Albert Camus The Myth of Sisyphus Essays
Albert Camus The Myth of Sisyphus Albert Camus essay, The Myth Of Sisyphus is an insightful
analysis of the classic work, The Myth Of Sisyphus . In some regards Camus view of Sisyphus can
seem quite accurate and in tune with the original text, but based on Camus interpretation of the
justness of Sisyphus punishment, it is clear that the writer has some different ideas as well. Camus
concludes that this punishment does not have the effect the Gods had intended, and ultimately the
tragic hero must be seen as being happy . This is his greatest departure from the intent of the original
myth wherein the reader is left with the feeling that Sisyphus punishment can be seen as appropriate
and just. As his punishment for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the extent of Sisyphus? punishment is only described in the original story by a single sentence,
Camus takes great pains in describing the psychological effects it has on Sisyphus, and the mental
state he must be in to endure such an ordeal. In describing this, Camus focuses on the point at which
Sisyphus makes his decent back to gather his great rock. It is at this point that Camus makes clear as
to why he considers Sisyphus an ?absurd hero?. Assuming that this punishment can only be
considered tragic if Sisyphus becomes conscious of it, Camus points out that it is during this descent
that our main character becomes aware of his awful state, and in doing so becomes, ?superior to his
fate. He is stronger than his rock.? Camus suggests that Sisyphus is at ease with this punishment
because in this ?absurd? universe, man?s fate is the only thing that can be shaped by man, and in
doing so, that fate belongs to man. Sisyphus? rock belongs to him. If it is possible to see Sisyphus as
conscious during his descent, then it is surely possible that he is aware of his predicament during his
grueling ascent as well. Is Sisyphus not ?conscious? of the horrible punishment that he has been
handed by the Gods as he makes his way up the hill with his rock? It is his ascent that allows the
reader of the original story to remember what this act is supposed to represent, and it is the ascent that

Rejection From Society In The Loons, By Margaret Laurence
Essay
Rejection from society, forces an individual to alter their identity in order to be accepted by the people
around them. Many First Nations are viewed as outsiders, bringing a lot of racism toward them. In
The Loons by Margaret Laurence, Piquette is a Metis girl who is isolated from society and does not fit
in with her surroundings. This leads to her rejecting her personal identity as First Nations, trying to fit
in with societal norm. Piquette begins to assimilate into the culture around her and become things that
she is not. However, she becomes soon becomes unsatisfied with her artificial identity and depressed
in life, blocking out everyone around her. Through The Loons, Laurence demonstrates that when an
individual is isolated from society, it becomes difficult for them to integrate into the culture around
them without changing themselves.
Initially, Piquette is viewed as an outsider by society when she accepts her personal identity as Metis.
When Piquette is invited by Ewen to his summer cabin, Vanessa falsely believes that Piquette must be
in some way a daughter of the forest, a kind of junior prophetess of the wilds, who might impart to
me. If I took the right approach, some of the secrets which she undoubtedly knew where the
whippoorwill made her nest, how the coyote reared her young, or whatever it was that it said in
Hiawatha (112). Piquette and many other First Nations have been stereotyped and misinterpreted for
so long that society labels them with certain traits. When Ewen proposes that Piquette come to the
family s summer cabin, it is immediately rejected by Vanessa s grandmother saying if that half breed
youngster comes along to Diamond Lake, I m not going (110). The Metis are not accepted by the
majority of society, making it difficult for them to feel like they fit in and are appreciated throughout
the community. This creates a divide between society and the Metis and other First Nations groups.
Vanessa s warped views and perspectives about First Nations illustrate how the majority of society
views Aboriginal people.
After being rejected for her Metis identity, Piquette is forced to change in order to be accepted by the
people around her. Four years later, Vanessa

Asthma Case Study Essay
This paper will review a case study of a 30 year old patient who has been diagnosed with asthma and
allergies. The patient was put on the medications; albuterol, (Proventil), salmeterol (Sere vent), and
montelukast (Singular). The patient s provider told the patient to come back in two weeks for follow
up. If at that time she is still wheezing, he would put her on an oral corticosteroid (Kelleher, Sheryl
MS, CFNP, Class Assignment). This paper will define what asthma and its pathophysiology is, as well
as review the patients prescribed medications of albuterol, salmeterol, and montelukast. Lastly, a
review of corticosteroids and their adverse effects, dosing, and other implications will be discussed.
Asthma can be defined as a chronic pulmonary disease that involves inflammation and
bronchospasms. To fully understand asthma and its attributes, one must understand the
pathophysiology of asthma, including the lower respiratory tract, and the bronchiolar smooth muscle.
Stated simply, the major role of the respiratory system is to bring oxygen into the human body, and
remove carbon dioxide (Adams, Holland, Urban,). This is nonetheless respiration, or the exchange of
gases. Another phenomenon occurring in our respiratory system is ventilation. This is when the air
moves in and out of the lungs.
Bronchiolar smooth muscle is located in the Bronchiole and plays a very important role in the
physiology as well. They either contract or relax. Relaxation of the bronchiole smooth

Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report
Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane
By: Melinda Martin
UBT1: Western Governors University
Introduction
This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane. Just
like with real airplanes, paper airplanes rely on aerodynamics to get the airplane to fly, although, they
may not look or fly the same they use the same. Changing the postion of where the weight is
distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far.
Literature Review
According to the article Four Forces on an Airplane, weight is always directed to the cented of the
earth. (National Aeronaustics and Space Administration, n.d.). There are other forces ... Show more

The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a 16 foot
tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper
airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm
paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position
to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled
variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and
threw with my right arm.
Hypothesis:
Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change
the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of
the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go
up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of
the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance.
Materials and Methods:
To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to conduct
the experiment.
3 pieces of 9 x 12 construction paper
3 28 mm paper clips weighing approx .5grams
1 16 ft tape measurer
1 pencil to documnt the distance

Comparing Two Advertisements
As time progresses, many companies change the style in which they portray their advertisement. In the
two Chanel advertisements, one being from 1937 and the other being from 2007, many comparisons
and contrasts can be distinguished. Both ads are similar in their look and target audience, while they
also have different styles to them. The vintage ad is a more dark and gloomy ad, while the modern ad
is a more light and bright advertisement. The target audience of both advertisements is women who
want a perfume to make them feel beautiful, and the purpose of both ads is to persuade consumers of
why Chanel is the best perfume to purchase. However, the techniques of both advertisements are very
different. Even though the advertisements were made in two different centuries, they both share many
commonalities. Neither advertisement contained a slogan. However, both ads are selling Chanel No. 5
perfume and both ads display a design of the perfume bottle. By doing so, this allows the audience to
see a visual representation of what they will be getting if they purchase the product. Also, the ad is
using beautiful women that are wearing nice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of famous celebrities in the advertisements was a source of further persuasion of the target
audience, being that some women desire to be like those celebrities. Although the perfumes were
created many decades apart, they shared the same purpose, yet used different methods to do so. The
two ads shared many differences, one being the amount of textual information. During the days of
vintage advertisements, producers believed that the text was more important, whereas in modern ads,
producers believe that consumers will be sold on the picture rather than the text. Both advertisement
producers were able to clearly illustrate the product and its design, as well as their target audience,
thus strengthening the

Packing A Hospital Delivery Bag
Packing a hospital delivery bag can be a little daunting for a new mother since she does not know
what to carry with her. If it is your first time, you will probably have looked online and gotten an idea
of what is required. At all times, your hospital documents should be with you. You should write down
a checklist for what you might need on that special day so that you don t forget any essentials.
Nevertheless, in several hospitals, you will be told what you are required to bring among their
requirements when you are due. The hospital might be in a position to provide just one or two of some
of the items due to demand. However, you might want to carry a few items with you from home.
Other than the basic essentials such as toiletries and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most essential items you require when going to the labor ward include: A Dressing Gown A
dressing gown is one of the items you cannot go into the labour ward without. It is what you will be
required to put on during the hours before birth. You can have at least two gowns because one will be
used after the birth. In case one gets dirty, the labour ward can be really messy, you have a change of
gowns. Most hospitals are also warm so carrying a lightweight gown is ideal. Due to the surrounding a
dark coloured gown id preferred because it will help disguise any stains. Pair of slippers Having the
slippers is always comfortable for you. You may enter the hospital with anything you want but once
you are inside the hospital you need to have a slip on slippers in which you can get it on and off. It is
advisable to carry a pair of slip ons or slippers that are easy to put on and get off, as you may still be
exhausted from giving birth. Nightdress or T shirt After the baby comes, a nightdress or a t shirt is a
much needed requirement. After delivery you might needed to stay a day or two in the hospital and
this will come in handy. You don t need new or expensive clothes to the ward, an old pair of t shirt will
do just fine. These clothes are effortless to put on and take off and since you might still be feeling the
effects of the birth they are ideal. You can also bring one or two front opening nightgowns for

Surface Water Interactions
1.1 Introduction
Groundwater is in contact with surface water. However, traditionally, groundwater and surface water
used to be considered as separate water resources (Winter, 1998). Because of that, management of
groundwater and surface water resources poses a risk of allocating the same water twice in the water
budget (Geosciences Australia, 2013). Not only two resources are in close contact rather they do
interact. So, Winter (1998) considered groundwater and surface water as a single resource.
Surface water commonly is hydraulically connected to ground water, but the interactions are difficult
to observe and measure (Winter, 1998). Interaction depends upon understanding the effect of
topography, geology and climate of the groundwater ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Webb (2003) conducted numerical analysis of source water dynamics of stream bounded alluvial
aquifers, along the Ohio River in northern panhandle of West Virginia, with consideration of lateral
infiltration of groundwater from bedrock aquifer. However, the author did not verify her model to the
field data. On the other hand, Kozar and McCoy (2004) presented groundwater surface water
interaction and simulation of groundwater flow in the alluvial aquifers from the northern panhandle of
West Virginia without considering recharge form adjacent bedrock and leakage from overlying
tributary streams. Although, Bader et al., (1997) and Unthank (1999) independently identified that the
alluvium along the Ohio River, West Virginia and Kentucky respectively is recharged by the following
means: (1) precipitation on the flood plain, (2) inflow from fractures in the bedrock beneath and
adjacent to the alluvium, (3) inflow from tributary streams through gravel deltas and bedding plane
partings, and (4) induced inflow from the river. Water flowing in tributary streams can percolate
through the deltas to the gravel under the clay silt layer (Grain, 1966). Unthank (2013) updated model
and reran it which generated significant difference between measured water levels and model
computed water levels in the aquifer. The author concluded that more accurate and site specific
estimates of field parameters, refined model geometry, and additional numerical method improve

International Relations Essay
The first paradigm of international relations is the theory of Realism. Realism is focused on ideas of
self interest and the balance of power. Realism is also divided into two categories, classical realism
and neo realism. Famous political theorist, Hans Morgenthau was a classical realist who believed that
national interest was based on three elements, balance of power, military force, and self interest
(Kleinberg 2010, 32). He uses four levels of analysis to evaluate the power of a state. The first is that
power and influence are not always the same thing. Influence means the ability to affect the decision
of those who have the power to control outcomes and power is the ability to determine outcomes. An
example of influence and power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The power of a state is always contextual and relative. The final level of analysis Morgenthau
considers to be important is whether or not the power is legitimate and moral or if it is illegitimate and
immoral. Legitimate and moral power carries considerable weight in the international community.
However, if the power of a state is derived from illegitimate sources such as a dictatorship the
international community will be less responsive to that state, weakening its power. Weak or small
states may enter into alliances with stronger states to increase their power and influence within the
international community (Kleinberg 2010, 33 34). Morgenthau also believed that the charisma and
personality of a leader was very important when reviewing the balance of power and understanding a
state s self interest (Kleinberg 2010, 32). Realism focuses on the balance of power and how it impacts
of actions of state actors within the international political system. Morgenthau said that, The
aspirations for power on the part of several nations, each trying to either maintain or overthrow the
status quo, leads of necessity to a configuration that is called the balance of power and to policies that
aim at preserving it (Morgenthau 1967,131). He goes on by explain that not only is the balance of
power and the policies that protect it inevitable but also that they are essential for

Basic Needs In America
The United States of America thrives on freedom, which is simply one s power to act, speak, think,
and prosper. But one can only prosper if he or she has the starting point of basic material needs. The
idea of basic needs refers to shelter, food, and clothing ... (What Are Basic Needs). True freedom is
only possible when basic material needs are met, and the government must establish economic
security and secure basic economic rights, because it would help people escape poverty and achieve
the American Dream, and it would provide the country with a historically proven, improved state.
Providing basic material needs and economic security is important because it allows people to escape

Pros And Cons Of Embryonic Stem Cells
Should Embryonic Stem Cells Be Used To Cure Diseases?
Alan C
Embryonic stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are able to differentiate into any type of cell in the
body, and they are obtained from four or five day old embryos that are in the blastocyst stage of
human development. For example, an embryonic stem cell could turn into brain, skin, muscle, and
bone cells. Stem cells have the potential to cure a plethora of diseases, but they come at a cost. The
researchers that obtain these stem cells destroy the human embryo, therefore killing human life. The
use of embryonic stem cells should be eliminated because embryonic stem cells can be unpredictable

These cells were named IPS cells. Stem cells can also be found in adults, children, infants, placentas,
umbilical cords, and cadavers. These cells can then be reprogrammed into IPS cells. The difference
between embryonic stem cells and IPS cells is that IPS cells can be obtained without harm. These cells
have been proven to be more effective. Currently, according to a website called stemcellresearch.org
there have been seventy three adult stem cell research treatments, and zero embryonic stem cell
research treatments. Scientists have been successful with using IPS cells to treat diseases like
Parkinson`s disease, autoimmune diseases, stroke, anemia, cancer, heart attack, and diabetes. Dr. Oz

go back in time so they are like they were when you were first made, and then they will start to make

What is Female Circumsicion Essay
Female Circumcision The World Health Organization defines female circumcision as a procedure
involving partial or total removal of the external genitalia for cultural, religious, or non therapeutic
reasons(1). It is commonly practiced by Muslims in Africa and various parts of the Middle East.
According to Loretta Kopelman, there are over 80 million women who have had some variation of this
procedure. Female circumcision is categorized into three types; Type one is the complete or partial
removal of the clitoris, type two removes the clitoris completely as well as some of the labia minora,
and type three is known as Infibulation, the sewing shut of the vulva leaving only a hole big enough

There is no hygienic or medical benefit for circumcising a female. Also, a male is circumcised shortly
after birth, whereas females experience this procedure at much later ages such as seven or eight. In
2012, the U.N. passed a resolution that condemns female genital mutilation, or circumcision, as
harmful to women and girls (Kolodny). This article argues that female genital mutilation should be a
crime, not a cultural practice, but even if there was some way to make this practice illegal, how would
it ever be enforced in the lawless countries that it is commonly practiced. Cultural relativism is a
concept that the norms, values, morals, and beliefs of a particular culture cannot be judged as right or
wrong, moral or not moral, by a culture that may not share the same beliefs as the other culture. In the
case of the article, Female Genital Mutilation: Crime or Culture, because of cultural relativism, the
practice of circumcising a female is not a crime, but a cultural practice that upholds the traditions of
that culture. The concept of cultural relativism also keeps the practice of this genital mutilation from
being judged by other societies, such as the views that the people in the United States have against a
procedure like this. People who want to continue these practices resent cross cultural criticisms, seeing
them as assaults on their social traditions and identity (Kopelman, 221). In cultures

Application Of Delone Mclean s Information System
ABSTRACT The study was conducted to validate the application of DeLone McLean s Information
System (IS) success model (2003) in a local setup in Kenya and to evaluate the success of a enterprise
resource planning (ERP) system from a user perspective. It was carried out at Coffee Research
Foundation (CRF) in Kenya. A number of past studies to measure the success of information systems
in different settings were reviewed leading to the choice and use of the updated DeLone McLean IS
success model in this study. The research involved the use of questionnaires as well as interviews and
focus group discussion (FGD). A number of hypotheses were tested and the results indicated that the
updated DeLone McLean s IS success model was valid as a useful model for this particular study. The
study also indicated that the variables system quality, information quality, and service quality stood
out as critical determinants of how information and communication technology systems can be used to
improve organizational performance. Keywords: ERP system, DeLone McLean IS Success Model,

Describe The Main Hypothesis Tested In The Study
1. Describe the main hypothesis tested in the study.
The main hypothesis being tested within the study was whether or not the fusiform gyrus was a
Region of Interest (ROI) that specialised in the perception of the human face. This main hypothesis
was confirmed in Part 1 of testing and was thus expanded in Part II and III, in which they eliminated
alternative hypothesis.
2. Explain why this new ROI technique is important for fMRI research.
The Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a functional neuroimaging procedure that used
MRI technology to measure our brains activity through blood flow changes and our voxels.
In past experiments the researcher would have been required to scan images of the entire brain for
each comparison, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explain one of the alternative accounts of the function of the FFA and how the current study is able to
refute (prove wrong) this account.
Imaging studies in the past have reported that the region of the fusiform gyrus is more active during
face recognition than object viewing, during face matching than location matching and during viewing
normal faces other than scrambled faces or textures. This research was a great beginning, but it does
not establish that this FFA is specifically involved in face recognition, as there is a range of alternative
interpretations of what can activate our brains. These alternative interpretations include low level
feature extraction, visual attention that is greater in faces and recognition of basic items and
recognition of human objects.
To test the first hypothesis the researcher ran an initial test to determine that the Region of Interest was
the fusiform gyrus. Following this he then measured the activity in this specific region to subjects
using four comparison tasks. Each of these tasks tested the alternative accounts that were previously
listed.
Part III tested one of these alternative accounts for faces compared with another human object e.g
hands. In these tests the data that was collected displayed higher intensity reactions in the ROI when
parts of the face were compared to viewing human

Role Of Women In Beowulf And Lanval
Women have had many different roles in the history of European literature but have generally been
restricted to the roles assigned to them in a largely patriarchal society. As a result of this society, these
roles have often been powerless ones. This calls into question the constitution of a powerful woman in
literature: in Beowulf, being a powerful woman means becoming the bond between families and
alliances; in Lanval, power comes from assertion and control a powerful woman is a woman in charge.
The primary difference between the representation of women in Beowulf and Lanval is that the latter
transcends overarching patriarchal boundaries, and the former does not; the reason for their respective
representations lies in the literary time periods in which the stories were written. From this, one can
see that the introduction of romance as a central theme gave way to new representations and roles of
women in predominantly heteropatriarchal English literature and gives new meaning to the analysis of
stories like these. Beowulf is an Old English epic poem that tells a story of a Geat hero named
Beowulf who comes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of the Danes, and agrees to help his people defeat the
monstrous Grendel. After successfully ridding the land of the beast, Beowulf eventually becomes the
king of the Geats for quite some time until his own demise at the hands of another beast. The story
was influenced by both pagan and Christian mythologies as it was written during a

Style Of Filmmaking In The Killing, By Stanley Kubrick
Stanley Kubrick is known for his distinct style of filmmaking in such films like 2001: A Space
Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange. While those films do showcase the sense of auteurship from
Kubrick, his earlier works are more conventional when compared to the 1950s style of filmmaking.
The Killing is a 1956 noir film and Kubrick s third feature film, and was produced by United Artists
with a $200,000 investment and $320,000 budget from James B. Harris. This was also the first
collaboration of producer James B. Harris and Kubrick, and would later on produce two more films.
Unlike famous noir films like Double Indemnity, The Killing did not become instantly successful, but
it became more noteworthy in the retrospect as Kubrick became an established filmmaker in his later
films. Like almost every Kubrick film, The Killing was based on another material, and in this case, a
1955 low budget novel titled Clean Break by crime novelist Lionel White. The movie was adapted by
hardboiled author Jim Thompson, in which Kubrick was also credited, and when compared to the
book, Thompson did expand the roles of the characters and motivations. The movie does retain the
non linear structure of the book, and it also adds voiceover to explain the time change. Between the
two, the film did become more popular than the book, especially when the book s title is often
changed to The Killing in retrospect.

Cost Proposed By Mangalore And Knapp
In the standpoint of economic consequences, costs incurred by schizophrenia are all tunnelled down to
society and public sector. Cost proposed by Mangalore and Knapp (2007) was £6.7billion in 2004/05
where society and public bear 4.7million and 2million respectively. With respect to this, follow up
estimation in 2010 from LSE showed a rough 3 fold increase with £11.8 billion of societal cost and
£7.2 billion on public sector. This study might have a more realistic outlook with additional inclusion
of tax forgone as taxation has major role in country s economy and funding of public sectors such as
NHS in England. Both studies showed that the key driver costs are inpatient hospitalisation and
unemployment.
Practically, direct and tangible costs incurred by schizophrenia would be from health services, social
care, unemployment, tax forgone, premature mortality, unpaid care, institutional costs, private
expenditures, criminal justice services and other public expenditures such as social security payment
and security system. All these are shouldered by the society and public sector.
Health services mainly comprise of hospitalisation, medication, psychiatric services; costs in social
care mainly involve nursing and institutionalisation whereas social security payments would be
payment of income support, invalidity benefit and disability allowances. All these are bear by society
and public sector such as NHS where its funding comes from tax payers. Among these, in patient

I M Black Who s Innocent Analysis
In 2015 racial conflicts and struggle for power still occur, even though slavery ended in 1863 and
segregation ended around 1950 s and 1960 s. In Shelby Steele s I m Black, You re White, Who s
Innocent, both writers emphasize the key issues of races accusing one another and fighting for
innocence and power. While Ellis at first blames the blacks for his financial problems and for his
inferiority, he later forms a union with them. Steele experiences an awkward conversation about race
with the whites and observes the game of innocence being played between them. Both authors clearly
point out that blacks and whites fail to understand each other because of the desire for power.
Terkel and Steele s essays portray the idea of races blaming one another for their problems. In Studs
Terkel s oral history, Ellis is born financially unstable. Although his father works hard to support the
family, he doesn t even have enough to buy adequate clothes for Ellis. Thus, Ellis always leaves
school in the late afternoon because he feels inferior and embarrassed by the clothes he wears. As he
continues to have a hard life, he begins to grow bitter. He states, I began to blame it on black people. I
had to hate somebody. He didn t want to blame it on his father or America, so he blames ... Show more

For example, in Steele s essay, we see a game being played to win over power. The black engineer
accuses the whites for being evil because his daughter is in a white school; thus confirming his
innocence. The engineer claims that he is the victim and places the guilt on the whites. To counter

Psychological Disorders In Lewis Carroll s Alice In...
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because
everything would be what it isn t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn t be. And what it wouldn t be,
it would. You see? Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland. Furthermore, a desire for one to bend the
world as they see fit, even when what they see fit isn t meant to be. There are many ways to read the
novel Alice in Wonderland , it holds not one point of view, but many which can be interpreted in
several ways. Analyzed from the critical viewpoint of physiological, readers may discover some
interesting and remarkable surprises. The specific point I would like to discuss today are the
physiological disorders this novel holds, such as the lunatic Red Queen who was wrapped whole with
narcissistic behaviors and personality disorders, the unimaginable feeling of loneliness portrayed
throughout Alice s adventure, and a dream anxiety disorder/psychosis or schizophrenia which
represented itself as the actual story, viewed through the main character Alice. To begin with, there are
many characters in Alice in Wonderland, who, despite the normality in their world, are rather odd; all
whom which held a distinctive characteristic that revolved around all their actions, words, and
surroundings. The Red Queen, who is described to have a very large head, portrays a character who is
full of herself, hence the size of the head; she frequently tends to put herself in a position in which she

Term Limit Essay
John Dingell, a member of the United States House of Representatives, served fifty nine years and
twenty one days at this position. With no term limits set for the federal legislative positions in the
United States, is this representation becoming redundant? Term limits can potentially be crucial in
political reform of the United States that would bring new perspectives to federal legislative positions,
warrant regular federal legislative turnover, and reduce incentives for wasteful election related federal
spending. Term limits can also pervert the entire understanding of what democracy is, by substituting
the people s will with term limits that may go against what the people want. United States federal

This amendment is known as the Term Limitation Amendment, in addition to limiting terms of elected
officials within the Arkansas state government, the amendment also stated that any person having
served three or more terms as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Arkansas
would no longer be eligible for re election as a United States Representative from Arkansas. The
amendment also provided that any person who has served two or more terms as a member of the
United States Senate from Arkansas would be ineligible for re election as a United States Senator from
Arkansas. Arkansas justified their 73rd amendment by citing the tenth amendment of the United States
Constitution. Using the residual clause, Arkansas argued that the states had the power to limit terms.
The Supreme Court, in a five to four decision, ruled against Arkansas. The court justified their ruling
by showing that the Constitution prohibits states from adopting Congressional qualifications in
addition to those enumerated. A state congressional term limits amendment is unconstitutional if it has
the likely effect of handicapping a class of candidates and has the sole purpose of creating additional
qualifications indirectly. Furthermore, ...allowing individual States to craft their own congressional

The Night Of The Living Dead
The true origins of zombies and the undead can likely be traced back to the stories men and women
first told around campfires. They certainly date back to the origins of written language in tales such as
the epic of Gilgamesh, and have taken on many different attributes through the generations. The
shambling creatures that were first displayed in the movie titled The Night of the Living Dead are
what many would consider today to be the typical representation of the modern zombie story (Estes,
2012).
The zombies in the story Meathouse Man by George R. R. Martin do not follow this trend. They are
throwbacks to, and futuristic interpretations of, the Hattian zombie that is often acknowledged to be
the modern origin of today s zombie mythology.

Organized Exercise Analysis
The goal I choose to follow over the last two months was to have some form of organized exercise a
day, whether it be running, basketball, or lifting weights. When I first made the plan, it was to run
every morning at 11am and then again at 9pm, and any other exercise that happened to cross my way
that day I would also include. However, by then end of my trip I found my plan had changed much
from what it started as out. To help with the work of accomplishing this goal, I used two useful tools I
had that I thought would make it easier. Firstly, I had my parents send me a text every morning to
make sure I was awake and working out, or at least putting in some kind of effort to do something.
Second, whenever I went running I brought along my roommate ... Show more content on

that it would provide some challenge as I would have to go run twice every day, which would be good
exercise and it did turn out to be, so I would say that I did set a good performance goal. The barriers
that would prevent me from reaching my goal is laziness, having a poor diet, or doing something that
could prevent me from running, but more on that later. I overcame the barriers by having my

The History of Bosnia
The history of Bosnia was full of violence, anger and war. Bosnia was once the epicenter of former
Yugoslavia. The state of Bosnia dates back to the Second Century and was quite different from current
Bosnia. Second Century Bosnia consisted of Latin speaking settlers from Roman Empire and they
were also Christians. (History of Bosnia and Herzegovina). The first ruler of Bosnia, in the high
middle ages, was Ban Boric. The second ruler was Ban Kulin and he ruled in the late 1100 s. Ban
Kulin was a well respected leader who ruled for three decades by keeping the peace and stability
within the state. He was able to strengthen the economy by signing treaties with Venice and
Dubrovnik. (History of Bosnia and Herzegovina)
After Kulin s ruling, Bosnia was taken over by Ottoman. Although Ottoman took Bosnia over, they
preserved the Bosnian identity within the culture. Ottoman ruled from 1463 1878. At this time, the
population was deeply affected because of frequent wars with European powers and there were high
rates of migration. Also at this time Islam was the largest ethnic group due to the high rise of
conversions to Islam. Due to the rise of Islam conversion, the population rate of Catholicism went
down. In 1875, the Ottoman Empire fell because of the Herzegovinian Rebellion and the uprising of
peasants. Because of these events and the Treaty of Berlin, the Ottomans were forced to give control
over to Austria Hungary. (History of Bosnia and

Food Waste Of Food
In 2012, enough food was discarded at the retail and consumer levels alone to provide 2,000 kcal per
day to 84% of the US adult population (Spiker et al). In comparison to this fact, it is also estimated
that 14.6 percent of US households are labeled food insecure (Bartfield et al). It is deeply concerning
that a large portion of the US population faces hunger on a daily basis while so much food is being
wasted just at the consumer and retail levels. Furthermore, this wasted food does not account for the
food that never even sees the market due to over production food deemed unfit for the market,
spillage, etc. This means there is even more food wasted that could provide for the hungry.
Food waste, meaning any food product produced and not consumed, occurs at three main levels:
production, retail, and consumer. Losses in production occur when food is discarded before arriving at
its destination after leaving the farm. Losses in retail occur when food is discarded before being sold
to restaurants or individuals. Finally, consumer losses occur when any food is discarded after the retail
level. Various reasons for discarding food on any level include but are not limited to spoilage,
aesthetics (e.g. bruising, coloring, size, shape), overproduction or over purchasing, and damaged
packaging. It should also be noted that a difficulty arises when analyzing food loss because of inedible
parts of food. For example, meat sold bone in consists of a total weight when sold to

The Mystery Of Vampires From Folklore Tales
Ideas, beliefs, and theories of monsters have been a part of culture since the dawn of mankind. Over
time, these gothic entities transformed into specific characters with names, features, and appearances.
One particular monster that sustained themselves over time have been vampires. In fact, stories of
vampires have been with civilization for centuries.
The exact origin of vampires is unknown and there have been many speculations and theories of these
monsters origins. Many scholars believe that vampires originated from folklore tales, which spread all
throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, England, and Ireland. In addition, early civilizations associated
vampires with unexplained events such as death, disease, and misfortune.
Scholars would theorize vampires were ways ancient people would associate with uncanny events that

Literature Review Of The Out Of Body Experience
The out of body experience is a phenomenon experienced by a significant percentage of the
population. During this experience, an individual perceives his or her environment from a point of
view that is separate from his or her physical body. In some cases, individuals have reported looking
down upon their own bodies, although Irwin (2000) suggested that the details of the experience may
be determined by the individual s immediate needs. For instance, in a life threatening situation, one
may perceive a paradisal environment (commonly noted in near death experiences). Typically,
psychological processes such as memory, thought, and perception are unified and a separation of these
processes is known as dissociation. Because the out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the study, postal questionnaires were completed by 113 university students, including 28 men
and 85 women. These questionnaires were comprised of three surveys. The first brief set of questions
pertained to demographic information and the experience and frequency of out of body experiences.
The second survey was the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES), which was used to generate scores
regarding both pathological dissociation and nonpathological dissociation (or psychological
absorption). Finally, the Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire (SDQ 20) was used to measure the
participant s proneness to somatoform dissociation. Within the questionnaires, 44 of the 113
participants reported having had an out of body experience. To determine the relationship between
dissociation and the out of body experience, the explored variables were examined in a logistic
regression analyses. This showed the the SDQ 20 was the only independent variable that was able to
separate the participants who had acknowledged out of body experiences from those who did not.
Additionally, the SDQ 20 was also the only variable that significantly contributed to the prediction of
the frequency of out of body experiences. This, not only suggested that the out of body experience was
related to dissociative phenomena, but also indicated a relationship between somatoform dissociation,
specifically, and out of body experiences. Accordingly,

A Touch Of Evil Analysis
A Touch of Evil (1958) is a dark film noir melodrama from director Orson Welles who also stars as
corrupt police chief Hank Quinlan. A Touch of Evil takes place in a small Mexican American border
town. Handsome Charlton Heston is nicely tanned to play the role of Mexican born government
investigator Mike Vargas. His wife Susan, an American blond beauty played by Janet Leigh makes the
other policemen envious of Mike. This dark sinister thriller is a classic film study in police corruption
and minorities. Welles stylistic film noir classic is filmed using a dark drab lighting appearance with
the feeling that it is always dusk in this shabby border town.
Henry Mancini s musical score for a Touch of Evil opens with a Latin Mamba style arraignment that

However, what it really suggests is that a woman isn t worth listening to if her sexuality isn t involved.
Once Nancy reaches Billy s hideout, other women are more than happy to assist him in raping her. It is

Daoism is one of the main philosophical traditions in China and the East. Daoism uses nature as a
guide to understand the way to live and by using common themes like the Yin and Yang and The One

from chapters stated above help identify the meaning of Daoism, and what this way of living reflects.
Laozi and the Dao de Jing reflect the Yin and Yang throughout the book, although chapter 28 delves
further into the idea of the Yin and Yang through the representation of female and male.

Kylie Jenner, famous teen beauty influencer, has several pictures of her online slyly eating a gummy
bear by the brand name Sugar Bear Hair, which endorses long and thick beautiful hair. People across
the world see this and they want to look and be like them, and so people buy these products or go
through workouts and procedures to look the way people deem is socially acceptable. What celebrities
do greatly influences younger generations. A factor with celebrity endorsements is that the celebrities
do not have to be fans of what they endorse, they are earning thousands of dollars for taking a picture
with the products that they are endorsing. They are also paid thousands of dollars to tweet
preconstructed, public relations made, 140 or less character tweets on twitter. Celebrities that send this
out, either a tweet or photograph, are instantly seen by millions of people across the world. Celebrities
have trillions of followers on social media; one could only imagine the impact that these people have
on society. For people s favorite celebrities, there are little notification buttons that can be turned on so
that a person is instantly notified what their favorite influencer is doing. Celebrities influence what
people post on social media. Everyone wants to have that tumblr

Mao Zedong Analysis
In order for a revolution to occur, it is essential to have a leader the revolutionaries can unite under; a
leader as persistent as Mao Zedong. Mao s birth into the peasant class taught him about the rigid social
structures of China at a young age, as he recognized the strife peasants endured on a daily basis. He
knew how they thought and emphasized with their thirst for equity in China s rigid social society
(Calkins). As Mao grew older, his recognition of the oppressed class allowed him to develop an
affinity towards the principles of Marxism Leninism, which were utilized in restoring China to its
original greatness (Zedong qtd in Lynch 4). Mao believed that the peasants fury and desperation was
powerful enough to spark a communist revolution, leading to equality and justice in China (Lynch 3).
The peasants who were mistreated for so long rose to the occasion of Mao s advocating for their
rights. His popularity and influence among the masses of China was increased. Mao rose to power by
1949 through increased peasantry support, giving him the authorization to change China into a
communist country.
Prior to the Second Chinese Civil War, Mao gained the loyalty of the oppressed class through
presenting his ideology in a flattering fashion. Mao allowed his followers to know he recognized their
strife, and taught them the importance of confidence and violence in a revolution. He brainwashed
them with promises for a New China so they d believe he himself was

Arguments Against Interracial Adoption
Interracial adoption has long been a contentious issue even among devoted adoption supporters.
Parents who chose to take these children help them escape life in foster care. Adoption is a permanent
obligation that impact the whole family, especially your adoptive child. It is important to look past the
lovable faces and think through the ups and downs of interracial adoption. Before the 1940 s it was not
acceptable for white parents to adopt a child of a different culture? During this time, efforts were made
to place children with adoptive families with the same skin color and religion. Then in 1944 the Boys
and Girl Aid Society noticed a growing number of minority children waiting for adoption. This group
focused on the children of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supporters of interracial adoption have argued that interracial empowers the community at large just
by their presence. They build consciousness of how people of different races can mix and relate
positively to each other. In addition, studies have shown that children s self esteem, adjustment, and
the capacity to form bonds were not adversely affected by their adoption. Still, parents should be
aware that children of a racial minority group develop their sense of ethnic identity differently. Parents
need to make sure their children are showing proper and positive environments. Last but not least,
racism is a problem adoptive parents cannot avoid. However, they should openly discuss that there
will be people that dislike them simply because of the color of their skin. Parents will not be able to
protect their child at all times, but steps can be taken to protect the child. For instance, stopping Uncle
Joe from coming to Thanksgiving because you know that he makes off colored jokes that will hurt you
and your child. To a move to a community where there is a mix of cultural

Body Art Research Paper
When someone refers a tattoo by a body art, I know that they somewhat either have some themselves
or love them! When you mention body art to someone they look at you like you are an alien or they
just ignore the fact of you mentioning tattoos. These situations are rather common from what I can
see. Two men were talking behind where I was sitting, taking notes, minding my own business. I
happen to have ears that love to be curious so I didn t control what I heard and what I didn t. The
conversation was around two adults about one of their teenager, don t ask me if it was a teenage boy
or girl, I have no clue! One the man was very frustrated almost looked worried while the other was
confident, seemed more relaxed than the other! The calm guy mentioned body arts while the other was
staring at him in an odd way. I looked at them both wondering who had tattoos and who didn t...
Surprise, surprise, the one that said body arts had two sleeves while the other didn t have any visible
ones. Before I had tattoos myself, I didn t pay attention to people that had them or didn t even
bothered listening to how people view them. I always liked tattoos, always thought it was some type
of art, but it wasn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want a souvenir of how much the experiences affected my personality, made me stronger as a person
even if it s just a plane to people to me it has meanings. Finally, I would love to get a yin yang on my

the masculine... It s also a reminder of how life and people are. My father isn t a good person
whatsoever but when I look at a yin yang, the dark side also has a bit of light, so if my father is
awfully terrible, I know he has some good in him, hiding away, hopefully. Never give up on

Those who prefer other way of service can easily access information on LM s website about all auto
components and inform themselves about mechanics who can service their car. Channels There are
two key channels what LM uses to deliver value for its customers: the community and the regional
microfactories. The community is a core element of LM s business model and consists of a group of
car enthusiasts and designers who communicate mainly on an online platform, but they also meet in
person during events organized by LM. Microfactories serve as places for car manufacturing but they
mean a lot more for the company. They are places to gather together with the community and to work
together with customers whilst assembling. Both key channels are important parts of LM s marketing
strategy and play a prominent role in the customer experience. LM uses mainly these own and direct
channels to reach its customers. It raises awareness about its cars using mostly its website. This
platform also helps potential customers in evaluating the offerings of LM as community members
share their opinion, knowledge and experience there. The purchase, the delivery and the after sales
service happen through the channel of microfactories. Customer Relationships Three categories of
customer relationships co exist in the business model: personal assistance, communities, and co

The Genzanian Genocide And The Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan Genocide took place for in 1994 where the Hutus began to massacre the Tutsis due to
many years of oppression aided by Belgian influences. While the Palestinian Genocide occurred
between 1947 1948 and Zionists wished to overtake Palestinian land and remove all Arab influences
while expanding upon their territory. Yet, the Rwandan Genocide and the Palestinian Genocide had a
distinguished similarity; to ethnically cleanse the land. Post WWII, Jew s wished for land separate
from European Anti Semitic beliefs. The Holocaust had further pushed Zionists agenda to take
Palestine due to their historical and religious background within the land. Thus, a significant amount
of Jews from Europe and America called for a separate Jewish state. During this time, Britain had a
mandate over Palestine and were authorized to rule the land. However, given that the dispute was
becoming increasingly controversial, the British withdrew from the conflict and gave authority of the
land to the UN. Then the UN had formed the UNSCOP, United Nation Special Committee on
Palestine. Their objective was to separate Jewish and Arab land. There the UN authorized the Israeli
state and caused the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. They had forced the Palestinians to
flee their villages in order to place arriving Jewish settlers. Various tactics were used to remove
Palestinians from the land. For instance. Israelis used arab radio broadcasts to inhibit fear within the
arab community. Such

Historical View Of Slavery
This paper shall examine A Scriptural, Ecclesiastical, and Historical View of Slavery, from the Days of
the Patriarch Abraham to Nineteenth Century (1864) by John Henry Hopkins, Bishop of the Episcopal
Diocese of Vermont, and Critical History and Defense of the Old Testament Canon by Moses Stuart,
pastor of the Centre Church of New Haven and scholar at Andover Theological Seminary. Hopkins
and Stuart notable northern writers on Christian theology were theologically compatible with their
southern contemporaries. This harmony becomes readily apparent when comparing them with

In fact, many maintained, the Apostles affirmed human bondage. A specific example was the Epistle
of Paul to Philemon, in which Paul addressed Philemon on how he should treat his runaway slave,
Onesimus, who had converted to Christianity. An anonymous author, published in De Bow s Review,
which was one of the most important antebellum journals in the South, and Hopkins argued Paul s
message was not one of abolition, but of perpetual servitude. This was not something Paul would have
done, if enslavement was sinful, declared De Bow s Review, Now, had holding slaves been a crime,
Paul s duty to Philemon would have required him to instruct Philemon, that he had no rights over
Onesimus, but that attempt to hold him in servitude, was criminal[.] Moreover, as an Apostle of
Christ, Paul had an obligation to instruct Christians according to His commands, as they pertained to
human bondage, believed Hopkins. Therefore, he questioned, Why does [Paul] not write to his
disciple, Philemon, and rebuke him for the awful sin of holding a fellow man in bondage, and charge
it upon him, as a solemn duty, to emancipate his slaves, at the peril of his soul? Hopkins succinctly
offered an answer to this question, surmising, St. Paul was inspired, and knew the will of the Lord
Jesus Christ, and was only intent on obeying it. Seemingly, writers in both regions read the

When searching, ask locals questions about the safety of the neighborhoods and constantly check the
local crime data with the police department. If you have children or plan to have a family, local public
school districts and school ranking should be considered. Amenities in the area matter when searching

  • 2. Albert Camus The Myth of Sisyphus Essays Albert Camus The Myth of Sisyphus Albert Camus essay, The Myth Of Sisyphus is an insightful analysis of the classic work, The Myth Of Sisyphus . In some regards Camus view of Sisyphus can seem quite accurate and in tune with the original text, but based on Camus interpretation of the justness of Sisyphus punishment, it is clear that the writer has some different ideas as well. Camus concludes that this punishment does not have the effect the Gods had intended, and ultimately the tragic hero must be seen as being happy . This is his greatest departure from the intent of the original myth wherein the reader is left with the feeling that Sisyphus punishment can be seen as appropriate and just. As his punishment for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the extent of Sisyphus? punishment is only described in the original story by a single sentence, Camus takes great pains in describing the psychological effects it has on Sisyphus, and the mental state he must be in to endure such an ordeal. In describing this, Camus focuses on the point at which Sisyphus makes his decent back to gather his great rock. It is at this point that Camus makes clear as to why he considers Sisyphus an ?absurd hero?. Assuming that this punishment can only be considered tragic if Sisyphus becomes conscious of it, Camus points out that it is during this descent that our main character becomes aware of his awful state, and in doing so becomes, ?superior to his fate. He is stronger than his rock.? Camus suggests that Sisyphus is at ease with this punishment because in this ?absurd? universe, man?s fate is the only thing that can be shaped by man, and in doing so, that fate belongs to man. Sisyphus? rock belongs to him. If it is possible to see Sisyphus as conscious during his descent, then it is surely possible that he is aware of his predicament during his grueling ascent as well. Is Sisyphus not ?conscious? of the horrible punishment that he has been handed by the Gods as he makes his way up the hill with his rock? It is his ascent that allows the reader of the original story to remember what this act is supposed to represent, and it is the ascent that Camus, although he describes it ... • 3. Rejection From Society In The Loons, By Margaret Laurence Essay Rejection from society, forces an individual to alter their identity in order to be accepted by the people around them. Many First Nations are viewed as outsiders, bringing a lot of racism toward them. In The Loons by Margaret Laurence, Piquette is a Metis girl who is isolated from society and does not fit in with her surroundings. This leads to her rejecting her personal identity as First Nations, trying to fit in with societal norm. Piquette begins to assimilate into the culture around her and become things that she is not. However, she becomes soon becomes unsatisfied with her artificial identity and depressed in life, blocking out everyone around her. Through The Loons, Laurence demonstrates that when an individual is isolated from society, it becomes difficult for them to integrate into the culture around them without changing themselves. Initially, Piquette is viewed as an outsider by society when she accepts her personal identity as Metis. When Piquette is invited by Ewen to his summer cabin, Vanessa falsely believes that Piquette must be in some way a daughter of the forest, a kind of junior prophetess of the wilds, who might impart to me. If I took the right approach, some of the secrets which she undoubtedly knew where the whippoorwill made her nest, how the coyote reared her young, or whatever it was that it said in Hiawatha (112). Piquette and many other First Nations have been stereotyped and misinterpreted for so long that society labels them with certain traits. When Ewen proposes that Piquette come to the family s summer cabin, it is immediately rejected by Vanessa s grandmother saying if that half breed youngster comes along to Diamond Lake, I m not going (110). The Metis are not accepted by the majority of society, making it difficult for them to feel like they fit in and are appreciated throughout the community. This creates a divide between society and the Metis and other First Nations groups. Vanessa s warped views and perspectives about First Nations illustrate how the majority of society views Aboriginal people. After being rejected for her Metis identity, Piquette is forced to change in order to be accepted by the people around her. Four years later, Vanessa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Asthma Case Study Essay This paper will review a case study of a 30 year old patient who has been diagnosed with asthma and allergies. The patient was put on the medications; albuterol, (Proventil), salmeterol (Sere vent), and montelukast (Singular). The patient s provider told the patient to come back in two weeks for follow up. If at that time she is still wheezing, he would put her on an oral corticosteroid (Kelleher, Sheryl MS, CFNP, Class Assignment). This paper will define what asthma and its pathophysiology is, as well as review the patients prescribed medications of albuterol, salmeterol, and montelukast. Lastly, a review of corticosteroids and their adverse effects, dosing, and other implications will be discussed. Asthma can be defined as a chronic pulmonary disease that involves inflammation and bronchospasms. To fully understand asthma and its attributes, one must understand the pathophysiology of asthma, including the lower respiratory tract, and the bronchiolar smooth muscle. Stated simply, the major role of the respiratory system is to bring oxygen into the human body, and remove carbon dioxide (Adams, Holland, Urban,). This is nonetheless respiration, or the exchange of gases. Another phenomenon occurring in our respiratory system is ventilation. This is when the air moves in and out of the lungs. Bronchiolar smooth muscle is located in the Bronchiole and plays a very important role in the physiology as well. They either contract or relax. Relaxation of the bronchiole smooth ... Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane By: Melinda Martin UBT1: Western Governors University Introduction This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane. Just like with real airplanes, paper airplanes rely on aerodynamics to get the airplane to fly, although, they may not look or fly the same they use the same. Changing the postion of where the weight is distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far. Literature Review According to the article Four Forces on an Airplane, weight is always directed to the cented of the earth. (National Aeronaustics and Space Administration, n.d.). There are other forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a 16 foot tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and threw with my right arm. Hypothesis: Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance. Materials and Methods: To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to conduct the experiment.

In the two Chanel advertisements, one being from 1937 and the other being from 2007, many comparisons and contrasts can be distinguished. Both ads are similar in their look and target audience, while they also have different styles to them. The vintage ad is a more dark and gloomy ad, while the modern ad is a more light and bright advertisement. The target audience of both advertisements is women who want a perfume to make them feel beautiful, and the purpose of both ads is to persuade consumers of why Chanel is the best perfume to purchase. However, the techniques of both advertisements are very different. Even though the advertisements were made in two different centuries, they both share many commonalities. Neither advertisement contained a slogan. However, both ads are selling Chanel No. 5 perfume and both ads display a design of the perfume bottle. By doing so, this allows the audience to see a visual representation of what they will be getting if they purchase the product. Also, the ad is using beautiful women that are wearing nice ... • 9. Surface Water Interactions 1.1 Introduction Groundwater is in contact with surface water. However, traditionally, groundwater and surface water used to be considered as separate water resources (Winter, 1998). Because of that, management of groundwater and surface water resources poses a risk of allocating the same water twice in the water budget (Geosciences Australia, 2013). Not only two resources are in close contact rather they do interact. So, Winter (1998) considered groundwater and surface water as a single resource. Surface water commonly is hydraulically connected to ground water, but the interactions are difficult to observe and measure (Winter, 1998). Interaction depends upon understanding the effect of topography, geology and climate of the groundwater ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, Kozar and McCoy (2004) presented groundwater surface water interaction and simulation of groundwater flow in the alluvial aquifers from the northern panhandle of West Virginia without considering recharge form adjacent bedrock and leakage from overlying tributary streams. Although, Bader et al., (1997) and Unthank (1999) independently identified that the alluvium along the Ohio River, West Virginia and Kentucky respectively is recharged by the following means: (1) precipitation on the flood plain, (2) inflow from fractures in the bedrock beneath and adjacent to the alluvium, (3) inflow from tributary streams through gravel deltas and bedding plane partings, and (4) induced inflow from the river. Water flowing in tributary streams can percolate through the deltas to the gravel under the clay silt layer (Grain, 1966). Unthank (2013) updated model and reran it which generated significant difference between measured water levels and model computed water levels in the aquifer. The author concluded that more accurate and site specific estimates of field parameters, refined model geometry, and additional numerical method improve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. International Relations Essay The first paradigm of international relations is the theory of Realism. Realism is focused on ideas of self interest and the balance of power. Realism is also divided into two categories, classical realism and neo realism. Famous political theorist, Hans Morgenthau was a classical realist who believed that national interest was based on three elements, balance of power, military force, and self interest (Kleinberg 2010, 32). He uses four levels of analysis to evaluate the power of a state. The first is that power and influence are not always the same thing. Influence means the ability to affect the decision of those who have the power to control outcomes and power is the ability to determine outcomes. An example of influence and power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The power of a state is always contextual and relative. The final level of analysis Morgenthau considers to be important is whether or not the power is legitimate and moral or if it is illegitimate and immoral. Legitimate and moral power carries considerable weight in the international community. However, if the power of a state is derived from illegitimate sources such as a dictatorship the international community will be less responsive to that state, weakening its power. Weak or small states may enter into alliances with stronger states to increase their power and influence within the international community (Kleinberg 2010, 33 34). Morgenthau also believed that the charisma and personality of a leader was very important when reviewing the balance of power and understanding a state s self interest (Kleinberg 2010, 32). Realism focuses on the balance of power and how it impacts of actions of state actors within the international political system. Morgenthau said that, The aspirations for power on the part of several nations, each trying to either maintain or overthrow the status quo, leads of necessity to a configuration that is called the balance of power and to policies that aim at preserving it (Morgenthau 1967,131). He goes on by explain that not only is the balance of power and the policies that protect it inevitable but also that they are essential for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Pros And Cons Of Embryonic Stem Cells Should Embryonic Stem Cells Be Used To Cure Diseases? Alan C Embryonic stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are able to differentiate into any type of cell in the body, and they are obtained from four or five day old embryos that are in the blastocyst stage of human development. For example, an embryonic stem cell could turn into brain, skin, muscle, and bone cells. Stem cells have the potential to cure a plethora of diseases, but they come at a cost. It is commonly practiced by Muslims in Africa and various parts of the Middle East. According to Loretta Kopelman, there are over 80 million women who have had some variation of this procedure. Female circumcision is categorized into three types; Type one is the complete or partial removal of the clitoris, type two removes the clitoris completely as well as some of the labia minora, and type three is known as Infibulation, the sewing shut of the vulva leaving only a hole big enough for urine and menstrual blood to pass, after ... Also, a male is circumcised shortly after birth, whereas females experience this procedure at much later ages such as seven or eight. In 2012, the U.N. passed a resolution that condemns female genital mutilation, or circumcision, as harmful to women and girls (Kolodny). This article argues that female genital mutilation should be a crime, not a cultural practice, but even if there was some way to make this practice illegal, how would it ever be enforced in the lawless countries that it is commonly practiced. Cultural relativism is a concept that the norms, values, morals, and beliefs of a particular culture cannot be judged as right or wrong, moral or not moral, by a culture that may not share the same beliefs as the other culture. In the case of the article, Female Genital Mutilation: Crime or Culture, because of cultural relativism, the practice of circumcising a female is not a crime, but a cultural practice that upholds the traditions of that culture. The concept of cultural relativism also keeps the practice of this genital mutilation from being judged by other societies, such as the views that the people in the United States have against a procedure like this. People who want to continue these practices resent cross cultural criticisms, seeing them as assaults on their social traditions and identity (Kopelman, 221). In cultures ... Application Of Delone Mclean s Information System ABSTRACT The study was conducted to validate the application of DeLone McLean s Information System (IS) success model (2003) in a local setup in Kenya and to evaluate the success of a enterprise resource planning (ERP) system from a user perspective. It was carried out at Coffee Research Foundation (CRF) in Kenya. A number of past studies to measure the success of information systems in different settings were reviewed leading to the choice and use of the updated DeLone McLean IS success model in this study. The research involved the use of questionnaires as well as interviews and focus group discussion (FGD). A number of hypotheses were tested and the results indicated that the updated DeLone McLean s IS success model was valid as a useful model for this particular study. The study also indicated that the variables system quality, information quality, and service quality stood out as critical determinants of how information and communication technology systems can be used to improve organizational performance. Keywords: ERP system, DeLone McLean IS Success Model, System Quality, Information Quality, Service Quality, Use, User Satisfaction, Net Benefits 1.0. This main hypothesis was confirmed in Part 1 of testing and was thus expanded in Part II and III, in which they eliminated alternative hypothesis. 2. Explain why this new ROI technique is important for fMRI research. Imaging studies in the past have reported that the region of the fusiform gyrus is more active during face recognition than object viewing, during face matching than location matching and during viewing normal faces other than scrambled faces or textures. This research was a great beginning, but it does not establish that this FFA is specifically involved in face recognition, as there is a range of alternative interpretations of what can activate our brains. These alternative interpretations include low level feature extraction, visual attention that is greater in faces and recognition of basic items and recognition of human objects. To test the first hypothesis the researcher ran an initial test to determine that the Region of Interest was the fusiform gyrus. Following this he then measured the activity in this specific region to subjects using four comparison tasks. Each of these tasks tested the alternative accounts that were previously listed. Part III tested one of these alternative accounts for faces compared with another human object e.g hands. • 17. Role Of Women In Beowulf And Lanval Women have had many different roles in the history of European literature but have generally been restricted to the roles assigned to them in a largely patriarchal society. As a result of this society, these roles have often been powerless ones. This calls into question the constitution of a powerful woman in literature: in Beowulf, being a powerful woman means becoming the bond between families and alliances; in Lanval, power comes from assertion and control a powerful woman is a woman in charge. The primary difference between the representation of women in Beowulf and Lanval is that the latter transcends overarching patriarchal boundaries, and the former does not; the reason for their respective representations lies in the literary time periods in which the stories were written. From this, one can see that the introduction of romance as a central theme gave way to new representations and roles of women in predominantly heteropatriarchal English literature and gives new meaning to the analysis of stories like these. Beowulf is an Old English epic poem that tells a story of a Geat hero named Beowulf who comes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of the Danes, and agrees to help his people defeat the monstrous Grendel. After successfully ridding the land of the beast, Beowulf eventually becomes the king of the Geats for quite some time until his own demise at the hands of another beast. While those films do showcase the sense of auteurship from Kubrick, his earlier works are more conventional when compared to the 1950s style of filmmaking. The Killing is a 1956 noir film and Kubrick s third feature film, and was produced by United Artists with a $200,000 investment and $320,000 budget from James B. Harris. This was also the first collaboration of producer James B. Harris and Kubrick, and would later on produce two more films. Unlike famous noir films like Double Indemnity, The Killing did not become instantly successful, but it became more noteworthy in the retrospect as Kubrick became an established filmmaker in his later films. Like almost every Kubrick film, The Killing was based on another material, and in this case, a 1955 low budget novel titled Clean Break by crime novelist Lionel White. The movie was adapted by hardboiled author Jim Thompson, in which Kubrick was also credited, and when compared to the book, Thompson did expand the roles of the characters and motivations. The movie does retain the non linear structure of the book, and it also adds voiceover to explain the time change. Between the two, the film did become more popular than the book, especially when the book s title is often changed to The Killing in retrospect. • 19. Cost Proposed By Mangalore And Knapp In the standpoint of economic consequences, costs incurred by schizophrenia are all tunnelled down to society and public sector. Cost proposed by Mangalore and Knapp (2007) was £6.7billion in 2004/05 where society and public bear 4.7million and 2million respectively. With respect to this, follow up estimation in 2010 from LSE showed a rough 3 fold increase with £11.8 billion of societal cost and £7.2 billion on public sector. This study might have a more realistic outlook with additional inclusion of tax forgone as taxation has major role in country s economy and funding of public sectors such as NHS in England. Both studies showed that the key driver costs are inpatient hospitalisation and unemployment. Practically, direct and tangible costs incurred by schizophrenia would be from health services, social care, unemployment, tax forgone, premature mortality, unpaid care, institutional costs, private expenditures, criminal justice services and other public expenditures such as social security payment and security system. All these are shouldered by the society and public sector. Health services mainly comprise of hospitalisation, medication, psychiatric services; costs in social care mainly involve nursing and institutionalisation whereas social security payments would be payment of income support, invalidity benefit and disability allowances. • 20. I M Black Who s Innocent Analysis In 2015 racial conflicts and struggle for power still occur, even though slavery ended in 1863 and segregation ended around 1950 s and 1960 s. In Shelby Steele s I m Black, You re White, Who s Innocent, both writers emphasize the key issues of races accusing one another and fighting for innocence and power. While Ellis at first blames the blacks for his financial problems and for his inferiority, he later forms a union with them. Steele experiences an awkward conversation about race with the whites and observes the game of innocence being played between them. Both authors clearly point out that blacks and whites fail to understand each other because of the desire for power. Terkel and Steele s essays portray the idea of races blaming one another for their problems. In Studs Terkel s oral history, Ellis is born financially unstable. Although his father works hard to support the family, he doesn t even have enough to buy adequate clothes for Ellis. Thus, Ellis always leaves school in the late afternoon because he feels inferior and embarrassed by the clothes he wears. As he continues to have a hard life, he begins to grow bitter. He states, I began to blame it on black people. I had to hate somebody. He didn t want to blame it on his father or America, so he blames ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To counter attack, the whites stay silent to protect their innocence by looking at him as a troublemaker who wrongly accuses them. As one can see, innocence can be used to cause guilt, which leads to power. The less a race is blamed, the more powerful the race is. As Steele once said, Innocence is ... There are many ways to read the novel Alice in Wonderland , it holds not one point of view, but many which can be interpreted in several ways. Analyzed from the critical viewpoint of physiological, readers may discover some interesting and remarkable surprises. The specific point I would like to discuss today are the physiological disorders this novel holds, such as the lunatic Red Queen who was wrapped whole with narcissistic behaviors and personality disorders, the unimaginable feeling of loneliness portrayed throughout Alice s adventure, and a dream anxiety disorder/psychosis or schizophrenia which represented itself as the actual story, viewed through the main character Alice. To begin with, there are many characters in Alice in Wonderland, who, despite the normality in their world, are rather odd; all whom which held a distinctive characteristic that revolved around all their actions, words, and surroundings. With no term limits set for the federal legislative positions in the United States, is this representation becoming redundant? Term limits can potentially be crucial in political reform of the United States that would bring new perspectives to federal legislative positions, warrant regular federal legislative turnover, and reduce incentives for wasteful election related federal spending. The amendment also provided that any person who has served two or more terms as a member of the United States Senate from Arkansas would be ineligible for re election as a United States Senator from Arkansas. In comparison to this fact, it is also estimated that 14.6 percent of US households are labeled food insecure (Bartfield et al). It is deeply concerning that a large portion of the US population faces hunger on a daily basis while so much food is being wasted just at the consumer and retail levels. Furthermore, this wasted food does not account for the food that never even sees the market due to over production food deemed unfit for the market, spillage, etc. This means there is even more food wasted that could provide for the hungry. Food waste, meaning any food product produced and not consumed, occurs at three main levels: production, retail, and consumer. Losses in production occur when food is discarded before arriving at its destination after leaving the farm. Losses in retail occur when food is discarded before being sold to restaurants or individuals. Finally, consumer losses occur when any food is discarded after the retail level. Various reasons for discarding food on any level include but are not limited to spoilage, aesthetics (e.g. bruising, coloring, size, shape), overproduction or over purchasing, and damaged packaging. The left hemisphere is responsible for perceiving information more logically and analytically, it is the side that processes things math, science, and writing. Whilst the right hemisphere of the brain is responsible for more imaginative creative thinking, the importance of developing both segments of the brain is not something that should be overlooked. • 42. Mao Zedong Analysis In order for a revolution to occur, it is essential to have a leader the revolutionaries can unite under; a leader as persistent as Mao Zedong. Mao s birth into the peasant class taught him about the rigid social structures of China at a young age, as he recognized the strife peasants endured on a daily basis. He knew how they thought and emphasized with their thirst for equity in China s rigid social society (Calkins). As Mao grew older, his recognition of the oppressed class allowed him to develop an affinity towards the principles of Marxism Leninism, which were utilized in restoring China to its original greatness (Zedong qtd in Lynch 4). Mao believed that the peasants fury and desperation was powerful enough to spark a communist revolution, leading to equality and justice in China (Lynch 3). The peasants who were mistreated for so long rose to the occasion of Mao s advocating for their rights. His popularity and influence among the masses of China was increased. Mao rose to power by 1949 through increased peasantry support, giving him the authorization to change China into a communist country. Prior to the Second Chinese Civil War, Mao gained the loyalty of the oppressed class through presenting his ideology in a flattering fashion. Mao allowed his followers to know he recognized their strife, and taught them the importance of confidence and violence in a revolution. He brainwashed them with promises for a New China so they d believe he himself was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Arguments Against Interracial Adoption Interracial adoption has long been a contentious issue even among devoted adoption supporters. Parents who chose to take these children help them escape life in foster care. Adoption is a permanent obligation that impact the whole family, especially your adoptive child. It is important to look past the lovable faces and think through the ups and downs of interracial adoption. Before the 1940 s it was not acceptable for white parents to adopt a child of a different culture? During this time, efforts were made to place children with adoptive families with the same skin color and religion. Then in 1944 the Boys and Girl Aid Society noticed a growing number of minority children waiting for adoption. This group focused on the children of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supporters of interracial adoption have argued that interracial empowers the community at large just by their presence. They build consciousness of how people of different races can mix and relate positively to each other. In addition, studies have shown that children s self esteem, adjustment, and the capacity to form bonds were not adversely affected by their adoption. Still, parents should be aware that children of a racial minority group develop their sense of ethnic identity differently. Parents need to make sure their children are showing proper and positive environments. Last but not least, racism is a problem adoptive parents cannot avoid. However, they should openly discuss that there will be people that dislike them simply because of the color of their skin. Parents will not be able to protect their child at all times, but steps can be taken to protect the child. For instance, stopping Uncle Joe from coming to Thanksgiving because you know that he makes off colored jokes that will hurt you and your child. When you mention body art to someone they look at you like you are an alien or they just ignore the fact of you mentioning tattoos. These situations are rather common from what I can see. Two men were talking behind where I was sitting, taking notes, minding my own business. I happen to have ears that love to be curious so I didn t control what I heard and what I didn t. The conversation was around two adults about one of their teenager, don t ask me if it was a teenage boy or girl, I have no clue! One the man was very frustrated almost looked worried while the other was confident, seemed more relaxed than the other! The calm guy mentioned body arts while the other was staring at him in an odd way. I looked at them both wondering who had tattoos and who didn t... Surprise, surprise, the one that said body arts had two sleeves while the other didn t have any visible ones. The Holocaust had further pushed Zionists agenda to take Palestine due to their historical and religious background within the land. Thus, a significant amount of Jews from Europe and America called for a separate Jewish state. During this time, Britain had a mandate over Palestine and were authorized to rule the land. A specific example was the Epistle of Paul to Philemon, in which Paul addressed Philemon on how he should treat his runaway slave, Onesimus, who had converted to Christianity. An anonymous author, published in De Bow s Review, which was one of the most important antebellum journals in the South, and Hopkins argued Paul s message was not one of abolition, but of perpetual servitude. This was not something Paul would have done, if enslavement was sinful, declared De Bow s Review, Now, had holding slaves been a crime, Paul s duty to Philemon would have required him to instruct Philemon, that he had no rights over Onesimus, but that attempt to hold him in servitude, was criminal[.] Moreover, as an Apostle of Christ, Paul had an obligation to instruct Christians according to His commands, as they pertained to human bondage, believed Hopkins. Therefore, he questioned, Why does [Paul] not write to his disciple, Philemon, and rebuke him for the awful sin of holding a fellow man in bondage, and charge it upon him, as a solemn duty, to emancipate his slaves, at the peril of his soul? Hopkins succinctly offered an answer to this question, surmising, St. Paul was inspired, and knew the will of the Lord Jesus Christ, and was only intent on obeying it.
