Team Tack Shoppe Analysis
I would like to become a part of Team Tack Shoppe because I want to be able to represent a
successful small business. Being a Team Tack Shop ambassador would be an excellent way for
me to be able to connect with more positive, motivated equestrians. I started riding at the age of
eight, when my dad took me to the barn in our neighborhood. I had initially just went to pet the
horses, but I ended getting to ride; and that is where it all started. Soon after I started taking lessons
at a local barn. Four years later I purchased my first pony, Trigger, from my trainer. I worked so
hard for the money to buy Trigger, and I was so proud of him. Sadly I was only able to keep
Trigger for about a year before I had to sell him back to my trainer. I still continued with lessons
and rode when I could, but I didn t get to purchase my next horseuntil I was twenty. I purchased
Talia in January 2015 and trained her myself. I plan on making her into my competitive jumper and
showing her as much as I possibly can.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that true equestrians are a special kind of people, they look out for each other and really
want the best for each other. As I look back on the many people that have helped and guided me
over the years, I too want to do that for the equestrians in my life now. I strive to be a positive,
motivated rider who is always there to help. I think having the privilege of caring for my own
horses has taught me a lot about responsibility. Riding has changed my life in the way that it has
(in a good way!) become my whole life. Of course I make time for family, but they all know that I
am passionate about not only riding, but horses in general. I really appreciate all that horses have
taught me overall; patience, communication, hard work, responsibility, and many

The Design And Analysis Of Computer Experiments
Introduction
According to the case study, the design and analysis of computer experiments (DACE) were
applied as a tool to identify the risks associated with laser welding in an electronic welding
process for developing the substrate product development effort. This process, DACE, used the
computer simulations to easily predict the stresses and warp of the sample with varying factor
levels. The main advantage here is instead of making eight different samples, the whole work was
finishing with a computer, and it saves a lot of time and money.
In general, the DFSS project having two steps such as first to identifying critical parameters (Y s)
that are strongly associated with success of the project, as well as to identify the controllable ...

So, the team uses only 25 2 fractional factorial designs through computer simulations.
However, the team uses finite element analysis software along with DOE to predict two
responses from each run such as the stress and the deformation. In the case study, we observe the
images that show the stress and deformation due to a temperature change. The high stress and
deformation areas are shown by the red color. The low stress and deformation areas are indicated
by the dark blue color. At last the deformation of a single layer was imported into MATLAB (a
matrix computing environment) to calculate the radius of curvature or warp.
The immediate step in this sequential experimentation was enhancing the factorial experiment with
a center point and star points i.e. a central composite design (CCD), fully explores the extremes
of the factor levels. It goes beyond the +1/ 1 levels to get a better understanding of the effects the
factors on the results. The CCD consisted of a center point and six star points. The star points
represent the +/ 2 alpha levels of the factors. Here the dots are connected to one another through
the center; the resulting shape is a star. There are six dots because there are two extreme cases for
each important factor. This analysis helps to provide a better understanding of the effects on results

How To Solve The Objective Problem
Since there are only two variables , we can solve this problem using the Graphical Method by
graphing the set of points in the plane that satisfies the constraint set and then finding which point
of this set maximizes the value of the objective function . Each inequality constraint is satisfied by
a half plane of points, and the constraint set is the intersection of all the half planes. In the present
example, the constraint set is the five sided figure shaded in Figure 1.(2) We want to determine the
point гЂ–( xгЂ—_(1 ),x_в–€(2@)) that maximizes the objective function . The function г
Ђ–
xгЂ—_(1 )+ x_в–€(2 @)is constant over any line with slope = 1 and as we move this line further
up and to right from the origin the value of the function... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The linear programming problem is feasible if the constraints set is not empty , otherwise it is
infeasible . The linear programming problem is said to be unbounded when the objective function
is infinite , so it has a solution that can be made infinitely large without violating any of its
constraints . All Linear Programming Problems Can be Converted to Standard Form All problems
defined as maximizing or minimizing a linear function subjected to a linear constraints can be
converted into the form of a standard maximum problem by the following techniques : (1) A
minimum problem can be converted to standard maximum by multiplying the objective function by

Banking Proposal
Intro Thesis
In our society people interact with the banking industry everyday. As of 2014 the industry had
revenues of $426 billion (IBIS, 2014). Monetary policy effects how citizens and corporations
approach the economy. Banks have the ability to influence monetary decision making of each
individual causing change in the state of the economy. Following is a discussion of how banks
affect behavior of people in the economy.
Role in the Market
Banks play a huge role in the market. Their monetary policies can increase or decrease the amount
of spending in the economy. The Federal Reserve Bank, the United States central bank, has the most
power of all banks. It is considered to be the bank s bank. It was established by an act of congress in
1913, which created the Federal Reserve System. This system regulates the banks in the economy.
Since the Fed has so much control its policies directly influence all banks. This is typically steered
by the interest rates.
What Causes Interest Rates to Fluctuate? As stated before interest rates are influenced by many
different factors, bank rates in general, follow policy changes, bank rates also change in response to
market conditions, independently of changes in the official target rates (Lim, 2013). For example
the financial crisis in 2008, caused by the housing market, resulted in tight credit conditions and
high interest rates.

Philosophy And Science Of The Same Breath
The philosophers Leucippus and Democritus are constantly mentioned in the same breath. Since
the bulk of their works did not survive the middle ages, we have only fragments and the writings of
their peers and successors to tell us about their accomplishments and ideas. It is difficult to separate
these two men because they are praised or critiqued as a unit by contemporaries and followers, but
their exact relationship is unclear. Sources such as Diogenes Laertius do not link them as teacher
and student, but rather as acquaintances. However, in Metaphysics, Aristotle refers to Democritusas
Leucippusdisciple , equating the two philosophers ideas of full and void (the idea of atoms and the
space in which they move). But whatever their relationship, their legacy of atomismis an important
one, and it has influenced philosophy and science down to the present day.
There is comprehensive access to primary sources on these philosophers and their ideas through
both the Perseus Digital Library and the Online Loeb Classical Library. The countless references to
Democritus in Aristotle s work are available both in original language and translation, as well as
passing references to Leucippus, Democritus, and their philosophy from authors such as Sextus,
Diogenes Laertius and others. Although these primary sources are mostly fragmented quotes or
philosophical rebuttals to Democritus and Leucippus works, they provide much needed information
on early atomist thought. The

Spastic Cerebral Palsy
Spastic cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that unfolds in the developing brain either right
before birth or shortly after, typically before the child turns one year of age. Head injuries that
occur several weeks after birth may also cause spastic cerebral palsy. Spastic cerebral palsy makes
up roughly eighty percent of all cerebral palsycases, since there are other types; spastic is
considered to be the most common. Spastic cerebral palsy causes neuromuscular mobility
impairment meaning that there is a lack in connection between the nerves and muscles. The two
parts of the brain affected by spastic cerebral palsy are the cerebral motor cortex and the white
matter. The cerebral motor cortex is responsible for movement, hearing, speech, thinking, visual
processing etc. Therefore if the cerebral motor cortex is damaged then all those previously listed
may be affected. White matter is responsible for transmitting signals to the body, consequently if it
is damaged, nervesignals are interrupted. (Common Parts of the Brain Affected by Cerebral Palsy.)
Spastic cerebral palsy carries many symptoms which include musclespasticity/stiffness, joint
contracture, paralysis, seizures, dysarthria, difficulty eating/swallowing, drooling, irregular
breathing (respiratory problems), unsteady gait, learning disabilities, hearing/eyesight problems,
slower growth than average, scoliosis, bowel problems, or urinary incontinence. (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention.) Spastic

Underage Drinking Essay example
Underage Drinking
In the article Why the Drinking Age should be Lowered, Ruth Engs believes that the drinking age
should be lowered to about 18 or 19. Engs is a Professor at Indiana University in the Health and
Sciences department. In this article Engs makes a valid point in that responsible drinking could be
taught through role modeling and educational programs. Engs also states facts about the different
drinking ages in other countries, and that the United States has the highest legal purchasing age for
alcoholic beverages in the world.
According to Engs s research all of the irresponsible behaviors involving drinking such as: fighting,
drinking and driving, students missing class because of hangovers, or vomiting after ... Show more

In these cultures young people learn from their parents about drinking and the responsibility that
comes with it. Engs suggests that we need to change the current prohibition law and teach
responsible drinking techniques for people that choose to consume alcohol. Engs states facts,
suggests alternative solutions, and relates the past from the present; this is why her article is
believable.
Engs does have many valid points in this article; however the drinking age probably won t change
any time soon. The problem with drinking and driving would greatly increase, if the prohibition
were to change the law of purchasing or consuming alcohol. Society would break out in madness
and there would probably be many riots, and reports of violent behavior would increase. I believe
that Engs has a fantastic argument; however the government probably won t change their drinking
laws in the near future.
Engs obviously has a great experience with this topic because she is a professor at Indiana
University in the Health and Science department. However, I am not sure why she is trying to
argue for the drinking age to be lowered because she is obviously over the age of 21. She has
many strong points and can tell she has done a serious amount of research on this topic. Engs does
give many examples about how college students drink responsibly.

The Popularity Of Tea During The Tang And Song Eras Of China
On the topic of world beverages, there is none such as ubiquitous as tea. Within history, tea has
played a large role in many monumental world events, from the American Revolution to the Opium
Wars. Though the origin of this bitter, fragrant juice is uncertain, it is known that tea cultivation is
rooted in China. Though teahad been known and consumed prior, it was not until the Tang dynasty
that a level of artistry surrounded tea was achieved. By the Tang dynasty and up through the Song,
tea had developed a rather contradictory identity. To tea purists such as Lu Yu, tea was an almost
spiritual art, closely related to the ideals of Buddhism, to be savored individually in a quest for
enlightenment. To many others, tea was a commercial and social drink, the facilitator of social
gatherings and a luxury indicator of social rank. This paper will explore the development of these
contrasting identities through the unprecedented expansion of the popularity of tea during the Tang
and Song eras of China, and its relationship with poetry, religion, and social conventions.
Moderation is the very essence of tea. Tea does not lend itself to extravagance. Thus is said about
tea by Lu Yu, the Tang dynasty author of the groundbreaking work ambitiously titled The Classic of
Tea. One cannot understand the mindset surrounding tea during the Tang dynasty without
knowledge of this monumental work. Lu Yu s role in spreading tea culture throughout the Tang
dynasty was vast to the extent that

Questions On Private Practice
Dilemma:
In the season 2 premier of Private Practice, we are introduced to a couple that have a sick son who
was dying of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. They had a partial match donor to help save the son
life but unfortunately the partial match donor was found to have pneumonia. Because the doctors
thought the son had a donor they started to prepare him for the transplant by stripping his immune
system and unless he received the transplant within a week he would die. The parents had already
become pregnant with a genetic match to their son, so that they could use the baby s umbilical cord
blood in the future. The wife was 27 weeks pregnant when she and her husband request that Doctor
Addison induce her delivery to preform a C section this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If doctor Addison does this she can control how the C section will work and she can have different
teams ready, one team to help with the umbilical cord transplant for the son, another team ready to
care for the premature baby, and one team to help the mother and finish the C section. This would
allow for the son to receive the transplant, saving his life. But the premature baby must be
carefully cared since the chance of dying is high, she would need to be monitored and forced to
stay in the hospital for quite some time till fully development or approval from doctors.
Perspective number 2:
Another perspective for this case is that Doctor Addison does not preform the C section. The sick
son would be placed back on the transplant list with the hope that they could find another donor
before the son dies. But most likely the son would die since he only had a week left to live.
Although, this wouldn t place the unborn baby at risk for complications due to being born
premature. The women was 6 months pregnant and the doctors were not concern of any risk, only
increasing the likeness of the couple having a healthy baby being born.
Perspective number 3:
Another possible perspective is for the mother carrying the baby to endure her own delivery such
as by breaking her own water. This puts the mother at risk because she has to induce her own
delivery without the knowledge of the proper way to

Outsourcing American Jobs Essay
Introduction Outsourcing of American jobs overseas is displacing American s in the United
States. American blue collar workers and the Middle Class American will soon be a word of the
past if the US government continues outsourcing the low skill jobs overseas.
One of the concerns in regards to the outsourcing of jobs is that wages of American jobs versus the
wages of the Chinese, Japanese, Indians and Philippians are much less. If these workers were
using the same identical technology and having the same identical skills were paid the same
wages, there would be no problem. (Greene, 2006) It s also believed that if the US continues to
trade freely with the overseas countries then the powerful drag of their far lower wages will ... Show

It is a concept that has evolved from a manufacturing perspective to a strategic perspective, which
views the concept as a way for organizations to focus and be more competitive. The basic premise
of outsourcing is that a specialist organization can perform a particular service more efficiently
than can internal operations because a specialist organization has an inherent advantage in
producing and delivering a service. Superior technology, management skills, or economies of
scale may contribute to this perception. The type of sourcing relationship depends on whether a
long term or short term need exists. To save funds used for benefits for regular employees,
temporary workers are hired. In this case, the organization (outsourcer) provides all necessary
resources except the workers, who are provided by the vendor. For long term services, the vendor
has full responsibility for delivering the service; the outsourcer provides only a liaison.
The Negative As with so many global trends, there is significant disagreement over the implications
of global competition in services for American prosperity and competitiveness. Many people are
pessimistic about the impact of offshore outsourcing at a time when American workers are having
more difficulty finding employment, since it creates personal hardships, reduces the tax base and
increases demands on our safety nets. Competitors from lower wage nations, it is feared, could put

Here, a router builds a table (called routing table) as how a packet should be forwarded through
which interface, by using either statically configured statements (called static routes) or by
exchanging information with other routers in the network through a dynamical routing protocol,
Control plane maintains contents of the label switching table (label forwarding information base, or

Data plane has a simple forwarding engine. It is a very simple mechanism. It does not involve any

MPLS works by prefixing packets with an MPLS header, containing one or more labels . This is
called a label stack. Each label stack entry contains four fields: в—Џ A 20 bit label value. в—Џ A 3
bit Traffic Class field for QoS (quality of service) priority (experimental) and ECN (Explicit
Congestion Notification). в—Џ A 1 bit bottom of stack flag. If this is set, it signifies that the
current label is the last in the stack. в—Џ An 8 bit TTL (time to live) field. These MPLS labeled
packets are switched after a label lookup/switch instead of a lookup into the IP table. As mentioned
above, when MPLS was conceived, label lookup and label

Comparing Cuckoo And Can T Help Falling In Love
The two songs that I will be analyzing have many differences that I have come across while
analyzing. The first song is an Austrian folk song called Cuckoo . You can tell this is a folk
song from the vivid story telling in the lyrics that lead to a yodel. The second song is an
American pop song called Can t Help Falling in Love which was written by George David Weiss,
Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore and made most famous by Elvis Presley for the album/soundtrack
Blue Hawaii in 1961. The main similarity between these two songs is that they have certain
rhythms that get repeated multiple times. The two songs have different time signatures. Cuckoo
has a compound meter with short and quick notes whereas Can t Help Falling in Love has a simple
meter with more long notes. The folk songhas a narrow melodic range that stays in a single octave
from D4 to D5 and is diatonic. There is no clear climax to this song and has more of a disjunct
motion by having at least one leap in every other measure. The melodic contour of this song is
pretty repetitive for the most part. Each measure is in an arch motion which would make every
phrase more like a wave. The song also does not shy away from repetition. Almost every measure is
either repeated or has a variation of it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the chorus is used again. Most measures in the song are either ascending or descending. The

Essay on Low Healthy Life Expectancy
What are the main factors contributing to low healthy life expectancy in the developed world?
Investigate possible solutions to these problems.
Low healthy life expectancy is the imprecise number of years an individual or group of persons in
a country is expected to live, staying healthy and free from disabilities. The World Health
Organisation (WHO) defines healthy life expectancy as the average number of years that a person
is expected to live in full health, subtracting full health due to diseases and injury . Low healthy
life expectancy in the developed world is caused by several factors such as, life styles, climate, diet
and the environment. These are problems because they reduce healthy life expectancy, and to solve

Smoking does not have effect only on the person smoking but on the society at large.
Furthermore, people perception towards health has caused a main impasse. Most individuals and
countries are ostensibly careless about their health. In the developed world today, it is said that
health is about physical appearance. Kaplan (2010) states that an individual s health links to a
person s well being and poor health turns it negative . When a person is not concerned about his or
her health, it leads to low healthy life expectancy and carrying out activities becomes very difficult.
A possible solution to these problems is to raise the awareness of the government. The government
should make a way for people to have regular check up, keeping them aware of their health status.
In addition the government should formulate bye laws restricting smoking in public places.
Secondly, another factor contributing to low healthy life expectancy is the climate of a country.
Vardavas and Taylor (2007) define climate as the mean of state of the atmosphere, averaged over
several years and all season with particular emphasis on those that affect the temperature of the
earth surface in both logical and global mean sense . In most developed countries, climate has
always been a major concern. The effect of climate could have a positive or a negative effect on an
individual. Climate varies among developed countries.

There are two important purposes for Scrum team to use velocity. One purpose is that velocity can

Allowing Scrum team to accumulate the value of the PBIs completed in a single sprint is a

My Budget Variance
The baseline I have set out for my budget worked very well for me in the past month, but this
month there was a large kink in it. There were just a couple different kinds of variances I met
when adding up the totals of my real spending this month. When I was analyzing my budget, I
went through and determined if the budget variances I had were good or bad for my needs. Most
of my budget variances were positive except for one major one. What I mean by this is a good
budget variancesignified to me an outcome that was better than I expected. This one large bad
budget variance I had consisted within my doctor s expenses budget. The reason I had such a large
variance of almost one thousand one hundred dollars within my doctor s expenses is because I had
to have surgery on my shoulder, and that was the amount of the co pay. Within my budget I set an
amount for my gas, clothing, and dining out, but it varies from month to month. For... Show more

The one way my budget allowed me to pay for the unexpected outcome was because of the
variances, savings, and emergency fund I had. Although I went under the set amount in my
budget in several different categories it was not enough to cover my unexpected expense of
surgery. This resulted in having to use those separate accounts of savings and emergency funds to
compensate for the unexpected expenses rather than going into debt further. Along with this I
was unable to save ten percent of my budget this month because as I expressed above all off my
existing savings and emergency fund went towards the procedure I had to have done. This was
extremely disappointing because for as long as I can remember I have been religious about
depositing at least ten percent into my savings no matter what, but as I was analyzing my situation

Concussions On The National Football League
The National Football League, more commonly known as the NFL, has had growing cases of
retired players that suffer from mental trauma or mental diseases from concussions. A concussion
is a short loss of brain function following a direct or indirect force to the head. Concussions are
extremely difficult to diagnose because the damage is seemingly invisible to the naked eye.
Although the damages may not be present, the effects are long lasting. Concussions are plaguing
retired NFL players and affecting the former athletes long term mental health. For this reason, there
has been a lot of research suggesting that the NFL is not doing enough for it s athletes to shelter

Statistics show NFL players are paid $1.9 million a year on average. An injury as severe and time
consuming as a concussion can undoubtedly counteract this kind of pay. Professional athletes do
not want to jeopardize sitting out a game and missing their opportunity, [t]he return to play decision
is based on symptoms, and the problem is the players all want to get back yesterday and the
question is whether they are being truthful and honest during their evaluations, Stieg said
(Futterman). There is nothing doctors or trainers can do if the athlete lies about being symptom
free. They can suspect the severity of the concussion by just observing the athlete s behavioral
response toward certain things, like light or noise. As a result, early identification is extremely
beneficial to accurately examine damages to the brain because it leads to degenerative diseases.
These diseases are hard to catch if symptoms are not shown in the athlete right away. The NFL
has to adopt better protocol to diagnose concussions based on medical data instead of assessing by
judgment (Futterman). A more scientific approach is being studied that can diagnose concussions
faster and more accurately. By using a simple blood test after six hours of forceful impact, the test
can display brain cells that have broken down succeeding the impact. By exercising such a test, it
can rid the uncertainty of when it is safe to get an athlete back on the field without triggering
further cognitive damages.

Constantine And Empress Helen Their Impact On Christianity
Topic: Constantine and Empress Helena: Their Impact on Christianity
Who was Constantine?:
Constantine was believed to be born on February 22, either in 272 or 273 AD. The exact date and
year is not definite. He was the son of Marcus Flavius Valerius Constantius Herculius Augustus
(mainly known as Constantius Chlorus) and Flavia Iulia Helena Augusta (mainly known as Saint
Helena). His father was an officer of the army, and his mother was an inn keeper s daughter. His

Constantine also saw this as a sign from God. Constantine continually said that his success was
from his conversion to Christianity and the support of God. His devotion to Christianity was
closely associated with this rise to power.
What did he do for the Christian Religion?:
Constantine was credited for converting the Roman Empire to Christianity. Along with the Eastern
Roman Emperor Gaius Valerius Licinianus Licinius Augustus (better known as Licinius I) signed
the Edict of Milan, which ensured religious tolerance for Christians. The signing of the Edict of
Milan gave freedom of worship to all, and brought an end to the Age of Martyrs and ended the
persecution of Christianity. Constantine helped convene and took part in the first meetings of
Christian Churches, known as the Council of Nicea. The council of Nicea established equality of
the Father and Son. He initiated the evolution of the empire into a Christian state. He provided the
impulse for a distinctively Christian culture and prepared the way for the growing of Byzantine and
Western medieval culture.
After his victory the battle of Tiber River s Mulvian Bridge, Constantine was considered the
dominant figure in the empire. In this position Constantine ordered Maximinus II Dais to cease his
subjugation of the Christians.
Sometimes it was debated whether he was the first Christian emperor at all. The religion he did

The History of Band Aid
BRAND:
HISTORY:
The Band Aid was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson, an employee of Johnson amp; Johnson, for
his wife Josephine Dickson, who frequently cut and burned herself while cooking. The prototype
product allowed his wife to dress her wounds without assistance. Dickson, a Highland Park, New
Jersey resident at the time, passed the idea on to his employer who then went on to produce and
market the product as the Band Aid. Dickson had a successful career at Johnson amp; Johnson,
eventually becoming a Vice President at the company before his retirement in 1957.

Virender Sehwag, chosen as Band Aid s brand ambassador, symbolised the very essence of what
the product stood for: solid, gritty and with a never say die attitude under any circumstance. This
tie up kicked off a series of contests and promotions that included a special edition pack featuring
the explosive cricketer.
Over the years, the challenge for communication has been to shift from passive protection to active
healing. Band Aid needed to signal efficacy, demonstrate its medicinal side and shift its discourse
without losing its core values. Kids have the innate desire to be active and Band Aid makes sure
that cuts and bruises will not hinder that desire
The Band Aid Goldfish campaign, launched in 2000, was a real clutter breaking advertisement,
which elevated the awareness of wash proof to new heights. Since early 2003, the brand, with its
new campaign of Continuous Care , has tried to reposition itself among the target audience. The
simple theme is that unlike antiseptic liquids and creams, which wear off after the initial effect,
Band Aid works on the wound non stop. Therefore, the core value of the brand ceaseless
supervision is emphatically stated in the baseline Iska asar lagatar . The Kids Snapshot film is
based on this thought.

The Benefits Of Legalizing Marijuana
The legality of cannabis varies from country to country. Possession of cannabis is illegal in most
countries and has been since the beginning of widespread cannabis prohibition in the late 1930s.
However, many countries have decriminalized the possession of small quantities of cannabis,
particularly in North America, South America and Europe. Furthermore, possession is legal or
effectively legal in the Netherlands, Uruguay and in the U.S. states of Colorado and Washington as
the federal government has indicated that it will not attempt to block enactment of legalization in
those states. In December 2013, Uruguay became the first country in the world to legalize the sale,
cultivation, and distribution of cannabis. There are many different types... Show more content on

Cannabis is the third widely used drug in the United States following alcohol and tobacco even
though it is currently illegal. Because marijuana is so used so much and is illegal it plays a big
role in the War on Drugs. War on Drugs is a term commonly applied to a campaign of prohibition
of drugs, military aid, and military intervention, with the purpose being to define and reduce the
illegal drug trade in the United States (Giroux Pollock). The purpose is to set drug policies that
are intended to decrease the production, distribution, and consumption of illegal drugs. Because
marijuana is illegal the price of the final product increases to very high values because of the
black market status, which together with the powerful effects of drug addiction causes users to
commit crimes in order to fund their addiction. If weed became legal and regulated in the United
States, the price would decrease leading to the decrease in the illegal drug industry. This would
also decrease the crimes committed by both drug sellers and drug users. The government spends a
lot of money on trying to stop citizens from using marijuana while there are more important things
the government should be spending their money on such as social programs. Another pro of
marijuana is that it has no physiological addiction while other drugs that are legal such as tobacco
have a higher physiological addiction rate than cocaine. Also if marijuana becomes

High-Stakes Testing In Schools

The text discussed two major assessment approaches: formal and informal. The chapter also
focused on policy influence, implementation strategies, and the history of assessment. Other areas

A Career In My Life
Just how I came to Irvine, California, can only be traced to Divine Providence. Originally, I was
a drama major at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. I had been bitten by the
acting bug after a successful year of speech and drama at McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio.
Although my interests were diverse, I figured that a career in the entertainment field would be a
launching pad into the arena I desired most: world wide in¬fluence. My stay at Wesleyan was
riddled with disappointment. Here I was an energetic freshman drama major with loads of talent
and optimism, only to find main stage acting was unavailable until our sophomore year. The

My letter to twenty four Univer¬sity regents caused quite a stir, but was eventually dismissed
and I left in a huff. Getting into the University of California in Irvine took some doing. I fled
Wesleyan with a D grade point average. I withdrew from one class and received an F in two
other classes, but received an A in my speech class. I gave my speech final on Why I was leaving
Wesleyan. Even though I went fifteen minutes over the speech limit, (and we were warned to

my application to UCI was rejected that summer on the basis of poor grades, I used my usual
rhetoric to get my foot in the door. Then came the million dollar question: Where are you going

words, I looked him in the eyes and questioned how an educational in stitution could deny any
red blooded American student an opportunity for higher learning on a technicality like lack of

Terrace Housing In The 19th Century
Terrace housing is an expression which is frequently used in the UK referring to a style and form of
medium density housing that originated in Europe during the sixteenth century (Daniel 2015).
Terraced houses constitute a row of uniform or mirror like images that correspond with each other
in terms of their size and form also given the fact that they are house which share one wall known
as party walls (Daniel 2015). The first ever example of a terraced house was sited in Paris, France.

Hills Like White Elephants Literary Analysis
Hills Like White Elephants
Luke Wakumoto
In Ernest Hemingway s short story Hills Like White Elephants, a couple discusses whether or not
the woman should have an abortion. In the story, the couple s final decision was left ambiguous.
Though there are many theories about the outcome, it can be inferred that the couple did not have
the abortion because the man left his baggage near the delta, the couple ordered Anis del Toro in a
bar, and Ernest Hemingway s stories often parallel his life experiences. The man throughout the
short story is shown moving his bags. Assuming the bags are a metaphor for the man s life, this
movement could symbolize indecision, mirroring Ernest Hemingway s indecision regarding his
own children. The man and woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
( across, on the other side, were fields of grain and trees along the banks of the Ebro
(Hemingway, 5)) The baggage acted as a symbol for the man s choice. At the beginning, the
baggage is near the desolate land (symbolizing getting an abortion), but is then carried to the
fertile land (symbolizing keeping the baby). After the man and woman enter the bar, the man
orders an Anis Del Toro. When the bartender asks the man if he wants the drink with water, the
man responds Yes, with water. (Hemingway, 2) In Spanish, Anis Del Toro means Seed of the
Bull. The water, which was ordered with the Anis Del Toro, symbolizes the water needed to
grow a seed. The drink with the water symbolizes the baby being born and growing as a seed
would. As the man and women are sitting in the bar, the man mentions that the train is coming in
five minutes. (Hemingway, 7) The train arriving and soon to be leaving the station parallels Ernest
Hemingway s history of leaving his wives. In addition, just like the man in the story, although
Hemingway did not want any children, he never forced his wives to have an abortion. So the
couple in Hills Like White Elephants let the unborn child live, as evidenced by the location that the
man put his baggage, the drink that he ordered, and Hemingway s

Pros And Cons Of Global Corruption
Global Corruption
Corruption can be defined as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It can be classified as
grand, petty and political, depending on the amounts of money lost and the sector where it occurs.
Bribery, extortion and embezzlement are the three principle versions of corruption. For instance,
an employee of a firm who is in charge of purchasing functions takes some amount of money from
a supplier (bribery), in which that same employee ensures the payment for the products to be above
the usual price. Then the residuary amount between the actual price and the turgid price after
bribery would get siphoned off by the employee and the supplier (embezzlement). If it s the case of
political corruption, an exemplifying scenario can be, some government officials use their positions
to extort payments from some government regulated firms. Expectably, economic corruption
impairs development and political corruption depraves prospering governance. Unfortunately, both
of these types of corruption continuously persist all around the world .
Every year, Transparency Internationalpublishes a Global Corruption Index analyzing each country
s projected corruption predicated on the scope of bribery, illegitimate government expenditures and
absence of anti corruption regulations . For the last few decades, some countries have been
continuously occupying the end of the list together. By the end of last year, the top three most
corrupted countries were Afghanistan, Somalia and North Korea. Almost all of Afghanistan s
widespread corruption is connected to misuse of aid money that was provided to the country by
international entities. The Afghan government in 2012 promised to put efforts to diminish the
problem, however because of the fact that public officials are the largest beneficiaries from
corruption, there is not much of significant improvements has been made towards corruption
reduction . Somalia has experienced similar issues as well. One of the World Bank reports showed
that within the matter of 2 years, the aid money that Somalia received which is around $130
million . Furthermore, Somalia s private companies have been reportedly paying certain fees to the
government officials in exchange of

Living During The Neolithic Period
Domestic versus wild is a separation seen during the Neolithic period. We see hunters slowly
progress into hunters and gathers and then we see an advancement of the people starting to live in
permanent houses and communities. The evidence of this change is seen through the artwork
found of the Neolithic period. We see a transformation from the people following their food to
settling down, producing their own food and starting to view their settlements as their own. They
go from, as one may say, being one with the earth and following nature whether it is following food
or climate changes into developing a culture, small establishments, and creating communities. There

The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright
The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright
Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed
by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and
pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the
superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to
subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that
criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self
organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than
the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the
outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it
influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. KEYWORDS: Copyright,

Cleansing rain can symbolize a change in someone. This change can be symbolized as a mental
awakening or change in a characteristic, big or small. Changes can include the way someone
sees themself or society. Liekt the lady in Song of Solomon , her cleansing rain washed away her
false ideal of beauty and left behind what beauty truly was. Cleansing rain can also symbolize
becoming stained , or having a negative change in a characteristic. This is through cleansing rain

Fog symbolizes confusion or a clouded mind. Characters may say that they have a foggy memory,

The Importance Of Santiago In The Old Man And The Sea
The Old Man and the Sea
The virtues that define if a man is successful may vary from person to person. First off, Santiago
(the old man) has a career of a fisherman, who has not caught a single fish in quite some time. Next
the old man has very few friends through his career as a fisherman, but still has some very good
ones. Finally, Being a fisherman can lead to many interesting encounters, either through people who
share his interest or with other creatures at sea, which we identify multiple times throughout The
Old Man and the Sea. Overall, to judge whether or not Santiago is successful, his career,
relationships, and experiences must be analyzed throughout the book. The first thing that
determines if a man is successful is his career and wealth. Santiago in The Old Man and the Sea is
a poverty stricken fisherman who is on an eighty four day no fish streak, making no money in quite
some time. He was an old man who had fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had
gone eighty four days now without taking a fish (Hemingway, 1952, pg. 9). This shows us that
Santiago is a fisherman that fishes alone all day and doesn t catch a single fish. Money is
basically an essential in today s day and age to get the things to provide for you and your family,
which Santiago didn t really have, and since he doesn t have any money he isn t very successful in
this aspect. Primarily, Santiago is not successful in his career of being a fisherman. Next, we must

The very first good effect he would have is, he will lose weight. Because one of the most obvious
reason he is overweight is from eating too much cookies. Because of eating excessive cookies, he

them how important it is for children to eat vegetables. By showing them, the Cookie Monster

The Cask Of Amontillado, By Edgar Allen Poe And Young...
Literature about Evil
The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the short stories The Cask of
Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe and Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Specifically it will discuss the phenomenon of evil in the human heart as it appears in these two
works. Evil lives in everyone, whether they want to acknowledge it or not. These two chilling tales
show two different sides of evil, but they both illustrate how evil can corrupt a person right down to
their very heart and soul.
The narrator, Montresor, in The Cask of Amontilladois so evil in his heart that he must gain
revenge over his adversary at all costs. His family motto is Nemo me impune lacessit [No one
assails me with impunity], and he feels his friend Fortunato has somehow insulted this honor, and
so he seeks the ultimate revenge. He walls his friend up inside a cellar and leaves him there to die.
Clearly, the narrator is insane, and that is a commonality between these two stories. Both the
protagonists are insane or mad, for whatever reason. Goodman Brown goes mad in the forest when
he believes he has encountered the devil, and the reader never knows what sets Montresor off,
except it is some kind of insult. The authors are very skillful in making both these men quite
unsympathetic characters, and that heightens the sense of evil surrounding them both.
Montresor may seem to be the more evil in nature, but Goodman Brown has his own issues of evil

Reap What You Sow in Silas Marner by George Eliot Essay
The definition of fate is the development of events beyond a person s control. It is regarded as
something determined by a supernatural power, but I believe otherwise. In fact, I believe the
exact opposite. I believe that people do in fact have the power to manipulate their fate; Based on
the good or bad choices they ve made in the past. The novelSilas Marnerby George Eliot, helps to
explain this. Through the actions of three major characters Dunstan Cass, Godfrey Cass, and Silas
Marner. These characters were chosen because they all made good or bad choices throughout the
novel with a clear punishment or reward; Or in other words these characters show how they control
their fate based on previous actions or choices. To begin with,... Show more content on

If he never made the choice of robbing Silas, he never would ve fell into the pit. This is only
what he deserves for being selfish and full of spite. Dunstan clearly shows that you can control
your fate based on the good or bad choices you make. Obviously, Godfrey s choices determined
his fate. Godfrey had the choice to tell the truth. He was given this opportunity during breakfast
with his father. Instead of telling his father the real reason why he gave the rent money to
Dunstan, he says, I wouldn t have spent the money myself, but Dunsey bothered me, and I was a
fool and let him have it (69). He could ve told the truth and relieve himself of Dunstan. Next,
Godfrey had the choice to admit that Eppie is his child. This chance arrived at Silas s cottage
when he took a look at Molly Farrens body. The right thing to do there was to take Eppie from
Silas like a good father would ve. Instead, he says to Silas, Let me give you something towards
finding it clothes (120). Godfrey was thinking only of getting Eppie out of the way, so that he
could continue courting Nancy Lammeter. He put himself over his own daughter just to get
what he wants. All of the sudden, 16 years later, Godfrey goes to ask Eppie to live with him. Eppie
declined his request with all due respect. As she says, Thank you, ma am thank you, sir for your

Donald Trump s Use Of Artifice In The Media
Political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux intimacy with
citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest. In the quote, Hedges is explaining
who uses artifice and what they do with their power. Artifice is a skill that is difficult to
maintain and keep realistic. Being the most essential skill, artifice is the art of deceiving.
People s ideas and thoughts are altered for the gain of one and the loss of another. Everyone will
need artifice at some point in their life to get the attention, item, or person they want.
Specifically, our current President, Donald Trump, uses artifice all too much. He has exceeded
his use of artifice. Trump won was because of his excellent use of artifice. He was able to
persuade enough people to vote for him and his changes he would fulfill. Artifice takes quite skill
to make believable for your audience. The importance of artifice during his ruling is immense,
making it the most essential skill. Donald Trump is portrayed as a lying, evil individual in the
media. Although we may not know the complete and total truth, we are able to identify that he is
lying about something. For example, one of the very first things Trump had said to gather the
attention of the audience would be about getting rid of all illegal immigrants. Rapidly, people began
turning their heads and opening their ears when they finally understood what he was trying to do.

Budget Deficits and Economic Growth
Economists generally agree that high budget deficits today will result in the reduction of the
growth rate of the economy in the future. The United States budgetary situation has disintegrated
significantly since 2001, when the CBO ( Congressional Budget Office ) forecast average annual
surpluses of nearly $850 billion from 2009 2012. In April of 2011, it was revealed that our nation is
12.7 trillion dollars in debt which surpasses by a wide margin, the 2001 CBO forecast of a
cumulative surplus by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unless the deficit spending is allotted to purchases resulting in long term increases in real GDP,
future generations will have to endure taxation at an elevated rate. This is the only way that the
government entity will be capable of retiring the elevated public debt which has resulted from this
generation s consumption of goods, provided governmentally. Added to this dilemma, the increased
level of consumption by this same generation crowds out investment, thus a reduction of capital
goods growth is apparent, leaving future generations with insignificant capital stock and a drastic
reduction of their wealth. ( time.com) In relation to our foreign debt, future generations may be
taxed to repay this exorbitant debt plus aggregated interest however this does not have to be etched
in stone. It all depends entirely on the projects that the government funds in the future. If these
projects are of a wasteful nature our future generations may face yet another added burden. This
would also stymie the growth rate of the economy in the future. The deficit must be maintained to
ensure that the nation s economy grows with its resource position. Our nation must do everything
in its power to reduce the deficit. Economic growth is also further impaired by government
borrowing, which essentially is competing for money against the private sector. The continuance of
government borrowing is denying the U.S.

Linda Loman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Linda Loman is the heart and soul of the Loman household. She loves her family, even though she
is all too aware of husband s faults and her sons characters. She provides a sharp contrast to the
seamy underbelly of the world of sex, symbolized by the Woman and the prostitutes. They operate
in the real world as part of the impersonal forces that corrupt. Happy equates his unhealthy
relationships with women to taking manufacturer s bribes, and Willy s Boston whore can put him
right through to the buyers. In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Linda Loman holds the family
together through purity and love she keeps the accounts, encourages her husband, and tries to ...

They are thus in an objective rather than subjective category. In any case what feel is always
more real to us than what we know, and we feel the family relationship while we only know the
social one. (Florio 35 36)
If Willy is not totally unsympathetic (and he is not), much of the goodness in him is demonstrated
in his devotion to his wife, according to his lights. Though he is often masterful and curt, he is
still deeply concerned about her: I was fired, and I m looking for a little good news to tell your
mother, because the woman has waited and the woman has suffered. Biff is attached to his mother,
and Happy s hopelessness is most graphic in his failure to be honest with, or concerned about, his
family. The family s devotion to one another, even though misguided, represents a recognizable
American ideal.
Linda, for all her warmth and goodness, goes along with her husband and sons in the best
success manual tradition. She tries to protect them from the forces outside and fails. The
memory of her suffering and her fidelity does not keep Willy and Happy from sex or Biff from
wandering. Miller s irony goes still deeper. While Linda is a mirror of goodness and the source of
the family s sense of identity, she is not protection by her silence and her support, she unwittingly

Ethnography or field research is a sociological method that explores how people live and make
sense of their lives with one another in particular places. The focus might be on understanding the
human race and the meaning they produce through everyday interactions, or places, and the
organizational logics that guide our activities (columbia.edu, 2017). A discourse community

These businesses that are run by students are very vital to the student body that is interested in
business and entrepreneurship. They should be introduced in every campus that hosts business
studies. Business students read about ventures, organizations and management in textbooks, but it s
a completely different experience while making decisions about an actual business. The thrill of
making decisions, feeling the consequences of every decision made is something that cannot be
taught. It must be experienced. This method of learning would revolutionize how business and
management is taught in universities, creating social change and bettering society (Mars, Matthew

Teen Conformity in Sinclair Lewis Babbitt and in Society...
Teen Conformity in Babbitt and in Society Today
In society today, people feel the need to belong. They feel as though they have to be a part of
something in order to feel special. At times, they will go so far as to lose their individuality and
submit themselves into complete ignorance just to be able to know that there is someone or
something to which they can always fall back on. Conformity is one of the most common and most
apparent forms of Babbittry in the twenty first century. First, the question must be answered: What
is conformity? The answer, of course, is very simple. Conformity is a person changing their attitude
or behavior on their own in order to fulfill certain social norms (Ferguson). Conforming to ... Show

This part is a perfect representation of how sometimes teenagers like to conform to being rebellious
against their parents and higher institutions. His views are characteristic of the common teenager
that school and our elders can t teach us anything. This point is obvious when Ted says (concerning
college), Yuh, but Dad, they just teach a lot of old junk that isn t any practical use except the
manual training and typewriting and basketball and dancing and in these correspondence courses,
gee, you can get all kinds of stuff that would come in handy. (Lewis 77). Ted speaks about how
frustrated he is with his Dad being content with simply sitting around the house and doing nothing
(Lewis 220). His need to be different and to not go to college is a perfect example of a teenager s
need to rebel against their parents. Ted s assumption that his elders are boring is another form of
teen conformity. Even today, children wish to do things that they think are better as opposed to
what their elder s tell them.
Teen conformity can also be seen with Ted s party for the Senior Class. At this party the Babbitt

is completely against the idea but his wife tells him, [I]f you get angry because they go out to their

Voltaire s Candide Denouncing Providence
Eighteenth century France was ruled by the divine power of Louis le XIV, the regime of

and religious determinism. Les Philosophes des LumiГЁres notably Voltaireinstilled logic and
reason to combat theological and metaphysical solutions surrounding French populations whilst
pushing for a separation between the Catholic church and the state. Voltaire, also known as

The reference to the devastating earthquake demonstrates that misfortunes can happen to innocent
people and philosophizing that we live in the best possible worlds (i.e not acting for one s self) is
no solution or way to live a progressive life or to avert such tragedies, thus he denounces that
acting for one s self is a better option. There is nothing moral about the earthquake hence, there is
certainly no justification for such a disaster. Pangloss is demonstrating blind optimism as he states
everything is for the best, even in situations as dreadful as this, ridiculing Leibniz theory of
providence. Catriona Seth PhD, a professor for 18th century French literature at Oxford University
in her blog: Why is there an earthquake in Candide? Discusses the Lisbon Earthquake present in

against your optimism [Lisbon earthquake] . Voltaire uses plenum and materia subtilis as an

Secrecy In Romeo And Juliet Essay
Mahatma Gandhi once said, An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. Known as one
of the most famous plays about love, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play about
the fatal love of two children born to feuding families. The feud between the Montagues and the
Capulets was not only a battle between two warring families, but it serves as a barrier between
two star crossed lovers (Prologue. 6). This feud, introduced in the beginning of the play, serves as
the catalyst for the all the conflicts in the play. Hatred between these two families, made them blind
to the lovesprouting between their children. The families strife is the backbone of the play, and
without it, no conflict would have happened. The feud was the reason for Romeo and Juliet s
deaths because of the secrecy of their romance, the web of miscommunication, and the banishment
of Romeo.

Secrecy caused more issues than simply secrecy itself, but as secrecy acted, other events
appeared that also factored into Romeo and Juliet s deaths. Because Romeo cannot ask Capulet
for Juliet s hand because of the feud, Friar marries them secretly. As a result, Capulet is ignorant
about this and agrees to let Paris marry Juliet. (3.4.21 22) Juliet then goes to Friar Lawrence, who
unwittingly sets in motion the events that leads to the lovers tragic deaths. In addition, ignorance
of Lord Capulet to the events, caused him to move the day of the marriage of Paris and Juliet up a
day. (4.2.21 22) This by itself created multiple issues regarding timing, such as shortening the time
that the letter from Friar Lawrence had to be delivered to Romeo, and causing Juliet to take her
potion a day

My Family Relationships

within the genogram and apparent during my life which has not been overlooked. My familyof
origin dynamic was filled with support and love and was built based on the resilience of my
grandparents who suffered trauma in their lives and on my mother who was determined to do all
that she could despite my father s absence. My parents were young adults when my mother
realized that she was pregnant with me. They never married and shortly after my arrival decided
to separate due to their inability to trust and communicate properly with one another. My parents
were polar opposites and were not able to accommodate each other which created conflict and
avoidance. As I grew older, I noticed the discomfort between my parents even through their attempt
to co parent and eventually I become closer and aligned with mother. In analyzing my family
dynamics from a Bowenian perspective, I was in the midst of a triangle between my parents.
Additionally, the relationship between my father and I can be identified as an area of conflict, as
well an emotional cutoff. My father was demeaning and harshly critical of others which created

The Poor Need Pro Bono Legal Services Essay
Over the years, the practice of law has been left to the regime of a group of people commonly
referred to as lawyers. Though the term may vary from place to place or jurisdiction, the same
has a general meaning to refer to those who have studied law. Further it is left to the jurisdiction s
discretion to determine how they are to grant one the status of being a lawyer either through
education, certification amongst other means that different jurisdictions apply to afford such a
status. In the provision of their services, over the years, the lawyers have come to appreciate the
fact that some of their potential clients lack the capacity to pay for those services. This has led to
a rise of what is termed as pro bono services. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They argue that it is for this reason that not only should pro bono services be offered but law
firms should come up with direct rules on providing the same. In particular, Article 14(3)(d) of
the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) is in its entirety advocates
for the provision of legal aid as well as provision of fair trial and access to justice. In light to the
realization of the ICCPR provisions, it is only proper for those advocating for pro bono services
to align the services to the conventions call to ensure there is a right to self defense with regards
to criminal cases as well as a right for one to choose their legal assistance. This could be deemed
to be the rationale behind the provision of pauper briefs too as well as state counsel in capital
offences. However, with reference to state counsels, there have been audible discomforts to the
fact that the same is under the discretion of the state and not the accused robbing them off the
right to choose their counsel. To this end, many of them end up with lawyers who are lowly
experienced unlike where they would be given the right to choose their own representatives. Such
activities have been known to go out of their way to the benefit of the society thus their supporters

  • 2. Team Tack Shoppe Analysis I would like to become a part of Team Tack Shoppe because I want to be able to represent a successful small business. Being a Team Tack Shop ambassador would be an excellent way for me to be able to connect with more positive, motivated equestrians. I started riding at the age of eight, when my dad took me to the barn in our neighborhood. I had initially just went to pet the horses, but I ended getting to ride; and that is where it all started. Soon after I started taking lessons at a local barn. Four years later I purchased my first pony, Trigger, from my trainer. I worked so hard for the money to buy Trigger, and I was so proud of him. Sadly I was only able to keep Trigger for about a year before I had to sell him back to my trainer. I still continued with lessons and rode when I could, but I didn t get to purchase my next horseuntil I was twenty. I purchased Talia in January 2015 and trained her myself. I plan on making her into my competitive jumper and showing her as much as I possibly can.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that true equestrians are a special kind of people, they look out for each other and really want the best for each other. As I look back on the many people that have helped and guided me over the years, I too want to do that for the equestrians in my life now. I strive to be a positive, motivated rider who is always there to help. I think having the privilege of caring for my own horses has taught me a lot about responsibility. Riding has changed my life in the way that it has (in a good way!) become my whole life. Of course I make time for family, but they all know that I am passionate about not only riding, but horses in general. I really appreciate all that horses have taught me overall; patience, communication, hard work, responsibility, and many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Design And Analysis Of Computer Experiments Introduction According to the case study, the design and analysis of computer experiments (DACE) were applied as a tool to identify the risks associated with laser welding in an electronic welding process for developing the substrate product development effort. This process, DACE, used the computer simulations to easily predict the stresses and warp of the sample with varying factor levels. The main advantage here is instead of making eight different samples, the whole work was finishing with a computer, and it saves a lot of time and money. In general, the DFSS project having two steps such as first to identifying critical parameters (Y s) that are strongly associated with success of the project, as well as to identify the controllable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, the team uses only 25 2 fractional factorial designs through computer simulations. However, the team uses finite element analysis software along with DOE to predict two responses from each run such as the stress and the deformation. In the case study, we observe the images that show the stress and deformation due to a temperature change. The high stress and deformation areas are shown by the red color. The low stress and deformation areas are indicated by the dark blue color. At last the deformation of a single layer was imported into MATLAB (a matrix computing environment) to calculate the radius of curvature or warp. The immediate step in this sequential experimentation was enhancing the factorial experiment with a center point and star points i.e. a central composite design (CCD), fully explores the extremes of the factor levels. It goes beyond the +1/ 1 levels to get a better understanding of the effects the factors on the results. The CCD consisted of a center point and six star points. The star points represent the +/ 2 alpha levels of the factors. Here the dots are connected to one another through the center; the resulting shape is a star. There are six dots because there are two extreme cases for each important factor. This analysis helps to provide a better understanding of the effects on results such ... • 4. How To Solve The Objective Problem Since there are only two variables , we can solve this problem using the Graphical Method by graphing the set of points in the plane that satisfies the constraint set and then finding which point of this set maximizes the value of the objective function . Each inequality constraint is satisfied by a half plane of points, and the constraint set is the intersection of all the half planes. In the present example, the constraint set is the five sided figure shaded in Figure 1.(2) We want to determine the point гЂ–( xгЂ—_(1 ),x_в–€(2@)) that maximizes the objective function . The function г Ђ– xгЂ—_(1 )+ x_в–€(2 @)is constant over any line with slope = 1 and as we move this line further up and to right from the origin the value of the function... The linear programming problem is said to be unbounded when the objective function is infinite , so it has a solution that can be made infinitely large without violating any of its constraints . • 5. Thesis On Banking Proposal Banking Proposal Name Institution Course Professor Date Banking Proposal Intro Thesis In our society people interact with the banking industry everyday. As of 2014 the industry had revenues of $426 billion (IBIS, 2014). Monetary policy effects how citizens and corporations approach the economy. Banks have the ability to influence monetary decision making of each individual causing change in the state of the economy. Following is a discussion of how banks affect behavior of people in the economy. Role in the Market Banks play a huge role in the market. Their monetary policies can increase or decrease the amount of spending in the economy. The Federal Reserve Bank, the United States central bank, has the most power of all banks. It is considered to be the bank s bank. It was established by an act of congress in 1913, which created the Federal Reserve System. This system regulates the banks in the economy. Since the Fed has so much control its policies directly influence all banks. This is typically steered by the interest rates. What Causes Interest Rates to Fluctuate? As stated before interest rates are influenced by many different factors, bank rates in general, follow policy changes, bank rates also change in response to market conditions, independently of changes in the official target rates (Lim, 2013). For example the financial crisis in 2008, caused by the housing market, resulted in tight credit conditions and high interest rates. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Philosophy And Science Of The Same Breath The philosophers Leucippus and Democritus are constantly mentioned in the same breath. Since the bulk of their works did not survive the middle ages, we have only fragments and the writings of their peers and successors to tell us about their accomplishments and ideas. It is difficult to separate these two men because they are praised or critiqued as a unit by contemporaries and followers, but their exact relationship is unclear. Sources such as Diogenes Laertius do not link them as teacher and student, but rather as acquaintances. However, in Metaphysics, Aristotle refers to Democritusas Leucippusdisciple , equating the two philosophers ideas of full and void (the idea of atoms and the space in which they move). But whatever their relationship, their legacy of atomismis an important one, and it has influenced philosophy and science down to the present day. There is comprehensive access to primary sources on these philosophers and their ideas through both the Perseus Digital Library and the Online Loeb Classical Library. The countless references to Democritus in Aristotle s work are available both in original language and translation, as well as passing references to Leucippus, Democritus, and their philosophy from authors such as Sextus, Diogenes Laertius and others. Although these primary sources are mostly fragmented quotes or philosophical rebuttals to Democritus and Leucippus works, they provide much needed information on early atomist thought. The ... • 7. Spastic Cerebral Palsy Spastic cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that unfolds in the developing brain either right before birth or shortly after, typically before the child turns one year of age. Head injuries that occur several weeks after birth may also cause spastic cerebral palsy. Spastic cerebral palsy makes up roughly eighty percent of all cerebral palsycases, since there are other types; spastic is considered to be the most common. Spastic cerebral palsy causes neuromuscular mobility impairment meaning that there is a lack in connection between the nerves and muscles. The two parts of the brain affected by spastic cerebral palsy are the cerebral motor cortex and the white matter. The cerebral motor cortex is responsible for movement, hearing, speech, thinking, visual processing etc. Therefore if the cerebral motor cortex is damaged then all those previously listed may be affected. White matter is responsible for transmitting signals to the body, consequently if it is damaged, nervesignals are interrupted. (Common Parts of the Brain Affected by Cerebral Palsy.) Spastic cerebral palsy carries many symptoms which include musclespasticity/stiffness, joint contracture, paralysis, seizures, dysarthria, difficulty eating/swallowing, drooling, irregular breathing (respiratory problems), unsteady gait, learning disabilities, hearing/eyesight problems, slower growth than average, scoliosis, bowel problems, or urinary incontinence. • 8. Underage Drinking Essay example Underage Drinking In the article Why the Drinking Age should be Lowered, Ruth Engs believes that the drinking age should be lowered to about 18 or 19. Engs is a Professor at Indiana University in the Health and Sciences department. In this article Engs makes a valid point in that responsible drinking could be taught through role modeling and educational programs. Engs also states facts about the different drinking ages in other countries, and that the United States has the highest legal purchasing age for alcoholic beverages in the world. According to Engs s research all of the irresponsible behaviors involving drinking such as: fighting, drinking and driving, students missing class because of hangovers, or vomiting after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these cultures young people learn from their parents about drinking and the responsibility that comes with it. Engs suggests that we need to change the current prohibition law and teach responsible drinking techniques for people that choose to consume alcohol. Engs states facts, suggests alternative solutions, and relates the past from the present; this is why her article is believable. Engs does have many valid points in this article; however the drinking age probably won t change any time soon. The problem with drinking and driving would greatly increase, if the prohibition were to change the law of purchasing or consuming alcohol. Society would break out in madness and there would probably be many riots, and reports of violent behavior would increase. I believe that Engs has a fantastic argument; however the government probably won t change their drinking laws in the near future. Engs obviously has a great experience with this topic because she is a professor at Indiana University in the Health and Science department. However, I am not sure why she is trying to argue for the drinking age to be lowered because she is obviously over the age of 21. She has many strong points and can tell she has done a serious amount of research on this topic. Engs does give many examples about how college students drink responsibly. ... • 9. The Popularity Of Tea During The Tang And Song Eras Of China On the topic of world beverages, there is none such as ubiquitous as tea. Within history, tea has played a large role in many monumental world events, from the American Revolution to the Opium Wars. Though the origin of this bitter, fragrant juice is uncertain, it is known that tea cultivation is rooted in China. Though teahad been known and consumed prior, it was not until the Tang dynasty that a level of artistry surrounded tea was achieved. By the Tang dynasty and up through the Song, tea had developed a rather contradictory identity. To tea purists such as Lu Yu, tea was an almost spiritual art, closely related to the ideals of Buddhism, to be savored individually in a quest for enlightenment. To many others, tea was a commercial and social drink, the facilitator of social gatherings and a luxury indicator of social rank. This paper will explore the development of these contrasting identities through the unprecedented expansion of the popularity of tea during the Tang and Song eras of China, and its relationship with poetry, religion, and social conventions. Moderation is the very essence of tea. Tea does not lend itself to extravagance. Thus is said about tea by Lu Yu, the Tang dynasty author of the groundbreaking work ambitiously titled The Classic of Tea. One cannot understand the mindset surrounding tea during the Tang dynasty without knowledge of this monumental work. Lu Yu s role in spreading tea culture throughout the Tang dynasty was vast to the extent that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They had a partial match donor to help save the son life but unfortunately the partial match donor was found to have pneumonia. Because the doctors thought the son had a donor they started to prepare him for the transplant by stripping his immune system and unless he received the transplant within a week he would die. If doctor Addison does this she can control how the C section will work and she can have different teams ready, one team to help with the umbilical cord transplant for the son, another team ready to care for the premature baby, and one team to help the mother and finish the C section. This would allow for the son to receive the transplant, saving his life. But the premature baby must be carefully cared since the chance of dying is high, she would need to be monitored and forced to stay in the hospital for quite some time till fully development or approval from doctors. Perspective number 2: Another perspective for this case is that Doctor Addison does not preform the C section. The sick son would be placed back on the transplant list with the hope that they could find another donor before the son dies. But most likely the son would die since he only had a week left to live. Although, this wouldn t place the unborn baby at risk for complications due to being born premature. The women was 6 months pregnant and the doctors were not concern of any risk, only increasing the likeness of the couple having a healthy baby being born. Perspective number 3: Another possible perspective is for the mother carrying the baby to endure her own delivery such as by breaking her own water. This puts the mother at risk because she has to induce her own delivery without the knowledge of the proper way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

American blue collar workers and the Middle Class American will soon be a word of the past if the US government continues outsourcing the low skill jobs overseas. One of the concerns in regards to the outsourcing of jobs is that wages of American jobs versus the wages of the Chinese, Japanese, Indians and Philippians are much less. If these workers were using the same identical technology and having the same identical skills were paid the same wages, there would be no problem. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a concept that has evolved from a manufacturing perspective to a strategic perspective, which views the concept as a way for organizations to focus and be more competitive. The basic premise of outsourcing is that a specialist organization can perform a particular service more efficiently than can internal operations because a specialist organization has an inherent advantage in producing and delivering a service. Superior technology, management skills, or economies of scale may contribute to this perception. The type of sourcing relationship depends on whether a long term or short term need exists. To save funds used for benefits for regular employees, temporary workers are hired. In this case, the organization (outsourcer) provides all necessary resources except the workers, who are provided by the vendor. For long term services, the vendor has full responsibility for delivering the service; the outsourcer provides only a liaison. The Negative As with so many global trends, there is significant disagreement over the implications of global competition in services for American prosperity and competitiveness. Many people are pessimistic about the impact of offshore outsourcing at a time when American workers are having more difficulty finding employment, since it creates personal hardships, reduces the tax base and increases demands on our safety nets. • 14. Comparing Cuckoo And Can T Help Falling In Love The two songs that I will be analyzing have many differences that I have come across while analyzing. The first song is an Austrian folk song called Cuckoo . You can tell this is a folk song from the vivid story telling in the lyrics that lead to a yodel. The second song is an American pop song called Can t Help Falling in Love which was written by George David Weiss, Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore and made most famous by Elvis Presley for the album/soundtrack Blue Hawaii in 1961. The main similarity between these two songs is that they have certain rhythms that get repeated multiple times. The two songs have different time signatures. Cuckoo has a compound meter with short and quick notes whereas Can t Help Falling in Love has a simple meter with more long notes. The folk songhas a narrow melodic range that stays in a single octave from D4 to D5 and is diatonic. There is no clear climax to this song and has more of a disjunct motion by having at least one leap in every other measure. The melodic contour of this song is pretty repetitive for the most part. Each measure is in an arch motion which would make every phrase more like a wave. The song also does not shy away from repetition. Almost every measure is either repeated or has a variation of it... Low healthy life expectancy is the imprecise number of years an individual or group of persons in a country is expected to live, staying healthy and free from disabilities. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines healthy life expectancy as the average number of years that a person is expected to live in full health, subtracting full health due to diseases and injury . Smoking does not have effect only on the person smoking but on the society at large. Furthermore, people perception towards health has caused a main impasse. Most individuals and countries are ostensibly careless about their health. In the developed world today, it is said that health is about physical appearance. Kaplan (2010) states that an individual s health links to a person s well being and poor health turns it negative . When a person is not concerned about his or her health, it leads to low healthy life expectancy and carrying out activities becomes very difficult. A possible solution to these problems is to raise the awareness of the government. The government should make a way for people to have regular check up, keeping them aware of their health status. In addition the government should formulate bye laws restricting smoking in public places. Secondly, another factor contributing to low healthy life expectancy is the climate of a country. Vardavas and Taylor (2007) define climate as the mean of state of the atmosphere, averaged over several years and all season with particular emphasis on those that affect the temperature of the earth surface in both logical and global mean sense . In most developed countries, climate has always been a major concern. The effect of climate could have a positive or a negative effect on an individual. Climate varies among developed countries. ... There were just a couple different kinds of variances I met when adding up the totals of my real spending this month. What I mean by this is a good budget variancesignified to me an outcome that was better than I expected. This one large bad budget variance I had consisted within my doctor s expenses budget. The reason I had such a large variance of almost one thousand one hundred dollars within my doctor s expenses is because I had to have surgery on my shoulder, and that was the amount of the co pay. Along with this I was unable to save ten percent of my budget this month because as I expressed above all off my existing savings and emergency fund went towards the procedure I had to have done. Concussions On The National Football League The National Football League, more commonly known as the NFL, has had growing cases of retired players that suffer from mental trauma or mental diseases from concussions. A concussion is a short loss of brain function following a direct or indirect force to the head. Concussions are extremely difficult to diagnose because the damage is seemingly invisible to the naked eye. Although the damages may not be present, the effects are long lasting. Concussions are plaguing retired NFL players and affecting the former athletes long term mental health. For this reason, there has been a lot of research suggesting that the NFL is not doing enough for it s athletes to shelter their brains. They have struggled with reporting and correctly diagnosing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statistics show NFL players are paid $1.9 million a year on average. An injury as severe and time consuming as a concussion can undoubtedly counteract this kind of pay. Professional athletes do not want to jeopardize sitting out a game and missing their opportunity, [t]he return to play decision is based on symptoms, and the problem is the players all want to get back yesterday and the question is whether they are being truthful and honest during their evaluations, Stieg said (Futterman). There is nothing doctors or trainers can do if the athlete lies about being symptom free. They can suspect the severity of the concussion by just observing the athlete s behavioral response toward certain things, like light or noise. As a result, early identification is extremely beneficial to accurately examine damages to the brain because it leads to degenerative diseases. These diseases are hard to catch if symptoms are not shown in the athlete right away. The NFL has to adopt better protocol to diagnose concussions based on medical data instead of assessing by judgment (Futterman). A more scientific approach is being studied that can diagnose concussions faster and more accurately. By using a simple blood test after six hours of forceful impact, the test can display brain cells that have broken down succeeding the impact. By exercising such a test, it can rid the uncertainty of when it is safe to get an athlete back on the field without triggering further cognitive damages. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cannabis is the third widely used drug in the United States following alcohol and tobacco even though it is currently illegal. Because marijuana is so used so much and is illegal it plays a big role in the War on Drugs. War on Drugs is a term commonly applied to a campaign of prohibition of drugs, military aid, and military intervention, with the purpose being to define and reduce the illegal drug trade in the United States (Giroux Pollock). The purpose is to set drug policies that are intended to decrease the production, distribution, and consumption of illegal drugs. Because marijuana is illegal the price of the final product increases to very high values because of the black market status, which together with the powerful effects of drug addiction causes users to commit crimes in order to fund their addiction. If weed became legal and regulated in the United States, the price would decrease leading to the decrease in the illegal drug industry. This would also decrease the crimes committed by both drug sellers and drug users. The government spends a lot of money on trying to stop citizens from using marijuana while there are more important things the government should be spending their money on such as social programs. • 31. Pros And Cons Of Global Corruption Global Corruption Corruption can be defined as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It can be classified as grand, petty and political, depending on the amounts of money lost and the sector where it occurs. Bribery, extortion and embezzlement are the three principle versions of corruption. For instance, an employee of a firm who is in charge of purchasing functions takes some amount of money from a supplier (bribery), in which that same employee ensures the payment for the products to be above the usual price. Then the residuary amount between the actual price and the turgid price after bribery would get siphoned off by the employee and the supplier (embezzlement). If it s the case of political corruption, an exemplifying scenario can be, some government officials use their positions to extort payments from some government regulated firms. Expectably, economic corruption impairs development and political corruption depraves prospering governance. Unfortunately, both of these types of corruption continuously persist all around the world . Every year, Transparency Internationalpublishes a Global Corruption Index analyzing each country s projected corruption predicated on the scope of bribery, illegitimate government expenditures and absence of anti corruption regulations . For the last few decades, some countries have been continuously occupying the end of the list together. By the end of last year, the top three most corrupted countries were Afghanistan, Somalia and North Korea. Almost all of Afghanistan s widespread corruption is connected to misuse of aid money that was provided to the country by international entities. The Afghan government in 2012 promised to put efforts to diminish the problem, however because of the fact that public officials are the largest beneficiaries from corruption, there is not much of significant improvements has been made towards corruption reduction . • 35. The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self organize. Next the old man has very few friends through his career as a fisherman, but still has some very good ones. Finally, Being a fisherman can lead to many interesting encounters, either through people who share his interest or with other creatures at sea, which we identify multiple times throughout The Old Man and the Sea. He was an old man who had fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty four days now without taking a fish (Hemingway, 1952, pg. 9). This shows us that Santiago is a fisherman that fishes alone all day and doesn t catch a single fish. Money is basically an essential in today s day and age to get the things to provide for you and your family, which Santiago didn t really have, and since he doesn t have any money he isn t very successful in this aspect. • 41. The Cask Of Amontillado, By Edgar Allen Poe And Young... Literature about Evil The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the short stories The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe and Young Goodman Brown by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Specifically it will discuss the phenomenon of evil in the human heart as it appears in these two works. Evil lives in everyone, whether they want to acknowledge it or not. These two chilling tales show two different sides of evil, but they both illustrate how evil can corrupt a person right down to their very heart and soul. The narrator, Montresor, in The Cask of Amontilladois so evil in his heart that he must gain revenge over his adversary at all costs. His family motto is Nemo me impune lacessit [No one assails me with impunity], and he feels his friend Fortunato has somehow insulted this honor, and so he seeks the ultimate revenge. He walls his friend up inside a cellar and leaves him there to die. Clearly, the narrator is insane, and that is a commonality between these two stories. Both the protagonists are insane or mad, for whatever reason. Goodman Brown goes mad in the forest when he believes he has encountered the devil, and the reader never knows what sets Montresor off, except it is some kind of insult. The authors are very skillful in making both these men quite unsympathetic characters, and that heightens the sense of evil surrounding them both. Montresor may seem to be the more evil in nature, but Goodman Brown has his own issues of evil to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Donald Trump s Use Of Artifice In The Media Political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda to create a sense of faux intimacy with citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or honest. In the quote, Hedges is explaining who uses artifice and what they do with their power. Artifice is a skill that is difficult to maintain and keep realistic. Being the most essential skill, artifice is the art of deceiving. People s ideas and thoughts are altered for the gain of one and the loss of another. Everyone will need artifice at some point in their life to get the attention, item, or person they want. Specifically, our current President, Donald Trump, uses artifice all too much. He has exceeded his use of artifice. Trump won was because of his excellent use of artifice. He was able to persuade enough people to vote for him and his changes he would fulfill. Artifice takes quite skill to make believable for your audience. The importance of artifice during his ruling is immense, making it the most essential skill. Donald Trump is portrayed as a lying, evil individual in the media. Although we may not know the complete and total truth, we are able to identify that he is lying about something. This is the only way that the government entity will be capable of retiring the elevated public debt which has resulted from this generation s consumption of goods, provided governmentally. Added to this dilemma, the increased level of consumption by this same generation crowds out investment, thus a reduction of capital goods growth is apparent, leaving future generations with insignificant capital stock and a drastic reduction of their wealth. It all depends entirely on the projects that the government funds in the future. If these projects are of a wasteful nature our future generations may face yet another added burden. This would also stymie the growth rate of the economy in the future. The deficit must be maintained to ensure that the nation s economy grows with its resource position. Our nation must do everything in its power to reduce the deficit.
