Issues in Mexico Essay
When we hear discussions or read articles about drug wars, killings, and illegal immigration into the
United States, many of us immediately think of Mexico. As a nation, Mexico is a much greater
country than these commonly referred to issues. Mexico is a country with a broad history, deep family
culture, and an economy fueled by oil and tourism. The United States Department of State (USDS)
offers a broad range of information on countries outside the US, including Mexico. I found a wealth of
information about Mexico through the USDS Background Note provided on their website located at
www.state.gov. I will outline for you the key information found in this report, and others, related to
the Mexican economy, culture, and more. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Spanish conquest from the period of 1519 1521 ended with the establishment of a Spanish colony.
Mexico declared its national independence from Spain in 1810. The people of Mexico are a
combination of Aztecs, Mayas, Olmecs, Toltecs, and Spanish. Mexico is a Christian nation, with the
primary religion being Catholicism. 76.5% of Mexico s population practices the Catholic religion.
Protestants account for 6.3% of those practicing a religion, with 13.8% being unspecified. The country
is the world s most populous Spanish speaking country, with a 2011 population estimated at 113
million people.
The government structure of Mexico is a federal republic, and is somewhat similar in structure to that
of the US. The country has a President, elected by the people, and serves one six year term. The
country also has a Congress, which is a combination of a Senate and a Chamber of Deputies. The
people elect members of Congress, like the President, and they may only serve one six year term as
well. The current President of Mexico, Filipe Caulderon, is representative of the National Action Party
(PAN). PAN is one of several political factions active in Mexico s politics.
In recent years, the Mexican government has made great strides to reinforce the importance of
education by making access easier to citizens of all socio economic levels. The 2006 World Bank

War and Death in the Twentieth Century
The twentieth century was dominated by war and death. From the turn of the century, major powers
fought against one another trying to fight against those that oppressed them and others fighting to keep
oppressors from oppressing the people. World War I, World War II, and the Cold War were wars that
dominated this century, though there were many other, smaller, battles that took place throughout
these years. Powerful regimes that had been around for hundreds of years came crashing down with
new nations rising up in their place, dozens of peace treaties were signed to appease those that had
fought, and new political powers rose up and the rights of the people began to change. War drastically
changed the outcome of the twentieth century with the beginning of the century care free but, at the
end, many ideas and views of how life should be were shattered and war would leave a bitter memory
for many. The beginning of the twentieth century started on a high note. Most countries were pleased
with how their governments were being controlled and most of the people within those countries were
happy. However, this did not mean that everyone, or country, was happy. With the beginning and
ending of World War I, the ideas that many Europeans had supported...that man is always
progressing...that life is always improving, were shattered. Gone were the dreams of a prosperous life,
that life was good, and that wars were quick little squabble between countries with

Summary Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett
Taylor Santiago
The title of this book is called The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The main characters in the story are two
maids named Aibileen and Minny. These two are important to the story taking on the roles of the help.
Aibileen is a 52 year old maid who has been taking care of other people s children since she was a
teenager. A few years prior to the book s beginning, Aibileen s son, Treelore, died. Her recent
employer s child she takes care of and her love for her son is what convinced her to take the step to
have her experiences published even though she was skeptic. Minny is a sassy maid who is known for
talking back to her employers. She is very cautious about who she lets in her life because of her home
life. She had her concerns about the book being published as well. The protagonist in the story is
named Eugenia AKA Skeeter . Skeeter is a 22 year old college graduate who wants nothing more than
to be a writer. Her writing career kicks off because she published an anonymous book featuring her
point of view on how the white people act around the help and the experiences of African American
maids with their white employers. The significance of the time period being in the 1960 s is that
during this time period, there was a lot of segregation still going on. It was symbolic that Skeeter
treated the maids like human beings due to the high amount of discrimination in this time period. This
was the era in which Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. It also was the

Nestlé is proud to produce some of Britain s best loved brands such as KIT KAT, NESCAFÉ,
SMARTIES, BUXTON, GO CAT AND SHREDDIES. Around 97% of UK households consume our
brands and more than two billion Nestlé products are sold in the UK every year.
Nestlé is one of the UK and Ireland food industry s major exporters, exporting over £300m worth of
products every year to over 50 countries around the world.
The various functions of these organizations and the scale of their global operating environment
forced them to provide very different forms of communication, each with its own rules and objectives.
Ultimately they communicate to control their image and perception that external (I.e. customers,
suppliers, competitors...) or internal (employees, contractors...) stakeholders may have of them; these
organizations will organize the way they communicate about their values, their identity.
Internal communication serves two purposes, not only to help organize and facilitate the daily
operating activities to ensure the proper functioning of the company and contribute to its productivity.
But it serves also to keep staff informed on the economic, financial objectives, social, ethical and
political order to properly support the business plan. With the goal to engage them to make the

Similarities Between Web Dubois And Booker T Washington
Both Booker T. Washington and WEB Dubois were radical men of their time, and each managed to
have great contributions to the overall welfare of blacks. However, their methods for increasing black
status differed greatly. While Booker T. Washington believed that respect for blacks would come
gradually through education, WEB Dubois felt that black people should protest against their fate.
Although Booker T. Washington s methods were appropriate in that past time, WEB Dubois had some
good points that fit in more with modern society.
Born a slave, Booker T. Washington was an educated man who gave his life to promote the education
of blacks, and believed strongly that education was the first step to acceptance. Through his writings
and speeches, Booker T. Washington showed his belief in the dignity of work. He was not wealthy,

Washington had similarities in their ideas. Both Washington and DuBois tended to blame Negroes
themselves for their condition. They both placed emphasis on self help and moral improvement rather
than on rights. They both also wanted African Americans to have the same rights as white Americans.
WEB Dubois said The history of the American Negro is the history of this strife, this longing to attain
self conscious manhood, to merge his double self into a better and truer self. In this merging he wishes
neither of the older selves to be lost... He simply wishes to make it possible for a man to be both a
Negro and an American... This shows that WEB Dubois is blaming the Negroes for their condition. In
reaction, Booker T. Washington said The man who has learned to do something better than anyone
else, has learned to do a common thing in an uncommon manner, is the man who has a power and
influence that no adverse circumstances can take from him . In this quote, Booker T. Washington is
talking about that the Negroes have the power to change their

Julius Caesar In William Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar
Julius Caesar was written by Shakespeare in 1599. This tragedy opens set in 44 B.C. when Julius
Caesar returns from defeating Pompey s sons in battle. A celebration is being held called the festival
of Lupercal when Caesar is told to beware the Ides of march by a soothsayer. Caesar pays no attention,
thinking that the poor soothsayer had gone mad. The scene changes and Brutus and Cassius appear,
who happen to be brothers, to only talk badly about Caesar and his leadership. The two get in an
argument about how Caesar is a lousy ruler. Cassius feels Caesar needs to be removed, while Brutus
feels no need to do something about it. Later, Cassius brings up the idea of Brutus becoming leader.
Brutus immediately declines and never thinks anything

The Access Of Clean Water
In today s world, the access to clean water is unspeakably easy. Technology has revolutionized what it
means to get clean water that is safe to drink, shower in, and play in. The water that is consumed by
humans comes from water treatment plants, making it perfectly safe. Many people don t think about
where their water comes from, or the process it has to go through in order for it to be consumable.
However, many countries do not have access to clean drinking water. In other places, people have to
clean their own water using the sun to kill bacteria. This process is called the SODIS process. SODIS,
meaning Solar Water Disinfection, is a process that uses solar radiation from the sun to kill the
bacteria in contaminated water. When countries do not have access to clean water, they use this
process because it doesn t require money and because it is quite simple to follow. Water is put into a
regular sized water bottle and is placed onto an area that can be affected by the sun, such as a roof.
Small bottles are usually used because there is a lower risk of contamination because of the small
space the water is in. The water can reach temperatures of 70 to 100 degrees. The SODIS process is
simple, but it is very time consuming; one bottle can take up to 6 hours to disinfect. SODIS has proven
to be a very reliable way to clean water. In countries where people may have to drink dirty water, they
can suffer from disease. According to the Centers for Disease

Steel Town Case Study Jamestown
Steeltown U.S.A. was a great read! I enjoyed reading all about Youngstown and the challenges the
town had to face. Chapter 4: From Steel Town to a Nice Place to Do Time was personally one of the
best chapters in the book. It was so terribly sad to read about everything the once successful
industrialized town had later became. In only twenty short years, Youngstown had evolved into this
corrupt place; they even went as far to call it the murder capital. Once the mills shut down, the town
took a major downfall. Poverty, drugs, and crime started to replace the legacy Youngstown once held.
Before reading this book, I had no idea that the steel mill closings could cause a town so much
damage. What I came to understand was that the closings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mills were closing down because the supply for steel had greatly decreased. The town s lack of
industrialization caused other businesses to relocate, so the steel workers were not left with many
options. Also, during this time period, it was not very common for women to have a full time job: the
steel families really had no option but to leave, but for some that was impossible. I struggle with
wrapping my mind around the trouble and heartache these families faced in hopes that Youngstown
would find a way out. Knowing very little about Youngstown, I felt that the authors did a nice job
revealing information on the town and what it had been through. The struggle the families and
community faced was saddening, but it was really interesting to see how they worked together in
hopes to restore the town. A few things I really enjoyed about Steeltown U.S.A. were the pictures
displayed throughout the book. The picture from the New Republic issue on page 192 with the
billboard stating Welcome to Youngstown with the bullet holes was my favorite. Could you imagine
the feeling that one would have driving into a town with a billboard covered in bullet holes? I know I
would do my best to get out of that town as fast as I could! It was terrible how the crime labeled
Youngstown. The photographs captured in the book really helped me visualize Youngstown and
helped my understanding of the atmosphere the town

A Comparison OfThe Legends Of King Arthur And Merlin
The King Arthur story takes on many perceptions and interpretations. These perceptions and
interpretations can be very different. The show Merlin is an adaptation of the King Arthur story but
Merlin is the main hero in the story not King Arthur. In the book, The Legends of King Arthur and His
Knights, the main hero is King Arthur not Merlin. These two versions both incorporate King Arthur s
last battle but are both very different. Merlin and The Legends of King Arthur and His Knights are
different by Merlin tries to save King Arthur from dying but in the The Legends of King Arthur and
His Knights Merlin is not even mentioned.
The death of Arthur is different in both texts because the show wants to appeal to a bigger audience.
The main difference is that in The Legends of King Arthur, Arthur dies right after he gets stabbed from
Modred, but in the show Merlin, he lives for a another couple of days while Merlin tries to find the
place where Arthur will be saved. Merlin showed Arthur s death the way it did because they wanted
the audience to be on edge. In the show, Merlin is the main hero and reveals that he has magical
powers to Arthur while Arthur is dying. In the book Merlin is never mentioned and never was this
close to Arthur. The show focuses on Merlin being the main hero because they wanted to portray that a
common day person can be a hero. Merlin has magical powers and the show is based off of these
magical powers. For example, in the middle of King Arthur s last

Relationship Between Hindu Gods And Goddesses
Hindu Gods and Goddesses
Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world. It has a complicated system of many gods. These
gods can take many forms including animals and people. Hinduism, being a debatable polytheistic
religion, has many gods who create legends that can help explain relationships between god and
people while elaborating on hindu beliefs.
Hinduism is commonly viewed as a polytheistic religion. It s many gods make up a variety of
interesting stories and myths. However, many of these gods are simply reincarnations of other gods. A
god may reincarnate to perform a certain task. They can reincarnate in human and animal and other

Shiva is considered the destroyer of god or the god of that is intended to end of the universe. This may
have a negative connotation however, in Hinduism the universe is thought to regenerate in cycles
every 2,160,000,000 years, Shiva destroys the universe at the end of each cycle which allows for a
new creation (Mark Cartwright). Shiva is not destroying the universe but really opening up the
opportunity for new creation. The story of how Shiva and Parvati end up getting married provides
insight into the relationships between gods and other gods. When Parvati s mother did not approve of
Parvati marriage to Shiva. To show this disapproval she held a sacrifice and invite all gods, except for
Shiva. To retaliate Shiva created two demons to kill Parvati s mother. In the end the other gods were
able to rationalize with Shiva, allowing him to bring back Parvati s mother from the dead. In their next
incarnation Shiva and Parvati got married (Mark Cartwright). This story shows how god can make
flaws and how they can act irrationally. However it also shows how gods can come together and
reason with those who are out of control. Shiva shows us a more emotional side of god s bettering our
understanding of inter god

Lithography In Society
In the modern day, it s easy to see man s need for technology. The need to surpass previous limits is
what drives society today in such a technologically advanced world. Although we continuously push
for newer, faster, more powerful computers and components, we barely stop and think about how
society in turn affects its development. The best place to start would be the CPU1, given they are
undoubtedly the most important hardware of computers, as they act as the brain or command center,
taking and processing billions of instructions per second. Now, there are two main topics I d like to
focus on with CPUs: AMD s Ryzen architecture s2 influence and Intel s current developments with it s

Pilgrimage To Cythera
How each of the artists utilized the Rococo style in art in their own ways in the eighteenth century?
With the reign of Louis XV and death of Louis XVI, the Rococo style was more expressed in France.1
The term Rococo is labeled as French taste .2 The Rococo style is simplified forms, display shapes of

Difference Between The Jesuits In The 16th Century And The...
The initial difference between the Jesuits in the 16th century and later missionaries is how they were
allowed to proselytize. Famed Italian Jesuit Matteo Ricci achieved such success by commandeering
existing networks which he had noted were admired and respected, as such they adopted the dress of
the literati as well as presenting their message in a manner similar to Confucian, and even Buddhist,
ideals. Additionally the Jesuit understanding of science, math, astronomy, philosophy, and religion and
their attention getting instruments... opened doors and discussions with the Jesuit missionaries
(Schoppa 47). Relationships weren t all tea and roses as even seemingly acculturated Jesuits were still
considered other. It took the unequal treaties, specifically the Treaty of Tianjin in 1858, following the
Second Opium War, to grant widespread access to Christian missionaries (Schoppa 50 61).
During the earlier parts of the 19th century Christian missionary work was done in secret to avoid
persecution. This atmosphere led missionaries to accept the types of cover stories one would expect
from Hollywood, like a translator on an opium dispensing ship (Schoppa 61). More common, as found
in missionary records typically show a different story (Welch 12 16). Missionaries, especially young
single female missionaries, remarked on the safety and welcome they felt among the Chinese.
Travelers expressed their surprise at this by comparing missions undertaken as relatively safe in

These consist of improving the transparency of public tenders and putting into practice the declaration

System of judicial protection
In fact the judicial system is very weak and it is a real threat for foreign investment due to its lengthy
and heavy procedures. It is a major concern since the competition cases are handled by the usual
administrative and civil courts that have a poor knowledge of economic concepts. Moreover the lack
of competencies of judges in respect with competition cases are omnipresent since no case has been
brought into courts before. It is obvious that courts are in weak position to ensure an effective process
of protecting right according to the competition policy.
Competition authorities
One of the major concern is that the officials and the administration in charge of competition are not
able to enforce the related law and policy appropriately. Indeed the directorate of competition and
price control (DCP) has never been engaged dynamically in any measures under judicial control
consequently there is a huge lack of experience and on the job trainings for this official whose

My Critical Evaluation Of Various Components
The reflective essay will pertain to chapter 8 and my critical evaluation of various components in this
chapter. Attention is different for everyone, so ideally we all have things we play closer attention too.
When I m out and I see people who wear pink or have sparkles I tend to pay more attention that area. I
also get distracted very easily so if I am out and about and there is commotion going on I ll stop to see
what all the fuss is about. My own selective attention deals with movements, sparkly and pink objects.
If any of those apply my retina will process that for me. What types of things do you pay close
attention too? Selective attention makes me think of being at a party or some type of gathering where
you don t really know anyone. I usually make saccades of the environment. If I see someone I know or
looks familiar I will remain fixated for a couple seconds than look away. At that moment I try and
process how I recognize them. When I first saw the term dichotic listening this is what came to mind.
Whisper down the alley is what popped up in my brain. I learned this game in elementary school

American History And Its Impact On The West And Distant...
Unsurprisingly, many historic cultures have not been accurately studied in modernity. Due to personal
biases, incomplete data, or a multitude of other issues, incorrect perceptions about these collapsed
societies remain. However, modern studies are beginning to reveal the inaccuracies of those enduring,
false notions. It is valuable to compare misunderstandings to the historic reality in addition to
discovering why the past happened as it did. Although newer, more factual information will not erase
long taught misconceptions about collapsed societies like Jamestown, El Dorado, or the Norse
Greenlanders, it provides the chance to better understand historic events in an effort to help guide
decisions that could affect the near and distant future. Jamestown has a permanently secured place in
American history as the young country s first successful, permanent colony. When the Europeans
arrived in 1606 with 104 men and boys hoping to find their riches in the New World, they found a
largely empty landscape. Over the next few decades, the Jamestown people were able to thrive while
the native populations were dying because the colonists had more advanced technology, Christianity,
and European sensibilities. They were able to properly manage the empty, surrounding area, convert it
to farmland, and grow highly profitable tobacco that helped spur further growth in what would
become the US. However, it s reality tells a much different story. The first colonists arrived in March

Synopsis
Similar to most financial frauds, the Livent, Inc. fraud was masterminded by a few individuals,
primarily Garth Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb. However, numerous individuals were eventually
drawn into Livent s fraudulent schemes by its principal architects, including Maria Messina, the
company s chief financial officer (CFO). Messina, a former partner with Deloitte Touche s Canadian
affiliate, had previously served as Livent s audit engagement partner. The fraud unraveled following
Livent s takeover by an investment group led by Hollywood mogul Michael Ovitz. The new
management team installed by Ovitz soon found that massive, systematic irregularities permeated the

10. The accounting manipulations used by Livent officials included simply erasing expenses and
liabilities from the company s accounting records, improper deferrals of major production costs, and
capitalizing common operating expenses.
11. In August 1998, Messina and four of her subordinates revealed the fraud to a Livent executive who
had been appointed by Michael Ovitz.
12. In June 2001, a U.S. federal judge ruled that a class action lawsuit filed against Deloitte for its
failure to uncover the Livent fraud could proceed since there was a reasonable likelihood the audit
firm had been reckless in auditing the company. Instructional Objectives
1. To emphasize the need for auditors to identify the key inherent risk factors posed by an audit client.
2. To illustrate the lengths to which client management will sometimes go to misrepresent its company
s operating results and financial position.
3. To examine the issues raised when independent auditors accept key accounting positions with
former clients.
4. To illustrate the difficulty of uncovering sophisticated financial frauds masterminded by top client
executives.

The speech to help promote the peaceful use of the atom was conceived by pragmatism, dedicated to
being used in realism, and promoted by the government using an ideal setting. At each stage of the
speech and campaign many rhetorical purposes were used, some good, some bad, but both motivated
by words and deeds. The speech that Eisenhower s administration developed had three parts. First,
despite American protestations to the contrary, Eisenhower s Atoms for Peace speech was, in fact, a
carefully crafted piece of Cold War rhetoric. The speech was specifically designed to gain a
psychological victory over the Soviet Union. It was part of the American peace offensive launched, in
part, as a response to an ongoing Soviet peace offensive. Second, the speech creates one audience on
the level of explicit argument, but a much different audience when the implicit arguments are
examined. Specifically, the speech is directed to the world at large, particularly those nonaligned
nations in the midst of industrialization. It is aimed at that amorphous animal called world opinion.
Implicitly, it is addressed to the Soviet Union, partly as warning, partly as a challenge. Third, the
language is intentionally structured to invite the world at large to understand Atoms for Peace as a step
toward nuclear disarmament. In addition to the internal structure, the

Canadian Constitution Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
The Constitution
The Canadian Constitution, BNA act, Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Canadian Health care
act are the backbone of Canada s political system. The constitution is based upon the structure and
civil rights of every Canadian inhabitant. It is a written document which states the rules that can run
the federal and provincial governments and determine the responsibilities and rights of the cannadian
citizens. The constitution was created so if a person has to undergo legal problems they will be treated
fairly and equally. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms insures the rights of each being living in
Canada along with limits with legal rights, the charter was created in 1960 when it was signed into the
law by Queen Elizabeth the II on April 17th 1982. The charter of rights and freedoms includes
sections that have created challenges within society, for example gay marriage, marijuana, and issues
surrounding the canadian health care act. Before the Charter was created rights of Canadian were

Understanding The World Through The Study Of Knowledge
ABSTRACT: Understanding the world through the study of knowledge, the investigation of
knowledge, more thoroughly known as Epistemology, is the realm of philosophy that studies the
sources, nature, limitations, and rationality of knowledge. The most incisive expression of disapproval
of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing with
standards and inquiries of justification. Epistemology without such norms, is supposed to be an
endeavor not worth achieving. (Stroud,Alemder). What one induces of this is depends on whether
epistemology is worth doing at all. Nevertheless, I shall verbally dispute, it is possible to reckon for
justification within a naturalistic structure widely interpreted alongside with Quinean lines. In addition
to, I shall propose a corrective to Quine s acclaimed pronouncement that the Humean condition is the
human condition.
1. Descriptive versus Traditional Epistemologies Three perspectives The most incisive expression of
disapproval of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing
with standards and inquiries of justification. Naturalized epistemologies questions the tradition in
arguing that the sort of cognitive processes is more of a central epistemological interest than the search
for elements and justification. However, Traditionalists have replied by challenging the logic of the
descriptivist s assertion to be epistemologists to some extent (i.e

Personal Narrative-I Want To Become A Nurse
Introduction
When I was younger I always knew that one day I would attend college. When I was younger my
parents always told me that I would attend college. Nursing was my first choice to major in, there was
only one problem, (I wasn t so sure if it was me that actually wanted to major in Nursing, or if it was
my parents decision). When I was younger I was always very energetic and was told I had a bubbly
personality. My friend Chanelle and I decided to have a YouTube channel. We would just do random
things, and talk about our High School days, and give shout outs to people who went to High School
with us. The YouTube channel was called The Natalie and Chanelle Show , we got up to a million
views and we passed out flyers all over the school to advertise our channel on YouTube. As I grew
older I realized that I didn t want to become a Nurse. I wanted to major in Broadcasting Journalism,
and use my voice to communicate with other people.
As I grew older I realized there isn t many Latinas who anchor for the local news Radio stations.

Social Injustice In Richard Wright s Native Son
During the summer of 2015, I had an opportunity to read a book for my AP English class. The book
named Native Son by Richard Wright is listed as among the top 100 books by the American Library
Association. Native Son by Richard Wright was written in 1940. The protagonist in the story is a 20
year old named Bigger Thomas, a black boy; who lives in a poor area on Chicago s South Side in the
1930s. My examination and analysis of this book is that this book is about symbolism and the
pessimistic views of Bigger and this is effectively depicted by the relationships between black and
white people during the depression era. This book also depicts the central theme of social injustice that
was prevalent during those times. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a threat to the black community, political power may rise to a higher extent, making the
population double the violence of chaos and corruption. A sense of courage is needed to eradicate
violence and to end the influence of whites dominating black communities. The New York Times
article explains more in depth about how the black rights matter movement contributed to the
complexities of black political culture and how urban naturalism can be changed for a greater extent.
Life has value, but death is not simply another thing that happens to human beings. Bigger s attitude
gradually changes from not having a true meaning of life to having a true meaning of life. Reference
to Elle Hearn s quote, who is a strategic adviser, said that, It s not just about changing laws, hearts,
and minds, it s about actually changing action. From his perspective, he actually means to change the
course of humanity for the better. In the novel, Bigger realizes that an action of changing life s
meaning into something better helped him to change his own life. Although he couldn t acknowledge
that he was an educated person, he still had the time to correct his mistakes and to put off death by
living for others. The importance of the book and the article helped to draw attention to the main
theme, which is reflecting the behavior of the white society and revealing its true meaning. For
Bigger, his social attitudes and beliefs prevented him from taking opportunities for advancement.
Therefore, we all need to be ready to support ourselves and prevent racial tensions from happening.
The influence of the blacks has had a great effect on their political culture and their way of expressing

Texas has always been proud of their heritage and their industry. The boost in the economy is much

Texas government must take measures to improve the regulatory agencies so that the health of Texans

What I Learned From Class
Last year I came across a shocking discovery. One that made me question my ethnic background as a
whole. My biological father told me that he is originally from Ireland and at the age of 9 he moved to
America. When my dad lived in Ireland he lived with my grandparents eventually his mother moved
to America; after the divorce. Since his father was unable to take care of him he was put in an
orphanage, since they had no knowledge on where his mother was. Eventually, after 4 years he was
adopted by my grandmother who lived in Brooklyn, New York. My grandparents were on vacation in
Ireland when they met my father visiting an orphanage and decided to adopt him. However, my father
told me about Ireland and how the lifestyle he was custom to in Ireland is completely different from
the lifestyle he had to grow accustom to in America. Some of the stories I was able to draw a
comparison with to what we learned from class. The first story I was told is that he was not the only
child in the orphanage moving to America from Ireland. There was a group of eight that flew together
and escaped the lonely life of being by themselves. Shortly after moving to Brooklyn, New York, my
father started to attend public school and mentioned how public schools were completely different
than the schools he attended in Ireland. After doing research I found out that in the 1980s schools in
Ireland were receiving a large amount of funds from the government (Carone 5). However, Ireland s

The Effects Of Stigma On Functioning On Bipolar Disorder...
The Impact of Stigma on Functioning in Bipolar Disorder Patients Bipolar disorder, also known as
manic depression, is a mood disorder that requires careful medication management during a patient s
lifetime (Halter, 2014, p. 227). Bipolar disorder is described as recurrent episodes of mood changes
ranging from mania to irritability to depression (Halter, 2014, p. 228). Periods of normal functioning
are also recurrent with mood shifts. Often times bipolar disorder goes undiagnosed for many years
which is linked to undesirable outcomes such as suicide (Halter, 2014, p. 227). On the other hand,
many patients with a definite diagnosis report denying their illness because of the stigma that is
associated with mood disorders (Thome, Dargel, Migliavacca, Potter, Jappur, Kapczinski, Cereser,
2011) . Perceived stigma is an attribute that devalues or discriminates against a human being because
of their mental illness (Pedneault, 2014). Stigmatizing attitudes can negatively impact on the patients
psychosocial functioning, behavior tendencies and cognitive function.
Research Appraisal I chose to do an article relating to bipolar disorder patients, because I have come
into contact with numerous patients with both Bipolar I and Bipolar II diagnoses in clinical this
semester and I enjoy speaking with them and listening to their stories. I have witnessed them at both at

Shamanism Research Paper
Shamanism
To truly understand the meaning of shamanism one must uncover the original definition. The word
shaman comes from the language of the Evenk, a small Tungus speaking group of hunters and
reindeer herders from Siberia. It was first used only to designate a religious specialist from this region.
By the beginning of the 20th century it was already being applied to a variety of North America and
South American practices from the present and the past. Today people have gone as far as defining the
word shaman as any human that acknowledges that he/she has had contact with spiritual entities. Well

The fact is that well philosophers can speculate, even by the vaguest definition of shamanism they can
not prove that these individuals were taking part in these trance like states without written or physical
proof.
Due to the theory of shamanism being introduced into the Mesoamerican culture because of the
writings of Eliade and Furst, it seems only fair to look carefully at the relevance to their
interpretations. Eliade had originally acknowledged the oddity concerning the concept of shamanism
and, in turn, took it into his own hands to create a version this concept himself. (Klein, pg. 388) I can
not reasonable enter into the idea of this model that he has created. He clearly explains the existence
of shamanism in Siberia and inner Asia, in which there has been, documented proof. The idea that
because this is happening there does not prove that it was happening over 2000 years ago across the
world. He fails to connect the two areas, in time and place, feasible. It is extremely interesting that
only Eliade s point of view is found in the Encyclopedia of Religion. (Eliade 201 208)
Despite Furst s attempt to redefine shamanism in terms of specific American religious beliefs and
practices, the new criteria he provided have proved to be as unreliable as Eliade s. It repeatedly insists
that the concepts of the universe divided horizontally into an upper world, a terrestrial middle world,
and an underworld in the sense that

Plasmid Advantages And Disadvantages
Plasmids are small, circular, DNA molecules within a cell. They are not connected to the
chromosomal DNA of the cell, which means that they are essentially free floating in the cytoplasm.
They contain only a few genes and their own origin of replication a stretch of DNA that ensures that
the plasmid is replicated by its host. A plasmid is an interesting part of the cell as it only contains DNA
that codes for a specific function that is not necessary for the day to day survival of a cell, but only
during certain particularly stressful times, but during the remaining times they still manage to not be
discarded by their host cell. Plasmids can be found in unicellular organisms. They are most commonly
located in bacteria, however they can also be observed in algae and yeast. The plasmid contains a few
genes that code for specific functions. For example a plasmid can contain genes that, when expressed,
can let the host utilize a specific nutrient for metabolism of unusual substances, including the ability to
metabolize a toxic substance, or give them resistance to heavy metals. The plasmid essentially
contains genes that can ensure the survival of an organism under specifically difficult conditions. One

Descriptive Essay On Elkton
Elkton, Kentucky is a tiny, rural town that juts off of Highway 68. The heart of the town is the former
courthouse. Its steeple shoots proudly into the sky, displaying a clock of dubious accuracy. Old, brick
storefronts form a square around the courthouse, broken only by four streets extending from the
square. When I was young, riding in the backseat, I knew every detail of those streets. There was a
movie rental store, with posters I always strained to read; a tiny library whose young adult section I
had thoroughly explored; and a thrift store where I bought fifty cent stuffed animals. Elkton was
small, but I never thought I would need anything more. In my young mind, it was the only town that
existed. Elkton was my world. I turned thirteen the week my family moved out. With typical youthful
energy, I was ecstatic. I never looked back to the little white house; I only looked forward to the beige

Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown And The Birthmark
Hawthorne Prompt Throughout the short stories Young Goodman Brown and The Birthmark both
written by Nathaniel Hawthorne follow the formalistic approach. The Birthmark focuses on the flaws
of human beings as Georgiana who is married to Aylmer has a birthmark on her cheek. Aylmer
becomes obsessed with perfection and sees this birthmark as a major flaw with his wife. She does then
get the birth mark removed but dies soon after. There s a lot of symbolism between the two stories. In
the Young Goodman Brown , Brown s wife Faith wears a pink ribbon in her hair. The symbolism here
is the fact that Faith s ribbon is pink which is an in between color. Red is a symbol of evil or being
provocative and white is a symbol of purity and innocence.

Contributions Of John Adams
On October 30, 1735, John Adams was born to John Adams, Sr. and Susanna Boylston Adams, in
Braintree (or what is now called: Quincy), Massachusetts. He was direct descendant of Henry Adams,
on his father s side, and John Alden, on his mother s side, both of whom were Pilgrims on the
Mayflower in 1638 (Biography.com). Attending a local school during his primary education, going to
Harvard College with a scholarship, at age sixteen, graduating at age twenty, Adams was well
prepared for his future political career and involvement in American Independence. Through his
political career, his writings, and his diplomatic skills, John Adams greatly contributed to the
formation of the United States government, before, during, and after the Revolutionary War.
John Adam studied law under James Putnam and by 1758 had become one of the most well known,

Massachusetts Legislature, where he defended Thomas Preston during one of the many Boston

he nominated George Washington to Commander of the Continental army. He then nominated Thomas

Burlington Coat Factory Case Analysis
Burlington Coat Factory, as known as Burlington, is an American discount department stores
headquartered in Florence, New Jersey started on 1972. Today, Burlington is one of the largest off
price department retailers in the United States.
Number of Stores As of 2017, there are total 592 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico. Although
Burlington was started in New Jersey, California has the most stores, which is 65 stores (Burlington
Stores, Inc., 2017). And furthermore, 41 out of 65 stores are located in Southern California. Burlington
also tries to expand new stores up to 1000 stores at satisfactory locations as a long term goal.
Brand Image In 1972, Burlington Coat Factory primarily sold coats, but the concept has developed
until now. Today, they sell the latest designer clothing, shoes, accessories, and home furnishings for all
family members. They also try to offer current trend, high quality, and discount prices up to 65%
(burlingtoncoatfactory.com, n.d.). Although they offer discount prices and trendy designer
merchandises, not many people are shopping at Burlington compared to other retailers (nrf.com,
2016). One main reason is location and shopping experience. There are only few stores, so it is
inconvenient for customers. Shopping experience at discount store would be not good too. Wal Mart
customers were complaining about dirty environment, empty shelves, and poor customer service
(Irwin, 2016). Also, Ross customers were unhappy with unorganized aisles with damaged
merchandises (Peterson, 2017). Visual merchandise and infrastructure are not organized enough since
discount stores are selling off price items and outdated fashion items. Therefore, many people are
thinking of Burlington store as an unorganized store that has low quality items. Burlington also
received a bad brand image on 2015 because of their wrong promotion. They had been sued for
allegedly misrepresenting the comparison prices and deceived customers to believe they were saving
more than actual value. Thus, many customers couldn t believe Burlington s price and promotion after
that issue (Zinck, 2015).

First Impressions Of African Americans
First Impressions It is amazing how a first impression can affect something. It can determine how an
entire culture is perceived. The first impression is the birthplace of a stereotype. A reference point
based on a minority giving off the impression that the entirety is the same. These ideas are a plague to
the human race that goes uninterrupted, and here is no greater victim of succumbing to impressionable
stereotypes than the youth. The first impression of the African people resulted in their image suffering.
Africa has been given the stereotype that everyone is primitive and living in poverty. This is only a
very small population but this idea of them being less fortunate has more traction to the human mind.
People enjoy pitying the less fortunate and let s them feel like they are a good person. This seems
childish and self centered, but it is a major drive in the human psyche to be this way. The idea that
Africa is full of mostly poverty is simply not true. That s only a very minute amount of the population.

The Importance Of Citizenship In The United States
The citizenship clause was adopted through the 14th amendment to the constitution in July of 1868.
The story of the citizenship clause in the United States is the story of the Civil War. In Dred Scott vs.
Sandford, the Supreme Court decision that arguably concluded a war inevitable, the justices found that
black people even those born in the United States were not considered citizens. Black people were
considered an inferior class of people, who had been overpowered by the dominant race and had no
rights but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to grant them. This
clause represented Congress s reversal of a portion of the Dred Scott vs. Sandford decision which had
declared that African Americans could not become citizens of the United States. After the Civil War,
Congress overruled Dred Scott and passed the 14th Amendment granting birthright citizenship to all
persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof , before this
every state decided the citizenship of a person. The United States and Canada are the only nations that
allow birthright citizenship, no matter the legal status of the parents giving them full United States
citizenship. This clause was originally designed to give birthright citizenship to formerly enslaved
people and their children. But the Supreme Court confirmed in a later ruling, it also gives citizenship
to anyone born in America, even in cases where the parents aren t citizens of

Titanium Essay
1. INTRODUCTION:
Titanium has played a successful biomaterial in biomedical application especially for orthopedics
(bone anchoring systems), dentistry, drug delivery, and nanotherapeutics in treating bone cancer and
arthritis. One of the treatments of bone cancer patients is the replacement of cancerous bone with
implant material. The current implant materials have implemented coating technology (such as
Calcium phosphate or hydroxyapatite) which gives good cytocompatibilty but over the time it gets
encapsulated with the surrounding bone cells and lead to poor osseointegration. An augment of current
implant material, we used nanotechnology application tailoring nanoscale topography on conventional
implant material into TNA by anodization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This indicate the TNA may result in modification of the cellular protein lead to clustering or
aggregation and this could explain the variations in the cells shape and spreading behaviours that we
observed earlier. Our preliminary result suggested the interaction of the TNA surfaces with bound
cells may induce structural and cellular changes could be due to the surface roughness, chemistry and
wettability that may count as the cell interaction factors. Therefore, we would like to suggest further
detail study of genomic and proteomic test that can help us to explain this phenomenon. We would
also like to screen several oncogene and tumor suppressor gene expression in order to study the
potential carcinogenesis effect of this material.
2. OBJECTIVES
2.1 To evaluate the differential in telomere length of the cells grown on the TNA and the test control
materials.
2.2 To measure the expression of telomerase activity in the cells that grown on the TNA and test
control materials.
2.3 To study the TNA effect on the genetic changes using metaphase spread technique and
immunoblot for the protein changes in looking the potential anticancer properties.
2.4 To screen the possible oncegene expression or tumor suppressor gene product of the cells grown
on the TNA compared with the test control.

Spanking Research Paper
t appropriate to spank a child? One thing that really bothers me to this day is children who miss
behave and don t act appropriately in a public setting. Maybe it was because I grew up with a father
and mother that were good at disciplining and teaching me right and wrong that it just bothers me too
much to see a child get out of hand and have nothing done about it. One good quality about my
parents when I was younger is that they spent time and focused on being my parents, rather than trying
to be my best friend. I didn t receive what I always wanted and grew to accept that. It made me
appreciate things more throughout my life. I mean I may have grown up believing that I had the worst
parents in the entire existence of mankind, but when I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many reasons why people are fearful of the spanking technique are because they believe it to be
ineffective and dangerous. Some believe that it is only going to produce fear itself into the child s eye,
and only make the child fear his parents rather than understand that there is a reason behind the
spanking. Because of this act of harm some would say, it is only going to produce a negative effect
inside the child s brain and he will use this new found knowledge on other children. This spanking,
explained by experts, will only negatively impact children rather than producing a better outcome, and
will make the child produce a violent behavior of their own later on in life. While on the other side of
the argument, people believe that it if spanking is properly used and understood by the child, it will be
the most effective to repent undesirable behavior in younger children (not of infants). It s believed that
if you take away privileges from the child, it will only increase their temperament and make them
behave even more inappropriate than before. When children become older then spanking from the
parents or family should become less frequent because the child will understand that there will be
consequences for their own actions taken place. But the spanking shouldn t be used to actually cause
physical harm, because this would be come to known as actual child abuse, rather than actual method
to better increase the actions of the child. All and all I believe that spanking is a proper technique in
disciplining children. Although it s a good to do so it also has to be used in an appropriate matter,
otherwise it could just turn into child abuse. But I believe earth itself is becoming too soft, and soon
one day everything will be dangerous. If it were possible, would you want to live

Comparing and Contrasting Famous Artists and their Lives...
In the 1920 s he was a successful artist and teacher but with the rise of Hitler and Nazism his work and
art was rejected. He fled Germany for Amsterdam and after the war moved to the United States.
During all this upheaval and persecution Beckman continued to work. He was prodigious and his
output was considerable. He was in all the major institutions in Germany . Beckman was a critic of
Nazism and the fascist regime. His images criticized the use of propaganda Beckman used a very
forceful imagery. He used a lot of black with quick and knife like movements in his art. Beckman had
studied the great masters in Paris and he understood the power of historic composition the grand
statement and used it to his advantage. In this particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He grew up in Ireland to a wealthy family but his parent s moved between Ireland and England so he
always felt dislocated. He didn t seem to have a career or direction. He had a problematic relationship
with his father. His father introduced him to a friend of his who he instructed to take him under his
wind and make a man of him. Unbeknownst to his father the friend likes young handsome gay men.
The friend took him to Berlin and introduced him to cabaret amongst everything else . He had a
difficult life and worked as an interior designer and did have had some influence on the Australian
artist Roy de Maistre. While waiting to start his art career He felt he could not yet start because he
didn t have direction or a topic that would keep him interested. He lived in France for awhile where he
saw a lot of great artworks.
When he started this artwork (study of Innocent the X) he had to go to Rome to view Velázquez
portrait of Pope Innocent the X. When questioned about his paintings he said it wasn t because he had
anything against the pope and then he went on to suggest some lie. The real reason was the idea of
power and anger that makes people do terrible things and distorts them. In the original painting the
pope is screaming but in the nightmarish portrait by Francis he is screaming and angry with rage and
power. His presence is demanded with colours and paint stokes that seem to reverberate from his feet.

Women Are The Victims Of War
Human rights are not only violated by terrorism, repression or assassination, but also by unfair
economic structures that create huge inequalities (Pope Francis). Just as women are victims of
economic systems, they are also the victims of many, if not most, acts of terrorism and violence. These
can include domestic violence, sexual slavery, emotional abuse, human trafficking, etc. In these
ceaseless cases of oppression and violence, women and children bear the brunt of it all. In short, they
are the casualties of war. The spoils of war. The victims of war. Two prominent ongoing acts of
conflict which impact women are ISIS s widespread regime and domestic violence in Papua New
Guinea. Both these events emphasize the dire situations women ... Show more content on

As a result, they find the sex slavery system established by ISIS very appealing and are more willing
to support ISIS in order to reap personal benefits. Thus, ISIS uses systematic slavery and rape of
young girls and women to gain more momentum and support. Their justification for such
inhumaneness? The Koran permits Muslim men to have more than one wife along with sex slaves. In
fact, ISIS lures the women into their system by convincing them that they are pleasing God through
their actions and decisions. Overall, women in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Jordon, and Lebanon face rape, forced
marriage, abuse, forced religious conversions, and being treated as currency in order to further a group
that only seeks to pulverize women, non Muslims, and anyone else that prevents the domination of
their men.
Another astoundingly important issue the media fails to cover daily is the domestic violence in Papua
New Guinea that has reached its highest point in 2015. In 1992 family violence occurred in about two
thirds of the households in Papua New Guinea; however, the numbers today are unreported and
unaccounted for because the government fails to keep track of a severe issue affecting most women in
the country. In a 2013 survey 80 percent of men reported that they had enacted some form of abuse on
their partner(s) at some point. Through all this, the police do not take an active part in helping victims

A Brief Note On The Barrier Of Participation For Carers
One barrier to participation for carers is time. Some carers may be short on time and therefore want to
spend time with their child rather than talking about them. This needs to be dealt with sensitively as
carers may feel guilty that they can t do as much as they would like. There are many ways to
overcome this. One of these is using home link books. These are books in which practitioners and
carers can exchange information, comments and ideas on a daily basis. Another way to overcome this
is with emails. Providing that all consent and security issues are considered, email exchanges can
work well. Photographs can also be exchanged as well as information so carers can send photographs
of their child at home or during an outing. A third way to overcome this barrier is phone calls. Phone
calls can be an effective substitute to face to face conversations. Another way to overcome this is
parents sessions at a range of times. Parents sessions are good for relaying information but these need
to be held at times that are convenient for carers. Another barrier to participation for carers is
confidence. Some carers may find it hard to be active in their child s care and education as they may
have had less than satisfactory interactions with other professionals. They may also feel that they do
not have anything of interest to add or that their views would not be of interest. To overcome this
barrier it is important that practitioners make parents first contact a positive one and

  • 2. Issues in Mexico Essay When we hear discussions or read articles about drug wars, killings, and illegal immigration into the United States, many of us immediately think of Mexico. As a nation, Mexico is a much greater country than these commonly referred to issues. Mexico is a country with a broad history, deep family culture, and an economy fueled by oil and tourism. The United States Department of State (USDS) offers a broad range of information on countries outside the US, including Mexico. I found a wealth of information about Mexico through the USDS Background Note provided on their website located at www.state.gov. I will outline for you the key information found in this report, and others, related to the Mexican economy, culture, and more. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mexico is a Christian nation, with the primary religion being Catholicism. 76.5% of Mexico s population practices the Catholic religion. • 3. War and Death in the Twentieth Century The twentieth century was dominated by war and death. From the turn of the century, major powers fought against one another trying to fight against those that oppressed them and others fighting to keep oppressors from oppressing the people. World War I, World War II, and the Cold War were wars that dominated this century, though there were many other, smaller, battles that took place throughout these years. Powerful regimes that had been around for hundreds of years came crashing down with new nations rising up in their place, dozens of peace treaties were signed to appease those that had fought, and new political powers rose up and the rights of the people began to change. War drastically changed the outcome of the twentieth century with the beginning of the century care free but, at the end, many ideas and views of how life should be were shattered and war would leave a bitter memory for many. The beginning of the twentieth century started on a high note. Most countries were pleased with how their governments were being controlled and most of the people within those countries were happy. However, this did not mean that everyone, or country, was happy. With the beginning and ending of World War I, the ideas that many Europeans had supported...that man is always progressing...that life is always improving, were shattered. Gone were the dreams of a prosperous life, that life was good, and that wars were quick little squabble between countries with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett Taylor Santiago The title of this book is called The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The main characters in the story are two maids named Aibileen and Minny. These two are important to the story taking on the roles of the help. Aibileen is a 52 year old maid who has been taking care of other people s children since she was a teenager. A few years prior to the book s beginning, Aibileen s son, Treelore, died. Her recent employer s child she takes care of and her love for her son is what convinced her to take the step to have her experiences published even though she was skeptic. Minny is a sassy maid who is known for talking back to her employers. She is very cautious about who she lets in her life because of her home life. She had her concerns about the book being published as well. The protagonist in the story is named Eugenia AKA Skeeter . Skeeter is a 22 year old college graduate who wants nothing more than to be a writer. Her writing career kicks off because she published an anonymous book featuring her point of view on how the white people act around the help and the experiences of African American maids with their white employers. The significance of the time period being in the 1960 s is that during this time period, there was a lot of segregation still going on. It was symbolic that Skeeter treated the maids like human beings due to the high amount of discrimination in this time period. This was the era in which Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. • 6. Similarities Between Web Dubois And Booker T Washington Both Booker T. Washington and WEB Dubois were radical men of their time, and each managed to have great contributions to the overall welfare of blacks. However, their methods for increasing black status differed greatly. While Booker T. Washington believed that respect for blacks would come gradually through education, WEB Dubois felt that black people should protest against their fate. Although Booker T. Washington s methods were appropriate in that past time, WEB Dubois had some good points that fit in more with modern society. Born a slave, Booker T. Washington was an educated man who gave his life to promote the education of blacks, and believed strongly that education was the first step to acceptance. Through his writings and speeches, Booker T. Washington showed his belief in the dignity of work. He was not wealthy, and saved pennies for his own schooling by sleeping under a ... In this merging he wishes neither of the older selves to be lost... He simply wishes to make it possible for a man to be both a Negro and an American... • 8. The Access Of Clean Water In today s world, the access to clean water is unspeakably easy. Technology has revolutionized what it means to get clean water that is safe to drink, shower in, and play in. The water that is consumed by humans comes from water treatment plants, making it perfectly safe. Many people don t think about where their water comes from, or the process it has to go through in order for it to be consumable. However, many countries do not have access to clean drinking water. In other places, people have to clean their own water using the sun to kill bacteria. This process is called the SODIS process. SODIS, meaning Solar Water Disinfection, is a process that uses solar radiation from the sun to kill the bacteria in contaminated water. When countries do not have access to clean water, they use this process because it doesn t require money and because it is quite simple to follow. Water is put into a regular sized water bottle and is placed onto an area that can be affected by the sun, such as a roof. Small bottles are usually used because there is a lower risk of contamination because of the small space the water is in. The water can reach temperatures of 70 to 100 degrees. The SODIS process is simple, but it is very time consuming; one bottle can take up to 6 hours to disinfect. SODIS has proven to be a very reliable way to clean water. In countries where people may have to drink dirty water, they can suffer from disease. According to the Centers for Disease ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Steel Town Case Study Jamestown Steeltown U.S.A. was a great read! I enjoyed reading all about Youngstown and the challenges the town had to face. Chapter 4: From Steel Town to a Nice Place to Do Time was personally one of the best chapters in the book. It was so terribly sad to read about everything the once successful industrialized town had later became. In only twenty short years, Youngstown had evolved into this corrupt place; they even went as far to call it the murder capital. Once the mills shut down, the town took a major downfall. Poverty, drugs, and crime started to replace the legacy Youngstown once held. Before reading this book, I had no idea that the steel mill closings could cause a town so much damage. What I came to understand was that the closings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mills were closing down because the supply for steel had greatly decreased. The town s lack of industrialization caused other businesses to relocate, so the steel workers were not left with many options. Also, during this time period, it was not very common for women to have a full time job: the steel families really had no option but to leave, but for some that was impossible. I struggle with wrapping my mind around the trouble and heartache these families faced in hopes that Youngstown would find a way out. Knowing very little about Youngstown, I felt that the authors did a nice job revealing information on the town and what it had been through. The struggle the families and community faced was saddening, but it was really interesting to see how they worked together in hopes to restore the town. A few things I really enjoyed about Steeltown U.S.A. were the pictures displayed throughout the book. The picture from the New Republic issue on page 192 with the billboard stating Welcome to Youngstown with the bullet holes was my favorite. Could you imagine the feeling that one would have driving into a town with a billboard covered in bullet holes? I know I would do my best to get out of that town as fast as I could! The show Merlin is an adaptation of the King Arthur story but Merlin is the main hero in the story not King Arthur. In the book, The Legends of King Arthur and His Knights, the main hero is King Arthur not Merlin. These two versions both incorporate King Arthur s last battle but are both very different. Merlin and The Legends of King Arthur and His Knights are different by Merlin tries to save King Arthur from dying but in the The Legends of King Arthur and His Knights Merlin is not even mentioned. The death of Arthur is different in both texts because the show wants to appeal to a bigger audience. The main difference is that in The Legends of King Arthur, Arthur dies right after he gets stabbed from Modred, but in the show Merlin, he lives for a another couple of days while Merlin tries to find the place where Arthur will be saved. Merlin showed Arthur s death the way it did because they wanted the audience to be on edge. In the show, Merlin is the main hero and reveals that he has magical powers to Arthur while Arthur is dying. In the book Merlin is never mentioned and never was this close to Arthur. • 16. Difference Between The Jesuits In The 16th Century And The... The initial difference between the Jesuits in the 16th century and later missionaries is how they were allowed to proselytize. Famed Italian Jesuit Matteo Ricci achieved such success by commandeering existing networks which he had noted were admired and respected, as such they adopted the dress of the literati as well as presenting their message in a manner similar to Confucian, and even Buddhist, ideals. Additionally the Jesuit understanding of science, math, astronomy, philosophy, and religion and their attention getting instruments... opened doors and discussions with the Jesuit missionaries (Schoppa 47). Relationships weren t all tea and roses as even seemingly acculturated Jesuits were still considered other. It took the unequal treaties, specifically the Treaty of Tianjin in 1858, following the Second Opium War, to grant widespread access to Christian missionaries (Schoppa 50 61). During the earlier parts of the 19th century Christian missionary work was done in secret to avoid persecution. This atmosphere led missionaries to accept the types of cover stories one would expect from Hollywood, like a translator on an opium dispensing ship (Schoppa 61). More common, as found in missionary records typically show a different story (Welch 12 16). Although newer, more factual information will not erase long taught misconceptions about collapsed societies like Jamestown, El Dorado, or the Norse Greenlanders, it provides the chance to better understand historic events in an effort to help guide decisions that could affect the near and distant future. Jamestown has a permanently secured place in American history as the young country s first successful, permanent colony. When the Europeans arrived in 1606 with 104 men and boys hoping to find their riches in the New World, they found a largely empty landscape. Over the next few decades, the Jamestown people were able to thrive while the native populations were dying because the colonists had more advanced technology, Christianity, and European sensibilities. They were able to properly manage the empty, surrounding area, convert it to farmland, and grow highly profitable tobacco that helped spur further growth in what would become the US. However, it s reality tells a much different story. The first colonists arrived in March and by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Audit Knapp Answer CASE 8.1 LIVENT, INC. Synopsis Similar to most financial frauds, the Livent, Inc. fraud was masterminded by a few individuals, primarily Garth Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb. However, numerous individuals were eventually drawn into Livent s fraudulent schemes by its principal architects, including Maria Messina, the company s chief financial officer (CFO). Messina, a former partner with Deloitte Touche s Canadian affiliate, had previously served as Livent s audit engagement partner. The fraud unraveled following Livent s takeover by an investment group led by Hollywood mogul Michael Ovitz. The new management team installed by Ovitz soon found that massive, systematic irregularities permeated the company s accounting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 10. The accounting manipulations used by Livent officials included simply erasing expenses and liabilities from the company s accounting records, improper deferrals of major production costs, and capitalizing common operating expenses. 11. In August 1998, Messina and four of her subordinates revealed the fraud to a Livent executive who had been appointed by Michael Ovitz. 12. In June 2001, a U.S. federal judge ruled that a class action lawsuit filed against Deloitte for its failure to uncover the Livent fraud could proceed since there was a reasonable likelihood the audit firm had been reckless in auditing the company. Instructional Objectives 1. To emphasize the need for auditors to identify the key inherent risk factors posed by an audit client. 2. To illustrate the lengths to which client management will sometimes go to misrepresent its company s operating results and financial position. 3. To examine the issues raised when independent auditors accept key accounting positions with former clients. 4. To illustrate the difficulty of uncovering sophisticated financial frauds masterminded by top client executives. 5. To emphasize the need for auditors to thoroughly investigate suspicious circumstances and transactions discovered during an audit engagement.

The World War II Ended And The Cold War Once World War II ended and the cold war started to surface, tons of nations felt renewed anxiousness over peace across the United States and all the other countries around the world. Norman A Graebner preached that because of the Soviets actions following World War II, they brought back up visions of Munich Syndrome. The comparison symbolized how effectively the Nazi s military was able to spread through Europe. Due to the maneuvers of the newly developed Soviet Union, the United States and other allies in Europewere ready to stop the spread of communism and to make sure we did not live in a communist world. The speech to help promote the peaceful use of the atom was conceived by pragmatism, dedicated to being used in realism, and promoted by the government using an ideal setting. At each stage of the speech and campaign many rhetorical purposes were used, some good, some bad, but both motivated by words and deeds. The speech that Eisenhower s administration developed had three parts. First, despite American protestations to the contrary, Eisenhower s Atoms for Peace speech was, in fact, a carefully crafted piece of Cold War rhetoric. The speech was specifically designed to gain a psychological victory over the Soviet Union. It was part of the American peace offensive launched, in part, as a response to an ongoing Soviet peace offensive. Second, the speech creates one audience on the level of explicit argument, but a much different audience when the implicit arguments are examined. Specifically, the speech is directed to the world at large, particularly those nonaligned nations in the midst of industrialization. It is aimed at that amorphous animal called world opinion. Implicitly, it is addressed to the Soviet Union, partly as warning, partly as a challenge. Third, the language is intentionally structured to invite the world at large to understand Atoms for Peace as a step toward nuclear disarmament. In addition to the internal structure, the ... • 24. Understanding The World Through The Study Of Knowledge ABSTRACT: Understanding the world through the study of knowledge, the investigation of knowledge, more thoroughly known as Epistemology, is the realm of philosophy that studies the sources, nature, limitations, and rationality of knowledge. The most incisive expression of disapproval of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing with standards and inquiries of justification. Epistemology without such norms, is supposed to be an endeavor not worth achieving. (Stroud,Alemder). What one induces of this is depends on whether epistemology is worth doing at all. Nevertheless, I shall verbally dispute, it is possible to reckon for justification within a naturalistic structure widely interpreted alongside with Quinean lines. In addition to, I shall propose a corrective to Quine s acclaimed pronouncement that the Humean condition is the human condition. 1. Descriptive versus Traditional Epistemologies Three perspectives The most incisive expression of disapproval of naturalistic approaches to epistemology is that they are incapable of effectively dealing with standards and inquiries of justification. Naturalized epistemologies questions the tradition in arguing that the sort of cognitive processes is more of a central epistemological interest than the search for elements and justification. However, Traditionalists have replied by challenging the logic of the descriptivist s assertion to be epistemologists to some extent (i.e ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact of Stigma on Functioning in Bipolar Disorder Patients Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, is a mood disorder that requires careful medication management during a patient s lifetime (Halter, 2014, p. 227). Bipolar disorder is described as recurrent episodes of mood changes ranging from mania to irritability to depression (Halter, 2014, p. 228). Periods of normal functioning are also recurrent with mood shifts. Often times bipolar disorder goes undiagnosed for many years which is linked to undesirable outcomes such as suicide (Halter, 2014, p. 227). On the other hand, many patients with a definite diagnosis report denying their illness because of the stigma that is associated with mood disorders (Thome, Dargel, Migliavacca, Potter, Jappur, Kapczinski, Cereser, 2011) . Eliade had originally acknowledged the oddity concerning the concept of shamanism and, in turn, took it into his own hands to create a version this concept himself. The first impression is the birthplace of a stereotype. A reference point based on a minority giving off the impression that the entirety is the same. These ideas are a plague to the human race that goes uninterrupted, and here is no greater victim of succumbing to impressionable stereotypes than the youth. The first impression of the African people resulted in their image suffering. Africa has been given the stereotype that everyone is primitive and living in poverty. This is only a very small population but this idea of them being less fortunate has more traction to the human mind. People enjoy pitying the less fortunate and let s them feel like they are a good person. This seems childish and self centered, but it is a major drive in the human psyche to be this way. The idea that Africa is full of mostly poverty is simply not true. That s only a very minute amount of the population. There is much more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the age of learning and growing into society is the prime time for stereotypes to be set into motion. When a parent is raising their child, they are not raising a child. They are raising the adult that they are going to become. Unfortunately this includes raising an adult whose mind is full of preconceived notions and stereotypes. If humans as a species want to get past stereotyping then they need to start by training the youth, because the youth is the future of the human race. Unfortunately, big business and government officials use stereotypes as propaganda to push a product or idea to the people. It is frightening how well it works, however. People rely on government for the truth because they are the major figures that are looked up to for answers. Government and big business know this and use it to their advantage for profit or otherwise suit their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Importance Of Citizenship In The United States The citizenship clause was adopted through the 14th amendment to the constitution in July of 1868. The story of the citizenship clause in the United States is the story of the Civil War. In Dred Scott vs. Sandford, the Supreme Court decision that arguably concluded a war inevitable, the justices found that black people even those born in the United States were not considered citizens. Black people were considered an inferior class of people, who had been overpowered by the dominant race and had no rights but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to grant them. This clause represented Congress s reversal of a portion of the Dred Scott vs. Sandford decision which had declared that African Americans could not become citizens of the United States. After the Civil War, Congress overruled Dred Scott and passed the 14th Amendment granting birthright citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof , before this every state decided the citizenship of a person. The United States and Canada are the only nations that allow birthright citizenship, no matter the legal status of the parents giving them full United States citizenship. This clause was originally designed to give birthright citizenship to formerly enslaved people and their children. But the Supreme Court confirmed in a later ruling, it also gives citizenship to anyone born in America, even in cases where the parents aren t citizens of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Titanium Essay 1. INTRODUCTION: Titanium has played a successful biomaterial in biomedical application especially for orthopedics (bone anchoring systems), dentistry, drug delivery, and nanotherapeutics in treating bone cancer and arthritis. One of the treatments of bone cancer patients is the replacement of cancerous bone with implant material. The current implant materials have implemented coating technology (such as Calcium phosphate or hydroxyapatite) which gives good cytocompatibilty but over the time it gets encapsulated with the surrounding bone cells and lead to poor osseointegration. An augment of current implant material, we used nanotechnology application tailoring nanoscale topography on conventional implant material into TNA by anodization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This indicate the TNA may result in modification of the cellular protein lead to clustering or aggregation and this could explain the variations in the cells shape and spreading behaviours that we observed earlier. Our preliminary result suggested the interaction of the TNA surfaces with bound cells may induce structural and cellular changes could be due to the surface roughness, chemistry and wettability that may count as the cell interaction factors. Therefore, we would like to suggest further detail study of genomic and proteomic test that can help us to explain this phenomenon. We would also like to screen several oncogene and tumor suppressor gene expression in order to study the potential carcinogenesis effect of this material. 2. OBJECTIVES 2.1 To evaluate the differential in telomere length of the cells grown on the TNA and the test control materials. 2.2 To measure the expression of telomerase activity in the cells that grown on the TNA and test control materials. 2.3 To study the TNA effect on the genetic changes using metaphase spread technique and immunoblot for the protein changes in looking the potential anticancer properties. 2.4 To screen the possible oncegene expression or tumor suppressor gene product of the cells grown on the TNA compared with the test control. 3. • 43. Spanking Research Paper t appropriate to spank a child? One thing that really bothers me to this day is children who miss behave and don t act appropriately in a public setting. Maybe it was because I grew up with a father and mother that were good at disciplining and teaching me right and wrong that it just bothers me too much to see a child get out of hand and have nothing done about it. One good quality about my parents when I was younger is that they spent time and focused on being my parents, rather than trying to be my best friend. I didn t receive what I always wanted and grew to accept that. It made me appreciate things more throughout my life. I mean I may have grown up believing that I had the worst parents in the entire existence of mankind, but when I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many reasons why people are fearful of the spanking technique are because they believe it to be ineffective and dangerous. Some believe that it is only going to produce fear itself into the child s eye, and only make the child fear his parents rather than understand that there is a reason behind the spanking. Because of this act of harm some would say, it is only going to produce a negative effect inside the child s brain and he will use this new found knowledge on other children. This spanking, explained by experts, will only negatively impact children rather than producing a better outcome, and will make the child produce a violent behavior of their own later on in life. While on the other side of the argument, people believe that it if spanking is properly used and understood by the child, it will be the most effective to repent undesirable behavior in younger children (not of infants). It s believed that if you take away privileges from the child, it will only increase their temperament and make them behave even more inappropriate than before. When children become older then spanking from the parents or family should become less frequent because the child will understand that there will be consequences for their own actions taken place. But the spanking shouldn t be used to actually cause physical harm, because this would be come to known as actual child abuse, rather than actual method to better increase the actions of the child. All and all I believe that spanking is a proper technique in disciplining children. Although it s a good to do so it also has to be used in an appropriate matter, otherwise it could just turn into child abuse. But I believe earth itself is becoming too soft, and soon one day everything will be dangerous. If it were possible, would you want to live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He fled Germany for Amsterdam and after the war moved to the United States. During all this upheaval and persecution Beckman continued to work. He was prodigious and his output was considerable. He was in all the major institutions in Germany . Beckman was a critic of Nazism and the fascist regime. His images criticized the use of propaganda Beckman used a very forceful imagery. He used a lot of black with quick and knife like movements in his art. He lived in France for awhile where he saw a lot of great artworks. When he started this artwork (study of Innocent the X) he had to go to Rome to view Velázquez portrait of Pope Innocent the X. When questioned about his paintings he said it wasn t because he had anything against the pope and then he went on to suggest some lie. The real reason was the idea of power and anger that makes people do terrible things and distorts them. In the original painting the pope is screaming but in the nightmarish portrait by Francis he is screaming and angry with rage and power. His presence is demanded with colours and paint stokes that seem to reverberate from his feet. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Women Are The Victims Of War Human rights are not only violated by terrorism, repression or assassination, but also by unfair economic structures that create huge inequalities (Pope Francis). Just as women are victims of economic systems, they are also the victims of many, if not most, acts of terrorism and violence. These can include domestic violence, sexual slavery, emotional abuse, human trafficking, etc. In these ceaseless cases of oppression and violence, women and children bear the brunt of it all. In short, they are the casualties of war. The spoils of war. The victims of war. Two prominent ongoing acts of conflict which impact women are ISIS s widespread regime and domestic violence in Papua New Guinea. Both these events emphasize the dire situations women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, they find the sex slavery system established by ISIS very appealing and are more willing to support ISIS in order to reap personal benefits. Thus, ISIS uses systematic slavery and rape of young girls and women to gain more momentum and support. Their justification for such inhumaneness? The Koran permits Muslim men to have more than one wife along with sex slaves. In fact, ISIS lures the women into their system by convincing them that they are pleasing God through their actions and decisions. Overall, women in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Jordon, and Lebanon face rape, forced marriage, abuse, forced religious conversions, and being treated as currency in order to further a group that only seeks to pulverize women, non Muslims, and anyone else that prevents the domination of their men. Another astoundingly important issue the media fails to cover daily is the domestic violence in Papua New Guinea that has reached its highest point in 2015. In 1992 family violence occurred in about two thirds of the households in Papua New Guinea; however, the numbers today are unreported and unaccounted for because the government fails to keep track of a severe issue affecting most women in the country. In a 2013 survey 80 percent of men reported that they had enacted some form of abuse on their partner(s) at some point. Through all this, the police do not take an active part in helping victims ... • 46. A Brief Note On The Barrier Of Participation For Carers One barrier to participation for carers is time. Some carers may be short on time and therefore want to spend time with their child rather than talking about them. This needs to be dealt with sensitively as carers may feel guilty that they can t do as much as they would like. There are many ways to overcome this. One of these is using home link books. These are books in which practitioners and carers can exchange information, comments and ideas on a daily basis. Another way to overcome this is with emails. Providing that all consent and security issues are considered, email exchanges can work well. Photographs can also be exchanged as well as information so carers can send photographs of their child at home or during an outing. A third way to overcome this barrier is phone calls. Phone calls can be an effective substitute to face to face conversations. Another way to overcome this is parents sessions at a range of times. Parents sessions are good for relaying information but these need to be held at times that are convenient for carers. Another barrier to participation for carers is confidence. Some carers may find it hard to be active in their child s care and education as they may have had less than satisfactory interactions with other professionals. They may also feel that they do not have anything of interest to add or that their views would not be of interest. To overcome this barrier it is important that practitioners make parents first contact a positive one and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
