Community Policing Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of community policing can be both challenging and rewarding.
The difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of the concept but
also in the necessity to delve into various aspects such as its history, implementation,
effectiveness, challenges, and potential future developments. The multifaceted nature of
community policing requires in-depth research to grasp its nuances and complexities.
Moreover, the essay should go beyond surface-level discussions and provide a critical analysis of
the role of law enforcement within communities, exploring both the positive impacts and
potential drawbacks of community policing strategies. Balancing a nuanced perspective while
presenting evidence and examples to support arguments adds another layer of complexity to the
writing process.
Furthermore, addressing the societal and cultural implications of community policing involves
navigating a diverse range of perspectives and opinions. It requires careful consideration of the
varied experiences and concerns of different communities, making the essay not only an exercise
in academic research but also a test of empathy and cultural understanding.
Despite the challenges, composing an essay on community policing offers an opportunity for
personal growth and an enhanced understanding of the complexities within the realm of law
enforcement and community relations. It demands a skillful blend of research, critical thinking,
and effective communication to convey a well-rounded perspective on the topic.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on community policing is undoubtedly a demanding task, but it
is one that can deepen one's knowledge of this crucial aspect of law enforcement and its impact
on society. The rewards lie not only in the successful navigation of the intricate details but also
in contributing to a broader conversation about the future of policing and community
engagement.

Tips To Spine In Baseball
There are many things to pitching in baseball, such as how to grip the ball and the
movements of your body. Your arms have to be in a certain position and you have
to release the ball at the right time or you will not throw a good pitch. Your landing
leg has to also be in a good position before and after throwing the ball. If your leg
crosses your body, then you are in a position of being hit easier because you have less
time to react to the ball. Your leg is supposed to land forward so you are facing
home plate and ready to catch the ball if it is hit right back to you. To pitch and
throw with a lower risk of hurting your arm, is to use all your body to throw the ball.
Starting with your legs and your core, having strong legs and
Snow White Research Paper
Snow White...was as beautiful as the light of day, even more beautiful than the
queen herself. Snow White s beauty is a recurring theme in both the Disney
animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and in the original Grimm s
fairy tale, Little Snow White. Snow White s beauty is what makes her life change.
As a child, her beauty is what causes her to be in danger, when the huntsman is
ordered to kill Snow white, it is what saves her life, and finally, after Snow White s
death, it is her beauty that causes the prince to want her.
In the original Grimm s fairy tale, Snow White s mother wishes for a child ...as
white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as...wood. Unfortunately, in both the fairy
tale and the Disney movie, Snow White s mother
The Leadership Of A Volunteer Adult Leader
1.You are the new Leading Petty Officer , a phrase uttered to me by a volunteer adult
leader as a 15 year old Naval Sea Cadet following the division s tragic loss of two
petty officers, in what the media dubbed as the Hail Mary Murder (reference a). A
year into my experience as a Sea Cadet, when the senior youth leader died at the
hands of another cadet petty officer. A third senior cadet, who s relationship was
close to the other two, dropped out of the program as he couldn t bear the trauma of
coming back to the division. That left me next in the cadet chain of command. At 15
years old, this unfortunate event put me in charge of about 20 other teenagers, all
reeling from the loss of our friends and youth leaders. To say nothing of the fact that
getting a new role in this manner is terrible, it happened, and together we needed to
help the unit recover and move on with our teenaged lives.
2.The moments that shaped my lens through which leadership is pulled into focus are
plentiful and occurred over time. The first, shared above, was being thrust into a
leadership role, completely unprepared for the job. The next was my becoming a
Coast Guard (CG) Boat Coxswain. This is a matter of great responsibility; CG asset,
CG people, CG mission, all the responsibility of the coxswain. Amazingly, my
coxswain certification was complete simultaneously with my undergraduate
graduation. Consequently, becoming a teacher of science as a civilian job was the

Epigraph for English
You have got to be kidding me! Chastity demanded while blinking rapidly to keep
the tears forming in her eyes from escaping. He had lied to her, yet again. I m
sorry! I didn t mean to, I promise. I was drunk and it just bothered me so... He gave
her the lame excuse he had worn out long ago. Over the past year, Aaron had sworn
to her over and over again that it would be the last time she had to get upset. The
last time he went back on his promise. She knew whenever they had gotten together
that he was going to be more than possessive and controlling, however, she had
never anticipated that it would get to be as bad as it had. Honestly, to anyone else,
it probably wouldn t have been as big of a deal as it was to her. The thing was, he
had known. Before they had gotten together that summer, he had known how she
was, who she was. He had told her he could accept that, that it wouldn t be a
problem for their relationship. His actions, though, proved that to be a lie as well.
No matter what she did, how she tried to reason with him that she needed more
than just their relationship in her life, he treated her as if she were a common
tramp; which she definitely was not. She was just sociable. She enjoyed having a
life and friends, both male and female. Really, it was easier for her to relate to guys
most of the time. Girls were caddy and friendships with them were always filled with
so much drama that she preferred to hang out with the guys. She didn t sleep around
with every guy
Mark Hamill Accomplishments
Before I mentioned that Mark Hamill hasn t had many major on screen roles but he
has had a very successful career as a voice actor and is mainly famous for voicing
the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham video game
series. He has been voicing the Joker for 18 years in nearly every project, as fans
get grumpy when somebody else is cast in his stead. (Forbes.com, 2015). He is
adored by fans as the quote by Forbes states, people want him that much that they
are ready to get in touch with the producers of the project and voice their concern as
the feel that Mark Hamill is the only person capable of performing the role of the
Jokerto the standard they want. This strengthens the argument for him being a cult
star as there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mark Hamill is a cult star because of whom he played in Star Wars. By playing
Luke Skywalker he made his career but at the same time ruined it because
everyone knew who he was and he was known worldwide but not the actor he is.
Instead of gaining his own identity of Mark Hamill, the actor, he was tied to the
identity Luke Skywalker for a few different reasons such as facial scars and not
having many other on screen roles compared to his co stars. This directly impacted
him in a few roles because people didn t want Luke Skywalker in their film. He is a
cult star because he has a loyal fan base for both Star Wars and the Animated Batman
Series as the voice of the Joker. He is classed as a cult star because of the voice
acting, just because it isn t a on screen role doesn t mean he cant be cult because of
it. He has a loyal fan base that loves his voice acting skills and don t want him to
pass the mantle to another voice actor because he is one of the best Joker voices.
Even with his voice acting work he still doesn t have his own identity because
when I was researching about Mark Hamill and the Joker I started talking to
someone and I asked him If he knew who voices the animated Joker? He replied
Yeah, its Luke

By contrast, software defined radio technology provides an efficient and
comparatively inexpensive solution to this problem, using software upgrades. SDR
defines a collection of hardware and software technologies where some or all of the
radio s operating functions are implemented through modifiable software or firmware
operating on programmable processing technologies.
1.2 A Brief History of SDR
An SDR is a radio in which the properties of carrier frequency, signal bandwidth,
modulation, and network access are defined by software. Today s modern SDR also
implements any necessary cryptography; forward error correction (FEC) coding; and
source coding of voice, video, or data in software as well.
The roots of SDR design go back to 1987, when Air Force Rome Labs (AFRL) funded
the development of a programmable modem as an evolutionary step beyond the
architecture of the integrated communications, navigation, and identification
architecture (ICNIA).
Today s SDR, in contrast, is a general purpose device in which the same radio tuner
and processors are used to implement many waveforms at many frequencies. The
advantage of this approach is that the equipment is more versatile and cost effective.

MMX or Multi Media Extention is the latest technology from Intel for their
computer processor chips and is now becoming available in some high quality, mid
priced computer systems. In this essay, I will discuss the technology and what it

of industries leading manufacturers. The systems discussed here are the Gateway
2000 P55C 200 FPC, the Packard Bell NEC Platinum 2240, and the Compaq Presario

Due to the improvements, the media experience is fuller, smoother, and much more
realistic, while maintaining complete compatibility with Intel based PCs, existing
operating systems, and application software.
All three of the complete package systems evaluated in this essay received high
recommendation scores in a recent review from Family PC magazine. Even though
their review scores were nearly identical, their are differences in features among the
three manufacturers packages. These different features, as well as, the similar ones
will be listed on their own merits. Also, some commentary about each systems
service and reliability scores will be included in the explanation of each system in
this comparison.
The P55C 200 FPC from Gateway 2000 Inc. is a 200 MHz MMX PC system that
comes with an array of high quality peripherals, such as a plug and play Crystal Scan
monitor featuring Toshiba filtering technology and a new digital control wheel that
makes fine tuning your display as easy as tuning a radiodial, as well as, some fine

Joan Of Arc Analysis
Joan of Arc is portrayed as a woman who came out of nowhere to help the French
win the Hundred Years War with the words of God powering her. Joan was even
considered a gift from God although there were priestly men that thought Joan was a
fake which later contributed to her devastating death at the hands of the English. Joan
became a powerful womanwhen the visions led her to the holy mission of saving
Francewhile using her intellect and sharp tongue when the time called for it. The
eccentric tendencies of Joan is what led to her ultimate downfall. Joan accepted the
role of saving France that was believed to be from god that was sent for her to
fulfill. The visions had a plan that was something only Joan could do and that
would help the France. Joan had a light bulb moment at the siege of OrlГ©ans that
triggered knowledge of her mission... From that moment Jeanne s spiritual way
was closely related to the politics of her land and time [1] Joan decided that God
spoke to her through the angels and that if God proclaimed it then it would be
done. The trip to the Dauphin of France, and having to prove to the Dauphin that
Joan was not a silly peasant girl by having successes in battle. The tactical mind of
Joan brought many victories that were allowed. The contribution of the visions that
showed Joan the role that would be played is that the tide of the 100 year war was
changing in favor of the French and the changing of gender roles started by Joan.

Plantar Dermatosis Research Paper
Plantar dermatosis is a condition involving severe skin chapping of the sole of the
foot. The condition usually affects children between the ages of 7 and 14. It tends to
be worse in the fall and winter months.
CAUSES
Plantar dermatosis is caused by:
Inflammation (the body s way of reacting to injury and/or infection) of the soles of
the feet.
Wearing heavy, nonbreathing socks and shoes that keep the feet moist enough to
cause irritation.
Areas of skin where pressure is normally applied (along the toes, the ball of the foot
and the heel) become brittle and scaly.
Children with allergy problems and eczema seem to be at greater risk for this
condition.

A scraping of affected skin can be examined in a lab to make sure that there is no
bacterial or fungal skin infection.
TREATMENT
To treat plantar dermatosis:
Take off heavy shoes or boots when you come in from the cold. Wear lighter leather
shoes indoors.
Wear cotton socks. Change them a couple of times a day.
Apply topical steroids or other heavy lubricants (such as petroleum jelly) to your feet
twice a day.
At bedtime, apply steroids or creams and wrap your feet in plastic wrap to hold the
lubricant against the affected skin. Your caregiver can help you with specific steroids
and/or creams that can help.
Severe itching may improve with antihistamines such as diphenhydramine.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Change out of wet shoes/socks as soon as possible. It is best to keep your feet dry
when possible.
Avoid rubber or plastic footwear.
Change out of heavy footwear whenever possible.
Wear open sandals in good weather to allow your feet to breathe.
Follow your caregiver s instructions regarding moisturizing your feet.
Keep your feet as clean as possible to avoid getting an
The Paradoxical Theory Of Change
A satisfied life is hard to achieve. There are many behaviors that can be beneficial
in making a more effective life. Some of these factors are personal and internal and
some are external and involve other people. An effective life begins on the inside.
One must be aware of themselves. Change is a key facet of learning and personal
growth. The paradoxical theory of change: personal change tends to occur when
we become aware of what we are as opposed to trying to become what we are not.
To me, this theory of change means that we should beware of our strengths and our
weakness and work to change our weakness to strengths not to change our self to
fit the norm of society. We do not need to change to be like everyone else but to
better ourselves. There are ten rules of change. The ten rules include: all behaviors
are complex, change is frightening, change must be positive, being is easier than
becoming, slower is better, know more, do better, change requires structure,
practice is necessary, new behaviors must be protected, and small successes are
big. Too many people change is intimidating. I have not experienced that many
environmental changes in my life. Coming to college is the first time that I am
living on my own and not in the only town I ve ever lived in. So far I am pretty
adaptable to environmental changes, but I am not as successful with internal
changes. I am comfortable with who I am, but I know there are many weakness
and behaviors that need to be changed to have a better life. A hindrance to a life
that we desire is stress. Stress comes from internal and external forces. The key
with stress is knowing how you respond and what strategies help manage stress.
Stress can cause physical complications as well. Many people suffer physical pain
from stress. I can sometimes get very anxious about stress which feels like my
stomach is tied in knots or the is a pile of rocks lying on my chest. There is a
disease that comes from stress. The disease from stress used to be called
psychosomatic which implies it was just in the head . now the disease is called
psychophysiological disease. The psychophysiological disease accounts for the
consequences stress has on the body. I personally am working on a way to
The Role Of Women In Hedda Gabler
English Lit Written Assignment
Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in
the Victorian Era.
Introduction:
In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the
Victorian era through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England,
women experienced unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders
of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed
Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole
world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of
stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic
heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and
despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. At last,
she frees herself from all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her, by
completing the act of suicide. Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores
the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era.

Even after her success of scandals, Hedda realizes that Judge Brack is still the one,
who holds the upper hand in all affairs, and to express her freedom or at least want
for freedom, she states I am exceedingly glad to think that you have no sort of hold
over me (p. 55). Her words foreshadow the ending of the play as it prepares the
audience for unexpected and uncontrolled actions taken by Hedda. Furthermore, the
ultimate outcome of her actions is Tesmun and Thea working together to re create the
manuscript, which Hedda was unprepared for. Tesmun and Thea take over her last
place of comfort, as she removes her belongings from the drawing room and the

Gerard would pop up to his living room window and yell back, I ll be right out

perpetually bullied. When he was around the playgrounds and in school, for some
reason we d always pick on him and make fun, and I never knew why him. I never

was so desperate for peer interaction that he d come running down in hopes that
today will be the day that we d actually treat him slightly like a friend, but that
never was to be. How deplorable were we to treat someone like this and how is it

Eugenics And Its Impact On Society
Since the 1800s, the school has continually been seen as a means of eliminating
poverty, crime, and social problems (Spring, 2014, p. 83). Society and schools are
closely interdependent. Changes within society cause a need for modifications within
the school system. Similarly, alterations within the schoolsystem impact society.
Previous sociological, historical, and reform movements resulted in drastic
educational and societal changes. These movements varied from the common school
reform to the attempt to control the spread of inferior blood into the general
population (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 1).
This idea of controlling the spread of inferior blood was called eugenics. Eugenics is
the study of the agencies under social control that seek to improve or impair the
racial qualities of future generations either physically or mentally (Stoskopf, 1999,
p. 1). Eugenics is rarely discussed in modern school systems; American s often want
to forget this harmful experiment. However, eugenics has had an insidious effect on
the lives of students and the organization of public schools (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 1).
The eugenics movement believed that criminality, intelligence, and pauperism were
passed down in families as simple dominant or recessive hereditary traits (Stoskopf,
1999, p. 1). Eugenicists decided to sterilize many families who may carry these traits.
They argued, America must be kept American (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 2). This concept
provided the guiding ideology behind
Definitions Of Family In Kurdistan
Family in Kurdistan In this essay, I will be exploring an essential word that can be
understood or elucidated in various ways based on three perceptions, which is
Family. The word family is defined as a group consisting of one or two parents,
their children and close relations according to Oxford dictionary. However, the word
family is described differently bases on the people s educational level in Kurdistan.
Firstly, among the educated or modernized members of the community family is
defined as the source in which they gain their respect and pride. Moreover, this
class of the community is either less or not patriarchal, and all of the family
members have the same rights without exceptions. On the other hand, while the
majority of Kurdistan s population has a low educational background, therefore
the uneducated portion of our society defines family as several relatives in a house
that is mostly led by a male, and moral values are considered to be related to
females. In contrast to all, I believe that family does not relate only to blood
relatives or living things. Instead, family can relate to the people and things that get
along and are based on each other, therefore, one loses its value in the absence of the
other. Hence, in this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a person, who grows within this complex culture, but studies with foreign
people and interested in social relations; I think family is not merely about blood
relatives or living things. Instead, family can represent the people and things that
get along and are based on each other as one loses its value in the absence of the
other either it would be mentally or realistically. To illustrate, within the human
societies two people can be called a family when one of them could not do anything
without the other s help or performance. However, same thing applies to the non
living things, such as pen and paper. The value of pen would be lost if there was no
The Counterculture 2001 A Space Odyssey
The Cinema has became one of America s favorite past times. The artistry and the
technology has captured American audiences, giving films influence over our
culture. The film industry can easily change people s opinions, without much work
Hollywood can make us hate the villains and love the heroes. Through this we see
the power that the cinema industry has grown to have, and the influence it has in our
society. However it is also our society who possess even greater influence over the
filmindustry. It is the audience who dictates what movies should be popular because
we are the reviewers and consumers. We have seen how our society has had the
greater influence over films, one example is the counterculture era of the 60 s. The

Science Field And The Block Chain Essay
For this section I will talk about nanosensors that are becoming popular in the
medical field and the block chain, which is the digital currency. Although these
two technologies have been here for a while, it is only recently that they have their
own spotlight in the emerging technologies as they have advanced greatly from
what they were before to what is planned for them. Nanosensors are sensors that
have been shirked by scientist over the years, currently these nanosensors are very
effective in the science field, including surgical, however IoNT or more commonly
known as Internet of Nano Things hope to take it to the next step towards not only
the medicine side, but they believe that nanosensors will be able to assist with
energy efficiency and other fields into a new height. These devices work like
normal sensors, with the intelligence to be able to expose information and data
however nanosensors are designed to be at the size of the Nano scale. These
nanosensors are very popular in the medical field due to the fact that they are
designed to be able to detect cells or body parts of a living being that are failing.
They work by calculating and measuring ups downs and changes, displacement,
dislocations, concentration, volume, acceleration, external forces pressure or
temperature of each cell in the living body [1]. Nanosensors are commonly
programmed to have the ability to be able to tell the difference between ordinary and
irregular, these nanosensors will either
Cyber Crime And Cyber Terrorism
Cyber risks can be divided into the following groups (Marsh, 2013): 1. Physical
loss of systems Physical information technologies systems, i.e., computers, servers
and other electronic equipment are required for the cyber activity. Consequently, it
is very important to consider the risks related to the damage or loss of the physical
electronic equipment. Risks can be for example, internal water damage in the
office building damaging the computers and other equipment or fire in server
room as a result of temperature change and other risks. 2. Cyber crime and cyber
terrorism Cyber crime is illegal actions taken by criminals for financial gain, which
is done by the use of the internet and other electronic systems in order to illegally
access or attack information and services used by business and citizens
(CabinetOffice, 2011). Acts that are directed towards the influencing or defeating the
particular government or state are called cyber terrorism. Businesses operating in
areas that are linked to the government, for example communications, transport,
health must be most concerned to cyber terrorism; as they are the biggest target for
a cyber terrorism attacks (Marsh, 2013). Cyber crime cost of UK business and
citizens is valued at ВЈ27 billion annually. A considerable portion of this cost comes
from the theft of intellectual property, which is estimated at ВЈ9.2 billion. The main
loser as a result of cyber crime is UK business which cost is estimated at ВЈ21
billion. Main

The average annual salary in Pennsylvania is $57,220 with a starting wage of
$31,680 and a high wage of $92,240 ( Animal Scientists ). It s a decent salary, but I
don t see it as being enough to support my wants and needs in the future.
Educational requirements for this career require graduate school, may require a

believe I am capable of achieving the educational requirements. In Pennsylvania,
there are currently 65 openings, so getting a job is likely. Knowing biology,
mathematics, and chemistry are some basic skills of this career (Animal

would prefer not to work with chemistry. I personally do not think I am very likely to
pursue this career because the salary is lower than I would like. It could be a possible

Abnormal Behavior And Aberrant Behavior
While no commonly recognized definition of the term abnormality exists to examine
the observations described below, most descriptions of aberrant behavior share some
common aspects, namely, deviance, dysfunction, danger and distress ( four Ds ). In
other words, mental aberration patterns are usually deviant (atypical, out of the
ordinary, radical, possibly even strange), distressing (distasteful and disturbing to the
individual), potentially dangerous, and dysfunctional (hampering the individual s
capacity of carrying out everyday tasks constructively). Such a broad description
provides a valuable basis for examining the abnormal phenomena outlined in this
paper (Comer, 2013).
A few days ago, I met twenty eight year old Joanna, a friend ... Show more content on

While she expressed concerns about this issue, she claimed there was no way she
could control it.
Joanna clearly exhibits dysfunctional behavior which hampers her everyday
functioning. Dysfunctional conduct distresses, confuses and sidetracks
individuals such that their productivity and participation in normal social activities
gets adversely affected and they are unable to adequately take care of themselves
(Comer, 2013). This is evident in Joanna s sleep disturbances, chronic anxiety,
joblessness, and negative impact on her health. Her conduct distresses her and is
evidently deviant from normal behavior. Hence, it may be considered an abnormal
occurrence which defies principles of normalcy. Our cultural and societal norms
highlight the significance of effectively performing everyday activities.
Obsessions such as those exhibited by Joanna aren t an ordinary component of
and individual s behavior. Joanna s habits will probably be perceived as
unwelcome and atypical. Her activities may be considered abnormal as they are
consistent with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) symptoms, which involve
repeated compulsions and obsessions capable of greatly interfering with a person s
everyday activities. OCD symptoms generally have 4 key facets: obsessions linked
to checking compulsions, obsessions with cleanliness linked to a compulsion to wash
and clean constantly, hoarding related habits, and a need for order and symmetry.

Other observations were made regarding the nearby stars GJ667A and GJ667B.
The age of these two stars were estimated to be between 2 10 billion years old, thus
GJ667C was similar in age. The mass of GJ667C star was to be around 0.33 Msun.
The luminosity and surface temperature of GJ 667C using models for the mass,
metallicity, and age. The orbital data for this star showed a slightly eccentric orbit
of 0.27. The boundaries were determined for the zone where liquid water could
exist on an Earth like planet and planet c was found within that boundary. The data
was also compared to known limits that make Venus uninhabitable and Mars
habitable. The ultimate capability to support liquid water depends on other
properties that are not known. There needs to be more studies on climate and
geological models to assess chances of supporting life on this Earth like planet.
Finally, there were more observations of signals with longer periods but the data had
poor fits and were unstable on time scales, so they were not used.
Malleus Maleficarum Essay
Malleus Maleficarum
Heinrich Kramer, a Dominican friar, wrote the Malleus Maleficarum in 1486. He
believed witches to be members of a vast conspiracy directed against Christian
society that was allowed by God to cause immense physical and spiritual hardship
(Behringer 716). Therefore, Kramer believed the real way to rid witches was through
physical eradication. The start of the manuscript came from his experience in
witchcraft trials in Upper Germany.
Kramer s views on witchcraft and activities weren t well received wherever he went,
particularly authorities that believed he was merely interfering with the local
administration. Annoyed at the opposition, he obtained papal rights for Pope
Innocent VIII s witchcraft prosecutions through ... Show more content on

Also, all witchcraft stems from carnal lust, a quality insatiable to women.
Based upon Augustine and Aquinas, Kramer gives a conventional description of the
crime of witchcraft: witches could not themselves harm anyone through magic, but
their abilities derived from a contract with a demon, which in turn was empowered
by God (Behringer 720). Although the premise of the contract is not discussed in
detail, there is the explicit pact, which may be the literal signing of a contract and
specific subjugation to the devil and the implicit pact, which is carried out whenever
magic is practiced. By selling ones soul, one comes under the control of the devil,
who is consequently under the control of God. Even though still under God s
ultimate control, allegiance to the devil is very much the opposite of allegiance to
God.
Since most of the Malleus is composed of unoriginal ideas, it would be important to
focus on Kramer s own ideas. This starts with Kramer s belief that witchcraft was a
real crime and not a spiritual one. It is difficult to fully grasp this concept because it
is demons who conducted supernatural interventions which made the witch s crime
her desire to harm (Behringer 721). Since the witch is not able to induce harm
herself but rather through the demon as a middleman of sorts, there is a grey area
between real

impacted fields of globalization. For the best development and other reasons, more

mergers and acquisitions occurred as their predictable and unavoidable consequences,
leaders and managers should be able to understand conflicts, indentify and classify

Revolutionary War Salutary Neglect Analysis
Every event leads to another. The moment the pilgrims departed from England and
landed at Plymouth, they set the stage for the following events in American history.
In the years to come, the colonists experienced a form of salutary neglect from the
motherland, Britain, and delighted in a new found freedom. Although Britain created
the rules and guidelines for America, they were poorly enforced. After all, America
was 3,000 miles away. America initiated a few revolutionary movements, including
Bacon s Rebellion; however, Britain quickly extinguished them. As an extension of
Britain, America was expected to fight alongside their troops; this plays a crucial role
in the French and Indian War (Seven Years War). Throughout 1754 1763, Americans

After all, wars are expensive. The amount of food and supplies needed for the
soldiers, along with their salary, costs millions, if not more. To regain money, Britain
began charging the colonists more; however, their reasoning extended past the war s
cost. The British leaders, like George Grenville and Charles Townshend, claimed that
the laws needed to be enforced because the colonists were British subjects and needed
to be protected and watched over. However, this mentality of imposing taxes
overstepped the line of control, especially after the extended period of salutary
neglect. The British started to tax the colonists in a way to show their dominance, not
their support or love. After all, who did the Americans need protection from? In the
Seven Years War, Americans proved their strength against the French by winning
battles without Britain s help, and the colonist had been dealing with the Indians
since the beginning. The only explanation is control. Similarly, during the Qin
dynasty in China, the emperor enforced heavy taxes to gain control over the
merchants and landowners; however, the plan eventually fell through. With the same
approach, Americans began to feel annoyed and uneasy with the
Caliban Misunderstood Character
Caliban, a very misunderstood character, while he may seem to be the monster on
the outside. He isn t who he appears to be. He is simply a product of his
environment. Before Prospero showed up the island was his, Caliban s mother had
left him the island, but now he is only a slave to Prospero, who tortures him. So it
sounds to me that Calibanisn t in fact the monster, and the monster may actually be
the person that you didn t expect it to be. So it turns out Caliban isn t the monster,
and he is simply a product of his environment. Caliban stood against Prospero
because he was treating his horribly. I don t know about you but it sound like a
pretty human thing to do, it s in human nature to stand against people who have not
only stolen from you, but also treated you as a slave. For this, be sure, thou shalt
have cramps, Side stitches that shall pen thy breath up. (Act 1, Scene 2, page 16)
Now I don t know if you understood that but it means I will give you horrible pains
in your sides that are so painful that you can t breathe. To me that sounds like torture,
would you not rebel against someone who has tortured you? When given the
opportunity to have a new, leader, wouldn t you take it?

I think that in this story there isn t really a villain, besides Antonio and Sebastian.
But Caliban is not the enemy. To me Caliban is the one who makes you question
the protagonist, who appears to be Prospero. In fact Caliban and Prospero have a
somewhat similar background. They both were driven from their land. Prospero
was chased out by Antonio, and Caliban chased out by Prospero. They both want
their old power back, how Prospero wishes for his old statis back as Duke of Milan,
and Caliban wants the island back, these two men both yearn for what used to be

Boys learn at a young how to climb and provide for their families. This theme of
nature culture is very prominent in this chapter, because without learning to climb
they would have a lot less food to feed to their families.
Quote: I began to feel my ribs when I touched my sides ... Later in the evening, the
boy s mother gave each of us an ear of corn (Beah 30 31).
Explanation: The theme nature culture is used in this quote as the author talks about
how hungry he is, and also how a woman gave them corn she had grown. Nature
culture helps us investigate how groups of people interact with the Earth s
biophysical environment and examine how the culture, politics, and economies of
those groups affect their ecological situation and resource use. The author and his
friends are currently fleeing from the RUF. The RUF is an army made of young
boys. While the boys are fleeing they have no food, but when they find a young boy
who has food, they take his food and eat it themselves. But the mother of the child
takes pity on the boys and gives them each their own ear of corn she has grown. This
is an example of nature culture, because it shows how people are utilizing the Earth
and its resources to survive in tough situations. Also the town that they wandered into
has a farming culture; this is how the people of that town make money by selling
their corn, and how they also live healthy lives from the nutritional value

Religion In Beowulf
Mythology is a series of stories made by one culture to entertain or to increase the
knowledge of their own beliefs to the world. Over the last few centuries, many
cultures have created stories to demonstrate their valiant strength or superiority
amongst other cultures. Not only that, but, they used these myths to increase faith in
their religions. Nevertheless you may find texts confusing because you many think it
is about a hero or the importance of religion. On an example, of a myth that has
received a large amount of criticism is the mythical story of Beowulf. In this literary

Ineffective Measure Of Standardized Testing
Standardized Testing: an Ineffective Measure of College Preparedness
Every year, the daunting prospect of standardized testing brings anxiety to
thousands of high school students. Their stress is for good reason: a student s
performance on college admission exams most importantly, the ACT and SAT is a
major determinant in deciding where they will go to college. For decades, such
standardized tests have been near universally accepted as part of the admissions
process: proponents argue, as Syverson explains, that such tests are the only way of
standardizing assessment when high schools have such widely varying environments
and grading criteria (2007). However, in the past decade a growing anti testing
movement has begun to poke holes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has already been shown that standardized tests are fairly biased, across both race
and socioeconomic status. Because such tests play a large role in most college
admissions decisions, many students are kept from attending colleges solely because
of their test scores. Shifting the focus away from test scores helps disadvantaged and
minority students gain recognition, especially when their intelligence is in areas that
aren t measured by standardized tests. As Geiser argues, standardized testscores
correlate strongly with income level, whereas GPAs do not; thus, GPA is actually a
more standardized approach toward measuring success, at least in the areas in which
standardized tests are most heavily biased. Furthermore, both Hiss and the Tufts
study found that students in the test optional or unconventional admissions
approaches were more likely to be underrepresented minority students, proving that
such college programs are providing opportunities to students who otherwise likely

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polyploidy
Definition: Polyploidy is the heritable condition in which a normally diploid cell or
organism acquires one or more additional sets of chromosomes.
Polyploidy refers to a numerical change in a whole set of chromosomes. Organisms in
which a particular chromosome, or chromosome segment, is under or overrepresented
are said to be aneuploid. Therefore, the distinction between aneuploidy and polyploidy
is that aneuploidy refers to a numerical change in part of the chromosome set,
whereas polyploidy refers to a numerical change in the whole set of chromosomes.

However, these epigenetic changes might instead increase diversity and plasticity
by allowing for rapid adaptation in polyploids. One example may be the
widespread dispersal of the invasive allopolyploid Spartina angelica. However, it is
not clear whether the success of this species can be attributed to fixed heterosis or
to the increased variability that results from epigenetic remodeling. Polyploidy is
also believed to play a role in the rapid adaptation of some allopolyploid arctic flora,
probably because their genomes confer hybrid vigor and buffer against the effects
of inbreeding. However, fertility barriers between species often need to be overcome
in order to form successful allopolyploids, and these barriers may have an epigenetic

Watt expresses moments of silence throughout the film to suggest the dept of emotion
when a personal tragedy strikes us and how words are sometimes useless to those
who are suffering from grief. The train driver sits at his kitchen table in silent grief,
being watched by his wife. Sometimes people turn inward when they are grieving,
while those around them quietly offer/give them support. For example when the
train drivers son brings him a beer and they drink together in silence. This scene
was shot from a distance; just as Nicks front page photo of Julia is a long distance
shot too. The camera looks through windows and doorways at Julia as she tries to
deal with the death of Rob. The family members carefully tread around her, never
entering her personal space. When the silences during the film are broken this has
more impact. At the end of the film, the only words we hear the train driver say are
I m the train driver. I m sorry. And Julia replies: It wasn t your fault . Julia smiles
for the first time in the film as the driver and his son leave, which adds to the positive
mood at the end of the film, once again suggesting that positive interactions with
others can help us to deal with our personal tragedies.
Watt doesn t show very much of Joan throughout the film, but from the scenes she
stars in we learn she doesn t dwell on the past. Joan makes the most of
Hillbilly Elegy Literary Analysis
There is an element of human nature that compels us to watch when tragedy
strikes, like when a car crashes on the side of the road or the news story of a
natural disaster hits. It is terrible and sorrowful, but we still watch. It is when the
factor of a child is involved that people stop just watching, but instead begin to act.
In a similar fashion, when a horror story is told from the mouth of a child, the sheer
wrongness and sense of loss is magnified by the guilness nature of children in
relating stories. In this way, Vance utilizes a childhood persona in his memoir
Hillbilly Elegy to convey aspects of his childhood that were traumatic or revolting
without forcing image of a self pitying victim onto the reader. Using this childhood
persona, which is wrapped in innocence and simplicity, the horrors and realities of his
upbringing and hometown are put in sharp relief with the casual relaying of the

The best example of the simple storytelling of the child persona is when he
discusses his grandmother setting her husband on fire with the intent to kill him.
The persona camly states, Mamaw, never one to tell a lie, camly retrieved a
gasoline canister from the garage, poured it all over her husband, lit a match, and
dropped it on his chest (43). The childhood persona of Vance depicts this event
with minimal description or added narrative, and instead the reader is allowed to
reconstruct the event in their mind. This method is a success for two reasons; first,
it is because the event is told with no fanfare or exaggeration, which makes the child
persona much more believable and trustworthy in the eyes of the reader. Vance could
have, in his adult persona, told of the traumatic horrors of burning someone alive or
tried to fit in as many grisly details to try to force sympathy, but he

out that Tyler was just a figment of his imagination in which he himself is Tyler. The
film portrays mental illness in that the protagonist has Dissociative Identity Disorder
which is quite self referential in that the film utilises the figures of the mad. In its

start firing at the defenseless crowd. To calm the situation down, Governor
Hutchinson, promised the people to imprison the captain and soldiers, and they
would also be trial upon their action. In the afternoon, the Sons of Liberty held a

Most of the city states started fighting over influence until Hammurabi who ruled the
Babylonians took control of most of that area after a military campaign that had
been successful. Babylon made the first written system of laws which was a giant
tower which had all the laws written on it and they also created one of the seven
wonders of the world. After that the Assyrians destroyed the Babylonian empire and
took over mesopotamia Assyrians used iron weapons torture and fear against their
opponents.
Babylonians believed in many gods but the most important god was Marduk who
outshone all of the gods in fact he was so important that they made him his own

Babylon made the hanging gardens for his wife because she missed the look of her
homeland. So he made the hanging gardens so that she could remember how it
looked. Scholars think it was between 80 and 300 ft.

1 How has the economic downturn impacted trends in protectionism and
nationalization?
Answer:
As the fallout from the financial meltdown spread around the world in 2009,
nationalist impulses gathered a storm as government maneuvers to take stakes in
ailing industries were verging on partial or full nationalization though, for the most
part, not forcing it. Japan, for example, took a cue from the United States in taking
majority stakes in major banks; while in Russia, the Kremlin was exploiting the
economic crisis to establish more control over industries that it had long coveted,
such as energy.

5 Explain what is meant by the economic risk of a nation. Use a specific country as
an example. Can economic risk in this country be anticipated? How? How does
economic instability affect other nations?
Answer:
The definition of economic risk of this chapter defines economic risk as the level of
uncertainty about the ability of a country to meet its financial obligations, there is an
inverse correlation between economic stability and risk because economic risk is
greatest in lesser development countries, such as those in Africa and Latin America.
A good example of a country with economic risk is Argentina, this country
experienced extreme economic growth but then the economy crashed. This was due
to poor fiscal policies; high inflation and debts. Economic risks can be

Community Policing Essay

  • 1. Community Policing Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of community policing can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of the concept but also in the necessity to delve into various aspects such as its history, implementation, effectiveness, challenges, and potential future developments. The multifaceted nature of community policing requires in-depth research to grasp its nuances and complexities. Moreover, the essay should go beyond surface-level discussions and provide a critical analysis of the role of law enforcement within communities, exploring both the positive impacts and potential drawbacks of community policing strategies. Balancing a nuanced perspective while presenting evidence and examples to support arguments adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. Furthermore, addressing the societal and cultural implications of community policing involves navigating a diverse range of perspectives and opinions. It requires careful consideration of the varied experiences and concerns of different communities, making the essay not only an exercise in academic research but also a test of empathy and cultural understanding. Despite the challenges, composing an essay on community policing offers an opportunity for personal growth and an enhanced understanding of the complexities within the realm of law enforcement and community relations. It demands a skillful blend of research, critical thinking, and effective communication to convey a well-rounded perspective on the topic. In conclusion, tackling an essay on community policing is undoubtedly a demanding task, but it is one that can deepen one's knowledge of this crucial aspect of law enforcement and its impact on society. The rewards lie not only in the successful navigation of the intricate details but also in contributing to a broader conversation about the future of policing and community engagement. • 2. Tips To Spine In Baseball There are many things to pitching in baseball, such as how to grip the ball and the movements of your body. Your arms have to be in a certain position and you have to release the ball at the right time or you will not throw a good pitch. Your landing leg has to also be in a good position before and after throwing the ball. If your leg crosses your body, then you are in a position of being hit easier because you have less time to react to the ball. Your leg is supposed to land forward so you are facing home plate and ready to catch the ball if it is hit right back to you. To pitch and throw with a lower risk of hurting your arm, is to use all your body to throw the ball. Starting with your legs and your core, having strong legs and

Snow White s beauty is a recurring theme in both the Disney animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and in the original Grimm s fairy tale, Little Snow White. Snow White s beauty is what makes her life change. As a child, her beauty is what causes her to be in danger, when the huntsman is ordered to kill Snow white, it is what saves her life, and finally, after Snow White s death, it is her beauty that causes the prince to want her. In the original Grimm s fairy tale, Snow White s mother wishes for a child ...as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as...wood. Unfortunately, in both the fairy tale and the Disney movie, Snow White s mother
  • 4. The Leadership Of A Volunteer Adult Leader 1.You are the new Leading Petty Officer , a phrase uttered to me by a volunteer adult leader as a 15 year old Naval Sea Cadet following the division s tragic loss of two petty officers, in what the media dubbed as the Hail Mary Murder (reference a). A year into my experience as a Sea Cadet, when the senior youth leader died at the hands of another cadet petty officer. A third senior cadet, who s relationship was close to the other two, dropped out of the program as he couldn t bear the trauma of coming back to the division. That left me next in the cadet chain of command. At 15 years old, this unfortunate event put me in charge of about 20 other teenagers, all reeling from the loss of our friends and youth leaders. To say nothing of the fact that getting a new role in this manner is terrible, it happened, and together we needed to help the unit recover and move on with our teenaged lives. 2.The moments that shaped my lens through which leadership is pulled into focus are plentiful and occurred over time. The first, shared above, was being thrust into a leadership role, completely unprepared for the job. The next was my becoming a Coast Guard (CG) Boat Coxswain. This is a matter of great responsibility; CG asset, CG people, CG mission, all the responsibility of the coxswain. Amazingly, my coxswain certification was complete simultaneously with my undergraduate graduation. Consequently, becoming a teacher of science as a civilian job was the next leadership
  • 5. Epigraph for English You have got to be kidding me! Chastity demanded while blinking rapidly to keep the tears forming in her eyes from escaping. He had lied to her, yet again. I m sorry! I didn t mean to, I promise. I was drunk and it just bothered me so... He gave her the lame excuse he had worn out long ago. Over the past year, Aaron had sworn to her over and over again that it would be the last time she had to get upset. The last time he went back on his promise. She knew whenever they had gotten together that he was going to be more than possessive and controlling, however, she had never anticipated that it would get to be as bad as it had. Honestly, to anyone else, it probably wouldn t have been as big of a deal as it was to her. The thing was, he had known. Before they had gotten together that summer, he had known how she was, who she was. He had told her he could accept that, that it wouldn t be a problem for their relationship. His actions, though, proved that to be a lie as well. No matter what she did, how she tried to reason with him that she needed more than just their relationship in her life, he treated her as if she were a common tramp; which she definitely was not. She was just sociable. She enjoyed having a life and friends, both male and female. Really, it was easier for her to relate to guys most of the time. Girls were caddy and friendships with them were always filled with so much drama that she preferred to hang out with the guys. She didn t sleep around with every guy
  • 6. Mark Hamill Accomplishments Before I mentioned that Mark Hamill hasn t had many major on screen roles but he has had a very successful career as a voice actor and is mainly famous for voicing the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham video game series. He has been voicing the Joker for 18 years in nearly every project, as fans get grumpy when somebody else is cast in his stead. (Forbes.com, 2015). He is adored by fans as the quote by Forbes states, people want him that much that they are ready to get in touch with the producers of the project and voice their concern as the feel that Mark Hamill is the only person capable of performing the role of the Jokerto the standard they want. This strengthens the argument for him being a cult star as there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mark Hamill is a cult star because of whom he played in Star Wars. By playing Luke Skywalker he made his career but at the same time ruined it because everyone knew who he was and he was known worldwide but not the actor he is. Instead of gaining his own identity of Mark Hamill, the actor, he was tied to the identity Luke Skywalker for a few different reasons such as facial scars and not having many other on screen roles compared to his co stars. This directly impacted him in a few roles because people didn t want Luke Skywalker in their film. He is a cult star because he has a loyal fan base for both Star Wars and the Animated Batman Series as the voice of the Joker. He is classed as a cult star because of the voice acting, just because it isn t a on screen role doesn t mean he cant be cult because of it. He has a loyal fan base that loves his voice acting skills and don t want him to pass the mantle to another voice actor because he is one of the best Joker voices. Even with his voice acting work he still doesn t have his own identity because when I was researching about Mark Hamill and the Joker I started talking to someone and I asked him If he knew who voices the animated Joker? He replied Yeah, its Luke

SDR defines a collection of hardware and software technologies where some or all of the radio s operating functions are implemented through modifiable software or firmware operating on programmable processing technologies. 1.2 A Brief History of SDR An SDR is a radio in which the properties of carrier frequency, signal bandwidth, modulation, and network access are defined by software. Today s modern SDR also implements any necessary cryptography; forward error correction (FEC) coding; and source coding of voice, video, or data in software as well. The roots of SDR design go back to 1987, when Air Force Rome Labs (AFRL) funded the development of a programmable modem as an evolutionary step beyond the architecture of the integrated communications, navigation, and identification architecture (ICNIA). Today s SDR, in contrast, is a general purpose device in which the same radio tuner and processors are used to implement many waveforms at many frequencies. The advantage of this approach is that the equipment is more versatile and cost effective. 1.3 Role of SDR 1.4.1 Problems faced by Wireless Communication Industry * Commercial Wireless network standards are continuously evolving from 2G to 2.5G/3G and then to 4G. Joan was even considered a gift from God although there were priestly men that thought Joan was a fake which later contributed to her devastating death at the hands of the English. Joan became a powerful womanwhen the visions led her to the holy mission of saving Francewhile using her intellect and sharp tongue when the time called for it. The eccentric tendencies of Joan is what led to her ultimate downfall. Joan accepted the role of saving France that was believed to be from god that was sent for her to fulfill. The visions had a plan that was something only Joan could do and that would help the France. Joan had a light bulb moment at the siege of OrlГ©ans that triggered knowledge of her mission... From that moment Jeanne s spiritual way was closely related to the politics of her land and time [1] Joan decided that God spoke to her through the angels and that if God proclaimed it then it would be done. The condition usually affects children between the ages of 7 and 14. It tends to be worse in the fall and winter months. CAUSES Plantar dermatosis is caused by: Inflammation (the body s way of reacting to injury and/or infection) of the soles of the feet. Wearing heavy, nonbreathing socks and shoes that keep the feet moist enough to cause irritation. Areas of skin where pressure is normally applied (along the toes, the ball of the foot and the heel) become brittle and scaly. • 13. The Paradoxical Theory Of Change A satisfied life is hard to achieve. There are many behaviors that can be beneficial in making a more effective life. Some of these factors are personal and internal and some are external and involve other people. An effective life begins on the inside. One must be aware of themselves. Change is a key facet of learning and personal growth. The paradoxical theory of change: personal change tends to occur when we become aware of what we are as opposed to trying to become what we are not. To me, this theory of change means that we should beware of our strengths and our weakness and work to change our weakness to strengths not to change our self to fit the norm of society. We do not need to change to be like everyone else but to better ourselves. There are ten rules of change. The ten rules include: all behaviors are complex, change is frightening, change must be positive, being is easier than becoming, slower is better, know more, do better, change requires structure, practice is necessary, new behaviors must be protected, and small successes are big. Too many people change is intimidating. I have not experienced that many environmental changes in my life. Coming to college is the first time that I am living on my own and not in the only town I ve ever lived in. So far I am pretty adaptable to environmental changes, but I am not as successful with internal changes. I am comfortable with who I am, but I know there are many weakness and behaviors that need to be changed to have a better life. A hindrance to a life that we desire is stress. Stress comes from internal and external forces. The key with stress is knowing how you respond and what strategies help manage stress. Stress can cause physical complications as well. Many people suffer physical pain from stress. I can sometimes get very anxious about stress which feels like my stomach is tied in knots or the is a pile of rocks lying on my chest. There is a disease that comes from stress. The disease from stress used to be called psychosomatic which implies it was just in the head . now the disease is called psychophysiological disease. Introduction: In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the Victorian era through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England, women experienced unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. At last, she frees herself from all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her, by completing the act of suicide. Her words foreshadow the ending of the play as it prepares the audience for unexpected and uncontrolled actions taken by Hedda. Society and schools are closely interdependent. Changes within society cause a need for modifications within the school system. Similarly, alterations within the schoolsystem impact society. Previous sociological, historical, and reform movements resulted in drastic educational and societal changes. These movements varied from the common school reform to the attempt to control the spread of inferior blood into the general population (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 1). This idea of controlling the spread of inferior blood was called eugenics. Eugenics is the study of the agencies under social control that seek to improve or impair the racial qualities of future generations either physically or mentally (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 1). Eugenics is rarely discussed in modern school systems; American s often want to forget this harmful experiment. However, eugenics has had an insidious effect on the lives of students and the organization of public schools (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 1). The eugenics movement believed that criminality, intelligence, and pauperism were passed down in families as simple dominant or recessive hereditary traits (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 1). Eugenicists decided to sterilize many families who may carry these traits. They argued, America must be kept American (Stoskopf, 1999, p. 2). This concept provided the guiding ideology behind

Definitions Of Family In Kurdistan Family in Kurdistan In this essay, I will be exploring an essential word that can be understood or elucidated in various ways based on three perceptions, which is Family. The word family is defined as a group consisting of one or two parents, their children and close relations according to Oxford dictionary. However, the word family is described differently bases on the people s educational level in Kurdistan. Firstly, among the educated or modernized members of the community family is defined as the source in which they gain their respect and pride. Moreover, this class of the community is either less or not patriarchal, and all of the family members have the same rights without exceptions. On the other hand, while the majority of Kurdistan s population has a low educational background, therefore the uneducated portion of our society defines family as several relatives in a house that is mostly led by a male, and moral values are considered to be related to females. In contrast to all, I believe that family does not relate only to blood relatives or living things. Instead, family can relate to the people and things that get along and are based on each other, therefore, one loses its value in the absence of the other. Hence, in this... Abnormal Behavior And Aberrant Behavior While no commonly recognized definition of the term abnormality exists to examine the observations described below, most descriptions of aberrant behavior share some common aspects, namely, deviance, dysfunction, danger and distress ( four Ds ). In other words, mental aberration patterns are usually deviant (atypical, out of the ordinary, radical, possibly even strange), distressing (distasteful and disturbing to the individual), potentially dangerous, and dysfunctional (hampering the individual s capacity of carrying out everyday tasks constructively). Such a broad description provides a valuable basis for examining the abnormal phenomena outlined in this paper (Comer, 2013). A few days ago, I met twenty eight year old Joanna, a friend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she expressed concerns about this issue, she claimed there was no way she could control it. Joanna clearly exhibits dysfunctional behavior which hampers her everyday functioning. Dysfunctional conduct distresses, confuses and sidetracks individuals such that their productivity and participation in normal social activities gets adversely affected and they are unable to adequately take care of themselves (Comer, 2013). This is evident in Joanna s sleep disturbances, chronic anxiety, joblessness, and negative impact on her health. Her conduct distresses her and is evidently deviant from normal behavior. Hence, it may be considered an abnormal occurrence which defies principles of normalcy. Our cultural and societal norms highlight the significance of effectively performing everyday activities. Obsessions such as those exhibited by Joanna aren t an ordinary component of and individual s behavior. Joanna s habits will probably be perceived as unwelcome and atypical. Her activities may be considered abnormal as they are consistent with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) symptoms, which involve repeated compulsions and obsessions capable of greatly interfering with a person s everyday activities. OCD symptoms generally have 4 key facets: obsessions linked to checking compulsions, obsessions with cleanliness linked to a compulsion to wash and clean constantly, hoarding related habits, and a need for order and symmetry. He believed witches to be members of a vast conspiracy directed against Christian society that was allowed by God to cause immense physical and spiritual hardship (Behringer 716). Therefore, Kramer believed the real way to rid witches was through physical eradication. The start of the manuscript came from his experience in witchcraft trials in Upper Germany. Based upon Augustine and Aquinas, Kramer gives a conventional description of the crime of witchcraft: witches could not themselves harm anyone through magic, but their abilities derived from a contract with a demon, which in turn was empowered by God (Behringer 720). Although the premise of the contract is not discussed in detail, there is the explicit pact, which may be the literal signing of a contract and specific subjugation to the devil and the implicit pact, which is carried out whenever magic is practiced. By selling ones soul, one comes under the control of the devil, who is consequently under the control of God. Even though still under God s ultimate control, allegiance to the devil is very much the opposite of allegiance to God. Since most of the Malleus is composed of unoriginal ideas, it would be important to focus on Kramer s own ideas. This starts with Kramer s belief that witchcraft was a real crime and not a spiritual one. It is difficult to fully grasp this concept because it is demons who conducted supernatural interventions which made the witch s crime her desire to harm (Behringer 721). Since the witch is not able to induce harm herself but rather through the demon as a middleman of sorts, there is a grey area between real

I have been raising Roscoe since he was a puppy and I realized that there isn t much of a difference between the two. They both rely on you to feed them, clean up after them, and love them, they also whine and have accidents. However, a human child will grow up, and be able to take care of themselves while a dog will always rely on you. That is a lot of responsibility that, unfortunately, not a lot of people can handle, which leads to neglect, however, that is a different essay. I wasn t a very good dog trainer when I got Roscoe, so I didn t house train him correctly and I barely was able to teach him to sit. However, I always fed him twice a day, tried to give him daily walks, and cleaned up the yard after him. Having a dog has taught me to be responsible which gives Roscoe that much more sentimental value. He is not just valued by my found sense of responsibility, he Is also my best

Ap Human Geography Heather Furlong AP Human Geography Summer Assignment Quote: We were first introduced to rap music during one of our visits to Mobimbi, a quarter where the foreigners who worked for the same American company as my father lived (Beah 6). Explanation: The theme of region is shown in this quote as the author describes one of his many trips down to Mobimbi. Region describes the geographical unit based on characteristics and functions of culture. This quote also shows a very specific type of region called functional region, which is an area that has been organized to function politically, socially, or economically as one unit. The town of Mobimbi that the author speaks of is a place of social gathering for the people of his area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Boys learn at a young how to climb and provide for their families. This theme of nature culture is very prominent in this chapter, because without learning to climb they would have a lot less food to feed to their families. Quote: I began to feel my ribs when I touched my sides ... Later in the evening, the boy s mother gave each of us an ear of corn (Beah 30 31). Explanation: The theme nature culture is used in this quote as the author talks about how hungry he is, and also how a woman gave them corn she had grown. Nature culture helps us investigate how groups of people interact with the Earth s biophysical environment and examine how the culture, politics, and economies of those groups affect their ecological situation and resource use. The author and his friends are currently fleeing from the RUF. The RUF is an army made of young boys. While the boys are fleeing they have no food, but when they find a young boy who has food, they take his food and eat it themselves. But the mother of the child takes pity on the boys and gives them each their own ear of corn she has grown. This is an example of nature culture, because it shows how people are utilizing the Earth and its resources to survive in tough situations. Also the town that they wandered into has a farming culture; this is how the people of that town make money by selling their corn, and how they also live healthy lives from the nutritional value

Ineffective Measure Of Standardized Testing Standardized Testing: an Ineffective Measure of College Preparedness Every year, the daunting prospect of standardized testing brings anxiety to thousands of high school students. Their stress is for good reason: a student s performance on college admission exams most importantly, the ACT and SAT is a major determinant in deciding where they will go to college. For decades, such standardized tests have been near universally accepted as part of the admissions process: proponents argue, as Syverson explains, that such tests are the only way of standardizing assessment when high schools have such widely varying environments and grading criteria (2007). However, in the past decade a growing anti testing movement has begun to poke holes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has already been shown that standardized tests are fairly biased, across both race and socioeconomic status. Because such tests play a large role in most college admissions decisions, many students are kept from attending colleges solely because of their test scores. Shifting the focus away from test scores helps disadvantaged and minority students gain recognition, especially when their intelligence is in areas that aren t measured by standardized tests. As Geiser argues, standardized testscores correlate strongly with income level, whereas GPAs do not; thus, GPA is actually a more standardized approach toward measuring success, at least in the areas in which standardized tests are most heavily biased. Furthermore, both Hiss and the Tufts study found that students in the test optional or unconventional admissions approaches were more likely to be underrepresented minority students, proving that such college programs are providing opportunities to students who otherwise likely would not have been

  • 35. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Polyploidy Definition: Polyploidy is the heritable condition in which a normally diploid cell or organism acquires one or more additional sets of chromosomes. Polyploidy refers to a numerical change in a whole set of chromosomes. Organisms in which a particular chromosome, or chromosome segment, is under or overrepresented are said to be aneuploid. Therefore, the distinction between aneuploidy and polyploidy is that aneuploidy refers to a numerical change in part of the chromosome set, whereas polyploidy refers to a numerical change in the whole set of chromosomes. One example may be the widespread dispersal of the invasive allopolyploid Spartina angelica. However, it is not clear whether the success of this species can be attributed to fixed heterosis or to the increased variability that results from epigenetic remodeling. Polyploidy is also believed to play a role in the rapid adaptation of some allopolyploid arctic flora, probably because their genomes confer hybrid vigor and buffer against the effects of inbreeding. However, fertility barriers between species often need to be overcome in order to form successful allopolyploids, and these barriers may have an epigenetic

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Watt expresses moments of silence throughout the film to suggest the dept of emotion when a personal tragedy strikes us and how words are sometimes useless to those who are suffering from grief. The train driver sits at his kitchen table in silent grief, being watched by his wife. Sometimes people turn inward when they are grieving, while those around them quietly offer/give them support. For example when the train drivers son brings him a beer and they drink together in silence. This scene was shot from a distance; just as Nicks front page photo of Julia is a long distance shot too. The camera looks through windows and doorways at Julia as she tries to deal with the death of Rob. The family members carefully tread around her, never entering her personal space. When the silences during the film are broken this has more impact. At the end of the film, the only words we hear the train driver say are I m the train driver. I m sorry. And Julia replies: It wasn t your fault . Julia smiles for the first time in the film as the driver and his son leave, which adds to the positive mood at the end of the film, once again suggesting that positive interactions with others can help us to deal with our personal tragedies. • 37. Hillbilly Elegy Literary Analysis There is an element of human nature that compels us to watch when tragedy strikes, like when a car crashes on the side of the road or the news story of a natural disaster hits. It is terrible and sorrowful, but we still watch. It is when the factor of a child is involved that people stop just watching, but instead begin to act. In a similar fashion, when a horror story is told from the mouth of a child, the sheer wrongness and sense of loss is magnified by the guilness nature of children in relating stories. In this way, Vance utilizes a childhood persona in his memoir Hillbilly Elegy to convey aspects of his childhood that were traumatic or revolting without forcing image of a self pitying victim onto the reader. Using this childhood persona, which is wrapped in innocence and simplicity, the horrors and realities of his upbringing and hometown are put in sharp relief with the casual relaying of the information and... The childhood persona of Vance depicts this event with minimal description or added narrative, and instead the reader is allowed to reconstruct the event in their mind. This method is a success for two reasons; first, it is because the event is told with no fanfare or exaggeration, which makes the child persona much more believable and trustworthy in the eyes of the reader. Vance could have, in his adult persona, told of the traumatic horrors of burning someone alive or tried to fit in as many grisly details to try to force sympathy, but he
