Macro Periodization
After reading the Macro Periodization paper, it surprises me how much planning and precision go into
every aspect of training a athlete at Concordia. Reading the goals of the periodization really stood out
to me, because these goals are what is going to lay out the overall theme of an athlete s training
routine. Whether it s decreasing the risk of injury, or improving the many components that improve an
athlete s performance the goals set for the training of Concordia athletes is amazingly well organized
and executed. What I took from the Program Design Section of the paper, is that Concordia macro
periodization is not focused on training our athletes like bodybuilders, but instead we design out
programs in order to improve the performance of Concordia s athletes. ... Show more content on

In the final, and the most important section of the paper, the Concordia University Wisconsin
Macrocycle is laid out with every detail, and generally workout concepts an athlete will participate in
throughout the athletic year. After reading this portion of the paper, many parts of the macrocycle look
very familiar to me, as I have already gone through them. What I took out of this that I felt was the
most surprising aspect of the macrocycle, was how well thought out, and how far ahead the
preparation is for the training of the university s athletes. The thing that I took out of this paper that I
will try to take with me the rest of my athletic career, is that there is a lot of preparation and effort that
goes into my training here, and these training programs are made for my benefit, so I should not waste
the strength coach s time by not giving it my all in the weight room, or not showing up at all. I will
continue to follow the macrocycle for the rest of my career here at Corcyra, and hopefully it will take
me to new heights in my athletic

Founded by Roy Raymond in 1977, now their sales have reached over $6 billion. Through catalogues,
thousands of stores, and their website, Victoria s Secret sell bath and body products, clothing for all
seasons, shoes, and of course, undergarments. Roy Raymond started Victoria s Secret in San Francisco
in 1977, basically because he was depressed by the choices of undergarments when he was shopping
for his wife. He was thoroughly unimpressed by the styles and the choice of materials designers were
using in 1977. Also, he complained that the sales people made him unwelcomed and as if he were
intruding on something highly personal. He vowed to have a place men could pick highly desirable

The Effect of the Death Penalty in Texas
The Effect of the Death Penalty in Texas
Introduction
A lot of heat and controversy surrounds capital punishment in today s society. The death penalty was
built into the Texas justice system in 1835 and has retained most of its strength compared to the rest of
the states. The famous motto Don t Mess with Texas stands true when concerning the death penalty; In
Kenneth William s article, Texas: Tough on Murderers or on Fairness?. Williams states, No one
promotes this message [Don t Mess with Texas] more than Texas prosecutors with their use of the
death penalty. While the nation as a whole has become somewhat ambivalent about capital
punishment, Texas prosecutors continue to seek death sentences on a regular basis, and the state ...

They randomly selected address throughout Texas and sent them a questionnaire filled with questions
such as, Do you support the death penalty? , Should there be a waiting period to ensure an innocent
life is not taken? , and Do you have confidence in the death penalty system? Their research found that
the majority of Texans still support the death penalty, yet they have little confidence in the system. The
subjects surveyed expressed concern with the due process in which it is administered to inmates.
Alternative Research
However, In Morgan Reynolds online article, Fair and Effective in Texas on the Heartland Institute
website, she states that she believes the death penalty in Texas does serve as a deterrent. She states that
in Texas the death penalty is saved for the worst criminals who are truly deserving. She says that
crime rates in Texas have fallen nearly sixty percent since the state started using the sentence for
selective crimes in the 1990 s. She also states that if there is no death penalty than what value you are
putting on the life of the victim. On the website Waco Trib, Tommy Witherspoon writes in his article
Pursuit of death penalty slows in McLennan County, Texas , that the amount of inmates being
sentences to death row is dwindling each year in Texas because of the new law enacting the option of
life without parole. Life without parole is becoming popular

Good Bye Lenin Symbolism
Within the film, Good Bye, Lenin!, the transition from a Socialist society to a post Socialist nation can
be seen in the film s utilization of symbolism. Symbolism used within the film can be understood as
reflective of the actual lives of German citizens, and from this imagery, the transition to post
Socialism can be analyzed as bittersweet. Good Bye, Lenin! portrayed the conditioning of Socialist
citizens by politicians, the citizens reliance on governmental support, the westernization of East
Germany, and the gendered roles of men and women within society. Within the film s symbolic
imagery, these portrayals further resonate the bittersweet transition of Germany s society and the
reality of its citizens. It is from these various depictions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
by Alex, the film s main character. The transition is best described by Alex when he expresses his
childhood interest in the cosmonaut, Sigmund Jahn. Within the film, as Alex verbally details his
childhood interest in the cosmonaut s departure into space, a spaceship is visually seen leaving earth
for space. The departure of the spaceship from earth into space is reflective of East Germany s
transition from Socialism to post Socialism. This depiction of the cosmonaut is symbolic of how new
and foreign post Socialism was to East German citizens, as space was to Sigmund Jahn. More
importantly, the ascent into space by Jahn is also symbolic of the wanted achievements of Alex.
Furthermore, this example of symbolism allows for the interpretation of distinct feelings of those
experiencing the transition from Socialism to post Socialism may have felt to be acknowledged.
Within Socialist societies, dependency on the government to require resources and resolution upon
being given certain opportunities can be noted. During the transition to post Socialism, uncertainty of
what a society free of Socialism would consist of, and freedom to exhibit characteristics that were
condemned under Socialism can also be noted. In acknowledging the differences of feelings felt
within Germany s Socialist and post Socialist society, the transition s description as bittersweet can be

The Blind Side Essay
There were many characters in this movie that were apart of Michael s life. In the beginning we saw
coach Cotton, he was very judging but he wanted to have Michael play for his team so he talked the
board into letting Michael come to the school. Coach Cotton was very kind for that. Then we see the
family of four, a mom, dad, daughter, and son. The moms name was Leigh. Leigh was very
demanding but she was also very caring and defensive. Sean, the dad wasn t very much of anything.
He kind of just went with his wife wanted to do. Then my favorite, S.J., he was the closest to Mike,
well other than Leigh. S.J. was funny and he was very friendly. He helped Mike a lot at school and
with football. The last one was Collines. Collines was the daughter. At first I felt that she didn t want
anything to do with Michael. She kind of had an attitude but she was very sweet and she ended up

his life. That really broke him out of his shell. He was told that he could do better by his teachers and I
really think that helped him. He started getting better grades in his classes. Then S.J. helped him with
his football. Michael saw that these people could help him and he stayed. He wanted that for himself. I

Moon Landing History
How can the Moon landings be compared to today? I believe that there are plenty of comparisons to
make between then and now. The Moon landings was an important time in american history, it gave
americans a goal to go to the moon by the end of the 60s, and leaps were made in science and math,
this can be seen again but this time with private space company, SpaceX, who wants to go to mars by
2018 using its new technology to forge a path .
First let s start by saying: why did we go to the moon to begin with? The main reason we went to the
moon was because we were behind in the space race and we needed to do something that would trump
everything the USSR did. In this space race the USSR was beating us to everything, they were the first

after they could they would detach the lunar module from the command module heading to the moon s

Property Developers Role in Urbanization
Property speculators are those who invest in different kinds of properties such as residential
properties, offices, shopping malls and so on. They buy the property at a low price but sell it at a high
price and the difference between two prices is their profit. This essay will focus on only one type of
speculators property developers and their role in urban change. Property developers who buy a piece
of land and build offices or housings and then sell to the public to gain profit.
Urban change is the impact of urbanization. Urbanization means the percentage increase in the urban

With a nice living environment, plenty of facilities and a high living standard in urban area, more
people are eager to move to urban area. This causes a further increase in urban population and
adverses the problem of inadequate living space.
To deal with the problem mentioned above, the property developers therefore create much residential
land use. In the 1960s, Tin Shui Wai and Admiralty were for fishery and military port respectively. But
in the early 2000s, the developers turned the originally land uses to residential, recreational and
commercial land use which enlarged the size of the urban areas. Besides, the economy in Hong Kong
is at its peak before 1997. The demand for commercial land use was high. The property developers
urged the government reclaim Victoria Harbour to obtain more land for building more commercial
buildings and offices which are profitable. One of the significant example is Chek Lap Kok airport
which is reclaimed from the sea to facilitate the economic growth. These show that the property
developers expand outwards to get more land and it leads to urban change.
There is another way of outward expansion and that is the expansion of built up area into rural areas.
That means originally the land is used for agriculture but the developers convert them into urban land
uses. Tai po is a good example to illustrate this point. In the 1950s, Tai Po was a piece of

Anne Sexton Woman
I have been her kind. (Sexton, lines 1 7)
Here, Sexton is not meaning that she has literally been a witch, but she empathizes with the persecuted
women of earlier centuries. When Sexton states that she is braver at night and that she has done her
hitch/over the plain houses, she is verbally expressing that the tenebrosity is her only escape from the
judging ocular perceivers of people who lead impeccable, conventional lives in suburbia. (Sexton,
lines 3 4). The orator kens what it is relish to be the isolated witch who does not fit the typical woman
s mold, and who is a lonely thing that is cast out of society for not fitting in. (Sexton, line 5). By
saying that a woman like that is not a woman, quite, she is exhibiting that people view women who are
non conformist as flawed and not even as legitimate women. In the second stanza, Sexton goes on to
say that the speaker has: Found the warm caves in the woods, Filled them with skillets, carvings,
shelves,
Closets, silks, innumerable goods;
Fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves:
Whining, rearranging the disaligned.

lifestyle, Sexton is verbalizing that a housewife can be solitary and misunderstood as well because of
the isolation that emanates from her subordinate role in society. Just as the witch or outcast is

As an adult you are responsible for every action that you take, but before that action are a series of
thoughts that lead you to taking that action. Your personal responsibility starts at a young age, you are

Mass V. Mary s Catholic Church
The religious institution that I observed is affiliated with Christianity. Catholics worship is called
Mass and that is what I observed and reflected about. As many of my friends are Catholic, I thought it
would be interesting to go and experience a Catholic Mass, and watch what all happens during one.
Given the opportunity to go to St. Mary s Catholic church in my hometown with my friend s family,
and experience the Mass first hand.
As I stepped into the church, I already felt a warm, welcoming feeling. A couple of the members of the

From listening to the daily readings and reflecting on them with psalms and hymns, I could see a
focused approach to the word. All the readings motivated us to see and face all the challenges that
were in the real world today. The gospel and sermon spoke by the priest were, even more of a
celebration of the word and to proclaim our faith outside the church. Following the time of listening
and reflecting on the readings of the day, I noticed that it was then time to reflect and act upon faith.
Worshippers would bring up offerings and gifts that would be blessed and accepted by Jesus. I think
the public display of communion with all the worshipers was evident when everyone went up to the
altar to receive the bread, which is similar my church. I think that the second part of Mass showed the
actions of faith that were taken after celebrating the word of God. Overall, the service was pleasing
and enjoyable to observe. The visit made me see and understand the Mass and the symbolism that the
church itself has. I enjoyed the first part of listening to the word and having the priest apply the
sermon and readings directly into our lives today and then the second part, seeing everyone participate
in gathering gifts and communion, showing their faith and proclaiming it. I found the choir to be
interesting that they do most of the singing with sometimes everyone singing but overall it was a good

The Pros and Cons of the Death Penalty Essay examples
In the world we as people live in violence. Violence has gotten so out of control that it has affected
everyone. The one thing about violence is that it also leads to crimes. And crimes leads to some people
being imprisoned, while others are put on death row. But if crimes are crimes, what makes them minor
or major? Who decides if they are minor or major? Nowadays minor and major crimes are being
pushed together. For example, someone gets shot and the shooter gets 5 years in prison. But if
someone is raped it cannot be proven and the victim is left suicidal while the rapist goes about their

of money to make sure that this particular crime was committed by the right person then so be it. It
should not matter whether it takes another month or so to be accurate with the crime committed. Also
Robinson adds Some experts believe deciding to limit the death penalty will no longer make it a
potential deterrent to criminals (Robinson par. 24). If the death penalty is restricted then there is no
hope of it having an effect on the population a little as time passes. Robinsons also wrote about how
the death penalty should be used:
More discriminate use of the death penalty reserving its use for only highly aggravated crimes, the

Everything Flows By Vasily Grossman
Throughout his novel Everything Flows, Vasily Grossman provides numerous occasions for defining
freedom. In the midst of attempting to give meaning to freedom, Grossman greatly invests in wrestling
with the issue of why freedom is still absent within Russia although the country has seen success in
many different ways. Through the idea and image of the Revolution stems Capitalism, Leninism, and
Stalinism. Grossman contends that freedom is an inexorable occurrence and that to live means to be
free , that it is simply the nature of human kind to be free (200 204). The lack of freedom expresses a
lack of humanity in Russia, and though freedom never dies, if freedom does not exist in the first place,
then it has no chance to be kept alive. Through Grossman s employment of the Revolution and the
ideas that stem from it, he illustrates why freedom is still absent from Russian society, but more
importantly why the emergence of freedom is inevitable.
The confusion at the lack of freedom in Russia despite the success the country has experienced
through newly built cities, construction sites, and military victories, is exemplified by Grossman early
in the novel through the use of Ivan Grigoryevich, a Russian citizen recently released from the Gulag
(49). As daunting as that is, it is understandable why it is so. Freedom gives those who have it the
opportunity to choose as they wish, do as they wish, think as they wish, and say as they wish, but to

His effectiveness rests on the fact that he has developed the practical essence of Marxism to a pitch of
clarity and concreteness never before achieved. He has rescued this aspect of Marxism from an almost
total oblivion and by virtue of this theoretical action he has once again placed in our hands the key to a
right understanding of Marxist method. For it is our task and this is the fundamental conviction
underlying this book to understand the essence of Marx s method and to apply it correctly. In no sense
do we aspire to improve on it. If on a number of occasions certain statements of Engels are made the
object of a polemical attack this has been done, as every perceptive reader will observe, in the spirit of
the system as a whole. On these particular points the author believes, rightly or wrongly, that he is
defending orthodox Marxism against Engels himself. We adhere to Marx s doctrines, then, without
making any attempt to diverge from them, to improve or correct them. The goal of these arguments is
an interpretation, an exposition of Marx s theory as Marx understood it. But this orthodoxy does not in
the least strive to preserve what Mr. von Struve calls the aesthetic integrity of

Essay On Zika Virus
The recent spread of the fatal Zika virus throughout Central and South America has left the world in
shock. The entrance the virus into Miami has enhanced the scare even more. Now that it has become a
realistic problem to the United States, the thought of personal safety comes to mind. There is a global
panic erupting and it is obvious that this disease needs to be stopped. This mosquito transmitted
infection can be passed onto a human with as little as one bite, and because it is a virus, there is no
absolute cure for it. Seeing these facts, the only thing that can be done is preventing it from moving
any further. Zika has proven that it is a threat around the world, so to ensure that the country stays safe
and this epidemic is contained, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, About 80 percent of people who are
infected with Zika virus may not have any symptoms. Illness may develop in 20 percent of infected
people within 3 to 7 days after a bite from an infected mosquito. Common symptoms of Zika virus
infection include fever, rash, joint pain, conjunctivitis (red eyes), muscle pain or headache. Severe
symptoms and fatalities are uncommon ( Zika Virus ). The author reports that not everyone with the
virus will become sick, and some might never show symptoms. This is important because there is no
clear way to be certain that you are not infected. The uncertainty of Zika is partly why it has become
such a problem. If someone is unaware they have the disease, they could easily pass it on to others.
Aside from the dangerous symptoms, the real difficulty is how it affects pregnant women. Zika virus
can be given from the mother to the baby throughout pregnancy as can result in a condition called
microcephaly (the head is smaller than normal because the brain has not properly developed or is not
growing) ( Zika Virus par. 4). This can be deadly in newborn babies and is why Zika is one of the

NIMS Case Study
The President of the United States of America issued the HOmeland Security Presidential Directive
(HSPD) 5 on February 28th, 2003 for Managing Domestic incidents like terrorist attacks, this helped
create the National Incident Management System (NIMS) (Homeland Security, 2004). The use of the
Incident Management System and Incident Command System can help respond and manage an attack
of Weapons of Mass Destruction. These systems allow for coordination to be used in a proper and
efficient manner. Without a system in place communication and coordination can fall apart and the

Could Schizophrenia be the Answer to the
Mysterious Vampire Legend?
The vampire legend and many behaviors and experiences of schizophrenics seem to share many
common traits. The traits that are most recognizable are fears of being enclosed, periods of
semistarvation or complete starvation, which can be associated with periodic gorging, reversal of the
day night cycle, and a preoccupation with or dread of mirrors (Kayton 304). Though the term
schizophrenia or demence precoce was only introduced in 1852 (Boyle 43), behaviors of people
affected by this illness have been documented much earlier.
The concept of a dead person returning in his living physical form and feeding on the living is
considered a vampire. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here is where an important part of the legend draws reference. According to Kayton, the vampire
(young suicide) was known to either devour or steal the hearts of his victims. When the heart was
stolen, it was placed over a fire to create an intense unfulfilled love in the bosom of the person it was
taken from (307). In Dracula we sort of get that sense the three vampire women wanted this from
Jonathan. Because when the Count told them that they could not have him, one of them boldly told
him: You yourself never loved (55). Also, according to schizophrenic suicide history the family
members who were often attacked were mainly members who showed their guilt over the oral
deprivation onto the fantasized vampire (patient) with a feared oral attack (Kayton 311). That would
be the logic of why the victims of the vampire are usually family members or persons they love; as we
witness this with Lucy as she tried to kiss Arthur a two different occasions when she became a
vampire. This theory also suggests that the parent s role is very important and their actions with the
child of either showing affection or rejection when the child attempts to become close to them
(McMahon 212).
Besides the removal of the heart, unmistakably, the most important part of the legend is that the
vampire attacks his victims by sucking out their blood. There are claims that the attack of the vampire
shows consistency with some of the unconscious fantasies of schizophrenic

Humor In Ernest Thayer s Casey At The Bat
In Casey at the Bat, Ernest Thayer uses humor in veriest ways. He uses humor to describe how the
audience reacts to certain experiences at the baseball game. One of the techniques he uses is figurative
language. An example of humor is when he uses personification in writing, Five thousand tongues
applaud. . When people image this in their minds they see someone with their mouths open and their
tongue clapping, this image is amusing. Another way Ernest uses humor is by when he wrote about the
umpire calling a strike and the crowd stated yelling kill him.The audience was getting worked up
because they think Casey is the best player, and he doesn t deserve a strike. Also, another example is

The impacts of nutrition information on advertisement of fast food chains
The fast food industry in the U.S. has rapidly expanded in the past few decades (Hwang, 2013). In
2014, the industry has created a 3% current value growth, indicating its robust and continued ability in
the U.S. market overall (Euromonitor, 2015). This strong increase has largely changed Americans
lifestyle and eating habits; the amount of money they spend on fast food is more than that on
education, readings and videos (Schlosser, 1998). Moreover, the fast food chains spent almost $500
million on cross promotion events with additional $300 million spent on premiums distribution in
2009 (Bernhardt, Wilking, Gilbert Diamond, Emond, Sargent, 2015). Indeed, by spending around $10
billion on food related ads every year, the food industry becomes the second largest advertiser in
America (Bernhardt, Wilking, Gilbert Diamond, Emond, Sargent, 2015). According to a report from
Fast Food Facts, the whole fast food industry spent $4.6 billion on all kinds of advertising in 2012,
among which advertising spending of McDonald s was the most. Looking into the way how fast food
chain advertisements are considered to be capable in influencing people s eating habits and food
preferences (Bernhardt, Wilking, Gilbert Diamond, Emond, Sargent, 2015), it has been attributed to
the obesity of Americans (Mink, 2006). The total sales of fast food in America was 4% in 1953 while

Review of the Bail Bond System
Kevin Hudson

Prof. Kuennen
Review of Bail Bond System To begin the process of bail, first there must be a suspect, an arrest, a
police report filled out, and charges filed against the suspect. From here, there are five possible release
options: own recognizance, property bond, cash bond, surety bond, and citation release. In the
following paragraphs, I will present each of these topics and show how they are typically used. The
most commonly used form of release from jail, until the court date, is own recognizance (O.R.) This
program is used through the county or the specific law enforcement managed pre trial program. In
order to determine whether a suspect can be released by the own recognizance, a staff member of the

Lakewood Officers on a cold night in November, it took just over two months, February 2nd, 2010,
for Governor Christine Gregoire to announce a review of the entire Washington State bail bond
system. A new policy has been suggested that will put legislator right into the middle of the bail bonds

getting released for less than what is asked of the state. In an article by OPB News, dated February

Amelia Earhart Speech
Have you ever been daring enough to think outside the box or do something out of the ordinary?
Maybe you have, or maybe you ve been too scared to do it. Someone who wasn t afraid was Amelia
Earhart. She did something no one else had done or attempted to do before. Amelia Earhart, daring
and outgoing from the start of her life, achieved many things, which is why she should be remembered
because, indeed, flying is what ended her life.
Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1898, in Atchison, Kansas. Around 1907, her whole family
moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Amelia was a full out tomboy during her whole childhood. She once slid
a sled off a barn roof, calling it a roller coaster. She also played all the sports that, normally, only boys
played like football and basketball. During the summer of 1907, Amelia s dad, Edwin, took her and
her sister, Muriel, to the Des Moines State Fair. Edwin was really attracted to the model airplane at the
fair. On the other hand, Muriel and Amelia, surprisingly, were unamused. They just thought the plane
was boring. (Lardner, 205 207).
In 1917, Amelia and her mother took a trip to Toronto, Canada, even though, there was a war
happening. Amelia saw wounded soldiers on her left and right. She knew she had to help in some way.
So, she stayed in Toronto and became a nurse s aid. This began her path down the medical and nursing
road. After the war, Amelia started premedical nursing school in New York. (Lardner, 207).
Amelia s love for planes started to

The Ocean Tone
As an observation of the opposing natures of the ocean s surfaces and depths, Hawthorne s The Ocean
illustrates the tranquility of a grave beneath the ocean s waves. The melancholy tone of the poem acts
like a unifying current, pervading the text of the poem and saturating it with a feeling of peace
mingled with undertones of sadness. Divided into two octaves, the poem first depicts the nature of the
ocean referring to it as quiet and alone then the second half of the poem contrasts typical graves with
the graves of mariners beneath the sea (2). The poem also relies on a detached observer to act as the
speaker to directly connect the audience to the image of the ocean which it is describing. The poem
starts with a description of the ocean and its caves and the first octave also establishes the inherent
contrast between the ocean s silent caves and its fury (1 3). The first octave portrays a divided ocean;

The final line of the first stanza emphasizes the power of the ocean and that it does not discriminate
when choosing its victims since it willingly takes the young, the bright, the fair (8). The poem then
transitions like the crest of a wave colliding with a sandy beach as it begins to talk specifically of
those who find solace beneath the wrathful waves. The poem s structure also echoes the ebb and flow
of the ocean as one wave flawlessly makes way for another. The second stanza begins by describing
the slumber of the wearied seamen and by stating that they are resting calmly the speaker conjures an
atmosphere of finality and peace (9). The poem also refers to the sea as belonging to the seamen
through the use of the word own and in doing so he emphasizes that because the men spent their lives
on the sea it became their home

Throws and submissions are both scored in a different way. When being scored, the force and control
of the throw or pin is taken into account. You can score a ippon, wazari, yuko, or koka. Ippons are the
highest you can score. An ippon is scored when you throw your opponent so that their back
completely touches the mat. Wazaris are scored when an opponent falls partially on there back, two
wazaris equal one ippon. Next are yukos and kokas. A yuko is only 5 points and is scored when an
opponent falls mostly on there side. Kokas are 3 points and are scored when an opponent falls on there
thighs or buttocks. (source for paragraph; jkajudo.tripod.com) Pins are scored based of how long it is

Analysis Of Father And I By Paar Lagerqvist
The short story is about a Sunday walk in the country taken by a young boy and his father. Written in
first person, it appears simple in nature, but it is actually a more complex story that is depicted by the
author. In his story, Father and I , Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery and symbolism to say that although as
children we have unwavering faith in our parents and that our world basically revolves around them,
at some point as we grow, we realize that there is more to life than this sheltered world. The story
begins on a perfect, bright Sunday afternoon. A father and son wave goodbye to the mother who is
preparing supper, and they head into the woods to enjoy the sounds of the birds and adventure by the
railroad tracks. As the young boy and his father are admiring the beautiful songs of the finches and
warblers, a train comes rushing along the tracks. Although the train came buzzing by quickly enough
to startle the little boy, his father saluted the familiar conductor and re established the peacefulness of
the Sunday afternoon. As dusk begins to fall, the child begins to feel uneasy about being in the
darkening woods. The young boy s fear grows, but his father remains calm and collected. Then out of
nowhere a mighty roar of a black train tore through the abyss awakening the two out of their quiet
state. The black train pierced through the night at a frantic speed and the father tells his son that he did
not recognize the driver. This added to the son s uneasiness and

Australia And Japan Expressed Their Interest Of Signing A...
Australia and Japan expressed their interest in signing a defence technology cooperation agreement
after Japanese Prime Minister Abe and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott s meeting during Abe s
visit to Australia in July (Prime Minister of Australia 2014). This is surprising for the international
society as the Japanese constitution did not allow Japan to export its military technologies until the
Japanese government s recent change to Article 9 (Nye 2014). Even though the agreement is not
signed yet, this news had attracted many attention from around the globe. There are various kinds of
explanations and analyzations on why this two states would choose to release such information at this
time. The argument for this essay would be that the defence technology cooperation agreement may be
one of the many policies that aims on making Japan a normal country, in response in the rising power
of China and the threats from Korea, so that it can play a better role in balancing regional security.
This essay will try to prove this argument by briefly introducing why Japan is not a normal country
within the international society and Prime Minister Abe s recent efforts to change this situation, how a
defence technology cooperation agreement between Australia and Japan can play a critical role on this
matter, why Japan and Australia are considering choose to sign such agreement with each other, and

Personal Statement For Marine Biology
Personal Statement
Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not
just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to
interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit
to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open minded and
passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They
always stress how sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes
sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the
long run.
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology
degree is a fifth grader s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For
example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing
coral reefs to die out which houses thousands of organisms homes and food sources. Due to the
contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day.
Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions.
Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the
way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage

Killing Reagan
Killing Reagan: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency is a book by Bill O Reilly and Martin
Dugard. The book is a biographical depiction of President Ronald Reagan, including a look at his
career as an actor, marriage to Nancy Reagan, an assassination attempt during his presidency, and
eventual physical and mental decline.
The book focuses on showcasing the nearly impossible obstacles he had to overcome in order to carry
out the duties as a man and as President of the United States. The authors wanted to create a portrait of
a great man operating in violent times , and that they did, albeit it being a bit skewed. The book is a bit
all over the place, but after the first chapter (1980 presidential debate) it follows a chronological trend,
with each chapter marking an important moment in Reagan s life. In regards to the prologue, Bill O
Reilly and Martin Dugard begin with the death of the former leader of the free world, the man who
defeated Soviet communism and ended the Cold War. Honorable tribute to Reagan indeed but the

Water Consumption On Drinking Water
Introduction The purpose for the water/food supply is to know how important it is to humans and
animals and how we can save our water/food supplies before it is too late. Having an abundant supply
of clean water and healthy food are top needs in an emergency. An ordinarily active individual needs
to take not less than two quarts which is equivalent to half gallon of water every day. Water

Water is required for various other reasons food cooking and cleaning. Importance of water Since

In this source the speaker is talking about civilizing people who are deemed uncivilized by this

referring to their own as those who have been sent out to bring these countries into some sense of

natives of their land they had landed on, to earn gold by exploiting the resources that were on the land,
and to receive glory for their travels. These europeans would claim to civilize the natives of these
lands by forcing their way of life on them. They also used assimilation to convert these people to the

Maxine Greene On Education
Who am I? is the question Maxine Greene asked, as she looked around the room, before she answered
herself: I am who I am not yet. This bold statement sums up Maxine Greene s philosophical concept
of education that stems from her self proclaimed ideas of existentialism. In this article, Greene
discusses how combining curriculum and consciousness in education can evolve into continuous
growth and rediscovery for us as educators.
Education at its best is a process of teaching people to explore ideas about themselves and the world in
which they live, to ask questions about the experience called living and to embrace ambiguity, to
notice the unusual without fear and to look upon the ordinary with new eyes.

The whole framework of our Constitution is based on what Montesquieu thought of during the

all five I have to tell you the story my chief told me forty years ago when I was your age. Now lets
begin, Long ago, before you and I were born, the sky chief ordered his son down to earth, where there
was no light at night. The sky chief s son was named Lusio which means light. Lusio s job was to find
something that would light the sky up. The great fireball in the sky only lit up the sky for half of the
day. At night, the fireball went away and the sky turned dull and black like the fur of all the black
bears in the woods. This meant that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sky chief then went to his daughter who was younger and more humble than her brother and
asked her if tomorrow she would go down and find something to light the sky. The next day the sky
chief s daughter went down to Earth. Her name was Hakidonmuya which means time of waiting. On
her way down she asked the birds flying her down if they have seen anything lighting up but they said
that they are asleep when everything glows at night. Learning from her brothers mistakes she asked a
rabbit that was hopping around, Do you know where to find something that is capable of lighting up
the night sky? The rabbit replied, You should try to find an owl. They are awake at night and can tell
you what lights up. Hakidonmuya went on a search for an owl that took her all around the world just
to find one owl. Once she found an owl she asked, Do you know of anything living or nonliving that

Gatsby spent a lot of thought on getting Daisy back, such as, the only reason he has his parties is just
the hope Daisy might come to one on page 63. He also does a lot to please her; he even built his house
to meet her likings. When Daisy finally came to Gatsby s house, he watched her the entire time to see
how she reacts to the house, she even started crying when he was showing her his shirts, Daisy says, It
makes me sad because I ve never seen such such beautiful shirts before. she would say on pages 93
and94 .You wouldn t think she is actually crying over the shirts, she maybe crying over the fact she
knows she still loves him. The biggest most romantic thing Gatsby did was take the blame for running
over Tom s mistress, Myrtle when it was Daisy who was driving the car. Was she killed? he asked Yes.
, I thought so; I told Daisy I thought so. Its better that the shock should all come at once. She stood it
pretty well. Was Daisy driving? . Yes, he said after a moment, but of course I ll say I was. You see,

Inventions in the 1920s
Essential Question: What are some of the inventions in the 1920s and how did they affect society then
and now? The 1920 s was a huge era for great inventions and technology. This period of time is
referred to as the Roaring twenties, a decade of excitement, success and determination. This era
acquired its name from the boom of thousands of ideas that were not only thought of, but brought to
life. These new advances in technology changed our lives in many ways. This was an era of great
prosperity, new innovations and creations. These inventions drastically changed people then and still
greatly affect society today. Humans wanted change and improvement, and this ... Show more content

had been around for decades, but it was not until the 1920 s that scientists perfected the advanced
technology. Many inventors came into play when it came to the various systems used to create the first
T.V., but no one is to be named the inventor. Scientists spent decades trying to find a breakthrough,
and it was not until the 21th century that it was found. Charles Francis Jenkin s system helped lead to
the first construction of the T.V. He had demonstrated a scanning system with a revolving disk, he
called it radio vision. Jenkins system worked but the images were blurry. Another inventor named
Herbert E. Ives invented his own system called the 185 line system. Philo Taylor Farnsworth was
another key inventor. In 1927, he developed the image dissector. This was the first ever working
electronic camera tube. Philo was motivated by his system and continued trying. His hard work led
him to invent the first fully electronic T.V. system. A radio corporation named the RCA, was very
intrigued by his work and sent their own engineer to Philo s lab. This engineer perfected Philo s
iconoscope; a camera tube ( History of Television ). After this perfection of the T.V., the United States
of America was changed forever. Soon after, there was a rapid growth in technology. The T.V. brought
entertainment and opened peoples eyes to the good and bad parts of American culture, through the
images and movies shown on the screen. Today, over 238 million T.V. s

both voice and data communications. It was initially developed to meet the needs of the Broadband
Integrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each ATM cell contains exactly 53 octets, 5 octets for header 48 octets for data. As a core protocol,
ATM is used in Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET)/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH),
which are backbone of Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
use Asynchronous Transfer Mode on their long distance private networks. ATMs operate at the Layer
2 (Data Link layer) of the OSI model, over fiber cable or twisted pair cable
(http://www.wanredundancy.com).
The ATM transport hierarchy is shown in the figure below. The physical layer can be divided into
three functional levels:
Transmission Path Level: This extends between network elements that assemble and disassemble the
payload of a transmission system. For end to end communication, the payload is end user information.
For user to network communication, the payload may be call control signaling information (call setup
and call termination). Cell delineation and header error control functions are required at the end points
of each transmission path.
Digital Section Level: This refers to the exchanges or signal transfer points in a network that are
involved in switching data streams.
Regenerator Section Level: This is a part of the digital section.
Virtual Channels and Virtual Paths
Logical connections in ATM are referred to as virtual channels. A virtual channel is analogous to a
virtual circuit in X.25 or a frame relay logical connection. It s

  • 2. Macro Periodization After reading the Macro Periodization paper, it surprises me how much planning and precision go into every aspect of training a athlete at Concordia. Reading the goals of the periodization really stood out to me, because these goals are what is going to lay out the overall theme of an athlete s training routine. Whether it s decreasing the risk of injury, or improving the many components that improve an athlete s performance the goals set for the training of Concordia athletes is amazingly well organized and executed. What I took from the Program Design Section of the paper, is that Concordia macro periodization is not focused on training our athletes like bodybuilders, but instead we design out programs in order to improve the performance of Concordia s athletes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final, and the most important section of the paper, the Concordia University Wisconsin Macrocycle is laid out with every detail, and generally workout concepts an athlete will participate in throughout the athletic year. After reading this portion of the paper, many parts of the macrocycle look very familiar to me, as I have already gone through them. What I took out of this that I felt was the most surprising aspect of the macrocycle, was how well thought out, and how far ahead the preparation is for the training of the university s athletes. The thing that I took out of this paper that I will try to take with me the rest of my athletic career, is that there is a lot of preparation and effort that goes into my training here, and these training programs are made for my benefit, so I should not waste the strength coach s time by not giving it my all in the weight room, or not showing up at all. But in the early 2000s, the developers turned the originally land uses to residential, recreational and commercial land use which enlarged the size of the urban areas. Besides, the economy in Hong Kong is at its peak before 1997. The demand for commercial land use was high. The property developers urged the government reclaim Victoria Harbour to obtain more land for building more commercial buildings and offices which are profitable. One of the significant example is Chek Lap Kok airport which is reclaimed from the sea to facilitate the economic growth. In the midst of attempting to give meaning to freedom, Grossman greatly invests in wrestling with the issue of why freedom is still absent within Russia although the country has seen success in many different ways. Through the idea and image of the Revolution stems Capitalism, Leninism, and Stalinism. Grossman contends that freedom is an inexorable occurrence and that to live means to be free , that it is simply the nature of human kind to be free (200 204). The lack of freedom expresses a lack of humanity in Russia, and though freedom never dies, if freedom does not exist in the first place, then it has no chance to be kept alive. The confusion at the lack of freedom in Russia despite the success the country has experienced through newly built cities, construction sites, and military victories, is exemplified by Grossman early in the novel through the use of Ivan Grigoryevich, a Russian citizen recently released from the Gulag (49). The vampire legend and many behaviors and experiences of schizophrenics seem to share many common traits. The traits that are most recognizable are fears of being enclosed, periods of semistarvation or complete starvation, which can be associated with periodic gorging, reversal of the day night cycle, and a preoccupation with or dread of mirrors (Kayton 304). Though the term schizophrenia or demence precoce was only introduced in 1852 (Boyle 43), behaviors of people affected by this illness have been documented much earlier. The concept of a dead person returning in his living physical form and feeding on the living is considered a vampire. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here is where an important part of the legend draws reference. According to Kayton, the vampire (young suicide) was known to either devour or steal the hearts of his victims. When the heart was stolen, it was placed over a fire to create an intense unfulfilled love in the bosom of the person it was taken from (307). In Dracula we sort of get that sense the three vampire women wanted this from Jonathan. Because when the Count told them that they could not have him, one of them boldly told him: You yourself never loved (55). Also, according to schizophrenic suicide history the family members who were often attacked were mainly members who showed their guilt over the oral deprivation onto the fantasized vampire (patient) with a feared oral attack (Kayton 311). That would be the logic of why the victims of the vampire are usually family members or persons they love; as we witness this with Lucy as she tried to kiss Arthur a two different occasions when she became a vampire. This theory also suggests that the parent s role is very important and their actions with the child of either showing affection or rejection when the child attempts to become close to them (McMahon 212). Besides the removal of the heart, unmistakably, the most important part of the legend is that the vampire attacks his victims by sucking out their blood. The impacts of nutrition information on advertisement of fast food chains The fast food industry in the U.S. has rapidly expanded in the past few decades (Hwang, 2013). In 2014, the industry has created a 3% current value growth, indicating its robust and continued ability in the U.S. market overall (Euromonitor, 2015). This strong increase has largely changed Americans lifestyle and eating habits; the amount of money they spend on fast food is more than that on education, readings and videos (Schlosser, 1998). Moreover, the fast food chains spent almost $500 million on cross promotion events with additional $300 million spent on premiums distribution in 2009 (Bernhardt, Wilking, Gilbert Diamond, Emond, Sargent, 2015). Indeed, by spending around $10 billion on food related ads every year, the food industry becomes the second largest advertiser in America (Bernhardt, Wilking, Gilbert Diamond, Emond, Sargent, 2015). According to a report from Fast Food Facts, the whole fast food industry spent $4.6 billion on all kinds of advertising in 2012, among which advertising spending of McDonald s was the most. Looking into the way how fast food chain advertisements are considered to be capable in influencing people s eating habits and food preferences (Bernhardt, Wilking, Gilbert Diamond, Emond, Sargent, 2015), it has been attributed to the obesity of Americans (Mink, 2006). In his story, Father and I , Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery and symbolism to say that although as children we have unwavering faith in our parents and that our world basically revolves around them, at some point as we grow, we realize that there is more to life than this sheltered world. The story begins on a perfect, bright Sunday afternoon. A father and son wave goodbye to the mother who is preparing supper, and they head into the woods to enjoy the sounds of the birds and adventure by the railroad tracks. As the young boy and his father are admiring the beautiful songs of the finches and warblers, a train comes rushing along the tracks. Although the train came buzzing by quickly enough to startle the little boy, his father saluted the familiar conductor and re established the peacefulness of the Sunday afternoon. As dusk begins to fall, the child begins to feel uneasy about being in the darkening woods. The young boy s fear grows, but his father remains calm and collected. Then out of nowhere a mighty roar of a black train tore through the abyss awakening the two out of their quiet state. Many inventors came into play when it came to the various systems used to create the first T.V., but no one is to be named the inventor. Scientists spent decades trying to find a breakthrough, and it was not until the 21th century that it was found. Charles Francis Jenkin s system helped lead to the first construction of the T.V. He had demonstrated a scanning system with a revolving disk, he called it radio vision. Jenkins system worked but the images were blurry. Another inventor named Herbert E. Ives invented his own system called the 185 line system. Philo Taylor Farnsworth was another key inventor. In 1927, he developed the image dissector. This was the first ever working electronic camera tube. Philo was motivated by his system and continued trying. His hard work led him to invent the first fully electronic T.V. system. A radio corporation named the RCA, was very intrigued by his work and sent their own engineer to Philo s lab. This engineer perfected Philo s iconoscope; a camera tube ( History of Television ). After this perfection of the T.V., the United States of America was changed forever. Soon after, there was a rapid growth in technology. The T.V. brought entertainment and opened peoples eyes to the good and bad parts of American culture, through the images and movies shown on the screen. Today, over 238 million T.V. s ... It was initially developed to meet the needs of the Broadband Integrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each ATM cell contains exactly 53 octets, 5 octets for header 48 octets for data. As a core protocol, ATM is used in Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET)/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), which are backbone of Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use Asynchronous Transfer Mode on their long distance private networks. ATMs operate at the Layer 2 (Data Link layer) of the OSI model, over fiber cable or twisted pair cable (http://www.wanredundancy.com). The ATM transport hierarchy is shown in the figure below. The physical layer can be divided into three functional levels: Transmission Path Level: This extends between network elements that assemble and disassemble the payload of a transmission system. For end to end communication, the payload is end user information. For user to network communication, the payload may be call control signaling information (call setup and call termination). Cell delineation and header error control functions are required at the end points of each transmission path. Digital Section Level: This refers to the exchanges or signal transfer points in a network that are involved in switching data streams. Regenerator Section Level: This is a part of the digital section. Virtual Channels and Virtual Paths Logical connections in ATM are referred to as virtual channels. A virtual channel is analogous to a virtual circuit in X.25 or a frame relay logical connection. It s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
