Economic Reason For Imperialism Essay
An economic motive was the main intent for imperialistic expansion. The country of Britain wanted
resources that their own nation could not supply. They branched out in colonies all over the world to
finally claim the raw materials that the powerful nation needed. However, in the process of that the
country made money, controlled trades all over the world and got their resources through cheap
labour. There are also other motives that propelled the practice upon another country such as, religion,
political, exploratory and ethnocentric beliefs.
The British empire dominated the world through colonisation to collect possessions overseas to ensure
their country was the most efficient and powerful. The economic motive was the main reason for
imperialism. The British explored the world for raw material and other resources to make their mother
country thrive. When the British colonised India they knew that the country would gain a huge
economy from the range of natural resources found by the first British citizens to land on a new found
world. India was known for their riches and spices. The newly colonised country had a range of goods
such as gold, tea, cotton, salt and curry. The British also used cheap labour to maintain those goods
reserved. The natives were forced to work for the Britain in factories and out on the fields to harvest
the crops. The labour keeps a steady supply of the raw materials. When a resource was in the correct
stage to sell and finalised, the British

To fulfill the agreed upon task of project administration and management, I write requests for
information, review samples, and to distribute documents to the specialty contractors. To create
requests for information, we use a system called TeamBuild. Once the document is published, all
designers affected by the question are notified, and have a week to respond. TeamBuild streamlines
communication and allows for quicker responses. When reviewing samples, I enjoy handling the
different materials, and comparing them to the construction documents. Since our architect is in Los

of documents is released, it is my job to make sure the affected subcontractors are able to have access
the updated information. By emailing out the new documents, and giving the company a phone call ...

Recently, I was tasked with completing a takeoff of the wall tile to be placed in our building. The
owner had requested full height tile in the restrooms, but the quote that came in seemed high. By
completing the takeoff, I was able to identify the problems in the estimate. I have found the project
estimator to be a great resource. If I have any questions pertaining the subcontracts, my first contact is
always our estimator. A simple question asked over the phone can often transform into a conversation
where I am able to learn something new about estimating. I was recently offered to have my internship
extended in order to spend a few weeks in the estimating department. Going into my internship I
wanted nothing to do with estimating, but now that I see how the different departments work together
to create a building, the importance of estimators stands out to me. I am excited to experience two

The Effect Of Stretching On Muscle Strength And Performance
Increased muscle strength and performance is sought after by athletes of almost every discipline, as
well as others simply looking to increases their health and fitness. Stretch and flexibility is another
area of fitness, one that is often neglected by most people. However, the effect of stretching on both
muscle strength and performance is disputed by the relatively few studies that have actually been done
on the topic. The results of the studies have ranged from concluding that stretching has a negative
effect on strength on performance to concluding that it has no effect to even concluding that it can
have a positive effect. Many factors play a role in muscle strength and performance so it is difficult to
conclusively determine what is due to stretching and what is due to one of the other variable that come
into play when exercising and training. Knowing the effect of stretching on muscle strength and
performance would allow athletes and their trainers to develop more efficient and productive training
plans to help the athletes achieve a higher level of performance.
Most people are under the impression that stretching lengthens muscles and that an increase in
flexibility is due to an increase in the length of the muscle itself. This is not accurate. Flexibility is not
achieved by having long muscles, but rather having to do with the length tension relationship of the
muscle (Magnusson 1998). There are several different theories for how stretching increases flexibility
and

Mattel s Stereotypes
Barbie has been a household name for decades and many kids around the world love and adore her
greatly. Through the years Barbie has been at the top without any challengers to bring her down.
Executives and shareholder love the way in which Barbie conquers all of the competition. Since its
inception in 1945, Mattel has been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash Duvall, 2005).
As a man, I even understood the importance of Barbie to little girls growing up. Around Christmas,
Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like any superpower, including
countries and toys, there is sure to be challenges out there with someone looking to dethrone the best.
Mattel somehow felt that there was no way anyone could dethrone Barbie, or steal much of her profits.
They were quite wrong in their thinking and paid for it with their bottom line. Although Mattel has
focus groups and professionals who sampled the pool of kids to define what they like, they failed
miserably in seeing that things were changing significantly. When companies are caught on their
heels, it takes a while to react and that can cost millions. In this case, a sluggish reaction by Mattel
executives cost them in excess of 20 million, over a short period of time. Girls who wanted attitude
and ethnicity, not pert and pale, bought $20 million worth of Bratz dolls in the first six months they
were out, and the doll line went on to win the People s Choice Toy of the Year award from

The purpose of my literature review is to examine the various
therapeutic intervention strategies being administered to adult and

Neurodevelopmental treatment deals with proprioceptive and Kinesthetic
perceptious as they relate to functional movement patterns. These
approaches provide training in the perceptual processing components of
functional behavior with perceptual drills or specific sequences of
sensorimotor exercises.
These are the common assumptions underlying the adaptive and
remedial treatments used currently. Occupational therapy s perceptual
retraining literature includes description of both adaptive and remedial
approaches. (Siev et al. 1986), for
example four perceptual treatment Approaches for adults:
A) Sensory integration
B) Transfer of training
C) Functional training and
D) Neurodevelopmental.
Three of these approaches sensory integration, transfer of training,
and neurodevelopmental can be classified as remedial because their
underlying assumptions match the remedial assumption outlined
previously such as the retraining sequences.
In the sensory integration and neurodevelopmental approaches,
the therapist provides controlled vestibular, tactile, proprioceptive, and
kenesthetic stimulation to promote normal central nervous system
processing of sensory information. Theoretically, because perceptual
motor behaviors are performed in response to the nervous systems
interpretation of sensory inputs, normal sensory processing should help

Gatorade Commercial Essay
The commercial highlights a lot of important things about the drink that Gatorade is selling to
consumers. It educates the consumers that the drink contains some elements or chemical that might
harm some individuals if it is highly consume. Furthermore, I think the Gatorade commercial is
targeting athletics because they show Cam Newton slapping two bottle of Gatorade drinks out the
hands of non athletic customer in the store. The main focus of the commercial was sweat it to get or if
you do not sweat it, you do not get it (Gatorade Company.). Just for that slogan it shows that Gatorade

As human we need to educate ourselves about our body and what we put in our body and stop making
life decision because of trend, that is the message that Gatorade is using in the video or the
advertisement. A human body is made of 60 percent water and the body need electrolytes to keep to
stay hydrate on daily basis. Human being need to balance these two because if there is no balance
between water and electrolyte, their can have an effect on the body and it can cause health issues.
Moreover, I think the purpose of the video is to bring awareness to the public about the danger of
drinking too much Gatorade. The drink is full of electrolytes and too much of it can be bad for your
health. Gatorade knows what are the key elements in their sport drink, and these elements helps
individuals with hydration and recovery. By watching the commercial highlighting the function of the
drink. I conclude that Gatorade is targeting athletics as their consumers because athletics need
electrolytes to stay hydrate during workout and recover after workout. In the video the cashier asks the
customer or the man if he know what are electrolytes because the man did not look like the customers
that Gatorade is reaching for to buy their drinks. More to it the cashier ends up not selling the

advances. But by six she was wide awake, and by six fifteen we were technically lovers. I am going to
tell you something very strange: it was she who seduced me. (Nabokov 132). However, this accusation
against Lolita again proves Humbert to be unreliable and his need for control by blaming Lolita for
her perilous magic of a nymphet. He also points out that he was not even Lolita s first sexual
experience, ultimately, he justifies that he did not possess her sexual innocence. Although, he also
reveals Lolita to appear physically inexperienced in which he says, she was not quite prepared for
certain discrepancies between a kid s life and mine. (Nabokov 135). Humbert contradicts himself in
his use of innocence in the way that Lolita has prior sexual experience, so therefore by his definition,
she is no longer innocent; however, he indicates she remains innocent in respect to knowledge and
naivety. Humbert alludes to his belief that Lolita is innocent due to her lack of knowledge and
understanding during their first sexual encounter in which he suggests she seduced him, She saw the
stark act merely as part of a youngster s furtive world, unknown to adults. What adults did for
purposes of procreation was no business of hers. (Nabokov 133). These passages reveal is far from
being sexually mature and understanding the magnitude of adult sexuality, whereas Humbert does

Mih Case Study
MIH Treatment Treatment approaches The available treatment modalities for MIH is extensive but the
decision on which treatment should be used is complex and multi factorial. Factors may include:
condition severity, the patient s dental age, the child/parent s social background and expectations. [1]
Prevention Prevention is of prior importance at an early developmental age as the defective tooth is
more likely to have caries and post eruptive breakdown due to its increased porosity. [1] Appropriate
dietary advice and toothpaste with a fluoride level of at least 1,000 ppm F should be recommended.
[2] For treating spontaneous hypersensitivity, professional applications of fluoride varnish (e.g.
Duraphat 22,600ppm F) or 0.4% stannous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[8] Creamy yellow or whitish creamy defects are less porous and variable in depth [6], and may
respond to microabrasion with 18% hydrochloric acid or 37.5% phosphoric acid and abrasive paste.
[9] [10] Again, this should be undertaken cautiously as microabrasion may result in loss of enamel.
[11] Cavity Design There is still much debate of whether margin extension should include removal of
all defective enamel or only the porous enamel. The former provides sound enamel for bonding but
leads to excessive tooth tissue loss, the latter is less invasive, but the margins may have a high risk of
breakdown due to defective bonding. [1] Yet, it is agreed that adhesive restorations should be used as
opposed to those reliant upon mechanical retention (such as amalgam). [12] Glass ionomer cement
(GIC) restorations. GIC materials have adhesive capabilities with both enamel and dentine, long term
fluoride release and hydrophilicity when there is inadequate moisture control intra orally, during early
post eruptive stages. However GIC s poorer mechanical properties suggest avoidance in stress bearing
areas. In later post eruptive stages GIC may be valuable as sub layer beneath composite restorations.
[1] Composite resin restorations Composite resin material has been shown to have longer term
stability in MIH teeth, with a median survival rate of 5.2 years [13] and a success rate of 74% 100%

A Study On Management Practices
MANAGEMENT PRACTICES Last Name/ First Name: Institution Affiliation: Introduction The
changes in the world today are very much tremendous as far as complexity in the way people do
conduct their everyday business is concerned. With the ever growing population that has been brought
by the advancement in technology, businesses are always under pressure to satisfy the consumer s
demand (Medina, 2014). Therefore, each and every day that passes there is always a necessity for
companies and organizations to work on improving their production and services offered to their
esteemed customers. With the fast depletion of resources, companies have had to look for various
ways that they can use to stay relevant in the business world that is changing every day. Several
businesses have invested in technologies due the efficiency regarding the services and products they
offer. Therefore, the companies have now been able to meet the needs of their customers fast and
satisfy them. Thus, the worry of customers meeting their requirements late even though they requested
for it late as a result of the rising population is reduced. Besides technology, several other things also
make a business to stand tall among its competitors. One such business that has incorporated these
other factors besides technology is the Dunkin Donuts store in the Midwest where I am the manager.

Negative Impact Of World Bank Structural Adjustment Program
NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF WORLD BANK S STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM (SAP)
IN GHANA
INTRODUCTION:
Writing about the negative impacts of The World Bank Structural Adjustment Program in Ghana, my
country of origin is something I can do with my eyes closed, because being an ordinary Ghanaian,
born and raised in Ghana, I do not need a research to know what these institutions have done to the
developing countries they impose their ill intended programs on. Even the blind can feel hunger, lack
of access to good health care, high tariffs on basic utilities such as electricity and water which is as a
result of privatization. This paper is going to highlight on the negative impacts of the World Bank s
sponsored Structural Adjustment Program implemented by the government of Ghana from 1982 to
2008.
STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM 1982 2008
This is what a researcher could say about this program to paint the big picture for readers, Clearly, the
World Bank s structural adjustment of Ghana is a textbook example of how to ruin a country. The
ruthless denial of mineral wealth, food, medical care, education and even water has made the
population destitute spectators to the plunder of Ghana by foreigners. (Ismi. July, 2004).
This program has been repackaged and renamed over the period under different government
administrations but they say a decorated donkey is still an ass. At the beginning under the PNDC/NDC
administration it was called The Structural Adjustment Program which aim was

Relationship Between The European Union ( Eu ) And The...
Abstract This paper analyzes the multifaceted and ever evolving relationship between the European
Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO). With the globalization of security
concerns and with the series of major terrorist attacks beginning on September 11, 2001, cooperation
between these two major powers is becoming increasingly important and hotly debated. In this day
and age international security is of the utmost importance. The world leaders in international security
are the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU). This paper explores
the relationship between these two institutions in the context of security policies, members, global
effect, and the participation and influence of the United States.
Introduction A separation has existed between the EU and NATO since there founding s, however,
with the growing realization that the concerns facing the international community can no longer be
managed by these organizations individually the issue of how the relationship between these
organizations will progress is being pushed into the forethought of political debate. Given the extent
of the transatlantic relationship, congressional foreign policy activities, and interests frequently
involve Europe, the relationship between the United States and the European Union (EU) has become
increasingly significant in recent years. This relationship is likely to grow even more important. In this
context, Members of Congress

Despite its continuous aging, the epic poem Beowulf is...
Despite its continuous aging, the epic poem Beowulf is still currently discussed in modern day English
courses, allowing the reader to unfold and discuss certain literary themes associated throughout the
epic poem. One arguable theme associated with the Anglo Saxon styled poem is that if a great warrior
can also be a prominent ruler of their land or not. A warrior is usually associated with being victorious
in challenging situations, automatically associating themselves as being a great leader or king of a
kingdom. However, heroic actions cannot simply determine a great leader, but rather the character s
traits unique to each great warrior which are needed to produce a great leader. Traits such as: god like
strength, courage to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However Beowulf displayed vital traits needed in a great leader. At his lowest point, Beowulf still
gave his all; never accepting defeat. Accepting a taunting task such as this swim requires enough
courage as is, but to carry threw and be victorious demands a great respect none can share. This plays
into being a great leader when faced with harmful conflict. During times of low moral, many look
directly to their leadership to gain motivation. With Beowulf having such great strength and courage
second to none, it would allow him to make decisions that would instill confidence and motivation in
his men, likely allowing victory to follow. Coinciding with courage and strength, both loyalty and
courtesy are two other key elements that lay at the core of being both a great warrior and leader.
Beowulf perfectly exemplifies these two traits in his willingness to help Hrothgar and his current need
for help. What proves his loyalty doesn t come straight from his heart, but rather the past and Hrothgar
s history with Beowulf s father. In order to resolve a gruesome blood feud between the Wulfings and
Ecgtheow, Hrothgar paid a sum of money to settle their differences. Hrothgar explains, This man is
their son,/ here to follow up an old friendship (375 376). Although Beowulf has no obligation to
Hrothgar, he understands the sacrifice that was made for his father and is grateful for his past help.
Therefore assisting in the slaying of a

Psalm 51 Meaning
The Lament of the Psalter
Psalm 51
Psalm 51 is one of my favorites; it is a Psalm of Lament and true repentance for the wrongdoing; this
Psalm is one of which many can at any point in life relate to. David was truly sorry for his adultery
with Bathsheba and the murdering of her husband to cover this sin. He knew his actions had harmed
many people. Nevertheless, he repented and asked God to forgive him. He knew that there was no one
to turn to and that only God was merciful enough to give him what he did not received, which was life
instead of death. On one hand, the intention is not to go into details of the sin of David. Nonetheless,
We believe it is sufficient to say that he broke two of the Ten Commandments: the seventh
commandment that says: do not commit adultery. He did that with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the
Hittite. And then, he also broke the Sixth Commandment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is interesting that he directed to the deity as O God, not as my God. David had sinned and had no
right to call Him that. He made his appeal to the compassion and mercy of God. He saw God as holy
and merciful. David knew his sin had turned him away from God, who before this incident had a close
connection. He knew that only God s mercy could reach forgiveness. There was no other way out.
David asked God to blot out his transgressions, wash it and clean it. In other words, Delete; this meant
to remove a mark, in this case, his sin. The other expression is clean (Psalm 51: 7). The Leviticus
system provided a purification system. A leper who was healed had to be purified. When a woman
gave birth to a baby, she also needed to be purified. In other cases, blood was sprinkled on the person,
using a swab in order to meet the requirements of the law. David wanted God to cleanse him to such a
degree that he would not be tormented with the tendency to sin. He saw his sin as a horrible leprosy,
leprosy that separates one from

The Ramifications of Government Reform on Education Essay
America currently ranks 36th in the world in regards to education. This encompasses reading, math,
and science. Education in the United States represents multiple achievement gaps across ethnicities,
income levels, and geography. There are many reasons as to why America ranks low. The curriculum
in the United States varies widely from district to district and stretches from state to state, which is one
of the major problems in why America compares greatly to that of other countries. For instance,
different schools offer different classes. In some schools classes that may be a requirement for
students might not even be an option for others at a school that may be right across town. This pertains
especially to public and private schools. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, states are required to develop assessments on basic skills. These assessments vary and can
be given on any subject with varying frequencies. Because the act does not enforce a national
achievement standard, each state develops its own standards. Therefore, the requirements,
expectations, and achievements are diverse.
The No Child Left Behind Act promotes the idea that competition between schools will increase the
efficiency and effectiveness of the education system. At the same time, the rhetoric of NCLB
maintains the progressive message of the Common School era (Aske, Connolly, Corman, 107) In
essence, it is contradictory. On the one hand the act wants competition so that students will learn more
and want to achieve more. However, it also wants all schools to be on the same level or playing field
so that they are equal. In order to achieve with competition some will have to be left behind, therefore
there is no real way to measure actual achievement with a common school ideal.
The Common School era dates back to the 19th century and states that in America it is the idea or
expectation that all children are supported equally in regards to education and are afforded the same
opportunities. It is based on the view that education should be an equitable, assimilative,

Blast and Vorticism Magazines
Blast is a key literary magazine of the English avant garde, published during 1914 and 1915. Although
founded by Wyndham Lewis, Ezra Pound holds an important post of assisting Lewis with the
publishing of the magazine, dealing with its main theme of Vorticism. Not only this, but Pounds
involvement with Imagism prior to the publication of Blast plays an influence in the way literature is
evidently shaped and associated within the magazine. With themes of Cubism and Futurism also being
evident in the magazine; emphasises the focus on providing a magazine which prides itself in
producing literature rich in artistic detail to the themes of its time. Although images and layout are a
key factor in emphasising these themes, it is the content for example poems within the magazine
relating to Vorticism, that is new in which it focuses on locating the movement and stillness within the
image .
Blast and Vorticism s roots are said to lie and be based on Pounds history with Imagism in literature,
particularly poetry, and Cubism and Futurism in arts . With Pound forming the group Imagism based
on similarly discovering new philosophies of thought and experimenting with new changes in verse
form , he was in constant pursuit for literary advancement. With the group founded in 1912, by 1914
Pound assisted Lewis in the production of Blast. With inspiration coming from Imagism s objectivity,
efficiency and creativity , Pound further strived for a style of writing in poetry which suggested

The Sociological Impacts Of Ali Unal And The Spread Of Islam
However, Ali Unal implies there are many benefits and burdens that can be accomplished by
participating in a polygamous relationship. Alongside reducing the possibility of any extramarital
affairs, it also deals with the situation of gender ratios as many countries may have a larger female
population as compared to their male counterparts. Ali Unal s translation is in complete contrast to the
view proposed by Muhammad Asad. The Turkish author highlights the religious and historical
significance of polygamy in spreading the message of Islam. The argument was forwarded that the
marriages of Prophet Muhammad allowed for the development of deeper ties across Arabia even
amongst various tribes who trusted the Prophet for guidance as a result of the formation of new
relationships (Ãœnal, 2008).If one was to argue for the permissibility of polygamy, it may be implied
that polygamy could spread the essence of Islam through such a way that individuals can interpret the
Quran through the positive actions from the spouses. It is evident both Muhammad Asad and Ali Unal
highlight Surah 4:3 but Ali Unal emphasises the positive sociological impact such relationship can
possess.
The counter view to the above point provides a crucial shift towards the idea that polygamy perhaps

Archetype Mother Goddess In The Hunger Games
Being selfless is a characteristic that few people possess. Being concerned more with the needs of
others is what heroism embodies. The narrative in the movie, The Hunger Games follows Katniss
Everdeen s heroic quest as a tribute in the 74th Hunger Games of Panem. How does Katniss embody
the feminine archetype mother goddess and how does a hero s journey represent Katniss quest as a
tribute in the Hunger Games? What is the feminine archetype mother goddess? An archetype is a
personality type that is generally thought to be the greatest or purest example (Harris). Goddess is the
female version of God. A goddess is the great Mother, she exists in all women, is beautiful even in her
flaws, and she is a woman in touch with her own power to create and destroy (Jones ch. 3). The
archetype mother goddess is actually several archetypes bottled up into one great archetype. The Great
Mother personifies a caretaker, guide, nurturer, protector, and creator (ch. 3). A caretaker is a nurturer,
who can take on the role of looking after another human being, is often protective, loyal, and sacrifice
themselves for the greater good (ch. 3). In addition, caretakers are selfless, empathic, virtuous, true,
incredibly strong and resilient (ch. 3). A creator archetype can give birth to new ideas, concepts, and
things (ch. 3). Katniss demonstrates all of these qualities during her quest as a tribute.
What is a hero and a hero s journey? A hero is an individual who has the courage of conviction to
perform feats that benefit the general populace, acts as a soldier of virtue, and has an altruistic spirit
that urges him or her to act against evil and defend the greater good at all costs, even sacrificing his
own well being or life (Harris 2). Vogler reduced Joseph Campbell s The Hero Journey to 12 Stages of
The Hero s Journey. The following are Vogler s Stages of The Hero s Journey:
1. OrdinaryWorld 7. Approach
2. Call To Adventure 8. Supreme Ordeal
3. Refusal Of TheCall 9. Reward
4. Meeting With The Mentor 10. The Road Back
5. Crossing The 1st Threshold 11. Resurrection
6. Tests, Allies, Enemies 12. Return With Elixir

Connotation For Independence
Once upon a time Cuba was a state ruled by the American law. Then a man came, namely Fidel
Castro, and fought for an independent state of Cuba. After the death of thousands and intensive
diplomatic negotiations Cuba became an independent nation. Just like Castro s independence many
people strived to become independent throughout the history in different ways. Independence is a state
of being where one is free from the rule of authority. The desire for independence by the people
lacking it formed a positive connotation for the word; at the same time, unjustified negative
connotations of the word was developed by the individuals aiming to hinder the independence of

Independence of South Sudan was viewed positively by the South Sudanese people, but the Sudan

The Effects Of Light Pollution On The Outdoor Environment
Definition: Also known as photopollution is misdirected, obstructive or unneeded artificial light.
Pollution is the adding of/added light itself, in analogy to added sound, carbon dioxide, etc. Adverse
consequences are multiple; some of them may not be known yet. Scientific definitions thus include the
following: Degradation of photic habitat by artificial light. Alteration of natural light levels in the
outdoor environment owing to artificial light sources. Light pollution is the alteration of light levels in
the outdoor environment (from those present naturally) due to man made sources of light. Indoor light
pollution is such alteration of light levels in the indoor environment due to sources of light, which
compromises human health.[3] Light pollution is the introduction by humans, directly or indirectly, of
artificial light into the environment. The first three of the above four scientific definitions describe the
state of the environment. The fourth (and newest) one describes the process of polluting by light.
Light pollution competes with starlight in the night sky for urban residents, interferes with
astronomical observatories, and, like any other form of pollution, disrupts ecosystems and has adverse
health effects. Light pollution can be divided into two main types: Unpleasant light that intrudes on an
otherwise natural or low light setting Excessive light (generally indoors) that leads to discomfort and
adverse health effects Light pollution is a

Modern vs. Classical Music
Though the delight of listening to a brand new track on a compact disc with a big name artist has a
similar emotional feel for modern day people, as it would have felt for people listening to a live
symphony during the Classical era, the ability the artists, and those involved with them, have with the
increase of new technology and business schemes has allowed their base of listeners to be on a global
scale for millions, if not yet billions. During the late 17th century to early 19th century, the
phenomenon that is the evolution of Liturgical Music had hit the Classical era; extremely skilled
artists such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Schubert were producing masterpieces for the courts of
the upper class. Because the culture that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music medium has exploded into a worldwide cultural phenomenon, where ideas and thoughts of
composition and sound can be exchanged with ease through radios, computers, concerts and
Vinyl/CD/Tape/MP3, which leads to constantly evolving music, rather than the antiquated notion of
music being a regional cultural experience. In terms of the artist in the modern music scene, the skill
and dedication required is equally demanding if not more so to rise to the top in this competitive
industry, though the reward is far greater in terms of fame, wealth and social status; all of which
Mozart strived for but never was able to attain despite being perhaps one of the greatest musical
talents the world has seen yet. Also with the expansion of audiences, infusions of genres and
capabilities with technology, modern society has seen a trend in corporations fabricating bands,
composing music for artists that fit with the cultural fads and electronically perfecting acoustics, all of
which are ways for these companies to make quick profit. The downfall in this is the loss of
appreciation of music by these corporations and eventually listeners, in terms of the emotion, talent
and sacrifice that it takes away from the real musicians trying to make a name for themselves and their
careers, such as Schubert

Analysis Of Nietzsche s On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense
In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , Nietzsche seeks to explain why and how humankind has
developed our own senses of truth and in the same vein, lies. He says that the process involves taking
a stimuli and creating an image metaphor for it, and then a sound metaphor to it, which results in the
creation of language. Then, the human brain categorizes the stimuli into certain categories and into
different concepts that represent the total of unequal individualized objects and then rejects everything
that the category is not as a lie. Nietzsche argues that the processes aforementioned are impervious by
nature and completely illogical. The result is that we have created our own ideas that we call truth and
we shun the lies despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche calls the human race artistically creating subjects because we are able to take a stimulus
whether it be an image, smell, or sound and make a metaphorical image in our minds of what the
object is by assigning characteristics to it. Then, humans assign a metaphorical sound to represent the
stimulus, which eventually becomes the basis of language. Therefore, we have created this metaphor
to the perception of a stimulus that could change from person to person; it is completely subjective.
No child is born with this knowledge of their environment, but taught by parents or guardians. For
example, color is very subjective because if a child is raised to think that the color red is actually
called blue , he would only know it as blue. This metaphorical process, along with the need to be
social, eventually produced languages between humans and gave us a sense of truthfulness and lies,
which only entails that fact that humans are purposely using the definition of something the wrong
way in order to harm. In addition, Nietzsche also points out the cases of differing foreign languages
because nothing corresponds directly to the actual nature of a stimulus. Nietzsche argues that it is
illogical because humans made the idea of language, truth, and lie and therefore, it doesn t exist in
nature. The fact that we accept anyone that accurately describes something and shun someone that
tells a lie is completely subjective and frankly wrong, according to

Another way to save money with electric vehicles is through the factor of depreciation. Now every car
gas or electric will go through depreciation one way or another, but electric vehicles have a lower

shots at the end of the game to give a teammate that shot. Maybe he does not have the same killer

Management Reflection
Management skills play an imperative role in our lives and can be cultivated for a successful career
ahead in life. This program provided me an opportunity to work in a team and to overcome the
obstacles faced to produce deliverables. Through this course I have learnt how to resolve conflicts
with your colleagues and how tackle or avoid unforeseen problems while working in a group
environment.
I would like to focus more on my ability to adapt quickly to the diversity in a team as,
miscommunication hinders the growth of the team.
The team was formed using Tuckman s Team Model which has four following stages, Forming,
Storming, Norming and Performing. I have enlisted my views on how we formed the team and the
struggles we had to overcome. The team which was initially formed comprised of four people, later
we had two more addition to the team. The team members had a lot of anxiety in the beginning as we
were unknown to each other. To break the ice, I came up with an idea to plan an informal meet, to
make sure everyone was on the same page. Clear objectives were set and expectations from the
members were laid down.
During Week 1, we had the first team activity called Airplane Exercise . The appointed manager and
the designer for this task came up with a very different idea on the design of the aircraft. Eventually
we realized that the design was not feasible and the exercise was misinterpreted by us as a team, but
we were effective in changing the design quickly after our discussion with the professor. By this
activity I learned that how important it is to understand the requirement of the activity instead of
jumping to the solution. The other thing that I gathered from the group activity was not to panic when
you are on a strict timeline because it kills a lot of time.
As a team with diverse personalities and background, we had our inhibitions to express ourselves
freely to each other. Since everyone had a different approach to the problem at hand, we could not
reach to any consensus. To avoid problems, everyone was expected to stick to the agenda shared in the
course outline.
In the week 3, the personality test helped me to understand my team and their thoughts better. I
personally feel this was the time,

A Broadway Dream Book Analysis
Picture it. Broadway during the 1920s. Florenz Ziegfeld produces a revue called Ziegfeld s Follies.
Girls appear in elaborate costumes bordering on the risque. Gangsters are running rampant from Al
Capone to Bugs Moran to Machine Gun Kelly. This is the world in which Agnes Bobbie Storey finds
herself.
Agnes family lived in Leaholme until the war nearly closed their inn, forcing them to find work in
London. Shortly afterward, her father dies of Spanish Influenza, and Agnes is forced to find a job to
help support her family. She manages to land a job at a restaurant belonging to a friend of her father. It
is here that she wins The Most Beautiful Barmaid in London contest. This sparks Andre Charlot to
offer her a spot in his revue that is traveling to Broadway. She immediately accepts, thus beginning
her love affair with fame, success, and New York City.
A Broadway Dream by Jane Hill is a fiction based on the historical person by the name of Bobbie
Storey. Amazon has this correctly classified as historical fiction or biographical fiction; however, it

themselves at any cost and reducing the value of a man to his work.
Debs had not yet believed in or subscribed to socialist values at this time and as a rising figure in Terre

However, she successfully delivers a fastidious, inventive, and enticing historical text. The
investigation of the discourses among Jack the Ripper, she illustrates the historical significance of
narratives of sexuality. She demonstrates different discourses that surfaced the were the results of
extraordinary struggles over power. She illustrates these struggles over the implications in concrete

Lithium Before added to the H²O it had already acted with the oxygen creating lithium oxide. When
added to the H2O the piece of Lithium starts to bubble (sizzle), produces heat, and dissolves . Looks
like a piece of chalk, and is grey/silver in the middle once it has been cut open. Very soft to cut. Turns
to Lithium Hydroxide as the H2O turns pink.
Sodium and Phenolphthalein When added to the H2O the small piece of Sodium goes out of control

Discussion:
The lower the metal is in the group the faster it will react with water. This was seen to be true for both
groups one and two. In all cases the metals reacted to form Hydrogen Gas ad a solution that was
alkaline. Down the group the electronegativity decreases which results in a metal element losing its
valance electrons more easily and hence reacting more

The Design Arguments For The Existence Of God
The design arguments for the existence of God center on the principle that an intelligent designer, in
this case God, has crafted our world so that each item has a purpose and significant meaning.
Additionally, the world is a complex and sometimes enigmatic system of elements which work
together to sustain life in a way that some argue is unlikely to have occurred by pure chance alone.
Therefore, some philosophers credit a divine being as the source of this order and purpose in the
universe. Furthermore, William Paley offers a version of the design argument in which he employs
simple analogy between a watchmaker and God to demonstrate God s presence. However, critics of
this approach to proving God s existence object to this simplistic analogy of the origin of natural
components in the world and instead argue that an evolutionary perspective better explains the
existence of such objects and therefore, for the sake of simplicity, a divine being does not need to
remain in the equation. As a result, both the objections of flaws in the format of Paley s argument and
the needless inclusion of God as a designer cannot successfully be refuted by supporters of Paley.
Arguably the most famous design argument was proposed by philosopher William Paley who used the
analogy of a watch and a watchmaker to illustrate his point of view. He claimed that a watch was
created with many interconnected parts which moved together in very specific and precise motions to
allow for its intended

  • 2. Economic Reason For Imperialism Essay An economic motive was the main intent for imperialistic expansion. The country of Britain wanted resources that their own nation could not supply. They branched out in colonies all over the world to finally claim the raw materials that the powerful nation needed. However, in the process of that the country made money, controlled trades all over the world and got their resources through cheap labour. There are also other motives that propelled the practice upon another country such as, religion, political, exploratory and ethnocentric beliefs. The British empire dominated the world through colonisation to collect possessions overseas to ensure their country was the most efficient and powerful. The economic motive was the main reason for imperialism. The British explored the world for raw material and other resources to make their mother country thrive. To create requests for information, we use a system called TeamBuild. Once the document is published, all designers affected by the question are notified, and have a week to respond. TeamBuild streamlines communication and allows for quicker responses. When reviewing samples, I enjoy handling the different materials, and comparing them to the construction documents. Since our architect is in Los Angeles, it takes finite coordination to make all opinions are incorporated. Lastly, whenever a new set of documents is released, it is my job to make sure the affected subcontractors are able to have access the updated information. • 4. The Effect Of Stretching On Muscle Strength And Performance Increased muscle strength and performance is sought after by athletes of almost every discipline, as well as others simply looking to increases their health and fitness. Stretch and flexibility is another area of fitness, one that is often neglected by most people. However, the effect of stretching on both muscle strength and performance is disputed by the relatively few studies that have actually been done on the topic. The results of the studies have ranged from concluding that stretching has a negative effect on strength on performance to concluding that it has no effect to even concluding that it can have a positive effect. Many factors play a role in muscle strength and performance so it is difficult to conclusively determine what is due to stretching and what is due to one of the other variable that come into play when exercising and training. Knowing the effect of stretching on muscle strength and performance would allow athletes and their trainers to develop more efficient and productive training plans to help the athletes achieve a higher level of performance. Most people are under the impression that stretching lengthens muscles and that an increase in flexibility is due to an increase in the length of the muscle itself. This is not accurate. Flexibility is not achieved by having long muscles, but rather having to do with the length tension relationship of the muscle (Magnusson 1998). There are several different theories for how stretching increases flexibility and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the years Barbie has been at the top without any challengers to bring her down. Executives and shareholder love the way in which Barbie conquers all of the competition. Since its inception in 1945, Mattel has been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash Duvall, 2005). As a man, I even understood the importance of Barbie to little girls growing up. Around Christmas, Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like any superpower, including countries and toys, there is sure to be challenges out there with someone looking to dethrone the best. Mattel somehow felt that there was no way anyone could dethrone Barbie, or steal much of her profits. They were quite wrong in their thinking and paid for it with their bottom line. Although Mattel has focus groups and professionals who sampled the pool of kids to define what they like, they failed miserably in seeing that things were changing significantly. When companies are caught on their heels, it takes a while to react and that can cost millions. In this case, a sluggish reaction by Mattel executives cost them in excess of 20 million, over a short period of time. Despite its continuous aging, the epic poem Beowulf is still currently discussed in modern day English courses, allowing the reader to unfold and discuss certain literary themes associated throughout the epic poem. One arguable theme associated with the Anglo Saxon styled poem is that if a great warrior can also be a prominent ruler of their land or not. A warrior is usually associated with being victorious in challenging situations, automatically associating themselves as being a great leader or king of a kingdom. At his lowest point, Beowulf still gave his all; never accepting defeat. Accepting a taunting task such as this swim requires enough courage as is, but to carry threw and be victorious demands a great respect none can share. This plays into being a great leader when faced with harmful conflict. During times of low moral, many look directly to their leadership to gain motivation. With Beowulf having such great strength and courage second to none, it would allow him to make decisions that would instill confidence and motivation in his men, likely allowing victory to follow. Coinciding with courage and strength, both loyalty and courtesy are two other key elements that lay at the core of being both a great warrior and leader. Beowulf perfectly exemplifies these two traits in his willingness to help Hrothgar and his current need for help. What proves his loyalty doesn t come straight from his heart, but rather the past and Hrothgar s history with Beowulf s father. Alongside reducing the possibility of any extramarital affairs, it also deals with the situation of gender ratios as many countries may have a larger female population as compared to their male counterparts. Ali Unal s translation is in complete contrast to the view proposed by Muhammad Asad. The Turkish author highlights the religious and historical significance of polygamy in spreading the message of Islam. The argument was forwarded that the marriages of Prophet Muhammad allowed for the development of deeper ties across Arabia even amongst various tribes who trusted the Prophet for guidance as a result of the formation of new relationships (Ãœnal, 2008).If one was to argue for the permissibility of polygamy, it may be implied that polygamy could spread the essence of Islam through such a way that individuals can interpret the Quran through the positive actions from the spouses. The narrative in the movie, The Hunger Games follows Katniss Everdeen s heroic quest as a tribute in the 74th Hunger Games of Panem. How does Katniss embody the feminine archetype mother goddess and how does a hero s journey represent Katniss quest as a tribute in the Hunger Games? What is the feminine archetype mother goddess? An archetype is a personality type that is generally thought to be the greatest or purest example (Harris). Goddess is the female version of God. A goddess is the great Mother, she exists in all women, is beautiful even in her flaws, and she is a woman in touch with her own power to create and destroy (Jones ch. 3). The archetype mother goddess is actually several archetypes bottled up into one great archetype. The Great Mother personifies a caretaker, guide, nurturer, protector, and creator (ch. 3). A caretaker is a nurturer, who can take on the role of looking after another human being, is often protective, loyal, and sacrifice themselves for the greater good (ch. 3). In addition, caretakers are selfless, empathic, virtuous, true, incredibly strong and resilient (ch. 3). A creator archetype can give birth to new ideas, concepts, and things (ch. 3). Katniss demonstrates all of these qualities during her quest as a tribute. What is a hero and a hero s journey? A hero is an individual who has the courage of conviction to perform feats that benefit the general populace, acts as a soldier of virtue, and has an altruistic spirit that urges him or her to act against evil and defend the greater good at all costs, even sacrificing his own well being or life (Harris 2). • 24. The Effects Of Light Pollution On The Outdoor Environment Definition: Also known as photopollution is misdirected, obstructive or unneeded artificial light. Pollution is the adding of/added light itself, in analogy to added sound, carbon dioxide, etc. Adverse consequences are multiple; some of them may not be known yet. Scientific definitions thus include the following: Degradation of photic habitat by artificial light. Alteration of natural light levels in the outdoor environment owing to artificial light sources. Light pollution is the alteration of light levels in the outdoor environment (from those present naturally) due to man made sources of light. Indoor light pollution is such alteration of light levels in the indoor environment due to sources of light, which compromises human health.[3] Light pollution is the introduction by humans, directly or indirectly, of artificial light into the environment. The first three of the above four scientific definitions describe the state of the environment. The fourth (and newest) one describes the process of polluting by light. Light pollution competes with starlight in the night sky for urban residents, interferes with astronomical observatories, and, like any other form of pollution, disrupts ecosystems and has adverse health effects. Modern vs. Classical Music Though the delight of listening to a brand new track on a compact disc with a big name artist has a similar emotional feel for modern day people, as it would have felt for people listening to a live symphony during the Classical era, the ability the artists, and those involved with them, have with the increase of new technology and business schemes has allowed their base of listeners to be on a global scale for millions, if not yet billions. During the late 17th century to early 19th century, the phenomenon that is the evolution of Liturgical Music had hit the Classical era; extremely skilled artists such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Schubert were producing masterpieces for the courts of the upper class. The music medium has exploded into a worldwide cultural phenomenon, where ideas and thoughts of composition and sound can be exchanged with ease through radios, computers, concerts and Vinyl/CD/Tape/MP3, which leads to constantly evolving music, rather than the antiquated notion of music being a regional cultural experience. In terms of the artist in the modern music scene, the skill and dedication required is equally demanding if not more so to rise to the top in this competitive industry, though the reward is far greater in terms of fame, wealth and social status; all of which Mozart strived for but never was able to attain despite being perhaps one of the greatest musical talents the world has seen yet. Also with the expansion of audiences, infusions of genres and capabilities with technology, modern society has seen a trend in corporations fabricating bands, composing music for artists that fit with the cultural fads and electronically perfecting acoustics, all of which are ways for these companies to make quick profit. The downfall in this is the loss of appreciation of music by these corporations and eventually listeners, in terms of the emotion, talent and sacrifice that it takes away from the real musicians trying to make a name for themselves and their careers, such as Schubert ... • 26. Analysis Of Nietzsche s On Truth And Lies In A Nonmoral Sense In On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense , Nietzsche seeks to explain why and how humankind has developed our own senses of truth and in the same vein, lies. He says that the process involves taking a stimuli and creating an image metaphor for it, and then a sound metaphor to it, which results in the creation of language. Then, the human brain categorizes the stimuli into certain categories and into different concepts that represent the total of unequal individualized objects and then rejects everything that the category is not as a lie. Nietzsche argues that the processes aforementioned are impervious by nature and completely illogical. The result is that we have created our own ideas that we call truth and we shun the lies despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nietzsche calls the human race artistically creating subjects because we are able to take a stimulus whether it be an image, smell, or sound and make a metaphorical image in our minds of what the object is by assigning characteristics to it. Then, humans assign a metaphorical sound to represent the stimulus, which eventually becomes the basis of language. Therefore, we have created this metaphor to the perception of a stimulus that could change from person to person; it is completely subjective. No child is born with this knowledge of their environment, but taught by parents or guardians. For example, color is very subjective because if a child is raised to think that the color red is actually called blue , he would only know it as blue. This metaphorical process, along with the need to be social, eventually produced languages between humans and gave us a sense of truthfulness and lies, which only entails that fact that humans are purposely using the definition of something the wrong way in order to harm. In addition, Nietzsche also points out the cases of differing foreign languages because nothing corresponds directly to the actual nature of a stimulus. Nietzsche argues that it is illogical because humans made the idea of language, truth, and lie and therefore, it doesn t exist in nature. The fact that we accept anyone that accurately describes something and shun someone that tells a lie is completely subjective and frankly wrong, according to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would like to focus more on my ability to adapt quickly to the diversity in a team as, miscommunication hinders the growth of the team. The team was formed using Tuckman s Team Model which has four following stages, Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing. I have enlisted my views on how we formed the team and the struggles we had to overcome. The team which was initially formed comprised of four people, later we had two more addition to the team. The team members had a lot of anxiety in the beginning as we were unknown to each other. To break the ice, I came up with an idea to plan an informal meet, to make sure everyone was on the same page. Clear objectives were set and expectations from the members were laid down. During Week 1, we had the first team activity called Airplane Exercise . The appointed manager and the designer for this task came up with a very different idea on the design of the aircraft. Eventually we realized that the design was not feasible and the exercise was misinterpreted by us as a team, but we were effective in changing the design quickly after our discussion with the professor. By this activity I learned that how important it is to understand the requirement of the activity instead of jumping to the solution. The other thing that I gathered from the group activity was not to panic when you are on a strict timeline because it kills a lot of time. As a team with diverse personalities and background, we had our inhibitions to express ourselves freely to each other. Since everyone had a different approach to the problem at hand, we could not reach to any consensus. To avoid problems, everyone was expected to stick to the agenda shared in the course outline. • 45. The Design Arguments For The Existence Of God The design arguments for the existence of God center on the principle that an intelligent designer, in this case God, has crafted our world so that each item has a purpose and significant meaning. Additionally, the world is a complex and sometimes enigmatic system of elements which work together to sustain life in a way that some argue is unlikely to have occurred by pure chance alone. Therefore, some philosophers credit a divine being as the source of this order and purpose in the universe. Furthermore, William Paley offers a version of the design argument in which he employs simple analogy between a watchmaker and God to demonstrate God s presence. However, critics of this approach to proving God s existence object to this simplistic analogy of the origin of natural components in the world and instead argue that an evolutionary perspective better explains the existence of such objects and therefore, for the sake of simplicity, a divine being does not need to remain in the equation. As a result, both the objections of flaws in the format of Paley s argument and the needless inclusion of God as a designer cannot successfully be refuted by supporters of Paley.
