2. My research topic is...
My research is going to be discussing if participation in college sports negatively
influences your academic performance in the U.S. In my previous post I dove into
what I intend to cover about this topic. I will be investigating the academic
performance of college athletes and how they’re able to handle the obligations of
their respected sports team. I also want to know if there are some athletes who
have been able to see past these assumed circumstances and have done well
academically or are doing good.

3. History of Collegiate Athletes and Academic
Performance
The issue behind this topic is if college athletes participating in sports have a
negative effect in their school work. This may not always be the case because
some of them may not even have an option to control how much they’re required
to practice. The issue has been common amongst athletes since the introduction
of college sports.

4. Questions I Have about Collegiate Athletes and
their Academic Performance
1. How well do you think you are doing in most of your classes?
2. Do you find pressure being applied to you because of your responsibilities in
your sports field and in your academics?
3. When do you find time to focus on your school work and studying time?
4. Have there been times when you wanted to give up on playing sports
because of the academic workload?

5. A Viewpoint about Collegiate Athletes and their
Academic Performance I disagree with...
Given that college athletes have a lot of responsibilities to handle, I don’t agree
that their participation in sports is a necessary hindrance to their academic
prowess and performance in school. I also don’t agree with the “dumb jock”
stereotype that is mostly associated with college athletes. I believe that if
athletes have the opportunity to balance their schedules and organize their study
habits then they’ll succeed academically.
