The Sociological Perspective Or Imagination, Cite Its...
1 Define the sociological perspective or imagination, cite its components, and explain how they were
defined by C. Wright Mills. The sociological Taboo (or imagination) is defined as a way of thinking
that help us use external information and experience to form theories about the social pattern around
us. We collect data and from that information, we make judgments and predictions. These require
going beyond one s point of view. People s life and experiences are different. Therefore, it is important
to take into consideration their reasoning and thoughts to be able to understand why they act the way
they do. Hearing others stories and theories help us distant our self and creating a broader perspective.
The saying never criticizes someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes is the best way to
interpret sociological imagination. Its components include jobs, income, education, gender, race
ethnicity, and age. C. Wright Mills defined sociological perspective as the ability to think yourself
away from the familiar routines of everyday life and the vivid awareness of the relationship between
experience and the wider society. He explained the difference between personal and social issues. For
example, if a man is looking for employment and is not hired this will become a personal failure, but
at the moment, this same man stands at the unemployment line and realize he is part of a significant
percentage of unemployed people, these will become a public issue. A

Political Beginnings Essay
The early political beginnings of United States of America were quite rocky. During this time, politics
became an ever growing issue. People were concerned about their wellbeing and whether or not the
government was treating them fairly. This growing concern caused for groups of like minded people to
band together for a common cause and create political factions. These factions grew to be our present
day political parties. It was due to the ratification of the National Bank, The Whisky Rebellion, The
Alien and Sedition Acts, and Jay s Treaty that took place between the eras of Washington, Adams, and
Jefferson, that allowed for the Federalist and Democratic Republican parties to emerge and assert their
differences in early America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ratification of the National Bank widened the gap between Federalists and Republicans. Even
though Washington strictly stated that the United States must be a faction less nation, Parties
developed nonetheless. (Dawson, XIV)
The 1794 Whisky Rebellion proved to be a turning point in American politics. In 1794, due to civilian
anger towards a skyrocketing twenty five percent tax on whiskey, one hundred Pennsylvanian farmers
banded together to protest the tax. The protesters attacked a U.S. marshal that summoned sixty people
that failed to pay the tax to appear in court at Philadelphia. In response to this protest, Washington
proclaimed that citizens who resorted to violent forms of protest would face harsh federal authority.
Washington s attack against civilian misconduct showed that the federal government had the strength
to enforce its law. This reaction attracted supporters to the federalist cause. This assertion strengthened
the view of an aristocratic, elite, government and that the common people were unfit to be a part of the
government and that a select few should be in command. Washington s quickness to impose strong
federal power exemplifies the federalist ideals.
The 1800 s election of Jefferson marked the era of the Democratic Republican. Upon Election,
Jefferson demanded dramatic cutbacks to government expenditures, loosening the Judicial branch, a
strict interpretation of

Relationship Between Layoffs And Voluntary Turnover
Relationship between Layoffs and Voluntary Turnover As the world accelerates in advancements such
as technology, the society is now capable of reaching greater heights in efficiency more than ever. The
benefit of efficiency is not wasting any limited resources and time; however, it is not much so when
business owners attempt to become more efficient by laying off their employees. In the business field,
this strategy is called downsizing and it reduces the number of employees to operate the business more
efficiently or especially during a crisis when the economy is unstable and the business cannot afford to
maintain the current number of employees. As more and more businesses utilize downsizing, the
question is, what is the impact on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychological Spillover. This implies that a layoff experience gives a looser tie to the subsequent
employment, which means that an individual feels psychological contract violations and amplified
feelings of distrust, job insecurity, and he or she pays a greater attention to external job opportunities.
These are all factors that can potentially lead to voluntary turnover. A psychological contract is the
reciprocal exchange agreement between employee and employing organization, as perceived by the
worker. A new employee has this general schema ( a set of expectations) of a psychological contract
between him and his employer and when he is laid off, it negatively impacts the same general schema
and it transfers over to his subsequent employment. Accordingly, once he starts working at his new
job, he has lower expectations and feels less obligated to the employer leading to an increased
likelihood of voluntary turnover. It is a similar situation with the other factors. When an individual is
laid off and finds a new employment, he will start off with the corresponding trust and job security he
felt when he was laid off which was heavily brought down thus far, and he pays a greater attention to
external job opportunities because he does not trust nor feel a sturdy job security, therefore leading up

Who Is To Blame For Lincoln s Assassination
On April 14, 1865, one of the most devastating historic events took place. The war had just ended.
Lincoln wanted to get out of the White House to get a good laugh. Lincoln decided to see one of his
favorite plays, Our American Cousin. Arriving late, Lincoln was seated in the Presidential Box along
with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, Henry Rathbone, and Rathbone s fiancé, Clara Harris. (Holzer) At
exactly 10:15 p.m., Booth entered the private box, and shot his .44 caliber single shot derringer into
the back of President Lincoln s head. Rathbone tried to stop Booth, but he was stabbed by the assassin.

These people included David E. Harold, a former druggist who helped Booth escape to Virginia;
George Atzerodt, a carriage maker who planned the murder of Vice President Andrew Jackson; Lewis
Thornton Powell, a former Confederate soldier who attempted to murder Secretary of State Seward;
Samuel A. Mudd, a physician who set Booth s leg; Edward Spangler, a stagehand that helped Booth
escape; and Mary Eugenia Surratt, the owner of the home where the crimes were planned. These
conspirators were all convicted by a nine man military commission. The commission sentenced
Arnold, Mudd, and O Laughlin to life imprisonment and sentenced Spangler to six years in prison. O
Laughlin died of yellow fever in prison in 1867. Arnold, Mudd, and Spangler were all pardoned by
President Johnson in 1869. Mudd also saved many prisoners and guards during the yellow fever
epidemic. (Neely) The commission also sentence Herold, Powell, Atzerodt, and Surratt to death. They
were hung on July 7.
Mary Eugenia Surratt was the first women who was put to death by the federal government. Her son,
who was believed to also be involved with the plot, was tried in 1867. He was not released from
prison until June, 1868. The hanging of his mother has been considered as a gross miscarriage of
justice. Her prosecution never established that she knew anything about the plot and that she was not
even part of the assassination plans. (De Witt, Campbell,

Employee Holidays
Most employees, whether part time or full time are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave.
More annual leave may be agreed as part of an employee s contract. A week of leave should allow
workers to be away from work for a week i.e. it should be the same amount of time as the working
week. If a worker does a five day week, he or she is entitled to 28 days leave. If he or she does a three
day week, the entitlement is 16.8 days leave. If a worker s employment ends, he or she has a right to
be paid for the leave time due and not taken. Paid public holidays can be counted as part of the
statutory 5.6 weeks of holiday.
Rest Periods Rest Breaks, Daily rest and Weekly rest
An employee is entitled to an uninterrupted break of 20 minutes when their working time is more than
six hours. It should not be taken either at the start, or at the end, of a working day. An adult worker is
also entitled to one day off a week, this can be averaged over 2 weeks.
Working Hours
Employees cannot be forced to work more than a 48 hour week averaged out normally over a 17 week
period. There are some jobs were this rule does not apply and there are also jobs were these rules are
an absolute must. Employees can choose to opt out of this rule unless they are one of the listed

Status Quo, From High School Musical
When you first referred to this assignment, I immediately thought about the song called Status Quo
from High School Musical. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a teenager. The song
plays in the movie while Gabrielle s friends are telling her that if she dates Troy, the popular
basketball player, it will mess us the status quo. In a cute dance number they break out in song in the
cafeteria singing. From watching that movie, I already had an understanding of what I needed to
reflect on.
I am a very organized person. At the beginning of the semester, I read through the syllabus. I knew
that we would have a reflection paper on the course, so I have been preparing all semester to write this
paper. Every chapter I read and summary I completed, I would jot down concepts and ideas that stuck
with me. I took this class because it was a requirement for my ASL minor. I did not realize what I was
going to learn and I think that worked out well in the end.
In August, I was aware of Deaf culture. I knew the difference between little d and big D of deaf. I had
been exposed to certain aspects through my past professors like Danny Roush, who is a CODA. This
campus has a tight knit bond between the Deaf community and students. EKU has an extremely
credible ASLIE department. They have even took advantage of the Living Learning Communities and
have a Deaf floor in Walters Hall. I was exposed everything, but I was an outsider looking in.
When a person learns ASL, they are

Chemotherapy Benefits
Medical marijuana (cannabis oil) is today s hidden jewel for the treatment of side effects caused by
chemotherapy, which is commonly used as a main treatment for cancer patients. Research has shown
it can be effective in combating the side effects of chemo therapies used in various cancers. A common
side effect experienced while being subjected to chemotherapy is nausea and vomiting. In a study
published in The New England Journal of Medicine, Anecdotal accounts suggested that smoking
marihuana decreases the nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapeutic agents ( N
Engl J Med 293). Furthermore, loss of appetite is an additional side effect of chemotherapy generally

Unfortunately, chemotherapy does not come without a price. It has many ill side effects which can
make living undesirable. Notably, one of the main effects it has on the human body is nausea and
vomiting. Fortunately, in a study published by The New England Journal of Medicine, it was found
that smoking marijuana neutralizes the side effects of chemotherapy by inhibiting nausea and
vomiting which can lead to severe dehydration and weight loss. In a controlled, randomized, double
blind experiment, twenty participants were given oral delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol(a compound found
in marijuana). The results were astonishing, 14 of the 20 participants displayed no signs of nausea and
vomiting. This is illustrated in, Each patient was to serve as his own control to determine whether
tetrahydrocannabinol had an antiemetic effect. Twenty two patients entered the study, 20 of whom
were evaluable. For all patients an antiemetic effect was observed in 14 of 20 tetrahydrocannabinol
courses and in none of 22 placebo courses (293). That is a striking 80% success rate in the
neutralization of nausea and vomiting in the patients studied. Therefore, marijuana can be
advantageously used in conjunction with chemotherapy to neutralize its effects while improving
treatment results by diminishing weight loss. Nausea and vomiting can be an uncomfortable and
devastating side effect to

Diabetes Goal Setting
Goal setting is an important aspect of sustaining or making changes, both in regard to diabetes
management and most other aspects of life. While the act of goal setting is seemingly easy and often
taken on without a great deal of thought, a significant about of research exists on the topic. This paper
will evaluate a personal goal of mine. The intent is to delve into the topic of goal setting and look
beyond the surface at what influences the goals we set and how setting goals differently can improve
results. I find myself very fortunate for the opportunity to explore the topic of goal setting more, as I
have often grappled with the concept of professional goals. As a healthcare professional working in a

As our healthcare system continues to evolve and the concept of pay for performance becomes a
reality in many areas, I can t help but question how the concepts addressed by Grant Halvorson (2011)
may be applied to providers of diabetes care and education. In a pay for performance structure, HCPs
may either be reimbursed additional funds if outcomes exceed target goals, or funds may be reduced if
outcomes are less than target. This represents a significant change from the standard fee for service
structure in which most HCPs are accustomed (Leichter, 2006). In order for HCPs to thrive financially
in this changing environment, it would appear that HCPs and practice managers would both be well
served learning more about goal setting and feedback delivery mechanisms. The way goals are
structured and the way feedback is provided, may either help or hinder results (Halvorson, 2011).
From my personal experiences observing practices move towards this model, it appears that there is a
significant gap in understanding of how to best prepare and continue to motivate HCPs within the pay
for performance structure. While HCPs seem to understand the bigger picture performance goal, they
appear to lack understanding of the specific steps, or mastery goals, they can take to incrementally
improve their patient s outcomes. The question of how to best prepare and set HCPs up for success in
this new system remains largely unanswered. However, it would appear that more effective goal
setting would be

Women s Education During The Middle East
No area of Saudi society has been liable to a larger number of debates than the women and their role
in the advancement process. Besides, women rights and obligations issues have been similarly
controversial among both conservatives and progressives in Saudi society. Before tackling women
education movement in Saudi Arabia, it is important to go over some of the social and political
incidents that have shaped Saudi women position. In the previous 50 years the Middle East has faced
some real difficulties that have influenced all Middle Eastern countries and especially the Golf
countries. Saudi Arabia, as other Gulf countries has encountered some real social changes. Most
importantly, the discovery of oil in 1930s was a noteworthy event in the nation. The oil created
income in the mid 1970s presented substantial scale changes, including the opening of many schools
to both young men and women. The financial change emerging from the huge income from oil offered
ascend to a trend towards education abroad, and an adjustment in way of life, and these two changes
influenced the entire structure of society (Yamani, 1996). Oil and its subsequent wealth unimaginably
affected Saudi Arabia in a short period of time.
Saudi Arabia started oil s production in 1970 and the foundation of ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil

Was The Reconstruction A Success Or A Failure Essay
Discuss Whether Reconstruction Was a Success or a Failure. Reconstruction is the period of
rebuilding the south that succeeded the Civil War (1861 1865). This period of time is set by the
question now what? The Union won the war and most of the south was destroyed. Devastation,
buildings turned into crumbles and lost crops. The South was drowning in poverty. To worsen the
situation there were thousands of ex slaves that were set free by the Emancipation Proclamation and
the 13 Amendment. All these ex slaves , Dr. Susan Walens commented, and no place to put them, The

This was working alright until President Johnson, who had preceded Lincoln, order all the land under
federal control to be given back to whom they were taken from (Foner). This is a big setback for
reconstruction and freed slaves. The Freedmen Bureau was the federal institution in control of those
terrains given to blacks and now they had to take it back. Under the administration of O. O. Howard
the bureau functions were to establish schools, provide aide to the poor and aged, settle disputes
between whites and blacks and among freedpeople, and secure for former slave and white Unionist
equal treatment before court, (Foner 483). The Bureau did not have enough agents to put in action the
task appointed to it in the south. The Freedmen Bureau was dissolved after five years living the black
man on its own. Something that President Johnson did to start the period of Reconstruction was to
pardon all Confederates soldiers if they plead loyalty and alliance to the Union. No one was held
accountable for what happened, one man was murder. Also he demanded that the states in the south
abolish slavery and change their constitution in order to be accepted into the United States. Those
were Andrew Johnson terms for Reconstructions. Not very efficient because it leaves all these

The desire for love and the need for acceptance can create more than a feeling of rejection. In East of
Eden and The Kite Runner, many characters find the task of love daunting and insufficient to their
expectations. Love presents itself in every aspect of both novels and therefore is a major theme.
Whether it was love from family or lovers, both novels explore the idea of unrequited love and its
consequences on the characters lifelong journeys. The theme of love is a major underlying cause of
many problems within East of Eden for it creates a feeling of rejection by family and lovers. The idea
that love is blind becomes the center of revolution for the feelings between Adam Trask and his wife,

The Importance Of Pesticides In New Hampshire
Pesticides in New Hampshire Civics 1.04 Read an Article Madison Beaton New Hampshire is known
for having many farms spread out throughout the state, especially in Coos County. Because of this,
many bugs come to survive off of the crops that grow here. If bugs keep eating the plants, then the
quality of the crop will go down. It s not just bugs that come to live off the plants, it is also animals
like deer, bears, moose, and many more. All of these pests coming to steal and eat the plants can cause
the land to lose moisture and lower the quality as well. This has affected the farming community
greatly. It also affects stores and the people that shop there because the animals and bugs ruin a

Persuasive Essay On Breastfeeding
Women in this world have a right to bear children and take care of them. As a new parent, there are
millions of questions, worries, and decisions one deals with throughout the whole child s life. When a
child is first born, a mother has to decide whether or not to breastfeed or formula feed. The nutrition a
baby receives in the first months of life is what determines if the baby has a good or bad start. Women
should breastfeed their children because breastfeeding boosts chances of success for their child, allows
their baby to receive natural immunity from antibodies, mothers are less likely to develop diseases
such as cancers or diabetes, and breastfeeding stimulates oxytocin to promote bonding between
mother and child. Breastfeeding is the best choice for a baby.
The natural process of breastfeeding is the most beneficial for the baby and many studies have
concluded that breastfeeding boosts chances of success. In Brazil, a group of doctors took on a project
to see if there was a difference from a breastfed child and a formula fed one. These doctors randomly
picked out more than 3,000 babies and studied them from the time they were born until they turned
thirty years old (Breast Feeding). Once these babies reach thirty, they were given an IQ test that
concluded, the subjects who were breast fed for 12 months or more had a higher IQ than those who
were breast fed for less than one month. The difference in IQ was 3.76 points (Horta). Not only does

Gender Bias in the Media is happening right now all around us, woman are being treated differently

this issue. Robyn Urback is a Canadian journalist and political commentator based in Toronto, Ontario
recently gave a speech and received an interview regarding this issue. Robyn Urback discussed many
different problems about one of the biggest one that stands out to me was the sexual abuse and double
standards. She mentioned a few examples, one being how news media companies like Fox News
encouraged their woman to show their legs and wear short skirts, furthermore, to not sit in the middle
of the table since the stand would block the view of their legs. For many years, news reports indicated
the network didn t allow its female hosts to wear pants. Gabriel Sherman s biography of Ailes, The
Loudest Voice in the Room, said the founder and former chairman of Fox News once disapproved
when former host Catherine Crier appeared on TV wearing pants. The book states: Be more
opinionated, he told Crier in one meeting. The guests are there as a foil for you. He also disagreed
with her dress. He had admiration for her legs, a senior executive said. In one meeting, Ailes barked,

Wasteland Motherhood
Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on the
choice to acquire a child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or extremely
difficult to execute. Within this process, there are new issues and mindsets that emerge in the threshold
of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker
and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues and mindsets within these
two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts connect to one another by
demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of detachment, and improving
mindsets through the process of motherhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning Song

implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker of
Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to
the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the
speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts
the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees
the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an
opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails
to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable connection and positive feeling towards her new
born child. However, these feelings of detachment later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of
the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed in Waste

are to be neutral when read by the reader). The lead answers strictly the 5 Ws and how it doesn t

news article utilizes an inverted pyramid. The more important information is featured at the beginning
of the article (the amount of essential information decreases). For example: the writers discuss the
ruling of the South Carolina House of Representatives within the first paragraph of the article ( The
final vote in the State House of Representatives, 94 to 20, was well above the two thirds majority
required to move the bill to the desk... in Charleston. ) and decreases as one goes through the article.
The last paragraph does not tie back tie back into the lead (another feature for news article). It means
the world to us, Mr. Rutherford said, that we can move a symbol of division off of our front yard. has
no affiliation to the lead as the lead did not state the impact/feedback of what took place.

The Impact of Reduced Branding on Consumer Choice
According to Dr Jane Leighton and Dr Geoff Bird (2012) investigated three processes which were the
impact of reduced branding on consumer choice, the impact of increased non branded information on
consumer choice and the impact of copycat branding on consumer choice. Data was collected from 35
participants. To collect data for the processes methods like attention, look duration and recognition of
consumers were used. The first process which whether consumer choice is affected by the reduced
branding on the packaging resulted in positive as reducing branding could have a detrimental effect on
consumers attention and ability to recognize the brand. The result of the impact of increased non
branded information on the packaging showed that it will have a small effect on consumer s
recognition of brands. The final process which was the impact of copycat branding which is brands
that are perceptually similar to other established brands, has positive effect on the brand recognition.
According to Mohmmad Doostar and Maryam Kazemi (2012) researched the impact of brand equity
and purchase decision of final consumer. The researchers have used the model of brand equity
according to which brand equity has four dimensions perceived quality, brand loyalty, brand image
and brand awareness. The methods to gather information in this study used were library (specialized
texts) and field methods (questionnaires collected); the target population in this study was the buyers

Analysis Of The First Circumnavigators
Brent Sather Professor Halavais History 376 27 September 2017 Exploration of the World Throughout
Harry Kelsey s book, The First Circumnavigators , as well as, Roger Crowley s book Conquerors ,
they both explain many misfortunes and hazards that the Spanish and Portuguese explorers faced
during the various expeditions that set sail on. Many misfortunes that happened on the voyages
included bad weather, scarce food, individual faults, as well as attacks and invasions. One of the major
misfortunes that Harry Kelsey describes is the difficulty of the changing weather. For example,
Magellan accounts on his voyage that, On 6 April 1522, the Trinidad, after undergoing extensive

one of the biggest priorities. This was one of the biggest hazards that the crew had to deal with. On
Magellan s Voyage, The next day was Easter Sunday, and Magellan ordered everyone to go ashore and
attend Mass. After this he invited the officers to dine with him on the flagship. None of the
conspirators accepted the invitation. Instead, they waited until nightfall, then quietly boarded the San
Antonio and put Captain Mesquita in chains. The ship s master, Juan de Elorriaga, was fatally stabbed
when he tried to intervene. These individual actions by traitors on the ship created many unfortunate
situations between the crew members that could have been avoided. During another part of the
Magellan Voyage, it was stated that, Finally on 18 December, the vessels were ready to sail. The
Victoria left first, waiting outside the harbor. But a dragging anchor on the Trinidad opened a seam in
the hull, and water rushed in. Repairs were impossible without unloading the ship. This was an
individual action that could have been avoided. If the anchor was brought in before the boat was

Kathryn Mary
I ve written before about my younger sister, Kathryn Mary, who was born on September 13, 1972.
Within a couple of days of her birth, her doctors discovered that she had Down syndrome and a heart
defect that was going to eventually need to be corrected with open heart surgery.
Unfortunately, Kathryn never got to a point where she had enough strength and stamina to withstand a
surgery. She was so weak that she was never able to turn herself over or crawl on the floor. She gained
very little weight during the 13 months that she was with us. She died on October19, 1973.
Kathryn was with us for only one Christmas, and there is only one thing that I remember about that
day. My grandfather, Tom Williams, came over to our house and when he saw my mom holding
Kathryn, he said in a loud voice, She s the best Christmas present you could ever ask for. You should
wrap a red bow around her and forget about all the other presents.
Shortly after the birth of our little Christmas present, one of her doctors told my parents that children
who are born with Down syndrome have a great love of and appreciation for music. The doctor
encouraged my parents to play music for Kathryn as often as possible. My mom did what the doctor
told her to do and played soothing music as often as possible, especially when she was trying to calm
Kathryn down or put her to sleep.
Although it s been more than 40 years since Kathryn died and went to heaven, I still think of her when

The Boom in Robotic Population
Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in 2008 the world s robot
population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than the population of New Jersey (Guizzo,
Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of people do not realize how much they are surrounded by
robots already at the present time. Additionally from year to year number of these robots is growing as
technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will discuss drawbacks and
benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and positive impacts of robotics.
Research will begin by evaluating the economic factors of using robots. It will then proceed to
investigate the social factors and will analyze the judgments of society. Main body Economic factors
of using robots From the economic point of view using robots is not advantageous. Firstly in the
future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob Rawson, co founder of Staff.com, after
serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic controller, in 2034 the government will
mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by Artificial Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028
Google is going to produce perfect audio translator, indistinguishable from the best bi linguists. It
means that human translators and interpreters will lose their working places. Similarly as self driving
cars become main stream, there will be no need for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson, Rob). To conclude

Difference Between Punk And Pop Punk
American musician and singer songwriter of the Ramones, Jeffrey Ross Hyman, known to the public
as Joey Ramone, once said To me, punk is about being an individual and going against the grain and
standing up and saying This is who I am (BrainyQuote). Punk has been present in music since the
1960s, where it was starting to form in the garages of starting out musicians that did not have any
regulations to follow, simply because of the fact they didn t know the rules of music. Most of this
early punk music was unadulterated and often political, showing the thoughts and feelings of the
writer (Cooper). Meanwhile, about a decade later in the 1970s, a new style of punk was forming.
Combining elements of punk and mainstream music styles established a new genre of music,
commonly known today as pop punk (B.). While pop punk music branched off of punk, they both
have their distinct features of what makes them unique. Although the two genres share the same
artists, there is a distinct difference between the styles. Songwriter, actor, and singer and guitarist of
Green Day tweeted in late December of 2015, my mission for 2016? to destroy the phrase pop punk
forever [sic] (Armstrong). Armstrong, like many other punk band members, dislikes being referred to
as pop punk . This phrase can be considered insulting to specific artists that do not want to be known
for upbeat and preppy music. They want to be strictly known for more original music that does not fit

It is obvious that schools operations are largely based on political and economic reforms. Students are
encouraged to attend school in order to gain an education and as a result, to qualify in some form to

is equated with achieving well at school. Students are also exposed to a set curriculum content, which
often appears to be related to political movements at any given time. This formal curriculum allows
students to gain knowledge of how and why things are the way they are. The formal education that
students receive at school revolves around the content of the curriculum; however, there remains a
whole hidden curriculum of values and social orientations that students are constantly subject to

The Hidden Curriculum as it is known, operates more or less on the level of a mini society, making
students accustomed to the regulations, social values and norms of the broader society. As it is stated

Summary Of No Witchcraft For Sale By Doris Lessing
Accept Our Differences
(A Discussion on three messages from Doris Lessing No Witchcraft for Sale.) Doris Lessing was born
during the British Empire, and witnessed many of the injustices that were done upon the people of
Rhodesia. She grew up and felt it was a part of her duty to write about social injustices. Leftist,
fiercely independent, feminist, her characters, like Lessing herself, are social critics rebelling against
the cultural restrictions of their societies (Gale). She had a deep desire to influence others through her
literary works. She challenges the idea of race and women gender roles in most of her writings. She is
also known for mostly writing fiction literary works. In Doris Lessing s literary work No Witchcraft
for Sale she expresses three important messages about social issues during the Britain Empire. Doris
Lessing s first message demonstrated in No Witchcraft for Sale is standing by your culture. Culture is
an important aspect to all humans, no matter what race, or where you come from. Everyone
experiences culture values that they grew up with and teach to generations down the line. The idea of
culture has been around since the existence of the world. In the story, Gideon, the black man that the
white family, the Farquars, hired as a servant stood up for his culture in one of the most important
ways. In the story Gideon fixed Teddy s eyesight, the little boy, by using his special mixture of herbs
and spices. Later the Farquars bring a scientist to talk to Gideon to convince him to tell them his
secret. They even offered him money to give up which root it was that saved little Teddy s eyesight.
There was silence after the further explanation, and then Gideon remarked indifferently that he could
not remember the root (1334). Gideon was not comfortable giving up his secret for anything, not even
wealth. Gideon even felt a little betrayed by the Farquars for bringing the scientist to him. Nothing in
the world was going to make Gideon give up his cultural secrets. The cultural conflict lies because the
Europeans want more control, and power over the African Americans, and their cultures. The
Europeans want their way to win, because they want to have power over the other culture (Scola).

caused people to run for their lives in different directions. Fathers had come running from their
workplaces, only to stand in front of their empty houses with no indication of where their families had
gone. Mothers wept as they ran toward schools, rivers, and water taps to look for their children.
Children ran home to look for parents who were wandering the streets in search of them. And as the
gunfire intensified, people gave up looking for their loved ones and ran out of town (Beah 9). This

Prayer Is An Essential Discipline Of The Christian Faith
Introduction
Prayer is an essential discipline of the Christian faith. History and cultural differences show us that
many people engage in many different ways and techniques to pray and communicate with God. How
do you find the right way for you?
Summarise your original understanding of the discipline before the course started
Having been a Christian for many years I thought that I had a fair knowledge of what it meant to pray.
I was amazed and humbled by the idea that through Jesus restorative act on the cross I am able to
come into God s presence and not only come but be welcomed and even longed for. I believed that
prayer is a powerful tool to petition God , a vehicle to praise Him , and an instrument to increase our
intimacy with Him . I understood that people pray in a variety of ways, based on the teaching they
have received, their experience, and even their personality. Most commonly, I engaged in prayer as a
conversation with God.
A Significant Christian figure in history who has contributed to this discipline
A person who was significant in articulating and exploring conversational prayer with God was a
Spanish nun, St Teresa of Avila. She was a prominent teacher of prayer and became a reformer of her
Catholic order in the sixteenth century . She is quoted in her book The Way of Perfection as saying,

why Two Solitudes by Huge MacLennan should be read by every new Canadian.
On the surface, it may seem that Two Solitudes only focuses on the hardship between the French

Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships and mechanisms between T cell
regulation and type I diabetes by using NOD mice model. NOD mice can spontaneously develop a
form of autoimmune diabetes which is similar to human Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus. T cells
can destroy beta cells of the pancreatic islets which can produce insulin. Thus, by analyzing the

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases. There are different kinds of diabetes mellitus, but
an abnormal blood sugar level over an extended time always can be detected from patients who have
this disease. Type one diabetes mellitus also known as insulin dependent diabetes, patients with this
type of diabetes have pancreatic beta cells destruction causing absolute lack of insulin with a tendency
to ketoacidosis. It can occur at any age, but more commonly occurs in young people. Patients with
acute onset of metabolic disorders symptoms need insulin injections to survive. This type of diabetes
including immune mediated and idiopathic two subtypes. Immune mediated diabetes often has one or
more autoantibodies present, for example, islet cell antibodies (ICA), insulin autoantibodies (IAA) and

  • 2. The Sociological Perspective Or Imagination, Cite Its... 1 Define the sociological perspective or imagination, cite its components, and explain how they were defined by C. Wright Mills. The sociological Taboo (or imagination) is defined as a way of thinking that help us use external information and experience to form theories about the social pattern around us. We collect data and from that information, we make judgments and predictions. These require going beyond one s point of view. People s life and experiences are different. Therefore, it is important to take into consideration their reasoning and thoughts to be able to understand why they act the way they do. Hearing others stories and theories help us distant our self and creating a broader perspective. The saying never criticizes someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes is the best way to interpret sociological imagination. Its components include jobs, income, education, gender, race ethnicity, and age. C. Wright Mills defined sociological perspective as the ability to think yourself away from the familiar routines of everyday life and the vivid awareness of the relationship between experience and the wider society. He explained the difference between personal and social issues. For example, if a man is looking for employment and is not hired this will become a personal failure, but at the moment, this same man stands at the unemployment line and realize he is part of a significant percentage of unemployed people, these will become a public issue. • 3. Political Beginnings Essay The early political beginnings of United States of America were quite rocky. During this time, politics became an ever growing issue. People were concerned about their wellbeing and whether or not the government was treating them fairly. This growing concern caused for groups of like minded people to band together for a common cause and create political factions. These factions grew to be our present day political parties. It was due to the ratification of the National Bank, The Whisky Rebellion, The Alien and Sedition Acts, and Jay s Treaty that took place between the eras of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson, that allowed for the Federalist and Democratic Republican parties to emerge and assert their differences in early America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ratification of the National Bank widened the gap between Federalists and Republicans. Even though Washington strictly stated that the United States must be a faction less nation, Parties developed nonetheless. (Dawson, XIV) The 1794 Whisky Rebellion proved to be a turning point in American politics. In 1794, due to civilian anger towards a skyrocketing twenty five percent tax on whiskey, one hundred Pennsylvanian farmers banded together to protest the tax. The protesters attacked a U.S. marshal that summoned sixty people that failed to pay the tax to appear in court at Philadelphia. In response to this protest, Washington proclaimed that citizens who resorted to violent forms of protest would face harsh federal authority. Washington s attack against civilian misconduct showed that the federal government had the strength to enforce its law. This reaction attracted supporters to the federalist cause. This assertion strengthened the view of an aristocratic, elite, government and that the common people were unfit to be a part of the government and that a select few should be in command. Washington s quickness to impose strong federal power exemplifies the federalist ideals. The 1800 s election of Jefferson marked the era of the Democratic Republican. Upon Election, Jefferson demanded dramatic cutbacks to government expenditures, loosening the Judicial branch, a strict interpretation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Relationship Between Layoffs And Voluntary Turnover Relationship between Layoffs and Voluntary Turnover As the world accelerates in advancements such as technology, the society is now capable of reaching greater heights in efficiency more than ever. The benefit of efficiency is not wasting any limited resources and time; however, it is not much so when business owners attempt to become more efficient by laying off their employees. In the business field, this strategy is called downsizing and it reduces the number of employees to operate the business more efficiently or especially during a crisis when the economy is unstable and the business cannot afford to maintain the current number of employees. As more and more businesses utilize downsizing, the question is, what is the impact on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychological Spillover. This implies that a layoff experience gives a looser tie to the subsequent employment, which means that an individual feels psychological contract violations and amplified feelings of distrust, job insecurity, and he or she pays a greater attention to external job opportunities. These are all factors that can potentially lead to voluntary turnover. A psychological contract is the reciprocal exchange agreement between employee and employing organization, as perceived by the worker. A new employee has this general schema ( a set of expectations) of a psychological contract between him and his employer and when he is laid off, it negatively impacts the same general schema and it transfers over to his subsequent employment. Accordingly, once he starts working at his new job, he has lower expectations and feels less obligated to the employer leading to an increased likelihood of voluntary turnover. It is a similar situation with the other factors. When an individual is laid off and finds a new employment, he will start off with the corresponding trust and job security he felt when he was laid off which was heavily brought down thus far, and he pays a greater attention to external job opportunities because he does not trust nor feel a sturdy job security, therefore leading up to an ... • 5. Who Is To Blame For Lincoln s Assassination On April 14, 1865, one of the most devastating historic events took place. The war had just ended. Lincoln wanted to get out of the White House to get a good laugh. Lincoln decided to see one of his favorite plays, Our American Cousin. Arriving late, Lincoln was seated in the Presidential Box along with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, Henry Rathbone, and Rathbone s fiancé, Clara Harris. (Holzer) At exactly 10:15 p.m., Booth entered the private box, and shot his .44 caliber single shot derringer into the back of President Lincoln s head. These conspirators were all convicted by a nine man military commission. The commission sentenced Arnold, Mudd, and O Laughlin to life imprisonment and sentenced Spangler to six years in prison. O Laughlin died of yellow fever in prison in 1867. Arnold, Mudd, and Spangler were all pardoned by President Johnson in 1869. Mudd also saved many prisoners and guards during the yellow fever epidemic. (Neely) The commission also sentence Herold, Powell, Atzerodt, and Surratt to death. They were hung on July 7. Mary Eugenia Surratt was the first women who was put to death by the federal government. Her son, who was believed to also be involved with the plot, was tried in 1867. He was not released from prison until June, 1868. The hanging of his mother has been considered as a gross miscarriage of justice. Her prosecution never established that she knew anything about the plot and that she was not even part of the assassination plans. (De Witt, Campbell, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Status Quo, From High School Musical When you first referred to this assignment, I immediately thought about the song called Status Quo from High School Musical. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a teenager. The song plays in the movie while Gabrielle s friends are telling her that if she dates Troy, the popular basketball player, it will mess us the status quo. In a cute dance number they break out in song in the cafeteria singing. From watching that movie, I already had an understanding of what I needed to reflect on. I am a very organized person. At the beginning of the semester, I read through the syllabus. I knew that we would have a reflection paper on the course, so I have been preparing all semester to write this paper. Every chapter I read and summary I completed, I would jot down concepts and ideas that stuck with me. I took this class because it was a requirement for my ASL minor. I did not realize what I was going to learn and I think that worked out well in the end. In August, I was aware of Deaf culture. I knew the difference between little d and big D of deaf. I had been exposed to certain aspects through my past professors like Danny Roush, who is a CODA. This campus has a tight knit bond between the Deaf community and students. Chemotherapy Benefits Medical marijuana (cannabis oil) is today s hidden jewel for the treatment of side effects caused by chemotherapy, which is commonly used as a main treatment for cancer patients. Research has shown it can be effective in combating the side effects of chemo therapies used in various cancers. A common side effect experienced while being subjected to chemotherapy is nausea and vomiting. In a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, Anecdotal accounts suggested that smoking marihuana decreases the nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapeutic agents ( N Engl J Med 293). Unfortunately, chemotherapy does not come without a price. It has many ill side effects which can make living undesirable. Notably, one of the main effects it has on the human body is nausea and vomiting. Fortunately, in a study published by The New England Journal of Medicine, it was found that smoking marijuana neutralizes the side effects of chemotherapy by inhibiting nausea and vomiting which can lead to severe dehydration and weight loss. In a controlled, randomized, double blind experiment, twenty participants were given oral delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol(a compound found in marijuana). The results were astonishing, 14 of the 20 participants displayed no signs of nausea and vomiting. This is illustrated in, Each patient was to serve as his own control to determine whether tetrahydrocannabinol had an antiemetic effect. Twenty two patients entered the study, 20 of whom were evaluable. For all patients an antiemetic effect was observed in 14 of 20 tetrahydrocannabinol courses and in none of 22 placebo courses (293). That is a striking 80% success rate in the neutralization of nausea and vomiting in the patients studied. Therefore, marijuana can be advantageously used in conjunction with chemotherapy to neutralize its effects while improving treatment results by diminishing weight loss. As our healthcare system continues to evolve and the concept of pay for performance becomes a reality in many areas, I can t help but question how the concepts addressed by Grant Halvorson (2011) may be applied to providers of diabetes care and education. In a pay for performance structure, HCPs may either be reimbursed additional funds if outcomes exceed target goals, or funds may be reduced if outcomes are less than target. This represents a significant change from the standard fee for service structure in which most HCPs are accustomed (Leichter, 2006). In order for HCPs to thrive financially in this changing environment, it would appear that HCPs and practice managers would both be well served learning more about goal setting and feedback delivery mechanisms. The way goals are structured and the way feedback is provided, may either help or hinder results (Halvorson, 2011). From my personal experiences observing practices move towards this model, it appears that there is a significant gap in understanding of how to best prepare and continue to motivate HCPs within the pay for performance structure. While HCPs seem to understand the bigger picture performance goal, they appear to lack understanding of the specific steps, or mastery goals, they can take to incrementally improve their patient s outcomes. The question of how to best prepare and set HCPs up for success in this new system remains largely unanswered. However, it would appear that more effective goal setting would be ... • 16. Persuasive Essay On Breastfeeding Women in this world have a right to bear children and take care of them. As a new parent, there are millions of questions, worries, and decisions one deals with throughout the whole child s life. When a child is first born, a mother has to decide whether or not to breastfeed or formula feed. The nutrition a baby receives in the first months of life is what determines if the baby has a good or bad start. Women should breastfeed their children because breastfeeding boosts chances of success for their child, allows their baby to receive natural immunity from antibodies, mothers are less likely to develop diseases such as cancers or diabetes, and breastfeeding stimulates oxytocin to promote bonding between mother and child. Breastfeeding is the best choice for a baby. The natural process of breastfeeding is the most beneficial for the baby and many studies have concluded that breastfeeding boosts chances of success. In Brazil, a group of doctors took on a project to see if there was a difference from a breastfed child and a formula fed one. These doctors randomly picked out more than 3,000 babies and studied them from the time they were born until they turned thirty years old (Breast Feeding). Once these babies reach thirty, they were given an IQ test that concluded, the subjects who were breast fed for 12 months or more had a higher IQ than those who were breast fed for less than one month. The difference in IQ was 3.76 points (Horta). Not only does breastfeeding have an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Difference Between Punk And Pop Punk American musician and singer songwriter of the Ramones, Jeffrey Ross Hyman, known to the public as Joey Ramone, once said To me, punk is about being an individual and going against the grain and standing up and saying This is who I am (BrainyQuote). Punk has been present in music since the 1960s, where it was starting to form in the garages of starting out musicians that did not have any regulations to follow, simply because of the fact they didn t know the rules of music. Most of this early punk music was unadulterated and often political, showing the thoughts and feelings of the writer (Cooper). Meanwhile, about a decade later in the 1970s, a new style of punk was forming. Combining elements of punk and mainstream music styles established a new genre of music, commonly known today as pop punk (B.). While pop punk music branched off of punk, they both have their distinct features of what makes them unique. Although the two genres share the same artists, there is a distinct difference between the styles. Songwriter, actor, and singer and guitarist of Green Day tweeted in late December of 2015, my mission for 2016? to destroy the phrase pop punk forever [sic] (Armstrong). Armstrong, like many other punk band members, dislikes being referred to as pop punk . This phrase can be considered insulting to specific artists that do not want to be known for upbeat and preppy music. They want to be strictly known for more original music that does not fit certain criteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Summary Of No Witchcraft For Sale By Doris Lessing Accept Our Differences (A Discussion on three messages from Doris Lessing No Witchcraft for Sale.) Doris Lessing was born during the British Empire, and witnessed many of the injustices that were done upon the people of Rhodesia. She grew up and felt it was a part of her duty to write about social injustices. Leftist, fiercely independent, feminist, her characters, like Lessing herself, are social critics rebelling against the cultural restrictions of their societies (Gale). She had a deep desire to influence others through her literary works. She challenges the idea of race and women gender roles in most of her writings. She is also known for mostly writing fiction literary works. In Doris Lessing s literary work No Witchcraft for Sale she expresses three important messages about social issues during the Britain Empire. Doris Lessing s first message demonstrated in No Witchcraft for Sale is standing by your culture. Culture is an important aspect to all humans, no matter what race, or where you come from. Everyone experiences culture values that they grew up with and teach to generations down the line. The idea of culture has been around since the existence of the world. In the story, Gideon, the black man that the white family, the Farquars, hired as a servant stood up for his culture in one of the most important ways. In the story Gideon fixed Teddy s eyesight, the little boy, by using his special mixture of herbs and spices. Later the Farquars bring a scientist to talk to Gideon to convince him to tell them his secret. They even offered him money to give up which root it was that saved little Teddy s eyesight. There was silence after the further explanation, and then Gideon remarked indifferently that he could not remember the root (1334). Gideon was not comfortable giving up his secret for anything, not even wealth. Gideon even felt a little betrayed by the Farquars for bringing the scientist to him. Nothing in the world was going to make Gideon give up his cultural secrets. The cultural conflict lies because the Europeans want more control, and power over the African Americans, and their cultures. The Europeans want their way to win, because they want to have power over the other culture (Scola). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
