Analysis Of This Boy s Life
Tabula rasa. A phrase originating from Latin that is translated to clean slate. John Locke, a
philosopher, coined this term to coincide with his theory that each human is born without any pre
existing traits or views of the world. To those who share Locke s conception, one could understand
how easily Tobias Wolff conformed to the negative impacts he had grown up with. He is the
equivalent of an unwritten book with the potential for success and academic achievement but tainted
with abandonment and neglect. The antagonists Roy, Dwight, and even his own mother are the sources
of false power and manhood he obtained which has an influence on his actions. Even with all of these
influences, the young and naive Jack (a name Tobias Wolff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To put more emphasis on the quote, he is currently living in an unloving environment with Dwight
which references to his suggestion that he is on [his] own in this new place. Because he lived in a state
of financial issues, he understands why his mom can t see him but like any child who wants someone
to care and love for them, they are still frustrated that they will be missing crucial relationship
developments which were seen in I understood, but understanding not make me miss her less. (99).
Another reason that leads to his actions, which is also the reason he wanted to strip the importance of
his receival of the name Tobias and call himself Jack instead, is his father who blatantly abandoned
him and his mother for a luxurious life. Wolff s father, in summary, was a man who married a
millionaire and moved to Paris with Jack s older brother, Geoffrey, because he had a promising future.
As wealthy as he was, the cowardly man refuses to pay his legal pittance. Jack witnesses the effects of
the lack of financial support on his mother. This anger leads him to confidently say We were barely
making it, and making it in spite of him. My shedding the name he d given me would put him in mind
of that fact. (9) The relieved diction seen with the term shedding can only allow readers to infer that
removing his assigned name was a way to disassociate his burden of a father to him and his mom.

Abortion, An Act Of Killing
Abortion has been a topic of ethics for as long as time can remember. Abortion is a difficult and
controversial moral issue that most have dealt with or heard about. Most would argue that no one has
the right to demand large sacrifices from another simply to sustain their own lives, while others see
abortion as an act of killing, which is clearly wrong. Both sides have important moral insights, even if
ultimately these insights are outweighed by the insights of the other side. Each and every person has
their own viewpoint that is biased simply because of their religion or how they were raised. Opinions
are passed on generation to generation and each generation with a more developed educated view
attempts to change these views. The goal of this ethical argument is not to convince to accept one
position or the other, but to help to understand both sides.
Without knowledge of both sides, the argument continues. Beware of the labels Pro life and Pro
choice. They imply that the other side is against life or against choice. They ignore the nuances in a
person s position. There are two principal moral considerations. People consider the moral status of
the fetus and on the other hand the rights of the pregnant woman. There are distinctions to whether it
is immorally wrong or if it should be illegal. These are distinct issues. Not everything that is immoral
is necessarily illegal. We may, for example, want to say that being unfaithful in one s marriage is
immoral, but we

I Have Made Decisions After Decisions
I have made decisions after decisions that will lead me to success in 5 years. By allowing myself to
focus on my future wasn t as hard as I thought. Your present is as important as your future because we
all want to accomplish and experience each moment in our lives, but we need to realize everything we
go through in our life time leads to a purpose in the future. Although I m not satisfied with the
decisions I have been making, in five years, I will have a better health; better attitude toured myself,
better education, and being more independent. Although I have been running for most of my life; it
has made me feel accomplished and willing to realize how great my future lifestyle will be. I will be
ready for the next obstacle course that will be heading my way in my future. Running each day has
changed my life extremely. Running is a good stress reliever. I have found it has been very difficult to
combine school and work together. It is very important to be focused on school and work combined. I
have noticed how difficult it has been to just sitting down and work on homework because I recently
have been in a moment in my life where it seemed like I wasn t able to focus on my school work. I
tried to work with my teachers one on one to try to work to increase my grade, but it seemed like
putting in the effort for the assignment wasn t even worth it. I have been stressed out so much that I
almost thought about giving up on this semester. I haven t really ever given up on

Coronary Collateral Circulation And Humans Are Often More...
Studies looking at coronary collateral circulation in humans are typically more controversial. Skeptics
have stated that collateral development is probably due to the progression of coronary artery disease
rather than an effect of exercise training. In addition, direct measurement of collateral growth,
typically through coronary angiographic techniques, is difficult and may have severe limitations due
to low levels of resolution of vessels (Heaps et al., 2011). Small vessels involved in the coronary
collateral system ( 100μm) are incredibly difficult to view angiographically, so the full magnitude of
collateralization may not be assessed or may be drastically underestimated (Heaps et al., 2011;
Belardinelli et al., 1998).
An additional approach that studies have used to measure collateral circulation development is to
measure the rate pressure product in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Increases in rate
pressure product at the beginning of myocardial ischemia have been found and is potentially related to
increased myocardial oxygen supply from collateral growth stimulation (Senti et al., 1998). After
exercise training, coronary patients have also seen a 29% increase in coronary flow reserve in
response to adenosine (Hambrecht et al., 1993). Patients with chronic CAD and impaired LV systolic
function who exercised at 60% of peak oxygen uptake 3 times a week for 8 weeks saw a significant
increase in mean collateral circulation score and improvements in wall

The Book Thief Quotes
1. Brother s Funeral
When it came down to it, one of the called the shots. The other did what he was told. The question is,
what if the other is a lot more than one. (Zusack 18)
Occuring her brother s funeral, main character Liesel Meminger is stuck pondering in thought. This
quote hints at the main point of the story referencing basically nazi reign. Following her brother s
funeral, Liesel stumbles upon a book that one of the gravediggers had dropped and Liesel proceeds to
pick it up. This is the first book she steals. This is Liesel first noted instance of her grief.

experiences their first air raid. They have to leave behind Max. As the air raid progresses Liesel fears
losing Max, and begins to read out loud in the shelter. Liesel fears losing yet another close family
member.
8. Hans Compassion
Liesel witnesses Hans trying to give bread to a Jew. Not only does Hans and the Jew get whipped but
now the Nazi s become suspicious of Hans and search his house. Max is no longer safe in the
basement and must leave. Liesel now has another loved one taken away from her.
9. Bye bye Hans
Hans gets drafted into the army and once again Liesel must lose another lover person taken away from
her. Liesel is in search for words. The dictionary represents her lost for words. She is searching for
something to express her pain.
10. The Last Human Stranger
Liesel steals her last book from the mayor s wife. The title book, The Last Human Stranger, is a clear
representation of Liesel as a character after all that has happened. Liesel view of the world is bleak

Excessive release of this chemical leads to sleeplessness that affects normal human cycle. This
contributes immensely to regular and sustained burnouts due to sleep deprivation (Seib, Whiteside,
Humphrey, Lee, Thomas, Chopin, ... Anderson, 2014). Additionally, catecholamines affect the frontal
region of the brain, which is instrumental in short term and long term memories (King, Lloyd Holewa,
2008). This leads to poor memory and retention capacity. Acute stress tends to have a long term
mental health impact that affects multiple regions.
The second response mechanism towards stress is by the heart, circulatory system and the lungs (Seib
et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). Uncontrolled release of metabolic signals leads to poor digestion and
absorption of bear. As the concentration of bear increases, the heart beat increases to try and distribute
the concentration of bear to other parts of the body, which leads to an increase in blood pressure (Seib
et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). To country oxygen demand, the breathing system suddenly increases as the
lungs take in as much oxygen as they possibly can to satisfy its shortage in the blood stream (Wells,
2013). On the other hand, the spleen increases discharge of white and red blood cells to ensure that
more blood cells are available to transport excess oxygen throughout the circulatory system. Research

A Brief History Of Pole Vault
Background
A Brief History of Pole Vault Pole vaulting has been around since the time of the ancient Greeks.
Poles were made of solid wood and used to vault over obstacles such as marshes, trenches and even
walls. [1] It wasn t until around 1850 that a running form of pole vault competition emerged from
Germany. The United States saw pole vaulting just before the beginning of the 20th century. Women s
pole vault began in the olympics around the year 2000. [2] Now, poles are made of fiberglass or
carbon fiber materials which allow for a greater bend than wood or metal. [3] The better materials also
allow for what vaulters call a fling off the top of the pole which adds some height to the vault.

h = [(½)V2]/g
Theoretical Analysis
Speed
Using this simplified equation, we can calculate the highest potential height for some elite vaulters
such as Sergey Bubka. Bubka held the world record at 6.14 meters for quite some time before it was
broken by Renaud Lavillenie. Bubka was recorded coming down the runway at 9.9m/s just before take
off. If put into the equation, we get
h = [(½)(9.92)]/9.8 h = 5
At this point, you start looking for errors because clearly Bubka jumped over a meter higher than his
highest potential height. This equation is correct, it is just the way we look at the answer that is wrong.
We are measuring from the center of gravity of the vaulter, not the feet. Therefore, the highest
potential height for Bubka is around 6 meters because he is 6 feet tall putting his center of gravity
around 1 meter from the ground. There is some potential energy that is stored in the vaulters muscles,
this will be examined next.
To avoid further confusion, the modified equation
h = ([(½)V2]/g) + C
Will be used with C equal to the height of the center of gravity of the vaulter in meters.
Now for Bubka we have
h = ([(½)(9.92)]/9.8) + 1
This gives us almost exactly 6 meters. Still, Bubka jumped 14 centimeters higher than the highest
potential height that this equation gave us. This is due to the push off at the top of the jump. The
highest push off the top of the pole

The Importance Of Culture And Organizational Culture
The importance of culture in the organization
The organization culture as a leadership concept has been identified as one of the many components
that leaders can use to grow a dynamic organization. Leadership in organizations starts the culture
formation process by imposing their assumptions and expectations on their followers. Once culture is
established and accepted, they become a strong leadership tool to communicate the leader s beliefs
and values to organizational members, and especially new comers. When leaders promote ethical
culture, they become successful in maintaining organizational growth, the good services demanded by
the society, the ability to address problems before they become disasters and consequently are
competitive against rivals. The leader s success will depend to a large extent, on his knowledge and
understanding of the organizational culture. The leader who understands his organizational culture and
takes it seriously is capable of predicting the outcome of his decisions in preventing any anticipated
consequences. What then is organizational culture? The concept of organizational culture has been
defined from many perspectives in the literature. There is no one single definition for organizational
culture. The topic of organizational culture has been studied from many perspectives and disciplines,
such as anthropology, sociology, organizational behavior, and organizational leadership to name a few.

other cultures, their languages and how they view the world differently than I do. So naturally my
career goals would involve international travel of some sort. Although I m on the path of becoming a
doctor, main goal is to join the Doctors without Borders initiative and be actively apart of that for
majority of my career. I choose this particular organization because I am a firm believer in helping
others; less fortunate then you, reach their full potential and providing accessible health care to these
individuals will allow them to do so. I feel as though working for Doctors without Borders would be a
wonderfully rewarding experience that will allow me to learn how to work in high risk and
unpredictable environments; because of the ever changing dynamic of the countries MSF frequent. I
also feel like I would learn how to do more with less because of limited resources of a country. During
this experience, I expect to be heavily involved with the health care of women and their children. I
will be working with women who at a higher risk of dying from complications during pregnancy, such
as; eclampsia. I would also be working to prevent mother to child transmission of the HIV/AIDS
virus. The main concerns with this organization is the fact that you may assigned to areas that are

Five Characteristics Of High Quality Information To Zillow
Justification
The Importance of the Five Characteristics of High Quality Information to Zillow
According to Baltzan (2012), the five common characteristics of high quality information are accurate,
complete, consistent, timely, and unique. The data is accurate when the value is correct, it is complete
when there is no missing values such as missing state or zip code. The data is consistent when looking
at different views arrive at the same total, e.g. the aggregated total agree with the total of the
individual items. The data is timely when it is current with respect to the business needs, such as with
weekly, daily, or hourly frequency. It is unique when there is no duplication of data.
Based on Zillow s business needs of presenting accurate, up to date data to the users, the order of
importance of these five characteristics to Zillow (from high to low level of importance) would be
accurate, timely, consistent, complete, and unique. Accuracy can be assured when Zillow takes data
from reliable authenticated sources (e.g. the land office), and timeliness can be assured with daily
updates (or hourly where applicable). Consistency can be assured with a proper design of the database
structure, and the presentation layer. Completeness and uniqueness could something be missed, as data
completeness depends on the availability of the information provide by home owners to the land
office, and some amount of attributes might be missing. Uniqueness of data is a challenge when some

How Did Joseph Lister Antiseptics Influence That Concept
Have you ever experienced putting any sort of treatment on a scrape, cut, or wound? Well Joseph
Lister s concept of antiseptics helped influence that concept. Antiseptics helps with the limitation of
the spread of bacteria and germs. This concept came from the idea that bacteria and germs were
responsible for the infections people developed after surgery. This bacteria could normally come from
the air, but also came from uncleaned equipment, unwashed hands, and dirty surgical aprons or
clothing. For this conflict Lister developed antiseptics which were medicines that slowed or stopped
the growth of bacteria. One of his contributions was an antiseptic chemical called, carbolic acid. This

The Importance Of Testing For All Software Development...
Over the past few decades, online industry has developed in leaps and bounds. Nowadays, testing is
playing an instrumental role in all software development processes. A good testing program can help
to prevent software defects, reduce the number of bugs, errors, and improve the overall software
quality. Besides, when it comes to testing online, it has been withdrawing more and more attention
from any individuals or organizations who construct and operate websites, such as e commerce

Specific and realistic numbers and figures will be assigned to each of the goals, such as conversion
rate, bounces rate, the portion of returning users and new users in a period of time, the percentage of
improvement. In order to set program goals, beside identifying the higher level business goals and
how the testing program can help to achieve those goals, the test organizers can create micro goals.
For example, for content based websites: goals are to increase the number of visitors signing up, the
number of contents downloaded, forwarded or social engagements (shares, comments); for e
commerce sites: the number of accounts created, trial versions downloaded. However, the test owners
must keep in mind the main goals of their general business. For instance, a test shows an increase in
the number of customers sign in to the customer forms, but such customers become the real customers
who actually create conversions. While running a test, the test manager and testers should focus on the
long term goals, because in some circumstances the result of an individual test might dictate the
direction of the long term goals. In such circumstances, they should not change the goals immediately,
but keep optimizing, keep testing until to run all the possible and optimized scenarios in such period
of testing time. Testing goals are set, but before adding test detail

The Political Forces Of Colombia
Colombia has been struggling with internal conflict for most of its 204 year history. Since the late
1800s the main reason for conflict would be divisions between bipartisan political forces. Bloody civil
wars dot the history of Colombia but perhaps the most significant period in Colombian violence would
be the clash between the Colombian Liberal Party and the Colombian Conservative Party in the 1940s.
This would culminate into one of the bloodiest civil wars in the country s history, which would simply
be called La Violencia (The Violence). The Colombian Liberal Party had maintained hegemony in
Colombia through the 1930s and 40s, politically sidelining the Colombian Conservative Party. The
presidential elections of 1946, however, would change this. Liberal candidates, Gabriel Turbay and
Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, would split the vote and, therefore, cause the victory of Mariano Ospina Pérez, a
member of the conservative party. The conservatives had suffered condemnation from the liberals
since 1930 and now that the latter s power had manifested in Colombia the tides would shift toward
conservative retaliation. Peasants armed by the Colombian Liberal Party sprung up in order to wage
war on the government. This marked the beginning of a notable rise in political resentment toward
either party by their counterpart. The catalyst that would spark the intense period of violence was the
assassination of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, a wildly popular liberal presidential candidate who was

Wearable Medical Devices Using Delta Sigma Processing...
3.3 Research Objective 3: Wearable Medical Devices using Delta Sigma Processing Circuits
The goal of this research objective is to apply the proposed Delta Sigma DSP circuits to wearable
medical sensors, more specifically to an EEG signal processor. Examples of questions that we wish to
address are: How much power can be saved by using Delta Sigma circuits instead of conventional
DSP circuits? What is the trade off between processing accuracy and power consumption? How can an
efficient interface be designed between Delta Sigma Processing circuits and peripheral devices?
3.3.1 Background and Rationale
Wearable EEG signal processors are imminently expected by researchers, clinical doctors and patients

It would also allow the patients to wear the device outside the laboratory, creating more opportunities
to capture elusive phenomena [134]. This would require a low power device implementing a hardware
efficient EEG processing algorithm.
The Cross frequency coupling (CFC) algorithm is one of the most promising EEG signal processing
methods [135 137]. CFC, which highlights the correlation between the high frequency amplitude and
the low frequency phase of EEG signals, is an attractive means of studying cognitive brain tasks [138]
and disorders such as epilepsy [136] and schizophrenia [137]. Several metrics have been developed to
measure this coupling, including the modulation index [136] and the phase locking value (PLV) [135].
However, like other EEG processing algorithms, CFC involves a large number of MAC operations. If
it is implemented in an ASIC using conventional circuits, it consumes too much circuit area and
power, increasing the cost of the device and reducing its battery lifetime. Based on our preliminary
results, we propose to use Delta Sigma based linear processing circuits for CFC based EEG
processors. The proposed project could dramatically reduce circuit area and power and create a
wearable CFC EEG processor.

How Does Hester Prynne Create Tension In Chapter 3
In chapter 3, the readers are introduced to a mysterious new character, and tension appears. As Hester
continues to endure her punishment at the pillory, she stares down from the platform and notices a
strange man among the crowd, standing next to a Native American. Although, by a seemingly careless
arrangement of his heterogeneous garb, he had endeavored to conceal or abate the peculiarity, it was
sufficiently evident to Hester Prynne, that one of this man s shoulders rose higher than the other.
Hester instantly recognizes the man by the deformity which he carries on one of his shoulders. In fact,
this is not the first time the reader is introduced to this man, he is briefly referred to back in chapter 2,
when Hester attempts to avoid further shaming and finds refuge in her memories: There she beheld
another countenance, of a man well stricken in years, a pale, thin, scholar like visage, with eyes dim
and bleared by the lamp light that had served them to pore over many ponderous books. ... Show more

Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to investigate the effects of graduates characteristics on the chance
of being employed. A total of 3,025 Malaysian graduates involved in the study and data were analyzed
using logistic regression analysis. The results show that the employment prospects of graduates with a

Public universities have grown from seven public universities in the 1990s to a total of 20 in 2007
(Ministry of Higher Education, 2007). A total of 18 private universities have also been established
during the same period. At the same time, there are more than 500 other institutions, including
university colleges, branch campuses of local and overseas institutions, open universities and other
institutions with non university status. Student enrolment had sky rocketed. In 2002, the total number
of students enrolled in higher institutions was 576,439 and enrolment had increased to 748,797 in
2007.
With the expansion of higher education, greater attention has to be paid to the labor market prospects
since imbalances may be created between higher education and labor market demands (Kartz Gerro
Yaish, 2003;
Teichler, 2000). Specifically, there have been concerns about the level of graduate unemployment, the
transition from higher education to work and the problems of job mismatches (Kougioumoutzaki
Kalamatianou, 2008).
Although the unemployment rate in Malaysia is always low compared to the United States or
European countries, there are great concerns for unemployment. This is due to the fact that currently,
there is no unemployment insurance or assistance available in the country. Hence an increase in the
unemployment rate may lead to an increased crime rate. In light of the above, this paper focuses on
issues

What Is The Ghost In Hamlet
The presentation is about some instructions that Hamlet s father, the ghost, gives to Hamlet. As
Hamlet mentions in the play, he believes that humans are afraid of death for the reason that they do
not know what will happen after that since no one has ever returned from death to specify the
circumstances that human beings may encounter after they die.
In the presentation, however, the ghost believes that what may happen after death is related to what
you do throughout your life. Therefore, he encourages Hamlet to remain silent and not to get revenge
on Claudius for the reason that seeking the revenge may lead Hamlet to indecision about how or when
to do that. Moreover, by avoiding the revenge, Claudius will ultimately discover how terrible his deed
was; thus, it is better to revenge his uncle by letting him regret what he has done other than killing
him. When Ophelia gives Claudius a rue, she tries to make him feel sorry about marrying his dead
brother s wife; even though she seems to be mad. For that reason, the ghost mentions that rue will ...

In the presentation, the ghost mentions that getting revenge on Claudius is Hamlet s own choice to
make, and he warns Hamlet about what will happen to him if he avoids remaining silent. In the play,
however, the ghost encourages Hamlet to get the revenge. Ultimately, these two ideas convey the
theme of indecision, both in the play and in the presentation. Since the both sides of this decision that
Hamlet should make are extremely controversial, Hamlet becomes indecisive about his purpose. If he
remains silent, Claudius and Gertrude may become more corrupted, or they may regret what they did,
which may put an end to their corruption. However, if Hamlet plans to kill Claudius, it would alleviate
Hamlet s suffering, but it could also happen that everyone in the story would die, and no one would
gain anything

How Did Puck Use Shadows In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Dreams are referenced quite frequently in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. These
references along with the title of the play are inklings that the play, or a portion of the play, is all just a
strange dream that the characters are having while the play is taking place, but this is not so. A
Midsummer Night s Dream is, in reality, a recollection and description of a dream and events that
transpired in the past rather than a narration of those happening in the present. It is a portrayal of a
ballad written by Peter Quince about a long and complex dream that Bottom had, including the events
that transpired after.
The thought that the majority of the play is a dream is indeed true, but the idea that it is one happening

I have had a dream past the wit of man to say what dream it was. Man is but an ass if he go about to
expound this dream, (4.1.214 217).
This is when Bottom realizes that everything that had just happened was all made up in this mind. He
had dreamt about what was currently going on in his life, the wedding and play, but his wild
imagination caused the dream to take a weird and unusual turn thus leading to fairies and ass heads.
Bottom is so dumbfounded by this dream that he starts going on about eyes hearing and ears seeing.
His dumbfoundment and astonishment is the most important feeling of the entire play; even more so
than love. It is this feeling that leads to the very existence of the play. After his spiel about how
indescribable the dream was, Bottom goes on to say,
I will get Peter Quince to write a ballad of this dream. It shall be called Bottom s Dream be cause it
hath no bottom; and I will sing it in the latter end of a play, before the Duke. Peradventure, to make it
the more gracious, I shall sing it at her death,

Parrot Persuasive Speech
If I could be an animal for a day, I would be a parrot. The only animal that can talk is a parrot. Parrots
can talk, are very colorful, and can fly up to 60 MPH. Also, parrots are very intelligent. Soaring above
the tree, talking to people, exploring the outdoors, soaking up the sun, that s what I would do all day
as a parrot. They can fly wherever they want. I would travel to the beach. Most parrots live in tropical
places near a beach, so I will be able to visit the beach all the time. When I m at the beach, I will talk
to people and freak them out! There are approximately 350 species of parrots. However, they all have
curved beaks. Most parrots eat seeds, fruit, flowers, nuts, buds, and some small creatures such as
insects. One of the most colorful parrots is the Scarlet Macaw Parrot. Male and female Macaw are
often red, yellow and blue in color. Parrots are often brightly colored. There are many different types
of parrots, but I want to be a Scarlet Macaw. The colors of parrot s help males attract females. Also,
the color helps camouflage the parrots in the tropical climate. Warm climates are where parrots are
mainly found. Which animal do you think is smarter, a dog or a parrot? Studies show that parrots are
smarter than dogs. During the study, the African Grey parrot performed as well as a three year old on a

C-Sections Analysis
I was very surprised to learn that elective C sections were actually something that was done. I had
always just assumed that C sections were only done in emergency situations/complications, when
babies were breach, or if the mother had had prior C sections. Women often choose an elective C
section because they think it is more convenient than waiting around for labor to occur on its own.
Other mothers have the idea that it will be less painful or prevent tearing, sexual dysfunction, or other
complications that go along with vaginal deliveries. In the film, they started talking about how women
in New York were having C sections and then tummy tucks immediately following. Many people do

Communicating With No Sound
Communicating with No Sound Starring at the mirror, admiring my soft and radiant face, and
knowing that I m not going to be like this in 15 to 20 years. Time changes everything, but we cannot
stop time we must accept life and the circle of life. As we are young one day our eye sight are not
going to be the same , nor our hearing , not even our taste or sense of smell , everything changes.my
question is are there ways to communicate with those at a certain age? I answer myself of course there
is and especially when talk to your healthcare provider. Everything changes with time maybe we
might be lucky and not have any hearing impairments, but we can t tell the future. We might not
understand , what an elderly patient with impairing hearing loss goes to everyday but for us to have
such a patient we much have patience and speak in a clear voice .There are over Twenty million
people in the united states that have auditory impairment in other terms having trouble hearing . Many
women, children men experience hearing loss, but the largest groups that consist are individuals over
the age of 65. first thing ,when communicating with the patient ,ask them what you can do to help
them be more comfortable so they can understand you .Also change position talk to them face to face
look directly at them, this gives them a clear view of your lips when your speaking at them. Touch the
sense of touch; you can give them a light touch shoulder to grab their attention when you speak to

Research Paper On Airport Interview
The location of the interview was in the boardroom of the Hector International Airport. The attendees
of the meeting were Kaitlyn Anderson, Stacie Tjon Bossart, Corey Quinton and Jim Koehler. Kaitlyn
is the daughter of Darren Anderson, who was the driver of the airport s Chevrolet Traverse, the subject
vehicle that was involved in the accident. Kaitlyn appeared at the interview wearing a sweat suit. She
is 18 years old and a freshman at studying pharmaceutical medicine at North Dakota State University.
She lives at home with her parents and her younger sister. She made a nice appearance during the
interview and was able to keep composed during most of the meeting. Overall, she will make an above
average witness.
Kaitlyn was in the vehicle with Darren Anderson at the time of the accident because he was excited
about the construction project going on that involved the runway and wanted to bring her out to see
the project. They arrived at the airport at approximately 11:00 PM on July 30, 2017. They walked
through the administration section of the airport and then got into the airport s Chevy Traverse.
Kaitlyn reported that the Traverse is equipped with amber warning lights on the top; however, she was
not certain if the lights were activated at any time that night.
Kaitlyn and her father drove out onto Runway 18 36, which was closed due to the construction and a
restriping project, and they parked near the intersection of Runway 18 36 and Runway 9 27. Her dad
got out of the vehicle and had a conversation with Henry Swedberg, from the airport, and another
gentleman also from the airport, regarding the work that was ongoing that night. Kaitlyn got out of the
vehicle to say hello to Henry and then both she and her dad got into the vehicle to escort the painting
truck down the middle of Runway 18 36. (Escort vehicles, which are in radio contact with the tower,
must accompany all non airport vehicles on the runways.)
West River Striping was repainting the center line of Runway 18 36 from taxiway C through the south
end of the runway. After they escorted the large painting truck to the south end of Runway 18 36,
Darren Anderson indicated that they needed to go back to the intersection of Runway

Assessment And Treatment Of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia
Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Julia Mangum East Carolina University
Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Adductor spasmodic dysphonia
(ADSD) is a voice disorder due to central motor processing abnormalities which result in decreased
control of the laryngeal muscles (Blitzer, 2010). The idiopathic disorder is characterized by
involuntary spasms of the laryngeal muscles controlling vocal fold adduction (National Spasmodic
Dysphonia Association, 2012). The dysphonic characteristics presented by patients with ADSD are
described as strained, strangled, and effortful due to irregular adductions of the vocal folds and the
occlusion of air through the vocal tract during phonation(Blitzer,2010; Cannito, Doiuchi, Murry
Woodson, 2012). Patients with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) present with similar perceptual vocal
characteristics however, treatment for the two disorders is quite different. Speech language
pathologists often have difficulty diagnosing and distinguishing between ADSD, a neurological
disorder, and MTD, a functional voice disorder (Rees et al., 2007). Correct diagnosis is important and
objective measures, such as spectral analysis, are more sufficient in distinguishing the two
disorders(Rees et al., 2007). ADSD has a neurologic etiology but the exact cause is still unknown (Lee
et al., 2003). Tanner et al. (2009) identified mumps, meningitis, tremor, cancer, and convulsive
behaviors as factors that

Proinflammatory Muscle Synthesis
TNF α is secreted primarily from the myeloid cells and is a potent proinflammatory cytokine. This
cytokine results mainly in the release of the inflammatory cytokines, IL 1β, and IL 6 (Chen and
Goeddel 2002), and was the first WAT derived inflammatory cytokine involved in the initiation and
progression of insulin resistance (Hotamisligil, Shargill et al. 1993, Tilg and Moschen 2008). Though
it was originally believed that TNF α was secreted by adipose tissue, a majority of it is secreted by
adipose tissue resident macrophages (Weisberg, McCann et al. 2003). In mice, it was proven that those
lacking TNF α or its receptors, which are positively correlated markers, were protected against insulin
resistance (Kern, Saghizadeh et al. 1995, Uysal, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2000, Vozarova, Weyer et al. 2001). Subcutaneous adipose tissue releases less IL 6 when compared to
visceral adipose tissue. IL 6 has been associated with being marker for visceral adiposity (Fried,
Bunkin et al. 1998). Two different studies have given two different results to the role that IL 6 plays in
obesity and diabetes. The first study stated that higher IL 6 levels are present in those patients with
insulin resistance that is related to obesity (Bastard, Jardel et al. 2000, Vozarova, Weyer et al. 2001).
However, the second study states that IL 6 levels do indeed correlate with fat mass and adiposity,
while not confirming that they correlate with insulin action or responsiveness (Kern, Ranganathan et
al. 2001). IL 6 has an anti inflammatory effect during exercise and it can increase the skeletal muscles
level of glucose, which in turn leads to myogenesis, hypertrophy of muscles, and AMPK mediated
fatty acid oxidation (Starkie, Ostrowski et al.

Abstract In this laboratory session, I determined the concentration of p xylene and m xylene in two
unknown samples, using o xylene as an internal standard. The analysis was done using Fourier
Transform Infrared spectrometry. The peak wavelengths of the three isomers were determined, and
standard curves were constructed from the ratio of the absorbance of the characteristic peaks. The ratio
of the concentrations was determined from the Least Square fitting of the data.
Introduction
Para xylene belongs to a family of aromatic hydrocarbons of industrial importance and can be
polymerized to obtain parylene or as a starting point to the synthesis of polyethylene terephthalate,
among other uses. The ability to measure and control its concentration in equilibrium with its o and m
isomers is therefore of great importance (Fig. 1).
For quantitative purposes internal standard method is of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calibration curve has many disadvantages like we need a supply of high purity and know
concentration of the analyte material to be a reference, also the analyte and the standard will not be
subjected to same matrix and same interfering compounds and same conditions. Many variables may
interfere or change during the measurement of response of standard and response of analyte. While if
use an internal standard, the measurement will be done at the same run for both the analyte and
standard, thus we eliminate any potential variations between the different runs that would be needed in
calibration curve method. This results in accuracy and

Romance and Reality in Flaubert’s Madame Bovary Essay
Romance and Reality in Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In the story of Alice in Wonderland we follow Alice down a rabbit hole into a land of pure wonder,
where the logic of a little girl holds no sway. In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, we witness
exactly the opposite as Emma Bovary, a most romantic creature, is purposely cast into a harshly
realistic world. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her disposition, yet in
Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her story brings is much
more pertinent. To convey this message, Flaubert replicates not a world of fantasy, but rather the real
world, with all its joy, sadness, and occasional monotony intact. Then he proceeds to dump an ... Show

All the bitterness of life seemed to be served up to her on her plate, and as the steam rose from the
boiled meat, waves of nausea rose from the depths of her soul. (Flaubert 58)
This image and atmosphere of mundane imperfection is a far cry from what Emma expects after
reading the romantic novels she smuggled in at the convent. From those foppish texts she gathers the
impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or perhaps
embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the reality in which
she lives.
Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in which
Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as Bovary.
It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and drab. Though
the image exists of the small and backward town with its town gossips and town idiot, it can be seen
that it is simply a town, one in which a person can be content that is, if she is not the always
unfulfilled Emma Bovary. Thus the setting and the stereotypical characters add to the realistic
atmosphere that confronts Emma.
Into the midst of this hodgepodge of unflattering images and commonalties, Flaubert then tosses
Emma and Charles. To Emma, Charles is

Ship Of Theseus Analysis
Ship of Theseus In terms of the ship of Theseus, I think that yes it has become a different ship than it
was before because there is no constant in the ship. Completely new wood is added that has nothing to
do with the materials from the old ship, (no DNA like in humans). It is purely an inanimate object with
no soul or anything other than its physical aspect which was promptly being replaced. Well I hope i m
not the same person I was a decade ago, because that means I am still acting the same as a six year
old. Physically my cells are dying and being replaced by new ones but it holds the same DNA and you
can see that on anyone s face. Naturally, your face does not completely change so severely that you
look like a whole different person.

  • 2. Analysis Of This Boy s Life Tabula rasa. A phrase originating from Latin that is translated to clean slate. John Locke, a philosopher, coined this term to coincide with his theory that each human is born without any pre existing traits or views of the world. To those who share Locke s conception, one could understand how easily Tobias Wolff conformed to the negative impacts he had grown up with. He is the equivalent of an unwritten book with the potential for success and academic achievement but tainted with abandonment and neglect. The antagonists Roy, Dwight, and even his own mother are the sources of false power and manhood he obtained which has an influence on his actions. Even with all of these influences, the young and naive Jack (a name Tobias Wolff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To put more emphasis on the quote, he is currently living in an unloving environment with Dwight which references to his suggestion that he is on [his] own in this new place. Because he lived in a state of financial issues, he understands why his mom can t see him but like any child who wants someone to care and love for them, they are still frustrated that they will be missing crucial relationship developments which were seen in I understood, but understanding not make me miss her less. (99). Another reason that leads to his actions, which is also the reason he wanted to strip the importance of his receival of the name Tobias and call himself Jack instead, is his father who blatantly abandoned him and his mother for a luxurious life. Wolff s father, in summary, was a man who married a millionaire and moved to Paris with Jack s older brother, Geoffrey, because he had a promising future. As wealthy as he was, the cowardly man refuses to pay his legal pittance. Jack witnesses the effects of the lack of financial support on his mother. This anger leads him to confidently say We were barely making it, and making it in spite of him. My shedding the name he d given me would put him in mind of that fact. (9) The relieved diction seen with the term shedding can only allow readers to infer that removing his assigned name was a way to disassociate his burden of a father to him and his mom. • 3. Abortion, An Act Of Killing Abortion has been a topic of ethics for as long as time can remember. Abortion is a difficult and controversial moral issue that most have dealt with or heard about. Most would argue that no one has the right to demand large sacrifices from another simply to sustain their own lives, while others see abortion as an act of killing, which is clearly wrong. Both sides have important moral insights, even if ultimately these insights are outweighed by the insights of the other side. Each and every person has their own viewpoint that is biased simply because of their religion or how they were raised. Opinions are passed on generation to generation and each generation with a more developed educated view attempts to change these views. The goal of this ethical argument is not to convince to accept one position or the other, but to help to understand both sides. Without knowledge of both sides, the argument continues. Beware of the labels Pro life and Pro choice. They imply that the other side is against life or against choice. They ignore the nuances in a person s position. There are two principal moral considerations. People consider the moral status of the fetus and on the other hand the rights of the pregnant woman. There are distinctions to whether it is immorally wrong or if it should be illegal. These are distinct issues. Not everything that is immoral is necessarily illegal. We may, for example, want to say that being unfaithful in one s marriage is immoral, but we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Coronary Collateral Circulation And Humans Are Often More... Studies looking at coronary collateral circulation in humans are typically more controversial. Skeptics have stated that collateral development is probably due to the progression of coronary artery disease rather than an effect of exercise training. In addition, direct measurement of collateral growth, typically through coronary angiographic techniques, is difficult and may have severe limitations due to low levels of resolution of vessels (Heaps et al., 2011). Small vessels involved in the coronary collateral system ( 100μm) are incredibly difficult to view angiographically, so the full magnitude of collateralization may not be assessed or may be drastically underestimated (Heaps et al., 2011; Belardinelli et al., 1998). An additional approach that studies have used to measure collateral circulation development is to measure the rate pressure product in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Increases in rate pressure product at the beginning of myocardial ischemia have been found and is potentially related to increased myocardial oxygen supply from collateral growth stimulation (Senti et al., 1998). After exercise training, coronary patients have also seen a 29% increase in coronary flow reserve in response to adenosine (Hambrecht et al., 1993). Patients with chronic CAD and impaired LV systolic function who exercised at 60% of peak oxygen uptake 3 times a week for 8 weeks saw a significant increase in mean collateral circulation score and improvements in wall ... Excessive release of this chemical leads to sleeplessness that affects normal human cycle. This contributes immensely to regular and sustained burnouts due to sleep deprivation (Seib, Whiteside, Humphrey, Lee, Thomas, Chopin, ... Anderson, 2014). Additionally, catecholamines affect the frontal region of the brain, which is instrumental in short term and long term memories (King, Lloyd Holewa, 2008). This leads to poor memory and retention capacity. Acute stress tends to have a long term mental health impact that affects multiple regions. The second response mechanism towards stress is by the heart, circulatory system and the lungs (Seib et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). Uncontrolled release of metabolic signals leads to poor digestion and absorption of bear. As the concentration of bear increases, the heart beat increases to try and distribute the concentration of bear to other parts of the body, which leads to an increase in blood pressure (Seib et al., 2014; Wells, 2013). To country oxygen demand, the breathing system suddenly increases as the lungs take in as much oxygen as they possibly can to satisfy its shortage in the blood stream (Wells, 2013). On the other hand, the spleen increases discharge of white and red blood cells to ensure that more blood cells are available to transport excess oxygen throughout the circulatory system. • 9. A Brief History Of Pole Vault Background A Brief History of Pole Vault Pole vaulting has been around since the time of the ancient Greeks. Poles were made of solid wood and used to vault over obstacles such as marshes, trenches and even walls. [1] It wasn t until around 1850 that a running form of pole vault competition emerged from Germany. The United States saw pole vaulting just before the beginning of the 20th century. Women s pole vault began in the olympics around the year 2000. [2] Now, poles are made of fiberglass or carbon fiber materials which allow for a greater bend than wood or metal. [3] The better materials also allow for what vaulters call a fling off the top of the pole which adds some height to the vault. Basic Physics Of Pole Vault The most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... h = [(½)V2]/g Theoretical Analysis Speed Using this simplified equation, we can calculate the highest potential height for some elite vaulters such as Sergey Bubka. Bubka held the world record at 6.14 meters for quite some time before it was broken by Renaud Lavillenie. Bubka was recorded coming down the runway at 9.9m/s just before take off. If put into the equation, we get h = [(½)(9.92)]/9.8 h = 5 At this point, you start looking for errors because clearly Bubka jumped over a meter higher than his highest potential height. This equation is correct, it is just the way we look at the answer that is wrong. We are measuring from the center of gravity of the vaulter, not the feet. Therefore, the highest potential height for Bubka is around 6 meters because he is 6 feet tall putting his center of gravity around 1 meter from the ground. There is some potential energy that is stored in the vaulters muscles, this will be examined next. To avoid further confusion, the modified equation h = ([(½)V2]/g) + C Will be used with C equal to the height of the center of gravity of the vaulter in meters. Now for Bubka we have h = ([(½)(9.92)]/9.8) + 1 This gives us almost exactly 6 meters. Still, Bubka jumped 14 centimeters higher than the highest

The United States shouldn t have joined the league of nations because we would be supplying the troops and food a lot and not getting anything out of it, and we were in no danger of an attack. The U.S has oceans between them and the countries they are against, so they are in no fear of being attacked. • 13. The Importance Of Culture And Organizational Culture The importance of culture in the organization The organization culture as a leadership concept has been identified as one of the many components that leaders can use to grow a dynamic organization. Leadership in organizations starts the culture formation process by imposing their assumptions and expectations on their followers. Once culture is established and accepted, they become a strong leadership tool to communicate the leader s beliefs and values to organizational members, and especially new comers. When leaders promote ethical culture, they become successful in maintaining organizational growth, the good services demanded by the society, the ability to address problems before they become disasters and consequently are competitive against rivals. The leader s success will depend to a large extent, on his knowledge and understanding of the organizational culture. The Path Of Becoming A Doctor Essay Throughout my existence on earth, I have always had an interest in learning about and experiencing other cultures, their languages and how they view the world differently than I do. So naturally my career goals would involve international travel of some sort. Although I m on the path of becoming a doctor, main goal is to join the Doctors without Borders initiative and be actively apart of that for majority of my career. I choose this particular organization because I am a firm believer in helping others; less fortunate then you, reach their full potential and providing accessible health care to these individuals will allow them to do so. I feel as though working for Doctors without Borders would be a wonderfully rewarding experience that will allow me to learn how to work in high risk and unpredictable environments; because of the ever changing dynamic of the countries MSF frequent. I also feel like I would learn how to do more with less because of limited resources of a country. During this experience, I expect to be heavily involved with the health care of women and their children. I will be working with women who at a higher risk of dying from complications during pregnancy, such as; eclampsia. I would also be working to prevent mother to child transmission of the HIV/AIDS virus. • 16. Five Characteristics Of High Quality Information To Zillow Justification The Importance of the Five Characteristics of High Quality Information to Zillow According to Baltzan (2012), the five common characteristics of high quality information are accurate, complete, consistent, timely, and unique. The data is accurate when the value is correct, it is complete when there is no missing values such as missing state or zip code. The data is consistent when looking at different views arrive at the same total, e.g. the aggregated total agree with the total of the individual items. The data is timely when it is current with respect to the business needs, such as with weekly, daily, or hourly frequency. It is unique when there is no duplication of data. Based on Zillow s business needs of presenting accurate, up to date data to the users, the order of importance of these five characteristics to Zillow (from high to low level of importance) would be accurate, timely, consistent, complete, and unique. Accuracy can be assured when Zillow takes data from reliable authenticated sources (e.g. the land office), and timeliness can be assured with daily updates (or hourly where applicable). Consistency can be assured with a proper design of the database structure, and the presentation layer. Completeness and uniqueness could something be missed, as data completeness depends on the availability of the information provide by home owners to the land office, and some amount of attributes might be missing. Well Joseph Lister s concept of antiseptics helped influence that concept. Antiseptics helps with the limitation of the spread of bacteria and germs. This concept came from the idea that bacteria and germs were responsible for the infections people developed after surgery. This bacteria could normally come from the air, but also came from uncleaned equipment, unwashed hands, and dirty surgical aprons or clothing. For this conflict Lister developed antiseptics which were medicines that slowed or stopped the growth of bacteria. One of his contributions was an antiseptic chemical called, carbolic acid. Since the late 1800s the main reason for conflict would be divisions between bipartisan political forces. Bloody civil wars dot the history of Colombia but perhaps the most significant period in Colombian violence would be the clash between the Colombian Liberal Party and the Colombian Conservative Party in the 1940s. This would culminate into one of the bloodiest civil wars in the country s history, which would simply be called La Violencia (The Violence). The Colombian Liberal Party had maintained hegemony in Colombia through the 1930s and 40s, politically sidelining the Colombian Conservative Party. The presidential elections of 1946, however, would change this. Liberal candidates, Gabriel Turbay and Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, would split the vote and, therefore, cause the victory of Mariano Ospina Pérez, a member of the conservative party. The conservatives had suffered condemnation from the liberals since 1930 and now that the latter s power had manifested in Colombia the tides would shift toward conservative retaliation. Peasants armed by the Colombian Liberal Party sprung up in order to wage war on the government. This marked the beginning of a notable rise in political resentment toward either party by their counterpart. The catalyst that would spark the intense period of violence was the assassination of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, a wildly popular liberal presidential candidate who was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It would also allow the patients to wear the device outside the laboratory, creating more opportunities to capture elusive phenomena [134]. This would require a low power device implementing a hardware efficient EEG processing algorithm. The Cross frequency coupling (CFC) algorithm is one of the most promising EEG signal processing methods [135 137]. CFC, which highlights the correlation between the high frequency amplitude and the low frequency phase of EEG signals, is an attractive means of studying cognitive brain tasks [138] and disorders such as epilepsy [136] and schizophrenia [137]. Several metrics have been developed to measure this coupling, including the modulation index [136] and the phase locking value (PLV) [135]. However, like other EEG processing algorithms, CFC involves a large number of MAC operations. If it is implemented in an ASIC using conventional circuits, it consumes too much circuit area and power, increasing the cost of the device and reducing its battery lifetime. Based on our preliminary results, we propose to use Delta Sigma based linear processing circuits for CFC based EEG processors. The proposed project could dramatically reduce circuit area and power and create a wearable CFC EEG processor. As Hester continues to endure her punishment at the pillory, she stares down from the platform and notices a strange man among the crowd, standing next to a Native American. Although, by a seemingly careless arrangement of his heterogeneous garb, he had endeavored to conceal or abate the peculiarity, it was sufficiently evident to Hester Prynne, that one of this man s shoulders rose higher than the other. As Hamlet mentions in the play, he believes that humans are afraid of death for the reason that they do not know what will happen after that since no one has ever returned from death to specify the circumstances that human beings may encounter after they die. In the presentation, however, the ghost believes that what may happen after death is related to what you do throughout your life. Therefore, he encourages Hamlet to remain silent and not to get revenge on Claudius for the reason that seeking the revenge may lead Hamlet to indecision about how or when to do that. Moreover, by avoiding the revenge, Claudius will ultimately discover how terrible his deed was; thus, it is better to revenge his uncle by letting him regret what he has done other than killing him. • 30. Assessment And Treatment Of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Julia Mangum East Carolina University Assessment and Treatment of Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia Adductor spasmodic dysphonia (ADSD) is a voice disorder due to central motor processing abnormalities which result in decreased control of the laryngeal muscles (Blitzer, 2010). The idiopathic disorder is characterized by involuntary spasms of the laryngeal muscles controlling vocal fold adduction (National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association, 2012). The dysphonic characteristics presented by patients with ADSD are described as strained, strangled, and effortful due to irregular adductions of the vocal folds and the occlusion of air through the vocal tract during phonation(Blitzer,2010; Cannito, Doiuchi, Murry Woodson, 2012). Patients with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) present with similar perceptual vocal characteristics however, treatment for the two disorders is quite different. Speech language pathologists often have difficulty diagnosing and distinguishing between ADSD, a neurological disorder, and MTD, a functional voice disorder (Rees et al., 2007). Correct diagnosis is important and objective measures, such as spectral analysis, are more sufficient in distinguishing the two disorders(Rees et al., 2007). Though it was originally believed that TNF α was secreted by adipose tissue, a majority of it is secreted by adipose tissue resident macrophages (Weisberg, McCann et al. 2003). However, the second study states that IL 6 levels do indeed correlate with fat mass and adiposity, while not confirming that they correlate with insulin action or responsiveness (Kern, Ranganathan et al. 2001). The analysis was done using Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometry. The peak wavelengths of the three isomers were determined, and standard curves were constructed from the ratio of the absorbance of the characteristic peaks. The ratio of the concentrations was determined from the Least Square fitting of the data. In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, we witness exactly the opposite as Emma Bovary, a most romantic creature, is purposely cast into a harshly realistic world. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her disposition, yet in Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her story brings is much more pertinent. All the bitterness of life seemed to be served up to her on her plate, and as the steam rose from the boiled meat, waves of nausea rose from the depths of her soul. (Flaubert 58) This image and atmosphere of mundane imperfection is a far cry from what Emma expects after reading the romantic novels she smuggled in at the convent. From those foppish texts she gathers the impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or perhaps embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the reality in which she lives. Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in which Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as Bovary. It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and drab.
