Pablo Escobar Thesis
Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar s ambition and ruthlessness made him one of the wealthiest, most
powerful and most violent criminals of all time (Biography, 2017).
Pablo Escobar was a smart and powerful man who became rich by being a drug dealer and his drug
interest was cocaine. His first rodeo where he got his hustling training from trafficking and smuggling
cigarettes and committing other little petty crimes. Escobar had only been arrested for possession of
drugs one time in his whole entire life when he was in his mid 20 s. He was a husband, father, wealthy

Rumor has it that the original boss, Fabio Restrepo, of the Medellin Cartel was murdered which led

The History of Bowling
The sport of bowling has a lengthy history packed with an evolution that has comprehensive rules; and
is an indoor activity that has become one of the most popular sports in the world. It can easily be said
that over 50% of Americans have bowled once in their lifetime, whether it was for a birthday party or
on a date. However, many people bowl routinely without knowing anything about the interesting
history of the game.
Oddly, one of the newest of professional sports, bowling is one of the most ancient. In one form or
another bowling has been around for more than 7,000 and years. First traces of the sport were
discovered in Egyptian tombs, but historians feel that cavemen may well have had been the originator.

From a few hundred league bowlers in 1895, the ABC now reaches some 5 million male bowlers and
10,000 tournaments, and certifies more than 140,000 lanes in 10,000 bowling centers today. The
distaffers organized the Women s International Bowling Congress (WIBC) in 1916 with some 40
members, that small number has now surpassed 3 million. (Pezzano 17)
Thanks to the ABC and the WIBC the rules of the game are well defined. Everyone can compete with
everyone else because the lanes, balls, and rules are standardized and many systems of handicapping
have been developed. (Pezzano 18)
Bowling received its greatest boost with the invention of the automatic pin setter. It was a big step in
allowing the businessmen of the game, the bowling alley owner, to remodernize both their alley and
thinking. Bowling became a complete family sport with modern, efficient equipment available at all
times for men, women, and children. (Pezzano 18)
In practically all surveys taken in the early 1970 s, bowling had reached the point where it rated only
behind football, baseball, and basketball, not only as the most popular but as the sport people like to
follow most. However, bowling has long been the number one participant sport. There are bowling
lanes in basements of private

The Aging American Population Essay
The Aging American Population The American population has changed dramatically over the last
century. Our society has become effected by this in all areas and walks of life. It is unknown what the
future holds for America, but the statistical trends in an aging population may shed some light. The
rate of aging in the United States will increase dramatically in the second and subsequent decades of
the century. Within the United States, the size of the population over age 65 has soared during this
century, increasing from 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though average length of hospital stays has decreased for those over 65, their visits to physicians are
over twice as frequent as those under 65. With increases in age, the intensity of using health care
resources increases: Those over 75, though only 5.5 percent of the total population in 1993, accounted
for 28 percent of all hospital days. At the same time, the caregiver population comprised of both the
elderly and non elderly will be impacted by these changes.
Aging is also an aspect of population dynamics that affects the level of poverty also. As fertility
declines and the population ages, traditional family based systems for providing old age care may
weaken, leaving the elderly vulnerable. The income security of older persons is a policy concern not
only in developed countries but increasingly as well in developing countries such as China that have
passed through the demographic transition. Between 2000 and 2050, the proportion of the population
aged 65 and older will have doubled in most developing regions. This exponential increase in the
aging populous could leave that generation drastically vulnerable. Not only would the health standard
be effected but also the income producing majority. Forecasts show that policy makers must address
the impact of our aging population in the next decade to stay ahead of the demand on resources
required by a population

David Keys Catastrophe
In his book Catastrophe: An Investigation Into the Origins of the Modern World, David Keys states
that a volcano that later became Krakatoa erupted in 535 A.D, and that the ash kicked up into the
atmosphere by the eruption caused a climate crisis that ultimately had massive geopolitical and
religious consequences. Keys attributes more or less everything that happened in the sixth century to
this climate crisis. Many of his points are quite convincing, but some of his most crucial points are not
well substantiated. This weakens both Keys conclusion and the book as a whole. Ultimately,
Catastrophe has many subpar arguments among a few good ones.
Keys starts off the book by arguing that the plague epidemic in the 6th century came from the climate

For instance, the one point that connects the Turks victory over the Avars to the climate crisis, the fact
about cows and horses, is merely author speculation, presumably based . There is no historical
evidence that the Turks victory over the Avars is in any way connected to the climate crisis, meaning
that the many parts of Keys main argument mainly connected to the climate crisis by the Turks victory
over the Avars are invalidated. Keys also uses suspect evidence in other sections. For instance, the
evidence in Keys section about Mesoamerica is mainly archeological, due to Mesoamerican cultures
having little in the way of written history, so the points made should be broad and vague. However,
Keys goes into way more detail than he should, and justifies it only by using an excess of words like
must have, making him sound at times like a conspiracy theorist. Indeed, good evidence is few and far
between in the Mesoamerican section, which probably should have been left out. The bind Keys has
put himself into here is that, in order to prove his theory that a proto Krakatoa erupted, he must prove
that the climate crisis affected most of the globe. His other evidence, which consists of reports of two
lightning like booms and a single Javanese myth, doesn t cut it. This means that ultimately, he goes for
quality over quantity, sometimes seemingly making stuff up to prove his theories or enhance

Methodology
A. Hydrolysis of Acid Derivatives
A.1. Acyl Halides and Acetic Anhydrides
One mL of water was placed in each two test tubes. The samples, acetyl chloride and acetic anhydride,
were added separately to the test tubes by placing ten drops of each sample. A warming effect was
noted from the reaction. The resulting mixtures were divided into two portions. To the first portion, an
amount of one mL of 2% silver nitrate (AgNO3) was added. The formation of precipitate was
observed. To the second portion, one mL of saturated sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and the
evolution of gas was noted.
A. 2. Esters
To one mL of the sample, ethyl acetate, two mL of 25% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was added. The
mouth of the test tube was covered with a marble and was heated in a boiling water bath for five
minutes. The mixture was neutralized with 10% HCl solution. The odor was observed with a wafting
motion.
A. 3. Amides
One mL of benzamide was treated with five mL of 10% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and was heated to
boiling afterwards. The reaction of the gas evolved during heating was tested by placing a piece of
moist red litmus paper over the test tube. The observed reaction was noted.

Purpose Of The Sugar Act And The Stamp Act
The Sugar act and the Stamp act were two British laws that were passed by the British Parliament. The
sugar act was passed in the year of 1764 and in 1765, a year later the Stamp act was passed. Both of
these laws, the Stamp Act and the Sugar Act were created to raise a revenue for the British. The Stamp
Act was passed by the British Parliament and it meant that all taxes were imposed on all of the
American colonists. The Stamp Act was being targeted to regulating trade and commerce. The Stamp
Act required that all of the American Colonist pay tax on every printed paper that was being used.
Printed paper included things such as legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and even playing cards
to all be taxed. The tax money that was being collected by the Stamp Act was all being used to help
pay for the 10,000 troops that were to be located on the American frontier by Appalachian Mountain.

called it themselves. When they gave some but kept most for them they called it cooperation. When
they gave an equal amount of point between themselves and their partner they called it egalitarian.
The study found people of lower class were more egalitarian believing in equality, thus giving an
equal number of points between themselves and their partners. For the last study participants were told
by the instructor that he was waiting for the participant s partner to arrive. The participants were told
they would complete a joint task with their partner followed by sets of individual tasks for different
research departments. While waiting for their partner they were instructed to do an individual task and
watch a short video clip. The first group watched forty six seconds video of children in poverty. The
second group watched forty six seconds of the movie All the Presidents Men of two men quietly
talking in the courtroom. After watching the video they were asked to fill out a questionnaire about
compassion. While filling out the questionnaire the confederate partner would come in apologizing for
being late. Test found that people are more distress with the confederate after watching a distressful
video clip than those watching the neutral clip. The next day they were to choose nine tasks to do

Lorde s Writing Style
With the alternative music scene mainly dominated by guitar wielding male artists who bear similar

Yelich O Connor. The New Zealand native singer songwriter, who is more recently known as Lorde

According to a Clash Music article, Lorde s songs do not rely on open letters, open legs, or twerking.

Advantages Of Multilevel Inverter
CHAPTER 3
MULTILEVEL INVERTER TOPOLOGIES AND CONTROL SCHEME
3.1. Multilevel Inverter
Multilevel inverters have ability to generate low switching frequency high quality output waveforms
with several high voltages and higher power applications and the general structure of multilevel
converter is synthesizes a sinusoidal voltage from several level of voltages. The multilevel inverter has
overcome the limitations of conventional two level voltage converters. The advantages of multilevel
inverter are higher power quality, lower switching losses, low electromagnetic interference and higher
voltage capability.

Moreover, input node voltages and currents can be referred to the input terminal voltages of the
inverter with reference to ground point and the corresponding currents from each node of the
capacitors to the inverter respectively. As an example, input node (dc) currents by I_1,I_2 etc., and
input node (dc) voltages are designed by V_1,V_2, etc as shown in Figure 1a. V_a,V_b and V_c are
the root mean square (rms) values of line load voltages; I_a,I_b and I_c are the rms values of the line
load currents. Figure 3.1 a shows the schematic of a pole in a multilevel inverter where V_a indicates
an output phase voltage that can predicted at any voltage level depending on the selection of node (dc)
voltage V_1,V_2 etc. By connecting switch to one node at a time, one can easily obtain the desired
output. Figure 3.2 shows the typical output voltage of a five level inverter. The structure of multilevel
inverter must (1) have less switching devices as far as possible, (2) have capability of withstanding at
very high input voltage for high power applications, and (3) have lower switching frequency for each

Marketing Strategy Of Stealth Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Did you know that very day we are imprinted with marketing and we don t even realizing it!
Marketers are eager to find new ways on how to get into your subconscious to sell their product or
deliver their message. This is what is called Stealth Marketing . Stealth Marketing is any marketing
strategy that advertises to consumers without them knowing it. It is used in product placement,
celebrity endorsements, and ad agents.
PRODUCT PLACEMNET Product placement is practice in which manufacturers of goods or
providers of a service gain exposure by paying for them to be featured in movies and TV
programming. In the earlier days producers would approach companies to use their products in their
films. During production of E.T., Amblin Productions and Steven Spielberg approached Mars, Inc.
about a possible tie in between M M s and the film. For water reason, Mars said No to their
proposition. By declining this offer, Mars paved the way for Hershey s Reese s Pieces. Hershey agreed
to do a tie in between the movie and the candy after the film was released. A deal was contracted
wherein Hershey Foods agreed to promote E.T. with $1 million of advertising: in return, Hershey
could use E.T. in its own ads. (Mikkelson, 2011). The payoff was huge! Reese s Pieces saw a reported
65% jump in profits just two weeks after E.T. premiered.
Another example would be Risky Business, starring Tom Cruise. The Wayferer sunglasses that Tom
Cruise modeled in the movie were pretty

Stewardship As A Whole Function
Stewardship in Nursing
Andreas Munk
The concept of stewardship is an ongoing part of nursing. As defined by Merriam Webster dictionary,
stewardship is the activity or job of protecting and being responsible for something. In this case that
something corresponds to the nursing field as a whole. The concept of stewardship is not thought of as
often as it should be. Sometimes stewardship can be confused with religious meanings or often is
simply not a topic that is heavily weighted. However stewardship is indeed an intricate concept that is
vital for the overall success of nursing. I believe stewardship in nursing is the ability to improve,
enhance, and oversee the prosperity of how nursing as a whole functions. Stewardship entails many
areas of concern such as safety, increased autonomy from other health care professions, accreditation,
economics, and most importantly the overall needs of the patient. As nursing s future continues to
change, stewardship is vital in developing life long learning practices and ultimately shaping current
and future leaders. In order for standards of practice to support the future, nurse leaders demonstrating
stewardship must be able to collaborate to form innovative models of care delivery in order to best
serve the patient and work efficiently within the health care system. In this paper I will be discussing
what defines stewardship and why it is important in nursing. Next, current issues involving
stewardship in

The same concept similarly applies to photographs online and in electronic form. The section fails to
be clear on whether a person who acquires a copy of a digital photograph, for example by
downloading it from [a source on] the internet, [is] the owner of that copy (Smiers, 2005). Another
condition that is flawed is where the reproduction of an original photograph is prohibited if the person
uses the reproduced copy to make further reproductions. This allows a person to infringe copyright

apply in certain special cases..., not conflict with a normal exploitation of a work and do not
unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests of the author . Ultimately by reproducing the material
in a different form which copyright holders sell and license, without payment or permission in the first
place, the exception permits a person to effectively undertake in piracy. In order for section 47J to be

How Social Class Affects My Family Life And Education
We are shaped by society s structures, is the primary concept of the idea developed by C. Wright Mills
(Henslin). In this paper, I will demonstrate how my social class affected my family life and education.
World is composed of social stratification, a system which people are divided into layers based on
their property, power and prestige. This stratification labels people and causes them to think
accordingly within their own stratification. It can be expressed in four major groups as follows:
slavery, caste system, estate, and class. Though it can be described in slavery, caste system, and estate,
these are all old forms of social stratification that are not used commonly in the present. Therefore, my
paper will be focusing on the description of the class system.
In social stratification, class is the only system that approves social mobility. It is also a system that is
based on the physical possessions such as money and materials. Moreover, slass system is the system
that allowed me to think I can achieve upward social mobility. Therefore, I aim to be part of a higher
social class as I am currently a member of a working class, which is compsed of relatively unskilled
blue collar... [less secure jobs,] more routine, and more closely supervised [jobs],(Henslin 268). I
intend to achieve this goal by getting educated.

Relational Leadership Class Analysis
This class addressed vital issues impacting the business world from the position of a leader. It
explored the standards of relational leadership and how to create group and individual leadership skills
to influence lives groups and organizations. Content of the course included effective communications,
setting goals, decision making service leadership and many more leadership styles, and effective ways
to implement change. I covered some basic concepts that are important to personal skills development
and some leadership behaviors.
To me, a leader is somebody who exhibits exceptional devotion to his or her team, and is willing to do
whatever it takes to unite the team. A leader injects a feeling of positivity and guides others to achieve
predetermined goals. This leadership is the process in which a person influence a group (adherents) to
accomplish a shared objective. The objective is achieved by mutual affirmation and a cohesive
behavior. One of the end goals of leadership is to get results through others, and the method for
achieving this include the ability to develop goal oriented, cohesive groups. Since knowledge is power
naturally, for the individuals who trust power is the quintessence of leadership will presume that the
individuals who have more knowledge and insight will make great leaders. This is not generally
correct. I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In leadership, leaders get his power from his group members. He proceeds in this position at the
pleasure of members in his group collectively. The position of leadership exists in most settings
regardless of group size. For instance, a leader of national or universal standing has vast influence
over an expansive number of individuals while the influence of small group in a company is extremely
constrained. Both are leaders in their own right and satisfy our definition of

Analysis Of Mr. Bailey s Investment Portfolio
Introduction
The purpose of this final finance paper is to provide an analysis of Mr. Bailey s investment portfolio. I
will be discussing the investment risks and returns, diversification, and recommendations for his
current portfolio. This will be a detailed analysis based on his stocks, investment property, and
potential for expanding and/or modifying his portfolio. In addition, there will be sources provided to
support the analysis followed by a spirited and succinct supposition which recapitulates his existing
portfolio and any commendations to be made.
Investment Risks and Returns
From an initial evaluation, Mr. Bailey s investment portfolio appears to be in good standing. He has
five stock assets and in investment property which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding his previous case from module 6 with the stock portfolio returns, here is the chart: And the
chart as shown below (Heksagonas., 2013) using a simple portfolio calculator: The differences in risks
and total returns is evident from the charts above. Microsoft and Johnson Johnson, show the most
consistency with a return percentage, while Nike is high risk, high return, and Chipotle and Exxon
Mobil are low risk and low return types of stocks. Next, I will evaluate Mr. Bailey s diversification
analysis and potential for improvement.
Diversification
Mr. Bailey s investments appear to be exclusively domestic assets. With a wide variety of stocks
internationally available, he should consider expanding his portfolio based on the diversification
potential accessible to him. With the amount of monetary assets within the corporate bond market,
which is estimated to be around $7.5 trillion, there is plenty of return potential available for individual
U.S. investors. The study from the article, Portfolio Diversification and International Corporate Bonds
by Edith X. Liu, implies the minimal amount of invested assets U.S. investors have in the corporate
bond market. With the statistical evidence of over 80% risk reduction in this market, which were
observed exclusively during the crisis period, the return potential is obtainable for Mr. Bailey (Liu, E.
X., 2016, pp. 959 983).

Explain Why Can T Jesus Be A Good Man If He Is Not Divine
1. Why can t Jesus be a good man if He is not divine?
If Jesus is not divine, then He is not considered immortal, He is considered to be human and worldly.
Therefore, since He is considered to be human and worldly, then He can t live a perfect human life or
be considered a good man since He is human and not divine.
2. Why is the statement There are no absolutes self defeating?
This statement is self defeating because if there are no true right or wrongs, or black or whites, then
that is a no absolutes mentality. Therefore, you can t come to any absolute answers because everything
is gray and in between.
3. In your own words, describe Jesus claim to divinity.
Jesus often claimed to divinity by saying that He and God are one, and that if you have seen Him, then
you have seen the Father. He says that He is the way to everlasting life and that whoever believes in
Him will never die. By saying all of these things, Jesus is portraying how since God is divine and He
and God are one, then Jesus is therefore also divine.

Buddhism Origin
Origins Buddhism originated in the Ganges River Valley area in the late 6th century B.C.E. The
founder, Siddhartha Gautama, was born (ca. 563 B.C.E.) in a place called Lumbini near the
Himalayan foothills, and he began teaching around Benares (at Sarnath). The Buddha was a member
of the kshatriya caste who abandoned his privileged life to seek the meaning of life. In his early years,
he lived as a prince in his royal palace, but when Siddhartha was 29 years old, he retired to the forest
and followed a spiritual life of meditation. After six years, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi
Tree in Bodh Gaya, India.
Divinity/Afterlife
Deities: After the Buddha died, some perceived him as a God. However, that is not what Siddhartha
Gautama taught. Buddhism is sometimes called an atheistic religion, although some prefer non theistic
meaning that believing in gods really isn t the point.
Buddhism accepted the basic Hindu doctrines of reincarnation, karma, and the goal to escape the cycle
of death and rebirth.
Formula for salvation: Nirvana is the final goal of Buddhism. It is a transcendent state in which there
is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and
the cycle of death and rebirth.
Afterlife: They believe that one s status in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buddhism also brought new types of behavior: the practice of making offerings before images, forms
of seated meditation, rites of confession and consecration, and the new gesture of palms pressed

the Chinese language, such as its dependence on tones, were also sparked by studying the Indian
language, which involved Buddhist texts. Lastly, many beautiful Buddhist temples and paintings are
still admired

Music That Made The Movement
Music that Made the Movement
The United States is a country which was formed by the hard work of the First Nations people, the
British, and African Americans. Unfortunately, blacks were subjected to slavery. In the 1900 s blacks
were becoming more discontented, thus began the emergence of the civil rights movement. Along
with rallies and peaceful protests, music played a very important role in bringing change to a society
where white supremacy reigned. In addition to their efforts, jazz and blues artists also contributed to
the building of a strong America.
Four black teenagers were arrested in the town of Marion, Indiana in the early morning of August 7,

The mob then took Abram and dragged him to a large tree to be hanged. When he resisted, the

was hung next to Abram s. Miraculously, when the mob was preparing a fire to light under the bodies
of Thomas and Abram, a voice denied James involvement in the crime. He avoided his own hanging
and was brought back to prison.
The photographs of the two bodies hanging from the tree inspired Abel Meeropol, a teacher, to write
the poem and song Strange Fruit . In 1939, jazz singer Billie Holiday adapted the song into her set list.
With lyrics such as:
Southern trees bear strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
It gives the horrific imagery of the bodies hanging from the trees and glimpse of the life in picturesque
South. Holiday s performance of the song soon became a hallmark for the early civil rights
movements as she often became overcome with emotions as she performed the song each night.
Strange Fruit was the first significant protest in words and music, the first unmuted cry against racism
and is what many describe as the beginning of the civil rights movement.

Customer Lifetime Value
CUSTOMER LIFETIME VALUE: MARKETING MODELS AND APPLICATIONS Paul D. Berger
Nada I. Nasr ABSTRACT Customer lifetime value has been a mainstay concept in direct response
marketing for many years, and has been increasingly considered in the ļ¬eld of general marketing.
However, the vast majority of literature on the topic (a) has been dedicated to extolling its use as a
decisionmaking criterion; (b) has presented isolated numerical examples of its
calculation/determination; and (c) has considered it as part of the general discussions of proļ¬tability
and discussed its role in customer acquisition decisions and customer acquisition/retention trade offs.
There has been a dearth of general modeling of the topic. This paper presents a series of ... Show more

Determining or calculating CLV was done solely by considering speciļ¬c numerical cases. Researchers
considered a particular setting, with speciļ¬c input parameters, and computed CLV to use it in the
decision making problem prompting the CLV determination. In this paper, a systematic general
approach to the computation of CLV is offered. General mathematical models are provided to
calculate CLV in a variety of typical cases. The major contribution of this paper is that it is less
contextspeciļ¬c than previous discussions of CLV, and that it provides general mathematical
formulations of CLV, while additionally tying together the speciļ¬c assumptions underlying a
formulation and, indeed, the formulation. Though not exhaustive, the cases treated deal with the large
majority of typical practices. The choice of cases is based on both a systematic theoretical taxonomy
and on assumptions grounded in customer behavior. In addition to the introduction, this paper has four
sections. First, we introduce a general way to determine CLV. Second, we treat ļ¬ve general cases,
offering a mathematical model to compute CLV in each case. Each general case is followed by a
numerical example. Third, we discuss some managerial applications of the use of a general model of
CLV. As an illustration, we consider an example in which a general model of CLV is used to optimize
the allocation of a promotional budget between Acquisition and Retention. Finally, we offer

Social Benefits Of Video Games
Video games have been around since 1950s and have gone a long way from what they are today. They
are in no doubt a big part of our society and with doing so they have been criticized by many. Video
games come in different categories which include: action, racing, adventure, role playing, simulation,
strategy, and sports. The purpose of these games can be casual, serious, art, Christian, and educational.
You can play these games on different types of platforms as well to make it the gamers preference. In
today s society, it is common for one to play video games. Some people play causally and some play
professional to make money. Even though, video games are now mainstream, they are still being
stigmatized and it has been like that since the creation of them. Some people see video games as a
waste of time and that they are unproductive, but after being studied thoroughly by researchers that is
not true; video games are known to have benefits. It can help children with development and it can
help adults perform better at their job. It can also help people with different disorders. Video games
should not be stigmatized because of the advantages ranging from cognitive to social benefits for
children, people with disabilities, and adults. The social benefit that gaming has is a way to interact
better with others and allows for an alternative way to learn. Runescape, a well known Massive

Both Views on Criminal Disenfranchisement
The American Constitution, as outlined in the Preamble, boldly defines its purpose as We the People
(U.S. Constitution). Reasonableness suggests that the framers of the Constitution would provide
appropriate legislation enhancing the citizenship s right to actively participate in government via
public elections given such a definitive statement expanding on the power of the people. However,
American citizens do not possess a constitutionally protected right to vote. During the drafting period
of the Constitution, only white male property owners could vote, however, voting rights have
drastically changed throughout the history of the United States. Through amendments passed over the

Criminal disenfranchisement, while currently upheld by Supreme Court review, has a growing base of
supporters for the overturning of such exclusionary practices. In fact, according to a recent study, the
majority of the mass public, between 52 and 80 percent depending on the crime committed, vastly
supports the re enfranchisement of previously convicted felons not currently imprisoned (Manza,
Brooks, Uggen, 2003). State laws restricting the rights of a convicted felon to vote, even after
completing a penal sentence remain inconsistent, at best. The disparity between the states application
of the varying degrees of criminal disenfranchisement raises concerns over the validity of the actions
when affecting a federal voting right; the ability to vote in a federal election is being mandated by the
states, without direction, structure or federal oversight. When the Constitution was written, only white
male property owners (about 10 to 16 percent of the nation s population) had the right to vote (Crews,
2007). While over the past two centuries the perseverance and machinations of checks and balances of
power within the government have transformed the United States into a government by the people,
criminal disenfranchisement penalties remain vastly unchanged until recently due to power entrusted
to each state to govern its people. By the onset of the Civil War

Comparitive Flood Stories Essay
Comparitive Flood Stories Most comparisons between Genesis and ancient Creation or Flood stories
can be classified as comparative religious studies. They generally involve one text isolated from its
original historical context (e.g., the Babylonian creation myth Enuma Elish or the Flood tablet of the
Gilgamesh Epic) and one related biblical narrative. On the basis of currently available evidence, their
earliest known written form can be dated only to the first half of the first millenium B.C. William Shea
of Andrews University has pointed out that by using isolated, solitary Creation or Flood stories, that
we neglect a large amount of other literary critcism which can be very helpful to our understanding.

The Campaign, A Good And Positive Light
Identity As we created this campaign, we developed several themes, symbols, motives and values in
order to bring the project together and ensure the audience would receive it favorably, or in a
beneficial and positive light. In the campaign, there are two primary themes, the first of which is
recognition. In general, KULT is an unknown and ambiguous organization that needs to build a brand
or an image for itself among students. The second theme of the campaign is unity. KULT wants to be
seen as an organization that offers specific services and content to students who listen to the station or
work for it. The goal of the campaign, then, is to provide a unified message to the audience showing
exactly what KULT is, what it can do for students, and what it means to be involved. The message will
unify the student body by presenting these facts, creating a sense of understanding and interest in the
station. These two themes are carried out in several ways. Our motive is to bring students together in
recognizing and understanding KULT so they can not only enjoy it, but take advantage of it. Our
values are focused around those of KULT: offering something new and fun to benefit the panther
community in whatever ways they can and building a community in the station. We bring these
elements together with a symbol: a new logo for KULT. By tying these elements together and
promoting them through the message and new logo, people will have a better understanding of KULT

The Synthetic Methods Of Water Soluble Conjugated Polymers...
Water soluble conjugated polymers (WCPs) have wide application prospects in biological imaging,
diagnosis, and treatment areas. Currently, the synthetic methods of WCPs mainly include palladium
catalyzed coupling reactions (Suzuki, Heck, and Sonogashira), Wessling reaction, and FeCl3 catalyzed
oxidative polymerization. All these methods follow the step wise polymerization mechanism, which
has disadvantages such as uncontrollable molecular weights, wide molecular weight distribution,
difficult terminal groups functionalization, poor regio regularity (cannot guarantee head tail
connection), and the ability to form di block or multi block copolymers. Therefore, the WCPs
prepared by the above mentioned methods have a lot of drawbacks. For example, uncontrollable
molecular weight and wide molecular weight distribution lead to the uncontrollable and non uniform
particle sizes of WCPs or the nanoparticles derived from WCPs and biological molecules. Thus, new
polymerization methods are urgently needed to prepare controllable WCPs and solve the above
mentioned issues.
Kumada catalyst transfer polycondensation (KCTP) is a new but rapidly developing method with great
potential for the preparation of well defined conjugated polymers (CPs). At present, the KCTP method
has been commonly used to prepare alkyl substituted CPs. However, the alkyl substituted CPs have
been more widely used in areas including organic photovoltaic s, organic field effect transistors, and

term traditional territories does not only refer to a particular village site, but also to the areas
according to the N Djuka customary law which reaches to the upper Tapanahony river in the district of

community members living in other villages rather than Moiwana and its members in her judgment.
On the other hand community members of Moiwana living in French Guiana were also taken in

The Pros And Cons Of Voting
One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In 2011
Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have
helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every
four years during presidential elections the state and its residents can determine who will be the next
president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people
to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it
difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent
voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially
passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election
in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill
1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will
just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. When
registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws and comply with the process of registration.
Because each state has their own legislation and laws that their residents must follow, it crucial for
people to get some information on the state registration process in order to vote.

Firstly, the first three weeks in 4B I was unable to perform any treatment expect baby bath and taking
the vital signs. In the beginning I found that it is quite difficult to take the vital signs of the children

Also, I have learnt about the items in the per op check list, how the nurse do the checklist with the
patient. Additionally, I have known more about the post operation care for the patient with different
surgeries.
Furthermore, during the last three weeks of the practicum in E7 I have gain experience to observe
some procedures that are not usually done in the ward like removal of chest drainage and got chance
to learn how to interview the patient during admission although most of the patients are admitted for
the oesophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonscopy.
I think the interview during admission is quite difficult because it is an important method to
understand more about the patient discomfort and their background for example medical history,
surgical history, allergic, body condition. Moreover, as some of the patient might not tell the true
information as they might be nervous when admit to the hospital. The most difficult thing during the
nursing interview during admission is spelling the surgical the name and some of the terms for the
medical history. Therefore, it is important for me to improve the spelling of the medical and surgical

And Plant A losing production capacity will not change this fact. So only Plant B will increase its
production by 100 untis to make up the loss of capacity in Pant A. 2.The transportation costs for A to
region 1 and 2 are $1.50 and $2.10. The difference is $0.70. The transportation costs for Plant B to
region 1 and 2 are $2.35 and $3.55. The difference is $1.20. Since $1.20 gt;$0.70, Plant A will reduce
its production and shipment to region 1 by 100 untis and Plan B will produce $100 units more and
ship to region 1.
Problem b) 50 cents increase in unit transportation cost between plant A and region 2
Answer:
Production and shipment plan will not be changed because the allowable increase of objective
coefficient of from plant A to region 2 is 60 cents. The 50 cents change is within the limit so it will not
change the production and shipment plan. So it will only increase total cost by $450 as 900x$0.5.
Problem c)
Answer:
The additional revenue will cover the cost. The reasons are: First only Plant B has available capacity
to cover the 80 additional units. Second, 80 additional units is within the allowable increase range of
plan B so

Permo-Triassic Mass Extinction Essay
The Permo Triassic mass extinction: what died out
LIFE IN THE SEA
Fusulinid foraminifera disappeared completely, although other foram groups suffered much lower
levels of extinction. Palaeozoic corals (Rugosa and Tabulata) also vanished. Stenolaemate bryozoans
and articulate brachiopods suffered near complete extinction. The extant echinoderm groups all
experienced severe bottlenecks at this time: only two lineages of crinoids and echinoids made it into
the Mesozoic. Several echinoderm groups (e.g. Blastoidea) suffered complete extinction.
Fusilinid foraminifera (right) were unicellular animals, ranging in size from 0.1 8mm. Benthonic or
planktonic forms with a considerable disparity in morphology. Peaked in the Early Carboniferous,
already in prolonged decline throughout Permian, and the final 10% died out during the PTME.
The non fusilinid foraminifera (far right) included five suborders. The different suborders were
affected differently by the extinction: the Allogromiina are poorly known, the Textulariina lost a third
of genera; Miololina lost half of the genera; Lagenina and Involutina showed dramatic increase in post
extinction radiation. Sponges (Porifera), the basal animal group (left), composed of an internal
skeleton of spicules of calcite or silica, and forming reefs. There were ... Show more content on

theGoniatitida were the bulk of Permian ammonoids, but were in decline through the Permian, and all

Permian, and only just survived across the P T boundary, before dying out completely in the early
Triassic; and the Ceratitida diversified in the Permian, before being decimated by the extinction event,
and then reappearing in the Early Triassic, and radiating to become the dominant Triassic

Sociotechnical Systems and Management Styles Essay
Sociotechnical Systems and Management Styles In today s advanced technological workplace,
companies are looking into several new management styles and concepts. Among them is a theory
called sociotechnical systems (STS). This is a theory that has been around for about 50 years and is
still being attempted for use today. Many managers along with one member of the STS founding team,
Fred Emery, argue that STS is obsolete; other managers have implemented STS with great success.
With this new style of management practice, several changes will have to take place. These changes
along with several examples of both positive and negative effects will be examined throughout this
essay.
To introduce the STS theory and let the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basically these principles 1. Scan the environment looking for influences on social and technological
subsystems Causation 2. Implement effects to combat environmental changes Optimization and 3.
Design the effects to achieve implementation Design. The extent of these efforts often result in
complaints among many high level managers. Many managers wonder if all the required time will pay
off. Skeptical managers will often turn aside from this style of management.
Is STS Obsolete (Practical)?
Sociotechnical systems have been around for a long time now. Conventional STS has been integrated
into classroom instruction at the graduate level. While trying to do this, STS lost many of its unwritten
detailed subject matter and has been made conceptually complicated as well as mathematically
complex.3 Another problem that Fred Emery states in his article is the overselling of STS. The
pressures for STS to work by itself have raised the theory at an extremely high standard waiting for
pitfalls in the process. Steve Canbana in his article on participative design states, Over the years it has
become apparent that traditional socio technical systems (STS) design contains a number of pitfalls
that frequently have led to implementation failure or partial success. 4 A third issue lies in problems

God In The Code Of Gilgamesh And The Hebrew Bible
God in The Hebrew Bible is quite difficult to span, often being quite incongruous in nature, as there
are ...odd contradictions and repetitions in the narrative... (The Hebrew Bible 151) especially in
relation to God. However, God is quite similar to the gods from The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Code
of Hammurabi as ...like the humans made in his image... [he is] ... willing to scheme and make deals...
(153). Specifically, in relation to The Code of Hammurabi, ...Moses goes to hear the word of God...
and the Ten Commandments are revealed to him (155), these commandments are ...rules of ethical and
religious conduct (155). The Ten Commandments, God s words, seem to be inspired, at least in part,
by Hammurabi s code, as they both seem to try to ...further the well being of mankind (The Code of
Hammurabi 1). Not only are God s words reminiscent of that of the deities in The Code of Hammurabi
and The Epic of Gilgamesh, God is also destructive in many ways, even excluding the great flood that
appears in both The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Hebrew Bible. God creates the serpent...most cunning
of all the beasts of the field... (The Hebrew Bible 160). The Hebrew Bible is riddled with common
themes and tropes. The broadest theme presented throughout the text is the role God plays in shaping
human lives... (152) and the resultant of the actions God takes as being the lesson. However, the role
God plays is not static, often the ...relation between human behavior and divine favor... (152) shifts

What s So Special About Disney Parks?
Photo of Mickey s Fun Wheel prior to the showing of World of Color.
Disneyland and California Adventure are great examples of how a space can bring together
individuals from all types of backgrounds. Disparate people, of all ages, are welcomed to visit Disney
parks to interact with each other while enjoying the same attractions and entertainment. According to
Joel Kotkin, great cities are safe so that people feel secure, are busy with commerce, and are sacred in
the sense that the space originated from religious structures. By this definition, Disneyland is
comparable to that of a city because it is a safe place where adults and children can visit. Additionally,
the park is extremely busy by operating year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
occurred on the Grizzly River Run Ride, where I met a nice couple visiting the park all the way from
Melbourne to celebrate their anniversary at Disney California Adventure. They had informed me that
there currently is no Disneyland in Australia. I suddenly realized that Disney theme parks in California
are prime tourist attractions to a majority of the world s population who do not have a Disneyland park
in their area. Up until this point, I did not perceive Disneyland as a tourist attraction because I have
lived near the park for all my life and was always accessible to it. Disney has marketed itself across
cultures, languages, and borders so that the brand is universal. This cultural spot has attracted a
significant population size and density to create a critical mass , or subculture, of Disney fans. This is
evident when one observes the variety of people from different corners of the world, all converging at
The Happiest Place on Earth . Walt Disney, the founder of the company, acknowledged the importance
of building his park near the Metropolitan area of Los Angeles and along the freeway to ensure that
the park would be accessible. Disparate people can now meet at theme parks, such as Disneyland, and
are able to converse about what it is that brought them to that space and

Interview From My Subculture Of People With Siblings Who...
One of the people who I chose to interview from my subculture of people with siblings who have
developmental disabilities is my roommate Hannah Dorough. Hannah and I had met briefly before
coming to school at various events through the University Honors Program before we truly introduced
ourselves at SOAR at the beginning of June. Since then, we have become close friends throughout our
time spent living together in our dorm room. I interviewed Hannah in our dorm room this past Sunday
after I got back to school from my weekend at home. We were sitting in the living space of our room
that we share with two other girls when I interviewed her about her five year old half sister named
Bethany, who has autism. Hannah sat on the arm of the couch while I sat on the couch cushions
because that is where we both prefer to sit, even when we are just hanging out around the room.
Hannah moved throughout the kitchen area and living space, as well as venturing into her room and
bathroom when she received a call from her boyfriend, Alex, during the interview. I, however,
remained in my spot on the couch for the interview s duration. I chose to interview Hannah in our
dorm room because the setting was comfortable for both of us because we live there. However, there
were a few distractions in our room because my other roommates and a few friends were over at the
same time, so they were having their own conversations at the same time. Despite these distractions, I
feel that our interview was

Disadvantages Of Borrowing Money
There are many times where it is simply a necessity to borrow money in order to finance important
needs. People often borrow in order to get a home, a vehicle or other important necessities of life.
There are many financial institutions out there whose sole function is to lend money to people who are
looking for loans. Borrowing money however can lend you in a lot of financial trouble if you are not
careful with it. Here, we have assembled some excellent tips that you can employ when looking to
borrow money in order to finance your activities.
Assess Your Needs
The most important tip when looking to borrow money especially for the first time is to properly
assess your needs and ensure that you are only borrowing money for a cause that is absolutely
important and relevant in your life. There are many desires that can wait a few years and you do not
need to burden yourself with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Borrowing money without giving thought to this information can be a recipe for disaster and you may
find yourself in trouble if you are not careful enough earlier.
There are many loan calculator websites out there that will allow you to compare the different ways
you can obtain and pay back a loan. Most loans are classified according to the way they are backed up
by either having a security or not. Secured loans such as mortgage loans are harder to obtain, but are
available at very low interest. They are paid back in quite a large number of years.
On the other hand, there are also credit card loans that you need to return as quickly as you can in
order to stay away from paying large amounts of interest on the borrowed sum. Borrowing money
through a payday loan remains the last option that you should avoid as much as you can because of
their dangerous financial conditions and high interest rates that apply on a daily basis.

The Philosophy Of Social Science Summary
The philosophy of social science is the branch of philosophy that involves examining concepts, the
methods, and the logic of the social sciences (Fay, 2016, P.1). Gordon (1991, P.2), defined social
science as using the scientific method to study human social behaviour. Therefore, this branch
analyses the cooperation of human beings with the aim of achieving objectives collectively rather than
individually. Furthermore, the philosophers of social science are concerned with the investigation of
the social science practices and the nature of human beings.
The purpose of this paper is to critically review Martin Hollis s, The Philosophy of Social Science.
The paper will analyse the author s objective regarding the book, the approach taken by the author, the
strength, and weaknesses of the book as well as what the readers might find useful from the book.
The author sets out to define and examine the explanation and understanding of the major theme in the
social world. The concept of understanding centers on a proposition that the social world preferably
ought to be understood from within rather than being explained from outside (Hollis, 2011, p.16).
The concept of holism and individualism is also addressed as a minor theme. Holism implies that
human beings are morally responsible for what they do and the most valued forms of political
organisation are determined socially and thus rest on illusion (Hollis, 2011, p.107). The concept of
individualism is defined from social

Digital Art And Its Impact On Contemporary Culture
Digital art is a discipline that brings together all artistic works created with or involving digital media.
This paper aims at addressing the various areas of research associated with the ideas of digital art,
starting from the history, through its various dimensions and demonstrations, working and
functionalities of computer, significant work in the area and ending with the emergence of various
ideas that surrounds this developing discipline.
The history of digital art, which can be more broadly referred to as electronic art, is not only written
whilst affected by the consolidation of the aesthetic and foundation that Stewart Brand claims for
contemporary culture, but also in the very acceptance of digital art by the institutions and curators of
the art world. It is a reality that digital art has remained in a transition for a considerable period of time
and has yet to be established as a proper discipline.
One of the earliest ancestors of digital art is the neo impressionist painter Seurat. He created a new
technique that has a resemblance to what later will become the pixels. A pixel is the smallest unit of a
computer image. On this point, the critic Donald Kuspit notes the effect Seurat had on impressionism
and especially later neo impressionism to pointillism and then to inspire pixels. However, striking
spots used by Manet are the primitive prototypes of mathematical sophistication of pixels. The next
crucial aspect in the development of this sensations is stating

  • 3. The History of Bowling The sport of bowling has a lengthy history packed with an evolution that has comprehensive rules; and is an indoor activity that has become one of the most popular sports in the world. It can easily be said that over 50% of Americans have bowled once in their lifetime, whether it was for a birthday party or on a date. However, many people bowl routinely without knowing anything about the interesting history of the game. Oddly, one of the newest of professional sports, bowling is one of the most ancient. In one form or another bowling has been around for more than 7,000 and years. First traces of the sport were discovered in Egyptian tombs, but historians feel that cavemen may well have had been the originator. Having the first form of ... (Pezzano 16) From a few hundred league bowlers in 1895, the ABC now reaches some 5 million male bowlers and 10,000 tournaments, and certifies more than 140,000 lanes in 10,000 bowling centers today. The distaffers organized the Women s International Bowling Congress (WIBC) in 1916 with some 40 members, that small number has now surpassed 3 million. (Pezzano 17) Thanks to the ABC and the WIBC the rules of the game are well defined. Everyone can compete with everyone else because the lanes, balls, and rules are standardized and many systems of handicapping have been developed. (Pezzano 18) Bowling received its greatest boost with the invention of the automatic pin setter. It was a big step in allowing the businessmen of the game, the bowling alley owner, to remodernize both their alley and thinking. Bowling became a complete family sport with modern, efficient equipment available at all times for men, women, and children. (Pezzano 18) In practically all surveys taken in the early 1970 s, bowling had reached the point where it rated only behind football, baseball, and basketball, not only as the most popular but as the sport people like to follow most. However, bowling has long been the number one participant sport. There are bowling lanes in basements of private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Aging American Population Essay The Aging American Population The American population has changed dramatically over the last century. Our society has become effected by this in all areas and walks of life. It is unknown what the future holds for America, but the statistical trends in an aging population may shed some light. The rate of aging in the United States will increase dramatically in the second and subsequent decades of the century. Within the United States, the size of the population over age 65 has soared during this century, increasing from 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though average length of hospital stays has decreased for those over 65, their visits to physicians are over twice as frequent as those under 65. With increases in age, the intensity of using health care resources increases: Those over 75, though only 5.5 percent of the total population in 1993, accounted for 28 percent of all hospital days. At the same time, the caregiver population comprised of both the elderly and non elderly will be impacted by these changes. Aging is also an aspect of population dynamics that affects the level of poverty also. As fertility declines and the population ages, traditional family based systems for providing old age care may weaken, leaving the elderly vulnerable. The income security of older persons is a policy concern not only in developed countries but increasingly as well in developing countries such as China that have passed through the demographic transition. Between 2000 and 2050, the proportion of the population aged 65 and older will have doubled in most developing regions. This exponential increase in the aging populous could leave that generation drastically vulnerable. Not only would the health standard be effected but also the income producing majority. Forecasts show that policy makers must address the impact of our aging population in the next decade to stay ahead of the demand on resources required by a population ... • 5. David Keys Catastrophe In his book Catastrophe: An Investigation Into the Origins of the Modern World, David Keys states that a volcano that later became Krakatoa erupted in 535 A.D, and that the ash kicked up into the atmosphere by the eruption caused a climate crisis that ultimately had massive geopolitical and religious consequences. Keys attributes more or less everything that happened in the sixth century to this climate crisis. Many of his points are quite convincing, but some of his most crucial points are not well substantiated. This weakens both Keys conclusion and the book as a whole. Ultimately, Catastrophe has many subpar arguments among a few good ones. Keys starts off the book by arguing that the plague epidemic in the 6th century came from the climate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the one point that connects the Turks victory over the Avars to the climate crisis, the fact about cows and horses, is merely author speculation, presumably based . There is no historical evidence that the Turks victory over the Avars is in any way connected to the climate crisis, meaning that the many parts of Keys main argument mainly connected to the climate crisis by the Turks victory over the Avars are invalidated. Keys also uses suspect evidence in other sections. For instance, the evidence in Keys section about Mesoamerica is mainly archeological, due to Mesoamerican cultures having little in the way of written history, so the points made should be broad and vague. However, Keys goes into way more detail than he should, and justifies it only by using an excess of words like must have, making him sound at times like a conspiracy theorist. Indeed, good evidence is few and far between in the Mesoamerican section, which probably should have been left out. The bind Keys has put himself into here is that, in order to prove his theory that a proto Krakatoa erupted, he must prove that the climate crisis affected most of the globe. His other evidence, which consists of reports of two lightning like booms and a single Javanese myth, doesn t cut it. This means that ultimately, he goes for quality over quantity, sometimes seemingly making stuff up to prove his theories or enhance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lorde s Writing Style With the alternative music scene mainly dominated by guitar wielding male artists who bear similar sounds and tunes, it is beyond refreshing to hear the unique melodies and mysterious tones of Ella Yelich O Connor. The New Zealand native singer songwriter, who is more recently known as Lorde has been compared to nineties alternative bands such as Mazzy Star and Portishead (Lipshutz, Jason). According to a Clash Music article, Lorde s songs do not rely on open letters, open legs, or twerking. During production of E.T., Amblin Productions and Steven Spielberg approached Mars, Inc. about a possible tie in between M M s and the film. For water reason, Mars said No to their proposition. By declining this offer, Mars paved the way for Hershey s Reese s Pieces. Hershey agreed to do a tie in between the movie and the candy after the film was released. A deal was contracted wherein Hershey Foods agreed to promote E.T. with $1 million of advertising: in return, Hershey could use E.T. in its own ads. (Mikkelson, 2011). The payoff was huge! • 15. Stewardship As A Whole Function Stewardship in Nursing Andreas Munk The concept of stewardship is an ongoing part of nursing. As defined by Merriam Webster dictionary, stewardship is the activity or job of protecting and being responsible for something. In this case that something corresponds to the nursing field as a whole. The concept of stewardship is not thought of as often as it should be. Sometimes stewardship can be confused with religious meanings or often is simply not a topic that is heavily weighted. However stewardship is indeed an intricate concept that is vital for the overall success of nursing. I believe stewardship in nursing is the ability to improve, enhance, and oversee the prosperity of how nursing as a whole functions. Stewardship entails many areas of concern such as safety, increased autonomy from other health care professions, accreditation, economics, and most importantly the overall needs of the patient. As nursing s future continues to change, stewardship is vital in developing life long learning practices and ultimately shaping current and future leaders. In order for standards of practice to support the future, nurse leaders demonstrating stewardship must be able to collaborate to form innovative models of care delivery in order to best serve the patient and work efficiently within the health care system. In this paper I will be discussing what defines stewardship and why it is important in nursing. Next, current issues involving stewardship in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this paper, I will demonstrate how my social class affected my family life and education. World is composed of social stratification, a system which people are divided into layers based on their property, power and prestige. This stratification labels people and causes them to think accordingly within their own stratification. It can be expressed in four major groups as follows: slavery, caste system, estate, and class. Though it can be described in slavery, caste system, and estate, these are all old forms of social stratification that are not used commonly in the present. Therefore, my paper will be focusing on the description of the class system. In social stratification, class is the only system that approves social mobility. Researchers considered a particular setting, with speciļ¬c input parameters, and computed CLV to use it in the decision making problem prompting the CLV determination. In this paper, a systematic general approach to the computation of CLV is offered. General mathematical models are provided to calculate CLV in a variety of typical cases. The major contribution of this paper is that it is less contextspeciļ¬c than previous discussions of CLV, and that it provides general mathematical formulations of CLV, while additionally tying together the speciļ¬c assumptions underlying a formulation and, indeed, the formulation. The CDC works with international public health organizations, and the travel industry to find sick travelers arriving to and from the United States and takes actions to prevent the further spread of diseases (CDC). This case got by the CDC due to the fact that the man was never exhibiting any signs of Ebola while in transit from Liberia to Dallas Texas (Burgess). This essentially gives a little bit of a loop hole to the security of the health of the United States citizens, but hospitals are taking the proper pre cautions with this patient by giving him a quarantine room with a ... • 36. The Synthetic Methods Of Water Soluble Conjugated Polymers... Water soluble conjugated polymers (WCPs) have wide application prospects in biological imaging, diagnosis, and treatment areas. Currently, the synthetic methods of WCPs mainly include palladium catalyzed coupling reactions (Suzuki, Heck, and Sonogashira), Wessling reaction, and FeCl3 catalyzed oxidative polymerization. All these methods follow the step wise polymerization mechanism, which has disadvantages such as uncontrollable molecular weights, wide molecular weight distribution, difficult terminal groups functionalization, poor regio regularity (cannot guarantee head tail connection), and the ability to form di block or multi block copolymers. Therefore, the WCPs prepared by the above mentioned methods have a lot of drawbacks. For example, uncontrollable molecular weight and wide molecular weight distribution lead to the uncontrollable and non uniform particle sizes of WCPs or the nanoparticles derived from WCPs and biological molecules. Thus, new polymerization methods are urgently needed to prepare controllable WCPs and solve the above mentioned issues. Kumada catalyst transfer polycondensation (KCTP) is a new but rapidly developing method with great potential for the preparation of well defined conjugated polymers (CPs). At present, the KCTP method has been commonly used to prepare alkyl substituted CPs. However, the alkyl substituted CPs have been more widely used in areas including organic photovoltaic s, organic field effect transistors, and organic light emitting ... During the Suriname Guerrilla War between 1986 and 1992 between the Jungle commando led by Ronnie Brunswijk and the Surinamese military team headed by Desi Bouterse, the human rights of the people who were living in the tribal communities in the district of Marowijne were consistently being violated. However a peace agreement had been signed in France Guiana in May 1992, the American Court of Human Rights sentenced the government of Suriname of committing actions against human rights and ordered the state to start an investigation to compensate the civilians of the massacre in the Moiwana village on November 29, 1986 in Marowijne (Inter American Court of Human Rights 2006). However the actions against human rights in this village draw much more attention, because of the killing of 39 community members, mostly women and children, in a search for the guerrilla leader Ronny Brunswijk. However taking the customary laws, usage, values and mores in consideration the term traditional territories does not only refer to a particular village site, but also to the areas according to the N Djuka customary law which reaches to the upper Tapanahony river in the district of Sipaliwini. Unfortunately, the Inter American Court of Human Rights did not include the N Djuka community members living in other villages rather than Moiwana and its members in her judgment. On the other hand community members of Moiwana living in French Guiana were also taken in consideration by the judgment. In August 2005 the government of Suriname was ordered to pay 13 million USD to 130 survivors and to establish a community fund (1.2 million USD) to enhance the development of Moiwana (Sloover 2005). The non compensated group or the left out group is in this case the communities who did not find justice yet after the maltreatment and killings of community members in the earlier mentioned guerrilla war. • 39. The Pros And Cons Of Voting One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In 2011 Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every four years during presidential elections the state and its residents can determine who will be the next president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill 1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. When registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws and comply with the process of registration. Because each state has their own legislation and laws that their residents must follow, it crucial for people to get some information on the state registration process in order to vote. In ... The extant echinoderm groups all experienced severe bottlenecks at this time: only two lineages of crinoids and echinoids made it into the Mesozoic. Among them is a theory called sociotechnical systems (STS). This is a theory that has been around for about 50 years and is still being attempted for use today. Many managers along with one member of the STS founding team, Fred Emery, argue that STS is obsolete; other managers have implemented STS with great success. Skeptical managers will often turn aside from this style of management. Is STS Obsolete (Practical)? Sociotechnical systems have been around for a long time now. Conventional STS has been integrated into classroom instruction at the graduate level. While trying to do this, STS lost many of its unwritten detailed subject matter and has been made conceptually complicated as well as mathematically complex.3 Another problem that Fred Emery states in his article is the overselling of STS. The pressures for STS to work by itself have raised the theory at an extremely high standard waiting for pitfalls in the process. Steve Canbana in his article on participative design states, Over the years it has become apparent that traditional socio technical systems (STS) design contains a number of pitfalls that frequently have led to implementation failure or partial success. 4 A third issue lies in problems with ... • 51. The Philosophy Of Social Science Summary The philosophy of social science is the branch of philosophy that involves examining concepts, the methods, and the logic of the social sciences (Fay, 2016, P.1). Gordon (1991, P.2), defined social science as using the scientific method to study human social behaviour. Therefore, this branch analyses the cooperation of human beings with the aim of achieving objectives collectively rather than individually. Furthermore, the philosophers of social science are concerned with the investigation of the social science practices and the nature of human beings. The purpose of this paper is to critically review Martin Hollis s, The Philosophy of Social Science. The paper will analyse the author s objective regarding the book, the approach taken by the author, the strength, and weaknesses of the book as well as what the readers might find useful from the book. The author sets out to define and examine the explanation and understanding of the major theme in the social world. The concept of understanding centers on a proposition that the social world preferably ought to be understood from within rather than being explained from outside (Hollis, 2011, p.16). The concept of holism and individualism is also addressed as a minor theme. Holism implies that human beings are morally responsible for what they do and the most valued forms of political organisation are determined socially and thus rest on illusion (Hollis, 2011, p.107). The history of digital art, which can be more broadly referred to as electronic art, is not only written whilst affected by the consolidation of the aesthetic and foundation that Stewart Brand claims for contemporary culture, but also in the very acceptance of digital art by the institutions and curators of the art world. It is a reality that digital art has remained in a transition for a considerable period of time and has yet to be established as a proper discipline. One of the earliest ancestors of digital art is the neo impressionist painter Seurat. He created a new technique that has a resemblance to what later will become the pixels. A pixel is the smallest unit of a computer image. On this point, the critic Donald Kuspit notes the effect Seurat had on impressionism and especially later neo impressionism to pointillism and then to inspire pixels. However, striking spots used by Manet are the primitive prototypes of mathematical sophistication of pixels. The next crucial aspect in the development of this sensations is stating ...
