Communism Vs Capitalism Essays
Composing an essay that delves into the nuanced and complex debate between communism and
capitalism requires a profound understanding of both economic systems, their historical contexts,
and the ideological underpinnings that have shaped their trajectories. This task demands a
meticulous examination of diverse perspectives, encompassing political, social, and economic
dimensions.
Navigating through the intricate web of contrasting theories, principles, and real-world
implementations necessitates a keen analytical mind and a comprehensive research effort. The
challenge lies not only in presenting a factual account of the fundamental tenets of communism
and capitalism but also in critically evaluating their respective strengths and weaknesses.
One must grapple with the vast array of literature, ranging from classical texts by Marx and
Engels to contemporary economic analyses, to form a well-rounded and insightful argument.
Balancing historical examples, theoretical frameworks, and empirical evidence further adds to the
difficulty, as it requires synthesizing information from diverse sources into a coherent narrative
that captures the essence of the debate.
Moreover, tackling the emotional and ideological aspects surrounding communism and capitalism
introduces another layer of complexity. Striking a balance between objectivity and empathy is
crucial when discussing systems that have profound implications for societies and individuals.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of communism versus capitalism demands
intellectual rigor, extensive research, and the ability to navigate through a multifaceted discourse.
It is not merely an exercise in comparing economic systems but a journey into understanding the
socio-political dynamics that have shaped our world. For those seeking assistance in navigating
this challenging terrain, various resources are available, including essay writing services like

Introduction On July 29th, 2014 the last surviving member of the United States
Army Air Corp (USAAC) aircrew that dropped the first atomic bomb used in
warfare died. Theodore Van Kirk, also known as Dutch , was the navigator of the
Enola Gay the day it dropped the bomb.1 In interviews throughout his life Van Kirk
expressed no regret regarding his part in the dropping of the atom bomb, saying it
helped to end World War II (WWII).2 The 69th anniversary of that historic mission,
Operation Centerboard 1, is on the 6th of August, 2014. This case study will give
an overview of Operation Centerboard 1 so the reader can gain a basic knowledge
of the mission and provide sources so the reader knows where to find more

Germany unconditionally surrendered on the 8th of May, 1945. With the
European front eliminated Truman turned his attention to Japan and what it
would take to get an unconditional surrender there.4 Both the Allied and Japanese
forces were planning for an Allied invasion of the island Empire. Truman later
wrote in his memoirs that General Marshal told him, that it might cost half a
million American lives to force the enemy s surrender on his home grounds. 5
Though this figure has been debated over the years there is no doubt, based on the
fierce fighting that had already occurred in the Pacific, that many lives would have
been lost taking Japan on the ground based. In the spring and summer of 1945 the
US was dropping about 20,000 tons of explosives per week on Japan.6 The
firebombing of Tokyo in March alone killed 83,000 people.7 The death toll from
these firebombing campaigns was so high that most people figured using the
newly tested atomic bomb would be a appropriate escalation of force to shock
Japan into surrender.8 After years of work the US had the first successful test of a
nuclear device on the 16th of July, 1945 in the New Mexico desert. 9 This test, at a
test site known as Trinity , took the US nuclear program from the research and
development phase into the operational phase. Later on the same day as the Trinity
test the U.S.S. Indianapolis left port in San Francisco headed for the island of
Taking a Look at Cystic Fibrosis
There are many diseases that greatly affect our respiratory physiology; one of those
diseases is cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis, according to the National Institute of
Health (2013), is an inherited disease of the secretory glands or exocrine glands. Not
only does this disease affect our respiratory system, it takes a toll on our digestive
system. The respiratory systemincludes the gas exchange from our external
atmosphere and our internal environment. This gas exchange of oxygen and carbon
dioxide through our atmosphere and lungs does play a roll with cystic fibrosis. Cystic
fibrosis is inherited, it affects many parts of the body mainly the respiratory system,
and there are many signs and symptoms to this overwhelming disease.
The respiratory system is the body s source for breathing. Without our respiratory
system, gas exchange would not be able to occur. Inhaling oxygen and exhaling
carbon dioxide.
In our respiratory system our upper airways and bronchi can be said to warming,
humidifying, and filtering inspired air. By warming the air inhaled it will not cause
damage to our internal environment which is body temperature, with warming the air
that is inhaled cold air will reach that body temperature, humidifying our body
through inhalation of oxygen, our epithelial cells remain moist and do not dry out
(Silverthorn, 2013), and finally the mucus that is in our pharynx come upon many
inhaled microorganisms and/or other pathogens. As Silverthorn (2013) states, mucus
The Spanish American War and Charles Denton Young
Imagine this, gunshots flying all around you, the smell of smoke, blood, sweat,
and tears as your friends or even brothers get shot at from every angle. These are
the conditions that the rough riders, buffalo soldiers, and american army had to
overcome at most times to end up victors of the Spanish American War. According
to an article by Patrick McSherry, approximately 55,000 60,000 men lost their lives
to disease, gunshots, or wounds in the war. The Spanish American War was not
necessarily the right thing to do, but in the end the war was worth it because of
the land, partnerships, and power America gained as country because of the
soldiers, leaders, and nations braveness. According to Arlington National
Cemetery, Colonel Charles Denton Young, a child of former slaves, grew up
craving military involvement after his father enlisted as a private in the 5th
Regiment of the Colored Artillery Volunteers. He got accepted into the U.S.
Military Academy at West Point after graduating from an all white high school
with honors at age 16. Graduating with honors at 16 was already a challenge in
itself, but Charles proved to overcome that challenge, also while being the only
african american in his class. After learning a lot from West Point, he graduated in
1864 as the 3rd african american to ever do so in history. Charles literally went the
extra mile by graduating from both high school and West Point in the top of his class

Sadie Rosello Research Paper
English Reflections: I would have to say that one of my closest friends right now
is Sadie Rosello. We ve come so far together as companions through life that there
is no way I could consider not having her at my side. We met about two and a half
years ago when I was in seventh grade and she was a freshman. We grew so close
over time by doing things together that we really enjoyed. It was kind of funny
actually, our little relationship. We would never really do anything. We would just
meet at the beach and literally do nothing but talk and share an occasional nap. She
is one of those people whose company alone is enough to satisfy. When I m with her
we don t even need to talk. I m 100% content just sitting in her company. Sadie is

Something unique to our relationship. Something that I believe is very rare in the
modern world. We have the same outlook on life. Meaning we both believe that
living free of judgement and doing what makes you as an individual happy is the
most fulfilling lifestyle. Have fun, enjoy yourself, enjoy the people around you.
There is no point in stress and we are always there to remind each other of that. We
love living and making the most of every moment. Some people call us childish,
but if we enjoy building blanket forts and waging soft fluffy wars in my living
room, then we are going to do it because we could care less what you say. We are
having fun and that s all that matters. I am very lucky to say that I love my
bestfriend and without her I m not sure what i would be.
She has taught me to truly enjoy my life and not waste it trying to impress people.
The only person I need to impress is me. Our friendship really has demonstrated, for
me, what it means to have fun. Having fun isn t about doing what everyone is
passing their time doing. For me, truly having fun is not having a plan and going on
an adventure. Having fun is goofing off with people you love. And I love her, and
she loves adventures and goofing around. So, in my mind, we work

A QBB file is created by Intuit s QuickBooks software when the backup feature is
utilized. These files are proprietary and cannot be read by any other software
package available to the average consumer.
If you use QuickBooks to store and manipulate your company s financial data, it will
become crucial that you take steps to protect this data. Given enough time, the most
reliable PC will have some sort of hardware malfunction. But what to do when the
company file becomes corrupted?
It is important to realize that using the same version of QuickBooks to restore the
file as it was backed up is recommended and that trying to restore a backup file
(QBB) using an older version of QuickBooks than the file was created in may not
work. Obviously, you will need a computer with an installed version of QuickBooks.

The Typology Of Three Components Of A Strategic Frame
Strategic Frame is a proprietary to communications practice and researches that pay
close attention to the publics deeply help worldview and widely help assumptions.
Strategic frame recognize that there is more than one way to tell a story. Strategic
frame taps into decades of research on how communicate and how people think. The
result is an empirically driven communications process that makes academic research
interesting, usable to help people solve social problems, and understandable. In 1970
s media framing has been receiving attention. This constructed employer s to

Framing of Attributes
Framing of attributes is described as a situation people find in their everyday life and
literature. There are three different framing of attributes: Semantic framing focus on
particular attributes that maybe derogatory or flattering and it may or may not have a
negative disadvantage or a positive advantage to message sponsors in persuasive
communications. Picture framing is used to describe ads that would accompany a

It Has Been Argued That Canadian Environmentalism
Occurred
It has been argued that Canadian environmentalism occurred in a series of waves
throughout the countries growth and development. Upon colonization the Canadian
landscape was abundant in resources, the opportunities limitless. Over the course of a
century industrialization had swept the nation. The rapid depletion of resources
initiated the development of numerous private organizations that sought to control,
maintain, and ensure longevity of such resources. This force would continue to
reshape along with the industrial demands and ever changing landscape. It is
imperative to provide context regarding the evolution of the environmental movement
that took place in Canada, in order to comprehend the role non governmental
organizations played... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gradually conservationist efforts of resource preservation developed, characterizing
North America s first wave of environmentalism.
Individuals involved within Canada s forestry industry developed many of the
earliest conservation efforts. The rapid depletion of Canadian forests forced many to
advocate for the development of controlled harvesting and reserved areas. By 1900,
the Canadian Forestry Association was established. Despite Canada s earliest efforts,
their neighbours to the south were generally further advanced with their efforts. Such
gap in national efforts can be viewed as a matter of population differences, industrial
expansion, and economic circumstances. The American settlements were much
further developed in many respects than their counterparts, and had demonstrated
anthropogenic harm throughout their growth. In 1909, American President Theodore
Roosevelt, invited both Mexico and Canada to join the United States at the North
American Conservation Conference. This conference would lead to the establishment
of Canada s Commission of Conservation.
Canada s Commission of Conservation developed recommendations and
environmental ethics that can be viewed as the seeds of modern environmentalism.
The development of national parks also illustrates the difference between American
and Canadian conservation. In 1885, Banff became Canada s first national park,
while their neighbours had established their first national park,
Mrs. Bertha Flowers
The short story, Mrs. Bertha Flowers is about a young girl named Marguerite. In the
story Marguerite lives with her grandmother also known as momma (Mrs. Henderson)
and her two brothers Bailey and Junior. Marguerites momma runs a store in the
community that they live in. Mrs. Flowers a frequent customer in the store is a well
known womanto many people in the community. Marguerite the main character in
the story looks up to and observes Mrs. Flowers, she is proud to say that Mrs.
Flowers lives in the same community as her. Marguerite is a very reserved young
girl who does not speak to others until Mrs. Flowers befriends her and encourages
her to talk again. The social cognitive theory can be applied to Mrs. Bertha s flowers,

Bertha Flowers is through social learning. When Marguerite gets home from
visiting Mrs. Bertha she uses the phrase, by the way. Her momma immediately
gets mad at her and tells her she is going to go get a switch. Marguerite has no idea
what she did to get a switch. We can assume that she learned the phrase from
interacting socially with someone who had used that phrase in front of her and
because the phrase was not used in a bad way she did not see any harm in using it.
To momma using the phrase was using Jesus or Gods name in vain. This is an
example of social learning because the phrase meant two different things to two
different people. Marguerite learned the phrase in a different way than momma
did and it ended up getting her into trouble. This is kind of similar to the bobo doll
theory. Marguerite used the phrase, because she had heard other people say it in a
non harmful way so she thought it was ok to use the phrase the way she did.
Momma was taught that the phrase was bad by someone she had learned it from so
she learned that the phrase should not be used. Since the phrase was bad to momma
and not to Marguerite she had repercussions from using it. Bailey, Marguerites
brother also knew what the phrase meant and tried to explain to momma that people
use the phrase to mean while we re on subject, but momma didn t care because she
learned it in a different context. This shows that because people learn things
differently in a social environment our behaviors might react different to certain
What Is The Setting Of A Cattle Creature By Fyodor...
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, born November 11, 1821, is a Russian novelist and also a
short story writer. Dostoyevsky is portrayed as one of the finest novelists who ever
lived in his time. He has written some of the greatest novels of all time such as Notes
from the Underground and The Idiot. In 1876, Dostoyevsky published a short story
called, A Gentle Creature, which is a story about the chronicles of the relationship
between a pawnbrokerand a girl that comes to his shop frequently. The pawnbroker
in A Gentle Creature, is the main plot and character of the story. The setting of the
story is inside of his pawn shop. The narrator of this story is a pawnbroker and the
dilemma is that there is dead girl. The pawnbroker begins by having a flashback to
be able to describe how everything got to the point of the girl s death.
In the beginning of the pawnbroker and his future wife s relationship, he was
attracted by her helpless situation. When she is attempting to pawn her worthless
items, he, the pawnbroker, is willing to give her two roubles but only because he
was admired by her. However, as I gave her two roubles, I couldn t help adding
with a hint of irritation: You know, I m only doing this because it s you (Pg. 62). In
A Gentle Creature, the relationship between the pawnbroker and his wife failed
because he misjudges his wife s character, he is completely unable to empathize with
her, and he uses her for revenge on his social stigma. The wife s character in the
Capitalism And Capitalism
In the first chapter of his book Capitalism and Freedom, Nobel Prize winning
economist Milton Friedman discusses several ideas such as the intimate and by no
means unilateral correlation between politics and economics, the inefficiency of
collectivism and central planning, and the essential role of economic freedom and
capitalismin achieving political freedom (8). What all these ideas have in common,
though, is that economic freedom precedes political freedom and, as a result, the
latter depends on the implementation and survival of a capitalist economy. In
addition, the author believes that in order to avoid concentration of power and
therefore guarantee freedom, there must be a separation between political and
economic power. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, a free market and thus capitalism are necessary media to satisfy one
s demands. But having purchasing power and this so called economic freedom does
not always translate into political freedom; instead, since according to Friedman,
economic and political freedom are directly proportional, one might also assume that
the more economic power an individual or an entity has, the more political freedom
they can exercise. In other words, not everyone has the same political freedom, since,
in a capitalist economy, freedom depends on economic power contrary to the rosy
picture Friedman presents.
Although Friedman recognizes that the existence of a free market does not eliminate
the need for government and that government is crucial to determine the rules of the
game, he believes in minimal government intervention in the market (15). In his
fierce defense of capitalism s autonomy, Friedman claims that there can be many
millionaires in one large economy, but only a small amount of political power to be
distributed (16). Therefore, if economic power is in the hands of the government,
concentration seems inevitable (16). But, as we now know, the government should
be responsible for more than determining the rules of the game ; the East Asian crisis,
which had a butterfly effect in all globalized economies around the world, and other
economic catastrophes, have taught us how essential it is to have an organized
government that oversees the market and the
Climate Change And Global Warming
In 1879, citizens were in shock in Menlo Park as Thomas Edison publicly
demonstrated his new invention, the incandescent light bulb, the first time. This
device was incredibly impactful and would eventually lead to electricity being
within the houses of millions of people across the globe. Industries began to mass
excavate large amounts of coal in order to produce electricity to light the homes of
these people. However, big business wasn t aware or concerned about possible
environmental damage that was occurring. Power plants sprung up across America
which would produce waste in the forms of different types of pollution that would
have quite an impact on the surroundings. As a result, individuals started to become
aware of the effects of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, environmental legislation and industrial freedom are both consisted
of positive and negative aspects that affect numerous people worldwide. So, is
environmental legislation actually more beneficial than industrial freedom? There
are many positive effects that can result from environmental legislation, including
the overall health of humans. The pollution emitted from numerous different
industries and sources not only hurts the environment, but directly affects the
people in the area. Several associations have been drawn between pollution and
increased risks of heart disease, kidney disease, and lung disease. A newspaper had
noted that, Data indicated that average systolic BP [blood pressure] rose 1.7 mm
Hg with an increase of 2.4 mcg/m¬3 in fine particulate matter exposure (95% CI,
0.7 mm Hg to 2.7 mm Hg), and diastolic increased 0.8 mm Hg (95% CI, 0.3 mm Hg
to 1.4 mm Hg) ( City Dwellers 36). So, this source indicates that in areas where there
is exposure to particulate matter (polluted areas, such as cities), there appears to be a
correlation with higher overall blood pressure. However, environmental legislation
would lead to regulations on mechanisms that are pushing pollution into the nearby
areas and therefore reduce the risk of health defects. Additionally, environmental
legislation can lead to the reduced risk of global warming, which has been a huge
topic in contemporary society. Many studies and research has reached conclusive
evidence
Why Do People Like To Show Their Dogs
here are many reasons why people like to show their dogs and it is a rewarding
practice for individuals and kennels alike. You might like to enter your dog for
obedience trials because he enjoys it and you are proud of him; you might like the
competition element of shows or it may be that you just like to be around fellow dog
owners, comparing your dogs. There are two main categories of shows: a)
Pedigree dog shows requiring you to demonstrate that your dog matches the breed
standards set by the kennel club in which your dog is registered and b) All dog
trial and events, irrespective of breed, registration or heritage where your dog will
be judged solely on his ability to perform the activity for which he is entered.

Countries such as the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia have kennel clubs which
organize events locally, nationally and internationally. Only pedigrees can be
registered in these clubs and participate in the shows. No crossbreeds are allowed.
Kennel clubs outside of the USA place various breeds in different categories but
none of them will recognize crossbreeds or dogs that do not have proper registration
papers.
Make sure that you know the standards set for your breed by the kennel club where
your dog is registered. Read as much as you can about their standards because if you
get it wrong, you may be disqualified from entering or participating in the show.
Visit as many shows and events as you can and observe the adjudicators or judges.
Note down anything the judges say about competitors at the time they have made
their selections of winners. If you know what the judges like you can take special
care to train your dog so that he will please the judges. Naturally judges are bound to
make their decision based on the standards that have been set by a kennel club, but
each judge will place their own interpretation on those

Garrison Keillor s The Prodigal Son vs. Luke s The Parable of the Prodigal Son
The classic story of the Prodigal Son is one of the best known parables in literature.
A parable is often times described as a short narrative which teaches a moral;
however, the plot is more realistic, than say a fable, and the characters are humans as
oppose to animals or natural forces within nature. Parables are also presented in a
more suggestive tone, which leaves them more open to interpretation. The play
Prodigal Son told by Garrison Keillor differs greatly in terms of style compared to
Lukes The Parable of the Prodigal Son told in the Catholic scriptures. Both of these
parables convey the same moral, however, both are open to very different ... Show

This style merely added to the parable itself. One could argue that since the
personalities in Keillors version were more developed, it left less room for ones
own interpretation. Because the personalities of the characters were more distinct,
it also alllwed for more focus on the actual plot and the building moral. Since the
moral is the true point to a parable, it would be pointless for an audience or reader
to be stuck on the their curiosity of the type of people the characters were
supposed to represent. More detail, merely aids in the strength of a parables
narrative qualities. A major difference that I noted when reading and comparing
the two parables was the usage of language. That writing style of the parables truly
affected my interpretation of the moral. Keillor took a much more modern
approach to the language that the characters conversed with. He also utilized more
symbolism in the language in order to pursue more of a comedy type piece. An
example of such is when Wally returnas home and his father is ecstatic about his
return, and begins to give him gifts and attention. The father then decides amongst
all his excitement that he wants to give Wally a ring, which he had already given to
the older son Dwight. Dwight responds with, cant give it to the son who has worked
his tail off for thirty years, oh no, gotta give it to the weasel who comes dragging his
butt through the door (Kennedy 1366). This language varies greatly from the

when we all think of this painting. Some people would even say that this truly is a
classic and timeless painting in the art world. Many people would agree. This is all

is really brilliant. It is a really well known painting that has really captivated so many
for centuries. This is a truly beautiful painting, especially to me.

How Does Jane Austen Present Relationships In Persuasion
Persuasion is the last novel written by Jane Austen, published in 1817. Like every
other piece of work she has created, Persuasion is a romance. While there are many
characters in this novel, the main love affair is between Anne Elliot and Captain
Wentworth. These two were once in love, but persuasion by a person dear to Anne,
lead her to end her courtship with Captain Wentworth. Once that fling came to a halt,
he tried to move on and courted himself with Louise Musgrove. Austen s novels
would be nothing without the courtships that she creates between her characters.
Courtships are what essentially make an Austen novelso spectacular. Anne Elliot is
one of three daughter to Sir Walter, and the late Lady Elliot. Although his wife passed
away,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Anne has come to terms with what happened, she does not regret so much
listening to Lady Russell. Anne explains to Captain Wentworth, I have been
thinking over the past, and trying to impartially to judge of the right and wrong, I
mean with regard to myself; and I must believe that I was right, much as I suffered
from it, that I was perfectly right in being guided by the friend whom you will love
better than you do now. To me, she was in the place of a parent. Do not mistake
me, however. I am not saying that she did not err in her advice. It was perhaps one
of those cases in which advice is good or bad only as the event decides; and for
myself, I certainly never should, in any circumstance of tolerable similarity, give
such advice (253). She brings up this idea that Lady Russell was playing the role of a
parent when she was giving Anne the advice to not go forward with her engagement
with Captain Wentworth. A parent of a high status would want nothing less than that
for their child. Especially for a daughter. Although Anne was able to look beyond the
superficial aspects to Captain Wentworth, the two people whose word means the
most, could

Kutcher Competency Paper
Christopher Ashton Kutcher, more commonly known as Ashton Kutcher, is an
American actor turned investor. Starting off on That 70s Show, Kutcher lunged into
his career where he soon later became a leader in the public eye. While still
maintaining his acting career, Kutcher is currently the Founder at A Grade
Investment all while making multiple investments in tech start up companies.
However, what makes Ashton Kutcher so miraculous is that while still maintaining
his career, he is also very active in the community in fighting for what he believes in.
To define what makes Ashton Kutcher a leader, we will look into three competencies
proven by his Twitter account (@aplusk): personal competency, communication
competency and organizational competency. A competency is the ability to do
something successfully or efficiently. Furthermore, the first competency to analyze is
the personal competency. Personal competency are the personal traits and abilities
that affect your results in the workplace. As described by Ruben (2006), personal
competency includes character, personal values, and ethics, cognitive ability and

Why The Atomic Bomb Was Unnecessary
On May 1945, a long awaited V E Day finally came and brought an end to the war in
Europe. But, the war in the Pacific was still continuing against Japan since they are
being reluctant to surrender despite the continuous indiscriminate bombardments The
United States began to consider about using the atomic bombs as the only way to end
the war immediately. On the other hand, many argued that Japan s staggering losses
were enough to force Japan s surrender. In the end, President Harry S. Truman didn t
hesitate to use this nuclear weaponand bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki with only
three days interval between the two bombing. As a result, Japan has surrendered, but
if I were to make a decision, I haven t used atomic bombs because it was unnecessary
since Japan has virtually lost already.
First of all, when the war in Europe ended on May, the Allied force have already
leapfrogged all the way to Iwo Jima. Then, the island of Okinawa also fell the next
month despite desperate resistance. Not only Japan has lost two of their vital military
strategic bases, but they lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without any help from Europe, they were in a situation, where they were even
unsure if they could see the next sunrise as in flag. Although the supporters of atomic
bomb claimed that it also protected the lives of Japanese, there was no proof at the
time that atomic bombs would cause them to surrender and result in fewer casualties.
The only necessity was to convince them to accept unconditional surrender. But, the
United States has hastened to the solution from the reasons that the war is
continuing for long, and perhaps for the retaliation of Pearl Harbor and starting the
war. The atomic bombs destroyed almost everything, while some remained like
Hiroshima Peace Memorial, best known today as Atomic Bomb Dome, which keeps
passing down the knowledge to never let similar tragedy to take place
The Sociology Of Education Is The Study Of How Public...
The sociology of education is the study of how public institutions and individual
experiences affect education and its outcomes on the students and staff members. It is
mostly concerned with the public schooling systems of modern industrial societies,
including the expansion of higher, further, adult, and continuing educationat all
institutional levels. Sociology is important because it looks at the structure of society
and how its components and institutions fit together. It helps us to understand how
institutions can help to socialise individuals in society and this therefore provides a
good insight into why we have different cultures. Since the taking a class on the

Analysis Of She Stoops To Conquer
She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith is a play written in 1771 that premiered
in London in 1773. Some theatrical conventions have remained the same, while
others have changed. Consequently, Stolen Shakespeare Guild performance of She
Stoops to Conquer strays from the original production.
One similarity in the plays is the use of female actors. This play first premiered in
London in 1773. During this time women actually played female roles unless it
was a role such as a witch or a comic old women. Women even got the chance to
play male roles especially if the character was a female pretending to be a male
(britches parts) , or if the character was a feminine male. Women being on stagewas
such a big deal that some productions would advertise having all the parts played by
women.
In the version, I saw of She stoops to Conquer women were playing the women
roles. As a matter of fact, the story revolved around the lives of two women Ms.
Hardcastle and Constance Neville and these actresses did a wonderful job
portraying these characters. Women playing these roles designed for women made
the play more effective because it added to it s believability. Women bring a certain
softness to stage that I don t think men can offer, and that softness that was brought
on stage by these actresses added a little more to the story. This is one convention
that I m glad we ve stuck with.
One difference in the two performances is the way in which the actor system worked.

Examples Of Religious Themes In The Hunchback Of Notre
Dame
In the modern era, most films are secular. They are not intended to present a
religious interpretation of life and we do not expect it from the film industry.
However, religion is a large part of the lives of most people, so it is realistic to
notice that religious references and ideas will be present in some films. William
Telford s religion and film model [1] makes it easier to depict if those underlying
religious themes are present. The movie most associated with religious themes
produced by Disney would have to be the Hunchback of Notre Dame . As stated by
Porter in the course notes [1], this film is a great fit for Telfords model. Claude
Frollo, is a deeply religious man who believes he is doing right by his religion by
taking in the seemingly unholy Quasimodo, after being judged by the Archdeacon.
He feels as though he is acting in a righteous manner when he adopts Quasimodo as
well as when he plans to commit genocide against all of the gypsies. As the plot
develops unlike Quasimodo, Frollo s belief in the church disappears, and this can
be seen in his determination to kill Esmeralda, believing if she is the source of his
lust and refuses to be with him romantically, she must die in a Hellfire . The
decisions of the main characters focused on right and wrong and good and evil
throughout the whole film, and how one will be judged solely by god, which is a
perfect parallel to this film and the very common Christian theme. Another film that
fits well with Telfords
Symbolism In The Yellow Wallpaper
The story of The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman depicts the
struggle of a woman who wants to be set free. Jane, the main character, is mentally
oppressed to the point of insanity in order to be set free. Her journal entries, the
tearing down of the wallpaper, and the window are all symbols of her will and
desire to break free from mental oppression. Sometimes simple tools such as pen
and paper can symbolize so many things. For Jane, it symbolizes one of her ways to
maintain sanity. There comes John, and I must put this away, he hates to have me
write a word. (4). Because her husband will not listen to her, Jane sneaks around to
make journal entries which is her only way of expressing her thoughts and emotions.

The Evolution Of Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes are the symbol of the ballerina and they have had a huge impact on the
history of dance. They are way more complex than what we tend to think and
throughout this essay we will go over their creation, how they re structured, and how
they impacted ballet.
In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new
emphasis on graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris
OpГ©ra Ballet in a performance of Les CaractГЁres de la Danse, dancing in
slippers instead of heeled shoes. She had also shortened her stage skirt to show off
the turnout of her legs and feet as well as her bas de jambe during entrechats. After
the French Revolution in 1789, emphasis was placed on the functional aspect ... Show

This resulted in a demand for more elaborate pointe shoes. A wide range of designs
were on the market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft
shoes to pointe shoes, to extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine
manufactured rehearsal pointes for dance students operating on a smaller budget.
About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed, Grishko, Bloch, Capezio,
and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth century, the
fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and
designer brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have
used the pointe shoe style to create ballerina fashion shoes.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet
technique, en demi pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and
jumps. While men were identified as playing a secondary role in the performance,
from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and contributed to a new dance
aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was reflected by Marie
Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide in
1832. Some early examples of pointe shoes from this period are exhibited in the

Calypso Music History
You ve probably heard the song, Under the sea from the Disney movie, The Little
Mermaid . Or, maybe you ve heard the song Day O , also known as the banana boat
song . Well, did you know that these songs are examples of Calypso music? In this
report, I will be explaining, where it came from, what it is, and facts and information.
Calypso musicoriginated in Venezuela, Trinidad, and Tobago during the start of the
20th century. It was traced back to West African Kaiso and the arrival of the
French planters and their slaves in the 1800s. People think that these songs were
introduced during the French settlement of the island of Trinidad. An African
slave named Gros Jean is thought to be the first Calypsonian, or someone who
makes Calypso music. Over the last century Calypso music has been becoming
well known by not only the Carribean, but around the world. 1914 was a huge year
for Calypso music, because this was when the first Calypso recording was made by
the Victor Gramophone Company of New York. So, now you no where it came

Calypso music is considered as party and dance music, but the main focus is really
the lyrics. Calypso music was used by slaves. The slaves would use the lyrics to
make their work go by faster. The lyrics are usually political in nature and also
feature some kind of social commentary. A classic calypso song called Rum and
Coca Cola , talks about the American Military bases in Trinidad in the 1940s. The
movie Rio features many Calypso songs. In the movie The Little Mermaid the
very popular song, Under the Sea , is also Calypso music. The song Day O is one

Militarized Policing
Military/Police: The Rise of Militarized Policing
Military/Police: The Rise of Militarized Policing
Introduction
The United States has long regarded with great suspicion efforts to use the military
as a tool of civilian law enforcement. In significant part, this attitude grew out of the
colonists experiences with the abuses of the British Army. These abuses included the
Boston Massacre of 1770, in which the British Army opened fire on colonists
protesting the use of the army to enforce civilian laws (Doherty, 2016). These
attitudes led to an effort during the early post Revolution period to separate military
and police powers (Doherty, 2016), as well as the Third Amendment with its specific
limitations on the military s authority over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This can provide benefits in the form of encouragement tacitly or explicitly
towards professionalism on the part of all police personnel, not just those
associated with the PPU. Although the term police professionalism has fallen into
some disfavor due to its association with a concept of the police as a cold and
distant force imposed against crime, the reality is that militarization does serve to
increase consistency of behavior across police forces as well as the imposition of
expectations of professional behavior (Hall Coyne, 2013). Additionally, PPUs may
serve an important morale boosting purpose for police forces, setting a high
standard for competence and ability and creating a goal to which line officers may
aspire (Breede, 2008). Finally, when it comes to civilian law enforcement, it is far
more desirable to layer a degree of military training, tactics, and equipment onto a
preexisting police mindset than to try to retrain a military mindset for civilian law
enforcement work (Breede,
Mayans, Incas, And Aztecs Essay
In 2012 everyone was convinced that the world was going to come to an end, there
is one civilization that we can put the blame on, the Mayans. There were many myths
and legends that come from the 3 major civilizations that we ve all learned about;
Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs. The Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs built great and legendary
civilizations in Mexico, Central America, and South America and with understanding
these three we get a better understanding of the early life in these places. The first of
these three is the Maya civilization.
Tracing back to the Mayans we go back approximately 3,000 years ago. They were
centered in the lowlands Yucatan Peninsula where they lived in farming villages that
is now what we call Guatemala. The Mayans set a high standard for pottery,
architecture, mathematics, artwork, hieroglyphics, calendar making, and more... One
of the most notable things they achieved were the many Mayan ruins, the Mayans
built enormous and elaborate stone temples, stela, and other stone structures within
their cities. It was unknown for some time how exactly they managed to quarry and
move these large stones due to the fact at the time it was not known what tools they
possessed or how they were transported because the Maya did not use the wheel.
Many of the large structures in ancient Maya cities in Central America were
constructed from limestone blocks. It was important to determine the process by
which the Maya built these structures, and the effort put forth, in

Revolutionary War Salutary Neglect Analysis
Every event leads to another. The moment the pilgrims departed from England and
landed at Plymouth, they set the stage for the following events in American history.
In the years to come, the colonists experienced a form of salutary neglect from the
motherland, Britain, and delighted in a new found freedom. Although Britain created
the rules and guidelines for America, they were poorly enforced. After all, America
was 3,000 miles away. America initiated a few revolutionary movements, including
Bacon s Rebellion; however, Britain quickly extinguished them. As an extension of
Britain, America was expected to fight alongside their troops; this plays a crucial role
in the French and Indian War (Seven Years War). Throughout 1754 1763, Americans

After all, wars are expensive. The amount of food and supplies needed for the
soldiers, along with their salary, costs millions, if not more. To regain money, Britain
began charging the colonists more; however, their reasoning extended past the war s
cost. The British leaders, like George Grenville and Charles Townshend, claimed that
the laws needed to be enforced because the colonists were British subjects and needed
to be protected and watched over. However, this mentality of imposing taxes
overstepped the line of control, especially after the extended period of salutary
neglect. The British started to tax the colonists in a way to show their dominance, not
their support or love. After all, who did the Americans need protection from? In the
Seven Years War, Americans proved their strength against the French by winning
battles without Britain s help, and the colonist had been dealing with the Indians
since the beginning. The only explanation is control. Similarly, during the Qin
dynasty in China, the emperor enforced heavy taxes to gain control over the
merchants and landowners; however, the plan eventually fell through. With the same
approach, Americans began to feel annoyed and uneasy with the
Pan s Labyrinth Essay
Pan s Labyrinth The director Guillero Del Torro uses many motifs and parallels in
his film Pan s Labyrinth. The most obvious parallel in the film is the parallel
between the real world and the fantasy world of the character Ofelia. Both worlds
are filled with danger. At any second in both of these worlds your life could be lost.
Del Torro separates the real world from the fantasyworld with many visual motifs.
One of the visual motifs is the extreme differences in the color of the worlds. In the
real world the director uses blues and green and other dark hues. The dark colors help
to represent the dark realities that are taking place out side in the real world. The
fantasy world is full of warmer colors such as red and gold.... Show more content on

The theme of the movie is making choices and being desobidiant and going against
what everyone says is right or normal. Ofelia makes many choices in the film. She
makes the choice to prove that she is worthy to return to the underworld. She
makes the choice to crawl in the frog hole and she made the choice to eat the
grapes in Pale Face s dinning room. The biggest choice that she makes though is
the choice she makes to deny the Faun and not give him her baby brother. This
choice turns out to be her most important choice that she will make. A example of
disobedience is Mercedes. Mercedes was disobedient to the Captain. Her
disobedience put her at great risk. She had to take chances. The chances she took
ended up paying off in the end when the rebels finally ended up taking out the
Captain and his army. From the film one can learn the importance of taking
chances and making choices. The film also teaches us about disobedience. Are
desobidance puts us at risk, but is important to do what we feel is right. The film
also teaches the harsh reality s of war and how it can cause men to do terrible

leaders) and the middle class/lower class workers. The Capitalists had intervened with
the protests orchestrated by the workers, ensuring that the power remains with them.
The strategies of the industrialists and the unique ways of protesting from the
workers, contributes to spur a vigorous argument between the employers and their
employees. The workers tried their best to ameliorate their working conditions by
forming numerous unions, trying to fix currency (gold to paper) to economically
help themselves, refusing to go to work, resorting to violence and non violence, etc.
However, the Corporate leaders kept an upper hand and dissolved the workers
ambitions by hiring scabs, creating a strong relationship with the military (Pullman
strike), controlling and fixing policies at work, hiring immigrants for cheap labor, etc.
Throughout the late 1800s, the corporate leaders have been able to successfully
prevent workers who had resorted to: forming unions, protests (ex. Pullman strike and
Homestead strike), violence (ex. Haymarket Sq. Riot), etc., from achieving a radical
solution to the workers issues with the management by using several different
strategies including but not limited to: hiring scabs/immigrants in the Homestead
strike, using government support in the Pullman strike and keeping the power on
their side
Essay about Nature’s Influence on the War of 1812
Nature s Influence on the War of 1812
Mother Nature played a part in every event in history, including the War of 1812.
The War of 1812 was a conflict between the United States of America and Great
Britain that had been building for many years. By the end of the war however there
was no clear victor and the issues that caused the conflict were never resolved.
Nature played a crucial role in the outcome. Because of humanity s natural strive for
power, the living and fighting conditions of the soldiers, and the geographical layout
of the countries involved, nature was a driving force during the War of 1812.
Hunger and greed are a part of human nature as much, if not more than, any other
emotion. The struggle for power and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This alliance increased the tension between the British and the Americans.
The Americans had been trying to convert the Indians to farmers so they could take
over their hunting land, and the American public was concerned that if the British
supplied the Indians with weapons it would incite dangerous riots and revolts. To
make matters worse for the American the Indians were being led by Chief Tecumseh
who wished to unite all of the Indians into essentially one tribe to assist in their fight
for land. This would have most likely been successful had his brother known as The
Prophet led the Indians into battle against William Henry Harrison s army at the
Battle of Tippecanoe which led to the massacre of Indians Tecumseh had been away
negotiating at the time and returned to find his work completely undone, so he joined
what little forces he had left with the British. Tecumseh was killed at the Battle of
Moraviantown on the Thames River.1
Not only were the Indians involved in the battle between the British and Americans.
Also during this time period it seemed that the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte
could not keep his influence out of any international business. In 1806 Napoleon
forced the neutral trading ships going through Europe, mainly the American ones, to
choose between Britain and France. The American ships did not appreciate this and
responded with a blockade leading to the

The Word Assimilation
The word assimilation has many different meanings. Its interpretations range from the
digesting of nutrients to the transfer of similar sounds. However, when sifting
through the various definitions of assimilation, there is one concept that always
seems to stand out. No matter what the source is or how it s worded, there is almost
always a reference to cultural groups. Whether it s the acceptance of a group or the
alteration of it, the customs of contrasting cultures continuously come up. One such
definition, according to the AudioEnglish.org dictionary, based on WordNet 2.1 and
supported by Princeton University, states assimilation is the social process of
absorbing one cultural group into harmony with another. Kristyn Hammond, a college
composition professor in the Texas A M school system, describes in her eHow article
Types of Assimilation, published on September 06, 2014, that as cultures mix and
evolve, there is a transition of cultural traits, language acquisition and cultural
identities from each group to the other. AudioEnlgish.org also relates terms such as
Americanization and Westernization to assimilation, but unfortunately, these
processes aren t always as harmonious as the definition suggests. Hammond states
later in her article that, While assimilation can be a brutal and violent condition of
forced integration, it can also be a peaceful combination of cultures. Unfortunately, in
the American experience, there are more examples of oppressive enterprises
Advantages And Components Of Avago
C.Features Advantages
Some of the key features of these components are ultra small size, low insertion loss
and high rejection. These components also ensure reliability in high power and
temperature conditions. Advantages of these components are listed below:
1.The used of copper bumps dissipates heat better than traditional interconnects. This
ensures less thermal radiations from the device.
2.The wafer level packaging ensures mechanical protection for the filters enhancing
interference reducing.
3.The dual output power mode enhances the talk time even in portable conditions.
4.Use of FBAR filters (Low Insertion Loss) ensures long battery life and fewer
dropped calls.

This figure is due to the inefficiency of power amplifiers. It also affects the
performance of the device too. These chips in the smartphone wastes 65 percent of
their energy due to their inefficiency [11]. Now a startup which is spinout from MIT,
ETA devices say that they have found the design for high efficiency. If the design
works out properly then it would slash half of the power consumption on its
implemented base stations.
Generally the power amplifier operated in 2 modes standby and output modes. To
increase the efficiency lowest standby mode must be used. But the sudden jump from
standby to output mode might distort the signals. So the technologies stay at high
standby level wasting a lot of electricity. This company now proposes an idea of
using a fast electronic gearbox which can choose among different voltages that can be
sent to the transistor and they claim it is capable of doing 20 million times per
second. This technology is called as Asymmetric Multilevel out phasing
Racketeer Influence And Corrupt Organization (RICO)
The Bureau uses the Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act to
expand criminal accountability for a number of predicate offenses, and to expand a
single offense across multiple members of a criminal enterprise. Unlike typical
investigations, which target a single criminal act, this multi pronged approach allows
the FBI to disrupt or dismantle the entire enterprise. The project was called Central
Research Monographs and produced extensive analyses of Communist Party
ideological statements designed to track the party s changing policies and better
inform agents working to recruit party members. Studies of groups like the Ku Klux
Klan, the LCN, the Black Panthers and others were similarly aimed at ensuring up to

The framework for this analysis is straightforward. The FBI must define the
information security environment it wants to create by identifying information
policies, specific threats, and secure usage assumptions. The Bureau must assess
threats that existing security countermeasures do not counter and information
security policies that are not being enforced. The FBI can then select programs, tools,
and technologies to sustain its security environment (Fox,

10 Tips for HTML Video and Audio
The technology wave is taking the world to another advanced level. Nowadays, if
you are not keen enough, you will be left behind in several aspects unknowingly.
People are using videos and high quality audios to create massive traffic online
every day. They generate more than 50% of online traffic. HTML videos and
audios are essential for marketers. People who use them reach their customers in the
world in a more modern and advanced manner. You can use smartphone, tablets or

Although higher settings may affect the upload speed, they are worth to go for
because they always offer better quality.
3. Plan out the video and audio size
You should note that internet users do not like watching and listening to extremely
long videos and audios. You can use prototyping software. It will help you to plan
out your video and audio sizes efficiently to meet your clients needs. You can also
output the sizes of videos and audios accordingly using Adobe Edge Reflow.
4. Include the width and also the height attributes in your code
The attributes in your code should match with the size of your audios and videos.
You should note that, if the width and the height are not compatible with the size of
the video, it will be scaled. The video may appear ragged if the scaling is larger than
its quality. On the other hand, if the height and width are smaller, the quality of the
video may not suffer, but you may encounter challenges when uploading it online.
5. You should use the scripts and elements that are compatible with your site
Before launching video scripts or HTML audios on your site, you should validate
your code. Additionally, your elements should be necessary on your site. You should
remember that your audience wants to hear relevant things or videos on your site. If
you focus on marketing, you should post essential and unbiased scripts frequently.
6. Utilize multiple video and audio uploading services

San Paolo Fuori Le Mura
Ackland Study Gallery: Interior View of San Paolo Fuori Le Mura The Interior
View of San Paolo Fuori Le Mura, completed by Giovanni Battista Piranesi in 1749,
conveys a sense of grandiosity about the structure, emphasizes the core religious
components of the basilica s style, and creates a perception of the sacred temple s
function as socially valuable. The etching depicts the inside space of the Basilica of
Saint Paul Outside the Walls, located in Rome, at an elevated point of view from the
narthex of the structure facing the apse located at the end of the nave. After the
execution of Paul the Apostle in the first century CE, his followers constructed a
small shrine over his grave. This shrine was shortly replaced by a church in the fourth

The detail effectively illustrates and emphasizes the storytelling components of the
decoration, the sculpture, and the ornateness of the interior space, something not
possible for a less detail oriented medium. The detail of the architecture shows the
superiority of the building compared to other structures in Rome, and the value
placed on honoring Saint Paul. The storytelling artwork and portraiture which leads
to the grand portrait of Jesus Christ is also a component of the interior space which
the medium allowed to shine through, further informing the viewer on the purpose
of the structure. The detail in the artwork expresses its importance in the church s
service to a society of extremely low literacy rates to teach religious stories and
values. The selection of etching as a medium is essential to conveying these aspects
of the architecture s role and how the viewer perceives the function of the

To blame someone is to assign responsibility for a fault or wrong doing. This can
also be called Psychological projection. Psychological projection is a theory in
psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious
impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in
themselves while attributing them to others. There are few reasons that people blame
others. Projection is one of them. When people feel bad they want to relieve this
feeling. This leads to people pushing this feeling onto others. Blame is also
commonly used as a defensive mechanism. When someone feels attacked they might
blame something or someone else to defend themselves. If someone is not at fault,

She goes on to say that she ll lock herself away and love her husband with all she

Also in Act 2 Scene 1, the bride comes off as bitter and is unkind toward the servant
who is trying to prepare her for her upcoming wedding. The maid tries to hype up the
beauty of marriage. And the best is when you wake...and his breath brushes your

responsibility for how her thoughts and feelings affect others. The bride also seems
to blame society s view on marriage during that time. During the 19th century parents
usually arranged the weddings for their children. Marriage was also a way to ensure
financial stability for some.
I think that the bride finally starts to take on some of the blame in (To the

Comedy In Mean Girls
Do you find girl drama entertaining? In the 2004 film, Mean Girls, that is exactly
what one can expect. High school cliques like the popular crowd against all the other
cliques is guaranteed to always bring drama. This film, directed by Mark Waters,
includes all the crazy things that teenagers think they need to do to be popular
including, drunken teen parties, pranking high schoolteachers, and stealing
boyfriends to look popular. This movie will only appeal to a certain audience. It is
a typical girl movie with drama men may not care for. Unexpectedly many males
could also find Mean Girls hilarious. There is comedy in every scene that appeals to
many. While many people tear down the filmbecause it s inappropriate, I feel that it...

The script is smart and creative, which many teens can relate to. It keeps the comic
side of the movie, while hitting some major real emotional memories some
teenagers go through. This film has said to be stereotyped, but as I see in Mean
Girls, most likely everyone would fit into a category seen in the film. The film
focuses on the small funny touches, which the audience will not forget. An
example is the one of the Plastic s mother who thinks she is one of the Plastics.
Waters even adds funny little details to the background of the characters, like
Lohan s character being from Africa. The film s script is aimed towards teenagers
and people over there teenage years. There are many scenes with pranking and
teenage humor that many people will find comical. The dialogue is sharp and too
the point while being adding humor to every scene. Mark Waters has been known
for making harmless comedies. I believe, while there may be a bad scene or two,
that the overall message is the truth and amusing. Waters also keeps it short and
moving at a fast pace. He keeps all viewers interested because it is not dragged out
and there is something to laugh about in every
Jackie Robinson s Reactions To Walker In Baseball
When asked who broke the color line in baseball, most people would think of
Jackie Robinson. An advocate for civil rights as well as an outstanding baseball
player, he became a significant figure in American history, and is widely
recognized as the first black baseball player in the Major Leagues. However, a
lesser known player named Moses Fleetwood Walker was a player in the Major
Leagues six decades before Robinson. Although faced with similar trials in each of
their integration into the white dominated sport, their attitudes were far from similar.
Walker wasn t quite as likable as Robinson and was not as exceptional in his playing.

Beginning with childhood games with his neighbors, he excelled at all sports he
attempted. He played four sports during his time in middle and high school,
becoming the region s most valuable player in baseball in 1938. He attended the
University of California Los Angeles, winning varsity letters in four sports. He had
to leave UCLA just before graduation due to financial issues. He began playing
football for the Honolulu Bears, but this was also cut short when the United States
entered World War I. He served in the army for two years, from 1942 1944, as a
secondhand lieutenant. Robinson was arrested in 1945 for refusing to give up his
seat on a public bus, but later he was acquitted. After his time in the army, he began
playing baseball professionally in an all African American league for the Kansas City
Monarchs (Dorinson). Branch Rickey, president of the Brooklyn Dodgers, chose
Robinson to begin to integrate Major League Baseball. This became known as
Rickey s Noble Experiment (Robinson). He saw good character in Robinson, and
knew he could get positive press and support from the African American community.
Robinson started by playing for the Montreal Royals in 1946, and Rickey prepared
Robinson for the trials he would soon face. Similar to Walker, reactions to him
weren t always positive. Some of his own teammates didn t want him to play, and
crowds disliked him. Despite the negativity thrown in his
My Main Expectation Coming Into $ 115, Law And Justice
My main expectation coming into WRA 115 Law and Justice in the United States
was that I would learn to read and write law related papers. Although my
expectations couldn t have been farther from the truth, it ended up being a good
thing. I expected that significant time would be spent reading law related documents
and learning to read legalease . Although this would be relevant to me, it would be a
little early to start learning law related material. For me, when writing, its important
that I m writing about something that I either enjoy or something I m interested in.
My main goal was that I d be able to creatively express myself through telling
interesting stories. This class accomplished that with the freedom that was allotted
to me when it came to choosing what I wanted to write about. In other classes I ve
just been given very specific prompts that don t allow a lot of creativity. Although a
majority of the papers I have written this semester were research oriented, through
this class I was able to write papers relevant to myself. The first paper, the learning
memoir, allowed me to reflect back onto a fond memory that I thoroughly enjoyed
expanding on and that has had a significant impact on my life. This paper was
probably my favorite to write, but it also went very wrong when I incorrectly
submitted the memo. I automatically lost a lot of points on a paper that would have
otherwise done well. I also didn t maintain the papers main focus throughout, and my
Swing Kid Research Paper
The Journey from a Swing Kid to a HJ Thomas, Peter, and Arvid were teenage boys
growing up in Nazi Germany in 1939. They were considered swing kids. Swing
Kids were the rebels of the German youth in 1930s who refused to join the Hitler
Youth ( Swing Kids ). They liked American Swing music, had long hair and
opposed the Nazis. Swing Kids would sneak off to clubs in the night to dance to
swing music, which was banned by the National Socialist Party because it was not
German as particularly because it was made by African Americans or Jews. As the
number of small individual choices that cause a change in behavior are made
increase, they slowly add up to cause a larger change in a person behavior. That
could be due to the notion that the collective change of all the parts combine to make
a new whole. Thomas, Peter and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wanted such as the other HJ members not targeting them for being different. That
was Thomas first step in a new direction towards changing his perspective of the HJ
and Nazism. The next step Thomas took towards his different perspective came
from his success in the HJ training camps seen in the movie. Thomas excelled at all
activities with the support of Emil and Peter. That is displayed in the scenes where
he is getting congratulatory hugs or high fives from Emil, Peter and the others. The
boys were also given medals for their achievements (Manulis Gordon, 1993). It is
clear that Thomas is beginning to enjoy the success and attention he received while
in the training camp. He began to be more comfortable, therefore it seemed as less of
a threat to him. In chapter seventeen of the reading it is stated that warm personal

They performed many demonstrations and had a spy network throughout the British
army. They organized many protests and influenced many communities
(Massachusetts Historical Society). They demonstrated in Boston and New York
City. The group was very defiant (Bomboy). Massachusetts One of the many
demonstrations the Sons of Liberty held was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea
Party was a turning point. The Boston Tea Party included three ships with three
hundred and forty two chests of tea each. Sixty men helped commit the
demonstration. To pull it off, the men dressed in Indian outfits and took over the
ships. Then, with the ships under their control, they dumped the chests of tea

Communism Vs Capitalism Essays.pdfCommunism Vs Capitalism Essays

  • 1. Communism Vs Capitalism Essays Composing an essay that delves into the nuanced and complex debate between communism and capitalism requires a profound understanding of both economic systems, their historical contexts, and the ideological underpinnings that have shaped their trajectories. This task demands a meticulous examination of diverse perspectives, encompassing political, social, and economic dimensions. Navigating through the intricate web of contrasting theories, principles, and real-world implementations necessitates a keen analytical mind and a comprehensive research effort. The challenge lies not only in presenting a factual account of the fundamental tenets of communism and capitalism but also in critically evaluating their respective strengths and weaknesses. One must grapple with the vast array of literature, ranging from classical texts by Marx and Engels to contemporary economic analyses, to form a well-rounded and insightful argument. Balancing historical examples, theoretical frameworks, and empirical evidence further adds to the difficulty, as it requires synthesizing information from diverse sources into a coherent narrative that captures the essence of the debate. Moreover, tackling the emotional and ideological aspects surrounding communism and capitalism introduces another layer of complexity. Striking a balance between objectivity and empathy is crucial when discussing systems that have profound implications for societies and individuals. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of communism versus capitalism demands intellectual rigor, extensive research, and the ability to navigate through a multifaceted discourse. It is not merely an exercise in comparing economic systems but a journey into understanding the socio-political dynamics that have shaped our world. For those seeking assistance in navigating this challenging terrain, various resources are available, including essay writing services like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and more can be ordered to aid in the exploration of complex topics. Introduction On July 29th, 2014 the last surviving member of the United States Army Air Corp (USAAC) aircrew that dropped the first atomic bomb used in warfare died. Theodore Van Kirk, also known as Dutch , was the navigator of the Enola Gay the day it dropped the bomb.1 In interviews throughout his life Van Kirk expressed no regret regarding his part in the dropping of the atom bomb, saying it helped to end World War II (WWII).2 The 69th anniversary of that historic mission, Operation Centerboard 1, is on the 6th of August, 2014. This case study will give an overview of Operation Centerboard 1 so the reader can gain a basic knowledge of the mission and provide sources so the reader knows where to find more information. With the European front eliminated Truman turned his attention to Japan and what it would take to get an unconditional surrender there.4 Both the Allied and Japanese forces were planning for an Allied invasion of the island Empire. Truman later wrote in his memoirs that General Marshal told him, that it might cost half a million American lives to force the enemy s surrender on his home grounds. 5 Though this figure has been debated over the years there is no doubt, based on the fierce fighting that had already occurred in the Pacific, that many lives would have been lost taking Japan on the ground based. In the spring and summer of 1945 the US was dropping about 20,000 tons of explosives per week on Japan.6 The firebombing of Tokyo in March alone killed 83,000 people.7 The death toll from these firebombing campaigns was so high that most people figured using the newly tested atomic bomb would be a appropriate escalation of force to shock Japan into surrender.8 After years of work the US had the first successful test of a nuclear device on the 16th of July, 1945 in the New Mexico desert. 9 This test, at a test site known as Trinity , took the US nuclear program from the research and development phase into the operational phase. Later on the same day as the Trinity test the U.S.S. Indianapolis left port in San Francisco headed for the island of
  • 3. Taking a Look at Cystic Fibrosis There are many diseases that greatly affect our respiratory physiology; one of those diseases is cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis, according to the National Institute of Health (2013), is an inherited disease of the secretory glands or exocrine glands. Not only does this disease affect our respiratory system, it takes a toll on our digestive system. The respiratory systemincludes the gas exchange from our external atmosphere and our internal environment. This gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide through our atmosphere and lungs does play a roll with cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is inherited, it affects many parts of the body mainly the respiratory system, and there are many signs and symptoms to this overwhelming disease. The respiratory system is the body s source for breathing. Without our respiratory system, gas exchange would not be able to occur. Inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide. In our respiratory system our upper airways and bronchi can be said to warming, humidifying, and filtering inspired air. By warming the air inhaled it will not cause damage to our internal environment which is body temperature, with warming the air that is inhaled cold air will reach that body temperature, humidifying our body through inhalation of oxygen, our epithelial cells remain moist and do not dry out (Silverthorn, 2013), and finally the mucus that is in our pharynx come upon many inhaled microorganisms and/or other pathogens. • 4. The Spanish American War and Charles Denton Young Imagine this, gunshots flying all around you, the smell of smoke, blood, sweat, and tears as your friends or even brothers get shot at from every angle. These are the conditions that the rough riders, buffalo soldiers, and american army had to overcome at most times to end up victors of the Spanish American War. According to an article by Patrick McSherry, approximately 55,000 60,000 men lost their lives to disease, gunshots, or wounds in the war. The Spanish American War was not necessarily the right thing to do, but in the end the war was worth it because of the land, partnerships, and power America gained as country because of the soldiers, leaders, and nations braveness. According to Arlington National Cemetery, Colonel Charles Denton Young, a child of former slaves, grew up craving military involvement after his father enlisted as a private in the 5th Regiment of the Colored Artillery Volunteers. He got accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point after graduating from an all white high school with honors at age 16. Graduating with honors at 16 was already a challenge in itself, but Charles proved to overcome that challenge, also while being the only african american in his class. After learning a lot from West Point, he graduated in 1864 as the 3rd african american to ever do so in history. Charles literally went the extra mile by graduating from both high school and West Point in the top of his class when some people treated him like he wouldn t be

We ve come so far together as companions through life that there is no way I could consider not having her at my side. We met about two and a half years ago when I was in seventh grade and she was a freshman. We grew so close over time by doing things together that we really enjoyed. It was kind of funny actually, our little relationship. We would never really do anything. We would just meet at the beach and literally do nothing but talk and share an occasional nap. She is one of those people whose company alone is enough to satisfy. When I m with her we don t even need to talk. I m 100% content just sitting in her company. Sadie is definitely... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Something unique to our relationship. Something that I believe is very rare in the modern world. We have the same outlook on life. Meaning we both believe that living free of judgement and doing what makes you as an individual happy is the most fulfilling lifestyle. Have fun, enjoy yourself, enjoy the people around you. There is no point in stress and we are always there to remind each other of that. We love living and making the most of every moment. Some people call us childish, but if we enjoy building blanket forts and waging soft fluffy wars in my living room, then we are going to do it because we could care less what you say. We are having fun and that s all that matters. I am very lucky to say that I love my bestfriend and without her I m not sure what i would be. She has taught me to truly enjoy my life and not waste it trying to impress people. The only person I need to impress is me. Our friendship really has demonstrated, for me, what it means to have fun. Having fun isn t about doing what everyone is passing their time doing. For me, truly having fun is not having a plan and going on an adventure. Having fun is goofing off with people you love. And I love her, and she loves adventures and goofing around. So, in my mind, we work

  • 8. It Has Been Argued That Canadian Environmentalism Occurred It has been argued that Canadian environmentalism occurred in a series of waves throughout the countries growth and development. Upon colonization the Canadian landscape was abundant in resources, the opportunities limitless. Over the course of a century industrialization had swept the nation. The rapid depletion of resources initiated the development of numerous private organizations that sought to control, maintain, and ensure longevity of such resources. This force would continue to reshape along with the industrial demands and ever changing landscape. It is imperative to provide context regarding the evolution of the environmental movement that took place in Canada, in order to comprehend the role non governmental organizations played... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gradually conservationist efforts of resource preservation developed, characterizing North America s first wave of environmentalism. Individuals involved within Canada s forestry industry developed many of the earliest conservation efforts. The rapid depletion of Canadian forests forced many to advocate for the development of controlled harvesting and reserved areas. By 1900, the Canadian Forestry Association was established. Despite Canada s earliest efforts, their neighbours to the south were generally further advanced with their efforts. Such gap in national efforts can be viewed as a matter of population differences, industrial expansion, and economic circumstances. The American settlements were much further developed in many respects than their counterparts, and had demonstrated anthropogenic harm throughout their growth. In 1909, American President Theodore Roosevelt, invited both Mexico and Canada to join the United States at the North American Conservation Conference. This conference would lead to the establishment of Canada s Commission of Conservation. Canada s Commission of Conservation developed recommendations and environmental ethics that can be viewed as the seeds of modern environmentalism. The development of national parks also illustrates the difference between American and Canadian conservation. In 1885, Banff became Canada s first national park, while their neighbours had established their first national park,

When Marguerite gets home from visiting Mrs. Bertha she uses the phrase, by the way. Her momma immediately gets mad at her and tells her she is going to go get a switch. Marguerite has no idea what she did to get a switch. We can assume that she learned the phrase from interacting socially with someone who had used that phrase in front of her and because the phrase was not used in a bad way she did not see any harm in using it. To momma using the phrase was using Jesus or Gods name in vain. This is an example of social learning because the phrase meant two different things to two different people. Marguerite learned the phrase in a different way than momma did and it ended up getting her into trouble. This is kind of similar to the bobo doll theory. Marguerite used the phrase, because she had heard other people say it in a non harmful way so she thought it was ok to use the phrase the way she did. Momma was taught that the phrase was bad by someone she had learned it from so she learned that the phrase should not be used. Since the phrase was bad to momma and not to Marguerite she had repercussions from using it. Bailey, Marguerites brother also knew what the phrase meant and tried to explain to momma that people use the phrase to mean while we re on subject, but momma didn t care because she learned it in a different context. This shows that because people learn things differently in a social environment our behaviors might react different to certain
  • 10. What Is The Setting Of A Cattle Creature By Fyodor... Fyodor Dostoyevsky, born November 11, 1821, is a Russian novelist and also a short story writer. Dostoyevsky is portrayed as one of the finest novelists who ever lived in his time. He has written some of the greatest novels of all time such as Notes from the Underground and The Idiot. In 1876, Dostoyevsky published a short story called, A Gentle Creature, which is a story about the chronicles of the relationship between a pawnbrokerand a girl that comes to his shop frequently. The pawnbroker in A Gentle Creature, is the main plot and character of the story. The setting of the story is inside of his pawn shop. The narrator of this story is a pawnbroker and the dilemma is that there is dead girl. The pawnbroker begins by having a flashback to be able to describe how everything got to the point of the girl s death. In the beginning of the pawnbroker and his future wife s relationship, he was attracted by her helpless situation. When she is attempting to pawn her worthless items, he, the pawnbroker, is willing to give her two roubles but only because he was admired by her. However, as I gave her two roubles, I couldn t help adding with a hint of irritation: You know, I m only doing this because it s you (Pg. 62). In A Gentle Creature, the relationship between the pawnbroker and his wife failed because he misjudges his wife s character, he is completely unable to empathize with her, and he uses her for revenge on his social stigma. The wife s character in the
  • 11. Capitalism And Capitalism In the first chapter of his book Capitalism and Freedom, Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman discusses several ideas such as the intimate and by no means unilateral correlation between politics and economics, the inefficiency of collectivism and central planning, and the essential role of economic freedom and capitalismin achieving political freedom (8). What all these ideas have in common, though, is that economic freedom precedes political freedom and, as a result, the latter depends on the implementation and survival of a capitalist economy. In addition, the author believes that in order to avoid concentration of power and therefore guarantee freedom, there must be a separation between political and economic power. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, a free market and thus capitalism are necessary media to satisfy one s demands. But having purchasing power and this so called economic freedom does not always translate into political freedom; instead, since according to Friedman, economic and political freedom are directly proportional, one might also assume that the more economic power an individual or an entity has, the more political freedom they can exercise. In other words, not everyone has the same political freedom, since, in a capitalist economy, freedom depends on economic power contrary to the rosy picture Friedman presents. Although Friedman recognizes that the existence of a free market does not eliminate the need for government and that government is crucial to determine the rules of the game, he believes in minimal government intervention in the market (15). In his fierce defense of capitalism s autonomy, Friedman claims that there can be many millionaires in one large economy, but only a small amount of political power to be distributed (16). Therefore, if economic power is in the hands of the government, concentration seems inevitable (16). But, as we now know, the government should be responsible for more than determining the rules of the game ; the East Asian crisis, which had a butterfly effect in all globalized economies around the world, and other economic catastrophes, have taught us how essential it is to have an organized government that oversees the market and the

This device was incredibly impactful and would eventually lead to electricity being within the houses of millions of people across the globe. Industries began to mass excavate large amounts of coal in order to produce electricity to light the homes of these people. Consequently, environmental legislation and industrial freedom are both consisted of positive and negative aspects that affect numerous people worldwide. So, is environmental legislation actually more beneficial than industrial freedom? There are many positive effects that can result from environmental legislation, including the overall health of humans. The pollution emitted from numerous different industries and sources not only hurts the environment, but directly affects the people in the area. Several associations have been drawn between pollution and increased risks of heart disease, kidney disease, and lung disease. A newspaper had noted that, Data indicated that average systolic BP [blood pressure] rose 1.7 mm Hg with an increase of 2.4 mcg/m¬3 in fine particulate matter exposure (95% CI, 0.7 mm Hg to 2.7 mm Hg), and diastolic increased 0.8 mm Hg (95% CI, 0.3 mm Hg to 1.4 mm Hg) ( City Dwellers 36). So, this source indicates that in areas where there is exposure to particulate matter (polluted areas, such as cities), there appears to be a correlation with higher overall blood pressure. However, environmental legislation would lead to regulations on mechanisms that are pushing pollution into the nearby areas and therefore reduce the risk of health defects. Additionally, environmental legislation can lead to the reduced risk of global warming, which has been a huge topic in contemporary society. Many studies and research has reached conclusive evidence

Garrison Keillor s The Prodigal Son vs. Luke s The Parable of the Prodigal Son The classic story of the Prodigal Son is one of the best known parables in literature. A parable is often times described as a short narrative which teaches a moral; however, the plot is more realistic, than say a fable, and the characters are humans as oppose to animals or natural forces within nature. Parables are also presented in a more suggestive tone, which leaves them more open to interpretation. The play Prodigal Son told by Garrison Keillor differs greatly in terms of style compared to Lukes The Parable of the Prodigal Son told in the Catholic scriptures. Both of these parables convey the same moral, however, both are open to very different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This style merely added to the parable itself. One could argue that since the personalities in Keillors version were more developed, it left less room for ones own interpretation. Because the personalities of the characters were more distinct, it also alllwed for more focus on the actual plot and the building moral. Since the moral is the true point to a parable, it would be pointless for an audience or reader to be stuck on the their curiosity of the type of people the characters were supposed to represent. More detail, merely aids in the strength of a parables narrative qualities. A major difference that I noted when reading and comparing the two parables was the usage of language. That writing style of the parables truly affected my interpretation of the moral. Keillor took a much more modern approach to the language that the characters conversed with. He also utilized more symbolism in the language in order to pursue more of a comedy type piece. An example of such is when Wally returnas home and his father is ecstatic about his return, and begins to give him gifts and attention. The father then decides amongst all his excitement that he wants to give Wally a ring, which he had already given to the older son Dwight. Dwight responds with, cant give it to the son who has worked his tail off for thirty years, oh no, gotta give it to the weasel who comes dragging his butt through the door (Kennedy 1366). These two were once in love, but persuasion by a person dear to Anne, lead her to end her courtship with Captain Wentworth. Once that fling came to a halt, he tried to move on and courted himself with Louise Musgrove. Austen s novels would be nothing without the courtships that she creates between her characters. Some theatrical conventions have remained the same, while others have changed. Consequently, Stolen Shakespeare Guild performance of She Stoops to Conquer strays from the original production. One similarity in the plays is the use of female actors. This play first premiered in London in 1773. During this time women actually played female roles unless it was a role such as a witch or a comic old women. Women even got the chance to play male roles especially if the character was a female pretending to be a male (britches parts) , or if the character was a feminine male. Women being on stagewas such a big deal that some productions would advertise having all the parts played by women. In the version, I saw of She stoops to Conquer women were playing the women roles. As a matter of fact, the story revolved around the lives of two women Ms. Hardcastle and Constance Neville and these actresses did a wonderful job portraying these characters. Women playing these roles designed for women made the play more effective because it added to it s believability. Women bring a certain softness to stage that I don t think men can offer, and that softness that was brought on stage by these actresses added a little more to the story. They are not intended to present a religious interpretation of life and we do not expect it from the film industry. However, religion is a large part of the lives of most people, so it is realistic to notice that religious references and ideas will be present in some films. William Telford s religion and film model [1] makes it easier to depict if those underlying religious themes are present. The movie most associated with religious themes produced by Disney would have to be the Hunchback of Notre Dame . As stated by Porter in the course notes [1], this film is a great fit for Telfords model. Claude Frollo, is a deeply religious man who believes he is doing right by his religion by taking in the seemingly unholy Quasimodo, after being judged by the Archdeacon. He feels as though he is acting in a righteous manner when he adopts Quasimodo as well as when he plans to commit genocide against all of the gypsies. As the plot develops unlike Quasimodo, Frollo s belief in the church disappears, and this can be seen in his determination to kill Esmeralda, believing if she is the source of his lust and refuses to be with him romantically, she must die in a Hellfire . The decisions of the main characters focused on right and wrong and good and evil throughout the whole film, and how one will be judged solely by god, which is a perfect parallel to this film and the very common Christian theme. Another film that fits well with Telfords

In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris OpГ©ra Ballet in a performance of Les CaractГЁres de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. A wide range of designs were on the market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft shoes to pointe shoes, to extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine manufactured rehearsal pointes for dance students operating on a smaller budget. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed, Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to create ballerina fashion shoes. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and contributed to a new dance aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was reflected by Marie Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide in 1832. Additionally, PPUs may serve an important morale boosting purpose for police forces, setting a high standard for competence and ability and creating a goal to which line officers may aspire (Breede, 2008). As an officer this is the standard that should be strived for and extended upon; the taking of ownership not only of tasks, but the well being of your sailors as well. Courage to me has many forms it could be that sailor/soldier who gets a soft whisper in their ear that tells them to enlist so they can stand on the front lines to protect others, or the kid who takes his and others fears and takes a stand against the playground

The moment the pilgrims departed from England and landed at Plymouth, they set the stage for the following events in American history. In the years to come, the colonists experienced a form of salutary neglect from the motherland, Britain, and delighted in a new found freedom. Although Britain created the rules and guidelines for America, they were poorly enforced. After all, America was 3,000 miles away. America initiated a few revolutionary movements, including Bacon s Rebellion; however, Britain quickly extinguished them. As an extension of Britain, America was expected to fight alongside their troops; this plays a crucial role in the French and Indian War (Seven Years War). Throughout 1754 1763, Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all, wars are expensive. The amount of food and supplies needed for the soldiers, along with their salary, costs millions, if not more. To regain money, Britain began charging the colonists more; however, their reasoning extended past the war s cost. The British leaders, like George Grenville and Charles Townshend, claimed that the laws needed to be enforced because the colonists were British subjects and needed to be protected and watched over. However, this mentality of imposing taxes overstepped the line of control, especially after the extended period of salutary neglect. The British started to tax the colonists in a way to show their dominance, not their support or love. After all, who did the Americans need protection from? In the Seven Years War, Americans proved their strength against the French by winning battles without Britain s help, and the colonist had been dealing with the Indians since the beginning. The only explanation is control. Similarly, during the Qin dynasty in China, the emperor enforced heavy taxes to gain control over the merchants and landowners; however, the plan eventually fell through. • 36. Pan s Labyrinth Essay Pan s Labyrinth The director Guillero Del Torro uses many motifs and parallels in his film Pan s Labyrinth. The most obvious parallel in the film is the parallel between the real world and the fantasy world of the character Ofelia. Both worlds are filled with danger. At any second in both of these worlds your life could be lost. Del Torro separates the real world from the fantasyworld with many visual motifs. One of the visual motifs is the extreme differences in the color of the worlds. In the real world the director uses blues and green and other dark hues. The dark colors help to represent the dark realities that are taking place out side in the real world. The fantasy world is full of warmer colors such as red and gold.... She makes the choice to prove that she is worthy to return to the underworld. She makes the choice to crawl in the frog hole and she made the choice to eat the grapes in Pale Face s dinning room. The biggest choice that she makes though is the choice she makes to deny the Faun and not give him her baby brother. This choice turns out to be her most important choice that she will make. A example of disobedience is Mercedes. Mercedes was disobedient to the Captain. Her disobedience put her at great risk. She had to take chances. The chances she took ended up paying off in the end when the rebels finally ended up taking out the Captain and his army. From the film one can learn the importance of taking chances and making choices. The film also teaches us about disobedience. Are desobidance puts us at risk, but is important to do what we feel is right. The film also teaches the harsh reality s of war and how it can cause men to do terrible

  • 39. Labor Vs. Capital During The Late 1800s The ensuing conflict, between labor vs. capital, during the late 1800s initiated a struggle of power in the workforce between the rich industrialists (or corporate leaders) and the middle class/lower class workers. The Capitalists had intervened with the protests orchestrated by the workers, ensuring that the power remains with them. The strategies of the industrialists and the unique ways of protesting from the workers, contributes to spur a vigorous argument between the employers and their employees. The workers tried their best to ameliorate their working conditions by forming numerous unions, trying to fix currency (gold to paper) to economically help themselves, refusing to go to work, resorting to violence and non violence, etc. However, the Corporate leaders kept an upper hand and dissolved the workers ambitions by hiring scabs, creating a strong relationship with the military (Pullman strike), controlling and fixing policies at work, hiring immigrants for cheap labor, etc. Throughout the late 1800s, the corporate leaders have been able to successfully prevent workers who had resorted to: forming unions, protests (ex. Pullman strike and Homestead strike), violence (ex. Haymarket Sq. Riot), etc., from achieving a radical solution to the workers issues with the management by using several different strategies including but not limited to: hiring scabs/immigrants in the Homestead strike, using government support in the Pullman strike and keeping the power on their side

The Americans had been trying to convert the Indians to farmers so they could take over their hunting land, and the American public was concerned that if the British supplied the Indians with weapons it would incite dangerous riots and revolts. To make matters worse for the American the Indians were being led by Chief Tecumseh who wished to unite all of the Indians into essentially one tribe to assist in their fight for land. However, when sifting through the various definitions of assimilation, there is one concept that always seems to stand out. No matter what the source is or how it s worded, there is almost always a reference to cultural groups. Whether it s the acceptance of a group or the alteration of it, the customs of contrasting cultures continuously come up. One such definition, according to the AudioEnglish.org dictionary, based on WordNet 2.1 and supported by Princeton University, states assimilation is the social process of absorbing one cultural group into harmony with another. Kristyn Hammond, a college composition professor in the Texas A M school system, describes in her eHow article Types of Assimilation, published on September 06, 2014, that as cultures mix and evolve, there is a transition of cultural traits, language acquisition and cultural identities from each group to the other. Hammond states later in her article that, While assimilation can be a brutal and violent condition of forced integration, it can also be a peaceful combination of cultures. Unfortunately, in the American experience, there are more examples of oppressive enterprises
