A hospital s emergency room (ER) is typically the site for initial presentation of patients from a
disaster or bioterrorism event. Consequently, nurses working in the ER setting are the first to treat
these patients. Thus it is of great importance to have a plan in place that can effectively meet the
unique needs of this type of situation. As a nurse employed in the ER at Good Samaritan Hospital
(GSH) in Vincennes, Indiana, I will be one of the first to see patients from a disaster. As a result,

The fall of the Soviet Union is very complex, and was caused by many reasons and flaws. The
collapse occurred around the end of the Cold War, the Soviet Union broke up into fifteen different
nations, the whole world watched, and one of the reasons it fell was the economy was failing to
meet the standards because of the Cold War and World War 2. They also claimed that the United

A Metaphor from FreudвЂ™s Psychosexual Stages
There are many aspects of life that are confusing and difficult to understand. In a human being s
life, a metaphor can bring a topic or idea into a new light and make it more understandable. In this
particular article, the author is using Sigmund Freud s theory of psychosexual stages as a metaphor
for a counselor s development with their clients. The five psychosexual stages are first outlined
from the generic standpoint of Freud s theories. The article then continues to directly compare each
stage with the counseling process and exactly how the two processes are similar. Alongside the
comparison, the rest of the article outlines how a counselor should interact with their client. An
overview of the psychosexual stages is critical to understand the connection between the stages and
counseling (Garcia, 1995).
The five psychosexual stages in Freud s order are the oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital stages.
Beginning with the oral stage, Freud s theory describes the sexual development of an infant. This
development is constructed with assistance from the infant s mouth, hence the oral stage . An
infant will place objects in their mouth to identify what it is. From this point, the infant will then
rationalize if the object is acceptable and desirable or if it is undesirable. If the object is
pleasurable, the infant will keep it in its mouth or eat it, if the object is edible. An infant will spit

I Am Waiting For The Concert
Sunday, May 29th 2016, 2:55PM: I am waiting for the concert to begin as I watch the musicians
walk onto the stage one by one, rehearsing a few notes on their instrument to warm up a bit and
probably test the pitch of the instrument. As more and more get up on the stage, the sound of them
rehearsing feel more and more chaotic, confusing and hard to follow, reminding me of Stravinski s
work. All of the sudden, they stop and start playing harmoniously a few notes thus inviting the
conductor on the stage the concert was about to start.
Before the main performance, there were two shorter pieces, Ibert s Bacchanale and Dusapin s
Outscape. In retrospec,t both were wonderful choices as a prelude to Holst s The Planets as I felt the
three pieces fit well together when put back to back and they even inspired to me an overarching
message.
Jacques Ibert s Bacchanale was composed in 1956, only 6 years before it s author s death.
Unlike his previous compositions which were marked by the tension and turmoil of the interwar
period and World War 2, Bacchanale is the culmination of his rather wild and hard to pigeonhole
style. The title evokes the Roman festival bearing the same name, a tribute to the wine god
Bacchus. Bacchanalia were notorious for the excessive drinking, dancing and performing for as
long as the participants could remain standing and they were living proof of the carefree lifestyle
Romans could afford to have.

During the sixties, American people saw the rise of the counterculture. Counterculture was a group
of movements focused on achieving personal and cultural liberation, mainly embraced by the
decade s young adults. Because many Americans were members of the different movements in the
counterculture, the counterculture influenced American society as a whole. As a result of the
achievements the counterculture movements had made, the United Statesin the 1960sbecame a
more open, more tolerant, and a more freer country. In 1969, close to half a million self
described hippies,peace makers, and Aquarians made an expedition from mainly San Francisco to
Woodstock in upstate New York. The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival was called an Aquarian
Exposition and hailed as three days of peace and music, over 400,000 people attended; it was
peaceful. However, life outside of the woodstock festivalwas not. America seemed to be dividing
as a country. The war in Vietnam went on for roughly another 15 years. American boys were still
being sent to Southeast Asia by the newly elected President, Nixon. The increasingly unpopular
war intensified a campus protest movement. Burning draft cards and peace marches became daily
fare on the evening news. And not all of the demonstrations were peaceful. The summer after
Martin Luther King was assassinated, riots broke out in 125 cities including, Chicago, Baltimore,
NYC, Kansas City, and Cincinnati. Meanwhile, at the Democratic convention in Chicago, the anti
war movement tore the Democratic Party in two. Both critics and fans agree that Woodstock has
become part of the mythology of the 1960s, even if the actual event didn t necessarily represent
the musical or political taste of most of the young Americans adults at this time. Some say it
symbolized the freedom and idealism of the 1960s. Some argue that Woodstock represented much
of everything that was wrong with the sixties: a glorification of drugs, a loosening of sexual
morality and a socially corrosive disrespect for authority.

She was a deeply religious woman with high morals, but she could not withstand the charms of
Valmont. He shamed her using her morals so she would feel obligated to love him. Valmont
decided to give up love forever since she would not love him back, and Tourvel felt she had to
save him from a lifetime of unhappiness (Les Liaisons Dangereuses 273). Tourvel did not give
in to Valmont due to pleasure; she felt she was sacrificing her happiness for his. When Valmont
is convinced by Merteuil to end their affair, Tourvel ran away to a convent (Les Liaisons
Dangereuses 317). She not only lost her chastity with Valmont, but she also lost her faith. Tourvel
had committed wholeheartedly to loving and saving Valmont, and he basically threw her to the
side. The letter that Valmont sent her written by Merteuil stated repeatedly that it was not his
fault (Les Liaisons Dangereuses 315). She felt there was no other way to repent for her adultery
other than to die. She believed that she was doing God s work by converting Valmont, but, when
he left her, she lost the faith that what she was doing was God s work. She said many times that
she should have trusted her friends and stayed true to her husband, but she was blinded by the need
to help Valmont. Even though her punishment was self inflicted, she was still punished. Since her
fall was much greater, the author made her punishment more severe. As many doctors could tell,
there was no physical virus plaguing her. The only thing wrong with Tourvel was her want to
punish herself with pain, suffering, and death. Until the bitter end, Tourvel wanted to still save
Valmont. When she learns of his death, she prays for God to punish her and spare him (Les
Liaisons Dangereuses 353). Tourvel s death seems like an extreme punishment for succumbing to
Valmont. However, it was the only punishment fit for a woman of the time period who betrayed

oppressive government. All of these southern states were justified as they felt that they were not
