The Principle Of Social Justice And Advocacy Support...
Introduction
A culturally safe care is defined as what is felt or experienced by a patient when a healthcare provider
communicates with the patient... (Bickford, 2015). Social justice lists the rights of all people in our
community which are to consider to be fair and equitable (Social Justice Principles, 2003). These
rights are justified through equity, fairness and equality in marginalized groups of society that can be
visualized in the healthcare system. The basic principles of social justice, which promotes safe care,
are as follows: equity, access, participation and rights (Social Justice Principles, 2003). Social
advocacy plays a vital role to help nurses promote safe care by safeguarding patient autonomy, acting
on behalf of patient, and championing social justice (Mackey, 2015). The following paper will
describe how the principle of social justice and advocacy support culturally safe care regarding the
Aboriginal people and women in Canada.
Social Determinants
To understand cultural safe care is therefore important to understand the history of oneself. The
authors explain in the article Cultural Safety (Brascoupé Waters, 2009) that cultural safe care is the
concept to express an approach to the health care that recognizes the contemporary conditions of
aboriginal people which results from their post contact history (Pp 6). The past history of Aboriginal
people of Canada illustrates that the First Nations have gone through a lot of trauma such as
colonization

Inventions Of Alexander Graham Bell
ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL
History ISU June 16, 2017
By: Andrew Monaghan In Edinburgh, Scotland, his parents, Melville and Eliza Grace Bell gave birth
to Alexander Graham Bell on March 3, 1847 (Ross, 8). He would later immigrate to Canada in 1870
settling in Brantford, Ontario (Britannica.com). His mother was a portrait painter and an accomplished
musician and his father taught deaf people to speak (World Book Encyclopedia, 240). His parents
accomplishments influenced him as an inventor (World Book Encyclopedia, 240). Alexander Graham
Bell s invention of the telephone, his creation of the photophone, and his development of the electrical
bullet probe made him one of Canada s most prominent inventors. Alexander Graham Bell is probably
best known for his invention of the telephone. In 1870, he worked with his father as a speech therapist
for the deaf in Brantford, Ontario and this led him to work with how sound was transmitted and
received (thecanadianencyclopedia.ca). The word telephone comes from the Greek words meaning far
sound (Ross, 24). The telegraph itself was a device created by a number of different scientists which
involved passing electrical signals down a wire (Ross, 10). It was this telegraph that led Bell to first
begin experiments for the telephone in 1872 (World Book Encyclopedia, 240). Originally, Bell did not
try the transmission of speech electrically; however, on a single wire he attempted to send multiple
telegraph messages all at once. (World Book

The Value Rates Policy ( Nirp ) Which Are Been Adopted...
The measure taken to lower interest rates below zero, constitutes the negative interest rates policy
(NIRP) which are been adopted with a price stability objective. In ensuring stability of prices Central
Banks aim for low inflation rates. Despite, the aim for low inflation, the rates need to be significantly
below but also close to 2 percent. The European Central Bank (ECB) influences inflation by effecting
changes on the interest rates. Even so, despite the risk of conflating the nominal lower bound, not
going below the zero percentage mark and with inflation remaining relatively low the real rates would
then not fall further. In consideration of the fact that the euro area deposit rate was already at the zero
percent mark, and the refinancing rate at 0.25 percent, cutting the refinancing rate will demand a push
the deposit rate to negative territory. Therefore, to sustain the functionality of the money market the
ECB had to push the deposit rate to 0.10 per cent to maintain the corridor after lowering the
refinancing rate to 0.15 percent (Benoit). Subsequently, in January 2016, Bank of Japan (BOJ)
adopted a monetary easing policy imposing negative rates (Kuroda). With Japan looking to encourage
more lending and spur high spending to push inflation the negative interest rate of 0.1 percent was set.
In a 2016 progressive report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) explains that, when low interest
rates prolong over the long term they reflect diminished

Picking a Prototyping Design Tool for the Car Checker...
Introduction There is a bunch of various design tools that can based used to make medium fidelity
prototypes for software user interfaces. However, there are not that many prototyping design tools that
can effectively prototype a mobile application and the Car Checker android application is one of those
applications. The search for a usable design tool to design a medium fidelity prototype for the car
checker android application has been narrowed down to three software candidates. The three software
prototyping tool choices are Dia, WireFrame.CC, and JustInMind Prototyper. One note to be
mentioned, the versions of the prototyping software that are being evaluated for the purpose of the
report are the free versions of the prototyping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the mobile device s limitations in their functional and computing power, that will result in a
smaller screen in order to display the mobile device s interface, and Smartphones will fall into the
category of mobile devices. Anthony Wasserman (2010) discusses user interface design on mobile
applications in his paper as, With the challenge of making the best possible use of limited screen
space, user interface design takes on greater importance than ever. (Page 399) This is an important
idea to be taken into account when the car checker application is in development, even in its
prototyping stages. Wasserman also discusses the importance of user interface design in the mobile
application and compares it to a web application as, Mobile users are often seeking to quickly
complete a simple task, and can t take advantage of the full range of functionality provided by a
traditional Web application. (2010, Page 399). Mobile applications, especially the car checker
Smartphone application, must be designed in a way that it accommodates the needs of the users who
are using the application, and it must be done with limited functionality and a limited screen for the
user interface to fit into a user s Smartphone. The choice of a prototyping tool must take into account
that the Car Checker Android application will

Events from the 1960s
The 1960s is a decade filled with a series of remarkable and significant events that still resonate today.
From the charismatic John F. Kennedy winning the nation s highest office to Vietnam War, the 1960s
was a decade of transformational changes (Whithaus, 2004). Adding to this transformation were a host
of technological breakthroughs.
For the first time in American history a presidential political debate, between John F. Kennedy and
Richard Nixon, was aired on TV. In 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered by Jack Ruby on camera.
Furthermore, in 1965 the first instant replay added a new dimension to sports coverage. In 1967, all
three major network shows were broadcasted in color. Finally, in 1969, television televises men on the

Today, computers are found everywhere and people rely upon them for travel directions,
entertainment, purchasing products, and social interactions.
I became interested in computers during the early 1990s and it happened right in my house. Within my
community no one really knew what a programmer was or how to become one. At first, programmers
were the engineers the circuits and processors. In April 1990, I volunteered to help my brother, a
Computer Information Systems major at UTPA, to program the IBM 1401. I was 13 years old, had
graduated from high school five years later, and decided to study the field of computers, specifically
information technology (IT). In today s high tech world, virtually every business needs computer
networking professionals to set up and maintain an in office network (Irvine, 2011). This includes a
variety of tasks such as engineering the network infrastructure, administering Windows systems and
maintaining an email system (Irvine, 2011).
These jobs were made possible because of the development of computers. Computers provides me
with a variety of career paths, stability, and more importantly higher pay. According to the United
States Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer networking is expected to outpace the
average for all occupations, adding 286,600 new jobs within the decade of 2008 to 2018 (Irvine,
2011). Because of the growing need for

Neoliberalism Research Paper
Canada s previous conservative government signed a lucrative deal that would see the country export
$15 billion worth of light armored vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia. It is pertinent to note that Saudi
Arabia performs exemplarily poorly when it comes to observing human rights. The deal was struck
between the conservative government and Saudi Arabian National Guard, which mainly protects the
royal family. With a past record of consistently mistreating citizens with unpopular views, there is
little guarantee that the arms sale will not be used to violate innocent civilians human rights in the
future. Intriguingly, the current liberal government has declared its unwillingness to suspend the
shipment. This paper explores realist and neo liberal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the government has consistently failed to associate the sale of light armored vehicles with
possible escalation of human rights violation in the future. Instead, the government has chosen to
emphasize the significant economic gains that come with the huge deal. Canada gains enormously
from its relationship with Saudi Arabia. Firstly, Saudi Arabia is one of the key economies in the
Middle East. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering the fact that it is
Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a result of this there is
a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for International Trade Canada (ITC). It is
worth appreciating the fact that the Canada and its allies perceive the Middle East nation as a
gradually stabilizing force. The fact that the light armored vehicles are made in Canada means that
they are a key source employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains why the conservative
government is reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of contributing to

Narcissistic Personality Disorder Essay example
Narcissism is the inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self love; vanity. The term, narcissism
comes, of course, from the Greek myth of Narcissus. Narcissus shunned all the other nymphs until one
of them prayers to the goddess of love and made a request that someday narcissus would feel the joy
and pain of love. The goddess granted the wish to the nymph and narcissus soon would understand the
joy and pain of love. Narcissus went to get a drink of water and saw the most the most beautiful face
that he had ever seen; he plunged in to kiss the face but could because it was his own reflection.

Temperamental breakdowns are also a very a common symptom of people with a narcissistic
personality. They are prone to extreme mood swings between self admiration and insecurity; these
people tend to exploit interpersonal relationships. It is more likely for narcissistic behavior to develop
in a male/female in their teens or young adult hood. Most narcissistic patients are so young and they
don t realize that they have a personality disorder. Family and friends must realize that Narcissism is
not preventable and it s a disorder that must be dealt with care and sensitivity. It is not best for the
family of the patient to take it upon themselves to try and cure the patient but to go to a health
professional. Why? Professionals know best. It is possible that families can get opposite effect of what
is expected. The patient may feel overwhelmed; especially a teenage patient who might not be stable
enough to handle the help of their family. Coming on too strong is never a key; if the patient feels like
they re being attacked then they will retaliate. Lashing out, rebelling and hurting themselves is not
uncommon. Cutting is often away to hurt more than themselves. In a Narcissistic patients mind they re
getting back at the person who cares about them but is making them feel attacked when really they re
just finding a reason to deal with their insecurities by inflicting pain on their body. This is a non
preventable disorder. The patient must never be blamed because it may

A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller
A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller A View from the Bridge is a 1950 s play written by Arthur
Miller. It follows the same structure as an Ancient Greek tragedy, where the main actor and in this
case Eddie Carbone falls to a tragic and yet a predictable inflicted death. I will be explaining the
difference in culture between America and Italy and how this could have affected the outcome of the
play. The play A View from the Bridge was written by Arthur Miller and is set in Brooklyn America.

Rodolpho because Rodolpho can have Catherine. Catherine loves Rodolpho in a way that she can

what being a man is about. Italian American masculine belief of what being a man is about; this is

The Different Organs Of The Cardiovascular System
The Cardiovascular system, also known as the circulatory system, includes the heart and its vessels.
Its purpose is to circulate blood throughout the body and its cells, delivering needed substances and
removing waste. The different organs of the cardiovascular system include the heart and its blood
vessels, which are capillaries, arteries and veins. There are two parts to the cardiovascular system,
pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation. Pulmonary circulation is between the heart and the
lungs. The heart sends deoxygenated blood out the right ventricle through the left pulmonary artery,
into the lungs. The lungs then oxygenate the blood and send it back to the heart through the right
pulmonary artery. The oxygenated blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The heart is divided in half by the septum and has four chambers; right and left atria s and the right
and left ventricles. The heart also has four values to ensure the blood flows throughout the chambers
properly these are called the; tricuspid valve, mitral valve, pulmonary valve and the aortic valve. All
of those are surrounded by the thick wall of the heart with three layers. The endocardium is the inner
smooth layer surrounding each chamber. The myocardium is the thick muscular middle layer, the
muscular wall of this layer allows the heart to contract and pump the blood. The epicardium layer is
the outer layer of the heart. Since the heart is a muscle it also needs its own supply of the blood
circulating around it. Once the blood is oxygenated and travels through the aortic valve. There are two
sets of arteries, the left main coronary artery and the right coronary artery, that bring the blood back
around through the heart muscle. Blockage to any of these arteries will trigger a myocardial infarction,
commonly known as a heart attack. A heart attack will occur when the flow of oxygenated blood is
blocked, stopping the muscle from receiving oxygen. Blockage to your coronary arteries most
commonly occurs due to plaque buildup over time. If left untreated that part of the muscle will die.
Warning signs and symptoms of a heart attack can occur days, even weeks in before the heart attack.

Why I Want To Pursue A Master Of Science Degree
Education is not preparation for life; Education is life for itself.
These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It relates
to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what lies within
the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how little I have
learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before me, yet to be
explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by the fundamentals
and practical skills acquired during one s lifetime. So my main goal is to design the next generation
innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and findings. So I intend to
pursue Master of Science degree in Automotive software Engineering at your university as the first
step towards obtaining a PHD.
Nothing is Impossible in Life has always been a motivating force behind all my achievements. I
strongly believe that enjoy what we do and having the passion to pursue, we can ultimately achieve
our destination, no matter how much efforts are needed. My inherent urge and interest to pursue
engineering emanates from an instinctive inclination for Physics and Mathematics since my schooling.
From early childhood, I was very captivated with electronic appliances around me. I would ask my
parents about their principle of working. I always tried to find out what basic elements and

Mindfulness And Drama Therapy Association
Mindfulness and Drama Jashuko Kwong Roshi states that original mindfulness is the actualization of
humanity s inherent basic goodness, it is creatively joined with the new therapies and offers a stream
of helping and compassionate services for something very old (Rappaport, 2013, p.1). The North
American Drama Therapy Association defines drama as the intentional use of drama, and or theater
process to achieve therapeutic goals (North American Drama Association, 2016). Drama therapy is
both experiential and active, this particular approach to therapy can provide the context for the
participants to tell their stories, set goals, solve problems, express feelings or achieve catharsis unlike
talk therapy, drama therapy gets there at a rapid pace. Role playing, which allows one to act out issues
and problems is reportedly more effective than talking (Landy, 2016). Mindfulness Meditation serves
as a compliment to drama therapy, and many of the skills sets and approaches that are developed
through the form of art can actually be utilized in everyday life. Skills such as concentration,
acceptance, openness, and loving kindness are each contributors to the body of drama therapy work as
well as the overall effectiveness of the therapy (Rappaport, 2013, p. 27). Mindfulness can be used as a
tool that can not only be used in therapy, but in the classroom as well. Drama games and storytelling

Why Has The World Changed At The End Of The Twentieth Century
Outrage Causes Democracy There are many reasons why the world completely changed at the end of
the Twentieth Century. The main reasons why the world changed is because of major events and
dictators that influenced the world to change. These events included the loss of power of Philippines
dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, and dictator Jean Claude of Haiti (Kenney 1). This was a major
coincidence that showed the rest of the world how great the countries looked because of new
democratic governments that took to power and showcased joyous crowds and removal of repression
(Kenney 1). At least 20 30 countries in the 1980s rapidly changed their ways to democratic
governments. The years surrounding 1989 were the most important for Democratic Revolutions is
because the world finally opened their eyes. Many countries finally caught onto the repression they
had been facing for years and had enough. Two countries that were part of this Revolution were The
Philippines and South Africa. The Philippines was a country ruled by dictator Ferdinand Marcos from
1917 1989 (Kenney 78). Many things could have happened to prevent Marcos from continuing his

Modeled Reading Through Shared Reading
Modeled reading is often explained as the process of reading aloud, such as a teacher reading aloud to
students or students reading aloud to each other (Sipe, 2002). However, the modelling process of the
balanced literacy philosophy should be more than simply a teacher reading aloud to students or
students reading aloud to each other as a class. Instead, modelling should involve teachers
demonstrating the action of engaging with a text. For example, a teacher might engage in modelling
by showing students the cover to a book and explaining how he or she can predictions about the

Summary Of The Short Existence Of Francis Macomber
Ernest Hemingway has made a magnum opus of various mystery in his story The Short Existence of
Francis Macomber . The riddle does not reveal itself to the pursuer until the very closure of the story,
yet it leaves a lot of creative energy. Around the finish of this story Margaret Macomber butchers her
significant other unexpectedly, she tries to spare him from being battered by extensive Bison while
they were on a safari in Africa. The mystery is paying little respect to whether the killing was
inadvertent, or purposeful. It was purposeful, they would have many proof in the story to give you a
reasonable intention too.
What makes this riddle uncommon is that Hemingway gives the pursuer different events that would
lead the pursuer to devise a commendable rationale, yet human impulse tells the pursuer that this
executing couldn t have been deliberate. From a just target investigation of the story, the pursuer
would see altogether additionally supporting the theory of a deliberate executing rather than a
coincidental one. The snippets of data supporting Margaret executed Francis intentionally can best be
seen when watching and focus the foundation information on both Francis Macomber, and Margaret
herself. (Hemingway 1402). What is in like manner key is that Margot and Francis have altogether
different personalities. This is doubtlessly watched when the storyteller states, (Hemingway 1402).
With this little measure of foundation data, the intention in a deliberate

Using Our Reading on Anthony Downs for a Class Discussion...
In this weeks Anthony Downs reading we were able to use the knowledge we have gained about the
structure of institutions so far from our discussions and texts and apply it to voting in politics. In An
Economic Theory of Democracy Downs focused on the calculus behind voting and voter turnout to
draw the conclusion that there is no point in voting. When Downs was explaining the reasoning
behind voting he spoke of the utility income that the government provides to us; these benefits of
utilities are the incentives that should determine the way that we vote and show its importance. Using
the idea of looking to maximize utilities to determine how you vote was a fascinating idea to me and
make me question he inefficiencies that exist in voting today that cause people to vote based on
different reasons. So the irrational ways we base our voting decisions on (instead of utility) is what I
primarily focus on as these voting habits show how citizens vote off superficial issues, not campaign
platforms.
If we are going to pay the costs of spending our time to go cast a vote, register, understand the
candidate options, and pay for the gas to drive to the poles it makes sense to make the best choice you
possibly can; to do so Downs recommends voting for the candidate that will provide you the most
utility. I think Downs should have also included something about the benefit to society as too much
personal interest and a lack of common concern will lead to personal benefit being

Essay about Fine Quality Baroque Music in the Era of...
Baroque music is the western music art style that was composed in the era of Renaissance, that is,
between 1600 and 1750. Music at any given period reflects tendencies, impulses and influences that
are found in art of other kinds of the same period. Therefore the name baroque also applied to the
architecture, literature and art in the same period. Baroque has in the past and to some degree in the
present had the implications of abnormality, grotesqueness and absurdity. But in its applications to
music in the Renaissance period the term baroque does not have connotations that are pejorative
because much of the music composed in this period is of high and fine quality (Swain, 7).
The instruments that are used for baroque music even now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The performer however should be guided by some factors that help them know what instrument to use
where and what sound to get from what instrument (Donington, 131).
One, the performer should be able to distinguish indications that are scanty for the instruments that the
notations may be showing. In that all the instruments that the performer is using fit in the kind of that
they are playing. They should also look out for the effects of the musician that may need working on
for the actual performance (Donington, 131).
Two, as much as it is the responsibility of the performer to choose the instruments, looking up for
alternative instruments that are listed is important. That way, if there is an instrument that is missing,
the performer should always be able to get an alternative. This also suitable when the there are many
instruments needed, the alternative instruments can be used interchangeably (Donington, 131).
Three, the notion that instruments that are suitable are acceptable may not always work. A performer
should understand that every instrument is made for a specific use and should be the only use it must
be put to. That is, it would be impossible to use an instrument and try to make it sound in a particular
way. The distinctions were made in the baroque era as much as they do now (Donington, 131). Every
instrument in baroque music should be used to what it really is designed to, this is to make sure that

A Nursing Perspective
Nurses are expected to provide care for their patients in their most vulnerable state of illness by giving
them medications, changing dressings, taking vitals and providing them with preventive education.
Yet it is emotionally, physically and spiritually demanding for the nurse to provide patients with
palliative care at their end of life state. As a result, it is important for researchers to investigate and
gather data emphasizing the importance of providing palliative care to patients from a nursing
perspective. In this paper, we will be analyzing the research article titled Living with Dying in the
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Nursing Perspective by Debbie Stayer and Joan Such Lockhart. The
analysis and understanding of the article will consist in describing six critical components which are
the statement of the phenomenon of interest, the purpose, the method used, the sampling, the data

Rock And Roll Music Genre Analysis
Q1: Of all the genres studied this semester, list 3 that you feel have been the most socially/politically
influential over time. Back up your choices with reasons and examples?
While many genres have been substantially influential over time both socially and politically, I feel
that rock and roll genre, country music genre, and African American roots genre.
Rock and Roll Music Genre
This genre s popularity has in time resulted in immense influence thus greatly impacting the society in
facets such as the daily lives of individuals, the language, fashion, and attitudes. In fact, the genre s
influence on social development can only be equaled by a few other music genres. Rock and roll
music enabled the blending of white and black music essentially bringing down the racial boundaries
in the 1950s which resulted and encouraged the racial desegregation of the 1960s. Additionally, the
American racial civil movements that occurred in the 1960s were greatly influenced by this music
genre. More so, people especially young teenagers were greatly influenced by the genre as well as the
celebrities themselves, which led to a new style of fashion altogether. Apart from this, rock and roll
music would result to more people understanding the core importance of education in dealing with
social problems such as racism and poverty.
Country Music Genre
Country music genre has been associated with the American culture for a long time, in fact, the music
has significance socially in that it has

Count Of Monte Cristo Betrayal
Many people betray Dantès, the protagonist in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
Those who betray Edmond are motivated by jealousy and hatred. It is ironic how many characters in

Dantès thinks are his friends betray him and send him to prison but, he manages to escape and take on
a new look and personality with a newly acquired fortune, but the betrayal does not stop there. His

The Importance Of Academic Delinquency
For several years, a steady thread within the juvenile justice literature has addressed low academic
attainment (Cottle, Lee, Heilbrun, 2001): educational failure, faculty disciplinary exclusion, and
dropout predict teens delinquency and crime; educational achievement is a buffer for juvenile crime
(Foley, 2001). even though results related to high faculty dropout encompass increased rates of
unemployment, substance abuse, and criminal pastime, only 15% of kids served by means of the
juvenile justice system graduate with a high school degree (Stanard, 2003). Conversely, academic
attainment is critical for eventual gainful employment, task pride, more social capital (Andres
Grayson, 2003), and decrease recidivism (Zgoba, Haugebrook, Jenkins, 2008). the overall trouble of
low educational achievement has many reasons, amongst that s the failure to understand when a
adolescents should qualify for special education status.
Low success and its connection to special training status isn t completely understood. A steady
concern in JJ settings, special training popularity isn t always a dependable indicator of delinquency.
The unique schooling rate for JJ populations, about 35% (Kvarfordt, Purcell, Shannon, 2005), is well
above the approximate 13% countrywide rate of special schooling service delivery in public faculties
(countrywide center for education statistics, 2010). while the average age of the adjudicated
adolescents is 15 years (about 9th 10th grade), the common studying level is 4th grade or decrease
(Vacca, 2008). educational skill level, and who does no longer qualify for or obtain appropriate special
training offerings, can be more crucial school primarily based indicators of delinquency threat than
special education status.
But, the individual student isn t the only subject; faculty environments with excessive retention, low
attendance, useless behavioral control, low instructor educational ability, and reactive and punitive
subject strategies are associated with academic failure, suspension, and dropout (Christle, Jolivette,
Nelson, 2005). In light of the massive literature base and consensus that academic failure and faculty
based risks promote negative outcomes, the paucity of statistics

Since 1913, Clorox has had a reputation of leading the industry with its products.
This situational analysis includes industry forces, company statistics and financial information, a list
of environmental factors that deal with how the company operates, and competitor information.
Industry Forces
The Clorox Company does business within the industry of Nondurable Goods; especially relevant to
the product of Disinfecting Wipes, the company is associated with the sub industry of Household
Products. Two significant forces should be considered when examining the industry and individual
companies within this industry: innovation and competition.
Threat of Substitutes and Innovation
The threat of substitutes for the Household Products of the Nondurables Industry is high. As
mentioned before, each company produces a product that is very similar to its competitors. Customers
also have high bargaining power in that they can buy substitute products such as paper towels and
disinfecting sprays. If a company does not spend time and effort marketing its products, consumers
will not be able to differentiate them from a competitor.

Gun Ownership In Early America Summary
In the article Gun Ownership in Early America: A Survey of Manuscript Militia Returns by Robert
Churchill, he discusses how gun ownership in the early 18th and 19th centuries was scarce and at
times the armed militias were the only people who had guns at all. It was because of this that the
government made gun ownership exceptional. This is different from today when gun ownership is
everywhere. Due to the high concentration of guns sometimes it is hard to count how many are sold in
the United States every year. To learn that guns, at one time, were almost non existent is almost hard
to believe. In the article, the author talks about Michael Bellesiles a historian who first wrote on gun
ownership in America in 1996. Bellesiles was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the 18th and 19th centuries, the government today is much against gun ownership. So much so
that they have enacted gun control laws that would take all guns away from American citizens.
Though guns can be dangerous in the wrong hands, Americans have the right to bear arms. To take
gun ownership away would mean destroying the Constitutional right of every American. Instead of
gun control everyone that buys a gun they should undergo an intense back ground check and be
required to attend gun ownership classes to learn how to safely use the weapon. In the article it is
stated that most guns in the 18th and 19th centuries were owned by younger men and boys. This
would suggest that younger men in those centuries were more mature than those of today. Back then
people had to fend for themselves because money was not as prevalent as it is today, so owning a gun
was more of a necessity. Now when younger people possess a fire arm the outcome is more violent.
The damage inflicted by young people with guns in the last decade has been some of the worst
America has ever witnessed. The Sandy Hook shooting being the most recent string of school related
gun violence. In the 18th and 19th centuries, this type of behavior was never recorded, but the
population was sparser and children then did not have violent videogames, TV

Ida Tarbell s Influence On American History
Ida Tarbell Throughout her lifetime, Ida Tarbell served as an outspoken, strong willed and
controversial figure in American History. Her harsh exposés of the Standard Oil Company in McClure
s magazine, later culminated into The History of the Standard Oil Company (1904) earned her
volumes of attention as an investigative journalist, also known as a muckraker . As a Progressive Era
reformer she acted out of her appetite to change society, and in her case, squash trusts which were
hurting America s independent businesses. Directed by her father s experience of being driven out of
the oil business by the Standard Oil Company as well as her persistent persona, Tarbell was able to
disclose Rockefeller s corrupt trust through her incessant investigations leading to general awareness
of corporate trusts and a major supreme court ruling utilizing the Sherman Antitrust Act. Above all,
Ida Tarbell s ruthless muckraking resulted in society s awareness of toxic trusts and Rockefeller s
Standard Oil Company to be crushed. Tarbell s first hand experience of her father s oil tank business
failure due to the Standard Oil Company s scheming set her up for her major success as a muckraker
later in her career.

Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion
The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their
respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and political
order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century, Virginia s
quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the consumption of dirty
water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and indentured servants were
finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement in quality of life, Virginia s
economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was being controlled by men using it to
gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and high taxes. In addition to the economy
forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of society, there was no good land in Virginia
for them to expand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advertisements Exploiting Children
Are current practises of advertising to children exploitative? What restrictions should be placed on
advertising to children?
Up until recently, parents had been the intended target audience for advertising efforts aimed for
children of young age groups. However it is now the children who have become the main focus. The
growth in advertising channels reaching children and the privatisation of children s media use have
resulted in a dramatic increase in advertising directly intended for the eyes and ears of children
(Wilcox et al. 2004). It is estimated that advertisers spend more than $12 billion a year on the youth
market with more than 40,000 commercials each year. The current practises of advertising to young
children definitely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore research on the language of advertisements, while used to promote products, may be
purposefully constructed to confuse younger children at lower levels of cognitive development.
Simple correlation research in the US indicates that children typically aged 2 6 years who view more
television advertising request more products from their parents. This is known as pester power. It has
been found that parents are more likely to buy products when kids ask for them in the shop (nag
factor). As children age, they develop the cognitive capacity to contextualise and act critically on the
observations made, reducing the amount of requests for products (Australian Communications and
Media Authority, 2007). Children who are exposed to TV commercials for toys not only develop the
initial idea for the toy but repeatedly pester their parents to buy it. This is exploitation on the parents
behalf as it often causes parent child conflict when the parents deny their children the product (Wilcox
et al. 2004).
Another troubling issue relating to child advertising exploitation is in reference to food ads. Half of
the advertisements in the UK directed at children concern food. There are little ads emphasising
healthy eating and since the start of television advertising, the largest proportion of ads aimed at
children has always been unhealthy food products (Gunter, Oates amp; Blades 2005). The Australian
Communications and Media Authority (2007) detailed the

  • 2. The Principle Of Social Justice And Advocacy Support... Introduction A culturally safe care is defined as what is felt or experienced by a patient when a healthcare provider communicates with the patient... (Bickford, 2015). Social justice lists the rights of all people in our community which are to consider to be fair and equitable (Social Justice Principles, 2003). These rights are justified through equity, fairness and equality in marginalized groups of society that can be visualized in the healthcare system. The basic principles of social justice, which promotes safe care, are as follows: equity, access, participation and rights (Social Justice Principles, 2003). Social advocacy plays a vital role to help nurses promote safe care by safeguarding patient autonomy, acting on behalf of patient, and championing social justice (Mackey, 2015). The following paper will describe how the principle of social justice and advocacy support culturally safe care regarding the Aboriginal people and women in Canada. Social Determinants To understand cultural safe care is therefore important to understand the history of oneself. The authors explain in the article Cultural Safety (Brascoupé Waters, 2009) that cultural safe care is the concept to express an approach to the health care that recognizes the contemporary conditions of aboriginal people which results from their post contact history (Pp 6). The past history of Aboriginal people of Canada illustrates that the First Nations have gone through a lot of trauma such as colonization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Inventions Of Alexander Graham Bell ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL History ISU June 16, 2017 By: Andrew Monaghan In Edinburgh, Scotland, his parents, Melville and Eliza Grace Bell gave birth to Alexander Graham Bell on March 3, 1847 (Ross, 8). He would later immigrate to Canada in 1870 settling in Brantford, Ontario (Britannica.com). His mother was a portrait painter and an accomplished musician and his father taught deaf people to speak (World Book Encyclopedia, 240). His parents accomplishments influenced him as an inventor (World Book Encyclopedia, 240). Alexander Graham Bell s invention of the telephone, his creation of the photophone, and his development of the electrical bullet probe made him one of Canada s most prominent inventors. Alexander Graham Bell is probably best known for his invention of the telephone. In 1870, he worked with his father as a speech therapist for the deaf in Brantford, Ontario and this led him to work with how sound was transmitted and received (thecanadianencyclopedia.ca). The word telephone comes from the Greek words meaning far sound (Ross, 24). The telegraph itself was a device created by a number of different scientists which involved passing electrical signals down a wire (Ross, 10). It was this telegraph that led Bell to first begin experiments for the telephone in 1872 (World Book Encyclopedia, 240). Originally, Bell did not try the transmission of speech electrically; however, on a single wire he attempted to send multiple telegraph messages all at once. (World Book ... • 4. The Value Rates Policy ( Nirp ) Which Are Been Adopted... The measure taken to lower interest rates below zero, constitutes the negative interest rates policy (NIRP) which are been adopted with a price stability objective. In ensuring stability of prices Central Banks aim for low inflation rates. Despite, the aim for low inflation, the rates need to be significantly below but also close to 2 percent. The European Central Bank (ECB) influences inflation by effecting changes on the interest rates. Even so, despite the risk of conflating the nominal lower bound, not going below the zero percentage mark and with inflation remaining relatively low the real rates would then not fall further. In consideration of the fact that the euro area deposit rate was already at the zero percent mark, and the refinancing rate at 0.25 percent, cutting the refinancing rate will demand a push the deposit rate to negative territory. Therefore, to sustain the functionality of the money market the ECB had to push the deposit rate to 0.10 per cent to maintain the corridor after lowering the refinancing rate to 0.15 percent (Benoit). Subsequently, in January 2016, Bank of Japan (BOJ) adopted a monetary easing policy imposing negative rates (Kuroda). With Japan looking to encourage more lending and spur high spending to push inflation the negative interest rate of 0.1 percent was set. In a 2016 progressive report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) explains that, when low interest rates prolong over the long term they reflect diminished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Picking a Prototyping Design Tool for the Car Checker... Introduction There is a bunch of various design tools that can based used to make medium fidelity prototypes for software user interfaces. However, there are not that many prototyping design tools that can effectively prototype a mobile application and the Car Checker android application is one of those applications. The search for a usable design tool to design a medium fidelity prototype for the car checker android application has been narrowed down to three software candidates. The three software prototyping tool choices are Dia, WireFrame.CC, and JustInMind Prototyper. With the mobile device s limitations in their functional and computing power, that will result in a smaller screen in order to display the mobile device s interface, and Smartphones will fall into the category of mobile devices. Anthony Wasserman (2010) discusses user interface design on mobile applications in his paper as, With the challenge of making the best possible use of limited screen space, user interface design takes on greater importance than ever. (Page 399) This is an important idea to be taken into account when the car checker application is in development, even in its prototyping stages. Wasserman also discusses the importance of user interface design in the mobile application and compares it to a web application as, Mobile users are often seeking to quickly complete a simple task, and can t take advantage of the full range of functionality provided by a traditional Web application. (2010, Page 399). Mobile applications, especially the car checker Smartphone application, must be designed in a way that it accommodates the needs of the users who are using the application, and it must be done with limited functionality and a limited screen for the user interface to fit into a user s Smartphone. • 6. Events from the 1960s The 1960s is a decade filled with a series of remarkable and significant events that still resonate today. From the charismatic John F. Kennedy winning the nation s highest office to Vietnam War, the 1960s was a decade of transformational changes (Whithaus, 2004). Adding to this transformation were a host of technological breakthroughs. For the first time in American history a presidential political debate, between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, was aired on TV. In 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered by Jack Ruby on camera. Furthermore, in 1965 the first instant replay added a new dimension to sports coverage. Today, computers are found everywhere and people rely upon them for travel directions, entertainment, purchasing products, and social interactions. I became interested in computers during the early 1990s and it happened right in my house. Within my community no one really knew what a programmer was or how to become one. At first, programmers were the engineers the circuits and processors. In April 1990, I volunteered to help my brother, a Computer Information Systems major at UTPA, to program the IBM 1401. I was 13 years old, had graduated from high school five years later, and decided to study the field of computers, specifically information technology (IT). In today s high tech world, virtually every business needs computer networking professionals to set up and maintain an in office network (Irvine, 2011). This includes a variety of tasks such as engineering the network infrastructure, administering Windows systems and maintaining an email system (Irvine, 2011). These jobs were made possible because of the development of computers. Computers provides me with a variety of career paths, stability, and more importantly higher pay. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer networking is expected to outpace the average for all occupations, adding 286,600 new jobs within the decade of 2008 to 2018 (Irvine, 2011). • 7. Neoliberalism Research Paper Canada s previous conservative government signed a lucrative deal that would see the country export $15 billion worth of light armored vehicles (LAVs) to Saudi Arabia. It is pertinent to note that Saudi Arabia performs exemplarily poorly when it comes to observing human rights. The deal was struck between the conservative government and Saudi Arabian National Guard, which mainly protects the royal family. With a past record of consistently mistreating citizens with unpopular views, there is little guarantee that the arms sale will not be used to violate innocent civilians human rights in the future. Intriguingly, the current liberal government has declared its unwillingness to suspend the shipment. This paper explores realist and neo liberal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the government has consistently failed to associate the sale of light armored vehicles with possible escalation of human rights violation in the future. Instead, the government has chosen to emphasize the significant economic gains that come with the huge deal. Canada gains enormously from its relationship with Saudi Arabia. Firstly, Saudi Arabia is one of the key economies in the Middle East. In addition to that, Saudi Arabia is a key trade partner considering the fact that it is Canada s second largest export market in the Middle East (Gauthier, 2011). As a result of this there is a definite commercial interest since it is a possible market for International Trade Canada (ITC). It is worth appreciating the fact that the Canada and its allies perceive the Middle East nation as a gradually stabilizing force. The fact that the light armored vehicles are made in Canada means that they are a key source employment (Chase, 2015). This partly explains why the conservative government is reluctant to halt the transfer of the arms for fear of contributing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It follows the same structure as an Ancient Greek tragedy, where the main actor and in this case Eddie Carbone falls to a tragic and yet a predictable inflicted death. I will be explaining the difference in culture between America and Italy and how this could have affected the outcome of the play. Its purpose is to circulate blood throughout the body and its cells, delivering needed substances and removing waste. The different organs of the cardiovascular system include the heart and its blood vessels, which are capillaries, arteries and veins. There are two parts to the cardiovascular system, pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation. Pulmonary circulation is between the heart and the lungs. The heart also has four values to ensure the blood flows throughout the chambers properly these are called the; tricuspid valve, mitral valve, pulmonary valve and the aortic valve. All of those are surrounded by the thick wall of the heart with three layers. The endocardium is the inner smooth layer surrounding each chamber. The myocardium is the thick muscular middle layer, the muscular wall of this layer allows the heart to contract and pump the blood. The epicardium layer is the outer layer of the heart. Since the heart is a muscle it also needs its own supply of the blood circulating around it. Once the blood is oxygenated and travels through the aortic valve. There are two sets of arteries, the left main coronary artery and the right coronary artery, that bring the blood back around through the heart muscle. Blockage to any of these arteries will trigger a myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. A heart attack will occur when the flow of oxygenated blood is blocked, stopping the muscle from receiving oxygen. Blockage to your coronary arteries most commonly occurs due to plaque buildup over time. If left untreated that part of the muscle will die. Mindfulness And Drama Therapy Association Mindfulness and Drama Jashuko Kwong Roshi states that original mindfulness is the actualization of humanity s inherent basic goodness, it is creatively joined with the new therapies and offers a stream of helping and compassionate services for something very old (Rappaport, 2013, p.1). The North American Drama Therapy Association defines drama as the intentional use of drama, and or theater process to achieve therapeutic goals (North American Drama Association, 2016). Drama therapy is both experiential and active, this particular approach to therapy can provide the context for the participants to tell their stories, set goals, solve problems, express feelings or achieve catharsis unlike talk therapy, drama therapy gets there at a rapid pace. Role playing, which allows one to act out issues and problems is reportedly more effective than talking (Landy, 2016). Mindfulness Meditation serves as a compliment to drama therapy, and many of the skills sets and approaches that are developed through the form of art can actually be utilized in everyday life. Skills such as concentration, acceptance, openness, and loving kindness are each contributors to the body of drama therapy work as well as the overall effectiveness of the therapy (Rappaport, 2013, p. 27). The main reasons why the world changed is because of major events and dictators that influenced the world to change. These events included the loss of power of Philippines dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, and dictator Jean Claude of Haiti (Kenney 1). This was a major coincidence that showed the rest of the world how great the countries looked because of new democratic governments that took to power and showcased joyous crowds and removal of repression (Kenney 1). At least 20 30 countries in the 1980s rapidly changed their ways to democratic governments. The years surrounding 1989 were the most important for Democratic Revolutions is because the world finally opened their eyes. Modeled Reading Through Shared Reading Modeled reading is often explained as the process of reading aloud, such as a teacher reading aloud to students or students reading aloud to each other (Sipe, 2002). However, the modelling process of the balanced literacy philosophy should be more than simply a teacher reading aloud to students or students reading aloud to each other as a class. Instead, modelling should involve teachers demonstrating the action of engaging with a text. For example, a teacher might engage in modelling by showing students the cover to a book and explaining how he or she can predictions about the content of the book from the cover, or reading the table of contents to gain some understanding of the information to be presented (Duke Pearson, 2002). Shared reading is the process of teachers and students engaging in shared reading activities as a way of teachers beginning to give students more independence and responsibility in reading instruction (Wall, 2014). • 22. Using Our Reading on Anthony Downs for a Class Discussion... In this weeks Anthony Downs reading we were able to use the knowledge we have gained about the structure of institutions so far from our discussions and texts and apply it to voting in politics. In An Economic Theory of Democracy Downs focused on the calculus behind voting and voter turnout to draw the conclusion that there is no point in voting. When Downs was explaining the reasoning behind voting he spoke of the utility income that the government provides to us; these benefits of utilities are the incentives that should determine the way that we vote and show its importance. Using the idea of looking to maximize utilities to determine how you vote was a fascinating idea to me and make me question he inefficiencies that exist in voting today that cause people to vote based on different reasons. So the irrational ways we base our voting decisions on (instead of utility) is what I primarily focus on as these voting habits show how citizens vote off superficial issues, not campaign platforms. If we are going to pay the costs of spending our time to go cast a vote, register, understand the candidate options, and pay for the gas to drive to the poles it makes sense to make the best choice you possibly can; to do so Downs recommends voting for the candidate that will provide you the most utility. I think Downs should have also included something about the benefit to society as too much personal interest and a lack of common concern will lead to personal benefit being ... • 23. Essay about Fine Quality Baroque Music in the Era of... Baroque music is the western music art style that was composed in the era of Renaissance, that is, between 1600 and 1750. Music at any given period reflects tendencies, impulses and influences that are found in art of other kinds of the same period. Therefore the name baroque also applied to the architecture, literature and art in the same period. Baroque has in the past and to some degree in the present had the implications of abnormality, grotesqueness and absurdity. But in its applications to music in the Renaissance period the term baroque does not have connotations that are pejorative because much of the music composed in this period is of high and fine quality (Swain, 7). One, the performer should be able to distinguish indications that are scanty for the instruments that the notations may be showing. In that all the instruments that the performer is using fit in the kind of that they are playing. They should also look out for the effects of the musician that may need working on for the actual performance (Donington, 131). Two, as much as it is the responsibility of the performer to choose the instruments, looking up for alternative instruments that are listed is important. That way, if there is an instrument that is missing, the performer should always be able to get an alternative. This also suitable when the there are many instruments needed, the alternative instruments can be used interchangeably (Donington, 131). Three, the notion that instruments that are suitable are acceptable may not always work. A performer should understand that every instrument is made for a specific use and should be the only use it must be put to. That is, it would be impossible to use an instrument and try to make it sound in a particular way. The distinctions were made in the baroque era as much as they do now (Donington, 131). The Importance Of Academic Delinquency For several years, a steady thread within the juvenile justice literature has addressed low academic attainment (Cottle, Lee, Heilbrun, 2001): educational failure, faculty disciplinary exclusion, and dropout predict teens delinquency and crime; educational achievement is a buffer for juvenile crime (Foley, 2001). even though results related to high faculty dropout encompass increased rates of unemployment, substance abuse, and criminal pastime, only 15% of kids served by means of the juvenile justice system graduate with a high school degree (Stanard, 2003). Conversely, academic attainment is critical for eventual gainful employment, task pride, more social capital (Andres Grayson, 2003), and decrease recidivism (Zgoba, Haugebrook, Jenkins, 2008). the overall trouble of low educational achievement has many reasons, amongst that s the failure to understand when a adolescents should qualify for special education status. Low success and its connection to special training status isn t completely understood. A steady concern in JJ settings, special training popularity isn t always a dependable indicator of delinquency. The unique schooling rate for JJ populations, about 35% (Kvarfordt, Purcell, Shannon, 2005), is well above the approximate 13% countrywide rate of special schooling service delivery in public faculties (countrywide center for education statistics, 2010). while the average age of the adjudicated adolescents is 15 years (about 9th 10th grade), the common studying level is 4th grade or decrease (Vacca, 2008). educational skill level, and who does no longer qualify for or obtain appropriate special training offerings, can be more crucial school primarily based indicators of delinquency threat than special education status. But, the individual student isn t the only subject; faculty environments with excessive retention, low attendance, useless behavioral control, low instructor educational ability, and reactive and punitive subject strategies are associated with academic failure, suspension, and dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2005). • 35. Gun Ownership In Early America Summary In the article Gun Ownership in Early America: A Survey of Manuscript Militia Returns by Robert Churchill, he discusses how gun ownership in the early 18th and 19th centuries was scarce and at times the armed militias were the only people who had guns at all. It was because of this that the government made gun ownership exceptional. This is different from today when gun ownership is everywhere. Due to the high concentration of guns sometimes it is hard to count how many are sold in the United States every year. To learn that guns, at one time, were almost non existent is almost hard to believe. In the article, the author talks about Michael Bellesiles a historian who first wrote on gun ownership in America in 1996. Bellesiles was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike the 18th and 19th centuries, the government today is much against gun ownership. So much so that they have enacted gun control laws that would take all guns away from American citizens. Though guns can be dangerous in the wrong hands, Americans have the right to bear arms. To take gun ownership away would mean destroying the Constitutional right of every American. Instead of gun control everyone that buys a gun they should undergo an intense back ground check and be required to attend gun ownership classes to learn how to safely use the weapon. In the article it is stated that most guns in the 18th and 19th centuries were owned by younger men and boys. This would suggest that younger men in those centuries were more mature than those of today. Back then people had to fend for themselves because money was not as prevalent as it is today, so owning a gun was more of a necessity. Now when younger people possess a fire arm the outcome is more violent. The damage inflicted by young people with guns in the last decade has been some of the worst America has ever witnessed. The Sandy Hook shooting being the most recent string of school related gun violence. In the 18th and 19th centuries, this type of behavior was never recorded, but the population was sparser and children then did not have violent videogames, TV ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Directed by her father s experience of being driven out of the oil business by the Standard Oil Company as well as her persistent persona, Tarbell was able to disclose Rockefeller s corrupt trust through her incessant investigations leading to general awareness of corporate trusts and a major supreme court ruling utilizing the Sherman Antitrust Act. Above all, Ida Tarbell s ruthless muckraking resulted in society s awareness of toxic trusts and Rockefeller s Standard Oil Company to be crushed. • 37. Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and political order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century, Virginia s quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the consumption of dirty water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and indentured servants were finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement in quality of life, Virginia s economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was being controlled by men using it to gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and high taxes. In addition to the economy forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of society, there was no good land in Virginia for them to expand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This left small farmers and merchants angry and poor. During this time Native Americans were attacking the frontier settlements of the colony. Nathaniel Bacon used this as leverage and requested that Governor Berkley issue retaliation on the Native Americans. Once Governor Berkley decided not to act, the angry farmers and merchants began to complain that the high taxes were going to Berkley rather than protecting the frontier from attacks. The rebels decided to take matters into their own hands and declared war on all Native Americans. The economic class separation between the rich government and poor farmers was so imbalanced that it created a rebellion. Bacon s Rebellion was deemed successful by the rebels because Native Americans abandoned their land, government became more responsive to the white farmers, and economic conditions ... • 38. Advertisements Exploiting Children Are current practises of advertising to children exploitative? What restrictions should be placed on advertising to children? Up until recently, parents had been the intended target audience for advertising efforts aimed for children of young age groups. However it is now the children who have become the main focus. The growth in advertising channels reaching children and the privatisation of children s media use have resulted in a dramatic increase in advertising directly intended for the eyes and ears of children (Wilcox et al. 2004). It is estimated that advertisers spend more than $12 billion a year on the youth market with more than 40,000 commercials each year. The current practises of advertising to young children definitely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore research on the language of advertisements, while used to promote products, may be purposefully constructed to confuse younger children at lower levels of cognitive development. Simple correlation research in the US indicates that children typically aged 2 6 years who view more television advertising request more products from their parents. This is known as pester power. It has been found that parents are more likely to buy products when kids ask for them in the shop (nag factor). As children age, they develop the cognitive capacity to contextualise and act critically on the observations made, reducing the amount of requests for products (Australian Communications and Media Authority, 2007). Children who are exposed to TV commercials for toys not only develop the initial idea for the toy but repeatedly pester their parents to buy it. This is exploitation on the parents behalf as it often causes parent child conflict when the parents deny their children the product (Wilcox et al. 2004). Another troubling issue relating to child advertising exploitation is in reference to food ads. Half of the advertisements in the UK directed at children concern food. There are little ads emphasising healthy eating and since the start of television advertising, the largest proportion of ads aimed at children has always been unhealthy food products (Gunter, Oates amp; Blades 2005). The Australian Communications and Media Authority (2007) detailed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
