Eating Caterpillar Saving The Planet By Federica Bertocchini
The article Plastic eating caterpillar could save the planet begun with an accidental discovery by
Federica Bertocchini, who was a beekeeper and a biologist at Cantabria University in Spain. Noticing
that the caterpillar pests were working their way through the wax in the hives, these caterpillars were
captured and kept in a plastic shopping bag for further research. However, when Federica went to
check on these pests, an unbelievable sight was presented. The plastic bag was full with holes and
these pests had escaped the bag. After some research, these small criminals were identified as a larvae
of the greater wax moth, who was a famous pest for beekeepers. Comparing the two materials that was
consumed, scientist found that beeswax and plastic

The Nuclear Family
Today the idea of the nuclear family being normal has changed. It is now common to see the mixture
of two families connected by a second or subsequent marriage, with one or both partners having
children from prior relationships, thereby creating half siblings. Prior to the advent of no fault divorce,
most commonly the idea of blended families included a stepmother or stepfather and mother or father,
and stepchildren, born to one of the parents in a previous marriage. The previous marriage had been
terminated by abandonment or death and the stepparent was seen almost as a replacement parent. With
the advent of no fault divorce and the family dynamics changing, the roles of the parents are modified,
no longer is a stepparent a near replacement for an absent or deceased parent, but rather an addition to
existing parents not part of a relationship but still on the scene.
This can create turmoil in the family as the new couple as parent and stepparent and the children and
stepchildren each try to find their own role. Some would argue it is better for the child or stepchild to
be raised in a two parent home than a single parent family. This creates a positive environment for the
child. Conversely, as the relationship lines are not clearly defined, there is the possibility of confusion
and uncertainty for the child, as they are not certain of the role of the step parent versus the biological
parent. There is also cause for concern, as the biological dynamic of the family is

Wood Window Maintenance Requirements
Understanding Wood Window Maintenance That Will Be Required If you have ever looked into the
difference between vinyl and wood windows, one of the biggest reasons against wood windows is that
they need maintenance. This may leave you wondering what type of maintenance the window
requires, and if it s enough work to justify getting vinyl. Here are three ways you will be expected to
maintain wood windows if you want them to last. Repair Small Cracks The best way to maintain your
wood windows will be to find small problems before they become big issues. One way to do this is to
look out for small cracks. A common problem with wood is the cracks in the wood is how cold air gets
into your home. It causes your house to be less energy efficient, and

Traits and Values Associated with Femininity in Antigone
ANTIGONE
The conventionally accepted roles of both males and females in ancient Grecian society were well
defined and manifested. Women were considered the weaker of the sexes and, thus, were expected to
remain in the home and perform their domestic duties, while the men were to be rulers and bread
winners. The woman s voice was not heard on any issues affecting the society as her opinions were
thought unworthy of consideration. She was required merely to reproduce, to execute her domestic
duties well and to submit incontestably to the authority of the men. In essence the Greeks valued their
women almost as little as a common slave was valued. These values and traits associated with
femininity in ancient Grecian societies are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Property ownership could only be achieved through gifts, dowry and inheritance. The most important
role of women in ancient Greece, especially married women, was considered to be the production of
lawful children and the execution if household chores. Also she was required to literally remain inside
the home, except she was attending a special event as in those days women found in the streets were
either assumed to be enslaved, a harlot, a concubine or a woman who had to find work outside of the
home because of poverty (Thompson, par.8). It was also considered respectable for a woman to
remain out of sight and audible range when the man of the house had guests. Evidently, women of
ancient Greece were subjected to what modern day women may consider harsh and unfair treatment as
a result of some irrational beliefs and practices that were given judicial recognition. Because of fear of
facing the consequences that may arise from contesting these laws, many women living during that
period made no attempt to do so. So they remained as they were considered to be weak and helpless
because of fear. Sophocles mythical anecdote of Antigone, however, shows the apparently unseen
characteristics of women, though not all women, in ancient Greece. They were not as weak, helpless
and unwise as they were believed to have been but were strong willed individuals, possessing strong
characters and competent of making sound decisions.

The Dangers Of Nuclear Bombs
Nuclear Bombs
What would happen if the most powerful countries in the world started a nuclear war? In society,
many people will agree that nuclear bombs are a threat to humankind and the all life on Earth. To this
day, several countries still have nuclear bombs and weapons. This can affect the world because
countries with nuclear weapons have even threatened to use these against other countries, which could
start a third, more deadly, world war.
The last World War (WW2) was the only war that actually used nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons
are categorized into two major types of bombs. The first is called an atomic bomb and it can kill
thousands of people, but the hydrogen bomb is even worse and can kill ten times the number of living
things. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it either releases uranium or plutonium atoms, smoke, dust,
and soot. As this happens, the bombs pollute the ground, food, water and air. When the chemicals get
into large and small bodies of water, it can destroy the ecosystem and hurt people who eat food grown
or raised in the area. Even when there is wind, it is still dangerous. The wind can carry the chemicals
which travel for miles and can be destructive to habitats. Nuclear bombs can kill living things almost
instantly, but if the people near the explosion don t die, they usually suffer from radiation, very severe
burns, flying glass and deadly debris. When the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima,
Japan and Nagasaki, Japan in

Rick Ames And His Crimes Against The CIA
Aldrich Rick Ames was born in River Falls, Wisconsin on June 26th, 1941. Like most children, his
childhood did not reveal a disposition for betrayal and apathy, but rather held promise. I chose to learn
about Ames and his crimes against the CIA because of the relationship he had with both them and the
KGB. The CIA is frequently described as becoming another family for the men and women operating
within its power. Ames however, not only forsaked the agency s secrets to the KGB, but continued to
work for both agencies without hesitation. None of his colleagues, nor the the CIA s effort to protect
the nation as a whole held value for him. What s more startling than the fact that Rick doesn t regret
what he s done, is the that the close knit

Texas Government Vs Federal Government Essay
National and State governments are organized in similar ways. Both have powers derived from the
people, three branches of government, checks and balances on political power, individual rights, and
federalism. They may have many similarities, but they also have many differences which sets them
apart from each other. The Texas Constitution was written to limit the expansion of governmental
authority, while the U.S. Constitution was written to act effectively in the public welfare. Over the
years, the National government has indeed expanded. Federalism is power divided by a constitution
between a central and regional government. The U.S. Constitution gave Congress many enumerated
rights, as well as implied rights which are mentioned in the necessary and proper clause ... Show more

The judicial system in the U.S. government allows for only a Supreme Court, and they can create any
lower necessary courts. The Texas government has a Supreme Court to hear civil cases and one court
for criminal appeals to hear criminal cases, along with courts of appeal, district courts, commissioner s
court, and justice of the peace courts. For the U.S. judicial branch, the president appoints the judges
with approval by the Senate, while in the Texas judicial branch the judges are elected by the voters.
All of the state judges are bound by the U.S. Constitution, which makes the Texas Constitution weaker
than the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Constitution includes the supremacy clause, which states that it is
the law of the land. It says that if for some reason there is a conflict between the two constitutions, the
U.S. Constitution will overrule Texas . The most recent ruling on same sex marriage revealed this
power. Some states had laws preventing same sex marriage, but once the Supreme Court ruled it
constitutional, the laws were no longer valid and they must recognize same sex

Regiment personnel to be engaged in combat operations or injured by indirect fire on Iraqi bases while
conducting training to build the partner nation capability to combat the Islamic State in Iraq and the
Levant (ISIL). The need for this hemorrhage control device is vital to mission success arguably more
now than at the height of fight in either Iraq or Afghanistan as the theater support for CASEVAC is
limited with U.S. forces preparing to treat casualties at the point of injury for 12 48 hours or longer
before EVAC. The X STAT device could be the deference between life and death if a casualty sustains
an injury to the junctional areas of the body. Without the device U.S. medics and corpsman have
limited resources to manage junctional hemorrhage and these type injuries would most likely lead to
fatalities from potentially survivable wounds. The timeline to initial fielding of the X STAT syringe
will in the next 30 90 days to outfit the next deploying company with each individual receiving one
per person and each corpsman receiving an additional 5 for aid bags and resupply. This will require
the open purchase of an initial 170 devices.

Persuasive Speech On Cloning
What do you have to say about the topic of cloning? I am totally against the the topic of all cloning
and you should be as well. The new bill that has just come up has to do with it and you need to
understand why it is a bad thing to allow. It would allow the use of taxpayers money to fund both
therapeutic and reproductive cloning research of all animals and humans. If you don t understand the
difference between the two types of cloning, let me enlighten you. Therapeutic cloning is when you
create copies of cells but don t actually do any cloning of another person or animal. Reproductive
cloning on the other hand is the total opposite. It is when you create a newly created embryo
genetically identical to a donor and then place it into a female (animal or human) for it to fully
develop and be born. Taxpaying citizens would at least want their money that they worked so hard for
to be put to some good use. Some of those useful issues would include: education through high school,
financial aid for college students, immigration and law enforcement programs and natural resources of
the nation. These are very critical issues and topics that are going on in our daily lives and as a result
they only get about 8% of the income taxes. Do you really want to take more money away from these
issues for cloning?
Cloning destroys uniqueness. In the article, Arguments For and Against Creating Human Clones, it
states, Human cloning would diminish the sense of uniqueness of an individual. If there is another
person like you it would feel kind of weird knowing that when you aren t around anymore they are
sort of taking your spot in the world. The rebuttal says that this can only be true if we let it be. Well
guess what, people are already considering replacing loved ones. For example, on the same article it
talks about when a parent loses their child they are able to seek redress or peace for their loss. This in
fact happens to be the perfect example of diminishing the sense of uniqueness in a person. That
relationship they once had with their child will try to be recreated with someone who isn t actually the
same child they loss. It s basically, and very simply, like disrespecting or betraying that relationship
they had

That Can Be Us By Thomas Friedman And Michael Mandelbaum
That Used to be Us by Thomas Friedman and Michael Mandelbaum discusses the four major
challenges that the United States faces, globalization, the IT revolution, chronic deficits, and energy
consumption. The authors also give plausible solutions to the problems facing America and stress the
point that if something is not done now then the United States will face the consequences. Is the
American Century Over? by Joseph Nye argues that the American century is not over, and gives
scenarios of possible consequences for America s actions. He also gives a few countries that could
possible take over as the world s leading country. Both books argue that America has serious problems
that it is facing today, and that if they are not addressed it could lead to the downfall of the United
States.
Friedman and Mandelbaum are both frustrated optimists of America s future (7). They know the
potential American has, and that it is filled with creative talented and hardworking people that can
accomplish almost anything if they work together (Friedman and Mandelbaum, 8). At the same time,
they are frustrated because they discovered that many of those people feel that our country is not
educating the workforce they need, or admitting the energetic immigrants they seek, or investing in
the infrastructure they require, or funding the research they envision, or putting in place the intelligent
tax laws and incentives that our competitors have installed (Friedman and Mandelbaum, 8). American

Is Iago An Orator In Othello
Who is Iago? How does one arrive at such evil intentions? How does one succeed in playing out these
intentions? Iago is a true orator. Or is he? Quintilian has a few ideas about what constitutes an orator
and what bars a person from that title. Quintilian might have a hard time labelling Iago based on his
outlines for an orator in his Institutes of Oratory . Shakespeare clearly wrote Iago with the intention of
embodying vice, anger, and revenge in Othello . However, Iago s eloquence and rhetorical prowess
may be at odds with Quintilian s manual. Iago proves himself an orator through his ability to speak on
any occasion, with success, and bases his rhetoric on imagination and subtlety. On the other hand, his
rhetoric s intention, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why, say they are vile and false (III, iii) to imply that he is saving Othello from hearing such awful
thoughts. Then he tells Othello You cannot, if my heart were in your hand;/ Nor shall not, whilst tis in
my custody (III, iii) know about his thoughts in order to make Othello first curious and then concerned
that the information Iago is withholding is crucial to know. Once Othello essentially begs Iago, he
asserts that now I shall have reason/ To show the love and duty that I bear you (III, iii). This ruse baits
Othello into thinking that he needs the knowledge that Iago has, and that it is more important and valid
than it really is while setting Othello into a state of mind to truly consider and believe the implications
that Iago is making. This line also plays upon Othello s assumption and belief that Iago wants not only
what is best for him, but that Iago would sacrifice himself for him. Therefore, Iago uses rhetoric to
make imaginary faults plausible. Next, Iago is a character who adapts to each event, occasion, and
position that he find himself in. He is able to speak to the advantage of his master plan regardless of
the situation that presents itself. Iago proves himself a chameleon of rhetoric. He is able to fit his plan
into all points of his rhetoric without a fault, just as Quintilian stated that an orator

Why The Treatment And Correction Of Prisoners
The treatment and correction of prisoners is one of the focus of many countries around the world,
especially countries within Europe and North America. The way that prisoners with a psychological
illness are treated within the Federal prison system, gives an overall image of how the country looks.
Another reason why treatment and corrections of prisoners is important is due to the immense amount
of public interest on the rehabilitation of prisoners, and is conscious about releasing prisoners back
into society before they can be properly rehabilitated or treated for the psychological illness. Many of
the psychological include but are not limited to are Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD), Mentally

Fiji Water And Its Impact On Fiji
Fiji Water is everywhere in pop culture, celebrities drink it such as the Obamas and are used in hotels
and by chefs. It placed everywhere for everyone to see, to make people want to buy this water more
and more. But we have seen through Lenzer s article and perspective that there are certain aspects of
the company, their practices, and involvement in the Fiji Islands that are were never made known to
public or just false claims and statements. Fiji Water implies with their statements that they re the
ambassadors of Fiji and they help improve Fiji for the better but there are discrepancies with that. It is
the responsibility of Fiji Water to be open and honest with their consumers, stockholders, and to the
public, not take advantage of poor and corrupt government but instead improve and bring attention to
it and the lives of the Fijians, and lastly, to give back to the land they profit so much from.
Fiji Water has no doubt, got great marketing and business minds such as their owners Lynda and
Stewart Resnick and the founder, David Gilmour. They even fooled customers into paying more by
making their bottles square shape which presents a more fancy object that appears to cost more money

packaging use by 20 percent. They even have a plan for the Eco friendly consumers in mind with their

Los datos a partir de los cuales se formuló el diagnóstico, ¿son suficientes y exactos?
Hallar las respuestas no perenemente es fácil porque envuelve replantearse con espíritu crítico el

This I believe to be true because even if one is a moral person and has never stolen before, they have
at least thought of what they would do with the item that they are looking at. An example given to me
about this was in my psychology class where the professor gave an example of someone setting a
briefcase full of money on a table while he leaves the room in front of hundreds of people and that
everyone would at least contemplate what they would do with the money if they were to take it. This
example I believe connects with the idea that people do bad or evil things even though they know it is
the wrong thing to do. This can be connected to free will because one is given the free will to be able
to think about and to commit evil acts that they know are wrong. This part of Book 2 would imply that
we do have free will which helps Augustine s argument that we are capable of free will, and is what
causes the suffering in the world. This part of Book 2 can also be helpful because Augustine thought
that evil does exist, and evil is just the absence of good. This is one of Augustine s reasons for why
you need God because God is the highest good. The only real contradiction to this argument that I can
think of is that if we have the freedom of the will then how would one explain predestination?
Freedom of the will and predestination need to be exclusive of each other because

Symbolism In On The Waterfront
Symbolism means ideas, behavior, and characteristics because they relate to the essay called On the
Waterfront. But in the film, however, the pigeons, hooks, and a hanging crate is symbols too, which
represents the central theme of the film. The examples that symbolize the story are the pigeons which
represents Terry s life, the hooks which relates how awful the union is, and a hanging crate that
represent Terry s death. So, the main points of this essay are why Terry Malloy felt controlled by the
union, why Terry is so upset, and why Terry Malloy is a fighter. Pigeons are symbols that make Terry
Malloy feel controlled. Also, pigeons are beautiful creatures that can be seen from power lines and in
large fields too. When Terry Malloy works for the union, it was controlled by the MOB, and they took
the workers money for themselves. So, in the story, the pigeons relate to Terry s future because they
relate to peace and freedom which Terry, does make a statement about being like one because he says,
they got it made, they eat all they want, fly around like crazy, sleep side by side, and raise gobs of
squabs (On the Waterfront). The last part about pigeons is that they make Terry happy when he is off
work, and with them because he is away from the union and that he is not being controlled like a
slave. Hooks are the next symbol that makes Terry Malloy feel angry and this is because of the corrupt
union. What triggered his emotions is when Father Barry repeats the word

Rhetorical Devices In Ebb And Flow By Edward Taylor
Edward Taylor was one of the most famous poets born in England. Taylor was influenced to write by
religion, and it s evident in his poem Ebb and Flow . Taylor illustrates, through the use of rhetorical
devices, the fear that the fire inside his heart has burned out, and the hope that, through God s grace,
his affections will be ignited once again. Taylor uses the rhetorical device of diction to illustrate how
the fire in his heart is slowly burning out. At first in the poem, Taylor has a strong connection to God.
In the first line, Taylor says, When first Thou on me, Lord, wroughtest Thy sweet print, (Taylor). In
this line it s made clear that Taylor is engaged by God s love and authority. Then in verse two, Taylor
beings to question his relationship with God. In line eleven, Taylor talks about how his heart is lacking
of affections, making the fire in his heart burnout. I find my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Taylor uses a metaphor in line two stating, My heart was made Thy tinder box, . Taylor compares his
heart to a tinderbox as it is soft and fragile . This line show Taylor s strict connection to God. He is
ready to be ignited by a spark that will come from God and has hope that his heart will be ignited once
again. In line three he also uses a metaphor stating, My ffections were Thy tinder in t, (Taylor). Taylor
compares his affections to tinder that sits inside his heart. He has a lot of affections and has no doubts
in God as he feels the fire burning inside him. All of this is illustrated by imagery on lines five and six
when he states, Those holy sparks of heavenly fire that came Did ever catch and often out would
flame. (Taylor). These lines clearly illustrate how his heart would be flamed by the spark of God.
These three quotes allow the reader to really picture how his heart is ignited by the spark of God that

America s High Prison Population
America s High Prison Population Since the 1970s, America s prison population rate has risen 700%.
Despite the U.S. comprising only 5% of the world s population, it is the largest jailer with 25% of the
world s prison population with one in 99 adults in prison and one in 31 under some type of
correctional control (Mass Incarceration Problems, 2014, p. 1). According to 2013 data, 2.2 million
are currently incarcerated in U.S. prisons or jails (Incarceration, 2013, para. 1), a figure that indicates
a rising problem with prison overcrowding. While prison overcrowding increases the economic
burdens on local and state governments, common factors leading to the high prison population is
linked to the need for improved juvenile programs that deter criminal behavior and fund for
rehabilitation for reentry into mainstream society. With effective programs to deter juvenile crime and
to aid in offender reentry coupled with sentencing reforms, overcrowding in the nation s prisons
would decline.
Among nearly 100,000 youth under age 18 released from U.S. prisons each year, the majority are not
provided with the critical assistance necessary for successful transition back to their communities,
schools, homes, and peer groups (Youth Reentry, 2012, p. 1). Instead, these youths return to
neighborhoods that tend to lack the support programs necessary to ensure a positive transition back
into mainstream society. Disturbingly, these youths frequently return to neighborhoods with high

Analysis Of Tim Burton s The Brilliant Joker Essay
It is easy to empathize with Jack Nicholson s brilliant Joker as he laments in Tim Burton s classic
1989 film, Batman, Where does he get those wonderful toys? The average person may not be
villainously inclined, but one can certainly relate to having their best laid plans constantly being
thwarted. Though, to be fair, probably very few people would take issue with someone as awesome as
the Batman getting in their way. Despite being a mere mortal, Batman and his fellow graphic novel
heroes serve as present day gods akin to the ancient Greek gods of Rome. There are a great many
things that set Batman apart from his colleagues, however; chief among them are his tragic origin
story, the best villains in modern literature, his total lack of superpowers, wealth, and endless
interpretations.
Everyone loves a good origin story. Superman s parents are killed in the explosion of their home
planet, Krypton, and spare him from the same fate by shipping him off to earth on a spacecraft. Spider
Man, who was already living with his aunt and uncle because his parents died while he was still a
child, witnesses his beloved uncle Ben die in front of his eyes at the hands of a thief. Yet Batman s
origin tale easily surpasses both in terms of flair for the dramatic. As a child, young Bruce Wayne is
walking with his parents, Thomas and Martha, through an alley after having left a screening of the
Mark of Zorro. Gunmen seeking to steal Martha s exposed pearls approach the family. An altercation

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Mother Tongue By Amy Tan
In Mother Tongue, we learn about the Amy Tan s love for language; specifically, the English language.
Tan then introduces her conflict with her mother tongue and proper English and how this relates to her
mother. Tan shows and explains how she rejects the idea that her mother s English is in need of fixing
while explaining how she viewed English tests as subjective. She explains how she believes
achievement tests can t capture things like intent and passion which is what she strives to capture in
her writing. Tan explains that she now uses all the Englishes she s learned and that she strives to
preserve the essence of her mother tongue. The last line confirms that she has reached her writing
goals of including all of the different forms of English into her novel as her mother says that the book

mostly uses pathos in her essay to appeal to readers emotions. An example of her pathos style is when
she informs the reader about her mother s tumor: ...the hospital did not apologize when they said they

Nietzsche s Influence On Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche on Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche was born in Germany and was originally a very religious person. But while he
was studying Theology the study of religion from University of Bonn, he became a loyal atheist after
reading Arthur Schopenhauer s Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung. Nietzsche is the most. There can
be little doubt that Nietzsche is the most influential figure in modern atheism.
Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most interesting, litigious and probably one of the clearest thinkers
in western history. His philosophy still fascinates enthusiasts and the curious till date. He is considered
one of the fathers of a still popular philosophical movement called existentialism. He was of the view
that people are free and they can control their destiny on their own. They are capable of having a good
life if they want. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the philosophy of religion by Nietzsche has
had great brilliant influence around the world. He was the creator of the famous quote God is dead...

Freud s Views on Forgetting a Proper Name and Dream Analysis
In several of his books, including Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis and On Dreams, Freud
combines the topics of forgetting a proper name and dream analysis, formulating a thesis that helps to
clarify his theories on both. He describes in psychoanalytic terms the mechanisms behind forgetting of
a proper name and how they relate to the methods used in dream analysis. By looking at the two topics
from a joint perspective, we can gain a greater understanding of them and how they relate to other
areas of psychoanalysis. The tendency toward forgetting of a proper name is an important theme in
Freud s work. He explained the way in which forgetting something like a name ... Show more content

#8230; (ILp 35 36) It is in this line that understanding the preconscious becomes important.
Preconscious describes a division of the mind that falls in between repression (unconscious) and
recognition (conscious). Freud described thoughts in the preconscious as having crossed the threshold
from the unconscious mind, but not yet having caught the eye of consciousness (IL p366). The
preconscious is an important element in the dynamic between an individual s conscious intention and
their counter will, because it falls somewhere in the middle and may be the most manifested part of
the phenomenon. For instance, when a proper name is forgotten, this is a function of repression. The
individual unconsciously wants to forget one thing, but the counter will resists by forgetting another. It
is when a name is on the tip of the tongue but still unclear that countless other irrelevant names will
come to mind; these irrelevant names are the inhabitants of the preconscious. The case detailed in The
Psychopathology of Everyday Life, in which Freud discusses his own experience with the forgetting
of a proper name, is a good example of a clear analysis of the mechanism Freud saw behind this
phenomenon. He explains the situation, and will later go on to fully analyze its significance:

The Dangers Of Al Capone During The Prohibition Era
Introduction
During the Prohibition Era, Al Capone was an extremely powerful gangster that ran Chicago s
underground. At his pinnacle, he led uncountable brothels and speakeasies in which he and his
syndicate could manage their various criminal acts, of which included illicit gambling, prostitution,
and the sale of alcohol, which of course was illegal at this time and thus how he made the majority of
his money. While exact numbers are not available, it is estimated that while at the peak of his power,
Capone had brought in well over $1 billion in today s currency and employed over 600 gangsters in
order to do his business and protect him (Simkin, Al Capone ). When asked whether or not he was a
criminal, Capone even cheekily responded, I make my money by supplying a public demand. If I
break the law, my customers who number hundreds of the best people in Chicago, are as guilty as I
am. The only difference is that I sell and they buy. Everybody calls me a racketeer. I call myself a
businessman (qtd. Simkin).
For years the police were led on a winding path in order to try and obtain evidence to convict Capone,
but they found it nearly impossible. By employing various tactics to cover up his tracks, and making
sure that he never did the dirty work himself, he was able to stay out of prison for years. Finally
convicted in 1931 for tax evasion, he was released prior to the termination of his eleven year sentence
in 1939 (Simkin). When he was released, Prohibition had been

Databases Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support
services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and safety,
and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be discussing the
following topics in this paper 1. Understand why implementing high availability for mission critical
databases is so important to IT s success. 2. Learn why true availability relies on people, process, and
technology. 3. Understand database methodology and approach to implementing high availability.
Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery processes and technology will meet

For example, an Info Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting appropriate
recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system uptime depends on
people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the system becomes significantly
more vulnerable to human error the number one cause of downtime. My Research Recommendation:
Integrate these principles when planning for high availability Step 1 Take a proactive approach to high
availability. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to happen reactively after system
failures. When you proactively address high availability, you ll give yourself time to holistically
approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Step 2 It is the responsibility of IT to
ensure the business has been informed about the options and costs of higher availability. Business
users can t assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs often acutely
aware of the impact of system downtime should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime,
achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step 3 It is the responsibility of the
business to decide what projects to fund. Business stakeholders must decide whether to fund a project,
not the IT team. It is up to the business to make an informed decision about the availability

Analysis Of Book 19 In The Odyssey
Book 19 of the epic poem The Odyssey is written by the great poet Homer. Homer s specific use of
language and epic conventions help develop the plot, specifically Odysseus disguise and whether or
not it will work on the people in the house. It also helps to establish Eurycleia, the nurse, and the
suitors as well as Penelope. In the passage, Odysseus has entered his home for the first time since his
return when he left almost twenty years ago. Disguised as a beggar, Odysseus tells his own story
through the beggar s words to his wife, Penelope, but never reveals his true identity. After Penelope is
deeply moved by the knowledge that her husband is still alive, she offers the stranger a place to sleep

We bear a striking resemblance to each other, as you have had the wit to say yourself. (19. 430 37)
This part of the passage serves to show Odysseus cunning wit and to also foreshadow the nurse
discovering Odysseus identity. Homer uses the epithet wily Odysseus to tell the audience (if they didn
t already know) that Odysseus must have been pretty clever to come up with such a good excuse so
fast. Homer also gives us more information about the nurse, saying that she is an old woman that has
seen much and remembers Odysseus from before he left to Troy. This part of the passage also serves
to foreshadow the fact that the nurse will soon discover who Odysseus is, in the quote she begins to
recognize just how alike the beggar and Odysseus are.
Homer´s use of poetic language is a useful tool to develop a string of affairs in the Odyssey. When
Eurycleia recognizes Odysseus in his disguised appearance she feels a deep sorrow and commiseration
for him. She understands and knows that Odysseus s fate is a result of his own constant hubris and his
total disregard of the gods and their power:
Oh my child, how helpless I am to help you

The Iron Giant was a movie that I believe had many different theological theme. But for me the one
theme that stuck out the most was of Christ and his sacrifice for us. Just like Christ sacrificed his life
for us The Iron Giant sacrificed himself for the people of Rockwell. In this paper we are going to look
at how The Iron Giant and the journey Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us are similar, we will also
look at how we are supposed to live life like a child.
In order for us to look at this movie theologically we have to know what happened. In this movie a 50
foot tall robot crash lands on earth. He is later found by Hogarth Hough and they become friends and
they do a lot of stuff together. Eventually the army gets called and they try and destroy this monster
but this just made the giant mad and he began defending himself. At the end of the movie and bomb is
launched at the giant that will kill everyone. The Iron Giant decides to sacrifice himself for his friend
and the people of Rockwell.
The first thing I want to point out was this line from Kent Mansley who said.
No, Marv. Big things happen in big places, and the sooner I file my report, the sooner I can get back to
them. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0129167/quotes)

Origen Of Alexandria s Intellectual Framework Of The...
Origen of Alexandria was one of the earliest and most important Christian scholars. Origen originated
from a Christian home and as a young man he provided for his family by selling his secular books and
later on, he began his extraordinary career as a teacher and scholar (Shelley 84). At a very tender age
of eighteen years old, leadership was surrendered to him by Clement, the first Christian scholar
(Shelley 83). Just as Clement, Origen traced man s thirst for knowledge to the work of God. The
desire to bring all truth into God s plan of salvation provided by Christ was Origen s ultimate aim.
While under his bishop, Demetrius, he was invited to Athens. While traveling to Athens, he passed
through Caesarea, where he accepted ordination to the ministry. After finding out about Origen s
ordination, Demetrius led in a public condemnation of Origen. As a result, he made Caesarea his

Origen believed that if Christianity were to succeed in shaping civilization, it must justify itself to the
intellect as well as to the heart of mankind. In comparison, he stated if we see some admirable work of
human art, we are at once eager to investigate the nature, the manner, the end of its production; and
the contemplation of the works of God stir us with an incomparably greater longing to learn the

America has always been the leader in science and innovation. It has the best universities and research
labs. Many successful entrepreneurs have been raised from this nation. Thus, it has to take benefit
from these significant comparative advantages to generate new pools of jobs for its people. As I
mentioned in the introduction, we should let history to be our guide to plan for future. Toward the end
of the last century Japan was getting ahead of U.S. in most aspects of technology and industry
including in automotive and home appliance industries. Most economists at that time predicted that in
near future Japan s economy would pass America s economy, but this did not happen. Thanks to
Americans innovation and ingenuity, the Internet was born in U.S.A which became the prevalent
technology of the future and revived the U.S economy. Today, America is in need of such innovations.
The world is in shortage of energy and the oil and natural gas resources are running out. Therefore, the
price of energy will definitely increase. I believe that the capability of storing and using alternative
and renewable energies in day to day life can be the next big discovery that is very likely to revitalize
the economy and to create a new generation of jobs. Thus, emphasizing on research on alternative
energies can be a feasible strategy to maintain a healthy workforce in the mist of outsourcing.

Analysis Of Enkidu s The Epic
Enkidu s role in the epic explores the idea that humans cultivation of the earth to suit their own needs
will lead to their demise. Enkidu was depicted as androgynous to allow the reader to see themselves in
the journey and allows the narrator more flexibility. Enkidu was described as lush with head hair like a
woman . Gilgamesh recounted a dream to his mother saying, I fell in love with it like a woman I
caressed it . The use of the word it can imply gender is disregarded and allows the narrator the ability
to play with the idea of it being a woman but still leaving room for the masculine interpretation. In
contrast Enkidu was also described as a strong, fearless and great warrior. He was said to have the
strength of heaven, and mighty will be his strength he was also said to be valiant in the steppe which
signifies that he is fearless in the wild, and he would have the force of the hero Ninurta, god of war.
Enkidu s character is androgynous and his journey symbolizes that of man s. The story of Enkidu is

Curfew Movie Themes
ThemesTENSE
Life is tougher for some people than it is for others. That may seem like a statement too obvious to be
necessary to write down, but some people find it easy to forget. It s very easy to get caught up in our
own lives and struggles without stepping back and thinking about how easy it can be to slip into a
worse situation. In the same vein, it s easy to forget how any single person you are around could be
experiencing hard to imagine struggles. Curfew, the Oscar winning film written directed and starred
by Shawn Christensen, focuses on dark themes that affect modern Americans more than we like to
think about. Christensen manages to convey these themes in a powerful and effective format, opening
up viewers minds to how it fits in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good film is one that makes the viewer feel something, good or bad. Even films that make you feel
negative feelings are generally effective why else would horror movies be popular. Curfew s themes
allow the viewer to feel very genuine emotions that we have all felt in real life while blending it with
good acting and an entertaining plot. More amazing is the way it is all done within 19 minutes. A work
of fiction focusing on more mundane themes can slip into dreariness very easily but Christensen
manages it with ease. It s a refreshing change from absurdist fantasy and sci fi works and is ultimately
better for us gaining human

Persuasive Essay On Early Voting
When you think of America, what do you think of? Most people probably imagine an American Flag,
maybe some are thinking of their home, but one thing that will not be far from everyone s mind when
they think of America, is democracy. Democracy is one of the foundations of our country, and is one
of the thousands of things that make America a free nation. Although America prides itself on
freedom, specifically freedom of expression, only about half of our citizens are taking part in their
civic duty. There are many reasons for this, some that are unsolvable, but as a nation, we must do
better to make voting more readily available for all citizens. One way to do this, is to allow early
voting. Currently, 37 states allow some form of early voting, but Pennsylvania is not one of them
(STATE LAWS GOVERNING EARLY VOTING.) I m proposing for the Pennsylvania State
Government to take action, and allow early voting for the sake of their people.
The 2016 election was one that most would consider the most in your face election The United States
has ever seen, and still only 55.7% of eligible citizens voted (Bureau, US Census.) According to the
Pew Research Center, the US ranks 31 out of 35 when compared to other developed nations around
the world (Pew Research.) As a country, our voter turnout is much lower than most other developed
nations. In Pennsylvania specifically, we rank just 23rd out of 50 states for voter turnout. Looking at
the top ten states, (Minnesota, Louisiana,

How Does Julius Caesar Use Rhetoric
Julius Caesar Rhetoric Research Essay The art of rhetoric has been practiced and admired for
centuries for its powerful effects over audiences. These effects are clearly presented in Shakespeare s
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. The famous eulogies by Mark Antony and Marcus Brutus are prime
examples of how public speaking can generate a whirlwind of reactions and emotions from people. In
Brutus address, he states that killing Caesar was for the good of Rome, and the continuity of Rome
should be put above all else. He bluntly points out that as Caesar was an ambitious man, it would have
had a disastrous affect on Rome. In Mark Antony s speech, he sets Caesar as a man of the people with
ambition to make Rome greater. He carefully counters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brutus also shows his role in power by commanding the people to be silent, that [they] may hear... him
(Shakespeare III.ii.13 14). As Brutus speaks, it can be seen that he is not speaking within his natural
form, iambic pentameter. He is instead using prose, a common speech that is typically not used in his
rank of power, but rather in commoner conversation. This shows that due to the unnatural events that
have occurred, he is not able to speak in his natural form. Brutus is easily affected by events and
conflict more so than other characters in the play. After Brutus is done speaking, he demands, not asks,
the crowd to listen, complete opposite to Mark Antony s start of speech. Mark Antony addresses the
people as Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears, putting friends above citizens of Rome
(III.ii.75). Antony asks for permission to speak before the crowd. Still speaking in iambic pentameter,
he establishes himself as a regular sympathetic citizen of Rome, greatly impacted by the death of
Caesar. This angle works as the citizens of Rome as they too start to feel sorry for Caesar, and realize
his death was not justified. Antony´s emotional appeal to the crowd is described

The Red Pony Analysis
Jody s life changed from a boring farm to a life changing adventure with animals that ended up
coming very close to his heart. The Red Pony, written by John steinbeck is about a young boy named
Jody Tiflin who adventures through is life. Jody is grateful to have a pony that becomes very
important to him in the novel. However he begins to lose that pony, and go through some tough
situations. The main character Jody changes and grows from childhood to adolescence, by being
responsible for the pony, going through the death with Gabilan, and also trying to believe in Billy
through Nellie s birth. Jody becomes smarter and stronger through the novel as well.
To begin with, Jody grows and changes into adolescence by learning responsibility with the horse. It
takes a lot of work that he didn t know how to handle with the pony. An example from the book that
shows how he has lots to do now, and lots of work with the horse is, Jody carried and brushed until a
pile of dead hair lay in the stall...Each time he finished he thought it might have been done better.
(Steinbeck 13) He is now understanding the work that has to be done with the new horse. He is also
learning that he has something else to look forward to, which does prove he is changing and growing
into a new type of lifestyle. Another example from the text is showing when the pony was left in the
rain because he thought it wouldn t rain,it said, From the top of the ridge he could see Gabilan
standing in the coral miserably

Bagley Meaning
The article by Robert Bagley Meaning and Explanation deals with the problem of meaning
identification of the artworks elements. The piece of writing focuses on the analysis of the
interpretation of the decorative elements on the Chinese ritual bronzes. This issue has caused
numerous discussions that seek to come up with a single idea concerning the question whether those
religious vessels have the meaning or they are just decorations with no symbolic meaning at all. With
regard to this, in this article, the author rebuts the idea expressed by K.C. Chang, who believes that
every religion connected decoration should have a meaning and obligatory represent the ideology of
the people. Robert Bagley provides substantial evidence in terms of sharing ... Show more content on

The problem with the pieces of art that were under analysis was that there was a lack of textual
evidence concerning the value of those ritual vessels as well as of other artworks that Bagley uses to
develop his argument. Nevertheless, such approach allows him to indicate the weaknesses in the
reasoning and, in this way, make his reasoning stronger. For example, Bagley puts an emphasis on the
need to consider not only the potential symbolism of the painted elements but also to research the
history of the elements and how they were used before. Bagley writes, No inventory of meanings will
ever be enough to explain the appearance of the Lindisfarne page or the appearance of a Shang bronze
, and he expresses reasonable claim here defending the idea of decorative value of respective elements
(8). If the meaning of the ornaments was only characterized by symbolism and devoted to the beliefs
expression, there would be no place for changes in the use of ornaments in definite time or otherwise.
Nevertheless, the change of beliefs system did not always result in the change of decoration that were
used. For instance, the description of the Erligang phase with the painted animals could not be applied
to the pre Anyang bronzes showing no presence of the same images, as Bagley claims in his work (22
23). Respectively, the issue of the meaning of the elements should be replaced with the issue of their

  • 2. Eating Caterpillar Saving The Planet By Federica Bertocchini The article Plastic eating caterpillar could save the planet begun with an accidental discovery by Federica Bertocchini, who was a beekeeper and a biologist at Cantabria University in Spain. Noticing that the caterpillar pests were working their way through the wax in the hives, these caterpillars were captured and kept in a plastic shopping bag for further research. However, when Federica went to check on these pests, an unbelievable sight was presented. The plastic bag was full with holes and these pests had escaped the bag. • 3. The Nuclear Family Today the idea of the nuclear family being normal has changed. It is now common to see the mixture of two families connected by a second or subsequent marriage, with one or both partners having children from prior relationships, thereby creating half siblings. Prior to the advent of no fault divorce, most commonly the idea of blended families included a stepmother or stepfather and mother or father, and stepchildren, born to one of the parents in a previous marriage. The previous marriage had been terminated by abandonment or death and the stepparent was seen almost as a replacement parent. With the advent of no fault divorce and the family dynamics changing, the roles of the parents are modified, no longer is a stepparent a near replacement for an absent or deceased parent, but rather an addition to existing parents not part of a relationship but still on the scene. This can create turmoil in the family as the new couple as parent and stepparent and the children and stepchildren each try to find their own role. Some would argue it is better for the child or stepchild to be raised in a two parent home than a single parent family. This creates a positive environment for the child. Conversely, as the relationship lines are not clearly defined, there is the possibility of confusion and uncertainty for the child, as they are not certain of the role of the step parent versus the biological parent. There is also cause for concern, as the biological dynamic of the family is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Traits and Values Associated with Femininity in Antigone ANTIGONE The conventionally accepted roles of both males and females in ancient Grecian society were well defined and manifested. Women were considered the weaker of the sexes and, thus, were expected to remain in the home and perform their domestic duties, while the men were to be rulers and bread winners. The woman s voice was not heard on any issues affecting the society as her opinions were thought unworthy of consideration. She was required merely to reproduce, to execute her domestic duties well and to submit incontestably to the authority of the men. In essence the Greeks valued their women almost as little as a common slave was valued. These values and traits associated with femininity in ancient Grecian societies are ... The most important role of women in ancient Greece, especially married women, was considered to be the production of lawful children and the execution if household chores. Also she was required to literally remain inside the home, except she was attending a special event as in those days women found in the streets were either assumed to be enslaved, a harlot, a concubine or a woman who had to find work outside of the home because of poverty (Thompson, par.8). It was also considered respectable for a woman to remain out of sight and audible range when the man of the house had guests. Evidently, women of ancient Greece were subjected to what modern day women may consider harsh and unfair treatment as a result of some irrational beliefs and practices that were given judicial recognition. Because of fear of facing the consequences that may arise from contesting these laws, many women living during that period made no attempt to do so. So they remained as they were considered to be weak and helpless because of fear. Sophocles mythical anecdote of Antigone, however, shows the apparently unseen characteristics of women, though not all women, in ancient Greece. They were not as weak, helpless and unwise as they were believed to have been but were strong willed individuals, possessing strong characters and competent of making sound decisions. ... • 6. The Dangers Of Nuclear Bombs Nuclear Bombs What would happen if the most powerful countries in the world started a nuclear war? In society, many people will agree that nuclear bombs are a threat to humankind and the all life on Earth. To this day, several countries still have nuclear bombs and weapons. This can affect the world because countries with nuclear weapons have even threatened to use these against other countries, which could start a third, more deadly, world war. The last World War (WW2) was the only war that actually used nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are categorized into two major types of bombs. The first is called an atomic bomb and it can kill thousands of people, but the hydrogen bomb is even worse and can kill ten times the number of living things. When a nuclear bomb explodes, it either releases uranium or plutonium atoms, smoke, dust, and soot. As this happens, the bombs pollute the ground, food, water and air. When the chemicals get into large and small bodies of water, it can destroy the ecosystem and hurt people who eat food grown or raised in the area. Even when there is wind, it is still dangerous. The wind can carry the chemicals which travel for miles and can be destructive to habitats. Nuclear bombs can kill living things almost instantly, but if the people near the explosion don t die, they usually suffer from radiation, very severe burns, flying glass and deadly debris. Both have powers derived from the people, three branches of government, checks and balances on political power, individual rights, and federalism. The Texas Constitution was written to limit the expansion of governmental authority, while the U.S. Constitution was written to act effectively in the public welfare. • 10. Persuasive Speech On Cloning What do you have to say about the topic of cloning? I am totally against the the topic of all cloning and you should be as well. The new bill that has just come up has to do with it and you need to understand why it is a bad thing to allow. It would allow the use of taxpayers money to fund both therapeutic and reproductive cloning research of all animals and humans. If you don t understand the difference between the two types of cloning, let me enlighten you. Therapeutic cloning is when you create copies of cells but don t actually do any cloning of another person or animal. Reproductive cloning on the other hand is the total opposite. It is when you create a newly created embryo genetically identical to a donor and then place it into a female (animal or human) for it to fully develop and be born. Taxpaying citizens would at least want their money that they worked so hard for to be put to some good use. Some of those useful issues would include: education through high school, financial aid for college students, immigration and law enforcement programs and natural resources of the nation. These are very critical issues and topics that are going on in our daily lives and as a result they only get about 8% of the income taxes. Do you really want to take more money away from these issues for cloning? Cloning destroys uniqueness. In the article, Arguments For and Against Creating Human Clones, it states, Human cloning would diminish the sense of uniqueness of an individual. If there is another person like you it would feel kind of weird knowing that when you aren t around anymore they are sort of taking your spot in the world. The rebuttal says that this can only be true if we let it be. Well guess what, people are already considering replacing loved ones. For example, on the same article it talks about when a parent loses their child they are able to seek redress or peace for their loss. This in fact happens to be the perfect example of diminishing the sense of uniqueness in a person. • 12. Is Iago An Orator In Othello Who is Iago? How does one arrive at such evil intentions? How does one succeed in playing out these intentions? Iago is a true orator. Or is he? Quintilian has a few ideas about what constitutes an orator and what bars a person from that title. Quintilian might have a hard time labelling Iago based on his outlines for an orator in his Institutes of Oratory . Shakespeare clearly wrote Iago with the intention of embodying vice, anger, and revenge in Othello . However, Iago s eloquence and rhetorical prowess may be at odds with Quintilian s manual. Iago proves himself an orator through his ability to speak on any occasion, with success, and bases his rhetoric on imagination and subtlety. On the other hand, his rhetoric s intention, and ... Once Othello essentially begs Iago, he asserts that now I shall have reason/ To show the love and duty that I bear you (III, iii). This ruse baits Othello into thinking that he needs the knowledge that Iago has, and that it is more important and valid than it really is while setting Othello into a state of mind to truly consider and believe the implications that Iago is making. This line also plays upon Othello s assumption and belief that Iago wants not only what is best for him, but that Iago would sacrifice himself for him. Therefore, Iago uses rhetoric to make imaginary faults plausible. Next, Iago is a character who adapts to each event, occasion, and position that he find himself in. This example I believe connects with the idea that people do bad or evil things even though they know it is the wrong thing to do. This can be connected to free will because one is given the free will to be able to think about and to commit evil acts that they know are wrong. This part of Book 2 would imply that we do have free will which helps Augustine s argument that we are capable of free will, and is what causes the suffering in the world. This part of Book 2 can also be helpful because Augustine thought that evil does exist, and evil is just the absence of good. This is one of Augustine s reasons for why you need God because God is the highest good. So, the main points of this essay are why Terry Malloy felt controlled by the union, why Terry is so upset, and why Terry Malloy is a fighter. Pigeons are symbols that make Terry Malloy feel controlled. Also, pigeons are beautiful creatures that can be seen from power lines and in large fields too. Taylor illustrates, through the use of rhetorical devices, the fear that the fire inside his heart has burned out, and the hope that, through God s grace, his affections will be ignited once again. Taylor uses the rhetorical device of diction to illustrate how the fire in his heart is slowly burning out. At first in the poem, Taylor has a strong connection to God. In the first line, Taylor says, When first Thou on me, Lord, wroughtest Thy sweet print, (Taylor). In this line it s made clear that Taylor is engaged by God s love and authority. Despite the U.S. comprising only 5% of the world s population, it is the largest jailer with 25% of the world s prison population with one in 99 adults in prison and one in 31 under some type of correctional control (Mass Incarceration Problems, 2014, p. 1). According to 2013 data, 2.2 million are currently incarcerated in U.S. prisons or jails (Incarceration, 2013, para. 1), a figure that indicates a rising problem with prison overcrowding. While prison overcrowding increases the economic burdens on local and state governments, common factors leading to the high prison population is linked to the need for improved juvenile programs that deter criminal behavior and fund for rehabilitation for reentry into mainstream society. With effective programs to deter juvenile crime and to aid in offender reentry coupled with sentencing reforms, overcrowding in the nation s prisons would decline. Among nearly 100,000 youth under age 18 released from U.S. prisons each year, the majority are not provided with the critical assistance necessary for successful transition back to their communities, schools, homes, and peer groups (Youth Reentry, 2012, p. 1). • 27. Analysis Of Tim Burton s The Brilliant Joker Essay It is easy to empathize with Jack Nicholson s brilliant Joker as he laments in Tim Burton s classic 1989 film, Batman, Where does he get those wonderful toys? The average person may not be villainously inclined, but one can certainly relate to having their best laid plans constantly being thwarted. Though, to be fair, probably very few people would take issue with someone as awesome as the Batman getting in their way. Despite being a mere mortal, Batman and his fellow graphic novel heroes serve as present day gods akin to the ancient Greek gods of Rome. There are a great many things that set Batman apart from his colleagues, however; chief among them are his tragic origin story, the best villains in modern literature, his total lack of superpowers, wealth, and endless interpretations. Everyone loves a good origin story. Superman s parents are killed in the explosion of their home planet, Krypton, and spare him from the same fate by shipping him off to earth on a spacecraft. Spider Man, who was already living with his aunt and uncle because his parents died while he was still a child, witnesses his beloved uncle Ben die in front of his eyes at the hands of a thief. Yet Batman s origin tale easily surpasses both in terms of flair for the dramatic. Or again: there are cases in which the parapraxes multiply, form chains, and replace one another #8230; (ILp 35 36) It is in this line that understanding the preconscious becomes important. Preconscious describes a division of the mind that falls in between repression (unconscious) and recognition (conscious). Freud described thoughts in the preconscious as having crossed the threshold from the unconscious mind, but not yet having caught the eye of consciousness (IL p366). The preconscious is an important element in the dynamic between an individual s conscious intention and their counter will, because it falls somewhere in the middle and may be the most manifested part of the phenomenon. For instance, when a proper name is forgotten, this is a function of repression. The individual unconsciously wants to forget one thing, but the counter will resists by forgetting another. It is when a name is on the tip of the tongue but still unclear that countless other irrelevant names will come to mind; these irrelevant names are the inhabitants of the preconscious. The case detailed in The Psychopathology of Everyday Life, in which Freud discusses his own experience with the forgetting of a proper name, is a good example of a clear analysis of the mechanism Freud saw behind this phenomenon. If I break the law, my customers who number hundreds of the best people in Chicago, are as guilty as I am. The only difference is that I sell and they buy. Everybody calls me a racketeer. I call myself a businessman (qtd. Simkin). For years the police were led on a winding path in order to try and obtain evidence to convict Capone, but they found it nearly impossible. By employing various tactics to cover up his tracks, and making sure that he never did the dirty work himself, he was able to stay out of prison for years. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to happen reactively after system failures. When you proactively address high availability, you ll give yourself time to holistically approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Business users can t assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs often acutely aware of the impact of system downtime should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime, achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step 3 It is the responsibility of the business to decide what projects to fund. Currently, 37 states allow some form of early voting, but Pennsylvania is not one of them (STATE LAWS GOVERNING EARLY VOTING.) I m proposing for the Pennsylvania State Government to take action, and allow early voting for the sake of their people. The 2016 election was one that most would consider the most in your face election The United States has ever seen, and still only 55.7% of eligible citizens voted (Bureau, US Census.) According to the Pew Research Center, the US ranks 31 out of 35 when compared to other developed nations around the world (Pew Research.) As a country, our voter turnout is much lower than most other developed nations. In Pennsylvania specifically, we rank just 23rd out of 50 states for voter turnout. • 45. How Does Julius Caesar Use Rhetoric Julius Caesar Rhetoric Research Essay The art of rhetoric has been practiced and admired for centuries for its powerful effects over audiences. These effects are clearly presented in Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. The famous eulogies by Mark Antony and Marcus Brutus are prime examples of how public speaking can generate a whirlwind of reactions and emotions from people. In Brutus address, he states that killing Caesar was for the good of Rome, and the continuity of Rome should be put above all else. He bluntly points out that as Caesar was an ambitious man, it would have had a disastrous affect on Rome. In Mark Antony s speech, he sets Caesar as a man of the people with ambition to make Rome greater. He carefully counters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brutus also shows his role in power by commanding the people to be silent, that [they] may hear... him (Shakespeare III.ii.13 14). As Brutus speaks, it can be seen that he is not speaking within his natural form, iambic pentameter. He is instead using prose, a common speech that is typically not used in his rank of power, but rather in commoner conversation. This shows that due to the unnatural events that have occurred, he is not able to speak in his natural form. Brutus is easily affected by events and conflict more so than other characters in the play. After Brutus is done speaking, he demands, not asks, the crowd to listen, complete opposite to Mark Antony s start of speech. Mark Antony addresses the people as Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears, putting friends above citizens of Rome (III.ii.75). Antony asks for permission to speak before the crowd. Still speaking in iambic pentameter, he establishes himself as a regular sympathetic citizen of Rome, greatly impacted by the death of Caesar. This angle works as the citizens of Rome as they too start to feel sorry for Caesar, and realize his death was not justified. Antony´s emotional appeal to the crowd is described ... • 47. Bagley Meaning The article by Robert Bagley Meaning and Explanation deals with the problem of meaning identification of the artworks elements. The piece of writing focuses on the analysis of the interpretation of the decorative elements on the Chinese ritual bronzes. This issue has caused numerous discussions that seek to come up with a single idea concerning the question whether those religious vessels have the meaning or they are just decorations with no symbolic meaning at all. With regard to this, in this article, the author rebuts the idea expressed by K.C. Chang, who believes that every religion connected decoration should have a meaning and obligatory represent the ideology of the people. The problem with the pieces of art that were under analysis was that there was a lack of textual evidence concerning the value of those ritual vessels as well as of other artworks that Bagley uses to develop his argument. Nevertheless, such approach allows him to indicate the weaknesses in the reasoning and, in this way, make his reasoning stronger. For example, Bagley puts an emphasis on the need to consider not only the potential symbolism of the painted elements but also to research the history of the elements and how they were used before. Bagley writes, No inventory of meanings will ever be enough to explain the appearance of the Lindisfarne page or the appearance of a Shang bronze , and he expresses reasonable claim here defending the idea of decorative value of respective elements (8). If the meaning of the ornaments was only characterized by symbolism and devoted to the beliefs expression, there would be no place for changes in the use of ornaments in definite time or otherwise. Nevertheless, the change of beliefs system did not always result in the change of decoration that were used. For instance, the description of the Erligang phase with the painted animals could not be applied to the pre Anyang bronzes showing no presence of the same images, as Bagley claims in his work (22 23). Respectively, the issue of the meaning of the elements should be replaced with the issue of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
