, and structure
in reaction to the demands placed by the changing advertising industry.
ANALYSIS
The main issue that confronted Beers was initiating and instituting organizational change at the core
level. She assumed the leadership of Ogilvy at a time when the organization was internally bleeding.
Charismatic founder David Ogilvy s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Ogilvy s chronic failure to institute systems for managing collaboration across regions
contributed to a general lack of financial discipline, lack of focus on cost, and lack of structured
decision making that had cumulative negative effects on the company. As a result, Ogilvy s
competitive advantage as the most local of the internationals, the most international of the locals was
undermined by competitors consistently lower costs.
Compounding Ogilvy s problems was the perception that media advertising was a mere commodity,
leading bargain hunting clients fled to new, lower cost boutique creative shops. Ultimately, despite its
consistent 15% up market performance, and the success of the independent subsidiary Ogilvy Direct,
Ogilvy lost over $100 million in advertising contracts from longtime clients including Unilever, Shell,
Seagram s, Nutrasweet, Campbell, Roy Rogers and American Express. Its net income actually
decreased by 2.8% in 1991.
Clearly, beleaguered Ogilvy s new CEO needed to prevent further decline by instituting changes that
were long overdue:
1. Redefine the corporate vision based on Brand Stewardship;
2. Modify the organizational structure to facilitate collaboration among the company s various
regional and local offices and central office; and
3. Resolve the centralization vs. localization issue more definitively, in terms of authority and
compensation. OBSTACLES TO CHANGE Beers

Health Symptoms And Risk Factors
[Introduction]
All human beings share the innate liking of sweetness since we experience from mother s milk. Now,
sugar and sugar rich foods are the most popular and worldwide consuming (McGee 645). High
fructose corn syrup (HFCS) was introduced to the food and beverage industry as a substitution to
sucrose because of its higher degree of sweetness and the decreasing use of sugar supply during World
War II (White). Over a half century, scientists still dispute the safety of HFCS to health. Some studies
point out that HFCS has equivalent effects as sucrose and does not account for risk factors for health
at normal consumption levels. However, several studies conducted by Standhop, Akar, Hoebel, and
Collison have shown that HFCS shows greatly problems in health. Therefore, people should be aware
of sugar consumption from HFCS because HFCS introduces health symptoms as cardiovascular
disease and risk factors of type II diabetes.
[Talk about HFCS]
Nowadays, Americans tend to consume more excessive sweet products because of the accessibility of
HFCS. Since HFCS can provide sweeter taste than table sugar at the same doses, it rapidly gains
market share in food and drink industry after the late 1960s. HFCS improved functionality and cost
savings and HFCS used in industry rose to a peak in 1999. It is mainly used in process foods including
canned foods, dairy products, cereals, candies, desserts, and beverages. Although people have believed
that HFCS has the same effect on their

Othello Racism Analysis
Isolation, by definition, represent the act of being separated from a general group. In William
Shakespeare s Othello, racism can be seen as a common thing throughout the dialogues in the play.
Almost every single character have made racial slurs towards Othello. The protagonist, Othello is seen
as an isolated individual from the rest of Venice due to his skin colour. Othello feels insecure about his
race. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by
endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of
heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw
that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife.
Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on
Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane
being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone
discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello,
he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast
with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where
two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to
prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello
as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also
have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter
over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine
(I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe
his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). Others racist comment around Othello
exposes his inner insecurity step by step, up to a point that Othello can no longer take it and causes his
downfall.
Internally, Othello s insecurities about

High Tech Companies Like Arm Are Often Cited As Great...
6. High tech companies like ARM are often cited as great examples of UK success. What drawbacks
does such an emphasis have? Although high technology manufacturing (and by extension high tech
companies that operate in that sector) is a good way for the UK to improve its productivity (output per
labour force) and its global competitiveness [6], too much emphasis on high tech companies present
possible drawbacks. Firstly, there is a mismatch in skills required by the high tech industry and the
actual skillsets of the UK labour force. Only 27.2% of the UK population aged 16 to 74 have a degree
or equivalent or higher [2]. Taking cognizance of the fact that most high tech jobs require at least a
degree, undue emphasis on that sector neglects the other 72.8% of the population. And this neglect has
dire consequences. As evidenced by the recent UK referendum vote to leave the EU and the rise of the
US presidential candidate Donald Trump, if a substantial part of the population feel left behind or
disillusioned with the economy, it can lead to political unrest, and possible negative populist decisions
that can hurt the general economy. Generally, businesses do not thrive under uncertainties. The
political uncertainty brought about by the recent UK referendum was cited by business leaders as the
top risk facing UK businesses [6]. These political risks negatively affect the general economy, in terms
of both reductions in GDP growth and value of the UK pounds sterling. Another

The Slippery Slope Argument
Another aspect of the liberal argument is that increasing choices increases freedom (Moazam 211).
Under such thought, a woman with the ability to elect to have a SSA is better off than one who is
limited to being forced to have a female child. Options are seen as freeing, even if the circumstances
they exist under are undesirable or even questionable. Thus, allowing SSA is thought of as a way to
further the liberation of Asian women. Liberal feminists also argue that state interference in the form
of anti SSA legislature is seen as infringing upon women s reproductive rights (Moazam 214). This is
a fundamental realization for liberal feminists, as they see any infringement upon these rights as
having the potential to cause dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, liberal feminists assure that banning SSA will not get rid of it, as has been argued in the U.S.
regarding abortions in general. With such a tremendous amount of societal pressure to have boys,
women will continue to find ways to have SSA; however, they will be forced to seek out unregulated
practitioners who provide riskier services (Moazam 216). Again, this will cause harm to the very
people that the laws aim at protecting, and without even stopping the actual practice of SSA. Even
some in favor of legally banning SSA admit that current laws aimed at combatting the missing girls
phenomenon must be questioned. For example, Rogers et al. admitted in 2007 that the laws banning
infanticide, abandonment, and neglect of female children in China and India, though they may have
slowed down the practice, do not appear to be effective in stopping SSA (523). For liberal feminists,
the protection of women from unsafe medical procedures that will undoubtedly occur with SSA bans
is essential. However, a ban will still symbolically take a stance against gendered discrimination even
if SSA still occurs at some level. Moreover, additional action can be taken to ensure women s safety.
Shelters and health care provided for women being forced to consider backdoor SSA by those around
them could provide a form of escape from this seemingly inevitable choice . Support for women
affected by domestic violence would also help to

Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech
Most have seen the 2010 film, The King s Speech, known for it s numerous incidents preceding King
George VI s first wartime broadcast. Many knew of his personal anxiety surrounding his speech
impediment and usurping of the throne; however, this representation of historical rhetoric goes beyond
a simple Colin Firth film. On September 3, 1939, King George VI of the United Kingdom gave an
address to the nation, describing the unfortunate involvement of it s people in another war and why
they stood in such a state. Through the use of argumentation, addressing his audience appropriately,
and handling his speech defect efficiently in delivery, King George VI calls on the ethos, pathos, and
logos of his subjects, effectively presenting his arguments for going to war with Germany.
From the very start of his address, King George VI identifies his audience and his relationship with
them, building a sense of trust and mutual duty. To call on their pathos an appeal to emotion by
distortion of factual evidence (Wright) , King George also tries to establish a personal connection
through unity for the upcoming war effort among his subjects. He calls for all citizens to act with their
personal, physical, and emotional strength, showing his faith in the abilities of the British. The address
calls them to remember the last World War that they fought valiantly in by stating or the second time
in the lives of most of us we are at war. This also reiterates in the people s minds that

Analysis Of The Movie Wit
Wit: a movie review Roger Ebert described Wit as a movie that hurts too much (Ebert, 2008), and I
have to agree. From the first scene, Dr. Vivian Bearing is a character that draws me in. The preciseness
of her speech demands respect and her matter of fact observations vividly display the irony of her
situation, adding humor to a subject that would seem impossible. The doctors, in their own form of
precise speech, manage to strip all humanity from practicing medicine; making it clear that their
intentions were on advancing the science rather than helping the patient. While Bearing told the
audience the truth of how she was feeling and what her thoughts were, she gave the doctors the
answers they wanted to hear, and in doing so, she gave up the ability to have a peaceful death. It
makes one wonder, how often do we know the truth from the patient s perspective? Nurse Susie both
inspired and discouraged me. I was inspired by her dedication to adhere to her patient s wishes; but I
was discouraged by her lack of ability to do so. Early in the movie, she seemed to have reservations
about the plan of treatment but did not have a voice in altering it. As the treatments progressed with no
improvement, we saw that Nurse Susie was unable to convince either the patient or the doctors on
what was in Dr. Bearings best interest. She correctly understood how her patient was doing but no one
listened. In the end, neither the patient nor the doctors got what they hoped for. In a recent study,

  • 4. Socrates s Views On Socrates Socrates could undeniably be described as one of the most influential philosophers and greatest thinker of his time. His views can be interpreted many different ways, but most would agree that he sought out wisdom and truth for the betterment of himself and his community. Though Socrates was one of the most intelligent men of his time, he was very foolish to never write his own book. For this reason, after his passing, one of his students, Plato, began to write a book about his teachings and ideas called Plato: Five Dialogues. In this book, we examined Plato s Meno in which Meno asks Socrates can virtue be taught? but, Socrates quickly transforms this question into what is virtue? . This questions ultimately consumes the entirety of this dialogue, and in the end, Meno proves to lack originality in his arguments by simply agreeing with each thing Socrates states. While Meno thought he knew the answer to this question, Socrates provides a different opinion. Although Meno does not learn anything in the course of this dialogue, Socrates still remains one of the most influential teachers and philosophers of his time. In this essay I shall focus on the question of who is Socrates, next I will examine what teaching and learning really mean, and finally I will conclude with the fact that Meno does not actually learn anything from Socrates. Socrates, born in 470 BC in Athens, Greece, knew from a very young age the profound love and passion he carried for philosophy. His unendingly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you didn t know already, Romeo, a Montague, is at the age of sixteen and Juliet, a Capulet is at the age of thirteen. The play starts off with Romeo first being rejected by Rosaline and soon went to a feast along with Mercutio and Benvolio s assistance. During the feast in the Capulet s house, Romeo met Juliet and they fell in love with each other. With the newly found love, Juliet, Romeo soon forgot about Rosaline. • 9. Why Do People Join Organized Religion Question 1 I honestly think that people, in general, want to feel a sense of belonging and that there is something greater than themselves guiding us through our day to day lives. In many instances, people believe in a God/Entity because it is a part of their culture and is held in high regard. Both in years past to present religion has played a major role in the way we as people view ourselves and each other. An example of why people join an organized religion would be for the purpose of social status. An example of that I would say is Scientology. From the outside looking in it really looks like this group is particularly seeking out the rich and famous to join the church. There are Scientology churches that are specifically for their rich and famous members to attend. Yet the less fortunate members are treated with less grandeur. That really seems like it s all about the status/money the church gains from its members and the status the members gain by joining this church. I bring this up because the original idea of joining a religion was to worship the most high and to learn to live by the rules set forth for its follower. The majority of believers are believers because the religion was handed down to them and they genuinely feel that the belief and practices are right for them and their families. Therefore, anything an author writes will lean towards their viewpoint on any particular issue. Books written about heavy topics, such as war, will have many opinions in them. Whether they are written to express thoughts, or if they are just present in the story, you cannot deny the existence of them. Between Shades of Gray is no different. Ruta Sepetys has personally seen the effects of Lithuanians in World War II, and knows how bad the truth is. Let s answer some common concerns our patients usually express. How long does it take to get my teeth straightened? The amount of time required for treatment is directly dependent upon your specific situation and the method of treatment used. While traditional braces may take two or three years, Invisalign can be completed in about 12 to 18 months. Fastbraces works even faster, often offering results in about 6 to 12 months. How much does orthodontic treatment cost? Again, the answer to this question largely depends on your situation and what type of treatment is required. Typically, the longer your treatment, the most costly it becomes. However, many insurance plans cover the cost of braces. We also offer great financing options that should make it easy to make sure you are taken care of. Are braces painful? All of our braces options are safe and produce only mild levels of discomfort. None of our orthodontic options are painful. When you have your wires adjusted for traditional braces, you may feel a bit of discomfort lasting up to about a week due to the pressure of tightened wires. With Fastbraces or Invisalign, even that discomfort is reduced. If you have any additional questions or concerns about your orthodontic care, please contact our office. You can reach us by phone ... • 16. Essay On The Composition Of Capital Inflows In figure 3, Cho and Rhee (2014) show the composition of capital flows for all 10 Asian Countries excluding Hong Kong and Singapore. While the FDI was quiet stable, the portfolio investment part decreased from 2.2% of GDP in 2007 to 2.9% in 2008. Also, the other investment part of capital inflows, like bank loans, declined since 2007; nevertheless, it rebounded over than the pre crisis level and became the major source of capital inflows after GFC. Cho and Rhee (2014) explain the composition of capital inflows by individual country in figure 4. It is easily to notice that both financial hubs, Hong Kong and Singapore, have more than 10% of GDP which was led by other investment part. Increasing money impacts Asian economy on capital flows and on either exchange rates or housing prices significantly. The result of this section is quiet interesting. The QE of US brought huge capital inflows into Asian economies. There are two ways that it can influence: 1) a large amount money flows into the emerging markets to buy their currencies which investors expected they would increase values relative to USD; then, the expectation caused the appreciation of currencies. 2) however, if the central banks of some certain economies try to stabilize their exchange rates not to appreciate, the effect of QE would show in the housing markets, the most important household assets in most Asian countries. In real terms, Cho and Rhee (2014) indicates in the figure 5 that the housing prices nearly double in Hong Kong and India since the fourth quarter in 2008 to 2012. Also, in Taiwan, the housing prices rose by almost 60%. In Malaysia, it increased by around 30%. Economies with stable or rigid exchanges suffer from large increasing in the housing prices. Figure 6, calculated by Cho and Rhee (2014), demonstrates the relationship between exchange rates and housing prices. From the figure 6, it is obvious that Japan is an outlier. As a result, we show two situations in the figure 6, with and without Japan. Including Japan in the calculation, the correlation coefficient between exchange rates and housing prices is o.84. ... • 18. Relationship between Exposure to PAH s and Insulin Resistance 1. Introduction Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous environmental toxic compounds with fused aromatic rings, formed from incomplete combustion of carbon containing materials such as coal and fossil fuels, cigarette smoking, and food cooking.1,2 Non occupational exposure routes of PAHs include: inhalation airborne PAHs such as polluted air or cigarette smoking, ingestion of PAH containing food such as charred and broiled meat, as well as dermal absorption.3,4 PAHs can bioaccumulate through the food chain because of its nature of resistant to degradation.5 The adverse health effects of PAHs have been widely studied recently mainly focusing on increasing risks of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and a variety of cancers, including respiratory, renal, and breast cancers.6 15 Recently, several studies suggested an association between ambient air pollution and type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and ambient fine particulate matter (PM) may induce insulin resistance.16 21 Since air pollution as well as smoking and red meat consumption were consistently linked to cardiometabolic diseases such as diabetes,22,23 and all of them are important exposure sources of PAHs, it s biologically plausible that PAHs may play important roles in the relationship between cigarette smoking, ambient air pollution and cardiometabolic diseases. Insulin resistance is a state where there is reduced biological effect for any given concentration of insulin.24,25 It is regarded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first, but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion. Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal, I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is enough to make me determined to pursue this career. • 22. Letter To The Colossians Colossians Introduction: In the passage, The Bible instructs the population that Christ passed away for the sins of mankind. It provides instruction for all of mankind and allows human beings to accept their gifts and their faults as well. The reader of the passage is asked to impart these lessons and apply them into their everyday lives. The letter to the Colossians is intent to both explain Christ s position in the world and to assert unequivocally that he was indeed the son of God and was the leader of men and also above all men. Besides being instructive on the philosophical basis of Christianity, it also serves as a lecture about the dangers of false prophecy and obedience to people besides the lord God himself. Historical Cultural Background: Following the death of Jesus Christ there was a desire in his followers to spread his messages and to build the church which would teach his word to as many as would listen and embrace his ideas. At this time, there was as yet, no unified instruction about how to teach and spread Christianity. Consequentially, there were many different variations and interpretations of the words of Christ being cultivated and taught as the very word of the Lord. This was obviously before the writing of The Bible as a completed work and so those who wanted to participate in the Christian religion only had access to the stories and instructions through the oral repetition (Lewis 2010). According to her memo dated May 19th, Beers objective was to re invent the mega agency, whose inertia and complacency had eroded its competitiveness since the 1980s. In fact, Beer s tenure at Ogilvy constituted a re creation of the agency, redefining its aims, processes, people, and structure in reaction to the demands placed by the changing advertising industry. • 26. Health Symptoms And Risk Factors [Introduction] All human beings share the innate liking of sweetness since we experience from mother s milk. Now, sugar and sugar rich foods are the most popular and worldwide consuming (McGee 645). High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) was introduced to the food and beverage industry as a substitution to sucrose because of its higher degree of sweetness and the decreasing use of sugar supply during World War II (White). Over a half century, scientists still dispute the safety of HFCS to health. Some studies point out that HFCS has equivalent effects as sucrose and does not account for risk factors for health at normal consumption levels. However, several studies conducted by Standhop, Akar, Hoebel, and Collison have shown that HFCS shows greatly problems in health. Therefore, people should be aware of sugar consumption from HFCS because HFCS introduces health symptoms as cardiovascular disease and risk factors of type II diabetes. [Talk about HFCS] Nowadays, Americans tend to consume more excessive sweet products because of the accessibility of HFCS. Since HFCS can provide sweeter taste than table sugar at the same doses, it rapidly gains market share in food and drink industry after the late 1960s. HFCS improved functionality and cost savings and HFCS used in industry rose to a peak in 1999. It is mainly used in process foods including canned foods, dairy products, cereals, candies, desserts, and beverages. Although people have believed that HFCS has the same effect on their ... In William Shakespeare s Othello, racism can be seen as a common thing throughout the dialogues in the play. Almost every single character have made racial slurs towards Othello. The protagonist, Othello is seen as an isolated individual from the rest of Venice due to his skin colour. Othello feels insecure about his race. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife. Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello, he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine (I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). Others racist comment around Othello exposes his inner insecurity step by step, up to a point that Othello can no longer take it and causes his downfall. Internally, Othello s insecurities about ... • 28. High Tech Companies Like Arm Are Often Cited As Great... 6. High tech companies like ARM are often cited as great examples of UK success. What drawbacks does such an emphasis have? Although high technology manufacturing (and by extension high tech companies that operate in that sector) is a good way for the UK to improve its productivity (output per labour force) and its global competitiveness [6], too much emphasis on high tech companies present possible drawbacks. Firstly, there is a mismatch in skills required by the high tech industry and the actual skillsets of the UK labour force. Only 27.2% of the UK population aged 16 to 74 have a degree or equivalent or higher [2]. Taking cognizance of the fact that most high tech jobs require at least a degree, undue emphasis on that sector neglects the other 72.8% of the population. And this neglect has dire consequences. As evidenced by the recent UK referendum vote to leave the EU and the rise of the US presidential candidate Donald Trump, if a substantial part of the population feel left behind or disillusioned with the economy, it can lead to political unrest, and possible negative populist decisions that can hurt the general economy. Generally, businesses do not thrive under uncertainties. The political uncertainty brought about by the recent UK referendum was cited by business leaders as the top risk facing UK businesses [6]. These political risks negatively affect the general economy, in terms of both reductions in GDP growth and value of the UK pounds sterling. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Slippery Slope Argument Another aspect of the liberal argument is that increasing choices increases freedom (Moazam 211). Under such thought, a woman with the ability to elect to have a SSA is better off than one who is limited to being forced to have a female child. Options are seen as freeing, even if the circumstances they exist under are undesirable or even questionable. Thus, allowing SSA is thought of as a way to further the liberation of Asian women. Liberal feminists also argue that state interference in the form of anti SSA legislature is seen as infringing upon women s reproductive rights (Moazam 214). This is a fundamental realization for liberal feminists, as they see any infringement upon these rights as having the potential to cause dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, liberal feminists assure that banning SSA will not get rid of it, as has been argued in the U.S. regarding abortions in general. With such a tremendous amount of societal pressure to have boys, women will continue to find ways to have SSA; however, they will be forced to seek out unregulated practitioners who provide riskier services (Moazam 216). Again, this will cause harm to the very people that the laws aim at protecting, and without even stopping the actual practice of SSA. Even some in favor of legally banning SSA admit that current laws aimed at combatting the missing girls phenomenon must be questioned. For example, Rogers et al. admitted in 2007 that the laws banning infanticide, abandonment, and neglect of female children in China and India, though they may have slowed down the practice, do not appear to be effective in stopping SSA (523). For liberal feminists, the protection of women from unsafe medical procedures that will undoubtedly occur with SSA bans is essential. However, a ban will still symbolically take a stance against gendered discrimination even if SSA still occurs at some level. Moreover, additional action can be taken to ensure women s safety. Shelters and health care provided for women being forced to consider backdoor SSA by those around them could provide a form of escape from this seemingly inevitable choice . Many knew of his personal anxiety surrounding his speech impediment and usurping of the throne; however, this representation of historical rhetoric goes beyond a simple Colin Firth film. On September 3, 1939, King George VI of the United Kingdom gave an address to the nation, describing the unfortunate involvement of it s people in another war and why they stood in such a state. Through the use of argumentation, addressing his audience appropriately, and handling his speech defect efficiently in delivery, King George VI calls on the ethos, pathos, and logos of his subjects, effectively presenting his arguments for going to war with Germany. From the very start of his address, King George VI identifies his audience and his relationship with them, building a sense of trust and mutual duty. To call on their pathos an appeal to emotion by distortion of factual evidence (Wright) , King George also tries to establish a personal connection through unity for the upcoming war effort among his subjects. He calls for all citizens to act with their personal, physical, and emotional strength, showing his faith in the abilities of the British. From the first scene, Dr. Vivian Bearing is a character that draws me in. The preciseness of her speech demands respect and her matter of fact observations vividly display the irony of her situation, adding humor to a subject that would seem impossible. The doctors, in their own form of precise speech, manage to strip all humanity from practicing medicine; making it clear that their intentions were on advancing the science rather than helping the patient. While Bearing told the audience the truth of how she was feeling and what her thoughts were, she gave the doctors the answers they wanted to hear, and in doing so, she gave up the ability to have a peaceful death. It makes one wonder, how often do we know the truth from the patient s perspective? Nurse Susie both inspired and discouraged me. I was inspired by her dedication to adhere to her patient s wishes; but I was discouraged by her lack of ability to do so. Early in the movie, she seemed to have reservations about the plan of treatment but did not have a voice in altering it. As the treatments progressed with no improvement, we saw that Nurse Susie was unable to convince either the patient or the doctors on what was in Dr. Bearings best interest. She correctly understood how her patient was doing but no one listened. In the end, neither the patient nor the doctors got what they hoped for. In a recent study, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
