##und Man, By Ilse Aichinger And The Handsomest Drowned...
A man is limited physically by a rope tied around his hands and feet. Villagers are limited
intellectually where none of them have traveled around the world or they have not seen any of the
natural beauties and diversities that the world has to offer. One is limited quite simply and clearly
while the other simply cannot fathom the awe inspiring sight bestowed upon them. These are the
unlikely scenarios that confront readers of The Bound Man, by Ilse Aichinger, and The Handsomest
Drowned Man in the World, by Garcia Marquez. The Bound Man is a story about a man who awoke to
find himself stuck in a predicament where he has been tied up, knocked out, and left alone in the
wilderness with nothing other than the clothes on his back. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the case of The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, the characters are limited spiritually
initially but reach spiritual enlightenment throughout the progression of the villagers journey. This is
demonstrated by the women s realization that the body is beautiful in a way they have never seen
before, that body s physical abilities, the body s name and personality, and finally enlightenment. The
bound man in The Bound Man realizes that he has the ability to move, which shows him that not all
hope is lost... or that children (due to the lack of quality in the bounds) simply played a mere joke on
him. Although this event is not part of the bound man s journey, it is the catalyst for his embarkment.
During one of the beginning parts, he tries to stand but is unable to but, at the end of this first
experience, he moves quite efficiently. He laid his head back on the grass, rolled over, and struggled to
his knees. He tested the ground with his toes, and then managed to stand up almost without effort.
(Aichinger 69). This experience describes the bound man s progress through the first, stage of
reaching enlightenment. At first he tried to reach his goal of standing up but failed because he is not
fully aware of what his own limitations are. He realizes what he needs to be aware of and proceeds to

Analysis Of John Donne s Batter My Heart
John Donne s poem, Batter my heart, three personed God, holds the central theme that he has
rekindled his faith and love in God. By proving his faith to God, he hopes it will be enough to show
God that he finally needs to be saved. Faith is not the only theme that can be found in this poem. Love
is also prevalent in the poem. The theme of love shows his undying devotion to God, his back turned
towards the enemy, and he is ready to move forward. The themes of faith and love are exhibited
through the speaker s tone and use of similes and metaphors to showcase the desperation of the
speaker to be recognized by God. John Dunne s poem focuses mainly on being rescued by God, or the
Holy trinity God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. He asks God to free him from what is keeping him
captive, Reason, and holding him back. He wants God to make him new, purify him. The speaker is
overtaken by some evil, and he expresses that he needs God to use all his force to take him and free
him from what is holding him back. About the first half of the poem, the speaker is telling God what
he needs to do instead of praying and simply asking him. At the beginning of the second half of the
poem, the speaker confesses his love for God, but is explicit in why he can never be free until it is God
who has captured him instead. The main themes throughout the poem are faith, or perhaps
unfaithfulness, and love. Faith is an obvious theme because the speaker is talking to God and asking
for salvation and

Analysis Of Lee s Speech On Self Identity
Self identity is, perhaps, society s most important component. It s the element that differentiates each
and every individual from a collective group to create diversity. In a metaphysical sense it answers the
question Who am I? for each individual. Despite the fact that self identity is one of the building blocks
of the human psyche, it is not permanent nor solid. Decreased social interaction and doubt of one s
role in society are two of the most common cases for a loss of self identity, while life milestones are
the leading cause behind the fluidity of identities. Lee s Native Speaker approaches changes in internal
identity through character s interaction with language in society. As I will demonstrate, Ahjumah and
Pete Ichibata are cast as the primary devices to convey these transformations as one is near absent of
language and the other is an artist with language. In other words, in Native Speaker, Chang Rae Lee
uses Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata to elucidate that language is the medium that establishes, destroys,
and transcends people s self identity in society. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with languages leaves
her absent of identity symbolizing the loss of self identity. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with
language is made apparent quite early in the novel when Henry begins recounting her description: he
says, she spoke only when it mattered or when something needed to be done, or requested, or
acknowledged (Lee 64). Lee is using Henry and Ahjumah s lack of

Black Corona White Potential Imagination Summary
Black Corona and the article White Spatial Imagination both touch upon how real estates agents
favored lending and financing white families because black communities were a poor lending risk .
Another tactic that the white community often use was violence, because they viewed the idea of
black homeowners as a target on their own financial stability, as it would lead to property value
decrease, they employed violent tactics in order to ensure the physical separation of the black bodies
and to showcase Black people inferiority. Although they were no longer slaves they were treated
terribly to the point where they were constantly being segregated because of the melanin of their
skin.when the whites moved the factories out of the cities and whites ... Show more content on

Once again, because there were black bodies who were considered immoral, the government did not
give them as much resources as they would have had they been white. Due to such racial policies and
the decline of home property value in areas where black families resided in, the education children
received was not as invested in as in white schools. The infrastructure was run down and black
children had to take a bus to get to schools, whereas on the school that hosted the white children had
much nicer infrastructure thus making learning a more enjoyable experience. By giving students of
color such bad education it makes it that much harder to find careers in the future. Students who were
not given an adequate education because of the way the schools were funded became parents, who had
to work labor jobs in order to make ends meet, and once again their children would be left learning at
inadequate schools. Many neighborhoods that populate a majority of either black or latino students
have negative policies that ultimately serve these youths as a sacrifice from being students to prisoners
through the school and through prison pipelines. Essentially, when you grow up in poverty and you
see that no matter how much you try to succeed and integrate yourself into the education system, the
fact that a child isn t invested in based on merit,

Narcissus Research Paper
In Greece, there were a wide array of wild flowers, and along with this, a wide assortment of flower
myths. Thus, the Narcissus flower was a glowing purple and silver flower that Zeus produced in order
to help his brother, Hades, when he wanted to carry away the maiden that he had fallen in love with,
Demeter s daughter, Persephone. This flower, in particular, distracted Persephone from all the other
radiant flowers, and as soon as she reached for it, she was captured by Hades, and before she knew it,
she was being transported away from the radiance of the earth in springtime to the world of the dead
by the king who rules it. Nevertheless, Narcissus, named after the flower that hauled Persephone down
into the underworld had acquired a beautiful personality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a doubt, Narcissus went on his cruel way, but as he bent over a clear pool for a drink, he saw
a reflection of himself and instantly fell in love. Evidently, in the end, a flower, named after him, took
the place of his body. Another flower was the Hyacinth, in which it was shaped like a lily and of a
deep purple, and many even believed it to be a splendid crimson. This flower, in particular, came the
death of a beautiful youth, named Hyacinthus, who was Apollo s most beloved companion, who,
unfortunately, suffered a terrible wound from the Gods discus. With this, Apollo was grief stricken and
he named the flower that bloomed from his blood after him. Nevertheless, these flowers are the main
symbolic foundation of the Greek mythology in which beauty is supported by terrible sacrifices. In
addition to, of all these deaths and symbolic flowers, the most famous of these is Adonis in which
Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, fell in love with the youth when he was born and took him to
Persephone, who, evidently, also fell in love with

Forecasting Management Philosophy Life Cycles
In this research article Forecasting Management Philosophy Life Cycles: A Comparative Study of Six

characterizes a change in a management philosophy applied by the organization. Small scale changes
may apply on a broader scope while switching from one philosophy to another. Although it always
magnifies the firm s knowledge, making them much more efficient with the value added output. This
study takes into account Quality Circles, Total Quality Management Six Sigma fad. In brief relates
their life cycle patterns using different hypothesis and various databases. Six Sigma stands out to be

Moreover, the United States considers Quality Circle as a fad, while Japan conceives in a different
way. The evidence suggests that Quality Circles execution proved successful in Japan but failed to
prove its significance in the United States.
The above briefing raises few concern areas for me. Like, How the Quality Circle implemented in the
organization? Existed Circle meticulously organized? Were Objectives defined clearly? Were the
participants from similar functional activities rather dissimilar? It seems to me that lack of appropriate
training corresponding to informal problem solving, brainstorming, cause and effect diagrams to the
circle members may have created a gap towards problem solving. After the problem analysis, the
employees must present their views precisely in front of the management. At times, problems between
the management and the employees develop due to which employees cannot put their point forth when
funding issues arise. Management should analyze the problems, facilitating towards real solutions.
These are the possible few reasons responsible for the decline and temporariness of the Quality Circle
as a management fad in the United States.
The author juxtaposes the two management philosophies Six Sigma and Total Quality Management
and, therefore, perceives that they have chief components indistinguishable. Gibson Tesone (2001)
demarcated five stages in the fad s life cycle and on comparing with

Objective:
Question:
How does the amount of sodium bicarbonate used in a reaction between sodium bicarbonate and
acetic acid affect the amount of carbon dioxide that is produced? Hypothesis:
Except when there is not enough acetic acid to react with all of the sodium bicarbonate, the amount of
carbon dioxide that is produced will increase proportionally with the amount of sodium bicarbonate
that is used. Dependant Variable:
The volume of carbon dioxide gas produced by the reaction. Independent Variable:
The amount of sodium bicarbonate used in the reaction. Control:
The amount of acetic acid used in the reaction.
Materials: sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) acetic acid (vinegar) scale or balance large beaker (at

Trip Trips For The New Years Day Parade
One thing that is on every bucket list is traveling abroad, or traveling to Paris, or going overseas, or
some variation of that, and if one is lucky enough then hopefully one day that dream will come true. I
know personally how stressful it can be to plan a trip abroad; I have traveled to London twice, and
then to Paris, Florence, and Rome once. I went to London in December of 2014 to participate in The
New Years Day parade; I traveled yet again to Europe in the summer of 2015 with an educational
tours group. While I cannot tell you how to plan your trip solo, I do know the other aspects of
traveling. Today, I am here to tell you about the stresses and joys of planning a trip abroad; from
planning what your destination/s will be to planning your outfits for the trip, I will try to cover
everything that you can possible need to know. The first thing you need to do when thinking of
traveling abroad is getting all the details planned or at least think them out. You need to figure out
your main destination, you can later add on other destinations but you should know where you want to
go to for sure first. When figuring out your destination make sure, you really research that country so
you that you will know how safe you will be ( Traveler s Checklist. ). When doing your research on
your destination of choice you might see if they have anything that you should be vaccinated for just
for your safety. After you know where you are going or at least have an idea of where you are

Gerald Croft, as one might who is getting married. Gerald is introduced as the well bred upper class

he knew of her sacking of Eva from a rough sort of diary she had but we never have proof that this

that Eva changed her name to Daisy Renton. This information seems to greatly disturb Gerald, who
consequently leaves the room with Sheila who says to him, you fool don t you see he knows. Gerald
seems genuinely sorry that Eva is dead and he was involved, in her death. Sheila is easily
impressionable and from the very beginning seems to be in complete awe of the Inspector and later
starts to become the Inspector s junior, answering his questions and telling off the others for their
involvement with Eva s suicide. Sybil Birling slaughters the mournful atmosphere when she comes

JAWS
Director, screenwriter, and producer, Stephen Spielberg, has been often described by critics as being
one of the trailblazers who paved the way for the new Hollywood era. In fact, one of Spielberg s
earliest films, JAWS, captured the audience s attentions so vividly that the movie remains to be a cult
classic even decades later. The audience sunk its teeth deep into the enticing combination of drama,
thrill, science fiction, and adventure the film obtained. At face value, JAWS appears to be focused on a
giant monstrous fish, but with further analyzation of the plot structure, narration, and original music
demonstrates the brilliance and complexity of why JAWS is a well deserving Oscar winning movie.

Usually, films are neither holistically unrestricted, omniscient, or restricted. If a film is completely
unrestricted everything would be expected, which makes it extremely difficult for the audience to
continue watching. However, if the piece is completely restricted, the plot and narration ranges can be
severely limited. JAWS defeats these two flaws by containing both unrestricted and restricted
narrative qualities. Although, he is not the narrator, by watching Brody s strengths and weaknesses it s
unquestionable why any person would root for Brody. Thus, restricting the audience into following the
knowledge of Brody with the exception of the musically intensified shark attacks. For example, every
time the camera moves around the water and then focuses on the next victim s vulnerable feet the
audience knows an attack is waiting. The non diegetic sounds of the iconic musical piece, Main Title,
beautifully speeds up after the camera, thus indicating to the audience the shark is about to attack
without the actor s or actress s knowledge. This is vividly shown in both the opening scene and the
Alex Kintner scene as a tactic to get the audience s heartbeat pumping and blood pressure rising. On
another note, screenwriters often surround the protagonist with family members hoping this would
create a sentimental relationship between the audience and the character. However, this often does not

Modus operandi consists of motives, methods of killing, signature, and more. When investigators use
the M.O to create a criminal profile, it becomes easier for them to predict the killer s next move.
Motives can either have a category of power driven, financial, or revenge/mission based. Power driven
killers tend to disable their victims in some way to have complete control over them. Ted Bundy falls
under the category of power killer. He spent years evading police all over the country. His modus
operandi consisted of standing on the side of the road with a fake cast to get young women to help him
(Norris 218). When they walked over to help him, he incapacitated them and put them in his car. He
removed the passenger seat from his car so he could lay the bodies down without anyone seeing them

Many revenge killings take place because the perpetrator, wants to take their anger out on someone
who reminds them of the person they hate. One episode of Criminal Minds tells the story of a man

1970s, cruisers were generally older, however, there was a growing trend of young singles and young
families taking cruises. Carnival developed cruises from the start with these new customers in mind.
3. In a succinct manner, state Carnival s value proposition?
Carnival s value proposition was to be a cheaper alternative to land vacations at all inclusive resorts
while providing a variety of activities and destinations in one trip. Carnival was the fun ship ,
providing contemporary vacationing to first time and repeat cruisers. Because customer retention is
low, Carnival uses a more traditional style of marketing, focusing on the short term customer.
Each brand under the Carnival umbrella remained independent, especially in respect to sales and
marketing. This encourages the sister brands to remain competitive with one another and market their
unique value propositions. However, the brands worked together to drive synergies and economies of
scale.
4. Currently Carnival is utilizing a mass marketing strategy. If they were to change tactics and
implement a segmentation strategy, which segments should they focus on and why? What would you

The Importance Of Privacy Rights In Schools
Imagine if a person s privacy right was invaded and they couldn t do anything about it, would the best
option be to stand up for themselves or would the best option be to let it happen to them? Privacy
rights in school is a controversial topic. Some people believe that schools have the right to do
whatever they feel is right in the situation no matter how wrong it might be, but other people believe
that there has to be a good reason why the school invades students privacy. Students in school should
have privacy rights that limit what other people can do and search because if not it causes
discrimination, it causes issues with parents, and it is dangerous. Every student in America should
have privacy rights in school without the act of discrimination taking part. Discrimination is becoming
an issue in privacy rights. For example, Wisconsin lawmakers would pass a bill that will not allow
transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender that they would like to identify themselves as
(Bosman 1). This is significant because this is saying that whatever parts in there body they were born
with has to correspond to the bathroom they go to even if they identify themselves differently. This is
showing an act of discrimination because its not allowing students to go to the bathroom that they
identify themselves. This is something so little that is caused into a big problem all because
administrators are being discriminative. Additionally, a student who identifies himself as a

Weed Non Interference
The results showed that the effects of weed non interference and plant density on fresh yield (fresh
weight) of plant in both cuttings were significant at 1% level (Tables 1 and 3). According to the table
7, it was observed that weed non interference (hand weeding) had significant impact on the fresh
weight of alfalfa. With increasing plant density, fresh yield level showed upward trend so that the
highest alfalfa fresh weight was observed in density of 80 plants per square meter (Table 9).
Combined analysis of weed non interference and plant density in both cuttings on fresh weight of
alfalfa (Table 5) showed that the cutting had significant effect on the level of 1%. In general,

In the first and second cuttings, the dry weight was affected by the weed non interference and plant
density (Tables 1 and 3). The weed non interference significantly increased dry weight of alfalfa and it
could have a direct impact on dry yield. In general, we saw an increase in dry weight of forage by
raising the density, but there was no significant difference between 40 and 60 stems per square meter
(Table 9) though the trend was on the rise. Elevated density per unit area was directly related to the
dry weight, and the highest dry weight yield was obtained at density of 80 stems per square meter;
hence, the appropriate planting density is very noteworthy. The researchers have considered repeatedly
the importance of determining the appropriate density of alfalfa planting and other crops (Raoofi and
Giti, 2015). The results of combined analysis showed that the fresh weight and dry weight were under
the influence of cutting, hand weeding and plant density (Table 5). In general, the space was provided
for the success of alfalfa forage crop through the weed control, by more favorable taking advantage of
resources and conditions and by overcome the

How To Become A Cna Essay
Nurses Starting Off As a CNA In a lot of people s minds the Certified Nursing Assistant is the
backbone of the facility. Employers that have good and hard working certified nursing assistants tend
to have happier residents. On top of that, it is common knowledge that if a Registered Nurse is
qualified to pronounce someone dead, then he or she is more than qualified to take someone to the
bathroom. At every facility there are nurses who will make the residents wait until the CNA comes to
get them instead of just taking the residents themselves. Now more and more schools are requiring
that student nurses have the proper training because in a lot of people s minds the best nurses start off
as CNAs. In the world of nursing, the nursing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a perfect world, all of the units of a team work together. In the real world, many people know that
this is not a perfect world. Therefore, if an individual becomes a CNA they will have the chance to
make a real difference in the life of a person suffering from an illness, disease, or disability. People
that become CNAs before becoming a nurse learn good communication skills with patients, families,
and other healthcare staff. For instance, someone with CNA experience on their first day of clinical
rotations, will already know what to expect because of prior CNA experience. Becoming a CNA is an
excellent way to help determine if nursing is a good career choice for an individual, and nursing
students who have some exposure to health care by being a CNA may seem to feel more comfortable
when it comes to their nursing classes. . According to Campus Explorer (2015) being a CNA is proven
to be beneficial when it comes to nursing clinical rotation (para 3). What it takes to be CNA Being a
CNA, involves being a caring and kind hearted individual. If someone is not really a nice person, then
the residents and the team will suffer. A strong stomach is, also, required because the amount of bodily
fluids the CNAs deal with is beyond disgusting. According to, Nursing for Guys (2010) A CNA will
be used to cleaning up other s poop and pee. Also blood (para 4). Also to be a good assistant, the aides

Comparative Character Analysis of Classical Vs. Modern Tragic Protagonists.
A hero/ heroine is described as the principal male/ female character in a literary or dramatic work or
the central figure in an event, period, or movement. The classic tragic hero was defined by Aristotle in
the fourth century as, someone who is highly renowned and prosperous (LATWP, 639), suggesting
that there is a natural right ordering and proportion of traits within the human being that if violated,
produces calamity (LATWP, 639). The book goes on to define classical tragedy as one that involves
the inevitable destruction of a noble person by means of character flaw, usually a disproportionate
measure of a specific human attribute such as pride, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Wright s environment where she was continuously broken down by her husband was probably a
far cry from where she had imagined herself to be. Mrs. Hale repeatedly brought up how different

this now submissive, nervous woman who was Mrs. Wright was more a product of the environment

Review of Top Three Field Sobriety Tests
Field sobriety test: Review of Top 3 Sobriety Tests No. 2 Brief description of the stop The motorist in

lanes the highway. When stopped, the motorist seemed uncertain of what she was doing and where she
was. I don t know, she replied when asked how much she had to drink. She was barely able to put the
car in park and seemed more concerned about tying her shoelaces than the test or her serious situation.
Questions which often arise when determining if someone is driving under the influence are: Does the
person answer the officer s question or exhibit a stream of consciousness talking that bears no relation
to the question? Does the person appear to be disheveled or unable to stay alert? (Gaensslen, R.E.,

Abstract
We are replicating J.R. Stroop s original experiment The Stroop Effect (Stroop, 1935). The aim of the
study was to understand how automatic processing interferes with attempts to attend to sensory
information. The independent variable of our experiment was the three conditions, the congruent
words, the incongruent words, and the colored squares, and the dependent variable was the time that it
took participants to state the ink color of the list of words in each condition. We used repeated
measures for the experiment in order to avoid influence of extraneous variables. The participants were
16 17 years of age from Garland High School. The participants will be timed on how long it takes
them to say the color of the squares and the color of the words. The research was conducted in the
Math Studies class. The participants were aged 16 17 and were students at Garland High School. The
results showed that participants took the most time with the incongruent words.

Women In Colonial Latin American Culture
Colonial Latin America is an interesting period of history to study. Many changes have occurred
regarding aspects of both Colonial Latin American society and culture. Laws, rights, and
industrialization has occurred since the beginning of Colonial Latin America era, shaping its society
and culture into something new. Although some aspects of Colonial Latin America remain today, both
the society and culture has vastly changed. The primary demographic that this research paper will
focus on is the women within Colonial Latin America society, focusing on the lives they lived within
that periods culture. The theme that this research paper will primarily focus on regarding the lives of
women within Colonial Latin America society is domestic violence. Although domestic violence still
occurs to this day, it was viewed differently within Colonial Latin American society. How Colonial
Latin American society viewed domestic violence reflected upon the values within that culture. What

A man is said to have honor and is obliged to defend his honor and that of his family, while a woman
must conserve her purity or sexual virtue. She too protects the honor of the family, for by guarding her
purity she additionally assures the purity of the family bloodline. A woman is said to have shame.
Shame is a concern for repute, the sentiment that makes a person sensitive to the pressure exerted by
public opinion, and thus to have shame is to be honorable and applies equally to men and women; but
shame can also denote qualities of modesty or decorum that belongs exclusively to women. A

Applying A Thin Bonded Concrete Overlay
individual repairs, consider using a thin bonded concrete overlay. Fig 26: Popouts, Scaling and
Spalling.
2.11 SCALING
Scaling is the general loss of surface mortar exposed to freezing and thawing. The aggregate is usually
clearly exposed and often stands out from the concrete.
2.11.1 Causes
1.Scaling is primarily a physical action caused by hydraulic pressure from water freezing within the
concrete and not usually caused by chemical corrosive action.
2. When pressure exceeds the tensile strength of concrete, scaling can result if entrained air voids are
not present to act as internal pressure relief valves.
3. Scaling is also caused due to the use of deicing solutions. Fig 27: Scaling of Concrete Surface
2.11.2 Remedies
Begin by thoroughly removing any loose material to create a relatively smooth surface. Contact the
repair material manufacturer for guidance. Most manufacturers suggest surface preparation should
include repairing shallow delaminations, surface, scaling, and aggregate popouts. This may require
grinding the resulting rough surface. The committee recommends trying to achieve a concrete surface
profile in the range of 3 to 5 as described in the International Concrete Repairs Institute s Document
03732.
This is often the best range for applying most liquid applied membranes and most thin coatings. Most
liquid applied products are not intended to level off or hide imperfections, although trowel grade
materials can sometimes be used for this purpose.

Essay on money laundering
Money laundering is the routing of illegal profits from bank to bank to disguise its existence. The
illegal profits are usually made through activities such as drug trafficking, prostitution rings, illegal
arms sales, and various other things. Unfortunately money laundering is a serious crime that is still
prevalent in the United States and other countries. The Russian mafia, the Triad or Chinese mafia, and
the Columbian drug cartel are just a few of the groups that partake in money laundering. No one
knows exactly how much money is laundered yearly but it is estimated to be about $100 billion in the
United States. The United States is not the only country affected by these numbers. The estimated

Most of the money laundered today is done by some sort of organized crime, whether it is a drug
cartel, illegal arms sale, smuggling, prostitution rings, the Mafia, or corporations. Organized crime has
existed in the United States for many years. Some of the organized crime groups known for money
laundering are: the Russian Mafia, the Triad, other wise known as the Chinese Mafia and the Yakuza.
All of these groups are known for a variety of illegal activities that involve receiving substantially
high profits. Some of these activities may include drug trafficking, illegal arms sale, and various other
things. Recently law enforcement has discovered that corporations have been helpers in laundering
money. This discovery leads back to the Black Market Peso Exchange. These corporations do not have
a direct involvement with the laundering, but are a helping hand at times. Many times corporations are
the supplier of goods for the broker. The perks that go along with being the supplier entail getting an
exchange rate better than the market. An example of this is if a corporation has pesos that they need to
exchange back into dollars, and the exchange rate is 1,000 pesos for 1 U.S. dollar, the broker may
discount the rate to 880 pesos for 1 U. S. dollar.
The initial stage occurs when a criminal, or a group of criminals, involved in an illegal activity make a
substantial sum of money. The money is then put into the

The Accomplishments of Bouteflika s Presidency in Algeria
When he became President in April 1999, Bouteflika was in front of three enormous challenges. The
first one was the result of a decade of domestic violence and insecurity. The second was the
consequence of a catastrophic socio economic situation attributed to the legacy of decades of statist
economics (Bouandel 25 26). The third was the harmful product of the isolation of Algeria from the
rest of the world, or what Hugh Roberts called the virtual quarantine in which Algeria had been
confined since 1994 ( Demilitarising ... 1). In the course of his tenure, he brought about national
reconciliation, recovered and reformed the stalled Algerian economy and restored what he described
as Algeria s regional and international status .1 Under his leadership, Algiers has become a much
sought after interlocutor in major world capitals (Ghilès). His civil concord and national reconciliation
initiatives to re establish peace and security at home, and his projects to revive the economy of his
troubled nation, and to re integrate Algeria, one of the potentially richest and important countries in
the Arab world, in international trade and diplomacy persuaded many foreign countries to mend
relations with Algiers. Although Algeria s relations with global powers continued to face difficulties,
Bouteflika used his country s significant economic potential to give Algeria a considerable importance
in the eyes of all global actors.Wherever he went, he provided an overview of the investment

Space Colonization Vs Transhumanism
Space Colonization
While it doesn t seem like Transhumanism would be relevant here, humans are not adapted for space
travel (short lifespans, the need of oxygen, etc.). By then it will have to be accepted or else population
explosions and the way we are treating this planet currently, won t leave us a bunch of options in the
future. And at that point it will be look to the stars or perish.
Cybernetics
We touched on this earlier with Hugh Herr and his exoskeleton and his artificial limbs, his goal was to
make them seamlessly work with the human body at that point we have reach some form of
cybernetics. Each d ifferent augment would have a different task, it wouldn t be as subtle but the
effects would be immediate. Neil Harbisson (2012) is a man that was born colorblind, but due to
cybernetics he designed an eye that would transmit visual to sound.(TED, 2012) This would allow
colors to have a musical note to them, seeing the color red for him would be an F# whereas blue might
be a G. With Transhumanism this is one of the more common subjects you will see, because it is one
of the more desirable, the ability to ear at greater distances, smells that you never knew existed. It
could change the way our food would taste and the music we enjoy, more importantly change the way
we live our daily lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. ##und Man, By Ilse Aichinger And The Handsomest Drowned... A man is limited physically by a rope tied around his hands and feet. Villagers are limited intellectually where none of them have traveled around the world or they have not seen any of the natural beauties and diversities that the world has to offer. One is limited quite simply and clearly while the other simply cannot fathom the awe inspiring sight bestowed upon them. These are the unlikely scenarios that confront readers of The Bound Man, by Ilse Aichinger, and The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, by Garcia Marquez. The Bound Man is a story about a man who awoke to find himself stuck in a predicament where he has been tied up, knocked out, and left alone in the wilderness with nothing other than the clothes on his back. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World, the characters are limited spiritually initially but reach spiritual enlightenment throughout the progression of the villagers journey. This is demonstrated by the women s realization that the body is beautiful in a way they have never seen before, that body s physical abilities, the body s name and personality, and finally enlightenment. The bound man in The Bound Man realizes that he has the ability to move, which shows him that not all hope is lost... or that children (due to the lack of quality in the bounds) simply played a mere joke on him. Although this event is not part of the bound man s journey, it is the catalyst for his embarkment. During one of the beginning parts, he tries to stand but is unable to but, at the end of this first experience, he moves quite efficiently. He laid his head back on the grass, rolled over, and struggled to his knees. He tested the ground with his toes, and then managed to stand up almost without effort. (Aichinger 69). This experience describes the bound man s progress through the first, stage of reaching enlightenment. At first he tried to reach his goal of standing up but failed because he is not fully aware of what his own limitations are. He realizes what he needs to be aware of and proceeds to ... By trying to grow too fast. The landlord with whom she signed the lease is entitled to collect payment from Alison regardless of her financial circumstances; even if she did not ultimately move into the space she had leased, she is responsible for paying the lease she contracted to pay until another tenant is found. Looking at what Alison is doing, it seems she is trying to gamble her existing business against its future potential growth and revenue. 4. Alison s fund raising has appeared to rely more heavily on equity investors than in the taking on of debt, and while this might provide greater security for the business s growth, it presents a much lower rate of expected return for equity investors. Given the markup that retail establishments typically employ for their products and the profit margin that exists for many businesses. 5. • 4. Analysis Of John Donne s Batter My Heart John Donne s poem, Batter my heart, three personed God, holds the central theme that he has rekindled his faith and love in God. By proving his faith to God, he hopes it will be enough to show God that he finally needs to be saved. Faith is not the only theme that can be found in this poem. Love is also prevalent in the poem. The theme of love shows his undying devotion to God, his back turned towards the enemy, and he is ready to move forward. The themes of faith and love are exhibited through the speaker s tone and use of similes and metaphors to showcase the desperation of the speaker to be recognized by God. John Dunne s poem focuses mainly on being rescued by God, or the Holy trinity God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. He asks God to free him from what is keeping him captive, Reason, and holding him back. He wants God to make him new, purify him. The speaker is overtaken by some evil, and he expresses that he needs God to use all his force to take him and free him from what is holding him back. About the first half of the poem, the speaker is telling God what he needs to do instead of praying and simply asking him. At the beginning of the second half of the poem, the speaker confesses his love for God, but is explicit in why he can never be free until it is God who has captured him instead. The main themes throughout the poem are faith, or perhaps unfaithfulness, and love. Faith is an obvious theme because the speaker is talking to God and asking for salvation and ... • 5. Analysis Of Lee s Speech On Self Identity Self identity is, perhaps, society s most important component. It s the element that differentiates each and every individual from a collective group to create diversity. In a metaphysical sense it answers the question Who am I? for each individual. Despite the fact that self identity is one of the building blocks of the human psyche, it is not permanent nor solid. Decreased social interaction and doubt of one s role in society are two of the most common cases for a loss of self identity, while life milestones are the leading cause behind the fluidity of identities. Lee s Native Speaker approaches changes in internal identity through character s interaction with language in society. As I will demonstrate, Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata are cast as the primary devices to convey these transformations as one is near absent of language and the other is an artist with language. In other words, in Native Speaker, Chang Rae Lee uses Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata to elucidate that language is the medium that establishes, destroys, and transcends people s self identity in society. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with languages leaves her absent of identity symbolizing the loss of self identity. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with language is made apparent quite early in the novel when Henry begins recounting her description: he says, she spoke only when it mattered or when something needed to be done, or requested, or acknowledged (Lee 64). Lee is using Henry and Ahjumah s lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Black Corona White Potential Imagination Summary Black Corona and the article White Spatial Imagination both touch upon how real estates agents favored lending and financing white families because black communities were a poor lending risk . Another tactic that the white community often use was violence, because they viewed the idea of black homeowners as a target on their own financial stability, as it would lead to property value decrease, they employed violent tactics in order to ensure the physical separation of the black bodies and to showcase Black people inferiority. Although they were no longer slaves they were treated terribly to the point where they were constantly being segregated because of the melanin of their skin.when the whites moved the factories out of the cities and whites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once again, because there were black bodies who were considered immoral, the government did not give them as much resources as they would have had they been white. Due to such racial policies and the decline of home property value in areas where black families resided in, the education children received was not as invested in as in white schools. The infrastructure was run down and black children had to take a bus to get to schools, whereas on the school that hosted the white children had much nicer infrastructure thus making learning a more enjoyable experience. By giving students of color such bad education it makes it that much harder to find careers in the future. Students who were not given an adequate education because of the way the schools were funded became parents, who had to work labor jobs in order to make ends meet, and once again their children would be left learning at inadequate schools. Many neighborhoods that populate a majority of either black or latino students have negative policies that ultimately serve these youths as a sacrifice from being students to prisoners through the school and through prison pipelines. Essentially, when you grow up in poverty and you see that no matter how much you try to succeed and integrate yourself into the education system, the fact that a child isn t invested in based on merit, ... • 7. Narcissus Research Paper In Greece, there were a wide array of wild flowers, and along with this, a wide assortment of flower myths. Thus, the Narcissus flower was a glowing purple and silver flower that Zeus produced in order to help his brother, Hades, when he wanted to carry away the maiden that he had fallen in love with, Demeter s daughter, Persephone. This flower, in particular, distracted Persephone from all the other radiant flowers, and as soon as she reached for it, she was captured by Hades, and before she knew it, she was being transported away from the radiance of the earth in springtime to the world of the dead by the king who rules it. Nevertheless, Narcissus, named after the flower that hauled Persephone down into the underworld had acquired a beautiful personality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a doubt, Narcissus went on his cruel way, but as he bent over a clear pool for a drink, he saw a reflection of himself and instantly fell in love. Evidently, in the end, a flower, named after him, took the place of his body. Another flower was the Hyacinth, in which it was shaped like a lily and of a deep purple, and many even believed it to be a splendid crimson. This flower, in particular, came the death of a beautiful youth, named Hyacinthus, who was Apollo s most beloved companion, who, unfortunately, suffered a terrible wound from the Gods discus. With this, Apollo was grief stricken and he named the flower that bloomed from his blood after him. Nevertheless, these flowers are the main symbolic foundation of the Greek mythology in which beauty is supported by terrible sacrifices. In addition to, of all these deaths and symbolic flowers, the most famous of these is Adonis in which Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, fell in love with the youth when he was born and took him to Persephone, who, evidently, also fell in love with ... Management fad characterizes a change in a management philosophy applied by the organization. Small scale changes may apply on a broader scope while switching from one philosophy to another. Although it always magnifies the firm s knowledge, making them much more efficient with the value added output. This study takes into account Quality Circles, Total Quality Management Six Sigma fad. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, the United States considers Quality Circle as a fad, while Japan conceives in a different way. The evidence suggests that Quality Circles execution proved successful in Japan but failed to prove its significance in the United States. The above briefing raises few concern areas for me. Like, How the Quality Circle implemented in the organization? Existed Circle meticulously organized? Were Objectives defined clearly? Were the participants from similar functional activities rather dissimilar? It seems to me that lack of appropriate training corresponding to informal problem solving, brainstorming, cause and effect diagrams to the circle members may have created a gap towards problem solving. After the problem analysis, the employees must present their views precisely in front of the management. At times, problems between the management and the employees develop due to which employees cannot put their point forth when funding issues arise. Management should analyze the problems, facilitating towards real solutions. These are the possible few reasons responsible for the decline and temporariness of the Quality Circle as a management fad in the United States. The author juxtaposes the two management philosophies Six Sigma and Total Quality Management and, therefore, perceives that they have chief components indistinguishable. Trip Trips For The New Years Day Parade One thing that is on every bucket list is traveling abroad, or traveling to Paris, or going overseas, or some variation of that, and if one is lucky enough then hopefully one day that dream will come true. I know personally how stressful it can be to plan a trip abroad; I have traveled to London twice, and then to Paris, Florence, and Rome once. I went to London in December of 2014 to participate in The New Years Day parade; I traveled yet again to Europe in the summer of 2015 with an educational tours group. While I cannot tell you how to plan your trip solo, I do know the other aspects of traveling. Today, I am here to tell you about the stresses and joys of planning a trip abroad; from planning what your destination/s will be to planning your outfits for the trip, I will try to cover everything that you can possible need to know. The first thing you need to do when thinking of traveling abroad is getting all the details planned or at least think them out. You need to figure out your main destination, you can later add on other destinations but you should know where you want to go to for sure first. When figuring out your destination make sure, you really research that country so you that you will know how safe you will be ( Traveler s Checklist. ). In fear of these neighboring facilities luring away their physicians for good, NYU administrators paid the medical center s physician s salaries through the end of January 2013, on the condition they would not take another position (NYU Langone Medical Center, 2014). Repairing the damage was a long and very expensive process. In mid November of that year, NYU Langone reopened some of their outpatient care services. In late December, the hospital reopened its inpatient and surgical services, resulting in over 20,000 workers returning to their jobs. Eighteen months after the hurricane the medical center s emergency department reopened, three times its former size after a major renovation and expansion, on April 24, 2014. In addition to the physical damage of the medical center, NYU s medical research was destroyed in the storm. The loss of power and flooding wiped out years of cancer and neuroscience research. The medical center lost thousands of research animals, cells, tissues, enzymes, antibodies, and DNA strands crucial to scientific research. Resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of work ravaged. Hurricane Sandy inflicted unprecedented damage to NYU Langone Medical Center. Its progression is that of ignorance to knowledge. The characters are the Birling family, Gerald Croft and of course the formidable Inspector Goole. This information seems to greatly disturb Gerald, who consequently leaves the room with Sheila who says to him, you fool don t you see he knows. Sheila is easily impressionable and from the very beginning seems to be in complete awe of the Inspector and later starts to become the Inspector s junior, answering his questions and telling off the others for their involvement with Eva s suicide. Sybil Birling slaughters the mournful atmosphere when she comes into the scene with a cheerful, Good evening Inspector . In fact, one of Spielberg s earliest films, JAWS, captured the audience s attentions so vividly that the movie remains to be a cult classic even decades later. The audience sunk its teeth deep into the enticing combination of drama, thrill, science fiction, and adventure the film obtained. At face value, JAWS appears to be focused on a giant monstrous fish, but with further analyzation of the plot structure, narration, and original music demonstrates the brilliance and complexity of why JAWS is a well deserving Oscar winning movie. If a film is completely unrestricted everything would be expected, which makes it extremely difficult for the audience to continue watching. However, if the piece is completely restricted, the plot and narration ranges can be severely limited. JAWS defeats these two flaws by containing both unrestricted and restricted narrative qualities. Although, he is not the narrator, by watching Brody s strengths and weaknesses it s unquestionable why any person would root for Brody. Thus, restricting the audience into following the knowledge of Brody with the exception of the musically intensified shark attacks. For example, every time the camera moves around the water and then focuses on the next victim s vulnerable feet the audience knows an attack is waiting. The non diegetic sounds of the iconic musical piece, Main Title, beautifully speeds up after the camera, thus indicating to the audience the shark is about to attack without the actor s or actress s knowledge. This is vividly shown in both the opening scene and the Alex Kintner scene as a tactic to get the audience s heartbeat pumping and blood pressure rising. Privacy rights in school is a controversial topic. Some people believe that schools have the right to do whatever they feel is right in the situation no matter how wrong it might be, but other people believe that there has to be a good reason why the school invades students privacy. Students in school should have privacy rights that limit what other people can do and search because if not it causes discrimination, it causes issues with parents, and it is dangerous.
