In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, one of the scenes that I think is central to the
development of the story is when Ralph and Piggy discover the conch shell on the beach and use it to
summon the boys together after the crash. This scene has great importance to the plot of the story
considering it was the first time the boys held a meeting and discussed their situation. They came up
with a system that would eliminate chaos. For example, in their very first meeting, they voted on a
chief, choosing Ralph over Jack because he was the one with the conch. This proves that the boys

To counter soldiering and to improve efficiency, Taylor began to conduct experiments to determine the
best level of performance for certain jobs, and what was necessary to achieve this performance.
Time Studies Taylor argued that even the most basic, mindless tasks could be planned in a way that
dramatically would increase productivity, and that scientific management of the work was more
effective than the initiative and incentive method of motivating workers. The initiative and incentive
method offered an incentive to increase productivity but placed the responsibility on the worker to
figure out how to do it. To scientifically determine the optimal way to perform a job, Taylor performed
experiments that he called time studies, (also known as time and motion studies). These studies were
characterized by the use of a stopwatch to time a worker s sequence of motions, with the goal of

Similarities Between Redon And David Hockney
Artists often use their personal perceptions as a stimulus for their artwork. They are able to use their
work to express a certain viewpoint they may have on a subject. Well renowned artists, Odilon Redon
and David Hockney have both manipulated their artistic abilities to express their perceptions through
their work with their art movements. Redon is a renowned 18th 19th century French symbolist artist
whose works revolve around his dreams, fantasy and imagination, The Cyclops (1914), being one of
his most recognised paintings. David Hockney is a painter and photographer and is considered one of
the most influential British artists of the 20th century, a prime example of his work being, A Bigger
Splash (1966.) Both artworks reflect the artist s personal perceptions and contain similarities and
differences with their movements, intentions and use of stylistic features.
At the beginning of his career, Redon s works were exclusively in black and white in lithographic
prints and charcoal. His works consisted of a monochromatic colour scheme representing symbolism
in his unusual dreamlike creations, called noirs. In an interview, Redon stated that his noirs are his
most personal expressions. These works were a product of his creative imagination of depictions of
his knowledge and perception on evolution theories, presented by Charles Darwin at the time. The
noirs were also a reflection on his pessimism and melancholy, particularly as a child, and a
representation of how he views the world. Contradictory to his early works, Redon transfigured into
non naturalistic colour themed pastels and oil paintings. Many of these oeuvres were abstract,
generally constructed of an ethereal chromatic background with a focal subject and an overall hazy

Introduction and Summary of Recommendation Grupo Damm, one of the largest beer brewers in
Spain, is a strong company in a weak home market. Although many opportunities exist for expansion,
the strongest plan for the company to embark on is an aggressive expansion of its business in the
United States. This project will give Damm access to a large consumer base with minimal risk due to
previous conservative investments in the region.

of a smaller pie will prove very costly (Appendix 2). As the Spanish recession continues, revenue will
decline as less beer is consumed and margins will shrink as consumers buy beer in supermarkets,
significantly constraining Damm s profits (Appendix 3). 2. Damm has already entered the U.S. market
via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium

A thick description is a meaningful description of an action not only the simple, physical process of
the action but also the significance, intention, and context behind that action. Analyzing culture
through thick descriptions allows us to go beyond simple observations and understand why people do
what they do, so that a cultural status quo can become more familiar to us. Clifford Geertz suggests
that the concept of culture... is essentially a semiotic one (Geertz, 5), which means that culture is a
shared, public system of meanings and symbols. Thus, in order to have an adequate study of culture so
that we can better interact with others, we must analyze the signs and symbols used by a culture to

The movie Where Do We Go Now? by Nadine Labaki had won lots of awards in the Cannes Film
Festival (Fares 2). The movie was thought provoking and simply beautiful. The movie was about war
torn villages wherein Christians and Muslims are having personal conflicts and are plaguing the whole
village at large. The conflict had mixed effect in the whole habitants of the village and the women on
the movie are trying to keep off men from each other s throat. The movie was all about the coexistence
of Lebanese Muslim and Christians living in one community. The issue was felt by everyone as it was
overtly done. The movie had shown the struggles face by the people in their diverse community. The
village was very quiet and far from the noises of the outside world. With only one bridge that connects
the place to the outside world, the whole village was very much ancient and considered as very
rudimentary. Because it was offset from the outside world, media and technology was slow and almost
non effective. Television reception was very weak and signal was very poor. The movie had started
with young children seeking for a broadcast signal because the town folks have already settled to
