The Piano Lesson Is A Play That Was Written By August Wilson.
The Piano Lesson is a play that was written by August Wilson. The story is used in a collection of
plays by Wilson to show the struggles of African Americans throughout the twentieth century The
story takes place in 1937 Pittsburgh with an African American family that battle within themselves on
whether or not to keep a family heirloom, a carved piano. Wilson hits hot points of the past and today
with his view on civil rights and the power of death. In The Piano Lesson is a tool that allows the
reader to see that August Wilson wants to address that death should not be feared, all races should be
held to the same standard, and that woman should be allowed to express themselves without the
oppression of men. If one let s death control their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is in a literal battle with a member of the dead and he survives. Had he not overcome death
previously Willie would have suffered the consequences. He is able to live another day because of the
fact that he is not afraid to die. Racial tensions still have a large impact on modern society that need to
be changed so that all are considered equal. Wilson starts by pointing out the racial inadequacies in
society using the scene where Lymon and Boy Willie go to collect their wood, Me [Lymon] and Boy
Willie got away but the sheriff got us. Say we was stealing wood. They shot me in my stomach
(Wilson 37). The police assume because the men are black that they are stealing the wood.
Discrimination, in the end, is the long build up of misunderstandings between people who at first
glance seem to be unsimilar. This is shown by the incident with the wood. The police believe that Boy
Willie and Lymon are stealing the wood, even though they were given permission to take some of the
wood for themselves. By assuming that they are thieves, they draw a line between blacks and whites.
They then spread this assumption to others who conclude the same thing which further strengthens the
division. This leads to entire populations hating other populations from one misunderstanding. Hatred
carries influence, and hatred is a powerful tool that Wilson shows that the whites dominate. For
example, And he go and fix it with the law that them is his berries.

Pricing and Financial Management of Contracts
Hugo Corporation Maximize Price Competition
1. You are concerned about the clarity of the purchase description in light of the lack of competition
on the current purchase. As a buyer, what can you do?
a. You can elect to rewrite the purchase description in more detail and have it reviewed in house for
feedback.
b. Or if circumstances permit, invite interested offerors who reply to the initial solicitation, to an oral
presentation of the offer and clarify any issues before requesting official bids or proposals. This can be

What factors do you think affect this difference?
a. Washington Central knew they did not meet the award criteria with 2 instructors having no masters
degree and was hoping the low bid would compensate. Also engineers with bachelors command less
compensation that engineers with masters.
b. All their trainers were permanent employees working in DC and its possible that if they did not get
this contract they may become idle resources on the payroll.
3. The proposal of Washington Independents is $39,286 less than the Government estimate. What
factors do you think affect this difference?
The government may have estimated significant travel and lodging expenses for the instructors. But
the instructors at Washington Independents were all within 15 miles of each training location. This
significantly reduced travel expense e.g rental cars, airfares, and possibly eliminated additional
lodging expenses e.g hotels.
4. Los Angeles Quality has the highest proposed price. What factors do you think affect this
difference?
The 11 instructors that need to travel from LA to DC is a significant factor affecting the price. The
main price difference was the LA estimate to provide training at the Washington DC location. Los
Angeles proposed prices for all training locations were on target or very close within $2,000.00 of the
government estimates; except for Washington, DC location where there was a

Fisher’s tenure began a series of changes at Kodak: cost cutting measures were introduced, faster
decisions were encouraged and there was a move towards proactive business strategies. An informal
manager, Fisher replaced the rigid hierarchical organization at Kodak and delegated decisions to line
managers. The change in also resulted in a refocus of activities which resulted in reductions of 9,000
jobs worldwide during 1994 and 1995 almost 10% of the workforce. The company posted a net
income of $1,252 million in 1995 (Exhibit 1).
Corporate Environmental Efforts
Kodak has a history of health, safety, and environment (HS E) awareness. The company’s formal
commitment to HS E began in 1936 with the creation of the Laboratory of Industrial Medicine. By the
late 1980s the company had instituted HS E policies and performance standards, and a corporate HS E
assessment program. Additionally, the corporate strategic planning processes included HS E priorities.
A corporate level HS E Management Council was created at Kodak in 1989. The Council brings
senior company officers together to provide direction and establish policies affecting performance. By
the 1990s, HS E criteria were beginning to be included in performance tracking, and prevention based
HS B programs were encouraged.
Kodak’s vision statement now includes HS E performance, and Fisher has also adopted an HS E

Jeep Research Paper
Personal Question
Why do I keep my Jeep when it keeps breaking down on me? That is the question that I have asked
myself multiple times over the summer. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my
Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the
answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an
automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To
my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a
specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. After browsing this selection,
I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a sport roll cage. This jeep came
with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly nicknamed the Tank , due to its
sturdy construction of cast iron. The fact that we found this jeep for under five thousand dollars was
astonishing to me, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity presented to me. When my father and I
had finally settled on this Jeep, we drove to savannah to inspect it ourselves. When we arrived at the

The Pros And Cons Of The Prohibition Era
The Prohibition Era, 1920 1933, was a time of turmoil and conflict as the ban of alcohol brought with
it the growth of organized crime in United States. The nationwide prohibition of alcohol was
introduced to solve social issues and most significantly, lower crime and corruption. Initially
established due to nationwide Temperance movements stating that banning alcohol would decrease
crime, however the banning of alcohol led to increased organized crime. Organized crime in America
grew during Prohibition due to the mafia, gangs and the mob utilizing the public demand for alcohol
for their own economic gain, bootlegging alcohol, using extortion and violence, all in is larger
quantities than was present before the 18th Amendment was passed. A Public demand for alcohol and
lack of enforcement of the 18th Amendment led to such an unsuccessful movement and eventually the
first United States Constitution Amendment to be repealed fully. The results of the 13 year noble
experiment are why the Prohibition Era and the 18tht Amendment were a complete failure. The 18th

bringing in profit, and organized crime always seeks to commercialize and to exploit human nature
(Landesco, 2808). Therefore, gangsters before Prohibition Era utilized other various lucrative markets
prior to the banning of alcohol manufacture. Gambling and Prostitution were among the gangster s
most profitable endeavors before 1920, still remaining profitable during Prohibition Era. Other areas
of criminal activity facilitated by gangsters before and throughout Prohibition included robbery,
hijacking, and contract killing. Although not as profitable, they aided in the maintaining of the

The Importance Of The Tennessee Centennial Exposition In...
Just like a Phoenix, Nashville, Tennessee was rising up from the ashes of the war between the states
and the Reconstruction Period. Prosperity was in the air and they were leading the New South out and
into the next century. The Tennessee Centennial Exposition, held in Nashville, was opened on 1 May
1897, which was eleven months after the original date it was supposed to celebrate. What they were
celebrating was Tennessee s one hundredth anniversary of statehood. The Tennessee Centennial
Exposition showed exhibits on their industry, agriculture, commerce, and transportation of the state
and displayed their educational and cultural achievement. They, the Americans, came together despite
their differences and made this the largest southern exposition. The Tennessee Centennial Exposition
was commemorating the history of the state. The exposition was developing the state s natural
resources, encouraging foreign investments, and increasing the state s population. It promoted their
devotion to the New South belief of industrial progress, racial harmony, and national reconciliation.

Politics In Haiti
As a developing nation, Haiti relies on international aid organizations to deliver some basic services
and necessities that the government is not able to. In the wake of the 2010 earthquake and the
subsequent cholera outbreak, Haiti needed aid organizations more than ever, so much so that the aid
community unintentionally gained political power. Recently, the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
stalled an economic aid package bound for Haiti due to the postponement of elections. The IMF did
not think it was prudent to disburse aid to an interim government with little to no experience
expending aid and the World Bank and the Inter American Dialogue Bank have taken similar stances.

Nietzsche s Accomplishments
From the ages of 14 to 19 (1858 1864), Nietzsche attended a first rate boarding school, Schulpforta,
located about 4km from his home in Naumburg, where he prepared for university studies. The school s
rigid educational atmosphere was reflected in its long history as a former Cistercian monastery (1137
1540), with buildings that included a 12th century Romanesque chapel and a 13th century Gothic
church. At Schulpforta a school whose alumnae included the German Idealist philosopher, Johann
Gottlieb Fichte (1762 1814) Nietzsche met his lifelong acquaintance, Paul Deussen (1845 1919), who
was confirmed at Nietzsche s side in 1861, and who was to become an Orientalist, historian of
philosophy, and in 1911, the founder of the Schopenhauer Society. ... Show more content on

In Leipzig, he developed a close friendship with Erwin Rohde (1845 1898), a fellow philology student
and future philologist, with whom he would correspond extensively in later years. Momentous for
Nietzsche in 1865 was his accidental discovery of Arthur Schopenhauer s The World as Will and
Representation (1818) in a local bookstore. He was then 21. Schopenhauer s atheistic and turbulent
vision of the world, in conjunction with his highest praise of music as an art form, captured Nietzsche
s imagination, and the extent to which the cadaverous perfume of Schopenhauer s world view
continued to permeate Nietzsche s mature thought remains a matter of scholarly debate. After
discovering Schopenhauer, Nietzsche read F.A. Lange s newly published History of Materialism and
Critique of its Present Significance (1866) a work that criticizes materialist theories from the
standpoint of Kant s critique of metaphysics, and that attracted Nietzsche s interest in its view that
metaphysical speculation is an expression of poetic

The Role Of The Female Narrator In Humphry Clinker
The novel Humphry Clinker is written almost exclusively through one sided letters of correspondence.
A majority of the letters presented in this novel are written by the two male narrators of the story,
leaving the rest of the space for the female narrators. While the male narrators of Jery Melford and
Matthew Bramble are used to offer most of the detail to the novel, the female narrators help to offer
portions of substance. The narrators of Tabitha Bramble, Lydia Melford, and Winifred Jenkins are
used to offer a deeper analysis and differing perspective of the events that take place, in turn
displaying the essence of the story. Each of the narrators have their own individual purpose in the
story. When the novel begins, Tabitha Bramble s letter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lydia often says things that speak about her sex and how she sees them to act. One instance where
Lydia does this is when she says I have seen enough to believe, that our sex in general make it their
business to ensnare others (289). Not only is Lydia basically saying that all women are nosy
busybodies, but that they use that quality to catch others whether it be in a lie or in marriage. The fact
that Lydia says things like this is interesting because while her character is saying it, Smollett is the
one writing it. With this single line he makes women out to be sneaky and conniving creatures, and
through this, wholly disrespectable. Now, Lydia isn t portrayed to be this way, so it brings up not only
the question of class but the question of education as being a factor. Lydia is a high classed woman
with an education, so she is made to be better than Tabitha who is of the same class, however with less
education. Therefore, it implies that class isn t a factor in how women act, but their amount of
education. Something else Smollett expresses is that women are not strong willed and easy to sway.
After Humphry apologizes in nicer clothing for accidentally exposing his bare bottom to Tabitha, Jery
observes this compliment and humiliation had some effect upon Tabby (97). Tabitha is so easily
swayed by a man of good appearance that she is made out to be simple minded. In the end of the

The Presidential Election Of 1984
The United States presidential election of 1984 was the 50th quadrennial presidential election. It was
held on Tuesday, November 6, 1984. The presidential race was between the incumbent Republican
candidate, President Ronald Reagan, and former Vice President Democratic candidate, Walter
Mondale. Reagan was helped in the election by a strong economic recovery from the deep recession of
1981 1982. Reagan carried 49 of the 50 states, becoming only the second presidential candidate to do
so after Richard Nixon s victory in the 1972 presidential election. Mondale s only electoral votes came
from the District of Columbia, which has always been considered a Democratic guarantee, and his
home state of Minnesota which he won by a mere 3761 votes, meaning Reagan came within 3800
votes of winning all fifty states. Reagan s 525 electoral votes (out of 538) is the highest total ever
received by a presidential candidate. Mondale s 13 electoral votes is also the 2nd fewest ever received
by a second place candidate, second only to lf Landon s 8 in 1936. In the national popular vote,
Reagan received 58.8% to Mondale s 40.6% (2016, 270towin.com)
For a long period, candidates running for President of the United States often have what s called a

voters would choose them as their president elect. Technology has played a key role in doing that for
past elections and current ones. During

An Analysis Of Inculpability In The Turn Of The Screw By...
Inculpability is the lack of culpability or corruption. Henry James was one of the main novelists
during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Many of his works were about European and
American people. The relationship between the governess and the children show us that she cares for
them as if they are her own. In the novel The Turn of the Screw, Henry James utilizes the main
character, the governess, to sacrifice her life; this does more damage than expected and shows how
inculpability can be corrupted. The novel The Turn of the Screw emerged in 1898. Once it was
published readers were frightened and it was kenned to be one of the most perturbing ghost stories
indited. Henry indited this novel during a low point in his life. The majority of his inditements were
about disjointing homes. Afore the final novel of The Turn of the Screw was published Henry revised
it several of times. Henry indited many plays during his vocation but never got any appreciation from
them. During this duration, many believed in ghost and spirituality. After the story of the Fox sister

Humanistic approach The humanistic approach is applied in counselling. There is a type of
counselling developed by Carl roger which consistrs in the counsellor help the service users develop a
positive sense of themselves. This is called the unconditional positive regard. This means that the
counsellor supports the service user s beliefs, emotions, and experiences without judging them
weather they believe the person was good or bad. If this is done frequently it will allow the service
user feel more positive about themselves and letting, go of the expectations they had of their own ideal

The Criminal Justice System Essay
The construction of the criminal the justice system composes of various agencies with explicit
procedures to control and diminish crimes along with, implementing penalties on those in violation of
the laws. During the seventeenth century, society and the criminal justice system focused primarily on
punishment than deterrence, and as society evolved, the criminal justice system manifested. The
criminal justice system was not as complex and intricate as it is today. Beginning with the founding of
our Country, the creation of the United States Constitution, our government has created substantial
amounts of legislative materials, including, laws and regulations, to ensure due process and minimize
criminal acts and behaviors. Our government has looked to all the local and state officials, in joining
forces to reduce crime in our states and cities.
Law enforcement agencies are our first line of defense in protecting society from the effects of crime.
Numerous strategies law enforcement agencies utilize across the United States to control crime, some
demonstrated effectiveness while others were refuted or unsubstantiated. Controlling crime
encompasses a combination of strategies rather than a single strategy.

Theme Of Mangoes On The Maple Tree
Asserting the Diasporic Identity in Uma Parameswaran s Oeuvre
Amrutha T V
Guest Faculty
Sreekrishna College, Guruvayur
ABSTRACT: Uma Parameswaran is a versatile writer critic who has attempted to capture the trauma
and dilemma of the diasporic self. Drawing on her first hand knowledge of the white collar,
professional and academic diaspora in Canada, she attempts to voice their dilemmas and confusions,
and above all, their feeling of rootlessness, their fear that having been uprooted once, they will never
again be able to take root anywhere, despite their best efforts. The angst of the diaspora, striving to
retain their identity even as they struggle to assimilate and become one of them , forms the core of
Uma Parameswaran s oeuvre. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel Mangoes on the Maple Tree, the flooding of the Red and the Assiniboine that threatens
the peaceful life of Winnipeg, brings the community together and removes barriers in an
unprecedented way. Jayant is one of the young men who work tirelessly, shoulder to shoulder with the
others, to sandbag the river and divert the floodwaters. The waters of the river that threatens brown
and white alike, and endangers harmony, may perhaps be seen as a levelling and unifying force, and
thus becomes as sacred to the immigrant consciousness as the Ganga. The play Dear Deedi My Sister
concludes with the extract from Sapna s letter to her Deedi in India, We must build our temple here,
where the Assiniboine flows into the Red. And we shall bring Ganga, as Bhagirata did of old, to our
land, our Assiniboine, and here shall be groves where Uma shall dance with Parameswara (Sons 73).
Thus we have Parameswaran playing on the mythological overtones of her own name to reinforce her
notion of a unique diasporic Canadian identity, forged by those who have crossed the oceans, carrying
their own baggage of myths and beliefs, and confidently asserting their selfhood in a new land. Savitri

Yemen Conflict In The United States
Yemen is a nation that has spent more of its years in a state of conflict rather than peace. The Middle
Eastern nation, approximately the size of the state of California, has experienced all forms conflict to
include: interstate, intrastate, non state and one sided conflict (UCDP, 2016). In 1990, following
numerous conflicts, North and South Yemen finally unified. While the unification was peaceful,
animosity between sides remained under the surface. In 1994, a short civil war erupted only lasting
several months until the secession was terminated (UCDP, 2016). However, the national sentiments
remained, laying the foundation for civil war to reignite in even greater force in 2014. According to

The Yemen government has historically been weak, lacked in control, effectiveness and stability
(Mitchell, 2012). The nation is accustomed to all forms of conflict, particularly civil, making it more
likely for civil war to reoccur (DeRouen, 2015). The weak and transitional state of the government
provided rebel groups, in this particular instance, Ansaruallah, the opportunity to rebel against the
central government and ignite a civil war. While the opportunity was present for the rebellion to occur,
the underlying longstanding grievances with the government were arguably the primary factors
leading to the conflict. The Yemeni people have been impoverished, suffering from famine and water
shortages and lacking any economic stability (Laub, 2015). Yemenis do not receive adequate care or
protection from the government and therefore they look to the more powerful rebel groups within their
borders (Mitchell, 2012). These groups are able to gain in power due to territorial advantages,
recruitment of enraged and desperate citizens and lack of opposition against them (Fearon, 2012). At
the time of the governmental transition and the Arab Spring movement, protests were ongoing. The
Yemen government decided to strike out against protesters and killed over 40 civilians (UCDP, 2016).
This event, coupled with the previously outlined grievances

Attachment styles influence relational patterns between a married couple and their children. These
attachment relational patterns known as anxious, avoidant, and secure base styles are a product of the
interactions experienced in early childhood with their caregivers. It affects people s
intercommunication with others all through their life span. Individuals attachment style involves a
systematic pattern of relational assumptions, emotions, and behavior that develop from the subjective

occurs when healthy communication skills develop along with secure based attachment
characteristics, such as, humility, gratitude, and forgiveness of self and others. These characteristics
provide coping mechanisms that establish a positive self identity and healthy social interaction with
others. As the anxious and avoidant relational styles exercise these positive characteristics, in time,

A Report On The Harlem Hellfighters

Americans, which would have allowed for a model environment to work towards in the United States.
When the Harlem Hellfighters were turned over to the French Army, they helped to fight off and repel
the German offensive and to launch a counteroffensive. Alongside the French unit primarily
comprised of French Moroccans, the Harlem Hellfighters fought at Chateau Thierry and Belleau
Wood, spending about 191 days in combat, which was the longest duration of time any American unit
had spent in the field. . All told they spent 191 days in combat, longer than any other American unit in
the war. The Harlem Hellfighters were also the first American and the first Allied unit to reach the
Rhine. Colonel Hayward said the following about his Harlem Hellfighters: My men never retire, they
go forward or they die. In a letter to Emmett Scott, Colonel Hayward also wrote the following about
the Harlem Hellfighters: I have two battalions in the trenches of the first line and the third in relief at

The Punishment of Malvolio Essay
In Shakespeare s play, Twelfth Night, the characters endure the fruits of their foolishness at the end of
the play, but Malvolio endures a greater suffering and greater embarrassment than the rest of the
characters. This is not simply by chance or whimsy: but this is Shakespeare s stratification of the vices
that a person may take upon him or herself. With this stratification, Shakespeare allocates Malvolio s
vices of pride, usurping the social order, and dour temperament as the worst of character flaws, and
that is why Malvolio receives the harshest punishment. Before examining the punishment that
Malvolio endures, it is necessary to examine his flaws and offenses. His arrival in the play is with

Malvolio is treading the ground of criminal offense against a lord, who is also the cousin of his Lady.
Beyond the offense upon the higher strata of society, Malvolio is also demonstrating his dour
temperament in this scene which is also problematic. The importance of mirth and joviality is affirmed
throughout the play, and for some characters, their greatest virtue is the ability to enjoy and be
passionate for life. Malvolio stands in opposition to this with his protests and derision, and in the play
he is the only character that takes offense to other characters enjoying their lives. The hostile
environment he creates is important to note because it gives the other characters an impetus to deal
with his troublesome personality in order to enjoy their own pleasures and pursuits. The last encounter
where Malvolio extends his grievances is the second encounter with Sir Toby. Their encounter takes
place after Malvolio s pride is incensed by the false note of Olivia, so his actions go even further in
displaying his own ego and lack of regard for his superiors. Not only does he instruct Sir Toby and
Maria to, go hang yourselves, (III.iv.120) but he also claims that he is no longer of their, element
(III.iv.121). The implication is that he has ascended beyond Sir Toby and Maria, but that is merely the
delusion of his ego. In this scene he

Extreme Human Emotions are the Sole Product of Biological...
It has been claimed that human emotions are the sole product of biological functioning. The James
Lange Theory of Emotion (1884) proposes that there are three components of emotions which can be
attributed to the automatic nervous system (ANS). The three components are Cognition (appraisal of
the event), Action (Fight or flight) and Feeling (Aspect of the emotion). Here we see that a biological
attribution of emotion has been in place since the 1800s and has been common knowledge for some
time. This essay will assess and examine evidence that has been provided to support the idea that
emotions are the product of biology.

Emotional Memory also exists which isn t conscious (Claparede, 1911). When studying patients with
amnesia, it was found Claparede would introduce himself to a patient every day and she would not
remember ever meeting him previously. He began to hold a pin when shaking hands with her which
would cause her pain. Although the woman could not remember the man each day, she began to refuse
to shake his hand due to fear of being hurt. This showed that the patient could not form new memories
but the brain can ensure that the systems related to fear can override cognitive processing when
encountering a threat.
As we can see, the brain plays a strong role in producing fear responses. Additionally, there are
physical indicators of fear too. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the fight or flight
affect producing increased heart rate and breathing. This in turn produces behavioural and
psychological responses such as feeling fearful and changes in facial expression. These biological
responses are caused by information within the brain which strongly suggests that fear is a product of
biological functioning.
Another important human emotion to look at is anger which is essential for communication and
responding to threats. Deffenberger (2002) defines anger as coping resources that are available to the
individual. When studying the brain, the amygdala is active in related to anger. Dopamine and

One thing that you will have to think about is the kind of device that runs your vacuum pump. Just like
everything you will find benefits and drawbacks. Let us have a look at a few of the different products
you can buy to operate your vacuum pump.
Among the products is definitely an ejector. This is among the easiest and generally utilized as

the motive fluid into velocity energy because it flows via a usual small nozzle. Ejectors use various
sorts of motive fluid. Steam is among the most typical liquids. A few of the pros ... Show more content

be the epitome of simplicity and employ centrifugal pressure to maneuver liquids through piping
systems.
A centrifugal pump converts primer mover s energy into kinetic energy and subsequently this kinetic
energy is changed into pressure energy from the fluid being pumped. It offers an impeller having a
central eye by which the fluid makes its way into the pump. Our prime speed impeller speeds up the
fluid radially outward in the pump chasing after. This boosts the fluid pressure and therefore will get
pressed from the pump right into a pipe to carry on its flow.

Persuasive Essay On Turtles
They say you can get seven different kinds of meat from butchering a turtle. Depending on what part
of the turtle you re chewing on, the taste may be reminiscent of pork, or chicken, or veal, or fish, or
whatever ... you get the picture. Perhaps this variability can partly explain why turtle has been such a
popular menu item throughout the history of the United States. At least, it used to be. Not so long ago
you could find Campbell s turtle soup sitting alongside minestrone and tomato in grocery stores
throughout the country. So what happened? How and why did an American staple virtually vanish?
ADVERTISING
It s a question Saveur magazine recently tried to tackle. Now, if you ask me or anyone else who knows
much about turtles and turtle conservation, the answer is quite simple: There are not enough turtles left
to eat. For example, a picture of a few chefs hovering over the carcass of a green sea turtle (Chelonia
mydas) leads off the Saveur article. Today green sea turtles, like all other species of sea turtles, are
federally protected under the Endangered Species Act. If you ate one in the United States, you would
be committing a felony.
Turtles are one of the most imperiled groups of animals on the planet. Habitat loss is probably their
biggest threat; when a wetland is drained, a field paved over, or a nesting beach overrun with
condominiums, there is simply no space left for turtles. But harvesting too many for food has played a
key role in driving down turtle

Speed Limits, Road Conditions And Driving Habits
How and why has speed become the number one cause of death to our children and a contributing
factor for many of our older citizens? Speed has become such an epidemic among our teenagers that
government agencies such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) now publish records and statistics
yearly. During the course of this paper we will review accident statistics, speed limits, road conditions
and driving habits which are the leading causes of speeding. Even though speed is not the main factor
for vehicle fatalities, speed is dangerous resulting in accidents and influencing many fatalities.
Additionally, the information provided will examine some of the tools provided by law enforcement
and the policies of many insurance companies today to help deter speeders and prevent automotive
fatalities.
Today in the United States and in many other countries vehicle safety is paramount. In Fact, many of
the automotive manufacturers have spent countless hours trying to exercise immense detail to vehicle
safety, and the development to safety devices such as air bags, crumple zones, and frame and body
technology. Fortunately, for drivers, these manufacturers have created real life accident scenarios
which cover everything from rollovers, to frontal impacts, side impacts, and rear impacts. However,
these manufacturers have yet to figure out how to create safety devices that can reduce speed related
accidents, and fatalities. Ultimately, many of the vehicles built by the automotive

a huge amount of symbolism to reflect society of the outer world with the island. Symbols of fire, the
conch and water are described all throughout the novel. Fire represents hope, strength and knowledge,
but it also represents disorder and destruction, switching from good and useful to evil and

Rain generates tension and also influences the kids to take bad decisions and act by their instincts.
Ralph dislikes rain; he stated he didn t like clouds, because it reminded him of the day the landed on
the island. Rain is a symbol of tension and discomfort, because kids feel strange when the rain falls of
they re reminded of it, for example, in the second chapter, when Piggy shouts to the kids because they
ran straight to make the fire instead of thinking in shelters. Finally, during Simon s death scene,
waterfalls of rain descended from the clouds, generating even more tension. This tension generated
Simon s death, and the kids negating they participated. Symbols are necessary to understand Lord of
the Flies, because the author makes a complex description of society and human nature, reflecting it in
symbols and characters. The conch represents democracy, and the civilized part of human nature; the
fire represents power and destruction, and the savage part of human nature; and finally water, that
represents an intermediate state. Personally, Lord of the flies is a novel I wouldn t have understood
completely if it weren t for the classes dedicated to analyze the book and it secret meanings and

  • 2. The Piano Lesson Is A Play That Was Written By August Wilson. The Piano Lesson is a play that was written by August Wilson. The story is used in a collection of plays by Wilson to show the struggles of African Americans throughout the twentieth century The story takes place in 1937 Pittsburgh with an African American family that battle within themselves on whether or not to keep a family heirloom, a carved piano. Wilson hits hot points of the past and today with his view on civil rights and the power of death. In The Piano Lesson is a tool that allows the reader to see that August Wilson wants to address that death should not be feared, all races should be held to the same standard, and that woman should be allowed to express themselves without the oppression of men. Had he not overcome death previously Willie would have suffered the consequences. He is able to live another day because of the fact that he is not afraid to die. Racial tensions still have a large impact on modern society that need to be changed so that all are considered equal. Wilson starts by pointing out the racial inadequacies in society using the scene where Lymon and Boy Willie go to collect their wood, Me [Lymon] and Boy Willie got away but the sheriff got us. Say we was stealing wood. They shot me in my stomach (Wilson 37). The police assume because the men are black that they are stealing the wood. Discrimination, in the end, is the long build up of misunderstandings between people who at first glance seem to be unsimilar. This is shown by the incident with the wood. The police believe that Boy Willie and Lymon are stealing the wood, even though they were given permission to take some of the wood for themselves. By assuming that they are thieves, they draw a line between blacks and whites. They then spread this assumption to others who conclude the same thing which further strengthens the division. This leads to entire populations hating other populations from one misunderstanding. Hatred carries influence, and hatred is a powerful tool that Wilson shows that the whites dominate. For example, And he go and fix it with the law that them is his berries. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Washington Central knew they did not meet the award criteria with 2 instructors having no masters degree and was hoping the low bid would compensate. Also engineers with bachelors command less compensation that engineers with masters. b. All their trainers were permanent employees working in DC and its possible that if they did not get this contract they may become idle resources on the payroll. 3. The proposal of Washington Independents is $39,286 less than the Government estimate. What factors do you think affect this difference? The government may have estimated significant travel and lodging expenses for the instructors. But the instructors at Washington Independents were all within 15 miles of each training location. This significantly reduced travel expense e.g rental cars, airfares, and possibly eliminated additional lodging expenses e.g hotels. 4. Los Angeles Quality has the highest proposed price. What factors do you think affect this difference? The 11 instructors that need to travel from LA to DC is a significant factor affecting the price. • 5. Jeep Research Paper Personal Question Why do I keep my Jeep when it keeps breaking down on me? That is the question that I have asked myself multiple times over the summer. To this day, I have put more time, effort and money into my Jeep than it is actually worth. So why continue to restore this beautifully ancient beast? Well, the answer is actually very simple; I love working on it. When I was first told that I was getting an automobile, I expected to go out and hand pick one that I deemed suitable for my everyday tasks. To my surprise, my father pretty much narrowed the selection process down for me, providing me with a specific list of Craigslist adds that he had compiled during his work day. After browsing this selection, I had settled on a 1987 light blue Jeep Wrangler, with a soft top and a sport roll cage. This jeep came with the legendary fuel injected 4.0 Liter, 6 cylinder engine, aptly nicknamed the Tank , due to its sturdy construction of cast iron. The fact that we found this jeep for under five thousand dollars was astonishing to me, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity presented to me. Initially established due to nationwide Temperance movements stating that banning alcohol would decrease crime, however the banning of alcohol led to increased organized crime. Organized crime in America grew during Prohibition due to the mafia, gangs and the mob utilizing the public demand for alcohol for their own economic gain, bootlegging alcohol, using extortion and violence, all in is larger quantities than was present before the 18th Amendment was passed. In the wake of the 2010 earthquake and the subsequent cholera outbreak, Haiti needed aid organizations more than ever, so much so that the aid community unintentionally gained political power. Recently, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stalled an economic aid package bound for Haiti due to the postponement of elections. The IMF did not think it was prudent to disburse aid to an interim government with little to no experience expending aid and the World Bank and the Inter American Dialogue Bank have taken similar stances. Nietzsche s Accomplishments From the ages of 14 to 19 (1858 1864), Nietzsche attended a first rate boarding school, Schulpforta, located about 4km from his home in Naumburg, where he prepared for university studies. The school s rigid educational atmosphere was reflected in its long history as a former Cistercian monastery (1137 1540), with buildings that included a 12th century Romanesque chapel and a 13th century Gothic church. At Schulpforta a school whose alumnae included the German Idealist philosopher, Johann Gottlieb Fichte (1762 1814) Nietzsche met his lifelong acquaintance, Paul Deussen (1845 1919), who was confirmed at Nietzsche s side in 1861, and who was to become an Orientalist, historian of philosophy, and in 1911, the founder of the Schopenhauer Society. ... Schopenhauer s atheistic and turbulent vision of the world, in conjunction with his highest praise of music as an art form, captured Nietzsche s imagination, and the extent to which the cadaverous perfume of Schopenhauer s world view continued to permeate Nietzsche s mature thought remains a matter of scholarly debate. After discovering Schopenhauer, Nietzsche read F.A. One instance where Lydia does this is when she says I have seen enough to believe, that our sex in general make it their business to ensnare others (289). Not only is Lydia basically saying that all women are nosy busybodies, but that they use that quality to catch others whether it be in a lie or in marriage. The fact that Lydia says things like this is interesting because while her character is saying it, Smollett is the one writing it. With this single line he makes women out to be sneaky and conniving creatures, and through this, wholly disrespectable. Now, Lydia isn t portrayed to be this way, so it brings up not only the question of class but the question of education as being a factor. Lydia is a high classed woman with an education, so she is made to be better than Tabitha who is of the same class, however with less education. Therefore, it implies that class isn t a factor in how women act, but their amount of education. Something else Smollett expresses is that women are not strong willed and easy to sway. After Humphry apologizes in nicer clothing for accidentally exposing his bare bottom to Tabitha, Jery observes this compliment and humiliation had some effect upon Tabby (97). This showed that the patient could not form new memories but the brain can ensure that the systems related to fear can override cognitive processing when encountering a threat. As we can see, the brain plays a strong role in producing fear responses. Additionally, there are physical indicators of fear too. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the fight or flight affect producing increased heart rate and breathing. This in turn produces behavioural and psychological responses such as feeling fearful and changes in facial expression. These biological responses are caused by information within the brain which strongly suggests that fear is a product of biological functioning. Another important human emotion to look at is anger which is essential for communication and responding to threats. Deffenberger (2002) defines anger as coping resources that are available to the individual. When studying the brain, the amygdala is active in related to anger. Dopamine and adrenaline are ... • 31. Paper Towel Experiment Essay This experiment was conducted at Horry Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina, on January 30, 2018. Each group conducted two experiments to determine the strength and absorbency of Great Value Brand paper towels and Sparkle. To test the strength of each paper towel brand, metal weights (each measuring 28.88g) were placed onto the center of the paper towel after it was wet with 10mL of water. Both paper towel brands were lifted off the table surface with various weights until the paper towel ripped. The data recorded in grams is placed on a table (Figure ) for each group so that the experiment is completed and recorded a total of six times. The independent variable for this experiment is the brand of paper towels which is Great Value ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To test the absorbency of each of the paper towel brands they were folded into 6th s and placed into a 250 mL glass beaker containing 100 mL of tap water (H20). Each of the paper towel brands absorbed water in the beaker for 30 seconds and were lifted from the water for 30 seconds so that the excess water may drop off. The tap water remaining was later poured back into the 100mL to measure the paper towel absorbency. To get the total amount of tap water (H20) absorbed, the formula used was 100mL X mL = Absorbency mL. The independent variable for this experiment is the brand of paper towels which is Great Value Brand and Sparkle. The dependent variable is the amount of tap water (H20) absorbed of the 100mL of tap water (H20). For this experiment the controlled variable is the amount of tap water (100mL) placed into the 250mL glass beaker, as well as the size of the paper towels ( ) . Other control variables would be the amount of time the paper towel was placed into the tap water (30 seconds) as well as the amount of time it was left to drip (also 30 seconds). There s no special method of doing it so it s simple for anybody. Because of not getting moving parts and as being a simple design you can easily repair and incredibly low maintenance. Pumps are generally experienced in industries essentially for his or her smooth operation and change in liquids in one point to the other. Centrifugal pumps are multi purpose pumps appropriate for a variety of different programs demanding reliable and price effective functioning. These pumps would be the epitome of simplicity and employ centrifugal pressure to maneuver liquids through piping systems. A centrifugal pump converts primer mover s energy into kinetic energy and subsequently this kinetic energy is changed into pressure energy from the fluid being pumped. It offers an impeller having a central eye by which the fluid makes its way into the pump. Our prime speed impeller speeds up the fluid radially outward in the pump chasing after. This boosts the fluid pressure and therefore will get pressed from the pump right into a pipe to carry on its flow. A few of the benefits of a liquid ring pump for any vacuum pump ... • 33. Persuasive Essay On Turtles They say you can get seven different kinds of meat from butchering a turtle. Depending on what part of the turtle you re chewing on, the taste may be reminiscent of pork, or chicken, or veal, or fish, or whatever ... you get the picture. Perhaps this variability can partly explain why turtle has been such a popular menu item throughout the history of the United States. At least, it used to be. Not so long ago you could find Campbell s turtle soup sitting alongside minestrone and tomato in grocery stores throughout the country. So what happened? How and why did an American staple virtually vanish? ADVERTISING It s a question Saveur magazine recently tried to tackle. Now, if you ask me or anyone else who knows much about turtles and turtle conservation, the answer is quite simple: There are not enough turtles left to eat. For example, a picture of a few chefs hovering over the carcass of a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) leads off the Saveur article. Today green sea turtles, like all other species of sea turtles, are federally protected under the Endangered Species Act. If you ate one in the United States, you would be committing a felony. Turtles are one of the most imperiled groups of animals on the planet. Habitat loss is probably their biggest threat; when a wetland is drained, a field paved over, or a nesting beach overrun with condominiums, there is simply no space left for turtles. But harvesting too many for food has played a key role in driving down turtle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chesterton, We are all in the same boat, in a stormy sea, and we owe each other a terrible loyalty. The author, William Golding, uses a huge amount of symbolism to reflect society of the outer world with the island. Symbols of fire, the conch and water are described all throughout the novel. Finally, during Simon s death scene, waterfalls of rain descended from the clouds, generating even more tension. This tension generated Simon s death, and the kids negating they participated.
