Book Of Luke Parable Essay
The book of Luke contains the most parables of the four Gospels. Among these
teachings is the story of the three servants. Like all parables, this story portrays a
lesson that Jesus is encouraging those who hear to learn and live after. In this
parable, an upper class man entrusts ten servants with the job to take one mina and
use it wisely in business. Another important aspect is the fact that this man was
trying to become a king and had people who rallied against him. The outcome of
these events parallel to what the outcome of those listening will be depending on the
path they choose. Within this parable, many aspects of Luke s other writings are
seen, further supporting his theological basis.
The parable of the three servants explains how a nobleman who, when leaving in
search of becoming a king, gives a mina to ten of his servants to engage in business
with until he returns as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that Jesus stated he was leaving and was to return also could have been
meant to put to rest any gossip of the kingdom of God coming as soon as Jesus
entered Jerusalem. The business mentioned in the parable can parallel as these
chosen people spreading what they have learned and reaching more people for the
Christ. Those who go in joy and bring people to be saved in Jesus and become part
of His inheritance shall be rewarded, however those who keep the Good News to
themselves will be punished for it. As for those who fought against the king, they
represent the group of people who may hear the Good News, but make an effort to
disbar Jesus and revoke any power He has, or simply choose to not listen. When He
returns as King we are all to be judged for our deeds and those who fight against
Jesus and do not accept Him will be put to eternal death in Hell (Matthew
Effects Of Cellphones On Society And Environment
In a world and culture where most people own a cellphone and are obsessed of
using them, it is almost impossible to neglect to point out the harmful effects of too
much usage of this technology. Cellphones made today certainly has much to offer,
and without a doubt is a great innovation. But when it comes to relying on them it
can certainly affect us and what is surrounding us negatively. Today, cellphones are
one of the major part of our society. We always see someone texting or making a
quick phone call or even walking around swiping their phones to catch these little
rare creatures. Many people find these to be very convenient in their everyday lives,
but most do not stop to consider the harmful effects on one s health, society and...

Cheating at school is just one thing. The internet makes bullying easier, faster and
harsher. It is something that will never go away and it can be seen by everyone.
Cyberbullying is now made easier with a use of a cellphone because you do not
have to turn on a computer. As we all know, bullying can lead to many emotional,
physical, and mental aspects of one s life such as, depression, eating disorders, self
esteem, and even have suicidal thoughts. The usage of cellphones have also
created less unity with families and friends. Whether you are interviewing
someone, dating someone, or even meeting up with an old friend from years ago,
their is s special quality and moment when it comes to face to face interactions.
You can catch the nervousness in their voice, see the expressions as it changes
from sadness to laughter, and you can look in their eyes and see each others
connections. It is very unfortunate that real life interactions are on the cons of
cellphone texting, calling or emailing. Negative Effects on Health These high tech
cellphone devices may not only store important data for your own personal use,
but also germs too. The average cellphone user places their phone in contact in
several places where it can easy pick up germs. Your phone is a good source that
you would only expect to find in a public bathroom. The Wall Street Journal reported

Market Research Project
1. Executive summary The purpose of this research report is to find out whether
customers are interested in an online hypermarket. To analyze this, the research is
divided in three topics. The first one discusses the interest from customers to buy
online. The second looks at drivers and barriers for people to buy online. Finally, the
third topic investigates the different product categories that Caddyhome should
include in their assortment. To analyze these topics, a market research was conducted
through a face to face questionnaire and the results analyzed through a statistical
program called SPSS. These results can be found in Appendix A. On the basis of
these results, recommendations are given to Caddyhome regarding these topics....

Sample design For the purpose of our market research, we used a nonprobability
sampling. We focused on people who, at least, sometimes buy online. We used a
convenience sample, which means that we asked people who were available when
and where we collected our data. Our sample was conducted among 100 150
respondents with Dutch, Belgian, French and Spanish nationalities. This should be
enough in order to get some insight of the interest of the customers for the project
and derive some relevant results from it. 5. Research questions, hypothesis and
data analysis I. The interest to buy in an online hypermarket To analyze this topic
we have six research questions. After we have tested the corresponding
hypotheses, we give a short recommendation to Caddyhome regarding this topic.
Research question 1 Are customers interested in purchasing in an online
hypermarket? H0: Customers are indifferent to buy in an online hypermarket.
(Вµ=3) Ha: Customers are not indifferent to buy in an online hypermarket. (Вµ is
not equal to 3) The questionnaire question we addressed for this research question
is question 4. To test this research question we decided to use a one sample t test
(two tailed) with a test value of 3. We decided to use a one sample t test because we
only have 1 sample (all the respondents) and our dependent variable has interval data.
The test is two sided because the
Aura in Walter Benjamin s Illuminations
Response to Prompt #3 In Walter Benjamin s book Illuminations, two particular
chapters are relevant to the corpus of works that make up film study. Art in the Age
of Mechanical Reproductions and The Storyteller outline a progressive history from
oral traditions to the modern traditions such as film that resulted and the bumps that
have been encountered along the way. Central to these two chapters is the idea of
aura. Aura, though difficult to define, is a concept that is easy to perceive because of
its engaging qualities. From oral to written to visual representations including film,
the story is the nucleus that produces entertainment and ideally educates the
audience. To be entertained does not require much of the audience,... Show more

Although exaggerations have been added for entertainment value and alterations
have been made, the attempt was always to communicate an awesome experience.
In Leskov s The Left Handed Craftsman, the namesake is not by far the protagonist,
but his involvement with the steel flea from Brittan resurrected the tale which was,
among many other things, a tribute to ancient craftsmen. The relationship of the
storyteller to his material is that of a craftsman to his medium. Benjamin asks
whether it is not his [the story teller or craftsman] very task to fashion the raw
material of experience, his own and that of others, in a solid, useful, and unique
way (p. 108). If the writer is as acutely aware of his or her audience as an oral story
teller would be, it is possible to craft a utilitarian product. The solitary production
method of writing that removes the writer from his or her immediate context makes
this very difficult to achieve. What is lost is the mystical aura that electrified and
preserved oral storytelling for so many generations. Writing by hand inevitably led to
the printing press and other forms of art, such as visual art, which soon became
easily reproducible. The degradation continues as the mode of production evolves.
With the advent of the lithograph, whose origins lie in etching and engraving, works
of art were beginning to lose their aura. Just as a written novel is not the same as the
oral story from which it may
Should Motorcycle Helmets Be Required For All
Motorcycle...
Helmets should be required for all motorcycle riders.
According to the Kansas Department of transportation, there were, 1,087 motorcycle
crashes in 2016. Of those, 860 people involved in the crashes were injured, 52
people died; while only 21 of those people were wearing helmets (Kansas Department
of Transportation). There are only 17 states in the United States that require helmets
be used always, 19 states say that you must wear a helmet if you are under the age of
18, while 11 states say you must wear a helmet if you are under the age of 21,
leaving only four states that have no helmet laws at all (Motorcycle Helmet Laws)
While some may argue that motorcycle helmets take away their freedom on the
road and oppose their constitutional rights; helmets should be required to be worn
by all motorcycle riders because they prevent skull, brain, and spinal cord injuries.
Helmets prevent wind and debris from getting in the driver s eyes, and its costs tax
payers less money to treat helmets wearers than non helmet wearers. Motorcycle
helmets are specially made and tested to prevent injuries from occurring to the
driver s skull, brain, and spinal cord. Many helmets are run through extensive testing
to ensure that they are going to keep the motorcyclist safe in the event of a collision
or slide (Wendling). According to a study, full face helmets, which surround the
entire head and cover the face, reduced the risk of facial and skull fractures by almost
half (Wendling). Helmeted

Chapter 2 Outline
I. In the Classical period, China s early empire was created on behalf of developed
agricultural systems, better control over the country, and fending off invasions from
the north. The rise and fall of the Zhou, Han and Qin dynasty has provided the
foundation for the growing country of China. These dynasties has contributed
agressively to China s accomplishments. Such as, the Great Wall of China during the
Qin Dynasty, expansion of Chinese Territory during many of the dynasties, and
overcoming the invasions from the Nomads from the north, the huns.

The Qin dynasty is set apart from all the other dynasties in the sense that A. The
dynasty only lasted only 15 years and B. Was under the control of an extremely
brutal emperor. Shi Huangdi stripped the artistorats of their power, so Huangdi held
all of the power and had full control over China. Meanwhile, during the Han dynasty
Wu Ti decided to reduce the brutality the Qin had, but also remain in power. This
proved successful and unsuccessful when China was later invaded by the Huns. This
is a difference between the 2 dynasties. A similarity is that both the Han dynasty and
the Qin dynasty expanded China s boarders, and that political control was established.

How Did Nicolaus Copernicus Influence The Renaissance
The world of astronomy is filled with famous names, such as Galileo and Newton.
However, one of the most significant astronomers during the Renaissance era was
Nicolaus Copernicus. Copernicus s first interest in astronomy blossomed into a life of
creating astronomical theories. These theories would not only shape the world of
science, but transform the Renaissance and history itself. Nicolaus Copernicuswas an
extremely significant figure in history because he was a scientist, he challenged the
RCC, he used Classical World ideas, and he modeled the spirit of the Renaissance.
Nicolaus Copernicus made many scientific advancements during the Renaissance. For
example, one of the new theories he created was heliocentric theory. Heliocentric

Copernicus s new heliocentric theory caused trouble with the church. The Church
believed in geocentrism, the theory that the Earth, Jerusalem specifically, was the
center of the universe. Copernicus s theory contradicted the Church s teachings,
which made him hesitant to publicize his ideas. Copernicus feared the punishments
he would receive from the Church and other Christians for his ideas. However, in
1530, he began to share his theory among other scholars. He received positive
feedback for his theory, and thirteen years later, he was convinced to publish his
ideas in a book called De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium (On the Revolutions on
the Heavenly Spheres). Many people rejected Copernicus s ideas; in fact, Martin
Luther once stated, This Fool wants to turn the whole Art of Astronomyupside down.
While his book did convince some people to accept heliocentric theory, the book
was not widely published, it was difficult to read, and the book was very expensive,
causing the book to gain little attention. Even with the lack of publicly, the Church
placed Copernicus s book on the list of forbidden books. Nonetheless, Copernicus s
choice to publish his theory, although it was not widely accepted, was extremely
significant, because without this choice, heliocentric theory may never had been
discovered or publicly shared with the

4 EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON COLLEGE STUDENTS Statement of
Problem To address the issue of the effectiveness of using social networking, the
first question raised in this study is: for what purpose is the student utilizing social
networking? Research on this topic will start to reveal social networking sites are
simply part of how students interact with each other with no apparent impact on
grades. Thus, the objective of this research is to explore the advantages and
disadvantages of students use of social networking for study. The main purpose of
this research is to expand on previous research, explore the relationship between the
effects of social networking and students study efficiency, and to determine if social
media interfering with students academic lives. Research Questions: Which is the
most popular social media site for students? What is the amount of time students
spend utilizing social media in various academic processes? Review of the

this study, social media was defined as Facebook, YouTube, Blogs, Twitter, MySpace

Leadership Goals And Objectives Of Leadership
Development
All organization s extensive period of competitiveness and success is contingent on
its ability to develop effective and vibrant leaders. Many researchers as well as top
level executives, recognize the fact that there is a lagging in developing new and
current leaders who have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to
assume positions of leadership. It is critical for organizations to create a continuous
line of future, and current leaders that know how to effectively lead and carry out the
missions of their businesses to achieve their goals and objectives.
With respect to leadership development, our organization uses theories, models, and
approaches that are used to shape the destiny of future leaders as well as the
organization itself, but also the community, and the families of the leaders that are
developed. Leaders that get results, that can enhance growth, and manage change are
desperately in demand today. Bill Gates was quoted in an article saying, as we look
ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others (Josephson,
2012).
As I reflect on the question how does my organization develop and hone leadership
skills, Performance reviews are used to test, and evaluate key competencies, and
capabilities of leaders. The Balance Scorecard is used to answer questions such as, is
the organization continually cultivating and creating value in areas like innovation,

Tetracycline and Chloramphenicol against Serratia marcescens
By
C. A. Bechdel
Abstract
The problem investigated was Serratia marcescens. We hypothesized that both
Tetracycline and chloramphenicol will be effective against treating S. marcescens.
The experiment was conducted with a single control group and two experimental
groups. The experiment was replicated 8 times. The experiment showed that in
testing the control group S. marcescens, chloramphenicol had a mean death zone of
30.9 mm +/ 2.80 mm, and tetracycline had a mean death zone of 20.8 mm +/ 2.91
mm. Chloramphenicol had a significantly greater mean death zone then that of
tetracycline.

Still holding the vial at a 45 degree angle, the swab was inserted into the vial to
soak up the S. marcescens for 10 seconds. Partly lifting the lid of one petri dish,
shielding it over top like an umbrella, we inoculated S. marcescens onto the agar
growth medium in the petri dish. We repeated these steps 2 more times to
inoculate all 3 petri dishes. Once all three plates were inoculated with the S.
marcescens we removed our forceps from the alcohol. We air dried them, and then
passed them through the flam to sterilize them. Using the sterile forceps we placed
the c disc in the center of a petri dish and press down lightly to ensure that it stayed.
It is then labeled it C, for the control group, 5 for the replicate number, along with
the date and time of the class. Again we sterilize the forceps and place the T disc
into the next petri plate. It is labeled the same way but with a T for tetracycline.
The T disc contained 30ug of the antibiotic. We repeat the sterilizing of the forceps
one more time and place the Chl disc on the remaining petri plate and labeled it Chl
for chloramphenicol. The Chl disc contained 30ug of the antibiotic. Once all 3 petri
dishes are labeled they were placed upside down to prevent water droplets from
falling onto the nutrient agar substrate. The last step to the experiment was to clean
up. We placed our swabs in a waste beaker, cleaned up our work stations, and then
washed our hands with soap and
Essay Cac Card
Importance of a Common Access Card
By: LCpl Crisp, Darius D.
I am writing this essay about the importance of a Common Access Card. Which is
also known as a CAC card. The Common Access Card (CAC) is a United States
Deparrtment of Defense (DoD) Smart Card. The card is issued to Active duty
Military Personnel, Reserve Personnel, Civilian Personnel, state employees of the
National Guard, contractor personnel, and other non DoD government employees.
The CAC is the size of a standard credit card and stores 64 or 128 kB of data storage
and memory on a single integrated circuit. The CAC is used as a general
identification card as well as for authentication to enable access to DoD computers,

In order to fix a CAC card, you need to have access to a RAPIDS facility. One of the
most advanced smart ID card programs in the United States is the Department of
Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC), a smart card that serves as the DoD
standardidentification for active duty military personnel, selected reserve
personnel, civilian employees, and eligible contractor personnel. The CAC is the
principal card used for logical access to DoD computer networks and systems, and
it will be the principal card used to enable physical access as systems are installed
for authentication and access at DoD facilities in the future. As of July 2004, DoD
has issued over 5.4 million smart cards. (This number includes reissues to
accommodate changes in name, rank, or status and to replace lost or stolen cards.) As
of the same date, approximately 3 million unterminated or active CACs are in
circulation.
DoD has deployed an issuance infrastructure at over 930 sites in more than 25
countries around the world and is rolling out more than 1 million card readers and
associated middleware. A key goal of the CAC program is to meet DoD s mandate
to sign all electronic mail and other electronic documents digitally. Future plans
include using the CAC to sign and encrypt e mail, expanding the number of portals
capable of doing Web based e business using PKI authentication tools, adding a

Descriptive Essay About Bum Hole
The Bum Hole is the most disturbing and confusing place in Davie. My best friend

the Bum Hole through a couple of friends before the school year ended. I could
hear the anticipation in his voice when he said, There s this dark, creepy place just
on the outskirts of Davie . We decided to invite our friend Andrew because he is
always up for an adventure. I shiver at the idea that a darkness will hover over me

We came up to a small enclosure where we had to squeeze through two cement
walls, two feet apart. After 10 minutes of struggling to fit everybody in, we were
now in view of a pitch black tunnel entrance. Entering the hole was another level of
intimidation, that we were not ready to participate in just yet. That being said Khazi,
Conor and myself were still hesitant about going in without the assurance of each
other. This became an opportunity for our minds to create impressions of things.

Angela Lee Duckworth s The Key To Success
Imagine a world in which grit was rarely valued amongst people a world in which
no one wished to work hard to achieve their goals, and gave up as soon as hardships

one had been determined enough to continue pushing themselves, and grant us
with the countless advancements we have been gifted with today. On the other
hand, envision a world in which people all around the world were completely driven
by the prospect of achieving success, persevering against all odds. They would

Countless figures in history, including people like Thomas Edison, were able to
succeed only because of the determination they had to achieve their goal, and their
ability to persevere regardless of the hardships they had been confronted with. Grit
allows us to keep going, after thousands of failures or setbacks, pushing through even
after being told you would fail. Grit keeps us from giving up, making us try time
after time again. Angela Lee Duckworth s quote can be applied to my life, as well
as the lives of many others in the arts and in history. The most prominent
experience in my life, in which I had to be resilient and display a large amount of
grit , would be the struggle I had trying to move up in my band; in the end, my hard
work and determination paid off and I surpassed my expectations. In the arts, the
protagonist in the book series Harry Potter can easily be considered to have
displayed the traits Angela Duckworth was talking about, never giving up
regardless of the challenges ahead. Finally, throughout his life, Thomas Edison had
been known to never give up, continuously being forced to overcome challenges,
yet never giving up through it all. Now, upon realizing the impact grit has on
success, the following question arises: what would the world be like if everyone
displayed this trait, determined to achieve their goal no matter how hard the task
becomes? Therefore, the next time you are faced with an obstacle, do not be
intimidated by it and turn back, but rather face it head on, knowing it will make you
stronger. Get back up after each time you are pushed to the ground, and you might
just end up exceeding even your own
Comparing Daoism And Confucianism
While Daoism and Confucianism are of two different strains of thought they often
flow in the same way like two parallel rivers in governance in aspects of life, in
practice the two systems are often flow be each other to some degree but never
interconnect at any points. Confucianism deals with social matters, while Taoism
concerns itself with the search for meaning. They share common beliefs about man,
society, and the universe, although these notions were around long before either
philosophy. Confucianismand Daoism are the two most influential philosophies in
China both having their roots during the Zhou Dynasty The political and social

According to Confucius, each person should act with virtue in all social matters;

all its forms is called ren which would make sense but Daoism does not make much
sense the ideology in which the ideal ruler and government do not interfere in the
lives of the people and lead them to prosperity of primitive simplicity by nonaction

from its early state of innocence but realistically as a person or society lives and
ages there is no such thing as innocence as one must grow and learn. The sage
practices nonaction, gives up worldly ambitions, and lives a simple life in accord
with nature though that one does. The dedication to right relationships and a solid
social order contrast directly with the inner direct intuition of Taoism. While both
philosophies of Confucianism and Taoism may end up with the same result in having
a healthy society, one is taught and can culminate in results while the other is
impeded by environmental variables and through inaction and exclusiveness may

The Economic Crisis Of Boomerang Buyers
Several years ago, the United States experienced an economic disaster like no one
has ever seen before. This economic crisis left families devastated, broken and in
disbelief as they were being escorted and locked out of their homes in the presenceof
neighbors, families, and children. During the economic crisis, the current boomerang
buyers were not able to meet their financial obligations, and as a result lost their
homes to foreclosure, and many had to file bankruptcy.Purchasing a home with bad
credit is difficult, but not impossible. As these foreclosure victims try to reconstruct
their lives, it is imperative they reestablish good credit.
Many boomerang buyers cannot have imaginedliving through an experience and

Therefore, with distance (minimum two years) between the prior foreclosure event
and locating a potential new home, the boomerang buyer is facing the opportunity of
a lifetime to buy a home again(Martin).
Current boomerang buyers are opting to rent to own as a possible way to procure a
home.According to an article, entitled How to Buy A House Using A Lease, Rent
to own is a good option for foreclosure victims with poor credit (MediaWiki).Rent to
own usually require buyers to pay extra rents each month plus up front fees of about
5% of the purchase price. The regular rent then goes in owner s pocket (presumably
to pay the mortgage), but the additional payments are used to buy down the price of
the home (Christie).
The buyer should save for a down payment, address credit issues and pay off existing
debts before buying. Rent to own afford the boomerang buyers time to assess their
finances to figure out:
If they have enough money to come up with the down payment;
If they have enough money to pay the mortgage;
If they have the income to invest;
If there is enough money to meet other expenses; and
Most importantly, if they plan to stay in the house. (Christie) There are several
benefits to lease options. During the period of the lease, the boomerang buyer has
time to put their finances in order, thus reducing the stress of paying a mortgage.
Also the prospective buyer has an opportunity to improve their credit profile; a longer

Monitoring In Neonates Validation
Study 3: Validation of Oxygen Saturation Monitoring in Neonates The third study
reviewed was written by Shyang Yun Pamela K. Shiao and Ching Nan Ou (2007),
and is titled Validation of Oxygen Saturation Monitoring in Neonates. The objective
of this particular study was to validate whether the clinical monitor was correct in
recording oxygen saturations, comparing the results to bloodsamples. According to
this study, blood was obtained for this research through catheters that were inserted
through the umbilical artery and the umbilical vein to obtain the levels of oxygen in
blood. The neonates used for this study included neonates in the neonatal intensive
care unit. Included in this study were neonates that were born with respiratory distress

The studies are also similar in that they all are examining oxygen saturation levels in
neonates. The first study and second study both used reusable probes to detect
oxygen saturation. The objectives are dissimilar between the three studies. The
objective of the first study was done in order to determine the ease of implementing
pulse oximetry screenings in community hospitals, the second study seeks to evaluate
the effectiveness of the pulse oximetry screenings, and the third study seeks to
compare and validate oxygen saturation levels that show up on clinical monitors, to
blood samples of the neonates. The procedures done in each of the studies were
different: the first study was done by a pulse oximeter placed on the right hand and a
second pulse oximeter placed on either of the feet. The second study was done
only by a single pulse oximeter placed only on either foot. The third study was
done by drawing blood from the neonate and comparing the results of the blood to
what the pulse oximeter said, which was placed on either of the neonates feet. The
studies all differed in the parameters that they used. In the first study, a healthy
neonate had an oxygen saturation greater than 95%, with less than a 3% difference
in the saturations detected by the pulse oximeter on the right hand, and the one on
the foot. In the second study, a normal saturation was considered to be 94% or
greater. In the third study, a normal pulse oximeter reading was defined as being at
95% or greater. The studies differ in the level of education provided for the nursing
staff, also. In study one, there was education and training provided for all nursing
staff that worked in labor and delivery, and on the mother/baby floors. In the second
study, there was no education or training provided, other than on the use of a pulse
oximeter. In the third study, no education or training was noted on performing the
procedure,
The Unethical Issues of the Tuskegee Study Essay
In 1929, there were good intentions to help the African Americans. The Julius
Rosenwald Fund tried to improve the health illnesses of African Americans by
approaching representatives of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS). Unfortunately,
the Great Depression did not allow for this study to happen because it hit the Fund
hard. Since there were no more funds, Dr. Taliaferro Clark, Chief of the USPHS
Venereal Disease Division and author of the Rosenwald Study report, suggested that
the treatment study could be partly saved by conducting a new study. This study
became known as Study of Untreated Syphilis in Males. The U.S. Public Health
Service conducted this new experiment study which consisted of 399 men with
syphilis and 201 men... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the healthcare workers such as doctors strongly believed that there was a
racial difference in the symptoms of diseases. The white doctors often thought that
African Americans contracted syphilis because of their ever increasing low
standards of sexual morality (24). The participants had to be men about twenty
five years of age with syphilis who had not been treated for the disease. It was quite
simple to gather a group of people in Macon County because it was a poor
community with bad hygiene. Many men who participated in this study have
never seen a doctor in their life which willingly made them to be part of this study.
The African Americans did not know about the healthcare terms and were taken
advantage of by white doctors who contributed to this study. In fact, the doctors
had no intention in helping the participants to be cured from syphilis. Syphilis is a
disease that is sexually transmitted that can cause serious difficulties such as death
if it is not treated. If you treat it with penicillin, it is simple to cure. There are three
stages of this disease. The first stage is the primary stage; during this stage a
person may notice a single sore or a couple and it is usually painless. During the
second stage people start to get rashes or sores in different areas such as the mouth,
vagina, or anus. The Latent and Late Stages starts to settle in when all of the
symptoms that a person had
The Anti-War and Hippie Movements
From the late 1950s to the late 1970s a phenomenon erupted over the United States. A
proud counter culture was born in the midst of the Vietnam War. Many people
protested against the Vietnam War and the horrors that many people saw on TV
because of it. Many incidents triggered the Anti War movement and the Hippie
counter culture such as the growing United Statesinvolvement in Southern Vietnam,
the gruesome images that the evening news showed uncensored, the draft that
caused many thousands of men to lose their lives and their minds as the end result
of the war. This war triggered a great sense of what is right and wrong in
specifically young people. Social justice and moral justice were some of the main
focal points of the Anti War and Hippie movements. This war allowed teenagers
and young adults to have power in what they believe in and to stand up against
unjust killings of our men and innocent lives in Vietnam. The eighteen year span of
the war from 1956 1975 saw the rise and eventually the fall of the anti war
movement and the hippie movement. The Vietnam War was one of the most hated
wars in United States history, for the primary reasons that we did not win and the
draft destroyed countless men, physically and mentally. The end result of the war
did not justify the means and this made a lot of people very upset. This war was also
the most televised war, showing incredibly gruesome, uncensored images on the
evening news at dinner time. The political protest for the
Grand Inquisitor Research Paper
Abstract: During the Inquisition, a reincarnated Christ was walking the streets. As he
began to heal the sick, a cardinal ordered to have him locked up. Later that day, the
Grand Inquisitor paid the reincarnated Jesus a visit but not to praise Him instead to
reprimand Him. The Grand Inquisitor scolds Jesusfor giving humankind freedom by
refusing the three temptations of the Devil. He believes humans are too weak to deal
with the burden of freedom so unhappiness is created. To counteract the unhappiness,
the Church assumes responsibility. In other words, the Church takes the earthly
authority that Jesus denied. That s why the Grand Inquisitor locks reincarnated
Christ up then asks him to leave because he doesn t want Jesus to ruin the authority...

These two focuses are represented in the Grand Inquisitor s argument to Christ.
Dostoevsky makes his opposing point to the Grand Inquisitors argument through
Alyosha s response to Ivan, after he s finished telling the story. Alyosha describes
the Grand Inquisitor as an atheist tyrant; It s simple lust for power, for filthy earthly
gain, for domination something like a universal serfdom with them as masters that s
all they (Inquisitors) stand for. They don t even believe in God perhaps (Dostoevsky
34). Dostoevsky is trying to emphasize that not only is Jesus correct when He defends
freedom but that the Grand Inquisitor and the Church are wrong in creating and
enforcing their own rules to
Women s Leadership Position As An Undergraduate
Student...
Background: Women in leadership provided a variety of different insights about
being a woman in leadership positions both in the business world and outside of it.
One constant theme throughout the class was how women have to constantly prove
our competence more than men. Women are less likely to have an executive position
in a company, which means that when women are hired for these positions, they have
to prove themselves. As a woman, this is something I have not faced in my current
position as an undergraduate student, but as I move forward in my career, I know
it is a challenge I will face. One statistic that was mentioned during lecture really
stuck out in my mind. Women apply for jobs when they feel they meet 100% of the
criteria, whereas men apply for jobs when they feel they meet 60% of the
qualifications. Like was previously stated, women feel the need to constantly prove
themselves, which is why they only apply for jobs they can 100% succeed in versus
men have confidencein themselves even if they are sure if they meet all the job
qualifications. Bottom line based on the success of many of the speakers from
Women in Leadership, if you are confident in yourself, you can complete a task and
complete it well.
It is clear having confidence when apply to jobs, and in general is an extremely
important skill to have. While there are many different strategies in the working
world for women to succeed, it is important to work hard and be confident to get the
job done. As
Analysis Of The Movie American Sniper
U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to
become a cowboy, but it wasn t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of
terrorism on 9/11 he was ready to fight for his country and enlisted into the military.
He goes on to fight in four tours and becomes the deadliest sniper in American
history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go back. He had two goals that he
couldn t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the deadliest enemy sniper,
Mustafa. Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he finally did, he
faced a new battle. He struggled with normal daily life, but even then he
persevered and found a new passion to aid him. Throughout this film, Clint
Eastwood portrays the theme of perseverance through the use of setting, camera
angles, and the main character Chris Kyle. American Sniper is a film that revolves
around the life of a Navy SEAL sniper named Chris Kyle. Chris grew up in an old

After 9/11 that was the last straw for him, so he decided to become a Navy SEAL.
During his training he meets a girl at a bar, at the time it didn t seem too serious to
either of them until they end up getting married. Soon after the wedding Chris was

the battlefield; all of the foot soldiers wanted him as their sniper because of how

The Physics and Science of the Violoncello Essay
The violoncello, or more commonly known as the cello, is often referred to as the
tenor of the string family. The name violoncello literally means little violone where
one means big and cello means little. The violone was the lowest pitched instrument
of the Viol family. By the end of the 19th century, the term violincello has been more
or less replaced with cello. The cello has four strings, tuned in relations of perfect
5ths. This fact is derived from the phenomenon of the overtone series; a perfect fifth
is the second overtone above the fundamental, and the first non repetitious overtone.
Therefore, relations of perfect fifths are the strongest relations in the musical
language, and are used for tuning as well as major... Show more content on

The cello is usually made of wood, although materials such as carbon fiber or
aluminum may be used in place. Luis Clark is a very cello manufacturer that
constructs carbon fiber cellos. They are suited for outdoor concerts and events
because of its resistence and strength to temperature and humidity. The wood that s
used for construction includes spruce for the top, maple for the back, sides, and
neck. The top and back parts of the cello are usually hand carved. The sides are
formed by heating up the wood and bending them. The body of the cello has two
wide bouts at the top and bottom, and two C bouts at the middle. A bridge and two
f holes are in place below the middle part. The top and back parts of the cello has
purfling a decorative border inlay. However, purfling is not just decoration; it is used
to protect the instrument from cracks. Because of playing, traveling, and/or the
weather, the cello may form cracks around the rim, but the pufling helps the crack
spreading further to the top or the back.
Above the top part of the cello is the neck, pegbox, and, the scroll. They are usually
carved out of a single piece of maple. The fingerboard, which is glued to the neck,
is spread over the body. The nut is a raised piece of wood at the top of the
fingerboard that keeps the strings in the correct spots and distance. The pegbox has
four tuning pegs, which have the four strings tied to it. The strings are tuned by
tuning the pegs, so that the

Early Sport Specialization
In the past 30 years, the direction of sports within the youth has drastically changed.
In the past, young athletes aimed to play in several sports. Now, athletes focus
themselves in one single sport and year round extensive training has been
encouraged by most adults in a young athlete s life whether they are a parent or a
coach. Allowing the youth to participate in sports is frequently considered a great
way to develop leadership skills and an appreciation for individual and team
accomplishments (Sailor). Along with the rise of Sport Specialization, concerns
pertaining to a child s physical and psychological health have begun to increase as
well. Early Sport Specialization may lead to greater risks in a child s life such as

According to Elsbeth Vaino, 82% of the top professional athletes involved
themselves in multiple sports before they went pro (Vaino). Let s take Russell
Wilson for example. Wilson played football and baseball while he attended North
Carolina State University. In his freshman year, Wilson was the first quarterback
to earn all ACC honors at North Carolina State University. Wilson s passion to
continue to play baseball caused conflict with coach Tom O Brien, head football
coach at North Carolina State University. Coach O Brien and Wilson came to a
disagreement due to Russell s decision to attend Spring training with the Rockies, a
Major League Baseball team, in 2011 after he was drafted by them in 2010. Wilson
decided to transfer to the University of Wisconsin Madison and continued his
success. By Wilson s senior year, he led his football team, the Badgers, to the Big

In April 2012, Russell Wilson was drafted to the Seattle Seahawks and has been
setting records ever since he started playing. Wilson holds the record for the most
passing yards in a playoff game and is a top five NFL quarterback (Breitenbach).
Not only did Russell Wilson achieve amazing accomplishments in a span of 4 years,
he has only experienced one health complication which
The Value Of Experiential Learning
The Value of Experiential Learning Adults seeking to complete their
undergraduate or graduate degrees bring a unique perspective to the college
classroom life experiences. For many adult students life experiences delayed the
ability to attend college but valuable learning occurred by having careers, raising
families, and traveling. Schooling in the traditional sense is void of knowledge
unless academic teachings can be experienced and practiced in real life (Carroll,
2015). While not all life experiences can be classified as college level learning, an
adult brings a level of maturity to their studies that are not often seen in the
traditional college student. The value of experiential learning can be quantified not
only in the adult learner but also in those that choose a second career in teaching.
The National Center for Educational Statistics reported an increase of adults
enrolling in postsecondary degree programs occurred over a ten year period from
1980 to 1990. In 1980 students over the age of 25 accounted for 38 percent of the
total enrollment while traditional students made up 62 percent. In 1990 the younger
population enrolling in colleges dropped 6 percent while older students increased 6
percent. This trend has stayed static through 2015 and remains so through 2026
projections (NCES, 2015). Adults who reenter the college classroom differ from their
traditional student counterparts because adults juggle multiple life roles. These roles
could include

Writing Style Of George Orwell
Eric Blair, also known for his nom de plume George Orwell, was an English
journalist, essayist, novelist, and critic, born in Bengal, India on 25 June 1903. He
wrote many essays, novels, and assignments although his most famous novels were,
Animal Farm (1945), and Nineteen Eighty Four (1949). Even though he died shortly
after writingNineteen Eighty Four, his popularity skyrocketed with his last published
book. To this day, both books are still very popular for their political commentaries.
According to Brain Pickings editor, Maria Popova, George Orwellwas a man of
unflinching idealism who made no apologies for making his convictions clear, be
they about the ethics of journalism, the universal motives of writing, or the golden
rules for making tea, ... He influenced and continues to influence popular and
political culture with his fiction and journalistic ability to defend his political
convictions. The popular word Orwellian was named after the clean, clear and direct
writing style of the novelist George Orwell. He often used a writing style that
enhanced the imagery throughout, while using short words and phrases that got
straight to the point. Although, George Orwell wrote about his political convictions
in simplistic form , the word Orwellian can be seen as an adjective that describes a
situation, idea, or a social condition, that usually refers to an oppressive totalitarian
government with an abundance of surveillance, a perfect example being the society

Moral Relativism Reflection
Throughout my history education, many facts have been drilled into my head. I
know dates and names, but before this class I didn t have much opportunity to
actually think about these facts objectively. As it has been explained to me: History
is a portrait that is printed differently depending on the artist s bias (Roderick), that
is to say that just as each artists painting of the same thing would vary, and that the
same concept applies to history. The past is often presented to us as mere facts, and
it is this class that has given me the opportunity to assume the job of a historian and
create my own storyline. Moral Relativismplays a huge part in my personal thought
process about history. I tend to attempt to see things from more than just my
perspective. Though I may disagree with many of the actions taken throughout
history, my belief is that it is important to look at and understand the mindsets that
lead to these events. This analysis of mindsets rather than just pure facts allows a
more thoughtful view of history, that I believe is essential in order to truly
understand the subject. One major example of how different perceptions of facts can
lead to different narratives are the causes of the American Revolution. There are two
main viewpoints that are typically seen on these series of events: The Colonist s
perspective and the English perspective. Though there are many different lenses to
view this topic through, these two are most commonly analyzed due to the

Health and Illness is determined by the interaction between healthy mind, body and

How Did The Us Convert To The Metric System
When the United States separated from Britain they kept the original Imperial
measurement system despite disregarding the previous government. Ever since
America has used inches, feet, and yards as standard measurement. However, while
the U.S. continued to use the imperial system other countries progressed. In 1799,
after the french revolution, France converted to the metric system. Invented by
Gabriel Monton in France 1670, the metric system uses common powers of ten to
measure weight and lengths so that it could be conveniently used with decimals.
Soon the metric system had spread from France to Britain and most of the world.
Countries now use the metric system to measure length, area, volume, mass, force,
pressure, energy, power, and temperature.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By converting to the metric system our trade would increase because there would
no longer be a need to change between systems and other countries could view the
modification as making amends. It could also save millions of dollars for the U.S.
because large companies like NASA would all be on the same page using the metric
system. Smaller mistakes could also be prevented by swapping to the much simpler
metric system. One last thing the change would impact is education. If kids no longer
had to learn two measurement systems they would have more time to learn other
material. All in all, If america wants to prosper economically and in education then
the government must make the switch to go

Coffee that is not consumed in a short period of time is thrown out due to it tasting
burned. Coffee pot is not cleaned before a fresh pot of coffee is made. The price
paid for a cup of coffee is the same no matter what size of cup used. People do not
consistently pay their coffee dues. Pouring coffee from the pot to the cup creates a
messy area. People do not clean their mess. A new pot of coffee is not always
started after the last cup has been poured. Coffee that has been started too late in the
day is usually thrown out.
It is possible to solve all of these issues while maintaining the same coffee maker. But
the problems will recur. Addressing these recurring issues in the same manner is not
the solution. The solution is to change the method of coffee preparation.
Method Used
Two coffee makers are examined in this report, the current coffee maker used in
the office and the proposed replacement model. The current coffee maker is the Mr.
Coffee model FTX43, black and chrome 12 cup programmable coffee maker,
originally priced at $70.00 ( Drugstore.com, n.d.). The proposed replacement coffee
maker is the Keurig OfficePro Commercial Coffee Brewer, average price $130.00 (
Staples.com, n.d.). The coffee used in this report is the same brand for both
models. This will enable as fair a comparison as possible. The type of coffee used in
the comparison is Folgers Gourmet Selections Black

I.INTRODUCTION
Cloud computing simply means Internet computing , generally the internet is seen as
collection of clouds; thus the word cloud computing can be defined as utilizing the
internet to provide technology enabled services to the people and organizations[1].
Cloud computing is a powerful emerging service that provides an optimized and
efficient computing platform by using sharing and virtualization concepts and
improving availability, scalability, collaboration and agility for users and enterprises
[2]. Cloud computing has a rapid growth in IT industries due to the considerable
benefits of sorting and maintaining resources in unlimited storages with the most cost
efficient method, business continuity and scalability [3]. However, the only hurdle in
wide adoption of this newfound technology is lack of security especially in data
protection, authentication, and data transmission subject [4].
Cloud computing system is divided into 2 sections: The first section is known as
front end and another section is the back end[5]. Front end is through which client
can access the cloud data. Back end is collection of computers that provide services
to client. Cryptography is a very basic technique for data security in Cloud

Toyota Prius Stereotypes
The Myth Behind the Toyota Prius After its creation fifteen years ago, the Toyota
Prius has attained a cult status in American culture, and has grown to become a
symbol in addition to being a hybrid car. Once high profile celebrities like
Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz were seen in the Prius in the early 2000s, it
became cool, smart, and trendy to own a Prius. Over the last ten years, there has
become two stereotypical owners of a Prius: economically conscious, mediocre
driving, organic food eating, hippie; or an older person trying to save money on gas
that isn t trying look flashy as they drive around. Evidence that lead to these
stereotypes is found all over popular culture in movies, TV shows and social media.
Although the assumptions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two movies are notorious for their portrayal of the Prius: Horrible Bosses (2011)
and The Other Guys (2010). In Horrible Bosses one of the main characters was
caught speeding and was being questioned, Detective Samson: Do you want to
explain why you were doing 61 in a 25 zone? Nick Hendricks: I was drag racing. I
m a drag racer. Detective Samson: You were drag racing...In a Prius. Nick
Hendricks: I don t win a lot. The sarcastic response about drag racing in a Prius
fuels the stereotype that the Prius is laughable car to be caught driving. The same
type of humor is used in The Other Guys as the car is abused and treated as pathetic
and is a running joke throughout the film. All these pop culture negative depictions of
the Prius have engrained and created the sign of the car in American

The customers, employees and other stakeholders are the ones who primarily
benefit, but some of the initiatives are a direct benefit to the community and in the
case of Home Depot, the world. As stated earlier, the company has a strong
environmental component that is effective and focused, which in turn benefits the

Energy Star products save consumers money and often offer rebates when their
products are purchased. The sale and use of these products from Home Depot,
lessened the carbon footprint by over 35% in 2016 ( Resources Reports , 2016).
Another example is that they intend to grow their ongoing commitment to veteran
related causes to a quarter of a billion dollars by 2020 ( Resources Reports , 2016).
There are many examples of how people and places have benefitted from the Home
Depot s CSR initiative, all can be found on their website and they report this
information to the shareholders

  • 2. Book Of Luke Parable Essay The book of Luke contains the most parables of the four Gospels. Among these teachings is the story of the three servants. Like all parables, this story portrays a lesson that Jesus is encouraging those who hear to learn and live after. In this parable, an upper class man entrusts ten servants with the job to take one mina and use it wisely in business. Another important aspect is the fact that this man was trying to become a king and had people who rallied against him. The outcome of these events parallel to what the outcome of those listening will be depending on the path they choose. Within this parable, many aspects of Luke s other writings are seen, further supporting his theological basis. The parable of the three servants explains how a nobleman who, when leaving in search of becoming a king, gives a mina to ten of his servants to engage in business with until he returns as ... The fact that Jesus stated he was leaving and was to return also could have been meant to put to rest any gossip of the kingdom of God coming as soon as Jesus entered Jerusalem. The business mentioned in the parable can parallel as these chosen people spreading what they have learned and reaching more people for the Christ. Those who go in joy and bring people to be saved in Jesus and become part of His inheritance shall be rewarded, however those who keep the Good News to themselves will be punished for it. As for those who fought against the king, they represent the group of people who may hear the Good News, but make an effort to disbar Jesus and revoke any power He has, or simply choose to not listen. When He returns as King we are all to be judged for our deeds and those who fight against Jesus and do not accept Him will be put to eternal death in Hell (Matthew

Cellphones made today certainly has much to offer, and without a doubt is a great innovation. But when it comes to relying on them it can certainly affect us and what is surrounding us negatively. Today, cellphones are one of the major part of our society. Cheating at school is just one thing. The internet makes bullying easier, faster and harsher. It is something that will never go away and it can be seen by everyone. Cyberbullying is now made easier with a use of a cellphone because you do not have to turn on a computer. As we all know, bullying can lead to many emotional, physical, and mental aspects of one s life such as, depression, eating disorders, self esteem, and even have suicidal thoughts. The usage of cellphones have also created less unity with families and friends. • 4. Market Research Project 1. Executive summary The purpose of this research report is to find out whether customers are interested in an online hypermarket. To analyze this, the research is divided in three topics. The first one discusses the interest from customers to buy online. The second looks at drivers and barriers for people to buy online. Finally, the third topic investigates the different product categories that Caddyhome should include in their assortment. To analyze these topics, a market research was conducted through a face to face questionnaire and the results analyzed through a statistical program called SPSS. These results can be found in Appendix A. On the basis of these results, recommendations are given to Caddyhome regarding these topics.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We used a convenience sample, which means that we asked people who were available when and where we collected our data. Our sample was conducted among 100 150 respondents with Dutch, Belgian, French and Spanish nationalities. This should be enough in order to get some insight of the interest of the customers for the project and derive some relevant results from it. 5. Research questions, hypothesis and data analysis I. The interest to buy in an online hypermarket To analyze this topic we have six research questions. After we have tested the corresponding hypotheses, we give a short recommendation to Caddyhome regarding this topic. We decided to use a one sample t test because we only have 1 sample (all the respondents) and our dependent variable has interval data. The test is two sided because the

Benjamin asks whether it is not his [the story teller or craftsman] very task to fashion the raw material of experience, his own and that of others, in a solid, useful, and unique way (p. 108). If the writer is as acutely aware of his or her audience as an oral story teller would be, it is possible to craft a utilitarian product. The solitary production method of writing that removes the writer from his or her immediate context makes this very difficult to achieve. What is lost is the mystical aura that electrified and preserved oral storytelling for so many generations. Writing by hand inevitably led to the printing press and other forms of art, such as visual art, which soon became easily reproducible. The degradation continues as the mode of production evolves. With the advent of the lithograph, whose origins lie in etching and engraving, works of art were beginning to lose their aura. Just as a written novel is not the same as the oral story from which it may

According to the Kansas Department of transportation, there were, 1,087 motorcycle crashes in 2016. Of those, 860 people involved in the crashes were injured, 52 people died; while only 21 of those people were wearing helmets (Kansas Department of Transportation). There are only 17 states in the United States that require helmets be used always, 19 states say that you must wear a helmet if you are under the age of 18, while 11 states say you must wear a helmet if you are under the age of 21, leaving only four states that have no helmet laws at all (Motorcycle Helmet Laws) While some may argue that motorcycle helmets take away their freedom on the road and oppose their constitutional rights; helmets should be required to be worn by all motorcycle riders because they prevent skull, brain, and spinal cord injuries. Helmets prevent wind and debris from getting in the driver s eyes, and its costs tax payers less money to treat helmets wearers than non helmet wearers. Motorcycle helmets are specially made and tested to prevent injuries from occurring to the driver s skull, brain, and spinal cord. Many helmets are run through extensive testing to ensure that they are going to keep the motorcyclist safe in the event of a collision or slide (Wendling). According to a study, full face helmets, which surround the entire head and cover the face, reduced the risk of facial and skull fractures by almost half (Wendling). Helmeted

  • 9. How Did Nicolaus Copernicus Influence The Renaissance The world of astronomy is filled with famous names, such as Galileo and Newton. However, one of the most significant astronomers during the Renaissance era was Nicolaus Copernicus. Copernicus s first interest in astronomy blossomed into a life of creating astronomical theories. These theories would not only shape the world of science, but transform the Renaissance and history itself. Nicolaus Copernicuswas an extremely significant figure in history because he was a scientist, he challenged the RCC, he used Classical World ideas, and he modeled the spirit of the Renaissance. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Copernicus s new heliocentric theory caused trouble with the church. The Church believed in geocentrism, the theory that the Earth, Jerusalem specifically, was the center of the universe. Copernicus s theory contradicted the Church s teachings, which made him hesitant to publicize his ideas. Copernicus feared the punishments he would receive from the Church and other Christians for his ideas. However, in 1530, he began to share his theory among other scholars. He received positive feedback for his theory, and thirteen years later, he was convinced to publish his ideas in a book called De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium (On the Revolutions on the Heavenly Spheres). Many people rejected Copernicus s ideas; in fact, Martin Luther once stated, This Fool wants to turn the whole Art of Astronomyupside down. While his book did convince some people to accept heliocentric theory, the book was not widely published, it was difficult to read, and the book was very expensive, causing the book to gain little attention. Even with the lack of publicly, the Church placed Copernicus s book on the list of forbidden books. Nonetheless, Copernicus s choice to publish his theory, although it was not widely accepted, was extremely significant, because without this choice, heliocentric theory may never had been discovered or publicly shared with the

Grit allows us to keep going, after thousands of failures or setbacks, pushing through even after being told you would fail. Grit keeps us from giving up, making us try time after time again. Angela Lee Duckworth s quote can be applied to my life, as well as the lives of many others in the arts and in history. The most prominent experience in my life, in which I had to be resilient and display a large amount of grit , would be the struggle I had trying to move up in my band; in the end, my hard work and determination paid off and I surpassed my expectations. • 25. Women s Leadership Position As An Undergraduate Student... Background: Women in leadership provided a variety of different insights about being a woman in leadership positions both in the business world and outside of it. One constant theme throughout the class was how women have to constantly prove our competence more than men. Women are less likely to have an executive position in a company, which means that when women are hired for these positions, they have to prove themselves. As a woman, this is something I have not faced in my current position as an undergraduate student, but as I move forward in my career, I know it is a challenge I will face. One statistic that was mentioned during lecture really stuck out in my mind. Women apply for jobs when they feel they meet 100% of the criteria, whereas men apply for jobs when they feel they meet 60% of the qualifications. Like was previously stated, women feel the need to constantly prove themselves, which is why they only apply for jobs they can 100% succeed in versus men have confidencein themselves even if they are sure if they meet all the job qualifications. Bottom line based on the success of many of the speakers from Women in Leadership, if you are confident in yourself, you can complete a task and complete it well. It is clear having confidence when apply to jobs, and in general is an extremely important skill to have. While there are many different strategies in the working world for women to succeed, it is important to work hard and be confident to get the job done. As

  • 27. The Physics and Science of the Violoncello Essay The violoncello, or more commonly known as the cello, is often referred to as the tenor of the string family. The name violoncello literally means little violone where one means big and cello means little. The violone was the lowest pitched instrument of the Viol family. By the end of the 19th century, the term violincello has been more or less replaced with cello. The cello has four strings, tuned in relations of perfect 5ths. This fact is derived from the phenomenon of the overtone series; a perfect fifth is the second overtone above the fundamental, and the first non repetitious overtone. Therefore, relations of perfect fifths are the strongest relations in the musical language, and are used for tuning as well as major... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A bridge and two f holes are in place below the middle part. The top and back parts of the cello has purfling a decorative border inlay. However, purfling is not just decoration; it is used to protect the instrument from cracks. Because of playing, traveling, and/or the weather, the cello may form cracks around the rim, but the pufling helps the crack spreading further to the top or the back. Above the top part of the cello is the neck, pegbox, and, the scroll. They are usually carved out of a single piece of maple. The fingerboard, which is glued to the neck, is spread over the body. The nut is a raised piece of wood at the top of the fingerboard that keeps the strings in the correct spots and distance. The pegbox has four tuning pegs, which have the four strings tied to it. The strings are tuned by tuning the pegs, so that the

  • 30. The Value Of Experiential Learning The Value of Experiential Learning Adults seeking to complete their undergraduate or graduate degrees bring a unique perspective to the college classroom life experiences. For many adult students life experiences delayed the ability to attend college but valuable learning occurred by having careers, raising families, and traveling. Schooling in the traditional sense is void of knowledge unless academic teachings can be experienced and practiced in real life (Carroll, 2015). While not all life experiences can be classified as college level learning, an adult brings a level of maturity to their studies that are not often seen in the traditional college student. The value of experiential learning can be quantified not only in the adult learner but also in those that choose a second career in teaching. The National Center for Educational Statistics reported an increase of adults enrolling in postsecondary degree programs occurred over a ten year period from 1980 to 1990. In 1980 students over the age of 25 accounted for 38 percent of the total enrollment while traditional students made up 62 percent. In 1990 the younger population enrolling in colleges dropped 6 percent while older students increased 6 percent. This trend has stayed static through 2015 and remains so through 2026 projections (NCES, 2015). Adults who reenter the college classroom differ from their traditional student counterparts because adults juggle multiple life roles. These roles could include

I know dates and names, but before this class I didn t have much opportunity to actually think about these facts objectively. As it has been explained to me: History is a portrait that is printed differently depending on the artist s bias (Roderick), that is to say that just as each artists painting of the same thing would vary, and that the same concept applies to history. The past is often presented to us as mere facts, and it is this class that has given me the opportunity to assume the job of a historian and create my own storyline. Moral Relativismplays a huge part in my personal thought process about history. I tend to attempt to see things from more than just my perspective. Though I may disagree with many of the actions taken throughout history, my belief is that it is important to look at and understand the mindsets that lead to these events. This analysis of mindsets rather than just pure facts allows a more thoughtful view of history, that I believe is essential in order to truly understand the subject. One major example of how different perceptions of facts can lead to different narratives are the causes of the American Revolution. There are two main viewpoints that are typically seen on these series of events: The Colonist s perspective and the English perspective. Though there are many different lenses to view this topic through, these two are most commonly analyzed due to the
