My rhetorical artifact is a goodbye letter from my mother to me as she prepared to
travel across the country to visit my grandfather. To understand the rhetoric used in
this letter, one must first understand that my mother never travels without my entire
family beside her, so this trip was out of the ordinary. The tight bond that my family
shares combined with the lack of independent travel my mother does, creates a letter
that is based nearly entirely in pathos. Because my mother was planning to be away
for an extended period of time, she used pathos to ensure that my family and I felt
her lovedespite her absence and that we would all follow through with the tasks she

experiencing. It begins with the memory of when she was in high school and how
she was explaining to her mother that she did not feel Chinese (paragraphs 1 4). The
narrator only knows of the situations she has been told about and experienced. Tan
explains exactly how the reader is feeling along with giving the reader hints through
June Mays s actions and words.
During her thirty six years of life June May has felt lost in her identity. When she
learns of her mother s death, she realized I ve never really known what it means to
be Chinese (paragraph 5). Now there was no longer anyone who believed Someday
you will see... it s in your blood, waiting to be let go (paragraph 4). June May
acknowledges the transformation she will go through during her journey to China.
This suggests that the reader is open to change; she believes that this is her way to
honor her mother by reuniting her with her twin daughters. June May wants to tell
them about their mother s death but she then realizes that the scene she has dreamed
of so many times is not going to go as she once wanted (paragraph 18). Then, in a

The film is sublime. It s funny and insightful as it creates very different worlds for

BARRY HUMPHRIES narrates and he does it beautifully. The animationperfectly
suits the story, it was five years in the making and it s worth every minute.
Comment: I found this film very tough going it is undoubtedly a well made film and
has some clever and quirky moments. However I lost interest around halfway
through the film and could not engage with the film and its clunky style. A lighter
touch would have made a huge difference to the viewing experience. Perhaps as an
artistic statement it deserves more than three stars but as a movie going experience it
was only a little bit better than average.
The clay only gave the story more credibility, others might differ in their opinion
about that, but I think if it were played by real actors it would be less believable,
(saying the tale itself was based on a true story).

Introduction
The rate of reaction (reaction velocity) may be defined as the rate of change of
concentration of a stated reactant or product. The rate of a reaction is found by
measuring the amount of a reactant used up per unit of time or the amount of a
product produced per unit of time. A reaction can be made to go faster or slower by
changing a number of factors. In order for a reaction to occur certain things are
necessary: particles must collide with each other and the collision must have enough
energy for the reaction to occur. If this happens the original bonds are broken and

Economic Pressure was used in the speech regularly to show the large division
between the rich and the poor. The speaker refers to the rich unnaturally elevated ,
weight of taxation, misrule and oppression . Destitution in horrid form stalks
through street, lane and thourghfare emaciated frames . The terminology reflects
on the economic pressures that the poor endured, high tax and poor working
conditions that often led to illness and death. He emphasised how the richer of the

Achievements Of The Israelite Civilization
The Israelite civilization dates back to between 1300 and 1200 BCE when they
settled in Canaan from Mesopotamia. This was considered their homeland. The
Israelites developed from the Cannanites, since their civilizations began together
along with the Jebusites. They faced a lot of struggles, but after migrating to Egypt,
and being separated into two kingdoms, they kept the faith that they would someday
return to their homeland. The greatest achievements of the Israeliteswas their
architecture, monotheistic religion, Ten Commandments, and their military.
However, they were not enough to save the civilization. They fell due to the decline
in leadership within the civilization, and attacks and conquest from the Assyrians and
Babylonians.
Overview
Just like any other civilization, the Israelites had multiple social classes. At the
foundation of the civilization was the working class. This was made up of the
farmers and artisans who labored all day and produced the items that were often
traded throughout the kingdom. The next tier was the military and royal court.
Anyone that served in the military was well respected by people of all classes. The
royal court consisted of any government officials, scribes, and the king s royal
cupbearer. Scribes were the secretaries and typically involved in judicial and
financial affairs. The royal cupbearer was tasked with filling the king s goblet with
wine and serving it to him. Second to the top of the social classes were the priests.
Similar to Ancient Egypt with the gods, priests were believed to have direct
contact with the god the Israelites worshiped: Yahweh. Because of this connection,
priests were considered to be very sacred to the Israelites. At the top of the social
pyramid was the king. The king of the Israelites ruled over the kingdom, defended
it, but also rules on behalf of Yahweh, the Israelite god . The daily life of an
Israelite was hard to determine, as archaeologists can only base this on
archaeological surveys or excavations, since no one in this civilization wrote
anything down or kept records. These surveys told archaeologists other useful
