Living With Art By Tintoretto, Miracle Of The Renaissance
In chapter 4 of Living with Art it discusses the elements of art which are the following: line, shape,
mass, light, value, texture, pattern, color, and space. In the twentieth century two elements were added
to the list and they are time and motion. In the painting by Tintoretto, Miracle of the Slave (1548)
there are several elements of art that are at play. First off, is line. Line is presented a few times
throughout the painting including horizontal, vertical, and diagonal line. Horizontal line represents
relaxation and placidity, the figure on the ground in the front is a horizontal line because he is dead.
His body is in repose which is why he is represented as a horizontal line. Vertical lines represent
assertiveness, structure, and growth. Jesus coming down from the middle is vertical and he is defying
gravity by entering the painting from the top. Lastly for line, is diagonal lines. Most of the other
people throughout the painting are represented as diagonal lines, which represents action and
movement. Looking closely at the painting it seems to have a freeze frame look as though in the midst
of all the action someone took a photograph of the scene. The diagonal lines also direct our eyes
throughout the painting by the way the people are positioned, starting at the left those people are
leaning towards the man on the ground. Next to the man is a man standing with his arms raised
diagonally towards the far right figure, and his head is leaning towards Jesus which

Essay about Immigrants and Assimilation into American...
Immigrants and Assimilation into American Society
Several years ago, America was taught to be a melting pot, a place where immigrants of different
cultures or races form an integrated society, but now America is more of a salad bowl where instead of
forming an incorporated entity the people who make up the bowl are unwilling to unite as one.
America started as an immigrant nation and has continued to be so. People all over the world come to
America for several reasons. Most people come to America voluntarily, but very few come
unwillingly. For whatever reasons they may have for coming they all have to face exposure to
American society. When exposed to this new society they choose whether to assimilate or not.
Assimilation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is that children learn a language by imitating the sounds they hear (mimicry) without
an accent. This enables children to obtain a correct diction. Here a child has a positive experience and
is able to assimilate with ease. On the other hand, an elderly person will find the learning process a
challenge and to a certain extent the situation might even be so burdensome that one loses interest in
learning. In Amy Tan?s speech My Mother?s English, she explains the difficulties her mother faced
because she (Tan?s mother) was unable to clearly express herself. She (Tan) also felt the effects of this
as a child. Not only did Tan?s mother find speaking English a barrier in the process of assimilation,
but Tan herself felt her mother limited her perception (Tan 45). Since Tan?s mother was unable to
speak English properly people would not give her good service and would not treat her seriously even
to the extant that people ?pretended not to understand her or even acted as if they did not hear her,?
(Tan 45). This is just one example of many that shows how some people have had negative
experiences assimilating into American society.
Language is not the only factor affecting the assimilation of people into American society, but one?s
traditions also have an effect on the willingness and on the degree to which one assimilates. Some
people have found that certain customs they have are not accepted in American culture and might

Rap Hop And Hip Hop
Rap/Hip Hop is a huge part of today s music industry, with a more loyal fan base than any other genre
of music. Even though they have such a large following, there are still many that disapprove of how
the Rap game is conducted, and have no respect for the people who claim to be rappers.
Many people look at Hip Hop artists and think that they are all hard, gang banging, drug slanging
thugs from the hood. But in all reality most of the rappers in modern Hip Hop had never stepped foot
in the hood until after they finally built a little credibility by being a Hip Hop artist. Now, in today s
society it s acceptable for a person to front like they are something that they are not, but back when
Hip Hop had artists like Tupac Shakur, Mobb Deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, obviously there are still words in Hip Hop (except for Migos music), but there is no true meaning
behind them. Today all rappers talk about is getting high and drunk, driving fast cars and riding fast
women with large features. They also talk about how no one is real anymore while they re doing the
same thing they re dogging on (hypocrites). When they write their songs, the flow is choppy and
sounds like incoherent babble. Rap/Hip Hop back in the late 80s and throughout the 90s people were
talking about things they really did. They spoke of the struggle, they spoke on real issues and had their
own views, instead of misguided judgement to make it seem like they care. The lyrics were relatable
unlike in modern Rap. Not many people are going out and buying Bugatti s left and right while
sipping on Ciroc and counting stacks of Benjamins. But when you hear songs like First of the Month
by Bone Thugs N Harmony, you can sit there and think, Dang, I understand exactly where he s
coming from with this, this is because there are a lot of people who grew up on food stamps and
welfare checks. When that money comes it s time to celebrate like they say in the song. An example of
how trash lyrics are in modern Rap is Bobby Shmurda s Hot N****,
I swear to God, all I do is cash out; And if you ain t a hoe, get up out my trap house; I been selling
crack since like the 5th grade; Really never made no difference what the shit made; Jaja taught me flip

The Appeal of Holiday Brochures to Customers Essay
The Appeal of Holiday Brochures to Customers For this essay I shall discuss ways that holiday
brochures appeal to their customers. I will examine three brochures and compare them to each other.
The three brochures will all have different target audience, so as to show you what different
techniques are used to get a certain group of people to buy the holiday a company is selling.
The club 18 30 holiday brochure to Mallorca is very bright with colour. This could be to catch your

Using the fact that young people are a lot more care free than people with families are, Club 18 30
made no statistics, graphs and things such like are shown to demonstrate how hot or what the weather
is going to be like, like the Skytours holiday did, instead they used lots of bright colours which reflect
heat and summer, such as orange, red, blue and green. The other demonstration of heat is a picture,
which takes up half of the brochure. It shows two boys and girls messing around with each other (use
of connotation as the image is implying sex) with only their swimming clothes on, which is another
use of connotation as it implies that it is hot, they also all have tans. The two girls have put ice creams
on top of the boy s heads. The ice creams are trickling down the heads and chests of the two men,
which shows that it is hot. The position of the two ice creams makes it look like there are horns
coming out of their heads. Which implies that they are naughty devils which implies sex (more uses of
connotation)
WOB (white on black) is used in one of the boxes to give more emphasis about one of there extra
package deals. A different font is used to highlight sub headings to draw your attention to them. The
boxes used are plainly set out e.g. they are not tilted like the boxes in the skytours holiday are.

Dr. Moreau
In my third paper I would like to briefly talk about the historical and cultural context of the book, The
Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G.Wells. The book was written in 1896 as a science fiction novel, but let s
look at some of the aspects of the book and apply it to today s standards in the USA. As it turns out,
the book actually influenced the start of several animal rights groups in Europe shortly after its
release. Also, Wells had a firm belief that some of the things that happened in the book were entirely
possible and that maybe one day in the future we would see these exact experiments happen. Dr.
Moreau takes different animal species and transforms them into human like creatures. He even takes
different species and makes hybrids . A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first instances we see animal rights would be in the bible in the book of genesis where Adam is
given dominion over the fish, fowl, cattle and every creepy thing that creeps on earth and it is said that
on the seventh day of rest, the animals are supposed to rest also. Also in the bible it mentions
forbidding plowing with an ox and ass together because it would be difficult for the ass to keep up
with the powerful ox. In the 19th century we start to see more concern for animal protection whereas
before if someone was found guilty of hurting an animal it was because the animal was a piece of
property . We start to see badger baiting, bull baiting, and cock fighting start to be looked down upon
and the implementation of bans. The first ASPCA which was an animal protection group that was
founded by Henry Bergh in April 1866 would create the declaration of the rights of animals which
gave the ASPCA authority to enforce anti cruelty legislation. In the 1900 s although legislation was
passed for animal cruelty, the animals still didn t have any rights and we started to see an increase in
animal use which started to lead to more animal extinctions due to over farming. These laws came
after the book was written but I would think that this was another reason for Dr. Moreau to conduct

Synopsis Of A Weather Watcher Shines Bright Red Above...
KTTC s weather watcher shines bright red above Minneapolis/ Saint Paul s skyline. Warmer weather
is on its way. The mid afternoon news report confirms it. It is hot. Scorching hot. Temperatures were
already in the 90s and expected to climb. Tonight those lucky enough to afford air conditioning will
ramp it up and seek peace in cooler conditions.
Bud, a 70 year old veteran of the Marine Corps, isn t so lucky. He does not have air conditioning.
Instead, two strategically placed ceiling fans cool his 2nd story walk up. One creeks back and forth in
the dining room while the other whirs in his bedroom. They do little to stymie the heat, however,

Today and every day since a drunken driver t boned her vehicle in the middle of an intersection Molly
has issues getting to work. If she calls in sick today, she loses her job. It would be her 3rd lost job in 9
months. Losing yet another job, means that she and her husband would not be able to pay their rent.
Not being able to afford rent means tonight she and her husband will have another fight.
Though their experiences are vastly different, Bud and Molly are two very text book examples of
people living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). They are also two representative examples
of people who have the potential to come into contact with a police officer or another emergency
response team during a crisis. An officer or 1st responder may respond to a simple welfare check for
an elderly veteran, or the officer maybe called to intervene in a more complex case of situational
domestic violence.
While clinicians and therapists have made strides in mental health crises, little has been done to get
evidence base practices and techniques (EBP/ EBT) into the hands of those who need it the most those

Trader Joe s founder had a perception for his stores after vacationing in the Caribbean. He perceived
that the customers would try new things while on vacationing. Also realized that less is better. Many
time customers buy more when there is less to choose from in that store. Their attention is only
selective when there is not a big variety of supplies.

Attitudes not only effects job satisfaction and performance but also the relationship with customers.
Managers and employees should never express negativity around customers at any given time this
type of attitude can cause loss of sales. We tend to perform better when we can recognize and deal
with emotions in ourselves and others. When our emotional intelligence level is high we are able to
cope with all attitudes and behaviors at any given time. Success comes easier if I shall say when we
possess and can identify the four key competencies in being a leader. The four competencies are self
awareness, social awareness, self management, and relationship management. Managers must be in a
good mood even when they are not wanting to. The intense emotions positive or negative reaction
from the manager or employee can cause a certain behavior or mood.
Three leadership practices that Trader Joe s can implement to increase a competitive edge of the
organization are model the way, inspire a shared vision, and enable others to act. The leader should set
an example of the way the organization should be. The leader should set principles on how the
customers, employees, and leaders should be treated and how goals shall be reached within the
organization. Next the leader should inspire a shared vision. Leaders believe

The movie Norma Rae is about a young woman by the name of Norma Rae Webster, a factory worker

Paper Chromatography Lab
This experiment demonstrated the separation of pigments based on relative polarity and proved to be a
substantial way to separate compounds. The results were much like that of an experiment performed,
which separated carbohydrates in a very similar method with the use of paper chromatography
(Inome, Y., Yamamoto, A.). Proper pipetting technique, which is described by John Husler, was also
demonstrated in this experiment. The technique was followed as to prevent contamination and deliver
the right amount of solution each time (John Husler: 1983).
The use of paper chromatography to separate plant pigments from spinach leaves worked very well.
The pigments were separated into five distinguishable groups and were then placed in solution. As
past experiments have shown, the most polar pigments would stay near the bottom of the paper, and

absorbance slightly around six hundred sixty nanometers. The pigments had minimal absorbance
between the five hundred and six hundred sixty range. All of the pigments followed the expected

These are two of the worst aquatic invasive species in Minnesota, and are a huge problem in lakes like

My Career Of Pharmacy
As a child, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I always spouted out that I wanted to be a
doctor and help people. Now as an adult, those goals have shifted, but not very far from their origin. I
want to help people the way I witnessed my father doing as a firefighter growing up. I want to be a
role model to other children especially as a first generation person going to college. Educationally,
math and science were always listed under the favorite subject category on worksheets and surveys.
Professionally, I have always worked with the public and always thoroughly enjoyed doing so. I am an
outgoing, friendly person who enjoys talking to others and connecting with people daily. Overall, I
believe my personal, educational, and professional life have led me to my career goals of becoming a
Doctor of Pharmacy and helping people in a field in which I am passionate.
My father has always taught me that you help others in any way you can, no matter the sacrifice. He
also instilled in me to be grateful that I am fortunate enough to have the ability to help others. These
values were taught to him by his father who was a veteran of the Army and through his career as a
firefighter. I can never thank him enough for instilling these values in me as a child and helping to
shape me into the person I am today. These values are what led me to the decision to pursue pharmacy
and my ultimate goal of becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy. The field of pharmacy that interests me most

Question 1: Consumer Theory 1.1: In both the Marshallian and Hicksian consumer optimisation
problems, it is assumed that consumers are supposed to be rational. The main focus of these problems
are cost minimisation and utility maximisation, which play a huge part in consumer demand, but in
real life, these are not the only problems that are considered. Also, it is assumed that every consumer s
indifference curve for two goods would be the same they are very generalised models, and do not take
into account other factors. For example, not many consumers would spend their entire budget on said
goods one thing to consider would be a consumer s marginal propensity to consume and save. Though

As the insurer doesn t know which agents are high risk or low risk, the company will not offer
different types of full insurance to match risk types, as high risk agents will prefer contracts that are
designed for low risk agents. To solve this, the insurer will offer low risk agents less insurance this
ensures that high risk types do not have the incentive to choose a contract for low risk customers, as
they will want more insurance, because they know they will need to claim more. This ensures that the
insurance company maintains non negative profit, as high risk individuals cost more to insure.
However, these solutions carry agency costs, because the result is less efficient than if symmetric
information was present. I believe that risk neutrality of an insurance company is a sufficient condition
for insurance to take place. Insurance companies are risk neutral to maximise expected profits,
therefore as the principal, will design contracts to achieve this, as well as making certain that the agent
picks the desired effort (i.e to prevent a bad state of the world) for that contract, and to make sure that
the agent even picks the contract in the first place. Making sure incentives are compatible, and
ensuring participation by the correct risk types, are constraints on maximising expected profits. If an
insurance company was risk averse, without the availability of symmetric information, they cannot

Creative Writing In Avatar
Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing.
It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film
Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was Cameron s
comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won him numerous
Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced a film where I
would feel for the characters.
Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar to
when he took a long hiatus between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Good things come to those who wait. Unknown
Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug continued
all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I still write
fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages.
After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an expert
with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around, relief flooded
me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting. It was writing. Something that I was
familiar with, even if I had never written in that particular format before.
Okay, I might not have chosen the best story to adapt and it was my first time ever

The Importance of the Planet Earth´s Hydrologic Cycle
Hydrologic Cycle The hydrologic cycle is the reason our planet is able to sustain the life we have on
it. If it were not for this constant cycle of evaporation and condensation of the water from the ocean
and waterways to land and back again we would not be able to exist. Water is essential for life on
Earth and without it no life would exist such as on the moon. This will examine some of the ways this
cycle occurs and also look at a land formation from the eyes of the writer. The wonders of Devils
Tower in northeaster Wyoming has been admired by many over the years.
A Look at the Hydrological Cycle The Hydrologic cycle is an endless cycle where the water on our
planet Earth is moving from the ocean to the atmosphere to land and back again. I live in northern
California and there is a lot of water in my area. This cycle begins here at the Pacific Ocean where
evaporation of water starts its hydrologic cycle. Living about 50 miles from the ocean this area is
prone to fog that condenses over the land and is deposited on the ground and everything that is on the
land under it. This precipitation lends itself to helping the foliage around the bay have plenty of
moisture to help sustain its growth. Lutgens, Tarbuck, Tasa (2014) stated that winds transport this
moisture laden air, often great distances (p. 83). The water that is deposited on land will then take one
of two routes back to the ocean to start the cycle all over again. WW2010 (2014) stated that Some of

As shown in the Form 990 PF for the past 3 years, the foundation managed positive cash reserves as
its total liabilities and net assets/fund balances were positive. The foundation was in relatively good
financial position during the 3 years.
During the year of 2014, total net assets or fund balances reduced from 72 million to 17 million. A

Who Does Not Hold A Christian Worldview
Interviewing someone who does not hold a Christian worldview was very interesting. This
interviewee is not only a self proclaimed atheist, but holds a hostile opinion of Christians in general.
This interview was an opportunity to understand her position and potentially flush out (in an
unassuming way) some flaws in her belief system. One comment that leapt out at me was the belief
that basic instinct in humans and animals are the same, and that we can know right from wrong, and
good from bad, the entire question of ethics, purely by instinct. I disagree with this statement. On the
one hand, I believe instinct in humans is simply God s image within us, so if I were to say this about
people, that would be my meaning. However, in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, I asked who gets to decide that racism or hurting people is not okay? Some cultures see
hurting others as reasonable (look at honor killings) and is expected. What makes our culture right and
those other cultures wrong? Who decides what that standard is? The answer of trial and error ran itself
in circles, so I gently moved on. My intent was only to pose additional questions to provide continued
thinking after the interview ended. To summarize her perspective, the world does not have a creator,
but it has order. It began as a star and formed into a planet once it became part of the solar system, and
is a continued process of evolution. Living organisms from a different planet hitchhiked onto the earth
through a foreign object such as a meteorite and created life, eventually evolving into a species which
continues to evolve. The ability to think and reason is a direct result of the evolution process in
humans and animals, taking us from a primitive state to a high functioning species. This high level of
functioning is a combination of learned behaviours and basic instincts that sends signals to our brain
that communicates right from wrong based on our emotional or physical response, how it makes us
feel. Rules and laws have been set for people to follow based on these conclusions, which in turn
helps us control behaviours because we tend to follow rules and law. All life cycles on earth end in
personal extinction with nothing

Harry Potter Franchise
The Harry Potter franchise, books or movies, are classic in a variety of aspects. Whether it be from
Harry first learning about Hogwarts and his connection with Tom Riddle or actually killing Riddle
himself in the end. A little background of Harry himself, in general, is that he is like the Steph Curry
of Wizards, a protege to say the least. His parents were killed at a young age by Voldemort and he was
adopted in by Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. They are very abusive and favorable towards their
biological son in favor of Harry by an abusive margin. Harry s room was the size of a closet and he
wasn t allowed anywhere to go, receive mail and was very lonely. In short terms, Harry learns of his
ability, goes to Hogwarts and faces a variety of enemies and rival, Draco Malfoy. His ultimate enemy,
Voldemort, is ulitmately met at the end but in his time at Hogwarts, Harry makes great friends with
Hermione and Ron, eventually wedding Ron s sister, Ginny. They would go on to have three different
children, all named after the more influential characters on Harry in his time at Hogwarts. ... Show

Why Do Cats Make Better Pets Than Dogs
A pet cat costs less money to own than a dog. Cats do not eat as much as dogs. Cats are less expensive
than due to cats eating, less in general and are more likely to eat fish than corn or beef flavored
products (Benjamin, 8 Benefits of Being a Cat Owner). Because of the fact that cats eat smaller
portions they are cheaper pets to own. Unlike dogs, cats do not need extra training supplies. Cats do
not require leashes for cats can be trained to fetch a ball or walk on a leash, but these lessons are just
for fun. You do not need to train your cat to have a good pet (Em, Why Cats Make Better Pets than

Materialistic Values Associated With The American Dream
Please respond with at least five sentences for each.
What is the American Dream? How is it characteristic of American ideals and philosophy? What are
the differences between the materialistic and the idealistic values associated with the American
Dream?
The American Dream is the idea that everyone can have an equal opportunity to obtain success as long
as they are determined and work hard. It is characteristic of American ideals and philosophy because it
directly reflects with how U.S citizens feel a need for equality, freedom, liberty, and democracy.
Common materialistic values associated with the American Dream are the need for a nice house,
several cars, and money to spend. The idealistic values are that just by working hard anyone can
achieve anything. This isn t always true. Sometimes certain things are unattainable, depending on a
citizen s financial, physical, or emotional status. Though if the person is determined they can change
their status.

Murder Of Emmett Till Thesis
The Murder of Emmett Till is an incredible documentary about the harsh reality of life for African
Americans in the U.S. in the 1950 s. The documentary does an amazing job of shedding light onto this
terrible period of American history by showing it s audience a very graphic example of this time
period s prejudice against African America. The Murder of Emmett Till focuses on a case in 1955 in
which a 14 year old African American boy was ruthlessly murdered for supposedly flirting with a
white woman. The intention of this magnificent documentary are made fairly clear to its audience as

Many of the interviews included in the film are those of friends, family, and witnesses. The most
impacting of those interviews were those that included friends and family. The film reached out to Till
s mother and was able to interview and she really tied the documentary together, often she would
speak about her deceased son and how his death impacted her and the rest of the African American
community. Moses Wright who was there when Bryant kidnapped Emmet was also very impactful, he
tried to convince the kidnappers to give the boy a whipping, instead of doing the unthinkable, of
course, they didn t listen and took the boy. Many other friends and family of Till were interviewed as
well, many of which described Till and his personality. This allowed the audience to build an image of
Emmet Till, which also something many documentaries fail to do. An ordinary documentary would
give the audience cold hard facts about the case, The Murder of Emmet Till, however; builds upon
emotion by building up these people like an author would build a character. The film uses the
audience s emotions to emphasize the importance and tragedy of this event, the use of emotion also
encourages the audience to care more about what happened. Instead of relying on pure facts, which
often only appeal to only some people, they use emotion which appeals to all and they, of course,

a different story. These stories are often a part of a larger narrative based on their sexuality, gender,

Ecological Impact Of Fur Trade On American Culture
When the Europeans visitors started coming to North America they hoped to find vast amounts of gold
and silver, but they found something else, which proved to be just as valuable as furs. The ecological
impact of the fur trade on the Indians of the North America demonstrates that the Indians were not the
beneficiaries, but the victims in fur trade with all the other Europeans countries which affected them
socially, environmentally and economically. French and the English fisherman in 1500 s were the first
to purchase fur from the Indians, in exchange the Indians received European manufactured goods such
as knives, guns and steel blades, for example according to the text Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic,
Subarctic, and Northwest Coast. Ed said, That could be fitted to traditional adzes to cut more

Argumentatives Of The Treaty Of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was signed on 28 June 1919 exactly five years after the assassination of the
Duke Franz Ferdinand ,the trigger cause of the war. The Treaty consisted of 440 Articles setting out
the terms for Germany s punishment. It was one of the numerous treaties at the end of World War One.
The reason of this treaty was to reward the allied powers which fought against Germany or suffered
any of Germany s eager to win. Another reason why the treaty was created was to undermine and
incapacitate Germany so they could not cause another war. The people in charge of deciding this 440
articles were the allied powers. But the most important men of this group were ; Lloyd George,
Clemenceau and Woodrow Wilson called as the big three. But each of this men did not think in the
same way. There are 2 sides of what people think about the Treaty of Versailles. One side of the
argument is that the Treaty was extremely unfair to Germany, as it took away some of her most
valuable characteristics like its colonies and army. However, the other side of the argument is that
Germany caused a lot of damage, so she deserved to be punished and prevented from causing more

However, as the sales reps have focused on current customers over the last five years the sales team
has added only five new professional accounts. As well, in the areas outside DFW, 70% of sales are
derived from do it yourself painters. As well, the company could consider increasing their present
sales reps, eight, by an additional representative. At present, 70% of sales within DFW are derived
from professional painters. However, the benefit of cutting the prices would not increase company
sales to a point where they could maintain current contribution margin numbers. Given that the mass
merchandisers are presently not pursuing this market source, the Jones Blair Company would do well
to draw upon their superior salesmen and initiate sales from this resource. Thus resulting only in
approximately a 3% increase in customer purchases, from 15% to 18%. A posed increase of
approximately 3% in the DFW area would increase the company tms brand awareness by 5%, from

Ritual and Vows of Christian Marrage and Their Influence on the Differing Ways that Couples

s a way of bringing up children in a secure and loving home, a way to control and direct the sex

The exchange of rings follows the exchange of vows. The vows used in the Christian marriage reflect
the idea of a long lasting and un selfish relationship. A vow that is used in most Christian marriage
ceremonies is:
I take you to be my husband / wife,
To have and to hold
From this day forward,
For better, for worse,
For richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health,
To love and to cherish
Till death us do part,
According to God s Holy law.
And to this I pledge myself.
This vow shows how you should look after your partner whatever the circumstances, i.e. if he/she is
ill. Both partners make this promise so it is a shared responsibility. After this promise has been said,
the ring is placed on the third finger of the woman s hand and the man and the women both say
separately:
With this ring I thee wed;
With my body I thee honour and all my worldly goods with
Thee I share
In the name of the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit.
This vow gives the idea of a deep form of sharing between the couple and how all their possessions
are now shared. The prayer of the faithful follows which may also include personal prayer by the
couple. The mass concludes with the Lord s prayer and a Blessing. There may also be a candlelight
blessing. In the Catholic tradition the candle flame is a symbol of Christ, the light of

The Willpower Instinct By Kelly Mcgonigal
In our daily lives we encounter temptations and regardless of resisting or falling for them is due to the
amount of willpower you posses. In the book The willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigal,
demonstrates how stress can affect our daily lives by causing us to act irrationally by listening to our
temptations however through, her teaching of self control, motivation, and the beneficial aspect of
controlling your willpower can lead to a successful and healthy human being. Facing these
temptations can be difficult when dealt with, but through the willpower experiments the cause and
effects of temptations can be learned from. One willpower challenge I currently have is my poor habit
of spending money due to the temptations that occurs when I m mostly with my social peers, but
through gaining self control, a better sense of self awareness, and motivation progresses me through
this challenge.
McGonigal demonstrated how we are heavily influenced by our social peers and how our temptations
can be effected by each other. She stated Self control is influenced by social proof, making both
willpower and temptation contagious (McGonigal 208). Being surrounded by my social peers who
constantly spend on food and fun activities, it causes me to be more susceptible to these temptations.

Abstract
In this paper I am going to identify some the legal and ethical issues in My Sister s Keeper. Some of
those issues include emancipation of a minor, genetic engineering, and limited termination of parental
rights. I will be giving my opinion on these matters also.
My Sister s Keeper is about a family who conceives a child strictly for the use as bone marrow donor
for her gravely ill older sister. Kate is diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia at the age of

She left her morals at home on the kitchen table that day and kept leaving them behind. In this movie,
it seemed that the mother is putting one child s quality of life over the other children. Jesse is being
neglected because he has a selfish mother. He is just a shadow that sulks and creeps throughout the
house and the city. As parents how they can they do that. I know that when you are dealing with a
seriously ill family member, some things do get neglected or put on the back burner. But that thing
should not be your child. Sara and Brian did not even realize that Jesse was suffering with dyslexia.
Anna and Kate have came up with a bunch of reasons as to why Anna wants to be emancipated. At the
age of eleven, Anna and her older brother, Jesse, go hire a lawyer to sue their parents for the rights to
Anna s body. The lawyer takes the case because he knows what it is like to live a life where you have
no control of your body. The lawyer suffers from epilepsy. Anna wants to become a medically
emancipated minor. The courts had never heard of such a case and there is no such term as medically
emancipated, legally defined. With Anna becoming medically emancipated, it means that Sara and
Brian s parental rights have been terminated within limits. They still had to provide shelter, food,
clothing, and other basics, but they could not tell her what to do medically. In my opinion, an eleven

rest of your wall.
How to repair vinyl covered wallboard
Repairing vinyl covered wallboard is a little trickier than repairing drywall. For major fixes, we
recommend calling in an expert to fix your wall. Smaller repairs can be fixed similar to repairing
regular drywall, however, you must prepare the wall differently.
To prepare your vinyl walls prior to repair, wash the entire surface with a cleaner containing trisodium
phosphate. This will remove stains and grime so that the new paint or covering will stick better to the
surface and without stains .
How to paint manufactured home walls
Adding a new coat of paint to your walls is a great way to update your manufactured home interior.
One way to keep your home updated with style is to keep up with current paint trends. Like any walls,
you can use paint and primer in one or separate the products.
Follow these steps to paint your walls:
Clean your walls according to whether they are drywall or vinyl covered wallboard as stated above.
Fix any cracks, nail pops or other repairs according the repair guidelines for each type of wall.
Cover floors and furniture with drops cloths so that you don t drop paint anywhere you may not want
it.
Apply painters tape to cover your trim, ceiling and flooring so that your paint is crisp cut along the
edges of the wall.

The Representation Of Gender And Media
Nowadays the representation of gender in media has become very common. It is all about the
representation of phenomenally rapid change: change s in gender relation transformations in media
technologies, regulatory frameworks, content ownership and theoretical revolutions in the approaches
used to make sense of gender representations. Gender and media aims to freeze the frame, press the
pause button, or hit the refresh key to construct that how media shows social stereotypes. There are
many advertisements which influences people, the one such advertisement is of Van Heusen brand
advertising for men s wear tie. These advertisement clearly reflects gender inequality.
Since then, of course, the role of women in society and representation in advertising has come a long
way. The feminist movement in the 70s helped to break down barriers for women, leading to improved
career opportunities and more equality in the workplace and the home. We can see in the picture how a
girl is lying down near a shoe, and at the very top of it a message is written in bold whit letters keep
her where she belongs. This shows that how they have compared a woman with a shoe and the women
is without the clothes on her body which shows gender biased advertisement. These seems that they

Visual Effects On Free Throw Shooting Essay
Visual Effects on Free Throw Shooting What is the easiest way to earn points in a basketball game?
Free shots, also known as free throws, are given to a player after being fouled. What do shooters focus
on to score the given shots? They rely on what they can see. What if the net was removed? Would the
player s free throw accuracy increase or decrease? Visual targets, can have a tremendous effect on one
s shot. According to McCann, A. (2012), basketball players looking to make a shot would focus on the
net or even the hooks that hold the net to the rim. The human body is a servant to touch, taste, smell,
hearing, and sight. Reactions to the five senses cause chain reactions that generate a person s brain to
release chemicals that produce responses. Sight enables a shooter to be aware of his or her distance to
the basket. The sense of touch allows a shooter to realize the proximity of the basketball to his or her
body. In the sport of basketball, when someone thinks of a perfect shot, it is normally a three point
shot that hits nothing but net. What if there was no net on the rim? There would be no satisfaction of
hearing the swish of the net after successfully knocking down the field goal attempt. The net is not
only a symbol to accumulate the shot being made but also a target for several shooters. When the net
is gone, it gives the basketball goal and the rim a different appearance that, most of the time, throws
off shooters attempting to complete a

change their mind about stress, they can change their body response to stress to make them healthier.
As the presentation gets further along, Kelly McGonigal states how oxytocin plays a huge role in
controlling stress. This neuro hormone, which is released during stress, motivates you to seek support,
which is the reason why stress makes you social. At the same time, oxytocin acts ... Show more

If a large majority of individuals view stress as their enemy, this can severely take a toll on their health
throughout their lifetime, and even cause their life to be shortened prematurely. As the lecture
illustrates, 43 percent of people who believe stress as harmful had an increased risk of dying. An
obstacle or barrier that might hinder this improvement would be human nature, because it s easy for
human to get stressed and be clouded with thoughts to be able to solve the issue of handling stress. On
the other hand, to solve the obstacles the society needs to be educated on how to make stress their
friend. Also, introducing mechanism within their life to reduce stress, and urge others to see stress as a

My Childhood At The Alemany Farmer s Market
It has been years since I have gone to the Alemany Farmer s Market and walked down the wet
concrete to look for fresh vegetables and fruits. As a four year old, I would wake up at exactly half
past five every Saturday morning to get dressed in my warm jacket and make it to the farmer s market
by six. I would hold my mom s hand and walk down the same exact wet concrete sidewalk, playing
games with the ground, trying not to step on the cracks to keep myself busy. My mom would make
small talk with the vendors, asking about their lives and how they were doing. She always got the best
groceries, the ones hidden from the public. My favorite vendor was always at the very end of the
market where we would get our flowers. Every Saturday I would run up to her booth with smile and
the old Japanese lady would smile back and hand me a flower. The colorful murals and the smell of
the greens and flowers brings back the fond memories of my childhood at the Alemany farmer s
market as I walk down the wet concrete as a high school senior with a different mission in mind. Even
though it is a little later in the morning and the market seems to be bustling with more people than I
remembered, the familiar San Francisco fog and encouragement of my mother makes me feel like I
had never stopped my Saturday tradition. Little green tents are set up at the entrance and beyond them
are the separate booths and some more white tents. They have canvas tarp signs hanging at the top of
the tents with the

Introduction
The purpose of this recommendation report is to recommend the best practice for voter identification
and consistent voting laws in the United States. The audience for this report includes United States
citizens, US Congress, those aspiring to become US Citizens. Based on my research, I recommend
that the officials of this country come together to create equal and strict voting laws to ensure the
integrity of Presidential Elections.
Background
Throughout US History, voting laws and methods has evolved tremendously. Laws governing the US
elections date back to Article 1 of the Constitution, which gave the states the responsibility of
overseeing federal elections. In order to win the presidency, as it is today, the candidate needs a
majority of 270 electoral votes out of a possible 538 (Staff). You may be asking yourself why the US
determines who wins the Presidential election based off of electoral votes rather than the winner of the
overall popular vote. The reason being, our Founders rejected a direct vote for president; they needed

  • 2. Living With Art By Tintoretto, Miracle Of The Renaissance In chapter 4 of Living with Art it discusses the elements of art which are the following: line, shape, mass, light, value, texture, pattern, color, and space. In the twentieth century two elements were added to the list and they are time and motion. In the painting by Tintoretto, Miracle of the Slave (1548) there are several elements of art that are at play. First off, is line. Line is presented a few times throughout the painting including horizontal, vertical, and diagonal line. Horizontal line represents relaxation and placidity, the figure on the ground in the front is a horizontal line because he is dead. His body is in repose which is why he is represented as a horizontal line. Vertical lines represent assertiveness, structure, and growth. Jesus coming down from the middle is vertical and he is defying gravity by entering the painting from the top. Lastly for line, is diagonal lines. Most of the other people throughout the painting are represented as diagonal lines, which represents action and movement. Looking closely at the painting it seems to have a freeze frame look as though in the midst of all the action someone took a photograph of the scene. The diagonal lines also direct our eyes throughout the painting by the way the people are positioned, starting at the left those people are leaning towards the man on the ground. Next to the man is a man standing with his arms raised diagonally towards the far right figure, and his head is leaning towards Jesus which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Immigrants and Assimilation into American... Immigrants and Assimilation into American Society Several years ago, America was taught to be a melting pot, a place where immigrants of different cultures or races form an integrated society, but now America is more of a salad bowl where instead of forming an incorporated entity the people who make up the bowl are unwilling to unite as one. America started as an immigrant nation and has continued to be so. People all over the world come to America for several reasons. Most people come to America voluntarily, but very few come unwillingly. For whatever reasons they may have for coming they all have to face exposure to American society. When exposed to this new society they choose whether to assimilate or not. Assimilation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason is that children learn a language by imitating the sounds they hear (mimicry) without an accent. This enables children to obtain a correct diction. Here a child has a positive experience and is able to assimilate with ease. On the other hand, an elderly person will find the learning process a challenge and to a certain extent the situation might even be so burdensome that one loses interest in learning. In Amy Tan?s speech My Mother?s English, she explains the difficulties her mother faced because she (Tan?s mother) was unable to clearly express herself. She (Tan) also felt the effects of this as a child. Not only did Tan?s mother find speaking English a barrier in the process of assimilation, but Tan herself felt her mother limited her perception (Tan 45). Since Tan?s mother was unable to speak English properly people would not give her good service and would not treat her seriously even to the extant that people ?pretended not to understand her or even acted as if they did not hear her,? (Tan 45). This is just one example of many that shows how some people have had negative experiences assimilating into American society. Language is not the only factor affecting the assimilation of people into American society, but one?s traditions also have an effect on the willingness and on the degree to which one assimilates. Some people have found that certain customs they have are not accepted in American culture and might ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though they have such a large following, there are still many that disapprove of how the Rap game is conducted, and have no respect for the people who claim to be rappers. Many people look at Hip Hop artists and think that they are all hard, gang banging, drug slanging thugs from the hood. But in all reality most of the rappers in modern Hip Hop had never stepped foot in the hood until after they finally built a little credibility by being a Hip Hop artist. Rap/Hip Hop back in the late 80s and throughout the 90s people were talking about things they really did. They spoke of the struggle, they spoke on real issues and had their own views, instead of misguided judgement to make it seem like they care. The lyrics were relatable unlike in modern Rap. Not many people are going out and buying Bugatti s left and right while sipping on Ciroc and counting stacks of Benjamins. The book was written in 1896 as a science fiction novel, but let s look at some of the aspects of the book and apply it to today s standards in the USA. As it turns out, the book actually influenced the start of several animal rights groups in Europe shortly after its release. We start to see badger baiting, bull baiting, and cock fighting start to be looked down upon and the implementation of bans. The first ASPCA which was an animal protection group that was founded by Henry Bergh in April 1866 would create the declaration of the rights of animals which gave the ASPCA authority to enforce anti cruelty legislation. To solve this, the insurer will offer low risk agents less insurance this ensures that high risk types do not have the incentive to choose a contract for low risk customers, as they will want more insurance, because they know they will need to claim more. This ensures that the insurance company maintains non negative profit, as high risk individuals cost more to insure. If it were not for this constant cycle of evaporation and condensation of the water from the ocean and waterways to land and back again we would not be able to exist. Water is essential for life on Earth and without it no life would exist such as on the moon. This will examine some of the ways this cycle occurs and also look at a land formation from the eyes of the writer. The wonders of Devils Tower in northeaster Wyoming has been admired by many over the years. A Look at the Hydrological Cycle The Hydrologic cycle is an endless cycle where the water on our planet Earth is moving from the ocean to the atmosphere to land and back again. I live in northern California and there is a lot of water in my area. This cycle begins here at the Pacific Ocean where evaporation of water starts its hydrologic cycle. Living about 50 miles from the ocean this area is prone to fog that condenses over the land and is deposited on the ground and everything that is on the land under it. This precipitation lends itself to helping the foliage around the bay have plenty of moisture to help sustain its growth. Lutgens, Tarbuck, Tasa (2014) stated that winds transport this moisture laden air, often great distances (p. 83). The answer of trial and error ran itself in circles, so I gently moved on. My intent was only to pose additional questions to provide continued thinking after the interview ended. To summarize her perspective, the world does not have a creator, but it has order. It began as a star and formed into a planet once it became part of the solar system, and is a continued process of evolution. Living organisms from a different planet hitchhiked onto the earth through a foreign object such as a meteorite and created life, eventually evolving into a species which continues to evolve. The ability to think and reason is a direct result of the evolution process in humans and animals, taking us from a primitive state to a high functioning species. This high level of functioning is a combination of learned behaviours and basic instincts that sends signals to our brain that communicates right from wrong based on our emotional or physical response, how it makes us feel.
