Essay On Myasthenia Gravis
Myasthenia Gravis Damage to the neuromuscular junctions is due to an autoimmune disease called
myasthenia graves. The motor end plates, which are located on skeletal muscles, are affected
because there is a decrease in the amount of Ach receptors located on the motor end plate, which is
connected to the neuromuscular junction. The decrease is due to the unnecessary production of
antibodies, which bind to the motor end plate. This prevents Ach from binding to the receptors to
carry out a synapse between the skeletal muscleand a neuron, leading to a stop or weakening of
muscle contraction. The decrease in the amounts of synapses cause the skeletal muscle to lose
function, become weaker, and tire more easily. Men and women are both at risk for developing
myasthenia gravis, but the disease is more prevalent in women. However, the age of diagnosis
varies. Men typically receive their diagnosis between the ages of 50 and 60 years old; women are
usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 years old. There is no known research to conclude
if a particular race is at a higher disadvantage to having... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One type of drug class are anticholinesterase, which inhibits acetylcholine in order to increase the
levels of Ach in the body to bind to functional receptors to increase the amount of synapses.
Corticosteroids and immunosuppresants are other drugs that can be used to suppress the immune
system s attack on the motor end plates. To stop developing tumors on their thymus, patients might
opt to have their thymus removed by a procedure called a thymectomy. Another procedure that can
be done is a plasmapheresis, which reduces the number of antibodies in the blood so there are more
open receptors for Ach to bind to. However, it is important to know that treatment varies from
patient to patient and no patient is the same with this

Uva-F-1560, Hertz
The bidding process for Hertz began when William Ford Jr. announced plans to explore strategic
alternatives for Hertz in April 2005. Two months later in June, an S 1 registration statement was
filed setting up a dual track process that would result in a Hertz IPO should other sale prospects
fail. This decision affects the bidding process in multiple ways. For one there is less time for the
two bidding groups to come up with a price and resulting agreement. They are forced to act
quickly and find a price that the Hertz management will agree upon. If they don t do this, then
Hertz will just go through with the IPO. This could lead to a driven up price, since the bidding
groups will do whatever it takes to win the bid.

ABS debt was not only less expensive (it carried a low interest rate around 4.5%), but it provided a
more flexible financing arrangement since debt could increase or decrease with fleet size. Also,
senior debt and purchase price multiples had increased to 4x EBITDA and 8x EBITDA
respectively. These numbers are used in coming up with a purchase price multiple, which is a key
drive in finding the enterprise value.
When trying to find the Enterprise Value for Hertz, the sponsor group took a couple key
assumptions. First off, management had projected transaction volume to grow 6.9% in 2005,
which according to the case is one of the key drivers of the rental car business. This seems to be a
reasonable assumption considering that travel was starting to rebound from the lows post 9/11.
Also, the Bidding group believed $400 $600 million in annual EBITDA savings was attainable by
2009 (confirmed by external industry advisors). Hertz was behind in EBITDA margins, increasing
operating expenses outpacing revenue growth, the off airport growth strategy had significant
losses, higher nonfleet capital expenditures, Europe s RAC SG amp;A was 3 times higher than
those in the U.S., and return on assets lagged competitors. The bidding group thought by targeting
these problem areas, and others, they could generate higher profits. Another assumption

The Acidic Environment Around Us
The environment around us is certainly acidic. Even though people often think the air around us
is neutral, the atmosphere naturally contains acidic oxides of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur that
can harm our environment greatly. These oxides can be produced naturally and industrially.
Sulfur dioxide is produced when organic matter decomposes and forms hydrogen sulphide
which then oxidises to the oxide: 2H2S (g) + 3O2 (g) 2SO2 (g) + 2H2O. The natural sources of
sulfur dioxide are in volcanic gases, bushfires, sulfur rich geothermal hot springs releasing gases
and the decomposition of organic matter. The industrial sources of sulfur dioxide such as in
processing and burning of fossil fuels and extracting metals from sulfur rich ores such as smelting
of galena for lead: 2PbS (s) + 3O2 (g) 2PbO (s) + 2SO2
Nitric oxide is another oxide in the atmosphere that is formed when nitrogen and oxygen react due
to high temperatures of lightning: N2 (g) + O2 (g) 2NO (g). Other sources of nitric oxide from
industrial sources include the combustion of fossil fuels both in cars and in power stations. The
nitrogen in the air reacts with oxygen in the hot engines. Another oxide that occurs in the
atmosphere is nitrogen dioxide which is produced after nitric oxide is produced by lightning and
reacts with the oxygen in the air: (2NO (g) + O2 (g) NO2 (g)), it is also released in large volumes
in the atmosphere by power stations. Nitrous oxide is an oxide that occurs on root nodules of legume

King Of Kong Documentaries
Documentaries are films concerning factual or actual topics. These films have a variety of aims.
To record important events and ideas. to inform viewers, to convey opinions and to create public
interest. The documentary that this essay will be based around is called The king of Kong: a
fistful of quarters created and directed by Seth Gordon on the 28th of February 2008. Released
by the New Line Cinema that scored a box office of 790,128 USD. Throughout this essay I will
discuss the rivalry, the differences and comparisons between two different characters. This
documentary is created and established around two characters Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe.
These characters are very committed to their gaming as quoted by one of the characters saying...

Billy Mitchell is a world record holder of the game Donkey Kong which he got in 1999. He had
this record for several years, until Steve Wiebe. Billy Mitchell was furious when his score got beat
as no one could until, this guy (Steve Wiebe) that no one knew beat it. The directors showed
continuous amounts of how bad Billy is in the film. For example, one of the conventions used to
show this was music. Music showed that Billy was bad, by when the camera man was following
Billy the music that was played in the background was very dark and unhappy music. This music
was chosen purposely to portray that Billy is the bad guy. Another convention used was framing,
the directors videoed Billy while he was in the bathroom brushing his hair this displayed that he
was devious and cared about his appearance a lot. Once Steve had beat Billy, most of his family
members were interviewed. Many quotes were said such as Billy has a lot of things up his
sleeve, behind closed doors he s got something planned. These quotes tell us that his family
members have a lot of faith in him as they believe he could beat Steve, as he did. Although, he
cheated his way into winning which also showed the coward side of Billy Mitchell. Steve got
back onto his feet and beat Billy the right way. Graphics were also shown as Steve was beating
Billy s high Score that he set. So fourth, throughout this documentary Billy has been portrayed to us
multiple times as the bad guy, coward and a cheater that cheated his way into beating a

Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August Wilson
A haunting of the past
In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey through the
life of the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a piano that tells their family s
history. Through examining their history, Wilson uses setting and symbolism to convey his
personal belief in the importance of one s ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has
in a person s everyday life. The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of
the Charles family and further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson grew
up in a non wealthy colored district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher, James), so there is
no surprise that Wilson s play has black roots that are relatable to his past ,also acting as salute to
people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His strong connection to African American roots are why
censors ,who have criticized Wilsons work, applaud him on his capability to make interesting
characters and pull from African American folklore (Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared
much of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A man owns the Charles family, whose
grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens to also be man who held the title
of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig, Wilson 1.2.8). In the play, a major
flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the older Charles family must to pick cotton (2.1.7).
The setting is critical to the family when it comes to the readers understanding of the present
Charles s past, as their grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future generations a
lot harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people to make a
living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach them things such as
how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that even though Bernice lives in a
different environment than that of which her family roots originate, their individualities interrupt
and cross within her own (Lise, Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still
affect her present life. Although Bernice does not wish to

Where Am I Wearing Analysis
In the article education in developing countries, it discussed education issues and how it has an
impact on gender and developing countries. It talks about how 97 million children were not
enrolled in school and half of the 97 were girls. We talked a little about years of school in countries
and how boys tend to go to schoollonger than girls. This article elaborates more on the factors
behind it such as lack of teachers, cost, access, and more. Other reading have also mention education
in developing countries as well as the differences between boys and girls length of education. In
Where Am I Wearing, Kelsey touched upon the topic about how children didn t go to school
because they had to work to help support their families. He also made a comment that parents in
the US send their children to school, while parents in our countries send their children to collected

Differences Between The New England Colonies
The New World was divided into three parts known as the New England Colonies, Middle
Colonies, and Southern Colonies. These colonies were established for many reasons to benefit the
settlers who were coming from countries around the world. Most of their motives were similar, but
others were very different. Specifically, the New England Coloniesand the Southern were similar
and different in many aspects concerning their religion, politics, and economics.
The New England Colonies differed from the Southern colonies in their religious practices. In the
New England Colonies religion played a major defining role in all aspects of their lives while the
Southern colonies did not take religion into consideration quite as much. The establishment of the
New England colonies was different from the South because their main objective was to establish
safe places for those fleeing England from possible religious persecutions. In the book, A Patriot s
History, the authors stated, But the Pilgrims rightly hold a place of high esteem in America history,
largely because unlike Virginia settlement in the New World solely in the name of their Christian
faith (Schweikart, Allen, 2004, pg. 31). The New World was established with religious motives.
Roger Williams and his supporters founded Rhode Island in 1636 with the goal of finding land
where they could practice their own religion with separation of church from state. During the
establishment of the southern colonies like those of

Someone was movin into Mrs. Dirk s old house, she had died many years back. She used to rock
in her rocking chair on the porch. I remember she was a kind, old widow. Me and Hattie used to

truck drive up the dirt road and up the hill where Mrs. Dirk s house sat. Me and Hattie watched
behind the old wooden fence. I hope they got a girl my age, said Hattie. I wished the same thing

The Famous Poems Of Charles Baudelaire s Les Fleurs Du Mal
One of the most famous poems of Charles Baudelaire Les Fleurs du mal , he introduces the term
Flaneur. Meaning stroller or anbler, this word has no literal explanation in the English language.
FlГўneur is a person who generally moves around on the streets. Baudelaire, in one of his earliest
poems, The Sun which depicted the spontaneous quality of frolic through the city: Along the old
outskirts of town, where Venetian blinds in hovel hide secret lecheries, when the cruel sun strikes
with redoubled ray town and country, rooftop and wheatfield, I go to practice by myself my
whimsical swordsmanship, sniffing at any corner for chance rhymes, tripping over words like
curbs, bumping sometimes into lines long sought in dreams. FlГўneur strays around the city to
understand the secretive bliss in its earliest embodiment. The poetic creativity here is considered
as the origin of capital. The stroller or the artist can happily forget about the worries when on the
streets and here he even finds the rhythm and expression to nourish his poetry. In later
demonstrations, Flaneur is filled with separation, sorrow and spleen as it has been described. Paris
was considered to be the most typical lieu d exil, which was the emblem of the barren status of
modernity. Flaneur goes through an intense namelessness which lines the personality of the
flГўneur. The skill of the Flaneur lies in his craft of converting the spleen , discontent and agony
into bliss.

Persuasive Essay On Hockey Jerseys
You may think that if you want to have your own NHL jersey to wear to games, sports bars, and

When the National Hockey League was established in 1917, from the ruins of the National Hockey
Association, the players wore regular sweaters with numbers sewn or pinned to the back. The
sweaters were not specially made, just purchased from a men s clothing store.

By the 1970s, all kinds of experiments were being made with the whole hockey uniform. In this

When you are shopping for NHL jerseys, for yourself or to give as gifts, you should look at the
variety of cheap jerseys that you can find on the internet. They are able to be made to a high
standard for less money when they are made in China. Jerseys from China have all the same
details that the real players jerseys do, like stitched on logos and patches. They use quality fabrics
so they are durable. They don t require any special cleaning like expensive jerseys can. They look
just as good, but cost you less money.
In 1995, the principle of the third jersey really took off. They are called third jerseys because
they are neither the regular home or away jerseys, but have a different style or design. Many of
them are retro or vintage designs from the team s past. Others have been designed to be worn on
holidays or for other commemorative purposes. You can find all the best third designs in the online

Oven Persuasive Essay
Before you bake anything, your oven needs to be heated to its proper temperature. It takes only a
few seconds to turn on your oven, but it takes several minutes for it to reach the right temperature.
Turning on your oven and letting it heat up to the right temperature is known as preheating. Most
recipes require you to turn your oven on first, before starting to cook.
First you should consider preheating your oven before starting your recipe. Electrical ovens often
need 10 to 15 minutes before they reach the proper temperature. This is usually enough time for
you to prepare your recipe. If it takes more than 15 minutes in which to prepare the food, then
consider starting the oven half way through the prepping process.
Unless you store items ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most oven racks usually are set in the middle of the oven, but in some cases, the dish that you are
baking will need to be placed higher or lower in the oven. Refer to the recipe, and if necessary,
take out the oven rack and set it to the right level.
Note that items such as cakes, cookies, and cupcakes should be placed in the middle rack, unless
the recipe states otherwise.
Turn on the oven and set it to the right temperature. To get the right temperature, you will need to
refer to your recipe. The oven temperature is usually at the very beginning of the recipe, its the very
first step.
Wait for the oven to reach the desired temp. Most ovens have a setting that lets you either see the
current temperature or it will beep when ready. Some ovens have a little light that turns on when it
is the right temperature. This light is usually next to the oven temperature dial.
Consider using an oven thermometer. in some cases the temperature inside the oven is not very
accurate and does not actually match the temperature on the dial. An oven thermometer, which is
usually placed inside the oven, will tell you the actual temperature. Refer to this thermometer
instead of waiting for the indicator light to go on or for when the oven to beep.
Place your food in the oven and let it bake according to the recipe. Make sure that the door is
firmly closed, unless the recipe states otherwise. Opening and closing the door while baking will
cause the internal heat to escape, which may result in longer baking

The Power Of Thinking Without Thinking By Malcolm Gladwell
Books are the most easily driven routes toward education. They present themselves differently to
different readers. We learn by what the dark words say on the bright pages. Authors that write
traditional textbooks are not really singled out in terms of recognition among individuals. However,
authors that talk to their readers but teach them simultaneously in books are the ones we tend to
think about and respect more. Malcolm Gladwell is a stellar example of the latter. This essay will
contain my findings on Malcolm Gladwell and his literature.
Malcolm Gladwell is a journalist, an author, and a public speaker. He s been a staff writer for The
New Yorker since he was 33. He has been featured in Time Magazine s 100 Most Influential
People . Malcolm Gladwell graduated the University of Toronto s Trinity College with a history
degree in 1984. In 2005, he published a book that would not only be one of his best sellers, but
would also inspire others to study psychology. The name of that book is called : Blink; The Power
of Thinking Without Thinking.
Blink s overall synopsis contains a tactic that we use to make decisions everyday called thin
slicing. Gladwell often describes thin slicing as a decision made based on our undetected
subconscious opinions and biases. He shines a light of the fact that those decisions are often made
within two seconds and that our subconscious is a locked door. He relates thin slicing to mind
reading based on our memory of facial expressions and

An Experiment Transpired Because Of A Fascination With...
This experiment transpired because of a fascination with basketball. In inches, the tested variable
was the basketball court surface that gave the basketball the most immense bounce. After testing
each surface, the data got averaged out, and based on the statistics, the multi purpose floor averaged
.7 inches more colossal than the hardwood, and 3.7 more than concrete.
Introduction
Playing basketball can be hard work. Players not only have to run around the court, but just
dribbling the basketball takes some serious effort, too. ( Surface Science: Where Does a
Basketball Bounce Best? ). Energy reserved inside the ball, transfers into Different types of
energy (ex. Heat, sound) when the ball hits the ground. But, which type of court restores the
most energy back into the ball? Wood, multi purpose, and concrete are the three types of court
surfaces being experimented on. All professional and collegiate leagues use hardwood court for
their basketball games. (Lorelie). There s logic in why they use them. For example, Wood courts
got referred to as one of the softest courts. Concrete surfaces got researched too. These are the
most popular types of surfaces for outdoor basketball courts. In fact, nearly all who play
basketball starts playing on concrete or asphalt court. (Lorelie). This shows, they must be popular
for their spring, and for being compact and durable. Multi purpose floor got researched last,
because it s little rarer than the other floorings. They have a

and course outline would be discussed in the class.According to my understanding human resources
dealt with just recruiting people, but to my surpise there is much more to it than recruiting.Debra

with the other team of two people and share your experiences, interests, background information. It
was pretty much fun talking to unknown people from different countries and getting to know their
good and bad experiences.after the introduction, course outline was reviewed and we got to know
about about the journal and debate that we will have top present later in the future.Debra gave a
little introduction about herself followed by her work experiences in the different fields. It was
great knowing her and I was honestly amazed to know her varied expereince in different fields and
how well she has managed everything. We started our course with introduction to strategic role of

Nature Of Human Nature
In Genesis the word of God leads humanity in the direction of self preservation, urging them to
procreate, to Be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 9:1), and to minimize hostility and violence among
people. As Freud asserted, Besides the instinct to preserve living substance and join it into ever
larger units, there must exist another, contrary instinct seeking to dissolve those units and bring
them back to their primeval, inorganic state (Freud 77). Genesis exemplifies the struggle between
the two opposing humaninstincts, with God acting as a moderator between them. Forms of justice
are put into place in an attempt to control these drives, one example being the proclamation that
Whoever sheds the blood of a human, by a human shall that person s blood be shed (Genesis 9:6).
The ethics and laws that develop throughout Genesis seek to prevent the crudest excesses of brutal
violencebut are unable to control the more cautious and refined manifestations of human
aggressiveness (Freud 70). Since they cannot be completely eradicated, the scriptures instead play
into the more negative aspects of human nature, especially narcissism, and manipulate them into a
force for conservation rather than annihilation. God s guidance often comes in violent forms,
punishing humanity for going astray of his wishes or attempting to raise themselves up to god like
status. First, in the beginning of Genesis he attempted to control Adam and Eveby withholding
knowledge, telling them that

is a pretty broad definition, this, of course, could also mean books, because they are able to
reach a large number of people, though it takes longer to reach the audiences because of
production and distribution times. Now, of course, things like television, internet, magazines, and
newspapers usually reach more people, there are many books that have sold millions of copies.
Some of these include religious text like the Bible about 2.5 billion have been sold, The Koran at
about 3 billion sold and the Book of Mormon at about 150 million.(1,3) Other famous books that
have sold in the millions according to Ranker.com are A Tale of Two Cities with over 200
million sold and Lord of the Rings with 150 million sold.(2) There are even some children s books
that have sold millions of copies like The Cat in the Hat and the Hungry Caterpillar.(2) Just these
numbers alone are enough to be included in the definition of mass media.
Any book that has these types of numbers has had a very big impact on the world s population. It
could be argued that the majority of the people on the Earth have either read

I Am A International Competitor
I am a learner. I am a sporting competitor. I am not afraid of failure. I am eager to learn the
lessons required to reach the top. I dare say it is a very pleasurable mix. My views on learning
are not extraordinary. They are however centred on comprehensive and investigative approaches
to engineering problems. I am happiest when I am identifying problems in a complex circuit, in
control systems, logic and digital circuits or simply the detection of flaws in coding. When the
problem is accessible and simultaneously acts as an intellectual stimulant I recognise an
automatic leveraging of inner resources and a gearing up of the mind to solve the issue. I find
myself thinking furiously adopting several parallel courses of action and a range of approaches
which will result in the best fastest solution to the problem. The entire exercise is meditative with
the focus resting solely on the end result. Every problem can be solved at different levels of
abstraction and by implementing different strategies. So then, the knowledge base acquired through
class lectures and the committed guidance from tutors, from peer reviewed journals and
publications, from interactive workshops and seminars, from the engaging technical discussions
and debates comprise the raw material to work with. What a qualified professional does with the
vast pools of information largely decides the shape his career takes. The vast application potential

My Personality Type Of Enfj
After answering multiple questions for different situations I was able to obtain information
about my personality. ENFJ is a very unique and has various skill sets that will allow me as
individual to work in multiple roles. Occupations with good interpersonal skills that allow
productive collaboration through any working process. Although this personality can be
challenging it still has many benefits to help build careers successfully. There are many high
rank positions that this particular personality type would be effective in. Some examples are
sales, social services, community care, legal and the list goes on. In all of these roles there are a
broad range of occupations that would fit perfectly based on the personality type. However, the
ultimate focus is to reach their main dreams. Although they may see their selves as helpers or
enablers, this creates the challenge. Throughout the course of years, I tend to find out more about
myself. Every day is challenging and full of many surprises. However, the most challenging thing
in my life is working with other personalities. Only to find myself considered an ENFJ with a
temperament of NF. Yes, I m open to others and would put myself last, but I now understand how to

Good vs. Evil
Good Vs. Evil
In Beowulf, the conflict between good and evil is the poem s main and most important aspect.
The poet makes it clear that good and evil doesn t exist as only opposites, but that both qualities
are present in everyone. Beowulf represents the ability to do good or to perform acts selflessly
and in help of others. Goodness is also showed throughout this epic as having the ability to cleanse
evil. Even though evil is presented by Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon, who are filled
with a desire to act against people and ultimately destroy them, even pride, a human quality, is
presented in Beowulf as a sign that evil exists. This story might even be considered a classic
because it mainly talks about the old fashion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He often talked about his accomplishments saying, They had seen me bolstered in the blood of
enemies when I battled and bound five beasts, raided a troll nest and in the night sea slaughtered
sea brutes. (Beowulf 419 422), which shows how good can also be a bit proud. In the end, though,
most of the time good will always defeat evil but good won t always stay alive. For example, in the
end of Beowulf, although Grendel was killed by Beowulf as well as his mother, Beowulf still dies.
In other words, just because evil is defeated doesn t mean good will always live.
On a different but similar note, is Grendel s mother, who is seen as vengeful. Different, because
she isn t the same type of evil that Grendel is, but similar because she is still an opponent to both
men and the society of man at the time that Beowulf was written, or rather, spoken. Also,
Grendel s mother is tainted in the opposite way that Grendel is; while Grendel is given a
humanistic point of view, people try to dehumanize Grendel s mother. While she is indeed just
as evil as Grendel was, she does not represent the utter evil that man must fight to achieve
immortality. She is a symbol of defiance of man, but she can be seen as more of a neutral
symbol. Grendel s mother doesn t attack Heorot because she doesn t like it. She attacks it because
Beowulf killed her only son, But now his mother had sallied forth on a savage journey, grief racked

Human resource management is a very important area of work, the future is very bright. Many
domestic enterprises on the positioning of human resources management is wrong, often the past,

biggest difference between the personnel department and the human resources management
department is that the human resources department, in addition to being responsible for the
recruitment and management of personnel files, is an important job of accounting for labor costs,
providing the financial sector with the basis of human costs, and according to their own Data for
personnel performance appraisal; In addition, staff training is also an important task of the human

The Day Will Come That You Won T Be Analysis
Similar to gothic literature, one of the scenes in The Day Will Come That You Won t Be has a
biblical parallel. In this scene, the characters follow part of the story of Abraham and Isaac. In
the show, Negan fulfills the role of God (which he would, undoubtedly, appreciate), Rick is
Abraham, and Carl is Isaac. Negan demands a personal sacrifice of Rick that will protect other
people, but cause profound damage to his son and himself. Negan demands fulfillment up until
Rick has resigned himself to cutting of Carl s arm. Negan does not need Rick to actually
complete the act, he just needs Rick to accept his domination. It functions not only as a test of
Rick s sense of duty to his people and the power of his fear, but also makes Rick grateful to
Negan. In a very twisted way, Negan saves Carl by sparing him from the fate Negan had
demanded of him. It is a little different than the original story, Negan comes out of the situation
with Rick s obedience, fear, and maybe some reverence. Maybe it s not so different after all.... Show

doctors use to perform abortions seem harmful and uncomfortable to both the mother and baby.
One method used is Dilation and Evacuation. Basically the mother is given drugs to force a

Conflict is the incompatible needs, differing demands, contradictory wishes, opposing beliefs or
diverging interests which produce interpersonal antagonism and, at times, hostile encounters (Bonta

settle or avoid disputes through strategies that stop violenceand bring people together in one peace

little or no physical violence occurring among both adults and children and strategies that work

Jurassic Park Controversy
Jurassic Park, a favored sci fi, action, adventure film in 1993, is about a scientist who extracts
Dyno DNA from mosquitoes preserved in a sticky substance called, Amber. Filled with excitement
and suspense, people may question how such a film was produced. In 1993, films required
specific animation processes, but during that time frame, it was fairly easy to spot the lack of
realism. Jurassic Parkchose to pursue a different direction and not rely on animation completely.
The development of the film, process of dinosaurs, and animation are all key components to
Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park, a science fiction action adventure film, was directed by Steven
Spielberg. But, not all credit can go to Spielberg; originally, a man named Michael Crichton, wrote
the novel Jurassic Park in 1990. Crichton, an American best selling author, physician, producer,
director, and screenwriter, is known for his science fiction and thriller genres. Crichton was then
asked by four studios to have screen rights over his novel, Jurassic Park. After allowing Universal
Studios screen right of Jurassic Park, Crichton received $500,000 dollars in return for the
acceptance. That following year, the filming of Jurassic Park began. Throughout Jurassic Park s

What If Apple Is Wrong By Brian Bergstein Analysis
In his article, What If Apple is Wrong, technology journalist for MIT Brian Bergstein questions
the decisions tech giant Apple made after refusing to give the FBI a backdoor into iPhones data.
In April of this year, Apple refused the FBI s request to open up the iPhone of Syed Rizwan
Farook, who shot and killed 14 people in San Bernadino, California. Bergstein opens by relating
the story of Devon Godfrey, who was shot in 2010. After using security camera footage to wrongly
arrest the suspect on charge of murder, Godfrey s iPhonerevealed that the murderer was someone
entirely different. Using this as a springboard for his line of questioning, Bergstein ponders whether

He first points out that since their release, iPhones have replaced a lot of the evidence that was used
in the past, such as cameras and notepads. Logically, this would mean that investigations are more
difficult than they were in the past, because investigators have lost sources of evidence. This also
supports the argument that authorities should have access to iPhones, because everything on them
were accessible in different forms in the past. Bergstein then attempts to strengthen his argument by
using the opinions of other important figures. First, he quotes Cyrus VanceJr., the District Attorney
in Manhattan, who thinks the federal government should pass a law that would require the makers
of smartphone operating systems to be able to give data to investigators. Bergstein wants the
reader to see that someone with a lot of experience in the matter, shares his opinion. I think this
also hurts his argument slightly, in that he picked a person with an obvious bias towards his cause.
Bergstein himself recognizes this, and so he brings in another authority figure s opinion: Apple s
CEO, Tim Cook. According to Bergstein, Tim Cook conceded that smartphones could impede
justice. I think it was an intelligent decision to balance the source of opinions he included in his
article, and although the reader knows Tim Cook disagrees overall that smartphones should be
accessible by government officials, he does agree that Bergstein and Vance have a

Impact Of Technology On The Music Industry
Over the years, music has become portable, starting with the transistor to a set of headphones.

diversity is about bringing people closer together though the World Wide Web. Many music
publishers are the key to cultural diversity when it comes to publishing all genres. They will
increasingly continue to play a part in promoting diversity by bringing music of all kinds and

people would gather in concert halls for impressive music from some of the best known

in writing this paper, my goal is to discuss copyrightlaws, file sharing, and the progression of how

The Pros And Cons Of GPS Tracking
GPS Tracking Stands on One Level with Data Privacy and Security: Fact or Myth
The term Global Positioning System conjures up images of GPS devices being used in space
age technology and vehicle navigation systems. GPS tracking devices have also become a part of
our daily lives today. However, many people are sceptical about the use of these handy devices.
Many people claim that they will face data privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much
of this statement is true? Do others have access to your information unless and until you share
them? It is true that the person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the
concerned individual.
With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen security
aspects, the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. Many families and business
owners have started to trust the system and are applying it in different ways. In fact, these
applications have made its way into animal tracking, farming and even gaming technology. Animal

Comparing Cuckoo And Can T Help Falling In Love
The two songs that I will be analyzing have many differences that I have come across while
analyzing. The first song is an Austrian folk song called Cuckoo . You can tell this is a folk
song from the vivid story telling in the lyrics that lead to a yodel. The second song is an
American pop song called Can t Help Falling in Love which was written by George David Weiss,
Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore and made most famous by Elvis Presley for the album/soundtrack
Blue Hawaii in 1961. The main similarity between these two songs is that they have certain
rhythms that get repeated multiple times. The two songs have different time signatures. Cuckoo
has a compound meter with short and quick notes whereas Can t Help Falling in Love has a simple
meter with more long notes. The folk songhas a narrow melodic range that stays in a single octave
from D4 to D5 and is diatonic. There is no clear climax to this song and has more of a disjunct
motion by having at least one leap in every other measure. The melodic contour of this song is
pretty repetitive for the most part. Each measure is in an arch motion which would make every
phrase more like a wave. The song also does not shy away from repetition. Almost every measure is

Character Change In Antigone
Antigone
In the play Antigone, written by Sophocles, writes a story about how one person s action has the
abilities to affect everyone around them. The main character Antigone openly admits that she
dislikes how Thebes is being run. Even though she is alone on her beliefs, she strongly disagrees
with Creon decisions, and wants the world to know her deeds. Antigone s deeds end in her
inevitable death, but in her passing achieves her objectives. The writer uses her to show how much
a single person can affect society, but also shows one must endure the sacrifice to achieve progress.
Throughout the story we find the characters must stand by what they believe in and face the
consequences to ensure change.
Many believe that the divine word holds more power than man, Antigone is one of these people
and hold the divines laws higher than man s laws. On the other hand, Creon believes that
holding power is the way of life and tries to uphold his laws over the deity laws. Creon does this
when the brothers Polyneices and Eteocles kill each other and Polyneices is designated as a
traitor. Creon decides to prohibit the people from burying Polyneices properly and follow the
god s law to prevent more rebellions. Antigone on the other hand believes that a Creon s law holds
no power over her from giving a proper burial. As Antigone is talking to Ismene she states No one
shall say I failed him! I will bury my brother and yours too, if you will not ( Sophocles ). This

(Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and treats) analysis for the company. Dewi Sitha is a jeweler
and silver specialty retailer. The merchandise offerings include jewelry, sterling silverware and
accessories. Dewi Sitha has adopted multiple direct distribution channels. This strategy has enabled

Soccer Benefits
Soccer has been played for nearly three thousand years and is considered the world s most popular
sport. The sport is regularly seen as a hobby however for me it is a pleasant method for learning
long lasting lessons. I was introduced to soccer when I was ten years old. I started by playing street
soccer and afterward I proceeded to playing on an actual league. As I gradually got better at soccer I
picked up abilities that I would use in everyday life. As I had stated, soccer is very popular but
why are the benefits unheard of? Why are parents not being told at all? Soccer is vital for
children. Children who play soccer experience lifelong benefits such as the building of social
skills, discipline, and a healthier lifestyle. One benefit that children gain from playing soccer is
they build social skills. For example, being able to communicate with the team is essential.
When I first started I was very shy. I did not communicate and the effect was I performed terribly
on the field. Once I learned to communicate I effectively played better. These skills also benefited
me outside of the sport and I was able to make friends effortlessly and be more comfortable with
myself. Being able to communicate also helps by being able to work as a team. Teamwork is
critical because one itself cannot score a goal on its own. Being able to depend on someone helped
me work smoothly. I was also able to perform even better than if I were to work alone on the field
or on any other tasks. Social

UGT in the 21st Century
MASS COMMUNICATION SOCIETY, 2000, 3(1), 3 37 Uses and Gratifications Theory in the 21st
Century Thomas E. Ruggiero Communications Department University of Texas at El Paso Some
mass communications scholars have contended that uses and gratifications is not a rigorous social
science theory. In this article, I argue just the opposite, and any attempt to speculate on the future
direction of mass communication theory must seriously include the uses and gratifications
approach. In this article, I assert that the emergence of computer mediated communication has
revived the significance of uses and gratifications. In fact, uses and gratifications has always
provided a cutting edge theoretical approach in the initial stages of... Show more content on

Wimmer and Dominick (1994) proposed that U G began in the 1940s when researchers became
interested in why audiences engaged in various forms of media behavior, such as listening to
the radio or reading the newspaper. Still others credit the U G perspective with Schramm s
(1949) immediate reward and delayed reward model of media gratifications (Dozier Rice, 1984).
Regardless, early U G studies were primarily descriptive, seeking to classify the responses of
audience members into meaningful categories (Berelson, Lazarsfeld, McPhee, 1954; Katz
Lazarsfeld, 1955; Lazarsfeld, Berelson, Gaudet, 1948; Merton, 1949). Most scholars agree that
early research had little theoretical coherence and was primarily behaviorist and individualist in its
methodological tendencies (McQuail, 1994). The researchers shared a qualitative approach by
attempting to group gratifi USES AND GRATIFICATIONS THEORY 5 cation statements into
labeled categories, largely ignoring their frequency distribution in the population. The earliest
researchers for the most part did not attempt to explore the links between the gratifications detected
and the psychological or sociological origins of the needs satisfied. They often failed to search

Dyslexia Definition
Definitions, Characteristics, Accommodations
Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder that certain individuals can have. Dyslexia is a disorder
that involves difficulty in learning to read, interpret words, letters, and symbols. Dyslexia makes it
hard for individuals to read and spell. Those diagnosed with dyslexia, struggle with the ability to
understand what they are reading or spelling. Dyslexia makes it difficult for individuals to be able
to read fast and accurately, which puts them behind in their learning. Even though dyslexia puts
kids behind in their learning, dyslexia does not affect general intelligence in any way. Dyslexia
does run in families, but there is no known cause. Some common characteristics of dyslexia is that

Dyscalculia is brain disorder that makes it difficult in making arithmetical calculations. In other
words, dyscalculia is a learning disorder that makes it difficult for an individual in the area of math.
Dyscalculia makes it difficult for a person to easily count numbers and objects. Individuals with
dyscalculia have difficult making estimates, have difficulty with measurements and distances,
cannot count or make money very well, and struggle with understanding patterns and rules of
numbers. Some other common characteristics of dyscalculia is that individuals have difficulty
clarify mathematical signs, reading a clock and telling time, difficulty learning multiplication tables,
using calculators, keeping records, difficulty learning facts and formulas, and struggle to play
games involving numbers. Dyscalculia is not curable, but there are accommodations that teachers
use for better learning in the classroom. For example, teachers can review what the students has
already learned, use graph paper to line up numbers and problems, give the student a handout of
formulas being used, use objects to help demonstrate, highlight and circle key words and numbers,
and most importantly give the student extra time when

New York City Vs. Los Angeles
New York City vs. Los Angeles: East Coast to West Coast
For Christmas and my sixteenth birthday present my parents planned a trip for me to go to New
York City with my dad. Two days after Christmas me and my dad hopped on the plane and headed
for New Jersey and New York City. I was very excited because I had been to New Jersey but I never
visited New York Citybefore. I also remember being excited because of that fact that I would
actually get to see snow in the winter since it rarely ever snowed in Houston during the winter.
Then that next year during my junior year in High School, I had the opportunity to go on a trip
to Los Angeles with my drill team. I was very excited to get to go to both of these huge awesome
cities in that two year period. Both of these cities were unique in their own way. So what makes a
city similar to another city and what makes a city different to another city? The people, the
weather, the vibe, the monuments and popular attractions are all some of the components of what
makes a city unlike any other city. My two favorite cities besides Houston are New York and Los
Angeles. I have visited both and like them both equally for different reasons. While New York and
Los Angeles definitely have their similarities, they also have many differences that set them apart
from each other.
In New York they experience all four seasons. The leaves change colors in the fall, it snows in the
winter, the grass gets greener because it rains a lot in the spring, and

Ethical and Religious Article Reviews
Seow, C. L. Homosexuality and Christian Community. Louisville, Ky: Westminster John Knox
Press, 1996.
In his article Relations Natural and Unnatural, Richard B. Hays states that after deciding what Paul
thought concerning homosexuality, we should still decide how to construe the authority of his
opinion in the present time. There are many open questions about how the bible functions as an
authority for normative ethical judgments. We cannot ease ourselves of the obligation for moral
decision by engaging to the plain sense of single proof text, but on the flip side, should we feel
constrained to pressure Paul, through exegetical scowls, to verbalize what we cerebrate he ought to
have verbalized. We must let the text have its verbally express, and then we must choose what
obedience to God requires. Also the article express how the heated debate triggers questions that are
concerning the possible misuse of the biblical teachings as in the edifications that are used in later
historical settings.

Why Children Need To Be Changed
Have you ever read through the kids menu at your favorite restaurant? What about the kids
menu at every restaurant within 5 miles of your home? A look at those sheets of paper, with
their mazes, search a words, and dot to dot sections will show you that what we often call kids
food is low quality, high fat, and high calories. The meals runs the color range from orangish
yellow to some reddish shade of brown.... think mac and cheese, French fries, nuggets, hot dogs,
and maybe pizza; but of course, the choices are cheese or pepperoni, never veggie. When I was
growing up we went to a restaurant to eat something special, the kinds of meals that were too
complicated to make at home, or contained ingredients that were either not carried in the... Show

They need to be taught what nutritious food does for our bodies and which specific foods are
nutritious. They also need to be taught about non nutritious foods and what happens when we
consume a diet high in those choices. Curriculum about nutrition and chronic disease prevention
needs to be moved out of the high school advanced health class and into circle time for 5 year
olds. And then we need to teach the content, adding more sophisticated information and details,
to each and every grade. Schools often reward children with food. Sell the most for the annual
fundraiser; win a pizza party. Behave the best for the veterans day assembly, earn an ice cream
treat recess. The pizza needs to have vegetables and the ice cream needs to be replaced by fresh
fruit! These rewards need to incorporate healthy lifestyles and make eating healthy foods as fun
and cool as the Shopkin characters. We need to get rid of Freezy Peazy, the frozen bag of peas and

  • 2. Essay On Myasthenia Gravis Myasthenia Gravis Damage to the neuromuscular junctions is due to an autoimmune disease called myasthenia graves. The motor end plates, which are located on skeletal muscles, are affected because there is a decrease in the amount of Ach receptors located on the motor end plate, which is connected to the neuromuscular junction. The decrease is due to the unnecessary production of antibodies, which bind to the motor end plate. This prevents Ach from binding to the receptors to carry out a synapse between the skeletal muscleand a neuron, leading to a stop or weakening of muscle contraction. The decrease in the amounts of synapses cause the skeletal muscle to lose function, become weaker, and tire more easily. Men and women are both at risk for developing myasthenia gravis, but the disease is more prevalent in women. However, the age of diagnosis varies. Men typically receive their diagnosis between the ages of 50 and 60 years old; women are usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 years old. There is no known research to conclude if a particular race is at a higher disadvantage to having... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One type of drug class are anticholinesterase, which inhibits acetylcholine in order to increase the levels of Ach in the body to bind to functional receptors to increase the amount of synapses. Corticosteroids and immunosuppresants are other drugs that can be used to suppress the immune system s attack on the motor end plates. To stop developing tumors on their thymus, patients might opt to have their thymus removed by a procedure called a thymectomy. Another procedure that can be done is a plasmapheresis, which reduces the number of antibodies in the blood so there are more open receptors for Ach to bind to. • 3. Uva-F-1560, Hertz The bidding process for Hertz began when William Ford Jr. announced plans to explore strategic alternatives for Hertz in April 2005. Two months later in June, an S 1 registration statement was filed setting up a dual track process that would result in a Hertz IPO should other sale prospects fail. This decision affects the bidding process in multiple ways. For one there is less time for the two bidding groups to come up with a price and resulting agreement. They are forced to act quickly and find a price that the Hertz management will agree upon. If they don t do this, then Hertz will just go through with the IPO. This could lead to a driven up price, since the bidding groups will do whatever it takes to win the bid. Hertz is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ABS debt was not only less expensive (it carried a low interest rate around 4.5%), but it provided a more flexible financing arrangement since debt could increase or decrease with fleet size. Also, senior debt and purchase price multiples had increased to 4x EBITDA and 8x EBITDA respectively. These numbers are used in coming up with a purchase price multiple, which is a key drive in finding the enterprise value. When trying to find the Enterprise Value for Hertz, the sponsor group took a couple key assumptions. First off, management had projected transaction volume to grow 6.9% in 2005, which according to the case is one of the key drivers of the rental car business. This seems to be a reasonable assumption considering that travel was starting to rebound from the lows post 9/11. Also, the Bidding group believed $400 $600 million in annual EBITDA savings was attainable by 2009 (confirmed by external industry advisors). Hertz was behind in EBITDA margins, increasing operating expenses outpacing revenue growth, the off airport growth strategy had significant losses, higher nonfleet capital expenditures, Europe s RAC SG amp;A was 3 times higher than those in the U.S., and return on assets lagged competitors. The bidding group thought by targeting these problem areas, and others, they could generate higher profits. Another assumption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Acidic Environment Around Us The environment around us is certainly acidic. Even though people often think the air around us is neutral, the atmosphere naturally contains acidic oxides of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur that can harm our environment greatly. These oxides can be produced naturally and industrially. Sulfur dioxide is produced when organic matter decomposes and forms hydrogen sulphide which then oxidises to the oxide: 2H2S (g) + 3O2 (g) 2SO2 (g) + 2H2O. The natural sources of sulfur dioxide are in volcanic gases, bushfires, sulfur rich geothermal hot springs releasing gases and the decomposition of organic matter. The industrial sources of sulfur dioxide such as in processing and burning of fossil fuels and extracting metals from sulfur rich ores such as smelting of galena for lead: 2PbS (s) + 3O2 (g) 2PbO (s) + 2SO2 Nitric oxide is another oxide in the atmosphere that is formed when nitrogen and oxygen react due to high temperatures of lightning: N2 (g) + O2 (g) 2NO (g). Other sources of nitric oxide from industrial sources include the combustion of fossil fuels both in cars and in power stations. The nitrogen in the air reacts with oxygen in the hot engines. Another oxide that occurs in the atmosphere is nitrogen dioxide which is produced after nitric oxide is produced by lightning and reacts with the oxygen in the air: (2NO (g) + O2 (g) NO2 (g)), it is also released in large volumes in the atmosphere by power stations. Nitrous oxide is an oxide that occurs on root nodules of legume ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Billy Mitchell is a world record holder of the game Donkey Kong which he got in 1999. He had this record for several years, until Steve Wiebe. Billy Mitchell was furious when his score got beat as no one could until, this guy (Steve Wiebe) that no one knew beat it. The directors showed continuous amounts of how bad Billy is in the film. For example, one of the conventions used to show this was music. Music showed that Billy was bad, by when the camera man was following Billy the music that was played in the background was very dark and unhappy music. This music was chosen purposely to portray that Billy is the bad guy. Another convention used was framing, the directors videoed Billy while he was in the bathroom brushing his hair this displayed that he was devious and cared about his appearance a lot. Once Steve had beat Billy, most of his family members were interviewed. Many quotes were said such as Billy has a lot of things up his sleeve, behind closed doors he s got something planned. These quotes tell us that his family members have a lot of faith in him as they believe he could beat Steve, as he did. Although, he cheated his way into winning which also showed the coward side of Billy Mitchell. Steve got back onto his feet and beat Billy the right way. Graphics were also shown as Steve was beating Billy s high Score that he set. • 6. Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August Wilson A haunting of the past In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey through the life of the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a piano that tells their family s history. Through examining their history, Wilson uses setting and symbolism to convey his personal belief in the importance of one s ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has in a person s everyday life. The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of the Charles family and further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson grew up in a non wealthy colored district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher, James), so there is no surprise that Wilson s play has black roots that are relatable to his past ,also acting as salute to people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His strong connection to African American roots are why censors ,who have criticized Wilsons work, applaud him on his capability to make interesting characters and pull from African American folklore (Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared much of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A man owns the Charles family, whose grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens to also be man who held the title of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig, Wilson 1.2.8). In the play, a major flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the older Charles family must to pick cotton (2.1.7). The setting is critical to the family when it comes to the readers understanding of the present Charles s past, as their grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future generations a lot harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people to make a living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach them things such as how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that even though Bernice lives in a different environment than that of which her family roots originate, their individualities interrupt and cross within her own (Lise, Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still affect her present life. Although Bernice does not wish to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These colonies were established for many reasons to benefit the settlers who were coming from countries around the world. Most of their motives were similar, but others were very different. Specifically, the New England Coloniesand the Southern were similar and different in many aspects concerning their religion, politics, and economics. The New England Colonies differed from the Southern colonies in their religious practices. In the New England Colonies religion played a major defining role in all aspects of their lives while the Southern colonies did not take religion into consideration quite as much. The establishment of the New England colonies was different from the South because their main objective was to establish safe places for those fleeing England from possible religious persecutions. • 11. The Famous Poems Of Charles Baudelaire s Les Fleurs Du Mal One of the most famous poems of Charles Baudelaire Les Fleurs du mal , he introduces the term Flaneur. Meaning stroller or anbler, this word has no literal explanation in the English language. FlГўneur is a person who generally moves around on the streets. Baudelaire, in one of his earliest poems, The Sun which depicted the spontaneous quality of frolic through the city: Along the old outskirts of town, where Venetian blinds in hovel hide secret lecheries, when the cruel sun strikes with redoubled ray town and country, rooftop and wheatfield, I go to practice by myself my whimsical swordsmanship, sniffing at any corner for chance rhymes, tripping over words like curbs, bumping sometimes into lines long sought in dreams. FlГўneur strays around the city to understand the secretive bliss in its earliest embodiment. The poetic creativity here is considered as the origin of capital. The stroller or the artist can happily forget about the worries when on the streets and here he even finds the rhythm and expression to nourish his poetry. In later demonstrations, Flaneur is filled with separation, sorrow and spleen as it has been described. Paris was considered to be the most typical lieu d exil, which was the emblem of the barren status of modernity. Flaneur goes through an intense namelessness which lines the personality of the flГўneur. The skill of the Flaneur lies in his craft of converting the spleen , discontent and agony into bliss. ... • 14. The Power Of Thinking Without Thinking By Malcolm Gladwell Books are the most easily driven routes toward education. They present themselves differently to different readers. We learn by what the dark words say on the bright pages. Authors that write traditional textbooks are not really singled out in terms of recognition among individuals. However, authors that talk to their readers but teach them simultaneously in books are the ones we tend to think about and respect more. Malcolm Gladwell is a stellar example of the latter. This essay will contain my findings on Malcolm Gladwell and his literature. Malcolm Gladwell is a journalist, an author, and a public speaker. He s been a staff writer for The New Yorker since he was 33. He has been featured in Time Magazine s 100 Most Influential People . Malcolm Gladwell graduated the University of Toronto s Trinity College with a history degree in 1984. In 2005, he published a book that would not only be one of his best sellers, but would also inspire others to study psychology. The name of that book is called : Blink; The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. Blink s overall synopsis contains a tactic that we use to make decisions everyday called thin slicing. Gladwell often describes thin slicing as a decision made based on our undetected subconscious opinions and biases. He shines a light of the fact that those decisions are often made within two seconds and that our subconscious is a locked door. He relates thin slicing to mind reading based on our memory of facial expressions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In inches, the tested variable was the basketball court surface that gave the basketball the most immense bounce. After testing each surface, the data got averaged out, and based on the statistics, the multi purpose floor averaged .7 inches more colossal than the hardwood, and 3.7 more than concrete. But, which type of court restores the most energy back into the ball? Wood, multi purpose, and concrete are the three types of court surfaces being experimented on. All professional and collegiate leagues use hardwood court for their basketball games. (Lorelie). There s logic in why they use them. For example, Wood courts got referred to as one of the softest courts. Concrete surfaces got researched too. These are the most popular types of surfaces for outdoor basketball courts. • 18. Nature Of Human Nature In Genesis the word of God leads humanity in the direction of self preservation, urging them to procreate, to Be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 9:1), and to minimize hostility and violence among people. As Freud asserted, Besides the instinct to preserve living substance and join it into ever larger units, there must exist another, contrary instinct seeking to dissolve those units and bring them back to their primeval, inorganic state (Freud 77). Genesis exemplifies the struggle between the two opposing humaninstincts, with God acting as a moderator between them. Forms of justice are put into place in an attempt to control these drives, one example being the proclamation that Whoever sheds the blood of a human, by a human shall that person s blood be shed (Genesis 9:6). The ethics and laws that develop throughout Genesis seek to prevent the crudest excesses of brutal violencebut are unable to control the more cautious and refined manifestations of human aggressiveness (Freud 70). Since they cannot be completely eradicated, the scriptures instead play into the more negative aspects of human nature, especially narcissism, and manipulate them into a force for conservation rather than annihilation. God s guidance often comes in violent forms, punishing humanity for going astray of his wishes or attempting to raise themselves up to god like status. First, in the beginning of Genesis he attempted to control Adam and Eveby withholding knowledge, telling them that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Meaning Of Mass Media When we hear the words mass media most of us usually think about information being conveyed through a modern means of communication like television, internet, or radio. However, the definition of mass media according to dictionary.com is as follows; any of the means of communication, as television or newspapers, that reach very large numbersof people.(5) Since this is a pretty broad definition, this, of course, could also mean books, because they are able to reach a large number of people, though it takes longer to reach the audiences because of production and distribution times. Now, of course, things like television, internet, magazines, and newspapers usually reach more people, there are many books that have sold millions of copies. Some of these include religious text like the Bible about 2.5 billion have been sold, The Koran at about 3 billion sold and the Book of Mormon at about 150 million.(1,3) Other famous books that have sold in the millions according to Ranker.com are A Tale of Two Cities with over 200 million sold and Lord of the Rings with 150 million sold.(2) There are even some children s books that have sold millions of copies like The Cat in the Hat and the Hungry Caterpillar.(2) Just these numbers alone are enough to be included in the definition of mass media. When the problem is accessible and simultaneously acts as an intellectual stimulant I recognise an automatic leveraging of inner resources and a gearing up of the mind to solve the issue. • 23. Good vs. Evil Good Vs. Evil In Beowulf, the conflict between good and evil is the poem s main and most important aspect. The poet makes it clear that good and evil doesn t exist as only opposites, but that both qualities are present in everyone. Beowulf represents the ability to do good or to perform acts selflessly and in help of others. Goodness is also showed throughout this epic as having the ability to cleanse evil. Even though evil is presented by Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon, who are filled with a desire to act against people and ultimately destroy them, even pride, a human quality, is presented in Beowulf as a sign that evil exists. He often talked about his accomplishments saying, They had seen me bolstered in the blood of enemies when I battled and bound five beasts, raided a troll nest and in the night sea slaughtered sea brutes. For example, in the end of Beowulf, although Grendel was killed by Beowulf as well as his mother, Beowulf still dies. In other words, just because evil is defeated doesn t mean good will always live. On a different but similar note, is Grendel s mother, who is seen as vengeful. Different, because she isn t the same type of evil that Grendel is, but similar because she is still an opponent to both men and the society of man at the time that Beowulf was written, or rather, spoken. Also, Grendel s mother is tainted in the opposite way that Grendel is; while Grendel is given a humanistic point of view, people try to dehumanize Grendel s mother. While she is indeed just as evil as Grendel was, she does not represent the utter evil that man must fight to achieve immortality. She is a symbol of defiance of man, but she can be seen as more of a neutral symbol. Grendel s mother doesn t attack Heorot because she doesn t like it. She attacks it because Beowulf killed her only son, But now his mother had sallied forth on a savage journey, grief racked and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this scene, the characters follow part of the story of Abraham and Isaac. In the show, Negan fulfills the role of God (which he would, undoubtedly, appreciate), Rick is Abraham, and Carl is Isaac. Negan demands a personal sacrifice of Rick that will protect other people, but cause profound damage to his son and himself. Negan demands fulfillment up until Rick has resigned himself to cutting of Carl s arm. Negan does not need Rick to actually complete the act, he just needs Rick to accept his domination. It functions not only as a test of Rick s sense of duty to his people and the power of his fear, but also makes Rick grateful to Negan. In April of this year, Apple refused the FBI s request to open up the iPhone of Syed Rizwan Farook, who shot and killed 14 people in San Bernadino, California. Bergstein opens by relating the story of Devon Godfrey, who was shot in 2010. After using security camera footage to wrongly arrest the suspect on charge of murder, Godfrey s iPhonerevealed that the murderer was someone entirely different. He first points out that since their release, iPhones have replaced a lot of the evidence that was used in the past, such as cameras and notepads. Logically, this would mean that investigations are more difficult than they were in the past, because investigators have lost sources of evidence. This also supports the argument that authorities should have access to iPhones, because everything on them were accessible in different forms in the past. Bergstein then attempts to strengthen his argument by using the opinions of other important figures. First, he quotes Cyrus VanceJr., the District Attorney in Manhattan, who thinks the federal government should pass a law that would require the makers of smartphone operating systems to be able to give data to investigators. Bergstein wants the reader to see that someone with a lot of experience in the matter, shares his opinion. I think this also hurts his argument slightly, in that he picked a person with an obvious bias towards his cause. Bergstein himself recognizes this, and so he brings in another authority figure s opinion: Apple s CEO, Tim Cook. According to Bergstein, Tim Cook conceded that smartphones could impede justice. I think it was an intelligent decision to balance the source of opinions he included in his article, and although the reader knows Tim Cook disagrees overall that smartphones should be accessible by government officials, he does agree that Bergstein and Vance have a ... • 41. Soccer Benefits Soccer has been played for nearly three thousand years and is considered the world s most popular sport. The sport is regularly seen as a hobby however for me it is a pleasant method for learning long lasting lessons. I was introduced to soccer when I was ten years old. I started by playing street soccer and afterward I proceeded to playing on an actual league. As I gradually got better at soccer I picked up abilities that I would use in everyday life. As I had stated, soccer is very popular but why are the benefits unheard of? Why are parents not being told at all? Soccer is vital for children. Children who play soccer experience lifelong benefits such as the building of social skills, discipline, and a healthier lifestyle. One benefit that children gain from playing soccer is they build social skills. For example, being able to communicate with the team is essential. When I first started I was very shy. I did not communicate and the effect was I performed terribly on the field. Once I learned to communicate I effectively played better. These skills also benefited me outside of the sport and I was able to make friends effortlessly and be more comfortable with myself. Being able to communicate also helps by being able to work as a team. Teamwork is critical because one itself cannot score a goal on its own. Being able to depend on someone helped me work smoothly. I was also able to perform even better than if I were to work alone on the field or on any other tasks. Social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ruggiero Communications Department University of Texas at El Paso Some mass communications scholars have contended that uses and gratifications is not a rigorous social science theory. In this article, I argue just the opposite, and any attempt to speculate on the future direction of mass communication theory must seriously include the uses and gratifications approach. In this article, I assert that the emergence of computer mediated communication has revived the significance of uses and gratifications. In fact, uses and gratifications has always provided a cutting edge theoretical approach in the initial stages of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wimmer and Dominick (1994) proposed that U G began in the 1940s when researchers became interested in why audiences engaged in various forms of media behavior, such as listening to the radio or reading the newspaper. Still others credit the U G perspective with Schramm s (1949) immediate reward and delayed reward model of media gratifications (Dozier Rice, 1984). Regardless, early U G studies were primarily descriptive, seeking to classify the responses of audience members into meaningful categories (Berelson, Lazarsfeld, McPhee, 1954; Katz Lazarsfeld, 1955; Lazarsfeld, Berelson, Gaudet, 1948; Merton, 1949). Most scholars agree that early research had little theoretical coherence and was primarily behaviorist and individualist in its methodological tendencies (McQuail, 1994). The researchers shared a qualitative approach by attempting to group gratifi USES AND GRATIFICATIONS THEORY 5 cation statements into labeled categories, largely ignoring their frequency distribution in the population. The earliest researchers for the most part did not attempt to explore the links between the gratifications detected and the psychological or sociological origins of the needs satisfied. • 44. New York City Vs. Los Angeles New York City vs. Los Angeles: East Coast to West Coast For Christmas and my sixteenth birthday present my parents planned a trip for me to go to New York City with my dad. Two days after Christmas me and my dad hopped on the plane and headed for New Jersey and New York City. I was very excited because I had been to New Jersey but I never visited New York Citybefore. I also remember being excited because of that fact that I would actually get to see snow in the winter since it rarely ever snowed in Houston during the winter. Then that next year during my junior year in High School, I had the opportunity to go on a trip to Los Angeles with my drill team. I was very excited to get to go to both of these huge awesome cities in that two year period. Both of these cities were unique in their own way. So what makes a city similar to another city and what makes a city different to another city? The people, the weather, the vibe, the monuments and popular attractions are all some of the components of what makes a city unlike any other city. My two favorite cities besides Houston are New York and Los Angeles. I have visited both and like them both equally for different reasons. While New York and Los Angeles definitely have their similarities, they also have many differences that set them apart from each other. In New York they experience all four seasons. The leaves change colors in the fall, it snows in the winter, the grass gets greener because it rains a lot in the spring, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his article Relations Natural and Unnatural, Richard B. Hays states that after deciding what Paul thought concerning homosexuality, we should still decide how to construe the authority of his opinion in the present time. There are many open questions about how the bible functions as an authority for normative ethical judgments. We cannot ease ourselves of the obligation for moral decision by engaging to the plain sense of single proof text, but on the flip side, should we feel constrained to pressure Paul, through exegetical scowls, to verbalize what we cerebrate he ought to have verbalized. We must let the text have its verbally express, and then we must choose what obedience to God requires. Also the article express how the heated debate triggers questions that are concerning the possible misuse of the biblical teachings as in the edifications that are used in later historical settings.
